- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Looking at Exodus 12 to start off.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: And and and uh mentioning that this is uh what's called Palm Sunday, it's uh it it marks a very, very important week, of course, leading up to next um weekend when everybody celebrates the resurrection of Jesus.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Um it's gonna be fun today.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna try to cram in some information about the things leading up to uh the death of Jesus, uh when the Lamb of God was given and slain for the world.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: And uh so there's gonna be some information that'll be fun.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: If you don't know this, you'll like learning all these things.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Um, but but in all this thing, what we're remembering is what John the Baptist uh said when he uh first saw Jesus.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: In fact, leading up to that, remember, there he was baptizing in the Jordan River, and he had a big following.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: He was like the popular uh ministry of the day, and like all the popular ministers of the day, he was making the other spiritual leaders, the Pharisees, um, the big denomination of the day, um, jealous.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And so, you know, they went to him one time and they're like, Well, who are you?
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: How you know, you're out here doing all these things, you're out here baptizing.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: Uh, so who are you?
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Are you are you Elijah?
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Are you the Christ?
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Are you are you that prophet that but that was to come?
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: And he's just like, no, I'm I'm none of those.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: And he's like, they're they're like, well, then who are you?
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: If you're you're baptizing in water, so why are you doing this if you're not one of those important people?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: He said, Look, I'm just baptizing with water.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Come on.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: But there's one coming after me whose shoes I'm not worthy to touch, and he'll baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: In fact, look at the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, the Lamb of God.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: And that's what we look at this week.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: We're all leading up to this whole thing about the Lamb of God.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Now, understand this about the Lamb of God.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: I I've got friends and they tell me, oh, you know, Jesus wasn't really a sacrifice because, you know, God wasn't some bloodthirsty pagan God that needed to be appeased.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Well, look at it this way: Jesus was the end of sacrifice.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Jesus was the end of sacrifice.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: And we see, we see the lamb, we see the type of it of Jesus all through the Old Testament with the Lamb that was sacrificed without blemish.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: And Jesus is referred to that just countless times in the New Testament.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: You can't deny that.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: In fact, in the book of Revelation, wrapping the whole revelation of Jesus up, he's called the Lamb on like almost every single page.
- 2:32SPEAKER_00: Um but remember what the issue was.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: Remember that that man had become sensual.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: Choosing the knowledge of good and evil, man had become sensual, more sensual rather than spiritual, led by a sense knowledge.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: He was, he was, um, he lived with a sin consciousness.
- 2:52SPEAKER_00: And that's and that God got rid of that with Jesus because even with the now, all these things were given in ways that, you know, man in his fallen condition could never, could never, the Bible says that the natural man cannot receive the things of God.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: So God gave him all these, you know, all these laws through Moses, and then these sacrifice rituals for the breaking of all the laws, which they were all going to do.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: But the blood of bulls and goats, these sacrifices could never ever purge the consciences of the people.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: So they would just continually, year after year, decade after decade, century after century, they would continue to bring the blood of animals, and Hebrews says, and there's always a remembrance of sin, is all that that's doing.
- 3:42SPEAKER_00: Jesus came to do away with all the consciousness and remembrance of all sin.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Even if you sin today, that somehow by the power of the blood of the Lamb and the spirit that dwells in you because of what Jesus did, that you can live with a clear conscience, totally not condemned, even though you're flawed and imperfect.
- 4:06SPEAKER_00: And we're not, because we're not looking at you, we're beholding the Lamb of God.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: And remember when they would present the Lamb for inspection, and Jesus was presented for inspection, when they would present the lamb for inspection, they give it to the priest.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: The priest doesn't even care about you.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: It doesn't matter how good you've been all year, it doesn't matter how bad you've been all year, it doesn't matter what you did this morning.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: He's not examining you.
- 4:33SPEAKER_00: He's not asking you anything about that.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: What he does is examines the Lamb.
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 4:38SPEAKER_00: So the examination is never, with Jesus, it's never, ever, ever about us.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: How we measure up or how we don't measure up or where we are in this, what we're retaining.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: This whole thing today is about beholding the Lamb of God, having your gaze fixed on that which is beautiful and perfect, so you can live with power, you can live with love and joy and peace, you can live free from guilt and condemnation.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: You can live as a shining light for a world that needs it so bad.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Are y'all ready?
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I better put you on.
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: Exodus chapter 12.
- 5:10SPEAKER_00: So, what I want to do first is take the first half of this and and and and lay out for your information what what went on that week.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: So we look we look at Exodus here.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: And it establishes something that's important to us.
- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Um God told Moses, in Exodus chapter 12, verse 1.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, and he said, Now this month shall be your beginning of months.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: It shall be the first month of the year to use.
- 5:41SPEAKER_00: Verse 3, speak to all the congregation of Israel and say, On the tenth of this month, every man shall take for himself a lamb according to the house of his father, a lamb for his household.
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: Now, this is what was established in the very first Passover.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: He said, It's going to be, he says, tell him, on the tenth of this month, which happened to be the Hebrew month, Nisan.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Remember the cars, Nisan, you can remember that in real easy.
- 6:04SPEAKER_00: And it's and it's and it's known as the first month of the Hebrew uh year.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: It's Hebrew calendar.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: It's a funny thing, because Rosh Hashanah is in September, what we know is September, it's actually called the Jewish New Year, but anyway, the Bible and God established Nisan as the first month of the calendar.
