Transcript
- Lucas: Luna, welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. I'm glad you're here. Luna: Good to be back, Lucas. Last time we did legs and feet, right? All those new words. Lucas: Exactly. And today we're going to review the hand and arm. You remember some of those? Luna: Oof, let me think. La main? That's hand. Lucas: Yes, la main. Good start. And the arm is le bras. Let's say them together: la main, le bras. Luna: La main, le bras. Got it. Lucas: Perfect. Now, la main has fingers, les doigts. Try that one. Luna: Les doigts. That's fingers. La main, le bras, les doigts. Lucas: You're nailing it. And two more: le coude, the elbow, and l'épaule, the shoulder. Repeat after me: le coude, l'épaule. Luna: Le coude, l'épaule. Le coude, l'épaule. I love l'épaule, it sounds fancy. Lucas: It does. Now let's combine them. Imagine you're describing your arm. Mon bras, ma main, mes doigts, mon coude, mon épaule. Notice épaule is feminine, so mon épaule. Luna: Mon bras, ma main, mes doigts, mon coude, mon épaule. That's a lot of possessives, but I like the flow. Lucas: You're doing great. Let's do a quick scene. You're telling me you hurt your elbow. How would you say 'I hurt my elbow'? Luna: Umm... Je me suis fait mal au coude? Wait, is that right? Lucas: Close! It's 'Je me suis fait mal au coude.' Perfect. And if it's your shoulder? 'Je me suis fait mal à l'épaule.' Try that. Luna: Je me suis fait mal à l'épaule. Oh, à l'épaule because épaule starts with a vowel. Lucas: Exactly. You're catching on. Now, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with French, we want to let you know something. Luna: Yeah, we keep the show ad-free on purpose. No commercials interrupting your learning. Lucas: Right. And if that matters to you, listener support is what keeps it going. The link is buy me a coffee dot com slash fexingo. That's it, simple. Luna: Yeah. So if you feel like it, check it out. Otherwise, back to our body parts. Lucas: Let's practice with a mini dialogue. I'll ask: 'Qu'est-ce que tu as?' — 'What's wrong?' You answer using a body part. Ready? Luna: Ready. Qu'est-ce que tu as? Hmm. J'ai mal à la main. I have a pain in my hand. Lucas: Perfect. J'ai mal à la main. Now if it's your fingers? 'J'ai mal aux doigts.' Because doigts is plural. Luna: J'ai mal aux doigts. That makes sense. So aux for plural. Lucas: Yes. Let's recap all five: la main, le bras, les doigts, le coude, l'épaule. Say them one more time. Luna: La main, le bras, les doigts, le coude, l'épaule. I'm feeling confident. Lucas: Great. Because next time we'll put all the body parts together in a story. But for now, practice these. See you next episode. Luna: Merci, Lucas. À bientôt!
