- 0:03Registration for the twenty twenty six
- 0:05CrossFit Open is live.
- 0:18I love the chase and the hunt and
- 0:20I set the pace when I'm running.
- 0:21I always take what I want and I
- 0:23always give it one hundred.
- 0:24Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.
- 0:26Play the game like it's nothing.
- 0:27I'm always thankful for something.
- 0:29Don't take for granted, stay humble.
- 0:30Now wake up!
- 0:32It's time to look at the enemy.
- 0:34Look in the mirror if he is no
- 0:36friend to me.
- 0:37It's not working out,
- 0:38maybe it's the chemistry.
- 0:40It's time to break up so I can
- 0:42make a better man.
- 0:47It's lunch time.
- 0:49What is going on, everybody?
- 0:51Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:53Good to see everyone here today.
- 0:58Apparently,
- 0:59Corey forgot he had an appointment today.
- 1:01He said he was going to be here.
- 1:02That's why he's not.
- 1:04So we'll miss him,
- 1:05but we'll go ahead and get this show
- 1:07on the road.
- 1:09Today is the official registration sign-up
- 1:13day of the first day of the sign-ups
- 1:15for the
- 1:19And it is today.
- 1:21It was at noon Eastern time today.
- 1:24And I actually got on this morning tried
- 1:27to sign up before the show was not
- 1:31able to little nitpick if you say it's
- 1:34going to be open on the fourteenth.
- 1:36probably should have done it like at
- 1:38midnight.
- 1:40Um, so that when people got up,
- 1:41they weren't discouraged when they tried
- 1:43to log on and sign up and they
- 1:45couldn't, uh, I guess it's live now.
- 1:47They went live at noon.
- 1:49Um, so yeah, but other than that,
- 1:53we are live people.
- 1:53Hopefully, um,
- 1:57uh hopefully we can get a higher sign
- 2:01up this year than last year uh it's
- 2:05the best it's the best twenty dollars you
- 2:06can spend truly truly is uh i've had
- 2:10so many fun times during the open and
- 2:13it's worth every penny of that twenty
- 2:14dollars um uh jay birch i don't care
- 2:21about the other side of the world
- 2:25I'm just – CrossFit is really an American
- 2:28sport right now.
- 2:32Let the WFP focus on Europe and the
- 2:34world.
- 2:36I know that there are participants from
- 2:38around the world,
- 2:38and I'm not discrediting that.
- 2:41But we are centric to the U.S.
- 2:44That is where the most affiliates are.
- 2:46That's where the most participants in the
- 2:47Open are.
- 2:49And so a lot of the marketing should
- 2:50be geared to that, in my opinion.
- 2:53So –
- 2:56So there we are.
- 2:58He's cheating.
- 2:58He was on the Savant podcast chat.
- 3:01Yeah,
- 3:01but you can do that from the waiting
- 3:03room with a doctor.
- 3:03I've done it in the past.
- 3:06Just saying.
- 3:08We've got Lana already signed up.
- 3:11We've got Joseph Ramirez already signed
- 3:17up.
- 3:19And he's here.
- 3:20I am.
- 3:21Sorry, I'm late.
- 3:23Hopefully your eyes aren't dilated and you
- 3:25can actually see.
- 3:26They were.
- 3:28So fun fact, I found out this morning,
- 3:31you can have your eyes undilated after
- 3:33they dilate them.
- 3:36Did not know that before.
- 3:37So it had been...
- 3:41Two years since they actually dilated my
- 3:42eyes.
- 3:43And so, so fun fact,
- 3:46my eye doctor is a very good friend
- 3:47of mine.
- 3:48I played soccer with him for six,
- 3:50seven years, something like that.
- 3:52Um, so Dave was like, uh,
- 3:54I need to dilate your eyes.
- 3:55I was like, whatever, let's go.
- 3:57And I,
- 3:57there's this sign up on the wall says,
- 4:01ask your eye doctor about undilating your
- 4:03eyes.
- 4:04And I was like, oh, okay.
- 4:05I didn't even know that was an option.
- 4:09It is, it works.
- 4:13Um, yeah, I didn't know that.
- 4:15I always struggled to get my sunglasses on
- 4:18to get to the car.
- 4:20Um,
- 4:21I love the challenge of feel like I'm
- 4:24an F one racer coming home with everything
- 4:26so big and bright on the way.
- 4:30And it never fails that it was cloudy
- 4:32when I walked into the office and it
- 4:34was beautiful, bright,
- 4:36sunshiny day whenever I left.
- 4:38So, but it actually works.
- 4:40So I'm pretty excited about that.
- 4:43Cool.
- 4:45I didn't know.
- 4:51There's people chatting.
- 4:52I don't know what they're talking about.
- 4:53Okay.
- 4:54Glad you could be here.
- 4:57Open registration is up.
- 4:58I tried to sign up this morning.
- 4:59I couldn't.
- 5:00I will sign up now after this show.
- 5:04And yeah.
- 5:06so that happens today we also have the
- 5:10wfp that released their season schedule
- 5:13yesterday and lots of cool changes um so
- 5:21i i don't want this just to be
- 5:22a smear a schmear campaign
- 5:27I think they made some relevant changes
- 5:29that we've actually discussed on the
- 5:31Sunday night show for sure.
- 5:33Jamie was a big proponent in using raw
- 5:36score throughout the season just because
- 5:39it's easier to explain the season then
- 5:42because you earn this many points here,
- 5:45this many points here.
- 5:46They carry over.
- 5:47Person with the most points at the end
- 5:49wins.
- 5:50Way easier to explain than you took first
- 5:53here, so here's the points given, blah,
- 5:55blah, blah.
- 5:58she actually did a full spreadsheet of
- 6:00every score raw versus assigned and it
- 6:04doesn't even really change the leaderboard
- 6:07at all but it just makes it easier
- 6:09to understand yeah for people who are used
- 6:12to looking at scores in that manner hey
- 6:15this is how many points you got yeah
- 6:20so that was a good move they did
- 6:24not go to the fourth tour stop
- 6:26Saw that.
- 6:28Sticking with two actual tour stops and a
- 6:31finals.
- 6:33They changed the fact that pro cards don't
- 6:35get an automatic bid to the finals.
- 6:38Oh, I missed that part of it.
- 6:39Okay.
- 6:40So if you were one of the twenty
- 6:42pro card holders, unlike last year,
- 6:45you could have skipped tour stop one tour
- 6:47stop two.
- 6:48You still got to go to Copenhagen because
- 6:50you had a pro card this year.
- 6:52That is not the case.
- 6:54So if you don't get it,
- 6:57if you are not in the top thirty
- 6:59points wise going to the finals,
- 7:01you do not get to go regardless of
- 7:03pro card or not.
- 7:05Good.
- 7:05That makes sense.
- 7:08They are keeping the participants to
- 7:10fifty, but they're all pros this year.
- 7:14There is no challenge or division.
- 7:16So the fifty that go will all be
- 7:19in the same division,
- 7:21and you will all compete for the same
- 7:23kind of points.
- 7:25That's a lot of people.
- 7:26It is.
- 7:28I'm not a fan of that move.
- 7:32I think watching ten heats of an event
- 7:36is tough.
- 7:38And that's just like what so that you
- 7:41the men do ten heat or five.
- 7:43Yeah, five heats.
- 7:44Women do five heats.
- 7:45That's ten heats of the same event.
- 7:47That seems a little bit rough.
- 7:50It's overkill.
