- 0:00Speaker 1: I texted Andrews this morning with a couple of show
- 0:02Speaker 1: notes at like six forty five in the morning. I
- 0:04Speaker 1: thought to myself, he's a new pops. Yeah, we got
- 0:06Speaker 1: a four month Well he's up. Was I right or
- 0:09Speaker 1: wrong about that?
- 0:10Speaker 2: I wasn't up at six forty five.
- 0:11Speaker 3: I was about seven seven fifteen by the time I
- 0:13Speaker 3: got up, But then I wasn't able to respond right
- 0:15Speaker 3: away because I'm dealing with him.
- 0:16Speaker 1: So it's pretty good. Yeah, seven to fifteen is pretty
- 0:19Speaker 1: good for a four month old.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Not too bad, not too bad. It wakes up a
- 0:22Speaker 3: few times in between, but you know.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Those of your new parents, those who have been parents,
- 0:27Speaker 1: know exactly where and is right now. It's a grind,
- 0:31Speaker 1: it's so worth it, so rewarding.
- 0:33Speaker 2: It's fun. We're having a good time with it so far.
- 0:35Speaker 1: That's awesome. Yeah, that is That is really cool. On
- 0:38Speaker 1: the show today, we're gonna talk about the two step forward,
- 0:40Speaker 1: one ugly step back Mariners Man two games. They've win
- 0:45Speaker 1: two games in a row and then eleven to one
- 0:47Speaker 1: loss last night. Previously brilliant starter Brian Wu now inconsistent
- 0:51Speaker 1: and he's mad at himself. You'll hear from Brian Wo
- 0:53Speaker 1: at about ten twenty five. He was pretty hard on
- 0:57Speaker 1: himself last night after that start. Although we could talk
- 0:59Speaker 1: about Randy rose Arena not catching the fly ball that
- 1:03Speaker 1: started that whole inning, and we could also talk about
- 1:04Speaker 1: Randy rose Arena maybe not even fully healthy being back.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Yeah, some bad defense from Luke Rayley.
- 1:10Speaker 1: May not be fully healthy either Ian.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Crawford who may not be fully healthy either.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Man. Well, you know when they shut down Cayl Raley
- 1:19Speaker 1: for thirty three days, that was a pretty effective use
- 1:21Speaker 1: of the injured list, I would.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Say, Yeah, usually when someone is injured, you would use
- 1:26Speaker 3: the weight for it injured list.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah, but Randy rose Arena was on the ten day
- 1:32Speaker 1: injured list. I think he was on for ten days
- 1:34Speaker 1: and one hour, right, And perhaps that was playing into
- 1:37Speaker 1: that flyball that all of the Pacific Northwest Baseball them
- 1:41Speaker 1: thought he should have caught down there with a file
- 1:43Speaker 1: one yesterday.
- 1:43Speaker 3: I don't think it was just the Pacific Northwest maybe everybody. Yeah,
- 1:46Speaker 3: I ever watched base Everyone in Pittsburgh goes in the ballpark.
- 1:49Speaker 3: What's going on there?
- 1:50Speaker 1: The US national team is in unfamiliar territory tonight. I'm
- 1:53Speaker 1: fifty five years old and I don't ever remember a
- 1:56Speaker 1: World Cup game for the US that does not matter
- 1:58Speaker 1: because they've already clinched something that is unheard of. Pretty wild, huh,
- 2:02Speaker 1: that is pretty wild. That has never happened before. The
- 2:05Speaker 1: United States has never won the first two games of
- 2:07Speaker 1: a World Cup before. That's already happened. And because of that,
- 2:11Speaker 1: tonight's game against Turkey a as they now are.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, what is that?
- 2:15Speaker 1: I think everyone inside the country of Turkey calls a
- 2:17Speaker 1: Turkey in their own language, and so the FIFA and everybody.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Is It's similar to instead of Cape Verde, it's Cabo Verde.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Correct, Cabo Verde would be the Spanish I don't have
- 2:26Speaker 1: to tell you Argentinian spouse. Yeah, yeah, but yes, I
- 2:30Speaker 1: think that's where this is coming from Turkey to the
- 2:32Speaker 1: English speakers in Turkey A to the rest of US.
- 2:35Speaker 1: I guess FIFA and included So Turkey a Turkey playing
- 2:39Speaker 1: at seven o'clock tonight on Fox in Los Angeles or
- 2:43Speaker 1: Inglewood if you will, at SOFI Stadium, that game doesn't matter.
- 2:48Speaker 1: The United States has already advanced and it looks like
- 2:50Speaker 1: like a ninety nine percent chance it'll be Bosnia Herzgovina
- 2:53Speaker 1: against the US July one, knockout stage match in Santa Clara. Again,
- 2:57Speaker 1: the winner of that match is playing in Seattle. That's
- 3:00Speaker 1: already been determined July sixth, five pm, Lumenfield. And if
- 3:04Speaker 1: you thought US Australia and it was off the hook,
- 3:08Speaker 1: what do you call this?
- 3:09Speaker 2: It is.
- 3:11Speaker 3: Blow it out of the water. It'll be by far
- 3:13Speaker 3: the biggest sporting event in Seattle history.
- 3:15Speaker 1: It will, Yeah, And that's not hyperbole. That is a
- 3:19Speaker 1: fact on a global scale, on a national scale, on
- 3:22Speaker 1: an attention scale, on a noise it I hesitate to say,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it'll be the noisiest event ever in that stadium.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Different type of noise. Yeah, You're not like having one
- 3:33Speaker 3: singular moment where everyone's yelling at the same time like
- 3:36Speaker 3: in football games. But like just in terms of the
- 3:39Speaker 3: energy in the crowd, I think you can probably make
- 3:42Speaker 3: that argument.
- 3:43Speaker 1: That will be a wild scene if the United States
- 3:46Speaker 1: wins that game. So tonight I'm going I have tickets
- 3:49Speaker 1: to go down to the Pier sixty two. If you've
- 3:51Speaker 1: tried to do that, I haven't yet. When you get
- 3:52Speaker 1: tickets doesn't mean you're in. You have to get in
- 3:55Speaker 1: line and then there's a capacity and if you aren't
- 3:58Speaker 1: in line in time. It doesn't matter if you have
- 4:01Speaker 1: tickets or not, you won't get in. Really, I don't
- 4:03Speaker 1: know why they don't just issue a number of tickets
- 4:05Speaker 1: and stop it, but in a recent I noticed in
- 4:09Speaker 1: this past week they are starting to do that. But
- 4:12Speaker 1: just because I have tickets doesn't mean I'm going to
- 4:14Speaker 1: get into this Pier sixty two just to stand around
- 4:16Speaker 1: and then buy stuff at the food trucks and whatnot,
- 4:18Speaker 1: which is great. It's a communal experience. But on the water.
