- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happened to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31So today we are talking about the fact that none of us are
- 0:34100% whatever we're focused on all the time.
- 0:40I mean, meaning that you're never 100% strong, you're never
- 0:44100% honest. Now, I know this is a very hard
- 0:48concept to take in because you think, no, I'm honest.
- 0:51But there are times if we're completely being honest with
- 0:55ourselves, that we do not always go and tell the truth.
- 0:58And we'll say things like, Oh yeah, I'd love to have dinner
- 1:02with you, but we really wouldn't.
- 1:03We just don't want to hurt the person's feelings.
- 1:06And The thing is, when we have this absolute in our head, like
- 1:09100% of the time I have to be at 100% it it's debilitating
- 1:15because it causes stress. So This is why we are having
- 1:18this conversation, talking about it because we none of us are
- 1:22100%. Now me being what I do and what
- 1:25I do, people often say, well, you're always on.
- 1:28No, I'm not. I'm not always on.
- 1:30And and I don't always manage my state the right way and I can
- 1:35lose my patience and my temper for sure.
- 1:38I can get frustrated for sure. Do I sit and cry?
- 1:42Yes. Do I have, I have moments where
- 1:44I'm overwhelmed with my creativity and I want to scream
- 1:47because there's so much of it going on in my head and I don't
- 1:51know how to manage it all and I can't capture it all and I can't
- 1:54even make it all happen? Yes.
- 1:56Do I walk out into this chicken coop and see all the things that
- 2:00I could do out here and all the things I want to create for them
- 2:04and get so frustrated that physically I can't do some of
- 2:07the stuff? Like I, I've got this whole
- 2:10entryway that I want to build coming into the coop to shade it
- 2:13so that they don't have that heat banging in on them in the
- 2:16summer. And I can't do it by myself.
- 2:18I can't, I can't pour holes and I can't put the the concrete in.
- 2:23I can't get up there and do I just physically I cannot do that
- 2:27work. And is that frustrating to me?
- 2:29You have no idea. And someone would say, well,
- 2:33you're positive all the time. No, I'm positive a great deal of
- 2:37the time. And if you asked me how often am
- 2:39I positive, I would say, you know, I'm, I'm good solid 85 to
- 2:4495% of the time I am solid, happy and focused.
- 2:50But 100% of the time, no way, no way.
- 2:52I might say it for an hour. I could pick that and and do it.
- 2:56But because we're human, it's a moving target.
- 2:59It's we all know it and when that's the whole size of the 72
- 3:03hour bus challenge. When you do it, when you if
- 3:06you're new and you don't know when you read the who's driving
- 3:08your bus book that I wrote in the back of the book, there's a
- 3:1172 hour challenge where you monitor your emotions for 72
- 3:14hours. And the point of this is to help
- 3:17you understand how rapid and crazy our emotions can be and
- 3:21how they go back and forth so quickly that it's debilitating
- 3:26because one minute you're fine and the next minute you're not.
- 3:28And that challenge lets you realize we there are nothing
- 3:32100% of the time. We're 100% human.
- 3:35That's what we are. And that means our emotions
- 3:38change like the wind. They, it, it's like that one
- 3:41minute there's little breeze. One minute there's no breeze.
- 3:43One minute it's like you feel like it's stagnant.
- 3:46The next minute you feel fresh air.
- 3:48That's just how it works in the world.
- 3:50That's just how it works in the world.
- 3:52So when you start to consider the 100% factor and we say,
- 3:57well, no, I'm 100% honest. I mean, come on, there's no way.
- 4:00I mean, I can tell you right now I'm not now, I'm not talking
- 4:04about in my profession when I'm talking to my clients because I
- 4:08have to really be honest with them.
- 4:10But I don't do it in a brutal way.
- 4:12But I am honest with them. And I can tell you that 98% of
- 4:17the time I am extremely honest with them.
- 4:20And there's always that little tiny bit where I have to soften
- 4:23it because they wouldn't. They're not ready to hear it,
- 4:26but I'm still giving them the truth now in the rest of my
- 4:31life. Well, you know, other times when
- 4:33I'm not, yes, 100% I'll tell somebody, oh, that's great,
- 4:39yummy food, whatever. And I'm like, it's, it's OK.
- 4:41I mean, it's not over the top, but I'm not going to hurt
- 4:44someone's feelings just to stick with a rule that might not be
- 4:48the best rule. So whatever it is, whatever it
- 4:52is, you have to look at it and say I'm even when I say I'm 100%
- 4:56committed, OK, to doing the jump rope.
- 4:59Anybody who follows me knows I've been doing the jump rope
- 5:01thing. OK, I am doing the jump rope
- 5:04thing, yes. Am I still working on it?
- 5:06Yes. Have I done it every single day?
- 5:08No. You know why?
- 5:10Because every single day my body hurts when I still do it.
- 5:14So I've been doing this since the beginning of the year.
- 5:16I don't trip anymore, but I still have not been doing it
- 5:19every single day. And I am getting better, but I'm
- 5:23still not there. So you see how this is 100% this
- 5:27rule 100% go think about it because it it causes us to have
- 5:32stress when we think we have to do that because we don't.
- 5:35All right, my friends, I hope you have a blessed day and I
- 5:38will see you tomorrow. Bye.
