- 0:01Hey, y'all, welcome today's show. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's
- 0:05Day weekend. It's now Monday and a beautiful, warm day in May.
- 0:12I can't complain about that, certainly. I wanted to mention one thing where
- 0:15we get into today's show. You know, from Mother's Day. I got
- 0:20my mother a few things. She loves strawberries. I got her several pounds
- 0:23of strawberries, some wine she likes. I cooked her a few meals,
- 0:25you know, that kind of thing. But the thing that I got her,
- 0:28it was almost an afterthought that seemed to really have pleased her more than
- 0:33any gift I've ever given her, was a bottle of blessed oil from the
- 0:38Association of the Miraculous Metal. I highly recommend this as a gift or for
- 0:44yourself. Beautiful glass bottle with a miraculous metal on it. It's been blessed
- 0:50by a priest, and it is a relic, a secondary relic of Saint
- 0:57Saint Catherine, is a labora. My French pronunciation is horrible, even though
- 1:02my heritage is about a third French. But anyway, beautiful, absolutely and
- 1:08seems to well, it's quite efficacious. We both use the oil and it.
- 1:15You know, she's also the patron saint of the elderly and infirm.
- 1:19Elderly and infirm, let me try to enunciate now, and she she was
- 1:26having a little nerve pain, it went away. I was having some allergy
- 1:32type issues with my lungs. They seem to improve immediately. So I think,
- 1:37if you have an elderly person in your life, if you have a
- 1:40sick person in your life, if you just need something for yourself, and
- 1:44of course you know, blessed oils are very repulsive to demonic forces and such
- 1:52very good to have. And the Association of the Miraculous Metals fantastic. You
- 1:56know, they send free Miraculous medals to people, and I mean that's really
- 2:00important and a great place for you to donate money too. Remember last show
- 2:06I said don't give any money to Catholic charities. Well, Association for the
- 2:09Miraculous Medal is really good and they have regular special masses where they will remember
- 2:17you and your intentions as well. They'll do that for free. You don't
- 2:22have to donate any money to them, but I think they're very well worth
- 2:25supporting. Another one I really like is the arch Confraternity of the Holy Face
- 2:30of Jesus. Fantastic. They're in France. I think it's the Saint Martin
- 2:38Saint Martin's anyway, they're the ones who run it. And the Holy Face
- 2:44of Jesus is a very important prayer. Our Lord said if we venerate His
- 2:49Holy Face and pray that the Golden Arrow of prayer and the Litany of the
- 2:53Holy Face on Sundays and Holy Days, that it would help defeat communism and
- 2:59atheism and blasphemy. And we really need that in our world today. There's
- 3:05another really great brown scapular charity. I will try to get that information for
- 3:08you next time. Nice quality brown scapulars and for like just a few bucks,
- 3:16I'll send you, like, I don't know ten or something. I
- 3:19mean, it's really good, you know. Scapular is a wonderful devotion,
- 3:24goes back to our Lady of Mount Carmel, and it's nice to have something
- 3:29to give to friends and family. So anyway, I think oh. I
- 3:34also wanted to mention another good one, which is Hands Together for Haiti.
- 3:38That's Father Hagen's charity where he actually works one on one with the absolute poorest
- 3:43of the Haitian people. He's feeding starving people and caring for the sick and
- 3:47educating children. And got to meet Father Hagen a few years ago, and
- 3:54he's very close with Christ. I'm telling you, the very gentleman with the
- 4:01eyes that you know, you just know they just kind of glow that spirit.
- 4:05And you know, as I come across other good Catholic charities, I
- 4:11will share them with you. You know. I do a little writing from
- 4:13Missy O Day. Missy O Day is a very good online Catholic publication.
- 4:19You know, they try to raise a little money from time to time for
- 4:23pro life causes and such, and maybe take a look at that. But
- 4:27anyway, I want to get in today's show. In my book, Confirmation
- 4:33and Autobiography of Faith, after somewhat briefly, I mean, and maybe about
- 4:40fifty pages giving my own conversion story, I really spend a lot of time
- 4:45on basic apologetics, basic defense of Catholic doctrine, and teaching, mainly mostly
- 4:51using the Bible itself and the writings of the early Church fathers. And really
- 4:58so much when we debate eight or when we discuss with our Protestant brothers and
- 5:02sisters, comes down to the issue of authority we know from whence the authority
- 5:09of the Catholic Church comes. Jesus nownted the Catholic Church. He said to
- 5:14Saint Peter, thou Art Peter, meaning the Rock. He actually said,
- 5:17Cephus, because he spoke Aramaic. If you ever get into a debate with
- 5:21a Protestant that they may kind of try to pull out that old canard off.
