• 2:55
  Speaker 3: of the years.
• 2:55
  Speaker 6: Here.
• 2:56
Speaker 5: Time to look back, as many people do at this
• 2:58
Speaker 5: time of year, but we want to look ahead and
• 3:01
Speaker 5: we got breaking news I think to get to as well.
• 3:04
Speaker 5: I want to welcome to the show this morning, Metro News.
• 3:06
Speaker 5: Brad Michael Honey, Brad, Good morning, sir.
• 3:10
Speaker 7: Oh hi, good morning and hello to a.
• 3:16
  Speaker 3: Whaling.
• 3:17
Speaker 7: Yeah you're in studio guest.
• 3:19
Speaker 3: Yes, Whaling and Grady. The cat's Amelia.
• 3:21
Speaker 5: If you don't know, Brad, it's a tradition Steve and
• 3:23
Speaker 5: Brad always gives a big shout out to my cats.
• 3:26
Speaker 3: Whaling and Grady. Who are well. I wonder what they're doing. Oh,
• 3:29
  Speaker 3: they're sleeping.
• 3:30
Speaker 5: That's what they're doing right now, because they're house cats
• 3:32
Speaker 5: and that's what they do.
• 3:33
Speaker 3: But Brad, thank you for joining us.
• 3:34
Speaker 5: Amelia nicely from West Virginia watches here. Good morning, dear,
• 3:36
Speaker 5: How are you good morning? How are you doing your voice?
• 3:40
  Speaker 5: It's not good.
• 3:42
Speaker 8: It's not I promise this is not from yelling at
• 3:45
Speaker 8: my children. We've had a wonderful break. I'm just getting
• 3:48
Speaker 8: over a cold. But thanks for having that.
• 3:49
  Speaker 9: You're good right, I'm great.
• 3:51
Speaker 3: A love of that going around. Steven Allen Adams, how
• 3:52
Speaker 3: you do it man.
• 3:53
Speaker 10: I'm feeling great, man, I'm feeling squirrely.
• 3:55
Speaker 9: I'm ready to go.
• 3:56
Speaker 5: We could only hope many people would that Stephen and
• 3:58
Speaker 5: Dave would would lose their voice. Right, that's only the hope.
• 4:01
Speaker 10: Ah, people pray for it all the time. But I
• 4:04
Speaker 10: don't know if I ever have lost my voice.
• 4:06
Speaker 5: I frequently do, and it's usually like a sinus infection
• 4:09
Speaker 5: type thing. When it got me, I just lose my voice.
• 4:11
Speaker 5: I feel like you, Meil, Yeah, I feel fine, no
• 4:13
Speaker 5: fever or whatever. But I have to tag somebody in,
• 4:16
Speaker 5: you know, from time to time. All right, Brad, I
• 4:19
Speaker 5: came downstairs this morning and walked into.
• 4:21
  Speaker 3: The green room.
• 4:22
Speaker 5: Stephen and Amelia in there, and they hit me with
• 4:25
Speaker 5: this story, this breaking story. As we are closing twenty
• 4:29
Speaker 5: twenty five, have you heard the news of you? And
• 4:31
  Speaker 5: I said I I did not. So I'm going to
• 4:34
Speaker 5: give an opportunity for one of them, either one of you.
• 4:37
Speaker 5: This show has no format whatsoever this morning. Either one
• 4:39
Speaker 5: of you to jump in, and Brad, you can weigh
• 4:41
Speaker 5: in and I'll bring it up in the rear.
• 4:43
  Speaker 2: But what.
• 4:45
Speaker 3: Have you got? Not a funny joke in my current
• 4:51
  Speaker 3: medical condition?
• 4:52
  Speaker 11: All right?
• 4:53
Speaker 3: All right, all right, all right, Brad, go ahead, I
• 4:55
Speaker 3: mean Stephen go ahead.
• 4:56
  Speaker 9: Sure.
• 4:57
Speaker 10: So our Governor Patrick Morrisey tweeted this at twelve o
• 5:01
Speaker 10: one am early this morning. Quote I want This was
• 5:06
Speaker 10: in response to a Mountain State Spotlight tweet looking back
• 5:09
Speaker 10: at some of their stories from twenty twenty five, but quote,
• 5:13
Speaker 10: I want to see your stories about the squirrel extermination
• 5:17
Speaker 10: program where you wasted massive taxpayer resources trying to chase
• 5:21
Speaker 10: false rumors. Mountain State Spotlight, please address unquote. So this
• 5:28
Speaker 10: is addressing a I hate to even bring it up
• 5:32
Speaker 10: because we've all looked into this and it's nonsense. But
• 5:36
Speaker 10: like the governor sort opened himself up for this one.
• 5:39
Speaker 10: There had been rumors about employees at the state capital
• 5:44
Speaker 10: Complex disposing of an exterminating some of the squirrel population
• 5:49
Speaker 10: on Capitol grounds, the beloved squirrel population in the Capitol grounds.
• 5:52
Speaker 10: Speculate about some of the reasons. There's some funny stories
• 5:55
Speaker 10: out there. Ultimately turned out not to be true. But
• 6:00
Speaker 10: there are some reporters who I believe a file Freedom
• 6:03
Speaker 10: of Information after request trying to get some additional information
• 6:06
Speaker 10: about this. So far, it's been kind of relegated within
• 6:10
Speaker 10: the world of capital dwellers. But but now it's sort
• 6:15
Speaker 10: of out there now because the governor tweeted it out
• 6:18
  Speaker 10: and sell.
• 6:19
  Speaker 9: But yeah, it's a it's very squirrely.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: Okay, Well I had heard this.
• 6:24
Speaker 5: We've had text from time to time about you know,
• 6:27
Speaker 5: in any time we've had the governor on people, you know,
• 6:29
Speaker 5: and they text in a variety of things. And that's
• 6:32
Speaker 5: to be understand no matter who the governor is. And
• 6:35
Speaker 5: somebody had texted a couple of times, ask about the squirrels,
• 6:37
Speaker 5: Ask about the squirrel Brad, what do you know about
• 6:39
  Speaker 5: this story?
• 6:41
Speaker 7: If it's news, it's news to me. Uh So, the
• 6:46
Speaker 7: squirrels at the Capitol are in great supply and they
• 6:50
Speaker 7: probably could use a predator. You know, I'm a little
• 6:56
Speaker 7: curious about the squirrels. A but be whatever massive massive
• 7:01
Speaker 7: was the word tex tax payer dollars. I'd like that
• 7:04
Speaker 7: to be further defined, Amelia.
• 7:07
Speaker 12: I mean I heard these rumors as well.
• 7:09
Speaker 8: At one point someone told me there were buckets of
• 7:11
Speaker 8: deceased squirrels somewhere in the Capitol.
• 7:14
Speaker 12: But yeah, I agree with that.
• 7:16
Speaker 3: It wasn't the cafeteria. Although squirrels are delicious, is good.
• 7:20
Speaker 3: I've eaten squirrel Yeah, that's very good.
• 7:22
Speaker 12: I'm not even really a meat eater and squirrel gravy.
• 7:24
  Speaker 9: It's good.
• 7:25
Speaker 8: But yeah, I would like to know more about the
• 7:27
Speaker 8: massive resources because we deal with foyas all the time
• 7:31
Speaker 8: and yeah, it's typically not uh And let's just say
• 7:35
Speaker 8: in other branches of government responding to foyas doesn't seem
• 7:38
Speaker 8: to be a massive overhaul.
• 7:40
Speaker 10: All I'm saying is during Halloween there was this decoration
• 7:44
Speaker 10: on the back gay of the Governor's match, and that
• 7:46
Speaker 10: was just a bunch of little many skeletons were back
• 7:49
Speaker 10: back there and like on a string, and there was
• 7:52
  Speaker 10: some specator.
