Transcript
- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Ellie, no one is dead. Well, Megan, welcome to What's
- 0:14your least favorite scary movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:17the good, the bad, the ugly, and the absurd in all of our
- 0:19favorite. Family's favorite Scary.
- 0:21Movies. Because we believe every horror
- 0:22movie rifely has its fan base. I don't always get it.
- 0:26My name is Travis. My name is Jesse, and this week
- 0:29we are talking about so probably, yeah.
- 0:34This has been when it's been requested.
- 0:35Yes, this was actually a listener request and it's one
- 0:38we've been wanting to do for a while and it fit really well
- 0:41into our schedule for this month.
- 0:42So we doing it. Yeah, see, we listen, people.
- 0:45Yeah, OK. I have no announcements.
- 0:48Travis, do you have poll results?
- 0:51I do. I came up with the poll this
- 0:52week and I'm very happy about it.
- 0:54I. Like this poll, and I think a
- 0:55lot of people did too. I had a lot of people
- 0:57participate. So thanks everybody for doing
- 0:59it. This past episode we talked
- 1:02about Texas Chainsaw. I'm asked for Part 2 and we just
- 1:05wanted to ask everybody what's the most important thing in
- 1:08life? Music the saw, meat or skics?
- 1:15Skics. Skics.
- 1:19OK, so the results, 26% voted for music, 37 for the saw, 21
- 1:27for meat, 16 for skex. I I'm going with skex baby skex.
- 1:35I'm going with the saw because the saw is family, and nothing's
- 1:38more important than your chosen family.
- 1:41OK but it's even better when it's Skexy family.
- 1:48Travis is bright red right now, you guys.
- 1:50He. Realized he realized that he
- 1:53chose the non sentimental answer and then I was like, oh,
- 1:56family's more important and he's like, oh, I can't.
- 2:03We've been joking around that we've been passing around the
- 2:06brain cell between the two of us for the past few days, and we
- 2:09realized neither of us has it right now.
- 2:11So. It's it's back at me because.
- 2:13After that, no it's not. OK, OK.
- 2:17Talia has it. Talia has it.
- 2:19Talia. 'S got her brain cell right now.
- 2:21Yeah, so you guys are in for one fucking weird episode today.
- 2:26OK. All right.
- 2:27Sorority Row. Sorority Row?
- 2:28Tell me about it. Released September 11th, 2009.
- 2:31We watched it on our DVD streaming on Pluto TV, Plex, The
- 2:35CW, YouTube Premium, Prime Premium or you can rent it from
- 2:39Google Player. Fandango at Home, written by
- 2:41Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, based on Mark
- 2:44Rosman's screenplay 7 Sisters, directed by Stuart Handler,
- 2:49music by Lucian Piane, who at this time was very involved in
- 2:53RuPaul's drug race. So it's a complicated history
- 2:57after that. But aren't isn't complicated
- 3:00history a lot of what we talk about around here?
- 3:02Yeah. Good or bad?
- 3:05Yeah, not not. Good.
- 3:06Doesn't sound good. OK, OK.
- 3:08Special effects makeup I I have Gino Crocknell listed as the
- 3:12consultant. There wasn't like an A specific
- 3:16special effects makeup artist listed or like a like there's a
- 3:19makeup department head, but I think that was more just like
- 3:22make up. Yeah.
- 3:24Oh, I was going to say this movie isn't exactly effect
- 3:26savvy, but then again, there are some pretty gnarly scenes.
- 3:29There are some pretty gnarly scenes, but when you think about
- 3:31it, it's more like because I, I looked that up before we watched
- 3:35the movie, so I was kind of paying more attention.
- 3:37And when you think about it, a lot of the stuff that you see is
- 3:41more implied than actually like shown.
- 3:44I think the gnarliest thing that we actually see is probably
- 3:48Claire's face. I keep thinking of Chug's stuff.
- 3:53Yeah, but when you see that, you're not really seeing a whole
- 3:56lot of things. I guess you're right.
- 3:59Yeah, they did a they did a good job implying violence.
- 4:02Yeah. You, you don't need to see the
- 4:04whole thing. You know what's happening.
- 4:05But I was very conscientious of it as we were watching it this
- 4:09time and I was like, oh, we're not actually seeing the gore
- 4:11straight on. That one made me cringe the most
- 4:14and I'll say that. For sure, yeah.
