- 1:44SPEAKER_14: That's what Drushan named it.
- 1:45SPEAKER_14: Um because well, it's you know, it's not really that big a deal, but when it comes to a 19-piece band, yeah, um, doing three days uh so close together, especially horn players, yeah, uh, is a lot.

- 2:24SPEAKER_14: Supposed to be.
- 2:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah, windy.
- 2:25SPEAKER_14: But it's not gonna rain, so that's good.
- 2:28SPEAKER_14: But windy and chilly, yeah.

- 2:36SPEAKER_14: And then Saturday we're playing Mars Hill.
- 2:38SPEAKER_14: I just found out I'm the only guitar player on Saturday.
- 2:41SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 2:41SPEAKER_14: Yeah, Joel and and Mark won't make it for for Mars Hill.
- 2:46SPEAKER_14: So that's okay.
- 2:48SPEAKER_14: So it's just me.

- 2:51SPEAKER_14: Um, and then Sunday we are in Easton.
- 2:54SPEAKER_14: We wrap wrap up our season.

- 3:05SPEAKER_02: The 19th?
- 3:06SPEAKER_14: I think it's the 19th.
- 3:07SPEAKER_14: It's a Saturday, right?
- 3:10SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 3:11SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 3:11SPEAKER_14: And then you and I Well, you and I have a have a gig the night before.
- 3:18SPEAKER_14: I thought it was the week after.
- 3:20SPEAKER_14: Nope.
- 3:20SPEAKER_14: No, I'm pretty sure.
- 3:21SPEAKER_14: Hold on, let me double check here.
- 3:23SPEAKER_14: So we have our Common Crossing Acoustic gig uh on a Friday, September 18th.
- 3:31SPEAKER_14: Oh, we do, okay.
- 3:32SPEAKER_14: Yes, in Holton.
- 3:33SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 3:34SPEAKER_14: And then the next day is a reunion of sorts.
- 3:38SPEAKER_14: A full band.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: And what time's that at?
- 3:40SPEAKER_14: Um, I have seven to nine.
- 3:42SPEAKER_14: Okay, good.
- 3:43SPEAKER_14: In Fort Kent, um, we had someone uh from the old crowd that we used to play for.
- 3:48SPEAKER_14: The old crew.
- 3:49SPEAKER_14: The old crew.
- 3:50SPEAKER_14: Not age-wise.
- 3:51SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 3:51SPEAKER_14: Uh reach out to us and say, Hey, it's my wife's birthday, and we want to surprise her and and and kind of get the old gang together.
- 3:59SPEAKER_14: Uh they used to come see us all the time.
- 4:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:01SPEAKER_14: And so we put it out to Shane, who obviously doesn't live around here, and he said, Yeah, I could do it.
- 4:07SPEAKER_14: So we're we're gonna do it.
- 4:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's gonna be a small small affair.
- 4:13SPEAKER_14: Uh mostly acoustic.
- 4:15SPEAKER_14: I haven't decided if I'm gonna go, I think I will probably go acoustic.
- 4:18SPEAKER_14: Uh Shane's gonna go electric base, but I was gonna say it's not a big space.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: No, it's not.
- 4:22SPEAKER_02: It's not uh it's not a electric thing.
- 4:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:26SPEAKER_14: But you know, electric bass would be fine.
- 4:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it'd be okay.
- 4:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:29SPEAKER_14: So yeah, that's that's exciting um to get us back together.
- 4:33SPEAKER_02: So we're gonna go from Holton to Fort Kent in the span of two days.
- 4:37SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 4:37SPEAKER_14: All right, yeah.
- 4:39SPEAKER_14: That'll be our trauma tour.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, it's gonna be a busy month.
- 4:43SPEAKER_14: That's it is that's yeah, all the more reason for me to uh drink some tea and honey.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 4:48SPEAKER_14: Uh and and feel better bef before we we play that.
- 4:51SPEAKER_02: Yes, have some.
- 4:52SPEAKER_14: We're playing um all kinds of five gigs in our old two weeks.
- 4:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 4:57SPEAKER_14: And you know, they never uh I never brought this up.
- 5:00SPEAKER_14: They never talked about what to pay us.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: One million dollars.
- 5:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah, so we should just go up and play and say, what what do we owe you?
- 5:09SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 5:09SPEAKER_02: I got a whole bag of ch with your name on it.
- 5:14SPEAKER_14: We could probably just name our price if we play first.
- 5:18SPEAKER_02: We'll just be like one thousand million pennies.
- 5:25SPEAKER_14: Well, actually, what I was planning on doing, and you tell me if you're okay with this, uh, I was just gonna say if you could throw a couple hundred to Shane and whatever for talking about.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because we're we're gonna get money from the night before.
- 5:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:40SPEAKER_14: So I mean they'll they'll probably pay us.
- 5:42SPEAKER_02: Well, I'm sure.
- 5:43SPEAKER_14: But I you know as long as Shane gets taken care of, yeah.
- 5:45SPEAKER_14: I'm I'm not worried about it.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: But we still have money in the uh Common Crossing account that we got to do something with, otherwise they're gonna close the account.
- 5:51SPEAKER_14: If we do?
- 5:52SPEAKER_14: How much money?
- 5:52SPEAKER_14: Do you know?
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: 273-ish.
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 5:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:57SPEAKER_14: Oh, I didn't realize we had that.
- 5:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's just been sitting there.
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: Uh and it's inactive, so they're if we don't do something with it, it's gonna get the account's gonna happen.
- 6:05SPEAKER_14: How is it inactive?
- 6:06SPEAKER_14: Because I I when uh when they pay us at Holton, I have to go and and Well, nothing's been going into it though.
- 6:14SPEAKER_14: Yes, in order to in order to cash a check from Holton and made out to Common Crossing, right?
- 6:19SPEAKER_14: I have to deposit it into the account.
- 6:21SPEAKER_14: But what I'm saying is it's not staying.
- 6:24SPEAKER_14: Oh, true.
- 6:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah, true.
- 6:25SPEAKER_14: You see what I'm saying?
- 6:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 6:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 6:27SPEAKER_14: So So uh what do you want to buy?
- 6:30SPEAKER_02: Let's get a let's get a happy meal.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's not good.
- 6:35SPEAKER_13: No, that's not that's okay.
- 6:36SPEAKER_02: Knock down the sea foam guitar.
- 6:39SPEAKER_14: Uh I mean, yeah, we can you we can uh take it out and split it three ways, or we can, you know, whatever you want to do.
- 6:46SPEAKER_14: We'll talk about it.
- 6:46SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, does Shane need lodging?
- 6:49SPEAKER_02: Uh that's a great question.
- 6:51SPEAKER_02: Where is he staying?
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: I have no idea.
- 6:52SPEAKER_02: He hasn't said anything.
- 6:54SPEAKER_02: So maybe we just give it to him for hotel or whatever for the night or something.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: We could do that.
- 6:59SPEAKER_02: Two night or whatever.
- 7:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we could do that.
- 7:02SPEAKER_14: Uh he could always stay at my son's house out at the farm.
- 7:07SPEAKER_14: Um That'd be awkward.
- 7:09SPEAKER_14: A little bit.
- 7:10SPEAKER_14: But I mean Jude would be happy to have him.
- 7:13SPEAKER_14: I'm sure yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 7:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I'm sure.
- 7:15SPEAKER_14: Um but yeah, we should yeah, let's let's um let's find out what he's got planned.
- 7:20SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 7:21SPEAKER_14: Um probably it'll probably message us like a few days before.
- 7:25SPEAKER_02: So where am I staying?
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Where am I gonna be?
- 7:29SPEAKER_02: Where am I gonna be?
- 7:31SPEAKER_14: Yeah, so we'll figure it out.
- 7:32SPEAKER_14: But yeah, we'll take care of him either way.
- 7:34SPEAKER_14: Um but that's exciting.
