- 2:00I just want to say thank you for joining me tonight. I am
- 2:04going to be talking about parenting and family because it has changed over the years.
- 2:10I remember when growing up, you know, we will go down the
- 2:16neighborhoods and everybody you know was family. You know you could trust people,
- 2:24and you can leave your children home and go to work with your grandparents and
- 2:29cousins, and you know, family can watch your children and you can just
- 2:35be free. But family has changed, parenting has changed. So before we
- 2:42go on more detailed, Lord Lee and got me and what you want me
- 2:46to say and all things and everything, And I'm going to start off with
- 2:52Ephyesians chapter five, Verse twenty one. Be subject to one another out of
- 2:58reverence for Christ. Wives be subject to your husbands as to the Lord.
- 3:04For the husband is the head of the wife, as Christ is the head
- 3:07of the church, his body and is himself is savior. As the church
- 3:15is subject to Christ. So let wives also be subject and everything to their
- 3:20husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave
- 3:25himself up for her that he might sanctify her. Having cleansed her by washing
- 3:31of the water with the word, that he might present the Church to himself
- 3:38in splendor, without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, that she
- 3:43might be holy and without blemish. Even so, husbands should love their wives
- 3:50as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. For no
- 3:54man ever hates his own flesh, not nourish and cherish it, as Christ
- 4:00does the Church, because we are members of the body. For this reason,
- 4:05a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife,
- 4:12and the two shall become one flesh. This mystery is a profound one,
- 4:16and I am saying that it refers to Christ in the church. However,
- 4:21let each of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife
- 4:27see that she respects her husband. Let me tell you the family has broke
- 4:33down so many kinds of ways. You know. First of all, we
- 4:40don't have the support of family like we used to. You know, now
- 4:45Grandma has to work. Everybody has to work just to survive. So you
- 4:48can't leave your children home with family members. Now you have to find people
- 4:58that you have to trust. You know, they can be your friends or
- 5:03a complete stranger. And you have to leave your children with these people.
- 5:10So family has broke down so much. It used to be a time where
- 5:15the women will stay home and watch the children while the husband work. But
- 5:20then that the fathers were disappearing from the home. And we can blame the
- 5:28government for that too, because they put you know, they help with that
- 5:31too. When we went through the warfare era, you know what I'm saying,
- 5:40where you was not allowed to have men in the house. So that
- 5:44was a breakdown. So there was so many breakdowns, and now the family
- 5:48has changed. The family is no longer like how it used to be.
- 5:55And then we think it's strange when we see ten, fifteen, twenty people
- 6:00in one house working together, we think that's strange. But if we just
- 6:03be honest, wouldn't that be wonderful we could just get along. Wouldn't that
- 6:10just be awesome? If we could just work together, you know, put
- 6:14our money together as a family. Pay that house off, then go get
- 6:18another house, pay that house off, then go get another house and pay
- 6:23that off. I mean, that's what family is supposed to be, right,
- 6:26We're supposed to be working together. But family has just broke down to
- 6:32a lot of stuff, and we just I just want to be here to
- 6:38encourage parents and encourage family because family has changed over the years. So I
- 6:45had went to this website and it talked about the different things, how family
- 6:50has changed, how parenting has changed. And number one, they said that
- 6:57a lot of couples now they are getting married, but now they are decided
- 7:02not to have children. And it's like wow, like wait, why but
- 7:09they just enjoying life. I can you know, I can see that when
- 7:13you're in your twenties, you enjoying life, but you don't want any children.
- 7:16But they you know, they did a study and that's what a lot
- 7:20of people are doing it just traveling. And then number two is that more
- 7:25parents are I'm married but living together. And it's all the kind of reasons
- 7:31why they're doing that. Some because you know, you get more money when
- 7:39it comes to when you do your Texas, you know, and if you
- 7:43say you single, you know he can get his refund check, you get
- 7:46your refund check. And you know, and then too, a lot of
- 7:50people don't want have commitment. You know, it's easy to say, you
- 7:56know what, I can leave because I'm not married to you deuce you know,
- 7:59you know what people do, they leave and so that has changed.