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: So he says, So you'll take a lamb on the tenth.
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: I want to submit to you that when the Lamb of God came over 2,000 years ago, and he entered into Jerusalem, I want to show you that it was actually on the 10th of Nisan.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: That's when he made his appearance to Jerusalem, and that lamb was taken on the tenth, so to speak.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: You go down there to verse 6, and he says, Now you shall keep this lamb until the 14th day of the same month.
- 6:50SPEAKER_00: Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: So so on the 14th, four days later, this was this is the night of Passover.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: And we know that the day begins at sunset.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: And so Passover would begin.
- 7:07SPEAKER_00: For instance, if Jesus entered in uh on a Sunday, and and as a matter of fact, I can show you why I believe very, very strongly, very strong biblical evidence that it literally was on a Sunday when he entered into uh Jerusalem on the 10th of Nisan, and he was slain actually four days later on the Passover, which happened to be Thursday.
- 7:31SPEAKER_00: Now, right there, you know, we have this thing called Good Friday, right?
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: Didn't you ever wonder how to do that math?
- 7:37SPEAKER_00: How does the mathematics fit in?
- 7:39SPEAKER_00: If Jesus was killed on Friday and was already alive Sunday morning, how do you figure that three days?
- 7:45SPEAKER_00: And if you did, you somehow had to manipulate it in your mind and say, well, you know, he got a piece of that, and then there was one day, and maybe he got a piece of Sunday, so does that count as three?
- 7:55SPEAKER_00: You know, we uh and so literally I'll show you that just for your info that he was killed on a Thursday of that week, and uh and uh uh rose again on the first day of the week, three days.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Um we go to uh uh Leviticus now, chapter 23, and verse 5.
- 8:20SPEAKER_00: He says, On the 14th day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover.
- 8:27SPEAKER_00: And on the 15th day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to the Lord.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: So you see this, they take the lamb on the 10th.
- 8:35SPEAKER_00: They kill it four days later on the Passover.
- 8:37SPEAKER_00: So this is when they do the Passover, they kill the lamb, they roast the lamb, they eat the herbs and the bread with it, the unleavened bread and so on.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: They, if they whatever they don't eat of that lamb, they burn it all up.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: And then the next day, he says, the 15th begins a festival.
- 8:51SPEAKER_00: A festival, a feast of unleavened bread.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: He says, on the 15th day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread to the Lord.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Seven days you will eat unleavened bread.
- 9:01SPEAKER_00: On the first day of this feast, the 15th, you shall have a holy convocation.
- 9:06SPEAKER_00: It'll be a Sabbath.
- 9:07SPEAKER_00: You shall do no customary work in it.
- 9:11SPEAKER_00: So it didn't matter if it was actually the seventh day of the week, if it was a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, if it was on the fifteenth, that day was proclaimed as a special Sabbath.
- 9:22SPEAKER_00: The Jews would later call it a high Sabbath, a high day.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: Verse 8.
- 9:26SPEAKER_00: But you shall make an offering made by fire to the Lord for seven days.
- 9:29SPEAKER_00: The seventh day shall also be a holy convocation, and you shall do no customary work in it.
- 9:34SPEAKER_00: So the first and the and the last day of that week of feasting, the feast of unleavened bread, will also be Sabbaths.
- 9:45SPEAKER_00: And uh so you look at the week of Jesus as he comes into Jerusalem.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: Now, go with me to go with me to John chapter 11.
- 10:11SPEAKER_00: No, chapter 12.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: No, Jesus has in chapter 11, he has raised Lazarus from the dead in Bethany, where Lazarus, Mary, and Martha lived.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: John chapter 12, verse 1.
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: Then six days before the Passover.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: If I'm saying Passover is happened on a Thursday, he came in on a Sunday, the 10th, Monday, the 11th, Tuesday the 12th, Wednesday 13th.
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: Passover Thursday begins is 14th, Thursday.
- 10:43SPEAKER_00: Actually, begin what we know is Wednesday evening.
- 10:46SPEAKER_00: Um, this says six days before that, which would be a Thursday.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Excuse me.
- 10:53SPEAKER_00: Would be, yeah, it would be a Friday.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: Excuse me, six days, not seven days.
- 10:56SPEAKER_00: Six days would be a Friday.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: Let's say Friday before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus, who had been dead, whom he had raised from the dead, and they made him a supper.
- 11:05SPEAKER_00: And Martha served, but Lazarus was one of those who sat at the table.
- 11:09SPEAKER_00: Then Mary took the the pound of oil and she wiped his feet and did all that stuff and and and so on.
- 11:15SPEAKER_00: And down in verse 7, Jesus says, Leave her alone because she's kept this for the day of my burial.
- 11:20SPEAKER_00: This is where his burial was prepared, because we know it didn't get to be properly prepared after he died on the cross because of the Sabbath.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: He was in the earth three days.
- 11:29SPEAKER_00: It wasn't just one Sabbath, there was two Sabbaths.
- 11:32SPEAKER_00: There was a high Sabbath, and the j and that's very, very descriptive in the book of John, chapter 19, when Jesus was on the day when Pilate was trying him and he was killed that day after that trial, he said the next day was a high day.
- 11:48SPEAKER_00: It was a high Sabbath.
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: And uh and it was a day of preparation for that festival, the beginning of the of the uh uh feast of unleavened bread.
