- 0:07Speaker 1: This podcast.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game show where
- 0:12Speaker 2: conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart, and today
- 0:16Speaker 2: we're joined by Randall, Brody, Seth, Alex John, and Sarah.
- 0:21Speaker 2: This is a ten round quiz show with questions from
- 0:23Speaker 2: meat eaters for verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking.
- 0:27Speaker 2: There is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five hundred
- 0:29Speaker 2: dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing. All right,
- 0:34Speaker 2: we're starting today's show with the mailbag question. You can
- 0:36Speaker 2: send your mailbag questions to Trivia at the meadeater dot
- 0:40Speaker 2: com with the subject line Mailbag. Brady Bockler says, I'm
- 0:45Speaker 2: looking to buy my first boat this year. But I've
- 0:47Speaker 2: always heard the saying about how the best day of
- 0:50Speaker 2: boat ownership no the day you buy it, and the
- 0:53Speaker 2: second best is the day you sell it.
- 0:55Speaker 3: Is that true?
- 0:56Speaker 2: No, our boat's that big of a headache, Seth, do
- 0:58Speaker 2: you have any thoughts on No.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Boats are the best thing you'll ever do in your life.
- 1:03Speaker 2: You just had a baby, what two months ago?
- 1:06Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:06Speaker 1: That's pretty pants.
- 1:08Speaker 4: Boats, baby, Listen, there's so much you can do with
- 1:13Speaker 4: the boat. And if you, I guess it depends if
- 1:15Speaker 4: if you're like freaking lazy and let it go to ship. Ye,
- 1:21Speaker 4: but if you take care of it, you'll have the
- 1:23Speaker 4: best times of your life.
- 1:24Speaker 3: On the water.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:25Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to do it all kinds of things
- 1:27Speaker 5: you weren't able to do without it.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:30Speaker 2: Any other boat owners want to add some perspective fort Okay, I.
- 1:34Speaker 5: Want another one. I would have two or three if
- 1:37Speaker 5: I could. I had two for a while.
- 1:40Speaker 3: I think I think it's necessary to have like three
- 1:43Speaker 3: to four boats. Yeah.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I've bought and sold a boat before putting it in
- 1:46Speaker 1: the water. Okay, just when I bought it on Craigslist,
- 1:53Speaker 1: but also when I started working. It was when it
- 1:55Speaker 1: was like right before I moved over here, and I
- 1:57Speaker 1: was like, I just sell that's one fewer trip towings something.
- 2:00Speaker 2: You don't even like guns and boats. I'm realizing you
- 2:02Speaker 2: just like negotiating with strangers. Exciting about that, Okay, Brady,
- 2:10Speaker 2: Brody and Seth till you get that boat. Don't listen
- 2:14Speaker 2: to the folks who say the second best days.
- 2:16Speaker 3: And I wonder what he wants to get.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I'll ask. I'll check back in with Brady and see
- 2:22Speaker 2: if we can get an answer to that. We have
- 2:24Speaker 2: some housekeeping. On last week's episode of Trivia the Wives episode,
- 2:27Speaker 2: the tiebreaker question was about how many stars are in
- 2:31Speaker 2: the Big Dipper. The correct answer was seven, but in
- 2:33Speaker 2: the overtime excitement, my wife Shelby missed the flavor text,
- 2:36Speaker 2: which included a callback that I was very proud of.
- 2:39Speaker 2: So I'm going to read that today, all right. Earlier
- 2:42Speaker 2: in the episode, they talked about the Lakota lore behind
- 2:44Speaker 2: Devil's Tower. According to them, seven sisters climbed a small
- 2:48Speaker 2: butte to escape a group of hungry bears. As the
- 2:51Speaker 2: bears got close, the earth shook until the tiny hill
- 2:54Speaker 2: turned into an enormous tower. The bears continued to climb
- 2:57Speaker 2: and slide down backwards, which gave the butte ribbed appearance. Eventually,
- 3:01Speaker 2: the bears were buried alive by falling rocks and the
- 3:04Speaker 2: seven sisters escaped. Now here's the tie in the Lakota
- 3:07Speaker 2: say the seven sisters who evaded the bears on Devil's
- 3:10Speaker 2: Tower weren't able to get down from the butte. Instead,
- 3:13Speaker 2: they rolled birds into the sky and became the seven
- 3:16Speaker 2: stars that formed the Big Dipper. So now you know
- 3:19Speaker 2: when you're looking up at the Big Dipper those came.
- 3:22Speaker 6: You'd tell that story to Virgil.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
- 3:25Speaker 2: That's perfect. Your boat on the boat, the best thing
- 3:29Speaker 2: that's ever happened to him, all right. The Shelby index
- 3:31Speaker 2: for today is a four, so our winner should get
- 3:34Speaker 2: eight correct answers. And with that we're onto the game
- 3:37Speaker 2: of trivia. Play the drop fill. Look, I need to
- 3:42Speaker 2: know what I stand to wind everything?
- 3:46Speaker 1: How's that? Just tend to win everything?
- 3:55Speaker 3: Game?
- 3:55Speaker 4: On Suckers.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Question one, the topic is fishing, and as always, this
- 4:00Speaker 2: be multiple choices. According to the US Fish and Wildlife Service,
- 4:04Speaker 2: which of these is a cool water fish? Is it
- 4:08Speaker 2: black croppy, wileye, brook trout, or largemouth bass? One of
- 4:17Speaker 2: those is a cool water fish? Is it black croppy, walleye,
- 4:23Speaker 2: brook trout or largemouth bass? Brody quick to answer, Yeah,
- 4:30Speaker 2: it's pretty easy one. Feel okay? Easy one? According to
- 4:33Speaker 2: the US Fish and Wildlife Service, which of these is
- 4:36Speaker 2: a cool water fish? Black croppie, walleye brook, tasier. If
- 4:40Speaker 2: you got a boat, bet Brady won't get this one right,
- 4:44Speaker 2: But once he's a boat owner, he'll have the knowledge.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope he sends in a photo of his boat.