- 7:52It's overkill.
- 7:53It's watering down the competition at that
- 7:54point, in my opinion,
- 7:56because you're going to have your top ten,
- 7:58fifteen, whatever,
- 7:59that are actually fighting for points.
- 8:00And it is going to be a bunch
- 8:01of other people there.
- 8:04Yeah, I think thirty is a good number.
- 8:06So and they're they're only taking thirty
- 8:08to Copenhagen.
- 8:09But tour stops one and two,
- 8:10they're doing fifty each.
- 8:14I wonder if they are hedging because of
- 8:17the withdrawals of last year to make sure
- 8:19they have enough participants to backfill
- 8:22in case that happens.
- 8:24I would say probably a little bit of
- 8:26that and a little bit of if somebody
- 8:28just shows up and they are holy shit
- 8:31fit.
- 8:33And instead of just, hey,
- 8:34this is the top-thirty,
- 8:35this is the top-fifty,
- 8:36and we're only taking thirty,
- 8:38you give people in that lower part,
- 8:40lower half of that,
- 8:41a little bit of an opportunity to make
- 8:43it to the top-thirty and have their
- 8:45opportunity to get to the finals.
- 8:48So I still think fifty is a lot.
- 8:49So this is the other big switch,
- 8:54and that is the twenty with the pro
- 8:56card go to tour stop one and two.
- 8:59And then there's a qualifier to get in
- 9:02to that as well.
- 9:04Just like last year.
- 9:05So,
- 9:06twenty pro card members are automatically
- 9:08in tour one and two.
- 9:10There's a qualifier to then become the
- 9:12other group.
- 9:13Plus,
- 9:14they've added in and I have this up
- 9:16on my screen just to make sure I
- 9:18don't get it wrong.
- 9:20It'll be a fifty athlete field.
- 9:21It'll be comprised of the twenty twenty
- 9:23six sign pros.
- 9:25Those are the twenty WFP finals finishers.
- 9:31That part I don't get yet.
- 9:32Yeah, I don't know what that is,
- 9:33but okay.
- 9:35Up to five invited athletes and a minimum
- 9:40of fifteen athletes from the online
- 9:42qualifier.
- 9:43Hold on,
- 9:44let me go check my email to see
- 9:45if I got an invite.
- 9:49So you got the twenty,
- 9:50you got the fifteen from the qualifier.
- 9:52That's thirty-five.
- 9:54You've got five invitees.
- 9:58And you're saying ten people who went to
- 10:00Copenhagen get automatic bid to these
- 10:04events because they finished?
- 10:09So essentially they're saying the ten that
- 10:11didn't get a pro card but went and
- 10:13finished the finals don't have to do the
- 10:17qualifiers this year.
- 10:20I'm talking it all out loud because I
- 10:22just read this and I,
- 10:23that's what it's saying.
- 10:25If you finished Copenhagen,
- 10:28you don't have to do the qualifier this
- 10:30year for any of the events.
- 10:33So is that them rewarding the people who
- 10:35stuck with them and showed up at
- 10:37Copenhagen and saying, Hey,
- 10:38thank you for coming.
- 10:39You know,
- 10:40and if you want to participate again next
- 10:42year, you don't have to do the qualifier.
- 10:43Yeah.
- 10:49I still don't know how I feel about
- 10:50that.
- 10:50I don't.
- 10:52Here's my thing.
- 10:53We're doing stuff like that is that now
- 10:55you're inviting people.
- 10:56You don't know if they're going to
- 10:58participate or not.
- 10:59You're rewarding for first showing up last
- 11:01year and that's cool,
- 11:02but you don't know what their fitness
- 11:03level is going to look like whenever your
- 11:05thing starts.
- 11:08That's my problem with just inviting
- 11:10people like, oh, you showed up last year,
- 11:11cool.
- 11:12Maybe you got injured in the meantime.
- 11:14Maybe you stopped competing for whatever
- 11:16reason.
- 11:16You had family, I mean,
- 11:18seasons of life type stuff.
- 11:20And so now what,
- 11:21if those people don't decide to decline,
- 11:25Do you just not backfill down that list?
- 11:30There's only so many.
- 11:31There is no more lists.
- 11:31There was only thirty athletes at
- 11:33Copenhagen.
- 11:34Twenty of them are pro card,
- 11:35ten are the other.
- 11:36But you would go from the fifteen
- 11:39qualifiers to eighteen qualifiers or
- 11:42twenty qualifiers.
- 11:45Yeah.
- 11:48Treadnought actually makes a good point.
- 11:49Actual finishes in a live comp are better
- 11:51than online qualifiers.
- 11:53I agree.
- 11:55And then Eric Mackey did correct me.
- 11:57This is just for the first tour stop.
- 11:59This is how they are filling the first
- 12:01tour stop.
- 12:03And that's the case that that makes sense
- 12:04because then that's just,
- 12:06this is how we're going from there.
- 12:07And then from tour stop one to two,
- 12:10and then the finals,
- 12:11we're just going to go on our point
- 12:13system.
- 12:13And like, if you made it in here,
- 12:14cool.
- 12:15But from what I saw,
- 12:16there was a qualifier for tour stop two
- 12:18and another qualifier for the finals that
- 12:21I don't understand.
- 12:26Sean in Oregon it's like inviting the two
- 12:28teams that played in the Super Bowl last
- 12:29year the right to go straight to the
- 12:31playoffs next year yeah it's I don't know
- 12:40what I find interesting is and again I'm
- 12:44not intending this to be a smear campaign
- 12:46at all we've done enough of that and
- 12:50I do think they made some steps in
- 12:51the right direction to correct some things
- 12:54from last year
- 12:55But it seems like, my God,
- 12:59you had so many withdrawals last year and
- 13:00you're trying to fill a fifty person field
- 13:03just seems aggressive.
- 13:07And they they tout that they didn't like
- 13:11the inconsistency of the game season that
- 13:13every year it changed.
- 13:15And here we are,
- 13:16season two of the WFP,
- 13:18some pretty substantial changes.
- 13:21I wouldn't say wildly different,
- 13:23but definitely substantial changes.
- 13:25Yeah.
- 13:26Yeah.
- 13:27I mean, you got three stops,
- 13:29but now your point system is different.
- 13:32Your qualification system is different.
- 13:33You did away with an entire division in
- 13:36the Challenger division.
- 13:38So...
- 13:42mean can we say wildly different i mean
- 13:44i would say that's that's pretty close
- 13:46right same basic structure one two three
- 13:50and three with three being the final but
- 13:51different ways to get there different
- 13:54people that you're inviting different like
- 13:57you again trying not to repeat myself but
- 14:00you just did away with an entire division
- 14:03well it's like they said okay we have
- 14:05these top end athletes that withdrew last
- 14:07year and we don't want to lose them
- 14:08forever
- 14:10So how can we create loopholes to get
- 14:13them back into the mix if they want
- 14:15to come back?
- 14:16So we add five invitees.
- 14:19And then someone in here put Luca rule
- 14:22for the ten that finished.
- 14:24But while I see what they're saying with
- 14:27the Luca rule, I think it's more that,
- 14:30hey, all these people dogged us last year,
- 14:32and you guys chose to come and compete,
- 14:34and we want to reward you for doing
- 14:36that.
- 14:37Yeah, that's how I'm looking at it.
- 14:38Like, hey,
- 14:39thanks for coming because y'all showed up,
- 14:41you know,
- 14:43didn't just blow us off because it was
- 14:45Christmas time or whatever.
