- 2:20wanted to call attention to a couple of things, you know, as
- 2:22far as like the the housekeeping stuff, if you guys are watching
- 2:25this on Facebook, you'll notice that you can now give stars and
- 2:31so far as I understand stars are on the Facebook.
- 2:34Platform is a way for you to support your content creators
- 2:41monetarily by giving them Stars. So one star is an equivalent of
- 2:46one US penny or one cent. So you can quite literally offer
- 2:51your two cents every week if you wanted to.
- 2:54Or so choose think there might be a minimum of, like 50 stars
- 2:58but hey, you know, not only, can you offer your two cents, you
- 3:02can offer your 50 cents. I need all the sense that I can
- 3:06get a need to be able to make all the sense that I can
- 3:09possibly make so consider that if this is where you're
- 3:13catching, the The podcast. And also, if you notice down
- 3:16here on the YouTube banner down below, there is now direct links
- 3:21to the midgard, musings merchandise, store or spring
- 3:25store. There are some featured items
- 3:27down here but I offer much more than what you might see on that
- 3:30initial roll bar of of products. So check it out.
- 3:34Of course when you do buy merchandise from the store, I do
- 3:38see a percentage of that commission earn so it definitely
- 3:42helps monetarily as Well, and it also gives you some gear to
- 3:48sport, you know, you can go to your Pagan events and go to your
- 3:52band practices or go out to eat and, you know, have the midgard
- 3:58musings binder and some other neat symbols and things.
- 4:03When people ask about it, man, that's shirt, or that hoodie,
- 4:06those leggings, or those socks, or whatever it is, that you get
- 4:09look really cool. Where can I get one?
- 4:10You can say, hey, check out the midgard musings.

- 4:28tree link, that's posted, you know, every episode in all of
- 4:31the video descriptions and Podcast show notes.
- 4:35Be sure to check all that fun stuff out.
- 4:39Today, we have a guest who is a musician.
- 4:43He has a YouTube channel as well, and is Norris even or
- 4:47Norse Pagan, so we are going to be welcoming in.
- 4:51Blake, Russell, who is better known by his online moniker as
- 4:56skaldak works? You can find him for sure.
- 5:00Here on YouTube, I believe you also has an Instagram page
- 5:05There's a link to relink, I think to all of his social sites
- 5:08and whatnot but he plays the bow harp tour the Cella harp.
- 5:16I think it's called thing. I've heard it pronounced
- 5:19differently in different languages or different dialects
- 5:23but the Thiele harp you know, it's that kind of droning
- 5:26sounding fiddle that a lot of individuals and musicians that
- 5:33play. Lady Nordic folk style of music
- 5:36plays. So he has again, videos up here
- 5:39on his YouTube channel, which is going to be linked.
- 5:42So be sure to check him out, subscribe to his channel, follow
- 5:45along with he does and we're going to bring him on here today
- 5:48to talk about. I'm sure that and just kind of
- 5:52whatever else tickles our pickles and strike, sorry,
- 5:55interest or sets our minds on fire or puts our ships in
- 6:01Harbour or whatever the other phrases that you can think of
- 6:03that. I mean, some of the things that
- 6:05I just alluded to. So, for the first time on the
- 6:09random Heathen ramblings podcast, please, welcome
- 6:12sculpted works. All right, folks and as I
- 6:18mentioned earlier, we are joined now for the very first time on
- 6:22the random Heathen Ramsey's podcast with this is Blake
- 6:25better known by his online moniker as skaldak works.
- 6:30So thank you for tuning in and thank you for being a guest on
- 6:33the show today. Blake.
- 6:36Thanks for having me. So I mentioned earlier that you
- 6:41are a musician. You've got your YouTube channel
- 6:47and you play. I think it's pronounced T Allah
- 6:51to Allah carp tell the top. I was adding maybe I was adding
- 6:58a, I was dating annunciations but that didn't belong.
- 7:02I guess. Evidently it's also
- 7:15And how long have you been playing this for?
- 7:26What's your musical background? Like what, what kind of brought
- 7:29you into the pursuit of that particular instrument?
- 7:33Okay, well, I have been exposed to music for since I was born
- 7:43and I've been exposed to mostly the, like, the old country, like
- 7:47noise on back to White by pressing.
- 7:50OK, which, I can, which I can play those instruments as well
- 7:54face my grandfather, but I did start to He's only playing with
- 8:05me too and stuff as well. I guess I got the heavy metal
- 8:09stuff and Pretty much throughout the it was like, I think it was
- 8:15like around 2006, I think I got 47.
- 8:18I got into heavy metal hard, rock and heavy metal and just
- 8:22started leaning towards that. And I've been pulling off again
- 8:28with the guitar and stuff. And But it's basically just a
- 8:34HD. Thank going on.
- 8:36But we have We had a band like right before it happened.
- 8:44Around eight. 2019. Yep.
- 8:48And that was a part of and I've played Rhythm on that that one.
- 8:52And then we had our first show or first and only show at that
- 8:56time and they wanted me to switch over later on after covid
- 9:03hit. And we can't have the cancel one
- 9:06of our shows that the It was a a a place in Huntsville, that's
- 9:12why, when you say switch over, you mean like switch
- 9:15instruments, or yes. After after that, they wanted to
- 9:19switch the base. And my friends who played bass
- 9:24was switching over to guitar gotcha.
- 9:27But as slowly as it slowly progressed I just felt like this
- 9:32is that direction I want to go and start.
- 9:36I listen to like of course bands.
- 9:38Like wow. Runa.
- 9:40Hey, long gone Hime. It's not like you remember who
- 9:45else cold as well. Oh, yeah.
- 9:49And that's how I that's how I got into the toggle.
- 9:52Harbour is the instrument because I was gonna try to get
- 9:55me like a Lear and tried to get that down.
- 10:01But it's like, oh, a boat Abode version of this.
- 10:04Yeah. And the thing is, I have
- 10:07actually Violent background. Oh, wow.
- 10:10Okay, that came easy to me to learn this.
- 10:13This is, I actually both played both.
- 10:16Not only have violin lessons when I was young.
- 10:20I also play fiddle style. Yeah.
- 10:23So the Bluegrass influences and stuff that from your from
- 10:27growing up. Yeah.
- 10:28For sure. Yeah.
- 10:30Oh, and they owe the from there. Also, I'm a competing used to be
- 10:37a competing harmonica player. Oh yeah.
- 10:55But I thought I felt like it was a relatively easy instrument to
- 10:59learn how to play knowing where the blow on the Reeds and
- 11:03whatnot. I mean I can't read a lick of
- 11:05sheet music. Yeah.
- 11:07But listening to a song I could like find the tone and whatever
- 11:11on the harmonica is and play it with relative ease.
- 11:15So as a child you know I was like oh this is a fun
- 11:17instrument. Dad.
- 11:19You know, he was a drummer and and so I've always kind of
- 11:23picked up on the percussions, you know, type instrument.
