- Lynn: Hello and welcome to tonight's episode of the Occultinarium. are the voices of the Occultinarium, and your hosts are Adriana: Adriana Luigi: Luigi. Amelie: Amelie Lynn: and Lynn. tonight's episode we are to cover another one of the pagan holidays. today's date if I'm not entirely mistaken should be the 14th of June. It's a Sunday. well midsummer night coming up soon so we'll want to release this episode before the time. And as you can see we are wearing our pagan a tradition of us, ⁓ I and ⁓ done a few last episodes we've done interviews. ⁓ so we didn't do our tradition of doing a tarot card. plus we've actually also broken into the tarot sessions where we analyse ⁓ a a tarot card ⁓ of the deck and and corresponding cards. ⁓ in in one episode so we didn't do an extra card there either you can check it out in our channel though if you want to hear about the nine of swords a favorite card that was last episode this honor goes to Luigi so he shall shuffle the cards and pull one card in ⁓ private is secret ⁓ will be at the end of the episode Amelie: you Lynn: ⁓ maybe it has yeah. Amelie: I see some flowers on that deck. Is that intentional? Luigi: No. Ooh, hello. reveal it at the end. I even know if they are flowers. ⁓ I even know it's the Aquarian. So it's the back of the Aquarian. Lynn: No. Amelie: Hahaha! Well, thank you. Luigi: geometry in it, I think. Lynn: Hmm. ⁓ goes to the Aquarius of the group. ⁓ awesome. ⁓ that was a good reaction for a card. So I'm looking forward to that reveal at the end of the episode. drop your guesses below, although you can just cheat and skip ahead, I guess. We cannot. Maybe just our a little comment somewhere on note and see whether we guess right. Luigi: Ha ha. Amelie: Thank you. Lynn: Anyway, yes, it's a midsummer coming up. often held around the twenty-first or the twenty-third of June. and is one of the big solstices. ⁓ for summer solstice that means for us in the northern hemisphere anywhere where it does make a difference, it's the ⁓ longest day ⁓ the shortest And here in Norway, depending on where you are, of course, but the midsummer night often is a night where we do not have any night at all. It is just bright all day. sometimes at midnight the sun just you know slowly dips down and you know comes back up. And after that we get a longer cycle again with the night. ⁓ But night, AKA maybe no night at all on Midsummer's Eve, celebrated with a wild abandon throughout the day. Yeah, well let's ⁓ we already started diving into it. Let's dive into it. do have to ⁓ you y because you're going more into Lita, Luigi and the ⁓ the the pagan Celtic celebration. Yeah, if you would like to ⁓ roll off. Luigi: Yeah. So obviously summer solstice ⁓ is the standard. ⁓ midsummer as well as what it's also can be referred to. Letha belongs more to the weekend new pagan tradition, ⁓ which I don't mind. I when I say I don't mind it means pagan ⁓ new pagan ⁓ is a beautiful movement ⁓ weekend beautiful movement in itself. but pa one thing that I will say about us pagans, we like to argue a lot, you know, we like to Adriana: Hmm. Luigi: No, it's not that. No, you're wrong. It's that instead. That's not the history. Anyway. but I like I like ⁓ of the neo pagan movement of the weekend tradition. I do like these unique titles, you know. maybe because I'm a bit of a geek ⁓ in my heart. So yeah. I think the term Letha refers to simply the season of ⁓ June, you know, like the month of June. I need to look at the etymology a bit better. Lynn: Mm-hmm. Luigi: But whenever I hear the term Letha, maybe it's the sound of the word, maybe it's the letter L which is the same letter of my name. it's roughly it mean that necessarily etymologically speaking, ⁓ but I hear the term Letha, ⁓ I I hear in my heart a reson a resonance of the word light. even though the etymology is not probably that one, like we said, it's mostly likely connected to the month of June. ⁓ but again, light. ⁓ this is now the period of the zenith, ⁓ you know. the of the of the light of the sun, of the sun as a star, of the sun as a cosmic body, and of the sun as a deity, in whatever form you wanna celebrate it celebrate them. we also have a tradition ⁓ that I don't think we mentioned because we started to do these pagan ⁓ episodes with emo so didn't get the chance to mention yet ⁓ there a very famous ⁓ legend myth fairy tale tradition which is the one of the old and the Holy King. Wa e one and the other, the Oak King represents the season of life, aka and summer. The Holy King represent the seas representing the season of death, autumn and winter. Yes. Pantheray Odon which roughly Greek for everything flows and nothing ever ends. And I mentioned that quote because though now the sun as is at its zenith, at the most powerful that it can be, that also represents the beginning of the decline. Adriana: Thank you. Luigi: and that happens also at the Winter Solstice, but we'll get to it in more detail when we get to the Winter Solstice. So the legend is that at the solstices, each king they f fight each other or they debate with each other. But anyway, there is a conflict or a contrast. And even though is most powerful season for the Oak King, it is also, as the legend foretells. It is also the moment when he's going to lose. He, she, they they are going to lose to the Holy King and surrender their crown to the Holy King. Because after, like you mentioned, the longest day of the year and the shortest night of the year, after this day or that day, because we're not there yet as at the time of the