- 5:25Wait a minute. The rock in it was Petras. That is feminine.
- 5:30It couldn't be applied to Peter. It was a man. Actually,
- 5:35he said Cephas because he spoke Aramaic, and in Aramaic you don't have that
- 5:41gender issue. And it's actually far more clear that it was not a role
- 5:46it was. It was he was actually saying, and it's not it could
- 5:48not be applied to Saint Peter's faith, which we know at that point was
- 5:53a little if. He actually he actually said, you Simon bar Jonah,
- 6:00you Simon's son of Jonah, are now the rock. And upon this rock
- 6:08I found my church. He said, the gates of Hell will not profell
- 6:11against it. He said, those who hear you, hear me. Those
- 6:15who refuse to listen to me, refuse the one who sent me. I'll
- 6:20get the right quote here in a minute. I mean little bumfuzzled. I
- 6:24should say my tongues getting twisted or something. But anyway, I've done a
- 6:28lot of reading and writing today, and yeah, you know, your mind
- 6:32can get tired if you write a lot. But anyway, we know the
- 6:39authority of our church. God himself says that the Catholic Church speaks with the
- 6:46authority of God himself. Those who hear you hear me, the gates of
- 6:51Hell will not profell against it. The Catholic Church is protected from all error
- 6:56in matters of faith and doctrine in its teachings. And I mean all Protestants
- 7:02mostly, I guess, I mean all what would you say, mainstream all
- 7:09traditional Protestants believe that the Apostles were prevented from any error when they wrote the
- 7:14books of the New Testament. I guess some of them think they were only
- 7:20had that terrorism or that gift when writing the Bible, which makes absolutely no
- 7:27sense because Jesus commanded them and guaranteed ensured they're teaching against error. So let's
- 7:36deal with the issue of authority. You know, authority was a very difficult
- 7:43aspect for me to accept when I began learning about Catholicism, my upbring,
- 7:47my childhood, family issues and such. I was a bit of a rebel,
- 7:55you might say, but you know, it really is the central issue
- 8:00of doctrine. Essentially, if if I say to you something right, if
- 8:05I tell you something I'm saying, I'm giving you my word. I'm telling
- 8:09you the truth. If you believe in me, you can believe what I'm
- 8:13saying. If you think I'm a liar, you won't believe anything I say.
- 8:18When we look at by what authority one teaches, especially in the name
- 8:22of God, it really does all hinge on that. If you believe the
- 8:31apostles, you can believe the Bible. And if you don't, if you
- 8:37don't believe the apostles of Christ were writing in honestly what happened, you can't
- 8:43believe the Bible. You have no foundation for your Christianity. And if you
- 8:48believe in those apostles, you really should believe in the Early Church. The
- 8:56DK which is, you know, the Teachings of the Twelve is what it's
- 9:00called the first Manual of Christian belief in worship, written even before the Bible
- 9:05was finished. Saint John had not even written probably his Gospel, but definitely
- 9:11not the Book of Revelations. There were very likely several apostles apostles alive,
- 9:18and they gave their authority to the DK And whether they wrote it themselves or
- 9:22dictated of someone else, it really doesn't matter. It was their teachings and
- 9:26words that established Christians go to church on Sunday. This is what the euchurus
- 9:33means. You have to be baptized. You can't receive the Euchurus unless you've
- 9:35been baptized and have gone to confession. We pray you in the name of
- 9:41the Father and the Son on the Holy Spirit. I mean big stuff,
- 9:43and that's actually not in the Bible, of course. I mean the Bible
- 9:46isn't clear on everything. One of the biggest mistakes that Protestants make, and
- 9:50they're doctrine of soul, of Surtura or the Bible alone, is believing that
- 9:56everything Jesus said and everything important I guess that he and the apostles taught it's
- 10:01within the Bible. Well, the Bible doesn't say that. The Bible says
- 10:05scripture is good for instruction. It never once in the Bible does the Bible
- 10:09say the Bible is the sole authority. In fact, in the Gospel of
- 10:15John, it said, Jesus did many more things than this. That means
- 10:18said and taught many more things. So I'll give you one example. After
- 10:24the crustal fixion and resurrection, he was with the apostles for forty days before
- 10:28the ascension. The Bible is almost entirely silent about what he taught them at
- 10:33that point. Think about that, he said very clearly, after he rose
- 10:39again, he would teach them in much clearer language. He wouldn't speak comparables.