- 11:57SPEAKER_00: Um so so there was no preparation made to be able to be made Friday, which was a high Sabbath.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: There was no preparation to be made, which is a weekly Sabbath on Saturday, and so that's why they didn't show up until Sunday after he'd been on the ground for three days.
- 12:11SPEAKER_00: Not one day, two days or two days.
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: Um so he's in there six days.
- 12:16SPEAKER_00: Now, when you go to when you read on, then it jumps to where he um he's he's he's coming into he's coming into the into Jerusalem.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: Well, now think of this.
- 12:33SPEAKER_00: On the Sabbath, if he comes in on Friday, we know it was Friday because he didn't come in on Saturday because it because they're not going to travel on the Sabbath day.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: So he comes in on a Friday, stays the Sabbath, they prepare that dinner, and and if you read the details, and we don't have time, you will see that a lot of people came to, and it was like a big, a big feast, it was like a big party, because they heard that they had already heard about that Lazarus had been raised from the dead, so there were already a lot of people there.
- 13:01SPEAKER_00: People were coming from all around to see this man who had been dead and now who's alive.
- 13:05SPEAKER_00: And now that Jesus is there, there's more people coming.
- 13:08SPEAKER_00: And so so when you really read the account and put it together chronologically, it's really amazing.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: You get the picture really well, because then when he goes towards Jerusalem, he's already got a parade with him that he's taking from Bethany, besides those that hear that he's coming, and they're coming out to meet him from Jerusalem.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: There are people, uh, one gospel says, in front of him and behind him, they were coming, and they were shouting, Hosanna, Hosanna, which means Lord, save us.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: Come save us.
- 13:36SPEAKER_00: Lord, save us, save us.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: They said, Hosanna to the king, the son of David, and and so on.
- 13:42SPEAKER_00: Now, what they're doing here is quoting something from Psalms 118, which is a halal that is actually, that is actually chanted by the priest when the high priest is examining and preparing the lamb that is offered for the nation of Israel.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: People would offer their individual, but then there would be the high priest would offer one for the nation of Israel.
- 14:07SPEAKER_00: And while he was pre- examining and preparing that lamb, the priest would be chanting the halals, which is Psalms 113 through through Psalms 118, finishing up with Hosanna, Hosanna, come save us.
- 14:20SPEAKER_00: Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: Then the next verse says, Bind the sacrifice to the horns of the altar.
- 14:29SPEAKER_00: The lamb has been chosen this day.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: The people have received this lamb.
- 14:36SPEAKER_00: The Pharisees said, This is a riot.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: Make them shut up.
- 14:40SPEAKER_00: And he said, If they didn't say anything, the rocks would surely cry out.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: These words must be said.
- 14:46SPEAKER_00: In fact, he had to come riding in on a donkey, right?
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: Because Zechariah 9 9 said, Behold, your king, he comes riding in on a donkey.
- 14:55SPEAKER_00: I mean, everything is pointing to, I mean, it you don't even have to be, it doesn't look like anyway.
- 15:00SPEAKER_00: You have to be super spiritual as a Jew in these days to see that everything is pointing to this as him.
- 15:06SPEAKER_00: And they, and many, many, many saw it.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: They saw these these proofs of that.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: They saw that the fulfillment of scripture in this, but where they messed up was they didn't know what kind of a Messiah he would be.
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: They were still looking for a conquering king.
- 15:23SPEAKER_00: That's why he didn't come riding on a on a pretty horse, he came riding on a lowly donkey.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: Because he came to bring peace, not not not he didn't come to conquer, he came to bring peace.
- 15:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: So so we we we look at that.
- 15:38SPEAKER_00: Now, if you were to go to the book of Mark, chapter 11, this is where it gives a really good chronology that goes on.
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: And what happens is, just you can go back and look at it, but for time's sake, I'll tell you what he does.
- 15:55SPEAKER_00: He comes in on Sunday.
- 15:58SPEAKER_00: The Bible says he he looks around, he goes to the temple and he looks around, but because it was late, he went on back to Bethany.
- 16:08SPEAKER_00: Now, he keeps going, he goes back to Bethany every day.
- 16:10SPEAKER_00: It's only about a mile and a half from Jerusalem.
- 16:13SPEAKER_00: So that's his base.
- 16:15SPEAKER_00: So he goes in and says, because the hour is late, they returned to Bethany.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: So they go back to Bethany, and then the next day he's going back to Jerusalem again, because every day he's making this little walk from Bethany to Germany.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: Uh Germany, Jerusalem.
- 16:28SPEAKER_00: And uh, and and so on, um he goes in, and uh on the way, while he's on the way to Jerusalem, he sees that fig tree with no figs, and he curses the fig tree, and they go on in.
- 16:43SPEAKER_00: When he goes into Jerusalem on Monday, that's when he clears out the temple.
- 16:47SPEAKER_00: He goes in there and he clears out the temple, and when you read it, not he didn't just go in and spend and do it all in a minute and then run out.
- 16:54SPEAKER_00: It says, neither would he allow, he stood guard that day in the temple and would not allow the buyers and the sellers to come in.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: He said, My father's house is a house of temple.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: And it would be, it was fulfilled where the prophet said in the Old Testament, they knew that it was the that it was the prophet, it was a fulfillment of prophecy that said, The glory for my father's house has eaten me up.
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: They ascribed that to him.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: And so he was there.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: Now, it's interesting that all these leaders, the chief priests and the scribes and the elders, are all right there.
