- 0:00Hello there, control your insolence and concentrate.
- 0:04It's time for Most Things Kenobi.
- 0:21Hi everyone, welcome to another episode of Most Things Kenobi, a
- 0:24podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and all things Star Wars.
- 0:27I'm your host, Lauren. And I'm your host, Leanne.
- 0:31This week we are doing the final installment of the Geonosis,
- 0:34Geonosis Arc, Geonosian Arc, whatever, can't say it.
- 0:38But before we do that, we have a little bit of housekeeping to
- 0:41do. Yes, we have launched our new
- 0:44Patreon so and it's very exciting.
- 0:48We are excited. We've had a lot of fun and we're
- 0:51going to have a lot of fun with the stuff we're recording on
- 0:55camera stuff and the bingo cards that we're making and all kinds
- 0:59of stuff. The bingo cards are they're so
- 1:02cute. I sent our first one 'cause our
- 1:04first one was being like a fan of Obi Wan Kenobi.
- 1:07I sent it to James Arnold Taylor.
- 1:10Did he ever write back? He did, he wrote back.
- 1:12He didn't fill it out, but he said I got multiple bingos.
- 1:15OK, that's nice. Well, obviously.
- 1:18Yeah. Well, we adore him.
- 1:22I wanted to do a free space just for him, like does the intros
- 1:26for most things. Kenobi, there you go.
- 1:30Yeah, my mother was very offended you didn't have a free
- 1:32space for her. I'm sorry there wasn't room.
- 1:37I know I get trying. It's only because she only had
- 1:40one or two other squares filled out.
- 1:42But she, I mean, she did pretty well for being a casual, a very
- 1:47casual Star Wars observer, so. What it's not a competition,
- 1:52it's just for fun. It's like literally just
- 1:54bragging rights that you can share on your social media.
- 1:58And we have we actually have a chat room on our Patreon where
- 2:01you can share your completed. Yes.
- 2:05Games, I guess it's it's cute. We have some fun stuff going on
- 2:10and I I'm really enjoying it so far and part of our new offering
- 2:14is that we're going to do shout outs.
- 2:15So we would like to do a special shout out for one of our patrons
- 2:18right now. Very close to our hearts.
- 2:21A dear friend as well as a patriot, I would say.
- 2:24Friend first now, don't you think?
- 2:26Yes, yeah. And he's been with us from the
- 2:29beginning, the very beginning. I would honor him just for that,
- 2:33but he's also cool as shit. Kevin.
- 2:40Kevin, we adore you, Kevin. We do, You are amazing.
- 2:47And he knows so much about rebels.
- 2:49He does, and not only that, but he always manages to crack me
- 2:53up. Doesn't matter, you know what I
- 2:55mean? The subtle humor.
- 2:57I just. I always enjoy seeing him on our
- 3:00Zoom calls, our Hangouts, you know, seeing his chats,
- 3:03etcetera. He's on point.
- 3:05Yeah, with with the Star Wars world.
- 3:07He is, he is, and he's a delightful human being with a
- 3:11good heart. So we just feel so lucky to know
- 3:14you, Kevin. So thank you for being a patron.
- 3:16Thank you for being a friend. We love you very much.
- 3:19We do. On with the gross stuff now.
- 3:24Let's talk about Kevin some more now.
- 3:26Yeah, I know. I'd rather I would rather
- 3:29because this worm rain invaders is fucking gross.
- 3:34It is way grosser than I remembered.
- 3:36Me, yeah, yeah. So I re watched the episode and
- 3:39I am not OK with half of what went on in that episode.
- 3:45Now, I've seen it before, we've all seen it before, but when you
- 3:48haven't seen it in a while, it gives me the heebie jeebies.
- 3:53That is my hell. It's bad.
- 3:56First of all, squiggly wiggly things are an issue in and of
- 4:01itself. And then?
- 4:02True, true. You know, the whole thing with
- 4:04Luminara and the Queen it, you know, in the previous episode
- 4:08and it goes up the nose or in the mouth or, you know, the
- 4:11whole thing And yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:13But there's so much of that happening in this episode.
- 4:17It's like hard to I can't. It gives me the creepy crawlies.
- 4:20It's so gross every scenario while one of them is sound
- 4:25asleep and not knowing better and then later they're like
- 4:28holding people down and forcing them to be submitted to it.
- 4:32That's the one I had the most problem with because I I don't
- 4:37like that. At all.
- 4:38Does it occur? Is it just me, but when you
- 4:41watch this, these scenes of these brain invaders, do you get
- 4:45like a weird tingle in the inner ear?
- 4:50It's kind of more in my stomach. I feel like, like I want to run
- 4:56into the hills and never come back.
- 5:00It scares me so much. I don't.
- 5:02I can't even. I have a terrible urge to itch
- 5:05the deep innards of my ears. Even though they don't go in the
- 5:11year. But I don't know why it happens.
- 5:14I guess it's just me. That's really funny, I know.
- 5:17I mean, it's a very. It's very.
- 5:21Is primeval the word I'm looking for?
- 5:23They're going in their brains and making them talk like the
- 5:26Gian Oceans and they're which is kind of brilliant if you think
- 5:31about it. It's really cool if you can get
- 5:34past how gross it is. Right, right.