- 10:43More than likely in that period of time, he gave them all the
- 10:48rules and regulations for governing the church. He taught them everything about heaven and
- 10:54earth, and life and mortality. And the Bible is almost entirely silent on
- 10:58that. What does Saint John say? He said, Jesus did many other
- 11:03things, But it would feel more than all the books of the earth.
- 11:07Only what was included in the Bible was enough for you to believe. Well,
- 11:11what were you supposed to believe in? Well, you were supposed to
- 11:13believe in the words of Jesus. The teachings of Jesus as conveyed through his
- 11:18apostles, which is the Catholic Church. When you read the writings of the
- 11:24early church fathers, those like Pope Saint Clement of Rome, who was ordained
- 11:30by Saint Peter. When you read Wow, Saint Ignatius, Saint Justin Martyr,
- 11:39Saint Polycarps, I mean you really, they emphasize so strongly that you
- 11:46were to listen to your priest, You were listened to your bishop as if
- 11:52it was the very words of God, because God had given that authority to
- 11:56the Church. And as long as those and bishops stayed in communion, in
- 12:03agreement with the apostles, the Apostolic see the Seed of Peter, there would
- 12:09be no error. There would be absolutely no error. And in whether you
- 12:13want to go to the New Testament with like Saint Paul and all that,
- 12:18or to the early followers of the church, they condemned all schism, there
- 12:22was to be no division. Christians will be absolutely united in one church,
- 12:28one church only, not multiple churches, in one belief, to have the
- 12:33fullness of the truth as given to them by the apostles from God. As
- 12:39I said, only the apostles, only the Apostolic Church, only the Catholic
- 12:43Church is given the authority of God by God to speak for God as his
- 12:50representative on earth. If no other church that I am aware of actually claims
- 12:56that authority, Protestants will say that the Holy Spirit guides them in understanding the
- 13:01Bible. But there's only one truth, and there's only one God, and
- 13:05that truth is the same today as yesterday and for millennia and forever. The
- 13:11early Catholic Church being ensured in all truth by Jesus Christ teaching exactly what Jesus
- 13:18had just told them is the truest of all the churches. Any church that
- 13:24disagrees with the Catholic Church is actually, by definition wrong. You know,
- 13:28I was talking with someone earlier today and I said, think about it this
- 13:33way. I've written several books. I've written eleven books so far. I
- 13:37know better what I meant in my written words than anybody on earth. Someone
- 13:45else might read them and misinterpret something I said. If I sit down with
- 13:50someone and I take the time I take years to explain to them, word
- 13:54for word, exactly what I intended to write in that book, exactly what
- 13:58my meaning was, they will have a far better understanding of what I meant
- 14:05than anyone else who reads the book, especially someone who reads my book hundreds
- 14:11or even two thousand years after I wrote it. Do you really think that
- 14:16a modern writer, minister, Protestant, or you know, schismatic Catholic,
- 14:24if we want to look at it that way, no matter how well studied
- 14:30and educated they are, do you really think they're going to have a better
- 14:33understanding of what the author intended than the author himself or the person who he
- 14:39taught, especially two thousand years after the effect, after the fact, and
- 14:46usually especially if they don't speak the language. I mean, how many Biblical
- 14:54scholars actually understand the nuances of Aramaic? For it it's in the time of
- 15:01Christ, when it was the common language he was speaking to his disciples.
