- 0:19Speaker 1: Now I think I think, I mean, it's hard to
- 0:20Speaker 1: say if you're over it, but but I think they
- 0:22Speaker 1: were much more relaxed and and uh really the energy
- 0:26Speaker 1: today was much better than last week. You know, you
- 0:28Speaker 1: saw it on the sideline. You saw it with the
- 0:30Speaker 1: with the guys, the demeanor, their play, all of that,
- 0:34Speaker 1: and it's things that we talked about during the week
- 0:35Speaker 1: and and you know, it's it's it's about how we respond,
- 0:39Speaker 1: and the guys responded extremely well today.
- 0:45Speaker 2: A good effort and a much needed win. We welcome
- 0:48Speaker 2: you into jags Am here on victory Monday from England.
- 0:51Speaker 2: We are at Hanbury Manor for our first jags Am
- 0:56Speaker 2: in London. You guys, and it's a good one.
- 0:58Speaker 3: I believe it's pronounced Hanbury Mana Hanbury Mana, and you're right,
- 1:03Speaker 3: it is a good one. You could feel the pressure
- 1:05Speaker 3: building for this team. It was internal, right, the questions
- 1:08Speaker 3: that were asked if coaches and players they got tired
- 1:11Speaker 3: of and they were ready. They were ready to put
- 1:15Speaker 3: that past them and the win means that they can
- 1:18Speaker 3: enjoy this week.
- 1:19Speaker 2: John, I don't know if we called it a must win,
- 1:21Speaker 2: but we felt like they needed to win right.
- 1:23Speaker 4: Well, it wasn't a must win in the standings, but
- 1:26Speaker 4: sort of that. It sure felt like this team needed confidence.
- 1:30Speaker 4: It needed, as Brian said, to get those questions out
- 1:32Speaker 4: of the way. I don't want to see him breathing easy, Brian,
- 1:36Speaker 4: because this is still it's two and two. But it
- 1:39Speaker 4: gets you back to even everybody in the AFC South
- 1:42Speaker 4: is too and two.
- 1:42Speaker 3: Well, when I say enjoy the week, you know it's
- 1:45Speaker 3: a much better week to prepare, especially for a Bills
- 1:49Speaker 3: team that's coming in and they're just walloping people. You
- 1:51Speaker 3: saw what they did yesterday. They've done that three weeks
- 1:53Speaker 3: in a row, and so you can prepare a little
- 1:56Speaker 3: looser because last week Trevor had said over and over
- 1:59Speaker 3: and over they need to play loose, they need to
- 2:01Speaker 3: play free. If they had lost on Sunday at Wembley,
- 2:04Speaker 3: they would have played so tight it would have just
- 2:06Speaker 3: made for an awful week of dealing with the media
- 2:10Speaker 3: and being away from home. This takes a little of
- 2:13Speaker 3: that pressure off and lets.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Them play free, and not for nothing. But we all
- 2:16Speaker 4: think we know everything about the NFL, right, Houston not
- 2:19Speaker 4: so bad?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Go figure it out, right. The Titans got beat by
- 2:23Speaker 3: Cleveland two weeks ago, two Sundays ago, twenty seventh three,
- 2:26Speaker 3: and yesterday they beat the Bengals twenty seven three. And
- 2:29Speaker 3: you just look throughout the NFL and who's good and
- 2:32Speaker 3: who is it? Well, I know who is These Bills
- 2:35Speaker 3: that are coming to London this week.
- 2:36Speaker 4: They're good and the way the early season has played out,
- 2:39Speaker 4: it couldn't be more appropriate that this division everybody's two
- 2:43Speaker 4: and two, because that's what it's felt like.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Guy, Absolutely, let's get to our big things this week,
- 2:47Speaker 2: because there were some big things. They finally got a win,
- 2:49Speaker 2: so we're talking here on victory Monday. That'll do. Is
- 2:52Speaker 2: our first big win. The offense had some issues. They
- 2:55Speaker 2: haven't quite figured it all the way out, but that
- 2:58Speaker 2: one beautiful drive where we saw them convert on the
- 3:01Speaker 2: fourth down and then get the touchdown throw to Calvin
- 3:03Speaker 2: Ridley was something we are hoping to see more of
- 3:06Speaker 2: going throughout the season. Christian Kirk talked about after the
- 3:09Speaker 2: game about why this is such a big win.
- 3:12Speaker 3: It's tough.
- 3:12Speaker 5: You know, winning in this league is tough, and especially
- 3:15Speaker 5: when you're losing, it's even harder.
- 3:17Speaker 3: So when you go.
- 3:18Speaker 5: To back to back to back losses, it weighs really heavy.
- 3:21Speaker 5: On you weighs heavy on the locker room, and so
- 3:24Speaker 5: you're just doing everything that you can to put together
- 3:26Speaker 5: a performance like we did today and just be able
- 3:28Speaker 5: to be able to get a win, and you know,
- 3:30Speaker 5: being able to come into the locker room and the sideline,
- 3:33Speaker 5: just the energy and seeing the smiles on everybody's face. It's,
- 3:36Speaker 5: you know, you never take this stuff for granted winning
- 3:38Speaker 5: in the NFL. So, like I said, just just great
- 3:41Speaker 5: for us to get this get this thing back on
- 3:43Speaker 5: track and get our confidence back.
- 3:47Speaker 3: Guys.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I talk to some of the players post game kind
- 3:49Speaker 2: of describing that touchdown throw that drive itself, but it
- 3:52Speaker 2: was kind of like a you could release the breath.
- 3:55Speaker 2: It's if everyone's holding their breath. And finally, I'm like,
- 3:57Speaker 2: it's just like it's just like a breath of fresh
- 3:59Speaker 2: air forever everybody and just to just to get that
- 4:02Speaker 2: monkey off Colvin's back kind of score and then let
- 4:04Speaker 2: everybody else play it free.
