- 0:58Speaker 2: So three things I want to cover today. One understanding
- 1:02Speaker 2: and identifying mental health in our current space because I
- 1:05Speaker 2: haven't been here for a while and a lot of
- 1:08Speaker 2: stuff has gone on, So understanding and identifying mental health
- 1:11Speaker 2: in our current space. Two remaining mindful that symptoms of
- 1:15Speaker 2: mental illness aren't uniform, okay, and then three talking about
- 1:21Speaker 2: mental health and why it's important. I mean, what's important,
- 1:23Speaker 2: why mental health is imperative for earners. Okay, So let's
- 1:27Speaker 2: start with the first one, and I guess after I finished,
- 1:30Speaker 2: we could ask questions. So if you guys have any questions,
- 1:33Speaker 2: when anything comes up, saved it, like write it down
- 1:35Speaker 2: so that once we open the floor for questions, you'll
- 1:39Speaker 2: let me know if it goes under a one, two
- 1:42Speaker 2: or three. Okay. So basically understanding mental health in our
- 1:45Speaker 2: current space. So here's here's the interactive part. Because I
- 1:49Speaker 2: like interaction, I want everybody to raise your hand. If
- 1:53Speaker 2: you lived through a pandemic before twenty twenty. I'm going
- 1:56Speaker 2: to say it again, if you lived through a pandemic
- 2:01Speaker 2: before twenty twenty, raise your hand. If your parents lived
- 2:04Speaker 2: through a pandemic before twenty twenty, raise your hand. If
- 2:06Speaker 2: your grandparents live through a pandemic before twenty twenty. So
- 2:09Speaker 2: since none of us have ever had to live through
- 2:11Speaker 2: this before, or our parents or our grandparents, it's imperative
- 2:15Speaker 2: that we understand and embrace this reality as something completely
- 2:21Speaker 2: unfamiliar to us, and seeking use all the resources available
- 2:25Speaker 2: to all of them, every single last one of them.
- 2:27Speaker 2: We need to be seeking help in any way, shape
- 2:30Speaker 2: or form that's valid and help exploring things. Whether it's yoga,
- 2:34Speaker 2: whether it's reggie, whether it's pilates, whether it's walking, whether
- 2:37Speaker 2: it's running, whether it's journaling, whether it's crocheting, I don't
- 2:40Speaker 2: care what it is. Everybody's got things that help them decompress,
- 2:44Speaker 2: feel better, and relax and process, and that's what we
- 2:48Speaker 2: should be doing. We have to do our best to
- 2:51Speaker 2: navigate all the mental challenges and stresses that are coming
- 2:55Speaker 2: because we have never had to deal with this before.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I like to remind all my clients. They're like, could
- 3:00Speaker 2: you believe that? And such did this? I can't believe
- 3:03Speaker 2: this happened. Could you believe this? And I'm like, I
- 3:05Speaker 2: absolutely can't believe it. But why is sonny? I said,
- 3:08Speaker 2: because we are having normal responses to an abnormal living situation.
- 3:12Speaker 2: I want to say that again. We are having normal
- 3:15Speaker 2: responses to an abnormal living situation. None of us have
- 3:19Speaker 2: ever lived through this before. We was fine. We was
- 3:21Speaker 2: diddy popping through the streets in twenty two of me
- 3:24Speaker 2: doing our thing. And if somebody said, hold up, forty
- 3:27Speaker 2: phone selective, sat down. Wait what happened? It's closed? We
- 3:31Speaker 2: closed you cloth, We all closed. Now we have to
- 3:35Speaker 2: sit down. We can't move till. Many of us who
- 3:38Speaker 2: were distracted, many of us who like to link and drink,
- 3:40Speaker 2: many of us who like to party, many of us
- 3:42Speaker 2: who like to shop, many of us like to go
- 3:44Speaker 2: to the gym and exercise. We just had to sit still.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Some of us had to sit still with people we
- 3:49Speaker 2: didn't even want to sit still with. Some of us
- 3:52Speaker 2: had to sit still and be a teacher and to
- 3:54Speaker 2: our children. And we were never teachers. And even if
- 3:57Speaker 2: we were, who said that we wanted to teach our kids?
- 4:00Speaker 2: I know gazillion parents will be like, I'm off of
- 4:02Speaker 2: work today and I'm dropping this kid off to school
- 4:05Speaker 2: and I don't see anything wrong with it. So we've
- 4:07Speaker 2: had all of these things happen abruptly with no planning,
- 4:12Speaker 2: no warning, no preparation, and then on top of it,
- 4:16Speaker 2: we had to start witnessing murders, police brutality, BLM. So
- 4:20Speaker 2: now this is across the screen every day. Re exposure
- 4:25Speaker 2: to trauma, re exposure to trauma, re exposed it to trauma.