- 11:27So you know, like the drum and stuff is kind of like a
- 11:30naturally gravitate toward that. I'm always, you know, tapping on
- 11:34things and tap on my feet or bobbing my head or whatever.
- 11:37So that like desire to just keep rhythm is always there and then
- 11:42I have got was gifted a liar over you all this past year.
- 11:47And II said, I, you know, I'm not, I've like, I think I've
- 11:51learned like maybe one song on it and not even a full one, and
- 11:54I haven't gotten the whole thing fully tuned it, because there's
- 11:56so many. There's like different tunings
- 11:58that you gotta play for different songs which I never
- 12:00realized, I'm like, oh well, there's more to this than I
- 12:03guess. When you get to the longer one,
- 12:20some have longer ones and then you get to the Baseline.
- 12:24Which that's actually more of a modern take on that asteroid.
- 12:30So the base of cello range toggle Harbor.
- 12:34Yeah, are they? I mean, so they have different
- 12:38sizes, but as far as like the number of strings on them, I
- 12:41I've seen ones that have. What looks like, just like maybe
- 12:44three or four strings, like nothing.
- 12:46Very complicated. And then I've seen others with
- 12:49more, but traditionally, therefore, but a lot of them
- 12:53have been using three strings lately because of, because of
- 12:57either selfic pronouncing, Right.
- 13:00And then, right again. Yeah, from we're doing now.
- 13:02Yeah, yeah, he is is a three string, which he calls it a
- 13:06toggle half of the earlier, one of his bottle.
- 13:10The shape of it is more against the Euro, he go, right?
- 13:14I think yeah, yahiko, I keep pronouncing it wrong as I got
- 13:18called out one time trying to teach the lesson on that, but
- 13:21they say it's actually smaller than what he was playing.
- 13:23But the thing is the luthier that That created my instrument
- 13:31his his versions are about a little bit bigger than the
- 13:36traditional Finnish model. Okay.
- 13:40But on he started so that's I guess that's how the three
- 13:43spring came about. Won't go to sleep, but
- 13:46traditionally, it's for Strings, interesting.
- 13:50But the training is about the thing is about the same as the
- 13:53three string. Except for the one closest to
- 13:56your hand is to exactly the same as the, Level.
- 14:02And I'm assuming well I miss a assuming, but I guess from like
- 14:05watching, like folks like yourself and other players of
- 14:09the instrument they're not fretted, right?
- 14:12Like it's almost like a violin in that sense where you're, you
- 14:15know, where you bend the strings or or or What the technical term
- 14:21is the correct term but you know, it's not like a, where is
- 14:25your AC G? You know?
- 14:27Yeah, it's okay. Okay.
- 14:33But it does not have a finger board either, so right.
- 14:37Yeah, it's yeah, that would press down.
- 14:41Yeah. So from from from Bluegrass to
- 14:46rock and heavy metal, which I think the transition from
- 14:50Bluegrass into metal is is almost seamless because it's
- 14:53kind of like black metal is is Bluegrass with like electric
- 14:59guitars and distorted tones and things you know.
- 15:01Like you can almost see like how the the ferocity and the
- 15:06seemingly chaotic nature of Bluegrass has mirror or mirrors
- 15:11into Extreme versions of metal is say like black metal.
- 15:15Do you see the similarities there to, as a practicing
- 15:18musician? Or am I just like talking out of
- 15:20my butt here? Yeah, I see, I see some
- 15:23similarities to it. There's some different
- 15:25techniques, of course. All right, you are?
- 15:28Yeah, I mean, they're not buying it like, Like Wendy, what do you
- 15:32see Bluegrass musician? Play our patients.
- 15:37Well technically if you look at that, my like banjo I'll go back
- 15:42on Banjo has more and Madeline Styles and violins will probably
- 15:47do more, our patients stuff than say, like a guitar replace and
- 15:53bluegrass. Or a or dobro or yeah I've
- 15:59always loved always love the incorporation of banjo anyway.
- 16:02I mean I like the sound of a banjo.
- 16:04I think it's very I don't know man.
- 16:08It's just it's just like one of those sounds that you can't
- 16:10mimic with anything else. It's so unique in it and it has
- 16:13its own sound and you know, it's a Telltale sound kind of much.
- 16:17Like the the toggle Harper, the tell Harper it's it's it has a
- 16:20very distinct sound to it. You can't mistake it for
- 16:23anything else. else and I think it changes also across the
- 16:28different styles to because you have your traditional Angela
- 16:32that dates back to the African times you have Minstrel banjo
- 16:38Then you have your railing or clawhammer banjo sound, which
- 16:45says, which is the open backs. Then you have your Scruggs style
- 16:49which is your three-finger style?
- 16:51Playing, do you go into mulatto banjo, which is the same thing
- 16:56in the three-finger style format?
- 16:58But just a little more complicated.
- 17:00And then you have four string, Irish banjo?
- 17:04Yes. You know, I think, you know, and
- 17:06I never see. I'm learning.
- 17:08Stuff here today, too. Because I never realized that,
- 17:10as you said that there's history with a style of banjo, that is a
- 17:16from the African continent but I learned so much about music and
- 17:21instruments right? Like there's they don't sound
- 17:24exactly the same but they have a very similar sound like don't
- 17:27know what the correct term is but in like Mongolian folk music
- 17:30there's like this huge bowed thing and it's got two or three.
- 17:36There it is. Yeah that one You ever like are
- 17:39you familiar with that instrument?
- 17:40And yeah I actually like the band.
- 17:44The Who? Yeah.
- 17:45Oh yeah. Come on now.
- 17:46Yeah, I can go down there. Yeah.
- 17:50Tengger Cavalry only if you ever heard of them, they kind of were
- 17:53like the who's almost necessarily predecessor, but
- 17:56they I almost feel like Tanger Cavalry were the pioneers of
- 18:00what we have now, in terms of Mongolian folk metal, because
- 18:04the who started really making a stamp on On the music scene.
- 18:11I mean I didn't find out about the who until I had already
- 18:13heard of tender Calvary, so I don't know if it's harder than I
- 18:17think I've heard them play. Yeah, man.
- 18:22I'll, I'll I'll connect with you and send you some stuff because
- 18:25when I saw the reason I found out about them is I was at the
- 18:30time doing a lot of press for and like album reviews,
- 18:35publication four different bands.
- 18:38And it just so happened that one of the labels or promotion
- 18:43companies that I was doing. Work through sent me information
- 18:47on Tanger Calvary saying that they were coming through the
- 18:50area on a on a tour and wanted me to come by and interview them
- 18:58and do an album review and all this other or do a review and
- 19:01then in an interview and what was also interesting was at the
- 19:05time. The, so, the pr companies who it
- 19:08acted me the promoters who booked the show, where people
- 19:12who I knew at the time in Nashville, so it worked out
- 19:16really well. I was like, hey, Kayla Malcolm,
- 19:18you know, like a I was contacted by, I can't remember the name of
- 19:21the PR Company, but like the PR Company of adrenaline maybe that
- 19:28they had like, ties to like some pretty major bands.
