- 0:01Speaker 1: Good morning, good morning, good morning, welcome, welcome, Welcome Indio.
- 0:04Speaker 1: Is time now for one on one with the pro
- 0:07Speaker 1: and from Truity Credit Union. We have Becky Gaily in
- 0:10Speaker 1: with this today. Is Becky. How are you doing this morning?
- 0:13Speaker 2: I'm doing good. It's cold outside though.
- 0:15Speaker 1: It sure is getting to be that Christmas nip in
- 0:18Speaker 1: the air and everything and Christmas and of course a
- 0:22Speaker 1: new year and everything going on. A lot of folks
- 0:25Speaker 1: are sitting on jas wonder with twenty twenty five is
- 0:27Speaker 1: gonna bring us right now? I just enjoy the Christmas
- 0:30Speaker 1: right Yeah?
- 0:31Speaker 2: Have you finished your Christmas shopping?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Why? Most certainly I did.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I haven't. I'm going to do that this weekend though.
- 0:38Speaker 1: There you go.
- 0:39Speaker 2: That's it. I have to buy from my in laws.
- 0:41Speaker 1: There you go.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It's hard.
- 0:43Speaker 1: It's hard, it truly is. But you know, with the
- 0:47Speaker 1: Truity Credit Union, you make savings so easy for people.
- 0:51Speaker 2: We try.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of how it got started with a
- 0:55Speaker 1: bunch of ladies yep, working downtown and Power Girl Power,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and they were looking for unique ways to save. And
- 1:05Speaker 1: this is kind of how it got.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Started, yep, by the girls.
- 1:08Speaker 1: There you go. Next thing, you know, shopping wasn't too
- 1:12Speaker 1: hard what to save a penny or two. And that's
- 1:15Speaker 1: a kind of the rule here in modern days. If
- 1:18Speaker 1: you can say more than you spend, you're doing pretty good.
- 1:22Speaker 1: But you have great ways to in great rates too
- 1:25Speaker 1: as far as making a saving pay for itself.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Yeah, savings rates are increasing, Mortgage rates are starting.
- 1:33Speaker 2: To decrease, which is a good thing. Yeah, I know.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And then the Fed's met this morning too, so they're
- 1:38Speaker 3: supposed to cut rates again. Hopefully we'll see, we'll see
- 1:42Speaker 3: what happens.
- 1:43Speaker 1: We'll see. Yeah, you never know. I know, it's always
- 1:46Speaker 1: a roll of the dice. So tell us what you
- 1:48Speaker 1: do at Trudy Credit Union.
- 1:50Speaker 2: So I am the mortgage development officer.
- 1:52Speaker 1: While you're watching this, So like a hawk.
- 1:55Speaker 3: I'm responsible for bringing in the mortgage production in the
- 1:58Speaker 3: Bartlesville area.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Now this means of course getting a home, buying property,
- 2:05Speaker 1: maybe even some commercial stuff as well.
- 2:07Speaker 2: Construction or if you're looking at buying land.
- 2:11Speaker 1: We got a lot of land around us, but it
- 2:15Speaker 1: was for a while there we had in the houses
- 2:17Speaker 1: just popping up out of the ground like crazy. And
- 2:19Speaker 1: I know that as soon as it starts getting spring
- 2:22Speaker 1: time with a little bit warmer, we'll have a few more.
- 2:25Speaker 1: But how do we go about the process If I'm
- 2:28Speaker 1: a person who's thinking about, you know, building, First of all,
- 2:32Speaker 1: you got to buy the land. Yeah, and then when
- 2:34Speaker 1: we see our banker, how do it take us kind
- 2:37Speaker 1: of through the steps? Generally does the work?
- 2:39Speaker 3: First step is to apply, So you just want to
- 2:41Speaker 3: make the phone call and then complete an application. And
- 2:45Speaker 3: once you do that, then I can see your whole picture.
- 2:48Speaker 3: You know, your credit score, your employment history, all of that,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and then we can talk about what you're qualified for,
- 2:55Speaker 3: how much, like what your purchase power is and all that.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Just talk about the whole steps of the process.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Wow, this is good. Are there programs that help maybe
- 3:06Speaker 1: first time buyers or veterans or things like that.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Yeah, So as a first time home buyer, you can
- 3:12Speaker 3: put as little as three percent down versus if you
- 3:16Speaker 3: already own own a home, minimum down payments five percent. Yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 3: veterans you can do one hundred percent financing. VA loans
- 3:25Speaker 3: are fantastic for our veterans.
- 3:27Speaker 2: They really are.
- 3:28Speaker 1: My goodness sakes, I'd say, And it's really not hard.
- 3:32Speaker 1: It just matter of making an appointment, asking a few questions,
- 3:36Speaker 1: getting that application taken care of and then going from there.
- 3:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. That a commy.