- 4:29Speaker 2: See before twenty twenty, we had a lot of exposure
- 4:32Speaker 2: to trauma ever re exposure, but some of us showed
- 4:34Speaker 2: up in the workplace acting like it didn't happen. I
- 4:36Speaker 2: was gonna staff me like this, So y'all gonna act
- 4:39Speaker 2: like Michael Brown didn't just get killed because you're just
- 4:42Speaker 2: talking about enrollment. I'm SI here thinking Trayvon Martin, right,
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm thinking about all these people. But I'm like, oh,
- 4:50Speaker 2: I think you should recommend that you open this class
- 4:52Speaker 2: or there's under a rollment in this section. Now I
- 4:56Speaker 2: don't nobody has to do that because now everybody's talking
- 4:59Speaker 2: about so on the news. It's got all the stores
- 5:02Speaker 2: put in yelling signs in the window. No, none of
- 5:06Speaker 2: us lived with this before. So when people tell me,
- 5:08Speaker 2: for the most part, that they're good, I usually am
- 5:12Speaker 2: a little cautious about that because I don't accept as
- 5:16Speaker 2: we go into this third year, that they haven't had
- 5:19Speaker 2: any adjustment issues. I know people are thriving, which is great,
- 5:23Speaker 2: but those are the people who have actively made a
- 5:26Speaker 2: decision to transform how they lived so that they could adjust,
- 5:30Speaker 2: so that they could thrive. And usually you can tell
- 5:33Speaker 2: that they're doing that through their behaviors. But so many
- 5:36Speaker 2: of us have had to adjust to unexpected losses, death loss,
- 5:41Speaker 2: income laws, finance laws, housing laws, right, loss of security.
- 5:46Speaker 2: All of this plays with our minds. Right, So when
- 5:49Speaker 2: I say understand.
- 5:52Speaker 3: This episode is brought to you by P and C Bank.

- 7:42Speaker 4: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 7:46Speaker 4: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 7:50Speaker 4: accused of murdering a Texas man of Venezuelan charged with
- 7:54Speaker 4: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 7:58Speaker 4: some of the heinous criminals caught because of President Donald J.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Trump's leadership. I'm Christy Noman, the United States Secretary of
- 8:06Speaker 4: Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border crossings are
- 8:11Speaker 4: at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over one hundred
- 8:15Speaker 4: thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you are here illegally,
- 8:19Speaker 4: your next you will be fine nearly one thousand dollars
- 8:22Speaker 4: a day, imprisoned and deported, you will never return. But
- 8:27Speaker 4: if you register using our CBP home app and leave now,
- 8:31Speaker 4: you could be allowed to return legally. Do what's right.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Leave now. Under President Trump, America's laws, border and families
- 8:39Speaker 4: will be protected. Sponsored by the United States Department of
- 8:42Speaker 4: Homeland Security.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Tending and identifying mental health in our current space, that
- 8:46Speaker 2: is exactly what I need. Prior to twenty twenty, some
- 8:50Speaker 2: of us couldn't really recall the first time we heard
- 8:55Speaker 2: certain words like anxiety depression PTSD and really understood what
- 9:02Speaker 2: it is what it was. Now you can say these
- 9:04Speaker 2: words and many of us know exactly what it because
- 9:06Speaker 2: now we have the language. But prior to twenty twenty,
- 9:09Speaker 2: not everyone had the language. You know, some of us
- 9:11Speaker 2: are not having and understanding the need to have self
- 9:16Speaker 2: compassion for ourselves. A lot of us don't have self
- 9:20Speaker 2: compassion and because sometimes our employers don't have compassion. We
- 9:26Speaker 2: also don't have compassion for ourselves, and it's really important
- 9:29Speaker 2: for us to recognize that we have to have compassion
- 9:32Speaker 2: for ourselves and hold space for ourselves.
- 9:35Speaker 5: I will say not to interject, but somethings a lot.