- 19:30You don't limit God, Megadeth and some of these like pretty
- 19:33big names like, hey, I was reading.
- 19:35You know, I was contacted by this PR Company When they come
- 19:38by and they're like, absolutely just, you know, give it is your
- 19:41name and a plus one will have you on the guest list.
- 19:44So that's how I got turned on to tengger Calvary became friends
- 19:48with their vocalist and then tragically about a year or two
- 19:51after I met them or whatever. The vocalist tragically passed
- 19:57took his own life which is really sad and again, you know,
- 20:01got into their music. I was like man, this is like
- 20:04this is groundbreaking, you know, like yeah Folk Music that
- 20:08is turned into like extreme varieties of it and then next
- 20:11thing you know like I think they ended up getting signed to
- 20:14either. It was either nuclear blast or
- 20:17Napalm records or some big, you know, extreme music label.
- 20:22Yeah, one really heavy metal ones like that.
- 20:26Yeah, yeah. And they you know with with
- 20:28nature was the guy's name, the singer of the lead vocalist with
- 20:31him passing, you know, the course, they pretty much just
- 20:34put it to bed. But after that I like learned
- 20:37about The Who and And that sort of thing.
- 20:39And I was like, wow man, I don't know if I would have, I'm sure I
- 20:42would have heard of The Who, but I wouldn't have been exposed to
- 20:44that kind of music prior to that.
- 20:47And so I feel, I guess, maybe like a almost an obligation to
- 20:51mention the tanker Calvary folks.
- 20:54Every time I hear about the who I'm like, yeah, you may not have
- 20:56had that. We may not have been there with
- 20:58that, you know, without tanker kalbarri first.
- 21:00But yeah, that's fascinating. I had no idea that the banjo had
- 21:05its place in Africa you know anything about that or it's the
- 21:10style of music. I don't know if I've heard of
- 21:12anything from me. It basically it, I can't
- 21:16remember exactly all the details.
- 21:19There is a what there's one famous woman who's trying to
- 21:22revive that style music. And the banjo completely
- 21:27different back then. Sure.
- 21:30And it is that the oh it actually Branch all from
- 21:33different instruments similar to it.
- 21:35That had that one string that's up on the neck.
- 21:39Okay, that whole High Street level high string there, gotcha,
- 21:46what do some research to look into that, that's pretty neat,
- 21:49actually started learning how to play like three-finger style
- 21:52banjo last year? Yeah, how's that?
- 21:54Bent of my time for aggressive right now.
- 21:58I have put it down for a while because I've been focused on
- 22:02this toggle Hopper and ya still doctoral work.
- 22:08Yeah, I've been busy. I've been busy with that for the
- 22:11past couple months. Yeah.
- 22:15So let's talk about that then now that's a good segue into
- 22:18into it. Also obviously, you know, a
- 22:22pretty vibrant background in music.
- 22:25Has led you to producing music and sharing it with the world
- 22:31through. I guess you have YouTube.
- 22:34Any other platforms that you use to share your music.
- 22:39Yeah, I have. My music is actually on mostly
- 22:43all platforms that you can think of like Spotify. or as I call it
- 22:49SWAT, the fly Sighs, and I'm also on Deezer Nice and see.
- 22:59I'm on Apple music which includes items.
- 23:02Yep. And then I have I think Amazon
- 23:07music and it's all I heart radio and it's supposed to be on
- 23:11Pandora, but I am still not seeing it on there yet they take
- 23:16a while because I know when I was kicking all this podcast, I
- 23:20felt like, I don't know if I have people that listen through
- 23:22Pandora, it took a while for me to get I don't know like
- 23:26approved or whatever to have my content distribute out, like I
- 23:29submitted my thing for it and it took them like a month.
- 23:31Almost to get back to me but so that's cool man.
- 23:35And The how often do you release content through like your
- 23:42YouTube? I know you do our lessons kind
- 23:46of teach every now. Yeah, I never had started that
- 23:50series basically as a way to teach people because I felt that
- 23:58there was lack of Destruction in English on YouTube on YouTube
- 24:04and that those who have made those videos.
- 24:08Or say they said they were going to make them only met one video
- 24:11and it has been either months to a year before they called up and
- 24:20I usually release I try to release at least once a week
- 24:25Bailey on Thursday. Okay, and I usually follow my
- 24:29analytics little bit so I can see when there are going to be
- 24:33around. So yeah, Lisa started glass.
- 24:37Started playing with premieres. And I supposed to release it on
- 24:42Thursday last last week and I kind of goofed.
- 24:46I said, we're I said for Friday, instead of Thursday self, like I
- 24:54was like, that was like, Gotta be kidding me.
- 25:11Yeah, I've done that before with, with this stuff because,
- 25:13you know, these these podcasts, you know, they are the same time
- 25:17on Thursday mornings every week and I've in the past I've like,
- 25:21you know, you look at a calendar for when do you want to Premiere
- 25:24it and you know, you're off a day or you think a certain date
- 25:27is on a certain date or you know, and I've it's classic, you
- 25:32know, that happens. So at least, you know, well,
- 25:35once a week for like, less than type videos, what about are you
- 25:39recording? I don't know an EP or an album
- 25:42or anything right now, or do you have nothing?
- 25:44I just want to release it once single time right now.
- 25:51And then once I get enough, I'm a compile it to AEP.
- 25:56Yeah. And then probably to an album.
- 25:58But right now, I've been, like I said, I've been in the process
- 26:03of moving right now, so it's kind of difficult for me to stay
- 26:06focused on. Yeah, recording anything.
- 26:09Yeah. And settling in for sure.
- 26:12Yeah, I'm a, I'm a deuce quick on record.
- 26:16Some of the old ones, the old videos I made, like there's an
- 26:24unnamed song I have that I really like that capped, I
- 26:28really have the name soon but I am trying to like revisit those
- 26:37And then my plan is to later on re-release, secret plot that
- 26:43song. I'm going to record that and
- 26:44release that probably at seek near see her books.
- 26:49Very cool again next year. Yeah, as a, as a full, full
- 26:52production release, so it sounds a lot, but I feel like lot
- 26:57better with more stuff like that if you don't mind.
- 27:02Like, what's your, what's your? I don't know.
- 27:04Like, writing composing. And And assembling process.
- 27:09Like, you know what? What gets you to the point of
- 27:14writing a song and actually releasing one, like, what's the
- 27:18what inspires you to do it? What you know, whether it's the
- 27:21naming of the song, The the composition of it.
- 27:24Like what's your, what's your process?
- 27:26Like, first of all, I suck at lyrics.
- 27:31I'm not Lyricist whatsoever, neither can ice speaking Old
- 27:35Norse fluently. I mean, I can Understand it, I
- 27:38can pronounce it but I cannot, I can't think of the words.
- 27:44Sure. And and I can't think of the
- 27:47words of the English either. So, it's like my mind's all jar
- 27:50build in there. So basically, my music process
- 27:55is more of like a freestyle music process.
