- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites presented by Draft Kings. The crown
- 0:13Speaker 1: is yours NFL Combine Week, so we're gonna be stretching
- 0:16Speaker 1: some hammies, rushing these forty times like you wouldn't believe.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Let's welcome in the crew. I am your humble and.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Gracious host, Braining Kravitz, joined by the Prime Minister of
- 0:26Speaker 1: Degenerate Nations Stucky and the Queen of the Pod, Miss
- 0:30Speaker 1: Kendra Middleton. Kendra, by the way, today's episode mail bag episode.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Your questions answered back end of the episode, So if
- 0:41Speaker 1: you submitted them, make sure you hang around. If you
- 0:44Speaker 1: didn't and you just want to hear the weird questions
- 0:46Speaker 1: that people asked us, stick around for that as well. Kendra,
- 0:49Speaker 1: you've tabbed yourself the combine freak of this podcast. What
- 0:55Speaker 1: is it about this event that jazz?
- 0:57Speaker 2: Is you up?
- 0:58Speaker 1: And are you particularly excited for this year for any
- 1:01Speaker 1: certain reason?
- 1:02Speaker 3: I'm not super excited about this combine. I was really
- 1:04Speaker 3: excited about last year's. I just I love the positions
- 1:10Speaker 3: that aren't quarterbacks, so I guess it's a better draft
- 1:13Speaker 3: for that. But I feel like we're not gonna get
- 1:14Speaker 3: as many fun storylines this year as we're used to.
- 1:17Speaker 4: I love the combine.
- 1:18Speaker 3: Because I think it helps us get to know these
- 1:19Speaker 3: guys a little better. I also love that it's not
- 1:22Speaker 3: just like Super football related, like we're about to watch
- 1:24Speaker 3: guys running a straight line and jump and all of
- 1:26Speaker 3: that crazy stuff, and then we wind up getting these
- 1:28Speaker 3: weird stories like Will Campbell and his small arms that
- 1:31Speaker 3: just will infiltrate the Internet and cause meme after meme
- 1:35Speaker 3: after meme until we eventually get to March Madness. I
- 1:37Speaker 3: just think it's a fun, little like football moment. We
- 1:39Speaker 3: get to know these guys a little bit better, see
- 1:41Speaker 3: what they can do outside of the football field, and
- 1:44Speaker 3: it's just I think it's a good week for college football.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Gives us something to look forward to, and I kind
- 1:49Speaker 3: of love to just sit here and be like, ah,
- 1:50Speaker 3: not his footwork not that great on that one. Let's
- 1:52Speaker 3: see the next guy. Like I just the combine's so
- 1:54Speaker 3: fun and it's cool to see these guys get a
- 1:57Speaker 3: moment to kind of just show off and you.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Know, live their childhood dream.
- 2:02Speaker 3: And I am a softy if we know this deep down,
- 2:05Speaker 3: even though I come off like a bitch, I just
- 2:07Speaker 3: like to see these guys' stories and get to know
- 2:09Speaker 3: them a little bit better.
- 2:10Speaker 2: Well, I would never call you that, but yeah, it
- 2:14Speaker 2: is the underwear Olympics.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I used to be very much into the combine for
- 2:18Speaker 1: all of those reasons, but once I caught myself overvaluing
- 2:23Speaker 1: what it was that I saw, I had to take
- 2:25Speaker 1: a step back from it. Because that's the question that
- 2:28Speaker 1: any of us, especially if you're a GM in the
- 2:30Speaker 1: league or a scout, that you have to ask yourself
- 2:33Speaker 1: is is are you going to get in more trouble
- 2:36Speaker 1: by outright ignoring the results?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Which some GMS.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Nick Cassario made a big thing about this last year saying,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I don't even I don't care what anybody does at
- 2:45Speaker 1: the combine. I'm not going to factor that into my
- 2:48Speaker 1: overall analysis. Do you get in more trouble ignoring it
- 2:51Speaker 1: or do you get in more trouble by paying too
- 2:53Speaker 1: much attention to it and overvaluing those results?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Stuckey, where do you land on that?
- 2:58Speaker 1: As far as which end of the spectrum you think
- 3:01Speaker 1: causes more harm than good?
- 3:05Speaker 5: I think probably ignoring it. I mean you can get
- 3:07Speaker 5: in trouble on both ends, like if to compare it
- 3:11Speaker 5: to like betting on sports at a high level. You
- 3:15Speaker 5: you know, you can do it at a high level
- 3:17Speaker 5: just by focusing on the numbers, having a really good model,
- 3:20Speaker 5: But in order to I think be even more complete
- 3:24Speaker 5: and maximize your potential return, you also have to have
- 3:29Speaker 5: the other side of it, understanding the matchups, the news,
- 3:32Speaker 5: the injuries, blah blah blah. You know, there's an artistic
- 3:36Speaker 5: subjective portion as well, and I think when it comes
- 3:39Speaker 5: to evaluating talent in the NFL, you can't just completely
- 3:42Speaker 5: like there's a lot of things, like you just talked
- 3:44Speaker 5: about hand size, arm length, there's certain just characteristics and
- 3:50Speaker 5: minimum things that you want to see from a certain player.
- 3:53Speaker 5: And then there's also you know that you said getting
- 3:56Speaker 5: to know these players. I think it completely ignore just
- 4:00Speaker 5: their character, how they interview, I think would be a
- 4:03Speaker 5: mistake as well. That's a part of it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:06Speaker 5: Then obviously you have your tape and how they perform
- 4:08Speaker 5: on the field, and that's part of it as well.
- 4:10Speaker 5: So I think you're talking about NFL teams, billion dollar franchises,
- 4:16Speaker 5: it has to be an all encompassing scalp in order
- 4:19Speaker 5: to come up with a you know, the best possible
- 4:24Speaker 5: kind of hypothesis and building out your draft board. You
- 4:29Speaker 5: can't just ignore one part of it. You can't just
- 4:31Speaker 5: go based off of what you see. You can't just
- 4:34Speaker 5: ignore what you saw and go based off of the measurables.
- 4:38Speaker 5: And then you can't just ignore a character how they
- 4:39Speaker 5: might fit in the locker room. And so I think
- 4:42Speaker 5: all of it matters, but I think you can get
- 4:44Speaker 5: a little bit more trouble of just completely ignoring it
- 4:47Speaker 5: because there are just certain red flags. There are certain
- 4:49Speaker 5: things that jump off the page for certain positions that
- 4:53Speaker 5: might not have translated depending on the scheme and the
- 4:56Speaker 5: system in college, that you know could help you identify,
- 5:00Speaker 5: especially that those diamonds in the rough. But yeah, I
- 5:03Speaker 5: mean you look at you know, but arm length for
- 5:07Speaker 5: left tackle, the hand size for a quarterback, like there
- 5:10Speaker 5: are a lot of these things, you know, some of
- 5:13Speaker 5: the athletics scores for some of the other positions, like
- 5:16Speaker 5: these are things that that matter. Now, it's not all
- 5:19Speaker 5: that matters, and it doesn't mean that because you don't
- 5:22Speaker 5: hit a certain threshold, you can't make it or be
- 5:25Speaker 5: really good in the NFL or vice versa. But they
- 5:27Speaker 5: do matter. So, but I think you're buying in trouble
- 5:31Speaker 5: for ignoring it. But basically to sew up a very
- 5:34Speaker 5: long answer, it depends and you have to take into
- 5:37Speaker 5: account everything.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna say too, like there are instances
- 5:41Speaker 3: where we've seen like the Will Campbell arm thing that
- 5:44Speaker 3: seem to have mattered this season, Kenny Pickett's hand size
- 5:47Speaker 3: that seemed to have mattered through his career. And the
- 5:49Speaker 3: other thing is too is like I feel like we
- 5:51Speaker 3: know what to expect from certain guys in the combine,
- 5:53Speaker 3: but having a good combine can get you further than
- 5:57Speaker 3: I think that these guys who are expected to perform
- 5:59Speaker 3: and not having a good performance. So I think it
- 6:02Speaker 3: helps some guys, and I don't think it could really
- 6:04Speaker 3: hurt people as much as you think. Like, if you
- 6:06Speaker 3: have a bad combine and you have all of this
- 6:08Speaker 3: great tape and all of these great, you know, accolades
- 6:10Speaker 3: throughout your career, I don't think it hurts you. But
- 6:12Speaker 3: if you're one of these guys who you feel like
- 6:14Speaker 3: is being overlooked and you have a good showing, I
- 6:15Speaker 3: think that it causes some people to start having more
- 6:18Speaker 3: conversations around you.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I think it's really largely about the guys that are
- 6:22Speaker 1: in the middle rounds this is about four to through
- 6:24Speaker 1: seven more than it's about rounds one through three, and
- 6:27Speaker 1: we're seeing more and more of those guys, especially first
- 6:30Speaker 1: round picks bona fide, second round guys that are just saying,
- 6:34Speaker 1: don't I don't need this. I've just been burned by
- 6:36Speaker 1: this so many times. And obviously the forty time is
- 6:38Speaker 1: what gets the most attention. John Ross setting records, he sucked,
- 6:44Speaker 1: Xavier Worthy was great, He's been okay in the NFL.
- 6:48Speaker 2: You go back.
- 6:48Speaker 1: The best example is Jerry Rice so was a four
- 6:51Speaker 1: seven forty that didn't matter. Obviously he's the best receiver
- 6:55Speaker 1: in NFL history. I think of it like a cupcake. Guys,
- 6:58Speaker 1: like if the the film in college is the cake
- 7:02Speaker 1: part the I'm not sure that the combine is the icing.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I think it's the sprinkles. Something else is the character?
- 7:11Speaker 1: Maybe is the icing. The interviews I think, like Stuck
- 7:14Speaker 1: he said, are probably more important than anything. Am I
- 7:17Speaker 1: drafting a piece of shit is important, and then the
- 7:20Speaker 1: combine is just it's data that you don't want to ignore.
- 7:23Speaker 2: But I think it's sprinkles.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Well, I rip the bottom off my cupcake and make
- 7:27Speaker 3: a sandwich. Anyway, So.
- 7:30Speaker 1: The baller move Evan mentioned that Rubin Bain is a
- 7:35Speaker 1: big storyline. Is he's the arm length guy for this year? Kendrick,
- 7:39Speaker 1: can you confirm?