- 4:16Starring Brianna Evigen as Cassidy, Rumor Willis is Ellie,
- 4:20Margot Harshman as Chuggs, Jamie Chung as Claire, Leah Pipes as
- 4:24Jessica, Julia Morris as Andy and Carrie Fisher.
- 4:27May she rest in peace as Misses Crenshaw.
- 4:29Strovia. No Strovia.
- 4:31That's good to have her. I think this is the first time
- 4:33we found her on the show. Yeah.
- 4:35No Screen 3. Yep.
- 4:37Yep. I forgot about Scream 3.
- 4:37She had a brief cameo there at least.
- 4:39Yes. Time for her favorite.
- 4:41Game budget or bug Ted budget? Yes, very much so. 12.5 million
- 4:48OK Opening box office of worldwide gross of 27 million.
- 4:52OK, not bad. Current IMDb score 5.2 out of
- 4:5510. That sounds that's about where
- 4:59I'd peg it if I had to go based off of like what I thought other
- 5:02people thought of it. Granted, I discovered last night
- 5:04that last night that Spring Breakers only has a 5.3 out of
- 5:0710, so I guess there's no accounting for taste.
- 5:11Same deal I think. You know that guy in the row in
- 5:15front of us would have given it an 11 out of 10.
- 5:18We'll go on a brief tangent here, but Jesse, Jesse and I
- 5:21went to a 10:00 PM showing of Spring Breakers at the Kentucky
- 5:26Theatre. Yeah, they do a series called
- 5:27Freaky Fridays, and so we went to see Spring Breakers and this
- 5:32guy in front of us was tripping balls.
- 5:34Yeah, he was in the row right in front of us.
- 5:36He was by himself. And like, you know, at first
- 5:39your thought like I thought maybe a guy that's just having a
- 5:43really good time, but like as soon as the like the logo pops.
- 5:47Opening credit started and he lost his shit like he was.
- 5:51Starting to laugh. So hard when when Gucci Mane
- 5:56first appears he he looked like the Leonardo DiCaprio meme of
- 6:00like pointing at this. But it was more aggressive.
- 6:03Yeah, it was, it was so aggressive.
- 6:04It's. Kind of like the meme of that
- 6:06person on the other side of the table pointing at the cat.
- 6:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. And let's see what else
- 6:12happened. He he was very emotional when
- 6:15Selena Gomez's character said she wanted to come back to
- 6:18Kentucky. Yeah.
- 6:19And yeah, it is like James Franco.
- 6:21Yeah. No.
- 6:24And as soon as the end credits started, he just shot.
- 6:27Out of there, yeah. Yeah.
- 6:29Yeah. He went around on his next
- 6:31journey. Maybe he was an alien.
- 6:33Maybe he's like, Oh my God, this is my people.
- 6:34Yes. So yeah, so that was.
- 6:39I would need to share that. Yeah.
- 6:41This just been something that Jesse and I have been laughing
- 6:43about for about 12 hours. Now it's been amazing.
- 6:47OK. I've got 3 movies from 2009.
- 6:50OK what's the theme you you hyped it up as being dumb and I
- 6:53I love dumb clearly because I have no self.
- 6:56Movies in houses. Geez, how did you narrow it
- 7:03down? Well, the first one is House is
- 7:06the Devil. OK, fantastic.
- 7:11Movie that released April 25th, 2009 had a budget of $900,000 in
- 7:17a worldwide gross of 101,000. IMDb score 6.3 out of 10.
- 7:22That's kind of rude. Look, that is a slow, slow, slow
- 7:26movie. But to me, I feel like it
- 7:29doesn't, It doesn't go that slow.
- 7:31I'm engaged 100% of the time in that movie.
- 7:33It's it's a fantastic movie. Yeah, it is.
- 7:36It is an engaging movie. I think we were talking with one
- 7:39of our friends about it last week and just just watching her
- 7:43dance around the house, it's just, it's fun.
- 7:46Cuz you know, something's there. Yeah.
- 7:47Yeah, we, we'll talk about that at some point, probably soon.
- 7:51I love that movie. It's a great movie.
- 7:52OK, second movie. Yeah.
