- 0:16Speaker 2: Very sover here with politics, very good afternoon, Good afternoon. Right,
- 0:19Speaker 2: terrible about what's happening in Sydney, obviously, isn't it.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Well, it's shocking and you know we've all been through
- 0:25Speaker 3: that in this country. When you think back to the
- 0:27Speaker 3: Moss killings when fifty one people were killed, I remember
- 0:31Speaker 3: feeling honestly speechless. In your Australian correspondent said that he
- 0:36Speaker 3: felt really emotional talking about it. It's just awful that
- 0:40Speaker 3: you something like this can happen in a country like
- 0:44Speaker 3: Australia and like New Zealand. And of course the perpetrator
- 0:48Speaker 3: of the New Zealand Moss shooting wasn't Australian Brenton Tarrant.
- 0:52Speaker 3: But that you can't make you can't play politics with
- 0:56Speaker 3: this game. Even though Chloe Swarbrick has been singled out
- 1:00Speaker 3: by a number of people because of her statements, but
- 1:03Speaker 3: look like us all. It was the shaken Prime Minister
- 1:07Speaker 3: who spoke to journalist afternoon.
- 1:09Speaker 4: Terrorism and hate have no place in our societies. Violence
- 1:12Speaker 4: of any kind is unacceptable, whether it is targeted at
- 1:15Speaker 4: people of Jewish or any other faith. We all need
- 1:19Speaker 4: to call out in tolerance when we see it. There
- 1:21Speaker 4: is room in this world for everyone to live side
- 1:24Speaker 4: by side at peace. At this stage, we have no
- 1:27Speaker 4: indication that any New Zealanders have been injured in the attack,
- 1:30Speaker 4: so let's all continue to look after each other, especially
- 1:32Speaker 4: our Australian and our Jewish friends. At this time, You're
- 1:35Speaker 4: shocked and appalled to think that something like that could
- 1:37Speaker 4: happen in a place where so much fun typically takes place.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And I have to be honest, as I watched those
- 1:42Speaker 4: images late last night, you know, into the early hours
- 1:45Speaker 4: of this morning, you know it's really sickening, and you
- 1:47Speaker 4: know your thoughts immediately go to the families of loved
- 1:50Speaker 4: ones who lost someone yesterday. You think about the people
- 1:52Speaker 4: that are fighting for their lives in hospital right now.
- 1:55Speaker 4: There are incredible stories again first responders, but also incredible
- 1:58Speaker 4: stories of just people in the local community coming down
- 2:01Speaker 4: onto the beach and helping where they could and can.
- 2:03Speaker 3: And that amazing man that came to undisarmed.
- 2:07Speaker 2: One of the gun shob owner. I'm incredible.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I can't I can't even envisage that a father and
- 2:14Speaker 3: son would be how could you go?
- 2:18Speaker 2: No, exactly. The first thing you think is of their
- 2:20Speaker 2: parents will be absolutely ashamed, and then you realize the
- 2:23Speaker 2: dead's in honors. Just hey, Bear's got the hypho tomorrow
- 2:27Speaker 2: the Supers we pushed out again.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yes it will be. That'll be the third time it's
- 2:32Speaker 3: been pushed out. But no doubt Nikola Willis will have
- 2:35Speaker 3: a good argument for it, unless actually does have a
- 2:37Speaker 3: good argument for it, because the debate.
- 2:41Speaker 2: Is it happening?
- 2:42Speaker 3: What has happened? Well, I'm mary on board now, I
- 2:46Speaker 3: know I texted, I've texted the Taxpayers Union today say
- 2:50Speaker 3: well who's moderating? Where is it at?
- 2:52Speaker 1: What?
- 2:53Speaker 3: And I've heard anything now, But look, I think it.
- 2:56Speaker 3: I think it will be on Thursday, because that's certainly
- 2:59Speaker 3: the last word from Nikola Willis on it. But that debate.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Luxon says he understands why Nikola Willis wants to put
- 3:06Speaker 3: up the government's case against former National Finance Minister Ruth Richardson.