• 7:54
Speaker 3: No, we're not We're not implying that the governor would
• 7:56
  Speaker 3: do that.
• 7:56
Speaker 10: Now you have looked, I have looked into this. I've
• 7:59
Speaker 10: asked a few pe people. Look squirrels down with Capitol grounds.
• 8:02
Speaker 10: There are hawks that kill the squirrels, there's other reasons
• 8:06
Speaker 10: that squirrels can die on the grounds or whatnot. General
• 8:09
Speaker 10: services are the ones that usually have to go around
• 8:11
Speaker 10: pick them up and whatnot. I think everything has led
• 8:14
Speaker 10: me to where maybe somebody else may do that and
• 8:18
Speaker 10: spread a rumor that sort of thing. Are there too
• 8:20
Speaker 10: many squirrels on the Capitol grounds. I don't know, I
• 8:23
Speaker 10: mean maybe, but I mean.
• 8:26
Speaker 12: One did jump in my backpack once. That's a real story.
• 8:29
Speaker 10: Yeah, it dropped the dead squirrel in front of my
• 8:32
Speaker 10: wife Jessica one time I do on Capitol Grounds.
• 8:34
Speaker 3: It was a gift.
• 8:35
Speaker 9: Yeah, it was a gift.
• 8:36
Speaker 3: It was a gift.
• 8:37
Speaker 5: All right, So we'll we'll just file this under a
• 8:40
Speaker 5: non story. But again, you know, it probably is now
• 8:43
Speaker 5: become a little bit more of a story that what
• 8:46
Speaker 5: wouldn't have been Stephen because of the of the expost.
• 8:48
Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, it's why everyone should be like me
• 8:51
Speaker 10: and being bed by ten.
• 8:53
Speaker 8: I know. I actually saw it at midnight because I
• 8:56
Speaker 8: was up watching reality TV and I was like, oh,
• 8:58
Speaker 8: I can't text Steven and Brad because they go to
• 8:59
Speaker 8: bed normal hours like adult.
• 9:02
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, we'll just move on from there. Brand
• 9:05
Speaker 5: uh what and again, uh, we'll have more information as
• 9:08
Speaker 5: it becomes available, as we say, as we.
• 9:10
Speaker 3: Say in the business, not from us.
• 9:11
Speaker 12: I'm not looking anymore.
• 9:14
Speaker 5: Don't even get started talking about the China, because I
• 9:16
Speaker 5: get somebody that texted you all the time that wants
• 9:18
Speaker 5: me to ask the governor about the China at the
• 9:19
  Speaker 5: at the governor.
• 9:20
Speaker 3: Look, I will say this, Uh.
• 9:23
Speaker 5: One of the and I'm not trying to, you know,
• 9:25
Speaker 5: be in any way, shape or form, you know, mean
• 9:29
Speaker 5: hearted or whatever. I am happy that we have a
• 9:31
Speaker 5: governor and a first Lady that are at the Governor's
• 9:35
Speaker 5: Mansion as the constitution requires, and they seem like they
• 9:37
Speaker 5: have really really taken to it and doing all the
• 9:40
Speaker 5: decorating and doing all the things. They're not just a
• 9:43
Speaker 5: Christmas but year around. So to me, that's refreshing to see.
• 9:45
Speaker 10: Bringing in the tourists, I think, especially for Christmas was
• 9:48
Speaker 10: especially nice. It's the hundredth Most people don't stop to
• 9:51
Speaker 10: realize this. It's the one hundredth anniversary.
• 9:53
  Speaker 11: Uh.
• 9:54
Speaker 10: This year was of the Governor's mansion from when it
• 9:57
  Speaker 10: was completed.
• 9:58
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 9:58
Speaker 10: And I know that, and I've talked to a few
• 10:01
Speaker 10: people and the governor's staff. They're all about trying to
• 10:03
Speaker 10: kind of highlight the mansion and showcase. It's one of
• 10:06
Speaker 10: the reasons they did the tours here during the Christmas season.
• 10:10
Speaker 10: And it's a beautiful place. If you've never been in it,
• 10:12
Speaker 10: I take the tour.
• 10:13
Speaker 5: Yeah, Brad in your opinion, and we'll kind of go
• 10:17
Speaker 5: in this direction right now. Biggest one or two stories
• 10:22
Speaker 5: that had the most impact in West Virginian in twenty
• 10:24
  Speaker 5: twenty five.
• 10:26
Speaker 7: No, man, well, you know this is the tragedy involved.
• 10:30
Speaker 7: This is going to be a bummer. But I certainly
• 10:33
Speaker 7: think that it's the deployment of the West Virginian National
• 10:36
Speaker 7: Guard to Washington, d C. Which was a major story
• 10:39
Speaker 7: in itself, but it became about much more so with
• 10:43
Speaker 7: the shootings of Sarah Bestrom and Andrew Wolfe. Bextrom of
• 10:47
Speaker 7: course died on Thanksgiving Day, bringing that tragedy to a head.
• 10:52
Speaker 7: I mean pointing for so many West Virginians who know
• 10:55
Speaker 7: people much like her. She was a twenty twenty three
• 11:00
Speaker 7: high school graduate, had her full life to live, and
• 11:03
Speaker 7: you know you saw a community outpouring in response to
• 11:07
Speaker 7: her death. Just just a senseless tragedy. And then Andrew
• 11:11
Speaker 7: wolf also shot the day before Thanksgiving near the Farragut
• 11:17
Speaker 7: West metro stop in Washington, d C. And you know
• 11:21
Speaker 7: that's a tragedy too. He appears to be recovery, which
• 11:28
Speaker 7: which warms the heart, but it's it's hard to think
• 11:32
Speaker 7: that his life or his families will ever be the same.
• 11:35
Speaker 7: And what so I mean to me that that was
• 11:40
Speaker 7: a major story of twenty twenty five here in the
• 11:43
Speaker 7: last weeks since Thanksgiving, and anyway, apologies to everyone for
• 11:48
Speaker 7: being such a bummer, but I think.
• 11:50
  Speaker 5: No, and that's I mean, that's a there's no wrong answer.
• 11:53
Speaker 5: I mean, I asked for people to kind of weigh
• 11:55
Speaker 5: in on what they saw.
• 11:55
  Speaker 3: Amelia.
• 11:57
Speaker 12: I was going to say that one because leading.
• 11:59
Speaker 3: Let's just all agree on that, that was the story.
• 12:01
Speaker 3: Stephen Okay, oh for sure, National Guard in general.
• 12:03
Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, And I was going to say adding to that,
• 12:05
Speaker 8: I mean it obviously Thanksgiving, it took a turn in
• 12:09
Speaker 8: a very sad way, but there were a lot of
• 12:10
Speaker 8: legal questions about it leading up to that too. Something
• 12:13
Speaker 8: else that stands up to me this year is all
• 12:15
Speaker 8: the school closures. Yes, and those are some of our
• 12:17
Speaker 8: most read stories at West Virginia Watch. So you know,
• 12:21
Speaker 8: it's not just here in Kenall County. It's all over
• 12:23
Speaker 8: the state and in some of these rural counties. I mean,
• 12:26
Speaker 8: I have Clay County looking at losing their only middle
• 12:28
Speaker 8: school for the whole county. It's going to consolidate with
• 12:31
Speaker 8: her high school. You have school, you have so many
• 12:33
Speaker 8: elementary schools closing, and so I think just our declining
• 12:36
Speaker 8: population other factors have played into that, and I think
• 12:41
Speaker 8: while those may not be the stories you see above
• 12:43
Speaker 8: the fold every day, those are the stories I think
• 12:45
Speaker 8: communities are really grappling with this year.
• 12:48
  Speaker 6: Well.
