- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a Bramble Jam podcast. Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark and today Netflix review podcast. I'm Megan and
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:29Speaker 2: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:31Speaker 1: On today's episode, we are discussing Ripple episode seven, titled
- 0:36Speaker 1: The Gift, which is currently streaming on Netflix. If you're
- 0:41Speaker 1: a fan of this type of review and you're just
- 0:44Speaker 1: listening to us because of our rebel reviews, we invite
- 0:46Speaker 1: you to listen to our additional reviews of all things Hallmark.
- 0:50Speaker 1: You can always find our weekly schedule over on Instagram,
- 0:55Speaker 1: where we are Girls Gone Hallmark. Hey.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We have a Facebook group. It's mostly Hallmark centric, but
- 1:03Speaker 2: if you have found yourself like watching Ripple and you
- 1:05Speaker 2: are a Hallmark movie watcher as well, we invite you
- 1:08Speaker 2: to show come join us there. We are Girls Gone
- 1:11Speaker 2: Hallmark in Facebook groups. We also have a Patreon which
- 1:14Speaker 2: is no Hallmark at all. It's patreon dot com slash
- 1:19Speaker 2: Megan and Wendy. We dropped four episodes a month. It's loose,
- 1:23Speaker 2: it's chit chatty. We talk about pop culture, what we're
- 1:26Speaker 2: reading and watching. We talk about what's good in our
- 1:29Speaker 2: lives a little lifestyle, a little where we're at as
- 1:33Speaker 2: midlife women. We would love to have you over there.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Before we read the synopsis of this episode, we got
- 1:39Speaker 1: an email from Lisa with her feedback on Ripple, who,
- 1:43Speaker 1: by the way, also says she's watching because of us,
- 1:45Speaker 1: so we're welcome Netflix for our influencing. But she's talking
- 1:50Speaker 1: specifically about Claire's behavior in episode six, Claire going to
- 1:56Speaker 1: Chris and stepping in. She says, I wonder if the
- 2:00Speaker 1: writer knows a nurse. This is such on the nose
- 2:04Speaker 1: nurse behavior. We're all control freaks and we always know
- 2:07Speaker 1: the best way to solve a problem and the most
- 2:10Speaker 1: effective manipulation method. Claire realized how infatuated Nate was with Chris,
- 2:15Speaker 1: and she used Chris's feelings for Nate to make her
- 2:18Speaker 1: back off. I loved how when Chris pushed back, Claire
- 2:21Speaker 1: didn't get defensive. She remained calm, and she led Chris
- 2:24Speaker 1: to believe it was all for Nate's best interest. That
- 2:28Speaker 1: was total bs. She saw Chris's insecurities and took advantage
- 2:32Speaker 1: of them.
- 2:33Speaker 2: I would love for another nurse to weigh in, and
- 2:36Speaker 2: Lisa is a nurse herself, so I'm I'm just curious.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Like, yeah, is this classic nurse? Yeah?
- 2:43Speaker 2: So interesting, Yeah, so so interesting.
- 2:47Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks for that insight, Lisa. Before we get started,
- 2:50Speaker 1: apologies to the listeners if my voice sounds.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Crazy, I know you're like, I feel like you're fading fast.
- 2:56Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 2:57Speaker 2: We'll get through this and we'll call it a day.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Do you have a synopsis for this episode? I assure do.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Uh. Walter checks in on Chris as she settles into
- 3:07Speaker 2: her new apartment. Nate's friends and family rushed to his
- 3:10Speaker 2: side after an incident at the bar. Can we be
- 3:13Speaker 2: any more vague?
- 3:14Speaker 1: An incident at the bar? I know I was robbed?
- 3:18Speaker 1: No exactly exactly? Well, let's talk news and notes for
- 3:22Speaker 1: this episode. It is directed by Lisa Soper. She has
- 3:24Speaker 1: eight directing credits total and will also direct next episode,
- 3:28Speaker 1: the finale. Her pastwork includes shows like Riverdale and Pretty
- 3:32Speaker 1: Little Liar's Original Sin And for our Hallmark listeners, she's
- 3:36Speaker 1: also behind the upcoming True Justice movies True Justice two,
- 3:41Speaker 1: I for An Eye and True Justice three Lost Love?