- 4:05Speaker 3: I thought that fourth down throw was the play of
- 4:08Speaker 3: the game. And I know you could talk about Josh
- 4:10Speaker 3: Allen's tripsack that ended it or the Calvin touchdown that
- 4:13Speaker 3: it set up, but it just felt like, Okay, they
- 4:16Speaker 3: were struggling a bit. They were one of three on
- 4:18Speaker 3: third down to that point. It felt like we were
- 4:20Speaker 3: watching the same offense. And then Doug said, go for
- 4:23Speaker 3: it at the thirty eight, which obviously is the right decision,
- 4:25Speaker 3: but not the field goal. Let's go for it. And
- 4:29Speaker 3: so instead of trying to hand it off, which hasn't
- 4:31Speaker 3: worked very well for this team, he put in the
- 4:33Speaker 3: hands of the quarterback and let him make the play
- 4:35Speaker 3: with his guy with Christian Kirk, and it was an
- 4:37Speaker 3: absolute laser. I thought that was the game defining play
- 4:41Speaker 3: because it said enough, we're gonna play like we play.
- 4:45Speaker 3: And of course they weren't perfect the rest of the way,
- 4:47Speaker 3: but they were much better. And you heard Doug say
- 4:49Speaker 3: that off the top.
- 4:50Speaker 4: Well, I'm with you. I thought it was a big play.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I thought overall the game. You know, it's hard to
- 4:56Speaker 4: say it was a great offensive every because they had
- 4:58Speaker 4: three hundred yards and they had one touchdown. But Doug
- 5:00Speaker 4: and the players talked, and I agree with him. There
- 5:03Speaker 4: were moments in the second half that were really important,
- 5:06Speaker 4: getting out of the shadow of their own end zone.
- 5:08Speaker 4: When you know, if you weren't aware of the score,
- 5:11Speaker 4: it felt like the Falcons had momentum for about twenty minutes,
- 5:14Speaker 4: and each time the Jaguars sort of had a heavy
- 5:16Speaker 4: lift to get out of it, and they went down
- 5:18Speaker 4: and got a field goal, the Ridley play. They had
- 5:20Speaker 4: big moments in the second half that didn't result in touchdowns,
- 5:24Speaker 4: but it does feel like something you can build toward,
- 5:27Speaker 4: and right now, that's what this team's looking for. They're
- 5:29Speaker 4: looking for things. Okay, this is what we did. Now
- 5:31Speaker 4: let's keep getting better and better and better. This is
- 5:33Speaker 4: sort of a building block motion, Kyle, that's what that
- 5:36Speaker 4: is right there.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I'm very impressed outside.
- 5:38Speaker 2: So now you're doing building block motions, very performative.
- 5:41Speaker 3: I'm impressed. I like that.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Let's go to our big thing number two, which is money. Money. Money.
- 5:46Speaker 2: Josh Allen is in a contract year and he sure
- 5:48Speaker 2: looks like he's playing for that money, but he's getting
- 5:51Speaker 2: help from his teammates as well. A lot of those
- 5:53Speaker 2: were coverage sacks, you know, kind of set up schemes
- 5:55Speaker 2: that way. But Josh talked a little bit postgame about
- 5:58Speaker 2: the importance of working with his teammate throughout the year.
- 6:02Speaker 6: It's definitely progression. I think we let him off the
- 6:05Speaker 6: hook a little bit beginning of that second half to
- 6:08Speaker 6: give him that touchdown. So there's still room for improvement
- 6:11Speaker 6: up front, and you know, especially with the whole defense
- 6:13Speaker 6: to not allow that to happen. But you know, as
- 6:16Speaker 6: a heck of way to fight, heck of guys to
- 6:18Speaker 6: make their plays when the number was called, and you know,
- 6:21Speaker 6: for my performance, man's I couldn't do a lot of
- 6:23Speaker 6: it without the guys in front of me. So you know,
- 6:25Speaker 6: I fully helped me push the pocket as well, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 6: to help me get that one. And then Trey Hernan
- 6:30Speaker 6: for the inside blitze quarterback, you know, rolled out right
- 6:33Speaker 6: into me in the second one. I told the DBS
- 6:35Speaker 6: just to give me a little bit more time, so
- 6:38Speaker 6: you know. So it's definitely a collection of everybody working together.
- 6:42Speaker 6: And but you know that process starts in practice, so
- 6:45Speaker 6: we continue to practice hard, continue to communicate. Good things
- 6:48Speaker 6: may come.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Past. Trojan isn't exactly where we wanted to be. But
- 6:53Speaker 2: you can't fault Josh for what he's been doing so
- 6:55Speaker 2: far this season. John, He's been really impressive in the
- 6:58Speaker 2: games where he hasn't been hurt.
- 6:59Speaker 3: I will say against Chiefs he was hurt.
- 7:00Speaker 4: But other than that, well, he's my hot take. So
- 7:02Speaker 4: I'm not gonna you know, it's really hot.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm boiling hot.
- 7:07Speaker 4: I'm not going to ruin it. But the defense, you know,
- 7:11Speaker 4: there were such expectations for this offense that fans now
- 7:14Speaker 4: look at it and every time the offense doesn't score,
- 7:17Speaker 4: I get emails saying this season's over. You know it's
- 7:20Speaker 4: all well right now. Credit the defense for keeping this
- 7:23Speaker 4: team afloat. This offense will get to where it's supposed
- 7:26Speaker 4: to go. I think there's too much to not believe that.