• 12:48
Speaker 10: I feel like the religious vaccine exemption issue has literally
• 12:53
Speaker 10: been with us since beginning of twenty twenty five on,
• 12:55
Speaker 10: literally from the day after Governor Morrissey took office, because
• 12:58
Speaker 10: he does other executive order allowing for religious exemptions to
• 13:02
Speaker 10: the school compulsory vaccine law for school aged children. Then
• 13:05
Speaker 10: the legislative session happens, we have the governor's build codify that.
• 13:10
Speaker 10: Of course it dies in the House. Then we have
• 13:12
Speaker 10: the fight between the Governor and the State Board of
• 13:15
Speaker 10: Education on the policies regarding that. Then we have the
• 13:17
Speaker 10: lawsuit filed in Rowley County. We have the preliminary exemption
• 13:23
Speaker 10: of the preliminary you know, stopping of this sort of thing.
• 13:28
Speaker 10: You've got the permanent injunction, and now it's before the
• 13:32
Speaker 10: State Supreme Court, and we're not even gonna get this
• 13:33
Speaker 10: thing settled until probably the middle of twenty twenty six.
• 13:36
Speaker 9: So it's been with.
• 13:37
Speaker 10: Us all year long and really kind of sucking up
• 13:40
Speaker 10: a lot of the oxygen.
• 13:41
Speaker 5: Yeah, we have and I definitely want to get into
• 13:43
Speaker 5: an area that you specialize in.
• 13:46
  Speaker 3: Amelia.
• 13:47
Speaker 5: Well, you write a lot about it, I'll say, because
• 13:48
Speaker 5: you specialize in a lot of different areas and that's
• 13:49
Speaker 5: the that's the foster care situations.
• 13:51
Speaker 3: We'll get in a little bit of it.
• 13:52
Speaker 5: So we're going to take a break. Brad, can you
• 13:53
Speaker 5: stick around with us? Or are are you off to

Speaker 3: That's where we are right.
• 17:31
Speaker 5: Now, and again, not a lot of snow out there

  Speaker 3: Okay, all right.
• 18:05
Speaker 5: We had a question that somebody called in and we
• 18:08
Speaker 5: didn't put him on the air, but they had a question.
• 18:09
Speaker 5: Maybe one of you all can answer this. Do we
• 18:11
Speaker 5: have any updates on Andrew Wolfe's condition? If you guys
• 18:14
Speaker 5: heard anything in a while, Amelia, Stephen, I'll let Ameli
• 18:17
Speaker 5: I'll start with you. Any any updates that.
• 18:19
Speaker 3: We've heard lately, not lately.
• 18:21
Speaker 8: I feel like a week ago I saw another encouraging
• 18:24
Speaker 8: post from his family.
• 18:25
Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, the governor I think talked about it. Brad,
• 18:28
Speaker 3: do you have anything to update.
• 18:32
Speaker 7: You know now and then the adjutant General Jim Seward
• 18:35
Speaker 7: provides an update about Wolfe's condition, as does sometimes his
• 18:41
Speaker 7: mother on social media, and I think all have been
• 18:45
Speaker 7: positive signs. I mean, he's still in I think really
• 18:49
Speaker 7: serious shape, has a long word ahead of him, but
• 18:53
Speaker 7: it sounds like is continuing his recovery in physical rehabilitation's Stephen.
• 19:01
Speaker 10: I think the most recent update was posted yesterday by
• 19:06
Speaker 10: General Seward specific prayer requests for Andy. Priest joined me
• 19:10
Speaker 10: in praying for Andy while he's engaged in intensive rehab
• 19:13
Speaker 10: six hours a day, specifically for his speech and cognitive ability.
• 19:18
Speaker 10: So it looks to me like he is just on
• 19:21
Speaker 10: the rehabilitate rehabilitation train. Obviously long ways to go, but
• 19:27
Speaker 10: it does sound like there's improvement with every day, so
• 19:31
Speaker 10: that's wonderful to hear.
• 19:32
Speaker 5: All right, guys, Speaker Handshaw had the Republican Caucus of
• 19:38
Speaker 5: the House, you know, not long ago, they had two
• 19:39
Speaker 5: three weeks ago, had a press conference over they were saying,
• 19:41
Speaker 5: we are going to focus, uh, not so much on
• 19:44
Speaker 5: social issues, but on business issues.
• 19:46
  Speaker 7: Now.
• 19:46
Speaker 5: It's not to say that things can't come up, because
• 19:48
Speaker 5: things do. But you know the House, and this was
• 19:50
  Speaker 5: not the Senate.
• 19:50
Speaker 3: This was the House.
• 19:51
Speaker 5: We are focused on business, commerce, you know, all the things.
• 19:56
Speaker 5: Likelihood is we cross into the new year in a
• 19:58
Speaker 5: couple of weeks we begin session. Likelihood that that continues.
• 20:01
Speaker 5: Brad will start with you, Well.
• 20:05
Speaker 7: You know, I think one indicator has been the Governor
• 20:08
Speaker 7: Patrick Morrissey a couple of times has had press conferences
• 20:11
Speaker 7: emphasizing economic matters. I think it was a good idea
• 20:17
Speaker 7: by the House Speaker and the entire FUCUS to set
• 20:21
Speaker 7: a goal and to work toward it as the session begins,
• 20:25
Speaker 7: rather than just having things unstated. I think you're more
• 20:28
Speaker 7: likely to actually focus and then you know, we've heard
• 20:32
Speaker 7: I think very little from the Senate so far. You
• 20:35
Speaker 7: do have to get things through two chambers, so it's
• 20:38
Speaker 7: hard to tell when we finally hit the session what
• 20:42
Speaker 7: the emphasis truly will be.
• 20:44
Speaker 10: Yeah, we have the Lee Western jam Press Association has
• 20:47
Speaker 10: its Legislative look Ahead a week from Friday this Friday,
• 20:51
Speaker 10: where we'll hear from the House Speaker Hanshaw and Senate
• 20:55
Speaker 10: President Randy Smith, so we should get more of a
• 20:57
Speaker 10: view from the Senate side of things, hopefully where their
• 21:00
Speaker 10: heads are at what they plan to do. But yeah,
• 21:04
Speaker 10: I do think that the message has been received. There's
• 21:09
Speaker 10: been pulling that the Chamber of Commerce has done, other
• 21:11
Speaker 10: groups have done. People are interested in better economic conditions,
• 21:17
Speaker 10: or interested more jobs, or interested I kind of hate
• 21:20
Speaker 10: the use of this buzz word now, but but but
• 21:25
Speaker 10: I mean, but it's true though, I mean, affordability is
• 21:27
Speaker 10: a broad phrase. But people are interested in those types
• 21:30
Speaker 10: of issues. And sure there will be some that tried
• 21:32
Speaker 10: to push some social issues. I think State Cenator my
• 21:35
Speaker 10: Cage Singers is going to probably bold across to every
• 21:38
Speaker 10: school in the state by the time the legislative session's done.
• 21:41
Speaker 10: But otherwise, I do think the focus is primarily going
• 21:44
Speaker 10: to be on improving economic conditions.
• 21:48
  Speaker 12: I agree, I don't think.
• 21:50
Speaker 8: I do think the House will have that focus because
• 21:52
Speaker 8: you look at who's in some of the leadership positions
• 21:54
Speaker 8: in the House, like Delegate jb Acres, even Delegate Warrel
• 21:58
Speaker 8: who's over the House Health Committee. They aren't usually pushing
• 22:01
Speaker 8: social issues, even if they might agree with some of
• 22:03
Speaker 8: those things. So I don't think the House is really
• 22:06
Speaker 8: going to stray from that. I mean, you never know,
• 22:07
  Speaker 8: it's an election, Ye're right, But I think it's what
• 22:10
Speaker 8: happens after those bills leave that chamber.
• 22:12
Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean there was not the best.
• 22:15
Speaker 8: Vibes between the Senate and House last year, or the
• 22:18
Speaker 8: Legislature and the governor, and so I think it just
• 22:20
Speaker 8: it's more going to be what happens when that bill
• 22:22
Speaker 8: leaves the House and how does it go.
