Standard Sunday School Lesson - August 30, 2026 - Lydia, The Generous Hostess
Standard Sunday School Lesson
Lydia, a successful businesswoman and dealer in purple cloth from the city of Thyatira, becomes the first person on European soil to receive the gospel in Acts chapter 16. As a god-fearer, God opened her heart when Paul spoke at the riverside in Philippi, and she responded immediately and boldly.
Her generosity as a hostess transformed her home into the founding pillar of the first church in Europe. This week's Standard Sunday School lesson review explores Lydia, the generous hostess, and what her faith-driven actions teach us today.
