Transcript
- 0:00Hello my friends, happy new year.
- 0:02Happy 2026.
- 0:05I was not going to do an episode this week.
- 0:10And I even sent a message to my Patreon subscribers
- 0:14indicating as much, but...
- 0:16Now it's Friday and I started to feel guilty about not
- 0:21keeping up with my
- 0:24pledged to myself to release one episode every week.
- 0:28So, I'm going to release this episode this week.
- 0:31It's short, it's not going to be, well it's short so far, it may not be short.
- 0:36It will be short.
- 0:38So yeah, I was going to release a interview and interview this week.
- 0:48But having some issues getting the audio off of Riverside, which is that platform that I can
- 0:56complain about all the time, and which I will continue to complain about because
- 1:00it's garbage.
- 1:03It's garbage.
- 1:04No good.
- 1:05No bueno.
- 1:05I am going to start trying to use a new
- 1:09free platform to record a remote audio this year.
- 1:13So if that goes well, I'll be sure to
- 1:16say good things about it here on the podcast.
- 1:25Oh, January.
- 1:27January is the coolest month.
- 1:30I don't care what T.S. Eliot says.
- 1:33Does he say April?
- 1:36April is not the coolest month at all.
- 1:40April is actually usually a pretty good month.
- 1:43January, February, those are the cool months.
- 1:47So you heard it here.
- 1:50T.S. Eliot is full of it.
- 1:53I'm coming for you, T.S. Eliot.
- 1:57I'm coming for you.
- 1:58I have this coat.
- 2:06I got this winter coat, this puffer coat, about two years ago now.
- 2:11It has a very distinct coat.
- 2:14It's very like a retro vibe coat, very colorful.
- 2:18Has these stripes on it.
- 2:19I love it.
- 2:21But I have never owned a piece of clothing that gets as many compliments as this coat gets.
- 2:27And I don't mind getting compliments on my clothing.
- 2:31But I don't really know how to respond.
- 2:34Like if I say thank you, that's me saying, basically thank you for acknowledging my good taste.
- 2:40Which is weird to me, you know.
- 2:43Maybe it's not weird to most people, but it feels weird to me.
- 2:49It feels weird to say thank you.
- 2:50Maybe I sometimes say, yeah, I like it too.
- 2:53Because I didn't make it.
- 2:56So I just went online and saw it.
- 3:01And then searched for the lowest price and bought it.
- 3:05Actually my girlfriend at the time bought me a puffer coat for Christmas.
- 3:11But it was like this like boring gray puffer coat
- 3:19that was just complete, it's not my jam.
- 3:21So I exchanged it for this one that already compliments me on.
- 3:28And I used to say that she got it for me, but then she broke up with me.
- 3:34So now I just say it's mine.
- 3:35I bought it myself.
- 3:36Because even when I said that she bought it for me,
- 3:39and maybe this should have been an indication that she was about to break up with me.
- 3:43But she would say, when we were together and I would say,
- 3:46oh, she bought it for me, she'd say, well, no, he picked it out.
- 3:48So.
- 3:51So yeah, I was at the UPS store dropping off.
- 3:58They returned for Amazon in the, when buying the counter said,
- 4:01I love your coat.
- 4:03I'm so jealous of it.
- 4:05Which is a lot jealousy of my coat.
- 4:08I didn't expect that this morning.
- 4:09But you know, it's nice to have a piece of clothing
- 4:15that someone else is jealous of, I guess.
- 4:17I guess.
- 4:20No, it is.
- 4:22Anyway, January's horrible.
- 4:29I'm already feeling like the low level,
- 4:35like depression and misery that kind of sets in this time of year when the,
- 4:41here's the thing, you know, because I would like to be,
- 4:44I would like to choose, I don't mind snow, right?
- 4:47But I want to choose when I interact with snow.
- 4:50I don't want to be, I don't want it to be forced upon me, you know.
- 4:54I don't want to have to interact with it.
- 4:57I want to be like, oh, I'm going to go skiing this week.
- 4:59So I will interact with snow.
- 5:01But here in Ohio, I am forced to interact with snow.
- 5:06I have been forced to interact with snow for every winter of the last seven years.
- 5:10I've been back.
- 5:10And I'm over it.
- 5:12I'm over interacting with the snow.
- 5:14I'm over interacting with the cold.
- 5:15I'm over putting on my very fashionable puffer coat.
- 5:21And I won't miss the compliments.
- 5:25I will not.
- 5:26Because I think that I have decided that in about two months,
- 5:34I'm going to move to Mexico City for about six months,
- 5:39which is the length of a tourist visa.
- 5:43So that works out.
- 5:45And just see how it goes.
- 5:47I'm going to sell a lot of my stuff here or at least try to.
- 5:52And just kind of end my seven years of life here, seven plus years of life here in Columbus, Ohio.
