- 0:00Developing this idea they said yesterday in the Sagdema.
- 0:05I mean the people actually when they get used to certain trait,
- 0:08they hate the other way. That's how far it goes.
- 0:11And so if I'm a guy who likes loud, I get very nervous when
- 0:15someone comes across living life officially the right way and
- 0:18he's quiet and he's low key, it gets me nervous and I get turned
- 0:21off by it. And I'm saying to my saying to
- 0:22people of so and so his, his low key isms, his sketch and all
- 0:27these different things, right? That's what happens.
- 0:28I already figured that. That's what happens.
- 0:30And the same thing you do with any area of life.
- 0:32If you do something the right way, you put down people do it
- 0:35the other way. And not only that, so he's the
- 0:37opposite. If you do something the wrong
- 0:38way, he says you get used to it and he's got to put down people
- 0:41who do it the right way. And you're never going to change
- 0:44if that's how it works, because you put a circle around yourself
- 0:47that does not allow yourself to change.
- 0:48He says the reality is the same way a sick person, he's to go to
- 0:51a Doctor Who tells him do things opposite.
- 0:55You know, if you're eating this diet, change the diet.
- 0:57If you have this regimen, change it.
- 0:59If you, you know, you need to change the atmosphere, change
- 1:03stress, change something that's a doctor changes it, a rabbi or
- 1:07a book or tell the person you have to switch it up.
- 1:10Stop telling yourself that your way is the best way and start
- 1:14realizing that there might be another word.
- 1:15That's what he needs. And it may be that what seems
- 1:19bitter to him is actually sweet. Now he's like this on page 12.
- 1:22This is a very, very common and important to notice character
- 1:27trait. Yes come up.
- 1:30There are many people who want to do things right.
- 1:36There are many people who want to live life the right way.
- 1:38They would love to do things the right way.
- 1:40Problem is they have no idea what's good.
- 1:45The hosnim, Every day they think about how am I going to reach
- 1:50greatness La siga malotell, you know I'm going to reach the
- 1:53tippy top through the serum path.
- 1:55Then I'm a sigimo Tam Koyama and the entire life they never get
- 1:59there. This is a big, big shame.
- 2:01People who are dedicated to becoming good people, they just
- 2:04don't know what the means, how to do it.
- 2:07There are two reasons why people could be in the situation.
- 2:13One of the biggest, they don't know what they fought about,
- 2:18they do not know their faults and they don't identify in their
- 2:23negative ways. This is a very real reality.
- 2:26Who don't man a little Van, If I tell you you're doing anything,
- 2:32go look for Joe and you're looking for job.
- 2:35You have no idea what it looks like.
- 2:36So you go out to know whatever you're searching for.
- 2:38Joe, you can't find them. You go to Ocean Navy searching
- 2:41video, you can't find them. Monmouth Rd.
- 2:43You can't find him because you don't know what he is, right?
- 2:45But feeling capacity, you're going to bumper into him, call
- 2:48it your limit. He might be walking alongside
- 2:50that person but you don't know what he looks like and therefore
- 2:54you won't find him. You found him, but you didn't
- 2:56find him. He says Abu Vigio coshe
- 2:59limitsarto, Even though you're putting a lot of effort, you're
- 3:01putting this Joe search. You're searching high and low
- 3:05for this man named Joe, but you have no idea what it looks like
- 3:08and therefore you're not going to get past first base.
- 3:10You might be literally staring him in the face, you might be
- 3:13sitting and talking to him, but you don't know who he is and
- 3:16therefore you won't find him. He come upon me in your voice so
- 3:19many times Joe bumped to you and you won't identify him.
- 3:25You won't recognize him. Not because you don't see him,
- 3:28not because you're not talking to him, not because he's not
- 3:30there, just because you don't know who he is.
- 3:33Can now, Dama said. This is very probable with
- 3:35people as well, I thought. Be sure Horsham tell me the
- 3:40person is thinking a lot, Maya said.
- 3:42What should I do if I told you start, start.
- 3:45What should I do to make myself great, right?
- 3:48So he sits down, starts to think I'm going to do this, I'm going
- 3:53to do that. He has no background, he has no
- 3:56basis, he has no knowledge of what's good and what's bad.
- 3:59I'm going to do the things that I think are good, right Joshev
- 4:02Tamim Maya Sermachapes Maseto. He's going to search to do good
- 4:06deeds. They are seek Kevan Cheno.
