Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hello everybody, Welcome back to episode number two of the
- 0:06Speaker 1: Ruffling the Feathers podcast. We are back, ready and willing
- 0:11Speaker 1: and able to go for your NFL training camp update.
- 0:15Speaker 1: My name is Talent Master Jay and I am joined
- 0:18Speaker 1: once again by my two co hosts, Brandon ak As
- 0:22Speaker 1: Kanta and Hey sus Aka super Nova. Gentlemen, what is
- 0:26Speaker 1: going on this Sunday evening wherever you may be.
- 0:31Speaker 2: I've spent all day long grinding away at a lovely
- 0:36Speaker 2: and wonderful legal thesis paper for my education program, so
- 0:42Speaker 2: my brain is currently mush, But as far as my
- 0:45Speaker 2: Sunday is concerned, I'm ready to see what we can
- 0:48Speaker 2: rowl up here in the sports world today with any
- 0:50Speaker 2: of our listeners.
- 0:53Speaker 3: I don't know what most of you are going to
- 0:54Speaker 3: be watching this on a video form because both Talent
- 0:57Speaker 3: and Askata I can't see my camera, but it's it's
- 1:00Speaker 3: still hot where I'm at, because screw the sunscrew the summer,
- 1:03Speaker 3: because not only are you alone all the time, not
- 1:05Speaker 3: only are you not with your friends, you get like
- 1:08Speaker 3: the weird feeling of not being part of something greater
- 1:11Speaker 3: until like we've made up today and otherwise other than
- 1:14Speaker 3: watching summer Slam. At the time of this recording, it's
- 1:17Speaker 3: just been mad for me, you know, nothing really too
- 1:19Speaker 3: exciting to just happy to be here and actually happy
- 1:21Speaker 3: to do content for you know, this episode, which I'm
- 1:25Speaker 3: also doing with a site. Note, we're only three weeks
- 1:27Speaker 3: away from the high school football season, and I'm so
- 1:29Speaker 3: ready for it.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I mean, we're three weeks away from that, Hayes sues,
- 1:33Speaker 1: we are ready for everything football related. The best time
- 1:36Speaker 1: of year is back, and ladies and gentlemen, I think
- 1:40Speaker 1: it's safe to say this was the last Sunday without
- 1:43Speaker 1: football for the rest of the year.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Thank god, dear God.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's so beautiful. It's so beautiful.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Depends on who you ask. Honestly, there are some franchises
- 1:56Speaker 3: that do have up and then you have others where
- 1:57Speaker 3: it's like.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Why, I mean, I don't even think they care, even
- 2:02Speaker 1: though they know their teams are gonna be horrible this year.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Cough cough, Jet fans, Jets are gonna jet. There's a
- 2:11Speaker 1: reason that their uh tagline is just and the season.
- 2:17Speaker 3: But that already, yes, you take it. Cannot tell, but
- 2:23Speaker 3: both talent and this skata can see me smiling at
- 2:25Speaker 3: the camera.
- 2:28Speaker 4: My god, I love it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But guys, we have been having a great time just
- 2:34Speaker 1: in the opening of episode two, and we want to
- 2:37Speaker 1: thank everybody who listened to our first episode ever of
- 2:41Speaker 1: Ruffling the Feathers. We posted it last week. We got
- 2:45Speaker 1: a couple of views, so thank you to those viewers
- 2:48Speaker 1: very much for your support. We are uploading these video
- 2:52Speaker 1: these podcasts every chance that we get, and honestly, outside
- 2:57Speaker 1: of that, I know we spoke about it in the
- 3:00Speaker 1: pre show, gentlemen, but last week, I know some of
- 3:04Speaker 1: the viewers may have seen a little bit of an
- 3:06Speaker 1: issue with maybe some audio cutting out. I think it's
- 3:10Speaker 1: safe to say that we may or may not have
- 3:12Speaker 1: had some Internet issues.
- 3:14Speaker 2: No, oh god, it's so many Internet issues.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Well, why don't you let them tell? Why don't you
- 3:22Speaker 1: tell the viewers, Brandon, what happened with the internet?
- 3:26Speaker 2: So I live out in the lovely parts of eastern
- 3:31Speaker 2: North Carolina where I basically just live in the woods
- 3:35Speaker 2: and our lovely spectrum provider. It's not so great out here.
- 3:41Speaker 2: It's better than the satellite Internet that I was using.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I'll never use via set again. But you know, no,
- 3:48Speaker 2: it was just it was just a bad day for internet.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Everything looks good today, you know, had a technician to
- 3:53Speaker 2: come out and we should be good to go today.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I have to say, you know, we had some
- 3:58Speaker 3: tech issues, you know, with it for the most part,
- 4:01Speaker 3: and that might derail like our scheduling conflicts. But like
- 4:06Speaker 3: in an ideal world, our best case scenario, it's not
- 4:08Speaker 3: a promise because you know, obviously life can change at
- 4:11Speaker 3: an instant. But hopefully we could get episodes like within
- 4:15Speaker 3: a weekly basis. But I know first fact that I
- 4:17Speaker 3: am not going to guarantee that because life's just cruel
- 4:20Speaker 3: and uh, that's just how it is.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and Brandon, you brought up with Spectrum.
- 4:26Speaker 1: By the way, Spectrum, if you want to sponsor us,
- 4:28Speaker 1: get your internet working.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Or better, Yeah, take away some of the salary of
- 4:34Speaker 3: from Spectrum supports that because apparently everyone's matched the Dodges again.
- 4:37Speaker 1: Well that's to be expected. I mean, they got to
- 4:39Speaker 1: read schoolball for pending's on the dollar.
- 4:42Speaker 2: They also just got another season sweep by the Boston
- 4:44Speaker 2: Red Sox. You know you have that too, that is true.
- 4:48Speaker 4: But I mean, Brandon, you brought up Spectrum.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I've got a fun story about Spectrum as well myself.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So in my house, we had the Spectrum router, and
- 4:58Speaker 1: we have a Spectrum motive because in my subdivision, we
- 5:02Speaker 1: have a contract that means we must have Spectrum for
- 5:05Speaker 1: home TV and Internet. But we get like one of
- 5:09Speaker 1: the best deals out there, and we get like Netflix
- 5:13Speaker 1: and Peacock and all these streaming services with ads of course,
- 5:19Speaker 1: because you got to have your advertisements. But we were
- 5:23Speaker 1: having some issues where, especially in Discord for me, I
- 5:28Speaker 1: would be in Discord calls and Supernova can attest to
- 5:33Speaker 1: what I'm about to say. There were times when I'm
- 5:36Speaker 1: talking with him and it just cuts out. It just dropped,
- 5:41Speaker 1: like briefly. You could see the ping would go from
- 5:44Speaker 1: like forty to over a thousand. So I'm thinking, Okay,
- 5:49Speaker 1: what's going on with my Internet? So I take a
- 5:51Speaker 1: drive over to best Buy because everybody in America loves
- 5:54Speaker 1: best Buy.
- 5:55Speaker 4: I mean, it's great tech service. It's a great tech
- 5:57Speaker 4: company or.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Tech business to get your technological supplies. But I went
- 6:05Speaker 1: there and I told them, yes, we have a spectrum router.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We have a Spectrum motem, and we had the Eero
- 6:10Speaker 1: Pro seven mess system, which are routers in our own right.
- 6:14Speaker 1: So the best Buy Tech said, take that Spectrum router
- 6:19Speaker 1: and throw it out the back, just throw it out,
- 6:23Speaker 1: bury it, smash it with a sledgehammer, and then go
- 6:25Speaker 1: bury it in the habit. So I did that. I
- 6:30Speaker 1: didn't do the burying in the habit, but I did
- 6:33Speaker 1: take out the Spectrum router. And so far, so good
- 6:38Speaker 1: on the connection issues. I haven't had many issues with
- 6:42Speaker 1: Discord vcs. But my download speed went from nine hundred
- 6:47Speaker 1: and eighty four megabits per second with the Eero router
- 6:51Speaker 1: connected to the Spectrum router which is connected to the modem,
- 6:54Speaker 1: to a download speed of one point two gigabits per second.
- 7:00Speaker 2: That's a little bit of an improvement. Yeah, just a
- 7:02Speaker 2: little bit, a little bit.
- 7:04Speaker 1: But but it's still good because apparently spectrum routers are horrible.
- 7:09Speaker 1: So I don't know much about that. I'm not a
- 7:13Speaker 1: tech person. All I know is I listen to the
- 7:15Speaker 1: people who have technological experience. And the next thing I
- 7:19Speaker 1: have to figure out is why can't my parents' laptop
- 7:22Speaker 1: connect to the Internet despite every other device in our
- 7:26Speaker 1: house connecting to the Internet, which is weird. It shows
- 7:31Speaker 1: it's connected to the Internet, but it can't connect to
- 7:35Speaker 1: certain websites on the Internet.
- 7:39Speaker 3: Oh, it sounds like they think you're being suspicious in
- 7:42Speaker 3: the internet, now, don't you.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Well, I mean they're Cowboys fans.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So they're all, oh, maybe a little delusional too, but.
- 7:51Speaker 4: You know, I mean, I still have a story about
- 7:54Speaker 4: that with my parents.
- 7:57Speaker 1: It was the Lions cow Boys game, I think, if
- 8:01Speaker 1: I remember correctly, was two thousand and twelve, was that
- 8:05Speaker 1: playoff game. And I'm sitting there getting ready for the game,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and my dad comes out of his room at the time,
- 8:14Speaker 1: and I remember this vividly. He had a des Bryant's shirt.
- 8:20Speaker 1: He had a pair of sunglasses, which, again I mean
- 8:24Speaker 1: wearing sunglasses inside. We can debate that until the cows
- 8:26Speaker 1: come home. I don't care if you wear sunglasses inside,
- 8:29Speaker 1: but some people.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Do care about that.
- 8:33Speaker 1: But the other two things he had on was a
- 8:37Speaker 1: padlock and chain, So he was basically like John Cena,
- 8:41Speaker 1: the Doctor of Thuganomics era with the padlock and the chain.
- 8:45Speaker 1: All he was listening was a pair of Jordan's to
- 8:47Speaker 1: pump up and he had a Bob Marley cap on.
- 8:52Speaker 2: What.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I ran out of my house that day and I
- 8:58Speaker 1: did not watch the game in in my house. I
- 9:01Speaker 1: went over to my grandparents house. I watched the game
- 9:04Speaker 1: there I watched as the referees picked up a defensive
- 9:09Speaker 1: pass interference flag on the Cowboys that they committed on
- 9:13Speaker 1: the Lions. I remember that. And then the very next
- 9:16Speaker 1: week that was the Des Bryant des caught It game.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Oh wait wait was that twenty fourteen? Yeah?
- 9:21Speaker 3: I say twenty fifteen is the year. Yeah, twenty fifteen.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Okay, now see now that is true right there.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Energy In all fairness, I will say this, Des did
- 9:37Speaker 1: catch it, and the reason why Des caught it, in
- 9:39Speaker 1: my opinion, is because of that referee. And I did
- 9:43Speaker 1: my thesis paper for my master's degree at Georgetown University
- 9:47Speaker 1: on NFL officiating. That referee, the sideline ref he called
- 9:53Speaker 1: Des down at the one. He did not signal touchdown.
- 9:57Speaker 1: He signaled him down at the one. So by that logic,
- 10:02Speaker 1: Des was down with possession when he's knee hit the ground.
- 10:08Speaker 1: It had nothing to do with the ball jarring out.
- 10:10Speaker 1: He was down by contact, had control of the ball.
- 10:13Speaker 1: But that was the catch rule. We love Calvin Johnson
- 10:17Speaker 1: for that.
- 10:20Speaker 3: I also want to bring out of the earthing as well.
- 10:21Speaker 3: This is also affected I'm gonna ruffle Steelers has for
- 10:23Speaker 3: this one. Jesse James twenty seventeen regular season against the Patriots.
- 10:28Speaker 3: You guys know, not to serve for answer that one.
- 10:29Speaker 3: You all deserve to lose that game.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I don't know what you're talking about.
- 10:34Speaker 4: I don't know what you're talking about either.
- 10:36Speaker 3: It was it was a week fifteen I think it
- 10:38Speaker 3: was a week fifteer sixteen between the Patriots and the
- 10:40Speaker 3: Steelers at Heinz Field. Jesse James apparently caught a touchdown
- 10:43Speaker 3: to put the Steels ahead of the Patriots, and then
- 10:44Speaker 3: they got called back and Steeers fans were salty.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Oh wait, was that that was? That was the one
- 10:48Speaker 4: that was like The next play was a like a like, yeah,
- 10:53Speaker 4: a lob pass interception in the end zone.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a That was December of twenty seenteen.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I know it's the seventeen and eighteen season. I
- 11:02Speaker 3: know it was that season. It's Jesse James, O.
- 11:06Speaker 4: Man.
- 11:08Speaker 1: But that's that's a great that's a great way, guys.
- 11:12Speaker 1: But let's start talking about everybody's favorite thing. Because again
- 11:16Speaker 1: we did say it, the NFL is back. We don't
- 11:20Speaker 1: have to worry about begging for the NFL to come back.
