SPEAKER_00: Why should I obey him?

SPEAKER_00: Why should I let Israel go?
• 0:27
SPEAKER_00: I don't even know who this Lord is.
• 0:31
SPEAKER_00: So I refuse to let Israel go.
• 0:35
SPEAKER_00: Then Aaron and Moses said, The God of the Hebrews has talked with us, so we beg you to let us travel three days into the desert.
• 0:46
SPEAKER_00: There we will offer a sacrifice to the Lord our God.
• 0:51
SPEAKER_00: If we don't do this, he might become angry and destroy us.

SPEAKER_00: He might make us die from sickness or war.

SPEAKER_00: But Pharaoh said to them, Moses and Aaron, you are bothering the workers.
• 1:08
SPEAKER_00: Let them do their work.
• 1:10
SPEAKER_00: Go back to your own work.
• 1:13
SPEAKER_00: There are many workers and you are keeping them from doing their jobs.
• 1:18
  SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh punishes the people.
• 1:21
SPEAKER_00: The same day Pharaoh gave a command to the slave masters in Hebrew Foreman.
• 1:27
SPEAKER_00: He said, You have always given the people straw to use to make bricks, but now tell them they have to go and find their own straw to make bricks.
• 1:41
SPEAKER_00: But they still must make the same number of bricks as they did before.
• 1:47
  SPEAKER_00: They have gotten lazy.
• 1:49
SPEAKER_00: That is why they're asking me to let them go.
• 1:53
SPEAKER_00: They don't have enough work to do.
• 1:56
SPEAKER_00: That is why they asked me to let them make sacrifices to their God.
• 2:02
SPEAKER_00: So make these people work harder.
• 2:05
  SPEAKER_00: Keep them busy.
• 2:06
SPEAKER_00: Then they will not have enough time to listen to the lies of Moses.
• 2:13
SPEAKER_00: So the Egyptian slave masters and the Hebrew foreman went to the Israelites and said, Pharaoh has decided that he will not give you straw for your bricks.
• 2:24
SPEAKER_00: You must go and get the straw for yourselves.
• 2:27
SPEAKER_00: So go and find straw, but you must still make as many bricks as you made before.
• 2:35
SPEAKER_00: So the people went everywhere in Egypt looking for straw.
• 2:40
SPEAKER_00: The slave masters forced the people to work even harder.
• 2:46
SPEAKER_00: They forced the people to make as many bricks as before.
• 2:50
SPEAKER_00: The Egyptian slave masters had chosen the Hebrew foreman and had made them responsible for the work the people did.
• 3:00
SPEAKER_00: The Egyptian slave masters beat these foremen and said to them, Why are you not making as many bricks as you have made in the past?
• 3:10
SPEAKER_00: If you could do it then, you can do it now.
• 3:14
SPEAKER_00: Then the Hebrew foreman went to Pharaoh.
• 3:17
SPEAKER_00: They complained and said, We are your servants.
• 3:20
SPEAKER_00: Why are you treating us like this?
• 3:23
SPEAKER_00: You give us no straw, but you tell us to make as many bricks as before.
• 3:29
SPEAKER_00: And now our masters are beating us.
• 3:32
SPEAKER_00: Your people are wrong for doing this.
• 3:35
SPEAKER_00: Pharaoh answered, You are lazy and you don't want to work.
• 3:41
SPEAKER_00: That is why you ask me to let you go.
• 3:45
SPEAKER_00: And this is why you want to leave here and make sacrifices to the Lord.
• 3:51
SPEAKER_00: Now go back to work.
• 3:53
SPEAKER_00: We will not give you any straw, and you must make as many bricks as you did before.
• 4:02
SPEAKER_00: The Hebrew foreman knew they were in trouble because the Pharaoh had told them, You must still make as many bricks as you made before.
• 4:12
SPEAKER_00: When they were leaving the meeting with Pharaoh, they passed Moses and Aaron.
• 4:18
SPEAKER_00: Moses and Aaron were waiting for them.
• 4:21
SPEAKER_00: So they said to Moses and Aaron, May the Lord judge and punish you for what you did.
• 4:28
SPEAKER_00: You made Pharaoh and his rulers hate us.
• 4:32
SPEAKER_00: You have given them an excuse to kill us.
• 4:36
  SPEAKER_00: Moses complains to God.
• 4:39
SPEAKER_00: Then Moses prayed to the Lord and said, Lord, why have you done this terrible thing to your people?
• 4:46
SPEAKER_00: Why did you send me here?
• 4:48
SPEAKER_00: I went to Pharaoh and said what you told me to say, but since that time he has made the people suffer, and you have done nothing to help them.