- 9:38Speaker 5: I don't know if you want to talk or ask
- 9:41Speaker 5: come on, you know. So yeah, I was gonna say
- 9:45Speaker 5: a lot of times out here, ernest feel like fomo,
- 9:48Speaker 5: you know. And I feel like sometimes when you say
- 9:50Speaker 5: self compassion, that immediately came to my mind because people
- 9:53Speaker 5: are like, oh, I feel like I'm behind, or I
- 9:55Speaker 5: missed the class, or I'm even with the trading. Sometimes
- 9:58Speaker 5: they feel a little lost. But you're where you are
- 10:00Speaker 5: and you have to respect your journey, you know what
- 10:02Speaker 5: I mean, and learn as you go. So I think like,
- 10:05Speaker 5: have self compassion even when you're reaching your goals, when
- 10:08Speaker 5: you're looking around at other people that said, oh I
- 10:09Speaker 5: made this amount of the market or whatever. If you
- 10:12Speaker 5: made fifty bucks today, that's great, or if you paypor
- 10:14Speaker 5: trade it today, you checked off another goal on your list,
- 10:17Speaker 5: that's great. And we all have our different like things
- 10:20Speaker 5: were good at Like I just got off a call
- 10:21Speaker 5: with an earner and she's into real estate and she's like, oh,
- 10:24Speaker 5: my portfolio, I need to do this and that. I'm like, well,
- 10:27Speaker 5: you're killing it in real estate. So sometimes it's okay
- 10:30Speaker 5: to make your own lane or be comfortable where you are.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I mean, obviously learn and grow and do different things,
- 10:36Speaker 5: but be compassionate in you with yourself. You're great, and
- 10:39Speaker 5: you're great at being you.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I would say, exactly, and I think that's a perfect
- 10:44Speaker 2: way to describe it. You're great at being you. Everyone's
- 10:48Speaker 2: journey is different, and I say all the time, you
- 10:50Speaker 2: can't pour from an empty cup. So if you try
- 10:53Speaker 2: to take on something that you aren't fully prepared to,
- 10:57Speaker 2: you don't have the capacity to do it, may not
- 11:00Speaker 2: be as successful at it if you were to wait
- 11:04Speaker 2: until you were fully able to execute with a good foundation.
- 11:10Speaker 2: That's by step. I don't care what it is. Maybe
- 11:14Speaker 2: you got through one module one training. Maybe you now
- 11:19Speaker 2: by this day you understand how to do this right,
- 11:22Speaker 2: and then that's it. But I think ultimately it's up
- 11:24Speaker 2: to us to decide how we want to interpret that right.
- 11:29Speaker 2: We couldn't we wouldn't be able to have a fear
- 11:32Speaker 2: of missing out unless we actually put that thought in
- 11:35Speaker 2: our head and allowed it to stay there. Right, So
- 11:38Speaker 2: how do I know what I'm missing out unless I'm
- 11:40Speaker 2: focusing on it. Wow, I'm not focusing on that. I
- 11:44Speaker 2: don't know what you're supposed to do. All I know
- 11:46Speaker 2: is I'm supposed to do this, this, this, and stay
- 11:48Speaker 2: black and die, which is what my grandmother said. Right.
- 11:52Speaker 2: I just added a few more things to the list,
- 11:53Speaker 2: but ultimately that's what she's said. I'm not supposed to
- 11:56Speaker 2: do anything but stay back and die. I'm supposed to
- 11:58Speaker 2: do this, not look so, I'm like when it comes
- 12:02Speaker 2: to fomo, you can't pour from an empty cup. I
- 12:06Speaker 2: don't do things when I feel a certain way. I
- 12:09Speaker 2: don't leave my house. If I feel a certain way,
- 12:11Speaker 2: I will not drive. I'm not going behind the wheelside.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I don't feel a certain way. Why would I put
- 12:16Speaker 2: myself out respect? Why would I put other people at respect?
- 12:19Speaker 5: That?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Right? Sometimes the universe say sat out, sonny, Like I
- 12:23Speaker 2: hear it, like you're trying to do something. Oh you're
- 12:26Speaker 2: doing a mold skirl. You're trying to get outside. We outside,
- 12:29Speaker 2: we outside? No, you're not. You're inside today, Man, have
- 12:32Speaker 2: a seat, read a book. I remember I was so
- 12:36Speaker 2: anxious to get to this party. One day. Oh, I
- 12:38Speaker 2: gotta get off work. I get on four at eight o'clock.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I'm gonna get dressed and then I'm gonna go and
- 12:42Speaker 2: I'm gonna go to the party because it's after work
- 12:45Speaker 2: on Wednesdays. Friend text me where you at, Sunny. I said, Oh,
- 12:47Speaker 2: I'm on my way, about to get to my car.
- 12:49Speaker 2: She said, don't leave your house, girl. I said, what happened?
- 12:52Speaker 2: She said, Girl, they started shooting at the damn place.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 12:56Speaker 2: See, you were supposed to stay home, Sonny. You're supposed
- 12:59Speaker 2: to finish your work. Go take your bath. You spare
- 13:02Speaker 2: it with your bath, decompress, drink some water and sit down.
- 13:06Speaker 2: You want to go outside, sit down. Sometimes it's okay, right,
- 13:11Speaker 2: it's okay to not be in the mix. Right. You
- 13:14Speaker 2: don't want to be mixy. Arnest can't be mixy. They
- 13:18Speaker 2: don't go together, right because people who are earners value
- 13:22Speaker 2: their time. People who are earnest understand that time means money.
- 13:25Speaker 2: So we don't want to spend our time in a wasteful,
- 13:30Speaker 2: whimsical way. We want to be more calculated about how
- 13:33Speaker 2: we spend our time.
- 13:35Speaker 4: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 13:39Speaker 4: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
