- 0:11Hello. My name is Jared Faircloth.
- 0:13And my name is Johannes. And welcome to to adduce our
- 0:17guest star. I'm not a fan podcast, the
- 0:19topics.com in this show, Joe, and I are taking it in turns to
- 0:23surprise each other with each week's guest.
- 0:25And this week, while I brought you a guest Joe, I brought you a
- 0:28brought you a present. Oh, that's so lovely.
- 0:31I'm very excited for this. This tough pigs holiday special.
- 0:36Is it a? Is it holiday-related it
- 0:38probably isn't, but, but time this is it won't be anything.
- 0:42I mean, granted we done it just after Thanksgiving, but We're
- 0:46probably peeking behind the curtain a little too much by
- 0:48telling people that aren't we? Well, I think it's always a
- 0:51holiday. It may not be the holidays.
- 0:54Yeah, sure. It's always I have something.
- 0:56Yeah, exactly. That's it.
- 0:58But Joe, you don't know who's coming.
- 0:59Di, I do not end. This is, this is my last time
- 1:03guessing for a while. So I feel like I have a lot of
- 1:06pressure here for me to get this one right.
- 1:10That's it. Wow.
- 1:11Joe as always, you can ask them questions and say, if you can't
- 1:14figure this out, all right. Give me.
- 1:16Give me the first one. Is it Muppet Henson or Sesame
- 1:21and his Muppets and sesame. Muppets and sesame.
- 1:24All right. Well, is it a muppet performer?
- 1:27No. Hmm.
- 1:29All right well then I'm out. I feel like it's all kosher.
- 1:35Would you please welcome? It's always easiest to guess
- 1:38when it's a performer and also very difficult because there's
- 1:41so many of them. All right, so Sesame and Muppets
- 1:46is this. Someone who was, did they work
- 1:50in some capacity at the Sesame? 50th Anniversary, Special No, I
- 1:56don't believe so. All right.
- 1:58All right. That's good to know that we're
- 2:01not at all. Good to know.
- 2:04Sorry that this person wasn't invited.
- 2:05So play along with the Sesame. I wasn't Patti, LaBelle, I'm
- 2:07sorry. Is this someone who worked in
- 2:13some capacity on Muppets tonight?
- 2:17No, mmm-hmm. All right, that narrowed that
- 2:20took a few people out of the running that I was thinking
- 2:22about boy. I have no clue who this could
- 2:26be. I will, I will guess.
- 2:30Mmm. Is it some, is it a writer?
- 2:35This person has written, but probably not in the way that
- 2:38you're thinking. Yeah, fair enough.
- 2:40All right, boy. Oh boy, I am stumped.
- 2:46I'll have Wow. Wild guess, because you said
- 2:52written but not in the way I'm thinking, I'm gonna guess.
- 2:55It's someone who has written music and perhaps it is, Ed
- 2:59Mitchell and is not Ed Mitchell, Joe.
- 3:02And I'm so glad you got this wrong because it's gonna be the
- 3:06last one for a while. I was like, oh, he's gonna get
- 3:08it right and he's gonna be good. I think you've gotten even get
- 3:11kinky apis. But you got the others.
- 3:12Correct, Joe. My guest today is a Hilarious
- 3:17actor, comedian and voice over artist who's appeared on shows
- 3:20like 30 Rock. Unbreakable, Kimmy Schmidt, The
- 3:23Simpsons Bob's Burgers and documentary.
- 3:25Now he's also been in films like sisters Monsters University
- 3:29inside out and the secret life of pets and of course I cannot
- 3:33go past his whopping nine seasons on Saturday Night Live.
- 3:37He's been a duck on DuckTales, a bear on, we bare bears and he's
- 3:40also the world's drunkest uncle but my fans know him and love
- 3:44him for his tons of Muppets appearance.
- 3:46So, So people can see in this Joe is just gone silent.
- 3:49And he's so excited. No one loved him for his tons of
- 3:54Muppet appearances, over the years, like being the quacker
- 3:56duck, man, on Sesame Street, or bringing the guest star for
- 3:59both. The Hollywood Bowl and 02 live
- 4:01Muppet chose Joe, would you please welcome to to introduce
- 4:05our guest star? Bobby Moynihan.
- 4:11That was that's a slow clap for you Jared.
- 4:14Thank you, thank you very much. Ah, so excited.
- 4:18Oh my God, that's Bobby Moynihan.
- 4:21Hey Bobby. How are you?
- 4:24How are you? How are you?
- 4:25Dad, what's going on? I'm just being very excited over
- 4:29the fact that I'm talking to Bobby Moynihan.
- 4:31Oh yeah, same here. Nice to meet you guys.
- 4:33That's me. Yes, I'm Jerry.
- 4:34Yeah, I think you and Joel actually met.
- 4:37Yes. Correct, we did.
- 4:40Do you remember? That's our you look extremely
- 4:42familiar. I know we met, we met very
- 4:46briefly, after one of the Hollywood Hollywood Bowl shows
- 4:50in. L.a., yeah, I snuck into the
- 4:53after party. Good work.
- 4:57Yeah, thank you. Yeah, no, it was, I mean, well,
- 5:01well, we'll talk all about the Hollywood Bowl and the O2 shows
- 5:04for sure, but like, it was just such a treat to meet you that
- 5:06day, you know, to Like you were like, still floating on cloud
- 5:10nine, from getting to lie, still habits all night.
- 5:13Yeah, I'm yeah, I am I sore great interview with you.
- 5:19I watched a couple of weeks ago where you talked about the
- 5:21Hollywood Bowl show and then the fact that you went home
- 5:24afterwards and you just had to like, take out your bins and you
- 5:26like how am I supposed to do this with Kermit the Frog?
- 5:29Just said my name. It's completely true II.
- 5:34I remember, I remember that. Exact.
- 5:38I don't remember saying in an interview but I remember that
- 5:40exact moment happening. Do you need me to record on my
- 5:45end? But not I'm recording on my end.
- 5:47Oh, oh, great, great great, yeah, yeah, awesome.
- 5:52Yeah. Well, we starts.
- 5:54Yeah, let's let's let's talk about this.
- 5:55Well, I mean, well, first of all, I mean, even before we even
- 5:58get into like the times you've worked with the Muppets, are you
- 6:00spoof The Muppets on a scenario or whatever?
- 6:02Like you've been a fan? You've been a lifelong fan just
- 6:04like us, which is always incredible.
- 6:07To hear, you know, people, you know, our love the Muppets.
- 6:10We love it, whether they're famous or not.
- 6:14Yeah, you tell it just always loved them. yeah, ever since I
- 6:18was a kid, I think it was like Sesame Street was like, you
- 6:23know, or Christmas Eve on Sesame Street is like one of my very
- 6:27most Vivid memories. But like gones at my mom, got me
- 6:31a Gonzo stuffed animal. I have it.
- 6:33I have it right over there. I've had, it's about the day.
- 6:35I was born, she got me and Gonzo stuffed animal and like I had it
- 6:39my entire life and that was my entry into it.
- 6:43But like I remember watching the old Muppet Show and loving it
- 6:48and just the movies and everything.
- 6:49Yeah, I was talking to my wife recently about.
- 6:56I was like why like where did it start?
- 6:58I wonder what the moment is, and I tried to find pictures of it.
- 7:03I can't find pictures of it, but in Westchester County, there was
- 7:07a mall called The Galleria mall and one Christmas.
- 7:12They just had like the entire Mall, the Middle of the mall.
