- 0:00Speaker 1: Be suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome
- 0:06Speaker 1: to bait. We gets unfiltered. Eric's not here today, He's
- 0:12Speaker 1: um it's his term with Doctor Jellyfinger. He's taken one
- 0:14Speaker 1: for the team. You're sending the squatty putt. He's probably
- 0:16Speaker 1: gonna come back all like cocky about it. Like the
- 0:19Speaker 1: doctor said, Mike colon was as clean as anything he's
- 0:22Speaker 1: ever seen it. You could eat off of my colon,
- 0:24Speaker 1: because I think the best teams have a blend of
- 0:27Speaker 1: veteran experience in youth, and they don't. That's my point
- 0:30Speaker 1: that Joe's pretty young, but I feel like they got
- 0:32Speaker 1: rid of three of their oldest lineback offensive linemen can
- 0:35Speaker 1: play longer. Again when I use the terms like always, never,
- 0:39Speaker 1: no one, everyone, like, I don't mean those terms literally.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Words have meaning, Paul, I don't tell other people what
- 0:44Speaker 1: to think, like you do well done, steak, don't do it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: There's certain things. There's just certain things you know, with
- 0:51Speaker 1: some really really good offenses, like I don't what I
- 0:54Speaker 1: agree with Mike Chris Harper Hoppers, Harper's ball, Harper's muff,
- 1:00Speaker 1: Harper's moth, not as falling, Harper's Sam says, thanks for
- 1:03Speaker 1: giving us a podcast. That's third one another one with
- 1:06Speaker 1: nine thirty three. I'll try that again. This is Patriot's Unfiltered,
- 1:11Speaker 1: fueled by Duncan. All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. We
- 1:17Speaker 1: crack ourselves up. Uh. It is Tuesday here at Gillette Stadium. Um,
- 1:23Speaker 1: the rookies are here and they've been out there. Um
- 1:26Speaker 1: and we've got photos on patriots dot com to prove it.
- 1:30Speaker 1: So we're getting there. It's phase one or two. I'm
- 1:34Speaker 1: not sure. I think we're in phase one. Yeah, I
- 1:36Speaker 1: think we're in two next week and then we'll see
- 1:39Speaker 1: him Thursday. All the coaches, we'll thay. All the coaches
- 1:42Speaker 1: were available yesterday and today, Yeah twice. Um, no one
- 1:46Speaker 1: knows who's doing what, but that's okay. I think they
- 1:48Speaker 1: do know. It's just a coordinator. A coordinator is still
- 1:51Speaker 1: the thing that that everybody can't wrap their brain around.
- 1:53Speaker 1: And uh, if I had a nickel for every time
- 1:56Speaker 1: some reporter brought up that they didn't force the bills
- 1:58Speaker 1: to punt once and the last two days it's come up,
- 2:01Speaker 1: quite had to admit that I do it quite often
- 2:03Speaker 1: as perfect. I would just say nobody does that more
- 2:07Speaker 1: than friend. I mean, I mean, can it make some
- 2:09Speaker 1: my punt? I mean that would be approvement. Can I
- 2:11Speaker 1: make a punt? It's just startling. I do it here too.
- 2:13Speaker 1: But at the same asking the coaches about it, I was,
- 2:16Speaker 1: I was a little that's good for you? Good for
- 2:18Speaker 1: you questions? Yeah, I know, I just hide in the
- 2:20Speaker 1: corner and talk about it on the radio show. Just
- 2:22Speaker 1: doesn't like tricky facts. What's tricky about it? But I'm
- 2:26Speaker 1: gonna defend myself a little bit here, you know, and
- 2:30Speaker 1: you know what someone needs to, Yeah, someone needs to
- 2:33Speaker 1: because I've been a proponent of this whole Patricia Joe
- 2:38Speaker 1: justin like I like, I don't think that it's the
- 2:41Speaker 1: greatest thing ever that we've got them, But I've said
- 2:45Speaker 1: and I will stand by that, I think having been
- 2:49Speaker 1: a head coach, for good or bad, gives them just
- 2:53Speaker 1: that much more experience. So now that they're back here,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, coaching a position or you know, something less
- 3:00Speaker 1: than being a head coach, I think it helps them
- 3:02Speaker 1: and I think that experience is valuable. And I and
- 3:06Speaker 1: both of them said that yesterday, you know, because it
- 3:10Speaker 1: was asked both of Joe, Judge and Patricia and they
- 3:12Speaker 1: both said that you know, you know, having to do
- 3:15Speaker 1: all those other jobs, you know, back when we were
- 3:18Speaker 1: head coaches, it makes it. It gives us that, you know,
- 3:22Speaker 1: bigger view of the whole picture and now and now
- 3:24Speaker 1: when we go back to doing, you know, a particular thing,
- 3:27Speaker 1: it helps us. My snarky Paul take on yesterday's availability
- 3:32Speaker 1: with the coaches was that Patricia seemed like the happier
- 3:35Speaker 1: of the two between him and Judge. Judge, Yeah, very
- 3:39Speaker 1: jovial and willing to talk, appreciate you, yeah, and shout
- 3:42Speaker 1: out to the media. Judge was very much the buttoned
- 3:45Speaker 1: up guy that we remember, very straight lay. So my
- 3:48Speaker 1: snarky Paul take was that Patricia's calling the plays and
- 3:50Speaker 1: Judge is just handing on the quarterbacks. Nobody, nobody's told me.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Ain't then, straight up, honestly going to tell you, I've
- 3:56Speaker 1: not heard anything. No one, decisions have been made, and
- 3:58Speaker 1: Matti P's like, hey, yeah, everything's right, I'm gonna be
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, are you're working with the old line and
- 4:02Speaker 1: you know, maybe other things. I still think Nick Cayley's
- 4:05Speaker 1: in the running for that. But but do you think
- 4:07Speaker 1: there's any way that they don't know yet play. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know. I just you think that they haven't decided
- 4:14Speaker 1: who's calling the plays yet, correct. I think that's crazy.
- 4:17Speaker 1: I think it might be possible. Yeah, I don't. I don't.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I don't know who it is. I'm not going to
- 4:20Speaker 1: pretend to tell you I have the information because I don't.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I'll be much like the schedule, I'll be the last
- 4:26Speaker 1: to know. I just I could just see Bill saying
- 4:29Speaker 1: we're not gonna worry about who's calling plays yet because
- 4:31Speaker 1: we don't have a game until August. I think, yeah,
- 4:34Speaker 1: but I think they know who's calling I think yeah.
- 4:36Speaker 1: I don't like they could do whatever they want. I
- 4:38Speaker 1: don't like. I just don't think it's I could see it.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I could see him not having discussed it yet, right,
- 4:45Speaker 1: And I think that's the only element that people are
- 4:47Speaker 1: really concerned about it. And I feel like it's gotten
- 4:49Speaker 1: blown up a little bit too, you know when Paul
- 4:51Speaker 1: pointed this out this morning, which is and I could
- 4:53Speaker 1: let you point out again if you want, or I
- 4:54Speaker 1: can walk you into it. I don't have to do it.
- 4:57Speaker 1: It's on account of if I say a lot of
- 4:58Speaker 1: stupid stuff when we're off the air, you know, on
- 5:00Speaker 1: the air too. You can lead a policy idea what
- 5:02Speaker 1: we're talking about, Well, I thought you were right with
- 5:05Speaker 1: everybody's like, we have no idea who's doing what? I'm like, Well,
- 5:08Speaker 1: they told you it's just the offensive who's calling the plays?
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's what you don't know. I mean, Joe Judge came
- 5:12Speaker 1: out and said, I'm working with the quarterbacks. Matt Patricia said,
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'm working with the offensive line. Nick Kaylee's still working
- 5:17Speaker 1: with the tight ends like they were. I know, I forbid, Well,
- 5:21Speaker 1: I think it's getting dragged a little bit too far.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Just I get it. The offensive cordin great debate. How
- 5:26Speaker 1: is that all going to play out the plate? But
- 5:27Speaker 1: I think it's gotten blown up where they're not telling
- 5:30Speaker 1: us who's anyone's doing anything you see. I think that
- 5:33Speaker 1: that that's sort of missing. I agree with Mike on this.
- 5:36Speaker 1: I think people are rightly concerned, but for the wrong reason.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Like I don't like the options if like I don't
- 5:44Speaker 1: think they have a guy who's capable of calling plays
- 5:47Speaker 1: or a proven let's put it this way, proven a
- 5:49Speaker 1: proven play caller. Is that a better way to put it?
- 5:51Speaker 1: They don't have a proven play caller, but like the
- 5:54Speaker 1: fact that I don't know who it is. That that's
- 5:56Speaker 1: not part of the worry. I don't need to know
- 5:58Speaker 1: who it Even if you knew who it wasn't feel
- 6:00Speaker 1: gat about it because you don't like it. They don't
- 6:01Speaker 1: feel exactly. I think that you're You're kind of right.
- 6:04Speaker 1: I think there's too much being made of it. I
- 6:07Speaker 1: think it's an issue and a concern, but it's not
- 6:10Speaker 1: for the reasons that a lot of people were concerned about.
- 6:12Speaker 1: And to Mike's point, like sometimes you step away. You
- 6:15Speaker 1: guys were here listening to the coaches yesterday and I wasn't.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I had a day off yesterday, and in full disclosure,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I was about eight eight middle. I'd steep by the
- 6:22Speaker 1: time those coaches were talking. And the coaches started at
- 6:26Speaker 1: eleven thirty. Yeah, I don't think and I started starting correct. Yeah,
- 6:32Speaker 1: I had a golf tournament, not a golfing going on,
- 6:35Speaker 1: a lot of fun um, A lot of references to
- 6:38Speaker 1: the Patriots by the way, but you know, we'll get
- 6:40Speaker 1: to that. You know, I'm famous. What are you gonna do? Um?
- 6:44Speaker 1: Just from Afar and I'm you know, I'm looking at
- 6:47Speaker 1: Twitter and I'm you know, in between holes. Every once
- 6:49Speaker 1: in a while, you're looking like, yeah, like that nobody
- 6:52Speaker 1: will get into anything, like, you know, to Mike's point this,
- 6:55Speaker 1: you know, he and I talked about it. No one,
- 6:57Speaker 1: no one's gonna get into the details of what they're doing.
- 6:59Speaker 1: And I'm like, Mike Reese full quote from Joe Judge,
- 7:02Speaker 1: I'll be working with the quarterbacks. M full quote from
- 7:05Speaker 1: Man Patricia, you know expects me working with the offensive.
- 7:07Speaker 1: I'm like, they're telling you what they're doing, right, Like
- 7:10Speaker 1: they're not telling you who's calling the place. Well, you know,
- 7:13Speaker 1: the only ones that were kind of like I thought,
- 7:15Speaker 1: Steve Belichick was intentionally vague and obviously he knows what
- 7:19Speaker 1: he's doing, and he said he didn't know what their
- 7:21Speaker 1: being vague about it, right, you know, So if you
- 7:24Speaker 1: wanted to get technical, I guess maybe they were talking
- 7:26Speaker 1: about Steve Belichick. But to Mike's point, the other guys
- 7:29Speaker 1: are basically telling you what they're going to be doing now,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I think. But I think if I had a concern
- 7:34Speaker 1: about it, it would be why are we having seemingly
- 7:39Speaker 1: having auditions for who's gonna be your offensive coll And
- 7:43Speaker 1: that's why I think they're not well, I think that
- 7:44Speaker 1: they know we just don't know. Well, here's the thing.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I broke the job of offensive coordinator into three parts,
- 7:51Speaker 1: and in some teams one guy does it all, and
- 7:53Speaker 1: sometimes it's broken up. You got your architect, your game planner,
- 7:58Speaker 1: and then your game caller, your play aller. So who's
- 8:03Speaker 1: going to do each of those or is one person
- 8:05Speaker 1: doing it all? I don't know, but but it's important
- 8:09Speaker 1: to answer that question. Who's the architect of the offense,
- 8:13Speaker 1: Who's who's putting in the game plan, and then who's
- 8:17Speaker 1: calling the plays? I don't know. Yeah, you know, the
- 8:20Speaker 1: offense I don't think structurally, fundamentally is going to change
- 8:23Speaker 1: all that much. I think it's the same offense that
- 8:26Speaker 1: Brady ran for twenty years before. Here, it's the Ray Perkins, right.
- 8:29Speaker 1: They might not have them, that's that's their system, right.
- 8:31Speaker 1: They might not have used as many of the plays
- 8:33Speaker 1: in the playbook last year because they had a rookie
- 8:35Speaker 1: who didn't know all the plays, But it's the same.
- 8:37Speaker 1: I think the same offense. It looked pretty much the
- 8:39Speaker 1: same with a few wrinkles. Here are they going to
- 8:42Speaker 1: accentuate different things based on the strength of Mac Jones
- 8:45Speaker 1: and who the personnel? You know, they have to work
- 8:47Speaker 1: with will be. But I think it's important for not
- 8:51Speaker 1: us so much as the players to know who do
- 8:54Speaker 1: I go to who's in charge when when I'm on
- 8:56Speaker 1: the field, I don't just go to my position coach,
- 8:59Speaker 1: who is in charge of this offense. I think it's
- 9:01Speaker 1: important for the players to know that more than it
- 9:03Speaker 1: is for us to know it. It It would be great
- 9:04Speaker 1: if we could know it too. But and maybe maybe
- 9:07Speaker 1: they do. Maybe they do know it, And then and
- 9:09Speaker 1: the coaches are being intending Bill, No, I think they know.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I think the coaches themselves know what's going to happen. Yeah, well,
- 9:15Speaker 1: then for a guy like Joe Judge to come out
- 9:17Speaker 1: and say that no decisions have been made, I haven't
- 9:19Speaker 1: been told. Either he's lying or they're really keeping him
- 9:21Speaker 1: in the dark, and that to me isn't good. Either
- 9:24Speaker 1: or he ain't the guy, That's what I mean. Either
- 9:26Speaker 1: they didn't tell him or he's he's lying, Like and
- 9:30Speaker 1: they didn't tell him, you know, there is the guy.
- 9:33Speaker 1: They're in shorts. It's they're not running plays. But like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: wouldn't if you're the gonna be the guy that's gonna
- 9:40Speaker 1: be the architect, game planner at least you want to.
- 9:44Speaker 1: You look at it with a certain eye, even with
- 9:46Speaker 1: what's going on now, like, Oh, this guy really looks
- 9:50Speaker 1: good running that route. This guy's hands. I'm not sure,
- 9:53Speaker 1: but I kind of think Bill has always been the
- 9:54Speaker 1: game planner for offense too, Yeah, for everything. Yeah, I
- 9:58Speaker 1: don't know. I thought lately Josh he left that to Josh.
- 10:01Speaker 1: But maybe you might be right. But I mean, I
- 10:03Speaker 1: go back to a thing that we always cite, the
- 10:05Speaker 1: two thousand and nine documentary that fulfills all the answers
- 10:08Speaker 1: to all of our questions for every sou that was.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I know it was a long time ago. Yeah, a
- 10:12Speaker 1: long time. Josh has been back. I think I think
- 10:16Speaker 1: Bill has given him the reins. I don't. I think
- 10:19Speaker 1: he called the place. I think Josh called the place.
- 10:22Speaker 1: I think I don't think he was the game planner.
- 10:25Speaker 1: I don't. Again, that doesn't make me right, No, I know,
- 10:28Speaker 1: I know it's hard. It's hard to say. Was all
- 10:30Speaker 1: part of like Bill opening up world? Yea, yeah, A
- 10:34Speaker 1: whole new world on my carpet YEA. A couple points
- 10:38Speaker 1: I just want to make is that, like I understand
- 10:41Speaker 1: what Mapatrician and Joe Judge says said yesterday. Of that
- 10:43Speaker 1: we have been in this system for a long time.
- 10:47Speaker 1: We can teach this system, you know, the terminology, the
- 10:49Speaker 1: places that they're at right now. Um, But I have
- 10:53Speaker 1: the same kind of concerns and I hear what Eric's point.
