- 0:01Dave Hamilton: Business brain episode 769 for casual friday ai july 10th shannon i have a question
- 0:09Dave Hamilton: for you uh yes do you like pina coladas.
- 0:15Shannon Jean: No oh well i do
- 0:16Dave Hamilton: Not well then you can escape because today is national pina colada day 2026 i know.
- 0:24Shannon Jean: That's nice what's that uh stand it what's the part other part of that song pina coladas and
- 0:28Dave Hamilton: Getting caught in the rain.
- 0:30Shannon Jean: Getting caught in the rain i do like getting caught in the rain
- 0:32Dave Hamilton: Same i do too yeah i also think that song is one of the most romantic songs
- 0:36Dave Hamilton: that exists and i know it's about a couple that that planned on cheating on
- 0:40Dave Hamilton: each other yeah and found each other Yes. It's great.
- 0:44Shannon Jean: You know what they say, there's no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes.
- 0:48Dave Hamilton: You have the wrong clothes. That's what they say in Canada.
- 0:53Dave Hamilton: I don't know that we say that here in the United States, but it's true in Canada.
- 0:57Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah. It's just the wrong clothes.
- 1:00Dave Hamilton: Hey, guess what, Shannon? Tell me. I made 10 grand by surprise last week.
- 1:05Shannon Jean: Really? Yeah. I like that. That's exciting. Yeah, it was. Tell me more.
- 1:09Shannon Jean: How can I make 10 grand by surprise?
- 1:10Dave Hamilton: Well, that's the thing is you can't plan for surprises, although I would like
- 1:15Dave Hamilton: to say that I kind of planned for this surprise.
- 1:19Dave Hamilton: AI definitely helped me with it. Okay. I, over the years, have bought a bunch
- 1:24Dave Hamilton: of different domains for a bunch of different reasons.
- 1:27Dave Hamilton: And by and large, I keep renewing them. I don't let them expire.
- 1:33Dave Hamilton: And I'm not going to share the domain only because I've shared the price and,
- 1:39Dave Hamilton: I don't need to share someone else's business, right? Like, I would be fine
- 1:44Dave Hamilton: telling you what domain I sold for 10 grand.
- 1:47Dave Hamilton: But I did. I sold a domain for 10 grand last week.
- 1:48Shannon Jean: Congratulations.
- 1:49Dave Hamilton: That's awesome. It was not a domain that I had put on the block.
- 1:53Dave Hamilton: I got one of those emails through my registrar. I use Cloudflare and I,
- 1:59Dave Hamilton: you know, it's all private. So the email comes from Cloudflare and It's like,
- 2:02Dave Hamilton: you got an email from this person interested in your domain.
- 2:06Dave Hamilton: And the way they worded their email was basically like all of the other tire
- 2:10Dave Hamilton: kickers that have ever shown up in the last 20 whatever years that I've been
- 2:15Dave Hamilton: owning to 30 years that I've been owning domains.
- 2:17Dave Hamilton: And this particular domain I owned for 21 years when I from when I registered
- 2:22Dave Hamilton: it. And it was a good domain. Yeah, it is a good domain. Yep.
- 2:25Dave Hamilton: But I had no use for it. Obviously, I wasn't using it.
- 2:29Dave Hamilton: But uh so i got this email and it was like well i should reply which,
- 2:35Dave Hamilton: in the past i have not so this is the lesson here right is i took it and i fed
- 2:41Dave Hamilton: it into claude and i i said all right look here's this email,
- 2:45Dave Hamilton: how do i go about valuing a domain that has no,
- 2:49Dave Hamilton: cash flow assigned to it like it it's literally just sitting there completely
- 2:53Dave Hamilton: unused but clearly it has value,
- 2:58Dave Hamilton: and uh And Claude was like, all right, well, here's these websites that,
- 3:01Dave Hamilton: you know, will value domains and this, that, and the other thing.
- 3:04Dave Hamilton: And it did its own little analysis. And I did my own analysis.
- 3:09Dave Hamilton: And I came up with a number that was somewhere between six and eight grand.