- 7:16Was this giant Christmas tree display?
- 7:19And they had like life-size animatronic versions of the
- 7:23Muppets like in the tree? Like doing things like, you
- 7:27know, like yeah, like an end. First, I just remember being,
- 7:32I'd remember going there and being like, what am I looking
- 7:35at? And I for some reason I feel
- 7:37like that is the start of it all as far as the Muppet love goes.
- 7:44But yeah, just on my life. Yeah, I when I was a baby, my
- 7:48first Christmas. I got given a Sesame Street,
- 7:51like, projector that went up on the ceiling.
- 7:53I was only six months old and my mum.
- 7:56And dad have said, oh, we put that thing on every single
- 7:58night. And I'm like, so you may never A
- 8:00single not when my small little fresh brain, I just watched
- 8:04Sesame Street characters dance. I'm like well that's why this
- 8:07happens that's why I've got the muffin caddos.
- 8:10Yeah, in low resolution what's up?
- 8:12What are you have? Which I have I have chemists I
- 8:15of and then I can't get it out there.
- 8:17But I've got the original design for Big Bird just here.
- 8:21Oh, wow. That's do you want to mention
- 8:24skills? Like, design deep.
- 8:26Yeah, yeah. How old are you?
- 8:27How old are you? Don't mind me asking.
- 8:29I'm Thank you 365. Trying to see if wear this
- 8:33around the same age. I'm 45.
- 8:35I'm 39, but I have no ink yet not yet.
- 8:38Yeah, yes, errors. All have something yeah,
- 8:44fullback Snuffleupagus tet. Yeah, my yeah.
- 8:48My my Oscar, the Grouch tramp stamp.
- 8:51Yeah. If you ever thought about Dylan
- 8:57Dylan postal, he's Hornswoggle from UWE.
- 9:00He's and he's Muppets Most Wanted.
- 9:02He's like covered in Muppet tattoos.
- 9:04That's the best thing I've ever heard of him.
- 9:08Yeah, right. So I want to ask you about so
- 9:15like obviously, I'm sure people ask you about your time on SNL
- 9:18with every single interview you've ever done.
- 9:20But like, specifically, you've gotten to like dress as Muppets
- 9:24and make references to Muppets and like even like hang out with
- 9:27big bird on the SNL stage. So have you ever was any of that
- 9:32stuff? Been something that you've
- 9:33pitched or that you've written? Or is it just like, hey man,
- 9:36we're just gonna put a Gonzo nose on you.
- 9:38Get up there. Almost all of it.
- 9:41I think no, I hope right before I was technically on the show, I
- 9:47was at the Seth Rogen show, Seth Rogen hosted and I was there
- 9:52like backstage. Before I got the show, Bill
- 9:58Hader invited me and I got to go like, sit backstage and that
- 10:02night, Seth Rogen played Rolfe. And then when I got on the show,
- 10:09I wrote or I pitched it, and wrote that sketch, I'm sure I
- 10:12wrote it with somebody. I don't remember who helped me.
- 10:15Here's, I don't remember who helped me write it in this
- 10:19moment, but the Muppet sketch where we were all on the boss of
- 10:23the whole moves though we were in a hit-and-run.
- 10:26That's a gripe that one. Yeah and I that was yeah, I
- 10:32wrote that one like going like, oh sevis here again, maybe he
- 10:36could play. Of and I can play Gonzo.
- 10:38I just wanted to play God's out. I just wanted to like have them
- 10:41make me a chicken which I still have and yeah I kept that
- 10:46chicken. I kept that Camilla the chicken.
- 10:47I just stole stuff from SNL all the time.
- 10:51I would have kept the bus if they let me, I would have bet.
- 10:55Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then like, I think I like,
- 11:02we wrote another one where, like there was a monologue or
- 11:05something with bleep. Blake Lively.
- 11:07Yeah, we live right. Think that happened again?
- 11:11Because of that first one or the bus 1.
- 11:15And then my think my crowning moment Like you can see me, you
- 11:23can see me. See the moment hat.
- 11:25Like, I look off camera and I'm what I'm doing is, I'm looking
- 11:29at the Monitor and the second, I see it.
- 11:31Like, I just lose it inside is the blue jean committee sketch
- 11:38when Jason Segel hosted with the Muppets.
- 11:40And I'm, I'm physically on camera with Gonzo and Rolfe and
- 11:45like my life was over after that.
- 11:47I was like, I've appeared on camera with Gonzo.
- 11:49I'm On I'm done, I'm amazed it then but then I got to go then I
- 11:55got to go on tour with them and do that show.
- 11:57And like then I had no idea what was to come.
- 12:01Like in that moment I was like, oh my God, I was on TV with
- 12:03Gonzo and then like I got to work with them a bunch and it
- 12:06was the craziest Right. Like, as if you could just tell
- 12:09your your younger self. Like like, no, no, I know this
- 12:13is cool. Don't get me wrong, but yeah,
- 12:15yeah, we know, he was back on the Warriors.
- 12:16Yeah, yeah. You have no idea that pretty
- 12:19soon your ringtone is going to be when Kermit announces you for
- 12:25the Muppet Show, hosting the Muppet Show live at the
- 12:27Hollywood Bowl, like it like that.
- 12:28That's where I still don't yell, don't understand.
- 12:32That one was incredible. Well, one of my favorite moments
- 12:36on SNL was went Big Bird. Came on.
- 12:39Let me that was a great segment. Anyway, and just went Big Bird
- 12:43comes out after Seth and and it was Carol to and it was Carol
- 12:46and when people realize that it's the real big bird people
- 12:49just go nuts. And then there's a beautiful
- 12:51moment during the credits, when you're on stage, you know,
- 12:54hugging each other as you do, and you hug big bird and there's
- 12:57a moment where you're just looking up at him, just so
- 12:59filled with love and it's like, oh yeah, I think I fell in love
- 13:03with you. Then it's that that is, that is
- 13:08That is the essence of Bobby Moynihan.
- 13:10Going like we like it, I couldn't believe it.
- 13:14But but but what you don't see is off.
- 13:16Camera is a bunch of big birds handlers going don't, don't
- 13:19touch him. Don't touch him, be careful.
- 13:26I've worked with a couple times. I've been in a few times, but
- 13:31like I'm always, like, I want to get in there for that hug.
- 13:34Like, I don't care who's inside this Bard, not doesn't matter
- 13:37because it's the real big bird. And it's hard not to all of the
- 13:39hug, all of them, all of all of them.
- 13:42When you're, when you're talking like, like, my, my, I noticed
- 13:47was like, in between takes, whatever, like I work with them
- 13:50or like, whatever. Like in between takes, I get mad
- 13:53with it when I look down and they're not looking at me.
- 13:55And I'm like, hello, like her. Like, you know, like it's like,
- 14:00you forget, you forget that they're not for you.
- 14:02Like it's yeah. Yeah, I am not ashamed.
- 14:05It's fun. Fun to work with.
- 14:06I've had clear their own I've had like that.
- 14:09I wouldn't even call them stress dreams, but I've had dreams in
- 14:11my life where I've been in like the vicinity of the Muppets.
- 14:15And like, I'll they'll be the for our camp at the Frog.
- 14:18Puppet. And I want to put it on and my
- 14:21brain won't. Let me my brain of wake me up
- 14:22before I actually get my hand inside the puppet and then 2015,
- 14:27I was actually got to be on set of the old ABC series and I was
- 14:31in a room and they left me in there and it was just the Kermit
- 14:35puppet laying on the table and I was Like I'm not allowed to
- 14:40touch it. Like it's my dream has come true
- 14:43and it was horrible. And I'm saying to like Peter
- 14:45lens, I'm like, no. Just let me put it on.
