- Lucas: Bienvenue tout le monde! Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna! Episode 130 — that's a lot of French, Lucas. I'm proud of us. Lucas: I'm proud of our listeners too. Today we're tackling a super useful real-world topic: going to the pharmacy. Luna: Ohh, that's a good one. I always panic when I need to buy medicine abroad. What's the first phrase? Lucas: Let's start simple. To ask for medicine for a headache, you say: Je voudrais un médicament pour le mal de tête. That's quite a mouthful. Mal de tête — headache, right? Lucas: Exactly. Okay, I think I can do that. Lucas: Perfect. Now what if you have a cold? Rhume — that's cold, like the sniffles? Got it. So that's for a cold. But what if I have allergies? Lucas: Good question. It's important to say if you're allergic to something. For example: Je suis allergique à la pénicilline. Luna: Je suis allergique à la pénicilline. Allergique — I hear 'allergic.' That's easy. Je suis allergique à la pénicilline. Lucas: Exactly. Now after the pharmacist gives you a medicine, you might want to know how often to take it. That's a long one. À quelle fréquence — how often? Dois-je — should I? Prendre — take. Ce médicament — this medicine. Lucas: You've got it. I'll practice that. And one more — is it prescription-only? Lucas: Yes! You can ask: C'est un médicament sur ordonnance? Luna: Sur ordonnance — on prescription. C'est un médicament sur ordonnance? Lucas: Right. So let's do a quick role-play. I'll be the pharmacist, you be the customer. Luna: Okay. Non? Bon, merci! Lucas: That was really good, Luna. You used all five phrases. I'm impressed. Luna: Thanks! It feels more natural when we practice like that. Hey, you know what? If today's episode helped someone feel more confident at the pharmacy, that's great. Lucas: Absolutely. And if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with French, and you want to support the show staying ad-free, there's a simple way. Let's say you need to buy something for a cough. Luna: Ooh, cough — la toux? So I can say: Est-ce que vous avez quelque chose pour la toux? Lucas: Exactly! See, you're already building on what you know. Luna: I love that — we can swap out le rhume for la toux. So versatile. Lucas: That's the beauty of these patterns. Now let's review all five phrases one more time. Luna: Okay. Lucas: Good. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready for your next trip to the pharmacy in France. Luna: I feel so much more prepared now. Thanks, Lucas. And thanks to all our listeners. Practice these phrases and you'll be fine. Lucas: That's all for today. Keep practicing, and we'll see you next time on Learn French with Fexingo. À bientôt!