• 22:24
Speaker 5: It's nine twenty nine to Day Island showing five eighty

• 22:36
Speaker 3: Menumeil, y'all want to start with you on.
• 22:38
Speaker 5: The foster care situation. And unfortunately, you know, just like
• 22:42
Speaker 5: there's two things foster care Peia and they kind of
• 22:46
Speaker 5: they seem to be side by side A and B
• 22:49
Speaker 5: or should I say six seven? I mean, don't please, don't.
• 22:52
Speaker 3: I have no idea.
• 22:53
Speaker 5: Every now and then I throw something out that makes
• 22:55
Speaker 5: Ryan just scratch his head, you know, but these two things,
• 23:01
Speaker 5: it seems like this time last year we probably sat
• 23:05
Speaker 5: here and said what about foster care and PI.
• 23:09
Speaker 3: Take it from there.
• 23:10
Speaker 8: I mean, so I think coming into this session, what
• 23:13
Speaker 8: is a little bit different is that you have a
• 23:14
Speaker 8: governor who has vowed changes to the foster care system.
• 23:18
Speaker 8: And that's not to say that Governor Justice didn't want
• 23:20
Speaker 8: those things or didn't bring them up, but Governor Morrissey
• 23:23
Speaker 8: has held now two press conferences specifically calling for foster
• 23:27
Speaker 8: care reform. He just rolled out a plan to bring
• 23:30
Speaker 8: about three hundred kids from out of state back in
• 23:32
Speaker 8: state who are in facilities.
• 23:34
Speaker 12: We haven't really seen.
• 23:35
Speaker 8: That focus from a governor, you know, in the last
• 23:37
Speaker 8: few years. Then you have a group of lawmakers who
• 23:40
Speaker 8: have already introduced close to fifteen bills about foster care.
• 23:43
Speaker 8: So we're heading into the session, I think with a
• 23:46
Speaker 8: very strong focus on this issue. I think the question
• 23:51
Speaker 8: marks moving forward are money. A lot of these ideas
• 23:54
Speaker 8: take money. This is not a legislature that has been
• 23:56
Speaker 8: a fan of spending extra money. Lawmakers are hoping that
• 24:00
Speaker 8: they can draw down some federal dollars to fix problems
• 24:03
Speaker 8: like CPS not enough CPS workers, or their caseloads are
• 24:06
Speaker 8: too high, or they want to put body cameras on
• 24:08
Speaker 8: CPS workers. Right, They have all these ideas, so I
• 24:10
Speaker 8: think that's something to move forward. And then also the
• 24:13
Speaker 8: Department of Human Services has to buy into the legislation,
• 24:16
Speaker 8: and I've already been told they're not a fan of
• 24:18
Speaker 8: most of these bills. And to be fair, sometimes lawmakers
• 24:23
Speaker 8: don't always know how to fix foster care right. But
• 24:25
Speaker 8: also there has to be collaboration between the branches for
• 24:28
Speaker 8: things to really work, not blame, not shoving it aside,
• 24:31
Speaker 8: not saying we'll fix that, don't worry about it, and
• 24:33
  Speaker 8: then they don't.
• 24:34
Speaker 12: So I think that's going to be the.
• 24:35
Speaker 10: Thing to PIA specifically. I think whatever they end up
• 24:39
Speaker 10: doing with PIA, if they do anything, I'm convinced that
• 24:42
Speaker 10: they may not do anything. But if they do anything,
• 24:46
Speaker 10: I think they'll make some tweaks, maybe to the spousal
• 24:48
Speaker 10: search art issue, because that's obviously going up. It has
• 24:53
Speaker 10: to go up because state code requires it to go
• 24:56
Speaker 10: up and change based on certain set of metrics whatnot.
• 25:00
Speaker 10: And the only way you can change that is the
• 25:02
Speaker 10: legislature going in and tweaking that. I could see them
• 25:04
Speaker 10: freezing that or someone trying to offer legislation to maybe
• 25:07
Speaker 10: freeze that to keep it from going up for one
• 25:09
Speaker 10: more year. But beyond that, I think whatever they do
• 25:13
Speaker 10: is going to be around the edges.
• 25:15
Speaker 5: Well, and one thing on the show last week, guys,
• 25:17
Speaker 5: I had Delegate Andy Shamblin on, and he's in a
• 25:19
Speaker 5: unique position because he's not only a legislator, but he's
• 25:21
Speaker 5: also a teacher, a teacher at Nighter High School. And
• 25:24
Speaker 5: of course they just went through that tragedy there when
• 25:27
Speaker 5: the student took his own life. That students' parents have
• 25:30
Speaker 5: gone public and said, you know, to try to warn
• 25:32
Speaker 5: other parents about these science and things of that nature.
• 25:35
Speaker 5: And I think the term we talked about terms at
• 25:38
Speaker 5: this time of year, it's a relatively new term the last.
• 25:41
Speaker 3: Couple of years, sextortion.
• 25:43
Speaker 5: This story has gotten nationwide attention because unfortunately, not only
• 25:49
Speaker 5: happens here, and this kind of happens all over the world.
• 25:51
  Speaker 3: Any possibility because.
• 25:53
Speaker 5: Andy Shamlin, who is a teacher and a legislator, seemed
• 25:55
Speaker 5: to be on the show last week very very adamant, guys,
• 25:58
Speaker 5: that we're going to take a look at something here,
• 26:01
Speaker 5: a code change or something.
• 26:02
Speaker 3: Brad, do you have anything on that.
• 26:06
Speaker 7: No, I mean, I think it's hard in the right place,
• 26:11
Speaker 7: you know. To me, what is necessary is for kids
• 26:15
Speaker 7: who are going through something like that to feel comfortable
• 26:19
Speaker 7: revealing it to their parents or to the police or whoever.
• 26:22
Speaker 7: And that's it's a big ask because you know it
• 26:26
Speaker 7: works on embarrassment and humiliation.
• 26:29
Speaker 8: Senator Chapman, who's over the Senate Health Committee, also has
• 26:32
Speaker 8: a focus on this issue.
• 26:34
Speaker 12: So I think this is one bill where we could see.
• 26:36
Speaker 8: I think companion bills in the House and Senate move forward,
• 26:39
Speaker 8: so I do think this is an issue we'll see.
• 26:41
Speaker 10: I'd also point out the Delegate Chamblain Courses also on
• 26:43
Speaker 10: the House Judiciary Committee as well. Liked delegate has good
• 26:47
Speaker 10: relationship with with Chairman Acres, so I'd say this has
• 26:51
Speaker 10: some real shoulders behind it to make it happen.

• 27:06
Speaker 3: Now let's talk about it. You mentioned it. Twenty twenty
• 27:08
Speaker 3: six is an election year.
• 27:09
Speaker 5: I had State Democratic Party chair in deligate Mike Pushkin
• 27:12
Speaker 5: on the Metro News midday program yesterday, and he had
• 27:14
Speaker 5: told me he had been all of the state and
• 27:16
Speaker 5: on the phone and on the zoom machine, you know,
• 27:18
Speaker 5: talking with prospective candidates about running that had The Democrats
• 27:22
Speaker 5: are very very serious. They see some inroads in West Virginia,
• 27:25
Speaker 5: mainly because of what some would say would be some
• 27:29
Speaker 5: infighting among Republicans. I think it's pretty ambitious. As much
• 27:33
Speaker 5: as I like Mike Pushkin personally, I think it's very
• 27:36
Speaker 5: ambitious to think that he'll be able to put somebody
• 27:39
Speaker 5: in all those positions run and that they'll have a
• 27:41
Speaker 5: legitimate shot at running. But let's talk about the Republicans
• 27:47
Speaker 5: for a moment. We've had more and more people in
• 27:51
Speaker 5: some very strong Republican areas on the come out said
• 27:54
Speaker 5: they're going to run in the primary against other Republicans.
