- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn Spanish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Hey, last episode we were describing nature in the park. Today I want to talk about something more fun. Lucas: Oh yeah? What's that? Luna: Playground stuff! Swings, slides, sandbox. You know. Lucas: Aww, that's a great idea. Let's learn some playground vocabulary. First up: el columpio. That means 'the swing'. Luna: El columpio. Columpio. Say it again? Lucas: El columpio. Think of a swing moving back and forth. Columpio. Luna: El columpio. Okay, got it. What's next? Lucas: El tobogán. The slide. Luna: El tobogán. That sounds fun. Tobogán. Lucas: Exactly. And then we have el arenero. The sandbox. Luna: El arenero. So arena is sand, and arenero is where the sand is? Lucas: You got it. Arena is sand, and -ero makes it a place. So el arenero is the sandbox. Good connection. Luna: Nice. Now let's put them in sentences. How about 'Los niños juegan en el columpio'? Lucas: Perfect. That means 'The children play on the swing.' Los niños juegan en el columpio. Luna: Los niños juegan en el columpio. I love that. Lucas: Now you try: 'Me gusta el tobogán.' I like the slide. Luna: Me gusta el tobogán. Easy. And 'El arenero tiene arena'? Lucas: Exactly. 'The sandbox has sand.' El arenero tiene arena. Luna: El arenero tiene arena. That's a good one. Lucas: You know, if this kind of practical vocabulary is helping you, there's a way to support the show. Fexingo stays ad-free thanks to listeners like you. Let's practice a quick dialogue. Lucas: Sure. I'll say: 'Me gusta el columpio. ¿Y a ti?' You reply: 'A mí me gusta el tobogán.' Luna: Me gusta el columpio. ¿Y a ti? A mí me gusta el tobogán. Lucas: Excellent. Now let's hear you say: 'Los niños juegan en el arenero.' Luna: Los niños juegan en el arenero. That's a nice sentence. Lucas: And I'll add: 'El arenero tiene arena amarilla.' The sandbox has yellow sand. Luna: Oh, amarilla. That's a new color. But we'll save that for another day. Lucas: Right. For now, let's review. Say the words again: el columpio, el tobogán, el arenero. Luna: El columpio, el tobogán, el arenero. Got them. Lucas: And the sentences: Los niños juegan en el columpio. Me gusta el tobogán. El arenero tiene arena. Luna: Los niños juegan en el columpio. Me gusta el tobogán. El arenero tiene arena. Perfect. Lucas: That's it for today. Practice these, and next time we'll take our playground words to a new spot. See you then. Luna: Hasta luego!