- 4:51Speaker 2: Okay, maybe his baby too. It's everybody ready, go ahead
- 4:56Speaker 2: and reveal your answer. Seth says Brook Trout, Sarah Walleye,
- 5:00Speaker 2: Randall brook Trout, John brook Trout, Alex brook Trout, Brody Walleye.
- 5:04Speaker 2: The correct answer is Walleye and Sarah got that one right.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Black crappie and largemouth bass are warm water fish, Brook
- 5:17Speaker 2: Trout are cold water fish, and Walleye are cool water fish.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Cool water fish prefer than warm water fish, and warmer
- 5:27Speaker 2: water than cool than cold water fish. Other cool water
- 5:30Speaker 2: species are northern pike, sager, and yellow perch. Cool water
- 5:36Speaker 2: fish is the in between between warm and cold.
- 5:39Speaker 6: You don't say question two.
- 5:42Speaker 2: The topic is hunting. This next great question is via
- 5:46Speaker 2: Thomas Peterson. Sodium borate, which is more commonly known by
- 5:51Speaker 2: this five letter name, is used by taxidermists to absorb
- 5:54Speaker 2: grease and deter insects. Randal, Sarah, Brody, Seth, Alex All
- 6:05Speaker 2: quick to answer, John is joining them. This may be
- 6:07Speaker 2: a one ondo percent sodium boate, which is more commonly
- 6:12Speaker 2: known by this five letter name, is used by taxidermists
- 6:15Speaker 2: to absorb grease and deter insects sort of in the name. Okay, geez,
- 6:21Speaker 2: there's a hint, John, Do you have this one right?
- 6:24Speaker 3: I think so?
- 6:24Speaker 2: Okay, I have a five letter word. Our players think
- 6:28Speaker 2: they are six for six. Sodium boate, which is more
- 6:30Speaker 2: commonly known by this five letter name, is used by
- 6:33Speaker 2: taxidermists to absorb grease and deter insects. Go ahead and
- 6:38Speaker 2: reveal your answers, Seth and Sarah and Randal. The whole
- 6:43Speaker 2: room says borax. The whole room got that right. It
- 6:46Speaker 2: is borax b o r a X. Borax is a
- 6:51Speaker 2: white powder that helps preserve the skin of mammals, birds,
- 6:55Speaker 2: and fish. It's made synthetically, but also occurs in nature
- 6:58Speaker 2: when seasonal lakes dry and leave a mineral deposit. Borax
- 7:02Speaker 2: is commonly used in cleaning products, laundry boosters, hand soaps,
- 7:06Speaker 2: and tooth bleaching formulas. Brody, are you a borax user
- 7:10Speaker 2: for your homemade European mounts?
- 7:13Speaker 3: Oh?
- 7:13Speaker 6: No, I don't use it on skulls.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I feel like I hear guys use it on skulls.
- 7:17Speaker 2: I'm sure they have, but it's the same thing.
- 7:20Speaker 5: No bleach, nothing harsh on skulls, man, it just ruins them.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Sodium borate also known as borax. Question three, The topic
- 7:29Speaker 2: is woodsmanship. This tree, which is named after an Oklahoma tribe,
- 7:35Speaker 2: produces a large fruit that is sometimes referred to as
- 7:38Speaker 2: a horse apple or monkey ball. Randall, hence his answer,
- 7:46Speaker 2: our other five players have blank white boards. Again, this
- 7:50Speaker 2: is question three. We're flying through him today. Topic is woodsmanship.
- 7:54Speaker 2: This tree, which is named after an Oklahoma tribe, produces
- 7:59Speaker 2: a large fruit that is sometimes referred to as a
- 8:02Speaker 2: horse apple or monkey ball. Seth. Do you have this
- 8:05Speaker 2: one right?
- 8:08Speaker 3: I think so, but maybe not.
- 8:12Speaker 1: We ought to fill the time here, drag this out.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Seth.
- 8:16Speaker 2: Tell us about a bad day of boat owners the
- 8:18Speaker 2: worst day of boat ownership that you've had, just so
- 8:22Speaker 2: we know it's all not cotton candy and rainbows.
- 8:26Speaker 3: Trying to think the worst day of boat ownership I've
- 8:29Speaker 3: ever had.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Yeah, you'd liked tie your fall off? Your trailer motor
- 8:34Speaker 2: wouldn't start.
- 8:35Speaker 6: That's brodie trailer an hour, I mean with the boat, Seth?
- 8:43Speaker 6: Had that, Seth no longer has.
- 8:46Speaker 2: You were going eighty miles an hour and did it
- 8:48Speaker 2: just come off?
- 8:49Speaker 6: Did you feel it?
- 8:50Speaker 1: Oh my goodness?
- 8:51Speaker 6: Sing yeah, yeah, stop in a hurry.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, where'd that tire end up going.
- 8:58Speaker 6: Off in the ditch.
- 9:00Speaker 5: I got it back. Actually, it was like the damage
- 9:03Speaker 5: was minimal. Surprised anyway, I'm trying to think of this.
- 9:12Speaker 6: Not a lot of but how about when you broke down?
- 9:15Speaker 3: Now that.
- 9:19Speaker 4: We were up in Alaska one time and our motor
- 9:21Speaker 4: one start and I look up and I just see
- 9:24Speaker 4: a wall of freaking water coming towards us, and it's
- 9:27Speaker 4: getting windy, and we're out there in the freaking gray
- 9:30Speaker 4: blue ocean and.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Skiff. Yeah, and I had to call Steve and he
- 9:37Speaker 3: had come toe toes back.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Okay, are you there, bro?