- 7:29Speaker 4: I still maintain that Josh Allen and in these defensive players,
- 7:33Speaker 4: they're giving you something to believe in for when that
- 7:36Speaker 4: offense gets hot. I think it still shapes up well. Brian,
- 7:38Speaker 4: and I am mister optimist as always.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Well, Josh was really good. And Trayvon Walker needs to
- 7:45Speaker 3: get credit for the play that he made on Desmond
- 7:47Speaker 3: Ridder on that final fourth down throw. Ridder saw Trayvon
- 7:51Speaker 3: bearing down on him and had to leave his feet
- 7:53Speaker 3: to throw the ball high. You know, even though you
- 7:55Speaker 3: had Drake London in the back of the end zone,
- 7:57Speaker 3: you know, six foot five, he had to go up
- 7:59Speaker 3: so high to get it. He had no chance to
- 8:01Speaker 3: put his legs down. That play was made by Trey
- 8:04Speaker 3: Herndon in the back, but it was also made up
- 8:05Speaker 3: front by tray Von Walker. I get it. You know
- 8:07Speaker 3: Walker is not performing, you know, sackwise like Aiden Hutchinson is.
- 8:12Speaker 3: And that's the comparison right now. But it wasn't just
- 8:14Speaker 3: Josh Allen upfront. Roy Robertson Harris was pushing the pocket.
- 8:18Speaker 3: You heard Josh mention fully fought Takasi. There's a lot
- 8:20Speaker 3: of reasons to believe in this team. We knew that
- 8:23Speaker 3: Foya Luacon was going to have a good game. We
- 8:24Speaker 3: kind of questioned what Chad Mumma might give and early
- 8:27Speaker 3: on he was left standing there watching as Jean Robinson
- 8:30Speaker 3: went by. But late in the game where there was
- 8:32Speaker 3: a wide open screen to Robinson, he got his hand
- 8:34Speaker 3: up and deflected the pass. I mean, there were a
- 8:35Speaker 3: lot of guys, a lot of guys that made plays.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yesterday on the defensive side of the ball.
- 8:40Speaker 3: I'll couch that a little bit.
- 8:41Speaker 2: The offense we saw good, but a lot of defense
- 8:43Speaker 2: yesterday in all different facts.
- 8:45Speaker 3: I thought that was what we were talking about.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Yes of course, we'll get to that later gone in
- 8:48Speaker 2: the show. Our final big thing, though, is going to
- 8:51Speaker 2: be former Falcons because, as you mentioned, Foya Luacon, but
- 8:54Speaker 2: also Calvin Ridley, as we mentioned, also played in Atlanta,
- 8:56Speaker 2: and boy was a big part of the defense and
- 8:59Speaker 2: just the way he controls the defense and the way
- 9:01Speaker 2: he communicates with everybody.
- 9:02Speaker 3: He had a huge play. I think it was in
- 9:05Speaker 3: early in the fourth quarter. They set up a screen
- 9:08Speaker 3: and it was Robinson and he had two blockers in
- 9:11Speaker 3: front of him, and he had room to go. I mean,
- 9:13Speaker 3: it was gonna flip the script and Foyer read it
- 9:17Speaker 3: perfectly and dropped him for a three yard loss. And
- 9:20Speaker 3: people might gloss over that play in the big scheme
- 9:22Speaker 3: of things, but that's set up second and long, which
- 9:26Speaker 3: the Jaguars then forced them to punt. So it was
- 9:28Speaker 3: a great play. It shouldn't be glossed over at all.
- 9:30Speaker 4: I thought it was a play that does get glossed
- 9:33Speaker 4: over and hidden like a lot of players do in
- 9:36Speaker 4: the NFL. The Falcons had momentum in a big way.
- 9:40Speaker 4: I think at that point they were driving to make
- 9:42Speaker 4: it a one possession game, but boy, it felt like
- 9:45Speaker 4: they were getting back into it to create the situation
- 9:48Speaker 4: where all of a sudden, the Falcons were in long yardage.
- 9:51Speaker 4: I do key plays. I did six of him yesterday.
- 9:55Speaker 4: That probably should have been one of him. It was
- 9:57Speaker 4: that big and he had a good game that you expect.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And this defense, I keep talking about it. I guess
- 10:05Speaker 4: Josh Allen's playing like a superstar right now because the
- 10:07Speaker 4: Saxon action. But overall, I said before the season, all
- 10:12Speaker 4: of a sudden you looked at it and there were
- 10:14Speaker 4: no weaknesses on this defense. There was no spot where
- 10:17Speaker 4: you said, ooh, this scares me a little. So far
- 10:21Speaker 4: through four games, with the exception of the Houston game,
- 10:23Speaker 4: it's played like that. You could probably if you're sitting
- 10:26Speaker 4: there making big plays, you could probably make a case
- 10:28Speaker 4: that all eleven starters had made at least one where
- 10:31Speaker 4: you went okay, that mattered. I don't think there's any
- 10:34Speaker 4: all pro guys on this defense. Maybe Josh Allen, but
- 10:36Speaker 4: there's a lot of really good players right now.
- 10:38Speaker 3: And you mentioned former Falcon Calvin Ridley. He had the
- 10:40Speaker 3: thirty yard touchdown, but as big was the pass interference.
- 10:45Speaker 3: He was open a lot and he was frustrated at
- 10:47Speaker 3: points yesterday because Trevor was not sending the ball down
- 10:50Speaker 3: the field. That particular play you could see Trevor just
- 10:54Speaker 3: wind up and let it go, knowing he was either
- 10:56Speaker 3: going to catch it he was gonna get the PI.
- 10:58Speaker 4: Yeah, the pass interference, even even beyond the thirty yard plays,
- 11:01Speaker 4: it looked like a miscommunication on the touchdown.
- 11:03Speaker 3: So, you know, great play.
- 11:05Speaker 4: I don't know that Calvin Ridley being Calvin really necessarily
- 11:09Speaker 4: created that.
- 11:09Speaker 3: That was a great play by Trevor Lawrence to shake
- 11:10Speaker 3: the defender off.
- 11:11Speaker 4: But the interference penalty is exactly why you went and
- 11:14Speaker 4: got Calvin Ridley because a big play in a big
- 11:16Speaker 4: moment that his ability created that interference and it was
- 11:20Speaker 4: the kind of play the big time players make. That
- 11:25Speaker 4: was another hidden play. It gave them a first down,
- 11:28Speaker 4: it went on to get a very important lead increasing
- 11:32Speaker 4: field goal. Again, he won't get credit in the stats,
- 11:36Speaker 4: but that's forty yards for Calvin Ridley.