- 7:40Speaker 3: Yeah, So, I've seen a bunch of people. So I
- 7:44Speaker 3: think Mike Golick Junior put out a tweet yesterday saying
- 7:47Speaker 3: that his comp should be Optimus Prime, and I thought
- 7:51Speaker 3: that that was a really good tweet. But yeah, I
- 7:53Speaker 3: think that he's gonna be one of these guys that
- 7:54Speaker 3: people should watch this year. He's been a big trend
- 7:57Speaker 3: on Twitter. But there's a lot of guys that I
- 8:00Speaker 3: think they could go out and have a good showing.
- 8:02Speaker 3: It's it's kind of crazy that we're already in combine season.
- 8:06Speaker 3: But another guy I would look at probably Caden Procter
- 8:09Speaker 3: from Alabama, and then I think that he's going to
- 8:11Speaker 3: have a good showing. And then maybe Ty Simpson also
- 8:14Speaker 3: one of these guys to watch in the combine. If
- 8:16Speaker 3: I could give you three guys to watch, it probably
- 8:17Speaker 3: be Rubin Baine, Kaden Proctor, and Ty Simpson.
- 8:20Speaker 1: He's going to be an interesting one with how weak
- 8:22Speaker 1: this draft classes at quarterback.
- 8:24Speaker 2: See where these guys go. Let's get to a couple.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Of other news items that are coming out of the
- 8:30Speaker 1: media of veils in Indianapolis. Nick Sirianni can't guarantee that
- 8:35Speaker 1: AJ Brown is going to be on the team in
- 8:37Speaker 1: twenty twenty six. We've got Howie Roseman with the GM
- 8:41Speaker 1: kiss of death on his future in Philly.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Quote.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I think you go into your league year listening to
- 8:47Speaker 1: offers for everything and anything. I know this is his mantra,
- 8:51Speaker 1: but I think he used to be more bullish on
- 8:53Speaker 1: AJ Brown forty million dollar dead cap hit if they
- 8:57Speaker 1: trade him before June first, So don't expect this to
- 8:59Speaker 1: have been anytime soon. But Stucky, do you think it
- 9:02Speaker 1: would be a bad move for the Eagles to start
- 9:05Speaker 1: looking elsewhere and let Davonte be the number one guy there?
- 9:11Speaker 5: No, I mean I don't think would be bad to
- 9:12Speaker 5: look considering just how everything went down this year. The
- 9:16Speaker 5: offer's right, the Eagles are going to take it. They've
- 9:18Speaker 5: they generally trade well. Rosmand does a good job, but
- 9:24Speaker 5: maybe they can fix the marriage and you know, with
- 9:26Speaker 5: a new offensive coordinator and an offseason. So it's I
- 9:30Speaker 5: think it's just it's still TBD to see how it
- 9:33Speaker 5: all plays out. There definitely was a rift. Can they
- 9:37Speaker 5: solve it and come together and move on or is
- 9:42Speaker 5: it just better for all parties to separate. I don't know,
- 9:45Speaker 5: we'll find out. I think if the price is right,
- 9:47Speaker 5: they're definitely going to explore it. But if it's not
- 9:52Speaker 5: and they can they feel like they have it under
- 9:54Speaker 5: control in the locker room, then I'm sure they'd be
- 9:58Speaker 5: glad to have a J Brown back. So yeah, a
- 10:00Speaker 5: lot to come there. One of the one of the
- 10:01Speaker 5: key storylines of the NFL off season.
- 10:03Speaker 1: I'm starting to see the superimposed image of AJ Brown
- 10:07Speaker 1: in a Patriots uniform floating around social media. I don't
- 10:11Speaker 1: know if I love the idea, Kendra, of AJ Brown
- 10:13Speaker 1: and Stefan Diggs in the same locker room.
- 10:15Speaker 2: That doesn't sound like a good idea.
- 10:17Speaker 3: I don't think Stephan's going to be a Patriot next
- 10:19Speaker 3: season by any means. I'm very much willing to say
- 10:22Speaker 3: that on whatever day today is, February twenty sixth, I
- 10:24Speaker 3: don't think that he is going to be back on
- 10:26Speaker 3: this team. I think that they're going to go all
- 10:28Speaker 3: in on AJ Brown because of the relationship that him
- 10:31Speaker 3: and Mike Rabel have. He knows the kind of you
- 10:33Speaker 3: know ship that he runs, and I think that that's
- 10:35Speaker 3: really important. So I think that the AJ Brown thing
- 10:38Speaker 3: definitely has some legs. The Patriots have money, they have picks. That's,
- 10:42Speaker 3: you know, one of their main focuses this offseason. It's
- 10:44Speaker 3: going to be that and the trenches for them. So
- 10:47Speaker 3: I could definitely see it happening because AJ Brown is
- 10:50Speaker 3: such a big personality. But if Mike Vrabel can take
- 10:54Speaker 3: a big personality and Stefan Diggs and turn him into
- 10:56Speaker 3: a leader on this team, I don't see why he
- 10:58Speaker 3: can't do the same with AJ Brown.
- 11:00Speaker 4: They love each other, they know each other.
- 11:01Speaker 3: And if that, for some reason doesn't work out, I
- 11:02Speaker 3: think the BTJ thing could probably catch them steam up
- 11:06Speaker 3: here in New England as well.
- 11:08Speaker 1: By the way, new offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 11:12Speaker 1: maybe that changes things. Sean Manyon coming in, I think
- 11:15Speaker 1: he prioritizes play action, which would perhaps get AJ Brown
- 11:19Speaker 1: more involved than whatever Petula was doing. The Dolphins general
- 11:24Speaker 1: manager says that everything's on the table with Tua. I
- 11:27Speaker 1: don't think anybody expects him to still be on the
- 11:29Speaker 1: team next year, but they just have to decide whether
- 11:32Speaker 1: or not they want to swallow this money. Ninety nine
- 11:34Speaker 1: million dollar dead cat pit if they cut him before
- 11:38Speaker 1: June one, that figure would get diced up over a
- 11:41Speaker 1: couple of years. Here percent chance, Kendra that we see
- 11:45Speaker 1: Tua on the Miami Dolphins next season.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I've been very adamant about my stance on this, and
- 11:51Speaker 3: I think that I am going to stay on it.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I really think that we're going to see a Kirk
- 11:57Speaker 3: Cousins Michael Pennock situation in Miami next year. Because there
- 12:00Speaker 3: are a lot of stupid teams in the NFL.
- 12:03Speaker 4: The Jets are one, the Browns are one.
- 12:05Speaker 3: The Bengals, like the Bengals don't need a quarterback, but
- 12:08Speaker 3: there are teams out there who are dumb.
- 12:09Speaker 4: The Bears historically, outside.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Of the last couple of seasons, have been in the
- 12:12Speaker 3: last twenty thirty years, one of the teams that you're like,
- 12:14Speaker 3: what the hell are you guys doing?
- 12:15Speaker 4: Like the Nick Foles thing. When they did that, I
- 12:17Speaker 4: was like, what are you guys doing? So I could
- 12:19Speaker 4: see like a team being dumb enough to do it.
- 12:21Speaker 3: It's just the money and what does he really provide
- 12:24Speaker 3: anybody that needs a quarterback? Like I would rather, I
- 12:27Speaker 3: hate to say it, but I would rather take a
- 12:28Speaker 3: shot with Malik Willis or you know, we talked about
- 12:30Speaker 3: it before we got on here, trying to find the
- 12:32Speaker 3: next dam darnold. Those are things that if I'm a GM,
- 12:35Speaker 3: I would rather take a shot on than someone like Tua.
- 12:37Speaker 4: But that is just me personally.
- 12:40Speaker 3: I think that he's probably going to be, you know,
- 12:43Speaker 3: coaching up a rookie next year around the bench.
- 12:45Speaker 2: You know. Stuck.
- 12:45Speaker 1: One of the differences with Atlanta's an interesting comparison because
- 12:50Speaker 1: they had the veteran and the young guy that they
- 12:53Speaker 1: started that regime together. Oddly enough, it was a very
- 12:57Speaker 1: weird decision that Kirk Cousins was brought in free agency,
- 13:00Speaker 1: Pennix was drafted. This is a new regime in Miami
- 13:05Speaker 1: that I think just wants to hit refresh. That feels
- 13:09Speaker 1: like the motivation here more than anything else. The money
- 13:13Speaker 1: is gonna be the money, but just simply getting the
- 13:15Speaker 1: guys that have been the faces of the franchise at
- 13:17Speaker 1: the building feels like as much a priority as anything.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, you got to start this whole thing over.
- 13:23Speaker 5: There's no the Falcons wanted to win. They wanted to
- 13:25Speaker 5: win that. I don't think the Dolphins have realistic expectations
- 13:28Speaker 5: of doing that. So I mean, yeah, you got to
- 13:30Speaker 5: find a way to move on from Tua. If I
- 13:33Speaker 5: have to talk about the Dolphins one more time in February,
- 13:35Speaker 5: of going to lose my mind. By the way, that's
- 13:39Speaker 5: my stance on the Dolphins.
- 13:41Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Well, if you don't like Dolphins talk, can I interest
- 13:44Speaker 1: you in Jets talk? The Jets and Titans agreed to
- 13:47Speaker 1: a trade this morning. The Jets are sending Jermaine Johnson,
- 13:50Speaker 1: former first round pick. He had three sacks last year,
- 13:54Speaker 1: kind of fell off in terms of the stats with
- 13:57Speaker 1: the New York Jets, but the Jets were terrible, so
- 13:59Speaker 1: hard to just but they traded him to the Titans
- 14:01Speaker 1: for Devandre Sweat Stuck. You give me the schematic breakdown
- 14:06Speaker 1: of how is this a Robert sala fit bringing Johnson
- 14:10Speaker 1: over from New York?
- 14:13Speaker 5: I mean I think that it's it's way better than
- 14:15Speaker 5: what they were doing. I never understood the marriage last year,
- 14:18Speaker 5: and philosophically it didn't make sense. I think this makes
- 14:21Speaker 5: a little bit more sense. I'm not sure that I
- 14:26Speaker 5: would call Glenn's play calling a superpower.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Oh well, he is very comfortable calling it that.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I never thought that was his strength in Detroit, that
- 14:36Speaker 5: wasn't like he was a wizard in that department. Speaking
- 14:41Speaker 5: of superpowers the war, I think we were talking about
- 14:46Speaker 5: the worst superpower that you can have?