- 3:14Dave Hamilton: And and so, you know, Claude and I collaborated on how to reply to this email,
- 3:21Dave Hamilton: and I really thought it was just going to go nowhere, obviously.
- 3:24Dave Hamilton: And so I was like, all right, you know what? I'm going to I'm going to tell
- 3:27Dave Hamilton: this person that my price is 15K and we'll see what happens.
- 3:33Dave Hamilton: You know, we'll we'll come in high, higher than I think it's worth.
- 3:37Dave Hamilton: But again, I don't know who this person is.
- 3:40Dave Hamilton: I know that sometimes when even large companies especially when large companies
- 3:46Dave Hamilton: want to buy domains they send someone out personally that has no relation to the large company to go,
- 3:53Dave Hamilton: and hunt because if you know who's buying your price may change right that's
- 3:57Dave Hamilton: right so i kind of assumed okay this is a large company i you know we all know
- 4:01Dave Hamilton: it's worth you know let's say 7 500 bucks so let's double the price and see what happens and,
- 4:09Dave Hamilton: um i don't know four days later maybe something like that i got an email back
- 4:12Dave Hamilton: from them and and there was we claude and i you know had a whole like cascading
- 4:17Dave Hamilton: decision tree about how to negotiate with the person who replied or whatever,
- 4:22Dave Hamilton: and the person came back and they're like yes,
- 4:25Dave Hamilton: uh i i can't do 15 i can do 10 and i looked uh uh,
- 4:30Dave Hamilton: and And I had mentioned something about if you're ready to move forward, we can use escrow.com.
- 4:35Dave Hamilton: And, you know, we can keep the fees pretty low.
- 4:39Dave Hamilton: And they came back and they were like, yeah, I can do 10. And I looked at escrow.com
- 4:43Dave Hamilton: and it looks like I can, they said this, I can absorb the fees.
- 4:47Dave Hamilton: So the net to me was going to be 10 even, you know, I wasn't paying any fees.
- 4:50Shannon Jean: Nice, man.
- 4:51Dave Hamilton: Yep. And I knew that my response was going to be yes at that point,
- 4:56Dave Hamilton: not to try and nudge them up to 11 or something.
- 4:58Dave Hamilton: Yeah, that's right. Because I knew we were already above what my internal number was for this.
- 5:03Shannon Jean: Yeah, that's smart. I love it.
- 5:06Dave Hamilton: And Claude agreed. Claude was like, okay, whoa.
- 5:08Dave Hamilton: I know we plan to negotiate, but you're already where you, you know,
- 5:12Dave Hamilton: like there was an agreement there. Yeah.
- 5:14Dave Hamilton: And and so I like we went forward and at the moment that we're recording this,
- 5:21Dave Hamilton: I have not received the funds because they're in process from escrow dot com to me.
- 5:27Dave Hamilton: OK, but escrow dot com has approved like like the domain is no longer in my
- 5:33Dave Hamilton: Cloudflare account. Like, I've given the domain away.
- 5:36Dave Hamilton: Escrow.com has said they've dispersed the funds to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:40Dave Hamilton: Escrow.com's on the hook if I don't get the funds, which is fine. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 5:44Shannon Jean: No, they're great. I've used it for two. Yeah. It's such a great example.
- 5:47Shannon Jean: First, congratulations. Thank you.
- 5:48Shannon Jean: That's awesome. That's more than I've only, I've gotten $5,000 from one of my
- 5:53Shannon Jean: domains. And hopefully that paid for, I'm not sure I'm in the black for domain owners.
- 6:00Dave Hamilton: Yeah, exactly. Same.
- 6:01Shannon Jean: But I have a hard time not registering them whenever I'm like, oh, that's a good one.
- 6:07Shannon Jean: But what I love about that story is the using AI as a collaborator, right?