- 11:38Speaker 2: All right, coming up, we're gonna go over the highlights
- 11:40Speaker 2: from yesterday. Right here on Jakes, I am move the freight.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Move the freight. Magellan Transport. Vote's coolest office space in Jacksonville.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Apply at Magellanlogistics dot com. We're in a pretty cool
- 12:17Speaker 2: office space for jags Am. We're at Henbury Mana. I'm
- 12:20Speaker 2: told to announce it like that by Brian Sexson in
- 12:24Speaker 2: the English countryside, and it is beautiful. And I didn't
- 12:26Speaker 2: know that I enjoyed press conferences in greenhouses as much
- 12:31Speaker 2: as I do until we had one last week at
- 12:33Speaker 2: our at the Grove, And now I believe we're going
- 12:36Speaker 2: to be doing that here as well. There's a lovely
- 12:37Speaker 2: greenhouse behind us, and that should be our new environment.
- 12:40Speaker 4: It's all greenhouse, no breaks.
- 12:43Speaker 3: This is the site of a sixteenth century manner. I
- 12:46Speaker 3: mean it goes us back a long way and it's
- 12:49Speaker 3: passed through some hands over time, and now Marriott uses
- 12:52Speaker 3: it as a as a resort property, but there's some
- 12:55Speaker 3: history here.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I think we're gonna get a little tour later. And
- 12:57Speaker 2: I think I like the greenhouse so much because it
- 12:58Speaker 2: feels like Jacksonville Weatherns because it's facing Hunt here and
- 13:01Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, it's like we're at home, so it
- 13:03Speaker 2: feels very homey. Let's go over some of the highlights
- 13:05Speaker 2: from yesterday because it was a good one. So let's
- 13:08Speaker 2: start out with that fourth down conversion. Brian, you talked
- 13:10Speaker 2: about that leading into Calvin and it was that drive
- 13:13Speaker 2: as a hole because it really felt like you know,
- 13:15Speaker 2: nothing was really going for either team at that point,
- 13:17Speaker 2: and it was tense, and then that kind of just
- 13:19Speaker 2: set up and it was like, Okay, now we can
- 13:21Speaker 2: move on from this touchdown guy.
- 13:22Speaker 3: It was a play that this team hadn't made the
- 13:24Speaker 3: last couple of weeks, right, I mean, they had tried
- 13:26Speaker 3: and there was no connection and there was no surprise
- 13:29Speaker 3: to me John that the target was Christian Kirk. And
- 13:31Speaker 3: Kirk talked about it. We heard him earlier say, you know,
- 13:34Speaker 3: settled at eight yards and he was right where the
- 13:36Speaker 3: quarterback knew he was going to be, and Trevor just
- 13:39Speaker 3: trusted it. We've heard the word trust a lot about
- 13:42Speaker 3: this football team, but we hadn't seen it. Yeah.
- 13:44Speaker 4: I thought there were a number of plays and I
- 13:47Speaker 4: really didn't get a chance to talk to Christian about
- 13:48Speaker 4: it later, but it felt like Trevor sort of went back, Okay,
- 13:53Speaker 4: we're struggling a little bit, we're not quite as consistent
- 13:55Speaker 4: as we want to be. I trust this guy. I
- 13:59Speaker 4: know where he's going to be on plays. And there
- 14:01Speaker 4: was some moments where on third and big if you will, Yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 4: he just said, you know, I've worked with this guy
- 14:06Speaker 4: along and anybody else in the field right now, Evan
- 14:08Speaker 4: Ingram Yep obviously, but that felt a little bit like
- 14:14Speaker 4: twenty twenty one. I mean, not twenty twenty two. I
- 14:16Speaker 4: mean didn't fel like twenty twenty one. Bright I do
- 14:18Speaker 4: ever feel that.
- 14:18Speaker 3: Again, that would not be good.
- 14:21Speaker 2: We talked a ton about the defense already, but I
- 14:23Speaker 2: don't know if we touched a ton on the turnovers,
- 14:25Speaker 2: the interceptions. Back to back we're huge, and that just
- 14:28Speaker 2: really set the tone after kind of that breath of
- 14:30Speaker 2: fresh air of the touchdown, and then the defense really
- 14:33Speaker 2: just kind of took over at that point. To see
- 14:35Speaker 2: Darius Williams and then also we gave and Andre Cisco
- 14:39Speaker 2: a little bit of something because you know, he didn't
- 14:40Speaker 2: return his pick six and then fumbled it a little bit.
- 14:42Speaker 2: Darius was saying the press conference. They talked to him
- 14:45Speaker 2: about ball security after that, but still, just to see
- 14:47Speaker 2: that back to back really kind of change the temple
- 14:49Speaker 2: going into half.
- 14:50Speaker 3: Well, it reminded me. I'm sure it did. You of
- 14:51Speaker 3: the the Jaguars went over the Bills here in twenty fifteen.
- 14:56Speaker 3: They had back to back plays just like that. One
- 14:58Speaker 3: was a pick six, one set up touchdown there. That's
- 15:01Speaker 3: when I felt like, Okay, they've got this one.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I did too, except in the second half I
- 15:07Speaker 4: kept thinking, this one feels like it's getting away.
- 15:09Speaker 3: But I'm with you.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Look, this is what the Jags defense is. We're twenty
- 15:14Speaker 4: one games, or twenty one regular season games into Mike
- 15:18Speaker 4: Caldwell's ten years coordinator. People and fans love to talk
- 15:22Speaker 4: about what the Jaguars defense Isn't We heard that all
- 15:24Speaker 4: off season. It's a turnover creating defense. It was fourth
- 15:28Speaker 4: in the NFL and creating takeaways last year. In three
- 15:32Speaker 4: of four games they've had three turnovers forced. I guess
- 15:36Speaker 4: it's time to stop thinking it's a fluke. I mean,
- 15:39Speaker 4: this defense forces turnovers, and when they do, they're good.
