Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Hey there, welcome to the week three recap of Birds Weekly,
- 0:14Speaker 1: presented by the Inside the Birds Network. That's Barry Brooks,
- 0:17Speaker 1: I'm Derrick Gunn, and oh my goodness, it was a
- 0:20Speaker 1: Monday night fiasco in Chicago and B.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Brooks.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I have to start with this. After the game, your
- 0:29Speaker 1: head coach, your quarterback, and a number of players all
- 0:34Speaker 1: agreed in unison, we weren't ready for this game tonight.
- 0:39Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there thinking, wait a minute.
- 0:43Speaker 3: No duh.
- 0:44Speaker 1: You had eight days to get ready for this game, okay?
- 0:48Speaker 1: You play once a week. You're leading your division, and
- 0:53Speaker 1: you saw what happened in the landscape in your division.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Dallas blew another game. Washington upset Seattle. Giants hold on
- 1:01Speaker 1: to win a low-scoring game. And you're not ready Monday night.
- 1:05Speaker 1: You're the only game in town on Monday night, and
- 1:08Speaker 1: you're not ready? From the coaches on down to the players?
- 1:13Speaker 1: I know you heard it. What did you think when
- 1:15Speaker 1: you heard that?
- 1:17Speaker 4: I didn't have to hear him say it. I mean,
- 1:19Speaker 4: we saw. We all witnessed them getting their ass kicked
- 1:22Speaker 4: all over the field. Coaches got outplayed.
- 1:26Speaker 3: I mean, Vic Fangio had it handed to him on
- 1:28Speaker 3: the plate. I mean, he.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Got spanked against, you know what I mean? And ain't
- 1:35Speaker 4: nothing else you can say about it. They got spanked, man.
- 1:38Speaker 4: And I'm going to tell you the truth. It's the
- 1:43Speaker 4: same stuff that's been happening the two weeks prior.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:46Speaker 3: We were just good enough to get through it.
- 1:47Speaker 4: I mean, it was the exact same football they've been
- 1:52Speaker 4: playing for the last two weeks. It's just they faced
- 1:55Speaker 4: a team that was not actually better than them, but
- 1:59Speaker 4: better than the two teams they played, which were bottom dwellers.
- 2:02Speaker 4: And they finally, you know, face the team that they're ranked,
- 2:06Speaker 4: you know, high enough that, you know, and they're good
- 2:08Speaker 4: enough that they could take advantage of an Eagles team
- 2:11Speaker 4: that just wasn't been, they haven't been prepared the entire season.
- 2:14Speaker 4: They haven't been prepared, you know, from the first day,
- 2:16Speaker 4: from the first snap. I mean, I'm going to say this,
- 2:19Speaker 4: Jalen Hurst has been ready. But other than that, I
- 2:23Speaker 4: don't see anybody else.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Oh, I take that back. Quinion Mitchell is ready.
- 2:27Speaker 2: Oh, he was balling.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yes.
- 2:28Speaker 4: But those two are the only two players that I
- 2:31Speaker 4: saw that balled out That last game. I mean, it
- 2:36Speaker 4: was a shellacking. I mean, they served it up to
- 2:38Speaker 4: him and made him like it. And, you know, they
- 2:40Speaker 4: missed him doing that. They made me like it. I
- 2:43Speaker 4: sat back there and saw Ben Johnson put a clinic
- 2:46Speaker 4: on as far as running offensive plays.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Yes.
- 2:49Speaker 4: The way he was able to execute, you know, doing
- 2:52Speaker 4: all the, you know, the motions and the different blocking
- 2:55Speaker 4: schemes that he had implemented, man.
- 2:56Speaker 3: He did everything from wham blocking to traps to counter.
- 3:02Speaker 3: Counter Trey, they ran duo. They did whatever they wanted
- 3:08Speaker 3: to do.
- 3:09Speaker 4: And they ran it out of two tight end sets
- 3:11Speaker 4: and both, you know, committed and lovely. They just going everywhere, blocking,
- 3:17Speaker 4: running out on route.
- 3:18Speaker 3: They did everything.
- 3:20Speaker 4: We just got out maxed, out class, out coached, out physical,
- 3:24Speaker 4: out everything. From the first snap to the last snap,
- 3:28Speaker 4: there was no question in my mind who was going
- 3:30Speaker 4: to win that game.
- 3:31Speaker 3: No question.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Hey, look, Ben Johnson came out, and we know he's
- 3:36Speaker 1: considered one of the most creative offensive minds in the NFL.
- 3:40Speaker 1: First two plays, you see, as Case Keenum is calling signals,
- 3:46Speaker 1: you see the linebackers creeping up, creeping up to fill
- 3:49Speaker 1: gaps because they're thinking, oh, we know they're going to
- 3:52Speaker 1: try to come out and establish the run on us.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Oh, no.
- 3:54Speaker 1: Ben Johnson comes out throwing a football. You know, fake
- 3:57Speaker 1: the handoff. Case Keenum, one, two, three, throw. Positive yards,
- 4:01Speaker 1: positive yards. And that was the theme for most of
- 4:04Speaker 1: the night, is that everything the Eagles thought Ben Johnson
- 4:09Speaker 1: and Case Keenum were going to do, he didn't do it.
- 4:12Speaker 1: And Case Keenum, 38 years old, hadn't thrown a pass
- 4:15Speaker 1: in the NFL since Christmas Eve of 2023 when he
- 4:18Speaker 1: was playing with Houston. Now, some people say, man, he
- 4:23Speaker 1: was looking like Joe Montana. You know who he looked
- 4:25Speaker 1: like to me? Brock Purdy in rhythmic throws.
- 4:29Speaker 2: One, two, three.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Man, every time he was throwing the ball, you got
- 4:31Speaker 1: dudes standing wide open in the flats and DB's five
- 4:34Speaker 1: yards behind him.
- 4:35Speaker 2: I'm like, what the heck is going on here? And
- 4:37Speaker 2: they didn't adjust. Vic Fangio's guys didn't adjust B. Brooks.
- 4:42Speaker 2: I was shocked. Case Keenum had a clean jersey all
- 4:46Speaker 2: stinking night.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Bro, I mean, that's what I'm talking about. And We
- 4:50Speaker 4: have been outmatching our class in the second half. I mean,
- 4:54Speaker 4: we don't even know how to do any type of
- 4:56Speaker 4: in-game adjustments. The second half, we have just been out-coached
- 4:59Speaker 4: and out-physicaled and out-everything, man. We can't stop the run.
- 5:04Speaker 4: We can't generate pass rush. We got guys that can cover.