- 7:36SPEAKER_14: You know, we'll play the old stuff.
- 7:37SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 7:38SPEAKER_14: Which I have to do.
- 7:38SPEAKER_02: It's been a long time.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: I haven't touched it.
- 7:40SPEAKER_02: Like I said, it's been four years.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 7:41SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 7:42SPEAKER_02: So uh since we did any of that stuff.
- 7:45SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 7:46SPEAKER_14: So that's that's cool.

- 8:16SPEAKER_02: Which is fine.
- 8:16SPEAKER_02: You know, I mean that gets old after a while, though.
- 8:18SPEAKER_14: Oh, of course it does.
- 8:20SPEAKER_02: But you know Hey, we're gonna play another song if anybody cares.
- 8:26SPEAKER_14: Such is the nature of music in Aroustic County.
- 8:29SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it really is, man.

- 10:37SPEAKER_14: It's not from ultimate classicrock.com, actually.
- 10:40SPEAKER_14: Wow.
- 10:40SPEAKER_14: It's from their sister um site, Loudwire.
- 10:46SPEAKER_14: Oh, I didn't know they were related.
- 10:47SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah.
- 10:48SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they're all related.
- 10:49SPEAKER_02: Is it an incestuous thing?
- 10:51SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 10:51SPEAKER_14: It is.
- 10:52SPEAKER_14: All right, I have a new song from Stanley Simmons.
- 10:54SPEAKER_14: This is the sons, or these are the sons, of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons of Kiss.
- 11:00SPEAKER_14: And uh we have so far heard, I think, two songs from these guys, right?
- 11:06SPEAKER_14: Two songs?
- 11:07SPEAKER_02: Two or three.
- 11:08SPEAKER_02: Uh the last couple have been really good.
- 11:10SPEAKER_02: Really good, yeah.
- 11:10SPEAKER_14: And we we enjoyed them.
- 11:12SPEAKER_14: So I'm interested.
- 11:12SPEAKER_02: They give me a like a darkness vibe.
- 11:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a little bit.
- 11:16SPEAKER_02: Justin uh Hawks.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Hawkins, yeah.
- 11:19SPEAKER_02: Hawkins, yeah.
- 11:20SPEAKER_02: You know, I don't know why it just it's just the look of them.
- 11:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it's very retro and very uh uh flowery, yeah.
- 11:27SPEAKER_02: You know, flower child y can't look, yeah.
- 11:30SPEAKER_14: Um yeah, I don't know what it's what it's all about.
- 11:32SPEAKER_14: The music doesn't really necessarily uh coincide with their vibe sometimes.
- 11:36SPEAKER_14: Not really, no.
- 11:37SPEAKER_14: Um but uh I dig what we've heard so far.
- 11:40SPEAKER_14: So this is a new one, and this is the headline is uh it's a moody song called Cold.
- 11:47SPEAKER_14: So we'll see just how moody uh this one is.
- 11:50SPEAKER_14: This is new from Stanley Simmons Cold.
- 11:57SPEAKER_02: Already fleet wooded Mackey, right?
- 12:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah, everything you want it to be.
- 13:19SPEAKER_14: Yeah, no, I I dig it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_14: It's nice to make harmonies catchy hooks.
- 13:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah, they are everything kissed could have been.
- 13:26SPEAKER_14: I'm gonna have to like uh pick this up.
- 13:31SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, because I remember that first one.
- 13:37SPEAKER_02: We were like, eh, yeah.
- 13:38SPEAKER_02: But ever since then, there have been You're right, we have heard three, haven't we?
- 13:42SPEAKER_02: I think this is the third or fourth one, I can't remember exactly, but yeah.
- 13:45SPEAKER_02: That first one was kind of eh.
- 13:47SPEAKER_02: It was okay.
- 13:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was okay, but it wasn't anything like ah, yeah, you know.
- 13:51SPEAKER_02: But ever since then it's been like, wow, these these are really good.
- 13:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 13:54SPEAKER_14: So Yeah, no, I dig it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_14: Stanley Simmons.
- 13:59SPEAKER_14: Um does it have the name of the uh debut album, or if it's just um Dancing While the World Is Ending.
- 14:09SPEAKER_14: Ah, that's the name of the debut album.
- 14:12SPEAKER_14: Nice and distinct.
- 14:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:16SPEAKER_14: There's that hook.
- 14:25SPEAKER_14: Yeah, no, I I I dig it.
- 14:26SPEAKER_14: That's uh good.
- 14:27SPEAKER_14: Some kind of stuff.
- 14:28SPEAKER_14: I like it a lot.
- 14:30SPEAKER_14: Um so the headline that I had comes from Loudwire, and it is the jobs twenty-six rock and metal musicians had before they were famous.
- 14:40SPEAKER_14: So, I mean, we could talk uh about the jobs that we've had um before we became famous podcasters.
- 14:48SPEAKER_14: Um's that gonna happen.
- 14:50SPEAKER_02: What are you what are you what are you laughing at?
- 14:54SPEAKER_14: We're famous to Jeff and Bounce and Bob.
- 14:57SPEAKER_14: Bounce and Bob and Cousin Larry and the judge.
- 14:59SPEAKER_14: And the judge.
- 15:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:01SPEAKER_02: Oh, speaking of the judge, yeah.
- 15:02SPEAKER_02: She got married Saturday.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's right.
- 15:04SPEAKER_02: I knew it was September, but I forgot the date.
- 15:06SPEAKER_02: So she did get married.
- 15:07SPEAKER_02: She did.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 15:08SPEAKER_02: It was a very nice ceremony.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Nice.
- 15:10SPEAKER_02: Out in uh Woodland.
- 15:12SPEAKER_14: Very cool.
- 15:13SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it was it's a new place I'd never been to.
- 15:15SPEAKER_02: It's one of those quote unquote event places, but it's fairly new and it's still a little, I think a little rough around the edges.
- 15:23SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 15:24SPEAKER_02: But I mean it was it's a nice spot and you know, everything like that.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: But her, I mean, she enjoyed it.
- 15:30SPEAKER_02: Yeah, she looked she looked amazing and uh she had a wonderful dress on and uh very short.
- 15:35SPEAKER_02: Uh it was you remember my uh tattoo guy, dragon guy?
- 15:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he officiated the wedding.
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Did he really?
- 15:40SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 15:41SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 15:42SPEAKER_02: Apparently he became an ordained minister somewhere.
- 15:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know where.
- 15:46SPEAKER_02: That's cool.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:47SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 15:48SPEAKER_02: So it was pretty great.
- 15:49SPEAKER_02: I got to talk to him for a little bit and I talked to the judge and her new husband.
- 15:53SPEAKER_02: So I guess we have to call our Mrs.
- 15:54SPEAKER_02: Judgeness from now on.
- 15:55SPEAKER_14: Mrs.
- 15:56SPEAKER_14: Judgeness.
- 15:56SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 15:57SPEAKER_14: Instead of Miss Judgeness.
- 15:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah, so it works.
- 15:59SPEAKER_14: And so we have to change the do we have to change the Nah, we'll just keep it.
- 16:03SPEAKER_02: Well, maybe someday we'll change it.
- 16:04SPEAKER_02: We'll we'll update it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_14: But you know, it would be you'd be surprised the things I can do with with the technology.
- 16:09SPEAKER_14: Well, I know, yeah.
- 16:09SPEAKER_14: I can just take the S on the Miss and double it.
- 16:12SPEAKER_14: Miss Ooh, yeah.
- 16:14SPEAKER_14: That would work.
- 16:16SPEAKER_14: Sound like she had a lisp or something.
- 16:18SPEAKER_14: Oh, um, I just got a text or a message from Eli.
- 16:22SPEAKER_14: Who's well that we haven't talked about that.
- 16:24SPEAKER_02: Well, he's uh he's at a Red Sox game, apparently.
- 16:26SPEAKER_14: He's at a Red Sox game.