- 14:48He's like he goes I would love you so.
- 14:50But I really can't let you and I'm like, I get it.
- 14:53But God, I was so upset it. I get it.
- 14:57I am sorry. I don't, when I worked with him,
- 14:59I didn't have the urge to like put it on like I was like
- 15:02terrified of that. I got to try on a journey when I
- 15:05did Sesame Street like the oh sorry.
- 15:08Now you're up. They let me let me calling.
- 15:11That's Ernie. He's calling, don't tell the
- 15:13story. It's burnt it's actually Bert.
- 15:18It's they let me try an Ernie. I'm when I did Sesame Street and
- 15:21it felt wrong. I really like you know because
- 15:25well because because it's like it's like it's also like It's
- 15:29like somebody picking up Bruce Willis and going like, hey, I'm
- 15:32Bruce well, it like, you know, like therefore these famous, I
- 15:35mean, not like a well, as but, you know what I mean, like, it's
- 15:38like, it's like, they're these famous entities.
- 15:41Like it's like what? It's like seeing somebody else
- 15:44in a Chewbacca costume. You're like, that's not him.
- 15:47Yeah, that's it. Like I can put on what I put on
- 15:50Kermit and I can't do his voice. Yeah, exactly.
- 15:54I was going to have a bunch of people when people say like, oh,
- 15:59I can do a great Kermit impression, it's like, well,
- 16:01that's great, but you can't be Kermit.
- 16:03There is like, that's not the essence of groomers just The
- 16:05Voice, or just the puppet. Yeah, it's yeah, it's the facial
- 16:08expression. You know what I mean?
- 16:09Like, it's the, it's all that it's.
- 16:12It's not, it's such an art to, and like Matt vote.
- 16:16Matt Vogel does it now right? Yeah.
- 16:19Both Carmen and a big bird, right?
- 16:22For hate so. So well I think I've worked with
- 16:24both of them. Yeah, that one of my favorite
- 16:27things I've ever got to do in my life was that happy fee with
- 16:29him? And I was going to ask about
- 16:31having favor bowl and then at one didn't like that was nuts.
- 16:34That's still I wrote something. All those better write something
- 16:38recently about how, you know, Kermit's things Rainbow
- 16:42Connection a lot, which is great.
- 16:43So one of my favorite songs of all time but you know he has
- 16:46other students on for. Yeah.
- 16:47He has other songs that he could be singing and one of them was
- 16:50happy fate and I actually That video of you and Kermit singing
- 16:54it because I was like, look at it, could be done, it can even
- 16:56be done if you can't see Kim at State like on the revenue show
- 16:59and you can always have whoever he's like the host of the show
- 17:01is whatever, do it with him. So yeah, I think people need to
- 17:05be looking at that sketch. You two did?
- 17:09Okay, half a muppet for that. Is what every morning?
- 17:14Yeah, correct. Yeah, that was.
- 17:16That was a blast. I feel bad for the two
- 17:18gentlemen, between my legs. But yeah.
- 17:23I'm sure they were honored. They would know they were
- 17:26wonderful. They were wonderful.
- 17:27They were fantastic. Was it Paul McGinnis?
- 17:29It was I think he was the one McGinnis who and yeah I'm
- 17:33blanking on the other guy's name.
- 17:36He was awesome. He was very well.
- 17:39How did the how did it come to you?
- 17:42That you know this they were going to do the live map it
- 17:44shows and they wanted you to host.
- 17:45Do they just come to you? Did you just hear something in
- 17:48the rumbling and go? Oh, can I do that?
- 17:52I feel like my whole journey with the Muppets just started
- 17:55from like when one night of SNL is like Christmas show, the
- 18:02Christmas tree lighting was happening downstairs and we were
- 18:05looking down. We saw that the Muppets were
- 18:07there and I like my brain broke in half, so I ran downstairs.
- 18:13Through 30 Rock like a maniac. And just went, like, just went
- 18:18outside like a fan and just like, hung out outside and tried
- 18:21to see them and ended up like, getting close enough, where and
- 18:26somebody there was like, are you Bobby Moynihan?
- 18:28Like, we all got. We got him.
- 18:29We got to take a bunch of pictures with them, and that's
- 18:33if you look at my Twitter account, that's the picture of
- 18:35me and Gonzo, that's at all. So I've never changed it just
- 18:38because that might, that's the, that's the, my peaked at that in
- 18:41that moment and I met Gonzo and that was it, I freaked out.
- 18:46I met Dave goals, I couldn't believe it and it was like the
- 18:50best day of my life and then like slowly stuff started
- 18:54happening, it was like I got to do Sesame Street.
- 18:57I met David Rudman through that and like we ended up doing
- 19:01nature. Can he start?
- 19:02He was think I'm doing this thing called nature cat.
- 19:05So we started doing nature cat together and I had known a
- 19:09couple of those guys. I've met Bill Beretta and Couple
- 19:13of them. And then I think next was that?
- 19:18Yeah, I think that was it possibly was just like, hey, are
- 19:21you around? We know you're a huge fan.
- 19:24We're doing this thing, and would you want to host the
- 19:27Muppet Show live? And I was like, are you insane?
- 19:30And I was like, what do you mean?
- 19:31And it was like all the original B, like all like, you know, like
- 19:36the classics and I was just like, are you kidding me?
- 19:39Of course, and I had just had a baby like Days before it.
- 19:44Like, I think, like, 12 days before the Hollywood show bowl,
- 19:48like, the Hollywood Bowl shows, I had a bait, like, it was
- 19:51cutting it close, but I was like, I can't, there's no way I
- 19:53can't do this. I don't think I could do it
- 19:56again now, looking back. But it was the best, that was
- 19:58like, one of the easily, one of the best.
- 20:02Weekend's of my life. And then we did it in London at
- 20:04the O2. And then I think, like, I think
- 20:06the aspirations were to Go Muppets Take Manhattan and do it
- 20:10on Broadway. And then pandemic heaven.
- 20:16That damn pandemic. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:20So I did a, I did a podcast for tough pigs a while back.
- 20:24We're called 15 seconds to curtain where I was
- 20:26interviewing, some some celebrities and notable people
- 20:29who are also being Muppet fans. And I was trying to figure out
- 20:32like, how to get in touch with these, these folks.
- 20:34And I was talking to Ryan, Dylan who, you know, he plays, he
- 20:36plays Elmo sure. And he was like, well, you
- 20:39talked to Bobby, you gotta talk to Bobby.
- 20:40So, like, I feel like you have this reputation of like, you're
- 20:44the famous guy, who, Is also like the ultimate Muppet fan.
- 20:48So it doesn't surprise me that you were the first person on
- 20:50their speed dial. When you know, that's that's
- 20:54amazing Muppet Show. It's not a bad place to be.
- 20:57It's not a, not a bad thing to have Muppets as friends.
- 21:00So I completely agree. Yeah.
- 21:02Can you talk a little about back?
- 21:04You know, you get the phone call to go and be the quacker duck
- 21:07man on Sesame Street. Kevin Hart backed out?
- 21:12It was written for Kevin Hart. Really Kevin Hart could.
- 21:15Oh yeah Kevin Hart couldn't make it and they were like hey you
- 21:18want to do this bit real quick and I was like yeah and yeah
- 21:22because you're a Kevin Hart type.
