- 0:48SPEAKER_14: So uh we were just talking before we started um recording about um traffic um issues.
- 0:57SPEAKER_14: Uh I saw you yesterday.
- 1:00SPEAKER_14: Um I don't I tried to wave to you, but you were preoccupied with the driver in front of you, which was quite funny actually.
- 1:07SPEAKER_14: Because I don't know what I don't know what the driver did, but I was c I was coming to the stop and I'm trying to trying to wave to you, and you're just like there's nobody else in your car.
- 1:17SPEAKER_14: You're just yelling at the guy in front of you.
- 1:19SPEAKER_14: I don't know what it means.
- 1:20SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I do that.
- 1:21SPEAKER_14: Well, because they were what'd they do?
- 1:23SPEAKER_14: Oh, they stop for no reason.
- 1:25SPEAKER_14: You know, and I kind of gathered that from I don't know what you were saying, but you were something like Well, it's probably like stupid mother effort.
- 1:32SPEAKER_14: No, no, no.
- 1:33SPEAKER_14: I think I saw you mouth the words make up your mind or something like that.
- 1:36SPEAKER_14: Oh, maybe it was something like that.
- 1:38SPEAKER_14: Probably.
- 1:38SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 1:39SPEAKER_09: But but there's been a rash of that going on with me lately because I drive, I'm driving and people just stop for no reason, and then they keep going.
- 1:49SPEAKER_09: It's like you didn't put on a blinker or anything.
- 1:51SPEAKER_14: Have you noticed that that has is happening more and more?
- 1:54SPEAKER_14: People don't use blinkers.
- 1:55SPEAKER_14: Oh, I'd notice that.
- 1:56SPEAKER_14: I mean, I don't know if it's because we're old now, but I've noticed it a lot more.
- 2:01SPEAKER_14: People just aren't putting blinkers on.
- 2:03SPEAKER_14: Put on blinkers, or when they do, it's like right before the turn.
- 2:06SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's like that set as they're turning, that blinker goes on.
- 2:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 2:10SPEAKER_09: Oh, thank you.
- 2:11SPEAKER_14: Yeah, exactly.
- 2:12SPEAKER_09: Much appreciated.
- 2:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 2:13SPEAKER_09: Jerk.
- 2:14SPEAKER_09: I hate everybody.
- 2:17SPEAKER_09: I'm really, I'm really a very I'm an offensive, defensive driver.
- 2:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 2:24SPEAKER_09: Well, I'm more offensive.
- 2:26SPEAKER_14: Wait, offensive or offensive?
- 2:30SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 2:31SPEAKER_09: Like, well, because I'm always yelling at other people.
- 2:35SPEAKER_09: And then when, you know, because, you know, when they do something stupid, I'm like, ah.
- 2:41SPEAKER_09: But then when I do something stupid, I do it to myself.
- 2:43SPEAKER_06: I'm like, you're so stupid.
- 2:45SPEAKER_06: James Crowd Doug.
- 2:47SPEAKER_06: Why did they give you a license?
- 2:49SPEAKER_09: You know, I'm very, I'm very hard on myself when I drive.
- 2:51SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_09: Well, it's a good thing nobody ever rides with me because, you know, number one, they'd probably be scared.
- 2:57SPEAKER_09: Number two, they would just be like, wow, he's got anger issues.
- 3:03SPEAKER_14: Well, I was still even as you drove by, still kind of mouthing off, I'm trying.
- 3:10SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I I was probably still just like waiting for them to do something else stupid so I didn't crash into him.
- 3:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 3:16SPEAKER_09: Oh man, I just I just hate other people.
- 3:18SPEAKER_14: So where were you going?
- 3:19SPEAKER_14: Because you said I have no idea.
- 3:21SPEAKER_14: So this Why was I by the high school?
- 3:22SPEAKER_14: This I don't know.
- 3:23SPEAKER_14: This was this would have been about one o'clock or a little after one o'clock.
- 3:28SPEAKER_14: Uh on a today's so on a Monday.
- 3:31SPEAKER_14: One o'clock on a Monday.
- 3:33SPEAKER_14: And you were driving, you were going to- Oh well, yeah.
- 3:36SPEAKER_09: I was going like towards like towards the end of like Were you headed to Easton?
- 3:41SPEAKER_09: No, no.
- 3:42SPEAKER_09: I was all done in Easton.
- 3:43SPEAKER_09: Where was I going?
- 3:44SPEAKER_09: I was going home.
- 3:45SPEAKER_09: I always drive the back way home.
- 3:47SPEAKER_09: I don't drive through Main Street anymore because I tend to yell at other drivers.
- 3:53SPEAKER_09: So I figured, you know, I'll be on the back streets.
- 3:56SPEAKER_09: I drive the back streets more than I drive Main Street.
- 3:59SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 4:00SPEAKER_15: Just because I hate everybody.
- 4:01SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_09: I I just I just don't like I mean, I like I don't like I don't like people driving.
- 4:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:07SPEAKER_09: I mean, I should be the only one allowed to drive.
- 4:10SPEAKER_14: Period.
- 4:11SPEAKER_09: Just ever.
- 4:12SPEAKER_09: You know, you know, if I'm on the drive, nobody else is allowed to drive.
- 4:15SPEAKER_09: That that should be the rule.
- 4:16SPEAKER_09: You know, I should I should get an ambulance and just turn the lights on so everybody has to pull off the you know, off to the, you know, off to the side whenever I go by it.
- 4:24SPEAKER_09: I'm just like, yeah, it's right, Mofo.
- 4:26SPEAKER_09: But uh yeah, I was probably good, you know, I drive I was probably driving home.
- 4:31SPEAKER_14: You're driving home at that that hour?
- 4:33SPEAKER_14: Was it lunchtime?
- 4:34SPEAKER_14: Or what was uh were you done done?
- 4:36SPEAKER_09: I was done because I get done early and I for some reason oh, they got the new clerk starting here, so I don't have to do the double shifts anymore for for for now.
- 4:48SPEAKER_14: Right?
- 4:49SPEAKER_09: That's good.
- 4:50SPEAKER_09: Um Yeah, well we'll see.
- 4:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:53SPEAKER_14: So was it like a half day for you?
- 4:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 4:55SPEAKER_09: Oh, cool.
- 4:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was amazing because I'm really I'm really hating people.
- 5:01SPEAKER_09: Especially this time of year, brother.
- 5:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I I really just every time I talk to somebody, I'm just like, oh, I want to punch you in the face so much right now.
- 5:11SPEAKER_14: On that note, I just Oh no, I don't what is this?
- 5:16SPEAKER_14: That was March of the 12th.
- 5:18SPEAKER_14: There we go.
- 5:18SPEAKER_14: There we go.
- 5:19SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 5:20SPEAKER_14: Let's just put you in a better mood.
- 5:24SPEAKER_09: It's not, it's not, it's not that I hate Christmas.
- 5:26SPEAKER_09: I just hate other people at Christmas.
- 5:28SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 5:29SPEAKER_09: I hate I hate the attitude.
- 5:31SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 5:31SPEAKER_09: It's like it's it's so it's so it's supposed to be a fun time.
- 5:38SPEAKER_09: It's supposed to be, you know, you know, goodwill.
- 5:43SPEAKER_13: Yeah.
- 5:43SPEAKER_09: But no, not towards people in retail.
- 5:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 5:47SPEAKER_09: If you're in retail during Christmas time, you hate your life.
- 5:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 5:51SPEAKER_14: Well, imagine so people are under a lot of stress to provide presents, which is which shouldn't be what it's about, for one thing.
- 5:59SPEAKER_14: Well, it is.
- 6:00SPEAKER_14: I know.
- 6:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:01SPEAKER_14: Um, but imagine the people that are selling those presents.
- 6:04SPEAKER_09: Exactly.
- 6:04SPEAKER_09: That's the thing.
- 6:05SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 6:05SPEAKER_14: Or selling services.
- 6:07SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 6:07SPEAKER_09: It's like, well, yes, it costs this much because that's how much it costs.
- 6:15SPEAKER_09: I can't magically make it cost less.
- 6:17SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 6:18SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 6:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 6:21SPEAKER_14: I don't make the rules.
- 6:22SPEAKER_09: Do I do I look like I'm in charge of anything?
- 6:26SPEAKER_09: I'm a friggin' peon.
- 6:28SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 6:28SPEAKER_09: You know, in the grand scheme of things.
- 6:30SPEAKER_09: It that the price, that's the price.
- 6:32SPEAKER_09: You pay, you pay the price.
- 6:33SPEAKER_09: If you want that service, you pay that price and shut your freaking mouth.
- 6:37SPEAKER_09: I don't want to hear.
- 6:38SPEAKER_09: I don't dude you doing this.
- 6:41SPEAKER_09: I don't want it.
- 6:42SPEAKER_14: Just you came down on fire tonight.
- 6:46SPEAKER_09: I am, dude, I am like.
- 6:49SPEAKER_09: Every day for the last two weeks, I've left work and I'm just like, no.
- 6:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I can't even imagine working where you were.
- 6:56SPEAKER_05: I just want to punch people and kick babies and punt puppies.
- 7:03SPEAKER_14: Just I don't mean to laugh, but kick babies.
- 7:09SPEAKER_09: I just and then I go home and I'm like, ah, you can't be like that.
- 7:14SPEAKER_09: That's just that's not Christian of you.
- 7:16SPEAKER_09: This is true.
- 7:17SPEAKER_09: And then I go to work the next day and it starts, it starts off good, and then it starts again.
- 7:22SPEAKER_09: I have to deal with other people.
- 7:25SPEAKER_09: I find that's most important job.
- 7:27SPEAKER_09: And then it starts.
- 7:28SPEAKER_09: I can feel I could feel it start.
- 7:31SPEAKER_09: It's like it's like heartburn.
- 7:33SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 7:34SPEAKER_17: And you just it just burns, and then after a while you're just you need to retire.
- 7:40SPEAKER_09: Four years, baby.
- 7:41SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 7:42SPEAKER_14: You're gonna do anything else?
- 7:43SPEAKER_14: Or are you just gonna collect a pension and and hang out?
- 7:48SPEAKER_09: Well, I know I I don't know yet.
- 7:50SPEAKER_09: I I was talking this summer with the with the band.
- 7:54SPEAKER_09: During uh I was during I was during the Potato Blossom Festival.
- 7:57SPEAKER_09: We were playing that before we started.
- 7:59SPEAKER_09: I was talking to the the horn section.
- 8:01SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 8:02SPEAKER_09: And they were like, I was talking about retirement because I think Jerusalem asked me how much I like my job, and I said I hate it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_09: She kind of laughed and she goes, Really?
- 8:11SPEAKER_09: And I was like, Yeah, I can't wait to retire.
- 8:13SPEAKER_09: And she was like, Well, what are you gonna do after that?
- 8:15SPEAKER_09: And I was like, Well, I'm gonna I thought about uh substitute teaching.
- 8:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 8:19SPEAKER_09: And she was like, Oh, you would work every single day.
- 8:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah, you probably would.
- 8:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah, and I was like, Yeah, I probably probably would.
- 8:25SPEAKER_09: But it's different with that because then it would be like, if I don't want to go in, I don't have to.
- 8:31SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 8:32SPEAKER_14: You know what I mean?
- 8:33SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they could call you and say, we need you.
- 8:35SPEAKER_14: Sorry, I can't.
- 8:36SPEAKER_09: I can't, sorry, I gotta I gotta think.
- 8:39SPEAKER_09: I gotta feed my alligator.
- 8:40SPEAKER_09: It's just sorry, man.
- 8:42SPEAKER_09: So yeah, I'd I you know, I I'd like to have something that has that kind of freedom.
- 8:46SPEAKER_09: You know, if I want to work, I can work.
- 8:48SPEAKER_09: Sure.
- 8:48SPEAKER_09: If I don't want to, I don't go to work.
- 8:50SPEAKER_09: And subs make pretty good money.
- 8:51SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah, that's that's the thing, you know.
- 8:53SPEAKER_14: 75 to 100 bucks a day, something like that.
- 8:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's not bad.
- 8:55SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's not bad.
- 8:56SPEAKER_09: That's not bad at all.
- 8:56SPEAKER_09: I mean, you don't know really.
- 8:58SPEAKER_09: But uh yeah, I just I was thinking about doing that.
- 9:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah, no, that's true.
- 9:01SPEAKER_14: I can do that.
- 9:02SPEAKER_14: I mean I used to, you know, I didn't.
- 9:03SPEAKER_14: But you're talking about hating people.
- 9:04SPEAKER_09: Whew.
- 9:05SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 9:05SPEAKER_09: Uh well, kids are different because you you can you can punch them and they're they don't and uh Doug, you can't.
- 9:12SPEAKER_14: You can't.
- 9:13SPEAKER_14: I don't know if you knew that or not, but you can't.
- 9:14SPEAKER_09: Well, I can in my class.
- 9:16SPEAKER_14: Oh, well then it's a karate class.
- 9:19SPEAKER_14: Exactly.
- 9:22SPEAKER_09: Sometimes I feel bad for those little guys because uh sometimes I just like I come to class and I'm like and I take and I I want to take it out on them, then I'm like, nah, they're good, they're great kids.
- 9:33SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:34SPEAKER_09: They're they're they're sweet.
