- 0:06>> Brandan Schulze: This is the Sea Hawkers Podcast,
- 0:09live and Uncatfished. Fished. I'm Brandan
- 0:12Schulze of the Military Sea Hawkers, joined by my good buddy and
- 0:14Montana Sea Hawker Adam Emmert, as our
- 0:17Seahawks have gone to 3-0, beating
- 0:20the stupid Miami dolphins
- 0:2224 to three. How's it going,
- 0:25buddy?
- 0:26>> Adam Emmert: Hey, it's going great, man. What a fantastic Sunday. Got to
- 0:29go over to my buddy James's, new rental cabin that
- 0:32sits on top of this beautiful vista and
- 0:35watch it on the big screen and watch the
- 0:38Seahawks. I mean, they cruised to victory,
- 0:41but it could have been more cruise. We can get to that. but then also
- 0:44to see that the Niners go down and the cards go down,
- 0:47and everything in the world is just
- 0:49rosy and everything's a little greener. the Lacroix
- 0:52tastes a little better. What a day.
- 0:55>> Brandan Schulze: It was a fun day watching our Seahawks get out to
- 0:58a 17 point first
- 1:01half, because I don't know, I've always.
- 1:04After going through many years of not being able to win the
- 1:07game until the fourth quarter, I like to get out to
- 1:09that early lead. They got out to that early
- 1:12lead, and maybe I would have liked to see them keep the foot on the gas
- 1:15a little bit longer. I feel weird being too complaining
- 1:18now that our Seahawks are three and. Oh, Adam. But
- 1:22there were some ugly football kind of in between,
- 1:24the 17 point quarter
- 1:27and then the final quarter where they. They
- 1:30come back after, you know, Miami nearly is.
- 1:33They're on the goal line, they're about to score. We get the
- 1:36stop on the goal line, and then we drive it down the field.
- 1:39No safeties, but everything in between that,
- 1:42I could forget about.
- 1:43>> Adam Emmert: Yeah, there was that stretch there from about
- 1:46second quarter to beginning of the fourth, where it got
- 1:49real rugged offensively, but if we don't want to be super complex right
- 1:52out of the gate, let's talk about the defense. Look, I understand that
- 1:55they're playing a offense without their starting quarterback
- 1:58and a backup that isn't
- 2:01highly heralded or anything like that, but you
- 2:04still got to beat these dudes. You got to go out there and do it. You would expect
- 2:07the defense to perform like this
- 2:10against that sort of team, but you still got to go out there and do
- 2:13it to meet that expectation. And, boy, did they do
- 2:16it. I mean, you think about Gino throwing the
- 2:19pick out of the end zone and setting
- 2:22them up right there, cracking on the goal
- 2:25line, and the defense said, no, they kept him
- 2:28out, held him to three there. So Gino didn't take the
- 2:30safety, but we still ended up giving up three. But
- 2:33my goodness. Like, the defense all day long
- 2:36just stood up and said no all day. It was fantastic.
- 2:39Flying around.
- 2:40>> Brandan Schulze: A lot of good play from the defense. We've got our Ryan
- 2:42911 coming in with our live
- 2:45executive producer donation 999
- 2:48super chat. Three and oh, with a shutout
- 2:50caliber. 60 minutes of defensive
- 2:53domination. And that is a good place to
- 2:56start with the defense. We had Derek hall with two sacks on
- 2:59the day. We had Dotson, who, came in
- 3:02with a nice sack up the middle to shut down a
- 3:05drive that had gotten started moving a little bit. And
- 3:08unfortunately, it was also that hit that took out Skyler Thompson. And.
- 3:11And maybe we ended up seeing the better quarterback come
- 3:14in and play, but I don't
- 3:17know. I I was almost to the point to
- 3:20where I was feeling a little bit bad for
- 3:23our opponents. And I was also, like, kind of happy it
- 3:26wasn't to, back there. Cause I didn't want to see anything bad happen to him
- 3:28again. The, defense definitely punished the Dolphins.
- 3:31>> Adam Emmert: Today 100% in early in the game. The
- 3:34Dolphins were able to get on the perimeter a little bit here and
- 3:37there, and you finally saw
- 3:40them take that away, set that edge nice and
- 3:42hard, keep them inside. They did get us on a couple inside run plays,
- 3:45but nothing crazy. And at that point,
- 3:48then you get up a couple scores, and they got to
- 3:51drop back and pass it a little bit. And then that's when you saw the pass
- 3:54rush really come to life. And holy smokes, they
- 3:57were all over the quarterback today, and
- 4:00it was a ball to watch.