- 21:23Oh dude no joke. This is not a bit.
- 21:30Okay, for those. I'll spank you put this picture
- 21:32online, but Bobby is wearing a quacker duck man hat.
- 21:41That's perfect. What you really do?
- 21:42Steal everything from set. Yeah.
- 21:44You gotta vote, dude. No, Brian.
- 21:47Brian. The said lucky the guy that did
- 21:49the made the costume for that was a costume designer at SNL
- 21:53and he gave it to me, I have a coat, like, right over there for
- 21:57some reason. Yeah, I keep everything I do.
- 22:00I have, if you go back and you watch that the oatmeal Telly.
- 22:05Yes, like I have that. I have that downstairs and he's
- 22:09amazing. Wow, yeah.
- 22:11I got a bunch of Muppets downstairs.
- 22:13What I like about you Bobby is that you've got real Muppet
- 22:16energy in your characters like the quacker.
- 22:18Duck, man. Feels like he belongs on Sesame
- 22:21Street, but even going back to some of the Year.
- 22:23SNL characters. Someone like drunk uncle or
- 22:26Janet peckinpah, ugh, or remember the name of the
- 22:29astronaut who loves these little kitty, cat.
- 22:32They all feel very much Appetit and so you can really I think,
- 22:36see that influence from the Muppets on You sure?
- 22:40I mean like it's this, I mean, like in my mind at the second
- 22:43best sketch comedy show, like, variety, show that I remember,
- 22:46growing up with, besides Saturday Night Live.
- 22:49Like it's it's the same thing, like it's the same show, but,
- 22:53like, black puppets. But, and, but Lorne Michaels,
- 22:58isn't quite as is entertaining to watch as Kermit the Frog.
- 23:02And I shall know. I disagree.
- 23:05I don't know. Fair enough.
- 23:12He's got a deal with. I think that's the only
- 23:14difference piggy. That's that's, that's the next,
- 23:19exactly. But I have to assume that like,
- 23:22I mean, I assume this of anyone in the comedy world that
- 23:25especially someone who's like around our age who like you must
- 23:29have been influenced by the Muppets.
- 23:30So I'm curious if there. Were other people who either
- 23:33like writers on us now, or performers, or even, like, guest
- 23:35stars who are coming in. Who like, would you like find
- 23:39people in? Like kind of bombed over this or
- 23:40like, I gotta show you this like old Muppet Show clip on YouTube
- 23:43or whatever. Yeah.
- 23:46I mean, like I would go as far as saying, I've yet to find
- 23:48someone at this at maybe our level, but my Sergei is a huge.
- 23:55Mikey day is like a huge, huge, huge muppets, muppets guy.
- 23:59Yeah. Like there's definitely a, you
- 24:01run into them and you find them or like my favorite is like, the
- 24:06people who were like, who you, who you think, would not care at
- 24:10all. And then they're like, hey, if
- 24:13you're doing them up and thinking, I bet that They
- 24:18secretly have a muppet, they really want to be and you go
- 24:20like I knew you liked it. Well and then definitely, huh.
- 24:27When you see people, when you see people like that, you know,
- 24:30that like you're I assume you're friends with like Tina Fey, is
- 24:33starring in a Muppet movie. Are you calling it up?
- 24:35And being like, Oh my God, Tina, I saw you like what was it?
- 24:38Like, I didn't know Tina. Well enough to call her at that
- 24:43point. I don't If I would have, but I
- 24:46definitely have. I think I definitely have
- 24:49brought up wins to Tina since we got closer because of mr.
- 24:54Mayor like just asking her like what was it?
- 24:58Like, did you have a good time? Like or like, just talk to it's
- 25:02a common thing to bring up like oh we both worked with the
- 25:04Muppets. I was fun, right?
- 25:06But she's a huge Muppet fan. I think she's feeling, she's
- 25:09fantastic. She's the funniest woman of
- 25:11sure. Yeah, absolutely.
- 25:12I mean, she really is. Yeah.
- 25:14But you so you've done a lot with sorry, I'm just gonna have
- 25:17to assess me for my you've done a lot, which says to me, I think
- 25:20I didn't realize until I was looking for this podcast, just
- 25:23how many things you've done with Sesame like you hosted, a steady
- 25:27stroke panel in 2014. There's a couple of videos of
- 25:31that around you also hosted the comic on Sesame Street panel or
- 25:37something. For years ago, is that again
- 25:39there's yeah, that was nuts. Again, them coming to you.
- 25:44Yeah that was like the the last I was that one was like super
- 25:48last minute. That one that Comic-Con one was
- 25:51like I had done the live shows already and then they were like
- 25:54hey we kind of want to do some sketches for Comic-Con.
- 25:56We have a small theater like why not?
- 25:58And then the next thing I know I'm dressed up it and we did a
- 26:01whole bunch of new ones. So I went there like the night
- 26:04before, read a script and then like we just did them like the
- 26:09bit like where I'm dressed as Ernie and I did something with
- 26:11burp, but he thinks I'm Ernie and Then we did something with
- 26:15Guy. Smiley we did like a whole bunch
- 26:17of new bits and it was a blast it was a it was an absolute
- 26:21blast. and then I did Carol spinnies Oh, the other thing of
- 26:31the Henson tribute. That's right.
- 26:32Yeah, that the tribute on the Henson lot, I sang, I love trash
- 26:37with Oscar to Caroll spinney. That was the one of the craziest
- 26:41moments of my life. That must have been mind-blowing
- 26:44to completely absolutely insane. Absolutely.
- 26:47AB to Carolee insane. Yeah.
- 26:50Yeah. It was nuts.
- 26:53Yeah, because that's good right there.
- 26:57Working with the Muppets, you're doing something like to give
- 27:00back to the puppeteers. That's yeah.
- 27:03That's, that's a guy, was a special night.
- 27:05It was a special night. It was absolutely.
- 27:07And well, I think just and he was, of course, this show.
- 27:11I think gonna show you just how much they love and respect you
- 27:15if they're asking you to do all this stuff and, and yeah, don't
- 27:19blame him. Well, it seems to be about love
- 27:22and family over. Are and they're very kind people
- 27:24and I think like, they understand that.
- 27:27Yeah. Every single one of those live
- 27:31shows that I did at the ball or even or at the O2 ended with me,
- 27:35hysterically, crying and being extremely thankful.
- 27:38So, I'm just glad I didn't scare them away.
- 27:41What do you do? Two shows.
- 27:44Was that a given when you did the Hollywood Bowl or did they
- 27:47then come to you afterwards? And say, hey, we're going to do
- 27:49the go to as well if you want to come.
- 27:52Yeah, it was kind of like that went so well, let's do it here.
- 27:55I think like, I mean, to be honest, I don't, I mean like I
- 27:58don't remember behind-the-scenes.
- 28:00It may well have been like a pre-planned thing or like an if
- 28:04this does well we do this but from what I remember it was
- 28:08like, Hey, you free to do this also and I was like yeah.
- 28:13Yeah. Yeah.
- 28:15Could you imagine saying no to them?
- 28:17That's the real question like it.
- 28:19I had with him recently. All right, you anything I had to
- 28:23recently where I would they ask me to do something and I tried
- 28:26to like move something and I couldn't make it work and like
- 28:29I'm still mad about it. I'm still mad about it.
- 28:33I couldn't do it. It was a tiny little thing but
- 28:35still I really wanted to do it and I just I couldn't.
- 28:39But uh yeah no I dropped everything and went London.