- 6:14Shannon Jean: Where you're bouncing things back and forth. And I've shifted the way I use
- 6:20Shannon Jean: Claude and Perplexity and even ChatGPT a lot in the last few months of more
- 6:25Shannon Jean: of this collaboration mode where I'm, you know, what
- 6:30Shannon Jean: is – what is that mark cuban made that statement he said there's some people are using ai to learn
- 6:38Shannon Jean: everything yeah right all kinds of new things sure other people are using ai to learn nothing
- 6:44Shannon Jean: right because they're just trying to get it to do the work but this collaboration
- 6:47Shannon Jean: mode where you're back and forth hey here's a situation and i want you to look
- 6:52Shannon Jean: at this what are the things you need ask me questions let's put it together it's such a powerful uh
- 6:58Dave Hamilton: System i don't think i would have sold this domain at all were it not for claude
- 7:04Dave Hamilton: and i like the opportunity still would have been there obviously it wasn't an
- 7:09Dave Hamilton: ai buying the domain it was a real human with real dollars right,
- 7:13Dave Hamilton: but i think i would have talked myself out of selling it because even when it
- 7:18Dave Hamilton: was all said and done it was literally,
- 7:20Dave Hamilton: the i was i was 15 minutes late to my daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner or
- 7:27Dave Hamilton: rehearsal because i had to set up the escrow.com account to like you know get
- 7:31Dave Hamilton: this process rolling it was fine it was all good doesn't matter yeah yeah,
- 7:34Dave Hamilton: i'm the father of the bride i can as she said You can do no wrong.
- 7:37Shannon Jean: You're the least important person, right? Yeah, but like,
- 7:40Dave Hamilton: When it comes down to it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll start when you're here.
- 7:44Dave Hamilton: I'm like, great, perfect. Yeah.
- 7:46Dave Hamilton: That's cool. But like, I...
- 7:50Dave Hamilton: I think I even once all of this started happening, I did have that moment of
- 7:55Dave Hamilton: hesitation, like, should I sell this or might I do something with it someday?
- 8:00Dave Hamilton: And yeah. And because I had sort of gone through this with Claude,
- 8:03Dave Hamilton: it was like, I know I haven't done anything with this domain in 21 years.
- 8:07Shannon Jean: Chances of you. Right.
- 8:09Dave Hamilton: It's it's slim. Yeah. So but like, had I not had the confidential collaborator that Claude is. Yeah.
- 8:20Dave Hamilton: You know, I had no enough, no one to be embarrassed with. Like,
- 8:23Dave Hamilton: I didn't need to ask dumb questions of somebody else.
- 8:27Dave Hamilton: And these are dumb questions that I knew the answer to, but I needed to see the answer confirmed.
- 8:32Dave Hamilton: And that value of AI is huge. I mean, it's the same reason that it's great for
- 8:38Dave Hamilton: the, you know, procrastination eliminator. Right. Like, it's all that stuff.
- 8:44Dave Hamilton: So like i i i really love it when i say that ai made me 10 grand last week i
- 8:50Dave Hamilton: mean it i really think i would have talked myself out of selling this were it
- 8:53Dave Hamilton: not for the obvious answers i was getting from claude.
- 8:56Shannon Jean: Yeah yeah and it goes to the point we had a we did a show a few weeks ago where we talked about
- 9:01Shannon Jean: using ai for just everyday situations that pop up yeah more so than oh i got
- 9:06Shannon Jean: to do this big project so i'm going to do it but hey it's just things that are coming up in the day
- 9:11Shannon Jean: how to communicate in situations that you haven't done before how to analyze
- 9:15Shannon Jean: things that you're not familiar with like domain sales and all that kind of
- 9:18Shannon Jean: stuff it's it's it's just a uh
- 9:20Shannon Jean: it's great to have them as uh
- 9:23Shannon Jean: you know collaborator
- 9:24Dave Hamilton: Yeah that collaborator yeah it was great yeah yeah yeah so there you go yeah
- 9:28Dave Hamilton: it's awesome whether it pays for my uh,
- 9:32Dave Hamilton: the history of of you know the last two and a half decades of registering and
- 9:38Dave Hamilton: renewing domains is irrelevant what it definitely pays for is my subscription to claude,
- 9:44Dave Hamilton: and that like so claude has more than paid for itself for me and that i mean
- 9:50Dave Hamilton: that was true before this happened too like but
- 9:52Dave Hamilton: you know now it's like in in actual dollars here we go so yeah it's pretty good
- 9:57Dave Hamilton: it's great man yeah great story yeah yeah and there's a there's a freedom that
- 10:00Dave Hamilton: comes with it it's like oh wait now i have a skill,
- 10:04Dave Hamilton: like i've done this once actually i've done it twice i i traded a domain for
- 10:08Dave Hamilton: a mac mini a couple years ago uh.