- 4:01>> Brandan Schulze: Another thing that is something we should
- 4:04celebrate right out of the gate is I,
- 4:06see Corey Coolman in the chat saying, love the outcome this
- 4:09weekend. Saw the Cardinals lose to the Lions. We saw
- 4:12the Rams beat the Niners on a last second field
- 4:15goal. And that, that part of it was fun,
- 4:18too.
- 4:19>> Adam Emmert: Hey, I can't complain a lick other than if you could
- 4:22somehow give the Rams a loss in there as well. But,
- 4:24hey, man, that's the way that games, work. But
- 4:27it's about as perfect as you could hope
- 4:30for, a, start to the season being three and, oh, I
- 4:33honestly expected this team to struggle record wise
- 4:36out of the gate, just with the new coaching staff and trying
- 4:39to make everything fit. And I think it's helpful that
- 4:42we haven't played world beaters, you know, Broncos, Patriots,
- 4:45Dolphins here, but you still have to go out
- 4:48there and win those football games, and they got
- 4:51it done. And three and o, a nice
- 4:54little lead in the division out of the gate.
- 4:56That feels nice.
- 4:58>> Brandan Schulze: Well, and especially too, when you look
- 5:00at. Yeah, I'll go back to the defense
- 5:03and their ability to shut things down. Yes,
- 5:06it does help going up against backup level quarterbacks,
- 5:09but when you hold Skyler to just 107
- 5:12yards passing, I guess the other thing that was impressive, and I saw someone
- 5:15mention this in chat, you know, when you make some of their
- 5:17stars feel irrelevant. And so when you look
- 5:20at Devon a. Chan, eleven carries, 30 yards
- 5:23under three yards per carry. Tyree kill,
- 5:2640 yards on the day shoot d
- 5:29escrit on his one catch almost surpassed everything
- 5:31that, Tyree kill had today. And then you
- 5:34also out of the backfield, 28 yards on
- 5:37three catches. Waddle only 26 yards. So
- 5:40yeah, when you look down that list and you see just
- 5:42how, how much you took away in terms
- 5:45of their star performers, it
- 5:48really was a good performance by the defense.
- 5:51>> Adam Emmert: Really, the only weapon I was super afraid of coming into
- 5:54this game was a Chan, just because
- 5:57he is an effective runner in a heck of a back
- 6:00in with all the speed in the world. But I did figure if
- 6:03they could figure out how to keep him contained in between the tackles, that
- 6:06that would be something that we could actually
- 6:08rally around and kind of shut him down on. Now, with
- 6:11Tyreek, I didn't worry about him in this game
- 6:14only because, I mean, I worry about Tyree kill otherwise in every
- 6:17other game only because it was going to be difficult for them to push
- 6:20the ball down the field. I mean, really, of all
- 6:23the quarterbacks that could have been starting this weekend, the only guy that
- 6:26can't push the ball further down the field into it is
- 6:29maybe Skyler Thompson. So it was going to be difficult
- 6:32for them to get him involved that way and really stretch
- 6:34the field vertically. And then
- 6:38it was both. I kind of root for it and I'm happy for
- 6:41the guy, but a little annoying to watch d Eskridge
- 6:43come in and catch a 30 yard pass. I think that was more than he did
- 6:46for the Seahawks in his entire time here, and a guy that
- 6:49I always kind of rooted for. So, but yeah, at the end of
- 6:52the day, waddle didn't do much except for a couple of little
- 6:55crossers in. It was a dominant
- 6:58performance by the.
- 6:58>> Brandan Schulze: Defense all the way around, Matthew Phillips and chat saying
- 7:01clearly, escridge is their best wide receiver. The
- 7:04unfortunate part is that Eskridge has that one catch and now
- 7:07he'll be on IR for the next six weeks. And that's
- 7:10unfortunately what you deal with with regard to d, but
- 7:13maybe, maybe he'll buck the trend now that he's down in Miami,
- 7:16hey, rooting for him.
- 7:17>> Adam Emmert: Really, the only bad news out of, today is
- 7:20something that Amy brings up here, defensively
- 7:23speaking, is the injury to Leo
- 7:26Williams and Byron Murphy. ribs. That's
- 7:29something that I look at and I go, well, okay. I mean, that's something
- 7:32that a guy's going to come back from. Maybe he needs to sit out
- 7:35a week or something along those lines, but it's usually not too
- 7:37bad. What worries me is the hamstring
- 7:40for Byron Murphy. Like,
- 7:43soft tissue, man. Hamstrings and
- 7:46calves and that sort of thing, that gets me a little
- 7:49spooked.