- 3:46Speaker 1: Where are those? Hallmark? Do your question Mark believe the
- 3:51Speaker 1: unconfirmed rumors that Mysteries are relaunching on Hallmark plus Wendy.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I maybe I don't know. I don't know. Maybe I
- 4:05Speaker 2: don't honestly, I have I mean, everything surprises me these days,
- 4:09Speaker 2: so I who knows.
- 4:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I believe it. I think people are getting real upset.
- 4:14Speaker 1: If that's the case, I know, I nigs Gurger Lloin's Hallmark. Really.
- 4:21Speaker 2: This episode was written by Joni Lefkowitz. She previously wrote
- 4:27Speaker 2: episode three The twenty. Her resume also includes Chasing Life,
- 4:31Speaker 2: Jane the Virgin, and New Girl. She's currently a co
- 4:35Speaker 2: writer on a project in production called.
- 4:37Speaker 1: It Is What.
- 4:38Speaker 2: It is, a comedy about a group of friends in
- 4:40Speaker 2: their mid twenties realizing they can't actually be whatever they
- 4:45Speaker 2: want to be.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Hey, that sounds interesting.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I know. I was like, please be somewhere like I
- 4:52Speaker 2: can watch this.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it sounds great. Sold a Bill Alive
- 4:55Speaker 1: by your parents. You can be whatever you want to be.
- 5:00Speaker 1: A regular cast All returns this week. We also get
- 5:03Speaker 1: a few additional appearances, including Kelly Fanson as Aria's mom,
- 5:07Speaker 1: rose lyric Zocchi as a nurse Angela, Danny Waugh as
- 5:12Speaker 1: doctor Ross, and Sherry Miller as Nate's mom Millie. Let's
- 5:16Speaker 1: take a quick break and we will come right back
- 5:18Speaker 1: with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what's your first impression
- 5:31Speaker 1: of episode seven of Ripple?
- 5:34Speaker 2: This episode is apparently not SSR. I proof I was
- 5:39Speaker 2: not emotionally prepared for it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: CO signed.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Absolutely effin broken at the end of this episode.
- 5:51Speaker 1: My first impression is no, I will not tell you
- 5:53Speaker 1: what I liked about this episode. Alternate first impression. I
- 5:56Speaker 1: knew you a holes were going to do this to me.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I know, I know the Finn stuff, the Finn stuff,
- 6:03Speaker 2: right of course. Okay, can we get into what we
- 6:07Speaker 2: liked about it?
- 6:08Speaker 1: Yes. Over the weekend, you shared a post from Michelle Giannussa.
- 6:13Speaker 1: It's actually from last month, it's from December. It was
- 6:16Speaker 1: a photo of Frankie Faison and in your commentary you
- 6:21Speaker 1: were like, this man needs an Emmy nomination, which I
- 6:23Speaker 1: fully agree with. But what I wanted to discuss is
- 6:26Speaker 1: the caption of her post is Evergreen, and she says
- 6:31Speaker 1: it's challenging to cut through the daily rhetoric that attempts
- 6:33Speaker 1: to take up your heart and heart space. That noise
- 6:35Speaker 1: often buries the kind, steady, generous people out there doing
- 6:40Speaker 1: their best to make someone's day or even someone's life.
- 6:43Speaker 1: A little better. We created ripplel Toshina light on the
- 6:47Speaker 1: quiet acts of compassion happening all around us, to remind
- 6:51Speaker 1: us that hope is still real, carried by those who
- 6:54Speaker 1: choose to lead with humanity. We've talked a lot about
- 6:58Speaker 1: how this show could have ever meant for Hallmark, and
- 7:01Speaker 1: I think it's only that right there that is the
- 7:05Speaker 1: hallmark of it all, that feeling of hope. I remain
- 7:09Speaker 1: happy that the show didn't land on Hallmark. I don't
- 7:12Speaker 1: think it would have found its people there. But as
- 7:15Speaker 1: hard as this episode was to watch, that feeling of
- 7:19Speaker 1: goodness and hope does still come through in those small moments.
