- 0:00Speaker 1: Even the lefties agree. It's one more thing.
- 0:04Speaker 2: I'm strong, one more thing in a witch.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I was playing golf and this friend of mine. I
- 0:18Speaker 3: had no idea of his politics, and I don't really care.
- 0:20Speaker 3: But it turns out he's not only a lefty but
- 0:23Speaker 3: hates Trump with an enthusiasm that would be difficult to
- 0:27Speaker 3: properly describe those people. And when that came out, it
- 0:32Speaker 3: it made things a little uncomfortable.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Not that I'm a huge fan or anything, but I mean.
- 0:36Speaker 3: He was like seriously, seriously fired up and well seriously serious.
- 0:42Speaker 1: Well, it depends on how you're built. If I if
- 0:44Speaker 1: I'm in a group of people and I don't know
- 0:47Speaker 1: their political leanings and somebody is like really really animated
- 0:54Speaker 1: one way or the other about a political issue, it
- 0:56Speaker 1: makes me incredibly uncomfortable, even if I one hundred percent
- 0:58Speaker 1: agree with them, Even if I could say the same
- 1:01Speaker 1: thing myself, it just makes me like, ah, dude or ma'am, really,
- 1:05Speaker 1: I don't come on, you're making some people here? What
- 1:09Speaker 1: are we doing?
- 1:10Speaker 3: I agree with you completely. In this case, it was
- 1:12Speaker 3: just the two of us, and it was quite restrained.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Did he know you passion? But does he know where
- 1:18Speaker 1: you are? On this.
- 1:19Speaker 4: I think he has an idea.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But so anytime you do that around somebody else, you're
- 1:26Speaker 1: either saying, would you like to debate me? And I've
- 1:28Speaker 1: already made it clear I'm gonna come hard or would
- 1:31Speaker 1: you like to just keep this like civil and friendly?
- 1:34Speaker 1: Well the latter, I don't want to debate you, and
- 1:37Speaker 1: you're gonna come really hard and be strident, and I
- 1:39Speaker 1: got to push back to make this worth it. I mean,
- 1:41Speaker 1: I'm not in the mood.
- 1:43Speaker 5: People like that are asking for an argument.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, So did you bait him?
- 1:49Speaker 4: Or No, that's not the way it came off at all.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Take off your shirt, take off your shoe.
- 1:54Speaker 3: If you are describing something that didn't happen, but I
- 1:58Speaker 3: agree with you as you described it.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Undo your belt you put them up in your rastle.
- 2:04Speaker 4: I'd have lost that badly.
- 2:06Speaker 1: And today is Abe Lincoln's birthday. It's a perfect day
- 2:09Speaker 1: to mention settling an argument with wrastling.
- 2:12Speaker 3: I was going to reference that earlier as bitter disappointment
- 2:15Speaker 3: to me when I realized that I was born on
- 2:17Speaker 3: February the eleventh, and if my mom had only held
- 2:20Speaker 3: out one more day, I could have shared a birthday
- 2:22Speaker 3: with the great Abram.
- 2:24Speaker 1: Lincoln selfishness on her part because that would have been dead.
- 2:27Speaker 3: I'm with Jennifer Anniston and Burt Reynolds quite a difference,
- 2:32Speaker 3: and not Lincoln.
- 2:33Speaker 1: Michael, speaking of Witch, I did the I should have
- 2:36Speaker 1: mentioned this on the radio show. Did the Warner Brothers
- 2:41Speaker 1: studio tour in Los Angeles over the weekend and sat
- 2:45Speaker 1: on the Friend's couch at Central Perk and in front
- 2:47Speaker 1: of the fountain and tweeted out the pictures of it.
- 2:50Speaker 5: I was blown away by how many people didn't get
- 2:54Speaker 5: your tweet with your photo right.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Well yeah, yeah, well yeah. There are people from all
- 2:59Speaker 1: over the world on that tour that were there almost
- 3:03Speaker 1: entirely for the friends stuff. I mean people from all
- 3:07Speaker 1: kinds of different countries, didn't speak English. The only reason
- 3:09Speaker 1: they were there clearly was anything related to friends, because
- 3:12Speaker 1: they they did everything that was Friends related. They bought,
- 3:15Speaker 1: they took pictures next to they giggled about. It was
- 3:18Speaker 1: just the Friend's thing is a worldwide phenomenon, no doubt
- 3:21Speaker 1: about it. Yeah, my son was with me. It meant
- 3:23Speaker 1: nothing to him. He's never said an episode of Friends.
