- 0:02Speaker 1: This is college football with Stugatz and the Bear.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Now it's go time.
- 0:07Speaker 3: T-Bob is with us. Wake up, barstool.
- 0:09Speaker 4: And then at the time of greatest triumph, I want
- 0:12Speaker 4: to suck from the cup of their tears.
- 0:14Speaker 2: I want to watch their women.
- 0:16Speaker 4: And children writhing on the ground. Everything that is precious
- 0:20Speaker 4: to Ole Miss, everything they pray for when they lay
- 0:22Speaker 4: their head down at night and they talk to their creator,
- 0:25Speaker 4: you want to take all of that and you want
- 0:27Speaker 4: to melt it in front of their faces and pour
- 0:29Speaker 4: it back down their throat.
- 0:31Speaker 2: And execute them.
- 0:32Speaker 3: I mean, who cares?
- 0:33Speaker 2: What, are you kidding me?
- 0:35Speaker 4: If I heard somebody utter those words, I would throw
- 0:38Speaker 4: them out the second story of the football life.
- 0:41Speaker 2: I love you boys.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Welcome in to episode three of College Football with Stugatz
- 0:46Speaker 1: and Bear. Magically, somehow, we have gotten T-Bob to appear
- 0:50Speaker 1: on all three of the episodes so far. We'll get
- 0:53Speaker 1: to him in a second. Mikey, what was going on here?
- 0:55Speaker 1: Of course, I was the latest to the Zoom here, so.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And I heard Bear and T-Bob just dorking out on
- 1:01Speaker 1: college football. Can you can you explain to me in
- 1:04Speaker 1: the audience what the hell was happening?
- 1:06Speaker 5: They were just so deep in the weeds about which
- 1:09Speaker 5: games we want to talk about on the show. And
- 1:11Speaker 5: then T-Bob had mentioned that your daughter, Rachel, is going
- 1:15Speaker 5: to babysit while he takes his wife to the magic room,
- 1:18Speaker 5: which we just call adult alone time in my house.
- 1:21Speaker 2: I don't know. It's called the magic room.
- 1:26Speaker 4: Lounge.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Magic Room does not do it credit. The Magic Lounge.
- 1:31Speaker 2: Definitely underselling. That just puts a velvet couch on the
- 1:35Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 1:35Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Stu, how are you feeling?
- 1:39Speaker 4: Because right before we came on, I think you're a little,
- 1:42Speaker 4: you don't seem too excited about this little nighttime recording
- 1:47Speaker 4: we're doing here.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Okay, so let's take him behind the curtain here. We
- 1:50Speaker 1: are doing this Wednesday night at 8 p.m. T-Bob asked
- 1:54Speaker 1: if that was Eastern or Central, and if it was Central.
- 1:58Speaker 1: I would I'd be sleeping.
- 1:59Speaker 2: I would be doing the show.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm fine with it. You know, there's a Yankee Red
- 2:04Speaker 1: Sox game going on. Taylor says it's a must win game.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I'm engulfed in the hockey season. I prefer not doing
- 2:11Speaker 1: four shows in a day, but that's on me. OK,
- 2:13Speaker 1: that's not on anyone else but myself.
- 2:14Speaker 6: So I happily would be willing to hop online at
- 2:18Speaker 6: the Four Seasons Minneapolis on Friday morning. But I'm told
- 2:22Speaker 6: that gets Mikey very, very upset when I talk about.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Hotel wifi. So yes, yes.
- 2:27Speaker 1: But you send something like a manifesto this morning via text.
- 2:30Speaker 2: I mean, it's.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Just bears full show rundowns via text. Yes.
- 2:35Speaker 2: No Google doc action here.
- 2:36Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, no, no.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Full text. Hell yes. Old school. No, just here. Communication notes,
- 2:43Speaker 2: app text.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Listen, I know you two are prepared, so I don't
- 2:47Speaker 3: have to be.
- 2:47Speaker 2: So I've had a T-Bob take us wherever you want
- 2:50Speaker 2: to go. What do you got Mikey?
- 2:51Speaker 5: Is it passive aggressive, Bear, to just take that giant
- 2:55Speaker 5: text that you sent with all that wonderful takes and
- 2:58Speaker 5: information and give it the thumbs up?
- 3:01Speaker 2: Is it passive aggressive to do that?
- 3:04Speaker 6: The thumbs up is probably more passive aggressive than the– congratulations,
- 3:10Speaker 6: or I feel sorry for you.
- 3:11Speaker 2: I'm not reading all that. I'd rather get the thumbs
- 3:15Speaker 2: up than that.
- 3:15Speaker 3: The thumbs up is to let you know that you
- 3:17Speaker 3: looked at it, but you didn't actually.
- 3:18Speaker 2: Correct.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Oh, good.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Good. You sensed it. Thanks.
- 3:20Speaker 4: Appreciate it. I was actually having this conversation earlier today
- 3:25Speaker 4: on another show, which is that, yeah, like adding one
- 3:30Speaker 4: of those reactions to a text, is the perfect way
- 3:33Speaker 4: to end a text conversation, but there are levels to it.
- 3:38Speaker 4: A heart means like, I genuinely enjoyed that, but now
- 3:41Speaker 4: it's over.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Okay, goodbye.
- 3:42Speaker 4: Exclamation's like, wow, I agree, but I'm not going to
- 3:45Speaker 4: expound on it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Thumbs up is like, get the fuck out of here.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I'm good. Yeah, please. I'm good. No more.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Mikey, put it on the poll.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's thumbs up. Get the fuck out of here. Yes
- 3:58Speaker 2: or no.
- 3:58Speaker 4: All right. Well, let's start with some news then. We'll
- 4:03Speaker 4: start with news, and it's not going to be Burkett
- 4:05Speaker 4: College Scorps Act, okay? God, I just really fumbled that phonetically.
- 4:10Speaker 2: PPCSA, right? Yeah, we're not going to talk that. That's
- 4:13Speaker 2: got to go to the House.
- 4:14Speaker 4: It's a long way off until we've got to deal
- 4:16Speaker 4: with that speck of luck. What we are going to
- 4:18Speaker 4: talk about Bayer is the 2014 playoff. So I told
- 4:22Speaker 4: somebody yesterday, it just feels inevitable at this point. There's
- 4:27Speaker 4: too many people that benefit from expansion, even if it
- 4:33Speaker 4: waters down the product.
- 4:35Speaker 2: To the viewer.
- 4:36Speaker 4: And even if no viewer wants it, there's too many
- 4:38Speaker 4: people making a lot of money that would stand to
- 4:40Speaker 4: make even more money and have less risk in terms
- 4:43Speaker 4: of job security if it expands. So, Bear, do you
- 4:46Speaker 4: agree that it basically feels like an inevitability?
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yes.
- 4:50Speaker 6: Yes, I do agree that it's going to happen. Whether
- 4:53Speaker 6: you like it, I like it, Stu likes it, Mike,
- 4:57Speaker 6: it doesn't matter. The power brokers in the sport want it.
- 5:00Speaker 6: More importantly, the TV partners want it. Fox, ESPN, They
- 5:05Speaker 6: want more inventory. They want playoff games. They want games
- 5:08Speaker 6: that matter. And what happens now to some of the
- 5:10Speaker 6: other bowls that people say they love and care about,
- 5:13Speaker 6: are they ultimately going to go away? We're talking about
- 5:16Speaker 6: conference championship games getting bought out and nonexistent, which I
- 5:20Speaker 6: don't necessarily hate.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I mean, I know a conference title.
- 5:25Speaker 6: It felt like the SEC was really the only one
- 5:28Speaker 6: that ultimately mattered for the longest time, that the Big
- 5:30Speaker 6: Ten won does matter. but it feels like the ACC
- 5:34Speaker 6: and the Big 12 were just kind of there to
- 5:37Speaker 6: take up space. Whether you agree or disagree, I don't care.
- 5:41Speaker 6: But I am not a proponent of 24. I was wrong.
- 5:45Speaker 6: I thought four was good, but 12 has worked out perfectly.
- 5:50Speaker 6: 12 is a good amount. 16 is a bit of
- 5:52Speaker 6: a stretch. 24 is just participation trophy. Look, what are
- 5:56Speaker 6: we doing now all week long is bitching and moaning
- 5:59Speaker 6: about About the AP poll and why is Missouri still ranked?
- 6:03Speaker 6: Why is this team ranked? Well, not only are you
- 6:04Speaker 6: going to be ranked now, they're going to be in
- 6:06Speaker 6: the frigging playoff. So I like we're rewarding like an
- 6:10Speaker 6: eight and 14 from the sec or the big 10
- 6:12Speaker 6: that happened to beat somebody good bottom. Like last year, Arizona,
- 6:17Speaker 6: Virginia would have been a playoff game.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Who wants that?
- 6:20Speaker 6: Really?
- 6:20Speaker 2: I don't. Right.
- 6:22Speaker 3: I'm not certain 12's not a stretch, but T-Bob, I
- 6:24Speaker 3: ask you this.
- 6:24Speaker 1: You guys care about college football more than any two
- 6:28Speaker 1: people that I know. So T-Bob, and you care about
- 6:30Speaker 1: the history, the traditions of college football. Do you want
- 6:33Speaker 1: it expanded? Do you want that, T-Bob?
- 6:35Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 6:36Speaker 4: I mean, I'm pretty part and parcel with everything, or
- 6:40Speaker 4: pretty hand-in-hand with everything that.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Bear just said. I mean, if you think it's hard
- 6:48Speaker 2: to choose 11 and.
- 6:49Speaker 3: 12 at large.