- 5:37It's actually a really cool idea and they I think they
- 5:41accomplished it very well on the show.
- 5:44It was effective, yes, 100% effective.
- 5:47Exactly. And the added element of
- 5:50embarrass, OK, to be that young and have to deal with it
- 5:54normally under normal circumstances, maybe not Jedi
- 5:57because they're not normal under normal circumstances, but I
- 6:02think younger adults, younger kids, tweens are more squeamish,
- 6:08you know, generally speaking, not all of them, but when I was
- 6:11a kid, or at least younger, I was squeamish.
- 6:15Obviously I haven't grown away from that, but these two are
- 6:21just kicking ass with it. I mean, of course, right?
- 6:24I think I'm more squeamish now. Is that maybe because you were
- 6:29saying like tweens? Maybe by then I was pretty
- 6:32squeamish when I was a kid. I wasn't afraid of anything.
- 6:35Oh, I was. Maybe I'm just a wuss.
- 6:38It's entirely possible I was squeamish.
- 6:43I didn't like, like, get that away from me.
- 6:45EW, EW, get it away. I have a funny story of when I
- 6:50became squeamish. You remember the moment that you
- 6:54became I got to hear it. When I was a kid, I wasn't
- 7:00afraid of stuff. We would go and like pull up the
- 7:03downspouts and like look for salamanders or whatever.
- 7:07When I was a little kid I would jump in window wells.
- 7:10I can't believe I would do that. There's no way in hell I would
- 7:13do that now. Just the spiders alone never
- 7:16even crossed my mind. Oh my God, no.
- 7:19The neighbor kid was digging under a downspout.
- 7:23He found a snake. Oh my God.
- 7:25Grabbed it and was freaked out by it and threw it and it flew
- 7:30through the air and hit me right in the forehead.
- 7:32Oh. My God, what did you do?
- 7:39To this day I have goosebumps. To this day I remember what it
- 7:42looked like like flying through the air.
- 7:44I bet it was a Garter snake. It was just a harmless snake.
- 7:48But to this day I've been like, what if I had a hood and it fell
- 7:52in there? Like what?
- 7:53Brain invaders so. Terrifying.
- 7:56And after that I was scared of everything can.
- 7:58You OK? Let's take a moment and just
- 8:00think about it from the snake's perspective.
- 8:03He's just trying to fucking sleep.
- 8:06Some kid grabs him, removes him from his home with force and
- 8:09then flings him through the air and he hits another human and
- 8:13she freaks out and his whole day is just tossed up and upturned
- 8:17and the poor snake. That snake is probably somewhere
- 8:21right now saying do you remember that time I had a girl in the?
- 8:25He's got chills. I love this story so much, thank
- 8:33you for sharing. You're welcome.
- 8:36It's a total side tangent. But yeah, that's why like
- 8:38slithery things just scare the shit out of me now.
- 8:41Like I feel weak and like I'm going to pass out from telling
- 8:45that story. I could not have done what
- 8:47Ahsoka embarrassed did in this episode.
- 8:49I would have had a complete panic attack.
- 8:52And they quarantined the ship. They they put it on lockdown so
- 8:56that it wouldn't infect the what medical medical base or wherever
- 9:00they were going. What was it?
- 9:01Yeah, and. That was smart, but that means
- 9:04they're locking themselves in there with it.
- 9:07That's like what happens. Well, it doesn't happen.
- 9:10At least us. Not to Ahsoka, but.
- 9:12Well, I have, I have a questions about this though.
- 9:15Yeah, first of all, why are the worms still looking for a host?
- 9:19Does this mean that the Queen is still alive?
- 9:22Or that they just have this parasitic instinct for self
- 9:26preservation that they just latch on to the next life form?
- 9:29I think it's the second, but I don't know.
- 9:32They're in those things, those little balls.
- 9:36That's the that's one thing. I thought I was like, she has
- 9:40larva and then it becomes eggs that become worms.
- 9:44I was like, I don't know if this is how bugs work but whatever.
- 9:47Is this just the transportation mode for off worlding for the
- 9:51for the brain eaters brain good? Question.
- 9:57That escalated. I meant brain invaders.
- 10:01Close enough, close enough. What are they doing in there?
- 10:05I don't remember if they showed any eggs in the last episode, so
- 10:08you're good point. You know what Clone Wars likes
- 10:11to do? Softly roll balls of things.
- 10:15It's true. You know, they have the bombs,
- 10:17they have the detonators, they have the silencers, they have
- 10:20the they get rid of the electrocution force fields and
- 10:24the. Droid Popper.
- 10:25Yeah, yeah, yeah. Droid poppers and then they also
- 10:29have small rolly things with brain.
- 10:32Parasites. Parasites in them, Yeah.
- 10:35I mean it works if it when it works it works.
- 10:37I hate that we're happy to talk about this.
- 10:39Even saying these words is gross.
- 10:42Well, did you notice when I think it's Ahsoka who slices
- 10:45them in half? They're like like little nut
- 10:47pods. So are the things just wrapped
- 10:50up in there and incubating like laying in wait?
- 10:54I just, it's one of those things, I can't, I just can't
- 10:57the whole thing. I know, I know.
- 10:59I had the same thought. When you see her cut it in half,
- 11:02I was kind of like, so what's going on in there?
