- 0:00Speaker 1: Fly from Midtown Manhattan.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Here comes the Mark Simone Show on seven to ten.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Wr Hey, it's Monday.
- 0:10Speaker 4: We'll give you the inside story and a lot of stuff.
- 0:13Speaker 4: We'll give you all the latest Iran Crazy mom Dnni,
- 0:17Speaker 4: Tom Holman, Cash Betel, the Pope and the White House
- 0:21Speaker 4: correspondents dinner coming up this week, and a whole lot
- 0:24Speaker 4: more to get to. So Iran, Let's just explain what's
- 0:29Speaker 4: really going on here? Why the mixed signals. The strait
- 0:34Speaker 4: is open, the strait is closed, the war is over,
- 0:37Speaker 4: the war is on. They agree to all our demands,
- 0:40Speaker 4: they don't agree to all. Here's what's really going on.
- 0:42Speaker 4: There are two factions now. Iran is in the middle
- 0:45Speaker 4: of a bit of a civil war. There are two factions.
- 0:47Speaker 4: There's the political leadership that we are negotiating with, and
- 0:52Speaker 4: those negotiations will continue today Pakistan Islamabad. The American team
- 0:59Speaker 4: led by Wikoff Jared back on a plane to Pakistan
- 1:03Speaker 4: as we speak. They'll be negotiating there. Here's the problem.
- 1:06Speaker 4: We're negotiating with the leadership, the political leadership. However, there's
- 1:11Speaker 4: another faction, and that's the Republican Guard, the real hardliner military.
- 1:18Speaker 4: There's a regular army, and there's a Republican Guard that's
- 1:21Speaker 4: the vicious hardliner killer troops. They are in control of
- 1:27Speaker 4: the weapons, they're in control of that stuff. So they're
- 1:30Speaker 4: still fighting while the political leadership is trying to settle.
- 1:34Speaker 4: Now this will have to get worked out among the
- 1:36Speaker 4: two factions in Iran. Who's really who or we will
- 1:41Speaker 4: have to work with the leadership of Iran and help
- 1:44Speaker 4: kill off that Republican Guard. The straight the blockade was very,
- 1:49Speaker 4: very successful. Not a single ship got through that blockade.
- 1:53Speaker 4: One Iranian ship tried to get through that blockade. We
- 1:57Speaker 4: fired on it immediately, the first few shots completely, just
- 2:00Speaker 4: able to took out the engine. We then seized the
- 2:02Speaker 4: ship and took it. Ran going nuts saying it's international
- 2:08Speaker 4: piracy or whatever they were claiming, armed piracy they claimed.
- 2:11Speaker 4: But the blockade is absolutely holding. What Iran has left,
- 2:17Speaker 4: we've taken out almost all of their military, have taken
- 2:20Speaker 4: out their navy, we've taken out their air force, We've
- 2:22Speaker 4: taken out most of their offense. All they have left
- 2:25Speaker 4: to screw up the straits with or what are called
- 2:27Speaker 4: mosquito the mosquito fleet. They're called mosquito boats. They're little
- 2:31Speaker 4: tiny boats. Loaded with explosives along the coast. They'll come
- 2:36Speaker 4: out of a cave or they'll come out of a
- 2:38Speaker 4: hiding place. And these little mosquito boats filled with explosives
- 2:42Speaker 4: are quite annoying. They can't really do a lot of damage,
- 2:46Speaker 4: but they can go hit a ship, blow a hole
- 2:49Speaker 4: in it, or not really sink a ship. But the
- 2:51Speaker 4: little mosquito boats are annoying enough to it's not so
- 2:55Speaker 4: much scaring the tankers, it's scaring the insurance company right now.
- 3:00Speaker 4: If nothing goes through the strait of Hermose, it's because
- 3:03Speaker 4: of the insurance company, which is mostly Lloyd's of London.
- 3:07Speaker 4: The tankers can't move unless they have insurance. You don't
- 3:10Speaker 4: want to lose the tanker. It's millions and millions and
- 3:13Speaker 4: millions of dollars. So if Lloyd's won't okay the insurance,
- 3:18Speaker 4: they don't move in right now with these little annoying
- 3:21Speaker 4: mosquito boats, Lloyd's is holding up assurance on most of
- 3:24Speaker 4: those tankers. So that's the only reason it's stopped. If
- 3:26Speaker 4: we have to close the strait again, totally blockade it
- 3:29Speaker 4: and stop it, it's actually pretty good for us. It's
- 3:34Speaker 4: very bad for Europe. We don't need the straight of
- 3:37Speaker 4: Horror moves. We don't take any oil from there. We
- 3:39Speaker 4: don't need that oil, we don't use it. But Europe
- 3:42Speaker 4: depends on it, and China heavily depends on that oil.
- 3:46Speaker 4: So as long as the Strait is closed, we're doing well.
- 3:49Speaker 4: China is in a problem. They're running out of oil
- 3:53Speaker 4: and Europe's in a serious situation because they're heavily dependent
- 3:56Speaker 4: on that oil. In fact, with the blockade that we've
- 4:00Speaker 4: had and the problems in the Strait the last few weeks,
- 4:03Speaker 4: Europe is just about out of jet fuel. They got
- 4:06Speaker 4: like five weeks of jet fuel left, which might stop
- 4:09Speaker 4: air travel over there, so that kind of stuff. Now
- 4:13Speaker 4: we have more oil. We're the biggest oil supplier on Earth.
- 4:17Speaker 4: We make more oil every day than Saudi Arabia than anybody,
- 4:21Speaker 4: so we can supply the whole world. They don't want
- 4:24Speaker 4: to do it, but they would have to start buying
- 4:26Speaker 4: us oil. Europe could do that, China could do that.