- 14:49Speaker 2: Are you starting the mail bag early here?
- 14:52Speaker 5: Did someone ask that in the mailbag?
- 14:54Speaker 2: No? But can we should? We should add that let's
- 14:56Speaker 2: make up a name.
- 14:57Speaker 5: Well, the worst, the worst superpower that you can have?
- 14:59Speaker 5: I think thinking about it.
- 15:01Speaker 2: We weren't going to let you start the mail bag
- 15:03Speaker 2: with your random question.
- 15:04Speaker 5: By the way, yeah, I'll do that next. I think
- 15:06Speaker 5: the worst superpower I think you can have, because a
- 15:08Speaker 5: lot of superpowers, like you think they're going to be great,
- 15:11Speaker 5: and they sound great on the surface, but there's if
- 15:13Speaker 5: you really start to think about it, they could be like,
- 15:17Speaker 5: say you go like supersonic speed, like you would die,
- 15:20Speaker 5: Like you would like think about trying if you could
- 15:22Speaker 5: go like one hundred miles an hour. First, well you'd
- 15:23Speaker 5: like running, you would you would like splatter on some
- 15:26Speaker 5: wall or something. But I think the worst one is
- 15:28Speaker 5: being able to read minds. So sounds cool, but number one,
- 15:33Speaker 5: think about when you think about your mind right now,
- 15:35Speaker 5: all the things that you're thinking about, So like if
- 15:37Speaker 5: you could read you would it would just be this
- 15:38Speaker 5: jumbled mess of all these thoughts. You would you would
- 15:42Speaker 5: be over consumed by it, right, like you would just
- 15:44Speaker 5: be And then I don't think I would ultimately want
- 15:47Speaker 5: to know what everyone is thinking about me at all times.
- 15:49Speaker 3: And I like generation I like grew up on like
- 15:53Speaker 3: Edward Cullen reading Bella's mind, so.
- 15:55Speaker 4: I feel like I have like a different take on this.
- 15:58Speaker 5: Yeah, but that would it would think about some with
- 16:00Speaker 5: like if you were reading people's minds are crazy, They're
- 16:02Speaker 5: all over the place, Like imagine walking to the bar
- 16:04Speaker 5: and you're able to read everyone's mind like they would be.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Have to be able to shut it off though they
- 16:09Speaker 1: would have to be selective mind reading.
- 16:11Speaker 2: I need to know at this moment what this person
- 16:13Speaker 2: is thinking.
- 16:14Speaker 5: I'm going to turn it always you would always end
- 16:16Speaker 5: up turning it on, you know what I mean, Like
- 16:18Speaker 5: you would, Yeah.
- 16:18Speaker 4: But you could also be such a dick to people.
- 16:20Speaker 4: It'd be awesome.
- 16:22Speaker 5: You would be so curious. Also, no one would want
- 16:26Speaker 5: to be around you ever, and people would like, wait.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Could I read my dog's mind?
- 16:36Speaker 5: I would if I could read animals minds, that I would.
- 16:39Speaker 5: I would do that, But I think that would be
- 16:42Speaker 5: the worst superpower for me is mind reading. It would
- 16:45Speaker 5: just become overwhelming and all consuming.
- 16:49Speaker 2: I think it would be invisibility.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I think it would be really tough to not end
- 16:54Speaker 1: up on some sort of red check mark list somewhere,
- 16:59Speaker 1: you know, like if you.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Well, if you if you were creep.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Like you would people would figure out that you're the
- 17:06Speaker 1: guy that could be invisible, and you would be on
- 17:08Speaker 1: a list.
- 17:09Speaker 2: It would be a death sentence.
- 17:11Speaker 5: But again, if you were in if you were invisible,
- 17:17Speaker 5: then like this is why I would not also like
- 17:20Speaker 5: do you know this without like being able to live forever,
- 17:24Speaker 5: Like that would in a way that would defeat the
- 17:25Speaker 5: purpose of life, and like life would suck without any finality,
- 17:29Speaker 5: and like what would you like just living for thousands
- 17:34Speaker 5: of years, Like you would become so reckless, right knowing
- 17:37Speaker 5: that you couldn't die, you would live like this just
- 17:42Speaker 5: you would be so lost. But being invisible, you would
- 17:44Speaker 5: get so curious about everything, right, like, oh, I could
- 17:48Speaker 5: be here, I could be in this like meeting in
- 17:51Speaker 5: the White House, I could go you you wouldn't even
- 17:54Speaker 5: be living life. You would just be all over the place,
- 17:57Speaker 5: like you would have no purpose, no direct And then
- 18:01Speaker 5: like what is what is the actual meaning of your life.
- 18:05Speaker 1: And I think the superpower isn't part of the Like,
- 18:08Speaker 1: I mean, maybe this is just me watching too many
- 18:10Speaker 1: superhero movies.
- 18:11Speaker 2: Isn't part of the idea that you can.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Potentially help people also because you're the one that has
- 18:19Speaker 1: you have super abilities that other people do not have.
- 18:23Speaker 1: No One's like, Hey, I'm in trouble call the invisible guy.
- 18:26Speaker 2: What the fuck is he gonna do?
- 18:28Speaker 3: The invisible boatmobile from SpongeBob.
- 18:32Speaker 5: Yeah, that's true, Kendra, what would uh?
- 18:35Speaker 2: What would you? What's uh? What's the worst one for you?
- 18:41Speaker 4: I don't know. You guys are sitting here, I'm I.
- 18:44Speaker 3: Really read way too many of the Twilight books to hate.
- 18:46Speaker 1: Kendrew's like, what if I could pickle anything? Just start
- 18:49Speaker 1: staring at it.
- 18:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know what the worst one for you
- 18:52Speaker 3: would be. I don't know. I really don't know. I
- 18:56Speaker 3: feel like mind reading sounds terrible, but I also would
- 18:58Speaker 3: love to be able to just people all the time.
- 19:01Speaker 1: Well, it sounds like everybody here is ready for some
- 19:04Speaker 1: mailbag questions, so let's get to it.
- 19:06Speaker 2: First.
- 19:07Speaker 1: A quick word from Kendri Middleton about our partners at DraftKings.

- 19:29Speaker 3: Again, use code favorites when signing up, and bet five
- 19:32Speaker 3: bucks to get two hundred back in bonus bets.
- 19:33Speaker 4: If your bet wins, the crown is yours.
- 19:37Speaker 2: This is from Danny Dimes.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Why are college basketball games or college basketball totals always
- 19:47Speaker 1: less than half of the game total? For example, Duke
- 19:51Speaker 1: was or no. This is for spreads seventeen point favorite
- 19:54Speaker 1: with a total of one forty two, with almost no
- 19:56Speaker 1: chance of overtime or late fouls. Shouldn't the total be
- 19:59Speaker 1: half of the game total? Okay, so this is a
- 20:02Speaker 1: totals question, So Stucky, you're obviously the right one to
- 20:05Speaker 1: answer this question. Why is it that these numbers aren't
- 20:08Speaker 1: just completely cut in half?
- 20:12Speaker 5: Just the distribution of scoring, Like, you can't say there's
- 20:15Speaker 5: no chance of falling at the end. But a lot
- 20:18Speaker 5: of these games, a lot of times are going to
- 20:20Speaker 5: start a little slower. Like you take a Duke Notre
- 20:22Speaker 5: Dame game of the total of like twenty and there's
- 20:24Speaker 5: nuances to this, but like if a total is one forty,
- 20:26Speaker 5: you're generally going to see a first half total of
- 20:28Speaker 5: you know, give or take, I'm rounding your sixty five
- 20:31Speaker 5: second half total around seventy five. But like if you're
- 20:37Speaker 5: a huge underdog, a lot of times you're going to
- 20:39Speaker 5: come out and play slower, right, like really intense half
- 20:44Speaker 5: court defense, and you're trying to like kind of shorten
- 20:48Speaker 5: the game. Then you get down right in the second half,
- 20:50Speaker 5: and then you're trying to like maximize possessions, and then
- 20:53Speaker 5: you play faster. There's a lot of different there's a
- 20:55Speaker 5: lot of reasons. I mean this, We have scoring, we
- 20:58Speaker 5: have data for you know, I can't even tell you
- 21:02Speaker 5: the amount of college basketball games that we have in
- 21:05Speaker 5: history in our databases, but it's just basic distribution of scoring.
- 21:08Speaker 5: And there's many reasons why regardless of the spread that
- 21:12Speaker 5: they're the scoring is going to be you know, give
- 21:15Speaker 5: or take, assume to be about you know, eight nine,
- 21:18Speaker 5: ten points higher in the second half. Part of it
- 21:21Speaker 5: is that is fouling at the end. But like if
- 21:24Speaker 5: you have a spread of you know, you could say,
- 21:26Speaker 5: if you have a spread of one and it's expected
- 21:28Speaker 5: to be like a super close game the entire time,
- 21:32Speaker 5: like then you have no failing, you get up no
- 21:34Speaker 5: failing until like the final five seconds. That's just part
- 21:38Speaker 5: of the equation. And you know, just because the spread
- 21:42Speaker 5: of seventeen doesn't mean there's no chance that notre name
- 21:44Speaker 5: is down nine or ten and starts failing at the end,
- 21:47Speaker 5: and then they're trying to maximize possessions. So there's a
- 21:50Speaker 5: lot of reasons why there's increased scoring on average in
- 21:54Speaker 5: the second half.
- 21:55Speaker 6: Yeah, you're just handicapping the game, Like if you think
- 21:58Speaker 6: it's going to be closer than it doesn't matter as much.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Like as an example, Michigan State per due tonight is
- 22:02Speaker 6: one hundred and forty two and a half, but first
- 22:04Speaker 6: half is sixty seven. Sixty seven times two does an
- 22:07Speaker 6: equal one to forty two and a half. It's just
- 22:09Speaker 6: assuming that the second half has proportionally more scoring, which
- 22:12Speaker 6: is usually the case.
- 22:14Speaker 7: Yep, Yeah, is that plasure?
- 22:16Speaker 1: Is that also a playable in the NCAA tournament with
- 22:18Speaker 1: the increase in the the desperation to win these games.
- 22:26Speaker 2: For sure, second and half over.