- 7:26Speaker 1: And I think the choice to use Frankie Faison's face
- 7:30Speaker 1: in this post is a wise one because Walter is
- 7:33Speaker 1: such the heart of this show. I know Nate as
- 7:36Speaker 1: Ian Harding is kind of the headliner of the show,
- 7:40Speaker 1: but Frankie Faison and his character are the soul of
- 7:44Speaker 1: it totally. In those moments, like just the note on
- 7:49Speaker 1: the fridge that he fixed Chris's fridge, You're expecting when
- 7:53Speaker 1: she walks up to it that it's dead. Like that's what, Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 1: that's what this episode is leading us to believe, like,
- 7:58Speaker 1: of course her refrigerator and his stupid new apartment doesn't work,
- 8:01Speaker 1: but no, Walter just came in and solved the problem.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Walter is just a calm balm over all of these people,
- 8:10Speaker 1: and I really love Frankie Beason and the character of
- 8:13Speaker 1: Walter in the show. I will say it again for
- 8:15Speaker 1: the seventh week in a row. I agree, He's totally
- 8:19Speaker 1: my favorite. I reshared that post last night after finishing
- 8:24Speaker 1: this episode because I just was so moved.
- 8:27Speaker 2: I've been moved by his performance as Walter the entire
- 8:31Speaker 2: season while watching this, but last night was something different,
- 8:34Speaker 2: and I'm like, ah, and it was so like you said,
- 8:39Speaker 2: it was so subtle, these like small acts of compassion
- 8:43Speaker 2: and humanity, and I just think that we are living
- 8:47Speaker 2: in a time where we need more of that exactly,
- 8:51Speaker 2: And so it just hit me in the freaking gut
- 8:54Speaker 2: last night.
- 8:56Speaker 1: Walter in big and small ways really in this episode.
- 9:00Speaker 1: I mean, there was that refrigerator moment, but I also
- 9:03Speaker 1: love when he steps up and offers to invest in
- 9:05Speaker 1: Nate's bar and he's like, I'm not being kind. He's like,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I believe in you and in this space, and he
- 9:12Speaker 1: comments about how important they've all become to each other
- 9:16Speaker 1: in a different conversation over a short period of time,
- 9:19Speaker 1: and he's the one who tells Chris that she absolutely
- 9:23Speaker 1: deserves to be there in the hospital. I just can't
- 9:26Speaker 1: say enough good things about Walter.
- 9:28Speaker 2: He's there for Ellis when they break up with Rebecca.
- 9:33Speaker 2: And there is a during that scene and I don't
- 9:38Speaker 2: know if you caught it, and I it's sitting with
- 9:40Speaker 2: me because I don't know what it meant, but like
- 9:43Speaker 2: they're sharing a glass of wine and like he's looking
- 9:46Speaker 2: around the bar and he's like and he's looking at
- 9:49Speaker 2: the other patrons in the bar, and they're like, oh,
- 9:51Speaker 2: you know, it's a quick glimpse of like seeing people
- 9:54Speaker 2: like enjoying themselves. And he goes hmm, And I.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Was like, what does that mean? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
- 9:59Speaker 1: know what you're talking about. And I didn't know what
- 10:00Speaker 1: it meant either, And then they cut to another scene
- 10:04Speaker 1: that is related to Walter, but that he doesn't know
- 10:07Speaker 1: anything about.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Right. Yeah, lots of ques, Yeah, lots of questions.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Lots of questions.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 10:16Speaker 1: On a lighter note, this episode had a couple of
- 10:18Speaker 1: great comedic lines back to Walter saying, Wow, you really
- 10:21Speaker 1: are a sucker to Chris about her rent and Aria
- 10:25Speaker 1: saying to Chris, we can't not be friends. I don't
- 10:27Speaker 1: like that many people, and I know you don't either. Great.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Yeah, the writing is top notch in the show, even
- 10:36Speaker 2: for like the dialogue.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I just I love it, love it, love it well.
- 10:40Speaker 1: And speaking of the writing, I did not want to
- 10:42Speaker 1: see Ellis's relationship come to an end because I did
- 10:44Speaker 1: not want to see Ellis get hurt. But I do
- 10:46Speaker 1: think that the way they wrapped up the Rebecca Ellis
- 10:49Speaker 1: Montana conundrum was well done. The moment where Ellis has
- 10:52Speaker 1: the realization that they can't leave, I loved that, But
- 10:57Speaker 1: there were a couple of things about this whole process.
- 10:59Speaker 1: When Elle says it feels like the only solution is
- 11:02Speaker 1: for one of them to lose was great insight. And
- 11:07Speaker 1: Rebecca is saying she needs Alice, and Ellis says, Rebecca
- 11:11Speaker 1: needs Ellis to let her go. That's what Rebecca really needs. Yeah,
- 11:15Speaker 1: and finally they have a really loving and tearful goodbye.