- 4:30Speaker 4: Now here's the other problem. Because of all this, the
- 4:32Speaker 4: European Union is in huge financial crisis at the moment.
- 4:37Speaker 4: They need about forty or fifty billion to keep going.
- 4:40Speaker 4: They're on the verge of collapse, they're going to probably
- 4:43Speaker 4: come to the US and beg for money, beg for
- 4:46Speaker 4: a quick loan the European Union to keep going. We'll
- 4:51Speaker 4: probably give it to them, because if we don't give
- 4:53Speaker 4: it to them, they'll go to China and try to
- 4:54Speaker 4: get the money from them. That kind of alliance we
- 4:58Speaker 4: don't really need, so we'll probably end up having to
- 5:00Speaker 4: finance them through this crisis. So once this is settled again,
- 5:05Speaker 4: the political leadership of Iran, that's who we're negotiating with,
- 5:07Speaker 4: they'll have to somehow with our help, get the Republican
- 5:12Speaker 4: Guard in line. They're the only ones keeping this war going.
- 5:16Speaker 4: So we'll see how that goes. And then if it's settled,
- 5:21Speaker 4: if it ends, all that's left is collecting the nuclear material.
- 5:26Speaker 4: It's stored in a number of places. Now. One of
- 5:29Speaker 4: the problems a lot of that nuclear material is in
- 5:32Speaker 4: those nuclear reactors that we bombed and blew up months ago.
- 5:37Speaker 4: And it's basically that's why Trump calls it nuclear dust.
- 5:40Speaker 4: It's basically under that rubble, it's nuclear dust. Under the rubble,
- 5:44Speaker 4: it can be collected. It's a little difficult, it's like
- 5:47Speaker 4: an engineering feat to go through that rubble. And get
- 5:50Speaker 4: the nuclear stuff out of there. And then there's a
- 5:52Speaker 4: couple other places we believe they're storing some nuclear material.
- 5:56Speaker 4: We'd have to go pick that up. And by the way,
- 5:59Speaker 4: we've done that before. We're very good at it. People
- 6:01Speaker 4: forget we did this in Libya when we beat Kadathi,
- 6:06Speaker 4: in fact that at that point it could be similar
- 6:09Speaker 4: to this. At a certain point Kadafi gave up, surrendered
- 6:13Speaker 4: and agreed to hand over all his nuclear material. We
- 6:17Speaker 4: had to go collect it, and it's the same thing
- 6:20Speaker 4: as the Iran nuclear material. But we were able to
- 6:22Speaker 4: do it. We got teams that know exactly how to
- 6:24Speaker 4: collect it, gather it safely, extract it, and then we
- 6:28Speaker 4: have a technology to destroy it. So we did that
- 6:32Speaker 4: in Libya, we'll do it here. By the way, once
- 6:36Speaker 4: this is all over, what we're going to do about
- 6:39Speaker 4: the Straits of Horror Moose is we're going to build
- 6:42Speaker 4: pipelines that should have been built a long time ago.
- 6:44Speaker 4: They'll be all kinds of pipelines built all over the
- 6:48Speaker 4: place near there, so we never ever again have to
- 6:50Speaker 4: depend on the Strait of or Moose. It's much easier
- 6:52Speaker 4: to move the oil through pipelines. We just never built them,
- 6:55Speaker 4: but the Saudis, most of the countries over there have
- 6:57Speaker 4: agreed to put in these pipelines, so oil will move
- 7:01Speaker 4: that way. There'll be multiple pipelines, will never again have
- 7:04Speaker 4: to depend on the straight of Horn Moose. Nobody will
- 7:06Speaker 4: ever be able to threaten closing it ever again. So
- 7:10Speaker 4: we'll get back to Iran. Mom Donnie, Crazy Mom Donnie,
- 7:16Speaker 4: and crazy NBC boy. They were really trying to help
- 7:19Speaker 4: out Mom Donnie. They gave him a huge, huge spot
- 7:22Speaker 4: on Meet the Press. They made him the star of
- 7:25Speaker 4: the show yesterday. I know I'm the only one that
- 7:27Speaker 4: still watches Meet the Press. I don't know why it
- 7:30Speaker 4: used to be a big, important show, very important show.
- 7:33Speaker 4: It's not. It's got a tiny but boy, were they
- 7:36Speaker 4: buttering up, Mom Donnie. You know, whenever a President Trump
- 7:39Speaker 4: or any Republican is on Meet the Press, they ask
- 7:41Speaker 4: him a question and they pound away at him every
- 7:44Speaker 4: time he tries to answer thousand follow ups. They can
- 7:47Speaker 4: fact check them in every sentence. Every they go, Mom Donnie,
- 7:51Speaker 4: whatever he said, they just bowed and just grew reverential
- 7:56Speaker 4: towards this guy. It was pretty awful watching Meet the Press,
- 8:00Speaker 4: just awful the way it just they they just kissed
- 8:03Speaker 4: his ring. Even when he said things. They got him
- 8:06Speaker 4: on the billionaires, and he's going after all these billionaires.
- 8:10Speaker 4: He thinks it's a good target. You know, you gotta
- 8:11Speaker 4: remember one thing about Mamdani kind of socialism. It's just symbolic.
- 8:15Speaker 4: It's just talk. It can't be reality. You know, free
- 8:18Speaker 4: grocery stores. It sounds great. There's no way on earth
- 8:21Speaker 4: to actually execute that. It can't be done. You will
- 8:24Speaker 4: never see a Mamdani grocery store as long as you live.