- 11:05Yeah. I also think it's funny that I
- 11:08mean funny, Funny in a very dark way that like when she cuts the
- 11:12worms in half that they make noises.
- 11:15Did you notice it was a wet noise?
- 11:17That makes it even worse. OK, I watched this with
- 11:20subtitles on and they described the noise of the worms as where
- 11:26is it? Oh no, what?
- 11:28I'm dying to know. They described it as quote moist
- 11:32Slytherin. See.
- 11:34No, thank you. I was so Oh my God, that's.
- 11:44So gross it's disgusting. I did notice it sounded wet.
- 11:50I did, yeah. It's I'm getting such like
- 11:54constant goosebumps talking about this.
- 11:56It's for, it's a good effect, you know it's it's for the
- 11:59effect and it works. It's a really well done episode.
- 12:02It definitely. I mean, the fact that we're so
- 12:05grossed out by it means that they did a great job.
- 12:07I mean, there's probably people out there who are completely
- 12:10unaffected by this because a, it's fake, but.
- 12:12Yes, yeah, OK. Kudos to.
- 12:14Them exactly, yes. We are not in that camp.
- 12:19You know what, what bothered me, I want to ask you about this.
- 12:23I didn't really recognize this before until rewatching it and
- 12:28not having seen it for a while is I, I forget the clones name
- 12:32who comes at Ahsoka and Barris and one of them stabs him in the
- 12:37chest. You know, just whatever.
- 12:40And Ahsoka is like, he was my friend.
- 12:42He would have never done that. And it's like he just died and
- 12:45you're not even mourning the loss of a friend.
- 12:48Yes. They just moved.
- 12:49I had the same. You did.
- 12:51I know I did. I did.
- 12:54Because they keep trying to disable, like knock them
- 12:58unconscious and not harm them. Really.
- 13:00Yeah, but that guy, I think his name is Trap, I want to say.
- 13:04Yeah, I couldn't remember. Barris tried, but it was she
- 13:08just decided that was the best option was to kill him.
- 13:12And I get it I guess. But the thing about that too, so
- 13:16they have the ability to appear normal even when they're
- 13:20infected as like, what a self preservation thing because so
- 13:24many of them walking around with their voices changed and their
- 13:27posture different. And these two clones came in and
- 13:31were able to trick Ahsoka embarrassed.
- 13:34I mean, that adds a whole level to what this parasite is doing.
- 13:38And one of the big questions I had is why are they doing it?
- 13:43Yes, correct. I don't know.
- 13:47Why take over the ship? Why?
- 13:49They had a plan. Who's controlling them now?
- 13:52There's no Hive Queen to control them, supposedly.
- 13:56Unless there is. Is there more than one queen of
- 13:59the of the species? Wouldn't that be creepy and
- 14:03interesting? Maybe there's a Princess
- 14:06somewhere. Oh God, what's her name?
- 14:10Clara. Clara the Great.
- 14:14Yeah, that's what I was trying to think of.
- 14:16Something very pedestrian and yet something with a little
- 14:19flair. God, I don't know.
- 14:23They never really explain a motivation, it's just creepy.
- 14:26Well, it's alien. Maybe you're not really supposed
- 14:29to know because it's an alien species and they don't quite.
- 14:32That's why everybody, Fisto included, wants to study this
- 14:36shit but they don't have a 5 minutes to themselves to do it
- 14:39between Obi Wan and the rest of them.
- 14:41They just they just can't get their hands on one without it
- 14:45infecting people. So better left dead.
- 14:48Is the whole point of a parasite just to exist and propagate I I
- 14:53suppose? Think of what is it War of the
- 14:55Worlds that technical parasite if you will, killed itself
- 15:00because it of bacteria on on planet Earth Spoiler but you
- 15:05know but like it's not advanced enough to know.
- 15:08Perhaps it only knows survival mode and then it doesn't know
- 15:12what what could kill it if it interacts with an outside
- 15:16species. That's an interesting point.
- 15:19I like that, very interesting. I always think of War of the
- 15:23Worlds when it comes to invaders of a certain kind, because what
- 15:27they don't know, they don't know.
- 15:28So in this case, with infecting these clones and in human
- 15:32entities, you know, there's a whole host of problems named
- 15:37Ahsoka because she was out to kill you, little tiny Ahsoka.
- 15:46In in this there's some interesting dialogue with Ahsoka
- 15:49and of course like it ties into Anakin, which we haven't.
- 15:51Even Oh, I'm, I'm savoring that moment.
- 15:54I'm I'm I'm want to get to it slowly.
- 15:59That was creepy. Well.
- 16:04A little bit. It's fine, fine.
- 16:07There's that moment where you see Ahsoka embarrassed, trying
- 16:10to sleep, which I thought was funny because we never see Jedi
- 16:13sleeping. They never seem to be able to
- 16:15sleep, Correct. And she's tossing and turning
- 16:17and Baris is like, like, you should try to rest.
- 16:21And Ahsoka says she can't. So they go to the commissary and
- 16:24they're eating. And she says Ahsoka says that as
- 16:27a Jedi, I'm not sure I know how to do that.
- 16:29Meaning rest and enjoy peace, that is.
- 16:33The curious line and a very important one that I don't think
- 16:37we hear uttered by anybody else. Yeah.