- 9:35SPEAKER_09: Uh and then I so then I have them do something really super aggressive, and then it kind of takes it out for them.
- 9:41SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:42SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 9:42SPEAKER_09: So I I did I started doing this thing with my class that uh we used to do in the Marines called Bear Pit.
- 9:49SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 9:50SPEAKER_09: Where you just get like everybody in this like circle, and then you gotta get like everybody out of the circle by any means necessary.
- 9:57SPEAKER_14: Isn't that kind of what you did uh uh uh for black belt testing?
- 10:01SPEAKER_14: Or no, is that different?
- 10:02SPEAKER_09: Kind of like that, yeah.
- 10:03SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah, okay.
- 10:04SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 10:04SPEAKER_09: But uh so I started doing my kids and they love it.
- 10:08SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 10:09SPEAKER_09: They are little animals.
- 10:11SPEAKER_09: I mean, there is no mercy shown.
- 10:13SPEAKER_09: I got three boys and a girl.
- 10:15SPEAKER_09: There is no mercy shown anywhere.
- 10:18SPEAKER_09: And I love it.
- 10:19SPEAKER_09: It's great.
- 10:20SPEAKER_09: They love it.
- 10:20SPEAKER_09: They have great sense.
- 10:22SPEAKER_09: Can we play parapet?
- 10:23SPEAKER_09: Not today.
- 10:24SPEAKER_14: I had this I had the similar but different uh thing today because it was the last week before Christmas.
- 10:30SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 10:30SPEAKER_14: And my second graders were like, uh, Mr.
- 10:32SPEAKER_14: Mosher, can we play um um shoot?
- 10:36SPEAKER_14: What was it called?
- 10:37SPEAKER_14: Uh uh.
- 10:41SPEAKER_14: Holy cow.
- 10:42SPEAKER_14: I'm telling you, my brain.
- 10:43SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 10:43SPEAKER_14: Um it's uh we just did it today.
- 10:47SPEAKER_14: Um, uh football.
- 10:53SPEAKER_09: No.
- 10:53SPEAKER_09: Sounds like tour.
- 10:57SPEAKER_09: Can we play well you're doing this?
- 11:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah, no, no, it's it's it's oh, it's uh it's throwing a pie.
- 11:06SPEAKER_14: Um throwing pie?
- 11:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, hold on.
- 11:08SPEAKER_14: I gotta I can't remember the name of it.
- 11:11SPEAKER_14: I am really seriously having a senior moment.
- 11:14SPEAKER_14: Seriously.
- 11:15SPEAKER_14: It's not uh it's not Oh man.
- 11:20SPEAKER_14: And it's probably because we're rec we're recording the podcast.
- 11:23SPEAKER_14: I can't think of it.
- 11:24SPEAKER_09: It's pressure.
- 11:25SPEAKER_14: Uh can we play Can we play It'll come to me.
- 11:30SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 11:30SPEAKER_14: Anyway, so it's it's this thing where we uh I get everybody in a circle and I'm in the middle of the circle.
- 11:36SPEAKER_14: And um I point to someone, and that someone has to duck down.
- 11:41SPEAKER_14: And if they don't duck down, they're out.
- 11:44SPEAKER_14: But if they do duck down, the people on either side of them have to throw have to throw an imaginary pie at each other.
- 11:52SPEAKER_14: And the first person to throw it stays in and the the other one doesn't.
- 11:59SPEAKER_14: They get out.
- 12:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_14: But it's one of those things that you have to be paying attention because they go very fast.
- 12:04SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 12:05SPEAKER_14: So it's like I'll point at someone and then they'll go down and they have to throw it at each other.
- 12:08SPEAKER_14: And then I say, You're out.
- 12:10SPEAKER_14: You're out, you're out, you're out.
- 12:13SPEAKER_14: And it's so fun to do because it's you it's fast-paced.
- 12:16SPEAKER_14: And then when you get down to two people, they go back to back.
- 12:19SPEAKER_14: And it's like almost like a gunfight.
- 12:21SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 12:21SPEAKER_14: So so I they take a step, and I'll say, um, I'm gonna say a color.
- 12:28SPEAKER_14: The minute I say something that's not a color, you turn around and throw your pie.
- 12:32SPEAKER_14: So I'll be like, blue, and I'll take a step.
- 12:35SPEAKER_14: Mmm, violet, they'll take a step.
- 12:38SPEAKER_14: Mmm, red, take a step, and I'll say, mmm, Ferrari.
- 12:44SPEAKER_14: And whoever, you know, gets that wins the whole round.
- 12:46SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 12:47SPEAKER_14: And then we play again because they just they just love it.
- 12:49SPEAKER_14: That's all like fun.
- 12:50SPEAKER_14: It is fun.
- 12:50SPEAKER_09: Uh it kind of reminds me of the ATLC game, uh, Where's North.
- 12:54SPEAKER_09: Did you ever play that?
- 12:55SPEAKER_09: No, no, no.
- 12:55SPEAKER_09: Oh, no, it's not cold.
- 12:57SPEAKER_09: It's eyes up, eyes down, that's what it is.
- 12:59SPEAKER_14: Oh no, I did play that.
- 13:00SPEAKER_14: I don't remember how, but I didn't know.
- 13:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah, everybody stands in a circle, you look down, and then somebody says uh eyes down, and everybody looks down, and then you say eyes up, and you have to look at somebody and they have to look at you.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: Or they or if you're looking at you're looking, you gotta look your hat and you gotta look at somebody.
- 13:15SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_09: And if they're looking back at you, you're both out.
- 13:18SPEAKER_09: So wow.
- 13:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:19SPEAKER_09: And then you go until, you know.
- 13:21SPEAKER_14: I might use that too.
- 13:22SPEAKER_14: It's fun.
- 13:23SPEAKER_14: It's actually fun.
- 13:23SPEAKER_14: Eyes up, eyes up.
- 13:24SPEAKER_09: But but the one you were talking about reminded me of another ATLC game we used to play called Animal Crackers.
- 13:29SPEAKER_09: Uh-huh.
- 13:29SPEAKER_09: Do you remember that one?
- 13:30SPEAKER_14: No.
- 13:31SPEAKER_09: Where somebody's in the middle and they have like a you know, like a plush, something soft anyway.
- 13:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:37SPEAKER_09: And everybody has to have everybody has to choose an animal and has to choose a sign.
- 13:42SPEAKER_09: Okay?
- 13:42SPEAKER_14: So like sign is in.
- 13:44SPEAKER_09: You have to make your sign.
- 13:45SPEAKER_09: So, like, say I choose moose and I have to do this.
- 13:48SPEAKER_09: Like, like I have to make like antlers.
- 13:50SPEAKER_14: Antlers, yeah.
- 13:50SPEAKER_09: So everybody goes around and makes their own.
- 13:52SPEAKER_09: So what you have to do is you have to do your sign and then do somebody else's sign.
- 13:56SPEAKER_09: And that person has to do their sign and then somebody else's sign before they get hit with the plushy thing.
- 14:04SPEAKER_15: Right.
- 14:05SPEAKER_09: So it's kind of like that game you were talking about there.
- 14:08SPEAKER_09: Um I think uh the carp, the carp brought it to ATLC.
- 14:12SPEAKER_09: You remember CARP?
- 14:13SPEAKER_14: I remember CARP, yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_09: I think he played it with us one time.
- 14:16SPEAKER_09: I remembered it.
- 14:19SPEAKER_14: Um I forgot something upstairs that I wanted to show you.
- 14:23SPEAKER_14: Um I really, it's really bothering me that I cannot remember the name of that game.
- 14:31SPEAKER_09: Um I'm gonna call it the Pi Game.
- 14:34SPEAKER_09: Um that way I'll remember it.
- 14:38SPEAKER_09: It's on It has to do with Pi!
- 14:41SPEAKER_14: Couch.
- 14:41SPEAKER_14: Imaginary Pie.
- 14:43SPEAKER_14: Um It's like something like Well, you know what?
- 14:48SPEAKER_14: I can I can it's because this is really gonna bother me.
- 14:51SPEAKER_14: Um because I have uh I have my uh my drive, my Google Drive on uh on my phone.
- 14:59SPEAKER_14: So if I go here and I go here and let's let's go here.
- 15:07SPEAKER_14: And I'm gonna go here and see if it's that's a game I invented called Who's Missing.
- 15:13SPEAKER_14: That's not it.
- 15:15SPEAKER_14: Uh three in the middle.
- 15:16SPEAKER_14: No, that's not it.
- 15:19SPEAKER_14: That's not it.
- 15:21SPEAKER_14: Musical chairs obviously know what that is.
- 15:23SPEAKER_14: Well, I never heard of that one.
- 15:25SPEAKER_14: That's not it.
- 15:28SPEAKER_14: No, it's not in that month.
- 15:30SPEAKER_14: Next month! Next month, uh let's see.
- 15:35SPEAKER_14: Let's see, is it in this one?
- 15:38SPEAKER_14: Um I'm wasting all kinds of time doing this, but um let's see.
- 15:47SPEAKER_14: Let me just go.
- 15:49SPEAKER_14: Let me do one more thing here.
- 15:50SPEAKER_14: Alright.
- 15:51SPEAKER_14: And if I can't find it, then I just can't find it.
- 15:53SPEAKER_14: That's just what it's going to be.
- 15:58SPEAKER_09: Um you're gonna be like, That's so true.
- 16:05SPEAKER_14: Uh not tissue dancing, not scarf dancing.
- 16:10SPEAKER_14: Definitely not.
- 16:12SPEAKER_09: Tissue dancing?
- 16:13SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 16:13SPEAKER_14: Well, yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 16:15SPEAKER_14: Uh let me see if it was possibly in November.
- 16:20SPEAKER_14: Uh no, that was the one I was just in.
- 16:22SPEAKER_14: Uh sorry.
- 16:23SPEAKER_14: Um.
- 16:25SPEAKER_14: Let me do.
- 16:27SPEAKER_14: I'm gonna do one more thing.
- 16:28SPEAKER_14: I'm gonna go October.
- 16:29SPEAKER_14: You already said that! I know.
- 16:31SPEAKER_14: I'm gonna go October and see if it's there.
- 16:35SPEAKER_14: Stand-up sit-down song, no.
- 16:37SPEAKER_14: Um, no.
- 16:39SPEAKER_14: Asteroid, cup game, no.
- 16:41SPEAKER_14: Uh games.
- 16:42SPEAKER_06: What was that last one?
- 16:43SPEAKER_06: Asteroid, what?
- 16:44SPEAKER_14: There's a cup game, and then there's another game called Asteroid.
- 16:47SPEAKER_06: Oh.
- 16:48SPEAKER_14: Uh like asteroids, like the video?
- 16:50SPEAKER_14: No, no, no, no.
- 16:50SPEAKER_14: Oh, it's I got it.
- 16:52SPEAKER_14: I found it.
- 16:52SPEAKER_14: It's called Splat.
- 16:56SPEAKER_14: That's what I couldn't think of.
- 16:58SPEAKER_14: Splat! I couldn't think of it.
- 17:00SPEAKER_14: Listen, Roger, can we play Splat?
- 17:04SPEAKER_14: Holy because in my head I was thinking Smash.
- 17:07SPEAKER_14: I was thinking everything but splat.
- 17:13SPEAKER_14: That's awesome.
- 17:14SPEAKER_09: So we are That's actually sounds I might steal that for ATLC.
- 17:16SPEAKER_14: And I might steal eyes up, eyes down for that's really fun.
- 17:19SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_09: Whereas North Rosily fun too.
- 17:21SPEAKER_09: That's a that's a very quick game.
- 17:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 17:23SPEAKER_09: Jack invented that one.
- 17:24SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 17:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was just basically a waste of time.
- 17:28SPEAKER_09: Basically, you just have everybody put their head down.
- 17:31SPEAKER_15: Yeah.
- 17:31SPEAKER_09: And then they have to point where they think north is.
- 17:37SPEAKER_09: It's pretty hysterical.
- 17:38SPEAKER_09: And who wins?
- 17:39SPEAKER_09: Whoever gets closest to pointing north, according to Jack.
- 17:43SPEAKER_09: It used to be really funny because people would be like, point like up.
- 17:47SPEAKER_09: Stuff like that.
- 17:49SPEAKER_14: I invented a game called uh, at least I think I invented it.
- 17:53SPEAKER_14: I I didn't look it up anywhere.
- 17:55SPEAKER_14: I just kind of made it up.
- 17:56SPEAKER_14: So it's probably a game that exists, but I call it Who's Missing?
- 17:59SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 18:00SPEAKER_14: So so I have a classroom full of kids, right?
- 18:03SPEAKER_14: And so I'll line them up like um facing a wall, and I'll say, Everybody close your eyes.
- 18:13SPEAKER_14: And I'm going to move you around.
- 18:15SPEAKER_14: So they they kind of look at who's standing next to them, right?
- 18:19SPEAKER_14: And I just spend and I have like creepy music going in the background.
- 18:22SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 18:23SPEAKER_14: And I'm moving, I'm I'm kind of taken by the shoulders and I'm moving them from place to place and place, and I do it for a couple minutes, and I just move these kids all over the place in a line.
- 18:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 18:32SPEAKER_14: And then while I'm doing that, I'll tap one on the shoulder and they'll go hide behind a cupboard.
- 18:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 18:39SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 18:40SPEAKER_14: And so I said, All right, when I tell you to turn around, so they turn around, and I said, When I say open your eyes, I'm gonna start at this end, and you have five seconds to take a look, and then you have five seconds to tell me who's missing.
- 18:53SPEAKER_14: And so they open their eyes.
- 18:55SPEAKER_14: First, I look at the first one and I point at them, and they look down the line five seconds.
- 18:59SPEAKER_14: All right, five seconds, who's missing?
- 19:01SPEAKER_14: Uh, so-and-so.
- 19:02SPEAKER_14: Nope.
- 19:03SPEAKER_14: Go to the next one.
- 19:05SPEAKER_14: Who's missing?
- 19:06SPEAKER_14: So-and-so, nope.
- 19:07SPEAKER_14: So, and I go all the way down the line.
- 19:08SPEAKER_14: Sometimes we make it all the way to the end.
- 19:10SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 19:10SPEAKER_14: And the poor soul, they don't like nobody likes me.