- 4:22Speaker 1: So those of you that want to go down to
- 4:24Speaker 1: Pier sixty two, there's two different settings. There's a barge
- 4:28Speaker 1: that you can go down and pay for fifty two dollars.
- 4:31Speaker 1: It goes to the Ray Foundation, the Rain and the
- 4:33Speaker 1: Sounder's Charitable Foundation here in Seattle, so it's not like
- 4:36Speaker 1: you're just giving someone money and going back to somewhere.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Or you can do what some schmucks have done for
- 4:43Speaker 1: the US matches so far. The first two is buy
- 4:46Speaker 1: the whole damn barge. I don't know why they let
- 4:48Speaker 1: that be legal, but you can do that. Some private
- 4:52Speaker 1: guy just buys the whole barge for twenty of his friends,
- 4:54Speaker 1: and you have drinks and food and watch the game
- 4:57Speaker 1: on a barge that's right next to from as far
- 5:01Speaker 1: as Andrews and I are sitting apart, is how close
- 5:03Speaker 1: these two screens are. So instead of doing all that,
- 5:07Speaker 1: just get the tickets. Well, again, the tickets are capped
- 5:09Speaker 1: if you just want to go on the pier, which
- 5:11Speaker 1: is free, but you have to get in line to
- 5:13Speaker 1: do it. So that's the arrangement set. Also the mural
- 5:16Speaker 1: Amphitheater at Seattle Center another outdoor venue setting. You could
- 5:20Speaker 1: do that tonight. You can go into the Armory where
- 5:22Speaker 1: there's a DJ for a free watch party. You can
- 5:25Speaker 1: go to west Lake Center, the old mall that has
- 5:27Speaker 1: now got a four story high indoor screen showing World
- 5:32Speaker 1: Wow games. Have you seen that?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Yeah, it looks pretty cool and like the four levels
- 5:36Speaker 3: of people watching, yes, but not even just the big screens.
- 5:39Speaker 3: On each of those levels, there's little mini watch parties.
- 5:42Speaker 3: It's really cool.
- 5:43Speaker 1: And then there's Victory Hall if you want to go outside.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Now it's supposed to rain tomorrow during the day. It's
- 5:48Speaker 1: supposed to stop by the time Egypt and Iran play
- 5:50Speaker 1: Tomorrow night Friday night, the only night game of the
- 5:52Speaker 1: four group stage matches here in Seattle, which by the way,
- 5:55Speaker 1: is an elimination match. Pretty much the winner that will advance,
- 5:58Speaker 1: and I think the loser that either is in danger
- 6:00Speaker 1: of or will not advance. Although Egypt has a real
- 6:03Speaker 1: good chance of being third at least in its group. Yep,
- 6:05Speaker 1: Egypt around at eight pm tomorrow, my son and I
- 6:07Speaker 1: are going to be down for that. I'll be down
- 6:09Speaker 1: there covering it for the News Tribune. So that's what's
- 6:12Speaker 1: on in the World Cup here in Seattle. What else
- 6:15Speaker 1: we're going to talk about today? There is a bizarre
- 6:19Speaker 1: concerning arrest in Tampa involving one of the starting quarterbacks
- 6:23Speaker 1: for the Detroit Lions. It's just it's bizarre, but he's
- 6:26Speaker 1: facing felony charges that could put him life in prison.
- 6:30Speaker 1: He's in the thirty year of his Zookie contract. Terry
- 6:32Speaker 1: On I almost said Terry On Austin because I've used
- 6:36Speaker 1: to cover a turn on. Terry On Arnold is a
- 6:38Speaker 1: cornerback for the Detroit Lions. We're going to talk about
- 6:41Speaker 1: his story and what he's up against. It's just bizarre.
- 6:45Speaker 1: And a couple of friends with Larry Laye's a good
- 6:48Speaker 1: friend of mine. I used to be the AP colleague.
- 6:50Speaker 1: He's the Detroit's AP Guy've been trying to get a
- 6:52Speaker 1: hold of him all day, but he's a little busy
- 6:54Speaker 1: right now. Between that story and the fact that Drake Drake,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I said, Drake mate, Dustly May, the coach of Michigan's
- 7:01Speaker 1: basketball National Championship basketball team, just up and left dann
- 7:03Speaker 1: Arbor to go to the Dallas Mavericks this week, Larry
- 7:06Speaker 1: Lage and the people in Detroit had been a little busy.
- 7:10Speaker 4: Am.
- 7:10Speaker 1: I'll have another keyword in our twenty five hundred dollars
- 7:12Speaker 1: daily cast giveaway, the two hundred and fifty k USA Giveaway,
- 7:16Speaker 1: a national contest eleven thirty. We'll readback your textan at
- 7:19Speaker 1: the Komodage, Texa on Fortnite four or five one. In
- 7:21Speaker 1: the first question I have on that today, how concerned
- 7:24Speaker 1: are you with Brian Wu. We thought he was a
- 7:26Speaker 1: cy young candidate or of Surefire All Star in the
- 7:29Speaker 1: first month or two of the season, and now he
- 7:31Speaker 1: got lit up last night. He's been inconsistent. One great
- 7:35Speaker 1: start and then last night not great. We're going to
- 7:38Speaker 1: go into detail about Brian Wu from hearing from Brian
- 7:41Speaker 1: Wu himself, but yesterday I just wanted to describe the
- 7:46Speaker 1: scene again yesterday. If you think the US Australia is
- 7:49Speaker 1: the only time that the World Cup has been on
- 7:51Speaker 1: fire here in Seattle, that's not true. I walked in
- 7:54Speaker 1: yesterday with Kataris and with Bosnians, and that and alone
- 7:58Speaker 1: is what the World Cup is so specially four the
- 8:01Speaker 1: Qataris are wearing their custom clothes and white, and the
- 8:07Speaker 1: Bosnians outnumbered, and probably eighty percent of that stadium yesterday
- 8:12Speaker 1: was bazy okay, I would say that's just a rough estimate.
- 8:16Speaker 1: And it was packed, and it was announced to sellout
- 8:18Speaker 1: sixty six nine twenty five. Two of the first three
- 8:21Speaker 1: matches have been set outs. In the first one Egypt
- 8:24Speaker 1: and Belgium was just one hundred and fifty short of
- 8:25Speaker 1: ad and the weather has been perfect on all those days.
