- 0:31Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:32Media Roundtable.
- 0:35It's been a week.
- 0:36What's going on, everyone?
- 0:38Hey.
- 0:40We got the full team in.
- 0:42Mine is Charlie.
- 0:43Charlie's supposed to be in
- 0:44the chat with you all.
- 0:47I'm assuming lots of kids at home.
- 0:51No, they're at school.
- 0:52They go back to school, right?
- 0:53Yeah.
- 0:54Really?
- 0:54They're back to school already?
- 0:55Yeah.
- 0:57Wow.
- 0:58I'm not, but they are.
- 1:02I still have two weeks.
- 1:04That's awesome.
- 1:05Yeah.
- 1:06I mean, I, to be honest,
- 1:08I was actually already
- 1:09doing some stuff right
- 1:10before we logged in here.
- 1:11Like I'm,
- 1:12I don't have to be physically there yet,
- 1:14but I've,
- 1:15I've got a lot of work to do to
- 1:17get ready.
- 1:19When does Natalie go back?
- 1:22We take her on Saturday.
- 1:23Okay.
- 1:24okay so you're gearing up
- 1:26yeah here's what's funny
- 1:28about this is even my kids
- 1:32said to me did you get um
- 1:35why'd you get all dressed
- 1:36up for your podcast today I
- 1:40didn't get dressed up you
- 1:41mean put makeup on and do
- 1:42my hair I know it's so rare
- 1:44it only happens once every
- 1:46few weeks so that's so good
- 1:49how long have we been doing this podcast
- 1:52Four years.
- 1:54It's almost five.
- 1:56Yeah.
- 1:57Almost five, right?
- 1:58Yeah.
- 1:58Do you realize that like the
- 2:00majority of our listeners are listeners?
- 2:04Oh, sorry.
- 2:05So you should read the comment.
- 2:07The comment said,
- 2:09Amy got Kat's hairdresser's
- 2:11number or something.
- 2:12I did my hair.
- 2:14I washed my hair.
- 2:15It's clean.
- 2:16It smells good.
- 2:17I blow dried it and then I curled it.
- 2:19It looks awesome.
- 2:21I am.
- 2:22I got my hair did yesterday.
- 2:23Yeah.
- 2:25So I just woke up this morning,
- 2:27slept on it,
- 2:27worked out and then fluffed it.
- 2:31Cause I can do that.
- 2:32See, I can't do that.
- 2:34Oh, I put extra goo in mine.
- 2:36There you go.
- 2:39Speaking of working out cat
- 2:41worked out this morning.
- 2:42What'd you do?
- 2:43I did.
- 2:43Um, I did the, uh,
- 2:47A 15 minute AMRAP with a 25
- 2:51double under five dumbbell push press,
- 2:53five dumbbell step over
- 2:55buy-in with a max calorie echo bike.
- 2:59So five rounds in three minutes,
- 3:02like a three minute in
- 3:03three minute intervals.
- 3:05So I got like, I didn't get many calories.
- 3:07I was kind of dogging it.
- 3:08I was quitting after like
- 3:09two minutes and 45 seconds to get a rest.
- 3:12Um,
- 3:13think I got like 65 calories
- 3:15I think the the highest
- 3:16member at my gym got like
- 3:1775 calories maybe for the
- 3:20five rounds um you ended up
- 3:22being on the bike for like
- 3:23a minute and a half minute
- 3:2645 seconds two minutes if
- 3:27you were really fast but I
- 3:28used 20 pound dumbbells in
- 3:30a 20 inch box um but fun
- 3:33fact yesterday I did a
- 3:34workout with power cleans
- 3:37and um I did 85 pounds and
- 3:39it was like for reps it was
- 3:41a it was a lot of
- 3:42work.
- 3:42I was doing them as singles.
- 3:43And I was saying to somebody like, um,
- 3:47I remember when I could do grace, my,
- 3:50my best grace time is like
- 3:52two 47 or two 27 or something like that.
- 3:55Grace.
- 3:55Yeah, 95 pounds, clean and jerks,
- 3:57like 30 in a row.
- 3:58And this was like sets of
- 4:00eight clean and jerks.
- 4:02And I was doing them at 85
- 4:03pounds and it was like one at a time.
- 4:06Yeah.
- 4:07With breaks in between.
- 4:08I think I cycled like three,
- 4:10one of the rounds,
- 4:11I think it was doing like rounds of nine.
- 4:13It was so hard.
- 4:16I'm really out of shape.
- 4:17Yeah.
- 4:18It's engine goes so fast.
- 4:23All of it.
- 4:24I'm losing a lot of strength, too,
- 4:26just from not lifting.
- 4:27But I did back squats yesterday,
- 4:28so tomorrow I will be dying,
- 4:32hurting in a lot of ways.
- 4:34That's what I expect.
- 4:35Day two.
- 4:35How about you?
- 4:39Scott,
- 4:39you don't work out today because of
- 4:41this podcast right here.
- 4:43Correct.
- 4:44Did you work out yesterday?
- 4:47My workouts look really
- 4:48shitty right now just
- 4:49because of the no antihistamine issue.
- 4:54It was a pretty nice day yesterday.
- 4:55Yeah.
- 4:57Did you walk yesterday?
- 4:58You should walk.
- 5:00I probably did walk, Walter, a little bit.