recording, the nights will start to grow longer and the days will start to grow shorter. And I'm already crying and getting very sad about it because I waited for so long, two days to be long. Lynn: Ha ha ha. Luigi: There is already so much darkness ⁓ in ⁓ in the UK, but that's another story altogether. So yeah. I think ⁓ Letha midsummer summer solstice is definitely a huge period of celebration. ⁓ because obviously you have capacity to celebrate in terms of daylight saving and whatnot. ⁓ like you can have a party all all day up until almost 10 PM and be out and about. We light a lot of fires. Lynn: Mm-hmm. Hmm. Hmm. Luigi: We in celebration terms ⁓ there are obviously a lot of ⁓ gratitude rituals ⁓ around ⁓ the wealth of the season. You know, some are like ⁓ in a in a world where once upon a time we rely l we relied a lot on our crops, this is the time to celebrate that. This is the the time to enjoy that. so yeah. That's a little snippet list what I can share about Letha and the sources ⁓ as a celebration. Adriana: Yeah. Lynn: Yeah, it's just a really powerful time, isn't it? I mean it's like ⁓ I mean bah I mean it was good I think was starting in Immolk or like in a time where like things just started to slightly like get more energy and get stronger and stronger and stronger. And right now we're in the time of the year where the energies are at its fullest, at its strongest. And ⁓ spoiler alert, I can feel it, like in my life, we've just discussed it earlier, like just this week was the craziest and most energetic and most adrenaline and most most most of everything that I've had in a long time. So I personally am quite okay with it nearing the apex and going back down after. I feel like this is a good cycle. I'm really feeling like this this wow of energy that is going around like now this year very very strongly. And I mean I'm looking forward to the midsummer and to to celebrating it and kind of wrapping it up and ⁓ and and taking those well the the say the fruits of the season or like all the things that I want to be carrying with me into these i the seasons that are coming where you're you know starting to you're starting to harvest, you're starting to, you know, gather again ⁓ for and preparing for the time where you have less energy. ⁓ but right now it's still all like you know just celebration and and feeling that energy and being in that energy. ⁓ And is that's really great. Well I'm also like seeing when I look at the I mean for us here in Norway, like the the w the the nights are so short and there's barely any dark ⁓ there's no darkness right now. It just gets a little bit darker. I mean I I was mentioning I was out until three AM and there was no darkness at any point really. It's just like I went to bed where the sun always coming up, you know, so I'm like sort of planetary hours right now in the night hours are just twenty minutes. Every planetary hour in Norway right now is just Adriana: crazy Lynn: the twenty minute hour of one planet. So it gives like do it's really intense. So ⁓ yeah. Luigi: Can't immagine hai invitato. Amelie: Even, I think even the evenings, even the evenings here in the UK, now I'm a little bit more north, but it's not that much more north. Even like the evenings feel really bright. Cause normally, I don't know, when you sit and suddenly you look at the time and it's like nine o'clock, but you look outside and it feels like five o'clock. Luigi: Mm-hmm. Amelie: So even just the little difference makes you a little bit, you know, but yeah, Sweden has something similar to Norway, but a little bit higher up. So when you're like in the middle of Sweden, it's not too bad. But if you go slightly more north, Lynn: Yeah. Mm, mm. Yeah. Amelie: mean, you go to Lapland, got Kiruna there, for example, they literally have three days of daylight, ⁓ months of daylight, and then during the winter they have the three months of ⁓ I mean, is the same up north, because obviously it's the same. And that is just crazy. I used to live with a girl from there Lynn: Yeah. Yeah, up north, yeah. Hmm. Amelie: said that, you know, ⁓ she was teenager, it was great because they could party. didn't just did not matter. They were just partying day in and day out. And you did not know if it was night or day. They just did whatever. But she said it's really difficult during ⁓ winter then. ⁓ You get tired all the time. ⁓ It's ⁓ Lynn: ⁓ yeah. Yeah. ⁓ I mean also for me as a teenager, you know, I was an i introvert and a and a nerd and all that. But for me also it was great, like the white knights as you call them in the rush hour, like the midsummer. it meant for me that I could read with a book. ⁓ re I could read a book without needing to switch the lights on. Until midnight. that like, you know, that is the the other version of when you're not a party person teenage years. ⁓ Adriana: You Amelie: It does give you the extra energy I find even waking up much earlier. feel like I sometimes I just wake up much earlier specifically now during this time and you can go to bed much later and you don't feel tired. Lynn: Don't don't say that. Please don't say that because I have I have had notorious little sleep for the last three weeks and it's kind of been my mindset that it's okay. Just, you know, I I can go to sleep really late. I can wake up really early. I'm gonna be fine, but I think my body knows it's being tricked after a few weeks of that. So do not instigate. no, no, no, I get no. I I feel that. Amelie: It's on. after a while, Well... Adriana: I that ⁓ regarding period