- 7:49>> Brandan Schulze: Yeah. And when you have a couple of the guys in the middle of the
- 7:52defense, that fortunately, they do have some
- 7:55depth there with Hankins, with Jay Reid
- 7:57and Miles Adams, even. But,
- 8:00yeah, those are two guys that you want to make sure that,
- 8:03yeah, you aren't missing for all that long.
- 8:05And with ribs, I guess we'll wait and see.
- 8:09But neither of those guys ended up coming back into the game
- 8:12in terms of some of the star defenders, though.
- 8:15Derek hall, two sacks, one tackle for a
- 8:18loss. Interesting. I guess we only had a quota of
- 8:21one tackle for a loss per defender. Like, you couldn't go over that.
- 8:24But, several guys registering that with Jared Reed,
- 8:27we've got Jones, we got mafe
- 8:29love, Dotson, hall and knight,
- 8:32all getting a tackle for a loss.
- 8:34>> Adam Emmert: M this must mean that Mike McDonald is a
- 8:37communist defensive, coordinator. Like, nobody can
- 8:39hoard all the tackle for losses. Everybody has to have an equal
- 8:42outcome. Yeah, that's what we can take away from that.
- 8:45No, look, I think that really just shows, like,
- 8:48how versatile the system is in how
- 8:50everybody can eat at any given time, depending,
- 8:54on the situation. And I think that's why the players
- 8:57have so much buy in to this defensive scheme, is
- 9:00that they know that Mike's got them in position.
- 9:02When the offense does something that actually plays into
- 9:05the scheme that is going to allow them to make the play, they've
- 9:08got easy decisions to make. It can play fast. And then the
- 9:11tackling, my buddy James talking about it all throughout the game,
- 9:14just how much better the tackling has
- 9:17been this year in comparison to the last
- 9:19couple in. Boy, it just, it is a breath of
- 9:22fresh air.
- 9:23>> Brandan Schulze: Speaker. Two, while we're on defense, though, one, I will say that
- 9:26I saw something I don't know if I've had ever
- 9:29seen before in the NFL with regard to
- 9:31defense. I don't know if I've ever seen a one man, pass
- 9:34rush at the end of the first
- 9:37half, it was a little bit fun because you're
- 9:40like, well, what's the quarterback going to do? He can't just dance around back
- 9:43there all day. But, it almost made you think that
- 9:46maybe that's what he was going to do.
- 9:48>> Adam Emmert: I just really enjoyed watching that because obviously all the
- 9:51receivers are now off the screen, so all you really get to watch is Drake
- 9:54Thomas trying like hell to, like, get through
- 9:57five dudes and, man, give him an a for
- 10:00effort. Like he was getting smacked around by two, three guys
- 10:03at a time. He didn't care. Just still putting his nose in there.
- 10:06That was a lot of fun. but what I did like about
- 10:08it is just the idea of, like, look fine. Like,
- 10:11I don't have to rush anybody, really. We'll put
- 10:14everybody back. You're not scoring here. You're just not scoring
- 10:17here in, oh, yeah, that was,
- 10:20that was cool.
- 10:21>> Brandan Schulze: I felt a little bad for the guy because he didn't have any help at
- 10:24all, but, and thank goodness,
- 10:27some of the offensive linemen just stood there because they could have all,
- 10:30just all four of them. How many were there?
- 10:33Five, six? just ganged up five and, and put
- 10:36them on the ground. Yeah, five makes sense because that's how many offensive linemen
- 10:39there were. But I couldn't remember if somebody else stayed back to help too or
- 10:42not.
- 10:42>> Adam Emmert: I like how some of the dudes on the right side of their line, like,
- 10:45still kind of fanned out that way, pretended like there was somebody
- 10:48maybe to guard there. That was
- 10:51interesting. I, never have seen that in my life. That was,
- 10:54that was cool. Yeah. A lot like seeing 236 people
- 10:57in here at this point, this early in the pod. I don't know that we've ever
- 11:00seen that. That's awesome, man. We appreciate you guys. If you
- 11:03kind of dig this thing, if you don't mind hitting the subscribe, that'd be
- 11:05neat. hit subscribe because of awesome defensive play
- 11:08today and that our Mikey M. boy, just
- 11:11floundered that our Mike McDonald better than their,
- 11:13Mike. So that was fun.
- 11:15>> Brandan Schulze: Our Mike Mac better than their mike Mack here. I helped you out
- 11:18just a little bit.
- 11:19>> Adam Emmert: Wow. Fail. It's like,
- 11:22it's like I played offense for the Seahawks in the second
- 11:25and third quarter. It was just a failure there.
- 11:27>> Brandan Schulze: Mike Mack, though, was, very gifable all
- 11:30day, so that, he had that going for him. Yeah.