- 8:30Speaker 1: It was a little warm yesterday, as the players and
- 8:32Speaker 1: people noticed. But yes, the scene is incredible because it
- 8:38Speaker 1: is the only World Cup venue that is downtown. Among
- 8:42Speaker 1: the fans, among the light rail, among mass transit, among
- 8:45Speaker 1: watch parties. Think about all the other places BC places,
- 8:49Speaker 1: the other example, which which Vancouver and.
- 8:52Speaker 2: Seattle, Toronto sort of as well.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Yes, it's down on the water, but It is detached
- 8:56Speaker 1: from the downtown core, but it is on Lake Ontario
- 8:59Speaker 1: and it is a nice setting, but not I don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: like your exhibition place, which is kind of set aside out.
- 9:05Speaker 3: It's I don't love their stadium, to be honest, it
- 9:07Speaker 3: seems like almost every other stadium has looked like, Man,
- 9:10Speaker 3: this looks like a World Cup venue.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I've driven by it in a cab on a way
- 9:13Speaker 1: to SkyDome, but I've never been in it.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Yeah, and I've heard that from you know, a lot
- 9:17Speaker 3: of our analysts are broadcast our sounders, broadcasters or former players.
- 9:21Speaker 3: They kind of say the same thing. It's like it's
- 9:23Speaker 3: kind of JV in a way, like compared to these
- 9:26Speaker 3: just Jerry's world and and loomen and like everything.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It's just it's not the same.
- 9:32Speaker 1: As grandiose as Jerry's World at and T Stadium in Arlington,
- 9:36Speaker 1: Texas is It is out in the middle of Detroit,
- 9:41Speaker 1: I mean Dallas Fort Worth, and right in the middle
- 9:43Speaker 1: of the Metroplex, right right along a freeway, right next
- 9:46Speaker 1: to a shopping mall. In fact, the media parking anders
- 9:49Speaker 1: to get to Cowboys games is in a Walmart parking
- 9:51Speaker 1: lot across the street. Love that and the the football
- 9:55Speaker 1: is the Cowboys Stadium is right next to the Rangers Stadium,
- 9:58Speaker 1: which is right next to a six Flag's amusement park.
- 10:02Speaker 1: Not exactly a downtown core. The east rest of her
- 10:06Speaker 1: New Jersey the meadowlands, and those of you who have
- 10:08Speaker 1: been in the meadowlands, no, those are swamps. There ever
- 10:11Speaker 1: used to be anything, right, You can see Manhattan from
- 10:15Speaker 1: the skyline from there. But no, it's not in New
- 10:18Speaker 1: York City. And when I said this again, I said
- 10:21Speaker 1: it a couple times on our show. When I walked
- 10:24Speaker 1: out of the stadium after US Australia a couple hours
- 10:26Speaker 1: after the match and we were done writing, I walked
- 10:28Speaker 1: out with a New York soccer writer and we walked
- 10:31Speaker 1: out onto Occidental Avenue, which was still pulsating with bars
- 10:36Speaker 1: and restaurants and people walking up. It looked like the
- 10:38Speaker 1: game had just ended and it was three hours after
- 10:40Speaker 1: the match. And he turned to me and said, this
- 10:43Speaker 1: is where the World Cup Finals should be, not the
- 10:46Speaker 1: New Jersey swamp lands. Put to fans and have an
- 10:49Speaker 1: experience here, and well, you know New York and all that.
- 10:56Speaker 1: So even as Teca as that temple, that's a legendary
- 11:00Speaker 1: state it is, but it's not in the downtown core
- 11:03Speaker 1: of Mexico City. It's actually out on the Outer Ring,
- 11:05Speaker 1: one of the Outer Ring highways of Mexico City. It
- 11:10Speaker 1: is a shrine and it is revered, but it at Guadalhara.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It's right up against the mountains, but it's not in
- 11:17Speaker 1: the downtown center. Corps Monterey Monterey as well, but Guadalhara
- 11:21Speaker 1: boat oh y y yeah, Monterey is same. So Foxboro.
- 11:27Speaker 1: We can talk on and on about how remote Foxborough is.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Phillies.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Phillies is on it's away from downtown, detached. They have
- 11:34Speaker 1: their own entertainment district complex. It's about three miles south
- 11:38Speaker 1: of downtown, between downtown and the airport. Again along the freeway.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Looked like it used to be an industrial area.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Atlanta, Well, Atlanta used.
- 11:46Speaker 1: To be right downtown and now they've moved it out
- 11:48Speaker 1: to it's across a highway and you have to it's
- 11:52Speaker 1: really convoluted to get you know, we're talking about this,
- 11:54Speaker 1: it's really convoluted to get into. But it's not right
- 11:57Speaker 1: where the Georgia Dome was. Georgia Dame was right next
- 11:59Speaker 1: to Centennial Park in the Olympic Village and writing downtown.
- 12:03Speaker 1: This is a probably a half mile or a mile out.
- 12:06Speaker 1: It's close to downtown, Okay, it's walkable.
- 12:08Speaker 2: There are some that are close close.
- 12:09Speaker 3: So the one that's like only one that's in downtown
- 12:12Speaker 3: in the.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Ruck and Vancouver, Vancouver and Seattle a little too. And
- 12:15Speaker 1: I think that is a huge reason why it's been universal.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Soccer writers all over the world said the two best
- 12:22Speaker 1: venues in this World Cup are Seattle and Vancouver for
- 12:24Speaker 1: fan experience and location and stadiums and all of it.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Caitlin Clark, if you haven't heard, we're gonna talk about
- 12:31Speaker 1: her during the show. She got her neck pushed down
- 12:33Speaker 1: to the floor a loose ball scrambled the other night
- 12:36Speaker 1: and her coach came angrily to her a frience yesterday,
- 12:38Speaker 1: but that was two days after it happened, right, So
- 12:41Speaker 1: there's some people that are saying, and not to mention,
- 12:44Speaker 1: what's the league doing here? That's your cash cow.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Well, and the other thing that the league did yesterday
- 12:50Speaker 3: that kind of angered a lot of people was they
- 12:53Speaker 3: put out their commemorative thirty year poster that they said,
- 12:58Speaker 3: this is the thirtieth year of the w NBA. They
- 13:00Speaker 3: put put one player on from each team, and they
- 13:03Speaker 3: didn't put Caitlin Clark on from the Fever.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Who they put on from the Storm, Sophie.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Cunning or from the Storm.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I'm not sure if they put Sophie Cunningham on the
- 13:10Speaker 1: Fever Shocker. Yeah, So who they put on for the Storm,
- 13:14Speaker 1: I don't know, I have to I would think super Bird,
- 13:17Speaker 1: Lauren Jackson.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I think they're all current players, all current players. Yeah,
- 13:20Speaker 3: because it's for the thirtieth season.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Oh, I would think for the thirtieth season they should
- 13:23Speaker 1: have the legends of the league every team's true. That's
- 13:27Speaker 1: a good question actually for the text line four nine
- 13:29Speaker 1: four five one Dutch TEXTI if for a thirty year
- 13:33Speaker 1: anniversary of the Storm in the w NBA, who would
- 13:37Speaker 1: be your legacy poster person? On?