- 5:07Speaker 4: But now I'm looking at the safety. It's like, what
- 5:09Speaker 4: are we going to do with safety? I mean, we
- 5:11Speaker 4: looking at Drew McCool. I look at Drew McCool. I
- 5:13Speaker 4: thought we was, you know, kind of safe with him.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I thought.
- 5:16Speaker 4: He was going to be the guy. You know, everybody
- 5:17Speaker 4: said he was Teflon Don. You know, we know he's
- 5:20Speaker 4: going to be starting.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Should he be starting?
- 5:23Speaker 4: What I saw that last game, well, the last three games,
- 5:27Speaker 4: is a guy that's been outmatched in our class because
- 5:29Speaker 4: he's still young. He doesn't know what's going on, man.
- 5:32Speaker 4: He don't know anything about being in the NFL, man.
- 5:35Speaker 4: He only played, what, a half a season last year?
- 5:37Speaker 4: And you expect him to come in and play at
- 5:39Speaker 4: a high level? He can't play at that level yet
- 5:41Speaker 4: because he hasn't seen that level yet. He hasn't been
- 5:45Speaker 4: around that type of level yet. So how do you
- 5:47Speaker 4: expect him to play at that type of level? And,
- 5:49Speaker 4: you know, with them bringing in the new guy, I
- 5:51Speaker 4: forget what his name is.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Oh, my goodness.
- 5:54Speaker 4: From the Colts, the new guy they just got. Well,
- 5:59Speaker 4: whatever it is, they're talking about, well, they brought him
- 6:02Speaker 4: in to play safety. I'm thinking a little bit. I'm
- 6:05Speaker 4: actually thinking, man.
- 6:06Speaker 3: We may need to go ahead and.
- 6:08Speaker 4: Just put him at the slot and put Coop at
- 6:13Speaker 4: the safety.
- 6:13Speaker 2: Position No, no, no, no.
- 6:18Speaker 4: What else are we going to do? We can't play safety.
- 6:20Speaker 4: We can't come up and stop the run. We can't cover.
- 6:23Speaker 4: We need something out there to stop the bleeding.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Coop can't do his job description as it is right now.
- 6:30Speaker 2: I want to know where he's been for three games.
- 6:32Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 6:33Speaker 3: Well, man, he was kicking it, man. He was kicking it.
- 6:37Speaker 3: You know what? The league was easy to him, man.
- 6:40Speaker 2: He was on Celebrity Island somewhere, man.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Well, you know, I mean.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I mean, just.
- 6:48Speaker 4: And regardless of that, you know, let me just really
- 6:51Speaker 4: say what I want to say, man.
- 6:52Speaker 3: And what I'm saying is this team has always been
- 6:56Speaker 3: built on the trenches.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 6:58Speaker 4: Defensive line, offensive line. The majority of money that's, you know, dictated... Yeah,
- 7:05Speaker 4: the quarterback, he's up here. You know what I'm saying?
- 7:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 3: All the rest of the money is dictated to the trenches.
- 7:13Speaker 4: He paid both guys big money. Davis and Carter, big money.
- 7:18Speaker 4: And neither one of them showed up and played. Now,
- 7:22Speaker 4: I'm not talking behind their back or anything like that.
- 7:24Speaker 4: I'm just telling the truth. The honest guy don't lie.
- 7:27Speaker 4: I can sit down and talk to anybody about game planning.
- 7:31Speaker 3: We can watch film together.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I mean, I'm more than welcome to sit down and
- 7:35Speaker 4: watch film with any of them because I see what's
- 7:37Speaker 4: going on.
- 7:39Speaker 3: I see guys getting their ass kicked. Offensive line?
- 7:42Speaker 2: Come on, man.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Come on, man. You know, I had high expectations for
- 7:46Speaker 3: Tyler Steen.
- 7:48Speaker 4: Another year developed. This is a contract year for him.
- 7:50Speaker 4: You're supposed to be balling. This is a contract year.
- 7:52Speaker 4: You're supposed to be out going out and get that money, man.
- 7:55Speaker 4: You got to play better than you're playing. I mean,
- 7:56Speaker 4: I saw guys kicking his ass. These are just guys.
- 7:59Speaker 4: These are just guys. These are guys. Just guys. I mean,
- 8:03Speaker 4: I don't see the same caliber of guys, you know,
- 8:06Speaker 4: that would dictate this type of, you know, Lack of blocking, man.
- 8:13Speaker 4: We got running backs and quarterbacks running for their lives, man.
- 8:16Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 8:18Speaker 5: Come on, man.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And I'm looking at him like, what is going on?
- 8:21Speaker 4: I understand Jerkins. Jerkins moving over to the left side.
- 8:24Speaker 4: He say he hasn't done it.
- 8:25Speaker 3: You know, I get it.
- 8:26Speaker 4: You know, he just practiced two weeks and being a
- 8:32Speaker 4: left guard.
- 8:32Speaker 3: But no, no. It comes a time where you got
- 8:37Speaker 3: to blow up, let him drop, and ball. Period.
- 8:41Speaker 2: What do you mean let him drop?
- 8:43Speaker 3: This ball's got to drop, bro. I'm not trying to
- 8:45Speaker 3: hear nothing else.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I didn't think you would come out and say it.
- 8:48Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 8:49Speaker 3: I'm being realistic. It's not a cuss word.
- 8:51Speaker 4: I'm just being very honest with what I'm witnessing out there.
- 8:56Speaker 4: He is not playing thick. We understand with the guard position,
- 9:04Speaker 4: that's the fastest way to the quarterback. Besides, it's the
- 9:07Speaker 4: fastest way to the quarterback. He wasn't playing well at
- 9:09Speaker 4: guard the first week. And then we move here, he's
- 9:12Speaker 4: definitely not playing center, but he's definitely not playing good
- 9:15Speaker 4: at guard right now.
- 9:17Speaker 3: He's got to do something. Maybe we go get Micah,
- 9:20Speaker 3: the rookie. Put him in there.
- 9:22Speaker 4: Because right now, I just don't see anything. We need
- 9:25Speaker 4: to stop the bleeding, man. I'm tired of getting Jalen
- 9:28Speaker 4: Hurts crushed. You know what I'm saying? And then when
- 9:30Speaker 4: that cat hit him, bro, I didn't see anybody get,
- 9:34Speaker 4: you know what I'm saying, bro... i know they cut
- 9:39Speaker 4: it off i know i understand i get that they
- 9:42Speaker 4: cut it off you couldn't see everybody right comes up
- 9:45Speaker 4: right but this is why this is why i'm saying
- 9:47Speaker 4: this and i want them to hear it too so
- 9:50Speaker 4: they can say that they come back and say oh
- 9:51Speaker 4: people's just talking talking.