- 7:54Last house on the left. OK, the remake.
- 7:59Yeah. Yeah, it's Sarah.
- 8:00Jennifer Lawrence, right? No, that is the house at the end
- 8:03of the street. A different house, OK.
- 8:05Yeah, that was not 2009, unfortunately.
- 8:07You can see the confusion. Yeah, yes, yes that released
- 8:11March 13th, 2009. My dad's birthday.
- 8:14Budget of 15,000,000. Worldwide gross of 45,000,006.5
- 8:19out of 10 on IMDb. OK, this is the one that has
- 8:22Aaron Paul. We watched this.
- 8:24Yes, we definitely did watch this.
- 8:26I've actually never seen the West Craven original because
- 8:28I've heard it's even harder I and this this is already a
- 8:33pretty hard movie. To get through, I've watched it.
- 8:36There was a guy that had to write he was doing a paper on in
- 8:38my freshman year of college and then walked into his dorm room
- 8:42when he was watching it and it didn't.
- 8:45It didn't seem that bad. I didn't catch the whole thing
- 8:48but it's one of those movies that I could be misremembering
- 8:52it, but it has like weird like comical segments to it.
- 8:55Like with that, like like a cop and like a banjo play in.
- 8:58I do know that the banjo playing isn't that deliverance.
- 9:02It's like I it's part of the soundtrack.
- 9:05It's not diogenic. OK, Yeah, yeah, no, this is the
- 9:09movie that like, has one of the most notorious tag lines in all
- 9:13the film. Just keep repeating to yourself,
- 9:16it's only a movie. It's only a movie.
- 9:18That's really good, yeah. OK, final movie.
- 9:21Yeah, it doesn't have house in the title.
- 9:23I tried to find a third house. Maybe I couldn't.
- 9:26This one's The collector. OK.
- 9:28Yeah, that's a good one. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:31That released July 31st, 2009. Budget of $6 million, worldwide
- 9:36gross of $10 million and IMDb scores 6.3 out of 10.
- 9:42Man, love that movie. I listened to Marcus Stoneston
- 9:46do a podcast where he talked about it.
- 9:48Yeah, it sounded like it was a trip to make that they they had
- 9:52some shit going on behind the scenes and like that that series
- 9:55has just struggled. Yeah.
- 9:57They're the third is confirmed. Finally, it's happening.
- 10:00Final praise the Lord. Well, I'm looking forward to it.
- 10:04Yeah, me too. So.
- 10:06Well, I'm, you know, I I love how dumb that was.
- 10:08That was good house movies. Yeah.
- 10:10Thank you. Thank you.
- 10:13OK, tagline. Yeah, one on the poster.
- 10:16The sisters of Theta Pi are dying to keep a secret.
- 10:21That's not bad, that's not bad. That's pretty good.
- 10:24Sisters for life and death. OK.
- 10:29They share a killer secret. Nah.
- 10:34I felt like Tommy was Nah. They lost their friend because
- 10:41of a secret they would never tell.
- 10:42Now their past is coming back to kill them.
- 10:47That one's stupid. I agree this.
- 10:52I think this one's my favorite. It's all fun and games until
- 11:00someone gets stabbed with a tire iron.
- 11:02Whoa. I like.
- 11:06It. I like that one too.
- 11:07Yeah, that one's just dumb enough to work.
- 11:09Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's see the Sisters of Theta Π
- 11:13have a secret that just won't die.
- 11:16That's. Not bad.
- 11:17I like it. I like that it rhymes.
- 11:18That sounds like a sorority chant, yeah.
- 11:20Yeah, Theta Pi must die. It's not bad.
- 11:27That's it. Yeah.
- 11:27So that's it. Those are our tag lines.
- 11:29OK, not too bad. Yeah, honestly, like and it
- 11:32would have been really easy to go super generic with it.
- 11:35Yeah. I mean, well, some of these are
- 11:36kind of generic, really, but they're not bad, you know, it's
- 11:40whatever. I don't feel strongly either way
- 11:43about any of them. OK.
- 11:46I've got some fun facts. All righty, let's hear it.
- 11:49So there is an alternate ending and obviously a spoiler for the
- 11:51end, but in the original ending we see Rush the Fall one year
- 11:58after the event. So it's 15 months later and we
- 12:02cut to somebody on the groundskeeper.