- 10:11Dave Hamilton: Yeah but which you know it's like okay now like the next time this happens i'm,
- 10:15Dave Hamilton: i'm i'm more confident yeah and it's a hundred percent because of Claude.
- 10:21Dave Hamilton: You know, it's great. Yeah.
- 10:22Dave Hamilton: All right. We have more things to talk about. You have, um, you have somebody
- 10:27Dave Hamilton: that says the AI industry is effing insane. So we will talk about that in a
- 10:31Dave Hamilton: minute. The next thing that we're going to do is I want to tell you about our sponsors.
- 10:36Dave Hamilton: If you've been sitting on a business idea, our sponsor Shopify makes it ridiculously
- 10:42Dave Hamilton: easy to actually start, right?
- 10:44Dave Hamilton: I know because I've done it right. We sell merch for another one of my podcasts
- 10:48Dave Hamilton: and we went from should we even try this to our first sale.
- 10:54Dave Hamilton: In under a day. That's the charmed life moment nobody tells you is possible,
- 10:59Dave Hamilton: except I'm now telling you it is possible.
- 11:03Dave Hamilton: Here's what won me over the checkout. The moment a customer's ready to pay,
- 11:08Dave Hamilton: Shopify checkout helps more of them actually finish.
- 11:12Dave Hamilton: And when they come back, their info's already saved, right? One tap, done.
- 11:17Dave Hamilton: And because Shopify handles all the setup and all the selling,
- 11:20Dave Hamilton: you get your time back to actually grow the thing, right?
- 11:24Dave Hamilton: It's the same platform powering Mattel and Gymshark quietly working for you from day one.
- 11:30Dave Hamilton: I'm convinced my store would keep making sales if I were stranded on a desert
- 11:34Dave Hamilton: island. In fact, I think it has while I've been on a desert island.
- 11:38Dave Hamilton: With Shopify, nothing stands between your idea and a real business. So go make it one.
- 11:45Dave Hamilton: Start your free trial at shopify.com slash business brain.
- 11:50Dave Hamilton: Again, start your free trial at shopify.com slash business brain. Yep.
- 11:54Dave Hamilton: Shopify.com slash business brain is where you want to go. I think you're going
- 11:58Dave Hamilton: to like it as much as we do.
- 11:59Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to Shopify for sponsoring this episode.
- 12:02Dave Hamilton: And as entrepreneurs, we live and die by our laptops and our logins.
- 12:07Dave Hamilton: And one convincing fake invoice email can blow up the charmed life we're all
- 12:12Dave Hamilton: working so hard to build.
- 12:14Dave Hamilton: Small businesses like ours are prime targets for scams that look exactly like
- 12:19Dave Hamilton: client emails, bank notices, employee requests, file sharing links.
- 12:23Dave Hamilton: And one click can lock you out of your own business.
- 12:28Dave Hamilton: Our sponsor, Bitdefender, is a global leader in cybersecurity,
- 12:32Dave Hamilton: and their ultimate small business security tool is built specifically for businesses
- 12:36Dave Hamilton: with 25 or fewer employees who don't have an IT team on standby,
- 12:41Dave Hamilton: which is something I really love.
- 12:42Dave Hamilton: Just because I can be that IT team doesn't mean that's what I have time to be doing every day.
- 12:49Dave Hamilton: You get advanced scam and fraud protection tuned for small business tricks,
- 12:53Dave Hamilton: business reputation and identity monitoring, password management, unlimited VPN,
- 12:58Dave Hamilton: and a simple centralized dashboard so you can secure the whole team without
- 13:03Dave Hamilton: becoming the security department.
- 13:05Dave Hamilton: And that's what I really like about Bitdefender and why I'm happy that we can recommend it to you.
- 13:10Dave Hamilton: Because if my spreadsheets ever
- 13:11Dave Hamilton: achieve sentience, even they would insist that we lock this stuff down.