- 12:40Speaker 4: The reason why you didn't see them in the film,
- 12:44Speaker 4: the reason why you didn't see them come up and
- 12:46Speaker 4: fight for Jalen when he got knocked out, when he
- 12:49Speaker 4: got decapitated on the sideline, is because they don't freaking hustle.
- 12:54Speaker 3: They don't finish plays. They walking around while the play
- 12:57Speaker 3: is still going.
- 12:58Speaker 4: While you see the Bears going out there and finishing plays,
- 13:01Speaker 4: running to the ball. Their whole damn defense was right there,
- 13:06Speaker 4: and they walking around spectating.
- 13:09Speaker 3: You want to spectate, buy a ticket, man.
- 13:11Speaker 2: No, realistically, you know.
- 13:13Speaker 3: What I'm saying?
- 13:14Speaker 4: And they're like, well, they got their, no. It's no
- 13:17Speaker 4: such thing as getting there late. You run to the ball,
- 13:20Speaker 4: you finish the play. Too many times I see them
- 13:23Speaker 4: like this and watching and spectating.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Now, if I'm lying, I'm dying.
- 13:29Speaker 4: They need to finish plays. The Bears finish plays. The
- 13:34Speaker 4: Commanders finish plays. The Titans finish plays.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:39Speaker 4: We don't finish playing. It's too much walking around. Too
- 13:42Speaker 4: much spectating.
- 13:44Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 13:44Speaker 4: I can remember when I was playing, bro, I promise you, dog,
- 13:47Speaker 4: honest to goodness, I'm playing for the Steelers after every play.
- 13:52Speaker 3: If you didn't make it to the camera, bro, that
- 13:55Speaker 3: was a fine, bro.
- 13:56Speaker 2: What?
- 13:57Speaker 4: If you wasn't running to the ball, it was a fine.
- 14:01Speaker 4: We was taking people out, bro.
- 14:03Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 14:04Speaker 4: Don't stand around the pile. They changed that rule because
- 14:07Speaker 4: of us, bro. Bro, I'm telling you, Alan Fanica was
- 14:11Speaker 4: the king of that. The king of that.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Oh, sit there, you know, sit there around Apollo if
- 14:16Speaker 3: you want to. He gonna clear that out. All of them, bro.
- 14:20Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 14:21Speaker 4: And the reason why you don't see them come and
- 14:24Speaker 4: you see Jalen, you know what I'm saying, sitting there
- 14:26Speaker 4: by himself with Smitty. Smitty the only one they're trying to,
- 14:30Speaker 4: you know, he about to get a fine. And that's
- 14:34Speaker 4: another thing. I done had, I done been fined three
- 14:37Speaker 4: times for fighting for my quarterback three times. I only paid,
- 14:44Speaker 4: even though I got a fine, I only paid a
- 14:47Speaker 4: half a fine. The only reason I paid half a
- 14:49Speaker 4: fine is because it was a young quarterback and he
- 14:52Speaker 4: couldn't afford to pay the entire fine. I said, man,
- 14:55Speaker 4: I'll pay half. Don't worry about it. I'll pay the half, bro.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Because quarterbacks know you there fighting for them. Jalen was
- 15:02Speaker 4: there by himself, man. Him and Smitty. Smitty got like
- 15:05Speaker 4: five guys around him, big boys around him. He still
- 15:08Speaker 4: want to fight. Nobody got fined. Nobody got a late hit. Man,
- 15:12Speaker 4: I'll take that hit, bro. I'll take that hit. I'll
- 15:15Speaker 4: take the 15 yards, man, because you don't hit my
- 15:18Speaker 4: quarterback like that.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Now, there's another camera angle that shows more players came
- 15:24Speaker 1: over there and there was a lot of pushing and shoving.
- 15:26Speaker 2: We didn't see that.
- 15:27Speaker 1: We saw Smitty being surrounded by Bears pushing and shoving.
- 15:31Speaker 1: But there is another camera angle that shows offensive linemen
- 15:34Speaker 1: coming over and stuff like that.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Coming over.
- 15:37Speaker 4: They should have been there, D-Gun. They should have been there.
- 15:41Speaker 4: That means you're finishing the play. Wherever the ball is,
- 15:44Speaker 4: you got to go. You got to go. Why are
- 15:48Speaker 4: you not right there around your quarterback running out of bounds?
- 15:52Speaker 4: You got to finish the play, man. We don't finish
- 15:54Speaker 4: the play. And that's the honest to goodness truth. You
- 15:58Speaker 4: sit down and watch this game. I'm watching it again.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I'm watching. And I'm looking at how.
- 16:02Speaker 4: Many times I see guys, guys are still running around.
- 16:06Speaker 4: They hitting your running back, knocking your receiver out. And
- 16:08Speaker 4: they like this, spectating. Oh, that was a nice run.
- 16:12Speaker 4: What is going on, man? They could have sat up
- 16:16Speaker 4: there next to me in the office with me. That's
- 16:18Speaker 4: what they could have done. You know what I'm saying?
- 16:20Speaker 4: Sit down next to me. We can sit down, chop
- 16:21Speaker 4: it up. I had a nice little, you know, bowl
- 16:24Speaker 4: of noodles. You know, I got to share my bowl
- 16:26Speaker 4: of noodles with you.
- 16:26Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying?
- 16:27Speaker 3: Come on, man. You know?
- 16:29Speaker 4: It just doesn't make sense to me, you know? And
- 16:31Speaker 4: if I'm lying, man, come on, man. Let's sit down
- 16:33Speaker 4: and watch film together.
- 16:33Speaker 3: That's all I want to do.
- 16:34Speaker 4: If I'm lying, sit down and watch film. Because I
- 16:37Speaker 4: see others running to the ball. I see Wright, Darnell Wright,
- 16:43Speaker 4: picking his runner back up.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I see that.
- 16:48Speaker 4: I saw none of that from the birds. And that
- 16:49Speaker 4: comes from not... They're not finishing plays, man. They don't
- 16:53Speaker 4: have the enthusiasm, the drive right now to... To say
- 16:59Speaker 4: anything but, all right, we're an average team with above
- 17:03Speaker 4: average talent. That's a travesty because we got great talent,
- 17:09Speaker 4: but the talent means nothing. You know, hard work beats
- 17:13Speaker 4: talent every single day. And right now I'm seeing guys
- 17:17Speaker 4: that are working harder than they are that are beating
- 17:20Speaker 4: them because they're not working as hard as they should
- 17:23Speaker 4: be working.
- 17:25Speaker 3: And, you know, they can say what they want to say.
- 17:27Speaker 3: They can cuss me out. They can do whatever they
- 17:29Speaker 3: want to say. Oh, he don't know what the hell
- 17:30Speaker 3: he talking about.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Yes, I do.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Let's watch the eye in the sky. The eye in
- 17:35Speaker 4: the sky don't lie. They don't finish plays, man. They
- 17:39Speaker 4: just don't, man.
