- 0:20Speaker 1: Turner Glory Podcast. It is Monday morning, August fourth. New
- 0:26Speaker 1: recording schedule for the pod six am Monday mornings Thursday mornings.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Episodes will be out shortly after we finished recording. So
- 0:35Speaker 1: with that, Dak shows up this morning with his shirt
- 0:39Speaker 1: on backwards inside out. You're on YouTube watching you can
- 0:44Speaker 1: see it there.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Just rolling a bed through the hat on, put a
- 0:47Speaker 2: shirt on. I was ready, rock and.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Roll, bright, bushy tail, baby, let's go.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Didn't even know what time we were going to took
- 0:54Speaker 2: a whild guess I was right.
- 0:57Speaker 1: That's that's your own fault. Yeah, having to justice a
- 1:00Speaker 1: little bit here because of Austin's newborn. So this will
- 1:05Speaker 1: work better for us getting the routine, Grab a cup
- 1:07Speaker 1: of coffee and enjoy listening to us here every Monday
- 1:12Speaker 1: and Thursday morning. Today's conference or not even conference, but
- 1:16Speaker 1: our schedule's preview here. So sent out a bunch of
- 1:22Speaker 1: questions for our listeners to give the percentage chance of
- 1:26Speaker 1: winning each game. So we have that in. We have
- 1:30Speaker 1: twenty eight to thirty responses here. Austin, Dak and I
- 1:34Speaker 1: did our own as well, so we just want to
- 1:39Speaker 1: jump right into it.
- 1:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't think there's really, I mean any follow
- 1:44Speaker 3: up fall Camp. I mean mac markway towards a sale again.
- 1:48Speaker 3: But I say that there's really any noteworthy news.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good thing to point out, call out.
- 1:54Speaker 1: I hope that's the last of the injuries here in
- 1:57Speaker 1: fall Camp. You know, he might have contributed to some here,
- 2:01Speaker 1: but obviously he had that injury previously.
- 2:05Speaker 2: So open practice Saturdays we were able to see new
- 2:10Speaker 2: concession prices and box for a beer and a runza.
- 2:15Speaker 3: There you go, ya, it's not cheap, but I don't box.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I think for normal just a single.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Beer and seven dollars for just a runs of Valentinos,
- 2:27Speaker 3: which I think that's what it was before. Am I wrong?
- 2:33Speaker 1: He might have raised him a buck. I want to
- 2:34Speaker 1: say they might have been six six before.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Okay, got a lot of it.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Even Husker football concessions is rising.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Nineteen dollars for a runza and the beer is outrageous.
- 2:49Speaker 3: I also thought it was funny because on the concession
- 2:51Speaker 3: stand they show it kind of like a combo that
- 2:54Speaker 3: you know, it's like, oh, you get a deal, you
- 2:56Speaker 3: get a beer and runs it together, but it's like
- 2:57Speaker 3: seven dollars and then for runs I am twelve dollars
- 3:00Speaker 3: for a beer normally, so it's really just the exact
- 3:03Speaker 3: same price, except for they tell you up front that's
- 3:05Speaker 3: got dollars.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Another shout out here too, or another stat I heard.
- 3:12Speaker 1: So the NCAA only allows a handful of open practices,
- 3:18Speaker 1: only eight of them, and before game one that's like
- 3:22Speaker 1: a standard or a thing they let us do. And
- 3:26Speaker 1: our fan day counts as one because we had an
- 3:31Speaker 1: open practice. So not sure I feel about that, but uh,
- 3:37Speaker 1: we uh don't get that many and we used one
- 3:40Speaker 1: on an open practice.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Ply the fans can't record anything there. I did not
- 3:44Speaker 2: know that at these open practices obviously, well because because
- 3:49Speaker 2: I saw some tweet some Huscar fan before I hopped
- 3:51Speaker 2: on here said some I like, hopefully someone got a
- 3:53Speaker 2: video of that, and I don't know. Some guy tweet
- 3:55Speaker 2: back like, hey, dumbass, you can't record there, So like
- 3:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:01Speaker 1: I mean, you obviously cans that deck. You know the
- 4:04Speaker 1: whole Michigan thing, are you?
- 4:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, rock makes sense?
- 4:13Speaker 4: All right?
- 4:13Speaker 1: Schedule breakdown. So we've done this in years past. We
- 4:17Speaker 1: have not gotten this many responses are asked for them,
- 4:19Speaker 1: I guess. But what we do each game, we go
- 4:23Speaker 1: through briefly talk about it. It's not an in depth review.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Give our percentage chance of winning. Then you add them
- 4:29Speaker 1: all up at the end and it gives you some
- 4:30Speaker 1: sort of win total prediction. Right now, Nebraska's win total
- 4:36Speaker 1: we are sitting at seven and a half, and the juice,
- 4:39Speaker 1: the favor is to the over right now. So for
- 4:44Speaker 1: betting odds, I guess I think it's minus one forty
- 4:47Speaker 1: minus one fifty, which means you got to put like
- 4:49Speaker 1: one hundred and forty down to win one hundred. So
- 4:51Speaker 1: it's better than fifty to fifty odds, but not enough
- 4:54Speaker 1: to like move it up to eight or eight and
- 4:56Speaker 1: a half. So I give you an idea of where
- 5:00Speaker 1: national people are at, and probably a lot of Husker
- 5:04Speaker 1: fans included in that. On on Nebraska this year, our
- 5:07Speaker 1: schedule overall, let's just say easy question mark.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Oh okay, it's sintil We thought what was it two
- 5:21Speaker 3: years ago? Like, oh boy, last year, I don't remember
- 5:25Speaker 3: what year was. We're like a eazy schedule and then
- 5:28Speaker 3: it's like, oh, Indiana's going to be nine to oh
- 5:31Speaker 3: going into the Indiana game, It's.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Like, okay, well Illinois gonna be rained.
- 5:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 5:38Speaker 1: It's okay, it's easier than last year.
- 5:41Speaker 3: Can we say that were Ohio State in Oregon? So
- 5:44Speaker 3: there's no Ohio State, So yes, because the Ohio State
- 5:47Speaker 3: is a guaranteed loss.
- 5:51Speaker 1: But we got Penn State on the road.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It's easier.
- 5:54Speaker 3: We do have Penn State on there. I don't I
- 6:01Speaker 3: think it's easier than last year, but not much.
- 6:05Speaker 2: Well, here here it is.
- 6:07Speaker 1: I pulled it up here again on YouTube. If you're
- 6:09Speaker 1: watching you can you can see the live stream that
- 6:11Speaker 1: we're going through. But for those of you that don't
- 6:13Speaker 1: know the schedule already, we open up on Thursday, August
- 6:17Speaker 1: twenty eighth in Arrowhead Stadium, Agains Cincinnati. Then we have
- 6:22Speaker 1: back to back, actually not back to back, back to
- 6:24Speaker 1: back to back to back home games Accron and Houston
- 6:28Speaker 1: Christian on the next two. Then the one that a
- 6:32Speaker 1: lot of people are talking about, Michigan at home on Saturday,
- 6:36Speaker 1: September twentieth, and then Michigan stayed at home. So starting
- 6:41Speaker 1: off the year with I guess I called Cincinnati a
- 6:45Speaker 1: home game. It's technically not, but I just gave it
- 6:47Speaker 1: a home game being an Arrowhead. Then we go on
- 6:53Speaker 1: the road to Maryland, and Minnesota the next two weeks,
- 6:57Speaker 1: Minnesota being a Friday night game, Northwestern at home, USC
- 7:04Speaker 1: at home. Then we go to Ucla our second bye
- 7:08Speaker 1: week in there, and then at Penn State and then
- 7:13Speaker 1: hosting Iowa to six.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Yet, I know there's a bye week, but that's a
- 7:19Speaker 3: tough travel schedule at at Penn State.
- 7:23Speaker 2: You know, going into last year, I don't think it's easier,
- 7:26Speaker 2: like we're I'm talking like same point as we talked
- 7:28Speaker 2: last year before the season. I think I think it's
- 7:32Speaker 2: almost tough. Yeah, it's tougher.
- 7:35Speaker 1: I disagree it's it's much easier.
- 7:38Speaker 3: I would say it's slightly easier because you don't get
- 7:40Speaker 3: Purdue Cincinnati is easier than.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Colorado should be.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Yeah, that's probably the difference because I feel like Northwestern
- 7:48Speaker 3: and Wisconsin are probably similar. Rutgers. I feel like Maryland's
- 7:53Speaker 3: better than Rutgers.
- 7:55Speaker 2: No clue. We have no clue about UCLA, really, guys.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I do think though, I mean just from a it's
- 8:06Speaker 1: not the same thing. It's it's a lot. It's a
- 8:08Speaker 1: lot easier. And I think the the strength the schedule
- 8:13Speaker 1: metrics with people that are talking, I've seen us out
- 8:15Speaker 1: there on having easier schedules, whether it be in the
- 8:19Speaker 1: Big ten or nationally top twenty five, nationally easier schedule,
- 8:24Speaker 1: whereas last year we were.
- 8:27Speaker 4: Not.
- 8:28Speaker 1: We had a we had a tougher one. So I
- 8:30Speaker 1: think it's much easier. But again, what's easy, like, well, okay,
- 8:35Speaker 1: it's the same, like what's what's easy for Nebraska? Like
- 8:38Speaker 1: we have not won a lot of games we should have,
- 8:40Speaker 1: but last year we get a little bit closer to that.
- 8:43Speaker 3: I guess.
