- 1:11this. A few people say, well, why isn't the show heard on
- 1:15other channels of your podcast If it's on the one Leg Up feature, then
- 1:21why isn't it, By the way, I'm on the l RR doing this
- 1:23at Garrett on the go, right, why isn't it on the Alex Adapting
- 1:30feature or the Alex Sports feature one Leg Up on Sports or One Leg Up
- 1:34on Adapting? And that is a mighty fig question. So from now on,
- 1:38I'm gonna treat this podcast like a radio dial. If you don't hear
- 1:42it on this channel, go up the dial or down the dial on Spotify
- 1:47or however you want to do it to One Leg Up on Adapting or One
- 1:51Leg Up on Sports. You'll find it there also. And basically it's also
- 1:57just growing it all together. I know, maybe if you look at certain
- 2:00feeds, it looks like I'm double posting it, and I hate looking like
- 2:05that. But at the same time, some people may not be able to
- 2:07find a show, even mister Acquittal has his own channel, but I like
- 2:13to also double post it here on the one Leg Up feature as well.
- 2:16So if you do want to know more about the adapting side, go to
- 2:21the Adapting with Alex Garrett One Leg Up feature, the One Leg Up on
- 2:24Sports with Alex Scarett. Fature We're on Spotify. iHeartRadio Apple podcasts, and
- 2:30this is the main bit I'm talking on right now, So continue to follow
- 2:32this one as I'll make sure every podcast we do, no matter what the
- 2:37feature is, gets podcasted here as well. Now, one thing I've not
- 2:43had the chance to do is talk about the incredible time we had at Saint
- 2:46John the Divine honoring my dad on Easter Sunday, honoring the fact that he
- 2:52Christ has risen. And as I mentioned, Easter Sunday morning, I felt
- 2:57that Dad's spirit will be everlasting. That is the point of Easter Sunday,
- 3:01that life is everlasting. And for my dad, Paul Winter it took time
- 3:08to see us and that was so special and my mom got this interaction with
- 3:16Paul Winter, the music director and the just incredible musician. He is filling
- 3:28the halls of Saint John the Divine every year. Now keep in mind this
- 3:31was from last year to start out, when Paul actually wished my dad a
- 3:36happy Easter, even though we couldn't make it, Paul made sure to make
- 3:42my dad's presence included while he was at Suny down State Hospital. Hey John,
- 3:51it's Paul here. We miss seeing you so we want you to be
- 3:53back here next year for our annual reunion photo and I wish you well and
- 3:59I hope to see us soon. All the best, brother Big Huggson hap
- 4:01Easter, thank you so much. I don't make his name. And so
- 4:04this eas year, we unfortunately had to break the news to Paul that,
- 4:08you know, my dad had passed. But it is true that when I
- 4:13played Paul's message stand last year, he lit up. And I told Paul
- 4:17that this past Sunday, take a listen to that, because I got that
- 4:21busy, I got that audience like light. Oh. So it was emotional.
- 4:32It was incredible to you keep the faith going that my dad had instilled
- 4:38in me, and my mom did too. You know, Saint John the
- 4:40Divine is a place where my mom and dad prayed for the seventy seven days
- 4:45I was in the n queue right across the street at Saint Luke's Hospital.
- 4:48So for them to instilled in me at a very early age, and the
- 4:54belief and the faith in me, and here we are thirty two plus years
- 4:59later, and the faith continues even while my dad watches from upstairs. Then
- 5:05later an it was great to have Gabby with us up there as well,
- 5:09including her in the first Easter with her as a fiance up at Saint John
- 5:14the Divine. That was special. But but now I come back and all
- 5:23of a sudden, I realize there's an article on yet to Read Read that
- 5:29was left behind for me to read, and it was from Vivek from the
- 5:33Swami. Now, Vivek wrote this last year and I'm going to post it
- 5:40in my description below, But it's about faith in the US. Are we
- 5:46losing it in ourselves? And he talked about ways we could build it up.