- 17:40Speaker 3: And that's shocking to me. That's shocking, man, because I
- 17:43Speaker 3: know the type of player Lane Johnson is.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Jordan Malata. You know, I know the type of players
- 17:47Speaker 4: they are. But I haven't seen the consistency of running
- 17:51Speaker 4: and finishing plays. Just finishing plays? will take their game
- 17:57Speaker 4: from here to here easily, from right here to right
- 18:00Speaker 4: here easily. Because when you're finishing plays, that means you're
- 18:03Speaker 4: finishing blocks. When you're finishing blocks, that means that's one
- 18:05Speaker 4: less person hitting your running back.
- 18:09Speaker 2: So come on, man.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Man, it's irritating, bro. It's irritating, man, because I got
- 18:13Speaker 4: so much faith. And when I speak on the Eagles winning,
- 18:18Speaker 4: I'm saying it from my heart.
- 18:19Speaker 3: I had them winning 31-24. because that's what.
- 18:25Speaker 4: They should be winning by. There's no way we should
- 18:29Speaker 4: have gotten beat for a Case Keenum-led team because Johnson
- 18:35Speaker 4: out-coached my boy Vic Fangio, man. Vic is a great guy, man,
- 18:39Speaker 4: but he got out-coached, man, because they did everything, man.
- 18:42Speaker 4: They were running wham plays. Wham plays is when you
- 18:44Speaker 4: have a tight end going to block a defensive end
- 18:47Speaker 4: or going to block.
- 18:50Speaker 3: A defensive tackle.
- 18:53Speaker 4: He's going in to hit him, and he's creating separation,
- 18:56Speaker 4: and the runner back's cutting right off of him. Swift
- 18:58Speaker 4: ran like he was, you know, Walter Payton out there.
- 19:01Speaker 4: He looked like Smooters out there. You know what I'm saying?
- 19:04Speaker 3: You know, he's.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Slowing down speed. Man, that's one kid I saw, man.
- 19:10Speaker 4: He wanted to beat us so bad. He wanted to
- 19:13Speaker 4: beat us badder than anybody on that field, and he
- 19:15Speaker 4: showed it, bro.
- 19:16Speaker 2: He showed it.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Since you brought up the offensive line, let's go inside
- 19:20Speaker 1: the line. And the first half, Saquon, he was busting
- 19:24Speaker 1: the Bears' defense up, man. He had 73 yards rushing.
- 19:28Speaker 1: They were having a lot of success running to the
- 19:30Speaker 1: left side. Now, from my perspective, I thought Cam Juergens
- 19:35Speaker 1: played a better game in the first half. I thought
- 19:37Speaker 1: Kendall played a better game in the first half. We'll
- 19:40Speaker 1: get to the second half in a minute. But what
- 19:42Speaker 1: did you see from them and the offensive line in
- 19:46Speaker 1: general that they were able to move the pile with
- 19:50Speaker 1: authority in their first half?
- 19:52Speaker 3: Blitz. Blitz.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Blitzes aren't just for pass plays. They're run blitzes also.
- 19:59Speaker 4: And a lot of them were run blitzes, man. They're
- 20:02Speaker 4: not going to sit there and let you.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Get up on their.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Linebackers like they were. They had free access to the linebacks.
- 20:09Speaker 4: They would hit and get up to the linebackers in
- 20:11Speaker 4: the first half. And then this, when you saw Juergens,
- 20:15Speaker 4: you saw Drew, you saw Steen, get up on the linebacks.
- 20:19Speaker 4: Once you got to the second level, that means, you know,
- 20:21Speaker 4: you're running back. You got Saquon against the safety. I'll
- 20:24Speaker 4: take that all day.
- 20:25Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 20:26Speaker 4: He gets to the third level before he gets in touch.
- 20:28Speaker 4: Second level before he gets in touch. I'll take that
- 20:29Speaker 4: all day, man. But they made adjustments.
- 20:33Speaker 3: What's his name? Dennis Heath. He said, you know what?
- 20:37Speaker 4: You're not going to do this anymore. Dennis Allen was like,
- 20:40Speaker 4: you know what? You're not going to do this anymore.
- 20:42Speaker 4: I'm going to send blitzes. I'm going to get penetration.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Penetration kills run plays. Those ends got up starting to
- 20:48Speaker 4: set that. They started to set the edge. And once
- 20:51Speaker 4: they set the edge, they funneled everything back inside. And
- 20:54Speaker 4: before you knew it, the linebackers were running through and
- 20:56Speaker 4: they're making plays in the backfield.
- 21:00Speaker 3: That's what happened.
- 21:01Speaker 4: Just like, you know, in the second half, the same blitzes.
- 21:05Speaker 4: You had our boy, he was a linebacker to play here.
- 21:07Speaker 4: He's from Chicago. He left here and went there.
- 21:09Speaker 2: We drafted him.
- 21:09Speaker 3: T.J.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Edwards?
- 21:11Speaker 3: T.J.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Edwards.
- 21:12Speaker 2: T.J.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Edwards came up and he mugged the guard.
- 21:15Speaker 4: First time he came up on a blitz, he mugged
- 21:18Speaker 4: the guard, meaning he came up in the guard's face
- 21:21Speaker 4: and held him there, and then he brought two from
- 21:23Speaker 4: the outside.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Jordan Malata knows he's got to stay MDM.
- 21:28Speaker 4: If that linebacker comes up and he initiates with that guard,
- 21:32Speaker 4: that means he can't go out to that little end.
- 21:34Speaker 3: You got to leave the wide man to the quarterback.
- 21:37Speaker 4: Don't let the defensive end hit the quarterback. Let that
- 21:40Speaker 4: little bitty guy on the outside, let him get him.
- 21:42Speaker 4: So you got to stop him.
- 21:43Speaker 3: You got to MD in him. And yes, you got
- 21:46Speaker 3: two guys. But you, man, you six foot eight, bro.
- 21:48Speaker 3: You can hold off two guys by yourself. You know
- 21:50Speaker 3: what I'm saying?
- 21:51Speaker 4: But he should have stayed in with that little guy.
- 21:54Speaker 4: And all of a sudden, Jalen throws and he almost
- 21:55Speaker 4: gets the pick. They run into the second half, do
- 22:00Speaker 4: the same thing, but they run. TJ Evans comes to
- 22:02Speaker 4: the line of scrimmage like he's going to blitz. But
- 22:04Speaker 4: this time, he just won straight out. And he goes out,
- 22:07Speaker 4: and he runs the same pattern as the receiver, and
- 22:10Speaker 4: he turns around Smitty, and he's right there to make
- 22:13Speaker 4: a play.