- 6:52Speaker 4: And how in the world are you going to separate
- 6:55Speaker 4: 23 and 24?
- 6:55Speaker 2: Right. When you have 10 teams.
- 6:58Speaker 4: That are all eight and four that didn't play each
- 7:00Speaker 4: other that have barely any common opponents. Like, it's going
- 7:05Speaker 4: to be absurd. And you're taking away so much of
- 7:09Speaker 4: the luster of college football. And, yes, it works in
- 7:14Speaker 4: basketball because basketball is a sport where the upsets can
- 7:17Speaker 4: happen at a higher rate.
- 7:20Speaker 2: The game isn't as intense. You can play more games.
- 7:23Speaker 2: In football, that's not the case. And to lose– and, honestly, this.
- 7:28Speaker 4: Is something I think about a lot because, you know,
- 7:31Speaker 4: Every day, it's the inexorable march of time. We're just
- 7:33Speaker 4: hurtling towards the grave because of how we experience time.
- 7:36Speaker 4: The more time we experience, the faster the next piece
- 7:38Speaker 4: of time goes. So we're literally just hurtling towards death.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Things are going to change. We have to accept it. But, but, man,
- 7:47Speaker 4: it hurts to lose conference championships. Like, for me and
- 7:51Speaker 4: my personal fandom, those are some of my core memories
- 7:54Speaker 4: as an LSU fan with my grandpa as a player.
- 7:58Speaker 4: winning those games. But I guess it's just the nature
- 8:02Speaker 4: of the beast. Cause if we're being honest, we already
- 8:05Speaker 4: lost the, the, the new year's day bowls, right? Like, like, like,
- 8:10Speaker 4: like they are not what they were.
- 8:11Speaker 2: That used to be akin to winning the championship.
- 8:14Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:14Speaker 2: You care about one of those. You got to lift
- 8:16Speaker 2: a trophy. You got confetti. You might've gotten a ring
- 8:20Speaker 2: depending on what school you went to. Citrus bowl. And
- 8:22Speaker 2: like all those outback bowl, all those games were great.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Yes.
- 8:26Speaker 1: But the other thing, The other thing an expanded playoff does,
- 8:29Speaker 1: it gives coaches, and I think T-Bob was alluding to this,
- 8:31Speaker 1: it gives them even more job security than they already
- 8:35Speaker 1: have because.
- 8:35Speaker 3: They can just point and say, hey, we made the playoffs.
- 8:38Speaker 1: But making the playoffs in an expanded playoff doesn't mean
- 8:41Speaker 1: your team was good and doesn't mean that you did
- 8:43Speaker 1: a good coaching job.
- 8:45Speaker 6: If you miss the playoff, there's going to be hell
- 8:47Speaker 6: to pay. How the hell didn't you make the playoff?
- 8:49Speaker 6: We have 24 teams in here now. They're going to
- 8:51Speaker 6: want to run your ass out even more now.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Lincoln Riley will be sitting at number 25 and he'll
- 8:55Speaker 1: still be complaining.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Even USC and Lincoln Riley will make the playoff now.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I think college head football coaches may be the most
- 9:04Speaker 4: paradoxical people we have on the planet in that they
- 9:08Speaker 4: coach the toughest sport and they demand toughness and commitment
- 9:14Speaker 4: and and perfection, and all these things, and yet they
- 9:17Speaker 4: are the most sensitive, most rabbit-eared, most soft, most excuse-shitting
- 9:24Speaker 4: out people we got in sports.
- 9:26Speaker 7: Like, oh, we went to nine games in the SEC
- 9:29Speaker 7: because you told us we were going to expand the playoff. Like, oh,
- 9:32Speaker 7: I need to play these cupcake games because I have
- 9:35Speaker 7: to be eligible.
- 9:36Speaker 2: By the end.
- 9:37Speaker 4: Going after a B-rider to make $ 60K when you're going
- 9:39Speaker 4: to pay $ 10 million because your team sucks?
- 9:42Speaker 3: Yes.
- 9:42Speaker 2: And you lost again?
- 9:44Speaker 3: I put it right up there with sports.
- 9:45Speaker 2: Media in terms of sensitive. It just makes me so upset.
- 9:51Speaker 4: So they demand doing hard things. They demand all these
- 9:53Speaker 4: things and they refuse to do it themselves. And now
- 9:56Speaker 4: we're getting a watered down 2014 playoff where everybody makes
- 9:59Speaker 4: it but you know what but here's the question guys
- 10:03Speaker 4: we're gonna watch.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Yeah man yeah yeah here's the question desires excuse me
- 10:10Speaker 1: for one second here's the question What voice were you
- 10:13Speaker 1: doing before?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Who was that? Oh, I don't know.
- 10:16Speaker 1: It was like, you look like Satan talking college football
- 10:20Speaker 1: right now.
- 10:21Speaker 7: I don't want to play non-conference games. I want to
- 10:24Speaker 7: stay at eight. Can I get Western Kentucky instead.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Of Ohio State? You're only paying me $ 12 million. I
- 10:32Speaker 2: won eight games last year. Like, what the fuck?
- 10:35Speaker 4: Half these guys are getting paid over a million to
- 10:36Speaker 4: win they want easier schedules sorry sorry sorry and i'm
- 10:42Speaker 4: sorry i'm sorry the point is we're all gonna watch
- 10:47Speaker 4: and that's what ultimately betrays us because the numbers will
- 10:50Speaker 4: go up the money will go up and it's our
- 10:51Speaker 4: fault because we're not willing to actually vote with our
- 10:53Speaker 4: eyeballs i don't.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Want to i want to watch college football so right
- 10:56Speaker 2: it is what it is.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Fan of playoff here we come all right but you
- 10:58Speaker 4: know what that's for the future Let's lock in for
- 11:01Speaker 4: this weekend because we've got another excellent slate.
- 11:03Speaker 2: And one time when the game still is great is
- 11:06Speaker 2: on Saturday, guys.
- 11:07Speaker 4: Yep.
- 11:08Speaker 2: And there, look at what's going down in Iowa. Uh-oh.
- 11:12Speaker 4: Hawkeyes fresh off beating Michigan, looking to go two for
- 11:17Speaker 4: two amongst the Big Ten Blue Blood heavyweights. Ohio State
- 11:21Speaker 4: coming to town this weekend. Bear, talk to me about
- 11:25Speaker 4: why Iowa's going to win this game. Hmm.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Why have you gone silent?
- 11:31Speaker 6: You wanted me to talk about why Iowa's going to
- 11:33Speaker 6: win the game, so I was just not saying anything. No,
- 11:37Speaker 6: they cannot drag Ohio State into an Iowa game. They
- 11:42Speaker 6: cannot Iowa Ohio State. Look at what Just think back
- 11:47Speaker 6: what happened last week in that game. A kick return
- 11:51Speaker 6: touchdown and pick at the goal line, stop a two-point conversion,
- 11:55Speaker 6: you get a 22-yard field goal attempt, and then two
- 11:58Speaker 6: ridiculous completions at.
- 12:00Speaker 2: The end of the game. I mean, you know what
- 12:04Speaker 2: they call that, Stu?
- 12:05Speaker 6: Iowa.
- 12:06Speaker 2: They call that winning.
- 12:07Speaker 3: Iowa football.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I mean, that's Iowa. That's how they do it there.
- 12:11Speaker 3: That is how they do it. That's how they win
- 12:12Speaker 3: football games, Bear.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But I think what Bear is saying, first off, I
- 12:14Speaker 1: think that Ohio State having a loss actually helps.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Them in this game.
- 12:18Speaker 1: They can't afford to lose another game here, and they
- 12:20Speaker 1: certainly can't afford to lose to Iowa. I just think
- 12:23Speaker 1: Ohio State's a much better team. And it's probably going
- 12:26Speaker 1: to steamroll on that. It was ridiculous them beating Michigan.
- 12:29Speaker 1: I mean, the way they beat Michigan was almost as
- 12:32Speaker 1: ridiculous as the way Michigan won their first game. I mean,
- 12:35Speaker 1: you know, it really was in some sort of weird,
- 12:37Speaker 1: strange way because Iowa had no business winning that football game.
- 12:41Speaker 3: But as T-Bob pointed out, that's Iowa football.
- 12:43Speaker 1: They muck it up and that's how they win games.
- 12:45Speaker 6: And the interesting thing is when they're a double digit dog. Like,
- 12:49Speaker 6: it has not gone well for them lately. If you
- 12:52Speaker 6: go back, since they beat Urban and Ohio State and
- 12:55Speaker 6: JT through the four picks in 2017, when they bit
- 12:58Speaker 6: a double-digit dog, they've lost all seven of those games
- 13:02Speaker 6: by nearly 30 points a game. Remember that Big Ten
- 13:03Speaker 6: championship game a couple years ago was just an embarrassing loss?
- 13:06Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Against Michigan, that's.
- 13:09Speaker 6: More than likely what we are getting when Iowa takes
- 13:13Speaker 6: on a double-digit favorite like they are in this game.
- 13:17Speaker 6: We killed Bryce Underwood, but he had the one pick
- 13:21Speaker 6: last week that was really big in the game. I
- 13:23Speaker 6: don't want to sugarcoat that, but he threw for almost
- 13:27Speaker 6: 300 yards. I know Phil Parker is a defensive guru.
- 13:32Speaker 6: What is Jeremiah Smith and Julian? What are they going
- 13:34Speaker 6: to do to that Iowa defense if if it Bryce
- 13:38Speaker 6: Underwood's to have it a field day against him.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Little, little, little love food for thought here, boys.