- 13:16Dave Hamilton: Keep your small business safe with Bitdefender Ultimate Small Business Security
- 13:20Dave Hamilton: and save 30% when you go to bitdefender.com slash brain.
- 13:25Dave Hamilton: That's bitdefender.com slash brain for 30% off. Check it out.
- 13:29Dave Hamilton: I think you're going to really like what you see.
- 13:32Dave Hamilton: And our thanks to Bitdefender for sponsoring this episode.
- 13:35Dave Hamilton: All right, Shannon, so who was this? What happened?
- 13:38Shannon Jean: Yeah, so this is Alex Karp. So he's the CEO of Palantir. Palantir?
- 13:43Shannon Jean: Palantir? Okay. P-E-A-L-N.
- 13:45Shannon Jean: I don't know exactly how you pronounce it, but I think it's just Palantir.
- 13:48Shannon Jean: They're in big data analytics. I don't even know how you'd explain their company.
- 13:53Shannon Jean: Sure. But they do massive amounts of data analysis, lots of stuff for the government
- 13:57Shannon Jean: and private enterprise as well.
- 14:00Shannon Jean: But Alex Karp's an interesting guy.
- 14:05Shannon Jean: He really doesn't hold things back. He's just kind of out there.
- 14:09Shannon Jean: Okay. Love that. He had this conversation. In fact. He had a conversation. Yeah, me too.
- 14:13Shannon Jean: Had this conversation on CNBC.
- 14:15Shannon Jean: I think it was Thursday or maybe even Friday, talking about the AI frontier models, like OpenAI,
- 14:26Shannon Jean: Claude with Anthropic and this kind of stuff, and talking about the reason,
- 14:32Shannon Jean: in his opinion, the whole system is messed up because
- 14:38Shannon Jean: these large enterprise companies are paying for tokens right paying for all
- 14:42Shannon Jean: this usage and these frontier models are hoovering up all their ip
- 14:48Shannon Jean: yeah then training their models on them and then coming out with the solution
- 14:53Shannon Jean: or a product that helps or that competes against those uh those entities for
- 14:59Shannon Jean: sure and i thought about it i was like man i I wonder, is
- 15:05Shannon Jean: I don't know that it impacts small business owners like us, but,
- 15:09Shannon Jean: you know, because we're running all these things. And we've talked about this
- 15:13Shannon Jean: here on the show. Matter of fact, we might even talk about it last week a little bit.
- 15:16Shannon Jean: But it points me to more of that.
- 15:20Shannon Jean: The future is going to be a lot of on-device AI.
- 15:25Dave Hamilton: Oh, yeah. Yeah, for sure.
- 15:26Shannon Jean: Not uploading all your stuff to the cloud.
- 15:30Shannon Jean: Not, you know, using the cloud when it needs it, right? when it needs that extra
- 15:34Shannon Jean: horsepower, I guess, to go out and everything.
- 15:36Shannon Jean: And I was listening to one of my favorite shows I listen to is called All In Podcast.
- 15:41Shannon Jean: And they were talking about this same thing. And the standout sentence was,
- 15:47Shannon Jean: You can't rent intelligence from the same place that rents it to your competitors.
- 15:55Dave Hamilton: Oh.
- 15:56Shannon Jean: And I thought that was pretty interesting because that's what's happening, right?
- 16:01Shannon Jean: All these companies are piling into this AI space and spending a ton of money.
- 16:09Shannon Jean: And I think there's some backlash coming back about, okay, how effective is it really?
- 16:15Shannon Jean: Sure. Sure. What's happening to our IP, they call it their alpha,
- 16:21Shannon Jean: their trade secrets or their whatever it is, your secret sauce,
- 16:25Shannon Jean: your systems, and all that kind of stuff.
- 16:26Shannon Jean: And when I heard that, I was like, that's interesting. You can't rent intelligence
- 16:30Shannon Jean: from the same place it rents it to your competitors.
- 16:33Shannon Jean: And it's wild. And you've seen Claude and OpenAI, probably not OpenAI as much,
- 16:39Shannon Jean: but certainly Anthropic coming out with various different types of Claude.