- 22:13Speaker 3: And Jalen said, he chalked up, yeah, that's me.
- 22:15Speaker 2: That's me.
- 22:16Speaker 3: I made a mistake.
- 22:17Speaker 4: I should have hit the rookie on that play. Yeah,
- 22:19Speaker 4: he should have thrown it to the outside guy. But,
- 22:22Speaker 4: I mean, that's just a product of us not going
- 22:28Speaker 4: in and making in-game adjustments and then second half adjustments.
- 22:32Speaker 3: We've been beating the second half all three games.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Third quarter has been this team's Achilles heel the entire
- 22:38Speaker 1: three games this season. You look at the first half,
- 22:42Speaker 1: the Eagles offense had 186 yards of offense. The entire
- 22:47Speaker 1: second half, they had a grand total of 62 yards
- 22:51Speaker 1: of offense. The third quarter alone, their first three possessions,
- 22:57Speaker 1: Three and out. The fourth possession, pick. And I don't
- 23:02Speaker 1: know for the life of me how they sat there
- 23:04Speaker 1: for 12 minutes at halftime and talked about what they
- 23:07Speaker 1: needed to do because it was still very much a game.
- 23:10Speaker 1: It was only 10-7 coming out of the locker room, okay?
- 23:13Speaker 1: What did you talk about at halftime? Because the Bears
- 23:16Speaker 1: made adjustments, and in this game, Barrett, as you know,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I don't have to tell you this, you played this game.
- 23:20Speaker 2: A long time.
- 23:21Speaker 1: It's point-counterpoint. You make an adjustment, we make an adjustment.
- 23:25Speaker 1: You make another adjustment, we make another adjustment. Chicago's making adjustments.
- 23:30Speaker 1: The Eagles did not and got their behinds whacked over
- 23:34Speaker 1: the last 30 minutes.
- 23:36Speaker 4: Well, D-Gun, we can take this same thing, this same podcast,
- 23:43Speaker 4: and we can run it for all three games.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Yes. All three games.
- 23:50Speaker 4: We come out in the second half and we take
- 23:53Speaker 4: a dump on ourselves. We don't do anything to combat
- 23:56Speaker 4: what they do. They go in and they have in-game adjustments.
- 24:00Speaker 3: We don't.
- 24:02Speaker 4: We come out in the second half, it's just we're
- 24:04Speaker 4: better than the first two teams. And they just play
- 24:10Speaker 4: better than we do. We just come out of the
- 24:12Speaker 4: game by the skin of our teeth. How are we
- 24:14Speaker 4: having a game-saving drive by Jalen Hurts against a team
- 24:18Speaker 4: that sucks?
- 24:20Speaker 3: The Titans are horrible. Horrible.
- 24:23Speaker 4: So, I mean, I knew this division was going to
- 24:24Speaker 4: catch up with us. I didn't think it was going
- 24:26Speaker 4: to be this soon. But maybe we need this ass-whooping.
- 24:28Speaker 4: Maybe we need this. You know what I'm saying? Maybe
- 24:30Speaker 4: we get ourselves straight. Maybe they listen to this and say, hey,
- 24:34Speaker 4: he don't know what he's talking about.
- 24:36Speaker 3: We hustle. We hustle.
- 24:38Speaker 4: And then they look at the film like, oh, maybe
- 24:41Speaker 4: Big Brooks knows what he's talking about. Because I do
- 24:43Speaker 4: see guys running to the ball, and we watch them
- 24:46Speaker 4: run to the ball. I know that doesn't mean anything
- 24:52Speaker 4: to a lot of people.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I know a lot of people are like, what is
- 24:55Speaker 3: he talking about? But running to the ball, when you're there,
- 24:59Speaker 3: what if a fumble happens? What if a fumble?
- 25:03Speaker 4: You're running to the ball, you can go get the fumble.
- 25:07Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? You can stop a play
- 25:12Speaker 4: from happening. You can go defend your quarterback, most of all.
- 25:18Speaker 4: I don't care what angle it was, man. They should
- 25:21Speaker 4: have been there before that static even started.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 25:25Speaker 4: They shouldn't have been running over there afterwards. They should
- 25:28Speaker 4: have been there before the static even started. They should
- 25:31Speaker 4: have been following him, running out of bounds. They should
- 25:34Speaker 4: have been right there to pick him up. That's your quarterback, man.
- 25:39Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:40Speaker 3: Come on, man.
- 25:41Speaker 4: I mean, if I didn't like a quarterback, if he's
- 25:43Speaker 4: my quarterback at the time, I'm still going to go
- 25:46Speaker 4: out there and make sure that he okay.
- 25:48Speaker 3: I didn't see that, man. I didn't see it.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Yeah, if you're wearing the same jersey, that's your brother,
- 25:53Speaker 1: whether you like him or not. And in the heat
- 25:55Speaker 1: of battle, you stand up for your people. And speaking
- 25:58Speaker 1: of that plague, that Jalen got wrecked on the sideline. Now,
- 26:03Speaker 1: his head snapped back. He didn't hit his head on
- 26:05Speaker 1: the turf. When he rolled over, he took his time
- 26:08Speaker 1: getting up. And all of a sudden, the official said,
- 26:11Speaker 1: we need to check him for a concussion. Lo and behold,
- 26:15Speaker 1: Andy Dalton comes in, the red rifle. And I don't
- 26:20Speaker 1: know what he was looking at at the end zone
- 26:22Speaker 1: because there was no white jersey near where he threw
- 26:25Speaker 1: the ball. But first of all, your thoughts on them
- 26:27Speaker 1: pulling Jalen for concussion protocol. Because some people believe the
- 26:34Speaker 1: league is always out to get the Eagles.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Always out to get the Eagles.
- 26:40Speaker 1: And that was an instance where they were trying to
- 26:43Speaker 1: stop the Eagles drive and get the red rifle in
- 26:46Speaker 1: there to play right into the Bears' hands.
- 26:48Speaker 2: First of all, isn't that a little far-fetched? It is, man.
- 26:51Speaker 4: And you heard Jay. I mean, you saw Jay was like,
- 26:54Speaker 4: helmet it. Helmet it.
- 26:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 26:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 3: He wanted his helmet. He wanted to get back out there.
- 27:00Speaker 4: And then when he did leave the tent and sat
- 27:01Speaker 4: out there, they were still looking for it, you know,
- 27:04Speaker 4: trying to see what was going on, if he's really,
- 27:06Speaker 4: you know, all this stuff, you know. And then he
- 27:08Speaker 4: didn't get his helmet until later on. So I thought
- 27:11Speaker 4: that was a travesty. I thought you shouldn't have done that.
- 27:13Speaker 2: But, hey, it happens. I get it.
