School Near Motorway Exit in Cork
Kids at Watergrasshill National School in North Cork are facing serious safety risks as over 3,000 cars daily race off a nearby M8 motorway slip road—many speeding to avoid tolls. Councillor Sheila OCallaghan warns the speeds are “awful,” and while a pedestrian crossing with lights exists, it’s not a speed bump and only slows traffic when red. Cork County Council engineers are now monitoring speeds and considering speed signs or other measures to alert drivers—and will report back soon to keep those students safe.