- 11:25Speaker 4: We don't have to sit in.
- 11:26Speaker 1: The corner, hold our footballs and cry softly to sleep
- 11:30Speaker 1: at night, just waiting for the football to come back,
- 11:34Speaker 1: just waiting for the football to come back, Just waiting
- 11:36Speaker 1: for the football to come back.
- 11:38Speaker 4: We have it back.
- 11:40Speaker 1: And honestly, we're only a week in a training camp
- 11:44Speaker 1: and there are some pretty good impressions to be made
- 11:48Speaker 1: right now with the NFL training camp.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Uh, Brandon, I'm gonna start with you.
- 11:53Speaker 1: What is your first impression of camp for the Patriots
- 11:57Speaker 1: and any other teams that you've been following.
- 12:00Speaker 2: So, Patriots camp's pretty much progressed like I've expected it
- 12:04Speaker 2: to the in really, the only highlight of the camp
- 12:08Speaker 2: that people are really focusing on is the chemistry between
- 12:12Speaker 2: Drake May and A. J. Brown, which, from what everything
- 12:15Speaker 2: that I have read on you know, all the commentary
- 12:17Speaker 2: analysty things like that, is nothing short of what is
- 12:20Speaker 2: expected to be of like AJ Brown showing that he
- 12:23Speaker 2: is a true, you know, wr one for the team.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Outside of that, I've really been personally paying a lot
- 12:30Speaker 2: of attention to Mendoza for the Raiders and apparently he
- 12:38Speaker 2: has been commanding of that offense they've got. I think
- 12:42Speaker 2: they've got Kirk Cousins pretty much being like the understood
- 12:45Speaker 2: QB one right now, just I guess just because of
- 12:48Speaker 2: Mendoza's you know, freshness into the NFL, but apparently like
- 12:53Speaker 2: his apparently he had a bad day. It's like yesterday
- 12:56Speaker 2: or today. I want to say it was. I want
- 12:57Speaker 2: to say it was today. But outside of that, you know,
- 13:01Speaker 2: Mendoza has been judging from the however you want to
- 13:04Speaker 2: weigh it, into the Raiders training camp, he's looked a
- 13:06Speaker 2: little bit better than what I expected him to.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I mean, you can't get much better than that with
- 13:16Speaker 1: the Patriots. And I mean I am curious about that
- 13:18Speaker 1: drink made to aj Brown because how are the Patriots
- 13:21Speaker 1: going to come back from being absolutely eviscerated in the
- 13:26Speaker 1: Super Bowl by the Seattle Seahawks. They were eviscerated so
- 13:28Speaker 1: bad the MVP left the champions to go and play
- 13:33Speaker 1: with Patrick Mahomes.
- 13:35Speaker 2: To be fair, they just didn't want to pay the man,
- 13:38Speaker 2: like if they had just paid Kenneth Walker. But he's
- 13:40Speaker 2: worth then is that man? That man fucking ran all
- 13:43Speaker 2: over us. We might as well have just taken a
- 13:45Speaker 2: semi truckle let him drive through it through the holes
- 13:47Speaker 2: in our line.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Look, that's going to counterpoint you right now, they were
- 13:50Speaker 3: perfectly finding sack sarbonnay, like if he didn't tear his
- 13:54Speaker 3: anchor acl or whatever that injury was, if I remember correctly, Oh.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, No, it was a really bad matchup for
- 13:59Speaker 2: us either way. Contrary to what everybody says, we absolutely
- 14:03Speaker 2: deserve to be in that Super Bowl. And you know,
- 14:06Speaker 2: shut you can't, you can't. I don't have a camera
- 14:08Speaker 2: that I concern around a point at but just know
- 14:10Speaker 2: that for any Patriot haters out there and sticking up
- 14:12Speaker 2: my middle finger at you, we absolutely.
- 14:14Speaker 3: The people were any Broncos fans, I still wanted to
- 14:20Speaker 3: believe in bon Knicks, man, I have my father who's
- 14:22Speaker 3: the Broncos doesn't even after he watched him, and he
- 14:24Speaker 3: was like, I was a little disappointed. The game will
- 14:26Speaker 3: suck the way it did.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Well, Like even if bo Nicks had played the AFCC,
- 14:29Speaker 2: we still would have won that game because at the
- 14:31Speaker 2: same time, like we outplayed them on every level. The
- 14:34Speaker 2: only reason Jared Stidham did as well as he did
- 14:36Speaker 2: against those that's because he's familiar with the Patriot system
- 14:39Speaker 2: because he was a Patriot himself. And there's not been
- 14:42Speaker 2: much of a change in between the old regime versus
- 14:45Speaker 2: the news. So it's really not that much of a difference.
- 14:47Speaker 2: We still have a white guy at QB that does
- 14:49Speaker 2: pretty much the same thing as Brady does, except he's,
- 14:51Speaker 2: you know, a little bit more mobile. I mean, there's
- 14:54Speaker 2: not much of a difference here so far. We don't
- 14:56Speaker 2: the sort receivers like Edelman.
- 14:58Speaker 1: So what So what you're saying is the Patriots offense
- 15:02Speaker 1: is the then Oakland Raiders offense circa two thousand and
- 15:07Speaker 1: two entering the Super Bowl when they played against John Gruden,
- 15:11Speaker 1: who knew everything about them, right down to the play calls.
- 15:17Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, why not?
- 15:20Speaker 3: Sure what?
- 15:21Speaker 2: But at the same time, you know the typical argument
- 15:24Speaker 2: that I still hear, at least in my neck of
- 15:25Speaker 2: the woods Patriot sittings there to made Superowl because they
- 15:28Speaker 2: had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL, And
- 15:30Speaker 2: did you tell the round look at the Denver Broncos.
- 15:32Speaker 2: They were just like one or two steps ahead of
- 15:34Speaker 2: us in terms of a schedule difficulty. So again, middle
- 15:37Speaker 2: finger to the camera, we would beat somebody who had
- 15:40Speaker 2: a technically harder schedule than us, and we still made
- 15:42Speaker 2: the Super Bowl, where they at ain't gonna be a
- 15:44Speaker 2: playoffs this year.
- 15:45Speaker 4: But nah, that no, that's that's definitely fair.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And again, I mean in your division, it's basically the
- 15:53Speaker 1: Bills and you guys right now, because the Dolphins, who
- 15:57Speaker 1: knows how Malik Willis is gonna be down there, and
- 16:00Speaker 1: the Jets, well it's the Jets.
- 16:04Speaker 4: Yeah, uh, Nova, let's go to you.
- 16:08Speaker 1: What are your early camp impressions, not only for your
- 16:12Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens, but.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Who else are you looking around the league? Yeah?
- 16:17Speaker 3: Okay, I actually do have a little bit of a
- 16:18Speaker 3: source play here because I happen to receiving news about
- 16:21Speaker 3: Ravens mini camp and there's been a lot of interesting
- 16:24Speaker 3: aspects here. So I'm gonna go ahead and take the
- 16:26Speaker 3: source from Kyle Uman's over on social media. He's the
- 16:31Speaker 3: voice of the Ravens. And I'll start with a couple
- 16:33Speaker 3: of things here. First of all, the most important thing
- 16:35Speaker 3: that happened in trading Kepper, the Ravens defensive tackle Nimai
- 16:39Speaker 3: Madubike is out of the physically unable to perform with
- 16:42Speaker 3: so that defense only gets scarier because now with Trey
- 16:45Speaker 3: Hendrickson and Presumbia, a lot more better uh defense, because
- 16:52Speaker 3: you know, we're actually having a good defensive coach in
- 16:54Speaker 3: Jesse Minter and as well as better in presence than
- 16:57Speaker 3: kallay As Campbell. It's gonna be an interesting thing to
- 16:59Speaker 3: see that the you know, finally be potentially back at
- 17:02Speaker 3: full straight. Otherwise, Lamar Jackson was looking really good at
- 17:05Speaker 3: practice development as well for receivers Tess Walker and Rashad Bateman.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I guess the one negative I can say about the
- 17:13Speaker 3: mini camp is that Tyler Loop still looks raw and
- 17:17Speaker 3: still looks like he needs time to like fully embrace
- 17:19Speaker 3: like the big kicker role because he's been a little
- 17:22Speaker 3: shaky with his kicks. Otherwise, this Ravens camp has been
- 17:26Speaker 3: like the one day I've been paying attention to, as
- 17:29Speaker 3: well as a rookie receiver Jacobe Jacoby Lane who's looking
- 17:33Speaker 3: really good in his route running.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I mean, that's a good way to look at the
- 17:40Speaker 1: Ravens camp, especially with how Baltimore is probably gonna be
- 17:44Speaker 1: an early candidate to win the AFC North right now,
- 17:49Speaker 1: even though it is Aaron Rodgers' last ride in the
- 17:53Speaker 1: NFL and he's gonna be trading a yellow jacket for
- 17:56Speaker 1: a gold jacket, which ironically enough, he only played for
- 18:02Speaker 1: two or three teams now and they either wore green
- 18:06Speaker 1: or yellow in their coloration, and then he's gonna get gold.
- 18:11Speaker 3: That is actually a really funny way you put that
- 18:13Speaker 3: with Harry Rogers. But I don't imagine his time is
- 18:16Speaker 3: gonna get better with new coach time, Mike mccarfey, because
- 18:18Speaker 3: the look that the Steelers are still, in my opinion,
- 18:21Speaker 3: refusing to you know, fully embrace the rebuild because they
- 18:24Speaker 3: still think they could do something with Harry Rochester the quarterback.
- 18:27Speaker 3: But if you ask me about the ASC North, it's
- 18:29Speaker 3: gonna be coming down to both the Ravens and the Bengals,
- 18:32Speaker 3: because I think those two teams are gonna be the
- 18:33Speaker 3: teams to look out for. Maybe the Steelers if they
- 18:36Speaker 3: somehow make their way to a nine to eight season
- 18:38Speaker 3: or an equivalent. But you know, I just think the
- 18:41Speaker 3: goal personally for me, for the Ravens. You know, I
- 18:44Speaker 3: see every other social media or like analysts say the
- 18:47Speaker 3: Ravens must reach the Super Bowl. Dude, baby steps First,
- 18:50Speaker 3: First of all, it's a rookie head coaching, Jesse Minter.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I think the bit more important goal for the Ravens
- 18:55Speaker 3: make the playoffs.
- 18:58Speaker 4: Brandy Brandy can't be on then, right, So first.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Of all, hold on here, I got a bone to
- 19:04Speaker 2: pick with that one. First of all, the Bengals, why
- 19:09Speaker 2: the hell you gonna surround and trade off a defensive
- 19:13Speaker 2: player like Hendrickson to your own rival for basically a
- 19:17Speaker 2: bag of potato chips. You let that man walk to
- 19:22Speaker 2: a defense that, whenever they're fully healthy, has been historically
- 19:28Speaker 2: terrifying to play against. Whenever they're all healthy.
- 19:32Speaker 3: You didn't see them in twenty twenty three, twenty four.
- 19:34Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying. Like, reference like and not only that,
- 19:36Speaker 2: but reference you know, to the team of destiny, you know,
- 19:38Speaker 2: with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed and whatnot, like Ravens.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Defense has always been historically defensive, and you turn around,
- 19:46Speaker 2: you're gonna give them all these key players and make
- 19:48Speaker 2: them healthy again. The Bengals are dumb for this. I
- 19:50Speaker 2: don't think it's anybody's division but Baltimore's, honestly, because if
- 19:55Speaker 2: Cincinnati didn't do anything to protect, you know, to help
- 19:58Speaker 2: protect Joe Burrow when that offensive line and man, it's
- 20:00Speaker 2: just gonna get smoked game after game after game again,
- 20:03Speaker 2: He's just gonna wind up on the on the the
- 20:04Speaker 2: ir list again, I hope he doesn't. I hope he doesn't,
- 20:08Speaker 2: though you know, you.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Know, never know how the NFL season goes. You know,
- 20:11Speaker 3: we had the Ravens favorite to win the division, like
- 20:13Speaker 3: well it was like the past five years, and then
- 20:14Speaker 3: there was like the Bengals upsurs and then whatever the
- 20:17Speaker 3: hell last season was, which I went a combination of
- 20:20Speaker 3: injury playing from John Harboss idiocy.
- 20:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, such as life in the NFL with that,
- 20:29Speaker 1: and again I feel bad, but that was how you
- 20:31Speaker 1: guys lost out in the playoffs last year was a
- 20:35Speaker 1: game winning kick going wide right on Sunday Night Football.
- 20:39Speaker 1: It is one of the single most heartbreaking moments of
- 20:43Speaker 1: all time. But outside of that, noble, what is a
- 20:47Speaker 1: team that you have been looking at right now with
- 20:50Speaker 1: some early camp impressions.
- 20:52Speaker 3: You're gonna hate me for thiss one in New Orleans Saints.
- 20:58Speaker 4: And why would you go to them?