- 27:59It's like, like using a drum astronomy drum, to meditate
- 28:04with. I will meditate with the toggle
- 28:06hop. I'll get this, I'll lose myself
- 28:10in this France until I find something that sounds good, or
- 28:14sounds correct, or sounds, right?
- 28:16And then I'll say, okay, I'm going to hang on to this,
- 28:18sometimes I have some record it and I'll be like sometimes I'll
- 28:23be in my like in my underwear sometimes it just hit record
- 28:31because I'm just jamming away on it.
- 28:34And Those were you won't see on YouTube at all.
- 28:39No, yeah. I mean hey do you want that kind
- 28:41of Premium content? You know, you might have to
- 28:43subscribe or something, you know.
- 28:44Get a, you know, a no Afghan for you know, underwear.
- 28:48Tala harp Tunes or something. I don't know.
- 28:50But yeah, I like it. Like a paid for yeah, yeah.
- 28:54You want you want this Fork? It over a little bit, you know?
- 28:57But yeah. Can.
- 29:08Like again that fuck. Yeah.
- 29:09That's when I find something. I like then I usually named it
- 29:13based on what it sounds like. okay for instance, for instance,
- 29:21call the ancestors which is my last big single when I first
- 29:26make single and full production, that came with me, creating the
- 29:34melody first and then I started adding drum like a drum beat
- 29:40Which is kind of can't you can't eliminate when you'll have one
- 29:43from. It's a 10 inch hoop is it's very
- 29:48high sounding that. Whoa.
- 29:50Deep sound yeah. So so what I did was I I played
- 29:56around with it and did a small. Segments with different drum
- 30:03beats and stuff that all sounded great.
- 30:07And I decided I would one of these drum beats.
- 30:10I can also duplicate and lower it and the doll so I did that.
- 30:16So it sounded like a lower drawn and it would turn out to be like
- 30:21a two minutes. 23 seconds. Peace.
- 30:25And I was like I'm well what does that sound like?
- 30:28Yeah, I was like call the answer just came to my hat head.
- 30:35The way I wrote Seeker bloat, it was like right after a star, and
- 30:40that was next holiday coming up. So, yeah, it's like this is
- 30:45appropriate. The timeframe of it all.
- 30:46Yeah, yeah. So that's neat that how and I
- 30:51was kind of like keying in on what you were saying, how the
- 30:53music can guide you into this trance like State, almost, where
- 30:59you let you get lost in the Rhythm, you get lost in the
- 31:04auditory parts of You know? Yeah, of course, drumming is
- 31:08always been a component of shamanic, you know, journeying
- 31:12and trance work late, just but I think music in general, has that
- 31:17ability to bring us places that we otherwise wouldn't be.
- 31:23You know, it'll, it'll trigger memories of things or it'll put
- 31:27us in a, in a state of mind that takes us away from our conscious
- 31:31selves, you know. Yeah.
- 31:34And being able to Play that music not just listening to it,
- 31:38but being able to be a part of that process, it's kind of like
- 31:42giving you that connection, you know.
- 31:47It's the it's the physical connecting of the transfer of
- 31:52traveling away from this physical place, you know.
- 31:56And so you've your arm don't want to assume but I mean with
- 32:01your aesthetic and the style of music that you play You Are
- 32:05Would you would you call yourself Norse pagan?
- 32:08Very much Heathen I do Venture into the dramatic as well.
- 32:17Take a look. Like
- 32:46yeah, that's a lot of us. And I have some other Britain
- 32:52and stuff and some Irish. Yeah, so for like, sorry good
- 33:00I'm saying I just get from the Anglo-Saxon roots to incorporate
- 33:05a lot of different dramatic beliefs.
- 33:10Yeah, that's what I was going to try to touch on is, you know?
- 33:12So there might be folks. Listening that are confused when
- 33:15we say, well, Norris dramatic. Like, isn't it all the same?
- 33:18Thing, it is, but it isn't. There's Regional differences
- 33:20because the Norse are strictly Scandinavian and the
- 33:25Scandinavian countries like Denmark, Sweden, Norway Iceland
- 33:30pulled from Mainland, Germania, which is where the Saxons are
- 33:36from. So you talking like, you know,
- 33:37Britain Ireland Scotland, some of the, some of the countries
- 33:40that are what they are today. And originated in the mainland
- 33:46Germanic region And have separated out from there.
- 33:49So that's why, you know, we see even in certain Slavic countries
- 33:53the, you know, we see the Slavic ruse, you know, which are the
- 33:58the or the Swedish ruse, excuse me, that were the founder, you
- 34:05know. So that's where like you're
- 34:06Russian people and all that come from the Slavic people.
- 34:10But so that's what we, that's what he's, you know, folks.
- 34:13Like, you know what he's talking about bart being dramatic and
- 34:16Norse to like, having The ancestral ties to different
- 34:20parts of the world. It's not.
- 34:22And so when it comes to like the religious practices or the
- 34:25spirituality, yes, there are some very close similarities to
- 34:31the names of the Gods, you know, Wilden versus Odin.
- 34:36Don't order versus door, you know, to versus tear and some of
- 34:42the likes and then, so the practices, I think the, the
- 34:46Traditions Maybe Made their way further north to into the
- 34:51Scandinavia and that's why we you know see a lot of those
- 34:57those religious practices similar in those respective
- 35:01areas, a Celia's lead primarily use the Norse names mostly, I do
- 35:08use sometimes interchange even in my prayers of my rituals.
- 35:13Personal rituals alcohol. For by many names as many things
- 35:18like I call him Donner doing our.
- 35:22Yeah. And then I called tier like to
- 35:25sometimes. Yeah.
- 35:26And I called um, Troyer ink ink. Yeah, I've done the same.
- 35:31We've have a similar. So are you know little group
- 35:35here is clearly the folk and clearity is a name for Thor.
- 35:40It's it's thunderer, you know, it's I think attested to in one
- 35:43of the sagas or Somewhere don't remember exactly where, but it's
- 35:46a name that refers to him. And so, you know, we are Thor's,
- 35:51Fokker Thor's people, people of the, it's who really I think is
- 35:54probably most closely translated to or Loosely translated to as
- 36:00thundering storm. Like it, it's definitely
- 36:03connotated to Thor, but 3D is thundering storm.
- 36:08So people of the Thundering storm but I've used donor as a
- 36:13name during a specific. Cific Anglo-Saxon bait or
- 36:18prayer. So I've used like a fire
- 36:22blessing ritual or land blessing ritual with fire where the name
- 36:26of floors is summoned to bless the area but it's said in Old
- 36:29English and yeah, Old English is a Germanic language just like
- 36:34Old Norse has its its old Germanic protein, they all have
- 36:39roots in proto-germanic language.
- 36:41So they are cognate in ways they have similar words for similar
- 36:45things. He's but yeah, I've done a lot
- 36:47of the words that we live of the world's that uses heathens are
- 36:49mostly on Old English as well. Yeah, exactly.
