- 3:07Sunny mornings send you. In local news, dozens
- 3:12of police departments in Massachusetts are now
- 3:15using Flock Safety's automated license plate
- 3:18reader technology. which captures and records
- 3:21license plates and locations as cars pass by.
- 3:25This artificial intelligence system allows police
- 3:28to track motorists during criminal investigations,
- 3:31with Chief Legal Officer Dan Haley stating that
- 3:34the cameras capture information visible to the
- 3:37public. Haley emphasized that data typically
- 3:40remains on a server for about 30 days and is
- 3:44accessible by contracted police departments.
- 3:47The American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts
- 3:50is monitoring the technology due to concerns
- 3:53over data sharing with numerous law enforcement
- 3:56agencies. Former Police Chief John Carmichael
- 4:00highlighted that this technology can aid in public
- 4:03safety, helping locate missing persons and alerting
- 4:06law enforcement when necessary. Now onto sports.
- 4:16As Paul Skeens continually conjured magical starts
- 4:20this summer, Pittsburgh Pirates catchers Henry
- 4:23Davis and Joey Bart whispered about the Sai Yam
- 4:26Award. The celebration began when Skeens won
- 4:30the National League Award, earning all 30 first
- 4:33-place votes. Skeens is the second pitcher in
- 4:37Major League Baseball history to win Rookie of
- 4:40the Year and Sai Yam in consecutive seasons.
- 4:43He led the majors in earned run average at 1
- 4:47.97 and the National League in walks and hits
- 4:50per inning pitched at 0 .948. Skeens is the Pirates'
- 4:56third Cy Young winner, joining Verne Law and
- 4:59Dog Drebeck. In local sports, the Celtics crushed
- 5:05the Grizzlies, 131 -95, with five players in
- 5:10double figures. Boston registers its sixth win
- 5:13of the season. The Seas returned home to face
- 5:17off against the Grizzlies last night. Boston
- 5:20led all night, securing a big home win. Peyton
- 5:24Pritchard led the team in scoring with 24 points.
- 5:28Derek White contributed 20 points, while Jalen
- 5:31Brown added 19 points, six rebounds, and six
- 5:35assists. Jordan Walsh replaced Josh Menott in
- 5:38the starting lineup. and made an instant impact.
- 5:43Boston will host the Los Angeles Clippers on
- 5:45Sunday at 3 .30 in the afternoon Eastern time.
- 5:51In top news, using your credit card at the checkout
- 5:54is set to get a lot more complicated. A settlement
- 5:58between Visa and MasterCard, along with U .S.
- 6:01merchants, could lead to tiered pricing at the
- 6:04register. This agreement follows a two -decade
- 6:07antitrust battle over interchange fees, which
- 6:10banks collect from merchants for credit card
- 6:12transactions. If approved, merchants could charge
- 6:16different fees based on credit card categories,
- 6:19allowing for surcharges based on card type. However,
- 6:23analysts warned that adding fees might alienate
- 6:26customers, as many would switch payment methods
- 6:29to avoid surcharges. Despite changes, rewards
- 6:33programs are likely to remain intact. In business
- 6:38news, the decline of cable television just hit
- 6:42a major milestone. For years, the pay television
- 6:47business seemed to defy gravity. However, that
- 6:50is no longer the case, as the industry has been
- 6:53eroding for a decade. A recent estimate from
- 6:57Madison and Wall shows that 15 years ago, Nearly
- 7:009 in 10 United States households had a paid television
- 7:04subscription, but by the end of 2025, that number
- 7:08will drop to 5 out of 10. This decline explains
- 7:12why companies like Comcast and Warner Bros. Discovery
- 7:16are trying to sell or spin off their cable television
- 7:19assets. Advertisers are also noticing that higher
- 7:23levels of audience reach can be found elsewhere.
- 7:27In crypto movement, Bitcoin is down 1 % to about
- 7:32$102 ,000. Ethereum is up half a percent to just
- 7:38under $3 ,500. And XRP is up 3 % to $2 .46. Moving
- 7:47on to a more local vibe. In our community spotlight

- 8:27to tell them... Sunny morning sent you by. And
- 8:31now, back to the show. Let's talk tech. Apple
- 8:37has launched a digital ID, which will be accepted
- 8:40by the Transportation Security Administration
- 8:43at checkpoints in more than 250 airports across
- 8:47the United States. This feature allows users
- 8:50to create and store an ID in Apple Wallet using
- 8:53their United States passport. Digital ID acceptance
- 8:58will roll out first at TSA checkpoints for domestic
- 9:01travel. Users can present their digital ID instead
- 9:05of a real ID using an iPhone or Apple Watch.
- 9:09However, it is not a replacement for a physical
- 9:12passport and cannot be used for international
- 9:15travel. To create a digital ID, users must scan
- 9:19their passport and take a selfie for verification.
- 9:23Apple assures that this feature is encrypted,
- 9:26safeguarding user data. And in entertainment
- 9:32news, Netflix wants to build a home for its fans
- 9:36at the mall. Netflix House opens this week at
- 9:40King of Prussia Mall in Philadelphia, marking
- 9:42its first major push into physical, experiential
- 9:46retail locations. The venue spans 100 ,000 square
- 9:51feet. and features interactive games, immersive
- 9:54rooms based on hit shows, a 200 -seat theater,
- 9:58and restaurants offering Netflix -steamed cuisine.
- 10:02Experiences start at $15 with Netflix chief executive
- 10:05officer Ted Sarandos envisioning up to 60 locations
- 10:09globally. This expansion taps into a market longing
- 10:13for in -person gatherings, capitalizing on nostalgia
- 10:17for traditional malls. Well, alrighty folks,
- 10:22it's time for the quote of the day. And today,
- 10:26our quote comes from the British author and philosopher
- 10:29Aldous Huxley. And he said, And that's a wrap