- 8:07So a lot of people say, you know, I don't want to get
- 8:11married. And then another point they said it said new parents have video monitors
- 8:16to watch their kids, and so I was thinking about that. You know,
- 8:22when we was growing up, we didn't have all this technology. You
- 8:26know, when the child got quiet, we ran room to make sure they
- 8:30was still alive. But now you get all this new technology. You don't
- 8:35even have to be in the same room with your children. You can monitor
- 8:39them in the next room. Also, what I love now there are some
- 8:46schools now you're gonna actually look in the classroom see how your children are doing.
- 8:50So that's good for parents because I am a helicopter parent. I'm gonna
- 8:54tell you that right now. And a lot of people say, what is
- 8:56a helicopter parent. Helicopter parent is I want to know what's going on my
- 9:01child at all times. Yah know, I don't want to hear, well,
- 9:07your child's all right. Okay, you said my child's all right?
- 9:09Tell me how is my child is alright? You know, I am one
- 9:13of those parents that when my children were small, I was at the school.
- 9:18Oh here she come again, yep, here I come again. That's
- 9:22right. I'm here because you got to understand I want to know what's going
- 9:28on in my child's like what are you teaching or you teaching them something that
- 9:33I'm not teaching at home. And a lot of times it's okay to be
- 9:39a helicopter parent, but some takeing go overboard, because I seen some parents
- 9:43go overboard, and I just prayed that I wasn't one of those people who
- 9:46were overboord. But I will tell you I am a helicopter parent. But
- 9:52you But let me tell you something. Parents, it's okay to get involved
- 9:58in your children's schools. Why because there's a lot going on. There's a
- 10:05lot going on. I remember parents was allowed to go sit in a classroom.
- 10:09But now some schools they act like, oh my god, here they
- 10:13come. So what if you are allowed to sit in the classroom, Go
- 10:20sit in the classroom, pay attention to what is being taught, and look
- 10:26at the walls. What does that teacher have on the wall. Because that's
- 10:31your child, that's your baby. You have that right to see what's going
- 10:37on, to see what they putting in your child because you have to train
- 10:41your child up to a good citizen. That's right. Families are different,
- 10:48and you have to accept the family for who they are and love on them.
- 10:56So as parents, we have to learn how to just love on each
- 11:00other. And said, girl, I got you. You know you need
- 11:03a babysitter. I got you. But a lot of us don't want to
- 11:07step in. We don't want to step in anymore because through I think,
- 11:15like the early two thousands, the early two thousands, we went through a
- 11:20stage where when you would say something to people's children, Oh, my goodness,
- 11:26don't be talking to my child. Don't be correcting my child. And
- 11:30he's like dad because when I was growing up, the neighbors was able to
- 11:33correct and if somebody saw me doing something wrong, Girl, you better stop.
- 11:39Don't you do that. That's not good for you. Now you stop.
- 11:43But now we can't even say anything to anybody's children. You know,
- 11:48you just supposed to just look and be quiet. Well, I was blessed
- 11:54with the eye. I was blessed with the eye. Hear me, And
- 12:03let me tell you, I just take my glasses off and I just look
- 12:07at the child. When I see the child doing so, I just stare
- 12:09at him. And I know when I was teaching in the classroom, the
- 12:13students will say, missus Lucas stopped. It's like you're staring through my soul.
- 12:18You're looking through my soul. Yeah, I want you to stop because
- 12:22your behavior is unacceptable. And I'm reading author Halloween Black Diamonds. She said,
- 12:30that's right. When I put my children daycare, I wanted two kay
- 12:35is the director's license plate numbers, social security number and the mother's social security
- 12:39right, because that's how I was. I'm a helicopter, helicopter parent.