- 3:25Speaker 1: He didn't care. That's why all the stuff was they'd
- 3:27Speaker 1: mentioned all kinds of shows, and this is where we
- 3:29Speaker 1: shot the opening scene of Gilmour Girls and some people
- 3:32Speaker 1: go ooh, and I'd go, I don't even know what
- 3:33Speaker 1: that is, uh, but you know that's one of the
- 3:36Speaker 1: problem with that kind of a thing.
- 3:38Speaker 3: Yeah, there you are on the couch. That's a good
- 3:40Speaker 3: shot down and getting down.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Now exactly what that clap clop clap?
- 3:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I heard the song in my head and everybody's going,
- 3:47Speaker 5: what are you talking about?
- 3:49Speaker 1: Right, all right, right right. I wanted to jump in
- 3:51Speaker 1: the fountain and float around like Rossy. They told you
- 3:54Speaker 1: you couldn't do that. Don't get in the fountain, they said.
- 3:56Speaker 5: Crowned upon.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Bill to Us started this thing with even lefties agreed.
- 4:02Speaker 1: This is Bill Maher on Friday night. And on Friday
- 4:05Speaker 1: night on HBO, things were still fresh with the whole
- 4:08Speaker 1: Joe Biden's lost his marbles press conference that went awrye thing,
- 4:12Speaker 1: And here's Bill Maher. I haven't heard this.
- 4:14Speaker 6: Yet Biden's brain. Well, a bunch of things happened this week.
- 4:20Speaker 6: First of all, he's not doing the traditional for the
- 4:23Speaker 6: president to do the Super Bowl interview, and people are saying,
- 4:27Speaker 6: why can't even do the super Bowl interview. It's not
- 4:29Speaker 6: a toime. We're not asking him to go on Dancing
- 4:31Speaker 6: with the Stars, you know. Okay, Joe is not helping
- 4:41Speaker 6: his own cause. He in one week, first he mixed
- 4:44Speaker 6: up French President Macron with former president Metran, who died
- 4:50Speaker 6: in nineteen ninety six. Then he mixed up Angela Merkel,
- 4:54Speaker 6: the former chancellor of Germany, with the late Helmet Cole,
- 4:57Speaker 6: Chancellor of Germany. He said, this is all a big nothing.
- 5:01Speaker 6: I just want to watch the Super Bowl and enjoy
- 5:03Speaker 6: the halftime show with Toby Keith.
- 5:06Speaker 1: So that's pretty good.
- 5:11Speaker 3: You know.
- 5:12Speaker 1: He clearly is taking the angle I was taking last week,
- 5:16Speaker 1: because a lot of the pushback from the left was
- 5:18Speaker 1: Trump does that too. Okay, that is a good argument
- 5:22Speaker 1: if all we're discussing is should Trump or Biden be president.
- 5:26Speaker 1: But if we're discussing discussing who the current president is
- 5:29Speaker 1: and whether or not they're capable of having the job,
- 5:33Speaker 1: then your argument doesn't make any difference whatsoever. If your
- 5:35Speaker 1: argument is there are other people in the world that
- 5:37Speaker 1: are also senile, that does not help our current situation.
- 5:42Speaker 4: Nope.
- 5:43Speaker 1: More Bill Maher.
- 5:44Speaker 6: Joe Biden had a press comment it's kind of impromptu.
- 5:47Speaker 6: Press comment yesterday didn't start off well. He walked in
- 5:50Speaker 6: and said, why did I come in here again, and then,
- 5:59Speaker 6: in the ill of explaining that he's perfectly fine and
- 6:02Speaker 6: he doesn't mix things up, he mixed up who the
- 6:04Speaker 6: president of Egypt is, I'll see see and said he
- 6:06Speaker 6: was the president of Mexico. We knew he was old
- 6:13Speaker 6: when we elected him. All right, Joe, he's like that
- 6:18Speaker 6: goldfish you get at the fair. Don't get attached.