- 19:15SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 19:15unknown: Exactly.
- 19:16SPEAKER_14: But but most of the time, I get it probably not even halfway, and they'll be like, so-and-so's missing.
- 19:22SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 19:22SPEAKER_14: Because the the the people on this end are like, they have more than five seconds, right?
- 19:27SPEAKER_14: They're looking, oh, I know who it is.
- 19:29SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 19:30SPEAKER_14: But it's one of those things where it's just it is a time killer.
- 19:33SPEAKER_14: Oh, sure.
- 19:33SPEAKER_14: You know, yeah.
- 19:34SPEAKER_14: And uh sometimes I'll take two or three of them and send them back behind the cover.
- 19:39SPEAKER_14: Like, who's missing?
- 19:40SPEAKER_14: So-and-so.
- 19:41SPEAKER_14: Yes, you're right.
- 19:42SPEAKER_14: Who else is missing?
- 19:43SPEAKER_14: What?
- 19:44SPEAKER_14: What?
- 19:45SPEAKER_14: What are you talking about?
- 19:46SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 19:47SPEAKER_09: You should call that one abduction.
- 19:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I don't think that would be wise.
- 19:52SPEAKER_09: Hey mom, we played abduction at school.
- 19:54SPEAKER_09: What?
- 19:54SPEAKER_09: What did you play?
- 19:58SPEAKER_14: Um Doug wants to kick babies.
- 20:01SPEAKER_14: Oh, speaking of not not speaking of kicking babies, but speaking of something that you said, I had so Johnny B stopped me the other day.
- 20:08SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:09SPEAKER_14: Uh we went to Rendezvous.
- 20:10SPEAKER_14: Have you ever been to Rendezvous up in Caribou?
- 20:12SPEAKER_14: I haven't been there in years.
- 20:14SPEAKER_14: Not since they changed it.
- 20:15SPEAKER_14: A new place, yeah.
- 20:16SPEAKER_14: I it was my first time.
- 20:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:18SPEAKER_14: And it's also my first time uh big ball bowling.
- 20:21SPEAKER_14: I've never done I've never You've never big ball bowl?
- 20:23SPEAKER_14: No, because I've only been around here and they only they only sticking.
- 20:26SPEAKER_14: All candlesticking, yeah.
- 20:28SPEAKER_14: So anyway, this place is genius.
- 20:30SPEAKER_14: I mean it's pretty awesome, dude.
- 20:32SPEAKER_14: It's pretty awesome.
- 20:33SPEAKER_14: You know, the and and it was like youth groups, so so we had everything like pre-ordered or whatever.
- 20:40SPEAKER_14: So we went in, we've got our bowling shoes, and we got up, and it's they got these beautiful bowling lanes, TVs where you keep score, it's all digital, it's all electronic, it's amazing.
- 20:49SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_14: And so we put our shoes on and we're getting ready, we're kind of dividing up who's gonna bowl where, and and as we're doing that, they bring these pictures, pictures of soda and and water and cups.
- 21:00SPEAKER_14: I'm like, wow, that now that's service.
- 21:03SPEAKER_14: And then uh like 20 seconds later, some lady comes out with a pizza, sets it right there, and then there's there's six pizzas! Wow! Like lined right up with you know, and I'm like, this is cool.
- 21:16SPEAKER_08: Can I get a margarita?
- 21:17SPEAKER_14: No, just but but they and they have apparently it's it's like one of the biggest, if not the biggest, TV screen in the state of Maine on one of the walls.
- 21:28SPEAKER_14: It's bigger than our house, it's like ten feet you know tall.
- 21:31SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 21:32SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, in a state that has a population of less than one and a half million people, that's not a big deal.
- 21:39SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 21:39SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 21:41SPEAKER_08: We have a lot of trees.
- 21:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 21:43SPEAKER_09: We have the biggest tree in the country.
- 21:45SPEAKER_14: So you have your bowling here, and then uh like a dining area here, and then you have where you buy your you know, where you get your shoes, and then there's an arcade, full arcade over here.
- 21:56SPEAKER_14: You have a bar, and you have like a little little restaurant over.
- 22:00SPEAKER_14: On the other side.
- 22:00SPEAKER_14: It's just, it's genius.
- 22:02SPEAKER_14: Anyway, so we went there for youth group and John, Johnny B, he goes, something about, I was listening to your podcast the other day.
- 22:11SPEAKER_14: I was like, uh-oh.
- 22:13SPEAKER_14: And he goes, yeah, something Doug said.
- 22:16SPEAKER_14: I don't remember what it was, but he went, sorry, Blanchard children.
- 22:21SPEAKER_14: He's like, we laugh.
- 22:24SPEAKER_09: Good.
- 22:25SPEAKER_09: I'm glad he's a good sport.
- 22:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I thought that was funny.
- 22:30SPEAKER_14: I thought it was funny.
- 22:31SPEAKER_14: Uh anyway, so and one one of the things that anytime we do something that is that involves a sport, I don't care what sport it is, you cannot beat my wife.
- 22:46SPEAKER_14: Even if she's never done the sport.
- 22:48SPEAKER_09: Well, she's a natural athlete.
- 22:50SPEAKER_09: It's just pisses me off.
- 22:52SPEAKER_14: I know, right?
- 22:53SPEAKER_14: You know, it's it's so so you know, Eli and uh his friend Killian are are are bowling.
- 22:58SPEAKER_14: They're like they're got like a hundred and seven.
- 23:00SPEAKER_14: I was like, well, that's pretty good.
- 23:02SPEAKER_14: You know, I I stunk, you know.
- 23:04SPEAKER_14: Until the next until the second game.
- 23:05SPEAKER_14: But anyway, um until I get the hang of it.
- 23:08SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 23:09SPEAKER_14: So all these little kids are like, oh, I got 107, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 23:13SPEAKER_14: And then I go, hey, uh, Eli.
- 23:16SPEAKER_14: Look at your mother.
- 23:18SPEAKER_14: 116.
- 23:19SPEAKER_14: You know, she beat everybody the first round.
- 23:21SPEAKER_14: Of course she does, she got the highest score.
- 23:23SPEAKER_14: Uh second round, I got the hang of it.
- 23:26SPEAKER_14: And I beat her.
- 23:27SPEAKER_14: I didn't beat everybody else, I got like a 99.
- 23:29SPEAKER_14: But still, but uh every time, you know, there's a sport involved, she excels at it.
- 23:38SPEAKER_14: And I I don't I I I it it doesn't really piss me off.
- 23:42SPEAKER_14: It was, it was uh it's kind of like, yeah, she's my wife, you know, that type of thing.
- 23:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 23:47SPEAKER_14: But I always joke about it.
- 23:48SPEAKER_14: I always say, like, you know, because everybody else was saying, geez, she's really good at this.
- 23:53SPEAKER_14: I said, Yeah, she's good at everything that she does.
- 23:55SPEAKER_14: And I said, Except she can't play guitar.
- 24:02SPEAKER_14: She's like, Yep, you're right, I can't.
- 24:04SPEAKER_14: So anyway, um, notice we were playing Christmas music in the background.
- 24:08SPEAKER_14: We just figured it was kind of a neat thing to do.
- 24:11SPEAKER_09: Well, we're not gonna have a podcast next week.
- 24:12SPEAKER_09: This is true.
- 24:13SPEAKER_09: You know, so might as well uh Christmas it up today.
- 24:16SPEAKER_14: Christmas it up today.
- 24:17SPEAKER_14: Christmas it up, mate.
- 24:19SPEAKER_14: Um so we do have a what is wrong with that credit card?
- 24:24SPEAKER_14: It's my old one.
- 24:25SPEAKER_14: Oh, I was about to say.
- 24:27SPEAKER_14: That's what I got a new one.
- 24:28SPEAKER_14: Can you tell why?
- 24:29SPEAKER_14: No.
- 24:30SPEAKER_14: I can't tell at all.
- 24:32SPEAKER_14: It still works.
- 24:33SPEAKER_09: I believe it.
- 24:34SPEAKER_14: It still works.
- 24:34SPEAKER_09: It's a chip card, isn't it?
- 24:35SPEAKER_14: It is a chip card.
- 24:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean as long as the chip works.
- 24:38SPEAKER_14: I was using it, you know, like this for quite a while, actually.
- 24:41SPEAKER_14: You'd just be like, here's my credit card.
- 24:42SPEAKER_09: Did you steal this shark?
- 24:45SPEAKER_14: No, I wouldn't, I wouldn't you I wouldn't give it to anybody.
- 24:48SPEAKER_14: If I had to, if I had to run it tap, yeah.
- 24:51SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I would do it.
- 24:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_14: But if I if they had you know, if I was giving it to someone to pay for something, I wouldn't use this.
- 24:57SPEAKER_08: You'd be like, Oh, I got cash.
- 24:59SPEAKER_08: I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 25:00SPEAKER_14: There you go.
- 25:01SPEAKER_14: So what what Doug is not telling you is that this is card is basically broken in half.
- 25:05SPEAKER_09: Almost.
- 25:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 25:06SPEAKER_09: Um the strip is, it's just like ripped.
- 25:09SPEAKER_14: Yep, it is exactly where it is.
- 25:11SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 25:11SPEAKER_14: It's like a pretty straight rip, too.
- 25:13SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 25:14SPEAKER_14: Uh that's because I make the mistake of keeping credit cards in my pocket.
- 25:18SPEAKER_14: I don't put them in a wallet or anything.
- 25:19SPEAKER_14: Because my wallet is too thick.
- 25:21SPEAKER_14: I don't carry it with me.
- 25:22SPEAKER_09: You gotta get my wallet.
- 25:23SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 25:24SPEAKER_09: Is it a ridge wallet?
- 25:25SPEAKER_09: No, it's uh I don't know.
- 25:26SPEAKER_09: It's called Volkit.
- 25:27SPEAKER_14: I mean, it's got a little you know just shoot your cards out.
- 25:31SPEAKER_09: Can I just see the wallet?
- 25:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, go ahead, dude.
- 25:32SPEAKER_09: It's pretty cool.
- 25:33SPEAKER_14: And how do you shoot you just butt the buttons?
- 25:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah, just fli Just This one?
- 25:37SPEAKER_09: To the right.
- 25:39SPEAKER_14: Oh to the r to the Oh Yeah.
- 25:41SPEAKER_14: Oh, dude, that's awesome.
- 25:42SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's cool, man.
- 25:43SPEAKER_09: And then it prote it's it's RFID.
- 25:45SPEAKER_09: So it protects your well people can't scam it, you know, scan it.
- 25:50SPEAKER_15: Because it's metal?
- 25:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it protects your information.
- 25:54SPEAKER_09: The only thing I don't like about you is we can't put a lot of cash in there.
- 25:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_09: I mean, if you don't carry a lot of cash, it's perfect, but it's good for cards.
- 26:01unknown: Yeah.
- 26:01SPEAKER_09: And it's easy and it's easy to access.
- 26:03SPEAKER_14: Volkit.
- 26:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 26:05SPEAKER_09: I got it off Amazon.
- 26:06SPEAKER_09: It was like 15, 20 bucks or something.
- 26:10SPEAKER_09: Since it's Christmas.
- 26:12SPEAKER_14: Merry Christmas to you! People are no no.
- 26:15SPEAKER_14: People are always looking for ideas for Christmas.
- 26:20SPEAKER_09: I feel I felt bad last week because I had uh I had a lodge meeting and I'm sitting there and they got taught.
- 26:28SPEAKER_09: They, you know, I'm like the youngest.
- 26:30SPEAKER_09: Oh I'm one of the youngest people there.
- 26:31SPEAKER_09: I'm 52.
- 26:32SPEAKER_09: I'm one of the youngest people there.
- 26:33SPEAKER_09: That tells you anything about that's why I laugh when people are like, Freemasons are trying to take over the world.
- 26:38SPEAKER_09: I'm like, we can't have you seen those guys?
- 26:42SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 26:42SPEAKER_09: You think they're taking over the world?
- 26:44SPEAKER_09: You're you're stupid.
- 26:45SPEAKER_09: But anyway, I digress.
- 26:46SPEAKER_09: But uh, I was sitting in the meeting, and they were they were it's the end of the year, so it's like the end of the year thing, and there are all the committees are giving reports, and I I don't have any I don't have any reports to give.
- 26:58SPEAKER_09: So I sat on Amazon and did all my Christmas shopping.
- 27:02SPEAKER_09: Have you seen the Ridge Wallet?
- 27:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I know it's shop.
- 27:06SPEAKER_09: I think I had one at one point.
- 27:07SPEAKER_14: Did you?
- 27:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I think it's but you like that better.
- 27:09SPEAKER_09: Well, I just like it because it shoots the card out.
- 27:12SPEAKER_14: That's the only reason I like it.
- 27:13SPEAKER_14: It's a weapon.
- 27:14SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's a weapon.
- 27:15SPEAKER_09: You know, once I can shoot it out and you know, stab a guy with it, I'm I'm in.
- 27:19SPEAKER_14: So all you gotta really do is kind of uh cut the cut the card like sharp and then put the card.
- 27:25SPEAKER_09: Well, I had a I had a I had a credit card knife at one point.
- 27:29SPEAKER_09: A credit card knife?
- 27:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was it was it was a it was a knife, but it was shaped like a credit card and you and the blade out like that.
- 27:37SPEAKER_09: It was kind of cool.
- 27:37SPEAKER_09: I don't know what they did with it.
- 27:38SPEAKER_09: It was really cheap and probably broke.
- 27:41SPEAKER_14: Um I remember our at our last um O'Brien and Doug update where it said how many people downloaded our episodes.
- 27:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.