- 8:27Speaker 4: It'll never happen. I know he's got a location in Harlem.
- 8:33Speaker 4: It's thirty million to build it. Every major grocery store person,
- 8:37Speaker 4: there's grocery store chains all over they'll tell you it's
- 8:40Speaker 4: normally one million, two million to open a grocery store.
- 8:43Speaker 4: He's talking thirty they're also talking twenty twenty eight, twenty
- 8:46Speaker 4: twenty nine. You'll never see the grocery store. There'll never
- 8:48Speaker 4: be one. So he gets crazy with the symbolism of
- 8:51Speaker 4: the billionaires. It sounds awful, the billionaires. He even goes
- 8:55Speaker 4: on Meet the Press and said, listen to this.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I don't think that we should have billionaires because frankly,
- 9:00Speaker 2: it is so much money in a moment of such inequality,
- 9:04Speaker 2: and ultimately, what we need more of is equality across
- 9:07Speaker 2: our city, and across our state and across our country.
- 9:09Speaker 2: And I look forward to work with everyone, including billionaires,
- 9:13Speaker 2: to make a city that is fairer for.
- 9:15Speaker 4: All of them. Well let's repeat that again.
- 9:17Speaker 2: I don't think that we should have billionaires because, frankly,
- 9:20Speaker 2: it is so much money in a moment.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Well yeah, but it's not like it's not like somebody said, here,
- 9:30Speaker 4: here's five dollars for you, here's ten dollars for you,
- 9:33Speaker 4: here's a billion for you. That's inequality. These billionaires went
- 9:38Speaker 4: out and earned it on their own. They not only
- 9:40Speaker 4: went out and through sheer hard work and diligence and brains,
- 9:44Speaker 4: made a billion dollars. In the process, they created hundreds
- 9:48Speaker 4: of thousands of jobs. They usually, in fact, the only
- 9:51Speaker 4: way you really can become a billionaire provide a great service.
- 9:54Speaker 4: I mean, look at Jeff Bezos. Can imagine if this
- 9:57Speaker 4: guy was not allowed to do what he did, you'd
- 10:00Speaker 4: have no Amazon. How would you get anything. Let's say
- 10:05Speaker 4: all of a sudden, you wanted something, you'd have to
- 10:09Speaker 4: get dressed, go out. Let's say I wanted a book.
- 10:12Speaker 4: You know, I can go to Amazon download right on
- 10:14Speaker 4: my kindle. Half a second later, there's the book. I
- 10:16Speaker 4: can read it right now. You know that you used
- 10:18Speaker 4: to have to leave your house. You had to walk
- 10:21Speaker 4: to Barnes and Noble. Like if you were here, you'd
- 10:23Speaker 4: have to go to sixty seventh in Broadway. That's like
- 10:27Speaker 4: twelve to fifteen blocks. I have to walk over there.
- 10:30Speaker 4: You have to look for the book. You'd have to
- 10:32Speaker 4: wait in line to pay for it. They'd put it
- 10:34Speaker 4: in a bag. You'd have to carry the book home.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Can you imagine your kids today. You don't know how
- 10:39Speaker 4: tough we you had it. You had to go buy
- 10:41Speaker 4: the book, you had to carry it home. Let's say
- 10:44Speaker 4: you went somewhere, you were out to work, you were
- 10:46Speaker 4: on the train, you wanted to read your book. I
- 10:47Speaker 4: forgot to bring it. It's in the kindle. I got
- 10:50Speaker 4: the book wherever I am. So these guys provide tremendous services.
- 10:57Speaker 4: And now some of these Henchwind guys, we don't know
- 10:59Speaker 4: what the hell they ask you do for us. But
- 11:01Speaker 4: I'm talking about what if there was no Steve Jobs,
- 11:06Speaker 4: we wudn't even have this phone. We'd be talking on
- 11:08Speaker 4: a Palm trio, you'd be talking on a BlackBerry. So
- 11:12Speaker 4: you need these billionaires. And again it's talk of a
- 11:17Speaker 4: real discrimination.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I don't think that we should have billionaires because frankly,
- 11:21Speaker 2: it is so much money in a moment.
- 11:23Speaker 4: Of not only that, you wouldn't have democrats in office
- 11:26Speaker 4: if the billionaires fund them. That's where they get all
- 11:28Speaker 4: their money from. These billionaires. Now, there's a guy named
- 11:31Speaker 4: Ken Griffin who's a multi billionaire and he loves real estate,
- 11:37Speaker 4: buys a lot of real estate over there on Central
- 11:41Speaker 4: Park South. He bought an apartment I think was the
- 11:43Speaker 4: most expensive apartment at the time. He spent two hundred
- 11:47Speaker 4: and twenty million for this apartment, two hundred and twenty million.
- 11:53Speaker 4: They doesn't even live there. He lives in Florida. So
- 11:56Speaker 4: you're saying, oh, that's his New York apartment. Well, actually
- 12:00Speaker 4: it's his extra New York apartment because he also lives
- 12:02Speaker 4: at seven forty Park Avenue. That's the most prestigious building
- 12:07Speaker 4: in the world. Some of the biggest names on earth
- 12:09Speaker 4: have been turned down from living in that building. Toughest
- 12:11Speaker 4: co op board. And in that building he has two
- 12:13Speaker 4: apartments cut together. That's about fifty sixty million. I guess
- 12:18Speaker 4: that's the real apartment for New York. But then he
- 12:20Speaker 4: has this one over here, and then the one in
- 12:23Speaker 4: Florida is another two hundred million. It sounds insane, insane.
- 12:26Speaker 4: This is like a billion dollars in real estate. Sounds crazy.