- 11:33When you talk about offense,
- 11:36one thing that I don't know if I've ever
- 11:39seen on the offensive side is
- 11:41when you're up two scores for
- 11:44almost the entire game and yet
- 11:47go 75% pass
- 11:50to run ratio. I don't know if I've ever seen that, in
- 11:53the NFL either.
- 11:54>> Adam Emmert: It's interesting. We talked about that a lot in
- 11:57the Patriots matchup about the run pass ratio
- 12:00and how we want to get to maybe something a little bit different, because I think
- 12:03it's more sustainable. But with that
- 12:06said, in this particular game,
- 12:09I hold grub a little less accountable
- 12:12for that. Only because the players didn't help him
- 12:14out here. I mean, how many times we in second
- 12:17and 23rd and twice there was a, ah, something in 20
- 12:20on, I think, five drives in a row.
- 12:23>> Brandan Schulze: We never got to fourth and 39 like the Dolphins did.
- 12:25So, we at least had that one at that going for us as far
- 12:28as officiating. And I guess it impacted both
- 12:31teams because it really was, it seemed
- 12:34like every time a team, whether it was us or the
- 12:37Dolphins, would run on first down, there would be a holding
- 12:40penalty called, and then it would be first and 20 or second
- 12:43and 20, and both teams are dealing with that
- 12:46offensively. So, yeah, we got Marty
- 12:48gately in the chat saying, cross seems to be the only part of the o
- 12:51line that I can trust. It felt that way. He did
- 12:54get beat on one sack on the day, but cross has
- 12:57been the most consistent of the offensive linemen all day.
- 13:00Getting a push inside the run game. It
- 13:03wasn't really there up until the fourth quarter, and. And so
- 13:05you end up with a stat line that looks pretty decent. You got
- 13:08charbonnet, 18 carries, 91 yards, an average of five yards
- 13:11per carry. Like, that's a solid stat line with the two
- 13:14touchdowns. And even with Gino, 26 at
- 13:1634, 289 looks relatively efficient until you get
- 13:19to the int part of it. But, you know, those weren't
- 13:22necessarily on G. No, either. That was guys getting their hands
- 13:25up, tip passes go into the defense. maybe a
- 13:28little on Gino, just in terms of trying to make things happen where
- 13:31he didn't need to.
- 13:32>> Adam Emmert: Gino was awesome today, except for on one decision.
- 13:35>> Brandan Schulze: Just one.
- 13:36>> Adam Emmert: And to me, yeah, that was the one out of
- 13:39the end zone where he decides
- 13:42to try to not take the safety and, like, just dirt it at
- 13:45his feet. Like, don't try to actually complete it to
- 13:47charbonnet. Ends up high,
- 13:50charms, bumps, it up into the air, picked
- 13:53off. That was super frustrating. Cause you felt
- 13:55like at any given point after that first quarter, you're like,
- 13:58just one more score in this game is over, like,
- 14:01just completely over. Otherwise, you
- 14:04can around and find out what this team and let them
- 14:07hang. But, that was the one part
- 14:10of Gino today that I was, like, the first one on
- 14:13him. Second one. Look, Clay is
- 14:16Campbell. He's been terrorizing our organization for who knows how
- 14:19long, and, probably for the rest of time, too. I don't think he's ever
- 14:22going to retire. And he gets his big paws up
- 14:25right as Gino releases the ball. Not a lot you can do about
- 14:27that. That's just bad.
- 14:28>> Brandan Schulze: Okay, so you said one
- 14:31bad decision.
- 14:32I guarantee you I can find one other one that you will agree
- 14:35with me on. And that is when he was getting pressure inside the
- 14:38pocket, he tried to
- 14:41just throw, the ball. Even though there
- 14:43was no wide receiver there. It was clearly an intentional
- 14:46grounding penalty, and it didn't need to be taken.
- 14:49Just take the sack there.
- 14:51>> Adam Emmert: Yeah, sure. I mean, you were in second or third and
- 14:5420 plus again either way, so who gives a crap?
- 14:57Like, yeah, but you're right, it wasn't the perfect decision.
- 15:00But I don't think that is nearly as impactful
- 15:03as the interception.
- 15:05>> Brandan Schulze: I just. I had to find one other one because you said just one, and so
- 15:08I. I had another one that immediately came to mind.
- 15:11>> Adam Emmert: So I appreciate you taking the challenge
- 15:14to it, man. Yeah. Neener. Neener, you win.
- 15:16Yeah.