- 12:04Like we just see their hands. The scar.
- 12:07The scar, which is from Garrett, the alternate ending is we just
- 12:11go to the query, query, query, query query is something
- 12:15different, different. Yeah, we cut to the quarry.
- 12:19Quarry. Quarry, Quarry.
- 12:22Come on man. Quarry.
- 12:26Quarry. Quarry Quarry like.
- 12:29Pretend there's AW there CWARY quarry, move on.
- 12:36We're we're going to get trapped here if we don't move past this.
- 12:39Anyway, we see him open his eyes.
- 12:43Yeah, but you know, I never made the connection that that was him
- 12:46in the real ending too. I thought.
- 12:48I thought it was Andy. No, no, because they made a
- 12:52point of showing that scar on the wrist.
- 12:54OK, OK. Wouldn't they recognize him as a
- 12:57gardener? Like, hey, aren't you like,
- 12:58Chugs his brother. Well, because the rest of them
- 13:03all graduated. The only one that's still there
- 13:05is Maggie. So she was.
- 13:07No, she wasn't a part of any of that.
- 13:10Well, she might recognize Maggie's boyfriend, but she also
- 13:13might not, depending on how serious they were.
- 13:15She'd been around. She'd seen her Megan's boyfriend
- 13:17as early as being 15 years old. That was three years difference.
- 13:23Yeah. Whatever, we're getting way too
- 13:26into it here. Yeah, let's move on.
- 13:28That's fine. OK, so Brianna had never worked
- 13:30with so many women on set, but she actually ended up having a
- 13:33really good time with this. But she was, she was kind of
- 13:35nervous about it so. Which one was Brianna again?
- 13:37Cassidy OK. Cassidy she gave me where she
- 13:40had a Jones vibes. I have great like something like
- 13:43her hair and her facial structure.
- 13:45Also the way she talks. Yeah, voice she.
- 13:47Was very Rashida Jones. Yes, so she's, I guess she was
- 13:50in one of the Step Up movies. So she's got like a lot of dance
- 13:53experience. She starts off the movie
- 13:54dancing, yes. Yes.
- 13:56Just probably her call it. Can I do like a dance?
- 13:58I'm feeling really nervous being around all these women.
- 14:01Leah Pipes, who played Jessica, she said that her character was
- 14:04really exhausting to play. She was like, you're just mean
- 14:06all the time. She's like, it takes a lot of of
- 14:08you. She's like, and also I have to
- 14:09disappoint all the male audience members out there because the
- 14:12boobs is all stuffing. She was like I I like had a full
- 14:15tree. Why would she do that?
- 14:16Why would you have to do that? Because they wanted to make her
- 14:18boobs look bigger. Well, that seems unnecessary.
- 14:21I. Don't think it was her call.
- 14:23OK, yeah, but maybe not I I know, I heard.
- 14:28I hear people love to play the villain though.
- 14:30People have fun doing that, I guess.
- 14:31She did I. Mean she didn't say it wasn't
- 14:33fun. She just said it was exhausting.
- 14:35Yeah, she's she doesn't normally play that type of character, is
- 14:38what she said. I get.
- 14:39I could see it. Yeah.
- 14:40It's like when we were playing that be mean game with friends.
- 14:43Yeah, it's hard to be mean to you.
- 14:44Friends. Yeah, it is.
- 14:45It really is. A lot of the cast, which this is
- 14:48something I didn't put together until they were like listing
- 14:50them, but there were so many deaths that involved like an
- 14:53instrument into the mouth. And they were kind of joking
- 14:56around that the writers must have like, an oral fixation.
- 14:58Yeah, you know, I never even thought of that, but yeah, I can
- 15:01see it. Rumor Willis is actually
- 15:03classically trained in opera. Really.
- 15:06Yeah. And she had a lot of fun doing
- 15:08the screaming. She could hit a lot of different
- 15:10pitches. And she said it was kind of fun
- 15:12that her character screams as much as she does.
- 15:15The shot at the old mine mining area was.
- 15:18I'm not going to try and say that word again, Quarry.
- 15:25Jesse is it really that tough quarry?
- 15:29Quarry. That's fine, just pretend you
- 15:32have an accent. I do have an accent.