- 3:11Speaker 4: I think it is important that she feels she can
- 3:13Speaker 4: defend the record of this government and the approach of
- 3:15Speaker 4: this government and what we're doing. I think you would
- 3:17Speaker 4: have seen last week you know, we had major RMA reform.
- 3:19Speaker 4: I think there was well understood that it was well
- 3:20Speaker 4: supported across the country. This week we've got Haifu. Tomorrow,
- 3:24Speaker 4: on Thursday, we'll have the GDP growth numbers. Why. I
- 3:26Speaker 4: think what's important is that for most of these islanders,
- 3:28Speaker 4: they really focused on Christmas, focus on Christmas shopping, and
- 3:31Speaker 4: they need to know that actually we're going into Christmas
- 3:33Speaker 4: with the economy building and with good momentum.
- 3:35Speaker 3: See, there's always a positive to all these things.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Ryan, nothing positive at your house apparently.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Oh else, thank you for bringing that up. What it
- 3:43Speaker 3: is a domestic dispute, and I want to take this
- 3:46Speaker 3: opportunity actually to tell you the real story about something
- 3:50Speaker 3: my other have said on the Breakfast show this morning
- 3:53Speaker 3: about the debate. Have a listen to Heather and I'll
- 3:56Speaker 3: give you the real story.
- 3:57Speaker 5: I'm here for this debate. But this debate between Nichola
- 3:59Speaker 5: and Ruth is getting more and more ridiculous by the
- 4:01Speaker 5: day because I don't know if you've heard what the
- 4:03Speaker 5: latest is, but there is for one hot minute, they
- 4:06Speaker 5: thought that the moderator should be Winston. Apparently this idea
- 4:09Speaker 5: has emanated from within my household Nicola texts me last night.
- 4:13Speaker 5: She said it was Barry's idea. So apparently Barry Soaper
- 4:15Speaker 5: came up with the idea that Winston should be the
- 4:17Speaker 5: moderator and then pitched it to Nichola's office, and then
- 4:20Speaker 5: nicholas office were like, hmm, thank the good Lord. Winston
- 4:24Speaker 5: is otherwise occupied and will not be doing it because
- 4:26Speaker 5: I'll tell you there's no chance that you would get
- 4:29Speaker 5: to hear anything from Nichola or Ruth. It would just
- 4:31Speaker 5: be the Winston show talking about I don't know, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 5: the evils of capital. I can't that, No thanks, I
- 4:36Speaker 5: want to hear from the ladies anyway. Barry can defend himself.
- 4:39Speaker 5: I think it's a terrible idea. I'm not allowed to
- 4:40Speaker 5: say that. I'm not allowed to tell him anymore like
- 4:42Speaker 5: his off limits in the house. I'm not allowed to
- 4:44Speaker 5: say your idea sucks. So I just say it on
- 4:46Speaker 5: the radio to you and then he can defend it
- 4:48Speaker 5: later on. We just have we just have that, like,
- 4:51Speaker 5: just have a fight through you base.
- 4:52Speaker 1: That's how.
- 4:55Speaker 3: Gearry. It's all out there.
- 4:58Speaker 2: I hate to get in the middle of this, but
- 5:00Speaker 2: I think that that may have come from me on Friday,
- 5:03Speaker 2: afternoon because I said that you were you were getting
- 5:06Speaker 2: Winston involved.
- 5:07Speaker 3: No, well, thank you very much. Right, Well, you know
- 5:11Speaker 3: I can home and finish the argument in that case.
- 5:14Speaker 3: But the thing is that it wasn't me that suggested
- 5:16Speaker 3: that Winston might be the moderator of the debate. In fact,
- 5:20Speaker 3: it was the Taxpayer Union itself. You were just talking then.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Like a good journalist, I went to Winstein and said,
- 5:28Speaker 3: would you do it? And he said yes, probably, Nicola Willis.
- 5:32Speaker 2: I've mudded the waters. I said, you were orchestrating the
- 5:35Speaker 2: whole thing.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Thanks right, I'm leaving. I've had enough.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Get go home to hear there and explain yourself.