- 22:27Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean there's yeah, I mean the conference tournaments
- 22:31Speaker 5: NCIA tournament that you do have an increased chance of
- 22:38Speaker 5: fouls until death. Right now, you have to get in
- 22:43Speaker 5: like the perfect game, like you know, a certain type
- 22:46Speaker 5: of game state for that to happen. But you know
- 22:48Speaker 5: you're not going to stop failing in your final game
- 22:51Speaker 5: of the season, or you might. You might, but you're
- 22:54Speaker 5: you're probably more likely to foul a couple extra possessions
- 22:58Speaker 5: than you might, say in a regular season game you
- 23:00Speaker 5: call off the dogs, but in the first in the
- 23:03Speaker 5: NCAA tournament, you're gonna see a lot of this. Books
- 23:05Speaker 5: have adjusted a bit. I'm not a huge totals player,
- 23:08Speaker 5: but first half unders. People love first half unders in
- 23:12Speaker 5: like the first round of the tournament. I'm sure Evan
- 23:15Speaker 5: will have this in his primer, but you have. There's
- 23:18Speaker 5: a lot of reasons why those can be or have
- 23:23Speaker 5: been profitable in the past in certain instances, especially with
- 23:26Speaker 5: the higher totals going with the first half under, but
- 23:30Speaker 5: books adjusted these over time. But like you have teams,
- 23:33Speaker 5: you're playing on a neutral court, right so you're playing
- 23:35Speaker 5: in like a venue with with new balls. There's you,
- 23:39Speaker 5: there's a you know, you might be playing with the
- 23:40Speaker 5: new ball, and it's the NCAA tournament, right the first game,
- 23:45Speaker 5: there's there's jitters, and you're playing at an odd time.
- 23:49Speaker 5: A lot of times people love the first half unders
- 23:52Speaker 5: of like early tips. But so yeah, the there's a
- 23:58Speaker 5: little bit more of an adjustment for those first half
- 23:59Speaker 5: on I think now in the in the first round
- 24:02Speaker 5: of the tournament. But there's reasons why you would expect
- 24:06Speaker 5: decrease scoring early on, like just teams come out a
- 24:09Speaker 5: little tighter, that the scout, the defensive scout is really advanced.
- 24:16Speaker 5: But most importantly, you know, the time, the venue, the ball,
- 24:21Speaker 5: all those things can lead to slower starts.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Yes, it's twenty first half under NCAA tournament, so there's
- 24:30Speaker 6: something it's.
- 24:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I think early early games.
- 24:34Speaker 1: That's that's the entire tournament, Evan, not just the first round.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Yeah, early games. I think the first game of a
- 24:42Speaker 5: new of a of a you know, a new venue in.
- 24:45Speaker 7: The round of sixty four, eighty eight and sixty nine.
- 24:48Speaker 2: So yeah, let's go to Ryan.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Ryan Zaritt asks the question in the mail bag, what
- 24:54Speaker 1: is your favorite Cinderella story in the history of March Madness.
- 24:57Speaker 1: Another March Madness question, Ryan's is FAU. It's a great option.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Mine would be the other South Florida team, FGCU, which
- 25:06Speaker 1: is not Stunk City twenty thirteen. I'm not far from
- 25:10Speaker 1: where I grew up in South Florida. I had no
- 25:13Speaker 1: idea this college even existed until they started making a
- 25:16Speaker 1: run in the NCAA tournament.
- 25:18Speaker 2: But that was that was a fun one.
- 25:19Speaker 4: To really serious, I did.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Not I had I think there were some people in
- 25:24Speaker 1: my graduating class that went to FGCU, but the letters
- 25:28Speaker 1: just went in one ear and out the other, and
- 25:30Speaker 1: I did not recall that until they made a deep runs.
- 25:33Speaker 2: I think I have some friends that go there, but.
- 25:35Speaker 3: I use so many people that went to FGCU.
- 25:39Speaker 1: It's like West Palm Beach, I think is where it's at. Yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: so that's mine. FGCU. That was a ton of fun.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Dunk City is stuck. You mentioned Kendro. What about you
- 25:47Speaker 1: favorite singer story?
- 25:49Speaker 3: I think Saint Peter's once again. Because of the memes,
- 25:52Speaker 3: do you guys remember the Doug Editt kid and people
- 25:55Speaker 3: every time they won a game, We're just making memes
- 25:58Speaker 3: like you just.
- 25:58Speaker 4: Got beat by Doug. I loved that time.
- 26:01Speaker 3: It was a great time to be on the internet.
- 26:03Speaker 3: It was before AI. It was like when memes were
- 26:05Speaker 3: peak and people actually had thoughts for themselves. And the
- 26:08Speaker 3: whole Peacocks thing that was also epic. So I feel
- 26:10Speaker 3: like I have to say Saint Peter's that was my
- 26:13Speaker 3: boy Doug, and then he left them immediately after that.
- 26:15Speaker 1: What a traitor somebody who has to say Loyola Chicago.
- 26:19Speaker 1: I think we're actually obligating something to say.
- 26:23Speaker 4: I don't I hate Sister Jean.
- 26:25Speaker 2: Oh my god, jeez, hate Sister Jean.
- 26:29Speaker 3: I'm sick of them rolling her corpse out there.
- 26:33Speaker 4: That is not chill. Let her rest. Stop rolling her
- 26:36Speaker 4: corpse out there.
- 26:37Speaker 2: That sounds like resentment towards the college, not towards.
- 26:40Speaker 7: She wanted to be there though she loved the team
- 26:42Speaker 7: so much.
- 26:42Speaker 4: Get it. But like when she was like.
- 26:45Speaker 2: She's a nun. You can't talk shit about nuns.
- 26:49Speaker 4: I have and I will.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Stucky, what about you, favorite Cinderella.
- 26:56Speaker 5: Saint Peter's one of my least favorite. Obviously, wife has
- 27:00Speaker 5: college bars here that are right around University Kentucky. They're
- 27:03Speaker 5: all university Kentucky. They do very well. When University Kentucky
- 27:06Speaker 5: wins in March, it's all anyone cares about the state.
- 27:10Speaker 5: I haven't been doing that much in the tournament lately,
- 27:12Speaker 5: but I that was a Thursday night game and there
- 27:19Speaker 5: was a couple people, a couple of people follow me
- 27:22Speaker 5: on Twitter like, Hey, we want to come sweat some
- 27:23Speaker 5: games with you at the bars in Lexington. So it
- 27:28Speaker 5: was like coming out. They drove from North Carolina, they
- 27:31Speaker 5: got to Lexington, they were coming out. I just said
- 27:34Speaker 5: you could stay in my place for the weekend. They
- 27:36Speaker 5: got to my place at like midnight on Thursday night.
- 27:38Speaker 5: Kentucky had lost to Saint Peter's. So we went out
- 27:41Speaker 5: on Saturday and it was Saint Peter's versus Mary State,
- 27:45Speaker 5: I think instead of Kentucky versus Marquette maybe or someone.
- 27:51Speaker 5: They've both got upset and the bar was empty. It
- 27:54Speaker 5: was awful. But yeah, that was one of my least
- 27:58Speaker 5: favorite I parta golf coast in the running for me.
- 28:00Speaker 5: I love that team. They were just so fun the
- 28:02Speaker 5: way that they played. But I'll go way back to
- 28:07Speaker 5: oh seven George Mason. They went to the They were
- 28:13Speaker 5: an eleven seed that went and obviously gotta mention the
- 28:15Speaker 5: Butler teams. But that Mason run they beat Yukon and
- 28:18Speaker 5: the Elite eight in overtime. I think that was Rudy
- 28:23Speaker 5: Gay was on that team.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Uh, and.
- 28:28Speaker 5: Yeah, that was a super Jim Larnega was the coach
- 28:31Speaker 5: when they went to the final four. That was one
- 28:33Speaker 5: of my favorite runs. And then, yeah, the Butler teams
- 28:39Speaker 5: were always fun. But yeah, I'll go with George Mason.
- 28:43Speaker 5: I think that was was that was that O seven
- 28:45Speaker 5: six O six? But was it like actual that was
- 28:50Speaker 5: the five six team?
- 28:51Speaker 7: You're right?
- 28:52Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, that was fun. They were the I mean
- 28:58Speaker 5: the Colonial team eleven seed. Did you come as the
- 29:03Speaker 5: number one overall seed in the tournament? They knocked him
- 29:05Speaker 5: out in the Elite eight and they were they had
- 29:11Speaker 5: never won a tournament game the school before that year,
- 29:14Speaker 5: and then they went to the final four. That was
- 29:19Speaker 5: that was special. I don't know if we're gonna it's
- 29:22Speaker 5: gonna be really hard to get those types of stories
- 29:24Speaker 5: with the way that, uh everything works now, but shout out.
- 29:29Speaker 5: I think that Lewis and Tony Skin who's now the coach,
- 29:34Speaker 5: they were the stars of that team. But how about you, Evan?
- 29:40Speaker 6: I was gonna say George Mason. I think the one
- 29:42Speaker 6: you should probably mention. I mean, Davidson with Curry was
- 29:45Speaker 6: always fun in two thousand and eight. Uh, the one
- 29:47Speaker 6: I wasn't even born for that I've done like a
- 29:50Speaker 6: little bit of research on. That's really good is LSU
- 29:52Speaker 6: and eighty six eleven Seed beats the one, two and three,
- 29:58Speaker 6: which is pretty fun. I've seen video of it, which
- 30:00Speaker 6: is pretty cool. But I think Davidson and Butler are
- 30:03Speaker 6: at the two and George Mason was going to be mine.
- 30:05Speaker 6: I think VCU should get a little bit of love
- 30:07Speaker 6: as well in twenty eleven, but that was a.
- 30:11Speaker 7: Final four, I think so.
- 30:14Speaker 6: But I just remember first four to Final four and
- 30:17Speaker 6: they were like one of the first teams to do that,
- 30:18Speaker 6: so they should definitely get some love.
- 30:21Speaker 2: Barely Dickinson.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Also, there's a furniture store here where if the Yukon
- 30:28Speaker 3: men's and women's team both make the final, any furniture
- 30:32Speaker 3: you purchase between now and the end of like the
- 30:36Speaker 3: first couple rounds all your furnitures free free flix.
- 30:40Speaker 7: Some love for UMBC as well.
- 30:42Speaker 6: This is a ticket on them to win it all
- 30:44Speaker 6: that I took home that year when they beat Virginia
- 30:46Speaker 6: didn't cash, but fun to have.
- 30:49Speaker 2: How much.
