Latest / Kenny Wallace Media / Pitbull Describes Why He Loves NASCAR
Transcript
- 0:00First of all I had to say it since he announced me our
- 0:02announcement said let Chico Pitbull Mr. Three O 5 but it
- 0:05said Mr. Worldwide coming to the stage here in Homestead FL Day
- 0:08Canada three O 5 representer that's all right and good to see
- 0:12y'all all right got to get got to get some energy in this room.
- 0:15Number 1, #2 in, in layman terms, I know I got some kids in
- 0:20here, but these are impact for words, are very passionate, my
- 0:22scheduling compared to these NASCAR drivers and what y'all
- 0:25got going on. I mean, it's grueling, it's
- 0:26grinding. Do we relate to each other?
- 0:28Absolutely. Are we both hard workers?
- 0:31Clearly. And #3, when it came to us
- 0:34getting together with track house and being a part of the
- 0:37whole NASCAR family, it was #1 something that I had been
- 0:42manifesting for a long time. The minute that I saw that car
- 0:45parked in front of SLAM, which is one of our schools in Little
- 0:48Havana, La Beguignolana here, one of my own neighborhoods, and
- 0:51when I saw the disconnect between the kids in the car,
- 0:53meaning they were so excited to see it, it's like they saw a
- 0:56spaceship. And that's what I mean by the
- 0:58disconnect. Meaning they didn't, they didn't
- 1:00even know that that that world really existed.
- 1:02And I already automatically saw an opportunity to teach these
- 1:05kids that they could be owners, they could be technicians, they
- 1:09could be engineers, they could be drivers and physical
- 1:12therapist, you name it. There's so many opportunities
- 1:14within the world of of NASCAR and that's basically how this
- 1:18came about because our visions aligned and our goals were the
- 1:21same. That it wasn't just about
- 1:23generating and winning, it was about utilizing the music, that
- 1:26platform and utilizing the platform of what it is, racing
- 1:30and and bringing a culture, community and everybody together
- 1:33and just showing everybody that we're here to unite and not
- 1:36divide through the platforms that we have.
- 1:38As far as the new album, track house, what better name than
- 1:43that for the new album. And if y'all listen to the album
- 1:46and what's in the album, I did it on purpose.
- 1:47I put a lot of different records in there.
- 1:49I put English, I put Spanish, I put mambo, I put, you know, how
- 1:55can I have the T pain. He starts it off.
- 1:57So it's me T pain and me child on it and and and T pain on the
- 2:00Spanish record, which you know, T pain from Tallahassee here,
- 2:03Florida boy. He speaks Spanish regardless.
- 2:06But all I'm saying is it's a beautiful thing to bring these
- 2:09two platforms together so that every culture can enjoy and
- 2:12understand that there is an opportunity in NASCAR and track
- 2:16house is the one running point on that.
- 2:18Damn golly, I bet that answered every question I think.
- 2:22That's it. No, no, I'm just no, I'm
- 2:24kidding. Slam radio, yeah.
- 2:27And I was just wondering, what makes track house racing and the
- 2:31racing industry so important to you and so special to you that
- 2:34you would even name an album after it?
- 2:37What makes it important to me for one of Mondo and Slam radio?
- 2:40We should let the whole world know It's at this point that
- 2:43Slam High School is the only high school in the nation with
- 2:46its own radio station. So one time for Slam Radio and
- 2:50Sirius for giving us that opportunity.
- 2:54You know what, Mondo? What makes it different is
- 2:56because we do it because we care.
- 2:59You know, a lot of people, don't get me wrong, it's, you know,
- 3:01it's a sport, we're here to win and it's a business you're here
- 3:04to generate. But when you have a purpose and
- 3:07you have a real cause behind it, that's what makes it special.
- 3:10And that is why I got involved in the 1st place.
- 3:13And second of all, why I would name the album That is just to
- 3:17create more awareness, not just through the NASCAR community,
- 3:20not only the United States of America, but also around all
- 3:23around the world. And when you do that from a good
- 3:27place, there's a saying that says do good and be well.
- 3:30And that's where we live every day of our lives.
- 3:33And I tell y'all all the time. I know y'all hear it in the
- 3:34records, but it's the truth I live by, you know, every day
- 3:36above ground is a great day. So what I do is I take advantage
- 3:39of each day to see how we can help those that need it the
- 3:41most. And that's what the Pitbull
- 3:44organization about and that is what track house is about.