- 36:54I think I talked about this one. One particular word, I talked
- 36:58about it on a very recent podcast and that was the word
- 37:01for of Faith. So first is a word that we see
- 37:06cognate to the English Modern English word of friend.
- 37:11So, it's weird. Where does the old English?
- 37:15Yes. Yeah, weird Old English is weird
- 37:18but weird is Old English. I know what you mean.
- 37:20Yeah. Be Wai Rd like we had.
- 37:22Yeah yeah. Yeah.
- 37:24But it's pronounced like it's all well.
- 37:25That's weird. You know like as it is in its
- 37:27pod. Well that's where that's where
- 37:30we are came from though. Our Modern English for weird
- 37:33came from that but the Old Norse kind of a probably ordered Yeah,
- 37:41so that. Yeah so you know, there's
- 37:44there's that concept of and so that's another interesting thing
- 37:46too. Is I've used that term weird.
- 37:49And and some of the metaphysical things about Mainland dramatic
- 37:54Heathen re like so, like Saxon even re I've used an end and
- 37:59still adopt some of those beliefs were as I don't think
- 38:02they are quite. So largely recognized in
- 38:05Scandinavia is that the concept of The web of weird and or the
- 38:11well, the well concept, you know, like there's this
- 38:15understanding of what gets fed into the well, is going to feed
- 38:22the future. So you know The Well of food is
- 38:25wiz is what we it, you know, it's what contains order log or
- 38:30orderly. And in Old English.
- 38:32It's what contains the past actions in the past Deeds that
- 38:36build into the, to the here and now and then, what we Adhere and
- 38:39now comes for the future, the, the school, the future, the what
- 38:45should or what shall be? Yeah, but I think those are
- 38:48those are I think that the whole concept of, you know, adding
- 38:50luck to the well, that is that is mainland Germanic beliefs.
- 38:55That is a Saxon Heathen, re I think through and through.
- 38:57I don't, I don't know of a tried-and-true documented
- 39:02Source, at least. Anyway, that that suggests that
- 39:05Scandinavians had Identical or similar things, I could be
- 39:09wrong. Again, I'm still picking up and
- 39:10learn on a lot of it but well. So am I have still?
- 39:14I'm still young. Yeah.
- 39:17How long have you been Eatin? I would say when did you first
- 39:26realize? So it may be self-proclaimed
- 39:28like when did you first realize that this is kind of who you
- 39:32are. You know, the old gods were what
- 39:34we're calling to you or your ancestors like you can talk
- 39:37about that if you want. So I would say, yeah.
- 39:39Self-propelled. Okay, here's the history of
- 39:41that. I started out back in 2013 so
- 39:48that'll be Errol Flynn's, late, 2013 about fish at that.
- 39:52I started, I was I was breaking off of Christianity for the
- 39:58second time because I try it again, advice about it was not
- 40:03for me. Like a lot of the things they
- 40:06said was just not connecting. If I could, I will, I could not
- 40:11agree with, you know. Yeah.
- 40:13Like for us it's the church that was going to.
- 40:15They were saying that if you hit somebody would not convert that
- 40:23it's best to not associate with. Hmm.
- 40:27And I'm like, what happens if you're married to that person
- 40:32Yeah, and you and you don't want to break it off.
- 40:35Like does that say condone divorce?
- 40:39Which they also condemn. Oh yeah.
- 40:43So the contradictions Yeah, I kind sections.
- 40:46Yeah and then so I sort of look into a little bit more.
- 40:50I I mean, I came across all across the y of, I also, I
- 40:55listen to a lot of music and stuff that contains songs about
- 40:59the deity's Amon Amarth. Oh yeah.
- 41:03Oh yeah. But that's one thing that got me
- 41:06into and then Vikings, dig into me to me for a while, and I do
- 41:11admit that for quite a few, but one, or two year, one the half
- 41:16to two years, probably, I was frozen true.
- 41:21But they were they Cerberus true, but I started realize
- 41:23like, wait, Valhalla, doesn't sound like the only way to go.
- 41:27Yeah, and I started looking into it more.
- 41:32I hadn't read that much at first, but I did watch some
- 41:38videos and stuff on it open of the Mythos.
- 41:42And For some time, we like, but I moved back to where I live now
- 41:50from, I used to live in Pulaski Tennessee.
- 41:54Yeah, I know exactly where that is.
- 41:57Yeah, that's how much do up there.
- 42:00No. There's not much to do.
- 42:01Unless you're part of the clan, I'll just put it that way.
- 42:05Yeah. Well they have good food.
- 42:07Well yeah, I mean hey it's the South man.
- 42:10You almost you're hard-pressed to find bad food.
- 42:13Even the South, you know? But yeah.
- 42:15But there are some there's I have fallen some bad times up
- 42:18there so I decided to move back and For a while, I was still
- 42:24self-proclaimed, you know, that's a warm meal near.
- 42:27I I did not go to any events or anything, I wasn't.
- 42:33I have a friend of mine and she invited me to Advance my never
- 42:38to go because I was I was mostly focused on music again but the
- 42:43heavy metal stuff. I just too focused on that
- 42:46trying to, you know, start a band or join a band or get good.
- 42:52Sure. And then covid hit hit and then
- 42:57that's when I started looking inward.
- 43:04That's wild man. Just to pause for a second and
- 43:06think about how something that is so earth-shattering and so
- 43:11life-changing for everybody like there's not literally person on
- 43:13this planet that hasn't been affected some way or form or
- 43:16fashion. Bye-bye covid.
- 43:18Yeah. Right.
- 43:18Yeah. And, and, and that was for you,
- 43:21at least a thing that kind of Caused you to shift your focus
- 43:26into something that has. I'm going to let you finish your
- 43:30story, but I did just want to say lead you in a different
- 43:32direction or move you in the direction that yeah, it's better
- 43:34for yourself. So, and that's what I started.
- 43:38I started reading the poetica and some other books.
- 43:43I mean, I got one of these basic books, like you get like a
- 43:47Barnes and Noble and I started reading that for a while, then I
- 43:52ordered a copy of the start. Reading that I'm still working
- 43:58out. I've been working on this for
- 44:00two about a year-and-a-half, the second copy of the second volume
- 44:05of its growth. Okay, one thing I always say to
- 44:11myself, I am a terrible Pagan, but I'm a damn good.
- 44:13He's sorry about the language. Some people use those terms
- 44:19interchangeably but you know, not all heathens, not all pagans
- 44:23are heathens, but all heathens are pagans.
- 44:25Yeah well the reason why I say this the reason why I say this
- 44:28is because I can't stay focused on my reading so much And stuff.
- 44:34And I'm always distracted by like, say like social media and
- 44:38stuff. Oh yeah.