- 30:51Speaker 4: Was it like a dollar?
- 30:53Speaker 7: Five bucks actually on them to win it all?
- 30:55Speaker 6: Eight thousand to one didn't end up cashing, So take
- 30:57Speaker 6: it home with.
- 30:58Speaker 2: Me, all right, Yeah, nice little souvenir.
- 31:01Speaker 1: The next question from Ryan was best sports movie your
- 31:04Speaker 1: favorite sports movie of all time? I will say, I
- 31:08Speaker 1: don't even know if this counts as a hot take
- 31:10Speaker 1: or if this is just common opinion. Baseball movies are
- 31:15Speaker 1: in a class of themselves. There's something about that. Sport
- 31:20Speaker 1: boxing is probably next, but baseball movies, the storytelling, the
- 31:27Speaker 1: way that the game, because it's slow, the game doesn't
- 31:31Speaker 1: feel like it doesn't take you out of the movie.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Football movies really mess with my head because you can't
- 31:37Speaker 1: simulate football. It looks goofy on screen. Basketball movies kind
- 31:42Speaker 1: of middle of the road. But there's something about the
- 31:44Speaker 1: storytelling and the actual real gameplay with in a baseball
- 31:48Speaker 1: movie that's more realistic that I think they stand out
- 31:52Speaker 1: above the rest. So whatever the answer is, for me,
- 31:54Speaker 1: it's definitely a baseball movie. Probably League of their Own
- 31:58Speaker 1: is my favorite. I watch that movie again and again
- 32:02Speaker 1: and again. I think that that's my answer. Kendro what
- 32:05Speaker 1: about you.
- 32:05Speaker 3: I have two answers. One benchwarmers. I don't know if
- 32:08Speaker 3: you guys have seen that movie. Incredible, incredible movie, and then.
- 32:14Speaker 4: I have been laughing at me.
- 32:16Speaker 3: And then two, I'm gonna go bend it like Beckham
- 32:20Speaker 3: because it was like a girl's soccer movie that I
- 32:22Speaker 3: loved when I was a kid. And Kiera Knightley in
- 32:24Speaker 3: that movie was like my sexual awakening her and she
- 32:27Speaker 3: go from Kim possible.
- 32:28Speaker 4: So those are my two answers.
- 32:30Speaker 2: It stucky.
- 32:33Speaker 5: I don't really I'm not a huge movie guy. Like
- 32:36Speaker 5: I told you, I've never watched a movie more than once,
- 32:40Speaker 5: but that's a fact. Nostalgia I'd probably go. I mean,
- 32:45Speaker 5: Moneyball was really good. I thought that was a really
- 32:49Speaker 5: good movie. But nostalgia, I'll go Varsity Blues. That's a
- 32:53Speaker 5: rip James Vanderbeek. By the way, the nineteen there should
- 32:56Speaker 5: be a movie about this nineteen eighty six hours You
- 32:58Speaker 5: team like they that they had three seven footers on
- 33:02Speaker 5: their team before the season started. By the time the
- 33:05Speaker 5: tournament came, they had zero. I think one was academically
- 33:08Speaker 5: an out and left the team. One got hurt. They
- 33:11Speaker 5: had to move a guard to center. They had they
- 33:18Speaker 5: had to like cancel a game, a national televised game
- 33:20Speaker 5: because and they had like a long outbreak of chicken
- 33:23Speaker 5: pox on the team. And then they became an eleven
- 33:27Speaker 5: seat that beat a one, two and three and they
- 33:28Speaker 5: finished nine to nine in the SEC. I mean that
- 33:31Speaker 5: maybe there is a book about them, but uh so,
- 33:34Speaker 5: I'll go Varsity Blues.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Sandlot deserves them engine as well in this childhood.
- 33:40Speaker 4: Believe you haven't seen Bench Warmer's Kravit.
- 33:42Speaker 2: I seen it.
- 33:43Speaker 4: Do you know who John Heater is? Napoleon Dynamite?
- 33:49Speaker 2: Was this like? Is this an old movie or is
- 33:51Speaker 2: this Yeah.
- 33:51Speaker 3: It's like early two thousands. It's like a comedy with
- 33:53Speaker 3: the guy who played Napoleon Dynamite. And then I think
- 33:56Speaker 3: Rob Schneider is in.
- 33:57Speaker 1: It and likes it. This immediately gets thrown in the trash.
- 34:01Speaker 4: I mean a human being. But like back in the day,
- 34:05Speaker 4: his movies were good.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Let's see, it's a good movie. SI on letterbox thirteen
- 34:11Speaker 5: percent rotten Tomatoes.
- 34:13Speaker 7: That's why I had to laugh when she said this.
- 34:15Speaker 4: Evan's so funny.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Evan, what's your what's your favorite sports movie?
- 34:20Speaker 7: I remember The Titans is really good. Rudy's really good.
- 34:24Speaker 6: I went to Indiana, so I have to say, who's yours.
- 34:26Speaker 6: Field of Dreams is also fantastic. Those are probably my
- 34:29Speaker 6: top three, Rudy. The Field of Dreams Remember the Titans,
- 34:33Speaker 6: feels like a decent top three.
- 34:35Speaker 2: That's what I mean about baseball movies.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Field of Dreams, the fact that you can you could
- 34:39Speaker 1: just make them out rush more out of Field of Dreams.
- 34:42Speaker 2: League sand Lot, League of their own if.
- 34:46Speaker 7: You build it the news. The quotes in that movie
- 34:49Speaker 7: are just fantastic.
- 34:50Speaker 4: I remember that I love this movie.
- 34:53Speaker 2: Blindside's all right, Yeah, I remember one that I loved
- 34:57Speaker 2: as a kid.
- 34:57Speaker 5: That's probably so bad. I kind of want watch it,
- 35:00Speaker 5: watch it again. It's probably so bad. And it's so
- 35:04Speaker 5: angels in the outfield. Sure, yes, there's just angels in
- 35:08Speaker 5: the outfield. Plays and stuff for the angels like that
- 35:13Speaker 5: is such an insane I remember loving it when I
- 35:16Speaker 5: was like six, but I don't I can't imagine that
- 35:20Speaker 5: age as well, when you're like watching it if you're older.
- 35:24Speaker 3: Jeremy Maguire, Jerem, I can't believe you guys haven't seen Benchwarmers.
- 35:29Speaker 5: It's so angel outfield.
- 35:32Speaker 4: I haven't seen it.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I had it on VHS when I was a kid.
- 35:36Speaker 1: The Blindside kind of it takes away from the movie
- 35:40Speaker 1: that it turns out that these parents were kind of
- 35:43Speaker 1: pieces of ship.
- 35:44Speaker 4: Oh totally. But it's a good movie.
- 35:46Speaker 1: Yeah, but like you can't, you can't watch that now
- 35:50Speaker 1: because but.
- 35:52Speaker 4: It's because she has no idea what's going on.
- 35:56Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 35:56Speaker 5: The next one is for Fight Lights, although that's one
- 35:59Speaker 5: of my favor shows.
- 36:02Speaker 1: The next one's from Jessica. This one's for Kendra specifically.
- 36:05Speaker 1: She said that she saw you post recently about all
- 36:07Speaker 1: the jobs that you had in sports that got you
- 36:10Speaker 1: to where you are today, which is having this fun
- 36:13Speaker 1: conversation with us on a podcast in college. How did
- 36:16Speaker 1: you balance all of the nighttime and weekend work with
- 36:20Speaker 1: still having fun and when did you have that?
- 36:23Speaker 2: Yeah, I can do this for a living moment.
- 36:25Speaker 3: Okay, this is a really really good question one if
- 36:28Speaker 3: you are a college student or about to be a
- 36:30Speaker 3: college student, my number one piece of advice for you is,
- 36:34Speaker 3: outside of just asking for opportunities from people that can
- 36:37Speaker 3: give them to you get a job at a bar,
- 36:41Speaker 3: because that way you're making money, you get to see
- 36:44Speaker 3: your friends, you get to hang out with your friends,
- 36:45Speaker 3: you don't have fomo or anything.
- 36:47Speaker 4: You can help your friends get into the bar.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Whatever I made money, wasn't hung over the next day
- 36:52Speaker 3: and was still hanging out with my friends.
- 36:54Speaker 4: By getting a.
- 36:54Speaker 3: Job at our favorite bar, that is like the best
- 36:57Speaker 3: thing that I did for myself as far as being
- 36:59Speaker 3: able to to like balance my social life, making money
- 37:02Speaker 3: and work and my yeah, I can do this for
- 37:06Speaker 3: a living moment, I think is.
- 37:07Speaker 4: A little bit different.
- 37:08Speaker 3: I've told this story in ninety eight five before, so
- 37:10Speaker 3: if you listen to me there and you listen to
- 37:12Speaker 3: me here, you've probably heard this before. But in that
- 37:14Speaker 3: same post, I was talking about how I used to
- 37:17Speaker 3: call into ten ten Excel, which is the local sports
- 37:20Speaker 3: radio station in Boston or in a jacksonvill when I
- 37:23Speaker 3: was a kid.
- 37:23Speaker 4: And during the World Cup when I.
- 37:25Speaker 3: Was in fifth grade, I believe they were doing a
- 37:29Speaker 3: giveaway around Mother's Day for a gift card for flowers,
- 37:32Speaker 3: and I was I'm a huge soccer fan, always have been,
- 37:35Speaker 3: and they were asking all of the guys to answer
- 37:38Speaker 3: soccer questions to win this gift card. And I went
- 37:40Speaker 3: to win my mom flowers for Mother's Day, and I
- 37:42Speaker 3: knew all the answers, so my dad like handed me
- 37:44Speaker 3: the phone and he was like, all right, smart ass,
- 37:45Speaker 3: like call in and answer the questions.
- 37:47Speaker 4: So I called in and after.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Like four or five grown men getting the questions wrong, me,
- 37:52Speaker 3: a fifth grader, got all of my questions right and
- 37:55Speaker 3: won my mom flowers. And that was kind of the
- 37:57Speaker 3: first moment that I was like, whoa, Like girls can
- 37:59Speaker 3: know this stuff too, And kind of from that moment
- 38:02Speaker 3: on was like when I knew what I wanted to
- 38:04Speaker 3: do so much so that like when I had my
- 38:06Speaker 3: john plant surgery, they could have just moved all of
- 38:09Speaker 3: my teeth over, but since I knew I wanted to
- 38:10Speaker 3: be in broadcasting, like my parents made the decision to
- 38:14Speaker 3: put a permanent, like proper implant into my joh instead
- 38:18Speaker 3: of doing the easier thing and like moving everything over
- 38:20Speaker 3: because I know and I wanted to do this since
- 38:22Speaker 3: I was in fifth grade.