- 34:46SPEAKER_14: No, no, no, no.
- 34:48SPEAKER_14: But uh No, I didn't even want to go there.
- 34:52SPEAKER_14: I'll tell you after I'll tell you off the podcast.
- 34:54SPEAKER_14: Because it was it it I mean it ended up being okay and and kind of funny, but it was uncomfortable for me.
- 35:04SPEAKER_14: Uh and uncomfortable for a student.
- 35:06SPEAKER_14: And I'll tell you, I'll tell you all about it.
- 35:08SPEAKER_09: Oh boy.
- 35:08SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 35:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 35:10SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 35:11SPEAKER_14: Oh, maybe I should tell you.
- 35:12SPEAKER_14: Maybe I because it's not that uh so I knew this about this student, but uh we were playing they were playing a game.
- 35:22SPEAKER_14: Um and I wasn't teaching actually.
- 35:24SPEAKER_14: It was it was the day that I don't usually teach.
- 35:27SPEAKER_14: I had a uh well Mrs.
- 35:28SPEAKER_14: Simonoff teaches a class.
- 35:30SPEAKER_14: So that she was playing a game.
- 35:32SPEAKER_14: And we were they were naming um movies.
- 35:38SPEAKER_14: Like you put the alphabet and then you Oh you gotta like name a movie that starts with a and so uh how did that go?
- 35:51SPEAKER_14: Anyway, this this this one uh student had recently lost her father.
- 36:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 36:02SPEAKER_09: Um and like how recently like months might be months.
- 36:08SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 36:08SPEAKER_09: So it was pretty re really recently.
- 36:10SPEAKER_14: Pretty re recent, and and and so it was her turn, and I'm trying to give her a hint.
- 36:18SPEAKER_14: And I said, uh it was it was actually I think it was F.
- 36:23SPEAKER_14: It was Disney movies or something like that.
- 36:26SPEAKER_14: Or no, I actually I don't remember what it was, but I was trying to give her a hint, and I said, Good luck finding your dad.
- 36:33SPEAKER_14: Oh, it was elf.
- 36:34SPEAKER_14: Oh, it doesn't find that it was elf, yeah.
- 36:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah, so I said, Good luck finding your dad.
- 36:37SPEAKER_14: And she looks at me and she's like, Mr.
- 36:40SPEAKER_14: And everyone's like, Oh, I'm the wrong person to say that to.
- 36:44SPEAKER_14: And she's she's laughing about it.
- 36:46SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 36:46SPEAKER_14: And I'm like, oh I was just trying to give you a hint.
- 36:51SPEAKER_14: It's like, oh, I felt so I I know my face turned beat.
- 36:54SPEAKER_14: Oh, I'm sure, yeah.
- 36:55SPEAKER_14: And it was just so awful.
- 36:58SPEAKER_14: And but she was laughing about it, and of course I went up to her afterwards, gave her a big hug.
- 37:02SPEAKER_14: She's like, I know, I know, you know, but holy cow.
- 37:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah, for a second, you're like, oh my word.
- 37:08SPEAKER_14: I was just like, my gosh, stupid brain, right?
- 37:12SPEAKER_14: But I was instant, I was, you know, genuinely trying to give her a.
- 37:17SPEAKER_08: Good luck finding your dad.
- 37:19SPEAKER_08: My dad's dead.
- 37:21SPEAKER_08: I was like, oh crap.
- 37:24SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's a that's a cringe moment.
- 37:26SPEAKER_09: It is a cringe.
- 37:26SPEAKER_14: It is a cringe moment, yes.
- 37:28SPEAKER_09: I hear you, man.
- 37:29SPEAKER_14: Uh, let's see.
- 37:31SPEAKER_14: I wanted to hear some new music.
- 37:33SPEAKER_14: Is that okay with you?
- 37:34SPEAKER_09: Nah.
- 37:36SPEAKER_09: You got the computer.
- 37:37SPEAKER_14: Nice uh segue, huh?
- 37:38SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 37:39SPEAKER_14: Um good luck finding your dad.
- 37:43SPEAKER_14: So Alex Lifeson from Rush.
- 37:46SPEAKER_14: I mean, I figured we should talk about music because this is supposed to be a music commentary podcast.
- 37:50SPEAKER_09: It's Christmas.
- 37:51SPEAKER_09: We're doing it's a free-for-all.
- 37:53SPEAKER_09: Um I'm gonna talk about quantum physics masks.
- 37:57SPEAKER_14: So, former Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson's um art group, Envy of None, has released a video for their latest track Under the Stars.
- 38:07SPEAKER_14: Um offers good news for those who were worried about his recent reluctance to play solos.
- 38:14SPEAKER_14: I guess with this band, he doesn't do a lot of soloing.
- 38:18SPEAKER_09: Well, he he's got arthritis.
- 38:20SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 38:21SPEAKER_09: So I I can understand that.
- 38:24SPEAKER_14: So Um This is the second advanced single from Envy and the upcoming second album, though no release details have been released.
- 38:31SPEAKER_14: Liveson and bassist and lead songwriter Andy Curran are joined by guitar's keyboardist producer Alf Annabalini and vocalist Maya Wynne, with drums supplied by guest artist Joe Vitali.
- 38:44SPEAKER_14: Um besides guitar, Liveson also adds mandola and ood to Under the Stars, uh, which features a Rugh Rush style solo part way through.
- 38:54SPEAKER_14: So I just want to take a listen to it.
- 38:56SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 38:57SPEAKER_14: Um you know, and I know you're a rush fanatic.
- 39:00SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 39:01SPEAKER_14: Um I watched one of those reaction videos recently to a Neil Peart solo.
- 39:10SPEAKER_14: It was a drummer.
- 39:11SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 39:12SPEAKER_14: That uh I guess he listens to a lot of like contemporary, like modern rock heavy stuff.
- 39:19SPEAKER_14: And he says, Oh, you know, I know of Rush and I like Rush, and but you know, everybody keeps talking about Neil Peart, how he's like this is and so it was a s it was a drum solo, of course, if he's surrounded by his kid, obviously.
- 39:32SPEAKER_14: But it's you know and you probably know the solo, but you know, he's doing like Marimba stuff, and he's doing I mean it's just amazing to watch.
- 39:41SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 39:41SPEAKER_14: And I was listening to something the other day, and Rush was on, and it was like an album cut.
- 39:47SPEAKER_14: It was like not like a I don't remember where I was listening to it, but Alex Lifeson's guitar parts, man, are so intricate and so just um well, I mean underrated.
- 40:00SPEAKER_09: The the Alex Lifeson chord.
- 40:03SPEAKER_09: Right, right.
- 40:03SPEAKER_09: The opening chord of hemispheres.
- 40:05SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 40:05SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:06SPEAKER_09: Should be called the other because he made that up.
- 40:08SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 40:08SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 40:09SPEAKER_14: So So anyway, uh Envy of None.
- 40:12SPEAKER_14: This is Alex Lifeson's uh latest project.
- 40:14SPEAKER_14: This is called Under the Star.
- 40:15SPEAKER_14: So we'll just listen to a bit of it.
- 41:08SPEAKER_14: It's different.
- 41:09SPEAKER_09: It's really yeah, it's it's not wash like at all.
- 41:11SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's it's different.
- 41:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 41:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah, what does it feel like?
- 41:54SPEAKER_14: Supposedly it's a worst light.
- 43:13SPEAKER_14: And that was a great guitar solo, but that didn't sound like rush.
- 43:16SPEAKER_09: No.
- 43:16SPEAKER_14: No.
- 43:18SPEAKER_09: It's very actually it was actually kind of laid back for a rush solo.
- 43:23SPEAKER_09: Yeah, um, it's very um It's very melodic.
- 43:26SPEAKER_09: It's very just very like the right word?
- 43:30SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it is kind of ethereal.
- 43:32SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:32SPEAKER_09: It's just kind of like out there.
- 43:34SPEAKER_09: It's kind of like but cool.
- 43:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it's very cool.
- 43:37SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I like it.
- 43:38SPEAKER_14: I like it too.
- 43:39SPEAKER_14: Uh don't know haven't don't know when the album comes out, but uh you know they got time, so yeah.
- 43:44SPEAKER_09: As soon as we find out sure they're not uh they're not rushing it.
- 43:48SPEAKER_06: See what I did you're so good, buddy.
- 43:53SPEAKER_14: Jeez.
- 43:54SPEAKER_14: Uh let's see.
- 43:56SPEAKER_14: Okay, we got some other new music to talk about.
- 43:58SPEAKER_14: Um so to 2025 is just red corner.
- 44:06SPEAKER_14: And we've got some new releases coming up in in January and beyond.
- 44:11SPEAKER_14: So I figure we'd uh we'd take a listen to some of those.
- 44:15SPEAKER_14: Ringo Starr.
- 44:17SPEAKER_14: Ringo.
- 44:18SPEAKER_14: Ringo, not a witness.
- 44:20SPEAKER_14: Has a new album coming up.
- 44:23SPEAKER_14: From what I understand, it's a country album.
- 44:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, he was he was a big country fan.
- 44:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 44:28SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 44:28SPEAKER_09: I mean, a lot of the a lot of the covers that he did in the Beatles were covers, right?
- 44:33SPEAKER_14: Buck Owens type stuff.
- 44:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 44:36SPEAKER_14: So Ringo's uh new song is called Time on My Hands.
- 44:46SPEAKER_14: The album is called Look Up.
- 44:49SPEAKER_10: I used to have a true love, everything was fine.
- 44:58SPEAKER_10: But now she's found a new love.
- 45:02SPEAKER_10: She's no longer mine.
- 45:08SPEAKER_10: I thought it was forever, but she had other plans.
- 45:17SPEAKER_10: Now these arms are empty, and I've got time on my hands.
- 45:23SPEAKER_14: You know, he was never a great singer.
- 45:25SPEAKER_14: I think he's better now though.
- 45:26SPEAKER_14: I do too.
- 45:28SPEAKER_14: What I was gonna say is he was never a great singer, but he knows a good song.
- 45:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he can pick and pick a good song.
- 45:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 45:35SPEAKER_10: I walk the empty streets, the blue side of town.
- 45:45SPEAKER_10: When she was my baby, I was a music man.
- 45:54SPEAKER_10: But she slipped through my fingers, and I've got time on my hands.
- 46:00SPEAKER_14: So the new album is called Look Up, and that comes out January 10th.
- 46:04SPEAKER_14: That of course is Ringo Star.
- 46:06SPEAKER_14: Uh Tremonti.
- 46:08SPEAKER_14: Mark Tremonti.
- 46:09SPEAKER_14: Mark Tramonti, yeah.
- 46:10SPEAKER_14: So I apparently last year uh or this year was incredibly difficult for Mark Tremonti.
- 46:17SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 46:18SPEAKER_14: Because he's so freaking talented.
- 46:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it must be rough.
- 46:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's gotta be rough.
- 46:25SPEAKER_14: Um because he's got um Alter Bridge.
- 46:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:30SPEAKER_14: And they were touring a bit, I think.
- 46:33SPEAKER_14: He's got this solo band Tremontti.
- 46:35SPEAKER_14: He's also a Frank Sinatra type singer.
- 46:38SPEAKER_14: I don't know if you knew that or not.
- 46:39SPEAKER_14: I did not know.
- 46:39SPEAKER_14: Really, really good.
- 46:40SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 46:41SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 46:41SPEAKER_14: Interesting.
- 46:42SPEAKER_14: And he does gigs as that as well.
- 46:43SPEAKER_14: He does these these, you know, side gigs.
- 46:46SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 46:46SPEAKER_14: His Frank Sinatra band type thing.
- 46:48SPEAKER_14: And Creed just you reunited.
- 46:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah, they were they were just in uh they were just down in Bangor.
- 46:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 46:55SPEAKER_09: I thought it was funny because uh I, you know, I saw a lot of people posting about Creed and Three Doors Down.
- 47:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 47:01SPEAKER_09: Nobody said anything about Mammoth.
- 47:03SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 47:03SPEAKER_09: I was like, that's Eddie's son.
- 47:05SPEAKER_09: That's who I would have gone to see.
- 47:06SPEAKER_09: That's who I would have gone to see.
- 47:09SPEAKER_09: Anyway, that's just me.
- 47:10SPEAKER_14: Uh well Tron Tremontti has a new album coming out, also January 10th called The End Will Show Us How.
- 47:16SPEAKER_14: Ah.
- 47:18SPEAKER_14: So.
- 47:18SPEAKER_14: Uh January 17th.
- 47:20SPEAKER_14: Let's see, I don't want to do reissues here.
- 47:23SPEAKER_14: Boring.
- 47:26SPEAKER_14: Um, Steve Hackett, live magic at Trading Boundaries.
- 47:29SPEAKER_14: I'm not sure what uh what that is.
- 47:32SPEAKER_09: Steve Hackett, wasn't he in Yes?
- 47:34SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 47:37SPEAKER_14: Uh January 24th.
- 47:39SPEAKER_14: Blink 182, one more time, part two.
- 47:43SPEAKER_14: I'm assuming that's new.
- 47:45SPEAKER_09: Oh.
- 47:45SPEAKER_09: Tom must be done looking for UFOs.
- 47:48SPEAKER_14: Well, they put out an album last year, which I got, which was pretty good.
- 47:52SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 47:53SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it was decent.
- 47:54SPEAKER_14: Uh let's see.
- 47:56SPEAKER_14: Well, we have this one, and you know, uh I'm a huge Clampton fan, but I think probably in the last 15, 20 years, I'm having been crazy about it.
- 48:10SPEAKER_14: Uh this is called One Woman.
- 48:12SPEAKER_09: Didn't we listen to this already?
- 48:15SPEAKER_09: Did we?
- 48:16SPEAKER_09: I think we did.
- 48:17SPEAKER_09: Because we were both like, eh.
- 48:19SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 48:25SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:26SPEAKER_14: You can't blame him, I guess.
- 48:27SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 48:28SPEAKER_14: He's still making music.
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: That's all that matters.
- 48:30SPEAKER_14: So his album, meanwhile, comes out January 24th.
- 48:35SPEAKER_14: Uh uh.
- 48:39SPEAKER_14: This is okay.
- 48:41SPEAKER_14: So I'm gonna say some of these because I'm just a big fan of Hootie and the Blowfish.
- 48:45SPEAKER_14: The Atlantic Years, 1994 to 2003, a 6LP or 5 CD box set.
- 48:50SPEAKER_14: Ooh.
- 48:50SPEAKER_14: Comes out January 24th.
- 48:52SPEAKER_14: I'm getting mad.
- 48:53SPEAKER_14: Um then Lizzie.
- 48:57SPEAKER_14: Acoustic sessions.
- 48:58SPEAKER_14: Now I heard about this.
- 49:00SPEAKER_14: They they took um um Phil?
- 49:06SPEAKER_14: Phil.
- 49:07SPEAKER_14: Thank you.
- 49:07SPEAKER_14: They took Phil's uh the the the records took his voice from the records and then just kind of recorded the acoustic instruments around his voice.
- 49:18SPEAKER_14: Interesting.
- 49:18SPEAKER_14: Yeah, and and released it as an acoustic session.
- 49:22SPEAKER_14: So it's still it's still Phil Line it, but it's from the original albums.
- 49:29SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 49:29SPEAKER_14: Or the original album.
- 49:31SPEAKER_14: And uh just acoustic versions.
- 49:33SPEAKER_14: Just acoustic, yeah, versions.
- 49:35SPEAKER_14: Wow, yeah.
- 49:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah, right.
- 49:38SPEAKER_14: Uh those are re-issues, reissues, re-issues.
- 49:42SPEAKER_14: Um Anderson, Bruford, Wakeman, and Howe.
- 49:45SPEAKER_14: An evening of Yes Music Plus.
- 49:48SPEAKER_14: Um, I'm not sure if that is it's a two C D two DVD box.
- 49:54SPEAKER_14: It must be new, I guess.
- 49:56SPEAKER_14: Isn't it?
- 49:57SPEAKER_14: Are they all I don't know?
- 49:59SPEAKER_14: They're all still alive, but I think.
- 50:02SPEAKER_14: Uh, this is reissue.
- 50:04SPEAKER_14: This is the very best of um Joe Satrion, Eric Johnson, and Steve I.
- 50:11SPEAKER_14: The G3 Reunion Live.
- 50:13SPEAKER_14: Oh, that'd be good.
- 50:14SPEAKER_14: Comes out January 31st.
- 50:16SPEAKER_14: Um more vinyl reissues.
- 50:20SPEAKER_14: Nothing new there.
- 50:22SPEAKER_14: Um, Dream Theater.
- 50:24SPEAKER_09: I can't wait for that.
- 50:25SPEAKER_14: That comes out February 7th.
- 50:27SPEAKER_14: This is no Night Terror is the one that we listen to, right?
- 50:29SPEAKER_14: I think so, yeah.
- 50:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's 10 minutes long.
- 50:31SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 50:32SPEAKER_14: Uh also February 7th.
- 50:35SPEAKER_09: You say a Dream Theater man of the song that's 10 minutes long.
- 50:38SPEAKER_09: Which one?
- 50:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, right.
- 50:40SPEAKER_14: Uh Andy Fairweather Lowe, uh, who has been Eric Clapton's side rhythm guitar player for years.
- 50:48SPEAKER_14: Uh he's releasing an album called The Invisible Blues Man on February 7th.
- 50:53SPEAKER_09: I wonder if that's a kind of a dig.
- 50:57SPEAKER_09: Yes.
- 50:57SPEAKER_09: That's what it sounds like.
- 50:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah, maybe.
- 50:59SPEAKER_14: He's been living in a shadow.
- 51:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 51:01SPEAKER_14: Um Parasomnia, the dream theater album, uh, like I said, February 7th.