- 28:44And next thing, you know, you're in a bus with all the Muppets
- 28:46looking at Big Bend in your like, this is not.
- 28:49This is the movie. This is a Muppet movie.
- 28:52Yeah, right. Yeah.
- 28:52You're living the great Muppet. Caper, that point?
- 28:54Yeah, exactly Bonkers. So I'm curious like when you
- 29:00were starting to prepare for the live shows, you know, when
- 29:04you're basically looking at a script and seeing, like, I get
- 29:07to sing this song, I'm doing that sketch.
- 29:09Was there something that you looked at?
- 29:10And you were like, oh no. Like I like that's Too much for
- 29:14me, whether it's like, to close to what the Muppets did, or two
- 29:18challenging to do or, oh, no, I had this like whole song to sing
- 29:23or was it all? Just gimme, gimme, gimme gimme.
- 29:26Yeah, it was the opposite. It was that it was.
- 29:28It was, it was, especially the Hollywood Bowl shows.
- 29:31I mean, like, it was a full Broadway show.
- 29:33I mean, like I had 13 songs costume changes, B with every
- 29:38Muppet, like, you know, like running around the, the actual
- 29:41Hollywood Bowl in the Like it was one of the craziest things
- 29:48I've ever done. And I look back now, and I'm
- 29:51super, super, super proud of it. And then, like the London shows,
- 29:55were like, even better for me personally because SNL isn't on
- 30:02in the UK. So, so nobody knew who I was so,
- 30:06but I still got to host it but like, they would, what they
- 30:10would do is like four or five of the B, it would be E, like the
- 30:14first night, it's Kylie Minogue. And then we got, you know, like
- 30:17all these famous people from the UK.
- 30:19Like David Tennant, came and did Doctor Who like, for pigs in
- 30:24space and like, they wrote like specific things, but, like, my
- 30:27load was a lot lighter and in London.
- 30:30So I got to like, watch a lot more of the show and just go,
- 30:34like, sit there and like everybody, you talk to It has a
- 30:40prolific, like, you talked to one guy and you're like, hey,
- 30:43what do I do? He's like, I'm a penguin and
- 30:44this show and I'm like, oh that's great.
- 30:46How do you know these guys? And it's like, oh, my name is
- 30:49Mike Quinn. I was inside, Jabba, the Hutt
- 30:51and I also did nine numb. And I'm every character from
- 30:55Star Wars you love, and then you talk to this guy.
- 30:58And I'm like, I point to the next guy, and I'm like this guy
- 31:00thinks he's been in a bunch, he's like, oh, I'm the voice of
- 31:02Johnny 5 and you're like, what? Like everybody, everybody just
- 31:06has as some sort of like insane. In story or prolific character
- 31:12that they've played and it's like you mentioned Peter wins
- 31:15before. Like, you know, like how many
- 31:16characters like beloved characters is like everybody is
- 31:20a genius and it's crazy. So it was that London was London
- 31:25was a lot more like me. Annoying, people backstage or
- 31:28being like tell me every story about Jedi like or like working
- 31:32on? Yeah, working on Fraggle Rock
- 31:34like you know, and stuff like that.
- 31:35So That's what it's like for us. We get to see the whole lot to
- 31:40tell me everything about this one.
- 31:42This one little job that you did like 30 years.
- 31:45That's like that's what this entire interview is Bobby.
- 31:49Tell us all about that. One thing you did.
- 31:51Yeah. How do the Doozers?
- 31:56I think they're alive. That's magnets.
- 31:58Yeah, I think they're real, they're dumb.
- 32:00I had friends at the O2 shows who went and watched and they
- 32:06they said pills, I don't know that it had been announced that
- 32:09it was you until the day of I think at least they didn't know
- 32:13it was you until the day of and they were a trailing.
- 32:16So they knew who you were, they'd seen SNL but they said
- 32:20you came out and people will like Who?
- 32:24And then they said by the end people are going, oh my God,
- 32:26that sounds so good. I think you made a bunch of fans
- 32:29just from that show alone. That's good to hear.
- 32:34Yeah my favorite was my favorite thing that's ever happened.
- 32:37To me was just like A couple months later, I was just looking
- 32:42like a CVS and I turned a corner in this little kid was just
- 32:45staring at me, but like staring at me with, like, eyes of the
- 32:51terror, like, you know, like, and I just went to you look
- 32:54like, I went like, are you okay, and he just went, are you the
- 32:57Muppet man? And I was, I had just done it.
- 33:03So I was like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah, he just like, ran away.
- 33:06But I was like that and he, and being known to anyone as the
- 33:09Muppet, man, whatever. Loved if he just looking.
- 33:11It looked at you and go on a eugenic pick and pull.
- 33:15Tell me about it. Until I want to give him 10
- 33:17grand. I do love that character up.
- 33:19That's such a like, a like a spy thing to like.
- 33:22Like he sidled up next to you on a bench, wearing a trench coat.
- 33:25Yeah. It was very view.
- 33:26A briefcase very peculiar. Are you the Muppet man?
- 33:31That's creepy. Sorry.
- 33:32You said, pull the Happy Feet was your favorite moment.
- 33:36Have you got other favorite moment from the show?
- 33:38Like, one or two things that really stand out?
- 33:42Definitely, I would they wrote they said they said like thank
- 33:46you so much for coming out here and doing this as their because
- 33:50you're doing so many of these things as they're like something
- 33:53you want to do. And I was like mmmm if you're
- 33:56asking, I was like, I would love to do something with Gonzo in
- 34:00some capacity. Just me and Gonzo.
- 34:03And they wrote this like whole thing where me and Gonzo go back
- 34:06and forth and like it was the greatest, it was absolutely
- 34:11wonderful. Awful.
- 34:12But like now looking back, like I think I was so focused on that
- 34:16because I was such a huge Dave goals fan and Gonzo fan that
- 34:20like what? But when I go back and look at
- 34:21it, like the whole of the whole Comedians a bear bit with Fozzie
- 34:32like that. Like, that blows my mind.
- 34:34Like, I can't believe I got to do this, like, Vaudeville bit
- 34:37with Fonzie, and with Ozzy, and like the Swedish Chef bit.
- 34:41Like, there's just so many famous things pigs in space like
- 34:44that. Like, SNL used to afford me.
- 34:47This this, this Niche that I would get to scratch which is
- 34:51like, hey, this week, your get to be in a Madman Sketcher.
- 34:54Hey, this week, you get to be in a Star Wars sketch or something
- 34:57that you love or like a lord of the Sketch and you get to jump
- 35:00into these worlds that you adore.
- 35:03And that was that. Was that like?
- 35:05It was insane. Yeah, that's it.
- 35:12I would love to ask you more about about, like, your own
- 35:16fandom and like, you know, like nowadays, especially now that
- 35:19you have a kid, is this something that you still revisit
- 35:23a lot? Do you like, put on The Muppet
- 35:24Show or the movies? If, so, like what are, what are
- 35:27some of the ones that kind of make the play over and over
- 35:29again for you? Yeah, it's interesting her like
- 35:33we, I have my garage is filled with Muppets full-size, Muppets
- 35:39and Mike. She knows them.
- 35:42She has the machine has, she's not surprised by like giant
- 35:46Muppets anymore, and, and like, but like her first introduction
- 35:51was Muppet Babies. The new one, the new Muppet
- 35:54Babies and great. And she loves it and it's
- 35:57fantastic. And like, that's how she got
- 35:59into it. And like when she first started
- 36:01Seeing the real Muppet. She was like, yeah, I want the
- 36:03cartoon like and it was, it was interesting, but I also didn't
- 36:07want to force it on her, but now whenever she sees Muppet stuff,
- 36:13she loves it. She how can she not?