- 8:44Speaker 1: I do think there's two gimmes on this schedule, and
- 8:48Speaker 1: I'll chock those up as wins when we get there.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But I think there's a little at least a couple
- 8:53Speaker 1: of them, and maybe we could talk about a third
- 8:56Speaker 1: as well. So I think it's easier. I think that
- 8:59Speaker 1: it's a little bit why our wind pulls a little
- 9:01Speaker 1: bit higher in addition to the year three rule narrative.
- 9:06Speaker 1: But that's my general take.
- 9:08Speaker 3: On the schedule. I would agree it's easier. I'd probably
- 9:15Speaker 3: disagree with that it's much easier.
- 9:19Speaker 2: The three Ohio State Oregon fans, DA, whould you rather?
- 9:22Speaker 2: Who would you play?
- 9:25Speaker 3: I'd rather play Penn State of those years, Yeah.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I think I would too.
- 9:28Speaker 1: I don't know, you don't but this year I think
- 9:32Speaker 1: we're top Well, I think we're talking about one that's
- 9:35Speaker 1: a guaranteed loss, so I don't really care, Like, yeah,
- 9:40Speaker 1: I'm talking about getting us to the most wins that
- 9:44Speaker 1: I think all three of those, no matter who you plays,
- 9:45Speaker 1: a guaranteed loss. I actually do think this year is
- 9:48Speaker 1: probably a little bit closer than years past. Penn State's
- 9:51Speaker 1: a dark horse Natty title contender, Ohio State's a favorite
- 9:54Speaker 1: Natty title contender. Yeah, so da I strongly disagree with
- 10:01Speaker 1: saying this year's schedule is harder. You can Did you
- 10:10Speaker 1: look at last year's.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Schedule, Yeah, it ended up being harder, which it could
- 10:17Speaker 2: be the case this year to all these you have
- 10:19Speaker 2: no idea all these teams are going to paint out
- 10:21Speaker 2: Going into last year, you thought it was super easy.
- 10:25Speaker 3: No, yes, doing it in the last year, we did
- 10:28Speaker 3: think it was super easy.
- 10:29Speaker 1: We thought it was we thought it was easier.
- 10:31Speaker 3: Yeah, we thought it was. No, we thought it was
- 10:33Speaker 3: very believable that we were going to be seven and
- 10:34Speaker 3: oh going in the week eight. Last year. I feel
- 10:38Speaker 3: I remember it's all being like, it's very it's doable,
- 10:40Speaker 3: it's very doable. This year, you get Michigan I mean,
- 10:46Speaker 3: that's that's the one, like you're facing that one before.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Then Yeah, we'll we'll we'll talk about that because I've
- 10:52Speaker 1: I've heard the very very same conversations, maybe not from
- 10:57Speaker 1: myself or us, but uh, of certain records being thrown
- 11:01Speaker 1: out there. Even saw something on National that had us
- 11:06Speaker 1: I think the eight and I don't know.
- 11:09Speaker 3: Here.
- 11:10Speaker 1: So okay, let's start going game by game and see
- 11:13Speaker 1: where we end up. I pulled up ours and I
- 11:20Speaker 1: have the stats, the totals for everybody's submissions here that
- 11:25Speaker 1: we will talk about. I have the minimum, maximum, the average,
- 11:30Speaker 1: and median for you stabs people out there. The averages
- 11:34Speaker 1: what you think of when you think of average. It
- 11:36Speaker 1: just takes everything and divides it by the total. The
- 11:39Speaker 1: median is the middle score, so it kind of takes
- 11:44Speaker 1: out if there's anything that's really high or really low,
- 11:48Speaker 1: it excludes that. And then we have Dak, Austin and
- 11:53Speaker 1: my picks here. So we'll gook through this game by game.
- 11:58Speaker 1: We'll just reveal it all at once. So Cincinnati, Uh,
- 12:05Speaker 1: Dak and myself came in sixty percent, Austin higher at
- 12:08Speaker 1: seventy six. The average came in right around sixty eight.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Percent chance of winning. The lowest we had on a
- 12:15Speaker 1: forty five percent, which that seems doom and gloom. Uh,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and then the highest eighty percent thoughts.
- 12:28Speaker 3: I mean, I expected, I'm surprised that everyone had it
- 12:30Speaker 3: that low. I know, like I mean, I feel like
- 12:37Speaker 3: three fours is a reasonable thing because I agree it's
- 12:40Speaker 3: gonna be closer to a home game than not. And
- 12:45Speaker 3: I don't really think Cincinnati's been. I mean, I don't
- 12:50Speaker 3: remember what the record was last year, but I don't
- 12:52Speaker 3: remember being super impressed. They lost coach Fickle two years ago.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Three years ago, yeah, Scott, I got hired.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Seeing rules a year year.
- 13:06Speaker 3: I mean, you look at what they did last year. Again,
- 13:08Speaker 3: every year is different, and I can't say I followed
- 13:10Speaker 3: Cincinnati's super close, but they ended last year on a
- 13:13Speaker 3: five game living streak. They beat UCF, Arizona State, Houston,
- 13:17Speaker 3: and Miami, Ohio and Town Towson, and even then their
- 13:23Speaker 3: wins were we're all pretty close, except for their first
- 13:27Speaker 3: week win and then their win against Houston, which I
- 13:33Speaker 3: can't say any of those are super impressive, but they
- 13:35Speaker 3: got They lost TCU, Kansas State, Iowa State, West Virginia,
- 13:37Speaker 3: and Colorado. So I just I don't know. I feel
- 13:42Speaker 3: it's I think three fourth teams reasonable, you know, three
- 13:45Speaker 3: seventy six. Not pessimistic, but not optimistic.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Talent, wife, for sure, you shouldn't win this game just
- 13:58Speaker 2: based on talent. But as we saw many years, Nebraska
- 14:03Speaker 2: really likes to drop these kind of games.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Like line has got down and opened at minus seven
- 14:12Speaker 3: six and a half.
- 14:13Speaker 2: So people are betting sin set. Like you said, it's
- 14:18Speaker 2: gonna be. It's gonna be like at least eighty twenty
- 14:22Speaker 2: Husker fans there. I don't think Cintonia's gonna be traveling.
- 14:24Speaker 2: They're not gonna be many fans with them. They're they've
- 14:31Speaker 2: been down. I think it made a Bowl game since
- 14:34Speaker 2: Fickle's been there, or since Fickle.
- 14:35Speaker 3: Left, I don't think so.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, they haven't been down or they have been. They
- 14:43Speaker 2: have been good in years.
- 14:44Speaker 1: I don't.
- 14:48Speaker 4: Uh.
- 14:50Speaker 1: I added in a third or fourth person's pick here
- 14:53Speaker 1: because he's he's actually did the implied odds, So take
- 14:56Speaker 1: the spread to calculate the implied odds. So the imply
- 15:00Speaker 1: to odds right now, as they said, gives us a
- 15:03Speaker 1: sixty four percent chance of winning based on the spread.
- 15:07Speaker 1: My big thing on this game is just the first
- 15:11Speaker 1: game narrative that we've had for years, regardless of who
- 15:15Speaker 1: were playing it, just it. It hasn't been great, and
- 15:20Speaker 1: and all the pressure and the build up for these
- 15:23Speaker 1: first games, we've just struggled in them in recent years,
- 15:28Speaker 1: including the rules first game against Minnesota. I just think
- 15:35Speaker 1: that to me gives me some hesitation.
- 15:37Speaker 3: I do agree.
- 15:38Speaker 1: I don't know, like you guys set out great Cincinnatis
- 15:41Speaker 1: have not heard great things about them, but I do
- 15:44Speaker 1: think that we have not been great in first games either.
- 15:47Speaker 1: So that's why I'm at sixty percent. And yeah, I
- 15:52Speaker 1: mean it is the averages came in higher than the
- 15:55Speaker 1: implied odds, and then it's closer to where Austin's at too,
- 15:59Speaker 1: so Cincinnati there, Houston Christian and South Alabama. I'm putting
- 16:04Speaker 1: these two together should be a slave dunks. Max's one
- 16:10Speaker 1: hundred percent. Someone had eighty percent for South Alabama at
- 16:15Speaker 1: seems wild to me, But Houston Christian eighty percent also
- 16:18Speaker 1: seems wild. But anyways, the average came isn't you know,
- 16:21Speaker 1: around ninety five, and then Easton Christian even higher than that.
- 16:26Speaker 3: If Matt rule lodes to Houston Christian, he's done.
- 16:30Speaker 1: After the year, I said, I I mean a lot
- 16:33Speaker 1: of people had ninety nine percent or one hundred percent,
- 16:37Speaker 1: and I know, I guess rounding you can't really truly
- 16:40Speaker 1: have one hundred percent in the game like this. But
- 16:42Speaker 1: I'm like, what is what is the one percent that
- 16:44Speaker 1: we lose this game? Like? How does that even? Like?
- 16:48Speaker 1: What what even does that look?
- 16:50Speaker 4: Like?
- 16:51Speaker 3: Dylan Reyllod tears as Aco.
- 16:53Speaker 2: You were telling me in your Dead series that don't
- 16:56Speaker 2: beat Eastern Christian I do.
- 16:59Speaker 1: I think Christian just became like the Vision war like
- 17:02Speaker 1: or like their f CS, but just became f CS
- 17:06Speaker 1: not too long ago. I think they're the quality of
- 17:09Speaker 1: an n ai A school like I Like I said,
- 17:14Speaker 1: I just do not think there's anything even if Rola
- 17:17Speaker 1: in our entire starting lineup like gets sick with pneumonia
- 17:22Speaker 1: and every and our third stringers play like, I think
- 17:25Speaker 1: we still win this game. That's all I really have
- 17:29Speaker 1: to say on this.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like it's like that Batune Cookman game a
- 17:33Speaker 2: couple of years ago, right.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Not impossible, but but basically impossible will be if you
- 17:43Speaker 3: lose that game.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Ask you, why do you have eighty five percent at
- 17:46Speaker 1: South Alabama?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Just because the couple of years past.