- 9:40Speaker 3: Did you come?
- 9:41Speaker 2: Did you well?
- 9:43Speaker 5: I brought down on that same trip head, Yeah, we
- 9:47Speaker 5: got stranded.
- 9:48Speaker 2: Bad weekend to be a boat owner.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:50Speaker 2: That's this tree, which is named after an Oklahoma truck,
- 9:55Speaker 2: produces a large fruit that is sometimes referred to as
- 9:59Speaker 2: a horse apple or monkey ball. Sarah, do you have
- 10:03Speaker 2: this one right? What is it?
- 10:06Speaker 7: Probably not?
- 10:06Speaker 2: Alex? Do you have this one right? I listed a
- 10:10Speaker 2: try from Oklahoma. Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal
- 10:15Speaker 2: your answers? Seth says O Sage Orange, Sarah Seneca randall
- 10:21Speaker 2: O Sage John Without an answer, Alex says Comanche Brody
- 10:26Speaker 2: per Simmon. The correct answer is O Sage orange. I
- 10:31Speaker 2: think we'll give it to Randall right, Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 10:36Speaker 2: O Sage orange lumber is coveted by woodworkers for furniture, kitchenware,
- 10:41Speaker 2: and musical instruments, while ancient humans liked it for making bows.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Because very few animals take an interest in the fruit,
- 10:48Speaker 2: some biologists believe it's an example of anachronism evolution. This
- 10:52Speaker 2: idea says that the animal responsible for spreading O. Sage
- 10:56Speaker 2: oranges is now extinct, in that it may have been
- 10:59Speaker 2: a favorite food source for mastodons or ground sloths. A
- 11:02Speaker 2: similar theory exists for avocados. Here is a picture of it.
- 11:07Speaker 5: If the animals don't like it, why do they call
- 11:09Speaker 5: it a horse apple and a monkey ball?
- 11:11Speaker 2: Well, maybe horses like it, but they're also not, you know,
- 11:14Speaker 2: around since the ice.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Age and the Nucombe family.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Yeah, for perspective, if you're watching this on YouTube, those O.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Sage oranges are like baseball to softball size. Those are
- 11:29Speaker 2: big old fruits that are made.
- 11:30Speaker 4: On the.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Question four, the topic is conservation. This island nation whose
- 11:37Speaker 2: name you might see in a gas station cooler, is
- 11:40Speaker 2: home to endangered crested iguanas and monkey faced fruit beats.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Our players are stumped. This island nation, whose name you
- 11:52Speaker 2: might see in a gas station cooler, is home to
- 11:55Speaker 2: endangered crested iguanas and monkey faced fruit bats. Seth, did
- 12:00Speaker 2: you just come up with the correct answer?
- 12:04Speaker 3: First thing that popped in my head? Okay, I don't
- 12:07Speaker 3: even know if it's an island nation.
- 12:09Speaker 8: In four I noticed this during the news show last week,
- 12:14Speaker 8: and I'm looking on the around the room at like Seth,
- 12:16Speaker 8: Randall and Brody. It was probably a mistake to paint
- 12:18Speaker 8: the walls of this room a color that's just a
- 12:20Speaker 8: couple of shades off from a very popular first light.
- 12:24Speaker 1: I'll note I didn't vote for this color.
- 12:27Speaker 2: What did you vote for?
- 12:29Speaker 1: I don't remember. It's not this. I remember losing.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Steve ask from my input, but I didn't feel like
- 12:34Speaker 2: he actually wanted my ink. He was just hoping that
- 12:37Speaker 2: I would say his answer.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Yeah, that's where I was.
- 12:41Speaker 2: This island nation, whose name you might see in a
- 12:43Speaker 2: gas station cooler is home to endangered crested iguanas and
- 12:47Speaker 2: monkey faced fruit bats. Brody, do you have this one right?
- 12:50Speaker 6: I got an answer that makes sense.
- 12:54Speaker 2: It makes players have answers that they feel okay about.
- 12:59Speaker 2: This is question for Jesus is tough. This island nation
- 13:06Speaker 2: whose name you might see in a gas station cooler
- 13:09Speaker 2: is home to endangered crested iguanas and monkey faced fruit bats.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Throwing.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Okay, you can just throw that out of the question
- 13:18Speaker 2: if you'd like. If I got it all right, Brody
- 13:26Speaker 2: thinks that's an important part of the question.
- 13:29Speaker 1: M M.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Yeah, if I got it, that's the only I got it.
- 13:35Speaker 1: M M.
- 13:37Speaker 3: It's not bush Light.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I rolled that out. It's not.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The bush Nation. Randall, you're waiting on me. Well, I'm
- 13:55Speaker 2: gonna ask that you either fill the airwaves with something
- 13:57Speaker 2: interesting or right down on an answer.
- 14:01Speaker 1: I hosted some trivia this past weekend.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Oh okay, this is a good start. Tell us.
- 14:06Speaker 1: At an ELR match in southeastern Wyoming, twenty questions, we
- 14:11Speaker 1: went to a tiebreaker.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Wow.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I was thinking about sharing the questions with everybody to
- 14:16Speaker 1: see how you guys scored. The two teams that went
- 14:19Speaker 1: to the tiebreaker each had eighteen out of twenty correct
- 14:23Speaker 1: I felt good about that.
- 14:24Speaker 2: You know what, that's that's a perfect round of trivia.
- 14:26Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what the top shout out Jose.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Were they all E L R related questions?
- 14:33Speaker 1: They were all ballistics and rifle related questions. And I
- 14:35Speaker 1: had a gentleman come up to me afterwards who had
- 14:39Speaker 1: written a book on ballistics, and he said he really
- 14:41Speaker 1: enjoyed the trivia and he thought it was well done.
