- 0:00As long as we are getting upset or disturbed, the external
- 0:04personality is still reacting to things and we have not attained
- 0:09the true standpoint of the witness consciousness.
- 0:12Thus, we experience difficulties and respond based on the guna
- 0:17that is predominant at the moment.
- 0:20We may react with happiness if things seem to be working
- 0:23according to our expectation, frustration or anger if we feel
- 0:29like we are not getting what we want, or despondency or
- 0:33depression if we lose hope or feel like our efforts are being
- 0:38rebuffed. We frequently try to distract
- 0:42ourselves from the difficulties we experience through various
- 0:45means, including immersing ourselves in work, keeping busy
- 0:51so we don't have time to think. As we often hear people say,
- 0:56this does not solve the issue but simply turns the attention
- 1:00away for a period of time. Wherever we focus our attention,
- 1:06we create a connection that brings the force or energy of
- 1:10that object of attention into our consciousness.
- 1:14If we focus on our spiritual aspiration, we automatically get
- 1:19a response which begins to have its impact first by providing a
- 1:24sense of separation from the external nature, thereby
- 1:28bringing peace to the being. From this foundation, the
- 1:33aspiration and tapasia concentration of conscious force
- 1:39begin to manifest the next stages of the Sadhna Srioro
- 1:44Bindu observes. Quote, aspire, concentrate in
- 1:49the right spirit, and whatever the difficulties you are sure to
- 1:54attain, the aim you have put before you, it is in the peace
- 1:58behind. And that's something truer in
- 2:02you that you must learn to live and feel it to be yourself.
- 2:07You must regard the rest as not your real self, but only a flux
- 2:12of changing or recurring movements on the surface which
- 2:16are sure to go as the true self emerges.
- 2:21Peace is the true remedy. Distraction by hard work is only
- 2:26a temporary relief, although a certain amount of work is
- 2:30necessary for the proper balance of the different parts of the
- 2:33being. To feel the peace above and
- 2:37about your head is a first step. You have to get connected with
- 2:42it, and it must descend into you and fill your mind and life and
- 2:48body and surround you so that you live in it.
- 2:52For this peace is the one sign of the Divine's presence with
- 2:56you, and once you have it, all the rest will begin to come.
- 3:03Truth in speech and truth in thought are very important.
- 3:08The more you can feel falsehood as being not part of yourself,
- 3:12as coming on you from outside, the easier it will be to reject
- 3:17and refuse it. Persevere, and what is still
- 3:22crooked will be made straight, and you will know and feel
- 3:26constantly the truth of the Divine's presence, and your
- 3:30faith will be justified by direct experience.