- 15:17>> Brandan Schulze: DK Metcalf for catches, 104 yards
- 15:21and two. Just, what? One, the wild
- 15:24catch on the sideline where it catches it over the
- 15:26top of the dude and not only gets 2ft in
- 15:29bounds, I think he gets them those same 2ft
- 15:32down twice in a row and, stays
- 15:35in bounds. So incredible play there. That helps set up the
- 15:38charbonnet touchdown. And then he gets the touchdown
- 15:41of his own, getting behind the defense and then just pulling
- 15:43away.
- 15:44>> Adam Emmert: DK again, the huge shot downfield
- 15:47in those contested catches, man, that's what we want to see out
- 15:50of him. That's what we've been begging for out of him on the
- 15:53regular, and it seems like
- 15:55he has worked on it over the offseason. It feels like it's
- 15:58more of a strength than a liability, say, in
- 16:01years.
- 16:02>> Brandan Schulze: Previous, no offense, six catches, 60
- 16:05yards. It was nice to see the tight end getting involved a little bit, too.
- 16:07Barner, three catches, 13 yards. Yeah.
- 16:10Sugar bizkit. Noah Fant finally showed up today.
- 16:13Yeah. Okay.
- 16:14>> Adam Emmert: Yeah, he had a couple catches here, right?
- 16:16>> Brandan Schulze: You poo poo and no offense. Game for. That was a nice day by
- 16:19him.
- 16:20>> Adam Emmert: Yeah, it was fine. Yeah. I'm not doing a
- 16:22backflips over that one, like. But then again, I don't
- 16:25know how much of it is his fall. I just don't
- 16:28see a history with grubs play calling
- 16:31that shows me the tight ends are going to get, a bunch of love in
- 16:34his offense. And so for as many opportunities,
- 16:37I guess it was six receptions. Well,
- 16:40fine. That was a very good game by Noah fat. He showed up
- 16:43today. You guys are all right. Good job.
- 16:44>> Brandan Schulze: I think where it changed up was
- 16:47in the second half. We had that long period of
- 16:50where every single drive, it seemed like there were penalties. It
- 16:53was killing the, just the, any kind of sense
- 16:56of tempo that either team had going on.
- 16:59And finally, grub kind of, he went to that quick
- 17:02passing game, which, you know, for the longest stretch, it
- 17:05felt like, okay, we're not running the ball, we're trying
- 17:08all these deep passes. And yes, the
- 17:11offensive line isn't holding up, but are we doing
- 17:14anything to help out the offensive line? And
- 17:17I felt that finally, it was when that drive, and they're
- 17:20hitting no offhand over the middle, they're hit some shots to lock
- 17:23it. Jason finally got involved. It felt like they
- 17:26went up tempo, they went with the short throws,
- 17:28and it kind of took us out of that couple of
- 17:31quarters where it felt like the offense was doing nothing.
- 17:34>> Adam Emmert: I'm curious if they could get
- 17:37downhill, a little bit, that they would
- 17:40actually be able to, you know, sustain
- 17:42the drives and actually do it on a more regular
- 17:45basis. I think that's really it is. What we've seen through the offense
- 17:48through the first couple games here is that it's very
- 17:51streaky, and I think maybe that's what I
- 17:54was trying to allude to when it came to some
- 17:56of the concerns I
- 17:59had coming into this season with the way the offense might go
- 18:02and run pass ratio kind of things. And I
- 18:05think we're seeing that play out here a little bit. Again, we're
- 18:08going through dubs here, and if they can learn
- 18:11while stacking the Dubs, then that'd be
- 18:14great.
- 18:15>> Brandan Schulze: Third down efficiency, not the greatest today. Theory
- 18:18of eleven for 27%. A big part of
- 18:21that was they were into so many third longs
- 18:24and penalties having to do with a big part of
- 18:26that. Again, both teams having to deal with that.
- 18:29But, yeah, third down efficiency, not great
- 18:32for them. Even worse for the Dolphins. One of twelve,
- 18:35only 8% on third down and 0%
- 18:38on all of their fourth down attempts. They had three of
- 18:40them.
- 18:41>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. again, it's credit to the defense and, you know,
- 18:44keeping them from converting there and really shutting
- 18:47the door on them, really coming back, since he did let
- 18:50him hang around for so long. you know, I saw sugar man.
- 18:53They're talking about how he thought the play calling is
- 18:55elite. Okay. if you're, if
- 18:58you're into, you know, just throw it all over the yard kind of football,
- 19:01and that's your thing. then, yeah, I'm sure it was
- 19:04elite, just not for me. It's not my taste.
- 19:07And I think that there's some more consistency to be had within the
- 19:10offense if they can get to running the football, which,
- 19:13again, will help the offensive line, which had
- 19:15another really up and down performance today.