- 17:54Speaker 1: You isn't that Akron?
- 17:59Speaker 4: What?
- 18:01Speaker 3: Yeah, we choose Acron on South Alabama.
- 18:03Speaker 1: I'm not sure why I have South all Abama there.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Okay, now now I know why I put any five
- 18:07Speaker 2: percent because didn't you Oops, wasn't Acron like very close
- 18:11Speaker 2: to beat you guys a couple of years ago where
- 18:12Speaker 2: I think I was a different team the Zips.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Nope, that was the game they got rained out.
- 18:18Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the game they got rained out Scott
- 18:20Speaker 3: Frost's first game.
- 18:23Speaker 2: I mean, Agron's not like.
- 18:26Speaker 3: Ackron's not nobody I guess.
- 18:29Speaker 2: But da, you wouldn't get Acron fifteen percent chance of
- 18:34Speaker 2: winning that game?
- 18:36Speaker 1: No, clearly, look at look you're I'm just saying you're
- 18:41Speaker 1: lower than everybody. So I want you to explain it.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But obviously you probably don't have a reason because you
- 18:46Speaker 1: never do.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Listen, Dak Akron had four hole wins last year and
- 18:51Speaker 3: only one of them was an O T, So they
- 18:54Speaker 3: they might be all right, they got their bucks clean.
- 19:00Speaker 2: I just think you give like they they are not
- 19:04Speaker 2: Houston Christian level of a team.
- 19:05Speaker 1: They they agreed, agreed, you didn't put them in ninety
- 19:09Speaker 1: nine percent. I'm asking you why you put them at eighty.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Five percent, because I'll give acron eighteen percent chance. They're
- 19:14Speaker 2: a D one school, been D one school for a while, like.
- 19:17Speaker 3: They seventeen against Rutgers.
- 19:20Speaker 1: They're a D one school. You get automatic fifteen percent?
- 19:23Speaker 3: Gotcha?
- 19:24Speaker 2: Yep?
- 19:25Speaker 1: Well, the implied odds, I was a ninety seven percent chance,
- 19:30Speaker 1: which is right in the ballpark. Everybody else is at.
- 19:32Speaker 1: Dak fails to give an answer.
- 19:34Speaker 3: To his low.
- 19:35Speaker 1: He's the book though he is not the minimum, but
- 19:39Speaker 1: he's close to it.
- 19:41Speaker 4: Uh.
- 19:41Speaker 1: Next up, Michigan, this that everybody's been talking about. Hopefully
- 19:47Speaker 1: we're not overlooking the Cincinnati game. I think we can
- 19:50Speaker 1: overlook the other two. That's fine. Michigan comes to town
- 19:54Speaker 1: to thirty on September twentieth. Here where we're at, imply
- 20:01Speaker 1: to odds, I think that one might be adjusted it
- 20:04Speaker 1: I can. I think Michigan is favored, but I know
- 20:05Speaker 1: it's very very very close to a pick them. Maybe
- 20:09Speaker 1: Michigan's like a two and a half point favorite. The
- 20:15Speaker 1: average comes in right at forty five percent, which or
- 20:18Speaker 1: Dack said, I'm slightly lower than that at forty. Austin's
- 20:22Speaker 1: right around there at thirty seven twenty percent. The lowest.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Sixty percent is the highest. I think this is one
- 20:29Speaker 1: that some people just think, Oh, it's Michigan. We can't
- 20:31Speaker 1: win this, We're not gonna win this. Michigan's better than us.
- 20:35Speaker 1: We get him at home, and I think they're a
- 20:38Speaker 1: chance at winning. I don't think we're favored to win now,
- 20:43Speaker 1: can we Yes? But forty percent we're kind of all
- 20:47Speaker 1: at in that ballpark.
- 20:49Speaker 3: Because everyone's argument that Michigan's fall off is due to
- 20:52Speaker 3: just talent loss? Is that? Am I correct and saying
- 20:55Speaker 3: that I have not really called Michigan. I know they
- 20:57Speaker 3: got a really good quarterback start, a freshman quarterback.
- 21:01Speaker 1: But that's another big reason bryce Underwood, coming road environment.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Michigan does go play at Oklahoma. I believe in week two.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I think that game will tell us a lot about Michigan.
- 21:15Speaker 1: The other thing to mention here is this is one
- 21:16Speaker 1: of the games that head coach Sharon Moore can not
- 21:18Speaker 1: coaching because they took a self imposed two game suspension.
- 21:23Speaker 1: They play somebody else and nobody the week before had
- 21:26Speaker 1: to be back to back. They chose our game and
- 21:29Speaker 1: they're no name versus the Oklahoma no name, So that
- 21:33Speaker 1: might add a little bit of if the Huskers play
- 21:35Speaker 1: it right, a little bit added motivation that they don't
- 21:39Speaker 1: think they need their head coach. Which is it that
- 21:41Speaker 1: big of a deal in today's college football world. Probably not,
- 21:44Speaker 1: but it's going to be made out to be when
- 21:46Speaker 1: we get to that game.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I mean, Michigan's quarterback situation last year was absolutely terrible.
- 21:51Speaker 3: So yeah, they've I mean won seven games. Yeah, they
- 21:57Speaker 3: won seven games and the five losses they lost at Texas, Oregon, Indiana, Illinois,
- 22:04Speaker 3: and they beat Ohio State by three in the end
- 22:06Speaker 3: the season.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Yeah, you just know.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Michigan.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Michigan is always gonna have a good old line, good
- 22:18Speaker 2: running game. It's just that quarterback position with them, that
- 22:20Speaker 2: would be their big difference.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I think whoever gave them sixty percents insane. They whoever
- 22:28Speaker 3: that is, I guarantee the rest of their win not
- 22:31Speaker 3: they have us winning nine ten wins. If you have
- 22:33Speaker 3: a mission speaking Michigan at sixty, and I think that
- 22:38Speaker 3: person actually does so, I would say, honestly, I'm gives
- 22:42Speaker 3: a prize fifty two for the implied odds. I think
- 22:45Speaker 3: that's crazy high.
- 22:48Speaker 1: I did look at the at Fuian here who sent
- 22:52Speaker 1: me the text, and he said, he kind of did
- 22:54Speaker 1: it off of season win totals and then how you'd like.
- 22:58Speaker 1: So it's not perfect imply to odds, but it's close,
- 23:01Speaker 1: he said. A lot of them are, but there they
- 23:04Speaker 1: are adjusted a little bit, but that gives a kind
- 23:05Speaker 1: of a close ballpark number. Okay, Michigan State, we're all
- 23:15Speaker 1: very similar. I'm a little higher than people here men
- 23:19Speaker 1: of forty percent max eighty percent. Man, there's someone that's
- 23:22Speaker 1: really pessimistic out there. An average median right around sixty
- 23:27Speaker 1: five percent. I'm at seventy five, Austin sixty eight imply
- 23:31Speaker 1: to odds, sixty eight percent on this game's at home.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I do think we're coming off of a bye week
- 23:36Speaker 1: heading into this one. I think that helps us a
- 23:39Speaker 1: little bit of a reset. I do think if we
- 23:41Speaker 1: get beat by Michigan I think that is kind of
- 23:48Speaker 1: a bounce back game for US. I don't think Michigan
- 23:50Speaker 1: State's great. We obviously have lost to them in the past.
- 23:54Speaker 1: I get that, but I think this is more of
- 23:56Speaker 1: like a get right game for us, or just a
- 23:58Speaker 1: straight ride the momentum game, versus it being a potential
- 24:04Speaker 1: trap game if things are going well for us. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: don't think Michigan State could be better n the year
- 24:12Speaker 1: two under Jonathan Smith, Like it could be a lot better.
- 24:16Speaker 1: I just think a lot of people are down on them.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I don't know why really, but I do feel good
- 24:20Speaker 1: about that one being at home, regardless of our record
- 24:24Speaker 1: at that time.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Well similar, it's similar to the Michigan game. Quarterback position.
- 24:30Speaker 2: Mischigan State again not strong in that field.
- 24:35Speaker 3: They are also coming off of a bye before they
- 24:37Speaker 3: play us.
- 24:40Speaker 1: A right, good point, yep. I Also, I also don't
- 24:47Speaker 1: think I like their quarterback.
- 24:51Speaker 3: Because it's the old Oregon State quarterback. Correct? Did he
- 24:55Speaker 3: play there? I don't know.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it is Aidan Giles. I like him a lot actually,
- 24:59Speaker 1: and I think he's He was young last year, but
- 25:04Speaker 1: I think he does he has a lot better pieces
- 25:07Speaker 1: than what Michigan had last year. He's back for a
- 25:10Speaker 1: second year as well. I mean I I that's the
- 25:12Speaker 1: one part of their team that does scare me is
- 25:14Speaker 1: is him being an athletic mobile leader. So did you
- 25:19Speaker 1: know who their quarterback even was before this podcast? Ye?
- 25:23Speaker 1: I don't think he did. I did? Uh? Okay, anything
- 25:32Speaker 1: else on the Spartans, I don't think so.
- 25:37Speaker 3: One of these years they're gonna turn it around. The
- 25:40Speaker 3: State used to be pretty good.