- 10:55Speaker 1: But you know, and I hear your concern two. Fred
- 10:58Speaker 1: of I've looked at the coordinator as kind of I
- 11:00Speaker 1: don't want to call him an artiste, but somebody who's
- 11:02Speaker 1: a little bit above the fray, who's thinking about strategy
- 11:05Speaker 1: and those things. And you know, Ken, a guy who
- 11:08Speaker 1: goes Wednesday Thursday Friday practice coaching the offensive line or
- 11:11Speaker 1: Wednesday Thursday Friday practice coaching Mac Jones specifically Ken. Those
- 11:15Speaker 1: guys manage both of those things and go from such
- 11:18Speaker 1: a micro coaching standpoint to the more macro kind of
- 11:22Speaker 1: point of view of an offensive coordinator, where you got
- 11:24Speaker 1: to take in all the pieces and put just added
- 11:25Speaker 1: a concern. For me, I didn't even think of it
- 11:27Speaker 1: that well. But but Josh did that for a long time.
- 11:29Speaker 1: He was quarters. Yeah, he focused on the quarterback right
- 11:32Speaker 1: and that and that makes sense, I think to Joe,
- 11:34Speaker 1: if you said it was going to be Joe Judge, Okay, fine,
- 11:36Speaker 1: I mean he's in there, he's gonna be sitting with Mac.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But you know, if it's Maddie p does that mean well,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I guess Billy Yates maybe is talking on the offensive
- 11:43Speaker 1: line about what they need to correct. I mean, I
- 11:45Speaker 1: think about all the times I've heard soundbites from Dante
- 11:48Speaker 1: Scarnecki and all the things that he would be sharing
- 11:50Speaker 1: on the sideline with the offensive line. If Matatricio's call
- 11:53Speaker 1: him plays, you know, well, like your third string guy,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it's as the one who's coaching. It's funny. I did
- 11:58Speaker 1: get a chance to talk to somebody this offseason who
- 12:02Speaker 1: was in coaching. Yeah, story that I'll never be aired,
- 12:08Speaker 1: and was asking him about a previous season when a
- 12:12Speaker 1: certain player and I forget who it was, was the
- 12:15Speaker 1: position coach and he laughed, He literally laughed out loud,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and I'm like, well, what's so funny? And he goes
- 12:22Speaker 1: that dude wasn't my position coach. He said it said
- 12:25Speaker 1: it in the media guy, but he wasn't my position coach.
- 12:27Speaker 1: He never did anything with us. It was in name only.
- 12:30Speaker 1: It was this other guy who was like a coaching assistant,
- 12:32Speaker 1: who did all the work. So in this scenario, Deuce
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's possible that Maddie p could be listed as offensive
- 12:40Speaker 1: line coach, but Billy Yates is actually doing all the
- 12:43Speaker 1: work and Maddie P is being the offensive coordinator. It's possible,
- 12:47Speaker 1: Obviously it's possible. But I would say if Patricia truly
- 12:52Speaker 1: is the old line coach on game day two, and
- 12:55Speaker 1: when the offense comes off the field, he's the one
- 12:58Speaker 1: going and doing what they did with them telling him
- 13:01Speaker 1: what they did wrong, then I think, to me that
- 13:03Speaker 1: should should rule him out for calling plays, because I
- 13:07Speaker 1: would as a head coach, I want his focus being
- 13:10Speaker 1: on the old line so that he knows what to
- 13:12Speaker 1: tell them when they come off the field. Juice's point
- 13:14Speaker 1: is that Ed hadn't really thought about it that way.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You're right, I don't. Don't. Then there's another level to
- 13:18Speaker 1: two with whatever Matt Patricia was doing last year as
- 13:22Speaker 1: the Ernie Adams role. So now you might not even
- 13:25Speaker 1: be just losing your offensive line coach if he's calling
- 13:28Speaker 1: the plays, you're also losing an eye in the sky,
- 13:30Speaker 1: right Concilierre to Belichick. So it's I mean, it's thin,
- 13:34Speaker 1: it's thin. I respect those guys. I'm happy you know
- 13:36Speaker 1: that they're in the mix. I know that they know
- 13:38Speaker 1: what they're doing, but I, like you guys, I have
- 13:41Speaker 1: concerns of how is it going to be an offense
- 13:44Speaker 1: that hits the next level with this kind of you know,
- 13:47Speaker 1: Hodgepodge style a little bit. Yeah, and you know the coaches,
- 13:51Speaker 1: as we've been talking about since the show started. That
- 13:53Speaker 1: that's obviously the main news. But we also made an
- 13:55Speaker 1: announcement today with Vince Wilkie. Yeah, officially official, the latest
- 14:01Speaker 1: member of the Patriots Hall of Fame. And uh, I
- 14:04Speaker 1: don't think that comes as a huge surprise to most people,
- 14:08Speaker 1: fan favorite, obviously a great player in Tennessee, just going yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 1: another year ring a congrats to big Vince. You know,
- 14:17Speaker 1: I think everyone on the ballot this year will get
- 14:19Speaker 1: in eventually. I just think that it was Rabel's turn.
- 14:23Speaker 1: But that's just me me too. I think I threw
- 14:26Speaker 1: a few votes to Rabel yesterday just to see if
- 14:28Speaker 1: it was more than once. I could do that three
- 14:32Speaker 1: three times the Chicago just three early and often that's
- 14:34Speaker 1: the Chicago way. So yeah, So congratulations to Vince. That'll
- 14:38Speaker 1: be fun having him back up here whenever they decide
- 14:40Speaker 1: to do that. Yeah. I asked a couple of the
- 14:42Speaker 1: coaches this morning. In the first part just about Vince
- 14:45Speaker 1: liked hearing DeMarcus Covington, d line coach now was here
- 14:49Speaker 1: later than after Vince had retired, but still said that
- 14:52Speaker 1: they put him up all the time in terms of
- 14:54Speaker 1: his film as how they want guys to play and
- 14:57Speaker 1: the ability. I think that was what was impressive to
- 14:59Speaker 1: me just as a fan back then, was Vince's ability
- 15:02Speaker 1: to kind of look like a nose tackle. But I
- 15:05Speaker 1: think in twenty and eleven especially, I think of that
- 15:08Speaker 1: Ravens game, Sorry Paul, to bring that one up in
- 15:10Speaker 1: the playoffs, just where he was dominant, I mean, just
- 15:13Speaker 1: as as dominant as a defensive lineman can be. Um
- 15:16Speaker 1: moving him a variety of blaze, you know, Gerabmeo saying
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know, he played him at nose, then all of
- 15:20Speaker 1: a sudden we move him outside to d end and
- 15:23Speaker 1: every single time that you knew the team was running
- 15:25Speaker 1: the other directions. So, uh, he was awesome player. I
- 15:28Speaker 1: know he's beloved and hopefully we're able to have a
- 15:29Speaker 1: big ceremony here this summer. Get get all the crowd out.
- 15:32Speaker 1: I know he'll he'll get a good turnout. Yeah, that's
- 15:35Speaker 1: good stuff. I wish we knew, like, you know, the
- 15:38Speaker 1: actual vote count, like how close it was, you know,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, my guess is it wasn't all that close.
- 15:46Speaker 1: But that's again they kind of like the who's calling
- 15:48Speaker 1: the place? I have no idea, just my guests, mostly
- 15:51Speaker 1: health secret yea, and a couple of transactions as well, yeah,
- 15:56Speaker 1: Eric King, Eric King, Yeah, and as well as Devin Hafford,
- 16:00Speaker 1: who was the cornerback, not the next settlement nothing. And
- 16:05Speaker 1: the other thing we have to talk about because we
- 16:07Speaker 1: haven't had a show since is the schedule. Oh wow,
- 16:10Speaker 1: the schedules out. Eric, the schedule came out. Yeah, I
- 16:13Speaker 1: didn't even realize. Yeah, it's amazing. In the off season,
- 16:15Speaker 1: things get buried major pieces like that, right. Yeah, so
- 16:18Speaker 1: it was a big Thursday. Night Fall has been playing
- 16:21Speaker 1: the role of pall over the reaction to the schedule.
- 16:25Speaker 1: I think it's a tough it's a tough road. I
- 16:27Speaker 1: thought it was gonna be a tough road no matter
- 16:29Speaker 1: how they knew. But opponents, I was a little concerned
- 16:31Speaker 1: about the schedule, but a lot of twenty fourteen similarities.
- 16:36Speaker 1: That's kind of what I wrote about in my analysis.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Starting with two games on the road, the first one
- 16:40Speaker 1: being in Miami at one o'clock. Just like in twenty fourteen,
- 16:44Speaker 1: you got the nice week ten by, which is always
- 16:47Speaker 1: good to have it. Roughly around mid season, you got
- 16:49Speaker 1: the back to backs in the South in the desert,
- 16:51Speaker 1: which we thought was going to happen. They requested and
- 16:53Speaker 1: was granted, So expect them to probably be out in
- 16:56Speaker 1: uh uh, probably stay in Arizona, not go to Vegas
- 17:00Speaker 1: for the week. But yeah, I wouldn't blame Bill if
- 17:04Speaker 1: he wants to keep them away exactly far away from
- 17:06Speaker 1: Vegas as possible. But we were kind of speculating Jetfish
- 17:10Speaker 1: is still at Arizona right, University of Arizona, so maybe
- 17:13Speaker 1: they coordinate and use his his facility over there. It's
- 17:16Speaker 1: thinking you know, um and ending with Buffalo again, that's
- 17:21Speaker 1: gonna give you a little like. Yeah, that was what
- 17:23Speaker 1: stuck out to me a little bit was the same
- 17:25Speaker 1: afcast common line up with bookends on the Dolphins Jets
- 17:29Speaker 1: bang bang in the middle, and then at the end
- 17:31Speaker 1: with the with the Bills. Yeah, that was odd that
- 17:33Speaker 1: the similarities with the Miami early late, Buffalo both late
- 17:37Speaker 1: and the Jets kind of in the middle. That's exactly
- 17:39Speaker 1: the way it was last year for me. It's just
- 17:41Speaker 1: selfish reasons. But two Thursday night games in a row,
- 17:43Speaker 1: one of Thanksgiving, thanks four night games in a row,
- 17:46Speaker 1: and then four night games in a row. Yeah, we
- 17:48Speaker 1: might do something with the postgame shows that months. Hardy
- 17:53Speaker 1: called me yesterday, Freddy saw up make him in a
- 17:55Speaker 1: little half hour, how about ninety minutes from Yes, I
- 18:00Speaker 1: feel like I'm optimistic right now because it's all those
- 18:02Speaker 1: one pms to start twenty five, but a lot of
- 18:06Speaker 1: Sunday and then you're gonna get to that essence, the
- 18:09Speaker 1: essence now we do the show's right, the pre and
- 18:11Speaker 1: postgame shows I have Hardy and I have Deuced. Those
- 18:14Speaker 1: are my two co hosts, right. The essence of both
- 18:17Speaker 1: of them were on full display when the when the
- 18:20Speaker 1: schedule came out, Hardy four primetime games in a row
- 18:24Speaker 1: with question marks and Deuce ten one o'clock games glasses
- 18:29Speaker 1: half full, I guess, yeah not butchered at all. Tough schedule.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Um and and the Raiders preseason game that was that
- 18:37Speaker 1: was a surprise away. And now we're speculating if we
- 18:40Speaker 1: might be able to go out there and do join practices,
- 18:43Speaker 1: and I mean with the Giants. First, they've always kind
- 18:45Speaker 1: of done joined practices with them the third week, so well,
- 18:48Speaker 1: it's funny, how are they gonna do working last Thursday?
- 18:50Speaker 1: About how the last time the Giants were the one
- 18:54Speaker 1: excuse me, the week one preseason game, and then they
- 18:57Speaker 1: may happen that it's one of those that when we
- 18:59Speaker 1: were talking about the fact that they might move that
- 19:01Speaker 1: Giants preseason game, you know, like you listen to this show, Yeah,
- 19:04Speaker 1: you might learn something, you might catch something like in passing. Yeah,
- 19:07Speaker 1: we thought there was a chance of that based on
- 19:09Speaker 1: the schedule of events heater at Jolt Stadium. Yeah, And
- 19:13Speaker 1: I mean, are they gonna do three sets of joint practices?
- 19:15Speaker 1: I mean sounds like the Panthers are already kind of
- 19:17Speaker 1: teed up. That was the rumor earlier in the offseason.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Matt Rule actually said it in March at the annual meeting.
- 19:23Speaker 1: So it seems like a lot if they were going
- 19:26Speaker 1: to do well, it wouldn't surprise me. Though. Even if
- 19:28Speaker 1: they don't do it with the Giants, maybe they do
- 19:30Speaker 1: it with the Raiders because of Josh and it's a
- 19:34Speaker 1: big trip. Yeah, who knows. Just strange to go cross
- 19:37Speaker 1: country in the summer I see no reason to go
- 19:40Speaker 1: to Vegas for a preseason game unless you're planning on
- 19:43Speaker 1: doing joint practice. Right. It seems like a long haul
- 19:45Speaker 1: just to go there and play one meaningless game in
- 19:49Speaker 1: August Vegas August? Right, But didn't we hear rumors that
- 19:52Speaker 1: the Raiders were actually gonna come here and do a
- 19:55Speaker 1: joint and then everybody was going to go back. Well
- 19:57Speaker 1: either way it could either well I like, I like
- 20:00Speaker 1: your way better, but either way, yeah, something we won't
- 20:04Speaker 1: find out about it. You know, if we were like
- 20:06Speaker 1: anywhere near like Vegas itself, and I'd say, sure, I'll
- 20:09Speaker 1: go to Vegas for a couple of days, watch some
- 20:11Speaker 1: joint practices and you know, doors do they have are
- 20:14Speaker 1: the outdoor practice facilities? I don't. I don't know what
- 20:16Speaker 1: their facilities that will be. Could I worry about? You know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: it's it's unsafe. Well remember that, I mean in Tennessee
- 20:23Speaker 1: in human that that was as hot as you could
- 20:26Speaker 1: be on the practice field. Yeah, and the desert, well
- 20:29Speaker 1: it's a dry heat. I know. Well that's the funny
- 20:31Speaker 1: thing is like, Oh, they're getting ready for Miami, but
- 20:33Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, Miami, that's pretty humid. It's desert dry.
- 20:36Speaker 1: It's not the thing. They have an indoor facility in Henderson, Nevada.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Family family out there. Now if we assuming that we
- 20:45Speaker 1: do have joint practices there, Fred and but I assume
- 20:48Speaker 1: we'll go out, you know, maybe we'll try to do
- 20:50Speaker 1: the shows like we have the last couple of years.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Sure M, one member of our party will not be
- 20:54Speaker 1: making that trip. That's right, that's right. Yeah, Eric, you
- 20:59Speaker 1: have made a little announcement yesterday that Paul is still
- 21:02Speaker 1: reading and told me so when I came in this morning,
- 21:05Speaker 1: I think I got through Warren Peacefu. Yeah. This, uh,
- 21:10Speaker 1: this is my penultimate show. Thursday will be my last one,
- 21:13Speaker 1: and then Friday my last day with the organization off
- 21:17Speaker 1: to bigger and better things, let's hope. So. I don't
- 21:22Speaker 1: don't know exactly where or when or what I'm gonna
- 21:25Speaker 1: be doing next, but I think it's time to to
- 21:29Speaker 1: give it a shot. Yeah, not getting any younger. There's
- 21:32Speaker 1: a lot of things I like to do and want
- 21:34Speaker 1: to do, and you know this will free me up
- 21:36Speaker 1: to explore that. So I think, now, Freddie, if we
- 21:39Speaker 1: go to Vegas, will you come, No, doucet, it's gonna
- 21:44Speaker 1: be bad. I mean maybe I could be persuaded to try.
- 21:48Speaker 1: We're gonna try to watch practice and run the show.
