- 0:01Here's your host, Alex Garrett. I had a lot of stuff to talk
- 0:22to you about today on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network. But guess what that
- 0:26all got pushed aside when I realized when I saw this clip from what's called
- 0:33the Unwaxed podcast by the Stallone Daughters, Yes, the daughters of Sylvester Stallone.
- 0:42Oh, what I've been talking about today got pushed aside when I realized
- 0:46Rocky, Rocky Balboa, Rocky Balboa, Yes that Rocky is an advocate for
- 1:00those with aostemy. Take a listen to this on the freshly released UH podcast
- 1:08of Unwaxed, as heard right now on the Alex Scatt podcast Network. All
- 1:18beat up. I actually glued my nose. I colostomy bags. Glue is
- 1:26no stop, We'll stop. That's okay. Well, some people have trouble
- 1:34pooping because they have intestinal problems and they put a bag here. I didn't
- 1:42know what that was called very powerful glove. Yeah, So I glued my
- 1:47nose because it's crooked anyways and broken. Somebody like this and I look so
- 1:51I auditioned like this, and you're wondering why they were like it looked like
- 1:57such a monster. Color yeah, take the blue off and perhaps maybe be
- 2:02a little nice. You have a dog you have, but no, I
- 2:07was like, I look terrifying. Oh gosh, I think I yet.
- 2:15So there you go. Rocky about Boa. I don't know if he knows
- 2:22this or not, just became an advocate for ostem awareness. And I've had
- 2:28an ostemy since I was about four or five hours old. It was a
- 2:32life saving procedure, A life saving procedure for myself and I'm sure many others.
- 2:40Many have adapted to the colostomy. That is true, and I guess
- 2:46I was fortunate to have it from birth. But and it's been a to
- 2:52this day, a maintenance job to keep up with my osteme awareness. But
- 2:59how about that, Rocky about Boa Gonna fly? Now an advocate for those
- 3:06with an ostemy, and I would love to extend an invitation to mister Slice
- 3:12Stalone, Sylvester Stallone to this podcast to discuss that and maybe just maybe we
- 3:23start a campaign and awareness campaign unlike any other on osteme awareness. Can you
- 3:31imagine a high profile celebrity utilizing ostemy glue? And it is powerful blue to
- 3:45make up the face we've seen in Rocky as Rocky about boa is that not
- 3:53exciting. I think it's freaking amazing. I think it's a huge, huge
- 4:02kudos. And the girls are kind of laughing about it, But I liked
- 4:09this. Sallone went into detail and talked about, hey, guess what,
- 4:13there are people with real issues that can't you go to the bathroom do number
- 4:17two normally, so let's not laugh at them. Let me educate you for
- 4:23a minute. And I love that he took the time to explain it.
- 4:28And by the way, on my Instagram right now, alex g nyc one,
- 4:32on my Instagram right now, there's a picture standing under Rocky from many
- 4:40many years ago in Philadelphia. And I'll tell you what, I've never been
- 4:45so proud to stand under that Rocky statue in Philly knowing that what was untold
- 4:55for many years and many decades has just become a form of awareness. And
- 5:04to be honest, the girl's laughing was sort of a I don't want to
- 5:11say, a trigger, but it definitely hit a nerve because I did find
- 5:17a woman that would understand my ostome, that actually pushes me to take care
- 5:23of it. She is my fiance now, Gabriella Pisani, but all my
- 5:30life when I became, you know, when my hormones were growing, when
- 5:34I started to realize, oh, the opposite sex. How am I gonna,
- 5:44you know, have intimacy with this astem? And Gabby understands it,
- 5:59but the girls laughing about it kind of is how I think someone with anostomy
- 6:08is handled. And so I applaud so Ivester Stallone, Rocky Bouboa, Rambo
- 6:17for taking that moment to explain why we use ostomes. Very very thankful he
- 6:30took a moment. And again, mister Stallone, if I tag you in
- 6:35this and you happen to listen to it, please come by the Alex Garrett
- 6:42podcast network. I would even do a vlog with you about that story alone
- 6:48and maybe help you understand, you know, maybe congratulate you on something you
- 6:55didn't know, which is you lit a fire under someone with an astemy and
- 7:01a podcast to as a matter of fact, go out and continue bringing awareness.
- 7:10I've had my buddy Danny voice about osteme awareness. I need to get
- 7:15more people on about the adaptation to the ostome because as of right now as
- 7:25I look it up, as of right now, and there is an osteme
- 7:33Awareness Day held on a sobering day, October seventh this year. But but
- 7:42ostem dot org. I'm gonna drop the link ostme dot org. It's all
- 7:57connected. And I'm so amazed actually that Sylvester Stallone wanted to tell this story.
- 8:16It's awesome that he did. But now we got to do the work
- 8:22and explain it more. I wonder if he has friends with astomes. That's
- 8:30a great question to ask him. Maybe I'll be able to after I extend
- 8:33this invite to Rocky Abuboa on this alone. And I'm looking for statistics right
- 8:50now because there's about between seven hundred and fifty thousand to one million people with
- 9:05ostemese. Approximately one hundred and fifty thousand osteme is created each year. Those
- 9:18can be invasive, those can be from birth. But let's do something with
- 9:31this. We just had a major profile celebrity, Sylvester Stallone shout out the
- 9:43ostome community given awareness to something that I myself a dealt with for thirty two
- 9:50years. That's huge news and that is awesome that he took the time to
- 9:58explain to his daughters who were ensure. But we will educate more. I
- 10:09think this audio needs to be captured and send to those like osme dot org
- 10:15and maybe as a collaboration we can all be connected and discussed not only why
- 10:24he chose the ostome glue as strong as as is, but how he gained
- 10:31the knowledge of it and if he has friends that use it. Rocky Botbo
- 10:37was a champion and now he's a champion of the colostomy ostem movement and awareness.
- 10:46And if that's not freaking cool, I don't know what it is,
- 10:50man, because we need more voices to shout out the ostome community and the
- 11:01band together. But let me play it for you one more time. Looks
- 11:07like all beat up. I actually glued my nose colossomy bags glue. Stop
- 11:20stop, we know that that's okay. Well, some people have trouble pooping
- 11:24because they have intestinal problems and they put a bag here. I didn't know
- 11:31what that was. Very power, I mean, now you know, girls,
- 11:39now you know. As to me, awareness never been so prouder to
- 11:50stand under that statue of Rocky BA in Philadelphia and right in this moment,
- 12:01and that goes a long way. And that understanding of the OSome, that
- 12:07smashing of the stigma of the osteme, might have just broke a little more
- 12:13ground with Rocky so Fesor Stallone, Balboa, have a great rest of your
- 12:24day. I got a couple things I want to cover, but this was
- 12:28major. This Trump's a lot of other stuff going on. We are proud,
- 12:35we we are watching for you the Israel Hamas war. And I'm disgusted
- 12:46about the protests that blocked the Manhattan Bridge for four hours. I'll just say
- 12:50that. But this osteme comment, this condition, it is something that only
- 13:01hits home, but I know impacts so many other families. And thank you
- 13:07so Vester Stallone for bringing awareness to what a colostomy bag is. Because if
- 13:15it doesn't make sense for me, maybe Rocky Balboa can help you make it
- 13:24make sense here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network. What else am I gonna
- 13:28end the show with but a little more of Bill CONTI. I'm gonna fly
- 13:35now because I think we can fly into osteme awareness even we can stort even
- 13:46higher now with these campaigns thanks to Rocky Balboa. Have a great day and
- 13:56we'll talk to you soon.