- 4:08My kid has no because he has no idea where he's for.
- 4:12So here's the person who says I'm going to become the best
- 4:15person imaginable. How I'm going to do this that
- 4:19and the other thing. Who said that's the best thing
- 4:21for you? I don't know.
- 4:23I want to be a good person, So and so does it.
- 4:25I want to do the same thing. But he has no clue that for this
- 4:28individual, he just thought at point A, which means he needs to
- 4:32start at first base realizing, listen for you to grow here to
- 4:36become great. Let's first identify where
- 4:39there's a hole, where there's a void.
- 4:41And I'll work at that. And the person has to stop and
- 4:43think about his voice. And the only way he's going to
- 4:45realize his lackings is if he learns this about him.
- 4:48And he listens to classes and he's told by somebody who's real
- 4:52with him, who knows what they're talking about, where this
- 4:54individual is flawed. And then he starts and says, OK,
- 4:57let me work on this series. And there's a concept out there
- 5:00of having one friend. I tried this, didn't work.
- 5:04Having one friend, What does that one friend do to you?
- 5:07That one friend tells you you're a real floss.
- 5:11I mean, you have a guy that now people never really want to tell
- 5:14you. I don't care who they are.
- 5:15They don't want to tell you where you fooled because of the
- 5:17fact that you may not show up the next morning.
- 5:20You may not like them anymore. They don't want to do that.
- 5:23It's very uncomfortable. Who wants to be the guy to show
- 5:26the other person that flows maybe on the floor too.
- 5:28And never, people don't do this, but there's a concept for
- 5:32Tocheja, for Moussa, and actually for efficiency to have
- 5:37that one friend, that sibling, that somebody who tells you
- 5:41who's open with you and tells you where you're floored.
- 5:45And what's funny is. That's what your wife.
- 5:46Does that's what your wife does, by the way?
- 5:48And actually, the truth is, if not for then we would be in a
- 5:51much worse predicament. That's a reality.
- 5:53It's a joke, but it's also very much the truth.
- 5:56If not for the wife, we would be doubling down on our floored
- 5:59ways and we never would be cleaning our our means.
- 6:02The wife helps us straighten ourselves out.
- 6:04That's a reality now. Sometimes a little too much.
- 6:07And sometimes it's also only too often it's also only their view,
- 6:11which means they may not, they may not know exactly what's best
- 6:14for you. They have very good intuition.
- 6:18They do. And they have a very good
- 6:20realization of which way you float.
- 6:21And they tell you you're putting too much effort into this.
- 6:23So you're putting too much time into this and you're, you don't
- 6:26realize you're not being nice in this area.
- 6:27They get you, but really you need to have a person who does
- 6:31what, that person who stops and gives you an overview of your
- 6:35situation that says, listen, I see, I notice I have a friend
- 6:39actually very close to me. And over the last few months
- 6:42I've been talking to him a lot and every day he's got a
- 6:45different issue. He's got an issue with the boss,
- 6:48that issue with the coworker. He's got an issue with this
- 6:50person, the colleague Lily. He's got an issue with the
- 6:53person on top of him, the person under him, and the person equal
- 6:57to him. And I want to tell him it's him,
- 7:00it's him. And, and the truth of the matter
- 7:02is it's actually a deep point because it's not like he's doing
- 7:05anything wrong directly, but he's doing something that's
- 7:08making everyone around him a little bit uncomfortable.
- 7:11He's a little bit obviously too aggressive and therefore the
- 7:13boss is getting nervous. He's basically taking over the
- 7:15boss. He's too aggressive and he's
- 7:17therefore the the coworkers getting nervous and he's out
- 7:20shooting him. He's too aggressive and the guy
- 7:22on him is basically becoming erased.
- 7:24It's one thing, but you go tell a person that they're too
- 7:27aggressive, you go tell the person you know.
- 7:29And I told him this somewhat. They said, listen, I'm going to
- 7:34talk to someone. He spoke to someone.
- 7:36He spoke to the one person that he should not speak to a person
- 7:39that has the exact same opinion and approach to this line of
- 7:44work. So what's that worth?
- 7:45There's nothing he tells me I speak to, all right?