- 15:05They may understand Greek, but do they have as a full a knowledge of
- 15:13what was intended in the Bible as the actual authors themselves know. I don't
- 15:18care if they know Hebrew. I don't care if they know Latin. They
- 15:22don't know exactly what the apostles were told by Jesus, and what the apostles
- 15:30told those that they taught that wasn't even written down. I mean, don't
- 15:35you think someone would have said, well, wait a minute, you know,
- 15:39Saint Peter or Saint Jude or or you know, etcetera, etcetera.
- 15:45In discuss what says this, I'm having trouble understanding it. Can you explain
- 15:50it to me? Well, they did, and that's how we have the
- 15:56rich tradition that's known as the fullness of the Truth, just going by those
- 16:03Protestant principles of faith alone and the Bible alone has created tens of thousands of
- 16:11Protestant denominations, each of one who believes something distinctly different from each other.
- 16:17They all disagree, and yet there's only one truth. There's only one and
- 16:22that one truth is held by the one Church, is guaranteed from error in
- 16:26teaching on morals and doctrine by Jesus Christ himself through the power of the Holy
- 16:33Spirit. You know, Like I said, this is going to be a
- 16:37multi part series. I am going to quote some from the Bible. I'm
- 16:41going to quote some from the early Church fathers. I'm going to give my
- 16:45kind of commentary on it. Having been raised on the concept of the Bible
- 16:53alones, the soul authority sola scriptura, you can imagine how I was basically
- 17:00shaking my core before I converted to Catholicism to find out that Martin Luther had
- 17:06changed the very words of God and cut whole books out of the Bible just
- 17:11because they didn't agree with his doctrine. On what authority did he do that?
- 17:17He had no authority? Jesus didn't give him that authority. How is
- 17:21it any different from Martin Luther in what the fourteen hundreds to do that that
- 17:26it is some cult leader today, or like Joseph Smith to up and say
- 17:30I have a private revelation, I'm starting my own church. You would say
- 17:34to him, on what authority do you do that? Well, Martin Luther
- 17:38was kind of lucky because he lived in a time when most people were illiterate
- 17:41and they had no idea what the Bible said. They took his word for
- 17:45it, and he has literally led millions of people astray. I don't know.
- 17:56I mean, I know there are people have mixed opinions of him about
- 18:02him, but I mean he was not an honest man. He had a
- 18:07sham marriage with a nun just to cause scandal. He rejected God in his
- 18:14church. He set himself up as his own as his own authority. I
- 18:19mean, how different is that than what Satan did when he said he would
- 18:23refuse to worship God, but he would make himself his own God. He
- 18:29was obviously obviously an apostate. He admitted in his many writings that he suffered
- 18:34from severe depression, anxiety, and was an alcoholic, you know, you
- 18:41know, as an herbalist. We look at when they call him the Luther
- 18:47of medicine. He was name was Paris Celsus. He was a very rebellious
- 18:51type character. He was an alchemist. He wouldn't join any of the guilds.
- 18:56At the end of the day, he's buried in a Catholic church because
- 19:00he remained a faithful Catholic. He actually renounced all association with the occult,
- 19:07which was what you know, alchemy was sort of part of. And when
- 19:10someone referred to him as the Martin Luther of medicine, he stated publicly,
- 19:15he said, I will not burn with Luther. Honestly, if you read
- 19:19the writings of those two men, Paracelsus Bombastist Theophrastus von Hohenheim was an towering
- 19:29intellect that would make Martin Luther really look pretty pathetic in that regard. So
- 19:37anyway, I've already you know, cited a very important aspect of the authority
- 19:45Jesus gave it to his apostles the power to bind him loose. He said
- 19:47in Matthew sixteen nineteen. What you bind on earth will be bound in heaven.
- 19:52What you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. How dare Martin
- 19:56Luther assumed such powers? Our Lord said to Saint Peter, I give you
- 20:02the key to the Kingdom, the power to bind and loose. Those keys
- 20:04are not only essential to the church authority, but to the efficacy of the
- 20:10sacraments. They also guarantee the integrity the Bible. Had Saint Peter not had
- 20:15the keys to bind and loose, he could not have along with the apostles.
- 20:21I mean, the Pope always works with the cardinals and bishops, etc.
- 20:26They alone had the authority to decide what books belonged in the Old Testament,
- 20:30what books didn't, and there are a lot that didn't make it.