- 21:52Speaker 1: Not good. I mean, I'll go, but I usually do.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I'll come in before the game. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:00Speaker 1: we'd come back here. The good thing is the airport
- 22:02Speaker 1: is right, so you can get get off the plane,
- 22:05Speaker 1: go hit a few rounds at the blackjack table, go
- 22:07Speaker 1: over to the practice facility. Yeah. I definitely could find
- 22:11Speaker 1: some time to do a little blackjack when I'm there,
- 22:14Speaker 1: I'll find some time to watch you do black jack.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Watch you what you've never played? Play? I can play.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Paul's a card counter, did you know? Are you? Yeah?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Do you count the cards? I don't want to. I'm not.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm not getting thrown on a trunk and driven on
- 22:26Speaker 1: the desert for you. I'm too stupid to count cars
- 22:29Speaker 1: like Kenjiong and the Hangover Dude out with my right,
- 22:35Speaker 1: You're what that was a little unexpected frontal nudity on
- 22:39Speaker 1: that movie that I was I was not anticipating. Yeah,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I agree, so, and Matt, you'll be out with us
- 22:48Speaker 1: right holding down the fort. Won't be able to make
- 22:50Speaker 1: that drive though, not like the last time we flew
- 22:54Speaker 1: to Philly on Tennessee. I mean, you just had a
- 22:58Speaker 1: heart attack getting onto the playing with all your stuff
- 23:00Speaker 1: and they're like, you gotta repack that. That's too heavy,
- 23:05Speaker 1: like drenched in sweats, bringing him back to Afghanistan. That's
- 23:10Speaker 1: a look at the preseason, you know, Giants, Panthers, Raiders,
- 23:13Speaker 1: and it looks like, um all if at least two
- 23:18Speaker 1: out of three, but it looks like all are definite
- 23:20Speaker 1: candidates for some joint practices. Yeah yeah, and then you
- 23:22Speaker 1: start the season off with Miami in Miami. Yeah, so
- 23:27Speaker 1: that's what that's not. So that could be maybe why
- 23:30Speaker 1: Bill wants to go to Vegas if he goes just timidity,
- 23:34Speaker 1: dry heat, you know, thin out that blood. Although if
- 23:37Speaker 1: they're gonna be working out indoors, then not even get
- 23:40Speaker 1: the benefits. So what's the point. What are we doing? Well,
- 23:43Speaker 1: we'll just tell Josh he wants to go outdoors. Tell
- 23:45Speaker 1: Josh we're gonna practice in Miami because that's our first game.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Can you meet me in Miami. We'll join practice there,
- 23:51Speaker 1: then we'll go to your place play the game. I
- 23:53Speaker 1: love it. I love it, and I would like to
- 23:55Speaker 1: hear what fans think about the Patriots. Uh's get your
- 23:59Speaker 1: release video with Ernie Adams. See what they thought if
- 24:02Speaker 1: they liked it or not. Also dropped a ranking which
- 24:06Speaker 1: you took me to task on a little bit yesterday.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Not only um say yeah he yes, he forgot the word.
- 24:20Speaker 1: He did not like what happened. Oh he didn't like
- 24:23Speaker 1: my h he basically harumped it. My ranking. I did too.
- 24:26Speaker 1: What ranking? I put out the ranking of all the
- 24:28Speaker 1: road trips. I've ranked the thirty two without guy, I
- 24:31Speaker 1: told you where I was, Paul, you haven't read it.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Without reading it? What do you think Eric ranked as
- 24:38Speaker 1: his number one destination? Oh, you're asking me to get
- 24:40Speaker 1: inside the mind of a genius. Yes, I don't. I
- 24:43Speaker 1: don't care for the sarcasms. Best your best road trip
- 24:47Speaker 1: thirty two? Yeah, and that includes that includes the international destinations,
- 24:52Speaker 1: because to New York to Los Angeles. So you count
- 24:55Speaker 1: London in Mexico City and that's thirty two. Okay, then London, No,
- 25:01Speaker 1: not number one, not number one okay close, but not
- 25:04Speaker 1: number one, not overseas. Yeah, I mean yeah, the other
- 25:08Speaker 1: one couldn't have been on these No, all due respect.
- 25:12Speaker 1: Let's see Eric's favorite road trip. I think food. Well,
- 25:17Speaker 1: that's it's food. Food everywhere you go everywhere. I mean,
- 25:20Speaker 1: that's what we do Saturday nights, we go out, right,
- 25:23Speaker 1: you know, that's what we do atmosphere. I'm gonna say, Rain, Oh,
- 25:31Speaker 1: come on Seattle. See, but what were you gonna say?
- 25:38Speaker 1: He spoiled it? I was gonna ask Miami, But Seattle,
- 25:42Speaker 1: he said, Rain, Yeah, like how Seattle. Seattle was a
- 25:45Speaker 1: good trip. Yeah, it would not have been my favorite,
- 25:48Speaker 1: but but I I understand what he's talking about. Seattle.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I liked that trip. And again, it's not just you
- 25:54Speaker 1: fly in, you go to the game. That's not It
- 25:57Speaker 1: includes how long could you possibly stay? What's there to do? Shopping?
- 26:02Speaker 1: How good is the food? You know? How close are
- 26:04Speaker 1: you too? It's funny that that that would be so
- 26:07Speaker 1: good on his list, so high on his list, with
- 26:08Speaker 1: the food, with all the seafood, right, yeah, but there's
- 26:11Speaker 1: more than just the seafood. There's a good mix of
- 26:13Speaker 1: your variety of stuff. But like in Seattle might taste different,
- 26:17Speaker 1: the Pacific different. Throw the seafood you can. I've seen
- 26:22Speaker 1: them over there, I've been there, we have been. We
- 26:24Speaker 1: had him going right by, right, I was right by.
- 26:27Speaker 1: I took issue with that he did, but Bob took
- 26:29Speaker 1: issue because my last my my thirty second out of
- 26:32Speaker 1: thirty two was Bob's number one out of thirty two.
- 26:36Speaker 1: What was that? What was that? Green Bay? Because of
- 26:40Speaker 1: the history, see that that makes that makes perfect sense, right,
- 26:44Speaker 1: makes perfect sense. I'm green Bay. The fact that it's
- 26:49Speaker 1: lambeau Field doesn't put it high on my list exactly
- 26:51Speaker 1: right checks now. I don't know if it's last, but wow,
- 26:55Speaker 1: because what would a trip to Green Bay looked like
- 26:56Speaker 1: for a fan? Like, exactly other than the game two
- 27:00Speaker 1: hours from the nearest two hours. And once you're there,
- 27:02Speaker 1: what else you're there to do? You have to go
- 27:04Speaker 1: to the Green Bay's museum exactly, and then you don't appleton?
- 27:08Speaker 1: What's an appleton? So like, if you're an adult, yeah, yeah, right,
- 27:15Speaker 1: if you're a guy, if you're an adult, you're flying
- 27:17Speaker 1: to Milwaukee, driving two hours, you know, maybe stay over
- 27:20Speaker 1: night in Milwaukee, you wake up in the morning, you
- 27:22Speaker 1: drive two hours to Green Bay, you go to the game,
- 27:25Speaker 1: you drive two hours back, you fly home. Yeah, there's
- 27:27Speaker 1: nothing too. And Pittsburgh was another one high on Bob's list.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I like I like Pitts Pittsburgh's and I like it.
- 27:33Speaker 1: I do interesting little town. Yeah, I had him in
- 27:35Speaker 1: my third string. I broke him up into thirds just
- 27:38Speaker 1: to you know, sort of give him like a you know,
- 27:40Speaker 1: like a depth chart starters, backups in third string, and
- 27:43Speaker 1: Pittsburgh was high on my third string and then close
- 27:46Speaker 1: to being a backup. One he had really high was
- 27:50Speaker 1: the commanders, Washington commanders, which I completely disagree with. Well, Washington,
- 27:56Speaker 1: I do the state. I agree with you on that part.
- 27:59Speaker 1: I made all of our country. I may have missed.
- 28:01Speaker 1: I may have overly graded the stadium. It probably should
- 28:03Speaker 1: have been a C. I gave it a B minus.
- 28:05Speaker 1: It's probably probably more of it. They're in Maryland. They're
- 28:07Speaker 1: not even in DC now, right, and you don't right, see,
- 28:10Speaker 1: I I'm jaded by all these by based on where
- 28:13Speaker 1: we stay right, like I've been able to like Buffalo
- 28:17Speaker 1: to me is a terrible stadium. Yeah, terrible, sorry, terrible city.
- 28:21Speaker 1: But we always stay right where there's a million different
- 28:24Speaker 1: places to do something, so it's fine. Like it's like
- 28:27Speaker 1: it would probably be in the middle of my pack
- 28:29Speaker 1: right of road trips. Whereas like every time we've gone
- 28:32Speaker 1: to Washington, we've never been near Washington. Uh, well wee
- 28:35Speaker 1: one time we stayed down to season. No, it was
- 28:37Speaker 1: a regular season game in December in twenty eleven. Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 1: right after there was an Army maybe game there the
- 28:43Speaker 1: night before, so the it was the gronk uh Brian Kerrigan. Yeah,
- 28:50Speaker 1: but there was still Army in one end zone and
- 28:52Speaker 1: Navy and the other end zone because they had just
- 28:54Speaker 1: played the game the night before. Rum. But we stayed downtown,
- 28:57Speaker 1: right downtown. Why we literally like a ball away from
- 29:00Speaker 1: the White House. It was awesome. Like I like Kansas City.
- 29:03Speaker 1: Kansas City's good. I like, uh, you know, and we
- 29:07Speaker 1: when we're grading these trips, are we doing everything well?
- 29:10Speaker 1: He I am convenience stadium gave a grade from the
- 29:14Speaker 1: stadium and then he gave it and then he combined it. Right.
- 29:17Speaker 1: I considered where the stadium is, how good the stadium is?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Uh so what came out on top on that list?
- 29:26Speaker 1: Places like that I haven't been to, Like the Vegas one,
- 29:29Speaker 1: the LA one, um, yeah you know those are but
- 29:34Speaker 1: you see him on TV. Those Yeah, the Tottenham, the
- 29:36Speaker 1: New Tottenham one. Those are ap Dallas Stadium. Dallas is
- 29:38Speaker 1: an A plus stadium, and I like, I like Houston
- 29:41Speaker 1: and Detroit for the stadiums themselves. I like Denver Stadium.
- 29:44Speaker 1: See that's the thing, Like I said, Detroit should have
- 29:46Speaker 1: been high. Well that's the thing. Like I gave a
- 29:48Speaker 1: high grade for Detroit's stadium, a middling grade for the
- 29:53Speaker 1: locale because it's it's got some really rough edges to it.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But downtown all the cities do. If you're only going
- 29:58Speaker 1: to be there for a night or two, there's a
- 29:59Speaker 1: lot of things to do. I get it. But I
- 30:01Speaker 1: didn't want to be like a Mike Mayock and have
- 30:05Speaker 1: like five ties for third place. That I made a choice. Yeah,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I mean I'm sure he was not. Now, No, I don't.
- 30:14Speaker 1: Just like you know, I love Seattle. I haven't been
- 30:17Speaker 1: to anywhere near the number of stadiums you guys have
- 30:19Speaker 1: been to, but but Seattle was awesome. Yeah, Like I've
- 30:22Speaker 1: had them all. I've had them all over the world.
- 30:25Speaker 1: I mean, I've talked about it before. The drum band,
- 30:28Speaker 1: the convenience of all the bars, fans walking, the fans
- 30:31Speaker 1: walking in, how into it they were. Even in that
- 30:34Speaker 1: O eight game with Matt Castle they were out of
- 30:35Speaker 1: the playoffs, still it was totally the twelfth Man. Everything
- 30:38Speaker 1: was on the line. I thought that was just an
- 30:41Speaker 1: I mean Tennessee because that's the top ten. Yeah, that's
- 30:44Speaker 1: one of my tempts. See, now that's a terrible stadium though. Yeah,
- 30:47Speaker 1: it's a terrible But it looks like this one. It is.
- 30:49Speaker 1: It's the same like this. It's the same, same market
- 30:51Speaker 1: and everything. Yeah, they just don't have a lighthouse juice,
- 30:54Speaker 1: that makes sense, you know, no water, funny, but we
- 30:57Speaker 1: don't have a lighthouse. Now we get Nashville, and Nashville
- 30:59Speaker 1: is like party completely taken off into the greatest NFL destination.
- 31:04Speaker 1: It's like great karaoke we had. I mean, how much
- 31:06Speaker 1: fun do we have that on that on that trip
- 31:09Speaker 1: this guy between Deuce and Matt, Yeah, you know, the
- 31:14Speaker 1: two new guys karaoke and and me and Matt no socks,
- 31:19Speaker 1: just you know, what have we done sidling up to
- 31:21Speaker 1: the bar? You know, New Orleans is great because you
- 31:23Speaker 1: can walk everywhere. I can't say, I can't imagine there's
- 31:25Speaker 1: a better all around one than New Orleans. Yeah, any
- 31:28Speaker 1: any stadium that's within walking distance of the city gets
- 31:32Speaker 1: higher grades. You can't do anything still and walk from
- 31:35Speaker 1: wherever you wanted to do it to the stadium. You know,
- 31:37Speaker 1: that's why, you know, Gillette Stadium. You know, no disrespect
- 31:40Speaker 1: to Patriot Place, but if it was in Boston, it
- 31:43Speaker 1: would have much the same stadium, Yes, much higher much Yeah,
- 31:47Speaker 1: thank god for Patriot Place or the Hall. Like, I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 1: what did they used to How do you pitch people
- 31:52Speaker 1: driving out here? Literally? True it still is in some
- 31:57Speaker 1: parts of one is a truck. But but Nolan is
- 32:01Speaker 1: like not just the Super Bowl weeks, which were awesome,
- 32:03Speaker 1: but like there's all kinds of food. Then the food
- 32:06Speaker 1: is fantastical, music, the music, the culture and the environment.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And then you go to the state even have there's
- 32:12Speaker 1: even a casino right there right like that within one
- 32:14Speaker 1: sea just I and I and New Orleans drops a
- 32:17Speaker 1: little bit on my ranking because the stadium is in
- 32:20Speaker 1: a good location. But the stadium itself is kind of
- 32:22Speaker 1: a dump. It's it's it's old, you know, it's old,
- 32:25Speaker 1: it's stayed, it's kind of dumpy. So I factor all
- 32:28Speaker 1: these things in and I tried to make a where
- 32:29Speaker 1: did no one just finish? Uh it was like twelve.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I think it was like close to the Yeah, yeah,
- 32:36Speaker 1: well it for me it is, but like that's that's
- 32:39Speaker 1: the whole point. Like I wanted to be a list
- 32:41Speaker 1: where it exactly I didn't want it to be a
- 32:43Speaker 1: list where everybody was like, yes, that's exactly right. I
- 32:45Speaker 1: see with everything you have, you some days get back
- 32:49Speaker 1: to me and then you can go. I think you're right,
- 32:51Speaker 1: and it's it's somebody who maybe is like a football
- 32:53Speaker 1: history crazy person that just wants to go to lambeau
- 32:56Speaker 1: Field and experience that like for them that like that,
- 33:00Speaker 1: That to me is ninety nine percent of why Green
- 33:04Speaker 1: Bay would be on your list totally. That's I don't
- 33:06Speaker 1: really like the food, simply to say lambeau Field, right,
- 33:09Speaker 1: I just want to watch football and checking you're checking
- 33:11Speaker 1: a box off of your list. D You've been to
- 33:14Speaker 1: Lambo a handful of times? Yes, Like was there anything that, like,
- 33:17Speaker 1: any kind of experience that moved you in anything like
- 33:21Speaker 1: lunch moved me a little. But but but it's not
- 33:25Speaker 1: like your you know, like some people are really into
- 33:28Speaker 1: the history. Some people have no interest at all. I
- 33:30Speaker 1: would say Fred's like in the middle. I think Fred
- 33:31Speaker 1: appreciates it. I mean I like seeing the ring and yeah,
- 33:34Speaker 1: I mean like it. It wasn't it was like did
- 33:36Speaker 1: I just treat walking into lambeau like I did any
- 33:39Speaker 1: other states? No. It was like, wow, this is Lambo field.