- 16:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 16:27SPEAKER_14: He just sent up a picture.
- 16:30SPEAKER_14: Pretty good seats.
- 16:30SPEAKER_14: That is good seats.
- 16:31SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 16:32SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 16:32SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I paid nine bucks for his ticket.
- 16:34SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I'm I was like, your your wife told me that, and I was like, wow! That must be nice.
- 16:38SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 16:39SPEAKER_14: It's just it's a student discount or whatever.
- 16:42SPEAKER_02: But I mean it's nosebleeds.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: I mean it's way out.
- 16:43SPEAKER_02: Looks uh show me that again.
- 16:45SPEAKER_14: Oh, hold on.
- 16:46SPEAKER_14: I just got out of it.
- 16:49SPEAKER_14: It's I mean, if they hit it's not uh well, I guess it is kind of nosebleeds.
- 16:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's out in uh but it's the outfield, you know.
- 16:56SPEAKER_02: I mean it's it's oh yeah, that's center field.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 16:59SPEAKER_02: So those are pretty good seasons.
- 17:01SPEAKER_02: I mean, that he's not that far from the the edge, the edge.
- 17:05SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah, I mean that far from the wall.
- 17:06SPEAKER_14: He could catch a ball right there.
- 17:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah, oh easily, yeah.
- 17:09SPEAKER_02: Somebody somebody uh goes yard or something, yeah.
- 17:12SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 17:13SPEAKER_02: No, it's not bad.
- 17:14SPEAKER_14: That'll be his first uh major league ball game.
- 17:16SPEAKER_14: He's never been to a major league ball game before.
- 17:19SPEAKER_14: So uh yeah.
- 17:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, they're playing the Angels.
- 17:22SPEAKER_14: So did we talk um did we talk about um us dropping him off?
- 17:29SPEAKER_14: No, we didn't.
- 17:30SPEAKER_14: No, that's right.
- 17:31SPEAKER_14: I forgot about that because that was the day after the day after, yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 17:35SPEAKER_14: Um so we drove down last Wednesday uh after school, got to our camp, uh, and obviously just stood overnight.
- 17:45SPEAKER_14: And we got up and left, and and he was he because it's in right in downtown Boston, traffic, like you wouldn't believe.
- 17:54SPEAKER_14: Of course.
- 17:55SPEAKER_14: Um and went worth this kind of like it's almost like a horseshoe type thing.
- 18:01SPEAKER_14: So they had it was down to a science, man, the way they had people moving in.
- 18:06SPEAKER_14: Uh, they can't have everybody move in the same day.
- 18:09SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 18:09SPEAKER_14: Right?
- 18:09SPEAKER_14: So they had they gave everybody had their own move in time.
- 18:13SPEAKER_14: And so we drove up with our van, somebody checked it, uh, checked us in.
- 18:17SPEAKER_14: So are you checking in to uh you know Wentworth?
- 18:20SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 18:21SPEAKER_14: What dorm?
- 18:22SPEAKER_14: This dorm.
- 18:22SPEAKER_14: Okay, what's your name?
- 18:24SPEAKER_14: And then they wrote, okay, so you're gonna pull around the horseshoe or whatever, and they're gonna tell you to park right over there, and then they'll come to you.
- 18:31SPEAKER_14: I was like, okay.
- 18:32SPEAKER_14: So we we went around and they said, Are you in the um I can't remember the name of the dorm, Treadway or something like that?
- 18:39SPEAKER_14: Um Treadstone?
- 18:41SPEAKER_14: Treadstone No, it's not Treadstone.
- 18:42SPEAKER_14: That's Jason Bourne.
- 18:44SPEAKER_14: I know.
- 18:45SPEAKER_02: Is your son going to Jason Bourne school?
- 18:50SPEAKER_14: Well, I can't talk about it, Doug.
- 18:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I know.
- 18:53SPEAKER_14: He's gonna forget about it anyway.
- 19:00SPEAKER_14: Thank you.
- 19:02SPEAKER_14: Um and so they say you were in this dorm.
- 19:05SPEAKER_14: Yes, so they pulled we pulled over.
- 19:06SPEAKER_14: And you know those big laundry uh bins?
- 19:10SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 19:10SPEAKER_14: They had hired a moving company and so they brought two giant bins.
- 19:15SPEAKER_14: They had his name on the bins.
- 19:17SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 19:18SPEAKER_14: They took everything out of our van.
- 19:19SPEAKER_14: He helped him, you know.
- 19:20SPEAKER_14: I was like, I need this and this and this.
- 19:22SPEAKER_14: They put them in those di giant laundry bins, and they moved them up to his room.
- 19:26SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 19:27SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 19:28SPEAKER_14: And we went to park in the parking garage, because which was, you know, not across town, but it was, you know, down a few blocks.
- 19:35SPEAKER_14: Wow.
- 19:35SPEAKER_14: So we parked in the parking garage and then we walked back to the dorm and went up, and it was already in his room, and we're just kind of putting stuff where it needs to be.
- 19:44SPEAKER_14: So it was, I mean, it was slick.
- 19:46SPEAKER_14: And then is that just like a freshman thing or is that like every time?
- 19:50SPEAKER_14: It's everything.
- 19:50SPEAKER_14: I think it's every time.
- 19:51SPEAKER_14: Well, you know what?
- 19:52SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 19:52SPEAKER_14: But I I'm pretty sure it's every time.
- 19:54SPEAKER_02: Well, I mean, that's the way it should be, as much money as you give these places.
- 19:57SPEAKER_02: Right, it's true.
- 19:58SPEAKER_02: Really should be.
- 19:59SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 19:59SPEAKER_02: You know.
- 20:00SPEAKER_14: And it's funny because he's he's in a they ran out of rooms.
- 20:05SPEAKER_14: So he's in he's freshmen don't normally get a suite, but he's in a suite.
- 20:09SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 20:10SPEAKER_14: With ten guys.
- 20:11SPEAKER_02: Holy crap.
- 20:12SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:12SPEAKER_02: That's not a suite, that's a whole friggin' apartment building.
- 20:14SPEAKER_14: Well, I mean, it's when I It's like a barracks.
- 20:16SPEAKER_14: When I say it's it's a suite, it's he has his own room with his roommate.
- 20:20SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 20:21SPEAKER_14: And they have a bathroom right next to them.
- 20:23SPEAKER_14: But if you walk down the hall, there's other rooms.
- 20:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 20:26SPEAKER_14: And then there's this common area.
- 20:28SPEAKER_14: So it's it's like.
- 20:32SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 20:32SPEAKER_14: And they all can hang out in the common area.
- 20:34SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 20:35SPEAKER_14: Uh on this one floor or whatever.
- 20:37SPEAKER_14: But he has his own room and stuff.
- 20:39SPEAKER_14: So it they call it a suite.
- 20:41SPEAKER_14: But anyway, we walked in there and there's all these laundry bins with the everybody's name on them, you know, that they haven't uh because they're not coming until the next day or whatever.
- 20:51SPEAKER_14: Oh, right, right.
- 20:52SPEAKER_14: So uh it's just interesting how they did it, but it was slick, it was like a well-oiled machine.
- 20:56SPEAKER_02: Well, that's good though, because that you know takes the chaos out of moving in.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:01SPEAKER_14: And you know, just driving in Boston is stupid.
- 21:05SPEAKER_14: Stupid.
- 21:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 21:06SPEAKER_14: It's really it's I mean, we made it through and it was my third time doing it.
- 21:11SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 21:11SPEAKER_14: You know, um, so I I got a little used to it.
- 21:15SPEAKER_14: Um, but I don't want to get used to it anymore.
- 21:18SPEAKER_02: Well, Boston is interesting because a lot of like like if you go to DC, everything's laid out.
- 21:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:24SPEAKER_02: It was planned out.
- 21:25SPEAKER_02: Boston's like, you know, the Irish got super drunk and then then just made up the roads from there.