- 5:02Okay.
- 5:04But I did get on the bike
- 5:06and just kind of hang out
- 5:07in my garage yesterday.
- 5:09Yeah.
- 5:11Charlie and I did a terrible
- 5:12workout today.
- 5:13Terrible.
- 5:15It was three rounds every 10 minutes.
- 5:18You do 12 calories on the bike,
- 5:2312 burpee box getovers,
- 5:2612 calories on the bike,
- 5:27nine burpee box getovers,
- 5:2812 calories on the bike,
- 5:30six burpee box getovers.
- 5:33Yeah, three rounds of that.
- 5:35It was a sprint because the
- 5:38goal is to be done around
- 5:39five minutes and then rest.
- 5:42What do you guys do for the getovers?
- 5:45Well, I coached it one way.
- 5:48And then when I did the workout,
- 5:49I did it a totally different way.
- 5:51I typically like to,
- 5:53do it like, um,
- 5:54like where I'm almost like
- 5:56diagonal towards the box.
- 5:57And then I placed my hands
- 5:58on the box and then jump my feet on top.
- 6:01And then I kind of twist and turn around.
- 6:02Um, so are you piling, like,
- 6:05is it 40 inches or you're probably, no,
- 6:07no, no, no, no.
- 6:08It was 24 and 30 inches today.
- 6:11Oh, okay.
- 6:12Got it.
- 6:12So we didn't need to do that with other,
- 6:14there was no banding of,
- 6:15there's no Chad set up at the gym.
- 6:18Nope.
- 6:18But I did do, when I did the workout,
- 6:20I did do my burpee and then
- 6:21put my butt on the box and
- 6:23spin it around.
- 6:25Perfect.
- 6:26It was, it was, it counted.
- 6:27We have, there's a lot of, uh,
- 6:31rowing program or burpee
- 6:33over rower programmed with Ibex and, uh,
- 6:37the people at my gym cannot,
- 6:38are not hurtling over a rower.
- 6:40So we always end up just
- 6:41doing regular burpees, but yeah.
- 6:43Burpee get overs.
- 6:44I think they, they dig.
- 6:45I like them.
- 6:46Interrupted.
- 6:46Yeah.
- 6:49Corey, six rounds,
- 6:50two minutes rest between,
- 6:5132 heavy rope dubs, 16 GHD sit-ups,
- 6:5510 thrusters at 115,
- 6:57eight-bar muscle-ups.
- 6:5910 thrusters at 115.
- 7:07On a different note, Scott,
- 7:09my wife is traveling over
- 7:10to Alabama with her mother, Karen Dawkins,
- 7:13who will compete in the
- 7:1465-plus next weekend.
- 7:17One, super excited to meet them.
- 7:19That's going to be awesome.
- 7:21Two,
- 7:22why hasn't she contacted me to have a
- 7:24profile done on this channel?
- 7:28Let's do it.
- 7:30She should.
- 7:33I interviewed Kelly Frio
- 7:34last week from the UK,
- 7:36and I'm interviewing a guy
- 7:38tomorrow from the UK.
- 7:42So, yeah.
- 7:42Hmm.
- 7:45I've not interviewed anybody
- 7:46from the Isle of Man.
- 7:51Chelsea says,
- 7:54been a while since I've made a live.
- 7:56Amy, how goes the muscle-ups?
- 7:59We're still chugging along.
- 8:02Actually, I got my first entry from them.
- 8:04Let's see if you can see this.
- 8:07See this bruise?
- 8:08I'm going to lose this.
- 8:09Oh, yeah.
- 8:09What happened?
- 8:11Well, we've been working on...
- 8:13No,
- 8:13we've been working on some strength and
- 8:15it was, you know,
- 8:16like face down on a bench
- 8:20and like doing dumbbell rows.
- 8:22And so like I went to put
- 8:23the dumbbells down and I
- 8:24just slammed it right on
- 8:25top of my finger.
- 8:27And that was that.
- 8:29But my I've been doing
- 8:31assisted strict muscle ups
- 8:33and they're looking good.
- 8:36My coach even said.
- 8:39I've been taking the online
- 8:40gymnastics course for the
- 8:42last year and a half because I just,
- 8:46I go to it and then I
- 8:47forget about it and then I revisit it.
- 8:49And now that I'm due for
- 8:50renewal on September 7th,
- 8:52I have to get my act
- 8:53together and finish it.
- 8:54And there's like 10 more modules to do.
- 8:56But every time they talk
- 8:57about like arches and hollows,
- 8:58it makes me want to go back
- 9:00to like the basics.
- 9:02Cause I feel like,
- 9:03like I'm not even doing toes to bar.
- 9:05Right.
- 9:06in the gymnastics sense.
- 9:12So interesting.
- 9:14Apparently Jake's
- 9:15mother-in-law sounds like a pirate.
- 9:19Sounds fun.
- 9:20It does sound fun.
- 9:23He answers Jay Birch by saying,
- 9:26you just wait to hear a voice.
- 9:28It's like an extra from a
- 9:29Johnny Depp film.
- 9:30Okay then.
- 9:33All right.
- 9:34Definitely got to get her in
- 9:35the behind the scenes then.
- 9:36Right.
- 9:40Did Mark reach out to you?
- 9:41Mark Peters?