- 6:27Speaker 3: In his defense, I've been to Mexico and there are
- 6:30Speaker 3: pyramids in Mexico, so it's easy to get and.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Camels, lots of camels. I've climbed to the top of
- 6:36Speaker 1: the pyramids in Mexico. Uh, that's a camel. The crowd
- 6:42Speaker 1: cackling loudly at those jokes.
- 6:46Speaker 4: Yeah, I wonder.
- 6:49Speaker 3: I wonder if the people who are defending Biden are
- 6:55Speaker 3: they are akin to the Twitter left that runs way
- 6:57Speaker 3: too much. They're a very very small group with an
- 7:00Speaker 3: outsized voice. Because it's difficult to picture anybody seeing and
- 7:04Speaker 3: hearing the way he's been the last six months especially,
- 7:07Speaker 3: and saying anything other than wow, this is a problem.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Now. The pushback is uh, the Speaker of the House
- 7:16Speaker 1: set Iran when he meant Israel the other day. Okay again.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Listening watching mar for a long time, and usually you
- 7:25Speaker 3: know they're the groans of disapproval and come on, but.
- 7:29Speaker 4: No, everybody's just laughing. Yeah, he's a senile, old bastard,
- 7:32Speaker 4: isn't he.
- 7:34Speaker 1: So apparently they got into the conversation of if not Joe,
- 7:37Speaker 1: who and whether Gavin Newsom should be the choice.
- 7:39Speaker 7: I know Newsom. Yeah, we live here, right, we live
- 7:43Speaker 7: in California. In Oakland, they have Kaiser Hospital. The hospital
- 7:47Speaker 7: put out notice last week employees are not to leave
- 7:50Speaker 7: for lunch. It's too dangerous in downtown Oakland.
- 7:53Speaker 1: That's on him.
- 7:54Speaker 7: Are homeless problem. I don't want to hear that. The
- 7:56Speaker 7: homeless problem is intractable. You want to be CEO. It's
- 7:59Speaker 7: your problem.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Hear that?
- 8:00Speaker 4: Really?
- 8:02Speaker 7: I guess I know you like him, but I just say, oh,
- 8:05Speaker 7: I can't imagine him being having the gall to run
- 8:09Speaker 7: to releave this country when he's run this state into
- 8:12Speaker 7: the ground. When we just had Governor Brown, not that
- 8:14Speaker 7: long ago, Oakland was safe. Things were going on. It's
- 8:17Speaker 7: not good. He looks very shiny, but he's not a
- 8:22Speaker 7: straight shooter, and he's not willing to do the hard
- 8:24Speaker 7: things to make this state better, and that's his only job.
- 8:26Speaker 7: He doesn't realize that. He thinks it's to go sing
- 8:29Speaker 7: Kumbaya with a former Marvelette at New College of Florida
- 8:33Speaker 7: to make some vague points. Meanwhile, back in our state,
- 8:37Speaker 7: people are dying.
- 8:39Speaker 4: I got to read more Caitlin Flanagan. She's smart.
- 8:43Speaker 1: I do not know her, but she said there about
- 8:46Speaker 1: Governor Jerry Brown. Tends to lead me to believe that
- 8:49Speaker 1: she's not a Republican. So, man, that's interesting. So if
- 8:53Speaker 1: Gavin Newsom he's going to get that kind of flack
- 8:55Speaker 1: from Democrats in California. No way, no way he can
- 9:01Speaker 1: be the nominee. That would be a mistake.
- 9:04Speaker 3: No, it's too easy to hang him with his own record.