- 12:28Speaker 4: But that guy loves real estate, not a feeling. Deep down.
- 12:33Speaker 4: He's buying it as an investment. He knows it's going
- 12:35Speaker 4: to go way up in value. So a lot of
- 12:37Speaker 4: people think, Mom, Donnie, it's one thing to rail against
- 12:40Speaker 4: these billionaires. But for some reason, he's targeting this guy personally,
- 12:44Speaker 4: this Ken Griffin, and he made one of his viral
- 12:46Speaker 4: videos that's all over the place in front of Ken
- 12:50Speaker 4: Griffin's building on Central Park South pointing at it.
- 12:53Speaker 5: I'm thrilled to announce who secured a peda tear tax,
- 12:56Speaker 5: the first in New York's history. This is an annual
- 12:58Speaker 5: fee on luxury properties where more than five million dollars
- 13:01Speaker 5: whose owners do not live full time in the city,
- 13:04Speaker 5: like for this penthouse, which hetch One CEO Ken Griffin
- 13:07Speaker 5: bought for two hundred and thirty eight million dollars.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Yeah, see, I don't know you're targeting an individually the
- 13:13Speaker 4: mayor of New York. I mean, you don't have to
- 13:15Speaker 4: worry about Ken Griffin. He can take care of himself.
- 13:17Speaker 4: But to target a guy like that, it's pretty bad.
- 13:20Speaker 4: And this mom, Donnie, not only will get nothing done
- 13:23Speaker 4: for anybody, you know. Whatever, these socialists come along to
- 13:25Speaker 4: help the working class, to help the poor, they always
- 13:28Speaker 4: get poor. There's less jobs, there's less money. You know,
- 13:32Speaker 4: you chase these Ken Griffins out of New York, you're
- 13:34Speaker 4: gonna lose most of the tax revenue and then everybody's
- 13:37Speaker 4: gonna suffer. This mom, Donnie, I think he screwed up
- 13:41Speaker 4: the New York Mets. You know, he goes to U
- 13:45Speaker 4: City Field and they got that mister Met and mister
- 13:49Speaker 4: Met hugs this the video. The video came out of
- 13:53Speaker 4: you know a lot of I met mister Met. He
- 13:55Speaker 4: shook my hand. People meet mister Met, they shake your
- 13:59Speaker 4: hand'll slap you.
- 14:00Speaker 6: On the back.
- 14:01Speaker 4: The Mamdani want he hugs him, He kisses him a
- 14:05Speaker 4: little weird boy. He was really into Mamdanni. And I
- 14:09Speaker 4: think it was Sid Rosenberg. He was the one that
- 14:11Speaker 4: started this. Put the thing up and he said this.
- 14:15Speaker 4: It went crazy and then it went viral and because
- 14:19Speaker 4: it was a terrible thing, mister Met hugging, kissing Mamdani,
- 14:23Speaker 4: And then since that happened, they've lost eleven games in
- 14:26Speaker 4: a row. So some people think it's a real curse. Now,
- 14:30Speaker 4: when was the last time the Mets lost eleven games
- 14:32Speaker 4: in a row. It's like twenty five years ago, and
- 14:35Speaker 4: it's one of the worst losing streaks ever ever since
- 14:38Speaker 4: this mister Met hugged and kissed Mamdani, they've lost eleven
- 14:41Speaker 4: games in a row. Coincidence, I don't think so, that's
- 14:46Speaker 4: a hell of a coincidence. And there are these curses,
- 14:50Speaker 4: you know, the Kennedy family. Everybody said, wow, there's just cursed.
- 14:53Speaker 4: There's so many deaths and assassinations and accidents and driving
- 14:57Speaker 4: off roads and skiing into tree, so many people killed
- 15:01Speaker 4: in the Kennedy family. Well, it's always been believed there's
- 15:03Speaker 4: a curse in the family, and it goes you know,
- 15:06Speaker 4: Joe Kennedy Senior was the worst anti Semite in the world,
- 15:09Speaker 4: used to say the ugliest anti Semitic things in private
- 15:13Speaker 4: and in the like nineteen twenties, He's on a big
- 15:16Speaker 4: fancy cruise and there's a Hasidic rabbi and a whole
- 15:22Speaker 4: bunch of Orthodox Jews, and Joe Kennedy goes crazy, yells
- 15:27Speaker 4: and screams. He doesn't want them allowed up on the deck.
- 15:29Speaker 4: He wants them down, hide them, call it. And the
- 15:32Speaker 4: rabbi got so I mean, he was right, got so
- 15:35Speaker 4: crazy at Joe Kennedy. He put a curse on him
- 15:37Speaker 4: in his family. It's a legend, but I mean, look
- 15:42Speaker 4: at the facts. Sounds like the curse worked, and maybe
- 15:45Speaker 4: this Mets curse will hold. We'll see, We'll see they've
- 15:48Speaker 4: lost eleven games in a row. He Hey, we'll take
- 15:50Speaker 4: some calls. Next. Eight hundred three to two one zero
- 15:53Speaker 4: seven ten is the number eight hundred three to two
- 15:57Speaker 4: one zero seven ten. Mark on Demand by setting a
- 16:02Speaker 4: presead for his podcast on the iHeart Radio app.
- 16:05Speaker 6: Now back to Mark Simon.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Wr Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to h
- 16:12Speaker 4: David in New Jersey. David, how you doing.
- 16:15Speaker 6: I'm doing good?
- 16:16Speaker 7: Thank you.
- 16:16Speaker 6: I hope everyone enjoyed the global warming this morning. Communist
- 16:20Speaker 6: mont Dommie, I really would respectfully suggest everyone start calling
- 16:23Speaker 6: him that. He's like pole pot.