- 7:47He told me, I spoke to this guy and the guy told me that the
- 7:50person complaining about you, who's under you, they're wrong,
- 7:53they're jealous, they're making a mistake, taking the harm,
- 7:57they're off. I said who'd you talk to?
- 7:59Tell me the guy I said Arles is speaking.
- 8:01I think that's the one person you should not speak to.
- 8:04He's a person, in my opinion, who is living his life the exact
- 8:07same way and therefore he believes that that's the way to
- 8:10do the right way to do things. Stop and be real yourself.
- 8:13And what's The funny thing is this person, my friend, unless
- 8:17he gets truth Sirt, he will never realize the reality and he
- 8:23will never strain his ways and he'll double down and triple
- 8:26down and quadruple down, never thinking that he's doing
- 8:29anything wrong. He'll go to certain people.
- 8:31I told him, I think your question, your situation, you
- 8:34need to speak to a Guedor and your predicament where this
- 8:37one's upsetting you and that one's upsetting you, another
- 8:39one's upsetting you, right? All three different levels.
- 8:41I think you need to speak to someone great because it
- 8:43happened to me. It's not oriented business.
- 8:46So he might be saying to himself, I'm doing the right
- 8:48thing and they're jealous, right?
- 8:50I think this is where you have a gadol go to a gadol.
- 8:53So he spoke to someone before he went to the gadol.
- 8:54Not someone said, no, you don't need to go to a gadol.
- 8:56You're doing the right thing. And now what's going to happen?
- 8:59He's going to double down, right?
- 9:01And he's going to, you know, dig his heels in into his way of
- 9:05life, never realizing that maybe, by the way, maybe he's
- 9:08right or maybe he's wrong. This is a concept out there that
- 9:12you need someone to give you some sense of reality.
- 9:15Why? Because of this, because you may
- 9:17be searching for Joe your whole life, me staring him in the
- 9:21face. None of us are bad people.
- 9:24None of us. Every single one of us.
- 9:27If I told you you're going to need a certain degree of
- 9:29self-control, a certain degree of change, and you will become
- 9:33an unbelievable person, you'll take it right now.
- 9:36You'll sign up on a down lines. No question about it.
- 9:39Yeah, but it means some degree of self-control.
- 9:41It means even a little bit. I have to take myself down a
- 9:44notch. I understand.
- 9:45You'll still do it because you want to be a great person.
- 9:47So then why are we not that way or people not that way?
- 9:50Because they're searching for Joe and they're staring him in
- 9:53the face, which means they want to be great people.
- 9:55But they never once identify what it means for them to be
- 9:58great and which areas I need to, I need to identify.
- 10:01Is it for me a little bit more humility or a little bit more
- 10:03arrogance, A little bit more involvement, a little bit less
- 10:06involvement, a little bit more family time, a little less
- 10:09family time, a little more learning, a little less
- 10:11learning, a little more praying, a little less praying, a little
- 10:14more charity. Maybe too much charity right?
- 10:17Helping other people but maybe I shouldn't become a smarter to
- 10:20other people. These are all realities that
- 10:23require clarity and unless that person has the clarity, you can
- 10:27have a person who's a do gooder. FYI, you'll notice them like the
- 10:32most destructive people around outside the Kim.
- 10:35People who try to do good who have no clue what good is they.
- 10:40They change the world's negative, they try to do good
- 10:43and they just don't know what good is.
- 10:45They can get involved in the fight.
- 10:46They choose the wrong side. They get it right.
- 10:48You've seen that all the time. It's a strong statement.
- 10:50I'm not a reality. They may not be most
- 10:53destructive, but up there and destructive are people who get
- 10:56how many people get involved in different political opinions.
- 11:00And it's because they believe in certain belief and they create
- 11:03more fights. Why?
- 11:04Because they want to get involved and bring something
- 11:06out. Now you speak of those people
- 11:08one-on-one. Are they bad people?
- 11:09No, they're good people, putting a lot of money behind the
- 11:13effort, bringing a lot of charity to the effort and they
- 11:16may be adding more bad than good.
- 11:18Why? Because you never stop and
- 11:20identify what is the pure good. Now you need to know person by
- 11:26person is not a general statement.
- 11:27Every individual's got a different version of good.
- 11:30For one person, he may he may not be enough involved in the
- 11:34community. We have to give more time to
- 11:36community. The other guy, he might be too
- 11:39involved and he's taken away from his family want, right?