that obviously, ⁓ as all know, I come from the Southern sphere, tropical countries that we don't have these, know, because for us it's exactly the same. It's 12 hours of darkness, 12 hours of light, 365 days. So, but very when you arrive to Europe, and they realize that everyone is obsessed with the weather and with the sun and the light and think that you never think about it. But I think that Lita, as was explaining, have as well a profound meaning as well, because it is for the moment of maximum light, the apex of the maximums, the darkness begins to rise and to return. So ⁓ think as well. It has like a spiritual connotation, a reminder that peak has a beginning of something new, of a change or the contrast. And we were saying, it's a period of celebration with gratitude, think humility as well, because we realize the life moves in cycles. It's not a straight line. It's a beginning and end. ⁓ goes in nature and is a fluidity. So let's see what we can really this grow, the transformation and wisdom. What is the wisdom that we can bring through ⁓ beautiful celebrations? I that here in UK quite important the 2021st of June salties and they ⁓ special celebration. have already seen this like everywhere, the bonfires and the flower festivals and the parties and rituals and so on, like welcoming the sun and welcoming nature and the the abundance and celebration of life in general. And I think that is a beautiful reminder, you know, that is, I think it's important, particularly when we try to think and to make it ours is what is my beginning? in these next 10 days is going to ⁓ a peak and what is the thing that we have not seen or something like that it was in the darkness start to phrase in. But as we have already a peak of light, we can see it in a different light. So I think that is a beautiful metaphor, beautiful teaching we can all you know, take up in touch. Amelie: I believe also, is it during the midsummer that it's the only time when they open the Stonehenge? For people... Luigi: Yeah. Adriana: No, I don't know. Luigi: Not the only, but but it's one of them. So like usually they do allow access ⁓ during the equinoxes and the store the solstices. that the you're allowed to even touch them, you know, and be in in the vicinity of it. ⁓ and I was fortunate enough to have attended ⁓ three consecutive years. I haven't gone last year. ⁓ and the ⁓ summer solstice is obviously Lynn: Mm. Luigi: I s when I say easier is only because I get cold very easily. So I never attempted to do the winter solstice. No no no no no. I never attempted to do the spring equinox or the autumn equinox. I've only gone to the summer solstice and it's still incredibly cold during the night. Incredibly cold. Especially between 3 a.m. and four thirty, like that darkness hour. ⁓ but when you when you see the sun rising from Stonehenge, it it's a beauty. Adriana: Mmm. Luigi: ⁓ it's breathtaking. Lynn: ⁓ I bet. I'd love to see that or experience that at some point. yeah. But it's it's really like I mean the solstice, the summer solstice is like this big to celebrate the light and to give thanks to the sun and the warmth and that all and being ⁓ becoming aware of that. You are at the turning point again, that you are at the max point and of ⁓ came before what will come after. But just this this one day, this one celebration, you're just going like over here. We're just going all in and thanking the sun and thanking the light. and with sun, if you're saying we're thanking or we're grateful for the sun that you know, carries so much. It's like it's the entire ⁓ farming cycles and everything, life ⁓ yeah, we're aware of this, right? But I mean ⁓ because of the sun we have life here on on this planet. ⁓ ⁓ it's the sun that helps our our plants grow. But also of course in in moderation. If you get too much sun, it all just burns to crisps, right? ⁓ Adriana: Mm. Lynn: we in The climate change aside, we have r we have a good climate here in Norway the northern hemisphere. ⁓ and ⁓ typically if you have a good a good balance of rain and then the sun and rain and the sun, ⁓ your crops will grow and with a fertile ground. Yeah, your crops will grow and you will have a good harvest and you will have good food and you will have enough food and that is thanks to the sun making it grow, photosynthesis and all that. ⁓ Adriana: Yeah. Is there a special celebration that you do for a particle? Because here they have the Stonehenge, that is the most famous place where you see the people going. But I was researching a little bit because obviously I'm not familiar to this. I didn't grow up with this. But they were saying it's generally bonfires and oak trees, you know, like... Lynn: so yeah. I Hm. Hm. Yeah. Is it hmm? Adriana: but is this any connotation like magical connotation or ritual that you do in like with magic? Lynn: Yeah. Yeah. Well I mean the the Pyres, bonfires are a big thing, I think. Like we are really big on poles still, like we have the poles in in the May celebration. We also like our poles to the midsummer celebration and it's a great thing to dance around. although as far as I know, because in the May celebration, the implications of the symbolism of the pole is like a very ⁓ male, phallic symbol then you have like the wreath, yeah, and then you have the wreath that is female. But it's not, yeah. Adriana: Yeah, follow, yeah. Amelie: It's interesting I think because in Sweden it's not like that at all. That's why it gets like... Lynn: Yeah. Yeah, it's strange. Yeah, but but is even for like the midsummer