- October 21 Break Up the Unplowed Ground Topic: Spiritual Growth. Scripture: Hosea 10:12 12 Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap according to kindness. Break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek Yahweh, until he comes and rains righteousness on you. Context Hosea uses farming language to call Israel away from entrenched unfaithfulness. Fallow ground is soil left unworked; the image becomes a call to seek Yahweh and make room for a different harvest. Let It Shape Your Life Hard ground does not become fruitful because someone lectures the seed. It has to be opened. Hosea’s image is useful because spiritual growth often requires disruption before it produces beauty. A habit has to be questioned. A resentment has to be named. A routine has to change. A conversation has to happen. An apology has to be made. Deep change usually asks something of us. The good news is that God is not asking you to manufacture the rain. Your part is to seek Him and make room for righteousness and kindness. His grace supplies what you cannot create by effort alone. Ask where the soil has become hard. Maybe you stopped listening, stopped praying honestly, or stopped expecting change. Breaking ground may feel messy, but untouched ground never becomes a harvest by accident. Think About It What hardened habit, attitude, or routine needs to be disturbed if you are serious about growing in a different direction?