- 14:43Speaker 2: That's great. You can you've banked some questions for a
- 14:46Speaker 2: future episode.
- 14:47Speaker 1: I don't know. I think we had stuff too hard. Yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 1: like rank these powders by burn rate. Okay, things of
- 14:54Speaker 1: that nature.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Okay, with that little filler content, did you come up
- 14:58Speaker 2: with an answer? Randall? This island nation is named might
- 15:03Speaker 2: see in a gas station cooler, is home to a
- 15:05Speaker 2: endangered crested iguanas and monkey face refrigerator. And Fuji. We
- 15:18Speaker 2: got Sarah without an answer, Without an answer, Brody says, Fijia.
- 15:22Speaker 2: The correct answer is Fiji.
- 15:25Speaker 3: Fiji.
- 15:27Speaker 2: J I, what do we think of giving it? He
- 15:31Speaker 2: wrote down the apple? I will give it to him.
- 15:36Speaker 2: Fiji is located in the South Pacific Ocean and is
- 15:39Speaker 2: about two thirds the size of Hawaii. The islands are
- 15:42Speaker 2: home to some species of plants and animals that are
- 15:45Speaker 2: found nowhere else in the world, and true to its name,
- 15:47Speaker 2: Fiji water comes from an aquifer on Fiji's biggest island.
- 15:51Speaker 2: If you'd ask me beforehand, like does Fiji water come
- 15:54Speaker 2: from Fiji, I'd be like, not, no, way, Yeah, it
- 15:57Speaker 2: actually does, so I'm very impressed. Question five. The topic
- 16:01Speaker 2: is cooking. This is our listener question of the week,
- 16:04Speaker 2: which was won by Leland Hart for sending this great question.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Leland is going to get a one hundred and fifty
- 16:09Speaker 2: dollars First Light gift card. If you want a chance
- 16:11Speaker 2: to win the Listener Question of the Week, send your
- 16:13Speaker 2: question to Trivia at the met eater dot com.
- 16:15Speaker 8: I have to start paying Leland a salary.
- 16:18Speaker 5: Leland Hart, he needs an esquire behind this. It's like that's.
- 16:21Speaker 7: Like southern lawyer.
- 16:23Speaker 2: He was one of our best attendees to media to
- 16:27Speaker 2: Radio Live Rip and he sends me plenty of trivia questions.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Here is his listener question the problem. An outside skirt
- 16:34Speaker 2: steak comes from this nine letter muscle. We'll get a
- 16:42Speaker 2: scoreboard update from Fill the engineer after this. An outside
- 16:45Speaker 2: skirt steak comes from this five letter muscle. Randall playing
- 16:53Speaker 2: some hangman, but he doesn't seem to like what he
- 16:55Speaker 2: wrote down.
- 17:00Speaker 6: I got nine letters. I ain't messing around.
- 17:03Speaker 2: Okay, Fiji water. Brodie thinks he has it.
- 17:08Speaker 6: I don't know. I got nine letters.
- 17:12Speaker 2: An outside skirt steak comes from this nine letter muscle.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Next time I need to buy a bottle of water,
- 17:18Speaker 2: I'm gonna get Fiji just to see if I can taste.
- 17:21Speaker 7: It's pretty good bottle of water.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Are you Are you a purist when it comes to
- 17:25Speaker 2: bottled water? Can you like, could we do a pepsi
- 17:28Speaker 2: challenge where you're blindfold and you drink Dasani versus smart
- 17:32Speaker 2: water and the difference.
- 17:33Speaker 7: I could probably tell the difference between good and bad.
- 17:36Speaker 7: And I have an idea of what brands are good,
- 17:38Speaker 7: ones are bad.
- 17:39Speaker 2: Fiji falls on the good side of that.
- 17:40Speaker 7: Fiji falls on the good side. Dasani falls on the bad.
- 17:43Speaker 7: Sidemen pretty it's terrible water, but I tend to I
- 17:47Speaker 7: don't buy bottled water. It's more of a principal thing.
- 17:51Speaker 2: An outside skirt steak comes from this nine letter muscle.
- 17:54Speaker 2: Phil do you have bottled water?
- 17:56Speaker 8: Takes not at all except that Dasani is bad. That's
- 17:58Speaker 8: the one sort of like Sarah's good and bad and
- 18:01Speaker 8: where I'm like, this is just this is a tear
- 18:03Speaker 8: below you know.
- 18:05Speaker 7: Like Ice Mountain is a really good one.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Ice Mountain is the one, don't They have like nine
- 18:09Speaker 2: names depending on where. It's like Deer Park. If you're
- 18:12Speaker 2: in New York and it's Ice Mountain over.
- 18:14Speaker 7: Here up in the spring is good old springs.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Sarah, do you have this one right?
- 18:22Speaker 7: I have a nine letter muscle that geographically makes.
- 18:26Speaker 2: Sense, Okay. An outside skirt stake comes from this nine
- 18:29Speaker 2: letter muscle.
- 18:33Speaker 7: I don't know if cow's have this muscle.
- 18:36Speaker 2: It's everybody ready this, Go ahead and reveal your answer.
- 18:42Speaker 2: Seth without an answer, Sarah says trapper zius, trapezius, Randall quadricep.
- 18:50Speaker 2: John without an answer, Alex without an answer. Brody says, diaphragm.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Brody got it the correct answer, diaphragm.
- 18:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I've heard.
- 19:00Speaker 5: I've heard it called the hangar steak.
- 19:03Speaker 3: I wrote down diaphragm.
- 19:05Speaker 6: I was like, but I don't even know.
- 19:08Speaker 8: If you If you listen to uh well, by the

- 19:14Speaker 8: this is discussed really okay.