- 12:46I just want to know everything because my child's safety is in your hands and
- 12:52I want to make sure that when I drop my baby off, I'm going
- 12:54to pick them up in the afternoon. So you know, it has and
- 13:01parents have to think more now. And I'm praying for y'all. My children
- 13:05grown, my children grown, hallelujah, thank you Jesus. What but I'm
- 13:11praying for parents now. And then also on this list, it said parents
- 13:18can now tell the sex of their baby prior to birth. And this is
- 13:24a wonderful thing. You know what you're gonna have. I'm gonna have a
- 13:28boy. What you're gonna have, I'm gonna have a girl. Then you
- 13:31can get prepared to buy all the little boy's clothes and girl clothes and get
- 13:35all, you know, happy, and then you can think of different names
- 13:39that you're gonna name the child, and you know, you get excited,
- 13:43you know, and now you got to reveal the Jenner revealed play. I
- 13:48mean parties and all that stuff. You know, it's fun to do that.
- 13:52And I went to some parties like that. It's fun the guests.
- 13:56You know, who's right, Is it gonna be a boy or girl?
- 14:00And you know how we do. We look at people's stomach or if it's
- 14:03just uphishs this, if it sit down low is this? You know how
- 14:07we do. But we're here to encourage mothers. Were here to encourage fathers.
- 14:13Be in your children, live love on your children. Don't allow the
- 14:20government or anybody else to dislike your children. Because there's so much stress in
- 14:26the world. It's just so much stress that I see the parents to stress
- 14:33out and they like, I don't know what to do. That's when you
- 14:39go to these PTA meetings and you learn the different parents, and you learn
- 14:43who you can trust and who you can't trust, and you form a coalition.
- 14:50Y'all get together and say let's have you know, mother's night out.
- 14:54Father's night out and you get together one per and watch the children. Way
- 15:01y'all go, and why the rest of y'all go out, Well, you
- 15:03gotta do some self care parents. Why because that stress is a lot on
- 15:11a parent. It's stressful trying to make sure your children are safe, but
- 15:16it's extra stressful when you don't take care of yourself. So parents, take
- 15:20care of yourself and get groups and learn how to work together, work with
- 15:28each other, and love on each other and be there for each other.
- 15:33And then another point they said, they said, now you got different families
- 15:39where it's same sex and it's the child treated right. Oh my god,
- 15:48you know that's against the Bible. Is they raising the children right? That's
- 15:54my concern? Or the children safe or they love? That's my concern because
- 16:07these children are These children are our future. They you know, when we
- 16:12get old, who's gonna take care of us? Because some of us,
- 16:15if our children don't take care of us, we're gonna have to go in
- 16:18to nursing home. Who gonna take care of us? These children that we
- 16:22raising? So I want to know all the children being raised safe with a
- 16:29clear mind, not being tortured. So we you know, we get caught
- 16:37up in who raising the children. I just want to know all they safe,
- 16:42all they love. Then another point, it says, now it has
- 16:51reversed where a lot of women are going to work and men are staying home
- 16:56taking care of the children. I love it. You know, sometimes people
- 17:02try to make men feel bad. But I remember when Daddy Daycare came out
- 17:07and I just laugh. I love that video, Daddy Daycare. It showed
- 17:14men being compassion and sometimes we think men don't have compassion, but they do.
- 17:22There are a lot of men out here that love their children, that
- 17:26don't mind spending time with their children. They have fun with their children.
- 17:30When I watch TikTok and I see all these men taking care of their children
- 17:34and taking care of their babies, it brings me joy because it's all right
- 17:40to be a man and love on your children. You don't have to,
- 17:45you know, get caught up in this world to tell you you're not a
- 17:48man you take care of your children. You're more of a man when you
- 17:52do take care of your children. So, single men who raising your children
- 17:56by yourself, keep on raising those children and loving on them and being there
- 18:04for them. Then you got another point, they said, Now more families
- 18:12are working more, yes, because the cost of living has went up.