• 27:56
Speaker 5: Now that wasn't it was that way with Democrats, but
• 27:58
Speaker 5: always wasn't always that way with Republicans. Is that in
• 28:02
Speaker 5: any of you, Guessteve, I'll start with you. Is is
• 28:04
Speaker 5: that a sign that there's issues or is that a
• 28:07
Speaker 5: sign that we're the controlling party and everybody wants a
• 28:10
Speaker 5: piece of it and then we're doing well well.
• 28:12
Speaker 10: I do think it is a sign that there are
• 28:15
Speaker 10: some fractures within the Republican Party in the state and
• 28:19
Speaker 10: Republican elected officials. I liking that the light red versus
• 28:22
Speaker 10: dark red. Light red being who you would consider to
• 28:25
Speaker 10: be your traditional Republicans pre Donald Trump Chamber of Commerce
• 28:31
Speaker 10: style Republicans that are into certain social issues but on
• 28:34
Speaker 10: the fringes, on the edges. But then you've got the
• 28:37
Speaker 10: dark red, which are going to be more of the
• 28:39
Speaker 10: far right, new right maga right types that are going
• 28:44
Speaker 10: to take a harder stance and are going to be
• 28:47
Speaker 10: kind of liberal on some issues that traditionally Republicans aren't
• 28:51
Speaker 10: really on, like, for example, like tort reform and stuff
• 28:54
Speaker 10: like that, and doing some issue trying to pull out
• 28:57
Speaker 10: some of those tort reform issues. So I think you're
• 28:59
Speaker 10: seeing that fight play out. A lot of the candidates
• 29:02
Speaker 10: that they recruited, especially in the Senate on the Republican side,
• 29:05
Speaker 10: are meant to take on some of the more conservative
• 29:08
Speaker 10: members that have kind of come the leadership positions in
• 29:10
Speaker 10: that body. So that's the fight I think you're seeing.
• 29:16
Speaker 7: Well, yeah, I mean, I think what we've seen for
• 29:19
Speaker 7: the last five years or so, maybe longer has been
• 29:23
Speaker 7: has been conflicts among the supermajorities themselves. You know what
• 29:30
Speaker 7: kind of what brand of Republican are you? And it's
• 29:32
Speaker 7: it's been more that than than fights between Republicans and Democrats.
• 29:38
Speaker 7: And I mean until Democrats make more inroads, that's that's
• 29:42
Speaker 7: going to continue. And it's reflected in the closed primaries
• 29:46
Speaker 7: that Republicans are about to embark on. You know, that's
• 29:50
Speaker 7: that's a sign that the in fighting, I think, and.
• 29:53
Speaker 5: The Republicans last year at their convention, guys, they came
• 29:57
Speaker 5: out and they closed Brad alude to they closed primary.
• 30:00
Speaker 5: So if you're a registered independent, you know, used to
• 30:04
Speaker 5: go in be able to go in and say I
• 30:05
  Speaker 5: want to I'm a registered independent, but I want a
• 30:07
Speaker 5: Republican or I want a Democrat.
• 30:09
  Speaker 8: Bow.
• 30:09
Speaker 5: The Republicans have said no to that. Their argument that
• 30:11
Speaker 5: got this, the people that got this passed. Their argument was,
• 30:14
Speaker 5: if you're a Republican, then you should register as a Republican.
• 30:17
Speaker 5: If you're a Democrat, you should register as a Democrat.
• 30:19
Speaker 5: I said that, I think that's going to hurt the Republicans.
• 30:22
Speaker 5: Some people agree, some people don't agree. I think that
• 30:25
Speaker 5: the Democratic Party is and Pushkin and others have come
• 30:29
Speaker 5: out and said, look, you they this is their imaging.
• 30:32
Speaker 5: This is not what I'm saying. Their imaging has been Look,
• 30:34
Speaker 5: they don't want you. You're welcome to to come over
• 30:38
Speaker 5: to us. Do you think there'll be any impact come
• 30:40
  Speaker 5: the primary election.
• 30:41
  Speaker 3: Amelia, I do.
• 30:42
  Speaker 8: I mean, I don't know that I have a really
• 30:45
Speaker 8: good prediction, but I do think we'll see an impact
• 30:47
Speaker 8: on it, especially with this infighting with the Republicans. I
• 30:50
Speaker 8: think if this had been done a few years ago,
• 30:54
Speaker 8: maybe it wouldn't have mattered that much. But now with
• 30:56
Speaker 8: this fracture that's really visible in the party, I think
• 30:59
Speaker 8: it'll be interesting. We also have a new voter ID
• 31:02
Speaker 8: law going into effect before this next election, where you
• 31:05
Speaker 8: have to have what a driver's a government ID.
• 31:08
Speaker 9: And we were one photo idea.
• 31:10
Speaker 8: Yeah yeah, and so now like your Medicaid card and
• 31:13
Speaker 8: some other forms of ID that maybe elderly voters which
• 31:16
Speaker 8: were a very elderly state would have used to vote,
• 31:19
Speaker 8: are not going to work. And we were told on
• 31:22
Speaker 8: the House floor that that, you know, these county clerks
• 31:25
Speaker 8: can print these new IDs.
• 31:27
Speaker 12: I would like to verify that's actually something I want
• 31:29
  Speaker 12: to work on.
• 31:29
Speaker 5: I can tell you, I can tell you I'll go
• 31:31
Speaker 5: a little inside Baseball Here full disclosure. Steve and I
• 31:34
Speaker 5: both will spent time in a Secretary of State's office.
• 31:36
Speaker 5: I can tell you when the vote. The voter ID
• 31:38
Speaker 5: law went into effect in twenty eighteen. The first time
• 31:41
Speaker 5: it was used was in the Roads to Prosperity election. Yeah,
• 31:44
Speaker 5: you could at that time go to your county clerk's
• 31:46
Speaker 5: office and you could request a free photo ID because
• 31:50
Speaker 5: I know, because some of us had to go on
• 31:52
Speaker 5: the road and and put those cameras out there, and
• 31:56
Speaker 5: they were absolutely free at that point. Very few people
• 32:00
Speaker 5: we took them up on it, very few people. Most
• 32:01
Speaker 5: people that came into the county clerk's office said well,
• 32:04
Speaker 5: I just want another photo ID, and then they had
• 32:05
Speaker 5: to explain to him, well, this is only for voting.
• 32:08
Speaker 5: This is not going to get you your ability to
• 32:10
Speaker 5: get a hotel room or sorry.
• 32:11
  Speaker 2: Right.
• 32:12
Speaker 8: And I had seen a news story, I think in
• 32:14
Speaker 8: Hancock County months ago that they got a grant to
• 32:16
Speaker 8: get the machine to make these voto ideas. So it
• 32:18
Speaker 8: got me thinking like, well who else needs a grant
• 32:20
  Speaker 8: to get those?
• 32:20
  Speaker 2: Right?
• 32:21
Speaker 12: So anyway, I just I'm not saying that I'll have
• 32:23
  Speaker 12: a massive effect, but I.
• 32:24
Speaker 8: Think the closed primary the voter, right, like, there's some
• 32:26
Speaker 8: things that play in this election that'll be interesting.
• 32:28
Speaker 3: So even you want to follow up on that.
• 32:29
Speaker 10: Yeah, I think she's right, and I think look, I mean,
• 32:33
Speaker 10: Trump nationwide is not popular, but he remains popular in West.
• 32:37
Speaker 3: Virginia, and zero signed that that's changing in West Virginia.
• 32:40
Speaker 10: Not no change of that in the state of West Virginia.
