- Lisa Wilson: It is the year of the villain. Every bad guy in every corner of the universe is having their moment. Stripping women of their bodily autonomy? Great idea. Learn how to be a more obedient wife by taking class at the local church. Even better. Stripping people of their humanity and shoving them into cages? Terrific. Brought to you by Home Depot. Bulldozing generational land to build a data center? That sounds familiar, but somehow it's a lot less patriotic when it's your family farm. No one is coming to save us. And this is where Dark Lisa shows up. Buffy fans, you know what I mean. Dark Lisa takes every horrible thing happening in the world, puts it together onto one giant evidence board, and comes to the only conclusion that I can, which is everything sucks, people are terrible, and we're all gonna die. Which is not a particularly sustainable way to live. I mean, I can't absorb 12 horrifying things before breakfast and spend the rest of the day preparing for the collapse of civilization. I mean, I have laundry to do, right? But I also can't just turn it all off and say, I'm gonna protect my peace because this shit is really happening. So there has to be a line somewhere between we're all doomed and everything's fine. I can care, I can pay attention, I can do all the things that are actually mine to do. But I cannot carry all of it. Neither can you. So when I'm faced with this many horrible real problems, what am I supposed to do about it? Really? I mean, I don't know, but you guys, we gotta talk about it. Let's get into it. So Lisa, it's another week. It's another Lisa S: Hello, I know. Lisa Wilson: week. We're cracking each other up. But Lisa S: Ha ha. Lisa Wilson: so you and I have been talking a lot about this. The whole everyone has been talking a lot about this. It's this is not a new topic, but it's something that you and I have kind of shied away from because we really try to focus on being as positive as we possibly can in this hot mess world, right? Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: But it just has gotten to the point where we've we've got to talk about the elephant in the room. You know, which Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: is this. So I don't know if you guys have been on the internet, but Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: people people are pissed. I mean Lisa S: We can't escape it. Like, what was it, Lisa, the other day? I mean, it was like in the four o'clock range, because you're the only Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: other person I know that will be up that early. And Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: I reach out to you and I'm like, is this for real for real? Is this for real for real? And so yeah, like people are pissed. People are up in up in arms. So yeah, I agree with you. Lisa Wilson: yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Any anybody with an iPhone or a microphone, but like here's the part that like this is what prompted me into action into actually like saying we gotta talk about this is that everyone is just yelling into the void. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: Give me instructions. Are we gonna burn cars? What time are we meeting? Go ahead. Lisa S: do I need to bring the snack? I will start I will start a what are those call like a like a list of of who's gonna bring Lisa Wilson: Phone tree. Lisa S: yeah, phone tree. I'll start a list of who's bringing what. Lisa Wilson: Exactly. I mean, Lisa S: Quick list for ya. Lisa Wilson: so if you're gonna get mad and you're gonna yell, yell, yell. I mean, you you know, listen, we get it. We're gonna go through a whole series of things today Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: that we we get it, but give us some instructions. Like, Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: give us some actions other than call your congressman because I have a true story. I I got one of those text messages that says Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: basically, like, your congressman wants to sell babies, like you should call them. And I'm like, what? Because like we all do. Lisa S: Ha ha ha Lisa Wilson: So I call my congressman and a woman picks up. I write them, I call them. So I called Lisa S: You actually do, you write them, you call them. Yes. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: my congressman's office and a lady answers. I'm like, hello. She was like, hello? This is Senator whatever's office. And I'm Lisa S: Uh-huh. Lisa Wilson: like, so listen, I just got this article that says that the senator is into selling babies. And she's like, well, that's ridiculous. Lisa S: Did you fact check? Lisa Wilson: well, did you fact check it? I'm like, well, it came from Move On Org, which is like a really reputable. It's just like, okay, listen, we haven't seen it yet, but we'll send out, we'll send out a response. But literally, like, I was like, well, that's the last time I call and rant in person without doing my. Lisa S: You're selling babies. Lisa Wilson: Which again, it's not funny. But but but it just Lisa S: No, it's not. It's not funny at all, but it's funny that you actually fell for it. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: I got looped in because moveon.org, like I was like, I will die for you. Like, you know. But listen, so, so the question that I have to that you and I keep asking each other is like, okay, Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: so yeah, things are all on fire. Yes, it is the fall of Rome with Wi-Fi, but what can I really do about it? Right? Lisa S: I mean, you literally said that to me the other day. What are you gonna Yeah? Lisa Wilson: Like, what am I supposed to do about that? Lisa S: I'm like, sky's falling, chicken little, like You were like, well, what are you gonna do about it? And I thought, hmm, I don't know, let's talk about it. Lisa Wilson: So to kick us off, I have to say that I think that you and I will probably handle the apocalypse very differently, like we always do. But Lisa S: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: for the for the fun of it, I wanted to read some real world headlines to see if you and I had the same response or maybe a little bit different. Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: And for those of you listening, put your hands up, put us in the DM. Like, Do are we crazy in our response? Or is there something that you see that we should be doing that we're not doing? you know, you name it, but here we go. So these are Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: actual headlines. So just brace yourself, buckle up. So Lisa S: Okay. Okay. Lisa Wilson: as measles outbreaks grow in the US, maps and charts show a record number of cases in 2026. What are you gonna do about it? Lisa S: I mean, we have vaccinations, right? Like we've been vaccinated. I mean if you are I mean nothing. Lisa Wilson: So I I got vaccinated, you got vaccinated, that's all we can do about it. So continue. Lisa S: Yeah. Like didn't we do that when we were little? Lisa Wilson: We did, but I have two autoimmune disorders. So I I get Lisa S: Uh-huh. Lisa Wilson: vaccinated for everything all the time. But Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: you know, it doesn't work if nobody else is getting vaccinated. Lisa S: That's true. Lisa Wilson: Right. So that's where the stress for me lives. It's like, okay, but again, I know vaccines are a trigger for a lot of people out there. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: And I'm not telling you that you have to get vaccinated. I'm just telling you that the the data's not looking good. And Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: there's nothing we can do about it. Like there's nothing outside Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: of my wheelhouse I can do other than get vaccinated. And you can choose not to get vaccinated Go lick some doorknobs. Okay, so here's the next one. Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: State Senator responds after chief of staff arrested on federal child's sex trafficking charges. There's been a lot of these, you guys. A lo I had so many Lisa S: It's a bat oof. Lisa Wilson: to pick from. Lisa S: my gosh, anything having to do with hurting children is terrible. it's I can't Lisa Wilson: Yeah, it's fucking awful. But what can we do about it? Lisa S: vote differently. I don't know. Lisa Wilson: I mean, so I re again, I'm a Gen X, or you're a Gen X, or I remember when pedophiles were bad and nobody was in favor of pedophilia or bestiality, but that seems to be changing in this week's news stories. So I I'm just Lisa S: That's awful. Lisa Wilson: I'm gonna stick by continuing to say that if you're a pedophile or a success a sp suspected pedophile, you should be banned from serving public office. You should Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: be in jail. So this one I know is is a favorite. I will tell you that my sister in law, who I know is listening, woke up at like five in the morning and was like, Did you see this? And I'm like, Lisa S: No Lisa Wilson: No, like what do you I know? So anthro anthropic researcher believes more than 10% chance AI could kill all humans. Okay, well cat's out of the bag. Lisa S: We all signed up to Claude. So Lisa Wilson: You and I the other day were kind of like and I know listen, this is another trigger point. So first of all, unless we go complete blackout worldwide, Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: there's nothing we can do about the AI problem. We are where we are. And unless we literally cut off electricity and go back to living in the dark with candlelight, there's nothing stopping it. Like it, I just don't see another solution. two, Lisa S: They've gotta find a way that'll rein it in. Lisa Wilson: Absolutely. Right. But again, what am I supposed to do about it? Lisa S: I mean, I don't know if we can necessarily do anything just us singularly. It would have to take a huge movement to either pull back or I don't know, but it it's really gotta come from the top. This one's coming from the top. And so Lisa Wilson: Yeah, and even if we all said we're not gonna use AI, do you think that would stop them? Lisa S: No, because this is AI's been around for a long time. I Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: mean, this isn't this isn't anything new. I just think it's more publicly Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: utilized now because it's more accessible. So, Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: but honestly, there's nothing I can physically do about it, but like Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: I also don't want to have that in my head worrying that we're gonna be wiped out in 10 years. Lisa Wilson: Well like I don't wanna be at Target being like, I really need toothpaste, but the robots might kill us first. Do I need to buy it? Lisa S: Right. Should I buy the toothpaste? Should I should I still continue to put s money in my 401K? do we spend all of our money before the decade's over so we can, you know, not leave it to robots? Lisa Wilson: Well, there's there's lots of different ways that people are coping. But like Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: I feel like this is one of those ones where I'm like, okay, yeah, and like this is not news. It wasn't news to me when I heard it. And we all saw Terminator. We know how we know how it ends up. We all knew we were going down this path. And yet here we are, we we have a government that, you know, does not is not gonna do anything to save us. They are very pro business. And Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: These guys have a bunch of money. They so much money. Lisa S: this was a topic that was made me lose some sleep over because Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: I but again, there's nothing I can do about it. Lisa Wilson: Start digging that apocalypse hole. That's all we can do. Lisa S: Yeah. Buy that bunker. Lisa Wilson: If you can afford it. So the next one is there are men publicly calling for the repeal of women's right to vote. Lisa S: Wow. That's Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: actually terrible. Lisa Wilson: So listen, here's here I've thought a lot about a very clear and distinct Lisa S: The hell? Lisa Wilson: way to say what I think about this. So Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: for women to personally be propagating, to give up their own right to vote, which has been happening Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: at turning point specifically, Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: go to any of the big conventions. There's a whole bunch of women standing in line waiting to tell the camera that they think their husband should be in charge. That to me is like a fish jumping on the hook because it's just too hard to swim around the ocean by themselves. They just want they just want to be feed the fishermen to at least serve a purpose. Lisa S: I mean