- 16:45Shannon Jean: Like they just came out with a design level.
- 16:47Dave Hamilton: Yeah. Sure.
- 16:48Shannon Jean: A model. They, they came out with a legal model for lawyers and it came out
- 16:52Shannon Jean: with these other things. So, you know, how are they learning that stuff?
- 16:56Shannon Jean: So it's kind of interesting.
- 16:57Dave Hamilton: Um,
- 17:00Dave Hamilton: I disagree with his statement, at least how I'm interpreting his statement that
- 17:08Dave Hamilton: you can't rent intelligence from the same place that rents it to your competitors. I, to me,
- 17:15Dave Hamilton: I, I've never run a business that relied on a secret way of doing things as
- 17:26Dave Hamilton: our competitive advantage.
- 17:29Dave Hamilton: Okay. Makes sense. Yeah. Makes sense. From my perspective.
- 17:33Shannon Jean: I would say the same thing. There's not. Yeah. It's just the actual showing up and getting it done.
- 17:37Dave Hamilton: Getting it done. Right. Yes. So, like, I've certainly taken the knowledge that
- 17:43Dave Hamilton: is common and applied it in smart ways.
- 17:49Dave Hamilton: Yes. And taken advantage of that many times, including right now with AI.
- 17:57Dave Hamilton: Like the way i am using ai is better than some of my competition not all of
- 18:04Dave Hamilton: my competition some of my competition is using ai better than me but really
- 18:08Dave Hamilton: my worst competition is me so
- 18:10Dave Hamilton: it you know i i just take that which is available,
- 18:14Dave Hamilton: i apply it to our businesses in the way the best ways i can think to or that
- 18:19Dave Hamilton: we can think to it doesn't all have to be me you know obviously and and that's it so i i don't,
- 18:26Dave Hamilton: like i get what i understand why he's saying what he's saying and that you have
- 18:30Dave Hamilton: to keep your private stuff private right but that's not what he's saying two.
- 18:37Shannon Jean: Different people oh
- 18:38Dave Hamilton: Okay i did.
- 18:39Shannon Jean: Not say that okay this was a
- 18:40Dave Hamilton: Podcast yeah okay.
- 18:42Shannon Jean: Carp is saying listen you need to you you need to build your own llm you need
- 18:49Shannon Jean: to keep your control of your own data yes you need To,
- 18:54Shannon Jean: you know, because you can't be paying millions of dollars and then getting shut out.
- 18:58Shannon Jean: So I think it's more of an enterprise problem, a big company,
- 19:03Shannon Jean: corporate type problem than guys like us are going to face because we're,
- 19:07Shannon Jean: you know, doing piecemeal.
- 19:08Shannon Jean: They don't want to come compete with me. They don't want to compete in the podcast
- 19:10Shannon Jean: space and advertising. They don't want to. But they certainly want to compete
- 19:13Shannon Jean: in the CRM space and the legal space.
- 19:16Dave Hamilton: But here's the thing about the CRM space. Everybody like you and me,
- 19:21Dave Hamilton: I don't think a year from now,
- 19:24Dave Hamilton: Anyone a year from now who is at our level, and by our level,
- 19:30Dave Hamilton: I'm going to define that as, let's say, 25 or fewer, and sometimes much fewer employees, right?
- 19:36Dave Hamilton: The small to maybe medium business, so SMMB, I'll coin a term,
- 19:43Dave Hamilton: small to maybe medium size business,
- 19:48Dave Hamilton: is anybody that is paying for a CRM a year from now has made an error.
- 19:58Dave Hamilton: I would agree. There is no reason for it. You can start right now to develop
- 20:03Dave Hamilton: your own custom CRM that is not you.
- 20:08Dave Hamilton: Currently, what we all have with the SaaS CRMs or even the non-SaaS,
- 20:13Dave Hamilton: you know, the ones you run locally, but you buy from someone else,
- 20:16Dave Hamilton: you are adapting to someone else's paradigms.
- 20:19Dave Hamilton: Now, you pick the ones that match yours the closest, but it's not the best.
- 20:25Shannon Jean: But you still have to adapt.
