- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up, everyone, and welcome back to the program. In
- 0:03Speaker 1: this episode, we're going to pick up where we left
- 0:05Speaker 1: off with the expert reports in regard to Brian Koberger.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Number 37. Stain 26 on the half wall of the
- 0:14Speaker 1: second floor living room at the end of the beer
- 0:16Speaker 1: pong table is depicted in image DSC 4886 and DSC 4685. A.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Stain 26 was tested for the presumptive presence of blood
- 0:28Speaker 1: and was positive. Stain 26 is diluted cast-off with associated
- 0:33Speaker 1: flow stains. 1. Cast-off is created when blood is released
- 0:37Speaker 1: as a result of a bloodied object in motion. 2.
- 0:40Speaker 1: The appearance of the blood stains reveal that the blood
- 0:43Speaker 1: has been diluted by another fluid. 3. Flow stains as
- 0:47Speaker 1: demonstrated in Stain 26 result from gravitational attraction. C. Additional
- 0:54Speaker 1: testing on Stain 26 shows the presence of a mixture
- 0:58Speaker 1: of DNA. 1. Kaylee Gonsalves matches the major component. 2.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Madison Mogan is a potential contributor to the minor component. D.
- 1:10Speaker 1: There was no physical evidence to indicate that Kaylee Gonsalves
- 1:13Speaker 1: or Madison Mogan was in this location after sustaining their
- 1:16Speaker 1: bloodletting injuries. 38. Stains V and W represent an area
- 1:22Speaker 1: of staining on the half wall in the second living room.
- 1:26Speaker 1: This area represents is west of stain 26. Note the
- 1:29Speaker 1: label stain 5 indicates a hair. A. Stains V and
- 1:33Speaker 1: W were tested for the presumptive presence of blood and
- 1:36Speaker 1: were positive. B. Stains V and W represent a second
- 1:41Speaker 1: area of diluted cast-off stains with associated flow. 1. Cast-off
- 1:47Speaker 1: is created when blood is released as a result of
- 1:50Speaker 1: a bloodied object in motion. 2. The appearance of the
- 1:52Speaker 1: blood stains reveal that the blood has been diluted by
- 1:56Speaker 1: another liquid. 3. The flow patterns are the result of
- 2:00Speaker 1: gravitational attraction. See, there is no physical evidence to indicate
- 2:04Speaker 1: that Ms. Gonsalves, Ms. Mogan, Ms. Kernodel, or Mr. Chapin
- 2:08Speaker 1: were in this location after sustaining their bloodletting injuries. Hallway
- 2:13Speaker 1: leading to the bedroom of Zanna Kernodel. Image DSC 4704
- 2:17Speaker 1: depicts the stains identified on the baseboards in the hallway
- 2:21Speaker 1: between the living room area on the second level floor
- 2:25Speaker 1: and the bedroom assigned to Zanna Kernodel. On the left
- 2:28Speaker 1: side of the hallway are stains G and H, and
- 2:31Speaker 1: on the right side of the hallway is stain I.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Stain I can also be seen in DSC 4873 above.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Stain G is depicted in closer detail in image DSC 4699.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Stain H is depicted in closer detail in image DSC 4703.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Stain I is depicted in closer detail in image DSC 4712. A.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Stains G, H, and I. were tested for presumptive presence
- 3:00Speaker 1: of blood and were positive. B. The physical appearance of
- 3:04Speaker 1: stain G, H, and I is consistent with diluted blood.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Diluted blood is the result of intermixing blood with another liquid. C.