- 13:41Speaker 3: Super Bird has to be super Bird, But Lauren Jackson
- 13:43Speaker 3: has a show. Laren Jackson really closed, Yeah, really really close.
- 13:47Speaker 3: But I would still pad super super Bird or Lauren Jackson.
- 13:50Speaker 3: It would be on a steward possibly, but because she's
- 13:53Speaker 3: moved played somewhere else, maybe not.
- 13:55Speaker 1: But yeah, four one. You can give us some women's
- 13:58Speaker 1: w NBA Storm soccer fan and give us that a
- 14:00Speaker 1: opinion too. Next two step forward, one step back for
- 14:04Speaker 1: the Mariners, Brian wu hard On himself. You're going to
- 14:07Speaker 1: hear from the Mariners starting pitcher next on ninety three
- 14:09Speaker 1: point three KJRFM.
- 14:14Speaker 4: Now back to Greg Bell and Christopher Kidd on your
- 14:17Speaker 4: home for the Huskies, Krakin and the twelfth Man Sports
- 14:21Speaker 4: Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Well, welcome back Greg Bell Anderson Hurst. Who's in for
- 14:32Speaker 1: Chris Kid today? I'm missing him? At one pm today
- 14:37Speaker 1: at Garfield High School. Seattle Public School has announced there
- 14:40Speaker 1: will be a press conference to announce that Brandon Roy,
- 14:43Speaker 1: favorite Garfield alum, University of Washington superstar, Portland Trailblazer superstar
- 14:49Speaker 1: Brandon Roy is returning to coach Garfield High schoo less
- 14:52Speaker 1: than a year after they fired him after allegations that
- 14:55Speaker 1: he was using an NBA agent to offer cash and
- 14:59Speaker 1: car and apart want to a possible transfer to Garfield.
- 15:03Speaker 1: But now he's back, so that apparently has been rectified.
- 15:06Speaker 1: There's gonna be a press conference. It is gonna be
- 15:08Speaker 1: on the Seattle Public Schools cable television Public Access channel
- 15:12Speaker 1: at one o'clock today at Garfield High School at Brandon
- 15:14Speaker 1: Roy back in coaching here in Seattle, in his hometown,
- 15:17Speaker 1: coaching his alma mater, Garfield High School boys basketball team
- 15:22Speaker 1: in Pittsburgh. The Pirates just laid it on Brian Wu
- 15:25Speaker 1: last night. Six hits and five runs and just one
- 15:29Speaker 1: inning the fourth inning to turn after woo first three
- 15:32Speaker 1: innings was cruising, and this was after a shutout over
- 15:36Speaker 1: seven innings of the Baltimore Orioles the last time he
- 15:38Speaker 1: pitched at home. But home is not the road, and
- 15:42Speaker 1: road is not the home for Bryan Wu. I mean
- 15:44Speaker 1: it is stark. The difference between two Wu is five
- 15:48Speaker 1: and zero with an ERA of exactly two. At T
- 15:50Speaker 1: Mobile Park. On the road, he's one and six, so
- 15:53Speaker 1: it's six point three eight ERA. After last night's shelling
- 15:56Speaker 1: in the fourth thing, he didn't come out for the
- 15:57Speaker 1: fifth ander er Dan Wilson let him concerned. Four four,
- 16:03Speaker 1: five one, I'm asked in the text line, maybe the
- 16:05Speaker 1: piggyback should include Brian Wu for a couple of turns.
- 16:09Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 16:10Speaker 2: I mean, It's just this is the thing about the piggyback.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Though everyone once it changes to someone else, they hope
- 16:15Speaker 3: it's someone else. For a while it was, you know,
- 16:17Speaker 3: Bryce Miller and Luis Castillo, and then it was like, oh,
- 16:19Speaker 3: maybe we should piggyback logan Gilbert because he always seems
- 16:21Speaker 3: to be really good through five innings and then cannot
- 16:23Speaker 3: get through anything past that. And now it's turned into
- 16:26Speaker 3: maybe it should be Brian Wo. Whenever he's on the road.
- 16:28Speaker 3: It's just whack a mole. It is kind of whackable.
- 16:31Speaker 3: It's exactly what it is.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Last night, Brian Wu was pretty hard. He was whacking
- 16:35Speaker 1: himself with the hammer. This was Brian Wu in the
- 16:38Speaker 1: clubhouse the reporters last night in Pittsburgh. Right, you see
- 16:42Speaker 1: the frustration out there out the mountain that ar I
- 16:45Speaker 1: think just walks through the.
- 16:46Speaker 5: Wind happen there.
- 16:56Speaker 6: Honestly, that's if I had answers for you, I'd had
- 17:03Speaker 6: answers for myself. But I just don't. Right now, I'm
- 17:10Speaker 6: digging out, I'm trying, I'm looking everywhere.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I just I just don't know. Like I wish I
- 17:16Speaker 5: had better answers for you.
- 17:17Speaker 1: But I just don't.
- 17:18Speaker 5: I mean, you've it.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It's clear you've.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Done a lot of analyzing on mice and everything. It
- 17:22Speaker 5: seems just like the.
- 17:23Speaker 6: One inning, it just gets sped up and I can't
- 17:26Speaker 6: get the pitch to get out of it.
- 17:27Speaker 1: I mean, does it feel like that on the noun
- 17:29Speaker 1: or what are you feeling now?
- 17:33Speaker 5: Uh?
- 17:33Speaker 6: It feels like I'm making good pitches. It feels like
- 17:35Speaker 6: I'm quos m trying to stay pitched to pitch like you.
- 17:44Speaker 5: Know, when I'm when I'm at my best.
- 17:50Speaker 6: That's That's what I feel like I'm doing because like
- 17:51Speaker 6: I did that today. Yeah, the one inning, it's like
- 17:57Speaker 6: you three to two hit all down the line. It's
- 18:04Speaker 6: a good pitch for a double.