- 33:42Speaker 1: But then I was like, okay, yeah, actually it's cool.
- 33:44Speaker 1: I also have memories a lot of history having to
- 33:46Speaker 1: climb a ladder to get into the press box, remember
- 33:48Speaker 1: where like it's like jungle gym and you know the
- 33:51Speaker 1: press box, the actual press box. Why would he be
- 33:53Speaker 1: in the that's only from with me and Andy os right,
- 33:57Speaker 1: because you saw the ladder and you're like, nope, Eric,
- 33:59Speaker 1: I have to I have to be honest. I don't
- 34:01Speaker 1: have any recollection of any ladder. We were like, we're
- 34:03Speaker 1: like underneath like that, I have to go up a ladder. Fred,
- 34:06Speaker 1: did you give me a boost? I think you would
- 34:08Speaker 1: remember going not quite I don't remember. It's not quite
- 34:10Speaker 1: like Buffalo where you walked through the concourse, you know.
- 34:13Speaker 1: And but there was a point where we're walking like
- 34:15Speaker 1: literally like on like a great you would have you
- 34:18Speaker 1: would have gotten really scared because you don't like the greats,
- 34:20Speaker 1: but do that, and we had to like climb up
- 34:22Speaker 1: like a staircase with like it was almost like a ladder.
- 34:26Speaker 1: I don't think that's anymore. It was. It was the
- 34:28Speaker 1: last time we went like the Raven because that was
- 34:30Speaker 1: the only time I went, I was with you going
- 34:32Speaker 1: up a ladder. I was with you either, and you
- 34:34Speaker 1: were like, what are we doing? Like this is Gil
- 34:37Speaker 1: Santos went up that? Yeah, no chance, Yes, how many?
- 34:42Speaker 1: I think I might have only been there once. I
- 34:44Speaker 1: don't remember that in three two. Did you go in
- 34:47Speaker 1: two thousand and six for that five game Sante Samuel game? Yeah,
- 34:52Speaker 1: sack five and knocked him out of the Samuel couldn't play?
- 34:54Speaker 1: What was Mexico City? Like? I didn't it was I
- 34:57Speaker 1: wish we had one more day there because we just
- 34:59Speaker 1: literal really flew in at night and played the game
- 35:02Speaker 1: the next morning and we're out of there. But the
- 35:04Speaker 1: stadium itself was yeah, it was kind of beaten up.
- 35:08Speaker 1: It was old, old stadium, yeah. Um. But the city
- 35:11Speaker 1: itself we stayed in at we stayed in like the
- 35:13Speaker 1: Beverly Hills part of Mexico City. It was beautiful. Yeah. Um.
- 35:17Speaker 1: So if we had one more day there, it would
- 35:18Speaker 1: have been great to go out to the Pyramid complex
- 35:20Speaker 1: out there, um, and just to do a little tursty stuff,
- 35:24Speaker 1: you know. I mean some people in our party were there,
- 35:27Speaker 1: like with the marketing, I think they were. They were
- 35:29Speaker 1: a couple of days early, so they were marketing the
- 35:31Speaker 1: market there. With the marketing, they have their junkets. They
- 35:33Speaker 1: have their they do they have junkets a unique location,
- 35:37Speaker 1: so you know, give it a Vegas Yeah that twice.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, uh that's uh. Give it a look on
- 35:44Speaker 1: Patriots dot com. Cenus your comments. They say what you
- 35:47Speaker 1: want to say about yer, rip rip it if you want,
- 35:51Speaker 1: save them for next week and then right, and I
- 35:53Speaker 1: can't defend myself, all right. Five five PATS five hundred
- 35:56Speaker 1: is the eighth ticket hot line. Lots of talk about rookies,
- 35:58Speaker 1: OTA's coming up up schedule release Eric's article. Um you
- 36:04Speaker 1: know all that stuff coaches availability yesterday and today. It's
- 36:08Speaker 1: actually going on now as we speak. Um so so
- 36:12Speaker 1: honoring du Yeah, I'm I should be over by now.
- 36:15Speaker 1: It should be just about over. It sounds a lot
- 36:17Speaker 1: more play call talk. I'm seeing, you know, Joe Judge,
- 36:20Speaker 1: more more of the same. We don't know who, but
- 36:22Speaker 1: I'm ready and I'll do it if I have to.
- 36:24Speaker 1: We just want to get you heard it yesterday, you
- 36:26Speaker 1: heard it today today. All right, So let's go to
- 36:28Speaker 1: the Ace ticket hut line. We'll start with Justin in Virginia. Hey, justin, Hey,
- 36:34Speaker 1: how's it going, guys? Good? Hey, Jared gonna gona mystery man?
- 36:38Speaker 1: Thank you? Justin most definitely, Hey, So, I have kind
- 36:41Speaker 1: of a fan theory. Um. I think Pierre strong Bill
- 36:47Speaker 1: intends him to be, like, if he's good enough, he
- 36:50Speaker 1: intends him to be like one of the top two
- 36:53Speaker 1: running backs and kind of cycle in and with Steven
- 36:55Speaker 1: and I'll tell you part of like why so l
- 36:59Speaker 1: Garrett when we had him, he like got to the
- 37:02Speaker 1: second level and he was just gone a lot of times.
- 37:05Speaker 1: And I think that's part of Pere's strong skill set.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily saying they're the same player, but I
- 37:10Speaker 1: just think getting to that next level and just really
- 37:13Speaker 1: turning on the jets and just being gone, Like what
- 37:16Speaker 1: do you guys think of that? I think it's all
- 37:18Speaker 1: part of rotation. I mean, I think he'll be all
- 37:20Speaker 1: everly involved. I just don't think they overthink it too much.
- 37:22Speaker 1: I think they get a bunch of guys that they
- 37:24Speaker 1: like and they'll let the injuries and everything kind of
- 37:27Speaker 1: play out. I mean, there were a couple of times
- 37:29Speaker 1: last year they had got he like took him in
- 37:34Speaker 1: and it is just no matter what, no matter how
- 37:36Speaker 1: he plays, he's gonna be slotted into that role. But
- 37:39Speaker 1: I'm just saying, like I think he's thinking about like
- 37:41Speaker 1: life after Damian Harrison. I don't think he has that
- 37:43Speaker 1: skill set. Let this kid play more than uh he
- 37:47Speaker 1: lets a lot of these rookies play. Yeah, I think
- 37:50Speaker 1: that there's a big difference between what you're describing. Um.
- 37:54Speaker 1: What I like about this pick is it kind of
- 37:57Speaker 1: goes back to the way they used to do it,
- 37:59Speaker 1: and they have a key player in a role who's
- 38:02Speaker 1: nearing the end, and they don't wait for that guy
- 38:04Speaker 1: to go. They get the guy before he goes, Like
- 38:08Speaker 1: Nate Solder before Matt White retired, you know Shane Vereen
- 38:14Speaker 1: or you know James White before Shane Vereen left. I
- 38:17Speaker 1: think Pierre Strong is here to replace James White. Now,
- 38:20Speaker 1: whether he's able to do that this year or next,
- 38:22Speaker 1: I don't know. That goes back to Justin's point about
- 38:25Speaker 1: how good he is. He's not an in between the
- 38:27Speaker 1: tackles runner la Garrett Blunt is three times the size
- 38:30Speaker 1: of Pierre Strong. Like like, I didn't say they were
- 38:33Speaker 1: the same type of player. I just meant like getting
- 38:35Speaker 1: to the second level as it's being gone. Yeah, I
- 38:37Speaker 1: don't think that he's going to get to the second
- 38:39Speaker 1: level as a ball carrier. Very awesome. Let's face it,
- 38:41Speaker 1: when La Garrett Blunt got to the second level, it's
- 38:43Speaker 1: because the other team was way out of position, right,
- 38:46Speaker 1: and he had a clear view to the end zone
- 38:48Speaker 1: and it happened. But it wasn't because of his speed, right.
- 38:51Speaker 1: And I do think Pierre strong, and like I said,
- 38:56Speaker 1: on paper, he doesn't look like he's a fit in
- 38:59Speaker 1: the passing game. But you know, I'm gonna sort of
- 39:02Speaker 1: trust a little of the you know, the people that
- 39:05Speaker 1: I talk to on this a little bit that he
- 39:06Speaker 1: has some of these skills in his in his arsenal,
- 39:09Speaker 1: and he is improving as a pass protector. He has
- 39:12Speaker 1: soft hands, can run routes and do all those kinds
- 39:15Speaker 1: of things. And I do think Justin's right. He's electric.
- 39:18Speaker 1: I mean, he has elite, elite speed. So if you
- 39:21Speaker 1: could get this guy matched up on the edges, I
- 39:24Speaker 1: think he can make some big plays. I don't expect
- 39:26Speaker 1: that to happen between the tackles unless you're talking like
- 39:29Speaker 1: third and eight. We're gonna pop a draw here, and
- 39:31Speaker 1: then if if it opens to Fred's point, if it's
- 39:34Speaker 1: in guy's are out of position. Look out. I think
- 39:36Speaker 1: this guy's a home run hitter or big time. I
- 39:38Speaker 1: think he had something like, oh god, he had twenty
- 39:42Speaker 1: seven touchdowns or forty and more yards or something. I
- 39:45Speaker 1: forget the number now to have to go back and
- 39:46Speaker 1: look at my notes. But this guy is a home
- 39:48Speaker 1: run hitter if he's if you know, if he can
- 39:51Speaker 1: do it. Yeah, Patty's an agaham, what's up, Patty? What's
- 39:56Speaker 1: going on to the big guy? Hey, cousin Patty? It
- 40:00Speaker 1: was open? Uh. Fred I had a question about the
- 40:05Speaker 1: school work too afterwards, so I kind of wanted to
- 40:08Speaker 1: touch on what Paul was going off on on Thursday. Um,
- 40:12Speaker 1: how he's a little bit worried and objectively, I don't
- 40:16Speaker 1: know how you can look at how this and I'm
- 40:20Speaker 1: speaking more specifically with the defense, with the amount of
- 40:24Speaker 1: turnover that they've had coming into the season. How any
- 40:28Speaker 1: fan that that that hasn't been watching this team to
- 40:31Speaker 1: the last twenty years or more like a lot of
- 40:34Speaker 1: us have, um, wouldn't be worried about how this team's
- 40:39Speaker 1: gonna do, how this team is going to perform. Now
- 40:41Speaker 1: where I'm coming from, I do think Max gonna be good.
- 40:44Speaker 1: I think he's going to take that next step this year. Um,
- 40:47Speaker 1: he loves football. I mean maybe he he tops out
- 40:50Speaker 1: after this year or next year. But with just all
- 40:54Speaker 1: new linebackers coming in, Ums and let us week to know,
- 41:00Speaker 1: you only have two guys that have proven they can
- 41:02Speaker 1: get out of the quarterback, I don't know how you
- 41:04Speaker 1: can't be worried coming into the season. Yeah yeah, I
- 41:09Speaker 1: mean I'm with you. I'm with you. I mean, there
- 41:11Speaker 1: has to come a time that they were gonna have
- 41:13Speaker 1: to move on from Collins and those guys. And I think,
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know, a lot of us feel like, why did
- 41:17Speaker 1: we kind of go backwards last year? You kind of
- 41:19Speaker 1: had a chance. In twenty twenty, they have the reset
- 41:21Speaker 1: button to give some young guys a chance. And how
- 41:24Speaker 1: much did you really get out of that season? I
- 41:26Speaker 1: don't I don't think you got a lot. You kind
- 41:28Speaker 1: of went back to the old guys last year. And
- 41:30Speaker 1: you know, now it's you're you're right, you're tearing the
- 41:32Speaker 1: band aid off. I mean, these guys are you know,
- 41:34Speaker 1: draft picks. There are significant capital invested in them, and
- 41:37Speaker 1: there's certainly are guys we don't really know, you know,
- 41:40Speaker 1: had had it's just I think it's it's it's hard
- 41:43Speaker 1: because in one way, I think people just wanted them
- 41:45Speaker 1: to draft a new defense and put all these rookies in.
- 41:47Speaker 1: And I think they have some young guys and it's
- 41:50Speaker 1: not as sexy because they've been around a little bit.
- 41:52Speaker 1: And that's the part I like, you know, because I
- 41:54Speaker 1: expressed a lot of those concerns that that Patty was
- 41:57Speaker 1: talking about. It's it's the same theory I just used
- 41:59Speaker 1: with are Strong. It's don't draft you know, Josh Uch
- 42:03Speaker 1: and Ronnie Perkins and these guys now like the year
- 42:07Speaker 1: that Dante Hiitel is probably going to step away, and
- 42:10Speaker 1: Jamie Collins and Kyle Vanouia're gonna go. They've been here
- 42:13Speaker 1: a little bit now, Perkins's second year, Ja's third, you know, mcgroan.
- 42:18Speaker 1: You know, it was more of a red shirt kind
- 42:20Speaker 1: of situation. You have them in your system, they have
- 42:25Speaker 1: an idea of what they're expected to do, and now
- 42:27Speaker 1: you've got to find out if they can play right
- 42:29Speaker 1: and maybe one of those guys is the guy that
- 42:32Speaker 1: can get after the quarterback. Well, well you know that's
- 42:34Speaker 1: what you're hoping. I mean, you know, all valid questions
- 42:37Speaker 1: though Ben's and Maryland. What's up? Ben? Hey guys? Hey Ben?
- 42:42Speaker 1: How long have you been in Maryland? Yeah? We'll really
- 42:46Speaker 1: miss that. Yeah, I really enjoyed your article today about
- 42:51Speaker 1: the stadium. Oh great, we're all going to miss you.
- 42:54Speaker 1: So thank you. Um. I have two quick questions then
- 42:57Speaker 1: I'll take it off the air. If Nick Harry Um
- 43:00Speaker 1: went to the Packers, maybe in another team like that,
- 43:02Speaker 1: do you think he would be I legitimate? Why receive
- 43:05Speaker 1: with SUI? Was it like a Patriots only thing? And
- 43:08Speaker 1: my second one is kind of hypothetical. Um, if Bill
- 43:11Speaker 1: was to leave with Patriots right now, who would you
- 43:14Speaker 1: trust the most to take over his head coach? Um?
- 43:17Speaker 1: Someone already in the organizations? All right, thanks man. So
- 43:23Speaker 1: the first one, I do think that if Nikkila Harry
- 43:26Speaker 1: went to another team, he'd have a little bit more production,
- 43:30Speaker 1: but he still wouldn't be that good. I do think
- 43:32Speaker 1: so because because of the you know, I would agree
- 43:35Speaker 1: with that. Yeah, maybe, But I think I see the
- 43:37Speaker 1: same player I saw in college, and I don't think
- 43:39Speaker 1: he's gonna be able to separate. I don't think he
- 43:42Speaker 1: plays to his size. I think contesta catches are a problem.
- 43:45Speaker 1: I just I haven't seen, right. I like the way
- 43:48Speaker 1: Fred porton. I don't think he'd be any better, but
- 43:50Speaker 1: he'd probably have more catches, and maybe they wouldn't be
- 43:52Speaker 1: asking him to do all. His head wouldn't be swimming
- 43:55Speaker 1: in it, and he could maybe play. But I agree
- 43:57Speaker 1: with Fred, I don't think he'd be any better. Now.