- 13:44Speaker 4: Last year, Indiana was the most dynamic offense in the
- 13:48Speaker 4: entire country. They required a last second drive to beat Iowa. Oregon,
- 13:54Speaker 4: one of the most dynamic, skilled, fast offenses in the
- 13:58Speaker 4: entire country. They required a last second drive in Iowa. So,
- 14:02Speaker 4: I mean, I'm just saying, yeah, Just saying, dude.
- 14:08Speaker 2: I hate this quote from Sark.
- 14:09Speaker 4: He said, quote, this is a big opportunity for our
- 14:11Speaker 4: team to go to a tough road environment against a
- 14:13Speaker 4: very good team and get a win. That would certainly
- 14:16Speaker 4: build a lot of momentum for our season as we
- 14:18Speaker 4: move forward. That's not somebody who thinks they're going to lose.
- 14:22Speaker 4: He's talking about just using it as a vaulting pad
- 14:26Speaker 4: to leap.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Over the rest of the schedule.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Mikey, have you already taken Ohio State here? No.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I took them before the season started like this is
- 14:37Speaker 5: this is already written.
- 14:38Speaker 4: Okay and i said i said sorry excuse me i
- 14:40Speaker 4: met ryan day but get ready to learn iowa guys
- 14:44Speaker 4: okay ference this is.
- 14:45Speaker 2: His year i can feel it in my balls right
- 14:48Speaker 2: i think bear is trying to tell you to learn
- 14:50Speaker 2: get ready to learn.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Ohio state well he knows ohio state already well i
- 14:54Speaker 6: was gonna say i guess the problem is if you
- 14:56Speaker 6: know learning i was like watching them lose this game
- 14:59Speaker 6: by 20 and Jeremiah Smith spinning the corner back around 18.
- 15:01Speaker 2: I'd rather not learn Iowa. How's that sound?
- 15:03Speaker 4: I mean, one thing, one thing you did nail those two,
- 15:06Speaker 4: and this is some of the value in scheduling hard
- 15:10Speaker 4: games early in the season to Ohio state already having
- 15:14Speaker 4: gone on the road to Texas.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Yes.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Like they are, they, they got some scar tissue built
- 15:19Speaker 4: up and, and, and they know they have learned firsthand that,
- 15:23Speaker 4: the consequences of even a brief lapse in judgment. So, yeah,
- 15:28Speaker 4: I actually think Ohio State wins here. But I think
- 15:30Speaker 4: it's closer than maybe we're giving it credit for.
- 15:31Speaker 2: But I think Ohio State wins. All right, let's do this.
- 15:34Speaker 2: We've got a lot more games to get to.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Let's take a quick break, and we'll be right back
- 15:38Speaker 4: on the college football show, which you've got to bear.
- 16:05Speaker 2: All right, next game on the list here, guys. And
- 16:08Speaker 2: this one, ooh, man.
- 16:11Speaker 4: This is a chance to either be completely boring or legendary,
- 16:16Speaker 4: and that is No. 7, Alabama, hitting the road to
- 16:20Speaker 4: Starkville to take on the undefeated 16th-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs.
- 16:25Speaker 4: And Bear, with this game, it's impossible not to start
- 16:29Speaker 4: with the quarterbacks.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Right.
- 16:30Speaker 4: Kamaru Taylor and Keelan Russell are two of... the top
- 16:34Speaker 4: newcomers in the entire country in college football quarterweight.
- 16:38Speaker 2: Through the season.
- 16:39Speaker 6: You look at Keelan, he threw out 375 total yards
- 16:44Speaker 6: against Florida State, 400 last week against South Carolina, over
- 16:48Speaker 6: 11 yards a play. I mentioned it earlier in the week,
- 16:51Speaker 6: but South Carolina, I mean, Mississippi State's defense getting a
- 16:54Speaker 6: couple of big plays late against Missouri to get them
- 16:57Speaker 6: the win, but now the rubber hits the road here
- 16:59Speaker 6: for both of these teams. You look at the upcoming stretchers,
- 17:03Speaker 6: especially for Alabama with what they have coming up. This
- 17:07Speaker 6: was obviously a must-win for them with having Georgia coming up,
- 17:11Speaker 6: going to Tennessee, going to LSU. The great start that
- 17:15Speaker 6: Alabama has is all for naught, I think, if they
- 17:18Speaker 6: drop this game because I think you'll see them picking
- 17:20Speaker 6: up a couple more losses. And this is the biggest
- 17:24Speaker 6: game for the Bullies in a hell of a long time,
- 17:26Speaker 6: probably since that Auburn game or the Alabama game on
- 17:29Speaker 6: the road. uh, that they lost in 20 and 2014
- 17:32Speaker 6: when Dan was slowing the game down to try and
- 17:34Speaker 6: keep that scoring margin down. Maybe that they could still
- 17:37Speaker 6: kind of hang in the top four. So I'm going
- 17:40Speaker 6: back and forth. I think Mississippi state is a, a,
- 17:43Speaker 6: an underdog that is garnering a lot of support. Alabama
- 17:48Speaker 6: had a reduced number by the end, but might be
- 17:50Speaker 6: the way you want to go here. But I, I hate,
- 17:54Speaker 6: I don't want to bet against Mario Taylor anymore. I
- 17:56Speaker 6: did it last week and came back with egg on
- 17:58Speaker 6: my face. So, um, I'm going to sit back and
- 18:00Speaker 6: just enjoy this one as a fan. All games are
- 18:03Speaker 6: not meant to be bet.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And this is one of them.
- 18:05Speaker 1: Fair to say, guys, if he beats Alabama at home,
- 18:08Speaker 1: he gets a statue.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I mean, it's kind of exactly what has been rattling
- 18:15Speaker 4: around in my head, which is already he's doing great things.
- 18:21Speaker 4: And really, how we think about a person when it
- 18:24Speaker 4: comes to sports, it's never just objectively.
- 18:26Speaker 2: What you do. It's really....
- 18:29Speaker 4: How it relates to expectations, right? And so already he's
- 18:32Speaker 4: kind of starting to blow those out the water. But
- 18:34Speaker 4: if you want to take a nuke to those expectations
- 18:37Speaker 4: and really blow people's hair back to your points, Stu,
- 18:40Speaker 4: this is where you have an opportunity to write your legend.
- 18:44Speaker 4: Because this is a beatable Alabama team. I think they're
- 18:47Speaker 4: better than Mississippi State. And I think this game could
- 18:50Speaker 4: follow the same rhythm that a couple of the other
- 18:52Speaker 4: games have.
- 18:53Speaker 1: But Bear, there is something about beating Alabama. Remember what
- 18:57Speaker 1: it did for Johnny Manziel. I know he did it.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I think he did it at Alabama, this game at home.
- 19:01Speaker 1: But there is something still about beating that team, about
- 19:04Speaker 1: beating that brand that would probably vault him. Not that
- 19:07Speaker 1: he's not already there, but very much into the upper
- 19:10Speaker 1: echelon of the Heisman conversation.
- 19:11Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 19:12Speaker 6: Clearly, if they were to win this game, he's definitely
- 19:16Speaker 6: up there with Mensah and probably goes to number one.
- 19:19Speaker 6: I would think that winning, he's going to have the
- 19:21Speaker 6: rest of the season to to go out there and
- 19:24Speaker 6: do it and keep those numbers up and win a
- 19:25Speaker 6: couple of more big games, uh, in, in the sec.
- 19:28Speaker 6: But yeah, this, this is going to be an awesome
- 19:31Speaker 6: game to watch.
- 19:32Speaker 4: Um, and, and one thing about this game is to me,
- 19:36Speaker 4: it's kind of what Camario Taylor represents in college football
- 19:41Speaker 4: as a whole. Cause we all know bear, uh, uh,
- 19:44Speaker 4: Stu that, that Miami, we know what your Miami hurricanes
- 19:49Speaker 4: want to do. They, want to come in next year.
- 19:51Speaker 4: They want to pay Kamaru Taylor $ 15 million to come
- 19:54Speaker 4: be the quarterback.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Why not $ 20 million?
- 19:56Speaker 3: He deserves it.
- 19:58Speaker 4: There's a million stories, examples of him saying, I'm staying,
- 20:01Speaker 4: I'm staying. And he wants to build a team that
- 20:03Speaker 4: will be memorable and stark.
- 20:05Speaker 2: Right now in.
- 20:05Speaker 4: College football, there's no greater resource than investor confidence. And
- 20:10Speaker 4: so if you have the money, people, that believe, okay,
- 20:14Speaker 4: we have the quarterback, we can beat Alabama, money will
- 20:18Speaker 4: begin to flow into this program like Jeff Levy couldn't believe.
- 20:22Speaker 2: You can start to surround him with more talent.
- 20:24Speaker 4: Like it represents nowadays a game like this represents a
- 20:28Speaker 4: potential launching pad for the program as a whole during
- 20:31Speaker 4: the Camario Taylor era. So this is as big of
- 20:34Speaker 4: a game in Starkville probably since, like you were alluding to, Bear,
- 20:39Speaker 4: over a decade ago, I think now at this point.
- 20:42Speaker 4: That said, I think Alabama, like I said, I think
- 20:45Speaker 4: it's close, just like Alabama did with Kentucky, just like
- 20:49Speaker 4: they did with Florida State. And then I think Alabama
- 20:51Speaker 4: likely pulls away at the end because the talent gap
- 20:54Speaker 4: is a bit too large.
- 20:56Speaker 3: Well, Bear, how do you feel about what he just said?
- 20:57Speaker 3: Because the games will come.
- 20:59Speaker 1: For Camario Taylor and like $ 15 million in Starkville.