- 18:11Speaker 5: Yeah, I really, I'm sorry. I wish I had better
- 18:14Speaker 5: answers for it.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I just like you had such a good story against Baltimore.
- 18:17Speaker 6: Did you feel the sign today and just the results
- 18:20Speaker 6: were different or did something to feel different.
- 18:23Speaker 2: At least.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Obviously is it?
- 18:28Speaker 1: It's correctable in your mind, but like you know, is
- 18:31Speaker 1: something like a little better.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Success here there on the road to Stasi. I don't know.
- 18:37Speaker 5: I feel like I'm doing anything different on the road.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I feel like.
- 18:43Speaker 5: I don't everything.
- 18:46Speaker 6: I try to keep as consistent as I can home,
- 18:49Speaker 6: home or away. Yeah, I'm sorry, I think I really
- 18:58Speaker 6: changed you in my wesh. I had better answers for you, guys.
- 18:59Speaker 6: I go, like I said, I find answers for you.
- 19:04Speaker 6: I have answers for myself that I'm looking.
- 19:06Speaker 5: And I'm trying, and I just I don't. I just
- 19:09Speaker 5: don't have is yourn with this. Wreviously want to keep
- 19:12Speaker 5: me uploading too light. They all keep me up late.
- 19:16Speaker 5: I really.
- 19:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it's not a good feeling putting your team in
- 19:23Speaker 6: the whole came after again. So yeah, I mean I
- 19:30Speaker 6: wish I could say I'm just gonna, you know, mpe
- 19:32Speaker 6: it off and get the next one, but I'm not.
- 19:33Speaker 5: And I don't know.
- 19:38Speaker 6: Is there anyone you've been on in the club Balle's
- 19:41Speaker 6: family friend, anyone you talk to.
- 19:42Speaker 5: Your shroom in general? Yeah, I mean, everybody's pretty great.
- 19:47Speaker 5: All starters.
- 19:47Speaker 6: We talk pretty much every inning here, every every between
- 19:50Speaker 6: every start.
- 19:53Speaker 5: You know, my mom tells me I'm doing time.
- 19:55Speaker 6: It's it's just it's baseball, you know, and it's it's kicking.
- 19:59Speaker 5: My straight up.
- 20:02Speaker 1: You rarely hear a major league or a professional athlete
- 20:05Speaker 1: that self flagellating as he was. Yeah, and good on
- 20:09Speaker 1: him for personal accountability, for sure. And I find Brian
- 20:13Speaker 1: wu in the times I've interviewed him in the clubhouse
- 20:15Speaker 1: to be exactly that. Very personally accountable and earnest. It
- 20:20Speaker 1: says what he thinks and doesn't really hide in cliches,
- 20:23Speaker 1: which is welcome for a journalist frankly, But I don't know,
- 20:28Speaker 1: is that too hard himself given the context of the
- 20:31Speaker 1: entire Mariners season.
- 20:32Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean he does.
- 20:34Speaker 3: I think in my eyes, he does everything he can
- 20:36Speaker 3: not to throw his team under the bus, correct because
- 20:39Speaker 3: he does not get helped by his defense and that
- 20:41Speaker 3: was definitely the case yesterday as well. But it's what
- 20:45Speaker 3: you're supposed to do as a teammate. But he still
- 20:47Speaker 3: I think feels like he's letting his team down, you know,
- 20:50Speaker 3: he mentioned that there. It's not a good feeling putting
- 20:52Speaker 3: her team in the.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Hole like that. It's tough to see.
- 20:56Speaker 3: He's always one of the guys that wears their emotions
- 20:59Speaker 3: on their sleeve more than anyone else of that pitching staff.
- 21:02Speaker 3: That's one of the things I enjoy about the Mariner's
- 21:04Speaker 3: pitching staff is they all kind of have different personalities.
- 21:06Speaker 3: You kind of have the very stoic logan Gilbert who
- 21:09Speaker 3: doesn't really change his expression at all. You got the
- 21:12Speaker 3: almost kind of always pissed off George Kirby. Uh he's
- 21:16Speaker 3: just no matter what's happening, he seems like he's annoyed
- 21:18Speaker 3: and ticked off, which I actually kind of love. You
- 21:21Speaker 3: got the very the rock Luis Castillo, who's gonna always
- 21:24Speaker 3: you know, kind of knock at too high, knocket too low.
- 21:27Speaker 3: You have the very emotional like when he makes a
- 21:29Speaker 3: good pitch, he screams into his glove. Brian wu uh,
- 21:33Speaker 3: and then you know, Bryce Miller is kind of like
- 21:35Speaker 3: the textand that kind of walks in there like he's,
- 21:38Speaker 3: you know, the guy. And then Emerson Hancock, very easy
- 21:40Speaker 3: going southern guy, the same kind of thing. So I
- 21:43Speaker 3: like how they have different types of personalities here. But
- 21:45Speaker 3: when things don't go well, that's always when you kind
- 21:47Speaker 3: of really see where the leadership is. And I like
- 21:51Speaker 3: this accountability from Brian wu even if it's not one
- 21:53Speaker 3: hundred percent his fault.
- 21:54Speaker 1: Well, if you couldn't he make it out in the
- 21:56Speaker 1: clubhouse and it's got music, well they lost eleven once
- 21:59Speaker 1: there wasn't much music, but there's things going on and
- 22:01Speaker 1: it's not always the greatest quality of audio. Will was
- 22:04Speaker 1: asked if he could just put Wednesday's performance aside and
- 22:07Speaker 1: get ready for the next start on turn. That would
- 22:10Speaker 1: be a Monday at home against the Angels, and Will
- 22:12Speaker 1: said quote, I wish I could say I could just
- 22:15Speaker 1: wipe the slate clean and say I'm going to get
- 22:17Speaker 1: ready for the next one, but I'm not. When you
- 22:19Speaker 1: keep putting your team in a hole, it's hard to
- 22:21Speaker 1: brush it aside. That's personal accountability, yes, but as Andrew said,
- 22:27Speaker 1: there's more to it than Brian Wood now pitching well
- 22:29Speaker 1: for one ending last night and Randy Rose Arena the
- 22:32Speaker 1: five ball down the left field line started the whole thing,
- 22:34Speaker 1: a ball that most times would be caught and most
- 22:38Speaker 1: major leaguers would catch. Of course, most major leaguers aren't
- 22:41Speaker 1: coming off a ten days stint on the injure list
- 22:43Speaker 1: with an hamstring injury. Before the game last night. Interesting
- 22:46Speaker 1: in context. I don't know if you caught Dan Wilson
- 22:49Speaker 1: last night before the game, anders He said, well, we're
- 22:51Speaker 1: still kind of being cautious with Luke Rayley and Randy
- 22:54Speaker 1: Rose Arena coming off their injuries. And I thought to
- 22:56Speaker 1: myself hearing it before the game, before the Randy roserena
- 22:59Speaker 1: pop fly, I thought, okay, well, why are they playing well?