- 16:41I was just like, what is this doing in this episode?
- 16:45Well, when you're bullshitting at the commissary table, like,
- 16:49wait, commissary, is that it? Yeah.
- 16:51Yeah, OK. I guess you get into casual
- 16:55conversations about the workplace.
- 16:58Maybe. Maybe Ahsoka unintentionally
- 17:03planted the seed of doubt with embarrass his mind in that
- 17:06moment about the Jedi Order. You are reading my.
- 17:09Mind. Really.
- 17:11But yes. Because this goes into this
- 17:12whole conversation, and it's so ironic because what it is doing
- 17:16is it's foreshadowing what Barris ends up doing.
- 17:19Yeah. Ahsoka has this whole
- 17:21conversation of what's the difference between being a
- 17:23peacekeeper and a warrior? Like, is there a difference?
- 17:27She doesn't seem to have answers to that.
- 17:29And Barris says, what does your master tell you?
- 17:31I have it all written out here. OK.
- 17:34Ahsoka says, Anakin, Oh, you might find some of his thoughts
- 17:37on the future a bit radical. And Barris says, really?
- 17:41Why? Ahsoka replies.
- 17:43Let's just say my master will always do what needs to be done.
- 17:46I'm not even sure how peacetime will agree with him.
- 17:50She was. Very astute at a very young age.
- 17:53What? Exactly is she talking about
- 17:55though? Like what is so radical about
- 17:59his ideas? I mean, obviously if you've seen
- 18:02Attack the Clones, you know his views on democracy well, I, I
- 18:08think. It's because he he is prone to
- 18:12slashing first and ask questions after there's a moment in some
- 18:16episode or maybe it's multiple episodes.
- 18:18And they like kind of drive it home in that regard where Anakin
- 18:21says like, why can't we just go in and take care of this?
- 18:24And Obi Wan's always like, well, there's a little bit of
- 18:26diplomacy that needs to be taken care of first.
- 18:29You can't just go in guns blazing, so to speak.
- 18:32And Anakin just kind of wants to.
- 18:35And that's why he gets, that's why he gets with Tarkin.
- 18:38He kind of jives a little bit with Tarkin, You know, he it,
- 18:42Anakin doesn't like to wait. He I think.
- 18:46He really believes that the end justifies the means very much.
- 18:51And, and Obi Wan as his master is more about exploring what we
- 18:56can do and how, what kind of what kind of end we can promote
- 19:01through different means. It's a much slower, more
- 19:05patient, more, I don't know if it's empathetic to the subject
- 19:09that they're dealing with that you know, where you're just kind
- 19:11of taking in all sides and all parties and all outcomes.
- 19:14And Anakin just is like AE plus B = C and we just need to go in
- 19:18and do it I feel. Like Obi Wan is willing to use
- 19:22force though? Like I know.
- 19:23Oh, I'm not. Saying he isn't, but I was gonna
- 19:26say. Everyone thinks he's a cinnamon
- 19:27bun. No, not everybody, but there is
- 19:29a camp of people who think of him as the cinnamon bun, which
- 19:32we don't, but but he's. Willing to take the extra minute
- 19:36to think something through and. A lot of times he tries to give
- 19:43even though he knows what he's there to do.
- 19:45Like the queen is a great example.
- 19:47Like, he's there to, you know, take her power, but he tries to
- 19:51do it in a way that gives them the chance for dignity at least.
- 19:56And a lot of. Times that's still insulting
- 20:00enough that people won't take the opportunity.
- 20:02So then he uses force, but Anakin doesn't really give that
- 20:06opportunity for people to preserve their dignity, as Pagal
- 20:11knows first hand. Before we get to this, I find it
- 20:15ironic because Anakin, I think it's in season 1 when they're at
- 20:18the the the moon of Pantora. Is it the Pantorum moon or?
- 20:24Oh yeah, remember the moon? And the white creatures, he's
- 20:27the one that takes more time to get to understand what they're
- 20:30saying. And, and it's almost like he he
- 20:33gets less patient the older he gets, which is not how normal
- 20:38people work. You're supposed to gain wisdom
- 20:42and become more patient and understanding.
- 20:44Supposed to keyword but it's almost like he thinks it's a
- 20:47waste of time. Let's just go in there and take
- 20:50care of things. Exactly.
- 20:52Pointing to how he deals with Poggle when people.
- 20:55Aren't completely linear. I mean we all have days where
- 20:58we're more patient than other days.
- 21:00Totally. Yep.
- 21:01But he. Does seem to I I really do feel
- 21:05like the patience the Anakin shows is probably only because
- 21:09of Obi Wan. Yeah, and.
- 21:11And Ahsoka, he's patient with her.
- 21:13I mean, he, he gets like short with her, but it's he's more
- 21:17patient to see her succeed than not.
- 21:21Yeah. And.
- 21:21There's actually that really, I really love the exchange in this
- 21:24episode where Anakin is saying, you know, she would have checked
- 21:27in and Obi Wan's like the way you check in, like I don't think
- 21:30you realize how alike you are. And Anakin's like, good point.
- 21:37Classic. Do as I say, not as I do.
- 21:39This conversation between Ahsoka and Bears is so interesting
- 21:43because it's about Anakin and it ties into the very end of the
- 21:48episode where Ahsoka is kind of doubting herself because.