- 21:03Speaker 3: Because it's my hot take of the NSC South. You know,
- 21:05Speaker 3: if we're ever gets a discussion about this one, I
- 21:07Speaker 3: actually think the Saints are criminally underrated because you know,
- 21:10Speaker 3: Tyler Shuck's developing. I mean, yes, we're gonna have to
- 21:13Speaker 3: be discussing about them because you know, we do have
- 21:15Speaker 3: some segments about them, but I do love the fact
- 21:17Speaker 3: that Tyler Shucking Hellimore, you know, basically had no expectations
- 21:21Speaker 3: last season, and they've basically met the expectation to a degree.
- 21:26Speaker 3: And now Tyler Shuck is smeloping. He starting to get
- 21:28Speaker 3: some weapons, I mean defense. You could probably say whatever
- 21:31Speaker 3: about it, but you know, it's the team I think
- 21:33Speaker 3: I'm rather interested in because like, nobody gave any credit
- 21:35Speaker 3: to them last year, and I think this year they
- 21:37Speaker 3: should at least getch some eyes.
- 21:40Speaker 4: And I'm gonna at least say this.
- 21:43Speaker 1: When you were talking about that, I took a sip
- 21:47Speaker 1: of water and nearly wanted to spit it out with
- 21:51Speaker 1: that because I was choking on the water.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Imagine that.
- 21:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, it's New Orleans, man.
- 22:02Speaker 1: The only thing that's good about New Orleans is that
- 22:05Speaker 1: for the last three years they hosted Pokemon tournaments, and and.
- 22:11Speaker 4: They're good at making seafood. They get they do good
- 22:14Speaker 4: seafood over there.
- 22:16Speaker 3: And Super Bowl at least they have one.
- 22:20Speaker 1: And now I'm doing the middle finger at the camera
- 22:23Speaker 1: even though I even though I have a camera, I'm
- 22:26Speaker 1: doing I'm not turning at all.
- 22:29Speaker 3: For those of the other behind the scenes, I'm the
- 22:31Speaker 3: only one with the camera on.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Oh man, I.
- 22:36Speaker 2: Don't know some I'm about twenty eight to three something
- 22:37Speaker 2: like that.
- 22:39Speaker 1: And again, Brandon is one of the only person who
- 22:42Speaker 1: can legally get away with that because he is a
- 22:44Speaker 1: fan of that team. In my opinion, only fans of
- 22:48Speaker 1: that team can get away with it.
- 22:50Speaker 4: If you are a fan of any other team, shut up.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Also disclaimer because I don't I don't think the episode
- 22:58Speaker 2: called it because of our love my lovely spectrum internet issues.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I have been a fan of the Patriots since Pete
- 23:05Speaker 2: Carroll was the head coach of New England, so this
- 23:07Speaker 2: is the pre Tom Brady era, So I've got a
- 23:10Speaker 2: lot of wiggle room here.
- 23:12Speaker 4: Ah, I think I think you're right on that.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Meanwhile, let's at least talk about me, And we do
- 23:22Speaker 1: have some segments on the Atlanta Falcons that we are
- 23:24Speaker 1: going to get into, but early camp impressions right now
- 23:28Speaker 1: for myself with Atlanta from what I've been seeing, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: I do want to shout out.
- 23:33Speaker 4: Miles Garrett.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Of his own I believe it's on the nest if
- 23:38Speaker 1: I remember correctly, as his new setup because he's no
- 23:42Speaker 1: longer with Fox five Atlanta. Shout us to him, Shout
- 23:46Speaker 1: us to Kevin Knight, to the falcoholic h these guys
- 23:49Speaker 1: are doing camp. And also I believe it's Might Oh.
- 23:55Speaker 1: I forget his name. It was some guy from ESPN,
- 24:00Speaker 1: but he does wrestling coverage as well and used to
- 24:04Speaker 1: do like boxing or UFC coverage. But they've been doing
- 24:11Speaker 1: training camp notes for Atlanta every day after Falcons training camp,
- 24:19Speaker 1: and like most Falcons training camps, the defense seems to
- 24:22Speaker 1: be better than the offense. And I've seen a couple
- 24:26Speaker 1: of the clips. The defense definitely has one, a couple
- 24:30Speaker 1: of routes and a couple of plays here and there.
- 24:34Speaker 1: But I want to shout out Zachariah branch Man, the
- 24:37Speaker 1: third round pick out of Georgia.
- 24:39Speaker 4: I will be completely honest.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I did not watch a lot of University of Georgia
- 24:44Speaker 1: last year, so I did not know much about this
- 24:47Speaker 1: kid coming in to the NFL. I completely respect the
- 24:53Speaker 1: coverage of him from UGA members like Tory Mcallaney and
- 24:59Speaker 1: other in the Atlanta area that went to the University
- 25:02Speaker 1: of Georgia that followed this kid's journey. But I am
- 25:09Speaker 1: going out on a limb here when I say this
- 25:11Speaker 1: Brandon and Nova. Zachariah Branch is giving me Taylor Gabriel
- 25:18Speaker 1: vibes in Atlanta, and that kid was special on the
- 25:24Speaker 1: twenty sixteen team with the way that he bursts and
- 25:28Speaker 1: his north to south speed. Zachariah Branch is doing that
- 25:33Speaker 1: in spades. And also I saw this one diamond cut
- 25:38Speaker 1: that he did. He busted the training camp assistant's legs
- 25:44Speaker 1: and got open Michael Pannix and seven on seven had
- 25:48Speaker 1: a fifty yard touchdown pass to him.
- 25:51Speaker 4: This kid's gonna be special. Man.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Well, y'all need something to get yourself going.
- 25:56Speaker 5: Eventually, christ On a cracker, you know what it is.
- 26:07Speaker 3: You know, we give out lanity expectations and stuff. How
- 26:09Speaker 3: they always disappoint us.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, And when we get into the segments, one of
- 26:16Speaker 1: the segments on Atlanta, I've got some choice words for
- 26:18Speaker 1: one member of the media. But outside of Atlanta's training camp,
- 26:24Speaker 1: I'm actually curious about Minnesota with the Vikings, And that
- 26:28Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the fact, like Novah said
- 26:30Speaker 1: in the intro, that we just came off of Summers
- 26:33Speaker 1: Slam at the time of this recording. This has to
- 26:36Speaker 1: do with Minnesota because JJ McCarthy's a bust. Kyler Murray
- 26:41Speaker 1: was shipped out of Arizona. No, he's a bust. He sucks.
- 26:47Speaker 3: He hasn't even had a full season yet. Come on,
- 26:49Speaker 3: calm down.
- 26:50Speaker 4: No, he's not good. He's not good.
- 26:53Speaker 2: I wasn't even good in college. Let's be so for
- 26:56Speaker 2: real right now.
- 26:57Speaker 1: Honestly, And I might, I might do the here, I'd
- 27:00Speaker 1: mind training for print, Butter Brena sying. But no, I'm
- 27:06Speaker 1: actually curious about how Kyler Murray is doing. And apparently,
- 27:09Speaker 1: according to reports, he is distancing himself in the quarterback
- 27:15Speaker 1: competition with JJ McCarthy and apparently his connection with Justin
- 27:20Speaker 1: Jefferson is already flashing. So this is something good for
- 27:25Speaker 1: Kyler Murray. And the way that Kevin O'Connell's offense is
- 27:29Speaker 1: notoriously run, I think the Vikings might be a lot
- 27:33Speaker 1: more potent on offense with Kyler Murray because if you
- 27:36Speaker 1: are trying to stop Justin Jefferson over the top, then
- 27:39Speaker 1: you gotta worry about Jordan Aid in the intermediate. And
- 27:42Speaker 1: if you focus on either one of those two, you've
- 27:44Speaker 1: got potential for Kyler Murray to just run with the ball.
- 27:47Speaker 1: We saw what he could do when his offensive line
- 27:51Speaker 1: was all that and not a back of chips in
- 27:55Speaker 1: Arizona with him just running around and running around and
- 27:58Speaker 1: running around. But now he's got an offensive line in Minnesota.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Minnesota has got a criminally underrated offensive line. I think
- 28:07Speaker 1: Minnesota has a shot at doing some big damage in
- 28:12Speaker 1: the NFC North this year.
- 28:13Speaker 3: I mean, granted, that's a problem in itself because the
- 28:16Speaker 3: NFC North is still as good as ever Detroit, you know,
- 28:18Speaker 3: they're still looking to get back into the playoffs at
- 28:20Speaker 3: the disappointment last season. You got the Bears and the Packers,
- 28:23Speaker 3: you know, at the top of their levels. And I
- 28:25Speaker 3: actually think there's a seconment on the Bears later today.
- 28:28Speaker 3: And the Vikings are kind of just like the outside
- 28:30Speaker 3: looking in right now. And Kyler Murray, you know, many
- 28:33Speaker 3: people are trying to find I don't know why social
- 28:35Speaker 3: media is honest, like the next Sam Donald, and they
- 28:37Speaker 3: think that Kyler Murrays the next one. Dude, he's like
- 28:40Speaker 3: the most obvious candidate.
- 28:42Speaker 4: I mean, I'm not even going that far on it.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Like Sam Donald bounced around teams and finally found something
- 28:50Speaker 1: in Seattle. It's the same thing with Baker that he
- 28:52Speaker 1: bounced around from team to team, and he finally found
- 28:55Speaker 1: a team that works for him in Tampa.
- 28:58Speaker 4: And again getting ahead of ourselves on that.
- 29:01Speaker 2: You know what all those teams had in common though, right,
- 29:04Speaker 2: They all had the same thing in common, which is
- 29:06Speaker 2: why you had these journeyman qbs that get bounced around. Yeah,
- 29:10Speaker 2: I got this fucking chip on their shoulder. All the
- 29:13Speaker 2: coaches sucked.
- 29:16Speaker 3: That's so for real, because not every look, because not
- 29:19Speaker 3: every draft scouts, I can see something that everyone else does,
- 29:23Speaker 3: and it's like the moment you find out they're no
- 29:25Speaker 3: longer in the team that believes in them initially.
- 29:28Speaker 1: I mean, that's definitely true. That definitely is a legitimate
- 29:32Speaker 1: statement there. But let's move on, gentlemen, to our next topic.
- 29:38Speaker 1: It is training camp and much like training camp.
- 29:43Speaker 4: Oh man, that injury bug man.
- 29:47Speaker 1: I mean, I I remember the saying is that the
- 29:50Speaker 1: only two things you can't beat in life are death
- 29:53Speaker 1: and taxes. I'm gonna add a third part to that
- 29:55Speaker 1: on the Grim Reapers to do list death taxes and
- 29:59Speaker 1: a players getting injured in the first week of training camp.
- 30:05Speaker 2: Mike clockhark Man, it really is like clockwork.
- 30:08Speaker 1: I mean, just listen to some of these players that
- 30:11Speaker 1: are injured We've got Tua with back tightness. You still
- 30:16Speaker 1: got you still got Penix coming off that ACL tear.
- 30:21Speaker 1: Now again, in videos that I've seen and listening to
- 30:26Speaker 1: boots on the ground players, they say that Pennix looks explosive. Now, granted,
- 30:31Speaker 1: Penix had a swing pass for a touchdown, but I
- 30:35Speaker 1: look even though the.
- 30:36Speaker 4: Video shows a touchdown.
- 30:38Speaker 3: Uh.
- 30:38Speaker 1: They said there was a medicine ball that was to
- 30:40Speaker 1: simulate pressure and his foot got hit before he threw
- 30:43Speaker 1: the ball, so technically he was sacked, but staying staying
- 30:50Speaker 1: in the division with the NFC South. Brian Breeze, the
- 30:54Speaker 1: defensive lineman for the Saints, towards ACL. He's out for
- 30:57Speaker 1: the year. Nick Skurtin, the second linebacker for the Carolina Panthers.
- 31:03Speaker 1: He tours ACL. He is out for the year. Chris Brazzell,
- 31:07Speaker 1: the third round rookie out of Tennessee for the Carolina Panthers,
- 31:11Speaker 1: tours LCL.
- 31:13Speaker 4: He's out for the year. You have Schamar Stewart with
- 31:15Speaker 4: a hyper extended knee. You have c J.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Garner Johnson would look to be an achilles injury, but
- 31:23Speaker 1: it was labeled as a calf strain, so fingers crossed
- 31:28Speaker 1: on that but a calf strain again, that could be
- 31:30Speaker 1: a cursor to the Achilles.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I can attested that one because remember Kevin Durant twenty nineteen.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Oh, good point, caf strain to the Achilles. So let's
- 31:40Speaker 1: just start there that I know, I listed two players,
- 31:44Speaker 1: one in the AFC North and one in the AFC East,
- 31:48Speaker 1: But I've got five players in the NFC South. Does
- 31:53Speaker 1: anybody want to win the NFC South right now?
- 31:57Speaker 2: Sure? Let me just go ahead and suit up. I'm
- 31:58Speaker 2: sure I could probably do a little bit more. For
- 32:02Speaker 2: legal reasons. This is a joke out.
- 32:09Speaker 3: It looks like the SC South Travis just never ended
- 32:11Speaker 3: because we got that whole Oh the Souse is Tech
- 32:13Speaker 3: division again, and now all of a sudden, it's like, oh,
- 32:16Speaker 3: are we just making this into a whole general hospital?
- 32:18Speaker 2: Bit?
- 32:19Speaker 4: I mean it feels that way.