- 17:26SPEAKER_00: None of them assisted him, and none of them resisted him.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: This was actually a part of the examination, the trial, a trying of the lamb.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: The reason that the lamb was chosen on the 10th of the month and then and then killed on the 14th, was because there was to be four days of examination.
- 17:44SPEAKER_00: Now think about think about the Passover when when he told him he says, he says, especially the first time, he says, go take a lamb on the 10th.
- 17:51SPEAKER_00: So on that day they go and they they all, every household he says, takes a lamb.
- 17:55SPEAKER_00: So they all take a lamb.
- 17:56SPEAKER_00: They've all got this lamb in their house now.
- 17:59SPEAKER_00: The kids are saying, Why is there a lamb running around in our house?
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: They're playing with the lamb.
- 18:04SPEAKER_00: For four days.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Then after four days, they kill the thing.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: And what's going on is the four days is the proving.
- 18:12SPEAKER_00: The four days is the sh is the is the is the examination time of being sure that the lamb is without flaw, fault, or any blemish.
- 18:22SPEAKER_00: So Jesus had the same symbolism here.
- 18:26SPEAKER_00: He had the same four-day period here.
- 18:28SPEAKER_00: There's a lot of little things in there that you see if you look at it.
- 18:30SPEAKER_00: I mean, it's just those of you that like to study this stuff, go and have a field day with this.
- 18:35SPEAKER_00: Not only was there four days, but there were there were trials, there were trials by the different groups of people.
- 18:42SPEAKER_00: I'll see if I can mention some of them here.
- 18:44SPEAKER_00: But so on Monday, he goes and he clears out the temple and he stands guard there.
- 18:49SPEAKER_00: Nobody assists him, nobody resists him.
- 18:52SPEAKER_00: He goes back to Bethany Monday night.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Tuesday morning, he's headed back to Jerusalem.
- 18:59SPEAKER_00: When they pass by, the fig tree is dead.
- 19:02SPEAKER_00: So he does all this teaching, that teaching, Mark 11, 23, 24, about have faith in God.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: This is on the way to Jerusalem on Tuesday.
- 19:09SPEAKER_00: He goes back into Jerusalem, and now the chief script, uh, the chief priests, the scribes, and the uh the elders, they've all approached Jesus, and they've got now they want to talk to him a day later.
- 19:20SPEAKER_00: Uh, remember what you did yesterday there?
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we got a question for you.
- 19:23SPEAKER_00: Who gave you the authority to do that?
- 19:28SPEAKER_00: Now remember, he's received, been received by the people as the as the Messiah.
- 19:33SPEAKER_00: He's the one.
- 19:34SPEAKER_00: Hosanna, save us.
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: They're wanting salvation, but they're wanting salvation from Rome.
- 19:41SPEAKER_00: And uh, but there's this big to-do about it.
- 19:46SPEAKER_00: In fact, they're already wanting to kill, especially after that, they're wanting to kill him, but they're afraid because too many people like him.
- 19:52SPEAKER_00: They like Jesus.
- 19:54SPEAKER_00: They all they believe that he's the one.
- 19:57SPEAKER_00: So they're afraid to kill him.
- 20:00SPEAKER_00: So they're making plans to have him killed, and you know, take him away in secret.
- 20:04SPEAKER_00: But but they're but they're they're examining him, they're testing him, they're they're questioning him.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: They say, Who gave you that authority?
- 20:08SPEAKER_00: And of course, he asks them a question that they're afraid to answer.
- 20:12SPEAKER_00: So he says, Well, if you don't answer me, I'm not answering you.
- 20:15SPEAKER_00: And then so then they go away, and it's real interesting.
- 20:18SPEAKER_00: Read it, Mark 11, Mark 12.
- 20:20SPEAKER_00: So then they go and they go, they go find some Pharisees and Herodians, and they send him.
- 20:24SPEAKER_00: They're done with Jesus, but they want to send these other guys who they think might do better.
- 20:28SPEAKER_00: So they go to him and they're asking him some questions, and and he and he confounds them too.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: And then what happens is the Sadducees come to him and they're asking him about the resurrection.
- 20:41SPEAKER_00: Okay, I got a theological question.
- 20:43SPEAKER_00: So if you say that there's a resurrection, and okay, what if somebody marries seven women?
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: Who's his wife when he gets to heaven?
- 20:49SPEAKER_00: And then he confounds them also, and then the fourth time uh uh a lawyer comes to him talking about the great commandment and and and so on.
- 20:58SPEAKER_00: In fact, in one of the gospels, uh, when the Sadducees came, he says, Why do you test me?
- 21:04SPEAKER_00: Look it up.
- 21:05SPEAKER_00: That word is uh Pyrrhos or Pyrdos or something, but it means to examine or to prove.
- 21:12SPEAKER_00: Why are you examining me?
- 21:13SPEAKER_00: It's almost like, it's almost like just your fact that you're examining me shows who I am.
- 21:23SPEAKER_00: On Wednesday night at twilight, Jesus tells the disciples, go f get there's a room in a guy's house.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Go tell him I'm coming and go start preparing things for the meal, for the Passover.
- 21:41SPEAKER_00: It's Wednesday now.
- 21:43SPEAKER_00: Um in fact, not much happens on Wednesday because then the next account you read in the book of Mark after after Tuesday, if he does all those things and he's examined by all these different groups, is it says, and then in two days was the Passover.
- 21:58SPEAKER_00: So So we're coming up to Wednesday evening, which is the beginning of Nisan the 14th.