- 25:43Speaker 2: All I remember about them is two years ago that
- 25:45Speaker 2: the worst reffing game I ever saw in my life
- 25:46Speaker 2: at Michigan State.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah it was the punt that we punted the wrong way.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that was out And they were horrible that year.
- 25:59Speaker 2: And I was like, I put a lot of money
- 26:02Speaker 2: on a rask of that game, and you know what
- 26:04Speaker 2: I lost.
- 26:05Speaker 1: That was Mel Tucker's last year. And guess who was
- 26:08Speaker 1: attending the game. Hunter, speaking of Arbadiki attending the game at.
- 26:18Speaker 3: Maryland Terra Fins this year.
- 26:22Speaker 1: Huh, And look at the odds. My odds might imply.
- 26:26Speaker 2: That, Yeah, there's the reason why you put it fifty.
- 26:28Speaker 1: We are right around the same as Michigan State. We're
- 26:31Speaker 1: on the road. The Turfs have struggled. Mike Loxley out
- 26:35Speaker 1: there as the head coach. Not sure what year he's in,
- 26:38Speaker 1: but they are a game that a lot of people
- 26:40Speaker 1: think we should win, including the implied odds. I'm up
- 26:43Speaker 1: around seventy percent. Someone did put us at twenty seven
- 26:49Speaker 1: percent to win on the road. It is a road game.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I have as lower than the average by quite a bit.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I am going guys, this is just speaks trap game
- 26:57Speaker 1: to me, just everywhere, regardless of where we're at. And
- 27:01Speaker 1: I did think we're beating Michigan State. So I think
- 27:03Speaker 1: regardless whether we're four and one, five and zero, three
- 27:06Speaker 1: and two, hopefully not three and two, but we could be.
- 27:11Speaker 1: I think this is one that we can slip up
- 27:15Speaker 1: on out there, I sleepy stadium. I think we might
- 27:20Speaker 1: overlook them. We shouldn't overlook anybody, but just naturally happens.
- 27:26Speaker 1: I do think this is going to be a maybe
- 27:29Speaker 1: I'll be wrong. I hope I'm wrong and we go
- 27:30Speaker 1: out and just whoop them, but going so, I just
- 27:33Speaker 1: don't think that will happen exact.
- 27:35Speaker 3: This is Irvniki travel. Pessimism is what this is. Not
- 27:39Speaker 3: that I'm saying sixty three is much higher than fifty,
- 27:41Speaker 3: but I mean Maryland has been strong the last couple
- 27:45Speaker 3: of years. They're about a five hundred team, and we've
- 27:48Speaker 3: also been about a five hundred team. But I would
- 27:51Speaker 3: probably say most people can see the improvement as far
- 27:55Speaker 3: as recruiting goes for us, where I don't think Maryland's
- 27:59Speaker 3: quite seen that same. You know, we at least have
- 28:01Speaker 3: five star quarterback and you really haven't seen that on
- 28:06Speaker 3: the Maryland side.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and they just lost there. There's no more Tyler
- 28:12Speaker 2: or whatever you say his.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Name, Hungry Ung Gay or whatever.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, who was probably one of the best players they've had,
- 28:23Speaker 2: maybe ever.
- 28:24Speaker 3: They were having some locker like Locksley said like, yeah, well,
- 28:27Speaker 3: actually we had locker issues because the dollar amount stuff
- 28:30Speaker 3: is like, man, if you're talking about that public you
- 28:33Speaker 3: know you're having.
- 28:34Speaker 2: It, just throw your team underneath the bus.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Yeah yeah exactly. It's like, well, the reason we didn't
- 28:39Speaker 3: do that well last year is because the players were
- 28:41Speaker 3: talking about money. It's like, oh boy, yeah it was.
- 28:46Speaker 1: It was basically blamed and I al.
- 28:50Speaker 3: Yes, okay.
- 28:55Speaker 1: At Minnesota Short Week Friday, h we're sitting right around
- 29:02Speaker 1: that fifty percent mark from the poll that we sent out,
- 29:05Speaker 1: including Dak and Austin. I'm lower than that here and
- 29:09Speaker 1: flight Odds also fifty one percent. This is another game
- 29:11Speaker 1: that I just I don't feel great about.
- 29:15Speaker 3: It depends on a trap Maryland trap game exactly. That's
- 29:21Speaker 3: what I'm saying. If we if Maryland, if we will
- 29:24Speaker 3: beat Maryland, this game becomes a lot harder. But if
- 29:26Speaker 3: we lose to Maryland, I feel much better about this game.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Minnesota has had your number ever since you guys since
- 29:33Speaker 2: the rast game of the Big Ten too.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Who hasn't and never since you came into the Big Ten? True?
- 29:40Speaker 2: But Purdue, Yeah, I don't know. I feel like Minnesota's
- 29:48Speaker 2: There's only been one time you absolutely kick the doors
- 29:50Speaker 2: off of other than that, it's always a tight game
- 29:53Speaker 2: with them.
- 29:56Speaker 5: And I really like their quarterback Tanner Morgan not he's done,
- 30:03Speaker 5: finally home somewhere.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I'm sure he's on their coaching staff. What do you
- 30:10Speaker 3: think Tanner Morgan's up to these days?
- 30:14Speaker 2: Right, Gar Salesman, I think I think he is on
- 30:18Speaker 2: He's probably on some roster he is. I think the
- 30:22Speaker 2: Vikings took him, no way, I'm pretty sure they picked
- 30:27Speaker 2: him up.
- 30:27Speaker 3: You guys keep talking. Oh yeah, I think Steelers.
- 30:32Speaker 2: I could have swear anyway.
- 30:34Speaker 3: The Vikings had him. He's a practice squad member of
- 30:38Speaker 3: the Vikings. In twenty eight three. He is at the
- 30:43Speaker 3: University of Minnesota as an offensive analyst. Oh following his release,
- 30:49Speaker 3: never never, never Rid he is at the Vikings. He's
- 30:54Speaker 3: at the Vikings.
- 30:54Speaker 1: He is at the Vikings. Okay, Morgan talk here. Nebraska
- 30:59Speaker 1: has lost our last five teams against Minnesota so you're right,
- 31:02Speaker 1: they've had our number. Our last win was in twenty
- 31:04Speaker 1: eighteen when we just whooped them fifty three to twenty eight.
- 31:08Speaker 3: Was gonna be right in the world that was I
- 31:11Speaker 3: remember that.
- 31:11Speaker 1: Game distinkly, just felt great, like this is awesome. But yeah,
- 31:15Speaker 1: they've had our number. PJ Fleck has had our number.
- 31:18Speaker 1: I do think PJ. Fleck can't be hanging on there
- 31:23Speaker 1: much longer just being where he's at. Maybe Minnesota fans
- 31:25Speaker 1: don't care, but I do think this kind of it's
- 31:27Speaker 1: one of those years that PJ flex got to show
- 31:29Speaker 1: up and show out a little bit for Minnesota for
- 31:33Speaker 1: him to continue. But yeah, about fifty percent, it's gonna
- 31:38Speaker 1: be a tough one northwesterns our next one at home.
- 31:43Speaker 1: This is one that my that was my third maybe
- 31:49Speaker 1: win win, gimme game seventy eight eighty percent kind of
- 31:55Speaker 1: where the average is at. We're all right in that
- 31:59Speaker 1: ballpark between sevent I'm on the high end, Austin a
- 32:02Speaker 1: little bit on the low end. But I think this
- 32:03Speaker 1: is a game that you know what, it's at home.
- 32:07Speaker 1: We beat them last year. I think that we should
- 32:13Speaker 1: take care of businesses game. I think we're better than Northwestern.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I can, for weirdly one time say that against another
- 32:20Speaker 1: team in the Big Ten that we're playing against. But
- 32:22Speaker 1: I do feel like this is a game we we
- 32:24Speaker 1: should and will win, not like it's a gimme like
- 32:29Speaker 1: Akron and Houston Krishan are, but that's it.
- 32:32Speaker 3: Has a tendency to give us problems for some reason.
- 32:35Speaker 3: They're always close games. So I mean, I know they
- 32:41Speaker 3: have a new this is a year two with their
- 32:43Speaker 3: new coach. I couldn't tell you his name, but I
- 32:48Speaker 3: just I couldn't shake the feeling that every game has
- 32:50Speaker 3: forth the Western team to be a field.
- 32:52Speaker 2: Goal or two, and they've been down for a long
- 32:55Speaker 2: time too. Is the is the reason why you're saying
- 33:01Speaker 2: that because of the Northwestern Ireland game?
- 33:05Speaker 3: Probably still over?
- 33:07Speaker 2: Yeah you still nightmares about that one?
- 33:10Speaker 3: Yes, I mean I.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Will say there was. I think since we joined the
- 33:13Speaker 1: Big Ten, the running joke for a while was the
- 33:17Speaker 1: three point games between Northwestern. I mean it was a
- 33:21Speaker 1: three inside a three point game for quite a while.
- 33:24Speaker 1: We are seven and six since we've joined the Big Ten. Gosh,
- 33:27Speaker 1: it still sounds sad to say against the Northwestern, but
- 33:30Speaker 1: seven and six against Northwestern since we joined Yeah, the
- 33:34Speaker 1: most recent loss there being in Ireland. I guess I
- 33:39Speaker 1: take that back last last year or two years ago.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I guess we didn't play them last year. We only
- 33:43Speaker 1: won seventeen to nine, and in Lincoln, but we did win.