- 14:48If you want to show up,
- 14:49you can show up.
- 14:50Here's your invitation.
- 14:51You don't have to do anything else.
- 14:53Right.
- 14:53And then if you want Jason Hopper to
- 14:55come back and he's willing to,
- 14:57you want to have that ability to have
- 14:58a wildcard invite.
- 15:00So you add that to the mix.
- 15:02And there's a big list of people they
- 15:04could invite, like Jay Crouch.
- 15:06I was just picking a name as an
- 15:07example.
- 15:08Right, right, right.
- 15:13It's an interesting choice.
- 15:14I don't know if I necessarily agree with
- 15:16it.
- 15:16I don't like the...
- 15:20whoever it was that said, you know,
- 15:21it's like inviting the people who won a
- 15:23Super Bowl straight to playoffs last year.
- 15:25There's some other competitions that I've
- 15:27been a part of that do the same
- 15:28thing.
- 15:28If you finished on their podium last year,
- 15:31you might get an invite.
- 15:32And for that particular competition,
- 15:35it can knock other people who qualified
- 15:38out of a qualifying spot,
- 15:40even though those people didn't actually
- 15:41do the qualifier.
- 15:43And instead of having a list of twenty
- 15:45people,
- 15:46now you really and truly have a list
- 15:48of seventeen or maybe fifteen,
- 15:51depending on if you're going to invite
- 15:53some other people just randomly.
- 15:55Instead of expanding that number and
- 15:56going,
- 15:57these are twenty people that qualified
- 15:59through our qualifier.
- 16:01If these other people want to come,
- 16:03we're going to go from a twenty man
- 16:04field to a twenty three man field or
- 16:07twenty five, whatever the case may be.
- 16:08And then we're going to invite these other
- 16:10we might invite these other people.
- 16:11And if they had they say they're coming,
- 16:13then we're just going to add to that
- 16:15instead of knocking the people down who
- 16:17did the qualifier.
- 16:18Well,
- 16:19I don't think they're knocking the people
- 16:20down who did the qualifier because they're
- 16:21saying fifteen.
- 16:23And then if we'll turn them down for
- 16:25the other invitations,
- 16:27then they'll grow the qualification field.
- 16:32I'm cool with that,
- 16:32unlike your experience with MFC last year
- 16:36where they said twenty and then they
- 16:38reduced the qualifiers down after the fact
- 16:41and you got the boot because they changed
- 16:44their mind.
- 16:46I'm cool with WFP saying, hey,
- 16:47we're going with fifteen and that's the
- 16:49floor.
- 16:52If you finish seventeenth,
- 16:53you may have a shot if we can't
- 16:55invite five people.
- 16:58As long as they're being transparent up
- 16:59front,
- 17:01I'm much cooler with it than what happened
- 17:03to you last year.
- 17:04It makes a whole lot more sense at
- 17:06that point.
- 17:08It makes a whole lot more sense.
- 17:12We invited John Cena,
- 17:14but we can't see him.
- 17:18Ask NFL players about their experience
- 17:20with Mexico games.
- 17:22I don't need to ask.
- 17:23I've seen it.
- 17:23Yeah.
- 17:28I get it.
- 17:29Mexico City is like one of the biggest
- 17:30cities on the face of the planet.
- 17:32And I would like to,
- 17:34if I knew I was kidnapped and or
- 17:36murdered, I'd visit Mexico City.
- 17:38Having said that,
- 17:39I do not want to go and do
- 17:41a CrossFit competition on top of the
- 17:44world.
- 17:44They'd just soon be on top of Mount
- 17:45Everest at that point.
- 17:47Yeah, I think that...
- 17:53I think that what the NFL experienced was
- 17:56bad facilities, bad turf,
- 18:00all of that kind of stuff.
- 18:02I think an indoor venue that they're going
- 18:04to use probably isn't going to experience
- 18:05that.
- 18:06They're probably going to bring in their
- 18:07own flooring, their own rig.
- 18:09They're not going to encounter the things
- 18:11that the NFL did when they went to
- 18:13Mexico.
- 18:14But they keep going back.
- 18:17So ticket sales drive...
- 18:21everything i would say at the the it's
- 18:25more it's less the facilities at that
- 18:27point than it is the altitude is really
- 18:32the the biggest thing that people are
- 18:33probably talking about just being at fifty
- 18:35two hundred feet above sea level air is
- 18:38not the same it's not the same as
- 18:40where you and i are i mean they
- 18:42held an olympics there and it was it
- 18:44made a dramatic effect right so five
- 18:46percent
- 18:49Yeah.
- 18:50And then we cross local hires,
- 18:51air quality and water.
- 18:56Yeah.
- 18:57And logistics of getting the equipment to
- 19:00the venue.
- 19:03Without it being kidnapped or set on fire
- 19:06or whatever.
- 19:07It's got one of the highest crime rates
- 19:08also on the face of the planet.
- 19:10So yeah.
- 19:16Wayne Short makes a great point.
- 19:17Invitees leave room for those that skip
- 19:19tour stop one and fail to qualify for
- 19:21the games.
- 19:22Just remember, though,
- 19:23that what I just explained to you as
- 19:25the criteria to get into tour stop,
- 19:28into these tour stops,
- 19:28this is only for tour stop one.
- 19:30Yeah.
- 19:32We don't know what tour stop two is
- 19:34going to be.
- 19:40Hey, you know what?
- 19:41Good on him.
- 19:43Again,
- 19:44nobody on this show nobody in this space
- 19:47that as far as i can tell is
- 19:49wishing for them to fail not at all
- 19:55right if people see high-end athletes
- 19:57doing functional fitness moves and it
- 19:59somehow drives that person to get up off
- 20:01their couch and go join an affiliate or
- 20:03just start moving in general so much the
- 20:06better but our biggest problem is was and
- 20:10probably still will be is a whole lot
- 20:13of this
- 20:15and not a lot of doing.
- 20:18That was the whole problem, right?
- 20:19We're gonna do it better.
- 20:20We're gonna do it bigger.
- 20:21We're gonna do it better.
- 20:22We're gonna do it bigger.
- 20:22We're gonna do it better.
- 20:23And then it turned out it wasn't.
- 20:27That's it.
- 20:27But again, this is not a smear campaign.
- 20:30This is a, Hey, they've done,
- 20:33they've done some nice correcting to the
- 20:36court of, of everything.
- 20:39Yep.
- 20:40Now we're nitpicking some things.
- 20:42So I, you know, Yeah.
- 20:48From at least looking in the mirror and
- 20:49making some changes.
- 20:51Correct.
- 20:51Good on them.
- 20:52We would nitpick the exact same things for
- 20:53the games.
- 20:55and have been so uh our last smear
- 21:03is everything bagel double cream cheese i
- 21:06am not against an everything bagel big fan
- 21:08as a matter of fact i'm actually i
- 21:10i know that there are some down parts
- 21:13about mexico city but i'm anxious to see
- 21:15what the crowd is like for a cross
- 21:17event in mexico city
- 21:18We've gone to Brazil,
- 21:21like Copa Sour and all of that kind
- 21:23of stuff.
- 21:24I'm actually anxious to see what turns out
- 21:26in Mexico City.
- 21:28If the place is jam-packed full,
- 21:31that's an interesting data point, right?
- 21:34Yeah, good on them.
- 21:35Yeah.