- 27:17Speaker 3: But you got to.
- 27:18Speaker 4: veteran quarterback who's played just as long as Keenan.
- 27:27Speaker 3: And he comes in and at no point did I
- 27:30Speaker 3: see this guy open. What the hell was you looking at?
- 27:34Speaker 3: What was you looking at, man?
- 27:37Speaker 4: And then what everybody that I heard was accountable for
- 27:41Speaker 4: their actions, except for him. He gonna say something along
- 27:45Speaker 4: the lines of, well, I wish.
- 27:46Speaker 1: We'd have scored on the two plays you gave to Saquon.
- 27:53Speaker 2: What?
- 27:54Speaker 3: What? Come on, man. You don't say that, man. You
- 28:01Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? Come on, man. I wish we'd
- 28:02Speaker 3: have scored. I wish we'd have scored also.
- 28:05Speaker 4: I wish instead of, you know what I'm saying, you know,
- 28:08Speaker 4: Saquon Barkley, you know, kind of putting the ball out there. Man,
- 28:11Speaker 4: run that guy over, man. And I understand why he didn't.
- 28:14Speaker 4: You know, he got the neck roll on, you know,
- 28:15Speaker 4: his shoulder and everything. You don't want to mess it up.
- 28:18Speaker 4: But shoot, you know, last year, two years ago, Saquon
- 28:21Speaker 4: would have, I'm going in. You can't stop me. You
- 28:26Speaker 4: know what I'm saying? You're a rookie safety?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Oh, come on, man.
- 28:29Speaker 3: I done ran him over, man.
- 28:31Speaker 4: But, you know, it's the nature of the game, man.
- 28:33Speaker 4: I understand he was trying to protect himself because he's,
- 28:35Speaker 4: you know, he's been hurt, man. He's taking some shots, man.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Because why?
- 28:38Speaker 4: Because He's taking shots because guys aren't helping him. They're
- 28:43Speaker 4: not finishing plays. You can take a lot of heat.
- 28:45Speaker 3: Off of them. You know, so it is what it is, man.
- 28:49Speaker 3: It is what it is.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I sit here perplexed.
- 28:51Speaker 1: You brought up two names and I'd mentioned them on
- 28:54Speaker 1: our Sunday night post game show.
- 28:55Speaker 2: I do with Seth Joyner and Mark for Zeta.
- 28:59Speaker 1: And I said, Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter got paid
- 29:04Speaker 1: this off season. They got paid. Now, Jordan Davis is
- 29:08Speaker 1: not known as a pass rusher. He's a run stuffer, okay?
- 29:12Speaker 1: But Jalen Carter is supposed to be your elite, all right,
- 29:16Speaker 1: pass rusher. Sometimes that dude's like he's in the witness
- 29:20Speaker 1: protection program, man. You don't hear from him.
- 29:22Speaker 2: And I don't understand.
- 29:24Speaker 1: I don't understand with the money that they've invested in
- 29:27Speaker 1: the front seven. How they can't control the line of
- 29:31Speaker 1: scrimmage better than what we've seen a three-week sample of.
- 29:34Speaker 1: I just don't get it. And it's like nobody's afraid
- 29:38Speaker 1: to run against them anymore, man. I don't understand it. Well,
- 29:42Speaker 1: next time you talk to my partner, Seth.
- 29:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 4: All you gotta do is tell Seth, Seth, they're double
- 29:50Speaker 4: teaming and getting up on the backer.
- 29:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:52Speaker 3: He gonna lose his mind.
- 29:53Speaker 4: Yes.
- 29:54Speaker 2: He already has twice.
- 29:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 4: He gonna say, he say, first of all, on the
- 29:58Speaker 4: double team, you got to be so stout that the
- 30:01Speaker 4: double team, they can't get off to get up to
- 30:03Speaker 4: the second level because you're eating up the double team.
- 30:06Speaker 3: So neither one of those guys, either Carter or Davis,
- 30:08Speaker 3: are eating up the double team.
- 30:10Speaker 4: They're allowing guys to block them one-on-one, which allows the
- 30:14Speaker 4: other guys that are supposed to be double team to
- 30:16Speaker 4: get up on our backers. And right now our backers
- 30:19Speaker 4: aren't playing... consistently enough in their job to do the
- 30:23Speaker 4: things they need to do. They're running under blocks. They're
- 30:25Speaker 4: running over blocks instead of just taking on. And that's
- 30:28Speaker 4: your gap? Take on the guy, take your gap, and
- 30:31Speaker 4: then play through it. Too many times I'm seeing, you know,
- 30:35Speaker 4: guys run up under blocks. And that's, you know, and
- 30:38Speaker 4: Vaughn doesn't do it a lot. Vaughn doesn't do it
- 30:40Speaker 4: a lot. But everybody else is.
- 30:44Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? I'm going to say, you know, because,
- 30:46Speaker 3: I mean, Campbell needs to, Stop running under blocks.
- 30:49Speaker 4: If you got outside me, if you got a gap
- 30:51Speaker 4: ahead of him, you got to get over that block.
- 30:53Speaker 3: You got to fight through that block. You got to
- 30:55Speaker 3: get over there to make a play. Turn that stuff
- 30:57Speaker 3: back inside. You know what I'm saying? Safeties.
- 31:03Speaker 4: That's another conversation, man. I don't know what we're talking about.
- 31:06Speaker 4: We're talking about Dylan Carter and you know what I'm saying?
- 31:11Speaker 1: Ojo.
- 31:11Speaker 2: We're talking those.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Guys right now. Penetration kills running plays. We're not getting
- 31:14Speaker 3: any penetration. And we're not eating up double teams, you
- 31:17Speaker 3: got to do one of the two.
- 31:19Speaker 4: I can understand if they get up on the back
- 31:20Speaker 4: because you're getting penetration, getting in the field and disrupting
- 31:23Speaker 4: the running game.
- 31:25Speaker 3: You get up the field, you do that.
- 31:27Speaker 4: All you got to do is make that running back
- 31:30Speaker 4: stutter a little bit, you know, make him change direction,
- 31:33Speaker 4: make him, you know what I'm saying, stop and start.
- 31:35Speaker 4: If you can make him stop and start, you've done
- 31:37Speaker 4: your job because now the rest of the troops can come.
- 31:40Speaker 4: But these guys ain't getting up the field and stopping
- 31:42Speaker 4: that penetration or they're not eating.
- 31:43Speaker 3: Up two blocks so the backers can run free. They're
- 31:47Speaker 3: not doing that. And we're getting on these backers.
- 31:50Speaker 4: About them not being able to, you know, they're running
- 31:53Speaker 4: under blocks, they're running over blocks.