- 33:52Speaker 2: Went to the worst football game I've ever watched in person,
- 33:54Speaker 2: Northwest Nebraska. It was when Martinez is the year that
- 33:58Speaker 2: he was coming out of the Heisman hype. The war
- 34:00Speaker 2: full game ever?
- 34:01Speaker 1: Was that? Was that the thirteen to ten yes field goal?
- 34:04Speaker 1: We have the field above the cross Star?
- 34:08Speaker 4: What?
- 34:08Speaker 2: What was that like? A thirty yard field goal?
- 34:11Speaker 1: Hey win in Laine McCallum, baby Lane McCallum converted safety
- 34:16Speaker 1: to kicker, came through hey usc at home surprise. I
- 34:27Speaker 1: guess it's a fifty percent chance.
- 34:30Speaker 4: Dak.
- 34:30Speaker 1: You're the lowest tier, so I'm gonna need an explanation
- 34:32Speaker 1: from you. But I think everybody's right around fifty fifty
- 34:35Speaker 1: at home. I think it's similar to the Michigan game
- 34:37Speaker 1: in my mind. US obviously has a lot of talent
- 34:42Speaker 1: out there. I just don't think Lincoln Riley is a
- 34:45Speaker 1: very good coach. You'll say thank you because you have
- 34:50Speaker 1: a lower rods. You gotta explain why he's a good coach.
- 34:55Speaker 1: So I think at home and where we're at in
- 34:57Speaker 1: the schedule, I think, I hope we can win this game.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I think a lot of people think we can, and
- 35:03Speaker 1: gets a pretty even fifty fifty game.
- 35:07Speaker 3: I think we can. I mean, they're coming off they
- 35:11Speaker 3: play Michigan, Notre Dame. Then they do have a bye
- 35:13Speaker 3: weekend on the playoffs. That's the one thing that kind
- 35:15Speaker 3: of scares me is they're coming off of bybe when
- 35:17Speaker 3: we have to travel out to California. But I think
- 35:22Speaker 3: talent wise, I mean, I think they just have better,
- 35:25Speaker 3: better recruiting classes, and I don't know about the development
- 35:28Speaker 3: of the actual coaching strategy, but I would say that
- 35:30Speaker 3: they have more natural talent probably than our roster does,
- 35:35Speaker 3: which always scares me just size wise.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's the reason why I put at thirty
- 35:42Speaker 2: five percent, because I think US has quite a bit
- 35:46Speaker 2: more talent than the rask it does and better coaching,
- 35:49Speaker 2: not better coaching. That's that's that is not true. Which
- 35:55Speaker 2: Lincoln Riley might not be the coach of that game.
- 36:02Speaker 2: I think he could get he could get canned before
- 36:06Speaker 2: that game.
- 36:06Speaker 1: Well that I don't know that that would be a
- 36:08Speaker 1: great reason for you to say why you have it
- 36:10Speaker 1: lower because their interims better than Lincoln Riley.
- 36:13Speaker 4: He is.
- 36:14Speaker 2: I think Lincoln Radley is a horrible coach, and I've
- 36:16Speaker 2: said that ever since he left Oklahoma.
- 36:19Speaker 3: I don't think he's gonna get fired Dak. I think
- 36:23Speaker 3: their schedule, they play Missouri quick, USC rundown schedule. I
- 36:29Speaker 3: think they're gonna start five and two at worst because
- 36:32Speaker 3: it's Missouri State, Georgia, Southern Perdue, Michigan State, Illinois, then
- 36:36Speaker 3: Michigan the other day than US. So you really have
- 36:40Speaker 3: to goober up that start of the season to get fired.
- 36:44Speaker 2: I mean, would you say he is on the hottest
- 36:47Speaker 2: seat of coaching the Big Ten?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Yes, I have PJ Flack fire bit Oh okay, I
- 36:58Speaker 1: don't know.
- 36:58Speaker 2: He hasn't he hasn't done if anything is he's been
- 37:01Speaker 2: in USC and he he had, He's had talent every
- 37:04Speaker 2: single year. Just nothing is the other still their quarterback
- 37:09Speaker 2: no Jade and my aba, oh the guys which he played,
- 37:19Speaker 2: I don't know. Last last year against Nebraska, he was Okay,
- 37:24Speaker 2: I guess yeah.
- 37:25Speaker 1: I mean he's a good quarterback. I think he's pretty solid.
- 37:27Speaker 1: I think he had a chance to have a breakout
- 37:29Speaker 1: year if things go right.
- 37:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna say Lincoln Rowley's not coaching that game right
- 37:38Speaker 2: that in pain.
- 37:40Speaker 1: That's one of your weird takes that sometimes you normally
- 37:42Speaker 1: get right. Uh at UCLA next game one of our
- 37:49Speaker 1: I guess the USC was a pretty high spread too
- 37:51Speaker 1: between our men and our max. But UCLA also we
- 37:53Speaker 1: have a thirty five percent low and an eighty percent high.
- 37:56Speaker 1: From our surveys. Everything came in right around fifty percent
- 37:59Speaker 1: from an averag standpoint. Austin and I again are right there.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Jack's a little lower Sean Foster year two. Does anybody
- 38:07Speaker 1: know where u c l a Is located? You guys,
- 38:13Speaker 1: You guys didn't listen to Big Ten media days last
- 38:15Speaker 1: year as a funny joke, and they were hoping he'd
- 38:19Speaker 1: do it again. He came into in the Big Ten
- 38:22Speaker 1: Media Days and said, we're u c l A. Uh
- 38:25Speaker 1: We're in California. So uh yeah, they they again, tricky
- 38:34Speaker 1: spot going out there. The Rose Bowl and u c
- 38:37Speaker 1: l A. Fans are never known for having large crowds.
- 38:41Speaker 1: I do expect there to be a large large amount
- 38:43Speaker 1: of Husker fans if the season's probably regardless, but especially
- 38:47Speaker 1: if the season is going decently well.
- 38:51Speaker 2: I mean there's a pretty high STO mean, more Husker
- 38:53Speaker 2: fans in this game, right, Yeah?
- 38:54Speaker 1: At U C l A. I do think from what
- 38:56Speaker 1: I've been hearing, they've gotten a little bit better support
- 39:01Speaker 1: maybe the past couple of years. But it's still on
- 39:06Speaker 1: the road. I just I don't know. I I think
- 39:10Speaker 1: it's at fifty game. They have some talent too, They're
- 39:12Speaker 1: still they still have California talent.
- 39:14Speaker 3: They have that Tennessee quarterback right.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Correct, and Nico ian lava Lea or however you say
- 39:20Speaker 1: his name. He he transferred out there, which he it
- 39:23Speaker 1: was him and Dylan right from last year's QB class
- 39:25Speaker 1: for the two freshmen coming in. And you know, Nico,
- 39:28Speaker 1: Nico didn't have a great year like it wasn't like
- 39:30Speaker 1: he put up Heisman type numbers at Tennessee because he
- 39:33Speaker 1: had a pretty solid year. But yeah, he transferred out.
- 39:36Speaker 3: And went to U C.
- 39:37Speaker 4: L A.
- 39:39Speaker 3: I my odds, I'm looking at him now, but I'm
- 39:42Speaker 3: thinking it should be lower because I don't loved you
- 39:46Speaker 3: have a road game before a bye week after playing
- 39:49Speaker 3: USC at home. But they just haven't lost to him
- 39:55Speaker 3: last year, right.
- 39:57Speaker 2: And that would you guys say that, I think it
- 40:00Speaker 2: was that was your worst loss of the season last year. No, really,
- 40:06Speaker 2: I don't think it was.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Oh worst losses in like most embarrassing.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yeah, like most.
- 40:12Speaker 1: I was gonna say the worst losses that hurt the
- 40:14Speaker 1: most was the Iowa game. God, that hurt that.
- 40:16Speaker 3: That was the I think the life loses embarrassing. It
- 40:19Speaker 3: was Illinois. I mean that that overtime was so bad.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I've never seen the worst overtime, You're right kidding.
- 40:33Speaker 1: But the U c l A one hurt just because
- 40:36Speaker 1: the one that would get us to a ball game.
- 40:41Speaker 1: That's why that one hurt probably a little more. And
- 40:43Speaker 1: we thought, you know, okay, it's at home, we should
- 40:44Speaker 1: win this game. And then we didn't, and.
- 40:47Speaker 2: The game too, like it was never it felt like
- 40:50Speaker 2: U c l A. I was going to win that
- 40:52Speaker 2: game the whole game.
- 40:54Speaker 3: U c l A also coming offuted by week for
- 40:56Speaker 3: US Man four one. Yeah, but they do play at
- 41:04Speaker 3: Ohio State after US so it could be a looking
- 41:09Speaker 3: ahead kind of game. Maybe, I don't know. With the
- 41:11Speaker 3: Bibie man, there's a lot of teams coming off of
- 41:13Speaker 3: bye week against this.
- 41:15Speaker 2: I mean, Nico's not a horrible quarterback either that's that's
- 41:20Speaker 2: going to be a very tough game, which which I
- 41:23Speaker 2: say that as I have the lowest thoughts.
- 41:27Speaker 3: Yes, you do way to depend that one dak.
- 41:33Speaker 2: The the at in front of the team right there
- 41:36Speaker 2: does not meaning it could be on game.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Oh roca before we do that. This is an opinion
- 41:44Speaker 1: that I have that I don't know if it's very common,
- 41:47Speaker 1: but people make a big deal about traveling to across
- 41:53Speaker 1: time zones two time zones, you know, playing I'm not
- 41:58Speaker 1: sure when this game will be, but if you know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: if they it's normally eleven o'clock, it would be like
- 42:02Speaker 1: a nine o'clock game for us over there if it was.