- 51:20SPEAKER_14: Uh Ian Gillen from Deep Purple.
- 51:23SPEAKER_14: That's a retrospect.
- 51:24SPEAKER_14: That comes out February 14th.
- 51:31SPEAKER_14: Patterson Hood of the Drive By Truckers.
- 51:34SPEAKER_14: Uh, Exploding Trees and Airplane Screens, February 21st.
- 51:38SPEAKER_14: I never really considered the drive-by truck as a rock band.
- 51:41SPEAKER_14: No.
- 51:43SPEAKER_14: But they're definitely not a straight-up country band either.
- 51:47SPEAKER_09: No.
- 51:48SPEAKER_14: But this is Patterson Hood with Lydia Loveless, Werewolf and a Girl.
- 52:08SPEAKER_14: Alright, the interest is gone.
- 52:10SPEAKER_00: When you came back to town, picked you up at the trailways, and you kissed me on the mouth.
- 52:19SPEAKER_00: Saw a movie set in London about a werewolf and a girl.
- 52:25SPEAKER_00: Tattoo you was on my stereo.
- 52:31SPEAKER_01: You can do it if you feel like I won't come out complaining.
- 52:37SPEAKER_01: I just tattoo straight.
- 52:40SPEAKER_01: Even if there is something, you can do it if you feel like waiting for course.
- 52:48SPEAKER_09: I'm waiting for something interesting.
- 52:49unknown: But I'm morning in the morning.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: But I'm almost in the morning.
- 52:56SPEAKER_01: I'll be gone before you do.