- 9:42He did.
- 9:43Okay, cool.
- 9:44We're finalizing a time now.
- 9:46Good.
- 9:49Yeah,
- 9:49I have like maybe five for this week
- 9:53set up already and a couple
- 9:55kind of lingering.
- 9:56But like we leave next week,
- 9:58like next Tuesday.
- 9:59Okay.
- 10:00Are you going to ask you,
- 10:01what is your mode of transportation?
- 10:03Who are you going with?
- 10:03What are the details?
- 10:05Uh, I'm going with my wife.
- 10:06Okay.
- 10:08We are driving, um, so that we have a car.
- 10:11It can take the equipment, all of that.
- 10:14Um,
- 10:16and it's like an eight hour trip to
- 10:19Birmingham.
- 10:20So that's about what we did to Madison.
- 10:23Yeah.
- 10:24Right.
- 10:24Amy.
- 10:25Yeah.
- 10:26Uh, I'd say a little less to Madison,
- 10:28but not, not by much.
- 10:30yeah um and then the team is
- 10:33caitlyn walters is a
- 10:35videographer jonathan
- 10:36ortega videographer and
- 10:39ellie hiller interviewer
- 10:41and then myself and ellie's
- 10:44an athlete right she is
- 10:45cool but they're gonna have two floors um
- 10:52They're going to have two floors, major,
- 10:55big size in this convention
- 10:57center running at the same time.
- 10:59I don't know what that means
- 11:00for the stream.
- 11:03I know that it's going to
- 11:04mean for us splitting up
- 11:05into the two sections
- 11:08somehow to cover both.
- 11:12which is going to be wild
- 11:13with four people.
- 11:15It's three floor.
- 11:16The one floor is smaller
- 11:17though than the other two.
- 11:20I'm hoping that there's only
- 11:21like one or two events there.
- 11:24The floater wide.
- 11:28Will your wife remind you to
- 11:30pack your cords and take your medicine?
- 11:32Or do I also need to give
- 11:34you those reminders?
- 11:36Yes.
- 11:37She'll remind me, for sure.
- 11:39And then also,
- 11:40I think she'll be a lot less
- 11:42annoying for you to travel
- 11:43with in the car than me.
- 11:45But... TVD.
- 11:48That's great.
- 11:49That's funny.
- 11:54Um...
- 12:06andrew said three floors two
- 12:07for individual one for
- 12:09teams so the teams are not
- 12:13they're a part of this but
- 12:14they're not like sanctioned
- 12:16as crossfit games winners
- 12:19um so that's going on as
- 12:22well during this is what so
- 12:27um jake's wife don't
- 12:29interview my wife though
- 12:30she's a retired olympian very boring
- 12:34Sounds like she has no
- 12:35stories at all to share.
- 12:36No.
- 12:40Here's what Andrew said.
- 12:41I found it.
- 12:42Two floors streamed,
- 12:43two floors for individuals,
- 12:44one floor for teams.
- 12:50Please not an Aussie breakdancer.
- 12:52I don't know.
- 12:53I found it entertaining, Chelsea.
- 12:57They did take breakdancing
- 12:58out of the next Olympics, though.
- 12:59Do you know what that Aussie
- 13:02breakdancer did?
- 13:04It made every one of us
- 13:05believe we could be an Olympian.
- 13:08You're right.
- 13:09It gave a lot of us hopes.
- 13:11So much hope.
- 13:13Yeah.
- 13:13I mean, she's like 36.
- 13:14I mean, so basically, I mean,
- 13:18you could start right now and train.
- 13:23My favorite was the dead fish.
- 13:24I think I could pull off that move.
- 13:27I love all the memes that
- 13:28have come out with it since.
- 13:34Uh,
- 13:34Corey's moving to Australia just to
- 13:36become an Olympic break dancer.
- 13:39Well, they're taking it out of,
- 13:41they're taking it out of
- 13:42the Olympics next time.
- 13:43So that's not a solid plan.
- 13:46Football's getting added.
- 13:49Um, okay.
- 13:50I like Carolyn's question here.
- 13:51What sport do you want to
- 13:52see added down the road in Olympics?
- 13:55Well,
- 13:56I can't believe that pickleball isn't
- 13:58there yet, but I bet it will be.
- 14:00I mean,
- 14:02if you have badminton and ping pong.
- 14:06pickleball will be there
- 14:08have you seen them play
- 14:09badminton and ping pong
- 14:11they move more than
- 14:11pickleball players
- 14:13fascinating I mean and then
- 14:17how high they throw the
- 14:19ball up to serve or the
- 14:20ping pong ball it's crazy I
- 14:24i would like to see added
- 14:27functional fitness would be interesting
- 14:32I mean,
- 14:32the IF3 has been trying to do that
- 14:36by creating like a
- 14:37standardized template to
- 14:41make functional fitness an Olympic sport.
- 14:45I'd like to see them.
- 14:46I know that's the boring answer,
- 14:48but it's what I'd like to see.
- 14:49And that's led by Gretchen Kittleberger,
- 14:57right?
- 14:58Mm-hmm.
- 15:03So, yeah, that'd be mine.
- 15:07Okay.
- 15:10Kat, you got one?
- 15:13Can't think of one.
- 15:17Go ahead.
- 15:19Is bocce ball?