- 19:17>> Brandan Schulze: If the offensive line is struggling and
- 19:20it is that clear, you got to make a shift a
- 19:23little bit sooner away from some of those long
- 19:26developing plays and not just hoping that one of those
- 19:29shots is going to hit once again, that pulls you ahead. I
- 19:32want to see more m ball control, sustained
- 19:35drives, rather than, yeah, just going for the big
- 19:38play consistently.
- 19:39>> Adam Emmert: Hey, I like the explosiveness. You're going to need to have
- 19:42those. That's one of the biggest, difference
- 19:45makers for top level offenses is the amount of
- 19:47explosives. But with that said,
- 19:50yes, you do need the meat and potatoes of the playbook
- 19:53to kind of get you going. And
- 19:56my concern is, is that
- 19:58in the colder months of the year, when we get towards the end of
- 20:01the year, that if you're meat potatoes is a short passing
- 20:04game, it gets a lot harder for a team.
- 20:06>> Brandan Schulze: Yeah, get Kenny McIntosh a little bit more involved. He only had
- 20:09three carries, but it was nice to
- 20:12see Charbonnet kind of punishing
- 20:14that Miami defense toward the end of the game and
- 20:17then picking up a second touchdown, for sure.
- 20:20>> Adam Emmert: getting the executive producer Ryan's comment
- 20:23here, that is a true fact that they
- 20:26ran the ball more than 50% of the time, in
- 20:29game one. It's also a true fact that they, ran the ball
- 20:31around 25% to 30% in the last
- 20:34two. And then also in game one, that was
- 20:37the game where, if you recall, Gino was under
- 20:40freaking siege, like, they couldn't block anything,
- 20:43and so they almost were forced to
- 20:46go to the run game to get things going, rather
- 20:49than it being something that's setting up the rest of the offense and being
- 20:52a complimentary part of their offensive play
- 20:55calling. So, as far as that being a data point that
- 20:58I look at and say, yeah, that's what they want to be, and that's where they want to get
- 21:01to, I'm not sure I see it that way.
- 21:02>> Brandan Schulze: But again, I'll just go back to just my surprise that
- 21:05when you're up by 14 points
- 21:08that there wasn't a little bit more running mixed in. But I
- 21:11think you countered that with the penalties thing. So I, that would be
- 21:14one thing on rewatch that I'd want to go back and check and just
- 21:17see how many of those drives were killed
- 21:20by, you know, early down penalties
- 21:23that put them behind the sticks to where then they were having to
- 21:26pass so frequently.
- 21:27>> Adam Emmert: Yeah.
- 21:28And again, I'll be
- 21:31thrilled to see what they do against the Lions. I think it's going to be
- 21:34fascinating to see with. I
- 21:36imagine that canine's back for that game. He's got to be back. He's going to be back.
- 21:40Right? He's going to be back.
- 21:41>> Brandan Schulze: Yeah, we, we want k nine back. We
- 21:44want to back because this could be
- 21:46the Nuosu return game. The reason why he didn't go on
- 21:49IR because it would be four weeks. We kind of thought
- 21:52that it would be around the Lions time
- 21:55before he could get back and,
- 21:58yeah, without those two guys, then I don't like our
- 22:01chances as much. It'll be fun watching the Lions. We got Derek
- 22:04in the chat saying, the Lions worry me. It'll be a good test for our
- 22:06defense. Hey, the defense has shown that
- 22:09they're up for any test versus any team,
- 22:12but they haven't quite yet been tested
- 22:15by an above mediocre quarterback.
- 22:18>> Adam Emmert: That's exactly right. So with that said, brandon, at, three and o,
- 22:21do you feel like a legit 30 or do you feel
- 22:24closer to a fraudulent three and. Oh, how do you, where's your gut
- 22:27on this?
- 22:27>> Brandan Schulze: Oh, I feel closer.
- 22:30Just my personal feelings. I feel closer like,
- 22:33I, I feel like it could go badly at some point
- 22:36to where we come back down to earth. Whereas
- 22:39a Vikings fan, after a game like today, I'm
- 22:42thinking maybe, the Vikings are legit.
- 22:45Saints fell back to earth a little bit. I
- 22:48think we have that ability because the offense,
- 22:51I think, can score and play with anybody in any
- 22:53defense. And then it's, it's a
- 22:56hard, it's hard to say because, Dude, you're putting me in a tough
- 22:59spot here. Come on.
- 23:00>> Adam Emmert: That's okay. I just was curious what your feelings. Cause I,
- 23:03For me personally, yeah. I know that
- 23:06the other NFC west fans and that sort of thing are
- 23:09you. Come at you. Oh, yeah. Who'd you be, your bunch of frauds?