- 54:08SPEAKER_14: That's uh which you cut into life play based.
- 54:12SPEAKER_09: I didn't even realize a woman, yep.
- 54:15SPEAKER_09: Well I developed in silhouette, I didn't even know it.

- 54:58SPEAKER_14: I dig it.
- 54:59SPEAKER_14: I think that's that's a cool question.
- 55:00SPEAKER_14: What's the name of this?
- 55:01SPEAKER_14: Uh Black Light White Noise.
- 55:02SPEAKER_14: And this song is called White Noise.
- 55:04SPEAKER_09: So Black Light White Noise is the name of the band?
- 55:07SPEAKER_09: What's the name of the band?
- 55:08SPEAKER_14: Uh Smith Kotson.
- 55:09SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 55:09SPEAKER_14: Adrian Smith and Richie Kotson.
- 55:11SPEAKER_09: Oh, okay.

- 55:22SPEAKER_14: Um March 28th.
- 55:25SPEAKER_14: New stuff from the darkness.
- 55:28SPEAKER_14: Also an underrated band, in my opinion.
- 55:32SPEAKER_14: If you can get past his voice.
- 55:34SPEAKER_16: Yeah.
- 55:37SPEAKER_16: Our lips met and feel to me.
- 55:41SPEAKER_16: And lingered longer than any human mind.
- 55:48SPEAKER_16: And now I'm on it going for that.
- 55:52SPEAKER_16: That's what they used to write that poetry about.
- 55:58SPEAKER_14: Very yellow.

- 59:55SPEAKER_09: Uh okay, so this is what she said.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_09: Uh this week was this week was fun, and I really loved the song picks, but I went with Lovely Day.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_09: That was one you chose.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_09: Oh, nice.
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_09: It's a really bright and cheerful song and would be great music to listen to while enjoying a nice day.
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_09: And so, and then she said, I look forward to this week's podcast and y'all's picks, and happy belated birthday to O'Brien.
- 1:00:25SPEAKER_14: So nice.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_14: So sweet, sweet.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_14: I don't know who she is, but she's sweet.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I don't know she is.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_09: Of course she is.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_09: I wouldn't have chosen her otherwise.
- 1:00:34SPEAKER_09: Okay, so that's uh that was passed.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_09: So present.
- 1:00:38SPEAKER_09: This week's question is uh it's Friday, you just found a hundred dollar bill on the floor.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_09: What song is playing in your head as you strut down the aisle?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_14: So I will Coast and Larry.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_14: Coast and Larry Coast and Larry do the dance of joy.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_09: Dance of joy.
- 1:00:59SPEAKER_09: Okay, so this is what cousin Larry said.
- 1:01:03SPEAKER_09: Uh mixtape.
- 1:01:05SPEAKER_09: So I really did find a hundred dollar bill once on the sidewalk as I was leaving work, and I as I previously previously shared.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_09: The first song that came to mind was We Got a Dollar, We Got a Dollar, Hey, Hey, Hey, from Little Rascals Poofy.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_09: LOL.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_09: I'm not sure that really qualifies since it's not probably in the true spirit of mixtape.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_09: If not, I'll go with Money for Nothing by Dare Streets.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_14: Oh, is that what he's going with?
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_09: Well, I think he wants to go with the Little Rascal one.
- 1:01:33SPEAKER_09: We got a dollar, we got a dollar, hey, hey, hey.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_09: I don't even know.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_09: I don't even know that.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_09: I never saw that movie, so I don't know anything about it.
- 1:01:41SPEAKER_14: Hold on, let me see if I can see if I can find it.
- 1:01:47unknown: We got a doll.
- 1:01:48SPEAKER_09: That's the one.
- 1:01:53SPEAKER_02: We've got a dumb.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_02: We've got it dumb, hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 1:01:58SPEAKER_14: There it is.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_14: That's it.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_14: That's what I'm gonna do.
- 1:02:00SPEAKER_14: I like that.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_14: Uh so is that what he wants to go with?
- 1:02:04SPEAKER_09: He said uh I'm warming up my first song that came to mind was that, so uh I'm not sure it qualifies, but I say it qualifies, so I want to go with that one.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_14: You want to go with that one?
- 1:02:17SPEAKER_14: Alright, so we're going with the rat little rascals.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_14: I like it.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_14: We got a dollar.
- 1:02:20SPEAKER_14: We got a dollar.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_09: Hey, hey, hey, hey.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_14: So what's yours?
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_09: Mine was uh I don't know why I thought about this.