- 44:40Like and I do neat and I do get out every now and then I don't
- 44:44get out enough. And the way I do, I feel
- 44:47rejuvenated Which meant, that's what I, another way I want it
- 44:50made sense because I've always liked used to hike a lot and I
- 44:55realized I can go for hours in the woods, but if I'm outside,
- 45:01if I'm out like cutting grass in a field, I just dogging, like,
- 45:06yeah. It's just like so hot and I can
- 45:09get my energy is like, whoa. Yeah.
- 45:11And I'm like, I like trees by trees are like small bodies of
- 45:16water. Mmm.
- 45:18Rivers in. Yeah, rivers, lakes and streams.
- 45:24Same, but not very big on the ocean.
- 45:30I mean, that's where I grew up front.
- 45:31Like, so I'm from, you know, the Northeast, I'm from New York and
- 45:35I literally grew up near very large bodies of saltwater.
- 45:39I mean, I was an hour away from the Atlantic Ocean.
- 45:41I was 10 minutes from the Long Island Sound, which is a, it's
- 45:45the body of water that separates the North Shore to Connecticut.
- 45:48So but it's salt water. And it has, you know, it's title
- 45:50and it has, you know, all of the things of the salt, the Percy,
- 45:55you know. So there's there's that I think
- 45:57deep down connection for me but I grew up in the woods man.
- 46:01I grew up whenever I want it to play or do anything.
- 46:04It was, you know, I didn't care about the video games, I didn't
- 46:06want to go watch movies. Going to be out in nature, man.
- 46:09I wanted to climb trees. I wanted to, you know, walk
- 46:13through the swamps and stuff. So the so, you know, the
- 46:16hardwoods the the upstate, and then the forest, you know, the
- 46:20streams, the rivers of that sort of thing.
- 46:21That's where I feel the most like, at home.
- 46:24When I'm in nature, is there? I always have this, like, this
- 46:27bill, but go ahead. They always have this, like,
- 46:30maybe yearning, perhaps for the for the see, you know, just
- 46:33because I think it's yeah, close to me in my heart from where I
- 46:36was born and raised, but But yeah, it's not nearly as it's
- 46:40not nearly, as prominent for me, as just being out, amongst the
- 46:43trees and in the river and that sort of thing, I think I'm
- 46:47always called to the mountains myself.
- 46:50But the thing is, I do for myself enjoying a good Ocean
- 46:57Walk or something like that. Around the oh yeah.
- 47:00As long as it's not like a desert Beach like area, where
- 47:03there's a bunch of people. Yeah.
- 47:06Yeah. Where you have a sister?
- 47:08See kind of deal. I like Cliffs or something like
- 47:10that. Like like see some Seaside
- 47:12Cliffs or even like when it's like Crystal and, you know,
- 47:19she's like Crystal like in the Caribbean, for sure, for sure.
- 47:23I like you go down here to go Shores and like me or for de
- 47:30Panama City Beach. Like I've been there so many
- 47:33times and that's pretty nice because it's the Gulf Coast.
- 47:35But yeah, you know, there's a certain areas.
- 47:38That just speak better to you or speak more to you.
- 47:41So yeah. I mean self-proclaimed Heathen
- 47:44for almost a decade now you'd say because I mean you're
- 47:46talking don't you know, late 2013, we're going to be in 2023
- 47:50soon so you know, you've been you've been dabbling at least a
- 47:53bit for the best part of a decade and how much is, how much
- 47:58is your music helped with the whole / progress in your
- 48:03paganism or you're even read whatever label you want to put
- 48:05to it as like how much is that? Been a part of your part of your
- 48:09path because, you know, I look at some of the examples of
- 48:12skaldak. I mean, it's called it poetry is
- 48:15a big thing in Norse in Germanic culture.
- 48:19Its they were the storytellers. They were the ones that that
- 48:22presented things to Kings and the Royal courts.
- 48:27And they had, they had a very, very prominent place in society.
- 48:33Has that been a part of your like practices?
- 48:37Like this D, do you get? I feel like there's any ties to.
- 48:41I don't know maybe groggy or some of the other like it's
- 48:45called yeah. Gods or yeah bro, he is one of
- 48:49my was like look to I don't often Tim as much but I do he
- 48:56flow heat flows through me whenever I play this.
- 48:59Yes the only thing is sometimes I think my music is also kind of
- 49:03distraction for my history. Practice like like sometimes,
- 49:08like I have, I feel like I have to practice more than I have to
- 49:10breed. Yeah.
- 49:14Practice meaning like practice music or practice as a heathen,
- 49:18practice music and that over over reading something.
- 49:23Yeah, but I want to, I want to be in on that though because,
- 49:26you know, you're, you're, you're doing it.
- 49:28You're it's the living part of your beliefs, you can sit and
- 49:32read, you know, all 700 and some odd different Icelandic sagas.
- 49:36And you could read the Highland Haley end.
- 49:38And you could read all these different texts and become book,
- 49:42smart, but how are you living it?
- 49:43How are Because live even re is a living religion.
- 49:46This is a living folkway. Yeah, yeah I've been working.
- 49:50This is why I say But I, yeah, exactly, yeah, I understand the
- 49:58social constructs of the Heat and the he thinks he can cause
- 50:01Strokes of a used like the whole idea of tribe and Kindred and
- 50:11can. Yeah, that's funny because I
- 50:14got, I get, I get asked a lot of times, well, maybe not a lot,
- 50:17but I got asked recently by very close friend of mine.
- 50:22He's like, so you read any good books lately?
- 50:23And I was like, No, I don't really read a lot, I'm too busy
- 50:27doing stuff, you know, and I felt bad in a way because I'm
- 50:30like, wow, you know, this guy's pretty into reading, you know
- 50:33what I mean? Like, and he's always looking
- 50:34for, you know, really interesting reading materials
- 50:37and stuff. And I was like, I got nothing
- 50:38for you man. Not least not right now, because
- 50:40I'm not, that's not where my head is.
- 50:41That's not where my focus is. I'm not too much interested in
- 50:45getting stuck in a book, not that there's anything against
- 50:47it, I think it's great, but I that's not where I was at.
- 50:50So I was like, I really got nothing to offer you man.
- 50:52I'm sorry. Now, if you're looking to, you
- 50:53know, talk About what it's like, you know, walking in a river for
- 50:57three quarters of a mile. Then I'm your guy, you know.
- 51:00Yeah. Or or understanding the
- 51:03construct of the Heat and booze and stuff.
- 51:09Yeah. Yeah.
- 51:11And yeah like I think there might be value to a mix a
- 51:16healthy mix of all like I mean there's there's definitely a
- 51:19place for taking time to study and learn.
- 51:23I mean I think there's not Enough of that to go around for
- 51:26for a lot of us and then you know, there's some people that
- 51:29that's all that they do, that's all that and they are so smart
- 51:32and they're so giving of their knowledge.
- 51:34You know, there's a lot of content creators that do that.
- 51:37And I'm like, man, you know, if that's like a full-time job,
- 51:39just to be in the Academia, give me a parts of it all, you know,
- 51:44like you are a walking Encyclopedia of Northern culture
- 51:50and archeological findings and languages and such like, Like
- 51:55that's a full-time job if you if you want to make it such.