- 38:23Speaker 1: That's crazy that you've known that you wanted to be
- 38:25Speaker 1: in broadcasting since you were ten.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 38:29Speaker 1: I don't know if this is just me speaking from
- 38:31Speaker 1: personal experience, but I feel for a lot of people
- 38:34Speaker 1: it's something that kind of smacks you over the head
- 38:37Speaker 1: in adulthood that's like, hey, this could be a career path.
- 38:41Speaker 1: But that's crazy that you knew that from the beginning.
- 38:43Speaker 1: What a work up, DJ Stuck. He knew that he
- 38:46Speaker 1: wanted to be a degenerate when he was ten years old.
- 38:48Speaker 1: Definitely had that scouted. I do believe there is a
- 38:53Speaker 1: question about the first thing that we bet on, so
- 38:54Speaker 1: I do want to get to that too. Actually that
- 38:57Speaker 1: is the next one. This is from a him in Mexico,
- 39:01Speaker 1: New Mexico. Sorry, no things getting old hairy in Mexico
- 39:04Speaker 1: right now? Anyway, Can any of you remember the first
- 39:08Speaker 1: bet that you ever made, or maybe one early in
- 39:10Speaker 1: your life that still sticks with you as a great
- 39:13Speaker 1: betting memory? Stucky, first bet ever? Kendrick, could you guess
- 39:18Speaker 1: the age that he's about to spit out to us.
- 39:20Speaker 3: I'm going to say like sixteen in some like Billy
- 39:24Speaker 3: Parking Lot with some books.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I'm gonna got eight years old in the playground now.
- 39:30Speaker 5: The first one I can remember was when I would
- 39:32Speaker 5: have been like, I bet my dad. My me and
- 39:37Speaker 5: my best friend were away with my dad and my
- 39:42Speaker 5: best friend's dad and our dads were best friends too.
- 39:47Speaker 5: We bet them. And my dad is a Duke fan,
- 39:51Speaker 5: and I used to bet my dad like twenty bucks
- 39:54Speaker 5: that the Eagles and Duke would lose like every game
- 39:55Speaker 5: through the nineties, when I don't, but I mean when
- 39:57Speaker 5: I was like eight, nine, ten, But I remember this bet.
- 40:01Speaker 5: I would think I was thirteen. I was in middle school.
- 40:05Speaker 5: I bet them, me and my friend bet our dad's
- 40:11Speaker 5: fifty bucks. And it was a horrible bet because it's
- 40:14Speaker 5: fifty bucks straight up that Connecticut would beat Duke in
- 40:19Speaker 5: ninety nine in the National Championship, and they did, but
- 40:23Speaker 5: they were like ten point dolls. We got horrendous odds.
- 40:29Speaker 5: Can you pull up what were the odds on that, Evan,
- 40:31Speaker 5: Can you pull that up? I think they were like
- 40:32Speaker 5: catching them. They were like nine point underdogs that do
- 40:34Speaker 5: that Duke teams I time. Uh, that was the first
- 40:39Speaker 5: one that I could remember. But then so then I
- 40:41Speaker 5: started maybe by because I won this bet of this underdog.
- 40:46Speaker 5: That was that one outright. I went down like eighth, ninth,
- 40:52Speaker 5: tenth grade, like doing the dumbest bets like everyone does
- 40:57Speaker 5: when they first start betting. I have no idea what
- 40:59Speaker 5: they're doing, but I remember remember opening uh a boadog
- 41:04Speaker 5: account and then would bet nothing but pleasers, which are
- 41:10Speaker 5: reverse teasers where you would just sell points. You would
- 41:15Speaker 5: just sell points on each side and would just lose
- 41:18Speaker 5: constantly until I decided I wanted to try and take
- 41:23Speaker 5: it serious, and then that was the whole endeavor. But
- 41:27Speaker 5: that was the first one that I can remember like
- 41:30Speaker 5: where it was actual cash, and I remember we put
- 41:34Speaker 5: it up like we had our I think we had
- 41:37Speaker 5: like our allowance money, and then we got it at
- 41:41Speaker 5: the end, but we got terrible lot. It was probably
- 41:43Speaker 5: one of the best with the worst bets of over
- 41:44Speaker 5: made in my life.
- 41:45Speaker 2: But it one.
- 41:46Speaker 5: Yeah, Connecticut even money to win that game, catching nine.
- 41:48Speaker 2: And a half on that one. When did you start?
- 41:53Speaker 2: When did you actually start betting?
- 41:55Speaker 1: I think that's a question that a lot of people,
- 41:56Speaker 1: if they don't know the answer to, would love to know.
- 41:58Speaker 5: I mean, I was like I just said, I was
- 42:00Speaker 5: like no, But I.
- 42:01Speaker 2: Don't mean that.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I mean when you that sort of the same question
- 42:05Speaker 1: for Kendra, When did you have that moment, that aha
- 42:08Speaker 1: moment where you go, I think I could do this
- 42:11Speaker 1: for a living. I think I could make a career
- 42:13Speaker 1: out of this. When did that click for you?
- 42:17Speaker 5: I don't think there's like a moment, just iterative. Over time,
- 42:22Speaker 5: you just get better and better and obviously as I
- 42:24Speaker 5: get older and smarter, and like, I just started to
- 42:28Speaker 5: take it suit more serious. I would. I've always followed
- 42:31Speaker 5: sports closely, and then I started posting on like forums
- 42:35Speaker 5: with write ups. But then, you know, obviously I went
- 42:37Speaker 5: to I went to college, was in finance, revetus analysts.
- 42:41Speaker 5: I got my CFA Masters and finance, and like, I
- 42:43Speaker 5: became more. I became just a much more intelligent person.
- 42:50Speaker 5: And uh, but I was tired of losing, so I,
- 42:56Speaker 5: you know, would and talk to people, talk to winning better,
- 43:00Speaker 5: just become better over time. Still a process, process every day.
- 43:05Speaker 5: It's one of the things I love about it. I mean,
- 43:06Speaker 5: I'm talking about five years ago, and I'm like, the
- 43:15Speaker 5: goal the gold is like the gold mine is to
- 43:18Speaker 5: hit like fifty five percent. Like You're you're never gonna
- 43:21Speaker 5: get hit one hundred percent. You're never going to master
- 43:24Speaker 5: this completely. And you're like the markets are getting more efficient.
- 43:29Speaker 5: Things change sports change rules, change marks become more efficient.
- 43:33Speaker 5: You have to adapt. It's a free battle, and I
- 43:37Speaker 5: love that every day is different, every game is different.
- 43:43Speaker 5: Pete Carroll, I never get tired of it. I still
- 43:47Speaker 5: love the sweat. Some people live been bedding forever and
- 43:50Speaker 5: I hate the sweat. I love the sweat I have
- 43:53Speaker 5: to watch.
- 43:54Speaker 4: I hate it. I hate it.
- 43:56Speaker 7: It's a great feeling.
- 43:58Speaker 5: I love the I love the grind, love the pre
- 44:00Speaker 5: I actually love like the grind of like all of
- 44:04Speaker 5: the work, even more than the sweat. But I love
- 44:06Speaker 5: the sweat too. So yeah, so labor of love. When
- 44:12Speaker 5: I stopped love, when I stopped loving it, I'll stop
- 44:14Speaker 5: doing it.
- 44:16Speaker 1: I took a big step in my sports betting last night.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I had about three bets going in the NBA, and
- 44:20Speaker 1: I was watching the one one of the games that
- 44:23Speaker 1: I did not have a wager on because of just
- 44:25Speaker 1: my general interest in the game itself, which is very rare.
- 44:29Speaker 1: I think that's the first time I've ever done that
- 44:31Speaker 1: where I've had action and chose to watch a game
- 44:34Speaker 1: I had no action on. That feels like sports betting
- 44:37Speaker 1: growth for me. That was. That was a big That
- 44:40Speaker 1: was and that was just a few hours ago. Yeah,
- 44:42Speaker 1: thank you very much. Yeah, that sort of you mentioned
- 44:46Speaker 1: always learning that self. One of the things I'm picking
- 44:49Speaker 1: up is that I used to always think you just
- 44:52Speaker 1: had to have this unwavering self confidence in order to
- 44:55Speaker 1: bet at a high level.
- 44:57Speaker 2: But it's the.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Balance of self confidence and self doubt. If you don't
- 45:01Speaker 1: have self doubt, you are going to flame out and fail.
- 45:05Speaker 1: You have to constantly question whether or not you're actually
- 45:08Speaker 1: good at this. Otherwise your your ego is gonna get
- 45:12Speaker 1: too bloated and then and then you're gonna flop and
- 45:14Speaker 1: then you lose all of your confidence because you've tied
- 45:16Speaker 1: your identity to this false sense of confidence.
- 45:18Speaker 2: That's my psycho.
- 45:19Speaker 5: Oh yeah, the mental side of it is even it's
- 45:25Speaker 5: just as hard as losing.
- 45:26Speaker 7: Figuring out like why you lose to me?
- 45:28Speaker 5: Yeah, then you don't want to be too overconfident, but
- 45:31Speaker 5: you also don't want to be you don't want to
- 45:35Speaker 5: have too little confidence. It's just like because you go
- 45:39Speaker 5: on a losing streak, right, like you can't get gun shy.
- 45:43Speaker 5: You also just can't say like, oh this isn't working,
- 45:45Speaker 5: I'm gonna scrap everything. And you have to understand also,
- 45:47Speaker 5: like that's that's where map comes in, Like under like
- 45:51Speaker 5: you just said, understanding of why there's good. You're gonna
- 45:54Speaker 5: go through months, seasons, years where you lose, like's gonna happen.
- 45:59Speaker 5: Then you have to determine, Okay, what do I have
- 46:02Speaker 5: to change or do I have to change anything? Is
- 46:04Speaker 5: this this a variance or not? And then dealing with
- 46:07Speaker 5: the streaks, is that's something I'm I'm pretty good at now.
- 46:13Speaker 5: It eats me alive when because I know that people
- 46:15Speaker 5: follow me. That's what I hate.