- 32:21Speaker 1: But at the same time, when you think about all
- 32:23Speaker 1: these injuries, this is only the first week of training
- 32:27Speaker 1: camp and all these players and again, season ending injuries
- 32:31Speaker 1: in training camp has to be one of the most
- 32:34Speaker 1: demoralizing things to ever happen to an NFL player. And again,
- 32:39Speaker 1: I wouldn't know anything about this. I've never torn an ACL,
- 32:43Speaker 1: I've never torn an LCL. I've hyper extended an elbow before,
- 32:47Speaker 1: but I've never hyper extended a knee.
- 32:49Speaker 4: And when you saw that injury that Shamar.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Stewart had, it did look like his leg bet and away.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Your leg is not supposed to be so for it
- 32:58Speaker 1: to be just a hyper extension, that's really good for
- 33:01Speaker 1: the young man. But outside of that, I definitely think
- 33:07Speaker 1: the injury of Knick Skurtin is the biggest one on
- 33:11Speaker 1: that list, guys, because last year Knick Skurtin really impressed me.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Despite being an Atlanta fan, I was looking at how
- 33:20Speaker 1: Carolina was playing from time to time, especially with the
- 33:23Speaker 1: fact that they played Atlanta twice and one of them
- 33:26Speaker 1: was a thirty to zhering shutout. But number eleven, Nick
- 33:31Speaker 1: Skirtin really impressed me off the edge. And for him
- 33:35Speaker 1: to have an ACL tear is absolutely brutal.
- 33:43Speaker 3: This is how it is because ACL taar is definitely
- 33:46Speaker 3: something you don't want to be seeing here. Brutalizes. You're
- 33:48Speaker 3: like Mike, we hear the ACL stories all the time.
- 33:51Speaker 4: You know.
- 33:52Speaker 3: I was at the popular Athletes. As I mentioned, Patrick
- 33:54Speaker 3: mahomes So in the last episode out an ACL tear
- 33:57Speaker 3: and you can see how it affected mechanics, and for
- 34:00Speaker 3: as someone as young to get an ACL tear, especially
- 34:05Speaker 3: when you're still in a development, that's just something you
- 34:08Speaker 3: don't want to see in your career because it's like
- 34:10Speaker 3: you have to either change your mechanics to hope. We
- 34:14Speaker 3: not deal with that. ACL is big, he has portly
- 34:16Speaker 3: as you did. But at the same time, it's just
- 34:18Speaker 3: like how well does the whole team you know, fall
- 34:21Speaker 3: like follow up after that?
- 34:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we kind of we kind of discussed it a
- 34:28Speaker 2: little bit last week, but I'll say it again. The Saints,
- 34:34Speaker 2: the Falcons, the Panthers, they all play on really crappy
- 34:39Speaker 2: astro turf, whereas somebody like Tampa Bay Buccaneers they play
- 34:44Speaker 2: on a more natural grass. I do not believe in
- 34:49Speaker 2: these this crap fake ass turf in any capacity, just
- 34:54Speaker 2: because of the amount of actual stuffing power that it
- 34:58Speaker 2: puts onto your you know, your feet and your ankles,
- 35:01Speaker 2: your legs, your knees. Whenever you go to make a
- 35:04Speaker 2: cut or make a pivot, you know, change up your route,
- 35:06Speaker 2: what have you too. It's going to stop you in
- 35:10Speaker 2: your tracks, but the rest of your body is gonna
- 35:11Speaker 2: keep going. So if you if the rest of your
- 35:13Speaker 2: knee keeps going, but your foots playing. I guess what's happened.
- 35:15Speaker 2: Something's getting hyper extended or torn.
- 35:17Speaker 1: And that's a fair point about the turf versus the
- 35:22Speaker 1: grass debate. But I thought the Panthers have a natural
- 35:27Speaker 1: grass turf at Bank of America Stadium.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I think they play on a little bit more of
- 35:32Speaker 2: a mixture, but I think it leans more towards ah,
- 35:37Speaker 2: like an astro turf kind of variety. Don't quote me
- 35:40Speaker 2: on that exact kind, because I know that can be
- 35:42Speaker 2: a little bit of a branding issue, But I think
- 35:44Speaker 2: I think they're I think they're a little bit of
- 35:46Speaker 2: a mixture of natural and you know fake.
- 35:49Speaker 3: I just looked it up. The do use turf.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Okay, Oh, the Panthers do use turf. How about that?
- 35:57Speaker 1: Now Again, I know Atlanta does have their version of AstroTurf,
- 36:02Speaker 1: but I think their's is like not as problematic as
- 36:08Speaker 1: say whatever excuse they use in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Where you're where you're basically just being tackled on a
- 36:16Speaker 1: bunch of tires, it feels like a bunch of tires
- 36:19Speaker 1: mixed with cree.
- 36:23Speaker 2: But I had some yard ball at that point.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Yeah, you're basically playing some yard ball. But outside of
- 36:32Speaker 1: those injuries, guys, and again, I don't even want to
- 36:37Speaker 1: bring up the two appendix one because I mean, how
- 36:40Speaker 1: can you really have a quarterback competition if they're both injured?
- 36:44Speaker 1: So that's another thing, and that doesn't even get us
- 36:50Speaker 1: to the best part of the injury bug, and that's
- 36:54Speaker 1: gonna be the forty nine ers.
- 36:58Speaker 2: R Ricky.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the forty nine ers.
- 37:01Speaker 1: You might as well take an ambulance and painted red
- 37:05Speaker 1: and gold, and it's still wontn't be enough to hold
- 37:08Speaker 1: all the forty nine ers players.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Oh.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I keep in mind there's a special injury report for
- 37:12Speaker 3: this one because Kyle Shanahan ed up an underneasury report too.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Oh boy, I don't even know how that how you
- 37:21Speaker 1: can do that. But evidently, from what the reports were,
- 37:25Speaker 1: he was he got into the accident because he reached
- 37:28Speaker 1: down to grab his phone, so distract distracted driving at
- 37:34Speaker 1: its finest, ladies and gentlemen. Thank god, nobody was hurt
- 37:38Speaker 1: severe except for Shanahan. But yeah, except except for Shanahan there.
- 37:46Speaker 3: But it's list.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Man, It's it's one thing after another though. But I mean,
- 37:55Speaker 1: nobody you brought it up with the forty nine ers
- 37:57Speaker 1: injury report.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Man, how many players are on this report right now?
- 38:02Speaker 3: Yes?
- 38:05Speaker 1: Yes, I mean that's a great answer.
- 38:09Speaker 2: Yes, So let's see. I'm so I'm looking at their
- 38:14Speaker 2: injury status report on ESPN right now, and since July
- 38:20Speaker 2: twenty seventh, it's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen,
- 38:27Speaker 2: fourteen different players have been on the injury report, whether
- 38:30Speaker 2: that be short term, aggravated injuries or injury reserve. Like
- 38:35Speaker 2: they've had fourteen different players already, like for example, Ricky
- 38:38Speaker 2: Pearsol you know PCL injury or PCL surgery on his
- 38:42Speaker 2: right knee. You've had people who've had like sore hamstrings,
- 38:45Speaker 2: like Christian Kirk. It's just a bunch of people just listened,
- 38:48Speaker 2: like Keon White apparently left practice early on Saturday with
- 38:52Speaker 2: a groin injury. So we all know how well that
- 38:55Speaker 2: that can turn out for players too.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And that also leaves so another segment later today where
- 39:02Speaker 3: it's like, actually, this the whole injury plague that the
- 39:05Speaker 3: forty nine Ers have was suffering through, it's probably great
- 39:07Speaker 3: for my area because like the Rams fans are over
- 39:09Speaker 3: hyping themselves, you know, with all the Austins and squashes.
- 39:12Speaker 3: But at the same time, this whole injury bug for
- 39:14Speaker 3: the forty nine ers actually forced them to go into
- 39:17Speaker 3: free agency.
- 39:21Speaker 1: I mean, it's definitely gonna be interesting with the forty
- 39:26Speaker 1: nine ers this year. I mean no, no, George Kittle
- 39:31Speaker 1: is definitely gonna be probably their biggest loss. I mean,
- 39:34Speaker 1: I know Ricky Piersoll helped them out a lot last year,
- 39:39Speaker 1: but I mean, you have eighty five on the field,
- 39:42Speaker 1: it really helps out With Christian McCaffrey. Now the real question, though,
- 39:49Speaker 1: are you guys gonna be taking Christian McCaffrey first overall
- 39:52Speaker 1: in your fantasy draft if you get the number one
- 39:54Speaker 1: pick at all? Absolutely not, ah, man, why don't you
- 40:00Speaker 1: take him so that.
- 40:02Speaker 3: I did say no. I didn't say no. I said
- 40:04Speaker 3: if I think get invited into their league, which I'm
- 40:06Speaker 3: not even at one in a.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Moment, Well, I mean I'm asking Brandon on that one.
- 40:10Speaker 1: Why don't you take him so that we Bejon doesn't
- 40:12Speaker 1: get picked number one and has problems all season?
- 40:16Speaker 2: So honestly, like if I'm over here, if I'm doing
- 40:19Speaker 2: whenever I do my fantasy draft, which I usually do
- 40:21Speaker 2: mine after the preseason, has ended shortly before the season
- 40:24Speaker 2: actually kicks off. That way, if some idiots want to
- 40:27Speaker 2: go out there and play the preseason and get themselves injured,
- 40:30Speaker 2: that's all them. We don't affect my fantasy team whatsoever.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Typically in this year, most people kind of switch it
- 40:37Speaker 2: up between receivers and running backs. I'm always picked running
- 40:41Speaker 2: back first, and typically the running back that's been on
- 40:44Speaker 2: the top of my list is is Jamier Gibbs from
- 40:47Speaker 2: the Detroit Lions. He's been He's my overall number one
- 40:49Speaker 2: running back. If I were to if I were to
- 40:51Speaker 2: be able to take the first running back off the board,
- 40:52Speaker 2: it's gonna be him.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I mean that just showcases who you who you have
- 41:00Speaker 1: in the Bajon versus Jamior Gibbs debate.
- 41:03Speaker 4: But we will be bringing the job too.
- 41:06Speaker 1: We will be bringing that up momentarily, guys, because that
- 41:10Speaker 1: was injury talk in the NFL through the first week
- 41:13Speaker 1: of training camp.
- 41:14Speaker 4: Now we get to talk about the real fun stuff. Money.
- 41:20Speaker 1: Everybody loves money. We are gonna be getting money eventually,
- 41:25Speaker 1: but not this kind of money.
- 41:28Speaker 4: Uh, it's contract time.
- 41:33Speaker 3: For who.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Yes, it is yes for who. Yes, we are gonna
- 41:41Speaker 1: start with all these players. These are either players who
- 41:45Speaker 1: have contracts, got extensions, or are no longer with the team.
- 41:51Speaker 1: And we're gonna start with one of the banes of
- 41:55Speaker 1: my existence and all of Atlanta ladies and gentlemen.
- 42:00Speaker 4: Because.
- 42:06Speaker 3: Who's a general matcher.
- 42:10Speaker 4: No, not mean Cunningham.
- 42:12Speaker 1: But it was announced a couple of days ago that
- 42:18Speaker 1: Number seven of the New Orleans Saints, also known as
- 42:23Speaker 1: Taysom Hill, is leaving the New Orleans Saints after nine years,
- 42:30Speaker 1: and to that, I say.
- 42:36Speaker 4: Goodbye. Now, okank god, he is gone.
- 42:42Speaker 1: The bane of existence for me as an Atlanta fan
- 42:47Speaker 1: whenever they played New Orleans, because let's face it, ever
- 42:50Speaker 1: since Drew Brees left New Orleans, the Falcon Saints rivalry,
- 42:54Speaker 1: despite it being the best rivalry in the NFL that
- 42:57Speaker 1: nobody talks about because it's not as popular as the
- 43:01Speaker 1: Packers or Bears, or the Eagles and Cowboys, or the
- 43:05Speaker 1: Ravens and Steelers or any of those, the Falcons and
- 43:09Speaker 1: Saints is one of the best rivalries in the NFL.
- 43:12Speaker 1: And ever since Matt Ryan and Drew Brees retired, that
- 43:16Speaker 1: rivalry has been and every time, every single freaking time
- 43:26Speaker 1: that number seven lined up in the backfield for New
- 43:29Speaker 1: Orleans you knew it was a power run to the
- 43:34Speaker 1: right side, and every single time it seemed like that
- 43:38Speaker 1: guy would not be able to be tackled. So, as
- 43:41Speaker 1: an Atlanta fan, I hope that he gets up first.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Of me say this as an NFL fan. As an
- 43:47Speaker 1: NFL fan, I hope he gets a position elsewhere. As
- 43:51Speaker 1: an Atlanta fan, Bye bye.
- 43:57Speaker 2: I'll tell you where he's going.
- 43:58Speaker 3: He's going to Denver, even following Sean Payton.
- 44:03Speaker 2: With Sean Payton, that's a good thing because.
- 44:09Speaker 1: In all fairness, I mean, I don't care if he
- 44:12Speaker 1: goes to Denver. Let him go there, let him be
- 44:15Speaker 1: with Sean Payton. They'd choke in Denver like they'd choke
- 44:18Speaker 1: in New Orleans.