- 52:00Yeah have time for that you know that's great.
- 52:07And then there you know the ones that want to share it than for
- 52:10folks like us that don't have the interest or the desire to
- 52:14get you know, buried in a book. We can go to those guys.
- 52:18Yeah. And you can play your music and
- 52:20I can, you know, go wait in a river for hours or Whatever.
- 52:24Yeah, you know. So yeah, man.
- 52:29Yeah, good. That's good stuff.
- 52:31Yeah, it's a crazy where like they are past lead.
- 52:37Yeah definitely and I'm sure you're probably, I think all of
- 52:43us have a similar story in that, you know, the Heathen or the
- 52:47Pagan, you know, whatever the person that we are today is not
- 52:51the same person that we were yesterday.
- 52:53It's not the same person that we were last year's, not the same
- 52:55person that we were. I don't practice the way that I
- 52:58do. I don't live As a heathen, the
- 53:01way I do the same way as I did even last year or five years ago
- 53:07or whatever. Right.
- 53:08Like, I've evolved and I've grown so much and I'm growing
- 53:12and evolving every day and it's really, I think a lot of us have
- 53:16a similar story to tell, you know, like you were saying
- 53:20starting things off where you ended up at a point where you
- 53:23were pretty, bro. So true, I've never talked to
- 53:26anybody that openly admitted to that, you know.
- 53:30And so that's that's, that's like, oh, that's reality man.
- 53:32Like that's refreshing. And yeah, that honesty is no.
- 53:36I carry that. I care that same with me.
- 53:38Everywhere I go. I mean Iceland I slip and fall
- 53:47down a laugh about it. Well, you almost have like no we
- 53:58were and here I am. I mean it could have been worse.
- 54:28You got to learn from your mistakes.
- 54:30I think it's. Yeah, you know it's the mistake
- 54:33is only bad if you don't learn from it and however big or small
- 54:37you want to consider right? Obviously, I think the whole you
- 54:44know, brochure. True thing is largely due to
- 54:45Pope, pop media, and pop culture and things that just really
- 54:51strike certain people's fancy and nerve, you know, they're
- 54:54like, yeah, you know. I'm at the Sending of Ragnar,
- 54:57and they're sending over all over you and like, literally 90%
- 55:01of Scandinavia or whatever, like, you're nothing special
- 55:03buddy. I mean, get over yourself and
- 55:06just exactly to that to that point, right?
- 55:12Like that was a Gateway for you. It was it was something that led
- 55:14to where you are now and and it's not the end point but it
- 55:19was a point and the point being is that you use that as a means
- 55:24to figure things out. For yourself and actually find
- 55:28where the living even re resides that's not in, it's not, it's
- 55:32not necessarily in the stories on hundred percent.
- 55:36It's not, it's not in the mantras, it's not in, you know,
- 55:40it's in living it. It's in doing it.
- 55:41It's in being about it and to whatever, and that might be, for
- 55:44some, it might be very shamanic for some, it may be animistic
- 55:47for some, it might be music. Yeah, yeah, for others.
- 55:50It might be crafts, you know, Craftsmen and women, that people
- 55:53that we've people that. So people, that carve people
- 55:55that Do you know what? If you cancel, you know what I
- 56:00mean? Like it's yeah.
- 56:01Rrr Heathen. Communities are so diverse and
- 56:08and Encompass so many different walks of life that's I think one
- 56:11of the beautiful things about You know, just paganism, but he
- 56:15even read as a whole. Like there's so many things
- 56:18going on that that fits so many different.
- 56:20Like, you don't have to be the warrior, you know, you don't
- 56:23have to have badass, you can be Weaver, you can be the musician,
- 56:27you can be a quiet herbalist, you can sit at home and just,
- 56:30you know, garden and be a good, he than, you know what I mean.
- 56:33Like, there's no Dogma. There's no, like you have to be
- 56:36that. You don't have to be a rune
- 56:37reader. You don't have to do any of
- 56:38those things. It's whatever you are inspired
- 56:41and called to do and then you how you live it, It how you live
- 56:44it, sincerely. Yeah, and that's one of the I
- 56:46think that, you know, just the most refreshing things, you
- 56:49know, you're sitting here talking about the decade or so
- 56:51that you've been Heathen and then how much of that time has
- 56:54been sent spent around music and and expressing your Heathen, or
- 57:01through song or through music? Yeah.
- 57:04It's beautiful. You know, but I can't event that
- 57:07I still am into like some some pros truetype things.
- 57:11Like I do, enjoy. Historical combat like him.
- 57:17Oh yeah. I mean that's because it's a
- 57:20science. It's martial arts.
- 57:24Yes martial art and one point before, before I was into the
- 57:28Viking thing, I was mostly in the samurai stuff like the
- 57:33katanas and stuff like that. Yeah.
- 57:36And then oh yeah, then I started getting more into like European
- 57:40martial arts and stuff. Don't realize that this Is just
- 57:43as good, you know, I was always, I used to be the old guitars
- 57:47better than the in the, the long sword.
- 57:51Yeah. Yeah, they were, they were
- 57:57crafted for certain purposes. To be used in a certain way and
- 58:00they, you know, in the right hands.
- 58:02Yeah. Culturally regionally, I mean,
- 58:05in in the right hands. They're all equally deadly.
- 58:09Yeah, in the right. Train hands are all equally
- 58:11deadly. So I don't think it's a matter
- 58:13of, you know, which one's better than the other.
- 58:14It's which one was? Because you got to look at that
- 58:16too. Like the katana was designed as
- 58:18a slash and stuff type wet and because of the armor that was
- 58:22used at the time like yeah. You could slice open things with
- 58:27the katana. And then, you know, you look at
- 58:29the, the heavy and weighty European broadswords, are long
- 58:33swords, like those things were meant to not necessarily / as
- 58:36they much were meant to pierce into Crush, but he had other
- 58:39yeah. Yeah.
- 58:46Yeah, true. You're right, yeah.
- 58:50Right. But it was they were more
- 58:54flexible as well so that they can stall for you.
- 58:59That's the other thing is it has a little bit more brittle when
- 59:02it came to this? Well yeah, the thing is they
- 59:06were bamboo versus steel you know or the type of armor that
- 59:12they had to cut through, you know, I mean yeah, different
- 59:16different style, different different sort of thing.
- 59:18Yeah. But it also the steel was
- 59:20passed. Passed down because it was so
- 59:22rare in that country. Yeah, that's true too.
- 59:26And it's, it's interesting though.
- 59:30The only thing the interesting part about guitar though is it's
- 59:33held in by 110. You talking about the Tang, how
- 59:39it's how? It's like?
- 59:40Yeah, yeah, it's it's held in to it's handled to the hilt by when
- 59:48pin is made of bamboo, I'll tell you what man, bamboo is some of
- 59:52the lightest and most durable material.