- 3:45Speaker 1: For some folks, that seems to be the hardest part.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I want a house. I want a house. Elog what
- 3:50Speaker 1: I do? Oh? What do I do?
- 3:51Speaker 3: Well?
- 3:51Speaker 1: I got to talk to somebody, old, guish, old, golly,
- 3:53Speaker 1: just do it. She's very nice and you got very
- 3:56Speaker 1: nice people around you too at Trudy Credit Union. We
- 4:00Speaker 1: really want to say.
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yes, yes, we want to help our community for sure.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And Trudy Credit Union, of course a great partner in
- 4:08Speaker 1: our community. Beautiful downtown facility. I love that building. The
- 4:13Speaker 1: INSIGHT's got the big mural in there.
- 4:15Speaker 2: I know, it's so pretty in there.
- 4:17Speaker 1: You get a little history lesson when you walk. Then
- 4:20Speaker 1: you want to see something kind of new and fancy.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We got the Nancy artwork down at the one on
- 4:24Speaker 1: the southwest of Washington Boulevard.
- 4:27Speaker 2: Yeah. Did you see that? The Dewey im open to.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Yes, I did, and that was quite a deal.
- 4:33Speaker 2: A couple of days ago. Yeah, we had the ribbon gun.
- 4:35Speaker 2: Santa was there.
- 4:36Speaker 1: Yeah, Santa was there and some hot beverages I understand
- 4:39Speaker 1: were being served and it was a good time for
- 4:42Speaker 1: a lot of folks.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, it's nice now.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But we're not confined to just Washington County.
- 4:47Speaker 3: No, we have branches in Kansas, the Lawrence, like Johnson County,
- 4:52Speaker 3: uh huh, yeah, and then Houston. We have a couple
- 4:55Speaker 3: of branches down there in Houston. Yeah, we're trying to
- 4:58Speaker 3: grow well.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You're doing very well, and you take care of of
- 5:03Speaker 1: home base, and that's really good. Where our home base
- 5:05Speaker 1: will be, whether it is Bartlesville or like you said,
- 5:08Speaker 1: in Kansas or down in Houston. You're such a part
- 5:11Speaker 1: of the community here with the Trudy Credit Union virtually
- 5:15Speaker 1: everywhere going and I know, I tell everybody that comes
- 5:17Speaker 1: in here, didn't I just see you at a ball game?
- 5:20Speaker 1: Did I just see you at the kids play? Didn't
- 5:22Speaker 1: they just see you at the you know one of
- 5:25Speaker 1: the nonprofit to get togethers downtown and community involvement is very,
- 5:31Speaker 1: very big with your philosophy.
- 5:34Speaker 3: I know, it's so important for us as employees to
- 5:38Speaker 3: stay involved, be involved in the community. That's where we
- 5:43Speaker 3: work and play.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Indeed, and it feels good when you're doing business with
- 5:48Speaker 1: friends and neighbors because you know the trust is already there.
- 5:52Speaker 3: I know when you build the relationships, you build trust,
- 5:55Speaker 3: and it just makes everything easier when you want to
- 5:58Speaker 3: buy a car, or buy a high alcer, build a home.
- 6:02Speaker 1: It. Vicky Gaily is with us here and she is
- 6:05Speaker 1: with the Truity Credit Union right here in Bartlesville in
- 6:10Speaker 1: all over these days. But the thing with a credit union,
- 6:15Speaker 1: it's not you do many of the functions of a bank,
- 6:20Speaker 1: but you're not a bank. And there's a big key reason.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Who owns it?
- 6:25Speaker 2: We do you do.
- 6:27Speaker 1: People who invest with your savings or they're checking accounts.
- 6:32Speaker 1: If you remember the credit union, you're an owner.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Yep.
- 6:35Speaker 3: When you remember you own it. You own a piece
- 6:38Speaker 3: of the credit union.
- 6:39Speaker 1: That's just amazing. Yeah, and with that you don't have
- 6:43Speaker 1: to worry about the bottom line in New York. Yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: shareholders worldwide.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why we're able to offer competitive rates and.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Higher savings rates, you know, because we own it, not
- 6:58Speaker 2: any shareholders.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I think you are the boss here. You're in a
- 7:03Speaker 1: little bit more control over then you think. One thing
- 7:06Speaker 1: that I really get a kick out is the fact
- 7:08Speaker 1: that when you go out into the community, you go
- 7:11Speaker 1: out in the schools. Truity just made a nice investment
- 7:17Speaker 1: in our Bartlesville Public Schools Foundation on Monday, and thank you.
- 7:22Speaker 1: I'm sure a lot of parents are very thankful for
- 7:25Speaker 1: that because that goes a long way. But also with
- 7:27Speaker 1: your debit cards, it's not just one school. You got
- 7:30Speaker 1: several schools that benefit from the use of truity like
- 7:33Speaker 1: school spirit I guess.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Yea cards, spirit cards or whatever.