- 36:16She grew up on Sesame Street, like she knows all about it.
- 36:20She's a She was a big fan of Elmo because Elmo had a goldfish
- 36:26named Dorothy which is her name. So she was have you have you
- 36:30shown her honey? This is me on Sesame Street.
- 36:34Look, I think she saw. I think like it came on TV once
- 36:40and she saw it, but I don't think she was young enough to
- 36:42understand what was happening and I think now she just that's
- 36:45when you come back out with the hat on and be like, yeah, yeah,
- 36:49well, I guess you don't. You don't think I have that?
- 36:51Once a week, running around this house.
- 36:59Yes, exactly. Do you have?
- 37:07Do you have like a be all end all like greatest mother
- 37:09production of all time for you personally like some people it's
- 37:13the movies or it's the Muppet Show or like one specific
- 37:17episode of a TV show like a thing that I love.
- 37:22What like like your absolute favorite, your favorite like
- 37:25that? You had to boil down here, to
- 37:27show someone like, like a, like, a muppet production of the has
- 37:30never heard of The Muppets before, you know, what would you
- 37:32be showing them? Oh, I think like, you guy mean
- 37:36like, it might be great Muppet. Caper some maybe that Christmas
- 37:42Eve on sick. If I like if I gotta keep one
- 37:45thing and the only thing I can keep Muppets, I can only keep
- 37:48one thing. I keep John Denver in The
- 37:50Muppets Christmas. Um, that's oh yeah.
- 37:53Well and I think that's it. Anything Gonzo, Gonzo singing,
- 37:59I'm going to go back there. Some days, the greatest /
- 38:03saddest moment in cinematic. History, did you did you get to
- 38:09talk to Paul Williams about that?
- 38:10When, when you were both of the Hollywood Bowl show?
- 38:13I not about that moment. I talked to him about going
- 38:16golfing, he talked about going golfing, we never did, but he
- 38:20was so kind. And so Wonderful and so nice but
- 38:25we he is the nicest. We did make plans to go golfing
- 38:28and then never did and I don't golf.
- 38:30I mean, you've reminded me He seemed really, really invited me
- 38:34golfing once. And I was like it does fall
- 38:37under never wanted to know how to golf more than that in this
- 38:41moment right now, like it killed me inside that I had to say I
- 38:45wanted to Surf you just can I just hold the club's?
- 38:47I don't know. He just sized up Muppet fans, 20
- 38:52years ago and he's like, I know, none of these nerds play golf
- 38:55and I'm just going to ask him so I can get away with it every
- 38:58way. So I look like the good guy.
- 38:59He said to me, what you do. It worked, we interviewed him
- 39:03and he said he is a muppet. He is a muppet by the way.
- 39:06I'm convinced yeah, I'm interviewed him for this podcast
- 39:10a couple of years ago, and he said, oh, I'm in Australia all
- 39:13the time. I'll will go out and have dinner
- 39:16and I was like, yep. Great.
- 39:17And then he's emailed me about something else.
- 39:20Not long ago. He goes.
- 39:21I haven't forgotten. We're gonna go after dinner, and
- 39:22I'm necessarily. And I'm like, yep, great.
- 39:24He's never coming to Australia again.
- 39:26He's never getting, he's never gonna call me back.
- 39:29Let's have dinner. Have a good for him.
- 39:32For have little. Did he know there was gonna be a
- 39:35podcast or three guys. We're gonna come against Paul
- 39:38Williams one day, but it finally, I will say, on my way,
- 39:42we can't get mad at him. You know?
- 39:44How could you on my way to the O2 shows in London?
- 39:51I was standing at customs and like I had like some sort of
- 39:57priority like because it's like a Muppets thing.
- 40:00They hire someone to travel, you know, the thing with you but
- 40:05ever and I end up on this line and it's just me and another guy
- 40:09and the other guy is Mel Brooks. Oh, and I'm like, what?
- 40:17What Mel, Brooks turns to me? I have, I don't think I'm Mel
- 40:22Brooks. He's like Moynihan, what we're
- 40:23doing. What are you doing?
- 40:24Where are you going? I'm like - well, what are you
- 40:27talking about? I don't know what to say.
- 40:31So I go. I'm going to work with the
- 40:33Muppets and one that he's like, tells are the Muppets.
- 40:35I used to work with the Muppet, still Kermit.
- 40:37I said hi, funniest thing I've ever heard in my life.
- 40:40I end up talking to Mel Brooks for 25 minutes.
- 40:43Customs about the Muppets it. Wow, that's a real pinch me
- 40:47moment. Yeah, it was nice.
- 40:50That's something like a fever dream.
- 40:51Are you sure that happened? Super jet-lagged.
- 40:57No, I wish I wish, you know, he's the, he's the kindest.
- 41:01He I met him. I had met him once before at the
- 41:03Emmys and like, it's, he's like one of those guys like Martin
- 41:08Short, where you just go. How are you?
- 41:09How, where do you have this energy from?
- 41:11I'm 45. Mm.
- 41:12Yeah, I want to die. I'm 33 and I'm tired.
- 41:17I'm tired. All the time Bobby.
- 41:18Here's Mel, Brooks. Didn't Martin shun 40.
- 41:22I'm fine. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:24You pick up. It'll wake up in three years.
- 41:27No, I'm just caffeinate. Engaging like all day long.
- 41:32It's all I do is I just inject coffee directly into my
- 41:35eyeballs. So Bobby, you've already hosted
- 41:41The Muppet Show, which I think, for a lot of people myself
- 41:43included would be kind of the Apex of anyone's career.
- 41:49But do you have ideas for other mother projects that you would
- 41:53like to do? Of course, I mean a million.
- 41:56Yeah. My mom talked about a few of
- 41:59them are, do you like keeping to yourself?
- 42:01I mean, I should put them all out there just because like, at
- 42:03this point, I really wanted Mike like my dream right now is to do
- 42:07a butt like a butt like Fast and the Furious Style movie with me
- 42:12and Gonzo, it's brothers. And, and just do like a fast and
- 42:17the furious Style movie with the Muppets and just like super fast
- 42:20cars with super big action like a big bass in A furious style
- 42:25action movie with the Muppets is my dream right now like that.
- 42:29Both of those franchises are all about family, so there you go.
- 42:32You're halfway there. Yeah.
- 42:34And I don't understand why I like Muppet Babies style like
- 42:38like, they would always be like, look, The Muppets in Star Wars
- 42:42or the Muppets in this. And I'm like, I don't understand
- 42:44why they don't just make those movies like every good movie.
- 42:47Just be remaking again with the Muppets.
- 42:51I don't know. They say, every Gonna Wanna Make
- 42:53it better. With Muppet.
- 42:55Yeah, just make it but them up, make it again with the Muppets
- 42:57and that's it. Yeah.
- 43:00I'm actually genuinely surprised that they haven't done like a
- 43:03muppet Star Wars film. Like it's all under the Disney
- 43:06umbrella. Like everyone loves pixels ass.
- 43:08Like I do imagine it coming. Back in back in the day when
- 43:13like Mark Hamill was on the show and like Gonzo was Darth Vader.
- 43:17Like that was like the big. That was the greatest day.