- 5:55Man on a day we just finished a very faith based full day of
- 6:01Easter, to find this article proves that it's not a long way to go
- 6:06instilling faith in our country again, we really do And I think, to
- 6:13me, the way we do that, and I'll tell you what he says,
- 6:19but the way we do that is not so much of the polls.
- 6:24Yes, November is gonna be huge, Yes it's a presidential election. But
- 6:28we've got to instill faith in our country by instilling faith in ourselves, by
- 6:33being better towards each other in communities and neighborhoods and protecting one another. So
- 6:44when I see homeowners fighting against squatters, And when I see other homeowners rallying
- 6:48around those who are trying to bend their homes, that gives me hope that
- 6:54there are people that don't want to take this nonsense anymore. So I believe
- 6:58that, yes, there is a huge swath of faith that still exists.
- 7:01Just go to Saint John the Divine on Easter. But the faith in ourselves,
- 7:10the faith in our country can use work. You know, if the
- 7:13vec around was swimming in his article said that the military is in a twenty
- 7:17five percent drop in enrollment, and I can correlate that too well. Is
- 7:24there also faith in our Do the cops have enough faith in our those in
- 7:30power to make the right decisions for them? Because if they don't, moral
- 7:34will will turn it in their badges. That's just the reality we're dealing with.
- 7:42That's just the reality we're dealing with. So if those are don't want
- 7:47to go into service because they have no faith that their government's doing right by
- 7:50them. Image on a local level, when you don't have a police department,
- 7:55that's faith in what those we're supposed to be supporting them are not.
- 8:00I mean, if I can get on the street with twenty one priors kill
- 8:03officer now detective custhumously Diller and kl just shows up expecting to be welcome there.
- 8:13It's no wonder if the family asked her to leave is wouldn't you say?
- 8:18It's no wonder that the rate of resignation in the force is increasing because
- 8:28there's no faith in those who are in charge right now. Little and so
- 8:35I look at the twenty five percent drop that Martin Mswamy talked about, don't
- 8:39and I correlate that too well. On a very local level. We're seeing
- 8:43that here and we'll continue to see that here if we don't watch it,
- 8:48if the leaders of our state especially don't watch it. Simply, but the
- 9:03correlation of losing faith in America is very much so correlating to losing faith in
- 9:09our own cities. Even justice system that bail reform is so easy, I
- 9:16called it bail decorm So restoring faith in our city and state is restoring faith
- 9:24and returning to a system that doesn't let a twenty one priorrest criminal back down
- 9:31on the streets with ease? Would you agree? And by the way,
- 9:35as I'm recording this on the train, a four point eight earthquake hit New
- 9:39York City in the triced area originating from Lebanon, New Jersey, after shots
- 9:45and tremors felt across the Trisity area, building shaken in New York City and
- 9:52then from Philly upwards. Really, so, I hope you're doing okay as
- 9:56you're listening to this podcast. Hope the rest of your day's been a little
- 10:01more grounded, if you will. Luckily, I was on the train.
- 10:05I did not feel anything. That's I was been on this train with you,
- 10:09talking to you on the Alex Garratt podcast network. But yeah, I
- 10:13encourage you to read the DEVICTI from the Swami piece about the USA needly gained
- 10:18faith in itself. It is from last year. It's so worth it.
- 10:22And and I hope after Easter we can restore faith in our own country,
- 10:31and the city can restore faith in it's cops, and this cops faith can
- 10:37be restored as well. That's all I gotta say now. On the Alex
- 10:41gart podcast networks a bit later today, Joe Murphy on lyft driving and how
- 10:46he's encountered so many different people over the years. This earthquake, by the
- 10:50way, ranging from Boston to Philadelphia, So be safe out there. It
- 10:54has been quite a day, you know. It's another thing we're gonna have
- 10:58to get through and survive and process, and I just pray that those in
- 11:07those buildings are okay. My fiance Gabby told me her chair was moving,
- 11:11and I want to he's It wasn't even on That's how powerful earthquake was.
- 11:16But that's it. From my l R edition of the Alex Garrett podcast net
- 11:18work, Garrett on the Golf. We'll talk to you soon on one Leg Up.