- 1:03:59SPEAKER_14: Uh so mine, I went in a different direction.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_14: All right.

- 1:04:06SPEAKER_14: As soon as you said So as soon as you said um about a hundred dollars.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_14: Um I thought of a song by a country songwriter, singer-songwriter named Radney Foster.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_14: Um I'm a Lot More Handsome with a C note in my pocket.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_14: Uh, this song is called Folding Money.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_14: So I'm gonna I'm gonna play it until you uh hear the chorus, but then I want to get to that one part.
- 1:04:44SPEAKER_14: So this is this is Folding Money.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_14: And it's he's a country singer-songwriter, but this isn't really a country song.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_12: When I was just above my granddaddy took me to town one afternoon, go to the help of cowboy, mama nothing about it.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_12: Don't spend out one little couple, I don't want to be a little staff bring back up, take it all in the way a little bit.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_14: Okay, so there's one more.
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_14: Let me get that verse here.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_14: I think this is this is the burst I was talking about.
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_14: As soon as you as soon as you read the part, I'm like, hmm, that reminds me of that song.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_12: It's just the first.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_12: It's a pain in the back, it's a cold hard back.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_12: Gets to everybody.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_12: You can give it to a charity.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_12: And it's not a sparity.
- 1:06:31SPEAKER_12: It's not gonna be overfriend.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_12: You can add a bit, it'll tell you if you let it, you can blow it with an eye to go.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_12: It'll make you wild fight about the truth of the matter.
- 1:06:43SPEAKER_12: Can't tell you what you're winning, you go fast, and I'll let the back.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_12: Hold on.
- 1:06:49SPEAKER_12: Must be this verse.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_12: There we go.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_12: This is the first.

- 1:07:07SPEAKER_12: Twin a mile is cat.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_12: Announcement romance is black money.
- 1:07:16SPEAKER_12: You can always get more if you got it.
- 1:07:19SPEAKER_12: You'll never tell you, friend, I'm a lot more handsome with a seen over.
- 1:07:26SPEAKER_14: That's what made me think that.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_14: Sorry.
- 1:07:29SPEAKER_14: I played a little more of my song than anybody else's.
- 1:07:31SPEAKER_14: I apologize.
- 1:07:32SPEAKER_14: But uh I wasn't gonna say anything, but I have the controls.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_14: Exactly.
- 1:07:38SPEAKER_14: Um so folding money, Radney Foster, uh, is mine.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_14: Staying alive from the Bee Gees is yours.
- 1:07:43SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_14: And we got a dollar.
- 1:07:45SPEAKER_14: We got a dollar.
- 1:07:46SPEAKER_14: We got a dollar from the little rascals is Cousin Larry's.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_14: And I don't know, should you throw the money for nothing in there for for him in case?
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_02: Nah, I like the little rascals, man.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_14: That's funny.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_14: All right.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_14: We'll do that.
- 1:07:56SPEAKER_14: So that is present.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_14: What is future?
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_14: Future!
- 1:08:01SPEAKER_09: Be real future because it'll be in a couple weeks.
- 1:08:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah, this is true.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_09: You are eleven years old.
- 1:08:08SPEAKER_09: Standing behind the divider wall at the roller rink.
- 1:08:12SPEAKER_09: What song is playing during couple skate when you look up to see your crush from school heading in your direction, smiling at you?
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_14: Wow.

- 1:08:52SPEAKER_14: I just got too much in my brain.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_14: I couldn't even think of the word splat.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_14: Splat.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_14: Splat is hard.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_14: Alright.

- 1:10:48SPEAKER_14: From Prices Right.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_14: Alright, it's a beautiful song.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_14: What song do we have today, Doug?
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_09: In the spirit of the holiday, it's Christmas time.
- 1:10:56SPEAKER_09: It's here again.
- 1:10:58SPEAKER_09: Particularly for the British, the Beatles became inextricably tied up with the Christmases of the 60s.
- 1:11:05SPEAKER_09: Six of their albums were released to capitalize on the Christmas market, and four of their singles were Christmas number ones.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_09: In 1963 and 1964, they presented special Christmas shows in London theaters, which were a mixture of music and panamine, and had support acts ranging from the Yardbirds to Rolf Harris.
- 1:11:24SPEAKER_09: Between 1963 and 1969, they produced a flexi disc exclusively for members of their official fan club, which offered spoken greetings from each beetle and some lighthearted studio banter.
- 1:12:01SPEAKER_09: Christmas time is here again.
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_09: The only original song written for fan club members came out in 1967, the year that Magical Mystery Tour was being screened on Boxing Day.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_09: The unedited version, recorded on November 28th, was more than six minutes long, and parts of it were used to punctuate a satirical sketch written by all four Beatles.
- 1:12:23SPEAKER_09: Although it consists largely of a single line repeated like a musical mantra.
- 1:12:29SPEAKER_09: Right there.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_09: Christmas Time is here again, is illustrative of their fascination with children's songs and rhymes, which began with Yellow Submarine in 1966.
- 1:12:40SPEAKER_09: This in part reflected nostalgia for the liver pool of the 40s, but it was also part of the psychedelic tendency to regress to simpler states of mind where it wasn't out of place for an adult to wear ripp jeans, blow bubbles, and think buttercups were far out.
- 1:12:58SPEAKER_09: So.
- 1:13:28SPEAKER_10: This is John Lennon saying on behalf of the Beatles, have a very happy Christmas, a good new year.
- 1:13:35SPEAKER_10: George Hadrison speaking, I'd like to take this opportunity of wishing a very Merry Christmas listeners everywhere.
- 1:13:42SPEAKER_10: This is Bingo Star, and I'd just like to say Merry Christmas and a very happy new year to all listeners.
- 1:13:49SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_14: There we go.
- 1:13:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah, very cool.
- 1:13:51SPEAKER_14: Very cool.
- 1:13:52SPEAKER_14: Um, so we failed to mention this.
- 1:13:56SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 1:13:57SPEAKER_14: It's my rain stick.
- 1:13:59SPEAKER_09: I like this thing.
- 1:14:03SPEAKER_14: Uh since we're talking about the Beatles, I didn't want to get very far until we talked about you know, you had Freddy Mercury's or um Bohemian Rhapsody, you had the Elton John um musical biopic.
- 1:14:16SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_14: Whatever.
- 1:14:17SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:14:18SPEAKER_14: Uh and you know, a couple other ones.
- 1:14:20SPEAKER_14: I think uh Shailen Woodley, do you know who that is?
- 1:14:22SPEAKER_14: Nope.
- 1:14:23SPEAKER_14: She was dating Aaron Rogers, she's an actress, she was in like the the Divergent series.
- 1:14:28SPEAKER_14: Uh great actress, anyway, young actress.
- 1:14:30SPEAKER_14: She's playing Janice Joplin.
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 1:14:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah, which would be interesting to see.
- 1:14:34SPEAKER_14: Um they're talking about uh uh more than one, actually, biopic for the Beatles.
- 1:14:41SPEAKER_14: Um while the exact details of the project have been carefully guarded, we do know that four separate films are planned, with each telling the band's story through the respective perspectives of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr.
- 1:14:55SPEAKER_09: That's interesting.
- 1:14:56SPEAKER_14: It is interesting.
- 1:14:58SPEAKER_14: Is Peter Jackson doing it?
- 1:14:59SPEAKER_14: Uh a news release earlier this year confirmed that the movies are scheduled for release in 2027, and reports have indicated filming will begin in the summer of next year.
- 1:15:07SPEAKER_14: This marks the first time the band has granted the rights to their life stories and music for a feature film.
- 1:15:13SPEAKER_14: Sam Mendez, uh Academy Award-winning director, will be tasked with the challenge of bringing the Beatles to the big screen.
- 1:15:19SPEAKER_14: It brings in an impressive resume with him, including American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Jarhead, and Skyfall and Spectre, both James Bond movies.
- 1:15:27SPEAKER_14: Um he's uh the biggest name officially tied to the project.
- 1:15:32SPEAKER_14: Other rumors suggest who has been cast as each member of the Fab for.
- 1:15:37SPEAKER_14: Paul Mascal is the only one that I know.
- 1:15:40SPEAKER_14: Paul Mascal, there was a a kind of a Netflix series that I started watching that was really good.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_14: Uh I didn't I didn't finish watching it.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_14: I'm trying to remember the name of it.
- 1:15:51SPEAKER_14: But he's the new guy in Gladiator 2.
- 1:15:54SPEAKER_14: He's the Oh, he's the like the the uh the new the new Russell Crowe.
- 1:15:59SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he's he would be Russell Crowe's kid.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay.
- 1:16:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah, in in the new Gladiator movie.
- 1:16:03SPEAKER_14: Um Lucius is who he plays.
- 1:16:06SPEAKER_14: Um but i I've seen him uh in other things and he was really good.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_14: Uh Ridley Scott, who directed Ms.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_14: Calum Glad Gladiator 2, noted that uh the actor won't be appearing in his next project due to another commitment, so that's why they're saying it's it's the new it's well I mean look at this.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_14: So I guess he could probably pull it off.
- 1:16:26SPEAKER_09: Yeah, uh a little bit, yeah.
- 1:16:27SPEAKER_09: A little bit.
- 1:16:28SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_09: Uh not great.
- 1:16:30SPEAKER_14: No, no.
- 1:16:31SPEAKER_14: You know what was good casting, and I because I don't know these other guys here.
- 1:16:34SPEAKER_14: I'm just I'll show you the pictures here.
- 1:16:36SPEAKER_14: Who's planning the and again, these are just rumors.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:16:40SPEAKER_14: Um I would say that guy looks more like Lennon than than than Ringo.
- 1:16:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:16:47SPEAKER_09: Uh I mean he looks nothing like George.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 1:16:51SPEAKER_09: I mean like zero.
- 1:16:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:16:53SPEAKER_14: So I'm not even naming those guys because A, the rumors.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_14: Uh, and B, um but it it's not uh But I I like the concept.
- 1:17:02SPEAKER_09: It's like from each each b each band member's perspective.
- 1:17:06SPEAKER_14: How are they gonna get John Lennon's perspective or George Harrison's perspective?
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_09: Just from just probably from like family and just like you know, their autobiography.
- 1:17:15SPEAKER_09: Yeah, their memoirs or whatever.
- 1:17:17SPEAKER_09: Interviews and stuff like that.
- 1:17:18SPEAKER_09: I suppose.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_14: Um so that that'll be kind of cool, I guess.
- 1:17:23SPEAKER_14: Uh what was I gonna say?
- 1:17:25SPEAKER_09: The concert for George was on PBS last week.
- 1:17:27SPEAKER_09: I love that.
- 1:17:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I own that.
- 1:17:29SPEAKER_14: I own that.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:17:30SPEAKER_14: My favorite part, did I ever tell you my favorite part of that?
- 1:17:33SPEAKER_14: That whole concert?
- 1:17:35SPEAKER_14: I think I did.
- 1:17:36SPEAKER_09: Probably.
- 1:17:38SPEAKER_14: Um it's when they're bl they're doing the song something.
- 1:17:46SPEAKER_14: Paul McCartney.
- 1:17:48SPEAKER_14: I was watching this with my wife years and years and years ago when it first came out.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:17:52SPEAKER_14: And so Paul McCartney did the piano.
- 1:17:56SPEAKER_14: And uh actually no, they he started on the on the Uke, I think.
- 1:17:59SPEAKER_14: Something and then he moved to piano, and Clapton's of of course playing there.
- 1:18:04SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:18:05SPEAKER_14: And so they're playing the the bigger the the bigger band is playing, and they show McCartney and he's singing singing it.
- 1:18:12SPEAKER_14: And then Clapton comes in and starts singing and they're harmonizing.
- 1:18:18SPEAKER_14: And they show them both together.
- 1:18:20SPEAKER_14: And I was like, Do you appre can you appreciate that moment right there?
- 1:18:25SPEAKER_14: My wife's like, what do you mean?
- 1:18:27SPEAKER_14: I'm like, There's the history that's right there.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:18:30SPEAKER_14: You know, because Clapton and George Harrison were great friends.
- 1:18:35SPEAKER_09: Clapton took his wife and they were married for a long time.
- 1:18:41SPEAKER_14: And Layla was about, you know.
- 1:18:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:18:45SPEAKER_14: And but they still remained great buds.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:18:48SPEAKER_14: You know, the song uh Here Comes the Son was written on Clapton's guitar in his garden or something like that.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:18:56SPEAKER_14: Um but you know, and Paul McCartney, you know, it just Paul McCartney and Clapton played on while my guitar gently weeps, and just seeing them harmonizing to the on this song uh for their friend.
- 1:19:13SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:19:14SPEAKER_14: To me was weighty.
- 1:19:15SPEAKER_14: I mean it was heavy.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:19:16SPEAKER_14: It was cool.
- 1:19:18SPEAKER_14: Um and then, you know, they like they showed the whole crowd and the angle that they showed it.
- 1:19:21SPEAKER_14: It was like just the just the just the weight in that room, you know, when they did that.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_14: Oh, yes.
- 1:19:28SPEAKER_14: And you know, of course, his son Danny Harrison was was playing with them as well.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:19:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's a great concert.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_14: Such a great concert.
- 1:19:34SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I love it.
- 1:19:36SPEAKER_14: Um so that's it?
- 1:19:38SPEAKER_14: Is that it?
- 1:19:39SPEAKER_14: Is that it?
- 1:19:40SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:19:41SPEAKER_14: I guess so.
- 1:19:42SPEAKER_14: That's episode two twenty-three.
- 1:19:43SPEAKER_09: Well, we haven't done the you didn't set who the wall of tunes is yet.
- 1:19:48SPEAKER_14: I was about to end the episode.
- 1:19:51SPEAKER_14: Is the rain stick distracting you?
- 1:19:54SPEAKER_14: Splat.
- 1:19:55SPEAKER_14: Splat.
- 1:19:56SPEAKER_14: Um alright, so yes, I do have an album.
- 1:19:58SPEAKER_14: So I will say, let the guessing begin.
- 1:20:02SPEAKER_09: Is it a band?
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_09: No.
- 1:20:03SPEAKER_09: Solo?
- 1:20:04SPEAKER_09: Yes.