- 21:30SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 21:31SPEAKER_14: No, it's true.
- 21:32SPEAKER_02: You know, it driving in anywhere in Massachusetts is like curvy this, that, not where am I?
- 21:40SPEAKER_14: I have to say, what did we ever do without like the maps uh app?
- 21:48SPEAKER_14: You know, I've mine mine is a uh uh an Irish lady, you know, who talks to me.
- 21:55SPEAKER_14: Oh Syria, yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_14: You know, so I'm so I'm do you use Apple Maps or Google Maps?
- 22:00SPEAKER_14: I use Apple maps.
- 22:01SPEAKER_02: Apparently that's not really good.
- 22:02SPEAKER_14: What do you mean?
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Apparently there's a lot of problems with Apple Maps.
- 22:06SPEAKER_14: Well, she got me where I needed to go.
- 22:07SPEAKER_14: Okay, well that's good.
- 22:08SPEAKER_14: So but uh I guess I should move that 'cause I can hear it making making noise.
- 22:13SPEAKER_14: Um so but I mean I'm thinking about that as I'm driving through town.
- 22:17SPEAKER_14: So um you know Oh, we used to have those folding maps.
- 22:20SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 22:21SPEAKER_14: State but she's she said stay in the left lane and uh when you get to the lights, take a left.
- 22:27SPEAKER_14: You know and I'm like w before that, you're right.
- 22:30SPEAKER_14: We would be like we'd have a navigator.
- 22:32SPEAKER_02: Yes, whoever whoever was riding shotgun is the navigator.
- 22:35SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 22:36SPEAKER_02: You're you're you're in charge of the map.
- 22:38SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 22:38SPEAKER_14: So and my wife would be the navigator even with Siri.
- 22:41SPEAKER_18: Right.
- 22:42SPEAKER_14: You know, and she's like, you gotta turn everything out.
- 22:44SPEAKER_14: Oh, no, sorry, I was wrong.
- 22:45SPEAKER_14: There's a lot of that.
- 22:47SPEAKER_14: But I would be the same way with her.
- 22:49SPEAKER_14: So um, but yeah, so we got out of there and we we were supposed to stay another night at camp, but my wife had way too much work to do.
- 22:58SPEAKER_14: So we got out of there about 1 30, something like that, and we just drove home.
- 23:04SPEAKER_02: Oh, so you can you didn't go back to camp?
- 23:06SPEAKER_14: We didn't go back to camp.
- 23:07SPEAKER_14: We we we drove all the way home.
- 23:08SPEAKER_14: She drove all the way home because my vote was to stay at camp for another night.
- 23:12SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 23:12SPEAKER_14: And I said, okay, well, if we're going, you're driving.
- 23:15SPEAKER_14: So I got us out of Boston.
- 23:17SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 23:18SPEAKER_14: Uh got us to uh uh Wells.
- 23:22SPEAKER_14: Yeah, I got us to Wells, and then she took over and she drove the rest of the way.
- 23:25SPEAKER_02: Well, once you get back on the interstate, it's actually pretty easy.
- 23:28SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you know, it's just driving in Boston itself.
- 23:31SPEAKER_14: It's like oh yeah, yeah.
- 23:33SPEAKER_14: Um, but yeah, I know he's uh we've been trying to check in with him, and he's he's a typical, you know.
- 23:40SPEAKER_14: How how's it going?
- 23:41SPEAKER_14: Good.
- 23:44SPEAKER_14: How was your classes?
- 23:46SPEAKER_14: Fine.
- 23:47SPEAKER_14: He did have a four-hour architecture class yesterday.
- 23:51SPEAKER_14: Yeah, and then a two-hour uh English class last night.
- 23:55SPEAKER_14: So but he's making up for it by going to see the Red Sox today.
- 23:59SPEAKER_14: Well, that's that's all right.
- 24:02SPEAKER_14: Hopefully he's holding up okay.
- 24:03SPEAKER_14: I'm sure yeah.
- 24:04SPEAKER_14: I think he's got um I think he he did say he's forever the competitor because when we we did get a few words out of him, he'd say, I killed everybody at kickball today.
- 24:14SPEAKER_14: Kickball.
- 24:16SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah?
- 24:18SPEAKER_02: Um he's a jock.
- 24:21SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't think he's going to a jock school.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: No, he's not.
- 24:23SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so you know, he's probably he's probably, you know, in physically speaking, he's probably heads and shoulders all over the world.
- 24:29SPEAKER_14: I think you're probably right.
- 24:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 24:31SPEAKER_14: So um all right, let's get back to this.
- 24:33SPEAKER_14: Squirrel.
- 24:34SPEAKER_14: Squirrel.
- 24:35SPEAKER_14: Uh by the way, uh Carionni was not happy with our last podcast.
- 24:40SPEAKER_14: Oh well.
- 24:40SPEAKER_14: Because we can't all be winners.
- 24:42SPEAKER_14: We all kind of we we do what we do.
- 24:44SPEAKER_02: We just kind of go all over the Well, it was either that or listen to us like.
- 24:49SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 24:49SPEAKER_14: What do you think?
- 24:51SPEAKER_14: What do you think?
- 24:51SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 24:52SPEAKER_02: Who'd cousin Larry take?
- 24:54SPEAKER_02: I hate Bob.
- 24:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 24:57SPEAKER_02: Although that did make the cut.
- 24:58SPEAKER_14: That did make the cut.
- 25:01SPEAKER_14: Um so let's get back to this.
- 25:03SPEAKER_14: So the the the jobs that 26 rock and metal musicians had before they were famous.
- 25:09SPEAKER_14: What do you think Ozzie Osborne did before he was famous?
- 25:12SPEAKER_02: Well, considering where he's from, he probably worked in a steel factory or mill or something.
- 25:17SPEAKER_14: Uh nope.
- 25:18SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 25:19SPEAKER_14: I don't know then.
- 25:21SPEAKER_14: It is appropriate though.
- 25:24SPEAKER_14: Uh the most notable job that he had was a stint in a slaughterhouse where he actually had to cut the cow carcasses open.
- 25:32SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay.
- 25:32SPEAKER_14: Well that makes sense.
- 25:33SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 25:34SPEAKER_14: That makes sense.
- 25:34SPEAKER_14: Chris Cornell.
- 25:35SPEAKER_14: What do you think Chris Cornell did?
- 25:37SPEAKER_02: Uh he was probably a barista at Starbucks.
- 25:41SPEAKER_14: Nope.
- 25:42SPEAKER_14: Think Seattle.
- 25:43SPEAKER_14: Think Splash.
- 25:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, he worked at a fish market?
- 25:47SPEAKER_02: He did.
- 25:48SPEAKER_14: He was a fishmonger?
- 25:49SPEAKER_14: He he spent uh years as a fish handler for a seafood company.
- 25:53SPEAKER_14: Um he had to wipe the slime and throw away the fish cuts.
- 25:56SPEAKER_14: Nice.
- 25:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 25:57SPEAKER_14: Fun, fun.
- 25:58SPEAKER_14: Lemmy.
- 25:59SPEAKER_14: What do you think Lemmy did?
- 26:00SPEAKER_14: Lemmy was some sort of criminal.
- 26:03SPEAKER_14: Uh he actually used to work as Jimi Hendrix's roadie.
- 26:06SPEAKER_14: Oh, that's right.
- 26:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: He was I didn't know that's why he that's why he played bass because he could Jimmy's roadie.
- 26:11SPEAKER_02: He was like, I can't do that.
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: So I'm gonna play bass.
- 26:13SPEAKER_02: I guess I didn't realize that.
- 26:15SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:15SPEAKER_14: No, I didn't I didn't know that.
- 26:16SPEAKER_14: Yep.
- 26:17SPEAKER_14: Uh Kurt Cobain, what was Kurt, what did what did Kurt do?
- 26:21SPEAKER_02: I think he worked like in a convenience store or something.