- 15:43Speaker 2: We talked John, you just said that third quarter kind
- 15:47Speaker 2: of when things were a little iffy there, that touchdown
- 15:49Speaker 2: where Ritter found London and the touchdown to kind of
- 15:51Speaker 2: start things off in the second half, and that's when
- 15:53Speaker 2: you were like, I think that's when I learned a
- 15:55Speaker 2: lot about the team. I'll say, is that response to
- 15:58Speaker 2: that right? Because we've seen things going off the rails
- 16:00Speaker 2: the last couple of weeks when things like that happened,
- 16:02Speaker 2: and the quick response to it whether No, it wasn't
- 16:05Speaker 2: a touchdown necessarily right away, but the field goals kind
- 16:07Speaker 2: of consistently holding the ball. That spoke a lot to
- 16:10Speaker 2: me in terms of how this team is mentally.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Now, Yeah, it's.
- 16:15Speaker 4: It's important to remember it's the NFL and Robinson's really good.
- 16:20Speaker 4: So he had a huge third quarter. I think it
- 16:22Speaker 4: was seventy four yards and the Jags fan in anything,
- 16:25Speaker 4: So why can't they stop that guy? Well, because he's
- 16:28Speaker 4: gonna be Rookie of the Year and he's he's probably
- 16:30Speaker 4: gonna be the best running back in the league for
- 16:31Speaker 4: four or five years. That's gonna happen. I thought the
- 16:34Speaker 4: mental toughness story of the game for the Jaguars was
- 16:37Speaker 4: in the second half, even when the offense didn't feel
- 16:42Speaker 4: like everybody expected it to feel, everybody's frustrated with it,
- 16:45Speaker 4: it had two big drives where they went down and
- 16:48Speaker 4: got points. I think Doug Peterson likes that this morning.
- 16:52Speaker 4: I think he likes that these guys even when it
- 16:54Speaker 4: wasn't going right and easy. It wasn't easy, but they
- 16:57Speaker 4: got it done. Something tells me that's going to be a bil.
- 17:00Speaker 3: We talked last week about mismatches, about guys who were
- 17:03Speaker 3: big and guys who were talented. Drake London had two catches.
- 17:07Speaker 3: One was that touchdown. Kyle Pitts, what fourth pick in
- 17:11Speaker 3: the draft had two catches for twenty one yards was
- 17:13Speaker 3: essentially a non factor. John new Smith had a bigger
- 17:15Speaker 3: day than he did obviously, and then b John Robinson
- 17:18Speaker 3: was a guy you know, you could take two of
- 17:20Speaker 3: the three away, but you weren't going to take all
- 17:22Speaker 3: three away. But the two that they took away helped
- 17:26Speaker 3: them keep the score low, right, I mean it worked
- 17:29Speaker 3: for them. It's a good job in covering those big receivers.
- 17:32Speaker 4: It's a league of big plays and big moments. Biggest
- 17:35Speaker 4: moment was the fourth down when the Falcons had a
- 17:38Speaker 4: chance to score and Trayvon Walker and Trey Hernon got
- 17:40Speaker 4: it done. I get the fans sort of being upset
- 17:46Speaker 4: that it didn't look easier yesterday, But what does it
- 17:49Speaker 4: look easy.
- 17:49Speaker 3: For this league?
- 17:50Speaker 4: How many times have we walked out of games where
- 17:53Speaker 4: the Jaguars lost that game?
- 17:56Speaker 3: They won it?
- 17:56Speaker 4: And I think that's important.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Why it's important, just win, that's the most import and part, Hey, look, Miami,
- 18:01Speaker 3: it looked easy two weeks ago, right, Seventy points yesterday
- 18:03Speaker 3: they gave up almost fifty. So it just it's inconsistent.
- 18:07Speaker 3: What's consistent is how hard it is to win in
- 18:09Speaker 3: this game.
- 18:10Speaker 2: And when you talk about the fourth down, that's a
- 18:11Speaker 2: little thing. That quote maybe overlooked. But if it went
- 18:14Speaker 2: the other way, John, we would be talking about it
- 18:16Speaker 2: for weeks because they didn't come through when they used to.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Well, if we'd gone the other way, it's all of
- 18:20Speaker 4: a sudden, a one score game. And you know, I'm
- 18:24Speaker 4: praising the offense for what it did in the second half,
- 18:27Speaker 4: but you make that a one score game with the
- 18:28Speaker 4: offense with the ball, and all of a sudden, those
- 18:30Speaker 4: first three downs in the next drive of that next
- 18:32Speaker 4: drive are deciding the game. So I thought, you know,
- 18:36Speaker 4: once that was incomplete, I went ahead and finished my
- 18:40Speaker 4: story for Jaguars dot Com. Before then, I was worried
- 18:43Speaker 4: about it.
- 18:44Speaker 2: That PI penalty for Calvin Ridley obviously had the touchdown
- 18:47Speaker 2: early in the first quarter, kind of helped himself get
- 18:49Speaker 2: mentally right with everything. And then he was out there,
- 18:51Speaker 2: as you mentioned, got a little frustrated because he didn't
- 18:53Speaker 2: get the ball as much as he would have liked,
- 18:54Speaker 2: but he was open.
- 18:56Speaker 3: He was open a lot, But Trevor was and we
- 18:58Speaker 3: talked about this last week. He was just looking at
- 19:01Speaker 3: who was open in front of him, right, and that
- 19:05Speaker 3: was gonna be seventeen and thirteen primarily. And there were
- 19:08Speaker 3: times where it looked like Calvin was open, but the
- 19:10Speaker 3: safety was over the top, and Trevor didn't want to
- 19:12Speaker 3: throw the ball and turn it over, so he kind
- 19:14Speaker 3: of just took what was there in front of him,
- 19:16Speaker 3: and I think it worked out. Okay, there's gonna be
- 19:18Speaker 3: days where Calvin Ridley's gonna have ten catches for one
- 19:20Speaker 3: hundred and thirty seven yards and two touchdowns. You know,
- 19:23Speaker 3: his former team wasn't about to allow that, certainly not.