- 21:52Yeah, I know she. She chooses to save her friend,
- 21:56which she then this did not click for me very quickly.
- 22:01I had to like the cookie cutter or the cookie cutter.
- 22:04The fortune cookie at the beginning is attachment is not
- 22:07compassion, which. Is.
- 22:10A very odd but interesting sentiment, and Ahsoka is worried
- 22:17at the end that because she chose to save Barris, she chose
- 22:21attachment over the greater good.
- 22:25Well, Barris did tell her you'll do what needs to be done right.
- 22:29If something were to happen to Barris, which it does.
- 22:33And I think she went back on that.
- 22:34What she said, yes, but she didn't probably feel it in her
- 22:37heart. Obviously she didn't feel it in
- 22:39her heart. So she probably felt like she
- 22:41lied to Barris, She lied to herself, she lied to the code.
- 22:45But what I. See, it is.
- 22:46Yeah, is more strength because she saw the alternative path
- 22:53that then saved them all. So it's like this narrow path
- 22:58that kind of Anakin has maybe taught her without meaning to
- 23:02teach her because at the end he said you did the right thing,
- 23:06but she's questioning whether it was the right thing because of
- 23:09the way his teaching is Kind of like, give her this one path
- 23:13only option and she is. So it was such a cool moment for
- 23:16the character, I thought, because it really showed that
- 23:19not only is Ahsoka possibly willing to do what needs to be
- 23:23done, she then finds the way through that that protects
- 23:28everyone. Instead of sacrificing her
- 23:31humanity and her friend's life, she chooses this other path that
- 23:36actually ends up saving all of them.
- 23:38Which is a characteristic of her that we see all the way through
- 23:42to her older self that we see in the Ahsoka series.
- 23:45I mean, it's a staple of her character's spine, if you will,
- 23:49what she stands for, which is completely juxtaposed with how
- 23:55Anakin does not self reflect on what he does, doesn't at all.
- 24:00Here's a soca younger than him, greener than him in the in the
- 24:04Jedi, if you will. And in this war, questioning,
- 24:08thinking, pondering, worrying about choices.
- 24:12And Anakin doesn't do that very much, you know it kind.
- 24:15Of struck me watching this that Anakin has already slaughtered a
- 24:19whole village of sand people at this point and we never come
- 24:23back to that in the Clone wars. They don't really bring that up
- 24:25too much. No, no, just.
- 24:27In the they talk about. Mortise me.
- 24:29Yeah, the mortise flashback. In terms.
- 24:32Of his mom, but not really in terms of yeah, in his mortise.
- 24:37Yeah, well, maybe he doesn't regret it.
- 24:42I was gonna say that because to him something had to be done and
- 24:50he did it. That was.
- 24:51Just vengeance though. Exactly.
- 24:53But. He doesn't.
- 24:54He doesn't. I think maybe after the fact,
- 24:56but that's that anger inside him that ends up doing that.
- 25:00It's not the thoughtful process of, OK, this is where we're at
- 25:04with this situation, we have to handle it.
- 25:05But that no, no, no, Anakin. No, Anakin wonder.
- 25:11Anika. No, Anika.
- 25:12Summed up all. All of the Star Wars prequels in
- 25:15one sentence. I wonder though, how realistic
- 25:19is that for a person to lose control like that and then be
- 25:23able to maintain control in other equally stressful and and
- 25:27upsetting situations like he does throughout the Clone Wars?
- 25:31Cause usually it's like an escalation.
- 25:33I'm not a therapist or psychologist or psychiatrist or
- 25:36whatever. I don't know for sure, but it
- 25:37feels like that kind of behavior you would escalate into it.
- 25:42And I feel like he exhibits quite a bit of self-control in
- 25:46Clone Wars after what happened in Attack of the Colts, where he
- 25:50has like totally lost all control.
- 25:54That's a good point. I don't know I I don't know.
- 25:58It's an empty. Question.
- 25:59I guess I mean I have one of those.
- 26:01Things in the Galaxy we ponder to this day, you know Well,
- 26:07let's talk about him and Poggle because let's.
- 26:09Do it, please, my God. Everything.
- 26:13About It is so enjoyable. It's so fucking.
- 26:16Good. It's so fucking good.
- 26:17Listen to me. It's so fucking good.
- 26:21It's so even. The way the way he walks down
- 26:24the hallway and just stop. Stop when I first I remember the
- 26:29day I first saw this episode ever in my life and that very
- 26:33subtle the March music just kind of woven, just kind of placed in
- 26:39there, just sprinkled in. I was dying inside.
- 26:44So it was one of those, Oh my God, what what's happening?
- 26:46What's happening? And he has his arms behind his
- 26:48back. He's walking in there and he
- 26:50does the, you know, the Jedi mind trick thing and that shit
- 26:53doesn't work. And then he's embarrassed.
- 26:56Poggle embarrasses his ass. And I will say this.
- 27:00I do not like how he backhands him.
- 27:03I think that is the more egregious act as opposed to the
- 27:07force choking and he. Says like mind trick, who needs
- 27:10a mind trick? And it's just he takes pleasure
- 27:14in this moment, he does. He does, and I love that because
- 27:18we know it's Vader only because we know it's Vader.