- 15:21Is bocce ball in the Olympics?
- 15:22It probably was at one point in time.
- 15:25I like street bocce ball.
- 15:30We play it like in the
- 15:30neighborhood where it's just like, I mean,
- 15:33you can, it's anywhere.
- 15:35Yeah.
- 15:36Fair game.
- 15:37Yeah.
- 15:37We call it hillbilly bocce.
- 15:41Wherever you can throw the pin.
- 15:43Now you got to make it there.
- 15:45Yep.
- 15:50Chelsea Miller wants bull riding.
- 15:55That would be interesting.
- 15:56Lots of logistics there.
- 15:57Carolyn says,
- 15:58need more buy-in from game
- 16:00athletes from IF3.
- 16:01It needs to be more competitive.
- 16:07She's also surprised karate
- 16:09isn't in the Olympics.
- 16:10Taekwondo and judo are.
- 16:13Speaking of school, Carolyn,
- 16:15have you started back to school yet?
- 16:18I think Friday, she said.
- 16:19She does a mid-service day.
- 16:22Then everybody's back on
- 16:23Tuesday after the holiday.
- 16:24Okay.
- 16:24Which would actually be next week.
- 16:26Yes, next week.
- 16:29I watched your show on Sunday night.
- 16:36And I actually retained some
- 16:37of what I watched.
- 16:38Look at that.
- 16:43Yeah, I think Charlie wants slap fighting.
- 16:47That's what he's talking about.
- 16:49Oh, see?
- 16:49He just put it in there.
- 16:54You are like magnificent.
- 16:58Okay.
- 17:04Anything else going on with
- 17:05you guys before we hit the
- 17:07one piece of news that I
- 17:09saw that I do want to bring up?
- 17:12I just got to take a kid back to college,
- 17:16and that's it.
- 17:19Yeah, my kids are,
- 17:21one of my kids goes to
- 17:22college very close to home,
- 17:23so it's not like she's even leaving.
- 17:26And she technically moved
- 17:27into her apartment at the
- 17:28beginning of summer,
- 17:29just hasn't been sleeping there.
- 17:30Yeah.
- 17:31And my son went back last week,
- 17:33but I think he starts classes next week.
- 17:35He's got the most expensive
- 17:37apartment known to man,
- 17:39one bedroom furnished because he's fancy.
- 17:43He's bougie like that?
- 17:44And broke.
- 17:45So like how he does it, I have no idea.
- 17:47I don't know.
- 17:50It's annoying.
- 17:52But we do have some sad news.
- 17:54So I will break my sad news
- 17:55just because we should talk about it.
- 17:58On July 2nd,
- 17:59my golden retriever bumper died suddenly.
- 18:02He was nine years old,
- 18:03had like a cardiac event,
- 18:06tumor out near his heart exploded,
- 18:08internal bleeding.
- 18:09Like the whole family met at
- 18:11the emergency room and we
- 18:12had to put him down like within an hour.
- 18:15Super shocking.
- 18:16The kids were, you know,
- 18:17the kids were wrecked
- 18:18because he was their dog
- 18:20along with the other two
- 18:21dogs that they have living with them.
- 18:23And now the 13 year old dog
- 18:26is on his last legs.
- 18:28He collapsed on Sunday.
- 18:29I had to go rush home
- 18:31because Eliana was by
- 18:32herself and figure out what
- 18:33was wrong with him.
- 18:35He got blood work done yesterday.
- 18:36He is bleeding internally somewhere.
- 18:38We don't know where.
- 18:40He's like on his last,
- 18:42like we're on like the
- 18:44death watch with him.
- 18:45He's either going to, you know,
- 18:47he's having these episodes of like,
- 18:50wagging his tail playing
- 18:51with the toy eating frozen
- 18:53broccoli like he loves to
- 18:54do going outside and
- 18:54everything else and then
- 18:55you know and then he'll
- 18:56like lie down for 10 hours
- 18:57and we're just like
- 18:58watching him so um yeah it
- 19:01sucks um so we we will
- 19:04probably in the next week
- 19:05or two be down to jojo the
- 19:07one crazy dog that lives uh
- 19:09at my ex-husband's house
- 19:10and then the sheepadoodle
- 19:12that I have here that lives with me so
- 19:15went from four to two really fast.
- 19:17And it sucks.
- 19:18How close did you get those two dogs?
- 19:22Were they like,
- 19:22did you get them around the same time?
- 19:23We got them four years apart.
- 19:25So we had a golden retriever when,
- 19:28when we got dash and then
- 19:30that golden retriever died
- 19:31at the age of eight from
- 19:32some crazy cancer.
- 19:34And then dash, um, when dash was four,
- 19:36we got bumper.
- 19:38And then when bumper was four,
- 19:39we got Jojo.
- 19:40So it was like every four
- 19:41years we've gotten a dog.
- 19:43Um,
- 19:44And so when bumper died, like we were, we,
- 19:46we were expecting dash to
- 19:47die for dash is 13 bumper was nine.
- 19:50So they're obviously like
- 19:52four years apart.
- 19:53So yeah, they grew up together.
- 19:54So, uh,
- 19:56we've had dash ever since Eliana was,
- 19:58you know, a baby she's she's 19.
- 20:00Now she was like five when we,
- 20:02when we got her.