- 19:27Speaker 4: I got many emails yesterday saying why didn't they take
- 19:31Speaker 4: more chances? Why didn't they go downfield? Wasn't even asked, Well,
- 19:35Speaker 4: when you're ahead of a bad team, why don't you
- 19:37Speaker 4: just take some chances? Well, you don't play in the
- 19:39Speaker 4: NFL that way. You try to win the game. I thought,
- 19:42Speaker 4: Trevor in the second half, avoid mistakes, don't give the
- 19:46Speaker 4: Falcons a way to get back in the game. I
- 19:49Speaker 4: thought it was it was a nice job overall of
- 19:51Speaker 4: them managing the situation and making sure they kept them
- 19:53Speaker 4: at arm's length.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Game already in hands. But Josh Allen stripsack at the end.
- 19:58Speaker 2: I mean that was just kind of the cherry on
- 19:59Speaker 2: top for them day.
- 20:00Speaker 3: For him, that was a great play. I mean, that
- 20:02Speaker 3: was a Derek Thomas type pass rush where he ducked
- 20:04Speaker 3: his shoulder and that is a really good I mean,
- 20:08Speaker 3: that's that's a Matthews playing left tackle. It's been a
- 20:10Speaker 3: long history of the Matthews family playing really well in
- 20:13Speaker 3: professional football. And he ducked underneath him and just kept
- 20:16Speaker 3: charging and got his hand out and got the ball.
- 20:18Speaker 3: That's what he's capable of doing. We just haven't seen enough. Finish.
- 20:23Speaker 3: That was a word that he used with us in
- 20:25Speaker 3: a production meeting in Detroit back in August. He said,
- 20:27Speaker 3: this year, I'm gonna get paid if I finish. He
- 20:30Speaker 3: finished yesterday, saving it for the hot take.
- 20:33Speaker 2: All right, he's on his way. Hot takes are up
- 20:36Speaker 2: next day with us here on jags am As. We'll
- 20:37Speaker 2: find out finally what John has a hot take on.
- 20:48Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 20:48Speaker 6: I've traveled a lot to London the past five years,
- 20:52Speaker 6: so for me personally, I've kind of know what to do.
- 20:56Speaker 6: I want to sleep, not to sleeve, you know, things
- 20:58Speaker 6: to eat, things not to eat. No, I need to
- 21:00Speaker 6: drink a lot of water on the flight. But for us, well,
- 21:05Speaker 6: it's his home for us. You know, when we come here,
- 21:07Speaker 6: we feel like it's a home game. We feel the excitement,
- 21:09Speaker 6: we feel our fans, we feel the energy in the stands,
- 21:12Speaker 6: so you know, so we love coming here. We know
- 21:14Speaker 6: we got the back of all those fans out there,
- 21:16Speaker 6: all eighty five thousand, I believe a chair for us
- 21:19Speaker 6: and it was a great fella.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Welcome back to Jags am presented by car Shield here today.
- 21:28Speaker 2: And Josh Allen's got it all downpack. I mean, I
- 21:30Speaker 2: know you guys got a down pat as well because
- 21:32Speaker 2: you've been on all these trips as well. But he's
- 21:34Speaker 2: since old hat London, he's got it under control.
- 21:36Speaker 3: I think when we say that the Jaguars have somewhat
- 21:38Speaker 3: of an advantage playing here, even though they're five and
- 21:40Speaker 3: five in their ten games here, it's because there's a
- 21:45Speaker 3: routine and they know it. They trust the logistics team
- 21:49Speaker 3: for the Jaguars, what they do to get the team here,
- 21:51Speaker 3: and the medical staff and what they say to do
- 21:55Speaker 3: to be at your best, and the young guys follow
- 21:58Speaker 3: him and it works out pretty well.
- 22:00Speaker 4: Five and five in the last ten games is pretty
- 22:01Speaker 4: good considering they were well below five hundred during most
- 22:04Speaker 4: of that span.
- 22:05Speaker 3: So yeah, they do have a plan.
- 22:08Speaker 4: I think they figured out sort of the timing of
- 22:10Speaker 4: it coming over on Thursday, which they figured out a
- 22:12Speaker 4: couple of years into this ten year period. And now
- 22:15Speaker 4: this week it will be interesting to see what the
- 22:20Speaker 4: second week sort of staying here and how that preparation,
- 22:25Speaker 4: because nobody's really done that before. Nobody's really come off
- 22:29Speaker 4: of a game, had their Tuesday off, so to speak.
- 22:32Speaker 3: So that's what we'll see this week. A great team
- 22:35Speaker 3: and I think Buffalo is playing great right now. Can
- 22:37Speaker 3: negate the advantage?
- 22:39Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with my hot TAKEE being this week
- 22:41Speaker 2: we're gonna start off with me because why not the
- 22:43Speaker 2: ladies first? This time?
- 22:46Speaker 3: I think the British countryside the game is.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I think they needed the London trip right now. And
- 22:50Speaker 2: I know there was talk about, you know, getting out
- 22:52Speaker 2: of town doesn't fix your problems. Everything's going wrong and
- 22:54Speaker 2: needs to go home at some point, but this is
- 22:56Speaker 2: their home away from home and they do have this
- 22:58Speaker 2: under wraps and I think this is the best environment
- 23:00Speaker 2: they can be in because there is a little bit
- 23:02Speaker 2: of that training camp feel. You know, some teams go
- 23:04Speaker 2: to off to a college kind of hunker down. There
- 23:06Speaker 2: is that separation out here where I feel like when
- 23:09Speaker 2: you're going to take on a team like the Bills,
- 23:10Speaker 2: that will help insulate yourselves. Obviously, it helped them in
- 23:13Speaker 2: the first game to be able to kind of go
- 23:15Speaker 2: out there, not get the pressure off them, and then
- 23:18Speaker 2: kind of go from there, see improvements, get that building block,
- 23:21Speaker 2: as John would say, the building blocks as they get better.