- 20:33And to write the books of the New Testament free from error to error is
- 20:40human. It is a superhuman feat to have written the New Testament. It
- 20:45could not have been done without the Holy Spirit, without the power to bind
- 20:48and loose, without the ability to guarantee truth. Saint Peter and the apostles
- 20:56alone were given this power. No one else had that already, no one
- 21:00does to this day. That power alone guarantees the New Testament is inspired by
- 21:07the Holy Spirit. That power alone guarantees the Bible is true. Like I
- 21:11said, Luther didn't have that power. No one on earth had that power.
- 21:17He certainly did not have the power to change the very words of Jesus
- 21:21Christ and cut out books of the Bible, which is what he did.
- 21:26Jesus said, I will build my church and guarantee that the gates of Hell
- 21:30will not prevail against it. He didn't say, you go build your own
- 21:34church by what authority? If Martin Luther had no such authority, he was,
- 21:41as the Church used to more stridently say, and Antichrist. He was
- 21:45like Satan, jealous of God, jealous of God's Church, who sought to
- 21:49usurp the power of God. He violated the first and most important of the
- 21:53ten commandments. I am the Lord that God. They'll shall have no gods
- 21:57before me, because Luther made him of his own God when he decided he
- 22:03had the authority to change the words of Jesus. And interestingly enough, I'll
- 22:10just kind of put there's the cheery on top of the little mention of Martin
- 22:15Luther, who I hope not to have to bring up again, because morn
- 22:18I look at him, I think he is a very evil man. Martin
- 22:22Luther admitted in his own writings that he had a vision of Jesus. Jesus
- 22:30said to him, why are you staring heavenward in search of my keys?
- 22:34Do you not understand I gave them to Peter. They are indeed the keys
- 22:38of heaven, but they are not found in heaven, for I left them
- 22:42on earth. Peter's mouth is my mouth, His tongue is my key case.
- 22:48His keys are my keys. They are in office. They are a
- 22:52power, a command given by Christ for all Christendom, for the retaining and
- 22:56remitting of the sins of men. You see, Jesus also said to his
- 23:07apostles, those who sends you forgive, they are forgiven. Those who sends
- 23:11you retain, they are retained. That's the power of the keys, that's
- 23:15the power to bind and loose. And Martin Luther never had it, and
- 23:19no Protestant church has it. People who don't believe in Saint Peter as the
- 23:26first Pope are very quick to point out how flawed he was and he was
- 23:33a very flawed man, as that's why Jesus chose him. Jesus said he
- 23:37would confound the wise by raising up the foolish. He would confound the strong
- 23:41by raising up the week. He picked a very fallible man to become the
- 23:47first pope once after Pentecost, once the apostles were absolutely filled with the Holy
- 23:53Spirit. Do you see that Saint Peter is named as the first of the
- 23:59apostle in all the gospels. Whenever a controversy comes up, or whenever the
- 24:03apostles be your name, There's no doubt, no biblical scholar questions whether he
- 24:07was the leader of the apostles. But how much power did he had.
- 24:11Let's just think about this for a minute. It says in Acts chapter five
- 24:15there was a man called Annius. He and his wife Sapphirah, agreed to
- 24:22sell a property, but with his wife's connivance, he kept back a part
- 24:26of the price and brought the rest and presented to the apostles. Peter said,
- 24:30Annius, how can Satan have so possessed you that you should lie to
- 24:36the Holy Spirit and kept back part of the price of the land while you
- 24:40still own the land. Now Scott han pointed this out very well. He
- 24:44didn't say, Anias, why are you lying to me? He said,
- 24:47why are you lying to the Holy Spirit? While you still in the land.
- 24:52Wasn't it yours to keep? And after you had sold it, wasn't
- 24:55the money yours to do with? What? As you liked? What put
- 24:57this scheme into your mind? Mind? You have been lying not to men
- 25:03but to God. He didn't say, again, you've been lying to the
- 25:07apostles, You've been lying to me Peter, No, he said, you've
- 25:10been lying to God. He could read this man's mind, He could read
- 25:15this man's soul, and he could speak with the authority of God. And
- 25:21what happened next when he heard this, Anaias fell down dead, and a
- 25:26great fear came upon everyone present. The younger man got up and wrapped the
- 25:30body and carried it out and buried it. About three hours later, his
- 25:34wife came in, not knowing what had taken place. Peter challenged her,
- 25:37tell me, was this the price you sold the land for it? Yes?