- 19:16Speaker 2: The skirt steak is also known as the Philadelphia steak
- 19:20Speaker 2: or Fahata steak. The outside skirt comes from the diaphragm,
- 19:23Speaker 2: while the inside skirt comes from the transversus abdominus. It
- 19:28Speaker 2: is a flat, tough cut of meat with a thick grain.
- 19:31Speaker 2: For more on skirt steaks, go watch Yanni's video on
- 19:34Speaker 2: the medeater dot com called how to Prepare a Venison
- 19:37Speaker 2: skirt steak Steak?
- 19:39Speaker 8: Well, yeah, so that's what That's what we discussed. The
- 19:41Speaker 8: hangar steak is known and it's it's like the legs
- 19:43Speaker 8: of the diaphragm, so it's part of that muscle, but
- 19:45Speaker 8: it's just kind of like some of the outside good clarity.
- 19:48Speaker 3: FI.
- 19:49Speaker 7: That's an underrated cut.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Phil scoreboard update.
- 19:52Speaker 8: Oh yes, that time, isn't it. Here We are at halftime.
- 19:55Speaker 8: Everyone's on the board. John and Alex have one point
- 19:57Speaker 8: a piece. Sarah and Randall are up next with two points,
- 20:01Speaker 8: Seth has three, and in first place it's Berdy Henderson
- 20:04Speaker 8: just kidding, he's got four points.
- 20:06Speaker 6: You had diaphragma, wrote it down. I I had.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I had diaphragm too, and I was just thinking. I
- 20:14Speaker 1: convinced myself that a hanger steak and a skirt steak
- 20:16Speaker 1: weren't the same thing. Yeah, so I was right, So
- 20:21Speaker 1: I was right.
- 20:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:24Speaker 2: Question six the topic is hunting. This next great question
- 20:28Speaker 2: is via Micah Greenway. This hunter carried a Holland in
- 20:32Speaker 2: Holland Royal double rifle which became known as the Big Stick.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Randall quick to answer this one. This hunter carried a
- 20:45Speaker 2: Holland and Holland Royal double rifle which became known as
- 20:50Speaker 2: the Big Stick.
- 20:51Speaker 4: Phil.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Can you turn the camera off me real quick?
- 20:54Speaker 4: Uh?
- 20:55Speaker 3: Are you serious?
- 20:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna take my hoodie off and I'm gonna
- 20:57Speaker 1: pull it over my head and lift.
- 20:59Speaker 2: My shirt up on Spencer, Suspencer, I'll observe. Yeah, no
- 21:05Speaker 2: skin show. That is perfectly acceptable, just in case.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I just thought I wanted to be very conservative there.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Yeah, who do you want to call any attention to.
- 21:16Speaker 1: That chemicratic today? So I didn't know would stick together.
- 21:20Speaker 2: This hunter carried a Holland and Holland Royal double rifle,
- 21:25Speaker 2: which became known as the Big Stick. And Randall, it's
- 21:29Speaker 2: very confident that he has this one right, Alex, Do
- 21:31Speaker 2: you have this one right?
- 21:33Speaker 1: No, I'm coming from behind now, So I'm just it's
- 21:39Speaker 1: not that I'm confident, it's that I'm at ease.
- 21:42Speaker 2: It's not a lot of pressure, Alex and I have
- 21:44Speaker 2: the same uniform on today, black shirt and green first
- 21:47Speaker 2: light hat. Brody, do you have this one right now?
- 21:50Speaker 6: I don't know. I'll justify my answer.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Okay, this hunter carried in H and H Royal double rifle,
- 21:58Speaker 2: which became known as a big stick. Is everybody ready?
- 22:04Speaker 2: Go ahead and reveal your answer, Seth and Sarah. Without
- 22:08Speaker 2: an answer, Randall says tr John Teddy Roosevelt, Alex Teddy Roosevelt,
- 22:13Speaker 2: Brody Roosevelt, they got it. The correct answer is Teddy Roosevelt.
- 22:20Speaker 7: Softly and carry a big stick. They're just referring to.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I'll tell you about. The H and H Royal Double
- 22:27Speaker 2: Rifle was chambered in five hundred four fifty. Its nickname
- 22:31Speaker 2: was inspired by his big Stick diplomacy, which derived from
- 22:35Speaker 2: his quote speak softly and carry a big stick, you
- 22:38Speaker 2: will go far. Tr used the gun on an African
- 22:41Speaker 2: safari where he killed dangerous game, including eight elephants. Here
- 22:46Speaker 2: is a picture of tr with that big stick and
- 22:49Speaker 2: a rhino he killed and a what it was called buzzards?
- 22:52Speaker 1: No?
- 22:53Speaker 2: Is that what it is?
- 22:55Speaker 5: Some of thus busted looks like a some like long
- 23:01Speaker 5: legged random?
- 23:03Speaker 3: You got?
- 23:03Speaker 6: How come you haven't gotten? Into the double big game rifles.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Oh, I'd love to. I mean that's a it's not
- 23:09Speaker 1: really a working man's rifle. Cabellas used to sell a
- 23:17Speaker 1: side by I don't know they might still, but I
- 23:19Speaker 1: remember as a child really wanting side by side black powder.
- 23:23Speaker 1: They called it like the Kodiak Double Express or something,
- 23:26Speaker 1: and you could get it. I believe you could get
- 23:28Speaker 1: it in seventy two caliber side by side black powder.