- 27:21I am really uncomfortable with the fact that he hits that
- 27:24boggle. Yeah, that's it's.
- 27:26So insulting, like when you slap somebody, when you backhand
- 27:30somebody. Oh my God, I'm OK with the force
- 27:34choking. Maybe because it's not like
- 27:36person on person contact, you know what I mean?
- 27:38It's like less personal. You are standing at a distance,
- 27:41you know. I mean, they do say that choking
- 27:44a person is one of the most personal ways to kill them,
- 27:47right? But they're.
- 27:47Not choking them. They're they're holding their
- 27:52hands. On Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
- 27:54Because the personal, the personal bit of that is looking
- 27:58into their face and, and like, yeah, yeah.
- 28:01They do. Zoom in on Anakin's expression,
- 28:03which is cold as ice. Yeah, and the only other person
- 28:08I think he lays hands on that way is Rush Clovis.
- 28:12Well, his two triggers, I guess we got to do that episode soon.
- 28:19I want to talk about that episode.
- 28:20That's so good. It's a.
- 28:22Good one. It's one of those, well, I guess
- 28:24there's the standalone one in Season 2 and then there's the
- 28:27couple in that, the last season I'm talking.
- 28:29About the season 2, the last ones are really uncomfortable,
- 28:32the season 2 one is just ridiculous.
- 28:35True true. Yes.
- 28:36But anyway, Poggle, I feel for the dude, I really do, I do.
- 28:40Too. You know what I really loved?
- 28:42Actually, What? Is.
- 28:44Afterwards when Anakin comes back and he's standing
- 28:47surrounded by all these Jedi masters and he has the
- 28:50information and Obi Wan is just looking back.
- 28:53Obi Wan, like he knows, Yeah, he.
- 28:56Knows he knows he's not saying shit.
- 28:58Mundy is like, how did you get this information?
- 29:01And Obi was like, I am not saying like you just yeah, Nope.
- 29:06I'm out, I'm out. I'm not saying anything.
- 29:08I wash my hands. I.
- 29:11Wasn't there. I had nothing to do with it.
- 29:13I don't know this kid. The end I raised.
- 29:17Him to be better than this. And this is the moment where Obi
- 29:22Wan goes back to his his little apartment and eats the pie
- 29:25straight from the pan over the sink.
- 29:30For those of you who know, you know perfect example.
- 29:37It's true. It's very true.
- 29:39It's good stuff. I really loved it.
- 29:41I love. That scene and it's really the
- 29:43music and the angle of like Poggle and and Anakin, like the
- 29:47way it's filmed, if you will. Like there's, yeah, you know, a
- 29:52power struggle in the way that it's reflected in their
- 29:55positions and stuff. And I don't know, I guess I love
- 29:57it. I love it.
- 29:58But the thing I wanted to ask you, this has nothing to do with
- 30:03that scene, by the way. OK, but it's in my.
- 30:06Notes Why Kit Fisto in this episode?
- 30:10Do you have any idea? Cuz Luminara and Chiati Mundi
- 30:14are already in action I. Guess.
- 30:18I mean, I guess maybe. Because he's really, he's really
- 30:22kind and compassionate, and maybe Ahsoka wouldn't need that
- 30:25after this truly, truly, deeply upsetting experience.
- 30:30That's a good point. OK, Because, you know, PLO Coon
- 30:33could have been in this position too, but he might be too close
- 30:36to Ahsoka. That's a great.
- 30:38Point, you know. The the bond they have, if you
- 30:41will, Yeah. You know, they don't really
- 30:44explore that very much except on the Citadel.
- 30:48Arcs is really the only place they kind of touch on, Yeah.
- 30:52Wonder why? What's his name?
- 30:55Pocoon. Pocoon and and Ahsoka's
- 30:57relationship. Yeah.
- 30:58I don't know why. Because he's the one who found
- 30:59her. Yeah.
- 31:00And you would think there'd be. I mean, there is clearly, you
- 31:04can see it even in the small interactions that they've had,
- 31:06that there is affection there between us, between us, between.
- 31:10Between us, OK Between them? Here we go.
- 31:16Again, thinking of ourselves as part of the story.
- 31:22I love it. I think this is the second.
- 31:24Time in this arc that we've said that in our episodes.
- 31:28I don't know why. Well, what I wanted to say about
- 31:31Kit Fisto is it did. It was not lost on me that his
- 31:37tentacles matched the worms. No.
- 31:43Oh dear. And I wondered.
- 31:44Is that why they placed him in this episode?
- 31:49Does he understand? I don't.
- 31:50I don't know what those things are called.
- 31:52It's like his hair, but it's not.
- 31:54I get it. It's Yeah.
- 31:55You know, I don't know what the he's underwater.
- 31:58He's an, he's an amphibious man because there's.
- 32:03Montrose or whatever Ahsoka has. And then there's the same, the
- 32:08same, the kind of, you know what they're called the leku, Yes, on
- 32:14the on the. Twilacs Yeah, yeah, yes.
- 32:16Oh my God, I can't believe you've literally read my mind.
- 32:18Yes, it's the. There's multiple of them, but
- 32:22ahsokas are allegedly hollow. I don't know about a twilacs.
- 32:26Does anyone out there? I don't either.
- 32:28The anatomy of these tentacles. They only have two and a kit.