- 21:03Speaker 2: That's like five bucks.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Down here in Miami.
- 21:05Speaker 6: So he's saying that he's saying the right things though.
- 21:11Speaker 6: And he's a local kid who, and we'll see ultimately
- 21:14Speaker 6: when a push comes to shove at the end of
- 21:16Speaker 6: the year, whether it's Miami, whether it's LSU, whether it's Texas,
- 21:21Speaker 6: whomever the, the dollar does, does talk.
- 21:25Speaker 2: And for some people, it matters. Some people, um, It doesn't. Well,
- 21:32Speaker 2: that story will be written.
- 21:34Speaker 4: So in a way, it's kind of like a proxy
- 21:36Speaker 4: word for the soul of college football. But again, if
- 21:39Speaker 4: you just look at the numbers right now, Keelan Russell,
- 21:43Speaker 4: fourth in the SEC in pass rating, Camaro second. Keelan Russell,
- 21:47Speaker 4: 280 yards a game. Camaro's at 290. They're both completing 70%
- 21:51Speaker 4: of his passes. They're both over 10 yards per attempt.
- 21:54Speaker 4: You are talking about two elite newcomers on the college
- 21:57Speaker 4: football stage. And for Alabama, This like, this is Kalen
- 22:03Speaker 4: DeBoer's year to make people believe that, yes, we're not
- 22:06Speaker 4: going to be the Saban era, but we're going to
- 22:09Speaker 4: show you that we're going to have an uptick because
- 22:12Speaker 4: right now they've never collapsed, but they've kind of slowly
- 22:15Speaker 4: been taking these steps back. And for, for DeBoer and company,
- 22:18Speaker 4: it's a show. No, no, we're still here. We're still
- 22:20Speaker 4: at least somewhat Alabama for Mississippi state.
- 22:23Speaker 2: It's like, okay, do you want to.
- 22:24Speaker 4: Evolve from being a cute story to an actual real team?
- 22:27Speaker 4: This is the game that you got to go win.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I mean, what do you think, Bear? Who do you
- 22:31Speaker 2: think ends up winning?
- 22:31Speaker 1: So I always love the team that's reminding everyone that, hey,
- 22:34Speaker 1: we're still Alabama.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I always like that advantage. Like, hey, we're here. You
- 22:38Speaker 2: have to beat us.
- 22:39Speaker 1: If you want to be talked about the way you
- 22:41Speaker 1: want to be talked about, you're going to have to
- 22:43Speaker 1: beat us.
- 22:44Speaker 3: We don't care if we play at home. We don't
- 22:45Speaker 3: care if we play on the road.
- 22:46Speaker 2: We've been there. We've done that. I always love that.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I'm surprised you guys are.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Leaning a little bit, it seems like Bear is, towards
- 22:52Speaker 1: Mississippi State because I think this is an unexpected good
- 22:55Speaker 1: opportunity for Alabama to pick up a really good victory
- 22:58Speaker 1: here on the road.
- 22:59Speaker 6: You saying that we're still reminds me of 2005 being
- 23:06Speaker 6: on the sideline for that game. Miami going to Virginia Tech,
- 23:10Speaker 6: and Virginia Tech I think was number two or three
- 23:13Speaker 6: or something in the country. at that point and I
- 23:15Speaker 6: can remember the scene there so I can remember Art
- 23:19Speaker 6: Kehoe long time offensive line.
- 23:21Speaker 8: Coach shout out he recruited me in high school shout
- 23:23Speaker 8: out coach Kehoe and I can remember him walking on
- 23:28Speaker 8: the sideline kind of looking around me like we're still
- 23:31Speaker 8: Miami and they went out and won I think 27-7
- 23:33Speaker 8: and just completely smothered Marcus Vick and Virginia Tech that
- 23:37Speaker 8: night so they're.
- 23:39Speaker 6: Opportunities for blue blood programs like this to where they
- 23:43Speaker 6: maybe feel a little slighted or when they feel like
- 23:45Speaker 6: they might be on upset alert.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Um, I'm with you, Stewie.
- 23:49Speaker 6: It's a good opportunity for Alabama to kind of be like, yeah, we're, we're,
- 23:52Speaker 6: we're still Alabama.
- 23:53Speaker 4: I look for me, Stu, what it is, is I'm just, uh, well,
- 23:57Speaker 4: I definitely hate Alabama. I always have, but, but more
- 24:00Speaker 4: so like, I.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Know someone that calls Alabama. I mean, I know someone
- 24:04Speaker 2: that says LS poo. It's a terribly juvenile joke.
- 24:10Speaker 3: I know. Shut up!
- 24:13Speaker 2: It's funny!
- 24:15Speaker 1: Mikey, you made a face like you just smelled poop!
- 24:20Speaker 4: No, I think for me, Stu, what it is, if
- 24:23Speaker 4: it's Alabama leading Mississippi State, I love narratives, right? When
- 24:28Speaker 4: it comes to college football, that is my favorite part
- 24:30Speaker 4: of the game, are the storylines that we see created
- 24:33Speaker 4: every Saturday, and Ooh, watching Mississippi State get a home
- 24:38Speaker 4: win with their chosen one, their prophesied messiah, like.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And slay the demon that is Alabama. I just can't.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Just sets my fantasy-loving heart alight.
- 24:50Speaker 1: Mikey, for the life of me, I had no idea
- 24:52Speaker 1: that at any point during this college football season, we
- 24:55Speaker 1: would spend 20 minutes on Mississippi State.
- 24:58Speaker 4: Hey, welcome to the college football show.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Not since Dak.
- 25:06Speaker 4: Which, by the way, Dak apparently talking to Camario to
- 25:10Speaker 4: get him to stay.
- 25:11Speaker 2: And if I had to imagine, also probably a great NIL.
- 25:14Speaker 3: Dak better pay.
- 25:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it's going to go beyond talking, to
- 25:18Speaker 4: be clear.
- 25:18Speaker 3: All right.
- 25:20Speaker 4: Next up on this list, speaking of narratives, what happens
- 25:24Speaker 4: when a once- slumbering beast wakes up again because that's
- 25:28Speaker 4: exactly what we've seen gone down in Gainesville, Florida this year.
- 25:32Speaker 4: Just like that, the Florida Gators, the Swamp, it's all back.
- 25:37Speaker 4: New head coach, Summerwell's got them all. Best running back
- 25:39Speaker 4: in the entire country. Only this week, Bear, shoes on
- 25:43Speaker 4: the other foot, right? Ole Miss, emotional win. Has to
- 25:46Speaker 4: go to the Swamp last week. Gets dominated. Now Florida,
- 25:50Speaker 4: emotional win. Has to immediately hit the road again. and
- 25:54Speaker 4: play a pretty damn good Missouri team, dude. I believe so,
- 25:57Speaker 4: at least. If they had Ahmad Hardy, they'd be really good.
- 26:01Speaker 4: What's your early read on this one?
- 26:04Speaker 6: I got burned by Missouri last week when I liked
- 26:07Speaker 6: them against Mississippi State. You talk about narratives and narrative-breaking
- 26:14Speaker 6: results and wins. We talked about joking about Missouri still
- 26:18Speaker 6: hanging around the rankings there, and why are we still
- 26:20Speaker 6: ranking them? This is the Missouri team that Eli Drinkwitz
- 26:24Speaker 6: in the regular season, 0-10 versus top 10 opponents. They
- 26:28Speaker 6: don't have a marquee win. Watch them now. You talked
- 26:33Speaker 6: about it last week. Nobody wanted to bet Florida. Everybody
- 26:37Speaker 6: wanted to bet Ole Miss. Now this week, everyone wants
- 26:40Speaker 6: to bet Florida. No one wants to bet Missouri. This
- 26:42Speaker 6: is a dangerous, dangerous game for Florida. The one big
- 26:47Speaker 6: question I have for Florida is if they happen to
- 26:51Speaker 6: get behind Can Aaron Filo, can they throw to make
- 26:57Speaker 6: a comeback? I think they probably can, but you need
- 27:01Speaker 6: to be in that position to ultimately see it. Now, look,
- 27:05Speaker 6: as a Florida fan, do you want to be in
- 27:06Speaker 6: that position? No, you want to be able to control
- 27:08Speaker 6: the line of scrimmage with your offensive and defensive line
- 27:11Speaker 6: and win up front, but you need to see if
- 27:14Speaker 6: Florida falls behind, if indeed. The thing is, their defense
- 27:18Speaker 6: has been bad. they've allowed a lot of yards through
- 27:23Speaker 6: the air. This could be an Austin Simmons type game
- 27:26Speaker 6: because he's another guy who has been fantastic this year
- 27:28Speaker 6: and not really getting a lot of talk in the
- 27:31Speaker 6: SEC just because Camario has been so good.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Yeah, the Ole Miss transfer, Kaden Lee, a receiver, was
- 27:38Speaker 4: great last week. Him and Austin Simmons, one of the
- 27:40Speaker 4: better early connections in the entirety of the SEC. I mean,
- 27:43Speaker 4: Austin Simmons, 11 touchdowns, no picks on the year thus far.
- 27:46Speaker 2: So as you alluded to, Bear, playing really good football.
- 27:48Speaker 2: Jamar Roberts, pretty good running back. But Stu, what travels
- 27:53Speaker 2: in football? You know what travels?
- 27:55Speaker 3: Defense.
- 27:56Speaker 2: That's right. Well, yes. But what else? Running game.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I mean, listen, I love ball. I'm a ball leaver.