- 43:59Speaker 1: If I had to pick one person who's existing on
- 44:02Speaker 1: the team, um, probably Mayo comes to mind. Yeah, but
- 44:10Speaker 1: it's between probably Mayo and Patricia, right, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 44:15Speaker 1: did you take anything? I think a couple of weeks ago,
- 44:17Speaker 1: there was like it looked like Mayo might have been
- 44:19Speaker 1: sitting with Robert Krafted at the Celtics game. I plugged
- 44:22Speaker 1: out a little bit. There were a lot of Patriots
- 44:25Speaker 1: at the Celtics game. I love that basketball Bruins too.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Bruins too. They like free tickets. I think that's that's
- 44:30Speaker 1: the word. I just one more thing on Harry. Though
- 44:33Speaker 1: we've watched him for three training camps, I've never seen
- 44:35Speaker 1: anything out of him that makes me seek can we
- 44:38Speaker 1: just get that onto the game field? Like everything is
- 44:40Speaker 1: looked the same as it does on the practice field.
- 44:42Speaker 1: It's not like there's this secret skill set that he
- 44:46Speaker 1: has that just doesn't come out like it's. It is
- 44:48Speaker 1: what it is at this point, so I'd be skeptical
- 44:51Speaker 1: that he would be that much better anywhere else. All Right,
- 44:53Speaker 1: we're gonna take a quick break. When we come back.

- 57:31Speaker 1: I gotta say one thing about the lip. I don't
- 57:35Speaker 1: know how you can have DC that high. The parking,
- 57:38Speaker 1: the parking, just the parking alone. I mean the stadium
- 57:41Speaker 1: already trashed, but the parking and take almost about an
- 57:45Speaker 1: hour just the fine parking and the park at the stadium.
- 57:48Speaker 1: You mean the stadium you're talking about at the stadium parking, Yeah,
- 57:52Speaker 1: at the stadium at Yeah, that's that's I mean, that's
- 57:56Speaker 1: a legit point because like we've always been, we drive,
- 57:59Speaker 1: we drive in with the convoy, so afect us. But yeah,
- 58:03Speaker 1: that's something to take into consideration. Obviously it's a dump.
- 58:06Speaker 1: It's a real thing. I will say from from from
- 58:09Speaker 1: from my experiences, from the stadiums I've been to. Number
- 58:13Speaker 1: one has got to be in New Orleans, just I mean,
- 58:16Speaker 1: and didn't the stadium and the experience alone and the
- 58:20Speaker 1: only don't stadium I've been to Denver. Then I did
- 58:24Speaker 1: like I did like going out Colorado. Denver was cool,
- 58:27Speaker 1: but I don't like the cold. I don't know, I
- 58:29Speaker 1: can't do the cold. But Denver, Denver was number two. Yep, yep, Okay,
- 58:35Speaker 1: Denver is a good trip, all right, but it does.
- 58:38Speaker 1: And can I talk about the schedule? Sure, um, I
- 58:43Speaker 1: didn't want Miami and then in the first week, but
- 58:46Speaker 1: I I mean, at least at least we get them
- 58:49Speaker 1: early and in Miami, so get it out the way,
- 58:52Speaker 1: you know, just like if you can't beat them in Miami,
- 58:55Speaker 1: then already know what type of season is going to be.
- 58:59Speaker 1: But the first full of games they all tough. I'm
- 59:02Speaker 1: least happy that's the home opener against the Ravens because
- 59:05Speaker 1: I'm definitely going to that is an early September game,
- 59:09Speaker 1: you're coming up. Okay, then you and then you got
- 59:12Speaker 1: the end of the season where that that Thanksgiving Vikings
- 59:16Speaker 1: game and then the Bills and then you got the
- 59:18Speaker 1: Bills to end the season. Yeah. So it's a lot
- 59:22Speaker 1: like last year. It's tough early, it's tough late. There's
- 59:24Speaker 1: a little softer spot in the middle. Yeah. Yeah, you
- 59:26Speaker 1: know what's fun. I think the softer spot in the
- 59:28Speaker 1: middle is smaller than it was last year. I didn't
- 59:30Speaker 1: notice this on Thursday night when I was putting it together,
- 59:33Speaker 1: but you know how we joked about how, oh what
- 59:35Speaker 1: the Browns getting to Shawn Watson. You can pencil that
- 59:37Speaker 1: in is one of the first six weeks or the
- 59:39Speaker 1: Patriots schedule week week six. Yeah. The only thing is
- 59:42Speaker 1: if he does get suspended for six weeks, yeah, there's
- 59:45Speaker 1: a chance you could appeal it and and being cut
- 59:47Speaker 1: down the flour. Yeah yeah, they were supposed to meet yesterday. Yeah,
- 59:54Speaker 1: what's that all that? I mean, even way with all that,
- 59:57Speaker 1: I still think I still think the Patriots, you know,
- 59:59Speaker 1: I still think they have a chance to at least
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: make a wild card. Yeah, I mean because maybe because
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: maybe nine and eight, nine and eight could get you
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: that Statler spot, especially looking at like how they got
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: to schedule like play style was like it's like certain
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: matchup that's like late in the season. So that could
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: be good for the Patriots. Hope springs eternal. H We're
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: gonna test the team theory this. I would think that
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: they should go into the shots. And I don't think
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: any Patriots fan would say they have no shot now
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: they why why not? They have to be in wild
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: card contention? Sure, Now I don't know. I don't think
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: nine and eight will get your wild card, but they
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: should be in contention for a wild card, right Yeah,
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: I mean I think you're gonna know right where you
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: stand at the end of the season with the four
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: AFC matchups with at Raiders, Bengals, Dolphins at Bills, and
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: you know, what's that Bills game gonna mean? Is it
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: for the division? Is it for a playoff spot or
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: the Bills resting starters? What does that look like? But
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: another you know time that Mac Jones and this offense
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: is gonna have to go to Buffalo in January and
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: have to win and in tough conditions and the whole
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: thing with the only one by two lessons, the likelihood
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: of someone being able to write to do that right,
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: still kind of scrambling for position, and yeah, let's go
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: to SPI and Fresno. Hey speed, Thank you for your service.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: Don Sclavno, Don Sclavan, I like that. That's what will

- 1:01:34Speaker 1: I don't know who's going to be around to agree

- 1:01:44Speaker 1: what I get criticized for. So I continue to try

- 1:01:48Speaker 1: a feather weekend, Um, Eric, I got a couple of
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: bullet points for you, just like the state of the
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: team influenced your decision to lead toss a bomb on
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: your way out? No, sir, no, it had that had
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: nothing to do with it. How do to watch losing

- 1:02:15Speaker 1: are you going to come back for a spelling off
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: later this summer? Oh? I don't know. We haven't discussed.
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: We haven't discussed that. All right, we'll see if we can, right, Yeah,
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: you got I gotta go with you. Know the current
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: current rates. It must have obviously Nope. And for hop Off,
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I just want to know because like a couple, you're
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: gonna this uh this list you came you came up with. Yeah,
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: it says perfect as it combines your interest in like
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: travel and sitting in judgment. Good speed us well speed
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: brought today. I gotta I gotta tell you if spe
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: if there were thirty three, Fresno would be thirty third
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: on the list. I couldn't disagree with you there, but
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: I want to here, what do you rank or the
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: seventh states in New England? But your what's your first
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: in your work? Well there are six, first of all,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: not seven, but rank the rank the Sixthland state? You
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: just got ratio boom, Yeah, there are six New England,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: sixth New England, not seven six And someone Connecticut, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: that's six right, No, I know, um, I would say, oh,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: you're right, yeah, of course, thanks. Sorry, he's both the
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: plug on his own right, thanks embarrassed himself. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: Connecticut's got it's its feet in two six. The areas
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: here they're part of the tri state area of New York.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: They want to be England, Southern New York six place. No,
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: no debate on Connecticut sixth place, because there's really nothing
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: else to do in Connecticut either. It's really not much
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: to do. Yeah, the casino is like the big thing there. Yeah,
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: you got your insurance in Hartford. Mystic Aquarium, Yeah, the
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: Mystic Pizza Lime disease. Great. I like connect that's where
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: the name came. That's right. Better than New Hampshire. But six,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: I would say, I would say New Hampshire too. You're
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: a big main guy too. Maine is big. Yeah. I
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: like Maine Main three, Connecticut four, Rhode Island, five, Vermont Vermont.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: I all due respect to your academy, but in all
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: you all you like fishing and skiing. Vermont Vermont is right. Yeah,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: it depends on what you like. Totally smoke like fish
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: like I spent my summers. I spent my summers in
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: uh In matt gets me in uh In Portland, Maine,
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: in the Portland, Maine area. So Maine has a soft
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: spot in my heart. I might have New Hampshire a
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: little higher in the list. I was gonna say that
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: Hillbilly Highway. Yeah, I think, I don't know. I think
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: Rhode Islands too, I got I got Yeah, Providence, good food, Yeah, beaches, Newport, Yeah, Newport,
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: the beaches, Newport, the food up the hills. But just
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: because like southern Connecticut is more New York doesn't mean
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: Connecticut doesn't have anything going for it. But what does
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Connecticut have going for it? I don't know. It's like exactly,
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: it's it's it's an insurance in Connecticut. There are some
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: states that have passed through states, like you get Connecticut
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: is how you get to New York, totally right, you know, right,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: And it's hard to get Like getting to Hartford. There's
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: no easy way to get to Hartford. You're all back
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: roads are small like Interstate Highway had Tike. Did you
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: say Hartford Hartford? Hartford is a direct route like Pike days. Well,
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: if you live in Massachusetts, you live in Rhode Island,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: you gotta go in Rhode Islands. Hey, it's number two
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: states on our list right here. And I just said,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: I originally had it at five and I rethought it,
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: so I might have them a little too low. I'm
- 1:05:52Speaker 1: not sure I'm ready to put them too. Yeah, I
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: think I thought about putting them too, but I'm not sure.
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: The Rhode Islands lock it in the Rhode Island Sea Shore.
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: It's rated. Oh, I mean they probably called the Ocean
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: State after under rated. They do have they do have
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: some nice beep And then you know in Newport it's
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: probably the best. Yeah, and then Providence most urbane. It's
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: a good little city. You know, um it is city, right,
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: so it's one of the twenty seven places you've lived,
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: that's right. So I was born there. I think it's
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: a great city because it's got good food. You've got
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: some sports teams there. I mean, not the pass socks anymore,
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: but yeah, you can't. You could get big city living
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: without having the big city. We definitely dropped the ball
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: with the pass socks thing. They should have been able
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: to keep the pass socks in Rhode Island. There's no
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: reason that. Don't you think of the New England Revolution
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: moving to Providence. I think that'd be that'd be a great,
- 1:06:45Speaker 1: uh consolation prize to losing the pass socks. They are
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: that Pawtucket wants to build. You know when when we
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: take the ninety five and we go through the s curve,
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: yes curves, and there's that old Apex building. Ye there.
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: They have plans to redevelop that area and they are
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: build building a soccer stadium, a soccer only stadium there, um,
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: and they're trying to lure a team, probably like one
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: of those NASL, those secondary American soccer leagues. But if
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: the Revs wanted to move there, come on down. Yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: they were talking about put McCoy there, if they if
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: they exactly they originally wanted to put the pass Sox
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: downtown where the old ninety nine five was, and the
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: governor at the time and the uh the Speaker of
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: the House where at odds and that plan fell through
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: and then the guy who was actually in charge of
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: the pass Sox suddenly died, so that kind of put
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: that plan to the so they would have been downtown.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: They would have been called the pro Socks. And then
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: when that fell through, the Patucket came back in and
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: was like, Hey, we're gonna make a big push for
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: the Apex area and build the stadium there. That's not open,
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: is no, that's been vacant for yeah, but you always
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: see cars there. Yeah, I know, that's weird. It's been
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: a local barbecues in the parking lot. Yeah, some locals
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: use it for like yeah this things probably, but yeah,
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: but that could use a little revitalize. You want to
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: consider it? Consider it all right, Let's get to some
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: emails web radio at Patriots dot com, Suliman in the
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Bay Area. Uh. Some quick thoughts on the schedule. First,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: he uh, he likes the placement of the buy being
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: in week ten. I agree. Uh. Second, Bill always says
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: you need to be playing the best ball after Thanksgiving. Well,
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: looking at the games after Thanksgiving out, that's a rough
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: slate of games with the Bills twice, the reigning AFC champ, Bengals,
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: Dolphins in back to back out West games. We know
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: what type of team we have before or we'll know
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: what type of team will have before the end of December,
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: and games I'm looking forward to the most in no
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: water in non division games Bears due to the fields
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: versus Matt Jones talk the Patriots had post twenty twenty
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: one draft raiders for obvious reasons. In Bengals as a
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: measuring stick, Yeah, I mean, I agree with you. I
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: would say the last couple of years it hasn't been
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: like that, and if it's again not like that this year,
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know. The Cardinals by that point.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: Kyler Murray probably dinged up. They're probably like, something's probably
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: wrong by the end of the playing the Patriots. You know,
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: that's one, but you know, and who knows what the
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Raiders are going to be with Josh. But but I
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: think the Bengals obviously went to the Super Bowl last year.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: The Dolphins have beaten you four out of the last
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: five times, and the Bills have you know, done what
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: the Bills have done? Booked this lead pipe lock Jarrett
- 1:09:31Speaker 1: stood him versus Mac Jones December in Vegas. Okay, yeah,
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: I've always worked out for the Patriots. I think the
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Green Bay game is you know, a good, good measuring stick.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: I assume, I mean, maybe like some people don't think
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: that they're going to be any good the Packers, but
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: I always assume that they'll figure it out if they
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: if they have one of those years where they don't
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: and they can't figure it out, then okay, then I'll
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: have been wrong. But I'm not going to assume you
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: won't know going in the week four. You might they
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: might have lost a game or two, but even last year,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: remember that first time. But I think that they'll still
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: be formidable as long as he's playing. I mean, even
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: Tom Brady's worst years here, Patriots were tough out you
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: know they sure? Yeah, And the only way to like
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: the Packers, I would say they. I mean they don't
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: have Belichick, so like I think Belichick was able to
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: get by with less. I don't know if the Packers
- 1:10:20Speaker 1: will have that ability to do it, but I think
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: they will, and I think they'll win, you know, eleven
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: twelve games like they always do, you know somehow. Yeah, Um,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: Mike and Maryland. Congratulations to Eric. He'll be missed, but
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: he knows a year too early is better than a
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: year too late. Amen, we need a cut of the
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: all time Eric drops. Please effort that marine corps. I'm
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: sure he's already on it corporate speed. I hope this
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: departure the free agency sends a clear message to football
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: operations and ownership uh lock in the young core of
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: PU signing bonuses their own trainer on the team, diet
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: Coakes Millers on the sideline. Is there anyone else we
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: want to be leading uh PU than the King of content?
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: Fred kursh No need to pause in this one, Paul,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: and like Belichick, adamant no what nobody reads an email?
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: Whatever it takes, mister Kraft, Patriots and Filter the longest
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: reigning active Patriots dynasty. That's true, started before the dynasty started,
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: started before podcasts. Yeah, the first one, I know, what
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: did you call it on? Just radio patternet IP radio?
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: We called it Patriots dot com Radio right from the
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: start and it was IP radio. Well, what a conversation
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: that must have been those I imagine Paul No Offense
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: being like, what, we're on the we're radio show, We're
- 1:11:38Speaker 1: on the internet. How does that work? Now? I mean,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: I wouldn't have known. I was in I didn't know
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: exactly what at all. I still don't know exactly. But
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: when we started doing it, it was it was like
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: the greatest thing that we did. We had so much fun.
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: That was when Brian and I usedould just go at
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: it every day. It was great and there's just now
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: go back then, right, kind of model it after radio,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: but it wasn't. No FCC did right, so you could
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: say whatever, and we had much like we do now.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: We had a former EI producer who kind of started
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: us and got us going. Yeah, what was the Patriots
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Cyber Sideline show? Well, that was a video video show
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: that was a nightly that was the that was the
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: first made for the Internet nightly video show. Yeah, basically
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: Fred used to anything. Fred used to describe that as
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: like a nightly newscast on just the Patriots. So if
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: someone wanted to see what happened that day to the Patriots,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: they'd be able to click on this watch what a
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: five minute yeah show maybe, and you'd be up to
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: up to speed on everything that was the Patriots. And
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: at the time, Brian and I used to have to
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: be like reporters on that show, so we would have
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: to put together like our own package. I had no
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: idea what I was doing. I was like, Frien, I
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: don't know, I'm Carolyn Jones. That's okay, cyber Sideline. I
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: mean I came to it. I was into it, man,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: like oh six Brian Lowe, I mean the training camp ones.