- 42:05Speaker 1: You know, people make a big deal about that in
- 42:07Speaker 1: the betting world, in the prediction world. I I truly
- 42:11Speaker 1: don't think it matters that much at all. Really, I
- 42:16Speaker 1: think they think it messes with the player's minds and
- 42:18Speaker 1: the brains and all that. Like, I think it's big
- 42:22Speaker 1: swings in time of day, but as far as like
- 42:24Speaker 1: two hours and travel tag time and lag goes like
- 42:27Speaker 1: these these kids especially are traveling all over the country
- 42:30Speaker 1: now like growing up for random youth stuff and are
- 42:35Speaker 1: used to doing some of that so I I don't.
- 42:39Speaker 1: To me, that doesn't affect or swing, not just because
- 42:42Speaker 1: UCLA doesn't have a home crowd, but the travel thing,
- 42:44Speaker 1: I don't think that's a huge flaw. Some people are
- 42:49Speaker 1: big believers in that. I'm not.
- 42:53Speaker 2: No, you just usually with this is you leave a
- 42:57Speaker 2: day or two earlier for these longer So I don't.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I don't think it matters either.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I thought there was a stat last year that teams
- 43:07Speaker 3: that traveled performed worse against the spread. That could be wrong.
- 43:11Speaker 1: There might be I think there probably some data and
- 43:15Speaker 1: I don't know. I just I don't see that that way.
- 43:18Speaker 4: Now.
- 43:18Speaker 1: I do think different topic that we're not going to
- 43:20Speaker 1: get into, but I do think time of day, when
- 43:22Speaker 1: you're practicing and how your bodies are programmed, there is
- 43:26Speaker 1: an impact. But we won't get into that today because
- 43:29Speaker 1: I think there may be some conversation on that later
- 43:31Speaker 1: in the year.
- 43:33Speaker 2: It's not like this eighteen hundred. You're not going there
- 43:35Speaker 2: on the horse and carriage. You're you're taking a three
- 43:37Speaker 2: hour flight there.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Right, That's true. Private jets.
- 43:44Speaker 1: Yep uh, Penn State off of bye week, going to
- 43:50Speaker 1: Happy Valley A tough, tough, tough game. No, one's got
- 43:55Speaker 1: us over fifty percent, but someone got us close. There's's
- 44:00Speaker 1: got the lowest odds here, tied for the lowest dodgs
- 44:02Speaker 1: of somebody else five percent. I'm at fifteen decks at twenty. Surprisingly,
- 44:08Speaker 1: our average did come in around twenty. I think that's high.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I'm a little high. That imply odds right around eighteen percent.
- 44:17Speaker 1: It's not gonna be an easy game. Penn State, like
- 44:20Speaker 1: I mentioned before, is a national title contender. I said
- 44:25Speaker 1: dark horse earlier, but I think they're even one that's
- 44:27Speaker 1: potentially getting a lot of votes.
- 44:30Speaker 3: And two Mike hyped up like crazy for some reason.
- 44:34Speaker 1: Yes, James Franklin is needing to win the big one.
- 44:40Speaker 1: I'll say that he's close. They've had a very very
- 44:42Speaker 1: very good program year after year, going on the road.
- 44:46Speaker 1: As it guys probably know, is the tough thing at
- 44:50Speaker 1: Penn State. At a Happy Valley. It's one of the
- 44:52Speaker 1: best stadiums in the country. Largest. I did hear from
- 44:56Speaker 1: my uncle who lives out there that they're redoing a
- 44:58Speaker 1: lot of part of the stadium which is going to
- 45:00Speaker 1: take out some ten to twenty thousand seats this year.
- 45:04Speaker 1: So that's getting redone and it won't be done this year,
- 45:07Speaker 1: so that maybe helps a little bit. Not there being
- 45:11Speaker 1: one hundred and fifteen hundred and twenty thousand in there
- 45:13Speaker 1: but only one hundred thousand.
- 45:15Speaker 2: You done to this one?
- 45:17Speaker 1: No, I don't think I'll make it out. And he
- 45:19Speaker 1: said to just wait till they get the stadium done,
- 45:21Speaker 1: which I think that makes sense, even though we haven't
- 45:24Speaker 1: played out there, and I guess we played out there
- 45:27Speaker 1: during COVID.
- 45:28Speaker 3: I believe, yeah we did. We won and we won
- 45:31Speaker 3: like a fifteen to eleven game.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Or yep, yeah, who was there? Here's a good question.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Who's the quarterback that game?
- 45:38Speaker 3: For US or them?
- 45:39Speaker 2: Nebraska? I have no clue.
- 45:46Speaker 1: That was a year I think we had seven quarterbacks
- 45:48Speaker 1: start for US and throughout it.
- 45:49Speaker 2: Pretty sure he played that full game and it was
- 45:53Speaker 2: you know, there wasn't much offense in that game. But
- 45:56Speaker 2: this is this game runs me a lot of last
- 45:58Speaker 2: year with the high of State. We all gave him
- 45:59Speaker 2: no shot and should have probably won.
- 46:05Speaker 3: That's fair. I mean Penn State coming down the year,
- 46:10Speaker 3: they could they probably have. Don't have one loss between
- 46:14Speaker 3: Oregon and Ohio State might have two of Faylor's both
- 46:17Speaker 3: those games, so it could be high pressure for them
- 46:22Speaker 3: if they're hoping for playoff birth.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I I agree. I think it could be a trap
- 46:31Speaker 1: game quote unquote for them.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Between Michigan State and Rutgers road games.
- 46:38Speaker 2: Were you we've been serious about you don't know why
- 46:41Speaker 2: Drew Allers getting on his hype.
- 46:45Speaker 3: I'm not saying don't know why, but I'm saying he's
- 46:47Speaker 3: getting a ton of hype.
- 46:50Speaker 2: I think I think he's a damn good quarterback. I
- 46:56Speaker 2: wasn't okay, I wasn't huge on him until the playoffs
- 46:59Speaker 2: last year. I thought he played great in the playoffs
- 47:01Speaker 2: and that change my mind on him.
- 47:02Speaker 3: But no, I think it's good. I think Penn State
- 47:05Speaker 3: will be good. But I I mean he's up their
- 47:09Speaker 3: top three heisman onds.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's pretty high up there. He's I
- 47:16Speaker 1: think he's got very high draft stock as well. Awesome
- 47:23Speaker 1: double check on the Heisman odds here.
- 47:25Speaker 3: And I'm pulling up arch Manning. Wait too, I let's.
- 47:29Speaker 2: See he's number one.
- 47:31Speaker 3: No No, yeah, okay, well I gotta find by the
- 47:38Speaker 3: way one arch Maning is number one.
- 47:40Speaker 1: Just a savior as far as podcast research and stuff,
- 47:45Speaker 1: I love it.
- 47:47Speaker 3: He is tied Drewellers tied for fifth with plus sixteen
- 47:52Speaker 3: hundred as of July eighth, So I guess this is
- 47:56Speaker 3: a month old.
- 47:57Speaker 2: But but yeah, so bud Arch because at the top,
- 48:01Speaker 2: all right, if anybody's looking to just go throw money
- 48:02Speaker 2: to the wind, go put money on our man into
- 48:04Speaker 2: win heisman, I.
- 48:05Speaker 3: Could probably agree.
- 48:09Speaker 1: I don't know, we'll get that in our conference previous
- 48:12Speaker 1: year in a couple of couple of days. Iowa last
- 48:17Speaker 1: game in the schedule at home this year eleven am
- 48:20Speaker 1: on Black Friday. Word out of consensus around sixty percent.
- 48:26Speaker 1: DA's at fifty percent, I'm at sixty Austin's at fifty five.
- 48:31Speaker 1: It's Iowa, guys. I that's why home. I don't know
- 48:36Speaker 1: if anything warrants more than a you know, ten percent
- 48:40Speaker 1: either way, but the home home field advantage, and that.
- 48:44Speaker 3: Was five percent. I was like, at the fifty percent game,
- 48:47Speaker 3: but that home, we'll give it fifty five.
- 48:49Speaker 1: And I think a lot of people just throw out
- 48:50Speaker 1: fifty to fifty as a as a general, like it's Iowa.
- 48:55Speaker 1: You never know.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Now.
- 48:56Speaker 1: I say that with a little bit of a smirk,
- 48:59Speaker 1: because Iowa has kicked our ass recently, and I think
- 49:03Speaker 1: they've won seven of the last eight or something like that,
- 49:05Speaker 1: or six of the last eight something around there. So
- 49:09Speaker 1: it's at home this year. Gosh, I feel like this
- 49:12Speaker 1: should be the year we get them at home, regardless
- 49:14Speaker 1: of anything else in the previous eleven games. I tried
- 49:17Speaker 1: to look at this one in isolation because I do
- 49:19Speaker 1: think rivalry games and a lot of that, and every
- 49:22Speaker 1: year it becomes more and more of a rivalry game.
- 49:24Speaker 1: You have to kind of do that. It's it's rivalry
- 49:27Speaker 1: week on Black Friday. So I just feel like we
- 49:33Speaker 1: can get this one done better than a fifty to
- 49:35Speaker 1: fifty chance.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Do you think Iowa fans feel the same way about
- 49:40Speaker 3: the Nebraska game or is it just Nebraska fants that
- 49:42Speaker 3: are so close we always.
- 49:44Speaker 1: I think iowas well. I know this Iowa's biggest rival.