- 28:03Speaker 1: How about that? You guys don't say the bear doesn't
- 28:06Speaker 1: seem to be a bear. What happens when you get
- 28:08Speaker 1: burned by a team like you did with Missouri? Will
- 28:10Speaker 1: you will you not go back to that team for
- 28:12Speaker 1: a couple of weeks? Like what happens there in terms
- 28:15Speaker 1: of betting strategy?
- 28:16Speaker 6: No, I'll go back to them. I went back to
- 28:19Speaker 6: the well with Auburn a few times last year. in
- 28:22Speaker 6: my super contest, like three straight weeks, if they had
- 28:24Speaker 6: the lead and we're covering the entire game and then
- 28:27Speaker 6: wind up not covering it, it ultimately killed me. No,
- 28:29Speaker 6: but I, as a, as a better, as a handicapper,
- 28:32Speaker 6: you need to have a very short memory, a short leash.
- 28:36Speaker 6: You just kind of forget things quickly or never hold
- 28:39Speaker 6: a grudge because who you hate one week is going
- 28:41Speaker 6: to be someone that you might wind up loving.
- 28:43Speaker 2: The next person.
- 28:43Speaker 6: Like everything in everything in my mind and what I
- 28:48Speaker 6: believe in tells me Missouri's the right side here.
- 28:51Speaker 3: Really? Wow. I like Florida's team. I do.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I love their coach. That's what I want my head
- 28:56Speaker 1: coach to talk like. That's how I want him to look.
- 28:59Speaker 3: 6 a.m.
- 29:00Speaker 4: Pump.
- 29:00Speaker 3: Yes. I just love his attitude.
- 29:02Speaker 1: For the first time in a long time, I could
- 29:03Speaker 1: say this. Florida looks like it has NFL players all
- 29:06Speaker 1: over the field. I don't know if they do or not.
- 29:08Speaker 1: It just physically looks like they're bigger than the other
- 29:11Speaker 1: teams that they're playing.
- 29:12Speaker 3: They're faster. than most of the teams they're playing.
- 29:14Speaker 1: It's the best Florida team, and I paid attention to
- 29:16Speaker 1: that program for a while now simply because my wife
- 29:19Speaker 1: goes to that school and.
- 29:21Speaker 3: We go to a ton of games. I will tell you,
- 29:23Speaker 3: that's the best they've looked in a long time.
- 29:25Speaker 1: It looks like an NFL team out there, guys who
- 29:27Speaker 1: can play in the NFL. I'm not certain if they
- 29:29Speaker 1: win the SEC, make the playoff. I just know they're
- 29:32Speaker 1: better than they were in years past.
- 29:33Speaker 4: That's the great irony of Billy Napier is he could
- 29:36Speaker 4: recruit well. like he there is nfl talent right all
- 29:39Speaker 4: over that team everywhere for whatever reason just have he's
- 29:41Speaker 4: the guy to get them uh moving the right direction
- 29:45Speaker 4: actually winning games.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Stew who's the oc oh man uh ball Philo. Philo? No,
- 29:57Speaker 2: it's a memorable name.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Philo?
- 29:59Speaker 2: He wears Devizer, Buster, Faulkner.
- 30:02Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 30:02Speaker 2: I got Summerall right. You did get Summerall right. Very good.
- 30:07Speaker 2: You got a lot of names right just in, like,
- 30:08Speaker 2: square peg, round hole.
- 30:10Speaker 3: Yes. I mean, what do you want from me?
- 30:11Speaker 1: I don't care about the offensive coordinator.
- 30:14Speaker 2: Are you bringing your kid into the picture here? He's
- 30:16Speaker 2: banging on the door. He wants to come say hi
- 30:18Speaker 2: to the boys. What's going on? Claude Bob, say what's
- 30:21Speaker 2: up to the boys.
- 30:22Speaker 6: Yes.
- 30:24Speaker 3: That's who Rachel is babysitting. Awesome.
- 30:27Speaker 2: Who's the OC for Florida? That's your father. Oh, there
- 30:31Speaker 2: you go. Jesus, how could he not know? It's all
- 30:33Speaker 2: you talk about.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I mean, poor kid.
- 30:35Speaker 2: All right. Next up on the list.
- 30:39Speaker 4: Bear, you're Kane. Miami at Clemson. And you kind of
- 30:44Speaker 4: talked about this earlier, Stu.
- 30:47Speaker 2: Like, Alabama....
- 30:49Speaker 4: Is even if they're not the alabama the past it's
- 30:52Speaker 4: still beating alabama it's a big deal of course clemson
- 30:57Speaker 4: still has a little bit of that going on only
- 31:00Speaker 4: this is very much a 55 year old boxer who
- 31:04Speaker 4: hasn't held a belt in well over a decade i
- 31:07Speaker 4: mean this is shack on the celtics michael on the
- 31:10Speaker 4: wizards malone on the lakers i think one was malone
- 31:14Speaker 4: it doesn't matter like like It still matters for Miami
- 31:17Speaker 4: in terms of you can tell the average person.
- 31:20Speaker 2: Like, whoa, no way. But, like, Clemson's terrible. Miami's going
- 31:24Speaker 2: to destroy them there. They should. It reminds me a little.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Not convincing.
- 31:34Speaker 2: It's a road game. I mean, who knows what the
- 31:36Speaker 2: hell can happen? No, Bear, that's crap.
- 31:39Speaker 4: If y'all are supposed to be as good as you are,
- 31:41Speaker 4: Clemson sucks.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Clemson's offense is ass.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 31:48Speaker 6: I mean, they're a bad on offense with a young
- 31:50Speaker 6: freshman quarterback. That offensive line should get absolutely eaten alive
- 31:55Speaker 6: by Miami's front.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Unquestionably.
- 31:58Speaker 6: This is on the other side of the ball. They
- 32:00Speaker 6: allowed over 300 yards rushing against LSU. North Carolina ran
- 32:04Speaker 6: for like 215 against them. Like this should be like
- 32:08Speaker 6: a just feed Mark Fletcher type game. It reminds me
- 32:12Speaker 6: of the situation in 2013 when the ACC was an
- 32:17Speaker 6: ass league, but Florida state was really, really good.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 32:21Speaker 6: Like people were saying like, ah, we don't know Florida
- 32:24Speaker 6: state good. Are they, are they ACC good?
- 32:27Speaker 2: And they went to Clemson and kicked the whole Jameis,
- 32:31Speaker 2: are we going to do it in the locker room?
- 32:34Speaker 6: And they kicked the shit out of it. It was 51-14.
- 32:36Speaker 6: The place emptied out by halftime. Florida State went on
- 32:40Speaker 6: to win the national championship. And it has a little
- 32:43Speaker 6: bit of a feel, at least from my perspective this week,
- 32:46Speaker 6: where I think people are still questioning Miami. The schedule's
- 32:51Speaker 6: been garbage so far.
- 32:52Speaker 3: Well, it has been, Bear.
- 32:53Speaker 2: I mean, it has been.
- 32:54Speaker 6: They do have two road conference wins, if you want
- 32:57Speaker 6: to look at it that way. And Wake Forest win
- 33:00Speaker 6: does look a hell of a lot better now. being
- 33:02Speaker 6: that Wake went on the road and beat Louisville. But
- 33:04Speaker 6: what you said, people are still questioning whether Miami is
- 33:08Speaker 6: this good, even though they got to the title game
- 33:10Speaker 6: last year and they've dominated everybody. And I think it's
- 33:13Speaker 6: an opportunity for them to go out and win a
- 33:17Speaker 6: game where people are going to have the same reaction
- 33:19Speaker 6: that they did with the Noles in 2013. It's going
- 33:21Speaker 6: to be like, oh, shit, wow, they are that good. So, yeah,
- 33:25Speaker 6: I think Miami goes out. I think they win very,
- 33:27Speaker 6: very big on Saturday night.
- 33:29Speaker 1: I think what people are waiting to see, because they
- 33:31Speaker 1: want to see it happen consistently. This is a game
- 33:33Speaker 1: in years past that Miami may lose, right? Or it
- 33:35Speaker 1: might be close or Mario might make a bad decision
- 33:39Speaker 1: late in the game that would cost them the game.
- 33:41Speaker 1: It might be a game that they would lose, but
- 33:43Speaker 1: this is a different Miami.
- 33:44Speaker 3: I believe in it. And I was one of those
- 33:45Speaker 3: people who would say that about the hurricanes.
- 33:47Speaker 1: This is a game they would go on the road
- 33:48Speaker 1: and typically lose because it's still Clemson.
- 33:51Speaker 2: Yes. And it's still the best team they played this year.
- 33:53Speaker 3: Yes. but they're not Clemson anymore, okay?
- 33:55Speaker 1: And Miami should win this game and should win it
- 33:57Speaker 1: by a lot, and I think that they will because
- 33:59Speaker 1: I think it's different now.
- 34:00Speaker 2: That team is littered with NFL players.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I mean, at every single position, they're as talented as
- 34:07Speaker 1: any team in the country, and Clemson's simply just not
- 34:09Speaker 1: as good anymore. And so I think Miami's going to
- 34:12Speaker 1: beat them and beat them by a lot. And beating
- 34:14Speaker 1: Clemson is not as impressive as it used to be,
- 34:16Speaker 1: but it's still the best win for Miami if indeed
- 34:19Speaker 1: they get the win this weekend.
- 34:20Speaker 2: But it does.
- 34:21Speaker 4: Still have water cooler value. where the average person who
- 34:25Speaker 4: isn't a college football nerd like me or Bear hears,
- 34:29Speaker 4: oh my.
- 34:29Speaker 2: God, Miami beat Clemson by how much?
- 34:31Speaker 3: Yes, it's a brand.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Clemson, they win their own.