- 7:37Speaker 3: Yeah, uh huh, yeah, we've got one for Dewey and Bartlesville.
- 7:41Speaker 2: One's coming out. I don't know if it's come out.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Or if it's fixed to for Pahusca. So yeah, all
- 7:48Speaker 3: kinds of things that we do for our community.
- 7:50Speaker 1: It's the little things that add up. Yeah, it really is,
- 7:53Speaker 1: you know, like I said, community involvement and then you know,
- 7:57Speaker 1: ways to help raise funds for our our schools. You're
- 8:01Speaker 1: very invested in our community and that's really that goes
- 8:04Speaker 1: a long way with people.
- 8:05Speaker 2: See us everywhere home oh yeah yeah.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Now with homes and everything getting back into the mortgage game,
- 8:16Speaker 1: there are folks who have been kind of hesitant to
- 8:19Speaker 1: young people. I don't know why this is, but they said, well,
- 8:22Speaker 1: I'm going to wait till I'm thirty or thirty five
- 8:24Speaker 1: to buy a home. These days, you're going to have
- 8:26Speaker 1: to have a place to live sometime. And if you're
- 8:29Speaker 1: thinking about putting down roots. It doesn't hurt to buy dirt.
- 8:32Speaker 1: If that somebody said.
- 8:33Speaker 2: What I said, well said, yes, get on that.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Dirt you can. You got a good foundation to build
- 8:39Speaker 1: a home.
- 8:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I know.
- 8:41Speaker 3: It's not as scary as what people make it out
- 8:45Speaker 3: to be buying a home. I mean, there's a lot
- 8:46Speaker 3: that goes into it. But it's good to at least
- 8:50Speaker 3: start asking questions and to gain knowledge on what it
- 8:55Speaker 3: takes to buy a home because you know, but your
- 9:00Speaker 3: parents or your grandparents are saying that you need a
- 9:04Speaker 3: whole bunch of money to buy a home, and that's
- 9:06Speaker 3: not necessarily true.
- 9:08Speaker 1: So I remember as a young man, I was told
- 9:12Speaker 1: you've got to save twenty percent. Yeah I do, Well,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's gonna take a while, I know.
- 9:17Speaker 2: See I hear that all the time.
- 9:20Speaker 3: And you don't have to So it's just asking questions.
- 9:24Speaker 3: You don't don't need to be afraid to ask the questions.
- 9:28Speaker 1: No, I mean, it's all it is is a question.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Question is not going to hurt you. Sure is not
- 9:32Speaker 1: going to hurt you. You're going to know something and
- 9:34Speaker 1: picking up the phone or you know what. Some folks
- 9:38Speaker 1: actually feel better dialoguing on the chat boxes and things
- 9:42Speaker 1: like that with computers these days. I don't know why
- 9:44Speaker 1: that is. I'm a little bit beyond that, you know, generation,
- 9:48Speaker 1: But yeah, they feel more comfortable asking questions in form
- 9:54Speaker 1: of an email or a text or something like that.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Your website is built for that. It's kind of for
- 10:00Speaker 1: as easy as it is to navigate it, there's a
- 10:02Speaker 1: lot of complex things.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, there's so many ways to get in
- 10:06Speaker 3: touch with me or even ask questions. Yeah, you can
- 10:10Speaker 3: what it's called, like a chat box or something like
- 10:12Speaker 3: that on our website. You can just ask those questions
- 10:15Speaker 3: there and they'll eventually get to me.
- 10:17Speaker 2: Or you can email or text or call or come in.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I'd recommend you come in, folks, Yeah, because you know,
- 10:23Speaker 1: you're going to find out just how friendly the people
- 10:26Speaker 1: are at the Truity Credit Union. And you're also going
- 10:29Speaker 1: to get some scenery there with a beautiful mural there
- 10:33Speaker 1: and uh, and of course you're going to probably run
- 10:34Speaker 1: into just about everybody you know too.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Did you know that all the pictures in the credit
- 10:40Speaker 3: union were taken by local people in the community or
- 10:44Speaker 3: employees of Truity. It's all taken by somebody in Bartlesville
- 10:48Speaker 3: which I think it's pretty.
- 10:49Speaker 1: Cool, Becky Gaily, I did not know that now. You know,
- 10:53Speaker 1: you learn some every day, even when you're old like me,
- 10:56Speaker 1: you learn new things. This is really cool now. Other features.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We talked about debit card, We talked about home mortgage.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You even take people can take out a loan for
- 11:08Speaker 1: a car. Yeah, I know I did.
- 11:10Speaker 3: My son just did. He just bought his very first
- 11:13Speaker 3: car over the weekend. Yeah, all by himself.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Congratulation.
- 11:17Speaker 2: I know he's so big.