- 6:05In the only way that I really can figure out how to right now.
- 6:11I thought about this, like, how, where do I go?
- 6:14I've got to get out of this house, as I've said.
- 6:15Like this landlord situation is not tenable.
- 6:18And like, I could sign another lease for another, you know, 12 months, but I don't want to be in Columbus that long.
- 6:27So where else do I go?
- 6:30I don't know.
- 6:30I really don't know.
- 6:33Where have I been that I've liked in the last year?
- 6:37Mexico City.
- 6:40So I'll go there.
- 6:43It's also much cheaper than living in the United States, which United States has gotten very expensive.
- 6:51Like, unaffordable really.
- 6:53For me anyway, of course, I'm unemployed, but, you know, it ain't cheap.
- 6:59Particularly healthcare.
- 7:04It's ridiculous how bad it's gotten.
- 7:05So,
- 7:06so I think that's what I'm going to do.
- 7:10And hopefully it works out.
- 7:11And if it doesn't, it doesn't.
- 7:13But I feel like I'm stagnating in my life right now.
- 7:17And I think that I need to take a big leap, you know, like a big jump.
- 7:23Do something crazy and see where I land.
- 7:27Because it'll all be okay in the end.
- 7:31Like it's all going to be fine.
- 7:32Everything will work itself out.
- 7:39I would just rather everything was fine in an exciting way
- 7:43than everything being fine while I sit here and like waste away in my house here.
- 7:50And avoid the snow in my house and spend what $150 a month on heating bills.
- 8:02I mean, it's ridiculous.
- 8:03It's ridiculous.
- 8:04So,
- 8:04that's what I'm going to do.
- 8:07That's the, that's an exciting announcement.
- 8:09Bonus episode announcement of the day of Friday, January 2nd.
- 8:18And again, we're about 80% likelihood of that happening.
- 8:23But I think it is going to happen.
- 8:27And I'm going to give my notice to my landlord at the beginning of February.
- 8:31Because if I give it to him now, he's going to be a lunatic.
- 8:38For two months.
- 8:39But if I give it to him at the beginning of February, he'll only be a lunatic for one month.
- 8:45Yeah.
- 8:49Next week I will be back.
- 8:54I have a bunch of episodes, interviews, recorded in the can,
- 9:01is it were that are not stuck on river sides.
- 9:03So, starting next week and the week after and the week after,
- 9:07I will be back to regular episodes.
- 9:10Whatever that means to you.
- 9:12Well, it means that they're going to be interviews with people, interesting people.
- 9:18So, yeah, for the two people who did reach out on Instagram
- 9:22a couple of weeks ago asking if the episode this week would be a interview.
- 9:29First off, thank you for reaching out.
- 9:31I really do appreciate the engagement.
- 9:34But I apologized that my response was in retrospect a lie.
- 9:40I didn't realize.
- 9:43I thought I was going to have an interview this week, but
- 9:46Riverside has screwed me again.
- 9:52I said that weird.
- 9:55Screwed me again like that.
- 9:56There you go.
- 9:57Riverside.
- 10:04I don't know that anybody I know likes Riverside.
- 10:05And I don't understand why they can't get their shit together,
- 10:12but I'm not going to continue to talk about it because to give them more time
- 10:15on my podcast is to give them more time because bad press is good press as we all know.
- 10:20Anyway, so as a result of this decision that I've 80% made, I am
- 10:31overwhelmed a little bit. You know, also a little bit
- 10:36wistful to be leaving Columbus and the friends that I've met here.
- 10:41A little anxious about all the things
- 10:45excited for sure because I mean the reason I'm doing it is to keep things exciting
- 10:52is to get out of the old comfort zone where all the fun stuff happens.
- 10:57But the other side of getting out of the comfort zone is that it is outside of your comfort zone.
- 11:08So prepare for some discomfort.
- 11:13But discomfort is often better than boredom.
- 11:18Something like that. Who knows?
- 11:21But there's a lot of emotions happening and I'm sure a lot more will happen.
- 11:25And if any of you are listening in the Columbus area and are looking to buy things that I might have,
- 11:32which are a lot of things I've got a selling electric piano, selling a PlayStation 4,
- 11:38selling a table. Anyway,
- 11:41hit me up, onefjfpod@gmail.com or just text me if you know my number.
- 11:48I was reading that the 2026 in the Chinese Zodiac is the year of the horse.
- 11:55The
- 11:58fire horse actually, but we can disregard the fire part for now and just run with horse.
- 12:05The year of the horse and the year of the horse apparently represents action over reflection,
- 12:16movement, momentum, independence, brave risks and big changes.
- 12:22So yeah, giddy up.
- 12:26I'll see you next week.
- 12:29Very good, Jeffrey.