- 16:26Speaker 3: He's so brainwashed and spoiled. He's a communist.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Yeah, I know, but he'd enjoy being called commedy mom Donnie.
- 16:32Speaker 4: He'd be proud of that. Call him crazy crazy Mom Donnie,
- 16:35Speaker 4: crazy mom Donnie.
- 16:37Speaker 6: He's pulpot compared to Stalin or.
- 16:39Speaker 4: But it's with twenty twenty six. You'll spend ten minutes
- 16:43Speaker 4: explaining everybody who Polepot is. You need a more up
- 16:45Speaker 4: to date reference. But call him crazy mom Donnie, because
- 16:48Speaker 4: everything he proposes is just crazy. Even this hugging. You know,
- 16:54Speaker 4: why is mister Matt hugging and kissing him better? Yet?
- 16:57Speaker 4: Why is he so uh in love with the men?
- 17:00Speaker 4: I mean it's owned by Steve Cohen, hedge fund billionaire.
- 17:04Speaker 4: You know one thing about the Steinberner family, They were
- 17:06Speaker 4: in like real businesses, you know, shipping business, Hal Steinbrenner
- 17:11Speaker 4: before the Yankees. You know, he used to run hotels.
- 17:13Speaker 4: In fact, he once got voted best Marriotte owner in America.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Even the business people. Steve Cohen just a hedge fund guy.
- 17:21Speaker 4: You watch the show Billions, it's based on Steve Cohen.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I mean they're just wheeling and doing It's not they
- 17:27Speaker 4: actually make anything. So why is he so in love
- 17:29Speaker 4: with the hedge fund team and not the Yankees. Let's
- 17:32Speaker 4: go to Mara in Nevada. Mara, how you doing?
- 17:35Speaker 8: I'm unhappy this morning.
- 17:37Speaker 6: Mark.
- 17:37Speaker 8: I can't get the app on my computer. I can't
- 17:40Speaker 8: get the app on my TV. I had to call
- 17:42Speaker 8: up so I could hear you chow Vincent.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Mark, are your computer's not working?
- 17:48Speaker 8: No, I don't know. I can't get you. I'm so unhappy.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Well, you're in Nevada as the internet problems.
- 17:53Speaker 8: I know, but we're not far from Vegas.
- 17:56Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 8: But Mark, here's why I called. You know, when this
- 18:00Speaker 8: scheme of things, it's not that long ago that the
- 18:03Speaker 8: war came down in Germany and everyone here was so happy.
- 18:08Speaker 8: We got the East Germans away from the communists. Look
- 18:12Speaker 8: away doing in this country communists may a communist governor
- 18:16Speaker 8: communist Conguestly, what the hell happenedf Mark?
- 18:21Speaker 4: Yeah. George Will used to say, we have to do
- 18:23Speaker 4: this every twenty five years. Every twenty five years, we
- 18:26Speaker 4: have to elect a socialist a communists and do a
- 18:28Speaker 4: demonstration of how bad it is. For younger people who
- 18:32Speaker 4: don't realize how bad it is, we have to actually
- 18:33Speaker 4: show them it happens every twenty five years. We go
- 18:38Speaker 4: so far to the left with the Democrats that they
- 18:40Speaker 4: have to put on a demonstration of how ridiculously stupid
- 18:43Speaker 4: this communism is, and then it cures another generation. Although
- 18:47Speaker 4: this generation today indoctrinated by these crazy universities. I don't
- 18:52Speaker 4: know if they'll learn anything. Let's go to Rich and
- 18:54Speaker 4: Myrtle Beach. Rich, how you doing good?
- 18:57Speaker 7: Pretty good? Thanks walk You know, Clinton, Mamdani, Bernie Sanders, Obama,
- 19:03Speaker 7: all these people have to go after billionaires because they
- 19:06Speaker 7: themselves became millionaires through socialism and their dull ability and
- 19:11Speaker 7: the stupidity of the public to keep electing these people
- 19:14Speaker 7: just unbelievable. Now you talk about Steve Bezos. I ordered
- 19:17Speaker 7: a Bluetooth speaker at five o'clock in the afternoon. I
- 19:20Speaker 7: was here by seven o'clock that night. I don't know
- 19:22Speaker 7: how the guy does that kind of stuff. And how
- 19:24Speaker 7: long is the trish going to stick around as a
- 19:27Speaker 7: police commissioners? This city continues to go down, down, down.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah, well we'll see, yeah, see you kids today. You
- 19:33Speaker 4: don't know what life was like before Jeff Bezos. You
- 19:35Speaker 4: want a speaker, you go on Amazon. You read all
- 19:38Speaker 4: the reviews. You see it's see how many stars you learn?
- 19:40Speaker 4: That's it. Do you know what we used to have
- 19:43Speaker 4: to do. We used to have to go like all
- 19:45Speaker 4: the way over the Best Buy, or we had to
- 19:47Speaker 4: go to P. C. Richard, Or we had to go
- 19:48Speaker 4: to Crazy Eddy, or we had to go to a
- 19:51Speaker 4: uh back then they called they had these audio stores.
- 19:54Speaker 4: You had to go look in a room. They had
- 19:57Speaker 4: all the different speakers. You had to deal with a
- 19:59Speaker 4: huckster salesm who kept trying to push this one brand
- 20:01Speaker 4: on you because they were having a promotion. The salesman
- 20:04Speaker 4: who sells the most of that gets a trip to Hawaii.
- 20:06Speaker 4: That kind of stuff. It was a different world back then.
- 20:09Speaker 4: And then you had how'd you get the speaker home?