- 18:18And I'm telling you a lot of these children, Blessing Little Heart, are
- 18:26raising themselves. They call them the leatch key children where they're watching TV and
- 18:30the TV is raising them. And if you can set your television to a
- 18:38point where they don't, you know, they're not watching all this crazy stuff
- 18:45and going in their system and their spirit. Do that because if you know
- 18:51that your children are going to watch TV, make sure they're watching something positive
- 18:56because everything that they see goes inside brain and guess what they acted out everywhere
- 19:03they go. You'd be like, where that, y'all? Why that child
- 19:07ain't like that? They saw something on television and they acting it out.
- 19:10So be careful what your children watch. You know, be careful what your
- 19:17children watch because they will imitate. They imitate you, and they imitate what
- 19:22they see. But it's okay, hollowed to put restrictions on the children,
- 19:29and it's okay to say no parents. I know some parents be like,
- 19:33I don't want to say no to my baby. That's my baby. But
- 19:37you know what, your baby will survive if you tell them no, They
- 19:41will survive. It's okay. They will live another day. No, you
- 19:47cannot have that, and no, you cannot go over there. I remember
- 19:51when my brother because I raised my siblings, and I remember my brother.
- 19:55He's about eleven or twelve years old. He wanted to go over his friend's
- 19:59house and I said, no, you can't go over there. He said,
- 20:02oh, you so mean? You did you that? And I said,
- 20:06first of all, I don't know who those people are. I never
- 20:08met them, so you can't go over there. Now, when I meet
- 20:11the parents, then you can go over there, but until then, it's
- 20:15no. And within four or five days later, on the news the same
- 20:22area, he wanted to go another boy one of his friend house and lost
- 20:27his life. And I looked at my brother and I said, this is
- 20:33the reason why I said no, because, like I said, I have
- 20:37to meet the other parent. I cannot just let you go anywhere because that's
- 20:41my friend. No, as a parent, it's okay to say no.
- 20:47It's okay to say no, you can't go over your cousin's house. But
- 20:51that's my cousin. But you don't know your cousin like I know your cousin.
- 20:55It's okay to say no to the ice cream cookie is in a candy.
- 21:00It's okay to say no. Sometimes as parents, you know, our
- 21:06children try to make us feel bad because we say no. But it's okay
- 21:10because we know the other end. Hallelujah. We probably already experience it and
- 21:17we know better than them, So it's okay to say no. And don't
- 21:22you know, I've seen parents cry because they ain't want to tell that girl
- 21:26bad boy. You better tell that child no. You're raising that child.
- 21:32That child's not raising you. You already been through the storm. You already
- 21:37been through the rain. You have experiences. You're trying to prevent your children
- 21:41from going through those experiences. So yeah, go ahead and say no.
- 21:45It's okay. And then on this list it say a lot of parents are
- 21:49not speaking their children anymore. Guess what, we don't have to be our
- 21:53children like our parents be us. We could just talk to our children.
- 21:59Oh yeah, you gotta know how to talk to them. You gotta say,
- 22:03you know, this is the cause and the fact the reason why you
- 22:06can't do this and do that because and this the fact, because there are
- 22:11some children you just look at them. Then there are some children you gotta
- 22:15put them time out. And then there are some children, you gotta talk
- 22:17to them. We don't have to beat or trining upside their head like our
- 22:22parents did. Our parents did what they knew. You know, so we
- 22:29know better. And when you know better, you do better, right,
- 22:34and it's okay. It's okay parents, And then parents, you know,
- 22:41when it comes to homework, if you don't know it, don't feel bad
- 22:45because you don't know it. Because when I was teaching, and I was
- 22:49teaching first grade, I ain't know that math. I said, Lord Jesus,
- 22:53I'm a professional in math, this new math. And I went to
- 22:59the principale, I said, how are supposed to teach your math that I
- 23:02don't I can't even comprehend it. How they're supposed to comprehend it? Like
- 23:06this is ridiculous. Y'all changing the rules and changing them. So it's okay.