- 46:16Speaker 4: But like that's what I was just gonna bring up.
- 46:19Speaker 5: But I've I've seen every single streak you can imagine.
- 46:22Speaker 5: I'm like, oh, in eighteen days, couldn't you know month,
- 46:26Speaker 5: like a whole month where I just seemed like years
- 46:30Speaker 5: where nothing goes There's a whole year where and almost
- 46:33Speaker 5: everything goes against you. Then you have a year where
- 46:34Speaker 5: like everything goes for you. So yeah, just staying like
- 46:40Speaker 5: even keeled. I'm a pretty logical person. I think it's important.
- 46:44Speaker 5: But yeah, there's that so much, so much comes with experience.
- 46:49Speaker 5: It's crazy. But like you're you're I'm never even gonna
- 46:52Speaker 5: be come close to like knowing getting to the point
- 46:57Speaker 5: where I want to get to. But just like every
- 46:59Speaker 5: day you kind of add to your bank and Mike,
- 47:03Speaker 5: You'll just you just keep learning. It's but you're you're
- 47:06Speaker 5: like you're just talking like really small gains and you're
- 47:09Speaker 5: but the market's also adjusting. It's a crazy race.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Yeah, Kendre, you mentioned the I saw you react to that,
- 47:16Speaker 1: the the psychological mental health aspect of actually being a
- 47:22Speaker 1: front facing sports better that people rely on. Not that
- 47:26Speaker 1: I expect anyone to cry tears for us, don't, but
- 47:31Speaker 1: that is that it that is that part tougher losing
- 47:36Speaker 1: for other people than losing for yourself.
- 47:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that that's the part that sticks with me,
- 47:41Speaker 3: is that like, no way, when you're just doing it
- 47:44Speaker 3: for yourself, it's like fun and like you're just tracking
- 47:47Speaker 3: you and nobody else and nothing matters.
- 47:49Speaker 4: But then when you become.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Like a stucky of this or you were me or
- 47:54Speaker 3: someone bigger than us or like whatever, it's like knowing
- 47:57Speaker 3: people are putting their harder and dollar on something that
- 48:01Speaker 3: you have said, and then they get upset with you,
- 48:04Speaker 3: or you just feel like you're letting someone down, or
- 48:06Speaker 3: people yell at you or get mean or whatever. It's
- 48:09Speaker 3: like I think that that's the hardest part is like
- 48:11Speaker 3: not realizing that one were people on the other side
- 48:15Speaker 3: of the screen, but two, like we're also trying our hardest.
- 48:18Speaker 4: Then like three, you don't.
- 48:19Speaker 3: Have to follow us, but like at the same time,
- 48:22Speaker 3: like we put ourselves in this position. So it's like,
- 48:24Speaker 3: I know that I did this to myself, and I
- 48:26Speaker 3: wouldn't change my career or this job or anything. But
- 48:28Speaker 3: like knowing that you disappoint people or like lose them
- 48:31Speaker 3: money literally keeps me up at night.
- 48:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:34Speaker 1: And I would just say to anybody out there, and
- 48:36Speaker 1: I've I've had to have this conversation with myself. Fall
- 48:39Speaker 1: any whoever it is that you follow, and if it's
- 48:42Speaker 1: multiple people, if it's one person, don't fall in love
- 48:44Speaker 1: with their picks, fall in love with their process. If
- 48:46Speaker 1: you fall in love with the process, then I think one,
- 48:52Speaker 1: you're not living and dying with every selection. It's the Yeah,
- 48:57Speaker 1: it's the journey that gets you to that pick. Yeah,
- 49:00Speaker 1: and somebody else's process can also help you make a
- 49:02Speaker 1: different selection that they didn't even necessarily tee up.
- 49:04Speaker 4: So that's yeah.
- 49:05Speaker 2: I would just say that to anybody listening. It's process
- 49:07Speaker 2: over results.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I always tell people on my Saturday show, I'm not
- 49:11Speaker 3: here to just tell you things for you to follow them.
- 49:15Speaker 3: If I say something that sells you want to pick,
- 49:17Speaker 3: take it. If I say something that makes you want
- 49:19Speaker 3: to get on the other side, there's a reason that
- 49:21Speaker 3: that happened. Take that side of it. Like I tell people,
- 49:24Speaker 3: do not just blindly follow me. I'm going to tell
- 49:26Speaker 3: you how I arrived to this thought, and if you agree, good.
- 49:30Speaker 3: If you disagree, take the other side of it. My
- 49:32Speaker 3: job is to not just sit here and say take this, this,
- 49:34Speaker 3: and this. I'm here to show you my process. You
- 49:37Speaker 3: find your own. We bounce off of each other and
- 49:39Speaker 3: maybe we get some wins.
- 49:40Speaker 1: So I wanted to share two stories on this question.
- 49:43Speaker 1: My first I don't remember my first bet, but I
- 49:45Speaker 1: remember the first routine that I had in betting was
- 49:49Speaker 1: I would catch up with my grandmother who lived in Baltimore,
- 49:53Speaker 1: over the FOT phone on Monday nights and after school.
- 49:57Speaker 2: We would talk about whatever's going on in our.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Lives, and then at the end of the call, we
- 50:01Speaker 1: would make a bet on the Monday night football game.
- 50:04Speaker 4: It wasn't spread related.
- 50:07Speaker 1: I would take a side, she would take a side,
- 50:09Speaker 1: and then I would run down stairs and I would
- 50:12Speaker 1: bet my dad the other side.
- 50:14Speaker 2: So I was basically like arbitraging at a very.
- 50:18Speaker 7: You were running a boiler room in your own apartment.
- 50:20Speaker 7: That's what it really was happening.
- 50:21Speaker 1: I was guaranteeing myself some victories. Yes, and then my
- 50:26Speaker 1: and then win or lose, my grandmother would send me
- 50:28Speaker 1: five bucks. So it was definitely ROI wise, best sports
- 50:32Speaker 1: betting operation I ever had. And then the most memorable
- 50:38Speaker 1: memorable bet I ever made was twenty thirteen. I bet
- 50:43Speaker 1: after FSU beat Pitt in the season opener that was
- 50:46Speaker 1: Jameis Winston's debut. I made a bet that day that
- 50:51Speaker 1: they would win the National Championship. I was working at
- 50:54Speaker 1: a bar at the time. It was a pool bar outside,
- 50:58Speaker 1: and it was the night of the National Champmpionship game
- 51:00Speaker 1: against Auburn, and it was freezing outside, and I kept
- 51:05Speaker 1: calling nobody was outside. I had zero customers. Even management
- 51:09Speaker 1: wouldn't come outside because it was so cold, and I
- 51:12Speaker 1: kept calling the inside. This was at a hotel, so
- 51:16Speaker 1: I was like off the beaten path at this pool bar,
- 51:19Speaker 1: and I kept calling my manager saying, will you please
- 51:21Speaker 1: close the bar? Nobody's here, and they would refuse to
- 51:25Speaker 1: do it, and so I took it upon myself to
- 51:30Speaker 1: close the bar with nobody approving that, and I raced
- 51:35Speaker 1: home and I caught the entire game. I caught a
- 51:38Speaker 1: lot of shit for it at work. Didn't end up
- 51:39Speaker 1: getting fired for that. But then FSU won on the
- 51:43Speaker 1: final play and it was worth every single penny. So
- 51:46Speaker 1: that that's one that I'll never forget.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Kendrew, you said you have another one.
- 51:52Speaker 4: I have two thoughts on this quickly.
- 51:55Speaker 3: The first bet that I can ever remember making was
- 51:57Speaker 3: not a sports bet my dad, and it took me
- 52:01Speaker 3: to get barbecue at this place in Florida called Bono's.
- 52:03Speaker 4: I don't you might know.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Bonos Crabits now, Okay, it's like a Florida like North Florida,
- 52:08Speaker 3: probably barbecue chain. And I was probably in like second
- 52:12Speaker 3: or third grade, and I wanted the big plate of
- 52:14Speaker 3: barbecue cheese fries and my dad was like, there's no
- 52:17Speaker 3: way in hell you're gonna eat an entire.
- 52:19Speaker 4: Adult like barbecue cheese fry.
- 52:22Speaker 3: And I was like, wanta bet and he was like, yeah,
- 52:24Speaker 3: if you eat this entire plate, I'll give you twenty
- 52:26Speaker 3: bucks and I'll buy you a new build of Bear.
- 52:28Speaker 3: And so I ate the whole plate of cheese fries.
- 52:31Speaker 3: I said, okay, done, and he goes. He was like
- 52:33Speaker 3: in shock, and then I threw everything back up on
- 52:35Speaker 3: the table and I was like, you didn't say I
- 52:38Speaker 3: had to keep it down, and so he gave me
- 52:40Speaker 3: my twenty bucks and then came home two days later
- 52:42Speaker 3: with a pig from Build a Bear named Cheese Fry.
- 52:45Speaker 3: And that is the first time I ever remember gambling
- 52:48Speaker 3: on anything in my life or betting on anything.
- 52:50Speaker 4: And then when I started.
- 52:51Speaker 3: To get into sports bedding, I was working at the
- 52:53Speaker 3: bar that I was at at Auburn, and I always
- 52:57Speaker 3: used to come in in.
- 52:58Speaker 4: Like sports gears.
- 53:00Speaker 3: So whether it was like Jags or like a team
- 53:01Speaker 3: that I worked for or covered or like whatever, I
- 53:03Speaker 3: would just come in sports gear because I've always collected it.
- 53:06Speaker 3: And guys would always be like, do you even know
- 53:08Speaker 3: whose shirt you're wearing? Do you even know whose jersey
- 53:10Speaker 3: you're wearing? Blah blah blah. And so I started betting
- 53:13Speaker 3: with those guys on the games that were playing that
- 53:15Speaker 3: night on the TVs and the bars, and I started
- 53:18Speaker 3: fleecing people.
- 53:19Speaker 4: I even bet a kid one time.
- 53:20Speaker 3: I was like, if you win, I'll give you free
- 53:22Speaker 3: drinks for the rest of the semester, but if I win,
- 53:23Speaker 3: you have to give me your entire adderall prescription for
- 53:26Speaker 3: the month. And so that was kind of how I
- 53:29Speaker 3: got into sports betting. Was like guys coming in not
- 53:33Speaker 3: thinking I knew dick about sports, and I would be like,
- 53:36Speaker 3: all right, let's bet on this game right now, and
- 53:38Speaker 3: they would have to leave me big tips and I
- 53:40Speaker 3: would either have to give them free drinks for the
- 53:42Speaker 3: weekend or whatever. And so that's kind of how I
- 53:44Speaker 3: got into like the sports betting world was fleecing men
- 53:48Speaker 3: at the bar that I worked at.