- 23:03Speaker 1: You can't dh everybody, That's why canzone and moved the
- 23:08Speaker 1: DHS lately because he's been injured. But why are they
- 23:11Speaker 1: back from these injured list if they're still injured? And
- 23:15Speaker 1: that is putting Brian Woward a disadvantage to have fielders
- 23:17Speaker 1: who are not one hundred percent able to go get
- 23:20Speaker 1: fly balls that should be caught. That's not the picture's fault.
- 23:23Speaker 1: That's the management's fault for putting a picture or a
- 23:26Speaker 1: left fielder out there who can't run. It's maybe a
- 23:29Speaker 1: Randy rose Arena's fault from would apparently not given the
- 23:31Speaker 1: right effort. But if you're thinking about if you're in
- 23:33Speaker 1: a ros Arena's head on that ball, he said, I
- 23:35Speaker 1: could go all out like this is Game seven in October,
- 23:39Speaker 1: but I might be out for a month or two
- 23:41Speaker 1: or three because I might rip the hamstring that's been.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Strained last year at the Giants.
- 23:45Speaker 1: That's correct. Yes, that is a thank you. That's a
- 23:48Speaker 1: perfectly timed reference andres so suffice to say, there's always
- 23:54Speaker 1: more nuanced than just a pitcher blew up. Almost always
- 23:58Speaker 1: on the bright side, I wanted to up Andris Munhos.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Chris and I talked for months about how Munos was
- 24:05Speaker 1: not commanding his slider, and when he commanded it, he
- 24:07Speaker 1: commanded it straight over the heart of the plate and
- 24:09Speaker 1: he got smashed. And we all said, Chris and I
- 24:12Speaker 1: talked about maybe he should just rely on one hundred
- 24:14Speaker 1: and two mile an hour fastball more. And that's what
- 24:17Speaker 1: he did in Pittsburgh. And I saw the headline Ryan
- 24:20Speaker 1: Devish had in his notebook Geam for Pittsburgh this morning
- 24:22Speaker 1: in this morning's Seattle Times, it says he's going back
- 24:24Speaker 1: to his was going back to his fastball and get
- 24:27Speaker 1: great results. Yeah, that's what he should be doing, right.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I know a lot of guys in the league now
- 24:32Speaker 1: throw ninety eight ninety I mean it started for the
- 24:34Speaker 1: Pirates through one hundred miles an hour in the first
- 24:36Speaker 1: inning today. Yes, But Munos's ball moves, it rises, it
- 24:42Speaker 1: sometimes tails away. His fastball isn't just straight and one
- 24:45Speaker 1: hundred and two with any kind of movement at all
- 24:47Speaker 1: is almost imposible. And that's what happened in Pittsburgh. The
- 24:51Speaker 1: other it blew three Pirates away.
- 24:52Speaker 5: Right.
- 24:52Speaker 3: And the biggest thing with the Munios is I think
- 24:56Speaker 3: they call it pitching backwards, where you have like Mason
- 24:59Speaker 3: Miller's fantastic example, he has the one hundred and three
- 25:02Speaker 3: mile an hour fastball, but his best pitch is the
- 25:04Speaker 3: slider because his fastball is so good, Right, but the
- 25:08Speaker 3: slider is his best pitch. But you got to use
- 25:13Speaker 3: the fastball more often, and then it makes that one
- 25:16Speaker 3: time to use the slider that much more effective.
- 25:18Speaker 1: Right.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Sometimes when you see pitchers normally, it's like with if
- 25:21Speaker 3: they have a really good change up. We see Felix
- 25:23Speaker 3: Hernandez in his prime, they change up was his best pitch.
- 25:27Speaker 3: He would lead off with the change up and then
- 25:29Speaker 3: that would make his fastball that much better. That's pitching backwards.
- 25:31Speaker 3: So that's what I feel like Munios was trying to
- 25:33Speaker 3: do so much, but he's never lighter.
- 25:35Speaker 1: He never went to the fastball in key situation exactly,
- 25:38Speaker 1: and he would go to the it was slider to
- 25:39Speaker 1: set up the slider right exactly a couple months of
- 25:42Speaker 1: the season. And it's easy for me to say, sitting
- 25:44Speaker 1: on my couch, but I see a guy throwing one
- 25:47Speaker 1: hundred and two in the ball moves a little bit.
- 25:48Speaker 1: If I was a batter, I'd fear that pitch and
- 25:50Speaker 1: I would take a I would exhale if I saw
- 25:53Speaker 1: a slider.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Well, and the biggest thing is you said it earlier.
- 25:57Speaker 3: That's the pitch he can command right now. Correct, If
- 25:59Speaker 3: you can located, you can throw that pitch almost every
- 26:02Speaker 3: single time and have it. I mean, obviously you're gonna
- 26:05Speaker 3: get squared up a couple of times. That's why you
- 26:06Speaker 3: have the slider in there to mix in. But you
- 26:08Speaker 3: don't need to use it eighty percent of the time. Right,
- 26:12Speaker 3: It's use your fastball, trust it, and then have the
- 26:14Speaker 3: slider work off of that.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Okay, those either want me to transcribe to Brian wu
- 26:20Speaker 1: interview because you couldn't hear it. Clearly, I don't have
- 26:22Speaker 1: time to do that while hosting a live reader show,
- 26:24Speaker 1: but I'll get on it, or you can open the
- 26:26Speaker 1: Seattle Times or the MLB dot com And.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Yeah, it was an official audio.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Like that's kind of what we have to deal with
- 26:31Speaker 3: with these kind of postgame media scrums.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Right. It's so they have press conferences for the manager
- 26:37Speaker 1: in front of the cameras and that's been a nice
- 26:38Speaker 1: shiny audio and lighting. Yeah, but I will tell you,
- 26:41Speaker 1: in a baseball clubhouse, it's not like that. And it's
- 26:43Speaker 1: you're stepping over bat bags and guys are going by
- 26:46Speaker 1: and yeah all that stuff. So next, let's talk about
- 26:50Speaker 1: our World Cup Today segment. We do at least once
- 26:52Speaker 1: a day, every segment, and I've got a guy that'll
- 26:54Speaker 1: talk quite a bit about it. Anderson Hurst knows quite
- 26:56Speaker 1: a bit about soccer, used to play college level and
- 26:58Speaker 1: beyond is one of our soccer anos. We'll talk about
- 27:00Speaker 1: the World Cup, including the United States being in a
- 27:02Speaker 1: really different situation tonight on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 27:09Speaker 4: Now back to Greg Bell and Christopher Kidd on your
- 27:12Speaker 4: Home for the Huskies, Crockett and the twelfth Man Sports
- 27:16Speaker 4: Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Foorback Greig Bell, Christopher Kids Shows with Anderson Hurst. Today
- 27:39Speaker 1: Chris is not in, Thanks for joining us. Happy Thursday
- 27:42Speaker 1: to you. Not a happy Thursday for the Mariners after
- 27:45Speaker 1: their Wednesday drubbing last night. I won't spoil what if
- 27:49Speaker 1: you're taping it in your work or whatever, but it's
- 27:51Speaker 1: just not going well. Let's just put it that way.