- 23:25Speaker 3: I asked Josh Allen yesterday in the news conference after
- 23:27Speaker 3: the game, if he felt like the added time together,
- 23:31Speaker 3: you know, the the US against the world sort of
- 23:33Speaker 3: opportunity that persisted, was worth it, whether it meant anything
- 23:37Speaker 3: to the overall outcome. And he didn't, you know, he
- 23:40Speaker 3: didn't rubber stamp and go absolutely, but he said, you know,
- 23:42Speaker 3: we spent more time together. We had more time to
- 23:44Speaker 3: talk about the game plan, more time to talk about life,
- 23:47Speaker 3: more time to get to know each other. And he
- 23:48Speaker 3: says in those are all important things when you're building
- 23:51Speaker 3: a team.
- 23:52Speaker 4: Can't hurt I mean it, you know, they won, so
- 23:56Speaker 4: it worked, and you know, that come ra and that
- 24:00Speaker 4: sort of focus. It's retainly can't hurt going into a game.
- 24:04Speaker 4: And I can't tell if it actually manifested itself, but hey,
- 24:08Speaker 4: I want to know on this trip, kuy let's do.
- 24:10Speaker 2: It all right, John, you've been teasing the hot take.
- 24:12Speaker 2: What is the hot hot take that you had?
- 24:14Speaker 4: Well, good, good, Good for Josh Allen because you know,
- 24:17Speaker 4: and you try not to let sort of personal feelings
- 24:20Speaker 4: get in the way of like what you're saying about
- 24:21Speaker 4: a team. But everybody's who's been around this guy knows
- 24:25Speaker 4: what a good kid he is. And I thought for
- 24:28Speaker 4: three or four years he had been unfairly criticized a
- 24:32Speaker 4: lot of times. He hasn't had the huge sack numbers.
- 24:35Speaker 4: This guy's been reliable. Last year statistically he was as
- 24:39Speaker 4: good as at pressuring the quarterback as almost anybody in
- 24:42Speaker 4: the league.
- 24:43Speaker 3: We are so.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Sack centric in the NFL basketball that you know Trayvon
- 24:51Speaker 4: Walker had a sack yesterday. Well it was a zero
- 24:55Speaker 4: yard play. His play that mattered is what you're talking about.
- 24:59Speaker 4: But the sack is what. In two or three weeks, Hey,
- 25:02Speaker 4: he's got another sack. So Josh consistently gets pressure. He
- 25:08Speaker 4: has been fortunate enough this year turning his pressures into sacks.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Good for him.
- 25:12Speaker 4: I hope he gets paid the whole thing. But good, good,
- 25:14Speaker 4: good for Josh Allen Ryan.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Well, I like the guy a lot too. Yeah, right, hard,
- 25:18Speaker 3: here we go, Josh. And I think I've referenced this
- 25:21Speaker 3: five or six times since Detroit. But he he used
- 25:23Speaker 3: the word finish, and he finished yesterday. And he's going
- 25:26Speaker 3: to give Trent ball key fits if he keeps playing
- 25:28Speaker 3: like this, because they've got a lot of intricate contracts.
- 25:31Speaker 3: They've got a quarterback, they've got a cornerback, they may
- 25:33Speaker 3: have a receiver, but you can't let a premiere pass
- 25:36Speaker 3: rusher go right, So they are going to have to
- 25:38Speaker 3: work some cap gymnastics if he keeps playing this way,
- 25:41Speaker 3: and by the way.
- 25:42Speaker 4: Good yeah, but if he plays like this, you're happy
- 25:45Speaker 4: to do exactly.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you're happy to do it.
- 25:48Speaker 2: What is your hot take?
- 25:50Speaker 3: You know, I know you said this wasn't a must win,
- 25:51Speaker 3: but I'm calling this a season saving win because I
- 25:54Speaker 3: am much much more optimistic about the Jaguars taking on
- 25:58Speaker 3: this Bills team coming off of a win. Then if
- 26:01Speaker 3: they were answering the losses again, this week. It just
- 26:04Speaker 3: felt like this team was in some sort of a morass.
- 26:07Speaker 3: I mean it was a pit and they were trying
- 26:10Speaker 3: to get out of it, and the questions just you
- 26:12Speaker 3: could see guys they just wanted to get away from it.
- 26:14Speaker 3: If they'd had to do that all week This week,
- 26:16Speaker 3: I didn't like their chances against the Bills. And if
- 26:18Speaker 3: you came home one in four, oh boy, you get
- 26:21Speaker 3: a colts team. I don't know whether he saw them yesterday,
- 26:23Speaker 3: but they were down twenty to nothing and rallied against
- 26:26Speaker 3: the Rams and they ended up losing in overtime. So
- 26:29Speaker 3: they're playing well. You get them at home and you're
- 26:31Speaker 3: coming off a trip home. I mean, they were just
- 26:34Speaker 3: there was a cascading effect of a couple of losses
- 26:38Speaker 3: that could send this season beyond their ability to rescue it.
- 26:42Speaker 3: And I think yesterday planted them firmly, planted their flag
- 26:45Speaker 3: firmly in the ground and gives them a chance now
- 26:47Speaker 3: to go play well and to play with confidence. So
- 26:50Speaker 3: from that sense, I thought it was a season saving win.
- 26:53Speaker 4: Yeah, even though it wasn't must win, I sort of
- 26:56Speaker 4: agree with you. I just the must win thing, Oh
- 26:59Speaker 4: I get it, Hey go on one in three come
- 27:00Speaker 4: back and you win three or four, so you could
- 27:02Speaker 4: win some.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Games that you weren't expected to win or that you
- 27:04Speaker 3: didn't think you might.