the the pole is supposed to be like a female figure and you give ⁓ and you give your s you your ⁓ gratitude ⁓ to to the pole and there's traditions of like ⁓ building the pyres, for example, the fire, building them out of nine different trees. and nine is a very magical number for for a lot of traditions, but also for like the pagan traditions, like in the heathen ⁓ Norse tradition where we have this belief of there being nine worlds, for example, or also like three times three, you know. So there's a lot of like nine symbolism. ⁓ So one the celebrations that ⁓ we mentioned earlier ⁓ in an earlier episode ⁓ Adriana: Okay. Lynn: with the big Uppsala the word? ⁓ Sacrifice like sacrifices, yes. Whereas also nine kinds of animals were sacrificed. i and here now we're having nine types of trees that are being used for the pyres. so again we have this number that that comes up or used to come up. I don't think people do that anymore, but like traditionally ⁓ it was supposed be nine trees, people in the the pyres of nine trees. ⁓ And ⁓ it's big tradition also of making effigies of Adriana: Okay. Lynn: Well, people like this pyre burning that you're thinking you're also having in the UK. and ⁓ far as I know, the history of that is a little bit or historians are a little bit, you know, split. They we know, we think that it used to be human sacrifices back in the time, but there's not actually like a lot of evidence. Not a lot of evidence to support it. Maybe a little bit, you ⁓ yeah. Adriana: No. Amelie: Christians always come up with things like that though. Lynn: Yeah, yeah, they do. I'm pretty sure I mean human sacrifices have been a thing for a long, long time. So it's not, you know, but it's not like ⁓ clear that it used to be a thing. It could just also have been like a thing like an effigy where you put magically you put your intentions or ⁓ things that you want to get rid of, for example, into a the wood that you make the pyre off, and then ⁓ burning that. So you're kind of burning away the bad things that you don't wanna keep or the things you don't keep, pretty much. ⁓ as a community. Adriana: happened the same in the summertime and in So I have a question. Is the same celebrations for the solstice of winter than the solstice summer or changed? you were saying about the effigies and the fires and the... you know, all the rituals of the woods and the celebration of gratitude and life. So, but is there any difference between the celebration between the two solstices? Lynn: Do you wanna reply first, Luigi, or or do you want me? Luigi: Yeah, like I guess I guess from ⁓ from where I stand, and I think we may have touched based on it ⁓ the very beginning of the episode, in both solstices, ⁓ you celebrate a particular energy, I suppose, but you also acknowledge the reflecting energy. ⁓ ⁓ I guess in the winter solstice, for example, which again we'll touch base more when we get to it, but if you are celebrating Good health, protection, well-being, because it's it's a season of death, you wanna remain safe, you wanna ⁓ restore your energies, you wanna ⁓ take advantage of this period of restoration because you're not supposed to do much during the season. so that's kind of the energy, like stillness and the value of stillness, the value of silence, ⁓ the acknowledgement that from now, from the source the winter solstice, life is gaining momentum, life is coming back. ⁓ Equally, the summer solstice ⁓ Adriana: Okay. Mm. Luigi: Totally opposite. Like you're you're supposed to not supposed to you're free to do anybody's free to do whatever their hearts desires. But the principle is as you have ⁓ warmth, as you have ⁓ broader daylight and so forth, use this day to truly go at it, ⁓ like celebrate in the ways that you wanna celebrate, but truly on the ⁓ of the bone, you know, of life. ⁓ I think it's a quote from that poet society. But Because now it is the moment ⁓ to celebrate life equally the realization that now from now on we need to start preparing ⁓ for what what's to what's to come next. ⁓ The lack of better words ⁓ Mañana- but lack of better words, the decline. not the decline, but the decline of the light and the rise of the darkness. which obviously is not gonna happen be within the next couple of days or whatnot. But again. Adriana: Hahaha! Lynn: But manyana manyana. Luigi: It's that sentence from before, the Greek sentence like ⁓ everything flows, nothing ever ends. Lynn: Yeah. So in that sense it's it's ⁓ polar polar opposites of ⁓ of the energies that you're having. Like if you're thinking yin and yang, you know, like now you're like in the full pff masculine, you know, like force of bam bam bam. Adriana: Yeah. Lynn: And you're celebrating that and you're using that energy also in the rituals. ⁓ there there are a few rituals connected with actually collecting. there's one tradition that I don't think is celebrated anymore. There was a tradition of women going out into the fields, naked of course, ⁓ at ⁓ and also men everybody was naked, but anyway. ⁓ So go out in the fields with like ⁓ pieces of cloth, I suppose, and dragging them behind you ⁓ so the dew Adriana: Yeah. Okay. Lynn: the water got collected on that and then they will wring it out ⁓ then they will ⁓ that water to I think make bread ⁓ is then supposed to be especially life giving. So and that is done in that summer solstice ritual in a ritual perspective ⁓ a lot what is done there is is has this very life giving, life supporting energy ⁓ that then be used in the ⁓ weeks and months come to give give more life to