- 11:19Speaker 1: It's it's not a fight, it's it's not dramatic, it
- 11:23Speaker 1: just is life. And then it's nicely punctuated by the
- 11:27Speaker 1: winebar patron, like, yo, could I get some service over?
- 11:30Speaker 2: Oh my god, I laughed out loud and the way
- 11:33Speaker 2: like Ellis and Rebecca both looked at him like there's
- 11:36Speaker 2: tears coming down Ellis's face, and I'm like, this is
- 11:40Speaker 2: so funny.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And I think it's.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Supposed to be like this, like you know, like like
- 11:46Speaker 2: you said, like lighthearted, like it just was great. It
- 11:49Speaker 2: was so great.
- 11:50Speaker 1: Well, I think it's kind of almost a little bit
- 11:52Speaker 1: breaking the fourth wall where they're like, we're going to
- 11:55Speaker 1: acknowledge that you're doing this at work and this is
- 11:57Speaker 1: a little bit weird. So yes, you know, maybe give
- 12:01Speaker 1: back to your job.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah. I love that, loved it. There's a lot of things.
- 12:06Speaker 2: So Nate's fever dreams I thought were done so well.
- 12:13Speaker 2: I think we have talked about throughout this entire series
- 12:16Speaker 2: is like we need more information, we need more information,
- 12:19Speaker 2: we need more backstory, more context here, and then we
- 12:22Speaker 2: get a bunch of it regarding Nate through his fever
- 12:27Speaker 2: dreams he's having. I thought that was done so well.
- 12:31Speaker 2: You know, the dream he has with like his parents
- 12:34Speaker 2: in the bar and the money and the pressure gave
- 12:37Speaker 2: this story of like here's this dude who's like been
- 12:40Speaker 2: trying to do these things on his own, and his
- 12:43Speaker 2: parents are very involved, but they're also like not kind
- 12:46Speaker 2: about it, and you know, I feel like he was
- 12:49Speaker 2: just trying to be like his own man for so long.
- 12:53Speaker 2: It gave some great background on who Nate is.
- 12:59Speaker 1: I just kind of love the his parents are terrible
- 13:01Speaker 1: because there's a lot of good happening for Claire in
- 13:04Speaker 1: this episode that I'll talk about, but it absolves any
- 13:07Speaker 1: feeling I had of, Oh, it's kind of icky that
- 13:09Speaker 1: she sold that ring that Nate's mom gave her to
- 13:12Speaker 1: fund his medical treatment. I'm like, I don't I don't
- 13:14Speaker 1: care what she did with that ring. Like, these people
- 13:16Speaker 1: are awful. The mom is terrible.
- 13:18Speaker 2: They're both terrible, terrible. Yeah, the scenes between Claire and
- 13:24Speaker 2: Chris at the hospital are there. They're devastating, but they're
- 13:29Speaker 2: so good too, Like these two women may possibly love
- 13:32Speaker 2: the same man, right, and they're sharing this moment of grief,
- 13:38Speaker 2: and you know, Claire's going on and on about like
- 13:41Speaker 2: how do I tell Anna about her dad? And and
- 13:45Speaker 2: then we know as viewers Chris has just lost her dad.
- 13:50Speaker 2: And there's so much it's so layered there, it's deeply human.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I loved it so much. You're right, there is kind
- 13:59Speaker 2: of this redemption arc for Claire in this episode.
- 14:02Speaker 1: To me, m hm.
- 14:04Speaker 2: As much as like I hated how she manipulated Chris
- 14:08Speaker 2: in the last episode about Me, there was a nice
- 14:12Speaker 2: kind of understanding between the two of them, and this one.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the redemption happens largely in Nate's eyes,
- 14:19Speaker 1: and so I think that's why we as viewers are
- 14:21Speaker 1: able to come to accept it, because he has it
- 14:24Speaker 1: in this feverish state, but it feels very genuine where
- 14:27Speaker 1: he acknowledges everything she's done for him, everything she's been
- 14:31Speaker 1: to him. As much as the way it ended wasn't
- 14:35Speaker 1: what either of them would have wanted, he isn't letting
- 14:40Speaker 1: the things that she did, and I love how she's
- 14:42Speaker 1: like it kind of was because of me, Like she
- 14:44Speaker 1: acknowledges like, yeah, I did things that I weren't great
- 14:48Speaker 1: for our marriage. That's not what he's letting define them.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And when he lets that go, it's easier for me
- 14:54Speaker 1: as the viewer to let that go. And I can understand,
- 14:59Speaker 1: as much as I didn't like it because I'm team Chris,
- 15:01Speaker 1: where Claire was coming from. In sure pushing Chris away
- 15:05Speaker 1: from him, and that in this really hard moment she
- 15:09Speaker 1: lets Chris in really in the only way she's capable of.