- 3:47And that's why this is, I would say, a priceless relationship
- 3:52slash connection. And one of the things that I was
- 3:56really surprised by when we were talking about your biggest fan
- 3:59base and where they are across the world.
- 4:01Middle East and Australia, Middle East, Mexico II is a huge
- 4:07market for US, China as well. But you know, it's hard to get
- 4:11into China in these days. But but bottom line is this.
- 4:15It just goes to show you that music is a universal language
- 4:17the same way that racing is. You know, if you look at a
- 4:19franchise like Fast and Furious, Fast and Furious found a way to
- 4:23make everybody feel involved. It's not just about the car,
- 4:27it's all about family. But if you look at the
- 4:29characters in it, everybody feels like they're a part of
- 4:31Fast and Furious because everybody's representing a
- 4:34certain culture, a certain community.
- 4:36But that's the same way we feel about track house, and that's
- 4:38what we have brought to the table for I feel NASCAR.
- 4:41Awesome. I know Jeff, you answered, you
- 4:44raise your hand first, so go ahead.
- 4:53I try as much as I can to be honest with you, but most of the
- 4:55time I'm I'm taking off on Sundays, you know to get to the
- 4:59next spot. What I do is I have someone in
- 5:02the team, his name is Elvin and he is track house fan number
- 5:06one. So he keeps me up to date on
- 5:08everything that's going on. And what I try not to do is I
- 5:12keep in touch with the drivers. I shoot him notes here and
- 5:14there. What I don't like to do is
- 5:15overwhelm them, you know. So I'm always here whether if
- 5:19they need advice and anytime that the team says hey we really
- 5:21need you at this event. Hey I try my hardest to and when
- 5:24I say I mean we, I mean us. I don't do this by myself and to
- 5:28move everything around to find a way to make it happen hence the
- 5:31term why we're here today. I mean we were just in Boston
- 5:33last night and I want to give a big shout out to Enrique
- 5:35Iglesias and Ricky Martin for giving me an opportunity to be
- 5:38able to to tour with them. So coming off stage last night
- 5:41coming straight to Homestead just goes to show I dream when
- 5:44you can live it baby. What's that now I sleep it's for
- 5:49the dead man. I got to enjoy this ride when
- 5:50I'm alive. All right.
- 5:55Where we going next? Right, right here.
- 5:56Yeah. Right here.
- 5:58Right here, Right here. Right here.
- 5:59Right here, right here. Where we going?
- 6:01Right there. My.
- 6:01Bad. Hey, next right here.
- 6:02Yes. And then we'll go to him.
- 6:04Greg Engel with Forbes, you, you have this energy, man.
- 6:09I mean, we've interviewed you online.
- 6:11You know, this is the first time in person.
- 6:13And I get energized as watching you online and watching your
- 6:16energy. You're now my playlist, which
- 6:19I'm obviously not in your demo. You'd be surprised my demos from
- 6:23the diaper to the diaper. I mean, I mean and that that's
- 6:26not a Dick, my man. I mean, just for me, you know.
- 6:29But anyway, so I listen to that. I want to know though, how do
- 6:32you keep this energy up, man? I I mean, you say you, you know,
- 6:35sleep is for the dead. I agree with you there.
- 6:36But how do you do it? So here's a little secret.
- 6:39I'm a first generation Cuban American Miami boy, raised in
- 6:44the 80s in Miami. So I'm a product of Miami in the
- 6:4780s, I just never did the product.
- 6:49But I got the energy though. But you.
- 6:52Know what I'm talking about. My bad.
- 6:55You were next, Sir. Go ahead, brother.
- 6:58Thank you, boss. Appreciate it.
- 6:59Thank you, Jeff. Thank you, Amanda.
- 7:01I'm Alfred Edmond Junior with Black Enterprise.
- 7:03I'm here in part because this is the 20th anniversary of NASCAR's
- 7:07Drive for Diversity, which they started in 2004.
- 7:11I'll admit, I was one of the people that said NASCAR going to
- 7:13do a drive for diversity this may take 100 years.
- 7:16It's actually only taking less than 20.
- 7:18I mean, there's you, there's Michael Jordan, there's Rodger
- 7:20Carruth, there's obviously Bubba Wallace.
- 7:22And I'm not just talking about that.