- 31:55Speaker 3: We're getting on them about that.
- 31:57Speaker 4: But they shouldn't have guys on them because you got
- 31:59Speaker 4: two studs who I thought were studs, well, three studs,
- 32:03Speaker 4: Mauro Jomo, Davis, and Carter. They should be getting more
- 32:08Speaker 4: penetration up the field. You know what I'm saying? I
- 32:11Speaker 4: thought this was going to be a gig back game.
- 32:13Speaker 4: I thought Darnell Wright was going to get his lunch
- 32:15Speaker 4: handed to him because Carter was pissed off at what
- 32:18Speaker 4: happened the year before.
- 32:20Speaker 3: But they all made it known, hey, this is not
- 32:22Speaker 3: the same team from last year. This is a new team.
- 32:25Speaker 3: I held grudges, dog. I still got a grudge right now.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I still do.
- 32:29Speaker 4: Right now, I'm still looking for guys that, you know
- 32:31Speaker 4: what I'm saying, I promise you. Aranda Barber, no. He
- 32:36Speaker 4: crap black bopped me, man. I just recently found out
- 32:38Speaker 4: it wasn't him.
- 32:39Speaker 2: He's still talking about Rondé Barber.
- 32:42Speaker 4: I'm still looking for Rondé Barber, man. And I know
- 32:44Speaker 4: he didn't do it, but he was the one that
- 32:46Speaker 4: was laughing, man.
- 32:46Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying?
- 32:48Speaker 4: Rondé Barber hit me, man, and I'm still pissed off
- 32:50Speaker 4: because I thought it was him because all.
- 32:51Speaker 3: I heard was... And I'm out, man. You know what
- 32:54Speaker 3: I'm saying?
- 32:55Speaker 4: I'm on one knee. I'm looking up. I can't see, man.
- 32:57Speaker 4: I see like five people. There's only two people there.
- 32:59Speaker 4: I see five. You know what I'm saying? You're a
- 33:02Speaker 4: God-fearing man. You're a God-fearing man. What happened to, you know...
- 33:06Speaker 4: Live and let live.
- 33:07Speaker 2: Forgive and forget. What happened to that?
- 33:10Speaker 3: I do forgive. I just didn't forget. I'm sorry.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I mean, I got one half of that. I didn't
- 33:14Speaker 4: forget about it. You know what I'm saying?
- 33:16Speaker 3: I didn't, man.
- 33:18Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 33:18Speaker 4: And it wasn't until two years ago that one of
- 33:21Speaker 4: the producers saw the play. Mike Mulhern saw the play.
- 33:25Speaker 4: He said, man, it wasn't him. It was Warren Sapp
- 33:31Speaker 4: that hit you.
- 33:32Speaker 3: Oh.
- 33:32Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, man.
- 33:34Speaker 4: That kind of makes more sense because it's a little
- 33:36Speaker 4: more thump. Like, a Rondé Barber ain't got enough ass
- 33:38Speaker 4: to be hitting me like.
- 33:39Speaker 3: That, bro. He just don't. You know what I'm saying? But,
- 33:42Speaker 3: you know, all I heard was him get looked up.
- 33:44Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? And that's what happened, man. But,
- 33:47Speaker 3: you know, my boy Sap got me. He got me.
- 33:49Speaker 3: But I'm still looking for a Rondé for laughing, bro.
- 33:52Speaker 1: And your coach, Nick Sirianni, explain this to me. He
- 33:56Speaker 1: goes for it on fourth and five. but doesn't go
- 33:59Speaker 1: for a fourth and one and a half yard. Now
- 34:03Speaker 1: he's been known during his tenure as the Philadelphia Eagles
- 34:07Speaker 1: head coach.
- 34:07Speaker 2: Of being a gambler.
- 34:09Speaker 1: And nine times out of 10, especially if it's one
- 34:12Speaker 1: yard with a tush puss and I'll push and all
- 34:14Speaker 1: that stuff. He's going to get that first step. And
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm thinking you're trying to get the momentum back in
- 34:20Speaker 1: your favor and you conceded defeat on a fourth and
- 34:24Speaker 1: one and a half and give them the ball back.
- 34:26Speaker 1: And I'm like, and then after the, after the game,
- 34:28Speaker 1: he goes, Well, you know, in hindsight, I should have
- 34:31Speaker 1: gone for it.
- 34:32Speaker 2: You think? You think you should have gone for it?
- 34:35Speaker 2: I mean, you're losing. You're losing. Did you not look
- 34:37Speaker 2: at the scoreboard? You're losing.
- 34:40Speaker 1: And you gave them a momentum right back to the Bears?
- 34:43Speaker 1: You know, who's calling this offense? I thought this was
- 34:46Speaker 1: a Sean Mannion offense. But as I see the weeks evolve,
- 34:52Speaker 1: I'm seeing too much interjection of the Nick Sirianni. Offense again. Man, Nick,
- 35:01Speaker 1: wipe your hands in offense and let the new dude
- 35:03Speaker 1: call the offense, man. Let's see what he can do
- 35:05Speaker 1: with this offense because I think you're confusing people when
- 35:09Speaker 1: you got two people calling plays back and forth.
- 35:14Speaker 3: You know what?
- 35:14Speaker 4: I'm going to let you say that, man, because I
- 35:16Speaker 4: don't know how we can talk about what's going on, man, because,
- 35:23Speaker 4: I mean, if they throw that damn screen to.
- 35:27Speaker 3: Limit one more time. They throw it one more time.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Come on, man. Everybody sees it. Everybody knows it.
- 35:32Speaker 4: And then hold on. Then to have Zach Ertz out
- 35:35Speaker 4: there trying to block somebody. We know Zach Ertz ain't
- 35:37Speaker 4: no blocker. Zach can't block me or you. He couldn't
- 35:40Speaker 4: block me or you.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a receiver. He'll let you know. He's going
- 35:44Speaker 3: to catch everything you throw to him. Throw it to him.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Let him be great. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:49Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Let him be great. Let
- 35:51Speaker 4: him do what he do. You know what he's going
- 35:53Speaker 4: to do. He's the guy that's going to go out
- 35:54Speaker 4: and catch pass. He's that good. He's the quarterback's best friend.
- 35:58Speaker 4: He makes himself available. He knows how to run routes.
- 36:00Speaker 4: He's going to, you know, man, he's going to run
- 36:02Speaker 4: past most linebackers. And then, you know, the zone, he
- 36:04Speaker 4: goes sit down in the zone. If a safety comes up,
- 36:06Speaker 4: he's bigger than most safety. So, you know, he's going
- 36:08Speaker 4: to make it happen. He knows all that stuff. He's,
- 36:11Speaker 4: you know, he's, he's, he's well suited to be a
- 36:13Speaker 4: pass catching tight end, but don't, don't do that.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Don't do that, man. And
- 36:18Speaker 3: I'm tired. I'm doing, you know, and, and, I know
- 36:20Speaker 3: the rookie's like, man, come on, man. Let me be
- 36:22Speaker 3: great too. You know what I'm saying? Push the ball
- 36:24Speaker 3: down the field. I don't want to run this either.