- 34:33Speaker 3: It's a brand, yes.
- 34:34Speaker 2: How about this?
- 34:35Speaker 4: I've never seen anything like this. I mentioned this on Twitter,
- 34:38Speaker 4: and I've been getting a bit of pushback here. Darian
- 34:40Speaker 4: Mintz's stat line right now, through four games, he's completing 89%
- 34:46Speaker 4: of his passes, guys.
- 34:48Speaker 2: He has, Stu, I don't care who you played.
- 34:51Speaker 4: He has 14 touchdowns to 12 incompletions.
- 34:54Speaker 2: Like, I've seen guys do that over a single game.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Regardless of competition, it should be impossible in a four-game
- 35:02Speaker 4: sample to have more touchdowns and incompletions, especially when you're
- 35:05Speaker 4: throwing the ball this much. And in Malachi, Tony, you
- 35:08Speaker 4: have the single most exciting player in college football. He's
- 35:11Speaker 4: first in the ACC in receptions per game, yards per.
- 35:13Speaker 2: Game, tons. He's incredible.
- 35:15Speaker 4: Yes.
- 35:16Speaker 3: You want me to say that's impressive, and it is.
- 35:18Speaker 1: But I would also tell you, do it against a
- 35:19Speaker 1: good team.
- 35:20Speaker 2: I mean, seriously, they have played absolutely no one. I mean,
- 35:23Speaker 2: I need to see him play.
- 35:25Speaker 4: You are the same Jagoffs in my Twitter replies right now. Guys,
- 35:30Speaker 4: that's not the point. It's not that he's going to
- 35:33Speaker 4: do that against the best teams.
- 35:34Speaker 2: The point is... That shouldn't be possible even against the
- 35:38Speaker 2: bad team. I understand that.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I'm just saying play at that level or somewhere close
- 35:44Speaker 1: to that level against the good teams, and he's yet
- 35:46Speaker 1: to play a good team. I'll be more impressed if
- 35:49Speaker 1: he does it on the road against Clemson, but I
- 35:50Speaker 1: haven't seen him do it against anyone.
- 35:52Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying. Do it in Death Valley. Well,
- 35:54Speaker 2: he's going to have the opportunity to. And you know what?
- 35:56Speaker 4: This is a slight step up for Miami, though Wake
- 36:00Speaker 4: Forest could be.
- 36:01Speaker 2: Better than Clemson. Potentially. I think Wake is better than Clemson. Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 3: Well, you know, you guys will love this.
- 36:07Speaker 1: After the fact, after I already picked him and put
- 36:09Speaker 1: money on him, Mikey told me to stop betting against
- 36:11Speaker 1: Wake Forest.
- 36:16Speaker 2: All right. Let's go to a quick break, guys.
- 36:20Speaker 4: We've got a couple more games, DJ, and we're going
- 36:22Speaker 4: to give you some potential upset picks for the weekend.
- 36:25Speaker 2: Here in the College Football Show with Sue Gotsen-Bear. All right,
- 36:47Speaker 2: one final game here, guys. We don't have to spend
- 36:48Speaker 2: a lot of time on, but there are maybe a
- 36:49Speaker 2: couple of interesting angles there. Washington at USC. What did
- 36:53Speaker 2: you know?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Another disappointment with the Lincoln-Riley area at SC. But if
- 36:58Speaker 4: there's a bigger disappointment in the Big Ten, it's got
- 37:02Speaker 4: to be Washington. Probably the biggest disappointment in the entire.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Country, arguably, right now.
- 37:05Speaker 6: Yeah, if you look at what they've lost in the
- 37:07Speaker 6: running back position, like they are down a bunch of
- 37:09Speaker 6: guys right now, and it shows offensively.
- 37:12Speaker 2: I mean, their offensive line was terrible.
- 37:14Speaker 6: Last week against Minnesota and Minnesota's defense was in the
- 37:17Speaker 6: backfield all game on DeMond Williams.
- 37:19Speaker 2: It's going to be interesting to see.
- 37:21Speaker 6: We were talking about before we came on about that
- 37:23Speaker 6: locker room and the DeMond Williams, he was looking to
- 37:26Speaker 6: leave last year. Now he's back. Could get, could get
- 37:29Speaker 6: a little ugly there. These are the types of teams though,
- 37:32Speaker 6: that Lincoln Riley and SC feast on. It's a really
- 37:35Speaker 6: good opportunity for them to get back on the, into
- 37:39Speaker 6: winning ways, get a win over a team that sounds
- 37:42Speaker 6: good still, even though they aren't as good. And that
- 37:45Speaker 6: might help the big 10 moving forward. Like, like Washington
- 37:49Speaker 6: still sounds like they're a good team and a good win,
- 37:52Speaker 6: even though they're really not. And they're kind of in
- 37:54Speaker 6: that middle-ish tier, but really they're closer to the bottom third.
- 37:58Speaker 6: So maybe them like being bad and being a win
- 38:01Speaker 6: that sounds better than it actually is in a weird way,
- 38:05Speaker 6: like might be good for like the, ucla's and nebraska's
- 38:11Speaker 6: all the middle level of the uh the big 10.
- 38:14Speaker 4: Yeah i i the the storyline that i just can't
- 38:16Speaker 4: escape here it should be usc because like that's like
- 38:19Speaker 4: the way bigger name and that's what we should be
- 38:22Speaker 4: talking about but but you referenced damon williams signing the
- 38:26Speaker 4: big deal to stay at washington trying to leave last
- 38:29Speaker 4: minute to go to lsu Them literally suing DeMond Williams
- 38:34Speaker 4: and his camp, the boosters turning on him, the coach
- 38:37Speaker 4: turning on him, the locker room turning on him. Then
- 38:40Speaker 4: very awkwardly, he kind of comes back. He's like, actually, guys,
- 38:43Speaker 4: let's just put that toothpaste back in the tube. And
- 38:46Speaker 4: everybody's obviously like, oh, we're cool.
- 38:47Speaker 2: We're cool. We're cool.
- 38:48Speaker 4: Well, nothing will expose the crack more in relationships than
- 38:53Speaker 4: losing football games. That has got to be the single
- 38:56Speaker 4: most toxic, miserable, backstabbing, shit-talking locker room in the entire
- 39:03Speaker 4: country right now. It's got to be an absolute disaster.
- 39:07Speaker 1: So I want to ask both of you a question
- 39:09Speaker 1: because I do think USC is the most interesting element
- 39:12Speaker 1: of the game, and usually they are when they're playing
- 39:15Speaker 1: a football game because they're one of those brands that
- 39:17Speaker 1: we talk about. But there are rumors now, there are talks,
- 39:21Speaker 1: people talking about Lincoln Riley and his job. So Taylor, myself, Mikey,
- 39:25Speaker 1: we were discussing this and I'm interested in your thoughts.
- 39:28Speaker 1: If the USC job became available, would it be a
- 39:30Speaker 1: coveted job? And if Lincoln Riley became available, would he
- 39:34Speaker 1: be a coveted coach?
- 39:37Speaker 2: The job? Absolutely.
- 39:39Speaker 6: You're, you're in LA and a California recruiting base in
- 39:43Speaker 6: the big 10. It's absolutely incredible.
- 39:46Speaker 2: A coveted marquee.
- 39:48Speaker 4: Okay, let me frame it a different way, Bear. If
- 39:52Speaker 4: they offered Bob Chesney the job, would he take it? Yes.
- 39:54Speaker 3: I said that. Yes.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Oh, he would? Yes.
- 39:58Speaker 6: Even though he seemingly got things rolling at UCLA right now?
- 40:01Speaker 6: I think you've got more resources at SC.
- 40:04Speaker 2: Oh, God, that would be brutal. That would be the
- 40:06Speaker 2: ultimate Big Brother move. UCLA finally gets a little bit
- 40:11Speaker 2: of hope.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Wayne Knight is like the best running back outside of
- 40:14Speaker 4: Jaden Barnett.
- 40:15Speaker 2: He just steps in and gets plucked by FC. Yes.
- 40:18Speaker 3: I mean, I do think we're headed there.
- 40:19Speaker 1: I think we're headed to a place where Lincoln Riley
- 40:21Speaker 1: finally is no longer the USC head coach.
- 40:23Speaker 3: It should happen years ago.
- 40:24Speaker 4: So the second part of the question is Lincoln Riley
- 40:27Speaker 4: still a good hire?
- 40:27Speaker 1: I think, um, yeah, I think, yeah, I think, well,
- 40:31Speaker 1: hold on. Let me define good hire. You're telling me
- 40:33Speaker 1: like top tier programs bear are going to be interested
- 40:35Speaker 1: in Lincoln Riley.
- 40:37Speaker 2: Cause I think it's going to be more like BC
- 40:38Speaker 2: and Rutgers. <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL> <HAL>.
- 40:43Speaker 6: I think if you look at some of the big
- 40:45Speaker 6: 12 schools, some of the, uh, some, some of the
- 40:47Speaker 6: sec schools that are kind of, uh, in like the,
- 40:51Speaker 6: the old big 12 Southwest conference, like, Demo as well.
- 40:55Speaker 2: Like, yeah, no, he would.
- 40:56Speaker 6: Be certainly be a very coveted hire just because it
- 41:00Speaker 6: was obvious all because it did.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Like he took Oklahoma home to play a bunch.
- 41:03Speaker 6: I got what Ford for consecutive quarterbacks or four quarterbacks
- 41:07Speaker 6: go number one overall.
- 41:08Speaker 2: It's not like the guy can't coach offense.