- 1:21:41SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 1:21:41SPEAKER_14: Um George Michael gets a bad rap, I believe.
- 1:21:46SPEAKER_14: Um, he didn't do himself any favors.
- 1:21:48SPEAKER_14: No, he did not.
- 1:21:49SPEAKER_14: But I mean, I like to say he got caught up in the culture.
- 1:21:53SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah, I mean, it was the 80s.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:21:55SPEAKER_09: I mean, what you know, you can't you can't blame a guy for that.

- 1:22:12SPEAKER_09: Uh I get it.
- 1:22:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:22:14SPEAKER_14: Very, very great songwriter, singer, um, performer.

- 1:22:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:22:27SPEAKER_14: Uh, which of course had this song, Father Figure.
- 1:22:32SPEAKER_14: Um let's see if I can find.
- 1:22:36SPEAKER_14: Just listen to this for a second.
- 1:22:38SPEAKER_03: That's all I don't take.
- 1:22:54SPEAKER_03: That's dope.
- 1:23:06SPEAKER_03: Maybe it's time to do it.
- 1:23:11SPEAKER_14: Let's just play a bunch of songs from that one album.
- 1:23:14SPEAKER_14: So there's Father Figure.
- 1:23:18SPEAKER_14: Kissing a Fool.
- 1:23:21SPEAKER_09: I've never heard this one.
- 1:23:22SPEAKER_14: Oh, this is Yeah, you have.
- 1:23:25SPEAKER_09: Oh, I probably have.

- 1:23:33SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I have.
- 1:23:34SPEAKER_14: Must have been kissing a fool.
- 1:23:37SPEAKER_14: Uh, if I'm just going for songs from that album, I want to say this is the faith album?
- 1:23:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah, this was.
- 1:23:49SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:23:51SPEAKER_14: This is a different version.
- 1:23:54SPEAKER_14: This of course was controversial at the time.
- 1:23:57SPEAKER_14: No! I want this song.
- 1:23:59SPEAKER_14: I want your S E X This one also.
- 1:24:41SPEAKER_14: Monkey on my back, yeah.
- 1:24:43SPEAKER_14: And then, of course, the title cut.
- 1:24:53SPEAKER_14: That old dad joke.
- 1:24:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:24:58SPEAKER_09: We don't need to revisit it.
- 1:24:59SPEAKER_09: We don't need to revisit.
- 1:25:00SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 1:25:02SPEAKER_08: Well, I guess it would be rice.
- 1:25:04SPEAKER_08: And you still did.
- 1:25:13SPEAKER_14: I guess it would be rice.
- 1:25:14SPEAKER_14: Oh, wait, no.
- 1:25:18SPEAKER_14: Okay, so we know that album.
- 1:25:20SPEAKER_14: Um, and uh the band of obviously that I was talking about.
- 1:25:23SPEAKER_14: Um wham.
- 1:25:25SPEAKER_14: Uh so you have this Quintessential.
- 1:25:32SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 1:25:34SPEAKER_09: Timeless.
- 1:25:37SPEAKER_09: I think he wrote this when he was in high school, didn't he?
- 1:25:40SPEAKER_14: I think I heard that.
- 1:25:41SPEAKER_17: Yeah.
- 1:25:44SPEAKER_14: I want to play this though.
- 1:25:47SPEAKER_14: I know you've I know you've probably seen it, uh, but I wanted because I thought it was hilarious.
- 1:25:53SPEAKER_14: Let's see.
- 1:25:58SPEAKER_14: Why is it not playing?
- 1:26:06SPEAKER_14: My headphones are still attached to it.
- 1:26:13SPEAKER_14: Turn off my blue because I think you've heard this, but if you haven't, you have to.
- 1:26:20SPEAKER_14: It's um so it's what if uh wisdom for the nose.
- 1:26:32SPEAKER_08: Let's go to make it without each other with the things we want to put in the sound candle.
- 1:26:50SPEAKER_14: There was another one that had his face superimposed over over George Michaels.
- 1:26:55SPEAKER_14: That was quite uh quite uh entertaining as well.
- 1:26:59SPEAKER_14: Uh oh.
- 1:27:18SPEAKER_14: Anyway, what you can do with AI today is crazy.
- 1:27:22SPEAKER_14: Um so yeah, and that but my I liked um well, of course I liked the Faith album, but the um was it the Freedom album?
- 1:27:32SPEAKER_14: Is that what it was called?
- 1:27:34SPEAKER_14: Where it had Praying for Time.
- 1:27:36SPEAKER_14: This one is Praying for Time.
- 1:27:38SPEAKER_14: Um it had Too Funky.
- 1:27:44SPEAKER_14: We're running out of time here, so I don't want to play too much, but this was a great song.
- 1:27:48SPEAKER_14: Of course, you have this.
- 1:27:51SPEAKER_14: It's 1990.
- 1:27:55SPEAKER_14: You remember this one, right?
- 1:28:00SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:28:02SPEAKER_09: Freedom, right?
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:28:04SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:28:10SPEAKER_14: Great stuff.
- 1:28:11SPEAKER_14: This was stuff from I think this is from that same album.
- 1:28:15SPEAKER_14: Too funky.
- 1:28:19SPEAKER_14: This was around the time you were in the Marines, I think.
- 1:28:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I wouldn't be listening to George White Right.
- 1:28:36SPEAKER_09: Kind of sounds like Michael Jackson.
- 1:28:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 1:28:40SPEAKER_14: But then his cover of the Queen song was one of the best covers I've ever heard.
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_16: Thank you very much.
- 1:28:46SPEAKER_16: This song is one of my favorites.
- 1:28:53SPEAKER_14: Remember that?
- 1:28:54SPEAKER_16: Oh yeah.
- 1:29:02SPEAKER_14: This was a hit for him.
- 1:29:03SPEAKER_14: He he released that to radio and it was a hit.
- 1:29:05SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:29:06SPEAKER_14: So it was and it was that's and then Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 1:29:10SPEAKER_14: Uh he did a duet with Elton John.
- 1:29:12SPEAKER_14: That was a big one for him.
- 1:29:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah, so so you know, he got a bad rap because he was into a a bunch of just uh bad stuff and kind of h led his life in a way that I don't know was not cool with other people, you know, in some in some ways.
- 1:29:27SPEAKER_14: Um it was cool with him, I guess.
- 1:29:29SPEAKER_14: I guess that's all that mattered.
- 1:29:31SPEAKER_09: Well I just i i i I think just life just spiraled out of control.
- 1:29:35SPEAKER_09: I think that's true.
- 1:29:36SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I think that's true.
- 1:29:37SPEAKER_14: And it's a shame because I mean he passed, geez, I don't know how long ago must have been.
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_14: Was it twenty years ago?
- 1:29:42SPEAKER_14: Roughly 15, 20 years ago.
- 1:29:44SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 1:29:45SPEAKER_14: Um and I think it was drugs, right?
- 1:29:48SPEAKER_14: I mean, he was wasn't it?
- 1:29:50SPEAKER_09: Yeah, well, there's a lot of controversy about it because his boyfriend at the time was the only one that waited to call the police and stuff like that.
- 1:29:59SPEAKER_09: So it's it's a really shady you know thing, but uh yeah, it's it's it's a shame.
- 1:30:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it is a shame.
- 1:30:06SPEAKER_14: It is a shame because that was a talented guy right there.
- 1:30:09SPEAKER_14: So uh George Michael, ladies and gentlemen, the best of George Michael is the uh double album or the double CD set, sorry.