• 32:42
Speaker 10: But do I think, particularly you're more urban parts of
• 32:46
Speaker 10: the state that Democrats can take maybe one or two
• 32:49
Speaker 10: House seats, maybe take a Senate seat, perhaps up in
• 32:53
Speaker 10: the Montegalia Marion County corridor.
• 32:56
  Speaker 9: I think it's possible.
• 32:57
Speaker 10: I think you might see a few Democratic pickups, not
• 32:59
Speaker 10: a lot, not enough to break up the super majority
• 33:01
Speaker 10: and the Republicans, but enough the where it might make
• 33:05
Speaker 10: somebody raise a few eyebrows.
• 33:07
  Speaker 12: I think that's this election.
• 33:08
Speaker 8: A Democrat candidate described it to me as a lightning
• 33:11
Speaker 8: and a bottle moment, and I would agree with that.
• 33:13
Speaker 12: Yeah, there's no Trump on the ticket or a JD.
• 33:16
Speaker 8: Vans, I think, and people are very frustrated with national politics,
• 33:21
  Speaker 8: local politics.
• 33:21
Speaker 12: Why can I not afford my grocery bill?
• 33:23
Speaker 8: And so those things along with this closed primary, all
• 33:26
Speaker 8: these things might play in Temacris well.
• 33:28
Speaker 5: And I'll kind of close with this and Brad, I'll
• 33:30
Speaker 5: give you an opportunity to wag in this as well.
• 33:32
Speaker 5: In talking to Pushkin on the mid Day Show yesterday,
• 33:35
Speaker 5: I said, you know, as a marketing from a marketing perspective,
• 33:38
Speaker 5: to go in and convince somebody who may be very
• 33:40
Speaker 5: very strong in their beliefs, you know that I'm a
• 33:45
Speaker 5: Democrat and I want to run. What they're going to
• 33:47
Speaker 5: do when they go into some of these areas and
• 33:49
Speaker 5: they knock on doors and a lot of questions because
• 33:52
Speaker 5: I've been there, I've seen it, a lot of questions
• 33:54
Speaker 5: are going to be Okay, you're a registered Democrat, how
• 33:56
Speaker 5: do you feel about Trump?
• 33:57
  Speaker 3: And when you.
• 33:58
Speaker 5: Go into some of these hollers and West Virginia, as
• 34:01
Speaker 5: soon as you say, well, I'm not really a door
• 34:03
Speaker 5: slams because that's where West Virginia is right now, and
• 34:06
Speaker 5: it's it's rough. And push Can admitted that on show
• 34:09
Speaker 5: it's going to be rough to try to convince people
• 34:10
Speaker 5: to run. Although he says they're doing a good job
• 34:12
Speaker 5: and I believe him on that, but to to you know,
• 34:16
Speaker 5: get that image that because all politics has become national
• 34:19
Speaker 5: over the last couple of years to say, I am
• 34:21
Speaker 5: a old school West Virginia Republican. And then they start
• 34:25
Speaker 5: throwing out the turns Biden, Pelosi, Kamala Harris, so on
• 34:27
  Speaker 5: and so forth.
• 34:28
Speaker 3: Brad, your thoughts on that, and we'll and then and
• 34:30
Speaker 3: then we'll let you go. How's that? And and I've
• 34:32
Speaker 3: got other things to get to as well.
• 34:35
Speaker 7: Well. You know, I would say the most important election
• 34:38
Speaker 7: this spring in West Virginia is actually non partisan. There
• 34:41
Speaker 7: are two seats up on the state Supreme Court. That
• 34:43
Speaker 7: has been a move to try to make those partisan races.
• 34:47
Speaker 7: But they are non partisan for now, two out of
• 34:49
Speaker 7: the five justices, and they have important things ahead of
• 34:52
Speaker 7: them this year. So if that's not on your radar, listeners,
• 34:57
Speaker 7: I really think it should be.
• 34:58
  Speaker 9: It should be.
• 34:58
Speaker 3: You're absolutely right. We'll close with that. Brad.
• 35:01
Speaker 5: Thank you so much, and I hope you and the
• 35:02
Speaker 5: family have a very very happy New Year.
• 35:04

• 38:56
Speaker 5: are going to go out and sadly many will try

Speaker 5: little snow and ice. So it started to Jeremy Burns
• 39:09
Speaker 5: from the Kanawh County Sheriff's Partment's here and he joins us.
• 39:11
Speaker 3: Now good morning, sir, and welcome to the show.
• 39:13
Speaker 4: Good morning, good to be here.
• 39:14
Speaker 5: First of all, I talked earlier about this traffic situation
• 39:17
Speaker 5: on I seventy seven around Cistonville, and I know that
• 39:20
Speaker 5: when you leave here, I think you're gonna go and
• 39:21
Speaker 5: try to help those guys out up there. There's slick
• 39:25
Speaker 5: conditions out there this morning. Not a lot of snow,
• 39:26
Speaker 5: but there's slick conditions out there, and you guys are
• 39:28
  Speaker 5: on it.
• 39:28
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 39:29
Speaker 4: I've been in contact with the news all morning, and
• 39:30
Speaker 4: I've actually lost count of the number of recks we've
• 39:32
Speaker 4: actually had where we have deputies working accidents with accidents
• 39:36
Speaker 4: happening right beside them. Yeah, so it's pretty bad up there.
• 39:38
Speaker 4: They have I believe the south Found lane shut down
• 39:40
Speaker 4: right now. Yeah, just wait on DH show up and
• 39:42
  Speaker 4: salt the roads.
• 39:43
Speaker 5: Yeah, it's gonna get better a little bit later on
• 39:44
Speaker 5: to the day because we're gonna get a little sunshine
• 39:46
Speaker 5: actually warm up to around four thirty seven forty degrees
• 39:48
Speaker 5: wearing in general neighborhood. All right, it should be a
• 39:51
Speaker 5: no brainer, you know, to tell people don't drink and drive,
• 39:54
Speaker 5: but people do it, and they do it, not just
• 39:56
Speaker 5: on New Year's Eve, they do it year round. But
• 39:58
Speaker 5: adding to the fact tonight we are going to have
• 40:00
Speaker 5: some snow roll in they say after night or ten
• 40:02
Speaker 5: ocloss couldn't make it even worse. Your advice to people
• 40:04
Speaker 5: if they're heading out tonight, First.
• 40:07
Speaker 4: And foremost, we want you to have fun, go out
• 40:09
Speaker 4: and enjoy New Year's Eve, celebrate, hang out with your friends.
• 40:12
Speaker 4: But we want you to be responsible. We want you
• 40:14
Speaker 4: to be safe, and more importantly, we just want to
• 40:16
Speaker 4: make sure you're not drinking and driving.
• 40:18
Speaker 5: And what about do you have extra patrols out tonight
• 40:21
Speaker 5: or I mean, here's the thing. Anytime I talk to
• 40:23
Speaker 5: anybody from the Kenaw County Sheriff's apart, but I mean,
• 40:25
Speaker 5: Connaw County is a big old county. I mean it's
• 40:28
Speaker 5: really it really is huge. And uh, but you're bringing
• 40:31
  Speaker 5: an extra patrol.
• 40:32
Speaker 4: So yeah, we're gonna put six additional deputies out this evening.
• 40:34
Speaker 4: And the whole reason for them being out is to
• 40:37
Speaker 4: target impair driving, right.
• 40:40
Speaker 5: And what I mean I don't want to give away
• 40:42
Speaker 5: trade secrets here, but I mean, what as a police officer,
• 40:47
Speaker 5: how do I mean do you do you there's signs
• 40:49
Speaker 5: obviously that you look for, but you know, you know,
• 40:52
Speaker 5: you're veering from lane to lane something like that. Officer,
• 40:56
Speaker 5: what are you looking at.