- 32:35Fisto has like a whole bunch. I was just it just.
- 32:41Occurred to me. I'm like, oh, we got all kinds
- 32:43of squirmy things. We got his hair or whatever that
- 32:47is. We got the worms.
- 32:49We got I really like. Him though, I love him, he's
- 32:53always. Smiling, always smiling.
- 32:54He's good-natured. Even when dealing with a
- 32:57parasite, he's honestly he's. Just he's a vibe.
- 33:01He's a whole vibe. He really is.
- 33:04He's right up there with the whole image of Qui Gon wearing
- 33:09the under the umbrella and the sandals saying sorry I'm late, I
- 33:14didn't want to come. That's a mood.
- 33:21Quad on with the umbrella is a mood.
- 33:24It's my favorite imagery ever. Now we need Kit Fisto in like.
- 33:30Sandals. Yeah, with like.
- 33:31A with a like an iced coffee. Yes, shaking the.
- 33:35Ice, You know, people with iced coffees just swirling.
- 33:38Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, Yeah.
- 33:41Well, we kind of need to talk about the end, yeah.
- 33:44Between Baris and Ahsoka specifically, yes I think.
- 33:48What are your thoughts? It's really.
- 33:50Heavy it is. Heavy.
- 33:53Baris literally begs Ahsoka to kill her.
- 33:56They're children, yeah. Yeah, but but it's a reflection,
- 34:01I think, of Luminara's teachings, honestly.
- 34:04But do you or do you take it as like, it's so bad, this thing
- 34:09that I she just wants it to be done.
- 34:12That's how I. Took it, but I'm interested.
- 34:13Tell me what your thoughts are like.
- 34:15Why Luminara's teachings? Well, I just.
- 34:17Think it like it seems to be Barris's default is if something
- 34:22goes wrong it's over. Same with Luminara, like save
- 34:28everyone by getting rid of me, you know, and they did that in
- 34:31the under when the weapons factory, you know, they're just
- 34:35kind of ready to like hang it up every time there seems to be
- 34:39some kind of issue. So I, I just wonder if I'm not
- 34:43saying she's not a sacrificial good person, a good Jedi in the
- 34:46fact of like, you know, Take Me Out too.
- 34:51Yeah, but I. They're so.
- 34:54Eager to die as a hero that they're constantly like just
- 34:57leave me I mean, I I was if we. Didn't have the weapons factory
- 35:02episode. I would think otherwise, but
- 35:05because this is all within the span of like what, a week?
- 35:08Two weeks give or take? That's a whole lot of shit going
- 35:13on with these two kids. Seriously.
- 35:15This, this whole Geonosis mission for them has been deeply
- 35:20traumatizing. I think Geonosis.
- 35:23Is a fucking cesspit for every Jedi that ever touches ground
- 35:26there. Well, now.
- 35:27Anakin says that they think that the parasite is the reason they
- 35:31were able to retake the planet. What does that mean?
- 35:34God never go there again? No, leave that.
- 35:37Don't leave that place. But yeah, not to discount what
- 35:42you said, it's terrible that anyone is begging for that or is
- 35:47in a position of that and like, what a decision for Ahsoka to
- 35:50make. I know the whole sequence of
- 35:54bears begs her to kill her and then she starts screaming and
- 35:58grabbing her head and Ahsoka's standing there like should I
- 36:01kill her? It seems like I probably should
- 36:03kill her. This is where the fortune cookie
- 36:05comes in because her attachment to Barris the and the
- 36:10compassionate thing, I guess in the moment would be to relieve
- 36:13her of this because of her attachment.
- 36:17But it's the attachment that led to her kind of saving.
- 36:21It's it's difficult, but it's there.
- 36:23You know the fortune cookie. Says the attachment is not
- 36:27compassion, right? I I don't.
- 36:29Think it is. They can be.
- 36:32Two separate things, yeah. I don't know, it's just, it's
- 36:36bizarre. Part of me also wondered if I
- 36:40mean, Paris had a parasite in her brain and Anakin's like, oh,
- 36:45she she's going to be fine thanks to you, really, are you
- 36:48going to be fine? Makes me wonder if it had any
- 36:51impact on the fact that she fell to the dark side later.
- 36:54Oh. Oh, that's a good point.
- 36:57I never Well, oh, 'cause you. Know they are kind of aligned
- 37:04with the separatists, which is kind of like the dark side the
- 37:07the genotians, you know so maybe it had some sort of lasting
- 37:13effect There's no I'm not basing that on anything but just my own
- 37:17curiosity. No one has ever said that it's a
- 37:20ponderous. Thing I've never thought of, but
- 37:22I I can't argue against it. There's no answer.
- 37:26To that, either, I guess it's just.
- 37:29It's it's curious though. It's a curious point.
- 37:31I wonder if anyone else out there has any thoughts that
- 37:35would be, that would be something if you, I guess that's
- 37:38our question, we'll get to that. But yeah, yeah.
- 37:41I'm. Curious what the masses have to
- 37:43say That's a that's a good that's a good question to ask
- 37:46the whole. Experience could have been
- 37:48deeply traumatizing. And then, you know, as with
- 37:52everything, like Sigeria is a great example, everyone gets
- 37:57taken as a slave and tortured for we don't even know how long.
- 38:01We're not even sure how long that time period is.