- 49:47Speaker 1: It's not Nebraska, it's Minnesota, right, Minnesota, So for that reason, Austin,
- 49:55Speaker 1: I do think they view us as a rival. But
- 49:58Speaker 1: because they kicked their ass over an over, they're like, okay,
- 50:02Speaker 1: like we'll battle you for the corn and just say
- 50:05Speaker 1: we have better corn. And but they care more about
- 50:09Speaker 1: the Minnesota game than the Nebraska because I think they've
- 50:12Speaker 1: owned us in recent years.
- 50:16Speaker 2: There was some ranking I thought I was coming into
- 50:19Speaker 2: this game with a better quarterback. I saw. I think
- 50:25Speaker 2: it was the athletic rank quarterbacks going the season, and
- 50:28Speaker 2: I was just like thirty seventh and right, I was
- 50:30Speaker 2: thirty eighth.
- 50:30Speaker 3: So really, who's their quarterback?
- 50:37Speaker 4: Hunter?
- 50:39Speaker 2: You know what?
- 50:40Speaker 4: No?
- 50:40Speaker 1: I don't.
- 50:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I cannot remember what his name is.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's your stats. So you better have the
- 50:45Speaker 1: you better have the quarterbackally smoked.
- 50:48Speaker 3: They have so many people. Is it Jackson Stratton? Nope,
- 50:55Speaker 3: Mark Brown, Brono Whiskey.
- 51:00Speaker 2: That's who it is.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, it is still a Kirk Farren's offense. It
- 51:07Speaker 1: is Mark Ronowski.
- 51:08Speaker 3: I believe South Dakota State jack Grabbit, so.
- 51:15Speaker 2: A lot of hype on him.
- 51:19Speaker 1: The win total odds, and here's where we landed. So
- 51:25Speaker 1: as a group, seven and a half is right around
- 51:28Speaker 1: the average in the median. Our lowest came in at
- 51:31Speaker 1: right at six six wins. Our highest came in at
- 51:34Speaker 1: eight point six, eight point seven. As I would have
- 51:40Speaker 1: thought backs at six point eight. I was at just
- 51:42Speaker 1: over seven at seven point one. Austin's at seven point three.
- 51:46Speaker 1: So what's funny we're all still technically kind of on
- 51:50Speaker 1: the unders. I don't I don't know, it's I guess
- 51:56Speaker 1: it's probably a little bit of the prove it mode
- 52:00Speaker 1: is where all of us are at, including a lot
- 52:03Speaker 1: of our fans and people that filled this out. But
- 52:06Speaker 1: there's definitely some very pessimistic and very optimistic still baked
- 52:10Speaker 1: into all of this. But right now everyone's becoming a
- 52:14Speaker 1: little more realistic in our predictions. And I think we
- 52:17Speaker 1: joke about the Husker kool aid and the preseason hype
- 52:21Speaker 1: every year. That becomes more and more and more of
- 52:23Speaker 1: a sarcastic joke to me than actually being what you
- 52:27Speaker 1: think now five six, seven, ten, fifteen years ago when
- 52:32Speaker 1: that kool aid, that hype, that those were realistic projections
- 52:36Speaker 1: and thoughts. When people would say we're going to go
- 52:38Speaker 1: ten and two, eleven and one, people thought that. Now
- 52:41Speaker 1: people are saying eleven and one, twelve and zero. I
- 52:46Speaker 1: think that's more of a laugh, like hu, we'd like
- 52:50Speaker 1: to make fun of us drinking the kool aid. So
- 52:52Speaker 1: I want to throw that out there because I think
- 52:53Speaker 1: people get a little confused about That's my take on it.
- 52:56Speaker 1: In the Usterer football conversation, when that happens versus actually
- 53:02Speaker 1: being real talk, it's more sarcastic jokes. But I do
- 53:07Speaker 1: think people right now like there's a not lack of hope,
- 53:11Speaker 1: but diminishing hope of that we can ever turn this
- 53:15Speaker 1: this football program back to playoff type contenders. Now that being.
- 53:22Speaker 3: Said, sixteen teams in the playoffs.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Yeah, that's going to keep expanding. The collegeotball landscap's going
- 53:28Speaker 1: to keep moving, So who knows where that'll end up
- 53:33Speaker 1: before we wrap up here. There's what I want you
- 53:34Speaker 1: guys to do, and and you can break it up
- 53:37Speaker 1: however you want to do it in sections. I kind
- 53:41Speaker 1: of have it all. I'm doing it, but I want
- 53:42Speaker 1: to kind of give your worst case scenario what that
- 53:45Speaker 1: looks like, what that and anybody say what it means?
- 53:49Speaker 1: You know, it doesn't have to be impossible, but that
- 53:51Speaker 1: probably could happen. It could happen on the worst case side,
- 53:54Speaker 1: and then your your best case like where things could go,
- 54:00Speaker 1: your ceiling flour And we obviously have kind of our
- 54:03Speaker 1: actual thoughts in here already, so I don't care who
- 54:06Speaker 1: goes first.
- 54:09Speaker 3: I'll go burst worst case scenario. We start the year,
- 54:13Speaker 3: the first third of our games, we go two and two.
- 54:16Speaker 3: You know, we drop the home opener against Cincinnati, and
- 54:19Speaker 3: everyone drives home from Kansas City super sad, except you know,
- 54:22Speaker 3: we have to listen to Travis Kelsey celebrate. We get
- 54:25Speaker 3: our asses handed to us by Michigan at home. The
- 54:30Speaker 3: rule eight is done. You know, season feels like it's
- 54:34Speaker 3: over too and two. We then go on a nice
- 54:35Speaker 3: little three game win streak. We go five and two
- 54:38Speaker 3: going into the year, and then we end the year
- 54:40Speaker 3: losing every single game five and twelve, not five and twelve. Geez,
- 54:45Speaker 3: that'd just be rough. Five and twelve, five and seven.
- 54:51Speaker 1: And then give us the give us the best case.
- 54:55Speaker 3: I mean best case. You start the year out, you
- 54:58Speaker 3: win every game up until Penn State, I mean every
- 55:03Speaker 3: other every like I mean there is like, you know,
- 55:07Speaker 3: a shooter's chance that you're running through, and then you
- 55:09Speaker 3: hit Penn State and you lose, and you get the
- 55:12Speaker 3: year out eleven and one, probably eleven and two. You're
- 55:16Speaker 3: losing the Big Ten championship at that point. And in
- 55:23Speaker 3: the playoffs, I'm asking it's eleven and two good enough
- 55:27Speaker 3: to get the playoffs. Yes, eleven two is good the
- 55:29Speaker 3: playoffs and and losing the playoffs, You're right, that's fair
- 55:38Speaker 3: in my mind, Like, hello, Hunter, dumb questions. Hunter, of
- 55:43Speaker 3: course we're losing the playoffs. That's not.
- 55:49Speaker 2: I think your absolute worst case scenario is it's kind
- 55:53Speaker 2: of the same way often is four wins, that rules
- 55:56Speaker 2: fired the right sucks like everything goes as because because
- 56:01Speaker 2: you have one, two, three, I would say guaranteed wins.
- 56:08Speaker 2: So I don't think.
- 56:10Speaker 1: I don't know, Dak, you said actors eighty five percent.
- 56:12Speaker 2: That's not a guaranteed to win in your mind, it's
- 56:15Speaker 2: pretty that's pretty guaranteed. Because God, I don't think there's
- 56:20Speaker 2: any shot. I don't even have to go. I don't
- 56:24Speaker 2: know what would happen to get less than four wins
- 56:26Speaker 2: this season.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Okay, so, Dak, you said Matt Role gets fired. Do
- 56:29Speaker 1: you thinking mid season? If so win, does that occur
- 56:32Speaker 1: or are you thinking postseason? Under that scenario.
- 56:36Speaker 2: Post season, I don't think. I don't think you'll fire
- 56:39Speaker 2: him mid season, no matter what I mean, you have
- 56:41Speaker 2: to go. You have to have that happen, because I
- 56:47Speaker 2: just think it's a lot. It's it's pretty bad for
- 56:50Speaker 2: your programming. It's a fire coach mid season. I think, yeah,
- 56:55Speaker 2: So say you go, four wins, he's done at the
- 56:57Speaker 2: end of the year, right, all that transfers that worst
- 57:00Speaker 2: case scenario right there, your best it's the same as awesome.
- 57:05Speaker 2: You're going defeated at Penn State. You lose Penn State,
- 57:11Speaker 2: so ye, eleven and one make the playoffs. Let's say, look,
- 57:21Speaker 2: Nebrass makes the second round the playoffs? Is your best
- 57:24Speaker 2: case scenario? I think.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Who weve beaten in the first round.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Let's go Oklahoma.
- 57:38Speaker 1: I don't hope when you say Oklahoma.
- 57:40Speaker 2: That way Oklahoma?
- 57:42Speaker 1: Yeah, so you hadn't you think Nebraska is better than Oklahoma?
- 57:47Speaker 3: Yes?
- 57:48Speaker 2: Actually yes, Okay.
- 57:52Speaker 1: I guess you guys are on a very I'm not
- 57:56Speaker 1: going to get into stats turns where there's everybody knows
- 57:59Speaker 1: the bell curve, right, you know, the the thing that
- 58:02Speaker 1: goes looks like a bell, and there's a there's two
- 58:05Speaker 1: tail ends of low and high predictions. You guys are
- 58:10Speaker 1: a little more wider than mine of of what where
- 58:13Speaker 1: I was thinking here, But I think worst case scenario.