- 27:55Speaker 1: Halfway through the game in Pittsburgh, the World Cup is
- 28:00Speaker 1: it's round robin matches. There are a couple more days
- 28:02Speaker 1: of triple headers of two group stage matches going on
- 28:07Speaker 1: simultaneously at each time, so that the other game doesn't
- 28:10Speaker 1: know what the other match is doing, so that they're
- 28:13Speaker 1: can try full and not worry about permutations. In the NFL, right,
- 28:17Speaker 1: then all the games start at the same time. Major
- 28:19Speaker 1: League Baseball now does the same thing on the final
- 28:21Speaker 1: Sunday of the regular season. That's what the third and
- 28:24Speaker 1: final group stage match rounds are. In the World Cup.
- 28:27Speaker 1: The United States plays tonight in a situation they have
- 28:30Speaker 1: never been in their World Cup history, which goes back
- 28:33Speaker 1: ninety six years to nineteen thirty the first Cup. They
- 28:37Speaker 1: have never won first the first two matches of a
- 28:39Speaker 1: group stage. They have never played a game that means
- 28:42Speaker 1: nothing because they've already clinched something that's never happened in
- 28:45Speaker 1: the United States soccer history, and that's happening tonight in
- 28:48Speaker 1: Inglewood Sofi Stadium. They're playing Turkey seven pm on Fox.
- 28:53Speaker 1: But it doesn't matter. They've already advanced to the round
- 28:56Speaker 1: to thirty two by winning the group. They're already going
- 28:59Speaker 1: to play well nine percent certain they're going to play
- 29:01Speaker 1: Bosnia Hersgovina. They already know when they're going to play
- 29:03Speaker 1: July first, they don't know where they're going to play,
- 29:05Speaker 1: and that's at Levi Stadium, where the Seahawks won the
- 29:08Speaker 1: Super Bowl in Santa Clara in February. So tonight, Anderson
- 29:12Speaker 1: Hurst College soccer player, resident of soccer expert national iHeartRadio
- 29:18Speaker 1: Maven for the World Cup on online streaming of the games.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Would you rest Tyler Adams and keep him from yellow
- 29:25Speaker 1: card accumulation? Would you rest Christian Pilisic coming off of
- 29:28Speaker 1: his calf strain? Why you could have two full weeks
- 29:31Speaker 1: off of him not having to be competitive? Would you
- 29:34Speaker 1: play Christian roll Don because he may not play the
- 29:36Speaker 1: rest of the season. Would you give Matt Freeze the
- 29:40Speaker 1: night off in goal? What would you do? See?
- 29:44Speaker 3: I would try and lean into as much of your
- 29:48Speaker 3: preferred starting eleven as possible, anyone that is like fully
- 29:52Speaker 3: one hundred percent that if this game would matter, you
- 29:55Speaker 3: would have no worries about I would I would probably
- 29:58Speaker 3: start Marico Pochctino has already come out and said that
- 30:01Speaker 3: anyone with a yellow card is not going to play.
- 30:03Speaker 3: That's smart, yes, very smart, because they do get wiped.
- 30:07Speaker 2: After explaining that.
- 30:08Speaker 1: There are fans in the text line yesterday who were
- 30:11Speaker 1: listeners who weren't quite sure what that meant.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yes, So basically during this World Cup, if you accumulate
- 30:18Speaker 3: multiple yellow cards, doesn't have to be in the same game,
- 30:20Speaker 3: doesn't have to yeah, correct, But if it doesn't have
- 30:24Speaker 3: to be in the same game, doesn't have to be
- 30:26Speaker 3: consecutive games. If you accumulate multiple yellow cards, then you
- 30:31Speaker 3: are suspended a further game after that point. So maybe
- 30:34Speaker 3: you get a yellow card in the first game and
- 30:36Speaker 3: then a yellow card in the second game, you can't
- 30:38Speaker 3: play in the third game. Your yellow card gets wiped
- 30:41Speaker 3: after the group stage. But if someone who got a
- 30:45Speaker 3: yellow card in the first two games, either the first
- 30:47Speaker 3: game or the second game, and then you get a
- 30:49Speaker 3: yellow card in this third game, you are suspended still
- 30:51Speaker 3: for the following game. Right, the card doesn't get wiped
- 30:54Speaker 3: until after the great stage.
- 30:56Speaker 1: So if you get a yellow card tonight, say you're
- 30:58Speaker 1: Tyler Adams, central to their midfield plan, exactly, if you
- 31:02Speaker 1: get a yellow card in a game that doesn't matter,
- 31:04Speaker 1: you will not be able to play a game it does, correct,
- 31:06Speaker 1: and Poachaettino said, quote, my decision will be easy for
- 31:09Speaker 1: the guys with yellow cards. It's unnecessary to take a
- 31:11Speaker 1: risk to pick up another yellow card and not be
- 31:13Speaker 1: available for the next round. That sounds pretty logical to me.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Yes, But also at the same time, those who don't
- 31:21Speaker 3: have yellow cards and those who don't have nagging injuries
- 31:23Speaker 3: you mentioned Christian Polisick. That's a tough situation for me
- 31:27Speaker 3: because I feel like if this game were playing for qualification,
- 31:32Speaker 3: he would be playing, he would be starting, and I
- 31:36Speaker 3: don't almost don't.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Want him resting for two whole weeks just not playing.
- 31:40Speaker 2: You know.
- 31:42Speaker 3: That's kind of the the balancing act I would make.