- 23:14And look, at the end of the day, are these good
- 23:16teams? Absolutely not. Like, I don't think the
- 23:19Patriots are going to be actually good, but they're tougher than you
- 23:22think. And this version of the
- 23:25Dolphins is just bad. It's,
- 23:28they're in a tough spot. They emotionally, as a team, had to
- 23:31be pretty low coming into this game with losing to the week
- 23:34prior. you know, as far as the Broncos rookie quarterback
- 23:37on the road, first go, none of the wins
- 23:40are super impressive. And it's not like the Hawks went out
- 23:43and just beat the brakes off of each and every one of these teams either.
- 23:46So I'm not going to say it's fraudulent, but I'm not
- 23:48like, we're three and o in, we're coming for
- 23:51everybody scalps. Like, it doesn't quite feel that
- 23:54way to me yet, but this could be the game where
- 23:57they go out and really prove it. They go to four
- 24:00and o here, and all of a sudden I'm
- 24:03thinking division title. Like, it's within
- 24:06their grasp.
- 24:07>> Brandan Schulze: Yeah. They have the ability to show that they're
- 24:09legit. Stopping an offense. Yeah. Because if the
- 24:12defense stops an offense like the Lions and they
- 24:15get after Jared Goff, which I think this defensive
- 24:18line absolutely has the ability to do. Yeah,
- 24:21I can feel a whole lot better. So maybe, maybe it is just
- 24:24guarded. I'm not really, you know, ready
- 24:27to go on one side of the fence or another, Adam. I'm
- 24:30just staying guardedly optimistic that this team
- 24:33is legit.
- 24:34>> Adam Emmert: Yeah, that totally feels like your mo. They're not going to make a
- 24:36decision, not going to, you know, do anything and have
- 24:39a declaration about it. But, yeah,
- 24:42I mean, these garbage teams I was seeing on one of the comments here, there we
- 24:45go. From Derek. Yeah.
- 24:48didn't it feel like in the, at least the last couple of years
- 24:51that we'd have one of those losses,
- 24:54inexplicably to a team where you're like, you got to get that one? Oh,
- 24:57yeah, these were those teams and we got them all,
- 25:00and that's really.
- 25:02>> Brandan Schulze: A big deal, I think, and putting the
- 25:04defense in tough positions and
- 25:07watching them pull out of it, that's been.
- 25:09>> Brandan Schulze: That's been another fun part of this, too. And then you
- 25:12look over and see how the Ravens are doing. I think. Did they
- 25:15actually get the win over the Cowboys? I know it got awfully close there toward
- 25:18the end. They, the Cowboys pulled within three, I think, right
- 25:21before we had to go live and, okay. Yeah,
- 25:24they made a game of it, so it was real close.
- 25:27That Ravens defense has definitely changed without Mike
- 25:30McDonald there calling the shots.
- 25:31>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. I mean, it's not just coach Mike,
- 25:34either. Like, there's some brain drain there, right? Anthony Weaver, who we
- 25:37just faced, you know, he, he left as well.
- 25:40And we should probably give the Dolphins defense some
- 25:43credit for making it hard on the offense there for a minute, but I'm not
- 25:46going to.
- 25:46>> Brandan Schulze: Well, our seahawks, they get the win at, 24 to three,
- 25:49Adam, and we got this Lions game to look forward
- 25:52to. And the fact that it's now going to be in
- 25:55prime time. This is going to be just yet another
- 25:58new test for a Mike McDonald team,
- 26:00a relatively new coaching staff all
- 26:03working together. They get to go and play under the
- 26:06lights and do it against the Detroit Lions.
- 26:09>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. Into Clinton's point in the chat,
- 26:12isn't that Gino north, isn't that.
- 26:14He owns Ford Field. He. He lights it up there
- 26:17every single time. And, yeah, defense
- 26:20plan well. Gino playing well. Just get that run
- 26:23game going a little bit, and all of a sudden,
- 26:26I'm, I'm dreaming.
- 26:27>> Brandan Schulze: Big mike in the chat. Holy flag fest. Yes.
- 26:30That.
- 26:30I feel like that describes this game perfectly.
- 26:33It. For two quarters, it was almost
- 26:36unwatchable with the number of
- 26:38flags that came in. A, number of. I forget
- 26:41how many were just procedural penalties
- 26:44on the day, whether it was. Yeah. Dudes lining up, whether it was
- 26:47special teams, whether it was offense. So
- 26:50many penalties.
- 26:52>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. Some weird officiating moments throughout the game,
- 26:55too. For example, like, did it help that
- 26:58they didn't call roughing, out of bounds at all today?