- 26:24SPEAKER_14: Uh nope.
- 26:26SPEAKER_14: He was a a janitor.
- 26:27SPEAKER_14: Huh.
- 26:28SPEAKER_14: Uh he said, but we'd we'd always have to do some kind of art, usually defacing something.
- 26:32SPEAKER_14: He never had like idle hands, it just came out of him.
- 26:34SPEAKER_14: He had to express himself.
- 26:37SPEAKER_14: That was from the uh documentary called A Montage of Heck.
- 26:40SPEAKER_14: Anyway.
- 26:41SPEAKER_14: Uh Tony Iomi from Black Sabbath, what do you think he did?
- 26:45SPEAKER_02: I don't know, he's probably working alongside Ozzy.
- 26:49SPEAKER_14: If you remember his finger, right?
- 26:51SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he got it cut off.
- 26:52SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 26:52SPEAKER_14: Do you know how?
- 26:53SPEAKER_14: It's probably in a mill.
- 26:55SPEAKER_14: He was working in a sheet metal factory.
- 26:57SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 26:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 26:58SPEAKER_14: And had an accident that resulted in the tips of his fingers being cut off.
- 27:01SPEAKER_14: And of course, you know, he had to downtune his guitar to make it easier to play, and that's why Black Sabbath sounds so dark and heavy.
- 27:07SPEAKER_02: Oh makes sense.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 27:08SPEAKER_02: Axel.
- 27:15SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't remember.
- 27:16SPEAKER_02: I read I read I read the biography of Guns N' Roses like years ago.
- 27:20SPEAKER_14: Um he was manager at Tower Records.
- 27:22SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah, okay.

- 27:46SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 27:47SPEAKER_14: At the Valencia Hotel in Laho is it La Hola?
- 27:50SPEAKER_14: La Jala, California.
- 27:54SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:54SPEAKER_14: Yeah, who's a security guard?
- 27:55SPEAKER_02: I thought he was from Seattle for some reason.
- 27:57SPEAKER_14: I think he is from Seattle, but he worked in California.
- 28:00SPEAKER_14: Oh, okay.
- 28:00SPEAKER_14: Debbie Harry from Blondie.
- 28:03SPEAKER_14: Supermodel.
- 28:04SPEAKER_14: Close.
- 28:05SPEAKER_14: She was a Playboy Bunny.
- 28:06SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:07SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:07SPEAKER_14: At a New York City club from 68 to 73.
- 28:10SPEAKER_14: Makes sense.
- 28:11SPEAKER_14: Fred Durst.
- 28:13SPEAKER_14: Douchebag?
- 28:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah, from uh Limp Biscuit.
- 28:16SPEAKER_14: What do you think?
- 28:16SPEAKER_14: What do you think he did?
- 28:17SPEAKER_14: Professional douchebag.
- 28:20SPEAKER_14: I have no idea what he did.
- 28:21SPEAKER_14: He was a tattoo artist.
- 28:23SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 28:23SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:24SPEAKER_14: I didn't know that.

- 28:31SPEAKER_14: Before he had Third Man Records, he had Third Man Upholstery.
- 28:34SPEAKER_14: Upholstery.
- 28:35SPEAKER_14: He learned the craft during an apprenticeship.
- 28:37SPEAKER_14: He started at 15.
- 28:38SPEAKER_14: He then hit early records of his music in some of the furniture he worked on.
- 28:41SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 28:42SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:42SPEAKER_14: That's kind of neat.
- 28:43SPEAKER_14: That is neat.
- 28:44SPEAKER_14: Rob Halford from Judas Priest.
- 28:46SPEAKER_14: What do you think he did?
- 28:46SPEAKER_02: Oh, who knows?
- 28:48SPEAKER_14: He was a lighting engineer in a theater.
- 28:51SPEAKER_14: Really?
- 28:51SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 28:51SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 28:52SPEAKER_14: Tom Morello.
- 28:56SPEAKER_14: No idea.
- 28:57SPEAKER_14: Did you know he graduated from Harvard?
- 28:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah, he's really he's wicked smart.
- 29:00SPEAKER_14: I didn't realize he went to Harvard.
- 29:01SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 29:02SPEAKER_14: Uh he had to work media labor and at one point even worked as an exotic dancer.
- 29:06SPEAKER_02: Really?
- 29:07SPEAKER_14: Brick House was my jam.
- 29:09SPEAKER_14: I did bachelorette parties and I'd go down to my boxer shorts.
- 29:13SPEAKER_14: You could make decent money doing that job.
- 29:15SPEAKER_14: People do what they have to do.
- 29:17SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 29:18SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:19SPEAKER_14: Mick Jagger, what do you think he did?
- 29:21SPEAKER_02: Who's the guy you skipped?
- 29:22SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 29:23SPEAKER_14: That's why I skipped it.
- 29:24SPEAKER_14: Ivan Moody?
- 29:26SPEAKER_02: I don't know who that is.
- 29:27SPEAKER_14: I don't either.
- 29:28SPEAKER_14: Uh what do you think Mick Jagger did?
- 29:30unknown: Oh, I don't know.
- 29:32SPEAKER_02: Hard telling.
- 29:33SPEAKER_14: He was running errands as a hospital porter in a psychiatric facility.
- 29:37SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 29:37SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 29:38SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 29:39SPEAKER_14: Uh Noodles from the Offspring was also a janitor.
- 29:43SPEAKER_14: Joe Strummer.
- 29:45SPEAKER_14: Uh had uh his most disturbing job prior to being in the clash was working as a gravedigger at uh St.
- 29:52SPEAKER_14: Ullo Cemetery in Newport, UK.
- 29:54SPEAKER_14: Now, see, I would have thought Ozzie was a gravedigger.
- 29:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that would have made more sense.
- 29:57SPEAKER_14: Courtney Love, what do you think she did?
- 30:01SPEAKER_02: I can't say on the air.
- 30:03SPEAKER_14: Well, you probably could.
- 30:07SPEAKER_14: CIA assassin.
- 30:09SPEAKER_14: No.

- 30:11SPEAKER_14: Stripper.
- 30:12SPEAKER_14: She was a stripper.
- 30:13SPEAKER_14: Was she really?
- 30:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:13SPEAKER_02: That makes sense.
- 30:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:15SPEAKER_14: Um Randy Blythe from Lamb Lamb of God.
- 30:18SPEAKER_14: I don't know who.
- 30:18SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 30:19SPEAKER_14: Freddie Mercury.
- 30:19SPEAKER_14: What do you think Freddie Mercury did?
- 30:24SPEAKER_14: Didn't he work at a clothing store?
- 30:26SPEAKER_14: He had several jobs.
- 30:28SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:28SPEAKER_14: Um, and they but they only point out one was a baggage handler at Heathrow Airport in London.
- 30:34SPEAKER_14: Oh.
- 30:35SPEAKER_14: Sammy.
- 30:36SPEAKER_14: Now we must Sammy Sammy did everything.
- 30:38SPEAKER_14: Sammy did everything.
- 30:39SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:39SPEAKER_14: He was like construction.
- 30:40SPEAKER_14: He started working at the age of four, picking raspberries to buy shoes for school.
- 30:45SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:45SPEAKER_14: Years later he ran the music department at a store and then spent a few months driving a dump truck in New York.
- 30:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:50SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 30:51SPEAKER_14: That's all in his book, though.
- 30:52SPEAKER_14: Chester Bennington, the late great from uh Lincoln Park.
- 30:56SPEAKER_14: Uh let's see.
- 30:57SPEAKER_14: He worked at Burger King.
- 30:59SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 30:59SPEAKER_14: Before uh before Lincoln Park.
- 31:01SPEAKER_14: Rob Zombie was a production assistant.
- 31:04SPEAKER_14: This is funny.
- 31:04SPEAKER_14: Did you know this?
- 31:05SPEAKER_14: What?
