- 0:02How do we experience desire? For some, it comes as a drive to
- 0:07possess something. We experience in the world
- 0:10whether something seen heard felt Etc.
- 0:15In other words, desire begins with something perceptible by
- 0:19our senses in the past. This was there for something
- 0:23close at hand. Nowadays, with the Advent of the
- 0:28internet, broadcast, media and worldwide travel, we may have
- 0:33desires that do not arise from immediately seizable objects and
- 0:38thus require various steps in order to be achieved the
- 0:43perception. However, it comes arises as a
- 0:47feeling or more, precisely a craving for something we
- 0:52experience as missing from ourselves.
- 0:55The Pursuit Of The Objects of Desire can become all-consuming
- 1:00and occupy our minds and senses all the time.
- 1:04Fulfillment of a particular desire.
- 1:06Does not in fact, lead to the cessation of Desire, rather it
- 1:13leads to the transference of the craving to a new object. the
- 1:18more we validate the seeking in fulfillment of Desire, the more
- 1:22powerful that drive embeds itself in our psyche, Buddha
- 1:28pointed out that this following of Desire, eventually leads to
- 1:32suffering. And he suggested that the way to
- 1:35happiness and fulfillment was through the removal of Desire.
- 1:40Buthe was not alone in his perception, religious and
- 1:44spiritual leaders and philosophers and thinkers have
- 1:49identified. The need to overcome desire and
- 1:52thus many methods have been tried.
- 1:56Throughout human history, to accomplish this.
- 2:01Some counseled achieving a desire free state by Indulgence
- 2:05leading to eventual satiation and even a sense of avoidance
- 2:11that comes through overindulgence others Council,
- 2:15the use of a strongly developed will power to prevent the
- 2:19expression of Desire. Both of these methods and their
- 2:24various offshoots and Alternatives fail, to recognize
- 2:28the mechanism of how desire enters into an individual and
- 2:33then Rises to a level of perception and realization in
- 2:37action. SRI aurobindo view desire, as a
- 2:41vibration, that enters the being from outside and when accepted
- 2:46then Rises and manifest for most individuals seemingly as
- 2:51something belonging to them and arising from inside.
- 2:56For those who see desire as an internal phenomenon, elimination
- 3:00of desire and Tails a struggle against oneself.
- 3:05Once an individual is able to shift the Viewpoint to see the
- 3:08working of the universal forces that create desire, it becomes
- 3:13more. A matter of tuning.
- 3:14The focus away from those vibratory levels towards the
- 3:18wider. Pure higher levels of the
- 3:21spiritual awareness, desire, then can fall away as the focus
- 3:27is successfully shifted. SRI aurobindo notes, quote, the
- 3:33rejection of Desire is essentially the rejection of the
- 3:36element of craving putting that out from the Consciousness
- 3:40itself, as a foreign element, not belonging to the true self,
- 3:44and the inner nature, but refusal to indulge the
- 3:48suggestions of Desire is also a part of the rejection to abstain
- 3:54from the action suggested. If it is not the right action
- 3:58must be Did in the yogic discipline.
- 4:02It is only when this is done in the wrong way by a mental
- 4:06aesthetic principle or a hard moral rule, that it can be
- 4:11called suppression the difference between suppression
- 4:15and an inward essential rejection is the difference
- 4:19between mental or moral control and a spiritual purification.
- 4:25When one lives in the true Consciousness, one feels the
- 4:28desires outside oneself entering from outside from the universal.
- 4:33Lower prakrit e into the mind and the vital parts.
- 4:38In the ordinary Human Condition. This is not felt men become
- 4:43aware of the desire. Only when it is there, when it
- 4:46is, come inside and found a lodging or a habitual harborage.
- 4:51And so they think it is their own and a part of themselves.
- 4:56The first condition for getting rid of Desire is therefore to
- 5:00become conscious with the true Consciousness for then it
- 5:04becomes much easier to dismiss it.
- 5:07Then one has to I struggle with it as if it were a constituent
- 5:11part of oneself to be thrown out from the being, it is easier to
- 5:16cast off and accretion and to excise, what is felt as a parcel
- 5:21of our substance when the psychic being is in front.
- 5:26Then also to get rid of Desire becomes easy for the psychic
- 5:31being has in itself. No desires.
- 5:34It has only aspirations and a seeking and love for the divine.
- 5:38Fine and all things that are or tend towards the Divine.
- 5:42The constant prominence of the psychic being tens of itself to
- 5:47bring out the true Consciousness and set, right?