- 3:12Speaker 1: There is no physical evidence to indicate that Ms. Gonsalves, Ms. Mogan, Ms. Carnotel,
- 3:16Speaker 1: or Mr. Chapin were in this location after sustaining their
- 3:20Speaker 1: bloodletting injuries. 40. Stain 38. is depicted in images DSC
- 3:25Speaker 1: 4438 near the bathroom doorway on the left side of
- 3:28Speaker 1: the hallway between the living room area and the bedroom
- 3:31Speaker 1: assigned to Santa Cronodal. Stain 38 is depicted in closer
- 3:35Speaker 1: detail in image DSC 4439. A. Presumptive testing for the
- 3:42Speaker 1: presence of blood was negative. 41. Stain 28 is depicted
- 3:46Speaker 1: in In image DSC-4443, and in closer detail in image DSC-4445,
- 3:54Speaker 1: on the north side of the hallway, between the living
- 3:57Speaker 1: room and bedroom of Xanakir Nodal. A. Stain 28 gave
- 4:02Speaker 1: a positive presumptive test for blood. B. Stain 28 is
- 4:05Speaker 1: a swipe stain. C. Stain 28 appears dark in color
- 4:10Speaker 1: and not diluted. 1. An undiluted swipe stain indicates that
- 4:14Speaker 1: a bloodied object surface made contact with this wall. While
- 4:18Speaker 1: in motion, the bedroom of Zanna Kernodle. 42. ISP 4719
- 4:24Speaker 1: shows an overview of the bedroom assigned to Zanna Kernodle. A. Ms.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Kernodle is lying on the bedroom floor. She's wearing a
- 4:31Speaker 1: pair of underwear, a long-sleeved shirt, and is barefoot. B.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Ethan Chapin is lying on the bed partially covered with
- 4:40Speaker 1: blue blanket and pink comforter. He can be seen wearing
- 4:44Speaker 1: a pair of white socks. 43. Image ISP 4708, cropped,
- 4:49Speaker 1: shows blood on the bottom of the feet of Zanna Kernodel. A.
- 4:53Speaker 1: This observation indicates that Zanna Kernodel was moving about and
- 4:57Speaker 1: stepping into liquid blood after bloodletting injuries had occurred. B.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Although there is physical evidence to support that Ms. Kernodel
- 5:05Speaker 1: was moving about within her bedroom, there is no physical
- 5:08Speaker 1: evidence to indicate that she ever moved beyond this room
- 5:11Speaker 1: once she was bleeding heavily. 44. The bottoms and tops
- 5:15Speaker 1: of the socks of Ethan are depicted in ISP 4719
- 5:20Speaker 1: cropped and ISP 4933. A. No blood is visible on
- 5:25Speaker 1: either the bottoms or tops of his socks. B. This
- 5:28Speaker 1: observation supports that he was not moving about and dripping
- 5:31Speaker 1: blood or stepping into blood after liquid blood was shed. 45.
- 5:38Speaker 1: A projected pattern indicated by yellow arrow is visible on
- 5:41Speaker 1: the bedroom wall in the vicinity of the head of
- 5:43Speaker 1: Ethan Chapin in image ISP 4933. Mr. Chapin's head is
- 5:49Speaker 1: between the edge of the mattress and the wall. The
- 5:52Speaker 1: projected pattern is more readily visible in image DSC 4513. A.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Damage to an artery can lead to production of an
- 6:00Speaker 1: arterial projected pattern. B. According to the autopsy report related
- 6:06Speaker 1: to the post-mortem examination of Ethan Chapin, he suffered injuries
- 6:10Speaker 1: to his left subclavian vein and artery. 46. Image ISP
- 6:17Speaker 1: 4935 shows an overview of the positioning of Ethan Chapin
- 6:21Speaker 1: and the relationship between the projected arterial pattern on the
- 6:24Speaker 1: wall and the location of the injured left subclavian vein
- 6:28Speaker 1: and artery described in the autopsy report. The subclavian artery
- 6:32Speaker 1: lies just below the collarbone, the clavicle, on each side
- 6:35Speaker 1: of the body. A. Saturation. Staining is located on the
- 6:40Speaker 1: lower corner of the pillow under his left shoulder and
- 6:42Speaker 1: on the sheet underneath each pillow. B. Saturation. A swipe
- 6:45Speaker 1: stain is located on his left side. C. Transfer stains
- 6:49Speaker 1: are located on Chapin's 1. Left chest, left shoulder, left
- 6:53Speaker 1: upper arm. 2. Top and bottom surfaces of his left
- 6:57Speaker 1: upper wrist. D. Transfer stains and saturation stains are located
- 7:02Speaker 1: on the 1. Blue blanket lying across his torso and
- 7:05Speaker 1: upper legs. 2. Bottom sheet under and along his right side. 47.