- 20:02So, and he's like the grumpy old man,
- 20:05Scott, you met him.
- 20:06He's like a terrier.
- 20:07He's all kind of disheveled.
- 20:08And on Friday I went to the
- 20:10house and I gave him a haircut.
- 20:12And I did so badly because
- 20:17the attachment that I used
- 20:18was like too short.
- 20:19And so he's got that hair
- 20:21that is like blonde at the
- 20:22base and black at the tip.
- 20:24And so if you don't cut it
- 20:25completely evenly,
- 20:26he looks like eight different colors.
- 20:28And I swear he looks homeless.
- 20:31Like he looks like he got
- 20:32ran over by a car,
- 20:33like just looking at him, his sides,
- 20:35he's got all these spots on
- 20:36them of like black and blonde hair.
- 20:38because I totally butchered
- 20:39his haircut and it was just on Friday.
- 20:40And then Sunday this happened.
- 20:42I was like,
- 20:44he's not even going to look
- 20:44cute for his last little few days.
- 20:48But yeah, everybody's really sad.
- 20:49It just sucks.
- 20:50Totally.
- 20:50I'm sorry.
- 20:53Well, thanks for bringing the show down.
- 20:56I'm sorry.
- 20:57I had to talk about it.
- 20:58It was on my heart.
- 20:58No, no.
- 21:00I know what they, what they mean to you.
- 21:02So.
- 21:04Yep.
- 21:07um corey with a joke uh so
- 21:10he looks like a boy band
- 21:11member for us exactly corey
- 21:15likes corey gets
- 21:16uncomfortable and makes
- 21:17jokes I think that's what
- 21:18it is I will post uh I'll
- 21:20post the video that eliana
- 21:22sent me last night of him
- 21:23playing with his squeaky
- 21:24toy on my instagram you can
- 21:25see what he looks like yeah
- 21:28it looks like spock yeah
- 21:32how long have you been
- 21:33doing this you have to read
- 21:35the comment out loud
- 21:37Oh, sorry.
- 21:37Shaming us on the podcast.
- 21:40I think it's unclear who's
- 21:42pressing the buttons too.
- 21:42I think that's why I was
- 21:43like waiting for someone
- 21:44maybe to else to do that.
- 21:45But I know I I'm allowed to
- 21:46do that too if I want.
- 21:47So I'll start doing that.
- 21:48Jake said, I cut my son's hair.
- 21:50Either it looks like Spock
- 21:52or Dave Hill from Slade.
- 21:54Slade is a metal band from Europe, right?
- 22:01See,
- 22:01you shouldn't eat broccoli or green
- 22:02things.
- 22:03Yeah.
- 22:04That's what Charlie said.
- 22:05Dash eats frozen broccoli.
- 22:06That's like his favorite
- 22:07thing in the world.
- 22:07You open up the freezer and
- 22:08he goes berserk.
- 22:12What was it?
- 22:15Yeah, from the 70s.
- 22:16I thought so.
- 22:19And then I cut Leia's hair
- 22:20over the weekend,
- 22:21but she's all matted on her legs,
- 22:23but not on her back.
- 22:24So I just cut kind of like
- 22:25her legs and her shoulder
- 22:26blades and blended the rest.
- 22:27And she looks like a
- 22:28character from CatDog.
- 22:31Like,
- 22:31I don't know if you guys know that
- 22:32cartoon, but she's super fluffy,
- 22:34like everywhere around her shoulders.
- 22:35And then she's got these
- 22:36tiny little stick legs.
- 22:39She looks ridiculous.
- 22:43All right.
- 22:43So one piece of CrossFit
- 22:45news we're going to talk about.
- 22:46What do you got?
- 22:49And that is,
- 22:49it went around our group chat.
- 22:52It is that CrossFit
- 22:55announced that they are
- 22:55doing a third-party investigation.
- 22:58And...
- 22:59John Woolley,
- 23:00who I think is trying to
- 23:02become the new Andrew Hiller,
- 23:06is getting very expose-ish
- 23:11with his Instagram and his YouTube,
- 23:14where he is commenting on
- 23:16what he sees wrong in the space.
- 23:19And he makes an excellent
- 23:20point with this one.
- 23:21He does.
- 23:22It's a very good point.
- 23:24So I'm going to share this.
- 23:27And hopefully I have it
- 23:28pretty much at the beginning.
- 23:33And I'll go ahead and play it around.
- 23:37Mr. Edge is this for me.
- 23:39He's worked the bulk of his
- 23:41career for the department
- 23:42of Homeland security and
- 23:43ice as a deputy director,
- 23:45the U S border patrol is
- 23:47the largest department in
- 23:48the department of Homeland security.
- 23:50again, where he was the director.
- 23:52This is notable because the
- 23:54United States border patrol
- 23:55has been a sponsor of the
- 23:56CrossFit games for the past two years.
- 23:59I mentioned earlier that a
- 24:00third party review needs to
- 24:01be above approach and unimpeachable.
- 24:04And the guy running the
- 24:05investigation has direct
- 24:06ties and relationships with the sponsor.
- 24:09Now,
- 24:10Does that make him unqualified or biased?
- 24:12No, not necessarily.
- 24:14Again, I don't know him.
- 24:15He may be the most honest
- 24:16person on the planet,
- 24:18but out of the hundreds of
- 24:19people in firms,
- 24:20you could have gotten to run this.