- 9:07Speaker 3: I think he's good at deflecting it, as we've discussed,
- 9:10Speaker 3: but it's just it's too much. It's just mountainous is
- 9:14Speaker 3: the effects of his governorship.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Man, if you take him off the table, who do
- 9:18Speaker 1: you get to though, That's the argument that a lot
- 9:20Speaker 1: of pundit's been saying. Look, you can talk about getting
- 9:23Speaker 1: rid of Joe Biden and replacing with who how would
- 9:26Speaker 1: that work? And it's almost got to be somebody that
- 9:28Speaker 1: everybody agrees on. Do you think if somebody tried to
- 9:31Speaker 1: make Gavin Newsom the nominee, that Kamala Harris isn't gonna
- 9:36Speaker 1: fight that or vice versa, that they're all just going
- 9:40Speaker 1: to fall in line behind somebody. Not a chance.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Well no, no, But at the same time with Gavy,
- 9:47Speaker 3: Gavy has crappy policies, but his brain works. Biden has
- 9:52Speaker 3: crappy policies and his brain doesn't work. So yeah, I
- 9:56Speaker 3: think Gavy would be an upgrade.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Right the process again, what's the process? There is no process.
- 10:03Speaker 4: He has to I was actually just reading about this.
- 10:05Speaker 3: It's a completely one hundred percent certain that, barring a
- 10:10Speaker 3: twenty invocation of the twenty fifth Amendment, Biden has to
- 10:13Speaker 3: willingly step aside.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Otherwise there's no way to do it.
- 10:17Speaker 1: And the only way we think that would happen is
- 10:19Speaker 1: if his wife came to him. He's not going to
- 10:20Speaker 1: come to that conclusion on his own. It would seem
- 10:22Speaker 1: based on Thursday's press conference.
- 10:24Speaker 3: Well, and if for some reason, I keep reading the
- 10:27Speaker 3: doctor Jill not a real doctor, thinks he should run again.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Wow, So she's out of her mind too.
- 10:36Speaker 4: That's easy apparently.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's evil. Yeah, this will lend so badly.
- 10:41Speaker 3: I mean, because he will crack up. There's little no doubt.
- 10:46Speaker 3: I still don't think he makes it through this term,
- 10:48Speaker 3: but so he will either have to resign next term
- 10:52Speaker 3: or there will be some horrific crack up where he
- 10:55Speaker 3: is forced to resign, and that's going to be his legacy.
- 10:58Speaker 3: The same guy who said, look, I'm just a bridge
- 11:00Speaker 3: to the future of the Democratic Party, now he wants
- 11:02Speaker 3: to be the future won't end Well.
- 11:06Speaker 1: Well, Katie, you use the word evil. I don't know
- 11:09Speaker 1: if that's the right word, but it's close to right.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I mean, if if my parents or spouse or whoever
- 11:14Speaker 1: in that situation mentally, and I'm pushing them out, yeah,
- 11:19Speaker 1: out onto the stage for mockery. That's exactly where my
- 11:23Speaker 1: brain went.
- 11:23Speaker 5: I pictured my dad and there's no way, there's no way,
- 11:27Speaker 5: with the way that he's presenting himself now that he
- 11:29Speaker 5: should be pushed to go any further.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not the kind, loving thing to do. I'm
- 11:36Speaker 1: gonna set you up for mockery, historic mockery.
- 11:40Speaker 3: It's an interesting discussion. At what point does negligence pass
- 11:46Speaker 3: like a well, a point where it becomes moral bankruptcy.
- 11:52Speaker 3: I mean it's not just oh I didn't think of that.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I mean, once you pass a certain level of negligence, you're.
- 12:00Speaker 4: Evil. As Katie put it, of.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Course easier said than done. To be perfectly fair, you
- 12:04Speaker 1: canna have that conversation with your dad, or I'm gonna
- 12:06Speaker 1: have this conversation with an imaginary spouse that would stay
- 12:08Speaker 1: with me who's old, And I'm gonna sit them down
- 12:12Speaker 1: and say, I know you want to be head of
- 12:15Speaker 1: the Rotary Club and do the big function, but you can't.
- 12:19Speaker 1: How that's not an easy conversation to have. You're gonna
- 12:24Speaker 1: embarrass yourself and people are gonna laugh at you. Oh yeah,
- 12:30Speaker 1: so right, Easier said than done.
- 12:32Speaker 3: Well yeah, but you gotta do it. I mean, being
- 12:36Speaker 3: laughed at at the Rotary Club is different than courting
- 12:39Speaker 3: nuclear holocaust.