- 20:25Dave Hamilton: But you still have to adapt. And here's the reality of this.
- 20:30Dave Hamilton: I never have. I have never paid for a CRM because 30 years ago,
- 20:35Dave Hamilton: I built a FileMaker database.
- 20:37Shannon Jean: Correct. I had the same thing. Right. If you have experience building with FileMaker.
- 20:42Dave Hamilton: You are already ahead of the game.
- 20:45Shannon Jean: Yeah. Because an app like FileMaker, I'm sure there's other comparable ones.
- 20:49Shannon Jean: But knowing that you could build this custom.
- 20:54Dave Hamilton: Exactly what you want.
- 20:56Shannon Jean: Exactly. It's also a blessing and a curse.
- 21:00Dave Hamilton: Oh, you can build it and you have to.
- 21:03Shannon Jean: Yes, but you never stop, right? It's like, well, wouldn't it be nice if it did
- 21:08Shannon Jean: this and did that? Where with an off-the-shelf CRM, you're like, well, it can't do that.
- 21:12Dave Hamilton: Well, but with AI, like I've had Claude Code building me my scripts for FileMaker
- 21:21Dave Hamilton: now for the last year. Yeah, that's awesome. And it's great.
- 21:24Dave Hamilton: And it truly so i in a year from now if you're still paying for hubspot or whatever,
- 21:31Dave Hamilton: like i really think it's a mistake i think you're just throwing money away um,
- 21:35Dave Hamilton: yeah i do too so that you know there you go i don't know if that's our big takeaway
- 21:40Dave Hamilton: but it's certainly up well it's it's one of the votes so yeah it's yeah yeah.
- 21:45Shannon Jean: Yeah yeah i i think um
- 21:48Shannon Jean: I think there's a, there's one of the, one of the, I was just thinking of a
- 21:51Shannon Jean: big takeaway that was a little bit different about, man, I just lost it.
- 21:57Dave Hamilton: I'm sorry. Oh, that's okay. I did it to you.
- 21:59Shannon Jean: It happens to the best of us. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, it's no big deal. I do think that,
- 22:04Shannon Jean: For me, the big takeaway is the way AI is working today with us and logging
- 22:11Shannon Jean: in and doing everything in the cloud is not going to be the way it's done here shortly.
- 22:17Shannon Jean: Like, I think in the next 6 to 12 months, a lot of this stuff is going to become
- 22:22Shannon Jean: on your computer, on your phone, and it'll change the way people maybe think
- 22:28Shannon Jean: about privacy and what you put up there.
- 22:32Dave Hamilton: Yeah, but that was last week's big takeaway. Well, it was get ready to hear
- 22:37Dave Hamilton: and learn more about using local LLMs with last week's big takeaway.
- 22:41Dave Hamilton: I mean, we can iterate on that, but it's similar. You know, it sounds.
- 22:46Dave Hamilton: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It rhymes with last week's for sure.
- 22:48Shannon Jean: There we go. There you go. Yeah, that's right.
- 22:52Dave Hamilton: So I don't know, but like, I think I would still vote for, you got to create
- 22:59Dave Hamilton: your own business software. Yeah.
- 23:02Shannon Jean: Own your own. There's never been a better time to own, to build your own,
- 23:06Shannon Jean: own your own software for sure.
- 23:08Shannon Jean: Yes. Yeah. I'm, I'm good with that. I think that's a good, big takeaway.
- 23:11Shannon Jean: Yeah. I think we can expand on that in our business blueprints that you can
- 23:15Shannon Jean: get after every show. How do they get those business blueprints, Dave?
- 23:19Dave Hamilton: They go to businessbrain.show slash blueprints.
- 23:23Dave Hamilton: And that is where you get the full business plan based on,
- 23:29Dave Hamilton: the fact that there's never been a better time to own and build your own business
- 23:32Dave Hamilton: software plus you get the business blueprints for every episode that we've done
- 23:37Dave Hamilton: for the last couple of months essentially
- 23:38Dave Hamilton: since we started doing business blueprints so yeah go check them out,
- 23:43Dave Hamilton: thanks for hanging out folks make sure to uh,