- 44:21Speaker 3: From me, I just have a funny thing to ask,
- 44:24Speaker 3: what if he signs with a division rival like Carolina
- 44:26Speaker 3: or a Tampa Bay.
- 44:27Speaker 2: What is I hope he goes to Tampa Bay. Can
- 44:29Speaker 2: you imagine Baker Mayfield and Taysom Hill. I can you
- 44:36Speaker 2: imagine if Taysom Hill gets used like the new Tampa
- 44:38Speaker 2: Bay's Mike Alstott.
- 44:40Speaker 4: I am, I am, I am literally getting a headache
- 44:42Speaker 4: right now. I am getting a headache.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Hey, look, look, Grandon escalated this. I just asked you
- 44:47Speaker 3: a question.
- 44:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm getting a headache with that.
- 44:53Speaker 1: But we don't have to worry about Taysom Hill anymore,
- 44:57Speaker 1: and thank god we don't.
- 44:59Speaker 3: How speaking of Tampa, do you need to talk about
- 45:02Speaker 3: this situation?
- 45:03Speaker 1: That's our next topic on the contract debate Vidaveya and
- 45:09Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. Vitaveya literally told the Buccaneers, I want out,
- 45:15Speaker 1: and according to the reports, he wants to go to
- 45:18Speaker 1: either a West Coast team or the Raiders. Like, okay,
- 45:23Speaker 1: I get the West Coast vibe because he always seemed
- 45:27Speaker 1: like a West Coast kid, and apparently he grew up
- 45:30Speaker 1: in California, he went to college in Washington. I'm pretty
- 45:34Speaker 1: sure he's either Hawaiian or Samoan if I remember correctly,
- 45:38Speaker 1: because his his birth name is.
- 45:42Speaker 4: One of those long yes, one of the.
- 45:46Speaker 1: Oh the Island the island names in part with the
- 45:49Speaker 1: island culture. So I can see him going to a
- 45:53Speaker 1: West Coast team, but the Raiders like.
- 45:58Speaker 3: How badly you want to play with Max Crosby. I
- 46:03Speaker 3: don't know.
- 46:04Speaker 4: I don't know, because yeah, I don't know. I think
- 46:08Speaker 4: that honestly, if he goes to a West Coast.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Team, I could see the Chargers making a play for him.
- 46:17Speaker 3: You know my comments because you know, every everyone in
- 46:20Speaker 3: my area just doesn't like the Chargers because like the
- 46:22Speaker 3: never we're supposed to be here. You know, there's always
- 46:23Speaker 3: a debate why did they go to Los Angeles? Why
- 46:25Speaker 3: did they San Diego? I know, just insulty people like
- 46:28Speaker 3: amongst those groups. But Vitavea to the Chargers. I don't
- 46:33Speaker 3: know if this is a defensive issues because I think
- 46:35Speaker 3: the bigger defensive loss isn't exactly a player. It was
- 46:38Speaker 3: Jesse Minter.
- 46:41Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, sometimes the defensive coordinator is the issue,
- 46:44Speaker 1: but not the reason that I say Vida Veya in
- 46:47Speaker 1: the powder blue of the Chargers is if I'm not mistaken,
- 46:51Speaker 1: he's from the LA area, right, Uh from California.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he's from California.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he. I think he's either from the
- 47:02Speaker 4: southern A.
- 47:02Speaker 1: I don't think he was like up by the Sacramento
- 47:05Speaker 1: San Francisco area, but.
- 47:08Speaker 4: I don't think I don't think the forty nine Ers
- 47:11Speaker 4: can make a play for Vita Vea. And if the
- 47:15Speaker 4: Rams try to make a.
- 47:16Speaker 1: Play for him, well yeah, I think Aaron Donald will
- 47:21Speaker 1: be coming out of retirement.
- 47:23Speaker 2: Uh.
- 47:23Speaker 3: Actually, just to look this up, he's in fees from
- 47:26Speaker 3: mil Pizzas, which is nearby San Jose.
- 47:30Speaker 1: Okay, so yeah, Chargers in play, but moving on to
- 47:38Speaker 1: his teammate right now until such time that, uh, either
- 47:42Speaker 1: he gets a contract or he gets out. I mean,
- 47:45Speaker 1: Baker came out and he actively lambasted the Buccaneers front office.
- 47:52Speaker 1: He lambasted the Glazer family and the team, saying he
- 47:57Speaker 1: felt disrespected on his off which I guess was a
- 48:02Speaker 1: two year deal in reports of a little over fifty
- 48:07Speaker 1: million per year on average. And look, I will admit
- 48:13Speaker 1: Baker has done well in Tampa. It feels like when
- 48:17Speaker 1: you know it's a team and it's a match for
- 48:20Speaker 1: a player, it's just perfect and Baker fits Tampa Bay.
- 48:24Speaker 1: I will say that candidly. That said, Baker Mayfield is
- 48:31Speaker 1: not a fifty million.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Dollar a year quarterback. If you gave him forty.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Eight and a half to forty nine over four to
- 48:43Speaker 1: five years, and that's being generous, I think that's fair
- 48:48Speaker 1: market value for Baker. He is not a fifty million
- 48:52Speaker 1: dollar a year quarterback. In my opinion, I don't.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Think his issue was the the money. Well, let me
- 49:00Speaker 2: rephrase that. His definitely part of the issue was the money,
- 49:02Speaker 2: because there was a lot of that fifty million over
- 49:05Speaker 2: of you know, you know over a two year period,
- 49:08Speaker 2: you know, fifty million year one, fifty million year two.
- 49:10Speaker 2: That was pretty much contingent on Tampa Bay wanting him
- 49:14Speaker 2: to steal the moon. That was the that was that
- 49:17Speaker 2: was the money. That's where the money was. As they
- 49:19Speaker 2: wanted him to steal the moon for the team. But he,
- 49:23Speaker 2: like you said, like you know, the team fits him.
- 49:25Speaker 2: He wants in Tampa Bay for longer than two years.
- 49:29Speaker 2: He's shown that he can improve the team. He's, honest
- 49:32Speaker 2: to God, probably the best fit for the team since
- 49:34Speaker 2: you know, Brady decided to go run, make her run
- 49:36Speaker 2: the Tampa Bay and be like, ah, I look at me, bitches,
- 49:38Speaker 2: I can gound win the Super Bowl somewhere else. And
- 49:42Speaker 2: like the man. I loved watching that man play at Oklahoma.
- 49:46Speaker 2: He is. That man is an absolute dog. I'd love
- 49:49Speaker 2: to see Tampa Bay pay him, but I definitely think
- 49:53Speaker 2: he is worth more guaranteed money than what Tampa Bay
- 49:58Speaker 2: was offering him.
- 50:01Speaker 3: I do agree because looking at a two year, fifty
- 50:04Speaker 3: million dollars a year contract, I mean it's enticing. But
- 50:09Speaker 3: if Baker values, you know, longevity, wants to stay in
- 50:13Speaker 3: Tampa Bay despite you know, the issues where everyone and
- 50:16Speaker 3: their mother on social media is crying at Todd Bowles
- 50:19Speaker 3: is the issue in Tampa Bay because like.
- 50:20Speaker 4: I mean, he, I mean he is, but that's neither
- 50:23Speaker 4: here nor there.
- 50:24Speaker 3: Yeah, but heky, So I'll let me to finish. So
- 50:27Speaker 3: Baker has been elevating this team, you know, since Brady's
- 50:32Speaker 3: a real retirement, and the other thing is just like
- 50:35Speaker 3: what is Tampa Bay without Baker Mayfield? And I'm pretty
- 50:39Speaker 3: sure Baker is like screaming, you need me, you need
- 50:42Speaker 3: me for a long time. Two years is not long.
- 50:45Speaker 4: Well, I mean they're backup. Is Kyle Trask.
- 50:47Speaker 1: That should that honestly should say a lot about the
- 50:52Speaker 1: Bucks contingency plans because Kyle Trask is not good.
- 50:56Speaker 3: Not only that he's not been proven, because he was
- 50:58Speaker 3: supposed to be because seasy for Rador Brady until Baker
- 51:02Speaker 3: Mayfield got that contract awarded with the Los Angeles Rams performance.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I think I think the Bucks front office they realized
- 51:11Speaker 1: that Kyle Trask was not the answer when in a
- 51:14Speaker 1: meaningless game, Brandon I'm because I remember this game, Kyle
- 51:20Speaker 1: Trask couldn't beat out Desmond Ridder. So if you can't
- 51:26Speaker 1: beat out Desmond Ridder, who admittedly.
- 51:29Speaker 4: I have.
- 51:32Speaker 1: Look back in twenty twenty three, I drank the kool aid.
- 51:34Speaker 1: I thought Desmond Ridder was going to be the future
- 51:37Speaker 1: in Atlanta. Boy was I wrong on that when I was.
- 51:42Speaker 4: So so so so so so so wrong on Desmond Ridder.
- 51:48Speaker 1: But if you can't beat him, then you are not
- 51:54Speaker 1: NFL quarterback worthy because Ridder was horrible.
- 51:58Speaker 2: So just just a small correction to make here, just
- 52:01Speaker 2: so you know, because I'm sure if anyone's actually listening,
- 52:03Speaker 2: they're going to turn on and call us out on
- 52:05Speaker 2: it too. So Kyle Trask is actually no longer a
- 52:08Speaker 2: Tampa Bay buccaneer. He actually worked out with the Carolina
- 52:11Speaker 2: Panthers and the New Orleans Saints for that.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Yeah, how I forgot that?
- 52:15Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're back up to the field. Is actually
- 52:18Speaker 2: significantly worse than Kyle Trask. And that's Jake Browning.
- 52:23Speaker 3: Oh hey, a long time Bengals quarterback when Joe Burrow
- 52:26Speaker 3: was hurt.
- 52:28Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, then yeah they they need Baker. But again,
- 52:32Speaker 1: I would not be paying him fifty million a year guaranteed, respectfully,
- 52:37Speaker 1: I don't think Baker is.
- 52:39Speaker 2: No not guaranteed, No, not guarantee. No, He's worth more
- 52:42Speaker 2: money in terms of guaranteed than what Tampa Bay was
- 52:44Speaker 2: offering him. But Mike no, like from the rumors of
- 52:50Speaker 2: what he was allegedly offered by Tampa Bay, it's that
- 52:54Speaker 2: was basically saying, here, you can have this money, but
- 52:56Speaker 2: the only thing that you get guaranteed is like a
- 52:58Speaker 2: sandwich and a coke.
- 53:00Speaker 4: So but now what kind of sandwich was it?
- 53:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Whatever he lacks. I guess shit,
- 53:10Speaker 2: Jameis Winston look and got some crawd lags to go
- 53:12Speaker 2: with it. I don't know.
- 53:14Speaker 1: I mean there's a Publix right down the road from
- 53:15Speaker 1: the Bucks training camp exactly. But staying in the division
- 53:21Speaker 1: because we've kept the NFC South in line, but this
- 53:24Speaker 1: is going to not only be the NFC South, this
- 53:26Speaker 1: is going to be the NFC North. Uh.
- 53:29Speaker 4: We are going to start with.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Extensions in the NFC South. We had Matthew bergeron the
- 53:36Speaker 1: Falcons left guard. He just signed a four year extension
- 53:41Speaker 1: for twenty four million ap Y. Now, respectfully, it feels
- 53:47Speaker 1: a little bit like an overpay, but at the same time,
- 53:51Speaker 1: you like what Atlanta is doing. They are locking up
- 53:54Speaker 1: their offensive line because Atlanta's offensive line with the running
- 53:58Speaker 1: back combination they have now uh B Robinson and B Robinson.
- 54:04Speaker 1: So I hope that people read the fantasy drafts and
- 54:09Speaker 1: pick the correct B Robinson when it comes time, but.
- 54:15Speaker 2: I am you want them to pick the wrong B
- 54:18Speaker 2: Robinson so you can get the right one.
- 54:20Speaker 4: But see that's a thing. Which one is the right one?
- 54:25Speaker 4: That's the that's the ultimate.
- 54:26Speaker 3: That's also dependent on what fantasy drafts to use offensive
- 54:29Speaker 3: lineman at all, because I appreciated you just relegate offensive
- 54:31Speaker 3: linement to teams and not uh skill positions.
- 54:35Speaker 1: Well yeah, you don't draft offensive lineman in fantasy, but
- 54:38Speaker 1: it's it's the whole principle of getting your offensive line,
- 54:43Speaker 1: because I still maintain if five can't protect a camp
- 54:46Speaker 1: block for four from four, there's an issue. But not
- 54:51Speaker 1: only did Bergeron get an extension, we saw Drake London
- 54:57Speaker 1: get an extension and Chris olave It got an extension.
- 55:01Speaker 4: And again not trying.
- 55:05Speaker 1: To keep my bias in, but Drake London is a
- 55:08Speaker 1: much better receiver than Chris o' lobby.
- 55:10Speaker 2: And first of all, you shut your damn mouth Chris Olave.