- 27:06Speaker 4: You know, before he finished, just went up. Doug Peterson.
- 27:10Speaker 4: I think it's valuable right now for the Jaguars to
- 27:14Speaker 4: have him as the head coach because he has navigated
- 27:17Speaker 4: through early season weirdness all of his career. When I
- 27:21Speaker 4: was sixteen or seventeen by my dad had an LTD
- 27:23Speaker 4: or the old LTDs, and it had it had no
- 27:26Speaker 4: power steers san at the station. Well, no, it was
- 27:31Speaker 4: a sedan, but it was like thirty five feet long,
- 27:33Speaker 4: so like a station. Wie hard to steer it and
- 27:36Speaker 4: you always felt like you were trying to keep it
- 27:37Speaker 4: on the road. That's what it feels like Doug's doing
- 27:40Speaker 4: right now because he has such a great long term perspective.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Even though he's talking about short term urgency, he also
- 27:46Speaker 4: knows that as long as you can get to two
- 27:48Speaker 4: and two or three and three, four and three five,
- 27:50Speaker 4: and you know, as long as you can get there,
- 27:53Speaker 4: it's about getting hot at the end of the season.
- 27:55Speaker 4: Jaguars followers haven't been good in a while, so they
- 27:57Speaker 4: don't really realize this happens early in seasons. I think
- 28:01Speaker 4: Doug's doing a nice job driving the LTD.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Keeping us on the rails, keeping us on the roads.
- 28:06Speaker 3: His dad probably had an LTD too.
- 28:07Speaker 4: I'm gonna have may have my dad, Shirre did, and
- 28:09Speaker 4: he couldn't wait to get rid of it all right.
- 28:11Speaker 2: One of our presenting sponsors today is Forevervet's Animal Hospital.
- 28:15Speaker 2: You can sign up your furry friend for the Jaguars

- 28:24Speaker 2: what we go going on the rest of the week.
- 28:25Speaker 2: We'll be right back here on jagsip head over to
- 28:35Speaker 2: zipchare dot com to browse all customizable options. Zipchair is
- 28:38Speaker 2: furniture for fans. So we're spending our week here in
- 28:42Speaker 2: London or England. I should say Hanbury Manor is north
- 28:46Speaker 2: of London and the team will be here for a
- 28:49Speaker 2: full week, so that'll be a little bit weird for them,
- 28:51Speaker 2: but they've got a down pad at this point, so
- 28:53Speaker 2: things should go as planned. I do want to quickly
- 28:56Speaker 2: talk about the story of the week. Really, the toy
- 28:59Speaker 2: story game all.
- 28:59Speaker 3: Of those two.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Oh, we're not a chief show. I will not talk Taylor.
- 29:05Speaker 3: I think it's an NFL thing, but I'll just leave
- 29:06Speaker 3: the conspiracy theories to rest.
- 29:08Speaker 2: This is much more important.
- 29:09Speaker 3: I don't think they're really dating.
- 29:10Speaker 2: The Pixar game from Andy's room for Toy Story was
- 29:14Speaker 2: I haven't watched the full thing.
- 29:16Speaker 3: Excellent.
- 29:17Speaker 2: I love it. I think it's great for the kids.
- 29:18Speaker 2: It looked really cool, and to watch it comparatively, they
- 29:21Speaker 2: did a lot of side by side screens of the
- 29:23Speaker 2: actual real game. It's awesome how accurate it is.
- 29:25Speaker 3: Did you guys get I saw some of it too.
- 29:27Speaker 3: I thought it was brilliant. My oldest grew up in
- 29:31Speaker 3: the original Toy Store era, so I know the characters.
- 29:34Speaker 3: I just man Disney put on a show with that.
- 29:37Speaker 3: And when you're talking about trying to attract a younger audience,
- 29:41Speaker 3: especially in such a diversified media environment that they're living
- 29:44Speaker 3: in these days, I thought the NFL hit a home run.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Yeah. I watched Toy Story one and two endlessly as
- 29:50Speaker 4: my son, I have not seen this fantastic and I'm
- 29:55Speaker 4: not surprised. They used to do a good jobs these
- 29:56Speaker 4: sorts of things.
- 29:57Speaker 3: On one of the I guess it was a bea. No,
- 30:00Speaker 3: it was the return, it was the end. They said
- 30:03Speaker 3: that his feet were on fire, and they literally had
- 30:05Speaker 3: a flame of fire behind his feet.
- 30:07Speaker 2: It was just Trevor had a bunch of fireflames runs
- 30:10Speaker 2: as well because he's running all over the place. And
- 30:12Speaker 2: then the defense had their planned celebration. I didn't realize
- 30:15Speaker 2: after the fact. I thought it was bowling, but it
- 30:16Speaker 2: was actually a toy story reference, because when Andy comes
- 30:19Speaker 2: into his room and toy story for all of you unfamiliar,
- 30:21Speaker 2: all the toys go back to being toys and they're
- 30:23Speaker 2: not alive anymore. And that's what the touchdown celebration was
- 30:26Speaker 2: when Darius Williams got the pick six.
- 30:27Speaker 4: And out of all the things we heard yesterday, the
- 30:29Speaker 4: whim was great. That is really really cool for them
- 30:33Speaker 4: to have thought of that and taking the time to
- 30:34Speaker 4: do that.
- 30:35Speaker 3: That's cool.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I know I'm going to have to do some investigative
- 30:38Speaker 2: journalism and figure that out. I will get the answer
- 30:40Speaker 2: for you, guys, I promise. Thanks for joining us here
- 30:42Speaker 2: for jags am on Victory Monday from Hanbury, Manor in
- 30:45Speaker 2: the English country side. We'll be back with you on Wednesday,
- 30:48Speaker 2: and Thursday this week as we preview the game against
- 30:50Speaker 2: the Bills.