- 22:06SPEAKER_00: And they prepare the Passover, and Jesus has that Passover with them.
- 22:11SPEAKER_00: He sits and eats the Passover with them.
- 22:13SPEAKER_00: We know that he makes a special thing about it.
- 22:17SPEAKER_00: And if you read all this in the book of John, what you will find that this night is pages and pages and pages of chapters of teaching that Jesus continues to go on and on.
- 22:29SPEAKER_00: This is in this is all of John 14, 15, 16, 17.
- 22:34SPEAKER_00: This is all happening on that night.
- 22:36SPEAKER_00: All these things that he's teaching them.
- 22:41SPEAKER_00: So in this Passover, then what does he do?
- 22:43SPEAKER_00: He takes the blood and the body, the bread and the wine.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: There again, we see the lamb that they would have to roast it and eat it.
- 22:53SPEAKER_00: And he says, This is my body, eat it.
- 22:57SPEAKER_00: There again, there's a one way saying, that lamb, that spotless lamb, I'm the one.
- 23:06SPEAKER_00: This is my body which is given, it's broken for you.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: And he takes a cup and he says, Now this blood is my blood, this wine is the blood in my covenant.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: Drink it.
- 23:18SPEAKER_00: And he said, and this will be the last time.
- 23:20SPEAKER_00: He said, I will.
- 23:21SPEAKER_00: He says, because the next time I do, it'll be in my kingdom, because what he's saying is, I'm going to die after this.
- 23:27SPEAKER_00: And he had been telling them about it, been telling them about his death and telling them what's going to happen.
- 23:33SPEAKER_00: And uh so, you know, he goes, they, they, they arrest him, they take him to Caiaphas, and Caiaphas tries him and all that, and they're they're wanting him to be be condemned and killed and crucified, so they take him to Pilate.
- 23:46SPEAKER_00: Pilate, when you read in John chapter 18, was the first place where he says, he's he's he's asking Jesus and he's trying to get Jesus to talk, and Jesus won't satisfy him, but Pilate doesn't believe that he's done anything wrong.
- 23:59SPEAKER_00: So he he says, so he you know he says, I don't even know what the truth is, and he comes out and he tells the people, he said, Listen, I find no fault in him.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: He goes back in.
- 24:11SPEAKER_00: If you read this, go to chapter 18 and 19, 19, three times, actually four times he'll say it, but three times very clear.
- 24:18SPEAKER_00: He comes back out two more times.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: Three times he specifically says, I find no fault in him.
- 24:25SPEAKER_00: He's being examined by Pilate.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: The fourth time he comes out after he said, Are you a king?
- 24:33SPEAKER_00: He says, You know, they calling you a king, and he's like, they're like, I don't see any reason that he, you know, he says, Shall I kill your king?
- 24:40SPEAKER_00: You know, and he's like, and they're like, yeah, crucify him.
- 24:42SPEAKER_00: He's going, Behold your king.
- 24:45SPEAKER_00: When the high priest, after he's examined that lamb, his declaration to the priests that are all around, when they're when they're offering the sacrifice for the lamb for the nation of Israel on that Passover day, his declaration is, Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of our nation.
- 25:06SPEAKER_00: Paul said, He takes away the sin of the world.
- 25:09SPEAKER_00: Pilate said, I find no fault in him, I find no fault in him, I find no fault in him.
- 25:13SPEAKER_00: And finally he says, Behold your king.
- 25:18SPEAKER_00: He's been examined, he's been examined, he's been examined.
- 25:24SPEAKER_00: And on the 14th, he's killed.
- 25:26SPEAKER_00: He's slain.
- 25:29SPEAKER_00: His blood is shed.
- 25:35SPEAKER_00: The only preparation he had for that burial because he goes because they take him down right before the high Sabbath begins.
- 25:44SPEAKER_00: And uh the only preparation he had was when Mary anointed him and he said, This is for my burial.
- 25:50SPEAKER_00: So he's in the ground three days.
- 25:52SPEAKER_00: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, High Sabbath, they can't prepare his body.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: Saturday, Sabbath, they can't prepare his body.
- 26:01SPEAKER_00: Sunday's the first chance now.
- 26:02SPEAKER_00: They finally get to come and bring the oil and spices.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: But on that third day, he was gone.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: What we see are these infallible things.
- 26:12SPEAKER_00: We see this beautiful picture.
- 26:13SPEAKER_00: Look how far God goes to say, the Lamb, worthy is the Lamb who was slain.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: Worthy is the Lamb who was slain.
- 26:27SPEAKER_00: For you have redeemed us out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, and you have made us kings and priests unto our God.
- 26:39SPEAKER_00: Jesus said when he offered the uh the the bread and the wine, the body and the blood.
- 26:48SPEAKER_00: What you want to do every time you do it is do it in remembrance of me.
- 26:51SPEAKER_00: We have things prepared for communion today.
- 26:54SPEAKER_00: And if we could uh get that ready, we want to take that together today.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: And the whole point of everything is this is that everything pointed to Jesus.
- 27:08SPEAKER_00: Everything says, behold the Lamb.
- 27:10SPEAKER_00: Hebrews 1 says, but we see Jesus crowned with glory and honor.
- 27:20SPEAKER_00: Religion, which is a type of a sense of spirituality, but it's mixed with sensuality, which is mixing in carnality, flesh things, things that are temporal.