- 24:22You chose someone who is
- 24:23connected to CrossFit through a sponsor,
- 24:27and that raises a lot of eyebrows for me.
- 24:30You get the gist.
- 24:33Yeah.
- 24:34Go ahead.
- 24:36My initial reaction was,
- 24:39why can't you guys get out
- 24:41of your own way?
- 24:43Yeah.
- 24:48Yep.
- 24:48Why not consult with PFAA
- 24:51about... This has nothing
- 24:55to do with PFAA.
- 24:56Well, I know in his long one,
- 24:58he talks about that.
- 25:01They weren't consulted about,
- 25:03I'm just saying that would
- 25:03have been a good start to
- 25:04consult together about
- 25:07where it should like, okay,
- 25:10CrossFit looks, you know,
- 25:12maybe throw some names in the hat.
- 25:14Maybe PFAA does too.
- 25:15And then maybe they come to
- 25:17an agreed upon group that's
- 25:19going to do that investigation.
- 25:21Well,
- 25:21you think the investment firm that
- 25:23owns CrossFit would be able to provide
- 25:26lots of names of people to
- 25:28do an independent
- 25:29investigation that don't
- 25:30even know anything about CrossFit, right?
- 25:32I mean, that's kind of what you want,
- 25:33I would think.
- 25:37So this part of the thing I
- 25:39kind of agree with, with John, the PFAA,
- 25:42one I'm less inclined to believe,
- 25:44the PFAA is an association.
- 25:46It's not a union.
- 25:48they do not have an existing
- 25:50relationship or a
- 25:50contractual anything for
- 25:53them to go to them in this case.
- 25:56But my God can't how, like you said,
- 25:59there are hundreds of firms
- 26:01that you can choose from to
- 26:03get one guy that has no
- 26:05connection to what you do.
- 26:07And this is what you pick.
- 26:11Yeah.
- 26:14It's almost as if somebody
- 26:15came forward and said like, I'll do it.
- 26:20Here are my credentials.
- 26:22If you're a good company,
- 26:23and at this point,
- 26:25we're not talking about CrossFit HQ.
- 26:28We're talking about Berkshire,
- 26:31whoever's running the show
- 26:34from the investment firm.
- 26:40I have zero confidence going
- 26:42forward that these people
- 26:43can do anything when this
- 26:45is the stuff that they're doing now.
- 26:50I get what he was saying
- 26:51with the PFAA in the longer
- 26:53version of this if it was a union.
- 26:57But people have to remember the PFA,
- 27:00they could not get enough
- 27:02athletes to band together
- 27:04to make it a union, to stand up together.
- 27:07And that is the most
- 27:08difficult part of a sport
- 27:10that is more individual
- 27:12based than a team sport.
- 27:17That's why tennis and golf
- 27:19took longer to unionize
- 27:21than like football and baseball.
- 27:24That's interesting.
- 27:31Now, could you in good faith say, Hey,
- 27:34we want to take a
- 27:34collection of athletes and say,
- 27:37we want to do a third party
- 27:38investigation and want your input.
- 27:42Sure.
- 27:44That's what I'm saying.
- 27:45Then just involve the PFAA.
- 27:47Or oversight.
- 27:51I just think it would have
- 27:52been a good move for a lot of reasons.
- 28:01Who am I?
- 28:02I'm just a preschool teacher
- 28:03that's talking on a Clydesdale podcast.
- 28:09You have as much authority
- 28:11as anybody else who's talking right now.
- 28:17I just... I'm having a real
- 28:20hard problem with the PFAA right now.
- 28:22And I haven't said any of that publicly.
- 28:27Because I want to see more
- 28:28facts before I talk even more.
- 28:30But I did talk Sunday night
- 28:32about there's a lack of
- 28:33authenticity with some
- 28:34things going on that's really bugging me.
- 28:38And...
- 28:44i think that there's a an
- 28:45agenda push in a direction
- 28:48based on things that aren't
- 28:51related to a man's death
- 28:52but you're using his death
- 28:53to do it and I think that
- 28:59sucks I think the first
- 29:07thing you have to do is
- 29:08solve the problem of the
- 29:09man's death then once we do
- 29:11that then we can move on to
- 29:12the other stuff
- 29:16Yeah.
- 29:18But as is being said in the chat, you know,
- 29:21there were no concerns
- 29:22brought up about run swim.
- 29:26And for then for you to and
- 29:33then for you to use that
- 29:35and say there have been
- 29:36complaints forever and blah, blah, blah.
- 29:39Like, yeah.
- 29:46But again,
- 29:46I want more facts before I go
- 29:52too far into it.
- 29:53Yeah.
- 29:54OK.
- 29:54Yeah.
- 29:56Yeah, I find it's really hard to,
- 29:58it's even hard to process
- 30:00it all without knowing
- 30:01exactly what's going on.
- 30:03Like,
- 30:03it's hard to know how you're supposed
- 30:05to feel.
- 30:06And I think there's so many
- 30:07voices in our space that
- 30:09are taking stands.
- 30:12And I don't think that's wrong.
- 30:13Like, that's cool.
- 30:15with me, um,
- 30:17I just tend to be someone
- 30:18who's highly influenced by
- 30:20things that I hear and people that I see,
- 30:23especially people that I
- 30:23respect and care for and
- 30:25things like that.