- 20:12Speaker 4: And what if you brought two big speakers, You'd have
- 20:13Speaker 4: to have them delivered. You'd have to wait. This was
- 20:16Speaker 4: ridiculous Amazon, push a button. There it is the next day.
- 20:22Speaker 4: So stop hating these billionaires. Let's go to Ted in Paramus.
- 20:26Speaker 6: Ted, how you doing, Yeah, good morning.
- 20:30Speaker 7: Hey.
- 20:30Speaker 6: This tax on expensive homes in Manhattan for non residents, yes,
- 20:37Speaker 6: peu tear. Yeah, it might actually be illegal. If you
- 20:42Speaker 6: remember Pataki ran on undoing the commuter tax in New
- 20:48Speaker 6: York City said, oh okay, well you took out the
- 20:51Speaker 6: commuter tax for New York residents. We'll just keep on
- 20:56Speaker 6: tax in the commuters from New Jersey. Went up to
- 21:00Speaker 6: the appeals court. Nope, got to tax everybody the same.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Yeah, well you could have it's a borderline one here.
- 21:07Speaker 4: You can tax, you can can tax non residents. But
- 21:11Speaker 4: it should be tested in the courts. It's really bigotry
- 21:14Speaker 4: and discrimination if you targeted a special group. In other words,
- 21:18Speaker 4: if you said we're gonna have a higher tax on
- 21:21Speaker 4: Swedish people, you can't do that. You're gonna have a
- 21:24Speaker 4: higher tax on billionaires. So we're gonna just target this group.
- 21:28Speaker 4: It should be tested in the court. Remind me to
- 21:30Speaker 4: get back to Bernie Sanders so they we'll do that later.
- 21:33Speaker 4: You know, here's your socialist Bernie Sanders talking about equality.
- 21:38Speaker 4: The guy has made himself a multime multi multi millionaire.
- 21:43Speaker 4: We'll explain the scheme that he used to do it.
- 21:45Speaker 4: And now he's got three homes. How many people do
- 21:48Speaker 4: you have three homes? Well, he's been confronted with that.
- 21:52Speaker 4: What do you hear his stupid explanation. We'll get to
- 21:54Speaker 4: the pope coming up, and a lot more coming up
- 21:58Speaker 4: in the next hour. Also, we'll get to Tom Holman,
- 22:01Speaker 4: who was great. We'll get to Cash but tell he's
- 22:04Speaker 4: gonna sue one of the worst magazines in the world. Well,
- 22:07Speaker 4: we'll get to all of that coming up. But when
- 22:08Speaker 4: we come back the brilliant columnist Michael Goodwin. He'll be
- 22:12Speaker 4: with us next on seven to ten War Explore Mark,
- 22:17Speaker 4: Mark Simon on seventr Hey, Michael Goodwin, the best columnist
- 22:24Speaker 4: in America. You can read his column every Sunday and
- 22:26Speaker 4: every Wednesday in the New York Post. And if you
- 22:29Speaker 4: go to the New York Post website and get all
- 22:31Speaker 4: of his columns, they're all up there on the New
- 22:32Speaker 4: York Post website. Michael Goodwin, how you.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Doing, Good morning, Mark, Thank you.
- 22:39Speaker 4: Hey, great column yesterday, Hochel and Mom Dommie. This socialism,
- 22:45Speaker 4: it doesn't even sound good on paper. This tax the rich,
- 22:48Speaker 4: chase the billionaires away from the even on paper doesn't
- 22:51Speaker 4: sound good. What is wrong with them?
- 22:54Speaker 7: Well?
- 22:55Speaker 3: Look, I think Hoko was running scared.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Of course, he's up for a real election, and she
- 23:01Speaker 1: obviously feels the only way she can win is that
- 23:06Speaker 1: Mom Donnie urges his supporters in the city to vote
- 23:10Speaker 1: for her. I mean it may work as a strategy,
- 23:15Speaker 1: but it's going to bankrupty state eventually that she keeps
- 23:19Speaker 1: going this way with taxing, taxing, taxing. You know, formally
- 23:25Speaker 1: she said she understood that many people had left the
- 23:30Speaker 1: state for friendlier climbs.
- 23:33Speaker 3: But now she's doing it again.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I mean she's one day she four higher taxes, the
- 23:39Speaker 1: next day she opposes them.
- 23:42Speaker 4: Yeah, and now she's got an opponent who's a tough opponent.
- 23:45Speaker 4: Bruce Blakeman would be a great governor. He's very real,
- 23:48Speaker 4: he's really himself. He's not putting on an act of
- 23:51Speaker 4: any kind. She's got a good shot at losing, doesn't.
- 23:54Speaker 1: She, Well, it all depends on the city, the way
- 24:00Speaker 1: the state works. Democratic candidates statewide have been winning for
- 24:06Speaker 1: the last twenty point forty years by racking up the
- 24:10Speaker 1: score in the city and because there aren't enough people
- 24:15Speaker 1: outside the city for Republican candidate to make up the difference.
- 24:20Speaker 1: So that's why I think she's tilting too heavily, so
- 24:25Speaker 1: heavily toward Mamdani and his high tax plans. Is because
- 24:31Speaker 1: she wants his supporters, remember he got over.
- 24:34Speaker 3: A million votes.
- 24:36Speaker 1: She wants them to come to her, and so far
- 24:40Speaker 1: he is sticky with her. So he looks to me
- 24:44Speaker 1: like he is preparing to deliver as many votes as
- 24:48Speaker 1: possible for her in the city. That will give Blakeman
- 24:53Speaker 1: a real challenge.