- 11:42It's the reality we see all the time.
- 11:44Form person he might be too cheap, people out there could
- 11:48use his money. Another person he might be too
- 11:50generous, he has to save for his family.
- 11:52So also reality, one person might be too much a workaholic,
- 11:58other person is too lazy. And they may meet two people
- 12:01with the same predicament, but for them it's different.
- 12:03It's all part of the world we live in.
- 12:05One that might be too much of a disciplinary on his children.
- 12:08The other one is too weak on his children, right?
- 12:10And he's old. One person might be too humble
- 12:13and I let everyone to, to, to step on him.
- 12:16And the other guy is too arrogant and he can't handle
- 12:18anything, right? And this is all, every person's
- 12:20going to have their own compass and all identification.
- 12:24And without realizing what's going to happen through this
- 12:26book and through these me thought, as you look at the mix
- 12:29and you say to yourself, and a little bit more of this, a
- 12:31little bit less of that, and you identify the right Joe and
- 12:34you'll search for him. If you don't identify it, you'll
- 12:37be looking for him your entire life and never realize the
- 12:40truth. And it's a very big shame.
- 12:41Why is it a big shame? Because it's one thing for a
- 12:45person to have a Yitzer hara. That's one thing it's a lot of
- 12:49strong how to fight it. Here's the guy with the hits
- 12:52that I talk. Here's the person that wants to
- 12:54do good. He's already giving himself over
- 12:56there as yet that I talk and said my job is to become a great
- 13:00person. Every rational in Kipord, he has
- 13:02regrets. He has a focus on becoming a
- 13:04great person. He really wants to do good and
- 13:07he has no idea what good is and he want to know if this is
- 13:10common. It's Uber Uber common.
- 13:13There are people who think that they do gooders and they're
- 13:15actually the opposite. Because I never had that.
- 13:18I was just telling him, right? But you're telling me, I thought
- 13:21inside. When a person looks in the
- 13:23mirror, he knows what his flaws are.
- 13:26Maybe if he's really, really honest himself, maybe, And if he
- 13:29puts everything together, but he also needs something to
- 13:32background to understand what is a flaw.
- 13:34But yeah, it could be. If he's very honest himself and
- 13:37he realizes the problems that he keeps facing with relationships,
- 13:40he can identify in relationships where he's flawed, maybe very
- 13:45possible, but still needs. A book pious for sure, to look
- 13:49to yourself in the mirror you want to.
- 13:52No, but you know you. Want to tell yourself that you
- 13:54do it? I hate you, but you know that
- 13:57there's those times where you reel with yourself and say, wow,
- 14:00you know, I really, you know, yeah.
- 14:03I keep doing it. Tell yourself I'm.
- 14:05I'm really a jerk. Like, I don't think anyone says
- 14:07that. No, but there are people right
- 14:08there. No, I don't think you do that.
- 14:09But there are people who stop and say to themselves, listen to
- 14:12that conversation ended funny and it keeps ending funny in all
- 14:15those relationships keep going up and smoke and why I have a
- 14:18problem with every sibling or why I have a problem with all my
- 14:22children are officially a nice guy.
- 14:23And what you know, you start to realize, hey, maybe I'm doing
- 14:25something a little bit too much this too much that.
- 14:28Now that's not the healthiest approach totally because you
- 14:32might be boxing yourself in based on your, you know, based
- 14:36on reactions to situations. A better approach is that wakes
- 14:40you up and then the book gives you clarity, which means life is
- 14:45the greatest musad book. Life and its outcomes make you
- 14:49do musad. They are musad because if I
- 14:51notice I'm having a problem with a lot of people, I'm having a
- 14:54problem every day, or I'm in a bad mood every day, or if I
- 14:57notice that a lot of things are not working out the way I like
- 14:59them to, specifically when it comes to character development,
- 15:02then I'm going to realize that there's a flaw here.
- 15:05I'm working myself, but I might just, you know, some person told
- 15:09me I have a problem. I could.
- 15:11Confuse. You short confusion, meditation
- 15:14and. You see them getting successful
- 15:16and so people are doing good and they're not successful.
- 15:18Oh, for sure, when it comes. That's why I said character.
- 15:20When it comes to wealth and business, it is not a very good,
- 15:24healthy tool to use. Because you might back me, you
- 15:27may say, oh, someone's so successful, he does that and I'm
- 15:30not successful and I run a regular business.