- 7:24I'm talking about even the executives in the organization
- 7:26who I've met over the last this past year.
- 7:30What does it mean to you to see that NASCAR?
- 7:33Is not just walking, I mean talking the talk, but walking
- 7:36the walk. They actually from points on the
- 7:37board in the in the area of diversity.
- 7:38Well, you know it's funny you say that one of the
- 7:40neighborhoods that I lived in here in Miami, which went from
- 7:43the heroin capital of Miami to the art Mecca of the world, now
- 7:45it's called Wynwood and Wynwood. The saying is don't talk about
- 7:49it, be about it. So it's nothing better to be a
- 7:51part of an organization and partner up through an amazing
- 7:53team like track house. Be a part of an organization
- 7:56that ain't just talking about it and being about it.
- 7:58And what I, you know, me and my fairy tale story at NASCAR, why
- 8:03I relate to it at a whole nother level is because, you know I'm a
- 8:06negative to a positive. And if it wasn't for a teacher
- 8:09changing my life and certain people giving me the right
- 8:13direction, then we all know how this story ends.
- 8:16Plenty of us can tell you prayers and dead that simple or
- 8:18in this day and age snitches in the sport.
- 8:20So that's not how I was raised. But either or I tell you that.
- 8:24Why don't talk about it, be about it.
- 8:28Negative to positive is my story and so is NASCAR story.
- 8:32They started bootlegging and moonshining, right?
- 8:34And they took that and made it one of the not one of the
- 8:37biggest sport in the United States of America.
- 8:39And now we're here throughout drive for diversity to make it
- 8:45something that is worldwide and that to me it's an honor to be
- 8:48here. And I always love to get
- 8:50involved with things that are a challenge and I love when people
- 8:53don't believe. I love when people hate, when
- 8:56they dislike, and when they talk shit that just doesn't add fuel
- 9:00to the fire that erupts the volcano.
- 9:02And that's when we show up and show out.
- 9:03And that's what we're doing right now.
- 9:06Thank you for a great question, my friend.
- 9:07Appreciate it. All right, so I've got a lot of
- 9:10hands in the air. We've got, like, time for two
- 9:12more. Holly had originally put her
- 9:15hand up. I'll come to you because I know
- 9:16you're you're you're you need you need some moment here.
- 9:21Holly. Do you did you have a question
- 9:22or are you done OK? I don't know where I was
- 9:25looking. Hello.
- 9:26Thank you for being here. Oh, thank you.
- 9:28What? What is the reception like for
- 9:30you as you walk around the garage?
- 9:32What has it been like for you to actually be here?
- 9:34We know everybody loves you and loves your what what you're
- 9:37doing. But what's it like for you being
- 9:38here? You know, that's a great
- 9:39question As so when I first came out to Daytona 500, it was
- 9:44during, it was right after the shutdown and NASCAR happened to
- 9:47be one of the only sports to open up.
- 9:49All right. So the first reaction was, and
- 9:53what the fuck is Pitbull doing here?
- 9:55OK, what is Pit doing here? So I got it, you know, we
- 9:59walking around, we doing, we doing.
- 10:01Second time that I came out, I brought a a good friend of mine,
- 10:05a mentor, a business partner and his name is Tony Robbins.
- 10:09So now they're looking, they're going, what is Pitbull and Tony
- 10:11Robbins doing here? Which by the way, we look like
- 10:13twins together, like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito.
- 10:16That's what we look like walking around.
- 10:18By the third time I came out I started to see track house hats,
- 10:21track house shirts, track house jackets and that to me it it it
- 10:26showed the impact. So I love to again be involved
- 10:30with new challenges and and learning different people and
- 10:35how they move. I love the loyalty behind the
- 10:38fanbase of NASCAR. It's phenomenal.
- 10:41And when I really fell in love was at Daytona 500, 2020 and no
- 10:482021. I'm tripping 2021, and I was
- 10:52across the street at the PF Chang's there, and I walk in and
- 10:56one of the NASCAR and fans, he's like, well, you sure don't dress
- 10:59like a NASCAR owner. So I started messing with him.
- 11:03So I, I, I sent him around the beers, he sent me around the
- 11:07shots, I sent him around the beers, he sent me around the
- 11:10shots, right. And when I went to go get up,
- 11:13because usually what I do is I'll sneak off and then I'll go
- 11:15take care of the bill for them. He already took care of the bill
- 11:18for me. Yeah.