- 21:36So in that realm,
- 21:38I think that's going to be fascinating to
- 21:40see what happens.
- 21:43Good on them.
- 21:45Again, wishing them nothing but the best.
- 21:49And, yeah.
- 21:50And then the last thing I wanted to
- 21:52talk about on this whole front is the
- 21:55Barbell Spin did a great job putting
- 21:57together the calendar for the year with
- 22:04both WFP and...
- 22:08games so the other the one thing and
- 22:11this isn't even wfp related just
- 22:13everything that happens before the open
- 22:15actually starts you have norcal qualifiers
- 22:18lat am qualifiers mad fitness qualifiers
- 22:22french throwdown qualifiers uh copasor
- 22:25qualifier far east throwdown qualifier and
- 22:29then you have the wfp tour stop one
- 22:30qualifier rebel renegade games qualifier
- 22:34All before the open.
- 22:36And then the open.
- 22:37And then the open.
- 22:40Isn't that insane?
- 22:42That is bananas crazy, dude.
- 22:43That is absolutely bananas crazy.
- 22:45As a matter of fact,
- 22:47I was on my way back to the
- 22:48office.
- 22:48I was talking to one of my partners
- 22:51and we were trying to plan out what
- 22:52we wanted to do for our competitions this
- 22:55year.
- 22:56And my big overarching thing right now is
- 22:58to be able to finish quarterfinals high
- 23:00enough to...
- 23:02know qualified to be able to compete in
- 23:05person at semifinals and that's before
- 23:09anything else but before that there's two
- 23:11separate qualifiers one is for monster
- 23:15games and one is for uh
- 23:20Oh Lord.
- 23:21The other, the regular magic city games,
- 23:23not the,
- 23:24not the semifinal that both start like in
- 23:27within the next couple of weeks.
- 23:29So like,
- 23:29I'm going to be doing those also training
- 23:31for the open,
- 23:32also looking at possible semifinal.
- 23:34Like it's not completely backwards,
- 23:37but it's a little,
- 23:39it's something that is for certain.
- 23:42So the other place where WFP fits in
- 23:45are you have WFP tour stop one,
- 23:48the same weekend as Copas or far East
- 23:51and the magic city games.
- 23:56Tour stop two is three weeks after the
- 24:01games again, or four weeks, maybe.
- 24:07And we heard some of the top end
- 24:09athletes say that they actually were
- 24:11really tired at that tour stop to last
- 24:14year, right after the games.
- 24:16And again, it looks like December, the,
- 24:19the is the co is the Copenhagen games.
- 24:23At least it's like a full week before
- 24:25Christmas almost.
- 24:28So, um,
- 24:31But yeah, jam-packed schedule.
- 24:34And I see people in here saying there's
- 24:35better calendars online, and there may be.
- 24:37But this one just kind of shows you
- 24:39there's just a lot.
- 24:41There's a lot to manage through.
- 24:44If you want to be a competitive athlete
- 24:46through this season,
- 24:48it's going to take some planning.
- 24:51And really sitting down and determining
- 24:53what your priority is and how you want
- 24:57it to be.
- 24:59The NorCal Classic qualifiers are online
- 25:02or happening right now, FYI.
- 25:06That's another one that's already taken
- 25:08place.
- 25:09Yeah.
- 25:10So it's crazy.
- 25:13Anyway, we wanted more opportunity.
- 25:16We're getting lots of opportunity.
- 25:19Let's see how it plays out this year.
- 25:21I am planning,
- 25:24planning on going to Indianapolis this
- 25:25year to see tour stop too,
- 25:27just because I want to see it.
- 25:30it's not far right now it's two hours
- 25:33two and a half hours for me yeah
- 25:35um to go to that so um i'll
- 25:38probably head over it's the end of august
- 25:40i don't generally have a lot going on
- 25:42at that point in time so and hopefully
- 25:45medically me and my wife are good after
- 25:48january this year and uh and that'll
- 25:51that'll be something we can do so
- 26:02Your parents caught you with a CrossFit
- 26:04cigarette,
- 26:04so here's a whole pack of CrossFit.
- 26:07Oh, you want CrossFit?
- 26:08I'm going to give you some CrossFit.
- 26:11Yeah.
- 26:12Awesome.
- 26:14Yeah, I like that.
- 26:15I want to make sure we shout out
- 26:16our sponsor, Thirdsy.
- 26:18Make sure you go to thirdsy.com backslash
- 26:20Jazzy.
- 26:21J-A-Z-Z-Y, Jazzy.
- 26:24That gets you fifteen percent off your
- 26:26order.
- 26:28Dude,
- 26:29I'm now becoming addicted to the stuff.
- 26:31Not literally, but like, man,
- 26:34the sleep I get with that and when
- 26:35I don't take it is so much different.
- 26:39It's night and day.
- 26:42It's a night and day.
- 26:43And now I need my,
- 26:44if I don't drink the liquid at night,
- 26:46now I get dehydrated.
- 26:47Like my mouth is all dry,
- 26:49like through a.m.
- 26:50And I'm looking for something to drink.
- 26:52Um, God is going on.
- 26:57Uh,
- 26:58so I love what it does for my
- 26:59sleep.
- 27:00I love that.
- 27:00I wake up refreshed in the morning.
- 27:02Um,
- 27:03I used to fall asleep at my desk.
- 27:05I don't do that anymore.
- 27:07And thank God, cause I need this job,
- 27:09um, to pay the bills.
- 27:11As it turns out, yeah.
- 27:14No, dude, same, same.
- 27:16My measurables are up,
- 27:18and it's the only thing that I've done
- 27:20different is started taking that every
- 27:22single night.
- 27:23So shout out to Thirdsy.
- 27:24Go get some.
- 27:25Use code Jazzy.
- 27:27Thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy.
- 27:34What happens if something wakes you
- 27:35mid-sleep?
- 27:35You okay?
- 27:36Yeah.
- 27:37I get up.
- 27:38I'm old.
- 27:40So I have to pee in the middle
- 27:41of the night, regardless of what I do.
- 27:43So I get up, I pee.
- 27:44I try to do it with my eyes
- 27:46closed.
- 27:47I feel for the walls and everything.
- 27:49And then I just climb back into bed
- 27:51and out I go.
- 27:56I even pee less and I had to
- 27:58get up and pee less in the middle
- 28:00of the night.
- 28:01That's another thing I noticed.
- 28:02Like before third scene,
- 28:04I was getting up once,
- 28:05sometimes twice to go pee.
- 28:06And now I just wake up and I'm
- 28:08like, Oh yeah,
- 28:09I need to go pretty bad.
- 28:13Yeah.
- 28:14Um,
- 28:17was listening to the mayhem podcast this
- 28:18morning the froning podcast i guess it is
- 28:20now and i'm not i'm not the whole
- 28:24way through it but some interesting things
- 28:27that i heard uh not not that it
- 28:29was the main topic of conversation uh but
- 28:32some things i heard in that conversation
- 28:34that were interesting to me were that uh
- 28:38hq is doing a review of the programming
- 28:41for the mayhem classic and i think they
- 28:44now have a template spreadsheet
- 28:46that you fill out and it actually gives
- 28:48you instant feedback of what you're
- 28:50missing in your programming on the
- 28:54spreadsheet if i heard rory correctly he
- 28:57entered that because the programming is
- 28:59done for the classic he entered it into
- 29:01this spreadsheet and it'll say hey you're
- 29:03missing
- 29:06a sprint or, Hey,
- 29:07you're missing this movement or whatever.