- 58:17Speaker 1: I'll say am with you. I do think we start
- 58:19Speaker 1: off two and two. I mean I could see it's
- 58:21Speaker 1: losing a Cincinnati game, Michigan game. Out of the next
- 58:25Speaker 1: group of four, I think we're winning three of those,
- 58:30Speaker 1: or are two of those one or two of those.
- 58:34Speaker 1: I think the last grouping there, I I don't think
- 58:37Speaker 1: we'd go h and four. We definitely could. I think
- 58:40Speaker 1: are six and five and seven is probably not bad,
- 58:46Speaker 1: But six and six I think is maybe more of
- 58:47Speaker 1: a realistic, kind of in my mind bad scenario. And
- 58:52Speaker 1: I think that could come with a couple of blowout
- 58:54Speaker 1: losses in there that could get scary, like Penn State.
- 58:57Speaker 1: But I do think for the most part, we're going
- 58:58Speaker 1: to begin every one of these games. I think Penn
- 59:02Speaker 1: State's in maybe, I mean, I don't know, maybe in
- 59:07Speaker 1: Michigan or USC. I think we're going to be in
- 59:09Speaker 1: every game. So that being said, could we lose all
- 59:13Speaker 1: of our close games again, Yeah, there's no reason we
- 59:16Speaker 1: we wouldn't because we just love doing that. So I
- 59:20Speaker 1: do think, you know, five and seven, six and six,
- 59:23Speaker 1: that ballpark worst case scenario. Gosh, if that happens, I
- 59:27Speaker 1: can't the rule firing things hard for me in my mind.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Would I want him to?
- 59:34Speaker 4: Yes?
- 59:35Speaker 1: Will we If we finished six and six but lose
- 59:37Speaker 1: a lot of close games that I don't know that
- 59:41Speaker 1: I'd say it's a fifty to fifty shot.
- 59:43Speaker 3: But I do and I don't think if I were
- 59:46Speaker 3: after six and six, Yeah, I think that's too much
- 59:48Speaker 3: money tight.
- 59:49Speaker 2: Hard you go six and six, you would want him
- 59:52Speaker 2: to be fired.
- 59:53Speaker 1: No, depending on how it went, maybe yeah, but we'll see.
- 59:58Speaker 1: I think I think if I think, if I don't know,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: there's just there's there's ways that could go. But yes,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I think there's a certain point in time where progress
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: and and momentum and all that stops. I think it's
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: less and less in today's environment every year. So that's
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: worst case. Obviously, I'm not much higher than that for
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: my realistic but best case scenario. I as much as
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: I'd want to say it could be eleven, I don't
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: think it is. I'm not as high on that either.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: I do think that, you know, we could start off
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: the year really really hot and going you know, six
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: and oh or seven and oh five and oh in there,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: I do think we trip up one of those games
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: at Maryland or at Minnesota. And I know, even for
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: a best case me thing, losing to Maryland's funny. But
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I just don't think we go I don't think we're
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: going to go nine and oh or ten to no
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: for sure, but we're losing somewhere in there, and maybe
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: even throw in USC loss or at UCLA. So I
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: think best case scenario, we're sitting, you know, eight and
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: two going into Penn State. Maybe nine in one, but
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: probably eight and two. I don't know that we're beating
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Penn State even under our best case scenario, but it'd
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: be great Iowa. I think we get that one then,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: so I have a you know, I'll say ten and two,
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: nine and three probably more of where I'm thinking that
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: gets us into a good bowl game. I don't think
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: nine and three gets you into the playoffs. Ten and
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: two probably does. It's gonna be very close. So depending
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: on again, where everything else is at in the Big ten,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: especially given our schedule. I don't think we're gonna get
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: any bonus points for having a tougher schedule, but how
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: you play in that Penn State game is gonna be big,
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: I think. I mean, if you compete with them in
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: Penn State happens to be eleven to zero or ten
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: and one, I think that shows a lot of people
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: know we're right there, and I think under the best
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: case scenario, we do. I don't think we go out
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: there and get blown out. Lastly, I had this pretty
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: shouldn't come back my head. This scenario, This wouldn't be funny.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: Wouldn't this be funny if this happened? And funny maybe
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: as an air quote word. We are ten and oh
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: nine and one best case scenario going into Penn State,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: you know, the year three rerual narrative. Everybody's just it's
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: the best thing ever. Right, We're Dylan Rayola is playing
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: out of his mind, you know, getting some Heisman talk.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: Things are going great, kind of like all of our
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: best case scenario. Penn State, let's say, is maybe not
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: doing as well. Maybe they're let's go, you know, seven
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: and three, heading into our game six and four, they've
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: been treading through mud. We go out to Penn State,
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: we beat him. Okay, we we get beat Iowa, go
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: to the playoffs, you know, maybe loose first round, or
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: we just missed the playoffs. Maybe because we're not you know,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: ten and two or something. We're very close. You know,
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: we're all all hyped up. James Franklin fired at Penn State.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Guess who's all the mons Penn State. Guess who's best
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: friends with the a d at Penn.
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: State praise during Big ten media days.
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: That's mister Matt Ruhle. So again, are all our Nebraska
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: fans right now like Matt Rules is the best coach
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: in the college football right now? No, But I think
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: if he did that and we're sitting, you know, eleven
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: and one after the year, everybody's gonna say Matt Rule
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: is the best thing ever, which I get myself included,
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I'd say, man, he knew how to he knows how
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: to do this, he knows how to rebuild programs. He
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: is great. But wouldn't it be funny if this all
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: happened and then Penn State poaches him and not only
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: poaches him, but brings everybody with him, including Ryola, maybe
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: even Dana Holgerson. I mean, for our scenario, it would
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: be nice to salvage Dacna maybe become our head coach,
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: but that probably would happen, more likely happened if that
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: did happen. But wouldn't it be funny if that happened
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: and then we basically have to reset, go back to
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: the groundbreaking and start over. But it's a fun scenario
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: to think about.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: The best case, Yes, because I mean, luckily, with the
- 1:04:17Speaker 3: expanded playoffs, there's a good chance that even if Penn
- 1:04:19Speaker 3: State were to lose to US, and in this hypothetical
- 1:04:22Speaker 3: scenario where we are ten and one or you know,
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: we go in, we beat Penn State, we have the
- 1:04:27Speaker 3: year eleven and one or whatever, and Penn State loses
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: to US. Realistic, they probably only lost one or two games,
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: so they're also in contention for playoffs. So you know,
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: it's like, do you fire your head coach after going
- 1:04:40Speaker 3: ten and two and bright the playoffs.
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: This scenario is basically saying Penn State struggles enough to
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: where they're upset with James Franklin and they go, you know,
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: they lose our game, can't win the big game, but
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: can't win. You know, they're eight and four, seven and five,
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: and they really had a down year. That's what that
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: scenario is. Because James Franklin, not that he's on the
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: hot seat, he's known and it's become more and more
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: cop that he can't win the big can't get over
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: the hump that Penn State fans want him to. So
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: something like that would probably set them over the edge. Now, Austin,
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: you're right, if they go ten and two, they're probably
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: not going to fire him. They could maybe, but I
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: doubt they will.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I don't think I think they might.
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: That would be dumb. I'd till you end up biting Nebraska.
- 1:05:25Speaker 3: You make one bed one dumb coaching firing.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Wisconsin tried switching all everything up. Yeah, we're going down
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: the blueprint. They actually got rid of their o C
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Phil long Goo and brought in a new guy who's
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: going back to more power run, which they caught it
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: a lot quicker than we did.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: All right, So here's let's make this prediction now. Come
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: twenty twenty six kickoff, will Matt will be the coach
- 1:05:53Speaker 2: in Nebraska?
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: Yes? Yes, But Dak, you bring that up. I think
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: this is something fun that we want to track and
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: talk about here and maybe even build some sort of
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: metric or graph or something based on how the season goes.
- 1:06:11Speaker 1: Right now, right now, I think you know you put
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: that on a on a confidence level, I would I
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: would give it a Well, that's where you're at. I'm
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: I would. I would give it like a sixty five
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: or seventy right now? Do you think I think he
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: will be? But I'm telling you, if we win six
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: games I think, or even seven, I don't maybe not
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: seven because people will say, oh, it's a step better
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: than last year. But if we go six and six
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: and lose our bowl game, I I'm I don't know.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I'll just say that I think I think that chance
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: is a lot better chance of happening back than Nebraska
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: loseing n Acron.
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I guess, I guess I did just say that
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Acron has a better shot of beating the Braskt than
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: that Matt real g Yeah.
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: So I think it is a fun conversation a track,
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: not that we again, not that we want him to
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: and not that we think even will, but I do
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: think that that that conversation could be had depending how
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: the season goes, or it could go the complete opposite way,
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: and he could be one of the best coaches in
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Nebraska since two thousand. As as just what's hard right now,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: you just don't know, given given how the season plays out.
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: It's year three, it's turning, it's it's show it MO
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: prove it. This is your program, this is your players
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: now from the portal and and the recruits. So it's
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: it's time. It's not it's now, and we have the
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: schedule to do it. It's not like our schedule is brutal.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Like I said, I even think it's considered easy. We have,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: we have a shot to do it. It could be
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: a good year, it could be Okay, we'll be back
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Thursday morning. We'll be doing more of an inn c
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: A a conference by conference quick preview. I'm talking about
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: some of the guys we already touched on it when
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: the Heisman, some favorites to make the playoffs. Talk about
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: some conferences that probably nobody cares about, but we'll give
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: it to you anyways. Jack's got the Mac all researched
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: and ready to go action. So all right, see you Thursday,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: go for grad.
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: You go be grad Track trip