- 15:34OK, then we're good. God damn it.
- 15:39Come on. It was freezing when they shot
- 15:41because they were obviously it was a nighttime shoot, but it
- 15:43was about 27° out there. Oh my God.
- 15:46And obviously because it was after the party or it was during
- 15:48the party when. She was like the pajama party.
- 15:50Yeah. They're all out there in
- 15:51lingerie. And Audrina Partridge, who plays
- 15:55Megan, that was her first day on set.
- 15:57Oh, God, yeah. So her very first scene, she had
- 15:59to shoot. She was just, like, laying on
- 16:00the cold ground the whole time. But they said she was a trooper,
- 16:03like she was just like, all right.
- 16:06I mean, that's like the entirety of her role, right?
- 16:08She's gone the entire rest of the movie.
- 16:10Yeah, they've got that scene. They've also got the scene in
- 16:12her dorm room or sorority. House.
- 16:14Oh yeah, that's right. OK.
- 16:16So Josh Stolberg and Evan Goldfinger wanted to kind of
- 16:20channel some old school slashers, and they made some
- 16:22comparisons to the show, Survivor and Evan Goldfinger
- 16:26said. You know, except instead of
- 16:27getting folded off the island, you have to show your boobs and
- 16:29then you're killed. I mean, that's like horror
- 16:31movie. Yeah, right there.
- 16:32Yeah, exactly. The use of the graduation gown
- 16:36was actually Goldfinger's older brothers idea.
- 16:39Because they couldn't figure out, like, what kind of outfit
- 16:45they were going to give them because they need something
- 16:46that, you know, is pretty standard but conceals the
- 16:50person's identity. And they were just kind of like,
- 16:53going back and forth. They're like, every killer has
- 16:55like, an iconic look. And I guess he was talking to
- 16:57his older brother on the phone. And his brother's like, doesn't
- 16:59this take place at graduation? He's like, yeah, he goes
- 17:02graduation gown. Yeah, it makes sense.
- 17:06But I would have had I had to be told that that was a graduation
- 17:10gown. I didn't know that.
- 17:11I thought it was a robe or a quoak.
- 17:14Here's the thing, and I was going to say this for my good,
- 17:17bad, ugly and absurd, but it it fits well.
- 17:21Now the hoods are for a masters level ceremony.
- 17:25Yeah, I was going to say the hoods doesn't seem like a normal
- 17:27thing. Yeah, that's not for, that's not
- 17:29for undergraduate. Yeah, that is a masters.
- 17:31Level, you get a cap, yeah, if you wanted to just do the cap, I
- 17:34feel like. Yeah, yeah.
- 17:36So, OK, let's see. They wanted the deaths of the
- 17:40characters to mirror their vices or the things that they've done
- 17:42wrong. The most obvious one being Chugs
- 17:46is chugging, though. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 17:48Chugged to death. You know, Jessica, she gets, you
- 17:51know, killed through the mouth, which was, you know, her problem
- 17:54is that she couldn't stop talking.
- 17:55Yeah. Claire goes out into the hot
- 17:57tub, and she's killed with a flare gun out there, and she's
- 17:59the one who put all the bubbles in the hot tub and overheated it
- 18:01in the first place. So they had very conscientious
- 18:05thoughts about that. And actually Chuck's death was,
- 18:07they said the least, changed from like conception to
- 18:10shooting. They didn't really tweak it at
- 18:12all. So they knew what they wanted to
- 18:14do with her right away. I wonder how much it changed
- 18:16with the others. I don't know.
- 18:18I wish they'd gone into it more. Yeah, like you say.
- 18:21OK. Other things changed.
- 18:22What were the changes? I want to know.
- 18:24That sounds interesting. And then finally they Stolberg
- 18:28and Goldfinger, that is they recognize how absurd the shower
- 18:32kill is cuz they're like, yeah no, it's a slashie, you gotta
- 18:34kill somebody in the shower. But like what?
- 18:36Nobody found her the whole time with that whole party.
- 18:39Never thought of it. Nobody found her.
- 18:41Never thought of. It I didn't either and then I
- 18:43was like, you know, cuz it's one of those kills I forget.