- 23:32Speaker 2: But could you imagine that bird is It's a Cordy bustard,
- 23:37Speaker 2: which is Africa's largest flying bird. Oh, you nailed it
- 23:41Speaker 2: in the bustard. And the big stick diplomacy. I think
- 23:44Speaker 2: that was about when he was discussing war with other nations,
- 23:47Speaker 2: that you come ready to negotiate and you just like
- 23:52Speaker 2: are very pragmatic and if things don't go your way,
- 23:55Speaker 2: then you have the big stick that you can swing.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Question seven. The topic is wild life. This ten letter
- 24:01Speaker 2: word is defined as quote the act of killing hopelessly
- 24:06Speaker 2: sick or injured individuals in a relatively painless way for
- 24:11Speaker 2: reasons of mercy. This ten letter word is defined as
- 24:20Speaker 2: the act of killing hopelessly sick or injured individuals in
- 24:25Speaker 2: a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy. Brody locks
- 24:31Speaker 2: in his answer, why board is down? Sarah doing some counting,
- 24:36Speaker 2: Randa looking at the answer, looking at the question, looking
- 24:40Speaker 2: back at the answer. Do you like what you have? Randall?
- 24:43Speaker 1: No, I have nine letters.
- 24:44Speaker 6: Just throw an extra one in there.
- 24:47Speaker 3: It just put at the end.
- 24:49Speaker 1: I think.
- 24:50Speaker 2: So this ten letter word is defined as the act
- 24:54Speaker 2: of killing hopelessly sick or injured individuals in a relatively
- 24:59Speaker 2: painless way for reasons of mercy. The answer has now
- 25:07Speaker 2: entered Randall's.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I just needed a different form of word.
- 25:12Speaker 6: You know, we should have a spelling bee sometimes.
- 25:16Speaker 2: I've discussed this exact thing with Phil on a future
- 25:21Speaker 2: concept where we do just a product that is strictly
- 25:25Speaker 2: video rather than video and audio, and a spelling bee
- 25:28Speaker 2: would potentially be part of that.
- 25:30Speaker 7: So if I have a different form of the word
- 25:32Speaker 7: that doesn't have ten letters.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Not going to give you any hints. You need to
- 25:35Speaker 2: have a ten letter word, ten letter word that means
- 25:38Speaker 2: the act of killing hopelessly sick or injured individuals in
- 25:43Speaker 2: a relatively painless way for reasons of mercy.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Still get there.
- 25:47Speaker 2: I wish it was nine, feel like it should be nine.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Should be nine, Seth is tapped out on this one,
- 25:54Speaker 2: or he's already moved on to the next quest.
- 25:58Speaker 4: I think I was good for the out three questions
- 26:01Speaker 4: being right and used all up already.
- 26:04Speaker 9: I think I wrote a middle school report on this
- 26:07Speaker 9: word about why it is okay to do okay.
- 26:12Speaker 2: I would like to hear a middle schooler's perspective, way
- 26:15Speaker 2: before I ever even understood what it actually was. Seth
- 26:22Speaker 2: is maybe coming out. Did did it just hit you,
- 26:24Speaker 2: Seth as to what it could be? It's everybody ready, okay,
- 26:35Speaker 2: no one else had that problem. Go ahead and reveal
- 26:38Speaker 2: your answers, Seth says, putting down the Sarah, youuthanized Randall euthanasia,
- 26:45Speaker 2: John euthanized Alex euthanized Brody euthanasia. The correct answer is euthanasia.
- 26:53Speaker 2: What do we think about ten they areized? Yeah, yeahs ten.
- 27:03Speaker 9: They did the past it was euthanized, yeah, which people
- 27:10Speaker 9: said euthanized also, and let's euthanized.
- 27:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:15Speaker 7: It's the spirit of the spirit of the question.
- 27:18Speaker 3: We got the spirit, you know, it's like putting them down.
- 27:22Speaker 2: It's estimated that about six hundred thousand shelter animals were
- 27:26Speaker 2: euthanized in twenty twenty four. As for wildlife twenty twenty two,
- 27:30Speaker 2: data shows that four hundred thousand wild animals were intentionally
- 27:34Speaker 2: killed by the USDA that year. That includes fifty six
- 27:38Speaker 2: thousand coyotes, twenty six thousand beavers, two thousand foxes, five
- 27:42Speaker 2: hundred bobcats, five hundred black bears, two hundred wolves, two
- 27:45Speaker 2: hundred mountain lions, and seven grizzly.
- 27:49Speaker 6: That's not youth.
- 27:50Speaker 5: They're not killing animals that were hopelessly sick or injured.
- 27:53Speaker 5: They're they're killing vermin.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I mean, I think you could have a different a
- 27:58Speaker 2: different definition of you deanized. That just means like simply.
- 28:02Speaker 6: The euthanizing coyotes. Dude, that's not youth.
- 28:07Speaker 5: In Asia, they're like eliminating coyotes because they don't want
- 28:10Speaker 5: them around.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Or they count animals caught in traps.
- 28:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I would.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I'd accept that that argument. I feel like it's it's
- 28:18Speaker 2: just like.
- 28:18Speaker 1: I don't think it's your fault, Spencer. I bet you
- 28:20Speaker 1: found that somewhere and that's how it was worded.
- 28:26Speaker 2: Topic is gear. This next great question is via Charlie McDonald.
- 28:32Speaker 2: This brand's Breatheable fabric, which blocks liquids while allowing water
- 28:37Speaker 2: vapor to pass through, was invented in nineteen sixty nine.
- 28:46Speaker 3: Yeah, store boy, well I got this one.
- 28:50Speaker 10: I got this one.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Oh wait, I just okay. This brand breatheable fabric, which
- 28:56Speaker 2: blocks liquids while allowing water vapor to pass through, was
- 29:00Speaker 2: invented in nineteen sixty nine. Okay, some quick answers and
- 29:07Speaker 2: then some changed answers.
- 29:10Speaker 7: Well, you're asking me about the brand.