- 53:50Speaker 1: I think that that we should continue that trend with
- 53:52Speaker 1: your haters in the comment section.
- 53:55Speaker 4: That would be fun.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Kendra versus or haters? Can we write that down
- 53:59Speaker 1: as an idea for me?
- 54:00Speaker 4: I really like that, that would be fun.
- 54:02Speaker 1: Let's let's wrap this with Lawrence from Topeka. What was
- 54:06Speaker 1: your first kiss and how did it happen? Obviously everybody
- 54:12Speaker 1: wants to know, Stucky and I's answer to this more
- 54:16Speaker 1: than anybody mine.
- 54:19Speaker 2: Her name was Michelle. She was my friend.
- 54:21Speaker 1: I was a dork in middle school and so I
- 54:25Speaker 1: just I just needed to get it out of the way.
- 54:28Speaker 1: And I think I may have asked her and she
- 54:30Speaker 1: said yes, and it was.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 54:35Speaker 2: It was just you know, like, hey, could you help
- 54:37Speaker 2: me out.
- 54:38Speaker 1: I gotta kind of like get over this hump, and
- 54:40Speaker 1: we like walked to the stop sign. It was very
- 54:43Speaker 1: romantic and then we never kissed again. So I don't
- 54:46Speaker 1: even know if that means that I was bad at
- 54:47Speaker 1: it or what. But uh, that's that's my story, Stucky.
- 54:52Speaker 2: Yes, that's all I need.
- 54:55Speaker 4: Taste of the cravts I was.
- 54:57Speaker 5: I was in middle school. My my friend, my neighbor,
- 55:00Speaker 5: one of my best friends. It was my next door neighbor,
- 55:03Speaker 5: his older sister, and it.
- 55:05Speaker 4: Was your best friend's older sister.
- 55:08Speaker 5: Yeah, we were just we were playing. We were playing.
- 55:11Speaker 5: We were playing truth or there, and then.
- 55:15Speaker 2: The original sports betting game to.
- 55:18Speaker 5: Get this piece of grass, I put a long piece
- 55:22Speaker 5: of grass in my mouth and I said, I, dare
- 55:24Speaker 5: you get this piece of grass out of my mouth?
- 55:26Speaker 5: So it's kind of implied, and then we kissed. Uh
- 55:31Speaker 5: that was That was my first kiss.
- 55:35Speaker 8: A trick, I guess, such a Kentucky thing to do too.
- 55:40Speaker 8: This is Philly, Okay, it was foreshadowing, Evan, what about you.
- 55:47Speaker 7: Definitely a camp.
- 55:49Speaker 6: I went to a bunch of camp sleep boy camps
- 55:51Speaker 6: and stuff like that. I was probably like in middle school.
- 55:54Speaker 6: I honestly don't remember who, but I definitely was like
- 55:56Speaker 6: the Canteen or something like that. I just remember having
- 55:59Speaker 6: the feeling and yeah, because.
- 56:00Speaker 7: I also wanted your old boys school. I also want
- 56:03Speaker 7: to an old boys school.
- 56:04Speaker 6: So it had to have been like either at like
- 56:06Speaker 6: a dance or like meeting somebody outside of it, or
- 56:09Speaker 6: like at a sleep boy camp.
- 56:10Speaker 2: But it was definitely we're not here to judge, Okay.
- 56:12Speaker 6: Nona, I had to explain though. I mean, you got
- 56:14Speaker 6: to get into a little bit of detail there, all.
- 56:17Speaker 1: Right, Kenja. Obviously nobody cares. Yeah, nobody cares about our
- 56:22Speaker 1: answer to this question.
- 56:23Speaker 2: Go ahead.
- 56:23Speaker 3: I was really close with the baseball team in school,
- 56:26Speaker 3: and so I always would hang out with them after school.
- 56:29Speaker 4: We would like walk home and hang out at.
- 56:32Speaker 3: These twins Michael and Jimmy's house, and I like climbed
- 56:36Speaker 3: up in a tree and was like hanging out with
- 56:38Speaker 3: Michael in the tree, and he was once again truth
- 56:42Speaker 3: dared me to kiss him.
- 56:43Speaker 4: So I was in a tree.
- 56:45Speaker 3: Kissed him and his dad My entire life has been
- 56:48Speaker 3: at the local sports anchor of my hometown radio station
- 56:52Speaker 3: in Jacksonville, and he's made me regret it every single
- 56:55Speaker 3: day since with his stupid takes. I can't believe that
- 56:58Speaker 3: I gave his kid the satisfaction of kissing me.
- 57:01Speaker 2: The power of Truth or Dare?
- 57:03Speaker 1: And yeah, does anyone have a memory of the truth
- 57:08Speaker 1: side of that game? Any any quality memory that comes
- 57:12Speaker 1: from truth or dare is comes out of the dare side?
- 57:16Speaker 4: I can't.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I mean yes, but mine. What do you guys know
- 57:19Speaker 3: what chat roulette is?
- 57:21Speaker 7: I've heard of it.
- 57:23Speaker 3: My friends and I used to love chat roulette when
- 57:25Speaker 3: we were in middle school, and like we would just go
- 57:27Speaker 3: and like do stupid stuff.
- 57:28Speaker 4: And I remember whenever the guys who would pop up
- 57:32Speaker 4: with their.
- 57:32Speaker 3: Like penis out would come up, we would like purposely.
- 57:35Speaker 4: Fuck with them.
- 57:36Speaker 3: And we decided to play truth or Dare with one
- 57:38Speaker 3: of the guys one time, and we just like made
- 57:40Speaker 3: fun of him and then he hung up on us,
- 57:42Speaker 3: and it was like a truth, tell me a truth
- 57:44Speaker 3: about something, and like we were like here, penis sucks.
- 57:50Speaker 4: Shout out the chat roulette days.
- 57:53Speaker 5: Yes, by the way, before we get out my my
- 57:55Speaker 5: weird question, Hey, this is a dumb question.
- 58:00Speaker 7: Ask you a personal question kind of question?
- 58:02Speaker 2: Is that is question?
- 58:05Speaker 5: What is one tip or hot take you have on food?
- 58:08Speaker 5: So like advice you're like you need to do this
- 58:12Speaker 5: when you're cooking this, or like something that everyone needs
- 58:14Speaker 5: to do that they do do not do like I
- 58:20Speaker 5: I'll throw out mine. So like salt, people use salt
- 58:24Speaker 5: A lot of this is to me im proved by salt,
- 58:25Speaker 5: especially when you're cooking pasta. Put a ton of salt
- 58:28Speaker 5: in the passable. You think it's enough, it's not. Put
- 58:30Speaker 5: in more. Same thing with butter. You wonder how potatoes
- 58:32Speaker 5: are good at the restaurants. Like you're making mastraata, put
- 58:34Speaker 5: in butter. You think it's enough, putting more and then
- 58:36Speaker 5: double that. Lemon. People don't know how much let just
- 58:40Speaker 5: a little bit of lemon can make a dish. Use
- 58:43Speaker 5: chicken thighs over chicken breast. Chicken thies are so much better,
- 58:45Speaker 5: it's incredible. Use good olive oil if you can. Basic
- 58:50Speaker 5: olive oil is trash. And then the most part. I
- 58:52Speaker 5: want to slow cook your scrambled eggs, like just literally
- 58:55Speaker 5: take the pan, put it on really low, move it
- 58:58Speaker 5: off the burner, put it on, take your time. There's
- 59:02Speaker 5: so much better. It's worth worth the weight those her
- 59:05Speaker 5: mind of sucky basic cooking things. But you have one
- 59:11Speaker 5: thing where you're like you gotta do this, or.
- 59:14Speaker 4: I was I didn't take this as like you have
- 59:16Speaker 4: to do this. You said, like a food hot take.
- 59:18Speaker 3: And the first thing that came to my mind was
- 59:20Speaker 3: that chicken palm is mid as fuck. It's so there's
- 59:25Speaker 3: it's like nearly impossible to have a bad one. Like
- 59:27Speaker 3: the drop off between a bad chicken parm and a
- 59:30Speaker 3: good chicken parm is not that significant because it's literally
- 59:33Speaker 3: just fried chicken, cheese and sauce.
- 59:34Speaker 4: Like, it's not that hard to fuck up.
- 59:36Speaker 5: Yes, but you can have exceptional chicken parm like that.
- 59:40Speaker 4: One's not that far off from the best one.
- 59:42Speaker 5: No, But like chicken parm, you homemake the pasta, You
- 59:46Speaker 5: make the sauce, and you know how to cook the chicken, right,
- 59:51Speaker 5: But homemade pasta can make all the difference.
- 59:53Speaker 4: Overrated.
- 59:54Speaker 1: I think Kendrin might be onto something here. I do
- 59:57Speaker 1: like a good frozen chicken palm, it's.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: Not that far off from the best one you've ever had.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: It's it's definitely a drop off, but it's you're right,
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the drop off is not that steep. I think mine
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: would be don't don't cut into your meat when you're.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: The end, all right, That'll be.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: If you're grilling a steak, if you're grilling burgers, do
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: not poke and prod your meat.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: That is the number one piece of advice that I.
- 1:00:25Speaker 7: That's a good quote card for this episode.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Egg Plant farm is better than chicken and deal porm.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: By the way, if it's done right, haven't you.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: The French toast?
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: You know, I was I was trying to I was
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: trying to end on us in the roulette game, don't
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: you meat?
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: Don't not knowing benchwarmers and chat roulette and omegle is
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: really killing me.
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: Burn your vegetables, yes, burn your vegetables.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: Burned vegetables are gas.
- 1:00:53Speaker 7: Burn your vegetables a little bit of lemon.
- 1:00:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't disagree.
- 1:00:57Speaker 7: That's all.
- 1:00:58Speaker 5: That's it.
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it for today's episode.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: They're right about that special thanks to the producers and
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: to all of you for chiming in with your mailbag questions.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: We'll definitely do that again a few more times before
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: the twenty twenty six NFL season gets started, and we
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: got some time before that. Shout out to Gifford Gould