- 7:11Speaker 1: ISP 4935 cropped shows a closer view of Ethan Chapin's
- 7:15Speaker 1: upper body and neck. A. Heavy flow stains originating in
- 7:18Speaker 1: the region of his left clavicle and flowing towards the
- 7:22Speaker 1: right side of his body are visible. These flows then
- 7:25Speaker 1: change directionality and flow down the right arm and towards
- 7:29Speaker 1: the elbow, indicated by the yellow arrow. B. His right
- 7:33Speaker 1: shoulder has a transfer stain on the uppermost portion of
- 7:35Speaker 1: the shoulder and flow stains traveling towards the elbow, indicating
- 7:39Speaker 1: the by the white arrows. C. The antecubital fossa of
- 7:44Speaker 1: the right arm and the right armpit is void of
- 7:46Speaker 1: staining indicated by the orange arrows. These voids are the
- 7:50Speaker 1: result of these areas being shielded or protected from blood
- 7:54Speaker 1: stains as the projected blood was created. A second area
- 7:58Speaker 1: of projected staining is located below the antecubital fossa on
- 8:02Speaker 1: the upper portion of the right forearm indicated by a
- 8:05Speaker 1: green arrow. E. These observations indicate that Ethan Chapin was
- 8:10Speaker 1: on his right elbow when his left subclavian artery was injured.
- 8:14Speaker 1: This positioning created a void at his right armpit as
- 8:18Speaker 1: blood flow began to emanate from the wound. Blood flows
- 8:21Speaker 1: towards the right neck and down his upper right arm,
- 8:25Speaker 1: resulting in the void at the folded right antecubital fossa.
- 8:29Speaker 1: As he falls towards his right, the flow patterns change
- 8:32Speaker 1: directionality accordingly and directional spatters from the injured subclavian artery
- 8:38Speaker 1: strike his face. 48. Spatters Showing directionality are visible on
- 8:43Speaker 1: the left cheek of Ethan Chapin. These spatters were created
- 8:47Speaker 1: due to the injured subclavian vein and artery. A flow
- 8:51Speaker 1: pattern originating from the area of his neck continues across
- 8:54Speaker 1: the chin, across the left cheek, and culminates above his
- 8:58Speaker 1: right brow. Another flow travels around the bottom of the
- 9:02Speaker 1: left nostril onto the tip of the nose. No expiration
- 9:06Speaker 1: of blood is visible at the nostrils. 49. Voided areas
- 9:11Speaker 1: are visible on the wall, besides the bed, after the
- 9:14Speaker 1: body of Ethan Chapin was moved. DSC 4515. A. These
- 9:19Speaker 1: voids were created due to Mr. Chapin's head and hair
- 9:22Speaker 1: shielding the wall from projected arterial blood originating from his
- 9:26Speaker 1: injured left subclavian artery. His head was down near the
- 9:30Speaker 1: wall while the arterial pattern on the wall was created. 50.
- 9:35Speaker 1: An incision is located at the lateral right leg slightly
- 9:38Speaker 1: above the knee. A. Saturation staining on the bottom sheet
- 9:42Speaker 1: is associated with this injury. B. Spatter stains are located
- 9:46Speaker 1: on the top of the right knee. C. A second
- 9:49Speaker 1: injury below this incision is visible when his leg was
- 9:52Speaker 1: rolled medially. 51. ISP 4948 shows the location of an
- 9:56Speaker 1: incision visible at Ethan Chapin's upper left leg. A. This
- 10:03Speaker 1: incision is not visible in image ISP 4933, which depicts
- 10:08Speaker 1: his body prior to removal of the blanket and comforter. B.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Saturation stains are noted on the pink comforter in image
- 10:15Speaker 1: ISP 4933. C. The blue blanket and or pink comforter
- 10:20Speaker 1: was placed on top of the incision to the left
- 10:23Speaker 1: leg after the incision was inflicted. 52. ISP 4950 depicts
- 10:30Speaker 1: the incision of the left upper leg of Ethan Chapin.
- 10:33Speaker 1: A small amount of saturation staining is noted on the
- 10:36Speaker 1: bed sheet at the level of the incision. A. Spatters
- 10:40Speaker 1: are located forward of the saturation stains. B. Transfers are
- 10:44Speaker 1: noted on the left leg above the incision. All right, folks,
- 10:47Speaker 1: we're going to wrap up right there. And in the
- 10:49Speaker 1: next episode, dealing with the topic, we're going to pick
- 10:51Speaker 1: up with 53. Zanna Kernodle was discovered lying on the floor.
- 10:56Speaker 1: All the information that goes with this episode can be