your activities and to most like the n like nourishing when you're making food for example it would be ⁓ pulled into that while on the opposite side like in in this the winter solstice it's more about celebrating or being like in the stillness it's very much both quiet like the silence but also the stillness of like not moving ⁓ refle it's more about reflecting inwards rather than going outwards like it is now so in that sense it's kind of these very opposites. ⁓ two extremes, right? Two extremes. ⁓ in in a different way, but mm. So mm Adriana: Yeah. And how do you personally treat those are practicing these pagan festivities? How do you celebrate? Luigi: So the last few years it's been about joining the the bandwagon of attending Stonehenge. And but there's not just Stonehenge, there's so many stone circles across the UK. So usually because the thing is in ⁓ neo paganism I suppose the solstice was also liminal space, both the winter and the summer. So again ⁓ it's that conversation ⁓ but i a conversation that is as truthful to the Beltane And or the Sawen season versus the solstice season, where the realm beyond the veil, the other world, the fei realm, ⁓ is more accessible, at least for them to come over here. so the idea is that around the stone circles, the entrance ⁓ to the other world ⁓ will become will materialize, you know. ⁓ And the will come and visit us with their blessings, hopefully, but if you ⁓ Adriana: Hahaha Luigi: If you misbehaved or whatnot, even with their tricks. there's different views in regards to the will and the behavior, so to speaking, of the Fey. ⁓ I to believe because I'm an eternal romantic and Piscean ⁓ and of Venus, ⁓ I to believe that they are the most incredible creature in the world. Like any other aspect of life, ⁓ there is also a shadow aspect, but you know, I won't shy away from a meeting with them ⁓ if goddess decides to bless me. with it. so yeah, stone circles, limino spaces, ⁓ welcoming the the abundance and the prosperity and the blessings and the generosity and the gain. at same time working with the archetype of the sun I suppose in all ways possible. Like whether it's decorating your home with sunflowers, ⁓ drawing the sun, ⁓ whether it you draw it astrologically or a glyph or whatnot, ⁓ putting yellow ⁓ Florals but florals is also ⁓ as relevant for Baltane. Everything that re describes the blossoming and the sprouting and the what's the word? Ejaculation life, ⁓ if will. Adriana: wonderful. And Amelie, you celebrate the solstice? Lynn: Pretty much. Amelie: Yeah, well, I grew up in Sweden and in Sweden, Midsummer is of the most important celebrations that you do. I believe it's equally as important as Christmas. So take it quite seriously, not that it is a serious ⁓ thing you know, serious way they celebrate. But it's a big thing there. And yeah, normally, ⁓ this is it's so funny when Adriana: Mm-hmm. Amelie: we say so ⁓ Maypole this is what it's called here but in Sweden they have midsommar stång which is a midsummer pole basically it's out of one pole with two round circles of whatever green you have. it basically looks like a penis with two balls. That's what it is. And they do, it's very similar to the, to the maple and they put on the ground and they put it up. So it's basically like the penis is giving life to earth this is why everything has been sprouting and it's like celebration for like everyone. For kids love it because they dance around the pool. Parents, grandma, everyone is there and it's obviously summer so it's nice warm ⁓ and Also, during the day they eat until the very, very, very late night. So it starts with like, they always have very fresh food. So like everything is like new potatoes and there's a lot of seafood, like sill a lot of like salads and vegetables and just very ⁓ fresh food. Adriana: Mm-hmm. Amelie: That's what they do. They like celebrate the whole day, eat. obviously there's quite a lot of drinking involved as well. ⁓ mean, they have beer that they specifically kind of like drinking during midsummer. You have snaps, you have like the vodka. shooters that you do. ⁓ just get ⁓ and merry basically. And ⁓ old thing, an old thing, an old thing that they do as well that you can do if you are able to do so. This old tradition of like women used to ⁓ around in fields and you pick several types of different flowers. Adriana: Okay, that sounds fantastic. Thank Mm-hmm. Amelie: And once you have seven types of different flowers, you have to jump over seven fences. after you put the flowers underneath your pillow. And then on the next day, you'll basically dream of your future husband on that night. Yeah. So that's like... Adriana: ⁓ wow. ⁓ wow. That's how that is. Lynn: Wow. ⁓ Amelie: little thing that they do. Obviously if you live in the city it's not really you know you can still jump over fences and you can still get flowers I'm sure you know ⁓ be careful if it's your ⁓ fence you know. ⁓ Lynn: Mm, ⁓ ⁓ that it's more about number seven there. ⁓ Adriana: Yes, it's interesting because for... Amelie: I was, I started to, I started to like doubt. was like, was it Vine? Like, no, I'm very sure it's seven. I'm very sure it's seven, but then I'm not sure if they've changed ⁓ or if it's, but it's seven as far as I remember it's seven. Yeah. Lynn: Mm. Luigi: It's a Lynn: mean seven has a lot of significance as well. We know this as well with the seven planets and seven days. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's more it's more combines better with like a cr Christian interf like, you know, influences ⁓ than nine pagan worlds, you know, that wouldn't ⁓ so well when you have like Christianity over then nine wouldn't make so much sense because it's very it's very witchy ⁓ in different way. yeah, I think mm Adriana: Mm. Luigi: Yeah, each number has its own magic, ⁓ Amelie: Hmm. Adriana: No. Amelie: Yeah. Luigi: While while we mention numbers, I think it's also interesting that so if in the new pagan Will of the Year w that incorporates you know the ⁓ sabps ⁓ that in introduce the seasons as well as the equinoxes ⁓ and the ⁓ solstices, it's interesting because in the tradition usually the the new year starts as soon as we probably have mentioned previously, and if we haven't we're probably gonna mention mention it again. Lynn: Mm. Luigi: It's always gonna come back. So if that's the first Sabbath, that we are Aletha, that it's now the sixth ⁓ And even in the Gregorian calendar, technically, this is now the sixth month. And 'cause we talked about the number nine, we talked about the number seven, and now I'm bringing the number six because of its solar ⁓ which I found it ⁓ cute. Go on. Adriana: Yes. But talking about numbers again, talking about numbers, we did the decant last week, the decant for the solstice is the two of cups. So I found that fascinating because it's obviously is in cancer, it's a zero to 10 degrees cancer. So the first decant of cancer. Luigi: Yes. Adriana: But equally the major sarcanas in Taro is the cartasone the strength car. And ⁓ is car this period is the tree of wants that is expansion. So we have two of cop that is connection, fertility, abundance, the sacred relationship of male and female, the heart opening. the emotional fulfillment and the love that the two of cups. And then we have equally the very powerful sun and the strength card, plus the vision and the fire of the three of wands that it will make you ⁓ expansion, like look through the horizon, expand and grow and reach fire levels. So I found that everything that you have been talking, corresponds very much to these cards, you know, the of the Two of Cups, the Cancerian, Sun, the Strength, and the Three of Wounds. ⁓ Particularly what like the most is the contrast, and I think it's where we're talking about the peak. Because before Leta, you know, till the 20th of June, ⁓ it is the of Swords. And we're talking last week from ⁓ the nine of swords, that is completion of the mental cycle is the surrender is getting clarity through ends and preparing for a new phase. That's the two of cups. That is the opposite. So I found that very fascinating and beautiful is everything that you have said. Lynn: Yeah, when you look at mm. Yeah, when you look at the when you actually look at the astrological wheel, then it's like the we have the the solstice and the equinoxes are actually the axis points in the middle of the wheel. So technically you have the summer solstice, you the summer solstice is on ⁓ the bottom if you're starting with Aries on the left, right? so the sumers solstice is the south axis. So you are it's it's exactly where you go from ⁓ that of Gemini or the lovers you're thinking like tarot, you're going from Gemini ⁓ into ti the the time. Adriana: Okay. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Lynn: or the the time of cancer. it that then ⁓ again the ⁓ in the winter solstice it's ⁓ where you have from go from Sagittarius to Capricorn and then you have ⁓ the equinoxes where you go like from from the Pisces to Aries and ⁓ from ⁓ again Virgo to Libra ⁓ and ⁓ like all of these equinoxes or solstices is always set ⁓ at the cardinal signs. So it's always the the cardinal signs basically ⁓ in this ⁓ time. So now we having the the cardinal water for for midsummer, the midsummer solstice cardinal water cancer ⁓ is beginning basically but it's it's exactly at the point between ⁓ Adriana: Yes. Yes, the transition. Lynn: one and the other, that is where you have the the axes. Yeah, that's where you have the axis. so yeah, we're going into the ⁓ if you were thinking Deccans and the the two of c ⁓ the two of cups ⁓ starts it off but it's the cancer period now. likewise it's the ace of wands that is the next quarter of the year is ruled by the ace of wands or the the princess of ones. So we're having that ⁓ yes, it's it's the fire quarter, basically. So ⁓ yeah, from astrological standpoint or yeah. Adriana: Yes. Yes. Yes. Lynn: You you have that. Luigi: Which in a way, the vision of Cardinal Walter that begins this season with the the ⁓ what's the word that I'm looking for? The ⁓ rulership or realist influence of the fire, bet that being the Princess of Wands, the Ace of Wands. That's a beautiful image of the two of Cups in a way. ⁓ ⁓ I was thinking about Amelie's story as well, like with the poll, the specifically as a phallic ⁓ Adriana: Yes, yes. Mm-hmm. Luigi: connotation behind it into the earth, that phallic into the womb, that's also a beautiful representation of the two of cups, ⁓ of that union. Adriana: Yes, yes, yes, because as I say, the emotional fulfillment and the love and the purity of the relationship between male and female is in it, like the expansion of masculine and feminine in a perfect balance. So yes, it's very beautiful to see that astrological is what is human has been representing with their their festivities. And I think it's quite important, not only of it. I think having fun and celebrate is important, but as well to see how we can. Transfer that into our own lives and guide us and to help us, you know, were saying, everything is fluidity, so it