- 55:14Speaker 2: I sat here at for fucking days that we would
- 55:18Speaker 2: trade for Chris o'lave. Are you kidding me? Right now?
- 55:20Speaker 3: Before the Stay J.
- 55:21Speaker 2: Brown rumors came true, observe here like, please do not
- 55:24Speaker 2: pay this man, Please do not pay this man. I
- 55:26Speaker 2: wanted Chris o'lve on my some day of Patriot uniforms. No,
- 55:31Speaker 2: Chris o'lave is a wonderful receiver. That man is worth
- 55:34Speaker 2: every penny he was paid. I'll dial that hill.
- 55:39Speaker 4: I think I ruffled.
- 55:42Speaker 3: No, No, I'm actually just curious because, like Chris, a
- 55:45Speaker 3: love is to give receiver. But I remember a lot
- 55:46Speaker 3: of people lad him is a concussion magnet, Chris, like
- 55:49Speaker 3: the infamous Derek car passes when Carr was the quarterback
- 55:52Speaker 3: for the Saints. But I actually need to ask you, yes, Brandon,
- 55:55Speaker 3: if you if you feed the Patriots needed a lobby,
- 55:57Speaker 3: what did a fit a love?
- 56:00Speaker 2: They probably would have been more than that little slot
- 56:01Speaker 2: receiver to backfield. What we were missing since Julian Edelman
- 56:04Speaker 2: had left. At the same time, he's really good at
- 56:06Speaker 2: and doing his little quick breakoffs and pivots to these
- 56:08Speaker 2: little wire outs. That's something else that we were kind
- 56:10Speaker 2: of missing in last year's offensive line two.
- 56:16Speaker 1: I mean again, like I still maintained that Drake London
- 56:20Speaker 1: is better than Olave Brandon.
- 56:24Speaker 2: That's a lit wrong.
- 56:26Speaker 3: Wow, What are we gonna talk about now? Jaalen Cocher?
- 56:32Speaker 4: Why?
- 56:33Speaker 1: Why would we talk about Jalen Cocher? That's like talking
- 56:35Speaker 1: about Xavier League.
- 56:35Speaker 2: Get I just I just kind of want to put
- 56:40Speaker 2: out here since since we're kind of comparing Elive to
- 56:43Speaker 2: London right now, let's just take a look to twenty
- 56:45Speaker 2: twenty five stat totals between the two right right twenty
- 56:50Speaker 2: twenty five season, Drake London sixty eight receptions, nine hundred
- 56:54Speaker 2: nineteen yards, seven receiving touchdowns, average thirteen point five yards per.
- 56:58Speaker 4: Catch, including three on your.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Patriots, included three on my Patriots in order in respective order.
- 57:04Speaker 2: That's ranked thirty sixth in the league, twenty fourth in
- 57:07Speaker 2: the league, tied for fifteenth, and touchdowns, and ranked thirty
- 57:09Speaker 2: third in the league among receivers. Chris o'lave one hundred receptions,
- 57:15Speaker 2: one one hundred and sixty three yards ninety ds and
- 57:19Speaker 2: eleven point six yards per catch. That's ranked seventh, eighth,
- 57:23Speaker 2: tied for eighth, and sixty fifth so again I will
- 57:26Speaker 2: die on the hill that Chris o'lave, even without the paper,
- 57:29Speaker 2: is a better receiver than Drake London. By miles. Well,
- 57:35Speaker 2: there's also some salt in there from the Patriots game.
- 57:37Speaker 2: But we are not going to talk about brunow.
- 57:40Speaker 4: A, right.
- 57:42Speaker 1: I mean, we will talk about how Drake London made
- 57:46Speaker 1: Christian Gonzalez his little puppy dog on that one double
- 57:51Speaker 1: move up the left side where Christian Gonzalez is basically
- 57:54Speaker 1: knocked loopy and unconscious because of Drake London. But yeah,
- 58:00Speaker 1: we don't talk about how that game ended. But outside
- 58:05Speaker 1: of those players and a little bit of friendly banter
- 58:09Speaker 1: from the two of us, let's talk about the two
- 58:12Speaker 1: players who we do want to see get extensions and
- 58:16Speaker 1: they are currently being hold in in their respective training camps.
- 58:22Speaker 1: And that's Jamier Gibbs and Bajon and as much and again,
- 58:27Speaker 1: at least from my vantage point, at least on the
- 58:31Speaker 1: Bajon side, I am David Ortiz right now with Freddie
- 58:35Speaker 1: Freeman after the Braves won the World Series. I've got
- 58:38Speaker 1: the money guns and I'm just like by the then.
- 58:42Speaker 2: Bye the min.
- 58:46Speaker 3: I do remember something I saw. It's out of Jason McIntyre.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I believe that's who he is from.
- 58:52Speaker 4: Oh yes, oh yes.
- 58:54Speaker 3: I want to talk about he's the one advocating for
- 58:58Speaker 3: Chicago the trade for Bees Robinson.
- 59:01Speaker 1: Yeah, And this is what I say to Jason McIntyre.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I respect what he did by creating his company, The
- 59:09Speaker 1: Big Lead, and I believe he sold it to Fox Sports.
- 59:13Speaker 1: That's why he's got that cushy job on Fox Sports.
- 59:17Speaker 1: And he's got that job as Cowherd's assistant on The
- 59:22Speaker 1: Herd every week now because Cowherd had a rotating group
- 59:27Speaker 1: of guest hosts. But Jason McIntyre on behalf of the
- 59:33Speaker 1: Atlanta Falcons fan base. Please take this to heart. If
- 59:40Speaker 1: you think the Falcons are gonna trade Bejon Robinson to
- 59:45Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears, Fuck you.
- 59:52Speaker 5: So, Tommy Fair.
- 59:53Speaker 2: I mean, on the same grounds, no one really expected
- 59:55Speaker 2: the Giants to ship off Saquon to the Eagles. Bye.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: I would like to think your GM's a little bit
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: smarter than that.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Why would And let me also bring that up because
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: again this is why I say, that's a Jason McIntyre.
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: And again I respect I put that caddy out there.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I respect what he did by creating his media company
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: and doing what he did with USA Today and Fox
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: Sports and all that. Why would the Falcons brand news, brand,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: shiny new general manager who just came from the Chicago Bears,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: mind you, trade the Falcon's best player to the Chicago Bears.
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: That's like saying Terry Fontin though last the last four years,
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: was going to trade for Alvin Kamara, Chris o'lave, Michael Thomas,
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: and Cameron Jordan and bring them to Atlanta. And Cameron
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Jordan has said he would rather die than be traded
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: to the Falcons. He is the lifeblood of New Orleans
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: Saints Atlanta Falcons rivalry.
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: Talk about public ruffling the feathers.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Yeah, I had to get that off my chest because
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: that was completely asinine, to the point of why is
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: this man on a national public radio station with that
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: kind of ludic ris blasphemous bullshit.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: And he's out here saying that Chris that Caleb Williams
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: needs all the help he can get. He thinks that
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: Caleb that DJ opposite the Bears would actually make bavarias
- 1:01:34Speaker 3: a top tier team. But I asked, you have.
- 1:01:36Speaker 4: A will make any team a top tier team?
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: I'd be finished. I was just saying, but if they
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: even if they did exciting, let's be right, they're not
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: gonna do it. Even if they did, what would the
- 1:01:47Speaker 3: Bears even give up?
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: They'd had to start with three ones. Let's put that
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: out there. They'd have to start with three ones at minimum.
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: But even then, Atlanta is not trading Jon Robinson. He
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: is not leaving that building without a contract in hand
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: from Atlanta because that was completely Look, I was so
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: livid when I saw that clip on Twitter and it
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: said that he just said that I was living. It
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: was like, you really let those words come out of
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: your mouth. Like, is Fox Sports Radio just battening down
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and going to the lowest common denominator for these hot takes?
- 1:02:39Speaker 4: Right now? We've got better hot takes and we're only
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: two episodes in.
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: Okay, okay, I want to send this in now. I
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: want to see he's sarting with Jamir gives now and uh,
- 1:02:50Speaker 3: I actually have a really strong reasoning for this, Like
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: it's Timmy Grips. I mean, obviously he Brandon also mentioned
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: that he would take Jamir first in the fantasy draft.
- 1:02:58Speaker 3: Ife is ones, but guess it's a very explicit player.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: You know, since this rookie season. Got that got the
- 1:03:08Speaker 3: Lions of the NSC championship came for the first seven years.
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: And to me this sounds like a bad thing because
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: remember the Lions did not resign David Montgomery. He's with
- 1:03:18Speaker 3: the using Texans now and its just it's just baffling
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: because it's like, are they really trying to make a
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: push to be kept back to the playoffs or are
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: is this just like another signs like oh, this is
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: just a glimpse of of a barage.
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: And by the way, speaking of the Jamier Gibbs part
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: of things nova and again this is another thing for MacIntyre.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: According to Ian Rappaport, as of ten am this morning
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: on Sunday, August second, the Falcons and Baijan are actually
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: talking still about contract extension. The Lions and jamieir Gibbs
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: don't seem to be as active. Those are words from
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: the best NFL insider in the game, so take that
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: to heart.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Especially only reliable NFL insider in today's world.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Honestly, I mean I still give I still give Chefter
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: his due on occasion, but it's still like it's like
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Rappapoor is the NFL guy.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: Ken Rosenthal is the MLB guy.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Dam it used to be Woes, but now it's Shams
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: and whoever is the NHL.
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: But yeah, I go back to the whole lion Sey
- 1:04:33Speaker 3: because you know, they were known for the last two
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: years for the sonic and nuckles combination of David Montgomery
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: and Jimi or Gabs and that was anty in my opinion,
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: this is a hot take that the best running back
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: duo room that the NFL.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: See, Oh, I would. I would go with that every
- 1:04:46Speaker 4: day of the week.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: I because you because you had a speedback that was
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: great for eastern, East and west running and then you
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: had your power back for north and south.
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: Yeah, but it says like the whole baffling thing for
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: me is like they got rid of David Montgomery, who's
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: now signed with the Houston Texans, who we're going to
- 1:05:05Speaker 3: talk about it a bit. And now this this whole
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: the Lendon look Tamir Gibbs and what he's worth and
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: with the hold out there is it's like, all right,
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: at he was trying to, you know, revert the decisions
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: that they made when they first got David Montgomery.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Well, I'm over here looking at I'm looking at the
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: ESPN's kind of like synopsis of you know, their little
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: contract extensions, and it's got on here. It's got a
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: quote from Jamiir Gibbs saying, quote, I'm worried about the team.
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: I'm just trying to hoop right now. I don't really
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: pay attention to all that stuff. Basically just letting his
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: agent negotiate with Detroit on his own. He ain't worried
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: about the extension. He knows he wants, he knows he
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: wants to stay there. It's just a matter of letting
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: his agent work it out. He's over here, he's still
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: playing ball, just doing his job. I don't think he's
- 1:05:48Speaker 2: I don't think he's too worried about getting an extension.
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: I think he's just kind of doing his own thing
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: right now. Okay, I don't think he's going anywhere. Detroit
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: would be stupid to let man that man and David
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: Montgomery go.
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think.
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: I don't think so either on that side of things.
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: But that is the running back side of things. Let's
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: at least talk about some other contract players and let's
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: do rapid fire on these ones.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Guys.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: First, uf Deebo Samuel one year, seven million dollars. He's
- 1:06:26Speaker 4: going back to San Francisco. How was that gonna work?
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: Hard? Diet?
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: The other than if Brandon has some strong worris for Devo,
- 1:06:35Speaker 3: because we actually had it behind the scenes discussion on
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: this episode and he had strong work for Devo.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Man, it's so overrated. It's not even funny. It is.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: It's not it's funny. God, I don't know if y'all
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: remember what was it? Was it Eddie Lacy? Is Eddie
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Lacey playing for Green Bay and the weight game that
- 1:06:54Speaker 2: he had coming over there trying to like pay me
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: and this man's over here while walking in out and
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: feels very doe boys hard whenever he's coming back to
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: the Houston Rockets, you know over here they man had
- 1:07:05Speaker 2: too much Chinese or something, and I'm like, dude, come on,
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: where are you going with all that?
- 1:07:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: I mean, where are you going with that? And let's
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: see how long it takes him to get in shape.
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: Next up, Jalen Carter, defensive tackle of the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: Huge four year extension and in all fairness, that is
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: probably the most fearsome two man tandem in the a
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: gap in the NFL right now with him and Jordan
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Davis absolutely deserved for Jalen Carter Any debates on that.
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: No, I think that's yeah. I think that's pretty pretty deserving.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Remember when how he roastman was for would to be
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: fired and then he's turned his Eagles front office and
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: the team into whatever it is right now.
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: Imagine that.
- 1:07:54Speaker 4: Imagine that.
- 1:07:57Speaker 3: And man I speaking of the Texans, I do want
- 1:07:59Speaker 3: to add this as well, jade Fion Clowney today at
- 1:08:02Speaker 3: this recording, August second, has signed with the Houston Texans,
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: a team to slid him in first overall twenty fourteen,
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: to a one year deal, adding on to a feersome
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Texan defense with with Heckers, Demigo Ryans, and.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Will Anderson, who's still really fricking good as another off
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: ball linebacker and edge rusher.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: So I would be scared of Clowney coming off the edge.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: Clowney will probably be the player best task with the
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: left tackle because it feels like Anderson is better on
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: the right tackle because that gives him more power and
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: easier access to the quarterback.