- 15:14Speaker 2: I appreciate it. Yeah, well, let's talk about Finn. Oh
- 15:19Speaker 2: my god, this scene. This scene is done so well.
- 15:25Speaker 2: I felt like, as a viewer, like it was obvious
- 15:28Speaker 2: what was happening to me? Right, But as I'm watching
- 15:32Speaker 2: this and I'm taking notes as I watch, I have
- 15:34Speaker 2: to keep like pausing it and going oh no, and
- 15:37Speaker 2: then like rewind it and go oh no, oh no, no, no, no,
- 15:40Speaker 2: like and I know it's coming. I've known it's been
- 15:43Speaker 2: coming the last eight episodes.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I know. Look, my, did you see that? Moments are
- 15:48Speaker 1: the moments that I either said omg or no, yes.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And look the second that Finn starts narrating this episode
- 15:55Speaker 1: for me, I'm like, well, that's it. Yep, yep, something,
- 15:59Speaker 1: that's it. Like, you're right, the writing's been on the wall.
- 16:03Speaker 1: We knew Finn was introduced for a reason as much
- 16:06Speaker 1: as I just thought, surely they're not going to do that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: They're they're not going to do that to us, and
- 16:11Speaker 1: they did.
- 16:13Speaker 2: And then she says, gotcha last, Oh.
- 16:16Speaker 1: My, I'm sobbing.
- 16:19Speaker 2: I even right now, Like I have chills about it.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm like, they don't. You know, shows don't typically kill
- 16:25Speaker 2: off children. I know, and so this is what is
- 16:28Speaker 2: so heartbreaking about because you know, real life, it happens.
- 16:32Speaker 1: It was a hard watch. I appreciated the choice for
- 16:37Speaker 1: all of that to happen off camera, and to happen
- 16:40Speaker 1: kind of from Nate's perspective.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yes, yes, we didn't need to watch Finn die.
- 16:46Speaker 1: No, get sick. We didn't. We didn't. We're left with
- 16:49Speaker 1: the memories of her as Nate was, as.
- 16:52Speaker 2: She was, and then the reveal that Nate is excited
- 16:58Speaker 2: that he gets.
- 16:58Speaker 1: The clinical trial spot. This is such.
- 17:01Speaker 2: A heartbreaking, cruel, effective narrative that I loved. But like
- 17:07Speaker 2: when we see in a couple scenes later when the
- 17:11Speaker 2: nurse comes in to tell Nate that Finn has passed
- 17:13Speaker 2: and he has the realization that he got her spot.
- 17:18Speaker 2: He's inconsolable, And I was a mess watching that. I
- 17:23Speaker 2: thought he was. I thought Ian Harden was so good
- 17:25Speaker 2: in the scene.
- 17:27Speaker 1: Yeah, fantastic. He needs to physically get out of his
- 17:30Speaker 1: own body.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly exactly.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Would you like to talk wishes? Sure? So for me,
- 17:37Speaker 1: Aria's storyline does move forward in this episode obviously takes
- 17:41Speaker 1: an enormous leap forward, but she for me, has the
- 17:45Speaker 1: most loose ends. It has me concerned for her, but
- 17:49Speaker 1: it also has me It just leaves me and I
- 17:52Speaker 1: feel like I'm really in limbo with Aria's storyline, is
- 17:54Speaker 1: all I'm saying. I know we have one more episode
- 17:56Speaker 1: to go, but I just feel like we're maybe headed
- 17:59Speaker 1: for a crack shouldn't burn because they hinted it something
- 18:02Speaker 1: with her dad very early on in this season. We
- 18:06Speaker 1: know something's going on with John, we know Chris knows
- 18:11Speaker 1: about what's going on with John, and I feel like
- 18:15Speaker 1: her mom's change of heart perhaps came a little bit
- 18:19Speaker 1: too quickly because we saw in the beginning of this
- 18:23Speaker 1: season when Aria goes home, her mom was still making
- 18:26Speaker 1: snyde remarks about her choice of music paths. And so
- 18:31Speaker 1: there's just there's too much unknown, there's too much I
- 18:33Speaker 1: don't understands. There's too much I'm worried about for her.