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: Those would always be I mean reading block servations and
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: you know everybody else wrote, but you know the Brian
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: low I remember waiting for it to like be released,
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: you know, and being on California time and what happened.
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: I want to see some shots of the guys and
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: I Brian, we would do the little deep brief sun
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: those Andy and I would alternate, and you know, and
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: that wasn't even before we started doing the training camp podcasts, Yeah,
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: which became part of So we also had a show
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: that emanated from the old club at the old Fox
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: World Stadium, and it was called I think it was
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: called uh Patriots Cyber Cafe or something like that, or
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: was it Patriots Cafe Patriots Cafe, and we would we
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: would record it or do it live during the team's
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: lunch and they would eat up there, and so we
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: would just pull players over from the Don Lowry who
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: was the PR guy ran the show, and he would
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: pull guys over and and it was just like live
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: conversations with guys during their lunch. It was great. That
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: would never happen today, but that would be so fun
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: to just get a random pop in by like Kendrick Bourne, like,
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: you know what, we're doing the show, Like here, all
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: of a sudden he comes walking in. You know, it's funny, dude.
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: When we were in Indie for the Super Bowl, the
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: way we had it set up for our radio show,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: we were in this tiny little hallway in between where
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: we were our offices were and where Football Ops offices were.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: And remember we were doing that show and Paul and
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: I were starting in on some argument about some particular player,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: and all of a sudden that player's position group came
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: out of their meeting and they walked through right past
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: our thing, and they're watching us arguing about this particular guy,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: and we're like yeah, and then they walked by, they left,
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: and were just continued on. But it was and then
- 1:14:47Speaker 1: they moved us the next day they moved us. Oh
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: really yeah. Facts. The closest thing was, was it Dorset
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: that was on the bike when we were when we
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: were in Tennessee. That was another one. We started talking
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: and I was like yeah, but Deuce was there for
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: like two days and these Douce was not a big
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: fan of It's true. Philip Dors said, you never say
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: anything to him then, did you? No? No, no, I was.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I was still thinking about Derek Henry. Oh that's true.
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: Chutters in Manchester. My personal favorite Eric moments were the
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: discussions about his watermark photos and extracts from his book
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: available to buy it. Yes it is, Oh no, no
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: it's not. You should self publish it. Just get it
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: out there. I'm not going to pay a publisher to
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: publish mine. Don't have to just put it up on Amazon.
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: I don't think you have to pay anything. There's a way.
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: My sister is now on telling you what is right.
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: It's like horror stuff. So how does Joe? Can you
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: monetize it in any way? Yeah? Yeah, how does that work?
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: People download it and they pay and you get a cut. Yeah,
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: but it's only a digital, it's not a hard copy.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: It's a digital. There's a way to do hard copy too,
- 1:15:51Speaker 1: I would yeah, yeah, there's a way. You could definitely
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: do it. So how do you get people to want
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: to download it? Well, you start with your circle of
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: friends and then they download it and you encourage them
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: to do give us reviews. Yeah, and then you know yeah.
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: So doesn't sound like my fallback plan for all the
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: jokes and jobs over the years. I do wish Eric
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: well and hope he has a lot of fun on
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: his new adventures, whatever they may lead. He's done some
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: fantastic deep interviews and pieces with Patriots players. I look
- 1:16:21Speaker 1: forward to the launch of his new podcast with Andy.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: But that would be good that the odd people wouldn't
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: listen to that. Think. Yeah, back to football, and I'm
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: still very much intrigued to know what RKK and Jonathan's
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: behind the scenes thoughts are in the draft. After all,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: they said about the failures of the past five years,
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: to then drop down and draft a widely graded Day
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: two guard, it almost feels like that was a direct
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: reply from the head of the table to them. Well,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I mean, I get why everyone's upset, but I think
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: you can't if you're a manager. I don't think you
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: can make decisions based on they didn't pick the guys
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: you liked, Like, you have to kind of see these
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: guys play and see what they are. I mean, if
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: they all flame out, then you know, sure, But I
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: don't get the theory on that. Admittedly, a lot of
- 1:17:10Speaker 1: these um lost, A lot of these get lost on me,
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: But like, how exactly is it a shot from Belichick
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: to the Crafts to take someone who's right rated different
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: I'm gonna, I'm gonna, I'm gonna sabotage my own team. Yeah,
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: so he wants to criticize my draft tot Like, how
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: does that work? Cut off your exactly? That's what that is.
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: He took the guy he thought was the best option, right,
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: I mean, can we I mean, can we assume that, Yeah,
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: you can. You can argue it could have been a
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: different guy and that they took him too soon. But
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I mean they needed him. But I'm not even arguing that.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: Let's just say, for whatever reason they took this guy, Like,
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: what's in it for Bill to say, Oh, you want
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: to criticize my drafts, I'll show you. I'll just I'll
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: take that. I'll take this guy that I don't even
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: do that. I'll take this guy I don't even want.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: I'll have a bad draft. So now next year he
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: can say three years in a row, like why, I
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: don't know what's in it for him? Right? What's in
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: it for Bill? That was really funny. Um Anthony says Eric,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: mister Corksniffer, you will be missed and I wish you
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: all the best in your Somalian career. That's not not
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: the word. I don't think. It's not what I thought
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: it was the Africa book in Africa. Yeah, that's what
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: he wrote. In viewing the schedule, this year could be
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: a rough year. I could legitimately see the team starting
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: owen four. The team will need to be at their
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: best right out of the gate, and it doesn't get
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: much respite in the middle with the Colson Bill um
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: R T E. Sandwiching, resting, um sandwiching some potentially easier matchups.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: Here's hoping we get some classic always works out for
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: the Patriots breaks. I think you'll get a few of those.
- 1:18:52Speaker 1: But I don't see anything you can pencil in right now.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: I really don't. I think you have the Jets twice
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: and who else in Detroit Browns maybe without Detroit the Bears.
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: That's as close as you can get at the Jets.
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: Uh at home. I won't even pencil win the one
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: at new Yeah, because I do think they'll be a
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: little better. They should be UM three first round picks
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: then they I think that. I think one Jets game
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: in the Detroit game, they played Detroit at home? Right Uh? Yes, yeah,
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: I can't see them losing Detroit at home. Um Jack says,
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: for crying out loud, how can Detroit be ranked below Buffalo?
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: Detroit has great ethnic food, is the home of Motown,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: and by its connection to Windsor, Ontario, hosts the busiest
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: open border in the world. Who would not want to
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: visit Windsor Well. I again, I took a lot of
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: things into consideration on my list, and one of the
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: things for Buffalo was I do have a soft spot
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: for Buffalo, having been there more than a dozen times
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: throughout the years. UM, but I would if I were
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: going on that trip as a fan, I wouldn't necessarily
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: stay in Buffalo. I would go maybe either to Toronto
- 1:20:05Speaker 1: or the Finger Lakes region of New York, which both
- 1:20:07Speaker 1: of which I mentioned in my little blurb about Buffalo.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: So you just go to Buffalo for the game, and
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: you're not even in Buffalo. You're an Orchard Park, which
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: is a suburb, So you stay in the surrounding area,
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: which there's a lot of like beautiful countryside up in
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: that area, and you could go north of the border,
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: and then you drive in for the game, You go
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: to the game, and then you continue on on your way.
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: So it's similar to Detroit. Ironic that Eric's getting more
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: attention for his writing as his leaving and that was
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: a big piece. Though you put all it was, I
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: put a lot of I worked on it all offseason.
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: Well the other part, I don't know how you guys
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: feel about this. I mean, Eric obviously has a lot
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: of different factors that he weighed in. But I'm looking
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: at like the city where you know what I'm going
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: to do in the city and then the stadium in
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: the game itself, it's pretty much pretty much no no.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: But like for Detroit, like the fact that it's close
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: to Windsor, like, I don't know, like that, I don't
- 1:21:00Speaker 1: know if all those things back, what can I do
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: when I'm there? Right? And I suppose you could do
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: all of those things, but I'm not necessarily I don't know.
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: Maybe other people look like to me, Nashville, right, I can,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: but Buffalo, like that's traveling too far all those things
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: you mentioned. That's kind of like I'm gonna go. You know,
- 1:21:18Speaker 1: we're gonna go to Indianapolis and you know, the day
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: before we're gonna take a helicopter to Michigan. You know,
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: like that doesn't count, right, Well, that's kind of what
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: I was getting at with. And you can get to
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: Toronto easily from Buffalo. You can get to Windsor easily
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: from Detroit. I'm not suggesting that these are like deal breakers.
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: It's not that hard. But for me, it's more like
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: I can be in my hotel and walk to you know,
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: twenty seven incredibly fun looking bars in Nashville that Mike
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: and I I think sample twenty four of them, and
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: you know, Matt and I, you know, we're out ripping
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: it up. It was great. We had a great time
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: in Nashville and Buffalo. To me, it would be more
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: like that's kind of like like bar food, Like that's
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: what I want to eat, Like I don't need like
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: a fancy, you know, five star meal. Like give me
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: some Buffalo wings, give me some beers, and I'm good. Well,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: and Buffalo there's like eighteen places for that. I'm glad
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: that's a good trip. I'm glad you brought that up
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: whole because I also in my lead and I explained
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: too that not every football fan is the same. You know,
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: there are rich football fans. There are you know, more
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: frugal football fans poor football fans. So I try to
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: include a lot of different suggestions for people of different
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: budgets and different tastes. So, you know, I included things
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: like the Fingerlakes region for people who want to do
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: that kind of thing, like people who have kids, Like
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: people who have kids aren't going to go to Vegas
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: for a week and be you know, lightening it up
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: till three in the morning, you know. So I mean
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: there are certain trips where if you're taking a fan
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: judge my parental skills. No, but like seriously, like duce,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: if you and Lane and kids wanted to go on
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: a right trip and it's so specific, you're not going
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: to be doing the things you would do if it
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: was just you in Lane right and and but I mean,
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: I mean, I guess I come from a place, so
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: how many people take like full family trips. It's more
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: for a football game. It's more about like your buddies,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: you want to have you go to Miami and stay,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: you know, go to the beach. Sure, but I'm just
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: saying I'm just trying to put it out there for like,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: let's say you have a school vacation weekend. You're like, well,
- 1:23:09Speaker 1: we don't really we can't really fly anywhere, but we
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: we live driving distance to like Upstate New York. Let's
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: spend a week in Upstate New York. Oh, there happens
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: to be a Bills game going on. Let's sidetrack to that.
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: You know. It's just, yeah, that's all everybody's perspective. I
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: mean for me, I just I want to be able
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: to get into a city. I don't want to have
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: to run a car or drive very far. I want
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: to be close to good restaurants, and I want to
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: be close to the stadium. And if I can do
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: all those things and get a little bit of a
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: sampling of the area, the culture that that's there, that's great.
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: But um, I get in, I get out, you know,
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: And that's why I'm with Scattle perfect. Mike is right.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: Mike Gerkin writes in the ground, A lot of these
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: people coming out the woodwork Eric, they're all here to yeah,
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: coming out. I figured, with Eric moving on, I should
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: share the story that I have been holding onto for
- 1:23:55Speaker 1: a while. I'm a long time listener, but rarely get
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: a chance to write or listen live. But my first
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: day email to you guys was way back in two
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: thousand and one. Yeah, the opening the opening song for
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: the podcast was a little less Conversation by Elvis. IM
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: not sure why I still remember that. Anyway, My story
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: is an Eric's story. I want Eric to know I'm
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: a fan of his, especially these past few seasons. I
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: know he got off to a rough start on the
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: pod with his punt stats, but his pomposity has always
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: been a good part of the show. At points throughout
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: his time on the show, you have referenced him as
- 1:24:29Speaker 1: est Gal. Now what I heard was East Gal, and
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: I was impressed that he was so comfortable with what
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: I perceived was his sexuality, and that his issues with
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: Andy's stemmed from his joking about it. It was not
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: until after this Christmas this year, when I got a
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: nice set of headphones, that I realized it was indeed
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: Escal and not east Gal, and it cleared up all
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: those confusing conversations you have had about Eric's love life
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: over the years. North Gale, it was any scale, Fred,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: can you think off the top of your head, out
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: of all the trips that we've taken, which one you
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: had the most fun at? Non super Bowl? Who most fun?
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: That Indie one? That night we all with the we
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: were part of the marketing, uh, all the marketing reception.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: That was the one where you and Brian were afraid
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: to show up the next day and he came in
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: and said, all hung over. Me and Brian had our
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: heads on the desk and then we were like we
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: got to avoid Fred. And Fred came over and told
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: us how drunk he was. And it's like the greatest thing.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: I mean, when it was opened, Billy Ognens and Buffaloes
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: were some of the best meals I've ever had, and
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: those were good. That made the trip. There was a
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: year and I forget which one it was that we
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: went down to Miami and on a Friday, I remember, Yeah,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: we went early, and I remember m Brian and I
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: went out. We were at the hotel. We went out
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: by the pool and we're just kind of hanging out
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: and William McGinnis came over and just ripped us a
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: new one, Like, you two are going to sit here
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: by the pool when Fort lar you got the whole
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: You could go anyway you want. You're like ten minutes away.
- 1:26:02Speaker 1: What is wrong with you? And like we went back
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: up to our rooms and we were sam and we
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: were we were out for the day. Completely ripped it
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: up that night in Fort Lauderdale. That was far and
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: away the most fun I've had on that day on
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: the beach that we had. That was a fun day too. Yeah,
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: that was great. That's the one I was just thinking
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: of because that was actually twenty fourteen. Week one at Miami.
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: We went down on a Friday for a one o'clock
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Sunday game to get used to the heat. Yeah, and
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: we had an all day Saturday and we just that
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: was on the beach. That was a different one because
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: I wasn't at the No, you weren't in that one,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: but we did that similar kind of We were right
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: across from the beach. We just walked across from that.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: It was Yeah, that was a good day. Yeah. And
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: the Arizona trip that yeah, we went on the Thursday
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: was pretty It wasn't on that. That was the Lonnie
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: Paxton game. Yeah, oh right, can't talk. I'll talk about
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: that one on the air. I remember, I remember bit
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: off color. Yeah, Barton Poland just wanted to say that
- 1:26:57Speaker 1: the fact that other teams got creative, this is about
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: the schedule releasally, other teams got creative and spent a
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: lot of time and money for their schedule release videos,
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: and we got Ernie in a whiteboard was epic. Doesn't
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: get better than Ernie. Also, good luck to Eric in
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: his future endeavors. He was a great part of the show.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: And we'll be missed. Who will make football? Yes, football
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: as in kicking the ball into the net references? Now,
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: can I just say to bart right there was bart
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: thank you for like getting it for lack of a
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: better way, like we have done that in the past,
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: We've put a lot of production value, in a lot
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: of thought and effort, and we went intentionally ironic. Yea.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: We went in a different direction this year and had
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: an opportunity to do something with Ernie and Bart like
- 1:27:41Speaker 1: I think just summarized it perfectly. Yeah. The original concept,
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: Oh yeah, a little scene was it was gonna be
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: either Ernie, Ivan and Dante or a combination of that
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: three sitting in rocking chairs and retirement, you know, just
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: announcing the Green Square. But um uh, Dante was out
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: of town. I didn't he didn't want to do it,
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: and so but you know, of the three, you would
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: think Ernie would be the least likely he would like
- 1:28:11Speaker 1: love to participate, you know, he was great. I just
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: loved the little bits and they're very subtle, but just
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: a little bit of a nod of how they look
- 1:28:19Speaker 1: at the schedule when it comes out, you know, mentioning
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: the toughness of the ravens uh you know, Miami having
- 1:28:25Speaker 1: a player nicle. Just the little things that you know,
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: I know, as reporters and people who watch it, you
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: asked them about and they always kind of downplay it.