- 23:11Parents if you don't. If you can't help your children with their homework,
- 23:15guess what you got YouTube? Go to YouTube. Type in whatever that
- 23:22lesson is, typing in. Somebody on YouTube knows how to do that homework
- 23:27and watch your over and over again til you get it. Because I had
- 23:32to do that because I was, like, I'm supposed to be teaching this.
- 23:34I can't comprehend it. So it's okay to use YouTube. Parents.
- 23:41Yeah, whatever you have to get or use to help you to better and
- 23:48help your children do that. Don't let anybody shame you. You know,
- 23:52we're living in a time where social media is everywhere and syper bullians everywhere,
- 23:59and people try to shame parents. Oh, you should do this. Don't
- 24:03let anybody shame you. Hallelujah. If you're doing the best you can,
- 24:10do the best you can with what you know. And if you don't know
- 24:14something, look it up, get a book, get YouTube. Now you
- 24:18can go TikTok, you go to any social media and look it up.
- 24:22Somebody out there has already experienced what you have experienced, what you're going through,
- 24:29and it's okay, it's okay, so go ahead and look it up
- 24:33and learn from that. And you don't have to be a shamed. You
- 24:40don't have to be a shamed at all. And then they said they said
- 24:47that when it comes to grandparents raising grandkids, that is true. More grandparents
- 24:56are raising their grandchildren because of so many awful things that have happened to this
- 25:06country. I would go into detail, but then I'll go on a tangrum,
- 25:11and I don't want to go on a tangrum today because today is to
- 25:15encourage parents and family. Glory be to God. But I'm telling you,
- 25:26we just need to support our grandparents because they already did the job. They
- 25:30raised their children. Now they gotta raise their grandchildren. So if you see
- 25:34a grandparent raising their grandchildren, batting some flowers, take them out, love
- 25:44on them, get them a hug, wave at them and say I see
- 25:48you, do you need anything? I'm here for you. Support them because
- 25:56when you become a grandparent, that's your time to lay back with your feed
- 26:00up. You know what I'm saying. That's your time, your time to
- 26:03lay back, put your feet up and rest. But no, they can't
- 26:07even do that because they have to raise their grandchildren. So support them,
- 26:11be there for them and say I got you what you need, I got
- 26:17you. Be there for them. And now a lot of parents now,
- 26:25even though they have to take care of their children, guess what they got
- 26:27to take care of the adult parents. So families have changed over the years.
- 26:33Things have changed over the years. But it's okay if we just learn
- 26:38how to just be there for each other, help one another, and don't
- 26:48judge the family, because like I read in Ephesians, the family supposed to
- 26:52be with a husband a wife, support each other. But guess what,
- 26:57that support is not for everybody anymore because the families have changed, and so
- 27:06we have to deal with We have to deal with and support people and be
- 27:11there for them. Pro Verse twenty two, verse six says, train up
- 27:18a child in the way he should go, and when he is old,
- 27:21he will not he will not depart from it. So train your child up,
- 27:26and that's right. For terrees. It does take a village. It
- 27:30takes all of us to be there. You see a child running the street,
- 27:36Hey baby, get over here, sweetheart, come on, get out
- 27:41the street now that parents might cush you out, because you know, that's
- 27:44what kind of this kind of time we're living in, because you know,
- 27:48people don't want you to say anything to their children. But don't sit there
- 27:52and just don't say anything. And if Physians chapter six, verse one says,
- 27:59children, your parents and the Lord for this is right, honor your
- 28:03father and mother, which is the first commandment, with a promise, so
- 28:07that it may go well with you, that you may enjoy long life on
- 28:11the earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children unto wrath. Instead,
- 28:18bring them up into training and instruction of the Lord. Train them up,
- 28:23how love on them, show them what true love is. Be there for
- 28:29them. If they ask you to help them with homework, be honest,
- 28:32three hearted. I want to help you, but I don't know how to
- 28:34do that. Let's learn together. Let's do this. Let's go to the
- 28:40library. Let's ask the librarian to help us. But be honest with your