- 31:06SPEAKER_14: Rob Zombie was a uh production assistant on the set of Pee-Wee's Playhouse before we explains a lot.
- 31:15SPEAKER_14: It does.
- 31:17SPEAKER_14: Trent Reznor worked at Wright Track Studio in Cleveland as an assistant engineer and janitor after attending school for computer engineering.
- 31:26SPEAKER_14: Makes sense.
- 31:26SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it does make sense.
- 31:27SPEAKER_14: Makes sense.
- 31:27SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's why he is where he is today.
- 31:30SPEAKER_14: Josh Holm from uh Queens of the Stone Age and them them killer vultures.
- 31:36SPEAKER_14: Them uh Crooked Vultures Vultures, yeah.
- 31:38SPEAKER_14: Uh worked uh on his grandfather's farm in Palm Desert, uh all the way up to the release of the debut album from Queens of the Stone Age, actually.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_02: Interesting.
- 31:47SPEAKER_14: So um very cool.
- 31:48SPEAKER_14: Just neat to see what some of these uh guys did to pave their way uh to where they are now.
- 31:54SPEAKER_14: So it's kind of neat.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: Well I was like uh Elvis Costello was a computer programmer.
- 31:59SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 32:00SPEAKER_02: You know, so I mean, you know, they they you know you never know what people do in you know before before they become like famous again.
- 32:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 32:10SPEAKER_14: We of course uh had a podcast before we became famous.
- 32:14SPEAKER_14: Wait.
- 32:15SPEAKER_02: I'm still waiting for the famous part.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: When's that gonna happen?
- 32:19SPEAKER_14: Same.
- 32:20SPEAKER_14: Same.
- 32:21SPEAKER_14: I'd settle for infamous.
- 32:23SPEAKER_14: Um let's move on to this because uh I gotta tell you.
- 32:28SPEAKER_14: Where did that go?
- 32:29SPEAKER_14: I had I had uh right there.
- 32:32SPEAKER_14: Is this is this music?
- 32:33SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 32:34SPEAKER_02: I don't know what it is.
- 32:34SPEAKER_14: This is music.
- 32:35SPEAKER_14: Okay, so these uh Chuck Klosterman's hypertheticals.
- 32:40SPEAKER_14: Oh, right.
- 32:41SPEAKER_14: 50 questions for insane conversations.
- 32:44SPEAKER_14: Uh I went through some of these.
- 32:45SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 32:46SPEAKER_14: Um we can't do a lot of them.
- 32:49SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 32:50SPEAKER_14: Um, because I should say we shouldn't do, because some of them are just like whack.
- 32:56SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 32:57SPEAKER_14: I picked out a few.
- 32:58SPEAKER_14: Um, and I'm gonna go with one today.
- 33:01SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:02SPEAKER_14: This one's called You're the Boss.
- 33:03SPEAKER_02: Well, isn't it my turn to do it for you?
- 33:05SPEAKER_02: Oh, is it?
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 33:06SPEAKER_02: I already read it though.
- 33:07SPEAKER_14: But here.
- 33:08SPEAKER_14: Well, I'll I'll read it.
- 33:09SPEAKER_14: You'll read it.
- 33:09SPEAKER_14: Okay, you do it.
- 33:10SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 33:11SPEAKER_02: Which which part of my reading?
- 33:12SPEAKER_14: You read the back.
- 33:13SPEAKER_02: Well, what all of it?
- 33:15SPEAKER_14: All of it.
- 33:15SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 33:17SPEAKER_14: I haven't thought about it.
- 33:18SPEAKER_14: I read it, but I haven't thought about it.
- 33:19SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 33:20SPEAKER_02: Well, let's see.
- 33:21SPEAKER_02: One morning you awake and immediately feel strange.
- 33:25SPEAKER_02: You get out of bed and realize that you are inside a posh hotel room you've never seen before.
- 33:30SPEAKER_02: There's an attractive red-headed stranger sleeping in the bed alongside of you.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 33:36SPEAKER_02: Hmm.
- 33:37SPEAKER_02: You frantically get out.
- 33:39SPEAKER_02: Why would you frantically get up?
- 33:40SPEAKER_02: I don't understand this.
- 33:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, why you frantically get up and rush into the bathroom, you look into the mirror, much to your utter amazement, the image looking back at you is Bruce Springsteen.
- 33:50SPEAKER_02: Oh well, this sucked.
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: Uh somehow you have magically become Bruce Springsteen.
- 33:56SPEAKER_02: You start talking to yourself, and the voice you hear is Springsteen's speaking voice.
- 34:00SPEAKER_02: You quietly sing to yourself, and it sounds like the Springsteen singing voice.
- 34:05SPEAKER_02: You walk back into your hotel.
- 34:07SPEAKER_02: Well, you're already in the hotel room.
- 34:08SPEAKER_02: Why does it say you walk back into the hotel room?
- 34:10SPEAKER_02: You're already in the hotel.
- 34:11SPEAKER_02: You're just in the bathroom.
- 34:12SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 34:13SPEAKER_02: That's dumb.
- 34:15SPEAKER_02: Of course, it's a Springsteen question, so.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: And seeing an acoustic guitar, you attempt to play it, but your musicianship is identical to how it was when you were your previous self.
- 34:26SPEAKER_02: In other words, you have Bruce Springsteen's physical body and vocal cords, but you have your own mind and skills, and all your experiences and memories are unchanged.
- 34:35SPEAKER_02: You your knowledge of Springsteen's lyrics and the details of his personal life are the same as they always were.
- 34:43SPEAKER_02: You are inside Springsteen.
- 34:45SPEAKER_02: Oh man, that's got to be the name of the podcast, Inside Springsteen.
- 34:50SPEAKER_02: That's what we're calling it.
- 34:51SPEAKER_14: Inside Springsteen or Inside the Boss?
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: No.
- 34:53SPEAKER_02: No, Inside Springsteen.
- 34:54SPEAKER_02: Inside Springsteen.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 34:55SPEAKER_02: That's what we call it.
- 34:56SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 34:56SPEAKER_02: But you are still yourself.
- 34:58SPEAKER_02: Your brain is unchanged.
- 35:00SPEAKER_02: You open the door of the hotel room and you see a copy of the Los Angeles Times.
- 35:05SPEAKER_02: You flip to the entertainment section and discover that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are scheduled to perform a concert that night at the Staples Center.
- 35:14SPEAKER_02: What do you do in this situation?
- 35:17SPEAKER_02: How do you proceed?
- 35:19SPEAKER_14: Okay, well.
- 35:24SPEAKER_14: Because if I think about this.
- 35:27SPEAKER_14: Well, you're lucky because you can already play guitar.
- 35:30SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 35:31SPEAKER_14: So but do I want to torpedo the boss's career?
- 35:36SPEAKER_14: Well, that's up to you.
- 35:37SPEAKER_14: I mean, that's that's the whole question.
- 35:39SPEAKER_14: Like, like that's the question.
- 35:40SPEAKER_14: Like, do I because you know, I feel I feel, um, maybe this is maybe this is political.
- 35:47unknown: Maybe it's political, I don't know.
- 35:50SPEAKER_14: But I feel a lot about Bruce Springsteen a lot like I do about Robert De Niro.
- 35:55SPEAKER_02: Sure.
- 35:56SPEAKER_14: You know, and so I just need him to shut up for a while.
- 35:59SPEAKER_02: And I but you're singing, so it's it's different.
- 36:03SPEAKER_14: Right, but I think what I would probably do is I would go up on stage with my guitar and I would do I'm driving in my car.
- 36:18SPEAKER_14: The Elmer Fudd version.
- 36:19SPEAKER_14: Oh, yeah.
- 36:20SPEAKER_14: Which would get a laugh at first.
- 36:21SPEAKER_14: Sure.
- 36:22SPEAKER_14: But then I would do Born uh Born to Run as Elmer Fudd.
- 36:28SPEAKER_14: So you do the whole show.