- 29:13Speaker 2: We're looking for the brand. This brand's breathable fabric, which
- 29:18Speaker 2: blocks liquids while allowing water vapor to pass through.
- 29:21Speaker 3: So if you put the fabric down, you're wrong.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Put down the brand that made the fabric. Well, it's
- 29:28Speaker 2: kind of the same, aren't they?
- 29:31Speaker 7: Brand specific?
- 29:33Speaker 1: The brand and the company I think are two different things.
- 29:36Speaker 2: This brand's breathable fabric, which is liquids while allowing water
- 29:40Speaker 2: vapor to pass through, was invented in nineteen sixty nine.
- 29:44Speaker 2: It is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answer,
- 29:48Speaker 2: Seth says Gore, Sarah W. L. Gore, Randall Gore texts,
- 29:55Speaker 2: John W. L. W. L. Gore texts, John Gore, Alex
- 30:00Speaker 2: Gore text Brody Gore.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Uh.
- 30:03Speaker 2: The correct answer is gore Tex will give.
- 30:04Speaker 7: You the variations brand, that's the fabric.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Gore Tex is the brand, and I think they've got.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Is the company, but it's branded with.
- 30:18Speaker 2: Any any version of gore that you said, the W
- 30:21Speaker 2: L Gores, the gore Tex gor Tex.
- 30:24Speaker 6: I'm getting tired.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Gore Tex was created when Bob Gore realized he could
- 30:29Speaker 2: stretch p F T E rods to make a microporous fabric.
- 30:33Speaker 2: The first commercial products to use it were tents and jackets.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Now you'll find it across the outdoor industry and rain gear,
- 30:40Speaker 2: boots and gloves from Adidas to Patagonia.
- 30:43Speaker 1: It's like if you had a question about Taco Bell
- 30:45Speaker 1: pizza hut KFC and someone said young brands, Like I
- 30:49Speaker 1: would say, young Brands is not the brand, even though
- 30:51Speaker 1: the name makes even more confusing. Now, I would say
- 30:54Speaker 1: the brand is still Taco Bell.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Who else rolls up under that conglomerate?
- 30:58Speaker 1: I think that's just it. It's just that's why you
- 31:00Speaker 1: get this well. I didn't know if that's still thing,
- 31:02Speaker 1: but used to get sweet like combos.
- 31:05Speaker 2: Oh, the Taco Bell pizza here with a W.
- 31:10Speaker 1: Taco Bell I think was a young brand.
- 31:13Speaker 2: No, we have a n W KFC that's.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Somebody's gonna somebody's gonna destroy me and.
- 31:19Speaker 2: Long John Silvers too, and a n W that sounds familiar.
- 31:23Speaker 2: That's not what we have in boost. We have two
- 31:31Speaker 2: questions left, Phil give us a scoreboard update.
- 31:34Speaker 8: Oh well, it's gonna be tough for anyone to catch.
- 31:36Speaker 8: Brodie's currently in first place seven points. He's two points
- 31:41Speaker 8: ahead of the second place contestant, Randall Williams, who did
- 31:44Speaker 8: come back. He's got five and then Seth Sarah Alex
- 31:48Speaker 8: have four points. John has three.
- 31:50Speaker 2: I don't even feel good, the most points ever had
- 31:52Speaker 2: in trivia.
- 31:53Speaker 7: About to say, no offense, but it's a good performance for.
- 31:57Speaker 2: You, Okay. Two questions left to that high score Alex.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Question nine. The topic is wildlife. Star nosed, short faced,
- 32:07Speaker 2: and hairy tailed? Are all species of this animal that
- 32:11Speaker 2: primarily feeds on worms? Brody finished his answer before I
- 32:17Speaker 2: finished the question. That's probably locked in his victory. Star nosed,
- 32:22Speaker 2: short faced, and hairy tailed are all species of this
- 32:26Speaker 2: animal that primarily feeds on worms? Sarah, do you have
- 32:31Speaker 2: this one right? Maybe I have.
- 32:33Speaker 7: An animal that looks like it has a star nose.
- 32:36Speaker 2: She's she's playing for second place. See if she can
- 32:39Speaker 2: beat le. Star nosed, short faced, and hairy tailed are
- 32:45Speaker 2: all species of this animal that primarily feeds on worms.
- 32:49Speaker 2: And we'll have some story time with Brody after the answers.
- 32:54Speaker 8: Story time with Brod.
- 32:59Speaker 1: How hold on.
- 33:02Speaker 2: Reckon my day? It is one of those back in Okay,
- 33:08Speaker 2: great Alex, John, do you boys have an answer?
- 33:12Speaker 1: Come on, John, store boys are counting on you.
- 33:17Speaker 2: Yeah, well we've got another store boy yet. No, but
- 33:22Speaker 2: it's hanging in the common air.
- 33:24Speaker 10: It's first thing you see when you walk through the
- 33:25Speaker 10: door now after our renovations.
- 33:27Speaker 1: And yeah, the next thing you see is that beautiful
- 33:29Speaker 1: nude three and eighty square feet of floor space.
- 33:33Speaker 3: That's true.
- 33:33Speaker 2: I haven't seen the story.
- 33:35Speaker 10: Yeah if you've source since are opening in twenty twenty four.
- 33:40Speaker 3: And coming down for a brand new look.
- 33:43Speaker 6: Yeah, come on down.
- 33:44Speaker 10: And uh, the wall that was the TV was on
- 33:47Speaker 10: has been pushed back, and we took out that whole
- 33:50Speaker 10: back room which was our backstock, and added in our
- 33:53Speaker 10: three hundred idiots.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Yeah, that square feet that area where you used to
- 33:57Speaker 1: just go smash pizzas and beers.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Boys, you will still.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Do that.
- 34:04Speaker 8: Beers and pizzas okay, all.