- 30:26So I'm just, it's,
- 30:27I'm still struggling with
- 30:28all of it to sort of process it all.
- 30:31Not quite sure how I feel about, you know,
- 30:34the surrounding circumstances, obviously,
- 30:37you know, Lazar's death is,
- 30:38is the easy one to feel a
- 30:40certain way about,
- 30:42but it's just so complex.
- 30:46And I hear viewpoints from
- 30:48people that I didn't think
- 30:49of necessarily.
- 30:50And I'm thinking, oh, okay, well, yeah,
- 30:52I get it.
- 30:53You know,
- 30:53and then I hear something else
- 30:54that's completely to the
- 30:55contrary of what I just heard,
- 30:56where I said I get it.
- 30:57And I'm like, yeah, okay, I get it.
- 30:59It's just, it's hard for me to, I don't,
- 31:01I feel like I'm all over
- 31:02the place with my thoughts
- 31:04and feelings about it.
- 31:05Well,
- 31:05that's natural when there are no facts.
- 31:07Right.
- 31:08Well,
- 31:08I think that's what I was getting at.
- 31:10Like,
- 31:10it's really hard to say because it
- 31:12kind of, it's one of those things like,
- 31:14how do you feel?
- 31:14Well, it depends.
- 31:16You know, it depends.
- 31:18Yeah.
- 31:18And I don't know what it
- 31:19depends on yet because I
- 31:20don't know what that is, but it depends.
- 31:22Yeah.
- 31:23Yeah.
- 31:24So I just,
- 31:25I hope and pray that local
- 31:27authorities give us more
- 31:29facts because now after John put this out,
- 31:33I don't trust the third
- 31:34party investigation.
- 31:37Right.
- 31:42Right.
- 31:42And a man, an acquaintance of ours died.
- 31:48Right.
- 31:49And I was very sad about that.
- 31:52And it has lingered on for a week.
- 31:57And it's going to keep
- 31:58lingering on until we get
- 32:01some facts about what
- 32:02happened and some kind of
- 32:05resolution as to correcting
- 32:07whatever it was that caused that.
- 32:10If there isn't.
- 32:12But at least we'll know
- 32:13there was no resolution.
- 32:15Either way.
- 32:15Okay.
- 32:18And so, like,
- 32:19I think for us as a community to move on,
- 32:22we need facts and answers.
- 32:24And the problem is we just
- 32:25don't have any of them right now.
- 32:27Yeah.
- 32:28Yeah.
- 32:28You can't get closure is not
- 32:31the right word,
- 32:31but you can't get clarity
- 32:32around it when when there
- 32:34is no clarity around it.
- 32:38Right.
- 32:38Mm hmm.
- 32:41because you want to be mad.
- 32:42You want to be sad.
- 32:43You want to do all these
- 32:45things and you can't do any of it.
- 32:47You have no idea where to point it to.
- 33:00So I have a lot to say about
- 33:02a lot of things,
- 33:02but I want facts to come
- 33:03out before I say them.
- 33:06Yeah.
- 33:08Yeah.
- 33:08And that's hard too,
- 33:09because we like to talk about things.
- 33:11That's what we do.
- 33:12Very hard not to talk.
- 33:14Yeah.
- 33:15But I think that that is the
- 33:16best way to handle it right now.
- 33:19Yeah.
- 33:19Because I mean, even,
- 33:20even today we're struggling
- 33:21for like content.
- 33:22It's like, so what's going on?
- 33:24Like, oh, well, my dog is sick.
- 33:26Like,
- 33:27I don't want to backtrack what I said
- 33:29a week ago, like spend done.
- 33:32Right.
- 33:32Come out and all of a sudden, woo.
- 33:34Well, I didn't really mean that.
- 33:36I meant this.
- 33:38Sure.
- 33:40Yeah, it's hard.
- 33:41I mean,
- 33:41I will say that I've been paying a
- 33:43lot more attention to
- 33:44Instagram and YouTube than
- 33:46I was a month ago.
- 33:48I've paid less attention.
- 33:50I agree.
- 33:50I've actually really tried
- 33:52to be not involved in it
- 33:54because of what you're saying earlier.
- 33:55I feel like it's influencing
- 33:57my feelings on things,
- 34:00and I don't want it to
- 34:01because I want to know more.
- 34:03you know, more facts.
- 34:05Yeah.
- 34:05Yeah.
- 34:06And I think for me, it's just,
- 34:07I'm searching for information.
- 34:08I get that.
- 34:09And it's not like, yeah,
- 34:11it's not the information that I,
- 34:12that I need or want necessarily, but it's,
- 34:14I also think it's, you know,
- 34:15I hadn't really been too
- 34:17involved in the space prior
- 34:18to me going to the games
- 34:19and knowing I was going to the games,
- 34:20I sort of started to get back into it,
- 34:22you know, and, and now, you know,
- 34:24as a true diehard that I am like,
- 34:27I'm in it, I'm back in it.
- 34:29Yeah.
- 34:29Yeah.
- 34:31So I want to leave with just
- 34:32two quick things.
- 34:32And that is,
- 34:35One of the byproducts of
- 34:38this whole thing is that I
- 34:40took some of the best
- 34:41pictures I've ever taken in my life.