- 24:55Speaker 4: Yeah, but he'll come through in the end. So is
- 25:00Speaker 4: this Pierre Tear tax the single dumbest thing you've ever heard?
- 25:02Speaker 4: And by the way, let's give Andrew Cuomo credit. He's
- 25:06Speaker 4: the guy that first came up with and first pushed it.
- 25:08Speaker 4: But have you ever heard of any dumber tax?
- 25:12Speaker 3: It's one of many dumb taxes.
- 25:15Speaker 7: But you know the Uh.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Of course, Mamdani wanted higher personal income taxes and higher
- 25:23Speaker 1: corporate taxes. Now, Holko said, no, we're not doing any taxes.
- 25:28Speaker 1: You know, we're we're people are leaving already. And then
- 25:31Speaker 1: she came up with this Kakameni plan of effectively raising
- 25:36Speaker 1: real estate taxes on second homes in the city. Now
- 25:42Speaker 1: again she acts as if this is a kind of
- 25:45Speaker 1: harmless thing. But those properties are mostly condominiums. They already
- 25:51Speaker 1: paid direct real estate taxes.
- 25:54Speaker 3: Uh.
- 25:55Speaker 1: In New York Times estimated that each of these apartments
- 25:59Speaker 1: may all already you detained something on the order of
- 26:02Speaker 1: fifty or sixty thousand dollars a year and property taxes,
- 26:07Speaker 1: not to mention the other building taxes. As they say,
- 26:11Speaker 1: they provide jobs in the neighborhoods, restaurants, retail all kinds
- 26:18Speaker 1: of things that they contribute to the city, construction jobs.
- 26:23Speaker 1: So this is, as I say in the column, they're
- 26:27Speaker 1: like on an ideological bender. They're like two drunks. They're
- 26:31Speaker 1: drunk on taxes and they're gonna kill the gold goose.
- 26:36Speaker 4: Hey, let me just correct one thing. This apartment over
- 26:38Speaker 4: here that Ken Griffin owns, the one mom Donny singled
- 26:41Speaker 4: out two hundred and thirty million dollars his real estate
- 26:45Speaker 4: taxes almost a million dollars a year already.
- 26:48Speaker 3: Is that okay?
- 26:50Speaker 4: Seventy million?
- 26:50Speaker 3: I believe that seventy thousand.
- 26:52Speaker 4: Yeah, so.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Right, And that's see that's probably on the high end.
- 27:02Speaker 1: But nonetheless it's not nothing, Right, Why should he pay more?
- 27:07Speaker 3: Isn't that enough? I mean, what's what's enough?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Nothing? It's because of the stending that the governments do
- 27:16Speaker 1: in New York City and Albany. That's why they're forever
- 27:20Speaker 1: scraping a barrow trying to get a little more out
- 27:23Speaker 1: of people's pockets.
- 27:25Speaker 4: Yeah, our budget is probably a double at least double,
- 27:29Speaker 4: maybe triple what it should be. But is there any
- 27:32Speaker 4: politicians honest enough to say we need to cut the
- 27:34Speaker 4: budget dramatically? Is there any politician who can do that?
- 27:38Speaker 1: No, not, not on this not on the New York scene,
- 27:42Speaker 1: that's for sure.
- 27:43Speaker 3: You know, Mark.
- 27:44Speaker 1: For a couple of years now, I've been comparing New
- 27:47Speaker 1: York's budget and New York State's budget to Florida. Is
- 27:51Speaker 1: state budget. Florida has three million more people than New
- 27:56Speaker 1: York City, than New York States, and your state budget
- 28:01Speaker 1: is going to be something like two hundred and seventy
- 28:05Speaker 1: billion dollars. Florida, the whole state, its budget is one
- 28:11Speaker 1: hundred and seventeen billion dollars. So what does New York
- 28:16Speaker 1: need so much money for? Primarily one thing, it's the unions.
- 28:21Speaker 1: The unions drive up the cost of government, and of
- 28:25Speaker 1: course all the unions support every Democrat.
- 28:29Speaker 4: Yeah, and if you go to Florida, you'll notice services
- 28:31Speaker 4: are a lot better, from roads to schools to bridges,
- 28:35Speaker 4: much better down there.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Yes.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Hey, the war in Iran looks like it's heating up again.
- 28:41Speaker 4: Apparently it's a civil war. We're negotiating with political leadership
- 28:46Speaker 4: and they want to make a deal, but they don't
- 28:48Speaker 4: have control of this crazy Republican guard that wants to
- 28:51Speaker 4: keep fighting. How will we ever settle that?
- 28:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, they're going to have to settle that themselves.
- 29:00Speaker 1: But look, I was hopeful over the weekend mark that
- 29:05Speaker 1: the cease fire might hold and therefore would become the
- 29:10Speaker 1: format for a lasting peace.
- 29:13Speaker 3: But I'm not sure now because the Iranians.
- 29:17Speaker 1: They have this attitude that if only they stick with
- 29:21Speaker 1: it long enough, Trump will back down. I think they're
- 29:26Speaker 1: calculating that he.
- 29:28Speaker 3: Will have to do that in.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Order to keep the Republican's hole in the midterms.
- 29:34Speaker 3: So they're making a bet that the.
- 29:37Speaker 1: Result of their intransigence will be Democrats weighing the House
- 29:42Speaker 1: and maybe the Senate. So that they are playing politics.
- 29:45Speaker 1: They're interfering in American politics. You would think the Democratic
- 29:51Speaker 1: Party would want to separate itself from that, but quite
- 29:54Speaker 1: the contrary.