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: But I thought it gave a little bit of just
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: a little bit of insight, even as something as as
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: obvious as the week ten by Yeah, right right where
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: you want it, you know. Like my favorite part was
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: where he gets the first Buffalo games. You're wondering where
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: Buffalo is, Well, here they are. I love Yeah, pink stripes,
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: Easter eggs in there. Oh yeah, we put it right
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: on the board. Okay, Annie wore pink stripe, sir. Yeah,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: he's good. I mean a lot of a lot of
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: other team was put in a ton of effort and yeah,
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: you know, and the Chargers. I'm not saying that that's wrong.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: What do you really get it had an anime uh, cartoonists,
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: artists and on staff like they do. I think we
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: would have done that too. Doing nothing that was just
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: give me a little time next year. I think they've
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: had like five cartoons only sexy. Where have I heard
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: that before? You know? Um yeah, So no disrespect of
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: the teams that went all out. I think it's great.
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: Yeah to TJ, who does like anime, was like your son, Yeah,
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: my son was going to pointing out all the different
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: anime stuff. Yeah, you know, it's I mean, that's it was.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: There were a lot there were a lot of I mean,
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: I think we appreciated the little easter eggs that they
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: put in making fun of all the teams. Oh yeah,
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: they're they're not to the Jaguars. Was hilarious. You saw that.
- 1:29:49Speaker 1: I heard about it. Yeah, that was very I couldn't
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: bring himself to watch. No, I have to watch it
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: again because now that people mentioned it. I didn't notice
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: it the first time because it was happening. It was.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: It was sneak hilarious. The approval process, like for the Chargers,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: who has to go through the use to make sure
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: everything's okay the Cleveland. Yeah, but I think that in
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: that case, the Jaguars are probably like good right, you
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: know that's what we think too. Yeah, yeah, um Joe
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: and Orlando. Eric just pulled a gronk on us. Where
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: is the team going to find a suitable replacement in
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: May and June? In all seriousness, best wishes to Eric.
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: The show has been lucky to have you all these years.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: I hope whatever comes next is great. Ah, thank you.
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I hope so too. Yep, A lot of well wishers. Yeah, yeah, surprisingly,
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I thought I was gonna get ripped a lot more,
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: but maybe that's theirs. You would have gotten a lot
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: already except for you blocked everybody. Yeah, it's a good point.
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: They're not in my life. Thanks. I don't need that.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I don't need that in my life, uh Neil writes
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: in Schedule Release Day. You can have Ernie Adams read
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: the games off a whiteboard while providing obvious weather predictions.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Or you can have the work of art that was
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: the La Charges video talk about taking smack? Are talking
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: smack in Japanese. I'm kind of disappointed we weren't playing them, because,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: let's be honest, there's a lot of low hanging fruit
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: to poke fun of. When it comes to the Patriots,
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: we were also crushed by the Giants and many other teams.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: We need to draft better media content personnel. I for one,
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: blame Bill GM Bill. It's not coach's Bill's fault. Okay, no,
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: blame me, absolutely no. But are we are we ever
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: gonna be? If you don't like it, blame me right. Well,
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: if we're gonna be, are we gonna be ones to
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: go around and rakle everybody's feathers and have little trolls
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: of everybody else? I don't know, but you didn't have
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: to do that like we've done, like We've done things
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: with that kind of production value without oh yeah, without
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: like ruffling feathers and making fun of it. I think
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: that's what he was complaining about, that we didn't. We didn't.
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: We're not like rattle cages. We're not going to do that.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: I'm sure you guys are bumped about Thanksgiving here Canada,
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: we call it extra Football Day plus four consecutive primetime
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: games to Paul give his resignation. Yet I had anywhere
- 1:32:00Speaker 1: to go. I don't have the guts that Eric has
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: to just up and leave. Also for this month, Miami
- 1:32:08Speaker 1: in Week one, but ninety minute postgame shows that month.
- 1:32:12Speaker 1: I'm sick of Miami in Week one. But Mike can't complain,
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: as it has been his anthem. How do we stack
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: up against the Dolphins? What do you think are the
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: toughest three games stretch we have the in the season.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: To me, it's games fifteen, sixteen, and seventeen. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: that's no idea. I mean, Buffalo at Arizona at Vegas,
- 1:32:30Speaker 1: that's a tough stretch. I mean, just give me the
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: last three. I mean, if because if you're if you're
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: on the edge, if you're on the bubble, for the playoffs,
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: and then you gotta be you know, you're you're you're
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: traveling games and then and then you got three really
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: good teams. I mean, I think it's a The Dolphins
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: is a really interesting test ride out of the gate
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: of I mean, they do have a new coach, so
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: I think there's something to be said for the beeflow
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: factor with them in the last few years and how
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: they got up and how they prepared and you know,
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: no disrespect to Mike McDaniel, why, you know, I think
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: as a breath of fresh air. Um, I'm very curious
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: to see how he does. And I wish they weren't
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: in our division because I want him to do well. Yeah,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: I want somebody different to do well. Yeah. They just
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: signed Melvin Ingram too, right, Oh did they? I didn't
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: see that really, So I we'll see. I mean, you're
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: gonna get a great barometer right out of the gate.
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: You got a team that's in your division that's really
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: kind of handled you of the last couple of years.
- 1:33:21Speaker 1: I mean, I know, the opener last year was was close,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: and the Patriots you know, had it in their grasp,
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: but a fumble unfortunately kind of probably cost him the game.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: So I mean, it's it's a good opportunity to get
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: right on track at a division road win. Arguably the
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: second hardest game that you're gonna have to play in
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: the division. But you know you're gonna have to be
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: on and ready to go right out of the gate
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: with that schedule. I mean, and you know, even the
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: Steelers and the Ravens. I mean, I said to Paul,
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: sometimes I look at these through the lens of like
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: this was the old Brady Patriots. And even in that regard,
- 1:33:50Speaker 1: you know, if they were the old those those were
- 1:33:53Speaker 1: still just tough general teams that have always kind of
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: been playing and it's tough to play down there in September.
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: I think that's a big you know, playing them really
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: early and really late in Miami, I think is is different.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: And I think if you look at the I don't
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: have the numbers in front of me, but I think
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: this September record, I think they're like two and two
- 1:34:12Speaker 1: and two or or two and four in September or
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: something like that. And the two wins were both Monday
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: night games, oh in Miami, which which is mitigated a
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: little bit. It's still hot and human, but it doesn't
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: like the sun beaten down on. I'd like to know
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: overall what Miami's record is their first home game, like, oh,
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: you know anybody time? Yeah, you know, I bet you
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: it's pretty good. Yeah, um, Bill and Bowsman's last year.
- 1:34:36Speaker 1: I assume this will come up pretty quick. Today. I'm
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: gonna miss Eric. I hope he's gonna be okay and
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: enjoy his new adventure. Also, I hope Fred replaces him
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: with another intellectually minded individual. Good luck, Escal, Thank you.
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: I don't think they meet make them like Scale anymore. No,
- 1:34:54Speaker 1: went away with a Scots. Speaking of acts, I had
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: last week, it's your ascot, that's all right. Yeah, and uh,
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: it wasn't so bad. Yeah, it wasn't so bad. It
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: was to feel refreshed when you woke up. I actually
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: felt refreshed after the treatment that you have to do beforehand,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: because you get you get completely, like drained out of everything.
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: That was the first time in my life I've ever
- 1:35:20Speaker 1: done that. Yeah, but I I had like a short
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: term amnesia when I woke up from the procedure, and
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: by the time I got home, I remember very little
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: about that time period. Yeah, right, I remember almost nothing
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: about what happened when you're not supposed to remember the procedure.
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: I don't remember the procedure at all. And then I
- 1:35:39Speaker 1: remember being awake afterwards, being given like apple juice and
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: some crackers or something, and then I remember walking out
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: the door to my mother's car. She came to pick
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: me up. I don't remember the drive home. I remember
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: unlocking the door to my house, having a little bit
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: of breakfast, and then I sat down in my chair
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: in my living room, and three hours later I woke
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: up and that's when everything had worn off. But they
- 1:36:07Speaker 1: I'm glad I did the test because they did find
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: a little something there. So but they said not to worry.
- 1:36:13Speaker 1: It's not but it's just a little polyp. Yeah, so
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: something that's something to consider for either down the road.
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: And they always find something like that, like I have
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: a little diverticulitis. But it's like it's okay, it's the
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: only one here who hasn't met doctor jelly fingers. What
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: position do they get you him? When they're getting you ready,
- 1:36:31Speaker 1: when they're getting your your side, you're on your side.
- 1:36:33Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay, yeah, just trying to get getting them
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: right place for it. I know my time is coming. Yeah,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: you should you should do it. I mean you're you're
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: over forty five now, right, Yeah, that's when they tell
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: you now you should, especially within the recent years with
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: U Chad Chadwick Boseman, the actor who died of it,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: because it's so preventable that they want you to get
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: it early, as early as possible with so they can
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: detect it, get it. I'm really surprised with my diet
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: over my life. It's not ridiculous in there, just you know,
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: like stalactites, you know, bats, you know, those are the
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: ones on the top of the bottom, you know, Yeah,
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: like it. I just figured it should be a mess
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: with all the red meat, I mean cheese, you know. Yeah,
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: I don't know. Surprise it's not a messing there. Well,
- 1:37:29Speaker 1: you know, like you wake up and you're like, give
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: me the news, doc, and I know it's bad. Just
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: give it to me straight. Like you eat all these
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: you know, like me, all the red, heavy, heavy, oily, greasy,
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: you name it fried me too, you know. Yeah, but
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: you were okay, right, you guys both had them recently. Yeah,
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: so you're both okay. I've had I've always had I've
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: always had the um belief, and I know It's not
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: true that if you start something early in life, like
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: eating bad, your body gets used to it and you
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: can handle it. Is when you start later, then your
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: body freaks out and you get sick. You know, So
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: start smoking and drinking when you're think there's a lot
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: of alcoholics that would disagree with that. Smoke when you're ten,
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: and then you know, develop a resistance to Oh yeah,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: I know I'm not being true. But you do hear
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: about people who are like ninety, they smoked all their lives? True,
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: what's your secret? And cigarettes everything? You don't know of
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: a lot of those people. That's true. It's very rare.
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: You hear about the one right, Yeah, you've now you've
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: got those commercials with those people who are all difficulties,
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: and you don't see a lot of grossly overweight ninety
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: year olds and you don't see a lot of change.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: That's true. You go to those nursing homes, they're not fat, yeah,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: which means not long for this world. You don't smoke,
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: that's true. Yeah, you've never smoked, have you? No? Not
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: not cigarettes? No, I don't even really smoke cigars a
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: lot anymore, like I might have one a year. You
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: know that's it. Yesterday was another one of those days
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: where I wish I smoke cigars. Yeah, like everybody around,
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: that would be enough for me, just the other people's.
- 1:39:08Speaker 1: I just like the I like the external. Once you
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: smoke them, they taste and it wasn't close enough that
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: it was like the spink was getting on me, but
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: I could just smell the aroma. It's a football cent
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: for me, right, Mark, Matt, you like scars. It's aigar
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: guy me and g Or the way used to smoke them.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: Oh sorry postgame shows, Humble Bragg smoking if you know
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: them right, you just kind of you let it wallow
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: and try to put in your mouth, goes in through
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: the put it in your mouth and blow. Is that
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: what you? You just put it in your mouth and
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: spit it out, And you just said, I hope you
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: got that one captured. H Claire writes in Hello everyone,
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: Hello ma readcast. I know there may be a slew
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: of goodbye emails to Eric Thursday, so I wanted to
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: get mine in today. You will be genuinely missed, Eric.
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: Thank you for everything you help make you great, which
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: made me a better Patriots fan. So thank you. Wishing
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: you all the best. Okay, Fred, is there a job opening.
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: Let's get to it. We redo the show when whoever
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: replaces Eric, you know, make pe you great again. We
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: should do that. Pooh, hugga huga. Let's get back to
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: the phones. A sticket hutline. We get him stacked up here.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: We'll start with Todd North Carolina, Todd, Todd, Todd hang out. Uh,
- 1:40:31Speaker 1: Josh is in California. Hey, Josh, Hey guys. Not necessarily
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: a long time listener, but I am the first time caller.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: I discovered your guys this show like a month ago
- 1:40:43Speaker 1: and been watched basically all of it. Welcome, so I
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: am a big fan. Uh. First, a couple of things
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: to defend Bill Belichick, and then a couple of questions. Um,
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: obviously everyone in the AfD has kind of been going
- 1:40:59Speaker 1: all in this. Yeah, So do you think builds approaching
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: the season as realistically we're not able to compete, so
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: he may as well just go for a better draft pick,
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: maybe do a little better the next few years. I
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: don't think that's yeah, I don't. Yeah. I just think
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: they're being doing what they do, being methodical. But I mean,
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: you're right, they gotta they gotta hit on the draft.
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: I just did. The lack of young players, that's I
- 1:41:22Speaker 1: think that's what's glaring about this team is is you
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: need that next generation of guys to emerge, and some
- 1:41:27Speaker 1: guys are going to get a chance this year. I
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: think it looks like that. Do you think that? And
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: I'll ask you this to Josh, do you think that
- 1:41:34Speaker 1: the type of players that build drafted this year indicates
- 1:41:37Speaker 1: he's going to be here longer than people think? Ah?
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: I don't really read that much into it. No, okay,
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: I'm not here to tell you that's not true. But
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: I haven't really read into it. Okay, Now, I just
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: thought it was an acknowledgment that they needed to be
- 1:41:51Speaker 1: they needed to improve, especially different But I mean, you
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: know guys that you know, smaller schools, maybe more a
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: little bit more developmental type guys. Know. No, I can't
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: justify the cold, strange pick no matter what. Okay, all right,
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: but my criticism of Bill more recently is kind of specific.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Do you guys think Jack Mason was passed his prime
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: or gonna ask for a new contract or something. Why
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: don't we send him away for a fifth and then
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: spend a first on the guard. It's just money. I
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: don't think he's passed his prime. I don't think he
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: was going to ask for more money. But he was
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: making a lot from the but he was making a
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: contract that he signed. Thanks Josh Bill and Vista, California.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: Speaking of Eric's operation, I couldn't help but think of
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: the scene from the office where Michael asked Oscar if
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: there's anything he should do to prepare for to make
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: his appointment more pleasurable for him and his doctor. Anyway,
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: enjoy the good luck on your next African adventure. You'll
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: be missed. Thank you. That's nice, That's very sweet. Back
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: to the phone, Eldred's in North Carolina. Eldred, Hey, fellas,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: how y'all doing good? Ea? Scout from miss old Buddy.
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: Like I said on Facebook, go ahead talking to you
- 1:43:09Speaker 1: for these years, I'm gonna try that at least five
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: more years than I quit. At least five more. I'm
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: gonna retire five more than I'm gonna retire from them, right, Fred, Yes,
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: and Paul, I got a question play. I heard you earlier.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: You're very optimistic. I'm an optimistic thought this come found schedule,
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: so in all considerations, you don't know who the office
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: coordinating is. You don't know who's gonna be calling the
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: play that their first time or they did it on
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: Madden or whatever. Okay, how do you see the sco
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: how you see the record breaking out? And I know
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: if I keeps saying, where we got a shout at
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: the wild Card, but that's what I'm looking at. Yeah, No,
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: it's fair. I mean, like if they if it's a
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: disaster on offense, obviously there, it's going to be a
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: disaster season. So, um, I just I just don't I
- 1:44:06Speaker 1: think Bill will figure it. Like, I think he knows
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: what he's gonna do. He's just he's not into telling
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: anybody yet because he just doesn't want to. That's it's
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: not time for that, you know, in his schedule, it's
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: not time to talk about who's doing what. We're just
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: putting the rookies on the field right now. Guys are
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: gonna be coming in. Well, we'll take things as they come,
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: you know. I think in his mind he knows and
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: you know, I know it's cliche, but I trust them.