- 1:08:42Speaker 4: He doesn't have to worry about the blind side.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: He actually wants the quarterback to see him coming, and
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: that allows Clowney to come on the other side of
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: Clowney can still be left tackles in this league.
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: Out of my one worry with the Texans still remains
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: local sol coal products. CJ. Straud. He's on his contract
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: year and he's gotten worse every year since. For any
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: wikie at the year, and I think Brandon gonna tested
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: that from last year.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: I was gonna make a comment that defense could be
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: anything that it wants to be, but it still does
- 1:09:10Speaker 2: a sub CJ. Stroud from throwing four picks in a
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: playoff game.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: Yeah, it doesn't stop CJ. Stroud from that. But moving
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: along on the remaining contract players. Brian O'Neill offensive lineman
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: from the Minnesota Vikings signing and extension. We did just
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: talk about Berger on getting extension. Brian O'Neill. That was
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: a really well deserved contract extension for him as well.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: If I remember correctly, he has been the Vikings right
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: tackle for the last five years or something like that.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Something like that.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm actually about to look that up real quick
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: so I get that correctly.
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: I mean, kylot, Marie Say's all to help he can
- 1:09:55Speaker 3: get as well as J. J. McCarthy, depending on who
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: Kevin o'connall ultimately goes out there or if he somehow
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: decides to go for a two quarterback system, if he's
- 1:10:02Speaker 3: a madman, but I hope you can get it.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: Yeah, So this will this would be his uh seventh
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: year in the NFL, going on his eighth year, So
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: this twenty twenty six season is his eight season. Brian
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: O'Neil absolutely deserved for his extension.
- 1:10:22Speaker 4: So there is that.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: And let's round it out with everybody's favorite team to
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: feel sorry for. That isn't the New York Jets, And
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: that's that is the Cleveland Browns, because they signed Denzel
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: Ward and Graham Delpit to a two year and a
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: three year deal respectively, and honestly, very well deserved for
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: both of them.
- 1:10:45Speaker 4: I like it.
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: I mean as a arrival, I note that how good
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: dentel Ward is last quarterback he's ark he would have
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: the best in the league. And you know, for as
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: long as that Cleveland defense was good, you know, the
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: two years that they made the playoffs, they were fearsome,
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: especially with Baking Mayfield tech quarterback. But you know what
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: has happened since then. I mean, you could keep the
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: players happy, to keep the defense happy, but Devis and
- 1:11:07Speaker 3: Cleveland are not there anymore since those playoff appearances.
- 1:11:11Speaker 4: Those vibes are not there.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: But I am happy for Denzel Ward and for grand
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: Del Pigain in those extensions, two really good players in
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: the Browns secondary. But we have to talk about the
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: other player in Cleveland that is talking about a new deal.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: Question Mark Giors Sanders just joined the league. Certainly it's
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: not Dashaun Watson.
- 1:11:40Speaker 4: Oh, but you would be correct. You would be correct, sir.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: According to Jeff Shootle, Deshaun Watson would be open to
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: signing a new contract with the Browns when the current
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty million fully guarantee the deal expires.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: H Watson absolutely fucking robbed that franchise.
- 1:12:10Speaker 4: And thank god he didn't come to Atlanta.
- 1:12:13Speaker 5: God they rob them blind.
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: It's like it's the same level as Aaron Rodgers taking
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: the first snap in the Jets Jersey.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: Essentially, you are correct on that one, Brandon. I mean, look,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I know I got flag for this when I said
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: it a few years ago. I we can debate about
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: how heinous his actions were off the field for years
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: to come, and they were heinous. I'm a I'm of
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: the belief that if you get injured the first time, okay,
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: there's your car, there's the Karmick justice working for you.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: But if you're rehabbing that injury and you rerupture that injury,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: then I start to feel a little sorry for you.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: But at the same time, I agree the Cleveland Browns
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: got swindled. That's like paying fifty thousand dollars for a
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: brand new car with no mileage, no accidents, and you
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: get a lemon.
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: I remember they tell us the Sean over Baker. Look
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: where I ended up.
- 1:13:36Speaker 4: I mean, you are correct there, Brandon, No that you
- 1:13:40Speaker 4: are correct there. I don't know.
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, I.
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: Need to figure stuff out.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: But maybe we could figure Actually I might be drunk
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: right now, which goes very seamlessly into our next topic.
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: Do we wanted to say us what happened with a
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: certain NFL quarterback that retired and knocked up another NFL
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: quarterback from his fancy schmancy broadcasting gig and did well?
- 1:14:14Speaker 4: But now we might not have that job no more.
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: I just.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: I just got about Cowboys.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: We're not even talking about the franchise. Man, What are
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: we doing?
- 1:14:35Speaker 2: Such a decline here lately?
- 1:14:38Speaker 1: Poor, poor Tony ra and again he was so great
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: on the call with Jim Nance, like that kind of
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: commentary duo.
- 1:14:48Speaker 4: It's few and far between, it really is.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: And early in Romo's broadcaster, I know he was getting
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: praised left and right because he was called on the
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: play before the play happened, like he could identify the
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: play right then and there, and it was just like
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: you could hear Jim Nance in his voice. He was
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: just like, wow, this is great, Like we're actually getting
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: the play before the play comes in. Like that's few
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: and far between, but it helps out when you're a
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: quarterback and you've seen every single defense and every single
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: defensive scheme, every single defensive.
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: Layout from a base to a four to three to
- 1:15:29Speaker 4: a three four, to.
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: A dive package to a nickel package, to the Penny
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: package to the goal line to the I need to
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: hold a football and I can't do it well.
- 1:15:39Speaker 2: It's like that's specifically, remember like that exact game that
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: comes to mind whenever you mention that was actually the
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: AFCC game between New England and Kansas City. And he's
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: over here, Colin. I don't remember if it was the
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: end of regulation or if it was the start of
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: overtime when New England was driving down the field on
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: Kansas City. He's doing that exact thing that you just
- 1:16:01Speaker 2: said down He's over here just calling the place, seeing
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: how they're lined up, and he's calling it on point
- 1:16:06Speaker 2: on point, on point, on point on point, and I
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: just I just remember sitting there listening to the game.
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: I'm sitting here like damn. So this is what it's
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: like inside of the mind of Tony Rumbo. Because even
- 1:16:14Speaker 2: though I hate the Cowboys with a burning passion, that
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: man was as rough and rumble as they come for
- 1:16:21Speaker 2: them Cowboys. He was a great scrambler. He had his
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: insane football IQ which which unfortunately has declined over the years.
- 1:16:29Speaker 2: But that man was really impressive as a color commentator
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: with Jim Nants whenever he first got on the horn.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's sad, man, It's just sad.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: But one one commentator's loss is another commentator's game.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: And how funny is it that from the count for
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Jim Nants he goes from a cowboy to a Texan.
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: As his commentary partner. Because it's going.
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: To be JJ Watt taking over Tony Romo's spot this year.
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: What are your guys' thoughts on jj Watt as a commentator.
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: I mean you have not seen him vi an Eagle.
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: I mean I have that you should know he's actually
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: been pretty good as a commentator as well. You know,
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: he made anybody work. I mean, you've seen with Dan
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: Fouts before, you've seen with Charles Davis and now JJ Watt,
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: and man, it just feels like JJ Watt he had
- 1:17:29Speaker 3: this one coming, you know, definitely a Hall of Fame
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: war we defensive end career with both the Texans and
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: the Cardinals, and his defense in mind and his overall
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: charismatic energy. I've definitely carried on well in his time
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: as CBS, and I do not doubt that he will
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: fill in shoes with Tony Robot, which, by the way,
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: I'm gonna add that I had a source. I'm just
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: gonna pull this up real quick that Okay, he had
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: like seventy million dollars left on his deal with CBS
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: four nure four years before the arrest.
- 1:18:02Speaker 5: And now we don't know, we don't have a clue.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: I will say that I would have really liked to
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: have seen and maybe at some point in the future
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: we will Greg Olsen with jj Watt as far as
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: a commentator who is concerned because you have Greg Olsen,
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: who you know, arguably was probably one of the best
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: tight ends that you know, Carolina has had. He has
- 1:18:24Speaker 2: a great offensive mine in JJ Wattson obviously excellent defensive mentality.
- 1:18:29Speaker 2: I would have liked to have seen where that sort
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: of color commentary would have went between two players of
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: their caliber.
- 1:18:36Speaker 4: Honestly, I would have as well.
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: But it is what it is.
- 1:18:42Speaker 4: With Tony Romo.
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if we'll see him back
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: in probably an NFL broadcast in Booth. Maybe he goes
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: to the NFL today, because at least then he won't
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: have to worry about uh sitting down in a broadcast.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: He'll just have to worry about sitting at a table
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: with UH nate coach Boomer and uh, actually no, he could.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: He could be the fifth guy on that now that
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: I think about it.
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: Yeah, because Matt Ryan was there before.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: No, yeah, man Ryan, and now he's president of football.
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: But I think that wraps up to Tony Romo discussion, guys,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: And I think it's time. It's time, guys, we need
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: to ruffle some feathers.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: Did you get in my backyard all of a sudden.
- 1:19:47Speaker 4: I mean, did you, I mean you never you never know?
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: Dang dong.
- 1:19:55Speaker 4: Oh man.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: But Brandon, since you had the great line right there,
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: but what is your first training camp week ruffling the feathers?
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Oh gosh, And don't say.
- 1:20:13Speaker 4: A lobby is better than Drake one.
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Already. I mean, I'm sorry to quote, to quote a
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: famous movie line, you can't handle the truth really realistically.
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: The only the only hot take that I would personally
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: have more than I would classify as a hot take
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: is obviously you know, there's a bit of a rivalry
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: quote unquote. I use that term very very loosely between
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: the Patriots and the Giants. What I would really like
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: to see this year is either how much better John
- 1:20:52Speaker 2: Harbaugh is gonna make that team coming from Baltimore, or
- 1:20:56Speaker 2: how much worse he's going to have made it with
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: a Because in my opinion, and and and Nova can
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: disagree with us if he wants to, John Harbaugh has
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: never had a good offensive mindset. He's always been better
- 1:21:09Speaker 2: on defense. And I'd use that very loosely. But the
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: signing of OBJ back to the Giants, it's confirmed. He's
- 1:21:18Speaker 2: been in training camp, he's been doing eleven on eleven's.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: He's been doing eleven on eleven's with everybody, so he's
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: he's there, whether or not he's part of the or
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: not he's part of the main you know, starting day
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: or rosters yet to be seen. But I think Obj
- 1:21:34Speaker 2: going back to where he you know, where his roots were.
- 1:21:36Speaker 2: I think him and Harbaugh is gonna make that team
- 1:21:38Speaker 2: a lot worse.
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: I mean, have you not seen what he did last year?
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: He hired zach Or to beat defensive coordinator exact.
- 1:21:48Speaker 2: Exactly, and I mean, you got you got skataboo. He
- 1:21:51Speaker 2: needs to be healthy again, and you need to keep
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: Batman running telephone poles.
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: I did this as well because uh, Matt Nacki's the
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: offensive coordinator.
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: Okay, so the Johnts are gonna be on the next
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: hard School of Hard Knocks. There, They're gonna be on
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: the next HBO documentary. Okay, Yeah, it's cool. Problem solved.
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: Yeah No, I think I think the Giants are probably
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: gonna be this year's Owen seventeen team.
- 1:22:11Speaker 1: Oh my god, Oh my god, Owen seventeen for the Giant.
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: You don't believe in Jackson Dart.
- 1:22:24Speaker 4: I like Jackson. I like Jackson Dart I liked.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: I like a man who sat there and ran into
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: fucking telephone polls whenever he was in high school in college. Like,
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: I love that misordermenttality that they got that dog. And
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: I don't think Harball's good for that team. I think
- 1:22:39Speaker 2: he drags them done into the dirt further.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Relentless chokes.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I think I think this is the year. I
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: think within the first two years of Harbaugh's contract that
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: if he has not made the playoffs by the end
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: of his second year, that he's out the door.
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: That's that's that's to be a true statement, because that
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: they've done that like every other time.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Yeah, but Nova, what is your roughland the feather? Like,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: let's let's keep it going. We got to own seventeen.
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: How can you top that?
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: How about a little coaching beef between Ben Johnson and
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: Liam Cohen Because I was actually talking to this before
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: we got started with this episode, and I could bring
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: this up right now thanks to good sources on social
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: media Ari Mayrov for my sports Update. And there's this
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: whole debate which started with William Cohen saying it's easy
- 1:23:30Speaker 3: to motivate his players because nobody talks about the Jacksonville Jaguars,
- 1:23:33Speaker 3: and he quote said, I look at the NFL website
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: and see this entiting on the Jaguars. I think I'll
- 1:23:38Speaker 3: see forty fixtures of Caleb Williams and nothing on us.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: It's beautiful, to which Jen Johnson responds out their name
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: dropping Caleb Williams while we're the number one regression candidate,
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: So I think we got plenty of motivation in ourselves.