- 34:07Speaker 3: Right, you can do it downstairs, but.
- 34:11Speaker 6: Home from here.
- 34:11Speaker 2: He's going there to yea one more time. Star nos,
- 34:17Speaker 2: short faced, and hairy tail. They are all species of
- 34:20Speaker 2: this animal that primarily feeds on worms. Go ahead and
- 34:25Speaker 2: reveal your answers. Seth mole, Sarah mole, randal mole, storey,
- 34:32Speaker 2: ap Alex says armadillo, Brody says mole. The correct answer
- 34:39Speaker 2: is mole. Moles are subterranean animals, meaning they spend most
- 34:44Speaker 2: of their life underground. Although landscapers and gardeners hate them,
- 34:47Speaker 2: they provide soil aeration and eat pests that feed on roots.
- 34:52Speaker 2: Some moles have toxic saliva that paralyze as worms, which
- 34:56Speaker 2: allows them to store their still living prey for later consumption.
- 35:00Speaker 2: Had discovered mole food stashes with more than a thousand worms. Wow,
- 35:05Speaker 2: we are now looking at the star faced or excuse me,
- 35:09Speaker 2: the star nosed mole, which is native to the eastern
- 35:12Speaker 2: United States. You look at that thing, You're like, certainly
- 35:15Speaker 2: that lives in Asia or South America, But nope, right here.
- 35:18Speaker 2: In the lower forty.
- 35:19Speaker 5: Eight, when I was in high school in early college,
- 35:22Speaker 5: I worked on a golf course lands on the crew
- 35:25Speaker 5: guys especially hate those boys, the uh, the or boys
- 35:30Speaker 5: that own the course. They did not like moles because
- 35:33Speaker 5: they would mess up teas and greens real bad. So
- 35:36Speaker 5: we haud stomp them whenever we saw them, and you
- 35:39Speaker 5: would bring them back at the end. You bring your
- 35:41Speaker 5: mole kill back at the end of the day, and
- 35:45Speaker 5: they'd hand out bounties.
- 35:46Speaker 2: It was a dollar mole, okay.
- 35:48Speaker 6: Wow, which when you were making five bucks an hour?
- 35:52Speaker 7: Huh?
- 35:52Speaker 1: You know, yeah, the snack bar at the country club
- 35:56Speaker 1: in the sixties, probably you can get a lot the dollar.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Really, I imagine they didn't. They weren't able to escape
- 36:04Speaker 2: real easy when a boot was coming out.
- 36:05Speaker 6: No, no, they're not real fast.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Do you know what kind of moles you were
- 36:11Speaker 2: you were killing?
- 36:13Speaker 3: It was that.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Okay, I'm glad you did that. That's a horrifying animal.
- 36:19Speaker 2: All right, here's a correct answer review so far one
- 36:22Speaker 2: was injured two borax three, O sage, Orange four Fiji five,
- 36:29Speaker 2: diaphragm six, Teddy Roosevelt seven, euthanasia eight, gore text nine
- 36:35Speaker 2: mole phill scoreboard update.
- 36:37Speaker 8: Oh yeah, sorry, you could say Brodie's practicing save sex
- 36:41Speaker 8: because he just wrapped it up.
- 36:46Speaker 3: And he secured the victory day.
- 36:48Speaker 2: There's a new one.
- 36:51Speaker 8: I was sitting on about forty five seconds proud of this.
- 36:57Speaker 2: We were lacking a signature moment for episode. Whatever this is, Yeah,
- 37:02Speaker 2: I just gave it to us. Here's question ten. The
- 37:05Speaker 2: topic is woodsmanship. This next great question is via Thomas
- 37:08Speaker 2: nether Cot. G I S stands for blank never blank system.
- 37:15Speaker 3: I always forget this.
- 37:16Speaker 2: I think G I S stands for blank blank system,
- 37:22Speaker 2: and this is woodsmanship, woodsmanship. If you got woodsmanship, you
- 37:26Speaker 2: don't need this.
- 37:28Speaker 3: That's why I don't know.
- 37:30Speaker 2: That's right, Virgil.
- 37:32Speaker 1: I'll learn to navigate by the stars.
- 37:34Speaker 2: That's right. Sights and smells blank, blank system, just like
- 37:41Speaker 2: a star nosed mole.
- 37:44Speaker 3: Daddy.
- 37:44Speaker 8: Why does Uncle Randall smell like hot dogs?
- 37:47Speaker 1: I don't think I smell like hot dogs. I think
- 37:49Speaker 1: I smell like fighter fluid hot.
- 37:55Speaker 2: I thought the primary smell in the opposite to day
- 37:57Speaker 2: was onions.
- 37:59Speaker 3: That's because Random was burping them up.
- 38:01Speaker 7: No, it was a really good onion onion sea that
- 38:05Speaker 7: I've witnessed it.
- 38:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I did, just Oh okay, I was crying.
- 38:09Speaker 2: There's a lot of competing odors happening in the office today.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we just cut that just to the
- 38:14Speaker 1: onion chopping. That would be the best thing as a company.
- 38:18Speaker 2: Keep open flames away from Randall for Randa Williams chopping
- 38:21Speaker 2: an onion.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Alex, I mean, do you disagree with what? How
- 38:28Speaker 1: good my onion chopping scene was?
- 38:31Speaker 2: I still taste them in my mouth. We've sent it
- 38:35Speaker 2: to the the Emmy coordinators.
- 38:39Speaker 1: Alex, I got a couple of dogs. No one's saying
- 38:41Speaker 1: he stinks.
- 38:42Speaker 2: We've got a real doozy.
- 38:43Speaker 9: Have a hot dog making video next Wednesday.
- 38:47Speaker 1: Yeah. It should be at least nineteen to twenty three seconds.