- 29:55Speaker 4: Yeah. So hey, a lot of people have got a
- 29:59Speaker 4: lot of great reaction column last week about the New
- 30:01Speaker 4: York Times and how crazy it went. It used to
- 30:04Speaker 4: be so revered and respected the same thing with Atlantic Magazine.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Atlantic Magazine used to be such a prestigious magazine. It's
- 30:10Speaker 4: now right, crazy left wing magazine. Is there anything left
- 30:15Speaker 4: that you would actually call mainstream media? It doesn't exist anymore,
- 30:18Speaker 4: does it.
- 30:20Speaker 3: No, it's you know, it's sort of like the political parties.
- 30:23Speaker 7: Mark.
- 30:24Speaker 1: The media has splintered right into two camps see. And
- 30:30Speaker 1: of course there's some moderation with any many many institutions,
- 30:35Speaker 1: but fundamentally the media has to become the brains of
- 30:41Speaker 1: the Democratic Party. And so if the New York Times
- 30:45Speaker 1: or The Atlantic endorses something Chuck Schumer says, you can death,
- 30:51Speaker 1: that's going to help Chuck.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Schumer among Democratic voters.
- 30:54Speaker 1: The other and the course that's going on is the
- 30:58Speaker 1: Democrats are having a civil war with Barack Obama and
- 31:02Speaker 1: with Mom Donni, Right, I mean, Mam Donnie is now
- 31:06Speaker 1: I think the most popular important person in the Democratic Party.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Nobody talks about AOC anymore. Bernie Sanders and Mam Donnie.
- 31:17Speaker 1: That's the Democratic Party for you today.
- 31:20Speaker 4: Yeah, there was a famous meeting with the Obama and
- 31:23Speaker 4: Mam Donnie. Obama very gracious, But wouldn't you bet that
- 31:26Speaker 4: when Obama got backstage, he looked at everybody and rolled
- 31:29Speaker 4: his eyes a little at Mom Donnie.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I would hope though, that I'm not sure.
- 31:36Speaker 1: I look, I think Obama was, of course the most
- 31:40Speaker 1: liberal president we've had in modern times. And I think
- 31:44Speaker 1: he's probably looks at himself as the grand old man
- 31:49Speaker 1: of the progressive Party that the Democrats are becoming. And
- 31:54Speaker 1: so I think his appearance with Mom Donnie is a
- 31:58Speaker 1: calculated one help themselves as well as Mom Donnie.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Yeah, same thing with Trump. And you know they just
- 32:06Speaker 4: laugh at this guy. But you need things to get
- 32:08Speaker 4: things done in New York, you gotta play along with
- 32:10Speaker 4: Mom Donnie. So, Michael Goodwin, great work, column every Sunday,
- 32:15Speaker 4: every Wednesday, always brilliant and thanks for being.
- 32:18Speaker 3: With us, my pleasure. Thank you, Mark.
- 32:21Speaker 4: Take care. You can read Michael Goodwin every Sunday, every Wednesday,
- 32:25Speaker 4: New York Post. All his columns are up on the website. Hey,
- 32:28Speaker 4: we got a lot to get to today. Oh remind
- 32:31Speaker 4: me to get to the Pope and Bill Maher particularly
- 32:33Speaker 4: good on the Pope. We'll get to that coming up.

- 32:37Speaker 4: noon today. Excellent show every day noon to three. Dan

- 32:47Speaker 4: Faylor what a great show, very funny every night at
- 32:50Speaker 4: nine on seven to.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Ten w Mark the mons On wr.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Hey, So you know, we killed on the first day
- 33:02Speaker 4: of the war all the leadership of Iran. We killed
- 33:04Speaker 4: the iatola. We killed forty of the top top leaders
- 33:08Speaker 4: were in first day, wiped them out. Since then, you
- 33:13Speaker 4: haven't heard anything about the Ayatola Komani. Where what did
- 33:18Speaker 4: they do? Did they bury him? Was their funeral? It's
- 33:21Speaker 4: five weeks now, whatever it is, no word on it. Well,
- 33:24Speaker 4: apparently Iranian officials are afraid to bury him.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Now.
- 33:31Speaker 4: Normally when an iotola dies. The last time it happened
- 33:34Speaker 4: in nineteen eighty nine, they had a funeral. Literally millions
- 33:39Speaker 4: of Iranians showed up for the funeral. It was the
- 33:41Speaker 4: major event of the of the country. Millions flooded the
- 33:45Speaker 4: street in Tehran for the massive funeral. And then they
- 33:49Speaker 4: had a state, long, days long, state funeral and they
- 33:53Speaker 4: buried him. That's what you do when an iatola is killed. Well,
- 33:55Speaker 4: here there's nothing. Nothing. Apparently they're afraid to bury them.
- 34:00Speaker 4: They're afraid to have a funeral, They're afraid to pick
- 34:03Speaker 4: a site to bury them in. They're afraid that it
- 34:06Speaker 4: won't be safe, that if there's a massive funeral, people
- 34:09Speaker 4: will be killed there by US forces. They're afraid if
- 34:12Speaker 4: there's a burial site it'll be taken out. They're looking
- 34:14Speaker 4: at a very very remote site in this region, Turkmenistan,
- 34:20Speaker 4: which is the itholes hometown, but so far they're afraid
- 34:24Speaker 4: to actually do it. Hey, guess who's running for a
- 34:27Speaker 4: city camp. Well, we'll get to all of this coming up.
- 34:29Speaker 4: A lot to talk about in the next hour. Mark
- 34:32Speaker 4: Simone here every weekday ten to noon, or if ten

- 34:47Speaker 4: back right after the news. A lot to get to
- 34:48Speaker 4: in the next hour here on seven to ten w