• 40:57
Speaker 4: When you're impaired. You have a hard time first and
• 40:59
Speaker 4: foremost keeping your car. You've heard between the lines, that's
• 41:01
Speaker 4: when you're going over the center line, going over the
• 41:03
Speaker 4: white line on your right. You have people that drive
• 41:05
Speaker 4: the wrong speed limit. They'll drive twenty miles slower they
• 41:09
Speaker 4: probably should be, or twenty miles faster. So there's a
• 41:11
Speaker 4: lot of things that factor into that. But we do
• 41:13
Speaker 4: our traffic stop. We go and talk to the driver.
• 41:16
Speaker 4: We look for certain signs. We look for, you know,
• 41:18
Speaker 4: the odor of alcohol. We look at your bloodshot eyes,
• 41:21
Speaker 4: and if those symptoms are there, then we I show
• 41:23
Speaker 4: a step out and do a few field.
• 41:24
Speaker 5: Spready, if you are, and I'm not trying to give
• 41:27
Speaker 5: away you know, if this is how you get by
• 41:28
Speaker 5: with it, that's not what I'm trying to do at all.
• 41:30
Speaker 3: Don't don't read me wrong. But if you are.
• 41:32
Speaker 5: If someone who's had a few drinks at a New
• 41:34
Speaker 5: Year's Eve party or any time and they get pulled over,
• 41:37
Speaker 5: is it better to just say Okay, I made a
• 41:41
  Speaker 5: mistake here.
• 41:42
Speaker 3: I mean, it's always better to be honest yeah, front
• 41:45
  Speaker 3: with the officer.
• 41:46
Speaker 4: But when it comes to New Year's Eve and it
• 41:48
Speaker 4: comes to impaired driving, we don't show any tolerance. Right,
• 41:51
Speaker 4: if you're impaired and you're putting other people's lives in danger,
• 41:54
Speaker 4: you're going up in handcuffs.
• 41:55
Speaker 5: Heis well, and it's not just about you. And sometimes,
• 41:59
Speaker 5: you know, you could see situations where someone is you
• 42:03
Speaker 5: may think that you're okay. Well, what if somebody that
• 42:05
Speaker 5: is sober crashes into you and and you're intoxic, you
• 42:09
Speaker 5: can still be charged. I mean even though you weren't
• 42:11
Speaker 5: necessarily the person that caused the accident.
• 42:13
Speaker 4: You cannot operate a motor vehicle compaired whatsoever. So whether
• 42:17
Speaker 4: you're a cause for the accident or not, if you're
• 42:19
Speaker 4: involved in that, it looks like it's your fault.
• 42:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, absolutely, one hundred pent.
• 42:22
Speaker 5: Bottom line is is you know, as you said, sergeant
• 42:25
Speaker 5: and you were talking with Sergeant Sergeant jam By Burns
• 42:27
Speaker 5: the Kana County Sheriff's Department, if you want to go
• 42:29
Speaker 5: out and have fun, if you are going to have
• 42:31
Speaker 5: a few or one even get a designated driver, put
• 42:35
Speaker 5: a diet coke in somebody's hand, or a water or whatever,
• 42:38
  Speaker 5: and and.
• 42:39
Speaker 3: Just and don't take that.
• 42:40
Speaker 5: And there's too many options out there now, you know,
• 42:43
Speaker 5: than what there were fifteen twenty years ago, because you know,
• 42:45
Speaker 5: everybody's got Lyft and Uber and things of that nature,
• 42:48
Speaker 5: so there's there's just so many options out there.
• 42:50
Speaker 4: Yeah, if you plan on going out this evening, go
• 42:52
Speaker 4: ahead and download your Uber app. Go ahead and download lyfts,
• 42:54
Speaker 4: set up your accounts, get the app ready, and if
• 42:57
Speaker 4: you feel like you've had too much this evening, call
• 42:59
  Speaker 4: that Uber.
• 42:59
Speaker 5: To And sometimes there will be those people that it
• 43:03
Speaker 5: sneaks up on you. You're to kind of go I
• 43:04
Speaker 5: thought it was okay, but I'm not. Now, don't take
• 43:07
Speaker 5: the chance. I mean, if you have a question, even
• 43:09
Speaker 5: if you don't, just just simply don't take the chance.
• 43:10
Speaker 5: And it puts if you go out to a bar
• 43:13
Speaker 5: type setting or some sort of a party, We've seen
• 43:16
Speaker 5: cases sometimes when even even the people that are serving
• 43:19
Speaker 5: them could be charged. So you know, just the bottom
• 43:21
Speaker 5: line is just just be safe or just stay home.
• 43:23
Speaker 3: And you could also do that as well.
• 43:25
Speaker 4: Yes, say it home is definitely the safest idea, but
• 43:28
Speaker 4: just know your limits. You know, know how much you
• 43:30
Speaker 4: can have and when you feel like you're hitting that stop.
• 43:33
Speaker 4: Sober up for a while before you go out and drive.
• 43:35
Speaker 5: All right, Stars Jeremy Burns, Kennaugh County Sheriff's Apartment. Be
• 43:38
Speaker 5: careful out there yourself, and also on that situation where
• 43:41
Speaker 5: the roads will kind of slick up on seventy seven
• 43:42
  Speaker 5: around Systemville.
• 43:43

Speaker 5: fifty eight fifty eight Tony the Tailored text three zero
• 46:00
Speaker 5: four nine three five five zero zero AA. We do
• 46:02
Speaker 5: have a couple of texts I want to get to,
• 46:04
Speaker 5: and there were a couple actually that came in.
• 46:07
  Speaker 3: One of these.
• 46:08
Speaker 5: Sometimes I think people get the text lines mixed up.
• 46:10
Speaker 5: We have two different text lines for this show and
• 46:12
Speaker 5: Metro News Midday. This text line Curtisy with Tony the
• 46:15
Speaker 5: Taylor's three zero four nine three five five zero zero eight,
• 46:18
Speaker 5: So just keep that in mind. Different text line though
• 46:21
Speaker 5: available for the Metro News Midday show. So sometimes texts
• 46:24
Speaker 5: come to this show and I don't get them because
• 46:26
Speaker 5: they were meant for the other show based on the time.
• 46:28
Speaker 5: But we were talking on Metro News Midday the other
• 46:30
Speaker 5: day had Dave Wilson on, who actually interviewed the first
• 46:35
Speaker 5: disc jockey in America to ever play John Denver's Country
• 46:39
Speaker 5: Roads and it was a WMOV radio in Ravenswood and
• 46:43
Speaker 5: he kind of broke some rules this guy did to
• 46:45
Speaker 5: put this into It was a great story. If you
• 46:47
Speaker 5: haven't heard it, go back and listen to podcast version
• 46:49
Speaker 5: of that that interview that Dave did.
• 46:51
Speaker 3: But somebody texted in about that.
• 46:53
Speaker 5: So twenty years ago, my college age son was in
• 46:56
Speaker 5: South Korea for student conference. He was at a local
• 46:58
Speaker 5: bar wearing a w sweatshirt. When the local musicians from
• 47:02
Speaker 5: South Korea learned it was his birthday and saw a sweatshirt,
• 47:05
Speaker 5: they started playing Country Roads and everyone started singing and
• 47:09
Speaker 5: said it was great. It's one of those songs that
• 47:11
Speaker 5: just become a universal favorite. I mean you to hear
• 47:15
Speaker 5: Country Roads people that have absolutely no ties, like South
• 47:18
Speaker 5: Korea for example, to West Virginia, people love the song.
• 47:22
  Speaker 3: Tex says.
• 47:23
Speaker 5: Going back to the election, the twenty twenty sixth primary
• 47:26
Speaker 5: will be near record low participation levels. The close primary
• 47:29
Speaker 5: thing will not be as pronounced as some may believe,
• 47:31
Speaker 5: merely because the turnout will be incredibly low.
• 47:34
Speaker 3: Yeah, it's going to be a very low turnouts.