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: Yeah see, And that's part of the reason why I
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: think they'll be in wildcard contention. Now, if you're asking
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: me how many games I think they'll win now. A
- 1:44:39Speaker 1: lot of stuff going to go on between now and
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: the start of the season, but I don't see them
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: making it right now. I think it's probably like seventy
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: eight wins. But I mean we had a call it earlier. Things.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Nine wins will get you in, so if you win eight,
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: you're in contention, right um. But I think right now
- 1:44:56Speaker 1: there are some teams that I like on paper better
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: than the Patriots. We'll see if PaperWorks, sometimes it doesn't,
- 1:45:02Speaker 1: and sometimes injuries happen, sometimes it doesn't. Mash you know,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: Son'll see yeah, but I see what everybody else sees.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: I see some holes on the roster, you know, not rough,
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: but I'm still like everybody else. I mean, that strange
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: pick was a strange pick, especially he had two good
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: corners out there, you know, like Boofing, but Cleary and Gordon.
- 1:45:26Speaker 1: You know, you didn't get there was a need. That's
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: what I'm still stretching my head about. I don't think
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: they're trying to get you know, a little faster free
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: agent wise, you know, and draft wise, and you got
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: anybody mashing up in the secondary. That's what I'm worried,
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: yeah about Yeah, you got to stop him somehow. Yeah,
- 1:45:44Speaker 1: all right, thanks? Thanks. See what do they need to
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: do on defense? What do they need to have to
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: stop him? What would necessity to stop Can we can
- 1:45:56Speaker 1: we force them to punt it? Can we get a punt?
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: Not again? God? What happened to Eric? I don't know?
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: Left early? You just get up and left? Oh? Is
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: this it was? Now? It was one forty five was
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: the time? And he was Uh, Matt, Indiana, Matt, I'm
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: bummed to hear that Eric is calling it quits on
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: the PU Crew. I've enjoyed listening to him on Patriots
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: Unfiltered and John Rookie Show. What's What's John rook Gonna do?
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: Um Artic will come back in to do twenty minutes
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: of rooke. He has a lot of the same negative
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: outlooks that I generally have, so I relate well to him.
- 1:46:31Speaker 1: We are also close to the same age, so we
- 1:46:33Speaker 1: share the same formative Patriots years and experience. I two
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: once owned a Satin Patriots starter jacket in elementary squad. Yes,
- 1:46:41Speaker 1: the Blue gotta have it. My guess is he's to
- 1:46:44Speaker 1: join Megan O'Brien to become the next wrestling tag team champions,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: me and Megan. Yeah, good luck in the squared circle
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: or wherever your travels may take you. Yeah, who is that?
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: I'm sorry? I Matt in Indiana. Oh, thank you, Matt,
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: appreciate that. Yeah. The starter, the blue starter jacket, the
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: satin one that uh um h Raymond Berry used to
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: wear on the sideline class I had. Yeah, I remember royal,
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: blue royal, the shiny royal. I know it, satin is.
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: Remember those starter That wasn't the part that I was
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: confused about. That was not the red jackets with the
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: block Patriots letters. Those were the with like the stars
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: on them. Yeah, you know those. That's what I was thinking.
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: The long winter coat ones because they used to sell those.
- 1:47:29Speaker 1: And they also had like a lot of sweaters. Remember
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: the sweaters and like that Raymond Barry Cliff engl sweater,
- 1:47:36Speaker 1: bad sweaters remembered on the sideline so ugly. The big
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: winter jacket that ugly. Yeah ugly. I had a pull over,
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: the blue Patriots pullover with a little zipper on the side.
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: I wore that all the time the games. Yeah, I
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: liked that. It's weird. As I grew up, you know,
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: three towns away from the stadium and grew up saying
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: like time frame Eric did eighties nineties and they're pretty
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: bad mostly, but no, everybody seemed like everybody wore more
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: other team stuff. There wasn't like a but even like
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: other sports, Like I have like a picture like in
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: my junior year high school with like a Blackhawks hat on.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: I don't know if it was just an old thing
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: where people were more like open to wearing other teams,
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: but and I mean it certainly plays into it the
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: pictures where we're bad and nobody wanted to wear this stuff.
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: But yeah, you know, but now everybody's like we gotta
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: get pat Patriot bag and like nobody want to wear it.
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: Yeah right. I used to get made fun of my
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: adults for wearing that jacket. Everybody wants to bring it back. Kid,
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: his name was Fred. What are you wearing that logo
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: for a professional usfluh, let's say. Amir writes in I
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: don't understand the overreaction regarding the coaching rules, where clearly
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: we have a bigger problem with the PUS staffing. Eric
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: is leaving and now we have no second host and
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: Fred is often hurt in m Ia Samara started the
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: season on pup. Paul is obviously over the hill. It's
- 1:48:59Speaker 1: Mike really ready to carry the show all relevant questions,
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: each and every one of those relevant questions. I mean,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: I know everybody's probably thrilled for the Deuce solo PU
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: show that the will single hand I'm gonna share with you,
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: So I'll share with you my biggest concern. It's gonna
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: shock you. His role as the number two host, Oh yeah, underrated.
- 1:49:20Speaker 1: We have not filled that. I am really worried about it.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: What happens when Fred's not here? The show already falls
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: apart where Fred's not here, Let's face it, all right, Hi,
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: I'm Mike. That's just me. Sorry, I'm sorry. I do.
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: I worry about it the whole time. I know, worry.
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: If it's Fred, Deuce and Paul, I think we will
- 1:49:42Speaker 1: be fine. Yeah, you'll be all right. You take one
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: of those three out of the equation. I think it's
- 1:49:45Speaker 1: a train wrecord. Well, it's a train wreck anyway. When
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: there's only two of us, no matter who the two are,
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: it's tough to do a two man show. Sometimes we've
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: had good shows. Yeah, yeah, it depends on if there's
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: news to talk about. If it's Fred and I or
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: Andy and I. It was great. I don't know if
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: you guys can stuck into Andy and I were the
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: A team. I mean that's opinion. I like there was
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: a good sign in Caroline. It was a good sign
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: in Carolina on the glass for the Bruins game. It's, uh,
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: the Patriots aren't good enough to be a holes there
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: be holes. Oh wow, that's a shot. I mean, not
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: the Patriots, the Bruins. I figured that's what did you get?
- 1:50:26Speaker 1: Did you have something of note there? Looked like you
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: were tweets. That's something you'll love hearing about after the show.
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: Good luck one of those tweets, good luck trying to
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: stop you know whopping? Yeah, good luck. Trevor writes in
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: from North Carolina. A couple of questions about the way
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: the Patriots go about their coaching roles. One, are other
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: teams so secretive about their coaching roles or is this
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: just the Patriots thing? Just the Patriots thing? From for
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: all I know, Yeah, it just feels like a lot.
- 1:50:55Speaker 1: It's a lot of effort to like for note, Yeah,
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: I mean for what Tom Current asked Gerard Mayo about
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: that today, you know, like, is it something that you
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: get an advantage out of something that you know, And
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: he said, quite frankly, I don't think other teams even
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: think about it. They don't have right they don't lose
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: any time thinking about any of this kind of stuff
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: right now. They just say, hey, you're coaching this, which
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: I thought was interesting for him to just admit, like, yeah, no,
- 1:51:19Speaker 1: you guys think that there's nothing in it. I don't
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: think there's anything in it because the other teams aren't
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: worried about all of our roles individually. I mean, it
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: also helps that Gerard and Tom have had to just
- 1:51:28Speaker 1: you know, they Girard used to be on Tom's TV show,
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: so they have a little bit of a rapport there.
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: Maybe he's a little bit easier talking to him, but yeah,
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: but it's Art's been pushing back a little bit. He
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: got into it with pell Greeno a little bit. Oh really,
- 1:51:41Speaker 1: you know, I wasn't on that of no, no, no,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: but just you know, firm like he can be. You know,
- 1:51:47Speaker 1: it was I mean, why Pella Greeno? Yeah, right, was Mayo? Right,
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: Pella Greeno. I figured he was talking to somebody as yesterday.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: But I mean I feel like he's I feel like
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: he's asking the hard questions that you talk you know,
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: every we talk about him, he goes on the air,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: he talks about him, and I think he he's willing
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: to go in and and and press him a little bit.
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: And you know, talking about the secondary things that we've
- 1:52:09Speaker 1: been talking about where you got a couple of rookies,
- 1:52:11Speaker 1: but it looks like you got a lot of turnover there.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Do you think you got the pieces to match up?
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: And you know, Mike, I think Mike Paul Green, now,
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: I mean he's always a little prickly and not afraid
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: to kind of be like I think I think at
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: one point I heard him. I think I no, no,
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: in a good way. But I think I think he
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: threw with all due respect, Oh he's got it. Um
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: so yeah, I mean it's it's it's just I just
- 1:52:33Speaker 1: think if you get if you have questions about the defense,
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: go to the top, either go to Bill or go
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: to Mayo and Steve Belichick. Like, all due respect to
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: Mike Paella Green, No, that's not really where I'm looking for,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: you know, going to for an answer, right, it's not
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: his fault. Uh. Trevor also wants to know is there
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: any actual advantage to being so quiet about this or
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: is it just Bill saying screw you to the media.
- 1:52:55Speaker 1: But I don't know what. I don't think it's necessarily
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: screw you to the media, but I don't think there's
- 1:52:59Speaker 1: any advantage to it either. Also, I've really tased doing it.
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: I've really taken a liking to Paul's diet miller phrase
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: so much, in fact that last weekend I was at
- 1:53:08Speaker 1: a bar in order to diet without even thinking about
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: exchanged confused looks with the bartender before realizing what I
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: said and having to clarify. I've never called it a
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: diet miller in a restaurant. I probably have, but yeah,
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Fred and Matt were on that one early. I made
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: it up. Oh wow, protective and I remember saying it
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: and Matt said, I like that. Okay, I'll give you
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: full credit. Of course, he said, I liked it, diet miller.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: My two bosses colliding. I can I can't handle were
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: taking credit for the miller like jokes. Oh we didn't mention. Also,
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: um in passing Gino Cappellina, Oh yes, can I just
- 1:53:46Speaker 1: say sorry? Sorry about that? You know I wrote I
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: wrote a short little piece on Gino after the show
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: last week when we found out about it, and the
- 1:53:54Speaker 1: response has been overwhelming to so many people that have
- 1:53:57Speaker 1: reached out to me for writing it, including what I
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: believe one of Gino's sisters. Yes, um relative, at least
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: a relative. But I've had um countless too many to
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: even remember on Twitter, people reaching out, and we've even
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: had a handful of emails come in really nice of
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: people to like because I did, you know, sort of
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: I didn't know Geno well, I don't pretend to have
- 1:54:23Speaker 1: known him really well, but we did have the opportunity
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: to sort of be with him on the road and
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: I tried to, you know, sort of recount a little
- 1:54:31Speaker 1: of what those experiences were like. And the response was
- 1:54:34Speaker 1: was really nice. And I appreciate you guys reaching out
- 1:54:37Speaker 1: and letting me know that I don't know anyone who's
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: met Geno that didn't like him. It's true, Yeah, that's true.
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: He was just like a gentleman. He was a gentleman, gentleman.
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: He really was classy. I never got to meet him,
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: but just doing the two thousand and one project this year,
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: getting to listen to those radio calls again, and that's
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: another thing I've heard so much brought up even you know,
- 1:54:59Speaker 1: Brian Belich talking today about you know, those calls from
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: the super Bowl that will just you know, stand forever,
- 1:55:04Speaker 1: and that was just some of the coolest stuff for
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: me and Matt digging through those and finding those old
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: calls and you remember the big moments, but then you
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: hear his call and it just it puts even more
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: context onto it of you know how special it all was.
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: So Yeah, it was tough. Yeah, thanks, I was well dressed,
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: you know, um go into a restaurant and they just
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: catered to him because he was just you know, they
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: knew him, and wherever he went, he just just he
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: treated people respectful. Yes, the gentleman's gentleman. How many years
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: was he the radio color guy? Right, Well, they had
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: it was long. It was something in that neighborhood. Yeah,
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: but I think they didn't they take a short break
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: with Gil and Gino when they tried somebody else. Well,
- 1:55:48Speaker 1: he had started with Dale Arnold, Gino did, yeah, and
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: then it was Gil came in. Um. But I don't
- 1:55:55Speaker 1: remember how long exactly, but it was it was closing
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: in on like three decades. I think it was, I
- 1:56:01Speaker 1: want to say twenty six or twenty eight or something
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: like that. It's a long time. Yeah, I mean when
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: you go back and no disrespect to Scott and Bob,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: but you know, because there were so many great things
- 1:56:12Speaker 1: that happened with Gil and Gino doing the calls. When
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: you listen to that, like your mind goes back and
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: it's it's, um, it's nice, you know, yeah, it's nice. Yeah,
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: they hear them. Well, I think too, because they were
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: from the era where the Patriots had never won. Yeah,
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: so when they got to call that first winning super Bowl,
- 1:56:31Speaker 1: you could point you could feel the thrill that they
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: were experienced when they beat when they beat the Rams
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: the first the first times the Rams, it was almost
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: like an incredulous sound to their vol like they couldn't
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: believe't believe what they were swe like yeah, yeah, but
- 1:56:47Speaker 1: that's Gino in the background, and the Patriots world like
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: how about about That's like it was like like like
- 1:56:55Speaker 1: Jimmy Stewart, what do you know about that? Well? I
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: mean Gil, you know, because he was around in ninety
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: five when they went to the Super Bowl loss ninety
- 1:57:04Speaker 1: six and that ring that we got for the ASC Championship,
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: that's the one he always wore, like he said that
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: was the first one. I liked this one the best.
- 1:57:14Speaker 1: You know, then that two thousand and one happened. Yeah, no,
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: but even after two thousand really yeah, he wore the
- 1:57:20Speaker 1: ASHC Championship ring. Yeah, yeah, it's part of the journey. Wow. Yeah.
- 1:57:24Speaker 1: A lot happened over the last five and it really did,
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: I know, fake show today? Yeah, but yeah, because you know, Fred,
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: you and Matt were talking to me a little bit
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: about the Geno thing, and I was kind of reluctant
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: because I didn't, you know, like I knew him to
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: talk to, and everybody, like Fred said, knew like loved him.
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: But I didn't really feel like I had a lot
- 1:57:44Speaker 1: to give because I didn't know him, you know, exceptionally well.
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: And I was kind of reluctant. I didn't want to
- 1:57:49Speaker 1: embarrass myself by trying to write a tribute to a
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: guy that there's countless people that were a lot closer
- 1:57:56Speaker 1: to him than I was. But I just that's why
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: I really appreciate the people reaching out saying, hey, what
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: a nice job you did on on that. You know, Normally,
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: you know, it's like, yeah, thanks, that's that's what we do, Like,
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: no big deal, But that wasn't necessarily what we do,
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: and it was a little different and I appreciated it. Yeah,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: it's a good job. Yeah, so rest in peace, Gino.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: And you made me think of that when you brought
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: up Billy Ogden's a little earlier. Oh yeah, because that
- 1:58:18Speaker 1: was he's the one that. Yeah, he and Gil turned
- 1:58:21Speaker 1: us onto Bill. They treat him, you know what. I
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: go back at the Carrucci turned me on to Bill.
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: He's a local. Yeah yeah, but Gil and Gino went
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: there all the time. Gino, you know, when Gino walked
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: in that place, it was like, you know, Brady was
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: walking in Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he was royalty. He's
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: in Buffalo, even in Buffalo, I mean back at he
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: goes back to the afc AFLA. You know. All right,
- 1:58:48Speaker 1: that's gonna be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered.
