- 0:01Speaker 2: Why is this Lindsay. Hi Lindsay, This is Gab and
- 0:05Speaker 2: Amanda on Big ninety eight point seven. How are you
- 0:07Speaker 2: doing this morning?
- 0:08Speaker 1: I'm good.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Are you doing good? Do you have a second to
- 0:11Speaker 2: chat with us on the radio?
- 0:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 0:13Speaker 2: The reason we wanted to talk to you today is
- 0:16Speaker 2: because your friend Angela had reached out to us and said,
- 0:19Speaker 2: not only Lindsay, are you one strong woman who just
- 0:22Speaker 2: turned forty, but you have really been going through it.
- 0:25Speaker 2: You've got a couple of kids. Can you kind of
- 0:28Speaker 2: share what's been going on. I know it's not always easy,
- 0:30Speaker 2: but we would love to know.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah. I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer stage
- 0:38Speaker 1: three back in March of twenty twenty three. So I
- 0:42Speaker 1: just turned thirty nine, and I went to we'll see.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I went to like six months of chemo. I did
- 0:49Speaker 1: a double eseectomies, and then I did thirty days of radiation.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Oh gosh, you you don't know all the things that
- 0:58Speaker 2: you're successed to do.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yep, I did it all. Plus I did six
- 1:03Speaker 1: months of an oral chemo therapy. It's just to make
- 1:06Speaker 1: sure that any lingering cells were taken care of as well.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And I finished that in August this summer, I did.
- 1:14Speaker 2: And at that moment, is that when you were able
- 1:17Speaker 2: to ring the bell hoping that your cancer free.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Yep. I rang the bell September sixth. I was kind
- 1:22Speaker 1: of hesitant to do it. I mean, you can ring
- 1:24Speaker 1: the bells whenever you want throughout your treatment, but I
- 1:27Speaker 1: just hadn't felt confident enough to do it until I
- 1:30Speaker 1: knew I was completely done with all my treatment. So
- 1:33Speaker 1: I rang the bell September sixth. And then not even
- 1:36Speaker 1: like two months later, I started getting to some symptoms
- 1:39Speaker 1: that were coming up that weren't that weren't normal, So
- 1:42Speaker 1: I brought them up to my oncologists and we started
- 1:45Speaker 1: running a bunch of tests. And then just this November,
- 1:48Speaker 1: actually a couple of weeks stories I got to call
- 1:50Speaker 1: that it had spread to my my liver, my limps
- 1:54Speaker 1: outside of my just my lymph nodes like beside my
- 1:57Speaker 1: armpit lymph nodes, and then two possibly my cervice as well.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, Lindsey.
- 2:05Speaker 1: So I haven't heard a treatment yet. I've heard treatment tomorrow,
- 2:08Speaker 1: which is I'm looking forward to so hopefully relieve some
- 2:13Speaker 1: of the pain I have. But yeah, and now it's
- 2:17Speaker 1: we're at the point where it's I won't ever be
- 2:19Speaker 1: cured from it, but the goal is to stop it
- 2:23Speaker 1: from progressing, or you know, keeping it at bay.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I guess absolutely. And at forty years old, you're just
- 2:30Speaker 2: too young to be going through this first and foremost.
- 2:33Speaker 2: But you do have two kids. How old are they?
- 2:36Speaker 1: Yep, Brody is eighteen and then Stella is twelve.
- 2:41Speaker 2: I can hear it in your voice. I know that
- 2:43Speaker 2: you're trying to be so strong right now, because that's
- 2:46Speaker 2: what moms do. Right Yes, but I'm sure it's really scary,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and this journey is when you think that chapter's closing
- 2:54Speaker 2: and you're opening it back up. It's got to be
- 2:55Speaker 2: real tough.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it is. It's scary. You know. You just want
- 3:02Speaker 1: to be your clear kids, and it's the possibility that
- 3:06Speaker 1: you might not. So it's just a whole lot of
- 3:08Speaker 1: emotions and things to think about. It's overwhelming, it.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Really is, and there's so many unknowns. But you are
- 3:16Speaker 2: so strong, you've already done this, and I know it
- 3:20Speaker 2: probably feels like gosh. Everybody can tell you to stay strong.
- 3:23Speaker 2: You're a fighter, You're going through it. But there's got
- 3:25Speaker 2: to be those moments that you physically are not only weak,
- 3:28Speaker 2: but it's it's got to be really challenging with doctor
- 3:32Speaker 2: Bill's the holidays, I mean, just a rollercoaster of emotions.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Yes, especially right now. It's like, you know, this will
- 3:38Speaker 1: happen before Thanksgiving and I've been in and out of
- 3:41Speaker 1: the hospital and then now Christmas is coming up. It's
- 3:43Speaker 1: just like not the ideal time to get this kind
- 3:46Speaker 1: of news, or you know, not the time that you
- 3:49Speaker 1: want because you want to be celebrating other stuff and
- 3:52Speaker 1: you know, spending time with your family and stuff, and
- 3:54Speaker 1: instead you're spending more time with your cancer team.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Well, and they do, they become your family. And I'm
- 4:01Speaker 2: sure you have an amazing support system, but when you're
- 4:04Speaker 2: talking about what you should be doing, one of the
- 4:06Speaker 2: things we want to relieve thanks to your friend Angela,
- 4:10Speaker 2: she went to Big nine eighty seven dot com and
- 4:12Speaker 2: she nominated you for a Big ninety eight point seven
- 4:14Speaker 2: Christmas wish and on behalf of Gateway Chevrolet and Heartland
- 4:19Speaker 2: Chevy Dealers, we want to write you a check for
- 4:21Speaker 2: one thousand dollars and that is simply just for you
- 4:24Speaker 2: to spend that however you want through the holidays and
- 4:26Speaker 2: hopefully bring a little light to you and your family
- 4:29Speaker 2: and just to ease a little bit of that stress.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Well, well, thank you. That means a lot.
- 4:36Speaker 2: You're so welcome and I wish we could do more,
- 4:38Speaker 2: but please know that we are thinking about you and
- 4:41Speaker 2: your family and thank you. We appreciate you sharing your story.
- 4:45Speaker 2: I know it's not easy.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Well, thank you, I appreciate it. This will very much