- 29:10And then they have to send that to
- 29:12HQ and it gets one more set of
- 29:14eyes on it, but it's in the spreadsheet.
- 29:16That's already done some of the work for
- 29:18them.
- 29:21And I thought if that's true and CrossFit
- 29:26has done that,
- 29:27that is a major step forward for the
- 29:29programming of the semifinals of all of
- 29:33them.
- 29:34Right.
- 29:35If all of these third-party semifinals are
- 29:37required to enter their programming into
- 29:40the spreadsheet,
- 29:43instant feedback as to what is missing and
- 29:46those types of things,
- 29:47and then HQ is taking a look at
- 29:49that spreadsheet that is already giving
- 29:52them feedback, I think that is a major,
- 29:56major,
- 29:57major step forward with where we're going
- 29:59with the semifinals.
- 30:01That's a huge deal.
- 30:03huge deal and whoever came up with that
- 30:06idea give that person a raise we'll give
- 30:10them a golf clap right now uh that's
- 30:15yeah so here's a template we won't
- 30:18actually and i wonder if they if they
- 30:21could if like their stuff filled in before
- 30:23they filled their stuff in does that make
- 30:24sense like
- 30:25So I think there are formulas and
- 30:27algorithms probably hidden behind the
- 30:29spreadsheet.
- 30:30And as you like, it'll say workout one,
- 30:32you have to type it in.
- 30:34Right.
- 30:34Workout two, you have to type it in.
- 30:36And then the algorithm or what or the
- 30:38formulas behind that analyze what movement
- 30:42is it?
- 30:43is it gymnastics time duration control is
- 30:46it you know and then and then it
- 30:50it determines if things are missing time
- 30:53domain um because rory did mention time
- 30:56domain is something they got feedback from
- 31:00um that's a super useful tool if that
- 31:06is in fact what they have uh for
- 31:09all of them not just for mayhem like
- 31:11forever for everybody's sake
- 31:14Jonathan asks,
- 31:15it probably came from NorCal fiasco,
- 31:16and Dave's saying we probably should have
- 31:18helped them more and given them guidance.
- 31:23I don't think it necessarily came from
- 31:24NorCal.
- 31:25I think there were enough complaints about
- 31:27some of the semifinal programming,
- 31:29and it wasn't limited to just NorCal.
- 31:32Well, it's semifinal programming,
- 31:34Masters programming,
- 31:37anything that's got anything to do with
- 31:39the games where there were enough loud
- 31:42voices saying, hey, man,
- 31:44this was just not a good test,
- 31:46you know,
- 31:46or some of this test was okay.
- 31:48Some of it was crap.
- 31:49Or if you listen to Jamie,
- 31:50it was all crap.
- 31:54Love you, Jamie.
- 31:57Do you think Dave will use the
- 31:58spreadsheets?
- 32:01I think Dave wrote the spreadsheet.
- 32:04I'm guessing.
- 32:05Or he had input.
- 32:06I'm sure he had input.
- 32:07I doubt.
- 32:08Yeah.
- 32:08I doubt he was in Excel or whatever,
- 32:10like making it out,
- 32:11but I'm certain he was probably working
- 32:12with someone pretty close to say, okay,
- 32:16We need to have this, this,
- 32:17this and this.
- 32:18You know,
- 32:18this is what my season is going to
- 32:20look like because he crafts the entire
- 32:21thing right from the open all the way
- 32:23through the games.
- 32:23Every year has got a theme.
- 32:25So if we're doing that and we're going
- 32:26to help these people,
- 32:28then I need to have something here that
- 32:30they can take their program and put it
- 32:32into here and see how it matches up,
- 32:34what it has, what it doesn't have.
- 32:36And then we can make adjustments from
- 32:37there if need be.
- 32:38That's a really good idea.
- 32:41CrossFit says,
- 32:42I'm guessing you could probably teach
- 32:43machine learning this based on tests over
- 32:46the years.
- 32:48Amanda,
- 32:48it sounds like a script is running.
- 32:49Exactly.
- 32:51A script is just an automated algorithm,
- 32:55right, that you've typed in.
- 32:56CrossFit, Caro, Carolyn,
- 32:59only thought the mayhem programmed ones
- 33:00were crap, so basically they all were.
- 33:05Right.
- 33:06Carolyn loves mayhem programming.
- 33:09Right.
- 33:11And she won the Everyday Heroes games,
- 33:16right?
- 33:18She loves Mayhem programming.
- 33:19I think she just thought that there was
- 33:21way too much influence from Mayhem on the
- 33:23season.
- 33:24It was really her complaint.
- 33:26That's a legitimate complaint.
- 33:29I mean, they were involved in, what,
- 33:31five out of eight?
- 33:34Yeah.
- 33:34That's a lot.
- 33:36That's a lot.
- 33:37For one season.
- 33:38And I think they said,
- 33:43it was either on that show or Rich
- 33:46on Savan said that Daniel Chaffee was in
- 33:48town and they were working with him on
- 33:50the French throwdown.
- 33:51So I don't think that mayhem helping with
- 33:53programming is going anywhere soon.
- 33:56Why would it?
- 33:58Like the vast majority of people who saw
- 34:01the things, yeah,
- 34:01they were a little concerned about the
- 34:03Mayhem athletes doing the Mayhem
- 34:04programming at these Mayhem programmed
- 34:07events, right?
- 34:08Which again is a legitimate concern.
- 34:11But other than that,
- 34:13The vast majority of it was straight up
- 34:15CrossFit, like old school,
- 34:18just the stuff that rich programs or
- 34:21whoever's in charge of the programming
- 34:22programs.
- 34:25She loves the programming.
- 34:27She didn't love the lack of diversity.
- 34:30I didn't either.
- 34:31It seemed very repetitive.
- 34:34As someone who loves to watch the sport
- 34:36and loves to watch the qualification
- 34:37process to the games,
- 34:39I don't want to see heavy Isabel
- 34:42forty-seven times.
- 34:43I don't want to see the same sandbag
- 34:46workout twelve times.
- 34:49I want to see some diversity in what
- 34:50I'm watching.
- 34:51I mean, that's fair.
- 34:55Same.
- 34:56I didn't like the idea...
- 34:58Let me rephrase that.
- 34:59I liked the idea that everybody was going
- 35:02to do Heavy Isabel for semifinals until
- 35:05you actually started playing out.
- 35:07And then you're like, oh, here we go.
- 35:09Now this guy's going to do Heavy Isabel.
- 35:11Now this Heavy Isabel.
- 35:13Or this guy's taking a seventh attempt at
- 35:15Heavy Isabel because he signed up for all
- 35:18of the events.
- 35:19Because he's done it at four different
- 35:22places now and online.
- 35:24Yeah, absolutely.
- 35:26And he's beat his score every time,
- 35:27and now he's doing it in superhuman speed.
- 35:29The other thing they weren't intending to
- 35:37announce,
- 35:39but they did say that the invites have
- 35:41gone out and they got more returned
- 35:44positive wanting to sign up for Mayhem
- 35:47this year than they did last year.
- 35:50Um,
- 35:51and they kind of like just through a
- 35:53conversation release that Jason Hopper has
- 35:55signed up for mayhem because lost his
- 35:58email and could not find it and was
- 36:00calling to complain that he wasn't invited
- 36:03on the first round.
- 36:05Um,
- 36:05so Angelo had to walk him through what
- 36:07spam email is.