be nice to see if we can be conscious of or do at least one little thing that will bring these. ⁓ meaning of this festivity or this hostess into our lives. So let's see what we can do like to celebrate the abundance and the fertility. Yeah. Luigi: Make sure you light your candles. Light all of the candles. Lynn: Go crazy. Drink all my gee Luigi loves the candles. Amelie: I do believe, I do believe, I'm not sure, I haven't actually looked it up, but I think the Slavic equivalent is Kopawa, Kopawa, something like that. And it's basically like fornication night. But I'm not 100 % sure if it's midsummer, but I know that I have a feeling it is, but just Lynn: Yeah, that makes Adriana: Yes. Well, copulare, yeah, copulare in Spanish or Latin is a coupling, know, yes, yes, yes. Luigi: It wouldn't surprise me. Lynn: Why not? Hm. Yes, copulate, yeah. Yeah. Copulare. Right. Well, that was that was the day of the s ⁓ the the the word to the of the Sunday, I guess. ⁓ last words or contributions ⁓ about the solstice before we go into our ⁓ exciting card. No. Good. Okay, yeah. Luigi: I think ⁓ just just one indulgment ⁓ if you will. ⁓ when we were reflecting on the what's on the opposite side, ⁓ guess because we mentioned we probably will cover it bet not better, in more detail when we have our tarot episode for these particular cards. But ⁓ interesting now to observe ⁓ the reflection within the two of cups versus the two of discs or pentacles. So the reflection between ⁓ love and change, the lady of love, the lady of change. Lynn: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Luigi: And obviously, like I said, being a Venusian kind of a being myself, will produce love. Love is the engine of change and so forth. and I bring that as the conclusion of the episode because I do believe ⁓ in the for lack of better words, in the power of love as the sacred law. and I I guess every Thelemite will agree as well. So yeah. Adriana: Yes. Yes. Yes. Let's see the card! The card! Lynn: ⁓ yeah. Love is the law. Okay. Well, that breezes. Let's let's go into the car. Luigi: What do you fe what do you think it is? Adriana: The two of pops. Lynn: I mean you had such a big reaction. No should be the two of cups, but but that it probably wasn't no. No no no. ⁓ is it lust? Or like yeah, is it the the the the strength card? No, okay well then. Luigi: I wish I wish. It's a major. It's a major. Amelie: I was about to say, I think it's a major. Adriana: the strength. Luigi: You will not expect it though. Adriana: friends. Amelie: The devil. Lynn: No. Adriana: Okay, so let's the devil talk in this moment. Obviously, it's a moment of transformation, isn't it? Come on, Luigi. Amelie: You Lynn: Okay. Show show us ⁓ which deck you're using and can you describe the image on on it? Because it's different from the traditional ⁓ it's the Aquarian Mm-hmm. Luigi: So yeah, I'm using the Aquarian tarot, which is ⁓ this is a beautiful 1970 version that a friend of a friend has gifted me. very grateful. so it's a it's a bit different from the Smith, but it still incorporates the same elements. So you got the flames at the bottom. Obviously, you know they I refer to the devil as the pen. interestingly, I ⁓ I mean you can interpret it as you want. ⁓ That Lynn: Wow. Luigi: Can look like the sun, but because of the tincture of silver and blue, I feel like it's the full moon. and then you have the pan its itself or the devil themselves with the inverted pentacle pentacle, pentagram. and then what we could call demons or shadows, or at least ⁓ the man and the woman, quote unquote. facing on opposite direction from one another, chained to the Lynn: Hm. Adriana: Yeah. Luigi: to the ⁓ rulership of the pen, to the ruler rulership of the devil, and then a phallic symbol on the right side, which is also as we know it, ⁓ the wand of knowledge. I ⁓ the thing that came out there you go like with a bit of tooth. ⁓ so yeah the first thing that came out when I saw it there were two things that popped into mind. One the the the the reader Amelie: Speaking about the phallic symbol. Lynn: Mm, mhm, mhm. Adriana: Mm-hmm. Luigi: is a Capricorn himself, like the card, obviously. So I don't know if that had that something to do with it. But obviously we mentioned this number six being kind of relevant in the discussion of the solstice with its solar potency. And the number 15 reduces to six. because the pan has appeared again when the when it comes into ⁓ reading, not always, it depends on the circumstances. ⁓ there is a discussion about freedom and maybe even freedom of choice. ⁓ Lynn: Mm. Adriana: you Luigi: ⁓ especially in the conversation of love, like it came up quite a lot in the reading. So it as with a grain of salt, but it's almost asking us to reflect on ⁓ either relationships or the dynamics or the so-called chains and chains as in dynamics again. Like we have a word in Italian, legami. Legami means having a relationship or a dynamic with someone. But the word ⁓ corresponds to the word rope, you know, because a connection with someone is a rope, is a chain, but not a emp it doesn't have to be an imprisoning chain, it's just ⁓ a connection. so I think with the pan coming up into this reading it could be asking us to reflect ⁓ on relevance what value does freedom have in each of our dynamics. The freedom of being ourselves, the freedom of loving each other in ⁓ inequivocally. Adriana: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Luigi: regardless of our similarities or differences. but also the reflection of you know when we talked