- 27:36SPEAKER_00: Paul was very much that way, but then he writes later on in Romans, he says, you know what, with what we've got here, this thing, we don't look at the things that are temporal.
- 27:47SPEAKER_00: We're not led by the sensuality anymore of the fallen man.
- 27:52SPEAKER_00: We're led by the Spirit, for we are the sons of God.
- 27:57SPEAKER_00: For he who is carnal or sensual, temporal, puts his eyes on the things that are temporary.
- 28:08SPEAKER_00: You know what's temporary?
- 28:10SPEAKER_00: Everything that your five senses can tell you, because when we went after the knowledge of good and evil, we became sensual.
- 28:18SPEAKER_00: We started judging and discerning not by spirit but by senses.
- 28:24SPEAKER_00: What we see, what we taste, what we hear, what we feel, what we touch.
- 28:30SPEAKER_00: And that was given to us by God who made us out of the elements of this physical earth.
- 28:37SPEAKER_00: Give us these things so that we could navigate this physical realm with these physical things that turn to dust.
- 28:50SPEAKER_00: Physical things that all they do is they take in information, physical sensory information.
- 28:58SPEAKER_00: And your brain makes some kind of interpretation of what they're giving it.
- 29:02SPEAKER_00: It has nothing to do with spirit.
- 29:05SPEAKER_00: And man, since the fall in the Garden of Eden, has been living that way, and even when he's tried his best to be spiritual, he's taken in since knowledge, and he hasn't been able to purge his conscience of it, and he takes it all in, and that's why, that's why he even his religion becomes sin conscious, and it's what's it do?
- 29:25SPEAKER_00: Instead of beholding the lamb, it's behold you.
- 29:28SPEAKER_00: You get better, you try harder, you need revival, you need this, you need that, you need that.
- 29:36SPEAKER_00: When you behold the lamb, what does 2 Corinthians 3 clearly say?
- 29:41SPEAKER_00: When we behold, when when the heart turns to the Lord, behold the Lamb of God, we see the glory of God.
- 29:50SPEAKER_00: And when we do, it's like looking in a mirror.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: Because that's when we see who we are.
- 29:58SPEAKER_00: You can't tell who you are by your sensuality, by your senses.
- 30:02SPEAKER_00: You can't tell who you are by looking at what you have done and what have not done and what you're good at and what you're not good at and what your flaws are and what your strengths are.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: That tells nothing about who you are.
- 30:14SPEAKER_00: That is simply something that physical things that will be eaten by worms if you go into the grave.
- 30:22SPEAKER_00: Turn to, they say turn to dust.
- 30:24SPEAKER_00: What it does is turn to worm poop, if I can say that.
- 30:28SPEAKER_00: And you and we have the spirit by the Son of God that tells us everything.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: So what we want to look at today, as we do this, we're looking at the Lamb who was given for the world.
- 30:53SPEAKER_00: The body, the blood that was shed.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: He said, as often as you do this, every time you do this, what did he say to do?
- 31:02SPEAKER_00: Remember me.
- 31:10SPEAKER_00: You know, don't be afraid of this thing.
- 31:12SPEAKER_00: You know, there's a verse there that says, talking about the Lord's Supper.
- 31:15SPEAKER_00: It says, let every man examine himself.
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: Huh?
- 31:19SPEAKER_00: And Bo we used to take that.
- 31:21SPEAKER_00: I mean, it would scare me.
- 31:23SPEAKER_00: Even as a born-again, blood-bought Christian, it would scare me because I thought, what if there's some sin that I haven't confessed or forgotten about or I'm doing?
- 31:34SPEAKER_00: And I take this and I'm eating and drinking damnation to myself.
- 31:38SPEAKER_00: So, I mean, there's a lot of people that just say, no, I'm not going to do it.
- 31:40SPEAKER_00: I mean, Christians.
- 31:41SPEAKER_00: He says, do it and remember me.
- 31:43SPEAKER_00: But they're remembering themselves.
- 31:46SPEAKER_00: And because they're not beholding the lamb that this is supposed to be the picture of, they're not even partaking of the glory of this thing and the symbolism of what it really is.
- 31:57SPEAKER_00: And they're neglecting the one thing they really need because they're looking at themselves when they can be looking at the Lamb this morning.
- 32:04SPEAKER_00: And when you look at the Lamb, you're not playing head games anymore.
- 32:07SPEAKER_00: You're knowing something.
- 32:08SPEAKER_00: When you look at the Lamb, I promise you, when you see him, you'll believe.
- 32:11SPEAKER_00: When I say look at the Lamb, behold the Lamb, I'm talking about just be aware that he's alive, that he's yours, that he is who he is, and he is the Lamb who was slain from the foundation of the world, and everything he did was more than enough for you.
- 32:26SPEAKER_00: There remains no more sacrifice for sin.
- 32:29SPEAKER_00: That was it.
- 32:31SPEAKER_00: Because of the Lamb, I will promise you, I will never, ever, ever be punished for any sin that I commit.
- 32:39SPEAKER_00: And I'll bet you I commit some.
- 32:45SPEAKER_00: But there's no condemnation in this lamb.
- 32:48SPEAKER_00: Now, if you're sensual, if you're looking at you, you'll feel guilty.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: You'll feel not good enough.
- 32:54SPEAKER_00: You'll feel you don't have faith.
- 32:57SPEAKER_00: You'll feel God's not pleased.
- 33:00SPEAKER_00: You'll feel you're doing better.