- 36:10re-email to another email address to get
- 36:12them to get it and they said they
- 36:16knew that some had gone to spam because
- 36:19db went to spam and they had to
- 36:22work with her to find it as well
- 36:24so i'm assuming i'm assuming that those
- 36:27two are going to mayhem for sure
- 36:30That is the most Jason Hopper thing to
- 36:33have ever Jason Hopper.
- 36:35I didn't get an invite.
- 36:37You said I was getting an invite.
- 36:38Have you checked your email?
- 36:40Yeah.
- 36:41Have you checked all your email?
- 36:42What do you mean?
- 36:43Like,
- 36:43that's how I figured it feels like that
- 36:45conversation went.
- 36:47Angelo said he asked, he said,
- 36:49I checked my priority.
- 36:50I checked my,
- 36:52like all the things that Gmail now splits
- 36:55it into because I tried all of them.
- 36:58And none of them that he listed were
- 36:59spam.
- 37:01Did you, though?
- 37:02Did you, Jason?
- 37:06DB and Jason being those two color me
- 37:08shocked.
- 37:09Yeah.
- 37:11Yeah.
- 37:13All of that happens in the first probably
- 37:15ten minutes of the Rich Froning podcast.
- 37:18And then...
- 37:23And then it got into a lot of
- 37:24this triathlon training that they're going
- 37:26to do in Cozumel.
- 37:28The Mayhem crew are doing Ironman.
- 37:32So when I saw or when I heard
- 37:34Rich say that,
- 37:36that he was probably going to do a
- 37:37triathlon, it...
- 37:39My head always goes back to that, uh,
- 37:42at outside magazine tweet,
- 37:45but I had a picture of rich coming
- 37:46up out the water at the tribe that
- 37:49he did, uh, whenever that was,
- 37:51or so something like that and said the
- 37:55captions, uh,
- 37:58training for a triathlon is the best way
- 37:59to get in shape.
- 38:00This guy will tell you and enrich sub
- 38:02tweeted underneath and said, I'm that guy.
- 38:04And no, I won't tell you that.
- 38:06Hmm.
- 38:08So now that tweet could come back around
- 38:11because it's relevant again,
- 38:13because now he's actually going to do a
- 38:14triathlon and he's not actually,
- 38:17he's going to do CrossFit training to
- 38:18actually train for a triathlon.
- 38:19Yeah.
- 38:20He says he's not,
- 38:21he said the only thing he's really going
- 38:22to work on is transitions from the bike
- 38:24to the run.
- 38:25Cause every small triathlon he's done,
- 38:27that's been the bit hardest part.
- 38:30And he's going to up his swimming,
- 38:32but basically just train like he always
- 38:34does.
- 38:35Right.
- 38:36Yeah.
- 38:36Do a little bit more swimming,
- 38:37practice getting off the bike and getting
- 38:38my shoes on and start running.
- 38:39Yeah.
- 38:40Easy day.
- 38:42Like when High Rocks used his jogging
- 38:43photo.
- 38:47Wayne Short,
- 38:48they also said Velner and Crouch declined.
- 38:50I missed that part.
- 38:51Again,
- 38:52I run these podcasts while I'm working.
- 38:54So like I'm just listening and I try
- 38:57to pick out things that I hear.
- 38:58So I did not hear that part,
- 38:59but thank you for updating us on that.
- 39:01Yeah.
- 39:02Yeah.
- 39:03So what Sten said,
- 39:07they should have sent Hopper's invitation
- 39:08to Grace Ann and let her just handle
- 39:10that because that probably would have been
- 39:12the best thing to do.
- 39:14Grace Ann needs to tell Jason, hey,
- 39:15just give them my email and not yours.
- 39:18Yeah,
- 39:18can you just give them my stuff and
- 39:20I'll just take care of that next time,
- 39:21please?
- 39:21Thank you.
- 39:27He just needs a personal assistant or
- 39:29Grace Ann.
- 39:30Yeah.
- 39:35CrossFit, he didn't say more biking.
- 39:37He just said he was going to go
- 39:39back to his CrossFit training days and go
- 39:41back to making weekly swims a thing.
- 39:44And then he just wanted to test the
- 39:47transition from bike to run,
- 39:51going from that crouched position to
- 39:54trying to become upright to start running.
- 39:57So here's what I love about that.
- 40:01is that he's like, I'm not competitive.
- 40:04I'm just gonna go do it, blah, blah,
- 40:05blah, whatever.
- 40:06I'm also gonna practice my transition,
- 40:08getting off the bike and getting my shoes
- 40:09on and getting onto the run so I
- 40:10can do that as smoothly as humanly
- 40:12possible.
- 40:13Okay, Rich.
- 40:17We've been watching you, dude, since like,
- 40:19two thousand and ten-ish,
- 40:21something along those lines.
- 40:24We got a good beat on it,
- 40:25I'm just saying.
- 40:29Well, it's like his first games.
- 40:30He learned how to transition from the top
- 40:32of the rope to the bottom of the
- 40:33rope more efficiently from twenty ten to
- 40:36twenty eleven.
- 40:37Yeah, well,
- 40:39his first transition was super efficient
- 40:41because he just fell.
- 40:42That's the fastest way to get down.
- 40:49Not competitive,
- 40:49but going to prepare like a psycho,
- 40:51like anything else.
- 40:51Yeah, exactly.
- 40:55Rich will never not be competitive in
- 40:57anything.
- 41:00Dude,
- 41:00his high school baseball coach said he was
- 41:02diving for ground balls in a parking lot.
- 41:06That's all you need to know about that
- 41:08dude.
- 41:08Like that's the kind of dude that he
- 41:10is.
- 41:11Yeah.
- 41:12Asphalt.
- 41:13Yeah, that was – when I heard that,
- 41:15that was just insane.
- 41:17Although there was a time in my life
- 41:19that I was that guy.
- 41:24For me, it depends on what's going on.
- 41:26Like what's at stake.
- 41:27If I really want to win that bad,
- 41:29then yeah, it doesn't really matter.
- 41:30I'll just deal with the pain later.
- 41:32It's fine.
- 41:33I suffered more injuries in intramural
- 41:35sports than I did actually on a
- 41:36competitive field.
- 41:41Playing adult soccer.
- 41:45Like I don't, as a matter of fact,
- 41:46I don't call it league soccer,
- 41:47but
- 41:48I had probably one of the worst injuries
- 41:50I've ever had in my entire life from
- 41:51a goalkeeper literally landing on my foot
- 41:54while my toes were pointed like this and
- 41:56my ankle was here and my foot went
- 41:58that way to where the top of my
- 42:00foot touched the ground.
- 42:03Yeah, it was fantastic.
- 42:05Do not recommend that, by the way.
- 42:06I'm like, dude,
- 42:07I was turning away from you with the
- 42:09ball.
- 42:09Like, why are you coming to get that?
- 42:10That doesn't make any sense.
- 42:11I had to crawl off the field.
- 42:14Well,
- 42:14yesterday we talked about partnerships.
- 42:17One of the ones I forgot to mention
- 42:18yesterday was that Mayhem and CrossFit
- 42:22partnered to do the Everyday Heroes games
- 42:26where they brought in people from the
- 42:29medical, teaching, military, police,
- 42:32fire to compete together at Mayhem.
- 42:36And Carolyn was one of those people.
- 42:39She said it was an amazing experience.