- 34:44And I don't feel like I can
- 34:46post any of them.
- 34:47Right?
- 34:50So what I've kind of done in
- 34:51the background is...
- 34:53I've contacted athletes that
- 34:54are friends of mine and I've said,
- 34:55you know what?
- 34:57They're yours.
- 34:58I'm just going to,
- 34:59I'll edit them and you can
- 35:01have them no cost, no nothing.
- 35:04But,
- 35:05and then if you feel okay with doing
- 35:07that or not, that's your choice.
- 35:11But I just didn't want them
- 35:13to go to waste.
- 35:14Yeah.
- 35:16Um, but then I would,
- 35:19so one of those people is Bethany.
- 35:21Yeah.
- 35:21Um,
- 35:23And after talking to her,
- 35:25I went and looked at her YouTube,
- 35:28which part one at the games.
- 35:31If you have not watched that.
- 35:32Okay.
- 35:34It is one of the most
- 35:35beautiful pieces of content
- 35:38in such a lovely tribute to Lazar.
- 35:42I highly recommend it.
- 35:45Caught a cat.
- 35:46It is real.
- 35:47It is raw.
- 35:49Like have a box of tissues beside you.
- 35:51I know.
- 35:53But that's just part one,
- 35:53part two still to come.
- 35:57Um, it is, it is really,
- 36:00I'm like tearing up just
- 36:01thinking about it because
- 36:04she was in the ice tub when
- 36:06the search started and the
- 36:09video captures like her
- 36:11reaction to it all.
- 36:13Oh, wow.
- 36:14That's raw.
- 36:17I have a funny Lazar story.
- 36:18Can I,
- 36:18I want to try to bring one up once a
- 36:20week as we, as we meet.
- 36:22Um,
- 36:22so I was going through my DMS again
- 36:24from Instagram and I don't
- 36:26know if you guys remember, but the,
- 36:28one of the times that we
- 36:29had him on prior to the games,
- 36:31he was also going on the seven podcasts.
- 36:34And it was like the same day or like maybe,
- 36:37you know,
- 36:37hours later or something like that.
- 36:39And I was sort of giving him
- 36:40shit about it.
- 36:42And I said something like, you know, well,
- 36:44ours is better than Savant's podcast.
- 36:48And he said, he said something like, oh,
- 36:50it's so hard.
- 36:51It's like picking your favorite child.
- 36:53He's like, you both are awesome.
- 36:56Yeah.
- 37:00And I,
- 37:00I screenshot and I sent a seven too.
- 37:02Cause I, you know, it was just funny.
- 37:03He was like, Oh, thanks.
- 37:04That was cool.
- 37:05Yeah.
- 37:08I could just hear him in his voice too.
- 37:09Like saying it, you know,
- 37:10if he was speaking it.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:12I can't pick, pick your favorite child.
- 37:15Yeah.
- 37:16Oh, I love that.
- 37:18My lap.
- 37:19Well, I'll do a memory too.
- 37:20I can't remember talking to
- 37:21him where he wasn't
- 37:22laughing while he was talking.
- 37:24Yeah.
- 37:25The only time I can.
- 37:27Yeah.
- 37:27A giggle.
- 37:28The only time I can remember
- 37:30is when I was in the pit
- 37:31and he was getting no rep
- 37:33on his facing handstand pushups.
- 37:37And he was so mad and
- 37:39spitting on his judge,
- 37:41not like intentionally spitting,
- 37:43but screaming so loud,
- 37:44like stuff is coming out at his judge.
- 37:49And, uh,
- 37:51But that showed, like, that he could be,
- 37:54he was funny and giggly and
- 37:56all that all the time.
- 37:58But when it came to, like,
- 37:59getting on the floor and going, like,
- 38:01it meant so much to him.
- 38:03It's because he was a passionate person.
- 38:05I mean, yeah.
- 38:06That's what you get.
- 38:07In all the things.
- 38:08Yeah, right.
- 38:08In all the things.
- 38:09Yeah, he's a competitor.
- 38:12Yeah.
- 38:14Yeah, I probably,
- 38:14I was taking pictures at the time.
- 38:17So I need to go back to that
- 38:19year and see if I can find those.
- 38:21I need to go back and see if
- 38:22I have any video.
- 38:23So yeah,
- 38:24that's what I reposted it the other day.
- 38:28because I had forgotten I
- 38:29had taken that picture.
- 38:31And then I saw that somebody
- 38:32liked a photo and I was like from 2021,
- 38:34what the heck?
- 38:35And I go and I look,
- 38:36so somebody must've just
- 38:37looked up Lazar or whatever.
- 38:39This reminded me.
- 38:40And I remember taking that
- 38:41picture and he was walking off the,
- 38:43the Coliseum and we were like, great job.
- 38:46And he like smiled and waved at us.
- 38:48And I was like, yeah.
- 38:49Yeah.
- 38:49I mean that he was,
- 38:50he was looking at us when
- 38:51you took that picture.
- 38:52It wasn't like he was.
- 38:54Yeah.
- 38:54That's cool.
- 38:55Well,
- 38:55that's the same year he was doing
- 38:56pull-ups off the railing.
- 38:58Yes.
- 38:58Right in front of you guys.
- 39:00Yeah.
- 39:00Right.