it could be I mean that's that's a pretty strong allegation right there. Lisa Wilson: To me, that's what that means. That means you're like, and I'll I'll Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: just give you guys some real life facts. Like out of all of these horrible things that I hear every day, the one Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: that literally makes me want to take to the streets is Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: people taking away my bodily autonomy and people trying to take away my right to vote. If you guys don't think that's a serious threat, look at Iran. Google Google some pictures of women in Iran in the 70s Like we eventually have to stop being so apathetic stop hoping for the best. Because they're coming for us. Lisa S: Yeah. Well, I mean, you know, you and I don't normally like to get into politics or anything like that. Lisa Wilson: Mm mm, no. Lisa S: but I do feel like that is the beauty of living in America, is our rights and our and and the rights that so many people before us have fought for. Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Yep. Lisa S: And so to to start to go backwards is really, I think, kind of concerning to me because I want to be able to live to leave this world eventually one day Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: to my grandkids much better than it was when I was growing up. Lisa Wilson: Yep. Lisa S: And if we're if we digress, then I don't I don't think we're gonna get there. So but I mean the world's ending in 10 years anyway, so yeah. It's Lisa Wilson: I mean, if even that long, they're they're moving pretty quick. So I mean, maybe we don't have to worry about any of this. Maybe we you know, we'll be fine. again, hope is hope hope is not a strategy, but you know, it's all we've got. Lisa S: True, Lisa Wilson: So and of course, you guys, there are things we could all do to move and impact change. but that's not what the show is about. The show is really like, okay, I've done all those things and nothing is nothing is happening. So if you're there right now at home being like, I just said that, we see you. Like we we get Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: it. so my theme of this this week has been, well, the world is on fire, but dinner still is six. Lisa S: Yeah, that's what you we have to do. What else are you gonna do? Are you gonna be like in fetal position? I mean, you could, absolutely, Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: because some of these things are pretty heavy and they have been heavy for a while, right? It's not Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: like it's not like it just happened last Tuesday. But what are you gonna do? Lisa Wilson: Yeah. But I mean, what are you gonna do about it? Right. And I I I can feel in my heart that someone out there is just shouting at the top of their lungs, like what we can do about it. But if you guys don't put it in the chat, we're not gonna hear you. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: I got news for you. Like we're empathetic, we're not psychic, so make sure you put it in the chat. like I look at women now and I'm like, are you a good witch or a bad witch? Lisa S: Ha ha ha. Lisa Wilson: Like I do, cause cause I I don't assume anymore. I don't assume anymore Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: that like you're not just gonna come up and be like, I don't think women should be able to vote. And then Lisa's gonna yank me back my my collar and we're gonna leave TGI Fridays before things Lisa S: Ha ha ha. Lisa Wilson: get ugly. Lisa S: I think again, we are two very independent women. Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: We're not asking for anything other than just to have the same right as another gender. That's it. As a human, yeah. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: As humans, as human beings, all humans should really have the same rights and and things. But listen, like and so at the top of the show, I talked about the fact that villains are having their moment. And I mean, just look at Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: the headlines. they are they are winning in 2026. And I would be able to like tolerate that a little bit better, I think, if I didn't see so many women like opening the door for them. Be like, here you Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: go, villain. Would you like a more comfortable seat? Would you like my seat? Can I get you a drink? What would you like for dinner? so listen, this show is not dragging women. I love women. I love all women. I love the fact Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: that we all are able still living in a country where we're able to have a podcast and talk about whatever we want to talk about without the Gestapo showing up. we're Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: being reported. I don't know why anybody would ever sign up to be less than the person next to them. But I feel like Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: there's just so much hypocrisy around all of these different things, right? Like Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: men are saying that, well, okay, women are emotional. They're emotionally driven. So because they're so emotional, they shouldn't be allowed to vote. Well, the last time I checked, 97% of homicides were committed by men. That's emotion. Lisa S: Yeah, that is true. Lisa Wilson: So then the second thing that's caught like this whole like the theme. Is do as Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: I say, not as I do, which is kind of rampant right now, and all of these Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: horrible things that are happening. So Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: I found a story that just really kind of exemplified it. And I was like, What? So if you Lisa S: Ha ha ha. Lisa Wilson: guys like again, I'm terminally online clearly. If you're not online a lot, you're somebody who's like, I can't watch the news because it's killing me, I get it. But this is like Lisa, this is a true story though. This really happened. So Germany. Elected for the first time since World War II Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: a far-right political party. So the party itself they're anti-LGBTQ, they're anti-immigration. They believe that marriage should be only between a man and a woman, like all those traditional values nonsense. Lisa S: Okay. It's conservative values, right? Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: Conservative values, but listen to the the person who is basically one of the national co-leaders of this movement is Alice Weidel She Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: is an open lesbian, partnered with a woman from Sri Lanka, raising two adopted children and lives in Sweden, not Germany. Lisa S: How is that possible? Lisa Wilson: You tell me, man. Like this is this is the part where Lisa S: Hmm. Lisa Wilson: you guys like, I'm not understanding why we just I mean, it's all so bad all the time. We've all kind of stopped asking questions. Lisa S: Maybe that's what it is. We're just numb. Maybe we're Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: just like and I think a lot of times too, like I don't know if it's clickbait or not. I don't know because I don't watch the news. Never watch the news. I shut the news off twenty years ago. Lisa Wilson: But let's talk about that for a second, because I know that Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: like there's a lot of people like you, Lisa, that are like, I'm not, I don't wanna know. think there's that's a very healthy perspective. You're like, I can't do anything about it, I don't wanna know about it. All right. Lisa S: Well, okay. So I don't watch because yes, I can't do anything about it, but like it's depressing. I don't watch a news channel ever, ever, ever. Any kind of news outlet ever, ever, ever. I mean, I remember when the pandemic broke out, I had no Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: idea. Like, I had no idea that it anything was even coming because I don't Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: watch the news. And I remember being in a meeting and people were talking about, yeah, did you see that Costco has their water's out, toilet papers out. I'm like, why? And they're like, have where have you been for like weeks living under a rock? I'm like, I just don't watch the news. So thanks for filling me in. but like at the end of the day, if it's but you can't believe everything you see on social media for sure. Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: And so that's my news channel at this point. So I I have to fact check check through you. Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: To be like, is this for real for real? And you know what? Nine times out of ten, it is. but again, if I wouldn't have seen it, I I would have been the same acting the same as I do right now, doing nothing. Even Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa S: so, why watch it? Like, if you're not gonna do anything about it, you just feel like you need to be informed of all these horrible things that are going on. Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: I mean. I guess more power to you. I don't know why. Lisa Wilson: I mean, but so I'm always online all the time. You're never Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: really online, like for news stuff. I don't watch the Lisa S: Yeah, I know. Lisa Wilson: news either because I don't believe a word they say. But I do do a lot of independent news. Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: but again, that's just some dude with a microphone. I don't know if they've fact checked everything. I don't know if there's any like credible journalism happening anymore. So Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: do I just watch K pop videos most of the time? Yeah. Yeah, I do. Lisa S: I think me too. It's the only thing Lisa Wilson: But I feel like Lisa S: that keeps me out of that void that dark void. Lisa Wilson: all of us are out here, all these wonderful women, regardless of where you're at on the good witch, bad witch spectrum, I Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: feel like you are doing your very best. But I think when the world feels as unstable as it does right now, in my lifetime, I have never seen this, and I am seeing it at an all-time high. So Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: two different ways. And I think one of these ways, you'll be like, You're doing that. Like, yes, I am. So comfort watching, so comfort murder shows, like like Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: forensic files. Dateline, like they're Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: seeing a surge of viewers because people need to see a beginning, middle, and an end. They need to know Lisa S: Okay. Hmm. Lisa Wilson: that the bad guy gets caught, right? Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: So there's like they're like losing themselves in comfort murder shows. Like, and they're watching Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: not one season, not two season but it's like 24/7 Like Lisa S: Wow. Lisa Wilson: it's how they're like self-soothing. is like these Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: types of shows, which I thought was really interesting. Now listen Lisa S: That is interesting because that's exactly where I ran away from. When things started to feel a little chaotic, I was like, I'm out. I can't, I don't have the capacity to like take any of that in. So I Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: left like crime TV. Lisa Wilson: Yeah. I think that there's a whole thing about, Lisa S: Far away. Lisa Wilson: like, and again, we're not doctors. We're we're Lisa S: No. Lisa Wilson: not T V engineer people, but I think there's something to people escaping into Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: like like mo like I believe at any moment behind that tree someone could jump out to try to murder me. That's the way I was raised. So Lisa S: Hehehe Lisa Wilson: most people though don't think that way. Check underneath there, always. most people though are not raised that way. So they look at this Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: as like someone else's life that could never happen to me, which is the way Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: every one of those start, by the way. But that's okay. So Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: like it's like escapism. You Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: know what I mean? And again, that whole like beginning, middle, end, everything gets resolved. And there's like comfort in that, you know? So yeah, I thought it was good. Lisa S: Okay, I can see that. Okay. Lisa Wilson: And then the other one is my very favorite. Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: So and this is something again, I just I knew happened during like the Great Depression, but Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: but there's the preppers. So Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: you guys, I'm not talking about like honest to God, like preppers. Like end of world is coming. We have a bunker, we're heavily Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: armed, we are all trained in self-defense, right? I'm Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: talking about the elementary school teacher who used to spend their nights reading lesson plans are now learning how to reset a bone on YouTube. Lisa S: Ha ha. Lisa Wilson: Right. And they're hoarding medical supplies. I'm talking about the soccer Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: moms that are like hoarding rubbing alcohol and aspirin. Right? I'm talking Lisa S: Mm, mm. Lisa Wilson: about and you know, everyone's got like an Aunt Jilly or an Aunt Mabel or an Aunt Mary. Well, Aunt Mary, Lisa S: Mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: you think everything's fine, you walk in, you're like, it's it smells terrific. I can't wait to have dinner. And she's could you go down to the basement and grab me a bottle of Pam? And you're like, sure. So you go down Lisa S: Ha ha Lisa Wilson: to the basement, you open the door, and Aunt Mary's got floor to ceiling, wall to wall bottles of water. Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: To where like you're squeezing in to fit and you're like, what is going on here? And you're like, Aunt Mary, where's the paint? Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: Right, but like I think that this is this whole movement. Have you seen this, Lisa? Lisa S: So the other day, it's funny that you asked that because the other day I was so shocked. There's this lady that I follow online and she's an intuitive. she gives you kind of a I don't know, updates on on some of her readings and things like that. And the and almost the entire episode or clip was about we need to start prepping. We need to have enough, you know, food for at least three months and then blah blah blah. And then there was like this 18-month time period. And I was really surprised. I was like, am I being punked? Because it's not her normal content, but she was talking about it and talking about, you know, needing water and we're not gonna have electricity, all these like doomsday things. And I was like, what is going on? I was having a hair treatment yesterday and I was talking to the lady and she started talking about it too. And so I'm like, there must be a thing that people are because I think some of her clients are talking about it. And Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: so she was kind of talking about it and she was like I mean, maybe I could survive for X amount of time, but I don't know if I could survive for this amount of time. And I'm like, are we really thinking about it? 'Cause like I was raised with the prepper I mean, are we really talking about this right now? Lisa Wilson: Yeah, we are. And it's like Lisa S: Because I was Lisa Wilson: it's like PTA mom vibes. It's not like military vibes. Like when we were younger and we saw Lisa S: Yeah. No, it's like Lisa Wilson: like preppers on TV, there's like like the gorilla, the militia. But these are like soccer moms. Lisa S: Yeah, And I was like, wow, because like the religion I was raised in, the environment I was raised in, the communication that was always out to the people, was that we had to be prepared. You had to prep so tons of food, you know, food storage and spend all your extra money on barrels of flour and barrels of wheat that would always go bad. You never used a lot of this food. some of the conversations that I'm seeing like people have lately has been that same vibe of fear. Like, you know, we need to start growing our own food. Well, okay, but if we don't have water, then how are we going to like it's gonna die? Lisa Wilson: You're gonna go to Aunt Mary's You're gonna go to Aunt Mary's house and get her water. Lisa S: Well, she's got some water. But I mean, yeah, I was like, okay, that's out. If we run out of electricity, how are we gonna do this, you know? Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: And I'm like, should I I mean, I have like a case of bottled water in like I just I don't I could maybe last a week. Lisa Wilson: So listen, this is how we're we're also different, is I have a case of salt in case I have a haunting. A true story. I don't have any water, but I got cases of salt for the demons that might come after us. So I have one of my very, very favorite people on this planet Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: is someone who is kind of stuck in these doom scroll scenarios, meaning Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: like everything, everybody sucks, we're all gonna die, no one's coming to save us. The end mic drop, right? So their idea of how they're coping. is to come up with strategies. So like Lisa S: Trait. Lisa Wilson: they have canned food, they have MREs, they've got water, they've got flashlights with or they've got battery packs plugged all over their house so that they'll have that. And they were talking about how they were gonna they wanted to get a huge plot of land and grow vegetables so that you know there would be a food supply and we could all go there and co-locate. Lisa S: Okay. Okay. That's very normal. Lisa Wilson: And I was like, okay, but here's the deal. If it's the end times, we've all Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: seen American Horror Story Apocalypse. And if you have not, you must run out and watch it. Lisa S: Ha ha ha. Lisa Wilson: Cause A, it's fucking great. But B, there's someone's just gonna come and take your land. Someone more a bigger group of more heavily armed, more vicious are gonna come Lisa S: I'm just gonna come and take your food. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: and take your stuff and then make you work the land for them as slaves. Like That is the human condition in apocalypse-like scenario. I would love to say like that would not happen. But when I brought that up, it was like the light dimmed in their eyes, right? Cause like that Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: was, that was their plan. And I just shot it to shit. So I don't, Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: I don't think it's about prepping. I think it's about control, like having a coping mechanism to where Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: it gives them that they have the illusion they're in control of the uncontrollable. Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: That's the only way they're able to get through it. Lisa S: Well, my I mean, I can totally agree with that. I think for me though, like I was saying yesterday, during my treatment, I was like, Well, you know, cause she was saying like what she would do with her family and Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: and I'm like, I'm just I'm walking right into the line of fire. I'm out. I'm out. I'd be like, This has been great, like, but I'm not about to suffer and I'm not gonna suffer with my child. I just Lisa Wilson: Nope. Lisa S: we're not I'm not gonna watch him suffer. Lisa Wilson: Nope. Lisa S: So we're just gonna we're walking straight into the to the sun. we're out. Lisa Wilson: So Lisa, Like that is one thing that you and I first we're Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: gonna play Possum to see Lisa S: Okay, what's that? Lisa Wilson: if anybody will like leave us alone long enough. Possum, we're gonna play dead. Lisa S: play dead. Okay. Lisa Wilson: And if that doesn't work, we're gonna go right, we're gonna walk right into the cloud and we're both gonna die. Because Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: I don't wanna fight for the death over band aids at CVS. Lisa S: Well, no, and I don't want to have to try to worry about if I need medicine for my child and I can't get it. I can't I I don't think I could I don't think I could physically do that. But I also I'm not prepared and I don't have Lisa Wilson: Mm-hmm. Lisa S: a bunker and I don't have enough food storage to feed me and other families in my neighborhood because I'd want to help everyone, of course. Lisa Wilson: But like, so so this brings us to like what I want to really kind of get Lisa S: Mm mm. Lisa Wilson: underneath the skin here, which is so what do we do about it? Which is how Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: are we like so many women out there who We believe that everything that's wrong with the world is something that is somehow our responsibility. Whether it's Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: just immediate circle or the whole universe, you really believe that, like, I think that's why women are mad and raging against the machine and why we're doing all of those things, because like we can't control it, right? Like if you're Lisa S: Mm mm. Lisa Wilson: not prepping, you're not watching murder shows. You're not you're you've got to do something. So my line is I can only help those people immediately around me. So I can't do anything Lisa S: Trans. Lisa Wilson: about all these people, millions of people that don't have enough food or water or electricity, all these horrible things. People getting shoved in cages, people getting Hijacked I can't do anything about any of these things. What I Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: can do is make sure that my people are okay. Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: Right? So do my people have enough food? Do my people have gas in their car? Do my Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: people have enough money to buy groceries for themselves and their families this week? Do my people Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: need money to take their pet to the vet? I have to get through every day, right? And although I'm getting Lisa S: True. That's true. Lisa Wilson: bombarded every single day by all of this stuff, I can't do anything about it, but I can help my people. So that's what I'm focused on. That's how I try to like figure out like, okay, I can't, I can't do anything for all of you, and I'm really sorry about it, but I can make sure that my friend has gas in their car to get to work this week. Lisa S: Mm-hmm. That's fair. very, very nice. Lisa Wilson: Well, and that's that's how I have coped. So I have enough Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: water to get me through tomorrow. Lisa S: Yeah. my gosh. Well, I think for me, I have to be able Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: to manage all of this download inf of information for my child because they have access to the internet. They have access to, you know, a lot of things. they have access to a lot of things that we didn't have access to when we were growing up. So Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: so for them, we have to help manage like what they're ingesting and what they Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: think is real. And I mean, again, frontal lobe, not processed yet. Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: not fully formed. So I think for them they can come to me or, you know, go to a parent or whatever and say, my gosh, did you know this? Lisa Wilson: I'll just send Lisa S: I mean, but honestly, it's they don't because they don't watch TV. They're not watching the news. So they don't even have Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: another another way. Their form of news and what's happening and what's real and what's legitimate is online. So whoever they've chosen to follow, whoever whatever their algorithm looks like, Lisa Wilson: Mm. Lisa S: is now what they're being fed. So Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: I think that's where I have to kind of try to fact check a little bit. Too, and you know, some things that my son will bring up like, did you know that this happened? And I was like, show me the video, or like, where did you see that? Where did you hear that? And then I'll watch it and I'm like, some of these, some of these videos are really good though. Some of them, these AI ones generated ones look so real, but Lisa Wilson: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Lisa S: it's not real at all. So then it's it's kind of like they're being fed history that maybe never happened, or they're being fed current events that aren't. really happening, or there also could be fed just mistruths by whoever happened to be in their algorithm because of who they're following or what or what they're doing. So I just think that that has become like a whole other side of me trying to like You don't you you're not gonna know unless you ask, and you're not gonna know unless you're present, and you're not gonna know unless you have some kind of idea of of what they're being fed. But Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: it's kind of a it's kind of just a new a new threat, I think. For me, for me it's a threat because I all I don't feel like we kind of have control over it. And I know I could always do better, but I don't want him thinking we're dying tomorrow. He doesn't Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: though. He's pretty level headed. He's a chill, cool Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: kid. It's that's not worrying him. But I I don't want him to be worried about things he doesn't need to be worried about either. That are not real. Lisa Wilson: So single mom single mom versus the apocalypse fact check. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: Like I think that's I mean it's that simple. Cause I really Yeah, Lisa S: But you also have to have conversations too. Lisa Wilson: you're right, yeah. Lisa S: Like you gotta have conversations because there's some things that I didn't even know he had seen or watched or whatever. And again, there's clearly there can always be parental controls, but even friends can communicate false things and then you believe your friends. And so then that's gotta be Bible, right? Like Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: it's it's gotta be true. So Lisa Wilson: Such a good point. Lisa S: I just think that we have to stay in constant communication and like, you know, ensure that they're not going down that route of sitting and watching, you know, destructive videos all day or, Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: you know, the all the negative things, violence and things like that. Like some of that stuff isn't, it's not even real. Some of it is real though. Some of it is awful and terrible. Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa S: But they have access to it now where we never did. We were own we only had access to what? The news channel told us was true. And Lisa Wilson: And we weren't watching that, we were watching Mutual of Omaha. Lisa S: PBS. Lisa Wilson: So I do want to ask, do you remember Nostradamus? Okay, so Lisa S: Yeah, mm-hmm, yeah. Lisa Wilson: like that is the version of what they're getting without anybody else around, right? So, like, if you guys don't know what I'm talking about, Nonstradmus is a show that came out in the 80s and Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: basically told us we were all gonna die in 1984 because this psychic dude in the in the dark ages had predicted every event that had ever happened. Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: Like, we don't, we didn't It looked like a documentary. So we like Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: when we were little kids, we thought it we thought it was absolutely true. I remember Lisa, I had a I had a countdown calendar. Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: And I had that calendar for like three years where I Lisa S: Awful. Lisa Wilson: would mark off every day. I'm like, I didn't die today. And I was like 10. Lisa S: I woke up. It's gonna be a good day. Lisa Wilson: Right? So like like that is the equivalent of what they're getting now. Like they don't know the difference, right? So I still can't watch that show, by the way. If it's Lisa S: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa Wilson: on TV, nope. Lisa S: Okay, but how many of us thought the Blair Witch project was actually real? Because we were told it was real. I did. And I didn't sleep for weeks. I was Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Yeah. Lisa S: just like, this is literally gonna happen to me. Like, don't just I just would wake up in the middle of the night and swear I saw somebody's face in a corner, like Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: in my bedroom. Like, freaked the freak, freaked Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: out. But it was we were fed. We were fed and we ate it up and Lisa Wilson: Yep. We sure did. Lisa S: It became yeah, something I'll never forget. Sleep forever. Lisa Wilson: But I mean, speaking of like stuff that sounds like fake news that it was not fake Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: news. So this story came up this week and I was like, this has gotta be fake. Okay, it's not. So Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: 30 robots showed up outside a government ministry in Poland to protest AI taking human jobs. Lisa S: That can't be real. No. For real? Lisa Wilson: It is real. It is real. I I fact checked it. Or at least ChatGPT did, But listen, the whole point of our podcast, if you guys haven't read our seen our channel or if you haven't been on our Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: YouTube channel, you might not have seen it. It's basically to find we spend a lot of time not talking about all this hard stuff because we Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: do that all the time anyway. But our whole goal is to try to find a high five in this hot mess world. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: Right. And so we've talked about different ways that we cope with all of the negativity Lisa S: Mm-mm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: that's coming in 247 right now. But how are you self-soothing? Lisa S: I think through through social media and music. Definitely my new favorite, my new favorite pastime. I am absolutely 100% going down a rabbit hole of positive output. Period, the end. I I cannot. Handle one more negative thing coming at me. Like there's even some podcasts I can't even listen to anymore because they're so they're just a little deeper than I can even. I I just don't even have it here that I don't have Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: the capacity here to like absorb it. And like it Lisa Wilson: Yeah, I get that. Lisa S: I mean, so I I I had to like walk away from some podcasts that I used to listen to all the time. And the only music I'm listening to is. legit on repeat right now, as you know, is BTS. They make me happy. Going Lisa Wilson: Mm-hmm. Yep. Lisa S: down a rabbit hole of history is making me happy. I'm just I'm in my own K pop world. I'm totally fine with it. starting K dramas because I had not done that be yet. But Lisa Wilson: that I mean Lisa S: That's what I'm doing because I I don't have capacity for anything deep. Lisa Wilson: Yeah. So I normally self-soothe by doing like massages or pedicure. You guys, there's Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: not enough spa treatments in the world for me right now. Like I would have to be I would have to live full time in a spa. Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: And it still would make me feel better. And we've talked about that. We're like when what you've always done doesn't work anymore. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: And so I have I've started some devious visualization and it's really helping. So What I mean by that Lisa S: Hmm. Lisa Wilson: is it's gonna sound real dark, but listen, it works. So use it, don't use it. It's up to you. So I love to plot, as you know. I'm I love to Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: plot the demise of my enemies as like a hobby. And I have this shower gel from Lush that I buy that I bought, then I'm I'm I bought like six bottles of it. And I'm down Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: to like two bottles. And the reason I bought it is that when you use it, it looks like blood. Like it's literally it was they it came out at Halloween. So it looks like your Lisa S: What Lisa Wilson: cut looks like Carrie. So I pretend I'm showering the blood of my enemies. Like old timey. I do. I Lisa S: My gosh, Lisa. Lisa Wilson: do do. And I'm like, yeah, fuckers. And it makes me feel so much better. And then the other one, which is the other Lisa S: Lisa, stop. Is this for real? Is this for real for real? Lisa Wilson: Yes, I'll put a picture of it up so you guys can see it. Lisa S: No don't. Lisa Wilson: A hundred percent. It's real and I absolutely love it. It makes me feel like Lisa S: That movie car that movie Carrie is traumatizing. Lisa Wilson: Nope, it makes me feel like a warrior queen. Like I'm in charge. I'm also the one that did an image of me as an assassin from my screensaver on my phone. I'll put that picture up too. but listen, the other one, which is like, and I Lisa S: Which is true too, which is true too. Lisa Wilson: don't even know where this came from. I don't know where I channeled this from or why it's happening, but I'll be like in a deep meditative state, right? Lisa S: Okay. Lisa Wilson: Where I'm like doing my visualization and I imagine myself biting into the heart of an enemy. And blood is just falling down my mouth, and I'm like, Yeah Lisa S: Lisa! Lisa Wilson: yes, it's very violent, and I don't know why, I don't know where it's Lisa S: Like Lisa For real? Lisa Wilson: But it makes me feel a lot better, Lisa. It makes me feel like okay. Lisa S: Hey, do what you gotta do. Why I'm riding a rainbow over here singing poppy songs and watching reruns of Run BTS and Are You Sure? You're over there biting through hearts and Lisa Wilson: Hello. Lisa S: showering in fake blood. I mean, that Lisa Wilson: B Lisa S: is that is literally our different personalities, exactly a hundred percent. Lisa Wilson: It is. It is, but it look, it makes me feel better. Lisa S: You swung the pendulum this way. When things started Lisa Wilson: I did. Lisa S: to get rough, you were like, let's just go there. Let's go. We're going hard. We're going deep. Lisa Wilson: I mean, let's like, why not? Right? Like, let's let's figure that out. So, like, you guys and I can't wait to put Lisa S: my god. Lisa Wilson: the pictures up so you guys can actually see that I'm literally not lying. but like I just feel like it's the only thing that's working for me. It's the only thing that's turning the Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: volume down on all of the animosity that I'm carrying around and the hostility that I'm carrying around. And I think that there, and I've seen lots of different posts. I know. The women all across the board, regardless of if you're a good witch or a bad witch, you're upset and you're yelling, right? And I Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: get it. Lisa gets it. We talk about Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: it. But there's only so much that we can do. And so Lisa, let's answer our question. Lisa S: Mm mm mm. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: There's a ton of terrible things happening to women. There's a ton of terrible things happening to kids. So just terrible, horrible, horrible news. Worst case scenario all over the place. Lisa S: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: But do you think like, what are we gonna do about it? Lisa S: I mean, I would have to say I I I can only control myself and how and what my reaction is. And my reaction is to literally shut down and literally shut down and like try to be happy. I I mean that's the only thing I can do. And Lisa Wilson: Yeah. Lisa S: and what what about you? Lisa Wilson: So I control only what I can control. I help Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: my people. I make sure my immediate people are okay. I try to remember that this really is the villain era. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: And for whatever reason, the universe has made this happen, you know, Lisa S: Mm-hmm. Lisa Wilson: and the universe what goes up must come down. And Lisa S: Yes. Lisa Wilson: what goes down must come up. Those are the facts of life. So Lisa S: Mm. Lisa Wilson: I just keep myself focused on what I can control. Lisa S: I'm gonna try to continue to raise the vibration. That's what I'm gonna try to do. Because that's and there you go, and and Lisa Wilson: Yep. I'm gonna eat the hearts of my enemies. I mean, you know, we're gonna we're but you know what? The world Lisa S: Happy Thursday Lisa Wilson: needs us both. All right. Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: So, guys, if you're listening to us, What are you doing to self-soothe? Like, what are you doing to get through it? We want to hear about it. Make sure you put it in YouTube channel chat. Whatever. Well, you can get us anywhere. but we definitely want to hear about it because, you know, we get there together or not at all. Right? So we gotta, Lisa S: Yep. Yep. Lisa Wilson: we gotta lean on each other. There's no more time, there's no more room for crabs in a bucket. You know, we gotta Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: help each other out of the bucket if we want to get any farther. So with that, you guys remember to hydrate. Remember to roll your shoulders back. Remember to unclench your jaw, maybe build a badass bug out space. Right? Lisa S: Why not? Lisa Wilson: And then go high five somebody. Go try to Lisa S: Yeah. Lisa Wilson: make it an amazing positive week. All right. Have a great week, guys. Thank you so much. Bye. Lisa S: Yeah. Have a great week. Thank you. Bye.