- 36:29SPEAKER_14: Then I would do Yeah, Dancing in the Dark as Elmer Fudd.
- 36:32SPEAKER_14: Okay, you know, and uh see what the New York Times says about that.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: No, the Los Angeles Times.
- 36:39SPEAKER_14: Um something's wrong with the boss, you know, or or or whatever.
- 36:44SPEAKER_14: Um I don't know.
- 36:46SPEAKER_14: Would I do that?
- 36:48SPEAKER_14: Would I try and sing?
- 36:51SPEAKER_14: Because I mean, I mean, I I have an opportunity to get on stage in front of like thousands and thousands and thousands of people, right?
- 36:58SPEAKER_14: I would but I would be I would look like Springsteen, I wouldn't sound like him.
- 37:03SPEAKER_02: No, no, you sound like him, apparently.
- 37:04SPEAKER_14: No, singing voices, yeah.
- 37:06SPEAKER_14: You have Bruce Springsteen's physical body, oh, and vocal cords.
- 37:09SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 37:09SPEAKER_14: But you have your own mind and skills, and all of your experiences and memories are unchanged.
- 37:14SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 37:14SPEAKER_14: Your knowledge of Springsteen lyrics and the details of his personal life are the same as they always were.
- 37:19SPEAKER_14: So I don't know all the words of Springsteen songs.
- 37:23SPEAKER_14: So what would I do?
- 37:25SPEAKER_02: Well, you though you know, they usually have a teleprompter anyway, so yeah.
- 37:29SPEAKER_14: So I'd probably do it.
- 37:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah, why not?
- 37:31SPEAKER_14: Just give it a shot, just just for the experience.
- 37:33SPEAKER_02: And honestly, how much does the boss play guitar?
- 37:36SPEAKER_02: A lot.
- 37:37SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean he does, but you know, you could, you know, play it all.
- 37:41SPEAKER_14: You know, if you don't know.
- 37:43SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I mean, yeah, you know, the world-class musicians there.
- 37:46SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 37:47SPEAKER_14: So I could, I could, I could take my guitar off and nobody would ask any questions.
- 37:51SPEAKER_02: No, they'd just be like, ah, that's pretty good.
- 37:54SPEAKER_14: But I so I do sound like him then.
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 37:57SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 37:57SPEAKER_14: I could pull it off.
- 37:58SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 37:59SPEAKER_14: That'd be fun.
- 38:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 38:01SPEAKER_14: And then I'd spit on everybody in the front row.
- 38:05SPEAKER_02: Okay, that's a little extreme.
- 38:07SPEAKER_02: All right.
- 38:08SPEAKER_14: Just to get in the paper.
- 38:11SPEAKER_02: I think it gave me the paper anyway.
- 38:13SPEAKER_02: Like all my flood.
- 38:14SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 38:14SPEAKER_14: So all right.
- 38:16SPEAKER_14: So that's uh that's a uh question.
- 38:19SPEAKER_14: Hyperthetical.
- 38:20SPEAKER_14: Hyperthetical question of the week.
- 38:24SPEAKER_14: All right, so now see, I forgot what, you know, I forgot which.
- 38:30SPEAKER_14: Oh yeah, no, I was right.
- 38:32SPEAKER_14: I was right.
- 38:33SPEAKER_14: Are you ready for this?
- 38:35SPEAKER_14: Are we for are we?
- 38:36SPEAKER_14: I don't know.
- 38:37SPEAKER_14: Are we?
- 38:37SPEAKER_14: Are you?
- 38:38SPEAKER_14: I'm ready.
- 38:38SPEAKER_14: Are you ready?
- 38:40SPEAKER_14: I'm ready.
- 38:41SPEAKER_00: It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 38:45SPEAKER_00: Everyone's favorite O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Mr.
- 38:50SPEAKER_00: Judgment.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: Mrs.
- 38:53SPEAKER_00: I'm playing.
- 38:55SPEAKER_14: Mrs.
- 38:55SPEAKER_14: Judgment, Mrs.
- 38:56SPEAKER_01: Judgment.
- 38:58SPEAKER_14: Um, yeah.
- 39:00SPEAKER_14: Uh so do you remember what the question was last week?
- 39:03SPEAKER_14: Nope.
- 39:04SPEAKER_14: I don't either.
- 39:04SPEAKER_14: Not a clue.
- 39:07SPEAKER_14: Alright, so I guess we'll just get feedback from Mr.
- 39:10SPEAKER_14: Judge.
- 39:11SPEAKER_02: We'll see what Ms.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Judges.
- 39:12SPEAKER_02: Mrs.
- 39:13SPEAKER_02: Judgment says judges, yes.
- 39:14SPEAKER_02: Okay, okay.
- 39:15SPEAKER_02: Are you ready?
- 39:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:18SPEAKER_00: Hey guys.
- 39:19SPEAKER_00: This week was really fun for mixtape.
- 39:21SPEAKER_00: I enjoyed listening to the different songs.
- 39:24SPEAKER_00: Um I had to go with Justin this week.
- 39:29SPEAKER_00: Uh that sounds like it would be a really fun song to listen to.
- 39:33SPEAKER_00: Um, kind of chipper on your way to find a big juicy cheeseburger after a big hike.
- 39:40SPEAKER_02: Oh, the hike one.
- 39:42SPEAKER_14: What was his song?
- 39:42SPEAKER_14: Do you remember?
- 39:43SPEAKER_02: Uh oh, proclaimers.
- 39:45SPEAKER_14: What?
- 39:46SPEAKER_02: Proclaimers.
- 39:46SPEAKER_14: Oh, pro Oh, 500 miles.
- 39:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 39:48SPEAKER_14: Yes.
- 39:48SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 39:49SPEAKER_14: All right.
- 39:50SPEAKER_14: So I'm gonna I'm gonna give some j some guidance to Miss Mrs.
- 39:53SPEAKER_14: Judgeness.
- 39:53SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 39:54SPEAKER_14: Because we're old and stupid and we don't remember anything.
- 39:57SPEAKER_14: So when she does her when she does her um her um reply, she should she should say the names of the names of the song.
- 40:10SPEAKER_14: Not necessarily not necessarily all of the songs, but at least the winning one.
- 40:14SPEAKER_18: Right.
- 40:14SPEAKER_14: Yeah, because I you know, I remember what Justin picked, and that doesn't help me remember what the question was.
- 40:20SPEAKER_14: Now I know um because of you.
- 40:22SPEAKER_14: So thank you for that.
- 40:23SPEAKER_02: Well, she well she gave it off, you know she gave it away when uh for sure.
- 40:31SPEAKER_02: Well, you know, we should do due diligence and like actually look at the question.
- 40:37SPEAKER_02: It's right there.
- 40:38SPEAKER_14: So is it right there?
- 40:42SPEAKER_02: Isn't that the one?
- 40:43SPEAKER_14: Oh no, that's the one from you actually you put it away usually.
- 40:46SPEAKER_14: Yeah, that's right.
- 40:47SPEAKER_14: You hide it in the rest of the mix.
- 40:49SPEAKER_02: Maybe maybe maybe I shouldn't do that anymore.
- 40:52SPEAKER_02: Just saying.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 40:54SPEAKER_14: Maybe we should like I don't know.
- 40:56SPEAKER_14: Maybe we should make notes for each show.
- 40:58SPEAKER_02: That would that would take preparation.
- 41:00SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it would.
- 41:01SPEAKER_14: And it would take away from the show, I think.
- 41:02SPEAKER_02: That's that the magic of this show is unpreparedness.
- 41:07SPEAKER_02: Is that a word?
- 41:08SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 41:09SPEAKER_02: I'm not I'm not I'm not gonna prepare to find out.
- 41:12SPEAKER_14: It is a word.
- 41:13SPEAKER_14: It is a word.
- 41:13SPEAKER_14: Unpreparedness.