- 25:41She said that was the price. Peter then said, why did you
- 25:45and your husband agree to put the spirit of the Lord to the test.
- 25:48Listen at the door of the footsteps of those who have buried your husband,
- 25:52and they will carry you out to Instantly she dropped dead at his feet.
- 25:56When the young man came in, they found she was dead, and they
- 26:00carried her out and buried her by the side of her husband. And a
- 26:03great fear came upon the whole church and all who heard it. That is
- 26:10the power of God in a man, as Jesus Christ promised he would do.
- 26:17We find further Saint Peter. In Acts five it says even the shadow
- 26:23of Saint Peter healed people's illnesses, and all the apostles they would take handkerchiefs
- 26:29and such and take them to sick people, and it would heal them.
- 26:33The very closs that the apostles touched had the power of Jesus Christ to heal.
- 26:41Let's just stick with Acts for a minute. Acts five. The apostles
- 26:45work so many signs and miracles among the people. One in heart, they
- 26:48were one, they were united, There was no schism. They all used
- 26:52to meet in the portico of Solomon. No one else dared joined them,
- 26:56But the people were loud in their praise, and the number of men and
- 27:00women who came to believe in the Lord increased steadily. Many signs and wonders
- 27:04were worked among the people at their hands, at the hands of the apostles.
- 27:07So the sick were even taken out into the street and laid on beds
- 27:11and sleeping mats, in the hope that at least the shadow of Peter might
- 27:15fall across some of them as he went past. In Acts eight, we
- 27:22see that when the Apostles in Jerusalem heard that the Samaria that Samaria had accepted
- 27:26the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them, and they
- 27:29went down and prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit, for as yet
- 27:33He had not come down on any of them. We'll get into that morn
- 27:36when we talk about the sacrament of confirmation. So when one receives the fullness
- 27:41of the Spirit, unless you are confirmed in the Catholic Church, you do
- 27:44not receive the fullness of the Spirit. You receive it partially through baptism.
- 27:48Fullness comes only with the sacrament of confirmation in a Catholic Church, because only
- 27:53the Apostles and the successors of the Apostles, who are ordained by those who
- 28:00were ordained all the way back to the Apostles two thousand years ago have that
- 28:04power guaranteed by Jesus Christ. Then they laid hands on them, and they
- 28:11received the Holy Spirit. When Simon, who was a magician, saw that
- 28:15the spirit was given through the laying on in the apostle's hands, he offered
- 28:18them money, with the words, give me the same power, so that
- 28:22anyone I lay my hands on might receive the Holy Spirit. Peter answered,
- 28:26may your silver be lost forever, and you with it for thinking that money
- 28:29could buy when God has given for nothing. You have no share, no
- 28:33part in this. God can see how your heart is warped. Repent of
- 28:37this wickedness of yours. Pray to the Lord that the scheme of yours may
- 28:41to be forgiven. It is plain to me that you are held in the
- 28:44bitterness of gaul and the chains of sin. Simon replied, pray to the
- 28:48Lord for me yourselves, that none of these things should happen to me without
- 28:52the imposition of hands by those to whom Jesus had given the authority. Even
- 28:56baptism and belief was not sufficient to receive the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
- 29:02We're going to get into that a great deal later, I think. But
- 29:07on that note, I think really One of the biggest mistakes Protestants make is
- 29:11to believe that all the words of the Bible apply to everybody individually. Jesus
- 29:18actually said to Peter, you or Peter upon this rocket built by church,
- 29:22nobody else. He said to the apostles, I'm giving you these powers.
- 29:26You can't just assume that mantle. It just doesn't work that way. Jesus
- 29:33was a real person who was speaking to people individually. Jesus had many followers,
- 29:38some of whom he loved as individuals more than even his own disciples,
- 29:42such as Lazarus, Mary and Martha. Even among his disciples, we told
- 29:47he loved John above all others. Yet he chose the Twelve, one of
- 29:51which included Judas, who he knew would betray him, and he commissioned them.