- 41:11Speaker 6: It just feels like a, like an odd fit in
- 41:16Speaker 6: all because it doesn't work at SC doesn't mean it's
- 41:18Speaker 6: not going to work.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I mean, it worked in Oklahoma. Jada, Jada, my avoidance
- 41:21Speaker 2: were to Jada.
- 41:22Speaker 4: My office has been great under like his development has
- 41:25Speaker 4: been fantastic.
- 41:26Speaker 2: How about this? Clemson.
- 41:30Speaker 4: Sure i'm saying get rid of that oh i could
- 41:32Speaker 4: see him hiring lincoln like that that could actually make
- 41:35Speaker 4: sense he would modernize the program you'd excite the fan
- 41:38Speaker 4: base a little bit he probably fits in the south
- 41:40Speaker 4: a bit better.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Than he did uh i could see it well look
- 41:44Speaker 2: at the.
- 41:44Speaker 6: Jobs that are going to come up we think maryland's
- 41:46Speaker 6: going to come open we think south carolina is going
- 41:49Speaker 6: to come open yeah who knows if clemson comes open
- 41:52Speaker 6: florida state may come open like they're they're going to
- 41:56Speaker 6: be some very You don't think Florida State would kill
- 42:00Speaker 6: for Lincoln O'Reilly right now instead of Mike Norvell?
- 42:02Speaker 2: That's what I'm asking you.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I have no idea. I would absolutely. That's my point,
- 42:07Speaker 3: you know.
- 42:07Speaker 6: They'd take Quad Bob right now over Mike Norvell.
- 42:12Speaker 4: Hey, Quad Bob's a dumbass. He can't even count to ten.
- 42:18Speaker 4: He doesn't know his ABCs. That would be a terrible,
- 42:21Speaker 4: terrible choice.
- 42:23Speaker 3: All right.
- 42:24Speaker 1: I'm sorry I brought it to coaching in the hot seat,
- 42:26Speaker 1: but that's, you know, when I'm there, I'm in heaven.
- 42:29Speaker 4: I mean, that's what it's about, but that is what
- 42:31Speaker 4: Lincoln is on a thousand percent. I mean, bear said
- 42:34Speaker 4: it last week, if not now, when in that Oregon game,
- 42:37Speaker 4: then Oregon loses their starting quarterback and they still couldn't
- 42:40Speaker 4: get it done. Stu speaking of school of broadcasting. Did
- 42:43Speaker 4: you see the USC play by play guy?
- 42:45Speaker 3: I did not know what happened.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Oh my God. Oh, I wish we had this clip.
- 42:49Speaker 2: I should have put this in there. Absolute legend. Mikey,
- 42:52Speaker 2: have you seen this? He, so did you saw the
- 42:55Speaker 2: Dante Moore hit? He slides.
- 42:57Speaker 3: Oh, of course.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Yes. Take it off. Very cheap shot, right?
- 42:59Speaker 3: Yes.
- 43:00Speaker 4: The USC play-by-play guy says Dante Moore dove forward. And
- 43:06Speaker 4: then the spotters go, it's like, well, no, his feet,
- 43:08Speaker 4: his feet are, you know, his feet are in front
- 43:10Speaker 4: of him.
- 43:11Speaker 2: He's like, yeah, he got spun around by the hit. Yeah.
- 43:14Speaker 4: He's like, Dante Moore, he kind of slid with his
- 43:17Speaker 4: knees first. And his color guy's looking at the camera like, mm.
- 43:22Speaker 2: But I appreciate that.
- 43:24Speaker 3: Okay.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I want my local radio to be a Homer, to
- 43:28Speaker 4: be a bigger Homer than me.
- 43:29Speaker 2: I wanted to have the Trojan and gold, the gold
- 43:33Speaker 2: glasses on shout out to the announcer. I loved him.
- 43:35Speaker 3: Also, has he been suspended?
- 43:36Speaker 2: I mean, just, I don't think I know.
- 43:39Speaker 3: I don't think so, but I get the analyst on
- 43:41Speaker 3: the show.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I just want him to put us in the booth
- 43:43Speaker 2: when he's making that call. Give me old school. Larry
- 43:47Speaker 2: months in there. Yeah. Say, and we, we, and us.
- 43:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 43:51Speaker 1: One final question here on Lincoln Riley. This is I
- 43:54Speaker 1: just want to see where I could push it. Is
- 43:56Speaker 1: the job attractive enough for like a Dan Lanning to
- 43:59Speaker 1: leave Oregon.
- 44:00Speaker 2: To go to USC? No.
- 44:02Speaker 3: OK, so where can I push that bear?
- 44:04Speaker 1: Like, where can I say the job is still attractive
- 44:07Speaker 1: enough that X would.
- 44:09Speaker 2: Leave Y College to go to USC?
- 44:13Speaker 3: Like would Mario leave?
- 44:14Speaker 2: No, no.
- 44:15Speaker 4: OK.
- 44:16Speaker 3: So where can we push that?
- 44:17Speaker 2: Mario's going to die as Miami head coach.
- 44:19Speaker 3: Okay, so how far can we push it?
- 44:23Speaker 2: I'm trying to think about the blue bloods.
- 44:25Speaker 3: I mean... It's tough, yes.
- 44:32Speaker 2: James Franklin?
- 44:35Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's like Virginia Tech, right? Because like Will Stein, Kentucky,
- 44:38Speaker 4: absolutely Kentucky.
- 44:39Speaker 2: You'd leave Kentucky. Franklin would have left Penn State for
- 44:42Speaker 2: SC at heartbeat.
- 44:43Speaker 3: I love watching you guys work this out, by the way.
- 44:45Speaker 2: It's fantastic. Would you leave Penn State for SC, actually?
- 44:50Speaker 2: Matt Campbell. I'm not even talking Campbell specifically. I'm trying
- 44:54Speaker 2: to think about job to job.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Would you leave X school for USC?
- 44:59Speaker 2: Yes. You would leave Penn State? Yes. That might be
- 45:03Speaker 2: a pretty big one, then.
- 45:05Speaker 6: More of a lifestyle thing than anything else. If you've
- 45:09Speaker 6: been to State College and you've been to L.A., they're
- 45:11Speaker 6: not exactly similar. L.A.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Sucks. But then again, if you're a college head coach,
- 45:16Speaker 2: you have like $ 10 million. It's probably awesome.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Yes.
- 45:19Speaker 3: State College is the saddest place in America.
- 45:21Speaker 2: It's one of the most difficult places to get to,
- 45:24Speaker 2: that's for sure.
- 45:24Speaker 4: It must be hard to breathe up there, guys, in
- 45:27Speaker 4: your golden thrones, just looking down at your big metropolitan
- 45:33Speaker 4: South Beach Miami.
- 45:33Speaker 6: State College is great. Penn State's the first school that
- 45:37Speaker 6: got me in love with college football.
- 45:39Speaker 4: All right.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Big Joe Pond guy.
- 45:40Speaker 3: From the Northeast, yes.
- 45:41Speaker 2: You had no one else to root for, right? Would
- 45:45Speaker 2: you leave Notre Dame for SC?
- 45:49Speaker 1: See, I'm just telling you, USC is one of the
- 45:51Speaker 1: premier jobs. I'm just wondering if.
- 45:53Speaker 2: It still is, you know? The South Bend is no
- 45:56Speaker 2: spring chicken.
- 45:59Speaker 6: I'd leave Notre Dame for a C. I think Barry
- 46:04Speaker 6: just loves L.A. He just wants a little serpenter. How
- 46:09Speaker 6: about Stu Gantz coming in with a great question here?
- 46:11Speaker 2: Yes. He's so.
- 46:14Speaker 6: wound up and so interested in the lincoln room we
- 46:16Speaker 6: have that you know i'm gonna you know i'm gonna
- 46:18Speaker 6: ask ask the guys have been doing that this question
- 46:20Speaker 6: this weekend.
- 46:22Speaker 5: This was my question that he took from me and
- 46:24Speaker 5: brought to you just so we're.
- 46:26Speaker 3: All 100 yes no no question yes that's.
- 46:28Speaker 1: Great so i didn't have to do any work and
- 46:29Speaker 1: just watch you guys talk it out.
- 46:33Speaker 6: Oh that's a that's why stew's first ballot will you
- 46:37Speaker 6: leave alabama to go to usc now we're talking bear.
- 46:40Speaker 3: That's what i'm talking.
- 46:41Speaker 2: About probably i think you would Yeah, I think. Would
- 46:45Speaker 2: Lane leave? Yeah, I mean, never say never, Lane. Have
- 46:48Speaker 2: Hayden there anymore?
- 46:49Speaker 4: I know Lane's going to leave.
- 46:52Speaker 3: Mississippi's head coach would leave, right? Todd Golden, he'd leave.
- 46:55Speaker 2: Wait, what? Mississippi State's head coach, Todd Golden?
- 46:59Speaker 3: What's his name?
- 46:59Speaker 2: I don't know what his name is.
- 47:01Speaker 3: But he would leave Mississippi to go to USC, would
- 47:03Speaker 3: he not?
- 47:03Speaker 2: Yeah, Jeff Levy. Jeff Levy would definitely leave.
- 47:05Speaker 3: To go to USC. Sounds right. Thank you.
- 47:08Speaker 8: Golden is the Florida basketball coach.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Thank you, Taylor. Close. I think he's a Bay Area guy.
- 47:22Speaker 2: Isn't Golden a Bay Area guy? Would Todd Golden leave
- 47:26Speaker 2: to be USC's head football coach? I kind of love
- 47:28Speaker 2: that question.
- 47:29Speaker 4: Would he leave Florida basketball to go coach USC football?
- 47:33Speaker 2: Would he? All right. Oh, man.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Okay.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Last question on the list here, boys.