- 43:19Heather did it. And Mark Hamill still loves The
- 43:22Muppets. Like he tweets about them all
- 43:23the time. Like there's like he would do it
- 43:25in a heartbeat. I think it's time.
- 43:27All right. So if they make Marcus towels,
- 43:30who are you gonna play Bobby? Wow.
- 43:36I would like to play some sort of new characters, some sort of
- 43:40alien Beast or something. I don't know.
- 43:42You want to be an alien. Not not like a Jedi or like a
- 43:45Han Solo Rogue type. You want to you want to put on
- 43:47some Prosthetics? Yeah yeah I think I want to go
- 43:51full great Papa. Fulfill something for weird
- 43:55right we'll pick you all out full Java sounds a little
- 43:58uncomfortable. I don't know about that one.
- 43:59I disagree, I disagree. I would love to be a little slug
- 44:02man. Honestly, I am just be carried
- 44:07around on the biggest want to be inside a puppet and
- 44:10uncomfortable for like in the desert to that.
- 44:18Yeah. That's the dream.
- 44:19Right? And experience better ass off
- 44:22inside a plastic, you mentioned for the art nature cat before
- 44:27which for people who don't know, is David Friedman and his
- 44:31brother Adam created. Do you work much?
- 44:35I'd like to. I don't know if that shows still
- 44:37going. Yes, though.
- 44:40Yeah, yeah. Do you work much with David?
- 44:44Yeah. Yeah, but yeah, but whenever I
- 44:48record, I record with either of the brothers, either, either one
- 44:52of them are both. Yeah.
- 44:55Usually every time so when you're, you know, when you might
- 44:58be recording, I you, you know, do a taken thing.
- 45:02I remember that one time in that one sketch that we did or hey,
- 45:07you remember that one time when you did that one thing, or are
- 45:09you just sort of like, no, I have to be professional here.
- 45:11I have to just do my lines. Now with Dave with David now, I
- 45:16think Like we've worked together long enough.
- 45:18It's been a couple years that I'm like, please, I'm like, my
- 45:21only thing is like, I'm like, please just, don't make me sing.
- 45:24Okay, nature cat is, there's a lot of songs and it and I'm just
- 45:28at my wife is a Broadway singer. And I now hate the sound of my
- 45:33own singing voice. So I just beg him to not.
- 45:36Let me sing. How'd the dog that I play on
- 45:39nature, cat? In all the songs in like season
- 45:43three and four just starts going like, yep.
- 45:46You got it. A lot of tags at the end of
- 45:52lines. That's fun.
- 45:55Yeah good. So all right we'll take out the
- 45:57musical number that we usually end this podcast with thank you.
- 46:01I appreciate your. It's going to you're going to do
- 46:02better. Yeah.
- 46:03Right. You know what?
- 46:04We'll leave the musical number in but we just need you to chime
- 46:07in at the end and just go. Yep.
- 46:09Yeah that I gonna do does and in the okay.
- 46:17You know, you've having worked with the Muppets at the
- 46:20Hollywood Bowl in the O2 and at Sesame Street, like, you were on
- 46:23the street, I feel like you kind of, like, covered the gamut of
- 46:26working with with, like, core characters.
- 46:28But is there a character, whether it's a core character,
- 46:32or like an obscure one that you've always wanted to work
- 46:35with that? You just haven't had the chance
- 46:36yet. We'll see that's like too big to
- 46:40be honest, like no. Like that's the weird thing is
- 46:42like When I did Sesame Street, I was in a, I was in stuff with
- 46:48like Telly and like that was it a?
- 46:52But, but like, I don't know if I was just lucky or if they were
- 46:57had a slow day, but there were people around that were like,
- 47:00you got a minute you and like, they would open up a closet and
- 47:03like all of us, like, open up, not a closet, but like these
- 47:06special made bins that they have.
- 47:09And all of a sudden, it's all of Sesame Street.
- 47:13Like, you know, it's We character, and you're just like
- 47:16what? And and I got to like, see that
- 47:19and hang out, like I got like a great deal of time with with,
- 47:23with, with them. And then, then at the at the O2
- 47:27thing, it's like, you know, you have a 12-hour rehearsal and
- 47:31you're sitting backstage with every single Muppet and like
- 47:36some of them like five different versions or 12 different
- 47:39versions. Like there's 12 different
- 47:41versions of piggy, because of all of her out.
- 47:44Outfits in her hair cuts and like stuff and like, there's the
- 47:47Kermit, the half, Kermit the full body Kermit, the Kermit
- 47:51that can play the banjo the Kermit that like and like, it's
- 47:54you just go, like, holding this is the best I can.
- 47:59It was it's so like no II. Like I got to see like all of
- 48:04them on that, like, every single Muppet I got to work with on
- 48:08that tour and then like maybe like Fraggle Rock and like,
- 48:11stuff like that, I haven't gotten to see up close.
- 48:15But like it's built on. Yeah, that's built on.
- 48:18Yeah, wimbley has faced a web well and I appreciate no, that's
- 48:23a good answer but I got better appreciate that for you.
- 48:25It's so much more about like having a moment with the
- 48:28characters as opposed to like, no, no, I want to be in a sketch
- 48:30that's on television that a 8 million people see.
- 48:34Like, it's not about that. It's about like, no, no.
- 48:37This character means a lot to me.
- 48:38And I got to like, you know, say hello to Lou Zealand or I got to
- 48:42like, you know, yeah, it's a good photo of Fozzie Bear, or
- 48:44what Ever yeah yeah but also like even just like for me it
- 48:48was like the honor of like being able to like inspect them up
- 48:52close and just look at it. You just go like damn, these
- 48:54things are beautiful. Like somebody made these like
- 48:57this thing cost. 50 Grand, we get something beautiful.
- 49:01Like, it's a real crazy art and like they make these things come
- 49:07alive, and it's really beautiful.
- 49:10Yeah. Did you did you steal anything
- 49:14from the the Hollywood Bowl show for the audition?
- 49:18No, no, I would never. I would never.
- 49:20I also like I think they saw that coming.
- 49:22A mile away. They were like, don't even try
- 49:24it, but they did give me some stuff.
- 49:27They gave me some like a couple thoughts Williams.
- 49:30He's just sitting in your garage.
- 49:32I wish I wish. I wish know.
- 49:36Like, like I got to keep like a bunch of Props and stuff like, a
- 49:41couple like Fozzie had, like, there was like, the bit I did
- 49:44with Fozzie and he had his first record and like they had these
- 49:47Breakaway records that would snap in half, like, I have a
- 49:50bunch of those like, but like nothing.
- 49:54I didn't get to like, that's okay.
- 49:55I don't have like a. Yeah, I don't have Piggies foot
- 49:57or anything or if you did. You're not going to reveal it on
- 50:03the podcast. If I could have stolen anything,
- 50:05I would have stolen the doctor strange version of that, was a
- 50:10good one. Oh, how cool is it?
- 50:12Like a god? Gonzo and like a genie outfit
- 50:15floating and I was like, definitely.
- 50:16Like that's the one that's that's the that thing is
- 50:18beautiful. What I really would have liked
- 50:20him to have made which obviously, we're never going to
- 50:23work. Was maybe, dr.
- 50:25Strange board macduff French Port.
- 50:27Well, talking about pigs in space, is, I would have liked
- 50:30it. They'd made a little like
- 50:31figurines of all the Muppets as the various doctors from the
- 50:35Doctor Who part when they all regenerate, right?
- 50:38Because I want a little Little Walter with The Fez.
- 50:42The bow tie, the little Matt Smith dr.