about yes it's a season of life an expression, but let us be reminded ⁓ what's to come, ⁓ the labor to come, of the preparation to come, which is the rulership of darkness, ⁓ the season of the opposite sources ahead of us. but what do you guys see here? Lynn: Mm. Well I I found really ⁓ interesting when you're talking about ⁓ legami, with ⁓ 'cause in in or say Southeast Asian traditions there's also this idea of like the ⁓ like the a thread that ⁓ connects two people who are fated, like with like the red thread. Luigi: Yeah. Adriana: Yes. So. Lynn: Yeah. so I was just I was just ⁓ reminded of that immediately. And you can ⁓ both ways. You can say that this is a beautiful thing if you're having somebody who's like f you know, if there's actually like a red threat binding you to somebody, ⁓ it's also that thing that it is ⁓ it's unbreakable or if it breaks, but even if it's unbreakable that you're also chained to that. Adriana: Okay. Lynn: someone in a way. ⁓ thinking, like I mean the first thing that usually comes to mind ⁓ for me with the devil card ⁓ no not always but sometimes the the wild abundance and ⁓ going into abandon ⁓ abandon yeah the that that thing that that that word indulgence whole thing that we like ⁓ as Amelie up with like just drinking all day and all night and eating all day all night it's very devil. It's like really like not having any Adriana: Yes. Boundaries or divisions, yeah. Lynn: You know, fil not filter is not the right word. Yeah, inhibitions, thank you. Like no inhibitions and just going yeah, just like completely like going wild and and full abandon and that's that's very much yes, that's very much ⁓ devil and very much the somersaults, this energy in that sense, absolutely. yeah. Amelie: inhibitions. Adriana: Yes. Yes. Luigi: It is inhibited. Lynn: I I I would see that. But then also you could go into this whole imagery of, you know, the the chained man and woman and then you could play around with that into the the human sacrifices that might or might not have been made combination with the pyres. So, ⁓ know, there's a lot there's lot you could ⁓ you could play with here. also like you said, that Capricornian energy that now we're starting to okay, we we're gonna go ⁓ Adriana: Mm. Hmm. Lynn: We have the wild abandoned now and then soon we will go into this more Capricorn y and like okay now we have to plan and and and to to get our harvest and our ⁓ life prepare. Mm. Yeah. Luigi: Repair. Yeah. Amelia Adriana, what about you guys? Adriana: Change for me is a radical change, isn't it? It's the cycle, it's the renewal, it's the beginning of something that you can interpret it and feel it and sense it. But equally is the background is always this like warning that be careful to get attached to this, know, is like, yes, is a change is something that is starting a fresh new ⁓ excitement, the pleasure so on. as is a reminder as well to say. Don't overdo it. Be careful because attachments, the ligas, the ligamentos, it will constrict you by the end. Amelie: ⁓ no, I feel like it's... It's a very card as well. And just reminds me of the abundance were talking about all the material things that we are getting through this season as well. Because, I mean, all crops and flowers, everything that grows, it's something that is material. I mean, money is the only thing that that's material like people seem to think like, ⁓ but this abundance of having everything almost in excess because everything is just like popping up during that time and I feel like the devil card is very fitting. within that sense as well, that you are almost allowed to indulge yourself because if you don't indulge yourself when things are just blooming and there's, you know, plenty of food and all of that, then it will spoil as well. So you might as well just ahead and ⁓ it. And almost feels like it's okay to be a little bit spoiled. within the material as it say to eat a little bit too much and to have fun and indulge yourself because it's really the time where you can do that. Now or never. Yeah, it feels a like now or never. Yes, yes, now or never. Lynn: Yeah. Now now never, basically. Now it's the that now is the time of abundance, really. Yeah, where there is too much. before it goes into the spoiled now you basically just go and ⁓ ⁓ mm. ⁓ Adriana: Yeah. Amelie: Exactly, exactly. Yeah. Luigi: Interesting as well, because of our discussions in this particular card, you know where it this part here, which could be either the legs, but we also know they usually the pan it in themselves they're usually depicted above the block, the block of Saturn, the block of matter, so this could be the block of matter, but it's almost as if it's ⁓ splitting, you know, and in a way it's depicting almost a broken heart. Lynn: Mm. Adriana: Thank you. Thank you. Luigi: Almost. ⁓ but so there's so many ways that you can on that. You know, whether it's the split of matter, the split of the love, ⁓ the unequivalent ⁓ love for matter, matter itself. ⁓ there's a lot of juicy that you can have on this particular image alone, but maybe we can explore that more in detail when we cover the Amelie: Mmm, yeah. Yeah. Luigi: the Pan card itself some point. So yeah. Lynn: Yeah, those are great card to get for for a solstice. That's a great discussion. Awesome. Yeah. ⁓ Wow. well, thanks aga again for the episode, guys. Thanks for ⁓ tuning in and listening or watching. as always, well we upload our episodes ⁓ every Thursday of the week and bi-weekly ⁓ upload our split of AmeLynn's Corner of Chaos. please like.