- 29:55He does not say to any individual person a day that they did one
- 29:57of the Twelve. You can't just Bob, for instance, in twenty twenty
- 30:02three, is not granted the power and authority that God gave to Judas,
- 30:06much less to Saint Peter. The Apostles recognize the formality of their office,
- 30:11as shown by their decision to appoint a man to fill the seat left bacup
- 30:15by Judas. This was the beginning of Apostolic succession when they chose Saint Matthias
- 30:22that said that I think the word actual words of the Bible. Let another
- 30:26man his bishopric, keep his seat his authority, let another man take it,
- 30:33and they chose him through the Holy Spirit. The former role of officers
- 30:38of the church as exercised by the keys or the power to bind and lose.
- 30:41I mean, you have to remember Jesus kept saying the Kingdom of God.
- 30:47In the Kingdom of God, the king gives his authority to various officers.
- 30:51They have actual roles. You know, even going back to the Old
- 30:53Testament, we can look in the desert when Moses was chosen to lead the
- 30:59people, and suddenly a bunch of the other Jews stepped up and said,
- 31:02wait, we're all Jews, We're all sons of Abraham. Why does Moses
- 31:04get to lead us? God opened the earth and swallowed them whole. He'd
- 31:11says a fascinating story about how you know, he separated them out and everything.
- 31:17He struck them dead for trying to take the role of his high priest.
- 31:22Jesus has God anointed the people with the authority to teach in his stead.
- 31:33And I'm trying to keep these two about thirty minutes, so you know,
- 31:37I'm just gonna just wrap it up with a couple of sentences here.
- 31:41Basically, every priest, bishop, cardinal, and pope has been appointed and
- 31:47anointed in this unbroken line of Apostolic succession since the very founding of the One
- 31:52Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. Every faithful member of the clergy and all the
- 31:59laity or athletics, Universal Church, if you want to call it, that
- 32:02can trace our confirmation and our individual office from the least to the greatest,
- 32:07through the centuries, back to Saint Peter, upon whose bones the Vatican is
- 32:12built, and to the words of Christ, Thou art Peter, and upon
- 32:15this rock I found my church. Truly, the Catholic Church is the pillar
- 32:21and foundation of the faith that gave us the Bible, that ensures the integrity
- 32:25of the Word of God, and is the living, beating heart of the
- 32:29Body of Christ. No nation, kingdom, or other human institution has survived
- 32:37for as long as the Catholic Church for over two thousand years now, nor
- 32:40will the Catholic Church ever cease to exist until the end of time. We
- 32:45know that because God, our Lord Jesus Christ ensured the gates of hell shall
- 32:50not prevail against it. He described his church as a shining city set upon
- 32:53a hill, visible for all ages. Had his church ever ceased to be
- 32:59or had fallen into error, that another should take its place, God would
- 33:01have lied. God cannot lie. To believe in a church that it's not
- 33:07the very Catholic church that He founded document and improven through Apostolic of succession is
- 33:13to disbelieve in the divinity of Christ. Many Protestants love God, but they
- 33:16create they commit a very grave error in not believing in his church. As
- 33:22the Bible says, many will say, Lord, Lord, and he will
- 33:25say, I do not know you. You're not of my flock, you
- 33:30know. And really my biggest prayer with this book. It's as humble as
- 33:36it is, as flawed as I am, as a person, as unclear
- 33:39as I'm sure I am. At some points, I hope such people will
- 33:44realize the truth of what of this message and not risk the same fate as
- 33:52subscribed in the Gospel of Luke. There shall be weeping and nashing of teeth
- 33:55when you shall see Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the
- 34:00Kingdom of God, and you yourself thrust out. Too many believe this apply
- 34:05to non Christians, but Hell is the absence of God. A Christian could
- 34:09not see the Kingdom of Heaven from Hell. Even Satan believes in God.
- 34:14Belief alone is not enough. You must have faith and works, and to
- 34:24a large extent, those works aside from charity, faith, hope and love.
- 34:30You know, the whole bit are the sacraments, and only the Catholic
- 34:34Church has the sacraments. We're going to get so much into that, but
- 34:39that's going to wrap it up for this show, y'all. I like to
- 34:43close with the words of Saint Pio, Pray, hope, and don't worry.
- 34:47Have a great even talk to you tomorrow.
