- 0:09Speaker 1: studio today to talk about something you've maybe if you're
- 0:11Speaker 1: like me, it came across your Facebook feed. You know,
- 0:14Speaker 1: every once in a while locally there's somebody who just
- 0:16Speaker 1: has a great network of people that love them and
- 0:19Speaker 1: unfortunately something bad happens and we lose him. And that
- 0:22Speaker 1: was the case with John Peterson. So we have Tyler
- 0:26Speaker 1: and Nicoleon here actually who worked with John at Sanford Ambulance.
- 0:29Speaker 3: Correct. Yes, awesome, Well, good morning both you thank you
- 0:31Speaker 3: for coming in.
- 0:32Speaker 2: I know this is so hard for you guys to do,
- 0:34Speaker 2: to talk about somebody that you guys love so much,
- 0:36Speaker 2: But also I want to take this minute for people
- 0:38Speaker 2: to know that aren't familiar. You know, we all a
- 0:40Speaker 2: lot of us, like Piken mentioned sad on social media.
- 0:43Speaker 2: It was just last Thursday we got a big ninety
- 0:45Speaker 2: eight point seven Christmas wish from one of your co
- 0:47Speaker 2: workers who really wanted us to share this story.
- 0:50Speaker 4: So can you tell us a little bit about John
- 0:51Speaker 4: and what happened.
- 0:52Speaker 5: He was an outstanding INDI visual, an outstanding paramedic, friend
- 0:56Speaker 5: of father, husband. He was kind and he was very
- 1:01Speaker 5: passionate about his job. He touched the lives of many
- 1:04Speaker 5: individuals in our community. He started working at Stanford Ambulance
- 1:07Speaker 5: in twenty twelve as an ala medic, came down to
- 1:09Speaker 5: the Education department in twenty twenty one and was able
- 1:13Speaker 5: to do a lot of outreach in our community and
- 1:15Speaker 5: in the rural areas you know, in the state of
- 1:18Speaker 5: North Dakota, Minnesota. So he was outstanding.
- 1:21Speaker 3: It was an on privilege to be.
- 1:22Speaker 5: Able to work with him.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Yeah, that's such a selfless job to do, like you said,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and then to be passing it along to smaller communities
- 1:29Speaker 1: and the education aspect of it. He just sounds like
- 1:31Speaker 1: a great guy. And I know I never read the
- 1:32Speaker 1: honor of meeting him, but just everything I've read and
- 1:34Speaker 1: everything you shared, Nicole, what a great guy.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And so when we saw the news, it just broke
- 1:38Speaker 3: our heart.
- 1:39Speaker 4: And tell us a little bit about what happened and
- 1:41Speaker 4: how long ago.
- 1:42Speaker 6: Yeah, so last November November twenty twenty three, he started
- 1:45Speaker 6: experience some of your muscle weakness throughout his body. He
- 1:48Speaker 6: described as going from being thirty five to eighty pretty
- 1:51Speaker 6: rapidly within a few weeks. In January, he was diagnosed
- 1:54Speaker 6: with a wear out immune disease called immune mediated and
- 1:58Speaker 6: necritizing myopathy, the disease that just literally eats the muscles
- 2:02Speaker 6: inside the body and then eventually affected his hearts.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's just so horrible.
- 2:07Speaker 1: And you know he was a young man, right, I mean, yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: thirty five, that's just And how old are his kids.
- 2:12Speaker 5: I'm fourteen and I believe eleven or twelve.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Gosh, that breaks my heart on so many levels. Of course,
- 2:18Speaker 2: you guys lost a friend and a coworker. Our community
- 2:20Speaker 2: lost somebody who's just amazing. And I know that one
- 2:24Speaker 2: of the reasons we wanted to bring you guys in
- 2:25Speaker 2: here is because you guys have had this plan for
- 2:27Speaker 2: a while. There is going to be a benefit because
- 2:29Speaker 2: I can only imagine the medical expenses now just morning,
- 2:32Speaker 2: the loss of him because he did pass away on Friday.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Just his family, they've they've got to be going through
- 2:36Speaker 2: such a hard time.
- 2:37Speaker 6: Yes, very much so.
- 2:38Speaker 3: So we partnered with lend a hand up.
- 2:40Speaker 4: Okay, I work through So when is this benefit?
- 2:42Speaker 6: The benefit is October twentieth, and it's going to be
- 2:45Speaker 6: at Labby's in North Fargo from eleven am to two pm.
- 2:49Speaker 2: Okay, perfect, And we're going to make it super easy.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We're going to put all of these details on our
- 2:52Speaker 2: Facebook page. But what we wanted to do, and I
- 2:56Speaker 2: wish we could have done it sooner, but we want
- 2:59Speaker 2: to be able to give you guys a big Christmas wish.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It's a one thousand dollars check thanks to not only
- 3:03Speaker 2: the Big Christmas Wish, but Gateways, Chevrolet and Heartline Chevy dealers.
- 3:06Speaker 2: To kind of start a little fundraiser and put this
- 3:08Speaker 2: also on our Facebook page. I know there's a lot
- 3:10Speaker 2: of people that might not be able to make it
- 3:12Speaker 2: out there, so we're going to put it on Facebook
- 3:14Speaker 2: and one hundred percent of these donations are going to
- 3:16Speaker 2: go right to John's family.
- 3:18Speaker 3: That's amazing.
- 3:19Speaker 4: That's really positive.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Think your family will really appreciate that absolutely.
- 3:24Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, the least we can do just to
- 3:25Speaker 1: help them in any way. You know, nothing's going to
- 3:28Speaker 1: make it better, but just to help ease it in
- 3:31Speaker 1: any way possible. So we're happy to do that. We're
- 3:33Speaker 1: honored to do it. Thank you guys. So much for
- 3:34Speaker 1: sharing John's story. It sounds like a great guy that
- 3:37Speaker 1: we were all lucky to have for the short amount
- 3:40Speaker 1: of time we did.
- 3:41Speaker 4: Thank you, guys, Thank you.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Take in Amna in the morning.