- 41:14SPEAKER_14: Um I'm yes.
- 41:15SPEAKER_14: Unpreparedness.
- 41:16SPEAKER_14: Yes, it is.
- 41:17SPEAKER_02: I think.
- 41:19SPEAKER_02: I think that's how you say it.
- 41:20SPEAKER_14: Yeah, yeah.
- 41:20SPEAKER_14: You we were ill-prepared.
- 41:22SPEAKER_14: Ill-prepared, that's good.
- 41:23SPEAKER_14: We're ill-prepared, yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_02: Well, we well, I mean, we're not ill-prepared, we're just ill.
- 41:28SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah.
- 41:29SPEAKER_02: Uh but we're more just like fly by the seat of our pants kind of uh uh podcasters.
- 41:36SPEAKER_02: It's true.
- 41:37SPEAKER_02: You know, because every other podcast, they actually have like scripts and research and right.
- 41:45SPEAKER_02: And and listeners.
- 41:46SPEAKER_02: So, you know, I mean, you know, I would just we do this for ourselves anyway.
- 41:50SPEAKER_02: I know.
- 41:52SPEAKER_02: It's just it's really just an ego thing.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: It is.
- 41:54SPEAKER_02: You know, like hey, we're so funny.
- 41:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, everybody else should find out about it.
- 41:59SPEAKER_14: We shouldn't tell people that we actually listen to our own podcast.
- 42:02SPEAKER_02: Well, we have to.
- 42:04SPEAKER_02: Otherwise, there would be no, you know, there'd be very few no listeners.
- 42:07SPEAKER_02: Well, there would be some I mean, cousin Larry will listen to it.
- 42:09SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Mrs.
- 42:10SPEAKER_02: Judgeness listens to it, Bounce and Bob listens to it.
- 42:13SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 42:13SPEAKER_02: Uh Justin listens to it.
- 42:15SPEAKER_14: When we go when we go on road trips around, Kariani listens to it.
- 42:18SPEAKER_14: We always listen to it.
- 42:18SPEAKER_14: So there's at least five people.
- 42:20SPEAKER_14: Do you know that it's when you when you're when you're going, say you're going to Bangor, if I get to Holton and I get on the interstate, I put the podcast on.
- 42:28SPEAKER_14: And by the time the podcast is over, we're in Bangor.
- 42:31SPEAKER_14: Right.
- 42:32SPEAKER_14: It's perfect.
- 42:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 42:33SPEAKER_14: And uh it's fun to listen to because you I relive the conversations.
- 42:38SPEAKER_14: Oh sure, yeah.
- 42:38SPEAKER_14: You know, yeah.
- 42:39SPEAKER_14: It's kind of neat.
- 42:40SPEAKER_14: Anyway.
- 42:41SPEAKER_02: Well that that's that should be our metric from now on.
- 42:43SPEAKER_02: What?
- 42:44SPEAKER_02: Our podcast is a trip to Bangor.
- 42:47SPEAKER_14: Starting in Holton.
- 42:48SPEAKER_14: Starting in Holton.
- 42:49SPEAKER_14: Can't listen to it but tell you to Holton.
- 42:51SPEAKER_14: So we're usually about an hour and a half.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: We're we're an interstate podcast.
- 42:57SPEAKER_02: That should be our tagline or not.
- 42:59SPEAKER_02: O'Brien and Doug.
- 43:00SPEAKER_14: The Interstate Podcast.
- 43:01SPEAKER_02: The Interstate 95 podcast.
- 43:04SPEAKER_02: Why would I want to listen to a podcast about an interstate?
- 43:07SPEAKER_02: That's dumb.
- 43:08SPEAKER_02: You know it's dumb.
- 43:10SPEAKER_02: There's an interstate in Hawaii.
- 43:12SPEAKER_02: No, there's not.
- 43:13SPEAKER_02: Yes, there is.
- 43:14SPEAKER_02: They call it an interstate interstate?
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_02: They have three of them.
- 43:17SPEAKER_02: H1, H2, and H3.
- 43:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's a highway.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:22SPEAKER_02: It's a highway.
- 43:24SPEAKER_02: They call it an interstate.
- 43:26SPEAKER_02: It's technically an interstate.
- 43:29SPEAKER_02: Which is still funny.
- 43:30SPEAKER_14: Yeah, it is.
- 43:31SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 43:32SPEAKER_14: Because it's on an island.
- 43:33SPEAKER_14: They don't go to another state.
- 43:35SPEAKER_14: No.
- 43:36SPEAKER_02: They don't go to another island in the same state.
- 43:38SPEAKER_02: South.
- 43:39SPEAKER_02: Oh my word.
- 43:40SPEAKER_02: It's funny.
- 43:41SPEAKER_02: Well, when I was there, they were still building the H three, so there was only H one and H two.
- 43:46SPEAKER_14: So I just now they probably have five.
- 43:50SPEAKER_02: No, they only have three.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: Just three.
- 43:51SPEAKER_02: You you can't you can't.
- 43:52SPEAKER_02: I mean, there's nowhere else to build. 'Cause most of it it's like protected land anyway.
- 43:57SPEAKER_14: Yeah.
- 43:57SPEAKER_02: You can't you can't develop it.
- 43:59SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 43:59SPEAKER_02: So You can only go squirr on Alan.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Sorry.
- 44:05SPEAKER_02: Squirrel.
- 44:06SPEAKER_01: Squirrel.

- 44:08SPEAKER_14: So we did mix- Oh, we have to do this.
- 44:10SPEAKER_14: We have to do the um We have to give our answers.
- 44:13SPEAKER_14: Yes, we have to give our answers.
- 44:14SPEAKER_14: Here is the question for this week.
- 44:17SPEAKER_14: Picture the girl or boy you had a crush on in your youth.
- 44:21SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 44:22SPEAKER_02: That's what it was.
- 44:23SPEAKER_14: What song do you wish would play in his or her head whenever they see you?
- 44:30SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 44:31SPEAKER_14: Uh did uh Justin take part in this one?
- 44:33SPEAKER_02: I messaged him, I haven't heard that from him.
- 44:36SPEAKER_14: Okay.
- 44:37SPEAKER_14: So do we want to do cousin lyric?
- 44:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, we'll do cousin lyric.
- 44:47SPEAKER_02: Who's Mary?
- 44:51SPEAKER_02: Mixtape.
- 44:52SPEAKER_02: Well, the first song I thought of was Toby Keith's How Do You Like Me Now.
- 44:56SPEAKER_02: But I hope none of my crushes of my youth feel any animosity towards me.
- 45:02SPEAKER_02: I also thought about the only song I know that mentions my name, Del Shannon's Hats Off to Larry.
- 45:09SPEAKER_02: But that doesn't really paint me in a positive light.
- 45:12SPEAKER_02: It's a great song, though.
- 45:13SPEAKER_02: The time of my life from Dirty Dancing would be a good one, but I think I'll go with Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate.
- 45:20SPEAKER_02: Because nothing could be further from the truth than but hope that this that the that's the song they hear.
- 45:26SPEAKER_02: LOL.
- 45:27SPEAKER_02: Honorable mention to Trouble by Lindsay Buckingham.
- 45:30SPEAKER_14: That's a good song, too.
- 45:34SPEAKER_14: That's funny.
- 45:35SPEAKER_14: Sexy thing.
- 45:38SPEAKER_14: So the girl he had a crush on, when she sees him, this is what is in her head.
- 45:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, that's what he's hoping in.
- 45:44SPEAKER_02: Yeah.

- 46:26SPEAKER_14: Alright, what is yours?
- 46:28SPEAKER_02: I don't have one.

- 46:30SPEAKER_02: No.
- 46:30SPEAKER_02: I because I totally forgot about the question.
- 46:33SPEAKER_02: And I'm still thinking about one.
- 46:34SPEAKER_14: Alright, so you want me to do mine?
- 46:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, go ahead and do yours there.