- 18:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm wondering if if that will be the cliffhanger
- 18:42Speaker 2: that they'll leave this season on, because I'm like, are
- 18:47Speaker 2: they going to cover all of Aria in this last episode?
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I'm just trying to think of like the other storylines, Like, Okay,
- 18:55Speaker 2: Walter has all this he gets Brenda's a state and
- 18:58Speaker 2: has all this money, but he still hasn't He still
- 19:01Speaker 2: hasn't met Lisa Gay Hamilton yet, I.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Know, and Lisa Gay Hamilton has some connection to the
- 19:07Speaker 1: recipient of Brenda's hart.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Yes, exactly how they're going to do this all in
- 19:13Speaker 2: one I don't know. Yeah, That's one of my biggest
- 19:16Speaker 2: wishes is that I'm desperately hoping that episode eight does
- 19:19Speaker 2: not end on some kind of cruel cliffhanger. I don't
- 19:23Speaker 2: know if this show is going to be picked up
- 19:24Speaker 2: for another season. I don't know if there's could it
- 19:28Speaker 2: just be won and done? I don't know. I am
- 19:30Speaker 2: not going to be prepared if this is where it ends.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I know because look, I watch Emily in Paris. Don't
- 19:37Speaker 1: judge me. It's it's candy television. And at the end,
- 19:41Speaker 1: I finished the most recent season over the weekend, and
- 19:44Speaker 1: at the end they're like season six is coming, like
- 19:47Speaker 1: it's already been renewed. Like if we're renewing Emily in Paris,
- 19:49Speaker 1: which is highly watchable but trash, please renever reple.
- 19:53Speaker 2: I thought that I thought the season that was on
- 19:55Speaker 2: right now was the last season of Emily in Paris.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Well, at the end of unless it was a fevered
- 20:00Speaker 1: which is entirely possible, I could have sworn at the
- 20:02Speaker 1: end it said season six is coming. No, it ends
- 20:05Speaker 1: on a cliffhanger. Oh maybe maybe cliffhanger.
- 20:09Speaker 2: Ish gotcha. My other only wish is that I do
- 20:16Speaker 2: wish Nate's mother in particular, had been given a little
- 20:22Speaker 2: bit more grace. I know she's terrible, Okay, I know
- 20:26Speaker 2: she's terrible, but turning your mom away when you are
- 20:32Speaker 2: possibly dying, that's a lot like he does not want
- 20:37Speaker 2: her there. And as a parent, do you see where
- 20:43Speaker 2: I do i' met.
- 20:45Speaker 1: With this, you know? I What's interesting is I never
- 20:48Speaker 1: once came at that from the parent's perspective. I was
- 20:51Speaker 1: coming at it from Nate's. I think the issue here
- 20:54Speaker 1: maybe is that you can't imagine being as terrible a
- 20:57Speaker 1: parent as Nate's mom was. They're awful to him. I know,
- 21:02Speaker 1: I know, I know, and we only see those brief moments,
- 21:06Speaker 1: but they they didn't love Claire. They were so judgmental
- 21:10Speaker 1: of his lifestyle, Like they're supportive in a way, that
- 21:14Speaker 1: only serves their interests, that maybe she just hasn't earned
- 21:18Speaker 1: the right to be there, and if these are his
- 21:21Speaker 1: last moments, that's not who he wants to spend them with.
- 21:24Speaker 2: I know, but.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I hear you, But I don't think you have You're
- 21:30Speaker 1: not going to be that parent, So I don't think
- 21:32Speaker 1: you have that to worry about. Yeah, can I absolve
- 21:34Speaker 1: you of that? Sure? That's not going to be your path?
- 21:37Speaker 2: Okay, I hope.
- 21:38Speaker 1: God, let's talk. Did you see that?
- 21:43Speaker 2: I have two?
- 21:44Speaker 1: Okay?