- 33:02SPEAKER_00: Well, people say, well, God loves us, but but He's, you know, He can't be pleased with something.
- 33:07SPEAKER_00: You don't know how it works in the kingdom of God.
- 33:10SPEAKER_00: Everything in the kingdom is about the Lamb.
- 33:12SPEAKER_00: He's given the, He was given the name above every name, even yours, even your flaws, even your faults, even your He was given a name above every name.
- 33:19SPEAKER_00: No wonder when He ascended on heart.
- 33:21SPEAKER_00: Let all the angels of God worship him.
- 33:27SPEAKER_00: Anytime we behold us, it will hurt.
- 33:32SPEAKER_00: It will condemn, it will damn us.
- 33:35SPEAKER_00: We've been given the freedom by this miraculous salvation, by this miraculous gift, that somebody as stupid and ugly and flawed as me can live free from any sense of guilt or inferiority.
- 33:51SPEAKER_00: Because of the lamb.
- 33:52SPEAKER_00: It took a while for me to see that, but I see it clear.
- 33:56SPEAKER_00: The accuser used to live right here.
- 33:59SPEAKER_00: After a while, I said, Behold the Lamb.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: No, look at you, Rick.
- 34:03SPEAKER_00: No.
- 34:04SPEAKER_00: Mr.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Accuser, behold the Lamb.
- 34:08SPEAKER_00: Well, you know you need to be holy.
- 34:11SPEAKER_00: Behold the Lamb.
- 34:12SPEAKER_00: For he is holy.
- 34:15SPEAKER_00: I am holy as he is holy.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: That's what he said.
- 34:19SPEAKER_00: Be.
- 34:20SPEAKER_00: Be holy.
- 34:24SPEAKER_00: Don't be condemned.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: Don't be guilty.
- 34:26SPEAKER_00: Don't be inferior.
- 34:28SPEAKER_00: Just be holy.
- 34:33SPEAKER_00: This is beautiful today, by the way.
- 34:35SPEAKER_00: Look at this.
- 34:37SPEAKER_00: I'm gonna take a picture of it.
- 34:40SPEAKER_00: But it's let's go ahead and come on up and let's let's take the body and the and the blood, the bread and the wine.
- 34:57SPEAKER_00: Just remember him.
- 34:58SPEAKER_00: When you're afraid, remember him.
- 35:02SPEAKER_00: When you go ahead and and take go ahead and take a piece of that bread for yourself.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: And take a cup for yourself.
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Whenever you're afraid, whenever you're whenever you've got a situation, a circumstance that looks like it's just too big, too hard, too bad, too awful, remember him.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: Behold the Lamb.
- 35:33SPEAKER_00: That's what I do.
- 35:34SPEAKER_00: That is the secret to my success.
- 35:37SPEAKER_00: Sometimes I get spooked.
- 35:40SPEAKER_00: Some things pop up in life, and I'm like, oh my God, this is the worst.
- 35:47SPEAKER_00: But I've done this enough to know, okay, it's time to behold the Lamb.
- 35:52SPEAKER_00: When I don't see a way out of my problem, I can behold the Lamb.
- 36:00SPEAKER_00: And I'm strong again.
- 36:01SPEAKER_00: In all of my weakness and all of my confusion, I'm strong.
- 36:06SPEAKER_00: I can look at the Lamb, and that's where I've got a feeling everything's going to be alright.
- 36:10SPEAKER_00: I can look at the Lamb and know that God is pleased.
- 36:16SPEAKER_00: No matter how weak and foolish I am.
- 36:20SPEAKER_00: I can behold the Lamb and I can see how, though it's too big to understand, how that God is beyond what we can know in our senses.
- 36:36SPEAKER_00: And his love is more than enough.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: And he can love someone like me without any conditions, without any requirements.
- 36:48SPEAKER_00: Today you can behold the Lamb.
- 36:50SPEAKER_00: So even though Paul said, examine yourselves, you know what he said?
- 36:54SPEAKER_00: He said, Examine yourselves to see whether you eat in a worthy manner.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: Because it, and what he was doing, here's why he was telling them that.
- 37:05SPEAKER_00: Read the whole thing.
- 37:06SPEAKER_00: This is what you always got to do with these verses.
- 37:08SPEAKER_00: Just read the whole thing.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: What they were doing in those days in that church is they were coming, they weren't doing it like communion like this.
- 37:17SPEAKER_00: They were coming like it was just a supper.
- 37:20SPEAKER_00: They weren't remembering Jesus.
- 37:22SPEAKER_00: They were just eating.
- 37:23SPEAKER_00: They were just having the bread and the wine.
- 37:26SPEAKER_00: They were just having dinners.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: It was fellowship dinners, is what it was.
- 37:31SPEAKER_00: But they weren't partaking of the power of what Jesus said, remember me.
- 37:36SPEAKER_00: That's why he says, you guys, when you come together to eat the Lord's Supper, he says, it's not just to come and eat and drink like that.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: He says, you've got houses to go to eat in.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: You can have supper at your house.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: When we come together, we're remembering him.
- 37:51SPEAKER_00: So he says, so for one thing, he says, when you come, eat in a worthy manner.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Not that you're worthy, but that he's worthy of being remembered, being looked at when we're taking this.
- 38:05SPEAKER_00: He said, this is why, because you don't, because you don't discern that it's the Lord's body.
- 38:10SPEAKER_00: It's just bread to you.
- 38:14SPEAKER_00: You realize what you're doing here, what we've got, you can be healed.