- 47:44Speaker 4: We have Bayer put together a grouping of teams here,
- 47:47Speaker 4: and these are ranked teams going on the road against
- 47:51Speaker 4: an unranked team. Real quick before I list them, Bayer,
- 47:55Speaker 4: what is the angle from a gambling perspective on this
- 47:58Speaker 4: kind of game archetype?
- 48:00Speaker 6: Typically it's a spot where you like to play underdogs
- 48:03Speaker 6: on money lines because road, road games are hard. Certainly
- 48:06Speaker 6: road conference games are even harder. So it's an opportunity to,
- 48:11Speaker 6: to get a home underdog at a nice price. And
- 48:13Speaker 6: especially at this point in the year, maybe you see
- 48:16Speaker 6: some fraudulently ranked teams. It shouldn't be ranked as high
- 48:19Speaker 6: as they are. And they, and they're in an upset spot, but,
- 48:22Speaker 6: but this week is a, It's hard for me to, like,
- 48:28Speaker 6: TCU is bad with that quarterback and the issues.
- 48:32Speaker 2: You talk about toxic locker rooms. Like, that's bad, bad.
- 48:37Speaker 6: How the hell did TCU play for the national championship.
- 48:40Speaker 2: Four years ago?
- 48:41Speaker 6: Like, it is amazing to think that they were in
- 48:44Speaker 6: that position and now where they are. That's another job
- 48:47Speaker 6: that could open up. this year, but BYU at TCU
- 48:51Speaker 6: is kind of interesting. BYU on the road, even though
- 48:54Speaker 6: I think BYU is a lot better. I do think
- 48:56Speaker 6: South Carolina is going to be Kentucky this week.
- 48:59Speaker 4: Okay.
- 48:59Speaker 2: So I was going to say we have, we have
- 49:01Speaker 2: their favorite. Yeah. We have Notre Dame, Notre Dame at
- 49:03Speaker 2: USC or UNC Notre Dame. Say right. 21 and a half.
- 49:07Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 49:08Speaker 2: I mean, I think I should take care of it.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Miami favorite at Clemson again, 17 and a half.
- 49:13Speaker 3: Love it.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Indiana, 23 and a half at Rutgers. I don't know
- 49:16Speaker 2: if I'd take Indiana to cover. I'm not sure Indiana's good.
- 49:20Speaker 2: They were there to be had last week.
- 49:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 49:23Speaker 2: How do we define.
- 49:24Speaker 3: Good, though?
- 49:25Speaker 2: Yes.
- 49:25Speaker 3: Rachel, my daughter, who's in the Zoom. Thank you.
- 49:27Speaker 4: Yes. shadow northwestern opening their new stadium friday guys.
- 49:31Speaker 2: And i love.
- 49:33Speaker 4: It 800 million dollars in the stadium and still gave
- 49:35Speaker 4: the visitor shitty locker rooms that's good that's how college
- 49:39Speaker 4: football is supposed to.
- 49:40Speaker 1: Be so so one second both you guys are convinced
- 49:42Speaker 1: that notre dame will steamroll north carolina yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 3: I don't think steamroll okay wow closer huh.
- 49:47Speaker 2: The only thing i'm worried about is notre dame hasn't
- 49:49Speaker 2: run the ball great right.
- 49:50Speaker 4: Then that notre dame defense is why they're gonna be
- 49:53Speaker 4: good like cj carr will round in a form probably
- 49:56Speaker 4: be really good but The Notre Dame defense is like
- 50:01Speaker 4: NFL guys, multiple at every single level of the defense.
- 50:05Speaker 1: Bear, if North Carolina is undefeated, is college game day
- 50:09Speaker 1: going to North Carolina this weekend?
- 50:10Speaker 2: Well, it's going to be. Oh, yeah, absolutely. Yes. I
- 50:14Speaker 2: was going to say, well, they can't be undefeated because
- 50:16Speaker 2: they already lost the game. But, oh, God, yeah.
- 50:18Speaker 4: If.
- 50:18Speaker 2: Oh, God. Heartbeat.
- 50:21Speaker 4: Is there going to be a bigger looks disparity between
- 50:25Speaker 4: the two head coaches than what you're going to have
- 50:27Speaker 4: in Marcus Freeman versus Bill Buster Chase?
- 50:30Speaker 2: Buttoned up and then hoodie, frumpy man boobs, just everything.
- 50:34Speaker 1: He just gave me and Mikey a reason to watch
- 50:37Speaker 1: the game.
- 50:38Speaker 2: I'm not going to lie. I'm still thinking about Bill's boobs. God,
- 50:44Speaker 2: things just look succulent. All right, sorry. Beautiful man. Miami
- 50:50Speaker 2: at Clemson. Again, like you said, I don't think there's
- 50:52Speaker 2: much there. Indiana Rutgers. I would take Rutgers to cover.
- 50:55Speaker 2: There's no way Greg Chiano's beating Indiana. No.
- 50:58Speaker 6: The big number, they got Nebraska on the road next week,
- 51:02Speaker 6: so maybe there's a little bit of a just kind
- 51:04Speaker 6: of sleepwalk. They got a bunch of injuries still. Now
- 51:07Speaker 6: they're down another running back, so maybe it's closer.
- 51:12Speaker 4: Texas Tech and Colorado. Colorado, after a week one, like,
- 51:16Speaker 4: Good job guys. They're kicking off people off the team.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Juju Lewis isn't the starting quarterback anymore. It's a disaster
- 51:24Speaker 4: for the buffs. Texas tech has not looked good, but
- 51:28Speaker 4: they should, I mean, they should, they should.
- 51:30Speaker 2: Take care of business.
- 51:31Speaker 3: They should.
- 51:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 51:32Speaker 6: And actually Colorado has taken some money. I saw this
- 51:35Speaker 6: lines out to like 11 and a half and a
- 51:37Speaker 6: bunch of spots. Like who the hell is betting on Colorado?
- 51:41Speaker 6: Like they, they can't score.
- 51:43Speaker 2: They're terrible. You mentioned BYU at TCU. That's probably the
- 51:47Speaker 2: upset to choose here.
- 51:48Speaker 4: Yeah. Because as you said, Kentucky is ranked there at
- 51:50Speaker 4: South Carolina, but Kentucky, three and a half point dogs.
- 51:52Speaker 2: Yeah, they are.
- 51:54Speaker 6: And it might be a situation, Shane, with suspending Dylan Stewart,
- 51:58Speaker 6: maybe the locker room, maybe he's got them right for
- 52:01Speaker 6: one week, kind of circle the wagons type game, and they...
- 52:07Speaker 6: and they win the toss-up game there as a favorite.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Bear, allow me to chime in here because I just
- 52:11Speaker 1: want to give the audience what I know they want,
- 52:13Speaker 1: and I want to give me.
- 52:14Speaker 3: And Mikey A what we want.
- 52:15Speaker 1: I just want your– I want very clearly, okay, with
- 52:18Speaker 1: no interruption, and I apologize to you, T-Bob, and I
- 52:21Speaker 1: love you, but we all.
- 52:22Speaker 3: Need this, okay?
- 52:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Mikey has his pen in hand. He has a piece
- 52:25Speaker 1: of paper. He is ready to write them down. I
- 52:27Speaker 1: just want the medal stand of college football picks for
- 52:30Speaker 1: the weekend here, okay?
- 52:31Speaker 3: Bronze, silver, gold. What is Bear going with?
- 52:34Speaker 6: I have– Two bets locked in. So we're only going
- 52:41Speaker 6: to go two. Well, actually, I'll give you three because
- 52:42Speaker 6: I'll give you a win total.
- 52:43Speaker 1: I don't want you to force it, Bear. I do
- 52:46Speaker 1: not want you to force it. I want you to
- 52:47Speaker 1: just give us whatever you like. If it's two, it's two.
- 52:50Speaker 6: I would bet TCU's season win total under right now
- 52:55Speaker 6: because I don't know how they're getting to six wins.
- 52:57Speaker 6: You can put that on the bronze medal stand. On
- 53:00Speaker 6: the silver position on the podium, I would take Temple
- 53:05Speaker 6: plus the points. against South Florida. South Florida is like
- 53:10Speaker 6: the most fraudulent 4-0 team in the country. They beat
- 53:14Speaker 6: FIU 19-9, a.
- 53:16Speaker 2: Miracle win at Army.
- 53:18Speaker 6: They beat Delaware State, FCS, MEAC team, and then trailed
- 53:23Speaker 6: for most of the game against a terrible, well, Bowling
- 53:26Speaker 6: Green might be like the worst team in the country,
- 53:28Speaker 6: and they trailed for a good part of that game.
- 53:29Speaker 6: So they're 4-0. Casey Keeler is a really good coach.
- 53:34Speaker 6: At Temple, they gave a game away. This feels like
- 53:38Speaker 6: a good spot for Temple. And then gold medal play,
- 53:41Speaker 6: lay the 14 with Ohio State.
- 53:43Speaker 3: Say it again. Say it one more time.
- 53:45Speaker 2: Gold medal play? Yeah. Lay the 14 with Ohio State.
- 53:49Speaker 4: Okay.
- 53:50Speaker 2: It was breathtaking watching you do that.
- 53:53Speaker 4: I mean, I've been telling all my friends all week, guys,
- 53:57Speaker 4: you've got to bet Temple this weekend.
- 54:00Speaker 2: South Florida is the worst Florida team in the country.
- 54:04Speaker 2: All right, guys, we love you. We'll see you next
- 54:05Speaker 2: time on the College Football Show. It's You Got Some Beer.