- 21:46Speaker 2: Chris and Ariya are having coffee after they've reconciled, which
- 21:50Speaker 2: I just love so much, and we finally get a
- 21:52Speaker 2: little bit of the clarity on timeline here. I don't
- 21:55Speaker 2: know if you caught it.
- 21:56Speaker 1: Well, at one point they said it's been a month.
- 21:58Speaker 2: Well, Arias says to Chris, quote, you know where I
- 22:02Speaker 2: was a few months ago. I couldn't even leave the house.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Yes. And then when Walter and Chris are talking, Walter says,
- 22:10Speaker 1: you know, have you seen Nate And Chris says, it's
- 22:12Speaker 1: been about a month.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Oh, I missed that one. So okay, we have wide
- 22:18Speaker 2: gaps of time m hm.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Which but then later Walter says isn't it incredible how
- 22:24Speaker 1: close we've all become important, We've all become to each
- 22:26Speaker 1: other in the span of just a few months. So
- 22:30Speaker 1: the whole thing is like, I don't I guess the
- 22:34Speaker 1: show has taken place over a few months, which still
- 22:37Speaker 1: seems like a little bit too short a period of time,
- 22:39Speaker 1: mostly for Nate's treatment timeline. That's the one that makes
- 22:43Speaker 1: doesn't make as much sense to me. But gotcha, I
- 22:46Speaker 1: don't know, gotcha.
- 22:48Speaker 2: My other did you see that? Is Tara is reading
- 22:50Speaker 2: The Handmaid's Tale. Oh, I wondered if you thought this
- 22:55Speaker 2: was intentional?
- 22:56Speaker 1: I hope so I didn't notice, but I hope.
- 22:57Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm just like, oh, give me the backstory.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Me one of my digits that's just so ridiculous, but
- 23:06Speaker 1: also related to Tara and I know we are not
- 23:08Speaker 1: meant to know, but I do also need to know
- 23:10Speaker 1: what Tera believes is the correct way to hang a
- 23:12Speaker 1: toilet paper roll a Marciti House way in oh.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I would love to know the correct way is over
- 23:19Speaker 2: of course.
- 23:23Speaker 1: The only other thing I had in my digity that's
- 23:25Speaker 1: where a collection of moments that made me audibly react
- 23:29Speaker 1: out loud. The first was seeing Brenda's heart, knowing that
- 23:32Speaker 1: was obviously going to play into her future moment. Also
- 23:35Speaker 1: learning about Walter's inheritance, I said out loud, Oh, He's
- 23:38Speaker 1: gonna invest in the bar. Oh. I also thought maybe
- 23:41Speaker 1: he would invest in Chris's business, but I think the
- 23:44Speaker 1: bar makes the most sense. That's such a place of
- 23:47Speaker 1: home for Walter. Sure, the moment we see Walter, what
- 23:52Speaker 1: we assume is his future love interest in Lisa Gay
- 23:54Speaker 1: Hamilton have a connection in some way with Brenda's heart recipient.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Maybe that's a good friend of her son. They seem
- 24:00Speaker 1: to be of the same age. I don't know how
- 24:03Speaker 1: she knows him, but they seemed close. Of course, the
- 24:09Speaker 1: second Finn walks in in Nate's fever dream, my husband
- 24:13Speaker 1: was in the room and I was like, oh no,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and he was like, what are you? I was like,
- 24:17Speaker 1: just then we learn about the clinical trial opening that
- 24:20Speaker 1: confirmed it for me. When the doctor is telling Nate
- 24:23Speaker 1: and Ellis. I loved Ellis's reaction in that moment of
- 24:26Speaker 1: just kind of a grief relief moment where she just
- 24:31Speaker 1: kind of feels that where she's happy in a weird way.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And then when you see the nurse through the window
- 24:38Speaker 1: of Nate's door, all these moments like we know what
- 24:41Speaker 1: is coming. If you've been paying attention, I just said,
- 24:44Speaker 1: oh no, just over and over and over again.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that's such good TV.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:51Speaker 2: One more Megan, one more Man.
- 24:54Speaker 1: One more hydrate ahead of time, I guess. Although it can't.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Be worse than this episode, I think this has to
- 25:01Speaker 2: be like the epitome, right, like it's I'm hoping for
- 25:06Speaker 2: like hope and healing in the next one.
- 25:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope we get some positivity for these people.
- 25:13Speaker 1: We end on a hopeful note.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Yeah. Same.