- 36:26Speaker 2: He look at us like this.
- 36:27Speaker 3: Y'all getting mad at me. I ain't calling it. You
- 36:30Speaker 3: know what I'm saying? He's like, yo, come on, man.
- 36:33Speaker 3: But yeah, man. I could pick a lot of stuff
- 36:36Speaker 3: about this game.
- 36:38Speaker 4: But it's stuff that I was saying the past two
- 36:41Speaker 4: weeks that leaked into this third week.
- 36:44Speaker 2: And we lost.
- 36:45Speaker 3: We just weren't good enough. Yeah.
- 36:47Speaker 4: We had a team that was, you know, just as
- 36:49Speaker 4: talented as we were, and that's why we ended up
- 36:52Speaker 4: losing this game because they eventually caught up with us.
- 36:55Speaker 4: We got the talent. I think we still got the coaching.
- 36:59Speaker 4: Now I think this is, like, going to open their
- 37:02Speaker 4: eyes up. Like, look, you can't just rely on how
- 37:05Speaker 4: talented you are to, you know, dictate how you guys
- 37:09Speaker 4: are going to play.
- 37:10Speaker 3: You got to go out there and play any given Sunday.
- 37:12Speaker 4: And we got trounced by a third string, 35. 8, 30, 12,
- 37:19Speaker 4: 350-year-old quarterback that was just slinging it, man. He looked
- 37:23Speaker 4: like Tom Brady out there. Here's one for you. Here's
- 37:27Speaker 4: one for you. You take this one right here. Oh,
- 37:29Speaker 4: give me this right here.
- 37:30Speaker 3: He was just... He was just... I mean, I... He balled.
- 37:36Speaker 2: That's all. He balled.
- 37:38Speaker 1: So this team, after getting their behinds beat, you have
- 37:42Speaker 1: a short week. And you have to get ready for
- 37:45Speaker 1: a pissed-off L.A. Rams team coming here because the Rams
- 37:49Speaker 1: blew a game they should have won in Denver on
- 37:51Speaker 1: Sunday night. Now, look at the progression here. You start
- 37:55Speaker 1: out the season playing two of the weak sisters of
- 37:57Speaker 1: the NFL in Washington and Tennessee. And, oh, by the way, Washington,
- 38:03Speaker 1: with a backup quarterback, found a way to knock off
- 38:06Speaker 1: the defending champs. Okay?
- 38:08Speaker 3: Okay.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You have a short week to get ready for a
- 38:11Speaker 1: ticked-off Rams team that's coming in here. So your level
- 38:15Speaker 1: of competition continues to increase. You went from Washington and
- 38:19Speaker 1: Tennessee to the Bears, who slapped you in the face
- 38:22Speaker 1: on Monday Night Football. Now you're bringing in the number
- 38:25Speaker 1: one offense in the National Football League with Devontae Adams,
- 38:29Speaker 1: Kyron Williams, future Hall of Famer Matthew Stafford, the tight
- 38:34Speaker 1: end Higby.
- 38:36Speaker 3: Oh, by the way, they're saying Puka Nakua.
- 38:41Speaker 2: I believe, you know what?
- 38:42Speaker 1: I believe they deliberately held Puka out of that Denver
- 38:45Speaker 1: game for this game because the Eagles have owned the
- 38:49Speaker 1: Rams in recent years. Let's face it. And the Eagles
- 38:51Speaker 1: have been lucky against the Rams. A defensive stop here,
- 38:54Speaker 1: a block field goal there. The Eagles have been lucky
- 38:57Speaker 1: in some ways in terms of beating the Rams. But
- 38:58Speaker 1: the bottom line is when you look at the final score,
- 39:01Speaker 1: the Eagles have owned the Rams. You don't think they're
- 39:03Speaker 1: thinking about that getting ready for this game on Sunday?
- 39:07Speaker 2: You don't think about that?
- 39:08Speaker 3: Exactly. Exactly. What? And you know what, though?
- 39:11Speaker 4: Statistics say that the Eagles are going to win. It's
- 39:14Speaker 4: like statistics said this last week that the Bears are
- 39:18Speaker 4: going to win. You know what I'm saying? Like, Monday nights,
- 39:20Speaker 4: we just played terrible on Monday nights. I think we
- 39:23Speaker 4: were like 8-8 or something like that on Monday nights,
- 39:25Speaker 4: you know? for when they– something like that. I mean,
- 39:27Speaker 4: you know, they got them next-level stats and all that stuff.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 39:32Speaker 4: But we play well against the Rams, you know, and
- 39:36Speaker 4: hopefully they got a sour taste in their mouth and
- 39:40Speaker 4: they're ready to come out there and do something.
- 39:43Speaker 3: We hope so.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Well, if they show up, and play the Rams the
- 39:49Speaker 1: way they played the Bears, the score is going to
- 39:51Speaker 1: be a lot worse because Rams like to put the
- 39:54Speaker 1: ball in the end zone. And if Puka's back to
- 39:56Speaker 1: go along with Devontae, my goodness, it's going to be
- 40:00Speaker 1: a show from the West.
- 40:01Speaker 2: It's going to be a West Coast show. I'll tell
- 40:03Speaker 2: you that right now.
- 40:05Speaker 1: And we'll be sitting here next week fuming again as
- 40:08Speaker 1: we're doing right now.
- 40:09Speaker 3: You're absolutely right.
- 40:11Speaker 2: We still got some days before that game ends. take shape.
- 40:15Speaker 1: And I'm hoping Vic Fangio, Nick Sirianni, Sean Mannion, you know,
- 40:18Speaker 1: browbeat these guys all week and get them refocused after
- 40:22Speaker 1: that trash they took on Monday night. All right, that's
- 40:24Speaker 1: going to wrap up this edition of Burrs Weekly presented
- 40:27Speaker 1: by the inside of the Burrs Network for that man
- 40:30Speaker 1: over there who I hope has finally calmed down. I
- 40:33Speaker 1: don't get to see the agitated, the animated Barrett Brooks
- 40:37Speaker 1: that often, but I enjoyed every bit of it on
- 40:39Speaker 1: this podcast. So until next week, we're keeping our fingers
- 40:43Speaker 1: crossed that it's a W and not a second consecutive
- 40:46Speaker 1: L for Barrett Brooks.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I'm Derek Gunn. So long, everybody.