- 27:01Yeah, that helped. how many times did we push their
- 27:04dudes while out of bounds and never a flag? That was nice, I
- 27:06guess. and then watching Mike McDaniel have a
- 27:09freaking hissy fit meltdown, over
- 27:12another procedural penalty. Plus, they kind of whistled it dead.
- 27:15And you could see him, on the screen. It's like, that's catfish
- 27:18twice and, like, so bad.
- 27:21It was fun.
- 27:21>> Brandan Schulze: Eleven penalties for 85 yards for the
- 27:24Dolphins. Eleven penalties for 92 yards
- 27:27for the Seahawks. 22 penalties
- 27:30called, and those are just the accepted
- 27:32penalties?
- 27:33>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. Yeah. I I wish the Seahawks could
- 27:36have gotten it together a little bit more and scored just one
- 27:39more time, you know, before going into that fourth quarter to
- 27:42really make it an easy cruise. And not only that, but up
- 27:4517 three at the end of the first quarter. I had the
- 27:48Seahawks for over 24 and a half on our betting show this
- 27:51week, and I was like, oh, I'm hitting that
- 27:53easy. Here we go. Nope.
- 27:56And then they kneeled out at midfield right at the end of the game, too,
- 27:59so it hurt my feelings.
- 28:01>> Brandan Schulze: Yeah, that's a tough one when it's when, when
- 28:04you get 17 points in the first quarter. And I think
- 28:07that Seahawks fans as a whole were kind of feeling
- 28:10that, too, because if you were able to put up that many points
- 28:13right away, you're like, why don't we just keep scoring? Can
- 28:16we just not keep scoring? Because we, we did it in the first quarter. Let's just keep
- 28:19doing that.
- 28:19>> Adam Emmert: Yeah. but no, we, we couldn't keep doing that.
- 28:22We had to let, the dolphins hang around, maybe just
- 28:25give them some false hope so that you could crush, it going
- 28:28down the stretch and make it even tougher plane ride back
- 28:31to Miami. And honestly, on the inside, that gives me a
- 28:34warm fuzzy. I don't even mind that so much.
- 28:36>> Brandan Schulze: You must be feeling crushed as a Dolphins
- 28:39fan after a game like this because, yeah,
- 28:42I mean, you, you watch Skyler Thompson come in and be,
- 28:45you know, he completed some passes, 13 to 19, and then
- 28:48Tim Boyle comes in. Now you're down to Tim Boyle. Yeah,
- 28:51I'm with Sojin. I wanted a 40 burger to hang it on the
- 28:54Dolphins with the three points. That would have felt like a more
- 28:56complete game.
- 28:58>> Adam Emmert: Absolutely. But, hey, we get another
- 29:00dub and it was honestly a fairly
- 29:03easy watch, in terms of stress. I'll
- 29:06take that. When's the last time we've had that? And watching
- 29:09everybody else in the division except for the Rams,
- 29:11winning. I mean, it's a perfect day, dude.
- 29:14Perfect day.
- 29:15>> Brandan Schulze: Perfect day for our Seahawks, perfect day
- 29:18for Seahawks fans. And we will be back next
- 29:21week, Monday Night football post game. Be
- 29:24sure and check out all our shows throughout the week leading up to it as
- 29:27well. We've got three in, three out coming up on

- 29:32subscribed. And yeah, if you're in our discord,
- 29:35if you're not there, you can go to getintheflock.com, join our
- 29:38discord. You can put your ins and outs in the three and three

- 29:49our what if show. And, yeah, all
- 29:52of our other shows, the PNW prop star show.
- 29:55Lots of stuff coming up as we lead into
- 29:58going toward four and o.
- 29:59>> Adam Emmert: Adam hopefully going to four and o. And
- 30:02if, I just wanted to give james's little
- 30:05airbnb a shout out, only because he just finished it. It's
- 30:08brand new. It's ready to rock. If you're coming to montana and you're
- 30:11looking for a killer place to stay. Hilltop cabin, lookout
- 30:14at rock creek. Check it out. And, hey,
- 30:16man, we won big today. Maybe I have to
- 30:19go over there again next weekend, because maybe that's where the good
- 30:22juju is.
- 30:23>> Brandan Schulze: You never know. You, you always, always want to make sure that you keep up those
- 30:26streaks, though, because one of us may have
- 30:29the impact, may have the good juju, and you
- 30:32never want to lose it.
- 30:33>> Adam Emmert: That's right. So, man three and o. It
- 30:36feels damn good. And I think with that, there's only one
- 30:39thing left to say. Go, Hawks. Go,
- 30:41Hawkshe.