- 15:32That's a very dangerous tool to use because so and so might be
- 15:34illegal, It might be doing these dishonest, it might be doing
- 15:37these wrong and just OK. Hashem wanted him to have that
- 15:41well and. How it came and how it did.
- 15:44And I fully agree, you do not adapt other people's ways, you
- 15:47adopt maybe based on character only 100%.
- 15:51So he says one reason that the person might be living life the
- 15:54wrong way even if he's trying to do a good thing, because he has
- 15:56no idea what good is. And the other one is because
- 15:59it's a little lazy, the opposite guy.
- 16:05He knows his flaws and he wants to get out of them.
- 16:09But I say drop lazy because he knows his flaws, he knows what's
- 16:16good. The problem is he will never
- 16:22reach his promised land because he's a little lazy to work on
- 16:29himself. So 2 opposite people, one person
- 16:31is motivated, dedicated, he'll do anything to change.
- 16:35He just has no clue what change means.
- 16:37And the other guy knows what's good, He knows right from wrong.
- 16:40He's a balaam. What's a balaam?
- 16:43Balaam is the person who made The Who said Talmud Nashi.
- 16:47I want to die along with the Jewish people, with the greatest
- 16:49Jewish people, but I want to live like a balaam, want to die
- 16:54like them and live like this. Which means he knows the truth,
- 16:58but he's lazy. You know, he's right from home,
- 17:00but he just doesn't have the dedication, the effort, the
- 17:04strength to be able to push forward, right?
- 17:07How common is this? Extremely common.
- 17:10How many people know? Because it's a simple example.
- 17:12How many people know that going to sleep late is a bad idea?
- 17:15How many kids know going to sleep late is a bad idea?
- 17:17Right? They recognize it.
- 17:18They wake up the next day, they're groggy.
- 17:20It takes till 12:00 in the afternoon to get themselves out
- 17:22of it. They know and they say to
- 17:24themselves, tonight I'm going to sleep early.
- 17:26And then what happens tonight comes and then they're on their
- 17:29phone. They're checking something and
- 17:31then again they're going to sleep OK tomorrow.
- 17:35Then it happens again and again and again for years and years
- 17:39and years. And he's saying these up that
- 17:41only this person had a little bit more effort to drop more
- 17:46effort to shut the phone, to close his eyes, to call today
- 17:51that person who has the knowledge that all that's right
- 17:55and what's wrong for him, That person would have a completely
- 17:58different day of a different life.
- 17:59OK, that's schedule. Have our relationships.
- 18:03How many people know that they they they keep doing the wrong
- 18:06thing. They keep messing up with their
- 18:08wife. They keep saying a comment
- 18:09that's off, keep saying it. OK, not going to say it again.
- 18:12Next conversation, they say it again, not going to say it
- 18:15again. And you say that's ridiculous.
- 18:17He's not ridiculous. He's normal.
- 18:19He knows exactly right from wrong.
- 18:21And the proof where do you see that people know right from
- 18:24wrong very often is ask them advice.
- 18:28An outsider asks any one of us any good personal advice.
- 18:31They're going to get very solid advice often times.
- 18:35Yet your own lives are not perfect at all.
- 18:37There are people I know that give mother in
- 18:52And they are the worst mother in law's imaginable.
- 18:55How's that possible? They didn't get involved.
- 18:58They say their own comment, they talk to their son-in-law, they
- 19:00make problems. How's that possible?
- 19:04The answer is literally that they know right from wrong.
- 19:07They just cannot have the strength to hold their mouth
- 19:09shut or have the strength to shut their mind to allow things
- 19:13to be. And that's because have the
- 19:15second challenge we have over here.
- 19:16So we're facing 2 situations like a coach.
- 19:19He was never a good player, but he knows to.
- 19:21Tell you what's Yeah, 100%. The only thing is the coach
- 19:24doesn't have the physical ability.
- 19:25Here you have a person that's got the maybe not exactly.
- 19:27That's that's a perfect example, literally, And that's how it
- 19:30works. So either a person with talent
- 19:34without the X is a nose, or be the person with the X is a nose
- 19:37without the talent. Our job is to eventually get
- 19:40both, which means no ride from Rome and execute.
- 19:44If we get both those points, we will be great.
- 19:46That's the idea of the book.