- 59:58Like I mean literally homes are built out of this stuff in.
- 1:00:02It's incredible how lightweight but how strong it is, you know?
- 1:00:07So that doesn't surprise, they were using steel for at one
- 1:00:09point that 10 but they changed the bamboo because the damage
- 1:00:14the blade would wiggle and forth that pain.
- 1:00:19So they away just use bamboo so they can just see the easily
- 1:00:23snap it and replace it. Yeah.
- 1:00:26And I mean it's readily sourced because it's indigenous to the
- 1:00:30land so you know that they can make their own right simmer.
- 1:00:33I made their own. Yeah.
- 1:00:36That's all. I just learned it now because I
- 1:00:42didn't realize that it was. I didn't realize that either.
- 1:00:46So I learned another thing today.
- 1:00:48Yeah. He always, well, I'm always
- 1:00:51learning. I like long.
- 1:00:53You got to man. You can't say whether it's a
- 1:00:55book or whether it's through life practices, you know?
- 1:00:57I mean, yeah, if you haven't learned something new, Today and
- 1:01:02then don't learn something new tomorrow.
- 1:01:05Then you've wasted a day, always always look to learn something
- 1:01:08new is, I think is a good. Whether it's a word or a
- 1:01:12historical fact, or how to do something learn, a new skill,
- 1:01:15learn a new word, learn something new man like open
- 1:01:18trade. Yeah, broaden your knowledge to
- 1:01:22be of better service to the community around you to the
- 1:01:25people around you because you never know when that yeah
- 1:01:27knowledge could get put to use and you could help.
- 1:01:30You know people near to you and dear to you.
- 1:01:32Yeah, just like this late last year.
- 1:01:35I think it was either last year the year before It may be the
- 1:01:39last year. And I've only made a very bad
- 1:01:48but made. Yeah, yeah, that's a fun.
- 1:01:53That's a fun process. Yeah, the thing is I know my
- 1:02:00ratios now, because That's not something card.
- 1:02:05My second-best conked out like at seven point eight, six
- 1:02:09percent is like way they quit and I'm like, okay, this is
- 1:02:14gonna be really sweet. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:02:17Those handy volumes than to be a bit more lockjaw.
- 1:02:20See ya? Ya ya then but the thing is I
- 1:02:23used one pound too much and that, and that, and this, and
- 1:02:29the third badge as well. I was using a 3 2 1.
- 1:02:34And I was making it in big badges like 5 gallons. and, The
- 1:02:42I went 16 pounds for the five gallons of 15.
- 1:02:47Whoa, they go real bit sweeter. Yeah, yeah yeah.
- 1:02:52The first the one conked out the other one went to 12 live and
- 1:02:57learn, right? It's Alchemy, it's chemistry.
- 1:02:59It's you got to figure out that sweet spot.
- 1:03:01You know and you learned a skill, you learn, you learn
- 1:03:03something out of it, all, you know, you know what, the ratios
- 1:03:06are what the right proportions are and then Once you figure
- 1:03:11that part out, you're Off to the Races.
- 1:03:13You're good to go. Yeah I was kind of slow down on
- 1:03:16that because of my music and my shorts and stuff.
- 1:03:20Yeah. You have too much because it
- 1:03:21going on it, you know, get a bit overwhelming.
- 1:03:23But so for this, for the folks that want to keep up with your
- 1:03:27scholarly Works thing because that seems like a really focused
- 1:03:30effort on your part, of course. Yeah.
- 1:03:33Is there like I mean we're going to we're going to put the
- 1:03:36YouTube channel Link in the description and in the show
- 1:03:38notes of the podcast, we're To put as much as we can do you
- 1:03:42guys do you have like a you know, like a link tree or
- 1:03:44anything that way everybody can go to and then find all your
- 1:03:46stuff there? Yeah, I've only tree now sweet.
- 1:03:50Like I can send that to you or you can copy it from my okay.
- 1:03:58Great. Yeah.
- 1:03:59So anybody that watches your videos knows that it's there.
- 1:04:01But we'll definitely annotate that in the show notes and in
- 1:04:04the description of this podcast. So that way people that want to
- 1:04:07know more about your music and Be learned, right?
- 1:04:11Maybe they want to pick up the instruments themselves and they
- 1:04:13can learn from watching your videos.
- 1:04:16Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:04:16There you go. Yeah.
- 1:04:18And I also they all have created merch Okay good merchandise.
- 1:04:23That's I love. I love merchandise the you know
- 1:04:26so yeah. Yeah I'm going through Auntie
- 1:04:28spring or it's now spring I think now.
- 1:04:31Yep. That's that's where I do my
- 1:04:32merch to man. Yeah very cool thing is the
- 1:04:36thing. Family figure out how to get the
- 1:04:52blood of my black logo to version two.
- 1:04:55Oh yeah they go. That thing is like well can we
- 1:04:58make a white one and a red one? Please nice.
- 1:05:01That's always good to have those hookups.
- 1:05:03Yeah, the reason why I want to do a red window if I do like
- 1:05:06what a great look like the young old runestones.
- 1:05:10Very cool. Very cool.
- 1:05:12So we have, yeah, you have merchandise.
- 1:05:15So people can definitely support you in that way.
- 1:05:17And as I said, it is a great way to support because not only are
- 1:05:20you getting Do you know monetary Kickback from the sale of your
- 1:05:24merchandise but people are advertising your brand you know
- 1:05:30so people like oh that's cool where do I get that?
- 1:05:32And then they can, you know, it would point you back to that
- 1:05:35whole thing. So yeah, that's actually this
- 1:05:38week order me a sample. Oh yeah.
- 1:05:46I've done that before too. And I actually have some stuff
- 1:05:48on my own store that I'm like, I want to order me something like
- 1:05:51that. I want to be able to wear it.
- 1:05:52Yeah, I'm terrible about. Yeah, advertising my own brand.
- 1:05:55But that's, that's a job in and of itself.
- 1:05:57You get it, you get it. But yeah, the spring spring
- 1:06:00hoodies are so soft, though. They are man their great
- 1:06:03quality. So I mean, here we are, right?
- 1:06:05I mean not a sponsor. Yeah.
- 1:06:08You know, spring.com and like, if you're going to look to make
- 1:06:10your own merchandise. So for anything, it's I've
- 1:06:13gotten tons of good reviews on the quality of the hoodies and
- 1:06:17the t-shirts. I own one of my own t-shirts as
- 1:06:20well and it is, it's good quality.
- 1:06:21Leti. It's well-made.
- 1:06:22Yeah, the logo looks great. You know, yeah, but once I get
- 1:06:26the white like the white or red logos, I can start doing darker
- 1:06:29color first. And then yeah.
- 1:06:32So looking forward to this as well.
- 1:06:38Perfect. Well then we're gonna, we're
- 1:06:39gonna put the links relink definitely in the show notes and
- 1:06:42description, so that way everybody that's listening and
- 1:06:45watching to this right now, we'll have the opportunity to go