- 50:44I was like, I'm really upset than ever made those I think
- 50:48well now with 3D printing. I think you can just simply go
- 50:50to write books, you can do it. All right.
- 50:53I'll get on it. Joe.
- 50:55Anything else before we eat? We need Disney to buy.
- 50:58We need just need to buy the Doctor Who for I mean didn't
- 51:01they just do that the same feel like well yeah yeah sure.
- 51:08They they're all talking about get there.
- 51:10Here's the thing is like I just want Disney to my complaint
- 51:13about this in every every podcast I ever do.
- 51:15I just want to see you make more mother Merchandise.
- 51:17So I'm always coming with it with bad ideas, for them of
- 51:21things that I want to buy and that's one of the, or on Disney
- 51:24up in on this area. Very obscure.
- 51:26Yeah, it seems like I'm blanking on the name of the woman in
- 51:31charge now but it seems like she's going in a fantastically
- 51:34threatened with yes lovely Slaughter and Lee a meteor hits
- 51:41the fan sites which is great for us.
- 51:43Yeah we're good we're very grateful and like that.
- 51:47Name. Well, you said before that, you
- 51:48know, they're very much a family.
- 51:50She has said to us multiple time.
- 51:52Now, you guys are part of the family and so she's really made
- 51:55us feel included. That's awesome.
- 51:57That makes me happy. She sounds great, and that's who
- 51:59they need in charge are fleeing, right?
- 52:01And she's a fan to, which is what we want.
- 52:04We want someone who likes the Muppets and wants to see fun
- 52:07Muppet things come out of, the Muppets department is also in
- 52:10charge of what the Muppets are making.
- 52:12So that seems like a good love her.
- 52:14Well, it came, I mean, Example, is the Muppet Show and Disney
- 52:19plus, she got in charge and said, why isn't the muppet show
- 52:22on Disney plus yet? And they said, I could we have
- 52:24to do a bunch of stuff with like music rocks.
- 52:26She went where Disney go and do it and they went.
- 52:30Oh, okay. And she's like, let's just
- 52:31actually get it done. People want it, let's give it to
- 52:34them. And so soon as I should tell me
- 52:36that story. I was like, ah, I think I'm in
- 52:38love. Just like the perfect person and
- 52:40a and again, she's a fellow Aussie, so I'm happy we're gonna
- 52:45take over. And, and you all know each other
- 52:49over there. I mean, well, that's funny.
- 52:51She told me she's to live, like, 15 minutes that way.
- 52:54So we could have, that's crazy Bobby.
- 52:59We usually wrap up with with a set of questions, I have my own
- 53:04Joe has his own. As I brought you one, I'll be
- 53:08giving you mine, just click as you.
- 53:10Like just answer as you wish. What is the food that you hate?
- 53:16Beats. Oh, I love Bates.
- 53:20I hate, enjoy be okay. Okay, we'll take your tickets,
- 53:24that's fine. I came home, one night and my
- 53:2720s in my and thinking might get my dad.
- 53:30Had put like a bunch of beets with pasta, and I thought it was
- 53:34pasta with marinara and I ate it and it was the most disgusting
- 53:37thing I've ever had my life and I'm never have, I still don't
- 53:40know why he made out how to do it.
- 53:42What if they tell you? You can only, we could.
- 53:45What if they tell you, you can only work at the muppets again,
- 53:47if you ate a whole bowl of Bates, I would do it.
- 53:52I thought so everyone has their price that's the correct answer.
- 53:55Just it's just it's just a bowl of bean and that's right.
- 53:59What is your go-to karaoke song? Oh, not not those this this,
- 54:05whatever the shortest song in the world, I will say back in
- 54:11the day when I was fun. I would do Come Sail Away by
- 54:16state by Sticks, but as Eric Cartman.
- 54:19Yeah, great. Oh, yeah.
- 54:21And nowadays ever, Andre and nowadays, you just let the song,
- 54:24play the music play, and then again, go.
- 54:26Yeah. Yeah, I like or I just pretend
- 54:30my mic doesn't work. Start tapping it and then sit
- 54:32down. What is the sound of one hand
- 54:35clapping? All that is bright.
- 54:40That's it, that noise. We figured it out.
- 54:42I know it's unsettling. Yes, very much.
- 54:46So I don't really get here. That was good.
- 54:49Pick a number between one and two hundred fifty. 19:19.
- 54:53All right I have a list of 250 questions.
- 54:56He number 19 is which meal is your favorite breakfast, lunch
- 55:00or dinner? Dinner.
- 55:05Good choice. What you go to, what's your
- 55:07favorite deer? Which favorite meal?
- 55:11Chinese food or right? Choice.
- 55:14They be cheeseburger. Yeah.
- 55:17Now I'm just now. I'm just hungry.
- 55:19Yeah. Anything without beats?
- 55:21Yeah? Yeah.
- 55:22Anything beatless in our last episode, our last guest a bit.
- 55:28Nicole Brown. Not knowing who I guess was
- 55:30going. Yeah, wanted us to ask you, what
- 55:32is your favorite Muppet song? Oh, I love her.
- 55:37Um, at stake. The second you said that the
- 55:43first thing they can well, it's that Gonzo song is like my
- 55:46favorite. I just love, Gonzo like that
- 55:48song. Happiness Hotel is like a, my
- 55:50favorite. It's like my favorite thing in
- 55:52the world, my daughter. Just sang it at, like, their
- 55:54kindergarten thing. I couldn't believe it was the
- 55:56most beautiful thing in the world, but I think it's can you
- 56:00picture that? I think it might be.
- 56:01Can you picture that the second you said that song?
- 56:04That's the first thing that comes to mind.
- 56:05It's fantastic, Electric Mayhem all the way.
- 56:09Next is the first thing that you pictured was.
- 56:10Can you picture that? Yes.
- 56:11Could exactly correct. And finally with that knowing
- 56:15who it is, what question would you like am next guest to
- 56:18answer? Um, oh boy.
- 56:23That's a lot of. Okay?
- 56:26If they could, if they could cast any movie with the Muppets,
- 56:33recast any movie with the Muppets, what would it be?
- 56:37I love it. That's a great question.
- 56:40Yep. Bobby.
- 56:42I can't. Thank you, enough.
- 56:43This is genuinely, like, I've all remember the first time I
- 56:47saw drunk uncle many, many years ago, and I just immediately
- 56:50went. I don't know who this guy is,
- 56:51but I love him. Thank you.
- 56:54And then, and then honestly, you'd be in the top five SNL
- 56:58cast members for me of all time. And I'm so glad you got to do
- 57:06all this Market stuff, and I'm so glad you're part of Family
- 57:08and I'm so glad I got to talk to you, so thank you.
- 57:12Thanks man, same here. That's why I did it II,
- 57:16appreciate it. And I appreciate fellow fan.
- 57:19Yes, and thank you for me as well.
- 57:21This has been such a joy to get to spend this time with you and
- 57:24to talk to you and geek out where you about Muppets.
- 57:26And, you know, we I made a list of long time ago of like people
- 57:31who I really wanted to interview that.
- 57:33Like I know for a fact like I could tell because of the way
- 57:36they talk about it interviews or Or way they've worked with the
- 57:38Muppets. They'll like these are our
- 57:40celebrities who are like huge Muppet fans, and you have been
- 57:43very much at the top of that list for a long time.
- 57:45So, I'm glad we finally got this opportunity.
- 57:47So it's been a just such a treat, same here.
- 57:50That's the best absolute blast.