- 38:20SPEAKER_00: Because you're looking at the body that was broken for us, and in your senses, you've got doctors' reports, you've got feelings, you've got symptoms, you got pain.
- 38:29SPEAKER_00: And I know it wants to scream.
- 38:31SPEAKER_00: But in the midst of a scream, in the midst of a storm, you can remember him and behold the Lamb.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: For the Lamb is the healer.
- 38:42SPEAKER_00: Frankie would say today, you read those accounts when he's going towards Jerusalem before he stops in Bethany.
- 38:48SPEAKER_00: Read in the other account that week, and as he's going to Jerusalem, and all he's healing blind people.
- 38:58SPEAKER_00: He's all these conditions are healing.
- 39:02SPEAKER_00: He stops to take care, he stops to teach, he's doing all these things.
- 39:06SPEAKER_00: Not once when we behold the Lamb do we see anybody needing healing.
- 39:10SPEAKER_00: And he says, No, not today.
- 39:14SPEAKER_00: Jesus healed them all.
- 39:17SPEAKER_00: And when you behold the Lamb, you see a pure healer.
- 39:22SPEAKER_00: A life-giving healer.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: He's everything today, isn't he?
- 39:27SPEAKER_00: He sealed up the whole sum.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: He finished the whole thing.
- 39:32SPEAKER_00: No more lambs to kill, no more sacrifice by you, me, anything.
- 39:37SPEAKER_00: I don't care what sacrifice.
- 39:39SPEAKER_00: We don't do animal sacrifice.
- 39:40SPEAKER_00: What we do today is we do sacrifice of obedience, sacrifice of action.
- 39:45SPEAKER_00: I don't do any sacrifice of obedience anymore.
- 39:48SPEAKER_00: I love doing whatever God wants to do.
- 39:50SPEAKER_00: It's just fun.
- 39:54SPEAKER_00: But you can have the fun when you behold the lamb.
- 39:57SPEAKER_00: Y'all ready?
- 40:00SPEAKER_00: So we take the body, the bread.
- 40:03SPEAKER_00: Take and eat it, he said.
- 40:05SPEAKER_00: This is my body.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: He's the lamb.
- 40:08SPEAKER_00: They said, Eat that lamb.
- 40:11SPEAKER_00: Take my body and eat it.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: It was broken for you.
- 40:17SPEAKER_00: Notice, he said, it's the hard part about communion because then I want to talk about the blood while I got bread in my mouth.
- 40:26SPEAKER_00: But he says, notice it was given for you.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: It was broken for you, not for me.
- 40:33SPEAKER_00: What he did was not a selfish thing.
- 40:35SPEAKER_00: He didn't do something just because he wanted this, hated this, or didn't like that, but he loved you.
- 40:41SPEAKER_00: He says, I'm the Lamb.
- 40:44SPEAKER_00: In Hebrews 10, he says, the Father said, sacrifice and burnt offering he would not have.
- 40:55SPEAKER_00: But a body he prepared for Jesus.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: We take the cup.
- 41:01SPEAKER_00: Jesus said, Now drink it, because this is the blood of the new covenant.
- 41:05SPEAKER_00: This is the new covenant in my blood, which is shed for you.
- 41:11SPEAKER_00: Understand that covenant.
- 41:12SPEAKER_00: This is why when you behold the lamb, you see who you are, because in the covenant, two lives become one.
- 41:17SPEAKER_00: That's why he takes this even further than the Old Testament roasted lamb.
- 41:23SPEAKER_00: We take the blood in, if you will.
- 41:25SPEAKER_00: The life is in the blood.
- 41:28SPEAKER_00: In the covenant, a covenant is the most solemn, binding, close, near oath that anyone can take.
- 41:35SPEAKER_00: Jesus made this with himself for us.
- 41:38SPEAKER_00: And he says, now take it, because this blood was given for you.
- 41:41SPEAKER_00: This means that my life is your life, your life is my life.
- 41:45SPEAKER_00: When you behold the Lamb, you're seeing you.
- 41:48SPEAKER_00: Simba, when you remember me, you remember who you are.
- 41:53SPEAKER_00: When you forget him, which is become, when you look at the sensual, you have forgotten who you are.
- 42:02SPEAKER_00: So today, like Simba, we behold him.
- 42:08SPEAKER_00: And remember that as he is, so are we.
- 42:11SPEAKER_00: For today, we're one.
- 42:13SPEAKER_00: When I'm looking at the Lamb, I'm looking at myself.
- 42:16SPEAKER_00: Holy, blameless, all because of Jesus.
- 42:21SPEAKER_00: Let's take it.
- 42:24SPEAKER_00: And we give thanks right now.
- 42:27SPEAKER_00: That every one of us stand here holy, unblemished, undefiled, fleshly sensory weakness, but totally empowered by beholding the Lamb of God who has taken away the sin of the world.
- 42:43SPEAKER_00: Father, I give you praise and I thank you for this unspeakable gift and so great a salvation that we shall never neglect.
- 42:50SPEAKER_00: Today, right now, in this ordinance is that we remember the healer.
- 42:56SPEAKER_00: Let healing happen.
- 42:57SPEAKER_00: Let it strengthen and quicken mortal bodies today.
- 43:00SPEAKER_00: Let bones be made strong and hearts be made young.

- 43:57SPEAKER_00: You will outlast every little bump and every little little rising and falling of temporary situations.