- 31:45Speaker 3: I would give him thirty minutes at the sixty minute
- 31:47Speaker 3: mark possibly. That way you can kind of get his
- 31:50Speaker 3: legs under him, get him some game time without you know,
- 31:52Speaker 3: trying to overwork him, and kind of get him back
- 31:54Speaker 3: into the swing of things. You mentioned also Christian role
- 31:56Speaker 3: Don he also has a nagging injury, which is a
- 31:59Speaker 3: big rea and why I believe he didn't come in
- 32:01Speaker 3: for the Seattle game.
- 32:02Speaker 1: When it turns out he got the injury in the
- 32:04Speaker 1: last practice before the match here in Seattle at the
- 32:07Speaker 1: University of Washington, his old field. Yeah, and that's why
- 32:09Speaker 1: he didn't play. And that's why when the two subs
- 32:11Speaker 1: came in when a minute left, it one of was.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Not rolled on perfect situation for him, I was I
- 32:17Speaker 2: was a gast.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I was like, well, how could Poacha Tina not bring
- 32:19Speaker 1: him in for sixty seconds and get the ovation?
- 32:21Speaker 3: And now that's why. Now we know why. Yeah, so,
- 32:24Speaker 3: I mean it is what it is. I would try
- 32:27Speaker 3: and because these international teams don't spend much time together
- 32:32Speaker 3: as a group. With club teams, you're practicing every day.
- 32:34Speaker 3: You're playing every week throughout the entire calendar year and
- 32:37Speaker 3: maybe a couple breaks. With international teams you maybe get
- 32:41Speaker 3: a month total out of the whole year together. So
- 32:46Speaker 3: the as much game time as you can get together
- 32:48Speaker 3: in competitive situations is so key. So and you have
- 32:53Speaker 3: built this momentum in these first couple of games. I
- 32:55Speaker 3: want to continue to build that instead of just kind
- 32:58Speaker 3: of kick this one to the curb and use it
- 33:00Speaker 3: as a resking.
- 33:01Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
- 33:01Speaker 1: You sound like Tyler Adams, Yes, who said yesterday I
- 33:04Speaker 1: want to be on the field. Yes, that was his quote,
- 33:06Speaker 1: and Pochettino the Argentina. You want to know what Pochettino's like, Yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 1: this is what Pochettino said to that, because Adams argued,
- 33:14Speaker 1: all right, I'm going to be smart. I won't be
- 33:16Speaker 1: as aggressive. I'll play cautiously.
- 33:19Speaker 2: There's no reason to risk it.
- 33:21Speaker 1: Poshattino said, I want players who are going to eat
- 33:24Speaker 1: the grass exactly. I love that.
- 33:27Speaker 2: How awesome is that? But like he's right, though, you can't.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Have someone playing half ass, you know what I mean exactly?
- 33:34Speaker 1: He doesn't want to set that tone exactly. And you
- 33:37Speaker 1: can't switch it on and off.
- 33:38Speaker 2: No, you can't. You absolutely cannot.
- 33:39Speaker 3: And what if you're in a situation where you know
- 33:43Speaker 3: it's it's a it's a last man sit or a
- 33:46Speaker 3: counter attacks happening, and you're just you're taught as a
- 33:48Speaker 3: player to oh, foul the guy, and then it's an
- 33:50Speaker 3: instant yellow card.
- 33:50Speaker 2: Because that's kind of how the game works.
- 33:52Speaker 3: You can't turn that off, as you said, So it's
- 33:55Speaker 3: a good opportunity to get some of the extra squad
- 33:58Speaker 3: players who you will need in the knockout stages at
- 34:02Speaker 3: some point, but also try and keep continue to build
- 34:05Speaker 3: what you have in these first couple of games. Any
- 34:08Speaker 3: I just you baseline starting eleven who you would normally do,
- 34:13Speaker 3: and then take out the yellow cards, take the injuries,
- 34:18Speaker 3: take out the injuries as well.
- 34:19Speaker 1: Okay yea. So even though Polistics said he feels great
- 34:23Speaker 1: and he's looking forward to playing.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I'd playing for thirty minutes.
- 34:25Speaker 1: I think I would agree with you on that. Yes,
- 34:28Speaker 1: that's Turkey tonight, seven o'clock, with the United States already clinching.
- 34:32Speaker 1: It's it's one of the and maybe the only match
- 34:35Speaker 1: of this cycle of third group stage games that means
- 34:38Speaker 1: acolutely nothing.
- 34:38Speaker 3: Well, and that's the other thing is because it doesn't
- 34:40Speaker 3: mean anything for tur Turkey's eliminated, which is why I
- 34:42Speaker 3: also am kind of a little iffy on on playing
- 34:45Speaker 3: injured guys, because they they are just.
- 34:48Speaker 1: They might just go exactly like last day of school.
- 34:50Speaker 3: Berserk exactly, just like I'm trying to prove everything, like
- 34:53Speaker 3: we're going out on a high sort of thing, and
- 34:56Speaker 3: you know, if I get a red card, so be it.
- 34:58Speaker 5: You know.
- 34:58Speaker 3: So that's a little bit iffy on my part. But
- 35:01Speaker 3: I still would want to get time for the starting eleven.
- 35:04Speaker 1: That Turners should play tonight.
- 35:05Speaker 3: I think, yeah, I think so. I was surprised didn't
- 35:08Speaker 3: start first couple of.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Games, and Matt Freese has been the really good he
- 35:13Speaker 1: has given up well, the entire defense has given up
- 35:15Speaker 1: one goal in two games. Up next, we have a
- 35:19Speaker 1: Pote prix of things to get to, including Kaitlyn Carr
- 35:21Speaker 1: getting roughed up in the WNBA again and their coach
- 35:23Speaker 1: coming to her defense two days later, and the really
- 35:27Speaker 1: bizarre case for Detroit Lions cornerback Terry On Arnold, who
- 35:32Speaker 1: is risking his entire football career, his entire life actually
- 35:35Speaker 1: on what he's facing on felony charges out of Tampa, Florida.
- 35:38Speaker 1: What is Tom Dundan doing with the Blazers and the
- 35:41Speaker 1: people of Portland and the entire state of Oregon.
- 35:44Speaker 2: We know all about what he's going to say.
- 35:47Speaker 1: You're going to hear next on what his proposal is
- 35:49Speaker 1: for a new Blazers arena in Portland. A billionaire telling
- 35:53Speaker 1: the State of Oregon's residence. You'll hear what that's coming
- 35:56Speaker 1: up next to ninety three point three kJ RFM