- 38:04Immediately goes right back to work.
- 38:05No one has ever mentioned like, hey, do you need to talk to
- 38:08somebody? Does the Jedi Temple have a
- 38:12therapist or are they just supposed to meditate?
- 38:17I don't know. I've heard stories, and I cannot
- 38:19recall right now off the top of my head if they're fan fiction
- 38:21or if they're actual stories where they have like mind
- 38:24healers that would. Be something Oh can I get one?
- 38:30That would be so nice game. I would love one.
- 38:33Please just come and fix me and nobody.
- 38:36Was able to fix Anakin huh? Must not be, Must not be Canon.
- 38:42Yeah, he probably. Never went down that hallway.
- 38:44He's like, you know what? I'm good.
- 38:47Do you have any other final thoughts?
- 38:50I don't know. I mean like as a whole now,
- 38:53these 4 episodes, they're all so different.
- 38:56They really. Are they do cohesively run
- 38:58together though? Yeah, you know, one right after
- 39:00another. But damn, how would you?
- 39:03Rate the whole arc overall. Oh, this?
- 39:06Whole arc, I would give it an 88.58.7 out of 10.
- 39:11It's good, it's good. There's so many parts to it,
- 39:15yeah. There's so many.
- 39:16It's one of the rare. The rare arc where each of the
- 39:20characters kind of gets their own little story very much.
- 39:24Yes, a lot of times. An arc will be like for a set of
- 39:27characters and but this one kind of goes in different directions
- 39:31for each one of them. Anakin, Ahsoka and Obi Wan, they
- 39:33all kind of get their own little side quest, you know, for.
- 39:36Comparison's sake, the mortise arc is a 10 out of 10 for me,
- 39:40maybe a 9.7 OK if if it's whatever because.
- 39:44It's sad. It is.
- 39:46It's. But I'm I'm going off of like my
- 39:49initial, when I remember I first watched those episodes, I was
- 39:52absolutely stunned, blown away, Yes.
- 39:55Mortise blew my mind and honestly?
- 39:57This one now going over it again with the rewatch and remembering
- 40:02how I felt the first time seeing landing at Point Rain all the
- 40:05way to Brain Invaders. It's a pretty good arc.
- 40:09It's a solid arc. Yeah, it.
- 40:12Makes sense why it turned me into an Obi Wan obsessed freak.
- 40:18Here we are how many years later and I like deeper than ever.
- 40:22I like how you. Just said that.
- 40:23I mean, it's true. I probably watched this the
- 40:28first time in like 2016, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:33And here we. Are 10 years later crazy?
- 40:36Not quite. Nine years later and it's it has
- 40:40not gotten better. Well, I'm.
- 40:43Still deeply obsessed? How would you rate the arc in
- 40:50your way? How would you rate it?
- 40:52All of it. The whole thing.
- 40:54The whole thing like an 8 yeah, because like landing at point
- 40:58Rain and legacy of terror 10 yes, but the other two yeah,
- 41:02less so that's what I'm saying brings the whole average down a
- 41:05little bit to an 8 I would say because yeah, it's like peak Obi
- 41:10Wan and then totally disgusting worm shit that I'm not into and
- 41:15we get a. Glimpse of Vader.
- 41:16I mean, this, yeah, this arc has it all.
- 41:21You know that Skip. Yes, Stefan, from Saturday Night
- 41:24Live, if you're not familiar, look it up.
- 41:27But this arc has everything. I guess we can leave it at that,
- 41:35Stefan. See us out.
- 41:43All right, our question for you listeners, it's the one we asked
- 41:47just a little while ago. What are your thoughts on how
- 41:50this particular episode, but any of the Gian Ocean arc, how that
- 41:54might have affected Barris's choice later on when she
- 41:57actually turned to the dark side and left the Jedi Order
- 42:01violently? Framing.
- 42:05Ahsoka along the way. Considering that Ahsoka saved
- 42:07her life, that's kind of sad. Do you think the parasite had
- 42:12anything to do with it? We would love to hear your
- 42:14thoughts. Tell us either on social media.
- 42:17You can leave comments right on Patreon.

- 42:22Let us know your thoughts. In our next episode we are going
- 42:27to go back to a topic we covered in the early days of most things
- 42:31Kenobi, and that is Clone Wars, a kids show question mark.
- 42:39I think that was our second episode ever, yeah.
- 42:41So we asked the question, is Clone Wars a kid show?
- 42:44And we're going to pick two more instances where it's
- 42:48questionable and we're going to talk.
- 42:52I'm going to pick one. Lauren's going to pick one.
- 42:54We aren't going to tell each other what they are.
- 42:56And then we'll discuss the moments that we question whether
- 43:00or not this do you remember? What we picked, I picked.
- 43:04Obi Wan in Mandalore and that guy throws himself over the edge
- 43:08as yes. The death.
- 43:10What did I pick? I don't remember.
- 43:12I remember your pick, but I don't remember my own.
- 43:15Oh shit, I don't. Know OK.
- 43:17To go back Houston so I don't pick it twice.
- 43:20If you need a refresh, go back to our first season early on in
- 43:25the first season and re listen to that episode and get ready
- 43:28for our next episode where we'll cover two more very questionable
- 43:32moments in Clone. Thank you so much for joining us