- 12:41Speaker 1: You set up some elaborate scheme where they think they're
- 12:47Speaker 1: president and you walk them into various rooms and people
- 12:49Speaker 1: stand up and play hell to the chief and you
- 12:51Speaker 1: just you live out thisusse until they finally die of
- 12:54Speaker 1: old age.
- 12:55Speaker 3: You spent too much time on those sitcom sets. That's
- 13:00Speaker 3: a decent movie plot, though. Yeah, we've got to convince
- 13:05Speaker 3: him that he's still president. Shouldn't I be making a
- 13:09Speaker 3: campaign speech? Oh sir, we took care of that for you.
- 13:13Speaker 3: We have your surrogates all over the country.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I heard somebody talking about stepping down as president and
- 13:18Speaker 1: why he may have originally thought he was going to
- 13:21Speaker 1: be a one termer, but they said, you don't walk
- 13:26Speaker 1: out of a room or step off Marine one or
- 13:29Speaker 1: ever everywhere you go and there's some marine there saluting
- 13:34Speaker 1: you as you walk out the door or in the door,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and like, willingly give that up? I mean, it's it's
- 13:39Speaker 1: just the way it affects your brain and the way
- 13:43Speaker 1: you look at yourself in the world, And it's like
- 13:46Speaker 1: the most You're the king of the world thing that
- 13:50Speaker 1: could ever happen to anybody who walks away from that.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Guess Michael.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Plus, he's always telling those stories that makes him seem
- 13:56Speaker 3: tougher than he actually is.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got that whole thing right.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So finally he has somebody saluting them.
- 14:02Speaker 2: You know.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Plus, Michael, when you're president, you can call down to
- 14:05Speaker 3: the kitchen anytime and whip up whatever you're thinking of.
- 14:08Speaker 4: Am I wrong? That's the best part. Oh yeah, all
- 14:11Speaker 4: the ice creamy can eat.
- 14:14Speaker 1: I would have to go to the White House kitchen
- 14:18Speaker 1: and say, look, I'm telling you this, like at eleven
- 14:24Speaker 1: o'clock on a Tuesday morning. I'm gonna write it down.
- 14:27Speaker 1: I want you to sign it this and then get
- 14:28Speaker 1: a notary. Republic. When I order something at one am,
- 14:31Speaker 1: don't make it like tonight. I'm gonna call you and
- 14:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna say, look, I'm the president, dammit. I said
- 14:38Speaker 1: I want a chocolate peanut butter and milkshake. You get
- 14:40Speaker 1: it here at your job. I won't fire you. I
- 14:43Speaker 1: promise it's in writing right here. Anything I order between
- 14:46Speaker 1: the hours of like six pm and three am, ignore me.
- 14:52Speaker 1: That's what i'd have to do.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see the president again. You know those little
- 14:57Speaker 3: pigs and blankets with the little smokies. Yeah, I don't
- 15:04Speaker 3: know about a dozen of them. No, they get a
- 15:06Speaker 3: dozen and a half. I mean they keep right, yeah,
- 15:09Speaker 3: a dozen and a half. All right, thanks, here's what
- 15:11Speaker 3: here's what you do.
- 15:12Speaker 1: When I call in that order you say I'll have
- 15:13Speaker 1: it for you in ten minutes, I'll forget about it.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I'll fall asleep. Just don't make it.
- 15:19Speaker 3: This is a president again. Do you have any any
- 15:23Speaker 3: chocolate pudding in the fact? No, how long it would
- 15:28Speaker 3: it take to make? That's no, that's fine, that's great.
- 15:32Speaker 4: Thanks.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Do you keep do you keep liquoric around with red vines?
- 15:36Speaker 1: You got?
- 15:36Speaker 3: He does?
- 15:40Speaker 6: Eh?
- 15:41Speaker 2: Boy?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Oh great, now I'm craving pudding.
- 15:46Speaker 4: Well see yeah, press it again.
- 15:48Speaker 3: You know, so those fries I asked you for, what
- 15:52Speaker 3: are the chance is getting some gravy on those?
- 15:55Speaker 4: It's nice gravy fries.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Ten minutes of scien thanks, yeah, great?
- 16:01Speaker 1: Oh my god, Well I guess that's it. H