- 42:41Mayhem just sent her a custom barbell.
- 42:45like a week ago that is beautiful.
- 42:49It says Mayhem Athlete on it.
- 42:51It's baby blue and the Cerakote bar with
- 42:57the shiny stainless steel collars.
- 43:03But super sweet.
- 43:06That's one of the partnerships they're
- 43:08doing.
- 43:08It was announced earlier this week that
- 43:10Coaches Congress and CrossFit are
- 43:12partnering now,
- 43:13which I think is monumental to have this
- 43:17entity that works on making coaches better
- 43:21in the CrossFit space is now partnering
- 43:23with CrossFit.
- 43:26The educational team that puts together
- 43:28the L-I, the L-II,
- 43:29the L-III is now going to partner with
- 43:33this entity that has these gatherings
- 43:38where coaches come together and share
- 43:40their experiences and share their best
- 43:42practices,
- 43:43I think is really freaking awesome.
- 43:46Makes everybody better.
- 43:49Makes everybody better.
- 43:50Rising tide raises all ships.
- 43:53The more knowledge you get in a room
- 43:55with people that are actually willing to
- 43:56listen, right?
- 43:57If you go into coaches,
- 43:58attend a coach concerts because you want
- 43:59to get better and you want to listen,
- 44:01you're not going over there thinking,
- 44:02I know everything.
- 44:03Nobody who signs up for that does that.
- 44:05So you're going to get better.
- 44:06You're going to listen.
- 44:07You're going to hear a different
- 44:08perspective, different takes on how to,
- 44:10you know,
- 44:11triage people when they walk in the door
- 44:12and try to prioritize good movement,
- 44:15you know,
- 44:16better than what you're already doing.
- 44:17No, I'm huge fan.
- 44:18That's a great idea.
- 44:20And this year's open,
- 44:21they're partnering with Wadapalooza in
- 44:22Miami to do twenty twenty six point three
- 44:28and allowing the
- 44:30Joe Piazza,
- 44:31General pop to come in to what a
- 44:32palooza and do the workout it will be
- 44:34one of the events for all of the
- 44:36competitive divisions so they'll get their
- 44:38workout on out on the floor,
- 44:41I think that's a brilliant move to if
- 44:43you've never been to what a palooza it
- 44:45is.
- 44:47one of the most well attended events in
- 44:50the CrossFit space.
- 44:51It's Miami beach.
- 44:53It's cold in the North.
- 44:55People trying to get out of here.
- 44:56Don't hang out on the beach for a
- 44:58couple of days.
- 44:59It's a great place to highlight what the
- 45:01open is and that loud and live decided
- 45:05to partner with them to do that at
- 45:07this, their event,
- 45:08I think was really cool.
- 45:10I want to go one year just to
- 45:12go just cause I've,
- 45:14I've never been and I just want to
- 45:15go see like,
- 45:18Fittest, I mean,
- 45:21just to catch all the spectacle.
- 45:22It's going to be badass.
- 45:26Yeah,
- 45:26CrossFit says this year it's spring break.
- 45:28It's still going to be cold in the
- 45:29north.
- 45:30Spring break is cold out there.
- 45:35What I'll tell you about Waterpalooza is I
- 45:37really enjoyed my time there,
- 45:39but I really enjoyed my time
- 45:42in the crowds and walking around and
- 45:44meeting a ton of people and seeing people
- 45:46that I've met in the space for years
- 45:49and years.
- 45:52I have not been to the new location,
- 45:54the old one at Bayfront.
- 45:58Watching the competition was hard.
- 46:01Like if you're there to watch the
- 46:02competition, getting a seat was difficult.
- 46:05The floor is thirty lanes wide.
- 46:07Seeing someone on the far side was
- 46:10impossible.
- 46:12But to meet all the people and to
- 46:16see all the people is better than any
- 46:19other event that I've ever gone to.
- 46:24Strong endorsement, boys and girls.
- 46:26Probably the biggest vendor village you'll
- 46:27ever see.
- 46:31I like going to walk around vendor village
- 46:32just to go see all this stuff that
- 46:33people bring.
- 46:35Well,
- 46:35and it's different than other vendor
- 46:37village.
- 46:37I mean,
- 46:37they have tattoo artists at this vendor
- 46:39village,
- 46:40just doing tattoos in the middle of water
- 46:42Palooza, right?
- 46:43Um, it's like, it's just,
- 46:46they're very open to whoever wants to come
- 46:48in and sell or whatever.
- 46:51Right.
- 46:51And there's tons of community events all
- 46:53throughout the, the, well, I had, again,
- 46:57I've not been to Miami beach,
- 46:58but there are tons of places for the
- 47:01community to come and get a workout in.
- 47:02Yeah.
- 47:03Activations, all that kind of stuff.
- 47:05I'm going to say this too, is that,
- 47:06uh,
- 47:10I expect twenty six point three to be
- 47:13a badass workout.
- 47:16Because they're doing it there,
- 47:17because it's going to be a part of
- 47:19Waterpalooza,
- 47:20like it's going to be an actual event
- 47:22over there, like I expect.
- 47:24So, you know,
- 47:24Dave saying on his weekend review the
- 47:26other day that, you know,
- 47:27we're going to we're going to kick off
- 47:28the open, you know, with a bang,
- 47:32with a bang, blah, blah, whatever.
- 47:35I'm hoping to God it's not another
- 47:37dumbbell slash burpee workout because
- 47:39that's not a kicking off of the bang,
- 47:41if you ask me.
- 47:43But I really do feel like that one
- 47:46especially,
- 47:46and I know the other one's going to
- 47:48be announced somewhere else.
- 47:49They're all doing their thing and whatnot.
- 47:51But the fact that that one's going to
- 47:52be at Waterpool,
- 47:54I just feel like something special is
- 47:56going to be cooked up for that.
- 47:59And I could be wrong.
- 48:00Maybe twenty six point three will be
- 48:01dumbbells and freaking burpees.
- 48:03But I just don't feel like it.
- 48:06Atlanta's going for the first time this
- 48:08year.
- 48:10Jody,
- 48:10they used to have the CrossFit cruise
- 48:11right after Waterpalooza.
- 48:15If you've never seen video from that,
- 48:16like the workouts they were doing on the
- 48:18ship deck.
- 48:19Crazy.
- 48:24And then Ken's always got to tell us
- 48:25when he leaves.
- 48:31I don't have any noose around your neck,
- 48:33and I don't have anything holding you
- 48:34here, buddy.
- 48:35No.
- 48:36Love you, Ken.
- 48:39Go talk.
- 48:39Go watch Colton.
- 48:43I wonder if Waterpalooza will have space
- 48:44for volunteers to do the open workout.
- 48:47I would hope so.
- 48:49I think they should make it a volunteer
- 48:50event and film it.
- 48:52Here's the volunteers of Waterpalooza all
- 48:54doing the open workout together.
- 48:56That'd be good content.
- 48:59Yeah.
- 48:59That would be good content.
- 49:03The last thing I wanted to address before
- 49:05we sign off today is I got a
- 49:07comment about we talked about rivals in
- 49:10sport on Monday, I think.
- 49:13I don't know.
- 49:14It's all blurring together for me.
- 49:16And how it's good.
- 49:17It started with the handshake with the
- 49:19Bears coach and the Packers coach.
- 49:21And I love it.
- 49:22I love the fact that we hate our
- 49:23rival and the cities behind it.
- 49:26And I think it brings cool drama to
- 49:28the space.