- 11:21Speaker 1: But I got to tell you it was no trouble.
- 11:23Speaker 1: That was the that was the easiest. That was the
- 11:26Speaker 1: easiest transaction I can remember. And uh, it was right
- 11:31Speaker 1: here in our hometown. And it wasn't like it was
- 11:36Speaker 1: a strain on my level of stress or anything. It
- 11:40Speaker 1: was either going to be yes or no. But when
- 11:41Speaker 1: I found out it was yes, it was and then yes.
- 11:44Speaker 1: And look, you get so much of a better rate.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:47Speaker 1: I find out with credit unions that you do, you're
- 11:51Speaker 1: right there in the think of the competition, and more
- 11:53Speaker 1: times than that, you do get a better rate with credit.
- 11:55Speaker 2: I know.
- 11:56Speaker 3: I heard that at the car dealerships that Trudy offers
- 12:00Speaker 3: the most competitive rate out of all the other lenders
- 12:03Speaker 3: that they work with, which was good to hear.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Yeah, because they're working with sometimes about a half dozen
- 12:08Speaker 1: or at a time, and some you know, not even local.
- 12:13Speaker 1: But but it's there for you to compare.
- 12:16Speaker 2: It's nice to know, yeah it is.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But it's also even better to know that it's right
- 12:20Speaker 1: here at home. Gosh that pays such dibidends. Now you
- 12:24Speaker 1: have checking accounts, you also have, you know, ways of
- 12:28Speaker 1: using different financial instruments in order to save money, invest money,
- 12:32Speaker 1: and do everything. And really all you have to do
- 12:35Speaker 1: is go to the website or just call Becky.
- 12:38Speaker 3: Yeah, our savings rates are actually pretty good right now,
- 12:42Speaker 3: the higher yield savings some and I think it's only
- 12:45Speaker 3: going to get better hopefully.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, we'll see how this goes. We'll see how
- 12:50Speaker 1: this goes. And once again, your money's right here, and
- 12:54Speaker 1: it's really something else. You have a kind of a
- 12:57Speaker 1: neat little teller system. It's a little different.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Yeah, the IM not ATM.
- 13:03Speaker 1: This is IM.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Why is the I Interactive teller machine. It pretty much
- 13:09Speaker 3: does everything that a teller can do. So you can
- 13:13Speaker 3: withdraw deposit, deposit cash, deposit checks, you can do it
- 13:18Speaker 3: all pretty much.
- 13:19Speaker 1: There My goodness, and you got a video a little
- 13:23Speaker 1: and it's a real life person on the other end. Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Sometimes, yeah, there can be a real life person and
- 13:28Speaker 3: it's nice. Like for my son, he works night, so
- 13:31Speaker 3: he can't get to the branch during regular business hours
- 13:35Speaker 3: and so it'd be nice for him.
- 13:38Speaker 1: So you can take care of all of your well
- 13:40Speaker 1: pretty much all everything.
- 13:42Speaker 2: Yeah, twenty four to seven.
- 13:45Speaker 1: First, what is it that you don't do well? It's
- 13:48Speaker 1: it's a small as because you do so so many
- 13:52Speaker 1: different white and very things. Anything you'd like to add
- 13:54Speaker 1: on to what we've already discussed as far as the
- 13:57Speaker 1: truity or in your services especially huh.
- 14:00Speaker 3: I was just going to talk about the Christmas lights
- 14:02Speaker 3: this weekend, is all I wanted to say.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Well, talk about the Christmas lights. We got plenty of it,
- 14:07Speaker 1: I know.
- 14:07Speaker 3: I was going to make sure that everybody knew about
- 14:09Speaker 3: the wool Rock Christmas lights.
- 14:11Speaker 2: Say, you could go to or fantasy Land this weekend.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Or Frank Phillips has their home open this weekend for Christmas.
- 14:19Speaker 3: So oh, Jarrett Farms has a sourdough bread class this
- 14:24Speaker 3: weekend if you want to learn how to make sourdough bread.
- 14:26Speaker 3: I thought that was pretty cool.
- 14:28Speaker 1: Oh, indeed his disease.
- 14:30Speaker 3: And I know I'm just in the mood too to
- 14:32Speaker 3: go look at Christmas lights.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Well, I think a lot of us are. Yeah, it's
- 14:36Speaker 1: been kind of stressful this year. I want to thank
- 14:38Speaker 1: you for being a part of our broadcast today and
- 14:41Speaker 1: want to wish you and everyone at True to Credit
- 14:43Speaker 1: Union very merry Christmas and a spectacular, I mean a
- 14:47Speaker 1: smoking spectacular twenty twenty five Merry Christmas. Christmas, thanks for
- 14:55Speaker 1: listening to one on one with a professional, A paid
- 14:57Speaker 1: presentation at fourteen hundred K one