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: We talked about Caleb in the past, he used He's
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: used to handling a lot of attendent, so I'm not
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: worried about that. And so what I might say is
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: not really a hot take per se, But like, what
- 1:24:02Speaker 3: if both Chicago and Jacksonville missed the playoffs and then
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: this beef ends up being like overly blown oh, because
- 1:24:16Speaker 3: remember both these teams were surprising from the previous season.
- 1:24:20Speaker 3: From the twenty twenty five seasons to the twenty twenty
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: six season, they were both surprises gonna be I initially
- 1:24:25Speaker 3: thought Jacksonville is actually gonna make the Super Bowl, and
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: then Chicago had that impressive run when they nearly beat
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: the Rams up until DJ Morist running his route. But
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: with this beef in mind, I think the hot take
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: those both. Both these teams might end up out of
- 1:24:37Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 1:24:40Speaker 4: Dang, that's only one weekend of training camp, Brandon.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: And we're gonna have two of the division winners just
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: outright and missing the playoffs.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: To be fair, Jacksonville's division is not exactly something that
- 1:24:52Speaker 2: anyone holds in a high standard.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Reason. Remember this this whole beef three Ben Jonson and
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: Leam Cohen for some reason. So I think that might
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: be a distraction.
- 1:25:05Speaker 2: God love it if that games between they want to
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: be in a tie.
- 1:25:13Speaker 4: Man, if their game ended and out high, that would
- 1:25:16Speaker 4: be crazy.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: But I'm actually gonna go off on I mean, I'm
- 1:25:22Speaker 1: actually gonna say this as my hot take ruffling the
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: feather segment for the week winter training camp, and I'm
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: actually gonna go with Patrick Mahomes will not break thirty
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: five hundred passing yards this season.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: I mean, Kenneth Walker plays good, I could see that.
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: No, I'm actually saying, even if Kenneth Walker doesn't play well,
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: Mahomes will not break thirty five hundred passing yards. I
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: just saw a clip on from Chiefs training camp. He
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: had a it was some kind of a passing play
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: and he threw it right at his center.
- 1:26:03Speaker 3: Oh see, you think the ACL injuries a lot worse
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: than you give it credit for.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: I think he's going to be a little more wary
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: on that ACL. Then many players will give him credit for,
- 1:26:16Speaker 1: many media members will give him credit for, and they
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: usually say, and I'm not trying to go this route,
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: but the ACL is the precursor to the Achilles. I'm
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: not saying Mahomes will be tearing his Achilles tendon this year,
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: but I will think that him coming back from that
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: ACL injury, it will affect his mind just a little bit,
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: and he will not pass thirty five hundred pass yards
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: if he's granted its training camp. And I might be
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: shooting the gun a little bit too quick here, But again,
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: if you're in a passing play and you throw a
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: pass and it hits your center, that's a problem.
- 1:27:03Speaker 2: Well. I see, I said the same thing about Mahomes
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: last year's I didn't think he would break thirty five
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: hundred passing yards, which you know obviously, you know before
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: the injury he barely broke thirty five hundred passing yards.
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: I think he finished like just under thirty six. So,
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: but I don't know. I think the league has started
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: to learn how Patrick Mahomes actually plays, and there's only
- 1:27:31Speaker 2: so much game planning and coaching that you could do
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: against playmaking and creativity, which is why where I think
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: a lot of mahomes and successes come from. But like
- 1:27:39Speaker 2: you said, with that ACL injury, I think it's gonna
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: affect him a lot mentally, a lot more than the
- 1:27:44Speaker 2: media is playing it off.
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: As I mean, Brandon, what do you, Noble, what do
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: you say about that?
- 1:27:52Speaker 4: I did it again?
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: Oh my god, I did it again again. The whole
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: thing of my host is at Acltaire and whether or
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: not he's been very recovering for it. But I've seen
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: clips where he has that good passes. But if maybe this,
- 1:28:10Speaker 3: maybe you are just overreacting. This is just great training campaign.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: But with pre season, we may have an actual answer
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: to that hot take, you know, further down the lying,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: you know, once we roll into September and such. And
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: the only thing I will say is I think you
- 1:28:24Speaker 3: might be right, but I'm pretty certainly ANSWER's gonna be
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: wrong if my host wets all seventeen games.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: And that's definitely fair, but that's gonna be our ruffling
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: the feathers. Let us know what your ruffling the feathers
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: are and if you agree or disagree with what the
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: three of us said, but we're gonna end today's show
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: and recording by talking about the most beautiful thing in
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: the world. The most beautiful thing in the world. A
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: football game will be played this week. It is the
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: Hall of Fame game in Canton, Ohio between the Arizona
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: Cardinals and the Carolina Panthers. I know that game sounds
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: like money, doesn't it.
- 1:29:16Speaker 3: That's what Jeremiah love.
- 1:29:19Speaker 2: Oh boy, yay. I I am just thankful that there
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: is football on. To quote one of my to quote
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: one of my gaming buddies, uh, he has said, yes,
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: that game is going to be a snooze, but I
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: don't give it damn because it's football.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: This is correct, that it is football. We are finally,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: we finally had a game. And I'm just gonna go
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: out on a limb and say, even though we know
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: that most people won't be tuning in for much of
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: the game, if at all of it, it's the Panthers.
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: It's the Cardinals. I mean, Carson Beck might show up
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: in the game. I really don't know. Bryce Young might
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: play a driver too, and.
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: It's gonna be Bryce Young and Jacoby Brissac for the
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: opening drives and then back ups the rest of the light.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: I mean, scouting your force the rest of the way. No,
- 1:30:26Speaker 3: you got to figure out if your guys are good
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: f's because there's this whole thing with Arizona Cardinals offensive
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: coordinator Daniel Hackett saying that James Conner's gonna be running
- 1:30:35Speaker 3: back when there's people that are like making this whole
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: debate between James Connor, Jeremiah Loved. They're number three overall,
- 1:30:42Speaker 3: pick afirebec correctly, and then new signee and former Falcon
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: Tyler als here.
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: And in all fairness, I'm still super happy for al
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: Jeer getting that money, getting a chance to be a
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: starter in this league. And I'm very curious if in
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: Arizona his streak continues, because I don't know if either
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: of you know this, but Tyler Algier has played four
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: seasons in the NFL and has never had a fumble.
- 1:31:15Speaker 3: That might change in.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: Arizona again, might but he hasn't in four years. That
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: was something about him that Atlanta fans really loved was
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: that you could always count on him.
- 1:31:29Speaker 4: To have that ball in his hands.
- 1:31:33Speaker 3: But I asked, But I'm asking this again because this
- 1:31:36Speaker 3: is the one thing about the Cardinals that confuses me.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: From Hacketts, It's like, it's also a confusing move for
- 1:31:41Speaker 3: Algier as well, because you have the money in Arizona,
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: but you're likely to be running back three because they
- 1:31:45Speaker 3: took Jeremiah Love. Like, what are we doing.
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: Looking at the looking at the death chart, looks like
- 1:31:52Speaker 2: Algiers actually the second running back in line, James Connors,
- 1:31:55Speaker 2: actually James Connor's actually third. What I've got Jeremiah Loves
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: as the tentative RB one, a'll Jeer Connor and then
- 1:32:04Speaker 2: Trey Benson.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Wow, that's surprising for me. What about you telling him?
- 1:32:13Speaker 2: I mean at the same time, and it is also
- 1:32:19Speaker 2: because Connor is not the full participant at training camp
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: either because he's been dealing with a foot injury.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: I mean, it makes sense that Connor coming back would
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: be the number three bag. But I feel like because
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: it is the first preseason game as well with the
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: Hall of Fame game, uh, that that probably explains why
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: Jeremiah Love is the number two back because they want
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: to get him featured early and often give the Cardinals
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: fans a little bit of an idea of what they're
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: getting out of this young kid.
- 1:32:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I will be Thursday on NBC.
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: I think I remember football, Yeah NBC.
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: Yep, And I have looked it up just for a
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: useless stat of the day. But it actually is a
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: useless stat because, uh, the Hall of Fame Game is
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: notable for one thing outside being the first football game
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: of the season, essentially, even though it's preseason, and that is,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: whoever gets in that game doesn't make the playoffs.
- 1:33:29Speaker 4: Usually.
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: Oh that's a new one for me.
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: Yeah, so you are cursed, Sion Cover.
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: But the Hall of Game, essentially with the Hall of
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: Fame Game, it's like Dan Housen with WWE what he
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: did with the Knicks. If you believe that that actually
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: was a legitimate thing, but when you come back from
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: twenty two and twenty nine points down in the same postseason,
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: you kind of sort of have.
- 1:34:02Speaker 4: To believe it a little bit. But you this is
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: the use of stat of the day for this Hall
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: of Fame Game.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Over the last twenty three seasons, the winner of the
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: Hall of Fame Game has failed to win a postseason
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: game in the same season. So whoever wins this game,
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: you might as well kiss your shot at the playoffs.
- 1:34:27Speaker 4: Goodbye?
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: All right? See it Carolina.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: No, I'll say that, my man Price doong, don't.
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: I mean, I'll say that about the Carolina Panthers because
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: that helps Atlanta win the division.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: Next next to this se.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: Nobody is picking the Saints to win the sound who's nobody?
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: Hello, Hello, I'm nobody.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: I mean I know you are also the same person
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: who said that Drake London was better than chrislave And I.
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: Will stand on that, thank you very much.
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: Ok.
- 1:35:10Speaker 4: Isn't that Isn't that great? Isn't that great? Guys? Yeah, But.
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Honestly, I mean, that's that's just how it is with
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: the Hall of Fame game. If you win the game,
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: you're cursed. If you lose the game, you're less cursed. Apparently,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: they're four and five in the last twenty three years
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: the loser of the Hall of Fame game.
- 1:35:33Speaker 3: So who knows four or five? What making the playoffs?
- 1:35:38Speaker 4: They've gone four and five in the playoffs just in general.
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: Oh so.
- 1:35:45Speaker 3: We're not clarification for the audience.
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: And I will say this. Last year's game was the
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: Chargers and the Detroit Lions, and yeah, the Charger has
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: made it zero to nine in the last twenty four
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: years because they made the playoffs and I think they
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: played a team in the Northeast if I remember correctly,
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: in the first round of the playoffs with Well, it's
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: supposed to be a world beat or defense and they
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: only got a field goal.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it was supposed to be the game for Justin
- 1:36:28Speaker 3: Herbert if I break out a shout, but nope, not happening.
- 1:36:32Speaker 2: Justin Herbert's got an arm, that's all he's good for.
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: Dang, that's gonna have set the fans over in my
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: area because you don't got Chargers fans in LA.
- 1:36:43Speaker 4: Wait there when Chargers fans exist in Los Angeles?
- 1:36:46Speaker 3: Yes, because the one time I went to a Ravens
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: game at so if I Stadium. They're actually a fair
- 1:36:50Speaker 3: amount of Chargers fans.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: I mean that could be fair because some people actually
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: don't know about this, haven't all and this Chargers debate
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: or talk with this. The Chargers were there before the Rams,
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: Like people don't realize that, But the Chargers were in
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: LA first, they were in LA in nineteen sixty then
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: they moved to San Diego in nineteen sixty one, and
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: they were there up until they decided, Hey, let's move
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: back to.
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: La talk about San Diego.
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: Yeah, talk about San Diego.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: But ladies and gentlemen, that is going to end episode
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: two of the Ruffling the Feathers podcast. Guys, thank you
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: so much for listening to us, Babylon, like the three
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: wonderful NFL fans and media members that we are, Brandon,
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: What do you have to say to everybody out there?
- 1:37:48Speaker 2: I just hope that this is an enjoyable listen for
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: anybody who actually has you know, got the time to
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: give us the view. And I think we've all had
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: a lot better internet connection for today. So hopefully, you know,
- 1:37:59Speaker 2: whenever we translate this podcasting, upload it and it'll actually
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: lead someone audible.
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Spectrum, Yes, yes, thank you, Thank you Spectrum, you actually
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: worked for once in your life.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: Uh Nova, what do you have to say?
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: All I have to say is hopefully we could get
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: this done, you know, as quickly as we can. You know,
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: we're trying to expect out of this processes and then hopefully,
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: if all goes well, this should be another weekly episode
- 1:38:26Speaker 3: coming in next week, and I'm sure we're gonna have
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: a lot more answers from the Hall of Fame Game
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: at least with the Cardinals and Panthers specifically, But I
- 1:38:34Speaker 3: wouldn't be surprised if more news breaks out over the weekend.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: But in comparison from the last episode, this one, I mean,
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: to the next one, I would expect the next one
- 1:38:43Speaker 3: to be shorter, just because I think there'd be less
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: news from training camp.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: In the Hall of Fame game, yeah, most likely there
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: there would be less information. But again for Brandon and
- 1:38:56Speaker 1: for super Nova, we want to thank you guys for
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: supporting us here at Ruffling the Feathers. We hope that
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: we ruffle your feathers enough that you try to ruffle
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: ours back with some of your own hot takes in
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: the NFL. But until the next time, we're flying out.