- 49:31And I think that's something CrossFit is
- 49:32missing.
- 49:33I think we need...
- 49:36more heated rivals in the spot in the
- 49:38space and someone made a comment and it
- 49:41was a legit comment that we had our
- 49:43drama last year with wfp versus crossfit
- 49:47and i would say that's not the drama
- 49:48i'm looking for that is living the space
- 49:52and i don't like that that created a
- 49:55rift that created a split i don't like
- 49:57that i want people back together but i
- 50:00want that laura and tia don't get along
- 50:05And I want them on the same floor
- 50:07while they're not getting along.
- 50:09Right.
- 50:10I want Tia to look and see Laura
- 50:12coming at the corner of her eye.
- 50:14And all of a sudden,
- 50:15like really as much faster,
- 50:17you thought she was moving before puts the
- 50:19hammer down because there's no way I'm
- 50:21letting her body.
- 50:23Right.
- 50:24And I think like,
- 50:25there are some athletes that have that dog
- 50:27in them.
- 50:28Like,
- 50:28I think Lucy Campbell is that kind of
- 50:31dog, right?
- 50:33Like she doesn't want to lose and she's
- 50:35going to tell you she doesn't want to
- 50:36lose and she's going to look you in
- 50:38the eye and say she doesn't want to
- 50:39lose.
- 50:42And,
- 50:42and that doesn't mean she's a bad person,
- 50:45but I want,
- 50:46I think we need to highlight the dogs.
- 50:48Yeah.
- 50:50Maybe that's a better way of putting it.
- 50:52And that's the drama I want.
- 50:54I don't want the drama that splits us.
- 50:57I want the drama that when we're all
- 50:58together,
- 51:00we're going to throw down and it's going
- 51:01to get ugly.
- 51:03I don't have to shake your hand.
- 51:05I don't have to say pleasantries before we
- 51:10start.
- 51:11I'm coming out here to kick your ass.
- 51:16Hard stop.
- 51:19Do we need more Colton Mertens?
- 51:22Colton,
- 51:23what do you think about this last workout?
- 51:25All these nerds knew I was fixing to
- 51:26come out here and beat them.
- 51:28Like,
- 51:28that's the kind of stuff he says on
- 51:29the microphone,
- 51:30and I think we need more of that.
- 51:33Jokovic is a prick to some,
- 51:35but has fans.
- 51:36Exactly.
- 51:37Everybody in this world,
- 51:40from nineties wrestling,
- 51:41people love heels.
- 51:44People love the villain in the space.
- 51:48If you live long enough as a hero,
- 51:50you're going to turn into the villain.
- 51:53Does not matter.
- 51:54That is a fact.
- 51:58I like when I hear insane Philip Rivers
- 52:00audio.
- 52:01Yeah,
- 52:01because that guy is the best trash-talking
- 52:04person without profanity I've ever seen.
- 52:07Dadgummit.
- 52:07Dadgummit.
- 52:10And he's serious about it, too.
- 52:12He's not saying it ironically at any given
- 52:14point.
- 52:15He just throws it out there.
- 52:16It's fantastic.
- 52:18Sean,
- 52:19where did I say anywhere in this that
- 52:20they had to dislike each other?
- 52:22If they do, that can be a bonus.
- 52:25But I just want people that don't have
- 52:28to be nice about it the whole time.
- 52:31Like,
- 52:31I am coming out here to kick your
- 52:33ass.
- 52:37It just...
- 52:40It just makes sense.
- 52:42I want to be able to root for
- 52:44one athlete over another.
- 52:46If I root for all the athletes,
- 52:48I'm not as invested.
- 52:54If it matters to me who wins that
- 52:57event,
- 52:59because I love this person way over the
- 53:02other person, then...
- 53:06then I'm invested, right?
- 53:08And because everybody is so likable and
- 53:10everybody shakes hands and you come down
- 53:13the floor and you root on the last
- 53:14place finisher, that's great in a class.
- 53:17On the competition floor,
- 53:19I want you to want to beat them
- 53:22by two laps.
- 53:26You have to be invested on who you're
- 53:28rooting for or it doesn't matter.
- 53:32And that means show your personality,
- 53:34tell me who you are,
- 53:39I think one of the most underrated or
- 53:42subtle ones,
- 53:44examples of that was when Matt Fraser,
- 53:46when they did, oh, which workout was it?
- 53:54With the dumbbell deadlifts and the
- 53:59parallel handstand pushups.
- 54:00The year before, he didn't even have to,
- 54:01he had to do a minimum work requirement
- 54:02because he had already had it sewed up.
- 54:04And then they threw it in the middle
- 54:06of the games the next year.
- 54:07And he said,
- 54:09Last year,
- 54:10I didn't really have to do this one.
- 54:11This year,
- 54:11I wanted to see what I could actually
- 54:14do on it.
- 54:15That was some subtle,
- 54:17I'm fixing to wax everybody here because I
- 54:20can't type shit without him actually
- 54:23saying that.
- 54:24Bring that kind of stuff out.
- 54:27Have an attitude, dude.
- 54:31We had a little Adler and Krennikoff,
- 54:32but it died quickly.
- 54:34Yeah.
- 54:36Roman getting hurt didn't help that.
- 54:38No.
- 54:39If Roman stays healthy through that games,
- 54:40I think it's a lot more than we
- 54:42got.
- 54:44Yeah.
- 54:44Wayne,
- 54:45you can talk trash without disliking
- 54:46somebody.
- 54:53The bike and banger one when he complained
- 54:55about George Sanchez.
- 54:58He was complaining about Noah because
- 54:59Noah's was straight hook in that thing the
- 55:01entire time.
- 55:03Yeah.
- 55:06Wanting that passion, fight,
- 55:07and desire is exactly why Noah Olsen was
- 55:09so damn annoying.
- 55:12Yeah.
- 55:15Yeah.
- 55:17Yep.
- 55:19Amanda is guessing Fibonacci.
- 55:22Yes, that's it.
- 55:23Fibonacci.
- 55:23Because they had the final the year before
- 55:24and then they did it again the next
- 55:26year.
- 55:27This is what I want.
- 55:28I want Matt Frazier calling Noah Olsen
- 55:30dinkle nuts.
- 55:32Dinkle nuts over here,
- 55:33which is hooking it the whole time.
- 55:37It doesn't mean that Matt dislikes Noah.
- 55:39It just means he was pissed off in
- 55:41that moment that he got to cheat and
- 55:42he.
- 55:45And compete against the cheater.

- 56:10swagger uh fraser trash talk was the best
- 56:17and the funniest yeah i i thought he
- 56:21was his best early in his career and
- 56:25then after he got into a long-term
- 56:27relationship with sammy he kind of
- 56:28mellowed out a bit oh sammy definitely uh
- 56:33softened some of those edges
- 56:35Like those early behind the scenes or
- 56:38documentaries and behind the scenes when
- 56:40Frazier's trying to beat Froning and
- 56:43trying to beat Ben Smith,
- 56:45like that is classic trash talking.
- 56:47And he would even trash talk himself.
- 56:51He was a dumbass for trying to flip
- 56:53the pig.
- 56:57Curling it every time instead of, yeah.
- 57:01When Ben told him, oh dude,
- 57:02it was easy.
- 57:03It's just like flipping a tire.
- 57:04And he's like,
- 57:05I've never flipped a tire.
- 57:07Never flipped a tire.
- 57:11Yeah.