• 47:35
Speaker 5: The text was absolutely right about that, and it traditionally
• 47:38
Speaker 5: in West Virginia is if there's not a presidential race,
• 47:41
Speaker 5: and this is midterm, so no presidential race.
• 47:45
  Speaker 7: Uh.
• 47:48
Speaker 5: On the squirrels, Texas, there used to be so many wonderful,
• 47:50
Speaker 5: happy squirrels, not the past year.
• 47:53
Speaker 3: Sad the governor. But now I'm not reading that important.
• 47:58
Speaker 5: Texays, Uh, Dave, how about TJ's commentary this morning? He
• 48:03
Speaker 5: sounded like a holier than now physical puritan who lacked
• 48:06
Speaker 5: empathy and supports the use of government as a punitive
• 48:09
Speaker 5: tool to use against its own citizens. Good thing, No
• 48:12
Speaker 5: one in government has used debt relief protections from overborrowing
• 48:15
Speaker 5: or being unable or unwilling to pay debt. Oh wait,
• 48:18
Speaker 5: our president is one's Texter. Tex says if only Morrissey
• 48:24
Speaker 5: was as worried about our guardsmen in DC as he
• 48:27
Speaker 5: was about the squirrels.
• 48:28
Speaker 3: Again, if you're wondering, why in the heck.
• 48:30
Speaker 5: Are they talking about squirrels, well, the story the governor
• 48:32
Speaker 5: on X last night did a Uh. There had been
• 48:35
Speaker 5: all these rumors going around about a giant squirrel extermination
• 48:39
Speaker 5: one of the capital. Steven's looked into it, Brad's looked
• 48:41
Speaker 5: into it, Amelia's looked into it. Nobody's been able to
• 48:44
Speaker 5: find out anything on this, and the governor took to
• 48:46
Speaker 5: X last night to put a comment out about it,
• 48:49
Speaker 5: demanding that another news organization or asking I guess that
• 48:52
Speaker 5: another news organization address it.
• 48:54
Speaker 3: And uh and so that's that's.
• 48:57
Speaker 5: Where where do they get the facts and whatever? There
• 48:58
Speaker 5: doesn't seem to be anything the stories bottom line coming
• 49:01
Speaker 5: up later today. I Metro News Midday with thirteen News
• 49:03
Speaker 5: and Tonight Live anchor Manda Baron and me It's Wednesday,
• 49:06
Speaker 5: which means another wonderful West Virginian will be honored.
• 49:09
  Speaker 3: Delicate.
• 49:09
Speaker 5: Clay Riley is going to join us on the show today,
• 49:12
Speaker 5: you know, and we hear so much about data centers
• 49:16
Speaker 5: and so much of it's negative, but not everyone is
• 49:20
Speaker 5: against them, and Delegate Riley was one of those.
• 49:22
Speaker 3: Had a conversation with him last night.
• 49:25
Speaker 5: This has been one that's been one percent on board
• 49:28
Speaker 5: with data centers and introduced legislation you know.
• 49:32
  Speaker 3: About it.
• 49:32
Speaker 5: So Delegate Riley is going to join us during the
• 49:35
Speaker 5: two o'clock hour on the show today. Plus we are
• 49:37
Speaker 5: going to spend some more time talking about student loans,
• 49:42
  Speaker 5: and again TJ.
• 49:43
  Speaker 3: Meadows is going.
• 49:44
Speaker 5: To join TJ who may be the worst vacationer ever
• 49:47
Speaker 5: because he's on vacation, but he's joined us twice on.
• 49:50
Speaker 3: The show to this week, so he's going to join
• 49:52
  Speaker 3: us quickly.
• 49:53
Speaker 5: Chris Lawrence will have the news too, Meteoriologist Show Fitzwater
• 49:56
Speaker 5: will stop buy and of course Open Line West Virginia
• 49:58
Speaker 5: Metro News Midday powered by Selango law with thirteen News
• 50:01
Speaker 5: in tonight Live anchor Manda Baron and me coming up
• 50:04
Speaker 5: at noon today. I had a text here to the
• 50:06
Speaker 5: show and I want to address just real quick, and
• 50:07
Speaker 5: it said, continued Prayer's Dave, if you were listening to
• 50:10
Speaker 5: the Metro News Midday show yesterday, and I'm a person
• 50:12
Speaker 5: that kind of lives my life out in the open.
• 50:15
Speaker 5: I talked about this on Metro News Midday yesterday, but
• 50:18
Speaker 5: just in case you may have missed it, not trying
• 50:20
Speaker 5: to get sympathy or anything like that, just throwing it
• 50:23
Speaker 5: out there. I've I got a couple of health issues.
• 50:27
Speaker 5: I'm not planning on checking out anytime soon, but I
• 50:29
Speaker 5: did how to check up with the doctor and they
• 50:32
Speaker 5: were concerned about my my PSA levels, and so I
• 50:37
Speaker 5: kind of, you know, didn't do what I should as
• 50:39
Speaker 5: far as a follow up appointment, and I went back
• 50:41
Speaker 5: for a check and they said, well, guess what, They've
• 50:42
Speaker 5: gone up even more.
• 50:44
Speaker 3: So I've started this series of you know.
• 50:46
Speaker 5: Trying to get it, you know, checked out about a
• 50:50
Speaker 5: pretty high percentage rate that it probably is is cancer.
• 50:54
Speaker 5: And I'm okay with that because just got to start
• 50:56
Speaker 5: the treatment or whatever the treatment is.
• 50:58
  Speaker 2: Now.
• 50:58
Speaker 5: I go in next Thursday and I will not be
• 51:01
Speaker 5: on either show. Next Thursday. I will go in for
• 51:03
Speaker 5: a for a BIOPSYE and we'll kind of see where
• 51:06
Speaker 5: we are from there.
• 51:08
Speaker 3: But I appreciate I I put it on.
• 51:10
Speaker 5: So I mean it's social media official, as the kids
• 51:13
Speaker 5: would say on a couple of times, and did a
• 51:16
Speaker 5: post about it Monday. They got a lot of phone
• 51:17
Speaker 5: calls and texts and things of that nature and people
• 51:20
  Speaker 5: well wishers.
• 51:21
Speaker 3: And bottom line is is that it's if it is,
• 51:24
  Speaker 3: it's very treatable.
• 51:25
Speaker 5: It's very and some I've done a lot of research,
• 51:28
Speaker 5: talking to various people, talking to my medical professionals.
• 51:31
Speaker 3: In some cases they don't do anything at all.
• 51:33
Speaker 5: They just monitor it. Other cases they there may be
• 51:37
Speaker 5: surgery or radiation, or there may be they're doing this
• 51:40
Speaker 5: thing with seeds now which I don't even want to
• 51:42
Speaker 5: go there the ability to grow cabbage in places that
• 51:46
Speaker 5: I don't want to grow it. But anyway, so may
• 51:49
Speaker 5: look into that, may not look into anything at all,
• 51:52
Speaker 5: but the but the bottom line is is I'm only
• 51:54
Speaker 5: The only reason I even put it on the air
• 51:56
Speaker 5: and on social media to begin with was to tell
• 52:00
Speaker 5: people that you got to take care of yourself. And
• 52:02
Speaker 5: I have been one that has been very, very guilty
• 52:04
Speaker 5: of not doing as much.
• 52:05
Speaker 3: So I Millie Snyder would be proud.
• 52:08
Speaker 5: I've still standaluz a little bit more, but I've lost
• 52:11
Speaker 5: about thirty pounds over the last six to eight months
• 52:15
Speaker 5: and working on it. As the late great Chris Ria
• 52:18
Speaker 5: would say, And those of you that are obscure music
• 52:21
Speaker 5: fans know who Chris Raya.
• 52:22
Speaker 3: Is working on it. We got this all right.
• 52:25
Speaker 5: No local show tomorrow or Friday. I'll be back on Monday.
• 52:29