- 11:20And I was like, oh, OK, this is this the kind of folks that I'm
- 11:24dealing with. And that showed me a lot of the
- 11:27community and the culture of NASCAR.
- 11:30And that's when I knew that this is where I was not only meant to
- 11:32be, but I'm a student. I'm here to learn.
- 11:35I'm never going to sit here and act like something that I act
- 11:37like. I know something that I don't,
- 11:39but I'm definitely here to learn.
- 11:40And that's what I feel like walking out there even today.
- 11:43You know, some people be like, what is that They don't know
- 11:48what they call me. Miss Worldwide Miss Three O 5.
- 11:51So it's it's a it's a blessing and exciting.
- 11:55No, thank you. Cedric Hollywood Cedric
- 12:03Hollywood 99 JM Yes Sir, Currently old school One O 1.
- 12:08But I want everybody in here to know that we have history, a lot
- 12:12of history. I knew him before he ever made
- 12:15it. When Luther Campbell brought him
- 12:18to my office at 99 Jams and we discussed that one day he's
- 12:21going to be as big as he is today.
- 12:24And and here he is. Well, you caught me off,
- 12:26Surprise said. I'm just got to kill you.
- 12:28Hey, man, it's. So good to see you.
- 12:34You know what I'm saying? Hey, hey, hey.
- 12:36I appreciate. Thank you always for showing me.
- 12:39Love always. Yes, Sir.
- 12:42So I I do have a a question because it's so important that
- 12:47NASCAR is now doing diversity the way it's doing.
- 12:50So I appreciate the fact that you are part of NASCAR because
- 12:55it's so many people who now realize that you know, whether
- 12:58you're black or Latin or whatever the case may be, you
- 13:00can be a part of this. But how does it feel to be a
- 13:03leader as a owner at NASCAR? It's it's a like I was saying
- 13:08before prices opportunity said. And really what a what a great
- 13:11surprise to see you and once again he's somebody that showed
- 13:14me love from the before day one you know and he and to Luther
- 13:19Campbell, he's someone that also taught me what it is to bring
- 13:22everybody together through music and to be here as as a leader or
- 13:26a partner in an amazing organization.
- 13:28It just goes to show you that like I said earlier to Armando
- 13:32do good and be well. You know music is always been an
- 13:36Ave. for us to be able to cause first between me and said and
- 13:40everybody here, see Miami's always been underdogs.
- 13:43You know anywhere, you anywhere. We went around Dade County three
- 13:45O 5, everybody one way or another.
- 13:47For some reason they just didn't believe in Miami and that was a
- 13:49chip in our shoulder. So through music we utilize that
- 13:53as an Ave. to put Miami on the map.
- 13:55Luke being the first one to really, you know, I would say
- 13:59crack it and and be motivation and inspiration to us.
- 14:02So be able to do the same thing that we did with music for Miami
- 14:05and take that all around the world and be able to do it here
- 14:07in NASCAR and with track house man.
- 14:11It just goes to show you. And when you have that chip on
- 14:13your shoulder and you an underdog, if there's one thing
- 14:15you love to do is you continue to fight.
- 14:18And as long as the purpose is right and you can count me in,
- 14:22you already know that. And we're going to take it to
- 14:24the house. Thank you.
- 14:26Thank you. Now thank you.
- 14:27Said that means the world to me. Great to see you, man.
- 14:29What a surprise. Last.
- 14:30One and we've got to run to another appointment.
- 14:32Thank you there. An appointment.
- 14:34Appointment, yeah. That's the next We're on the
- 14:36schedule. Alfredo Suarez de Bundo now.
- 14:38Armando tui, Daniel Suarez Latinos, Puerto Los exitos EE EE
- 14:46L sacrificio que le. Yeah, significa para tea Daniel
- 14:52Suarez berlo into a quipo Y EAS Allende que que que queeque so,
- 15:27so Daniel Suarez. So the bags asked me to
- 15:47translate. He comes with subtitles.
- 15:49He wanted to say thank you very much.
- 15:51We've got to go to our next point to everybody here.
- 15:53You'll have a great day. I appreciate, Y'all said.
- 15:55It's amazing to see you. And with that said, it's called
- 15:58track House because the house always wins one way or another,
- 16:01darling.