- 18:46It happens every time we watch it and then I'm like this random
- 18:49unnamed character killed cuz she overheard the thing and then we
- 18:53never come back to her ever. And in fact she gets replaced
- 18:57with Megan's decaying body leader, doesn't she?
- 18:59Or is that in the? That's a different shower that's
- 19:01in that different shower. Yeah.
- 19:02OK it done. Yeah, I don't know.
- 19:06Maybe they'd drop her down the chute we had like.
- 19:08The shoots and yeah, yeah, the one shoots, yeah.
- 19:12So I don't know, but those are my fun facts.
- 19:14OK, not too bad, but. Yeah, and it really did seem
- 19:17like the cast got along really, really well.
- 19:20They seem to be really close during the filming and.
- 19:23That's always good. Especially Cassidy and Cassidy
- 19:27and Ellie's characters Rumor and Brianna.
- 19:33They especially clicked really well right away, which is good
- 19:36considering the arcs that their characters go through.
- 19:38Yeah, it makes sense. She's kind of like a mother to
- 19:40Ellie. Yeah.
- 19:42OK. So that brings us to our
- 19:45favorite thing. Good, bad, ugly, and.
- 19:47Absurd, bad, ugly, and absurd. OK, let's do this.
- 19:53OK can I ask this is a remake right?
- 19:58I think it's meant to be kind of a loose remake of The House on
- 20:01Sorority Row. That's what I thought too, but
- 20:03then I see the things like based off of novel when we were
- 20:08getting the opening credits and then you said it was based off
- 20:10of a screenplay. Yes.
- 20:12And neither of them were the things that I thought.
- 20:14I'd always thought it was a house on Sorority Row remake
- 20:17too, but I guess not. I don't know, I'm only seen I've
- 20:23seen house on sorority row but like only halfway paying
- 20:26attention. So it's way.
- 20:27Different. Yeah.
- 20:28I mean, it's similar in a way because of like it's a very
- 20:31similar type of story, but I think it's handled a bit
- 20:34differently. Yeah.
- 20:36I feel like this one kind of plays more into terror train
- 20:41more than this because it's like the same deal.
- 20:45It's like a sex thing gone wrong.
- 20:47And then I go, we actually killed it, killed a person, and
- 20:50now we have to, you know, pretend like it didn't happen.
- 20:53Yeah. Oh well, either way the I like
- 20:56the this movie. It has the 2000 slasher charm to
- 21:00it. I don't know what it is like.
- 21:02We're we're now separated enough to where I feel like it.
- 21:05It has a very distinct feel, much like 80s and 90s movies do.
- 21:09Yeah. And this one leans very heavily
- 21:11into it, and I like that. Yeah, the thing with the 2000s
- 21:14horror movies is they're going to be chock full of cliches and
- 21:18hypersexual. Yeah, Which, you know, was also
- 21:21kind of a thing of the 80s, Yeah, 2000s.
- 21:24I feel like maybe like it's just some movies.
- 21:27Some movies go hard like it was more like a it was a pick your
- 21:31lane type thing in the 2000. Like you can go like safer route
- 21:34and not really do that or you can go hard and lean hard into
- 21:37that aspect of it. And this one kind of went that
- 21:40direction kind of yeah, in the middle.
- 21:43But I just looking at it through the lens, if it is a remake, I
- 21:47feel like it did tell a very different story from the
- 21:50original 1 because it is it's like a different approach.
- 21:54And I, you know, like instead of like killing the house mother,
- 21:58it's killing a sister. And I don't know, they just
- 22:01like, they they shook it up enough.
- 22:03Yeah. But then again, I don't know.
- 22:05That's like a valid point in its credit.
- 22:08Either way. It nailed the Greek wife, like
- 22:11the college life aspect of it and remind me a lot of when we
- 22:16were in college. Jesse and I were both in Greek
- 22:18life too. So we kind of have some point to
- 22:23kind of relate to with some of these characters here.
- 22:26And I don't know, I I think the the tire iron is a unique
- 22:29weapon. Yeah.
- 22:31That's, that's one thing that they did that allowed it to
- 22:34stand apart from other people. It's not just a knife, you know,
- 22:37It's something unique to the character and.
- 22:40And it's very intentional because it is like a pimped out
- 22:42tire iron, as they keep saying, like both behind the scenes and
- 22:45in the movie. Yeah, it's got like knives and
- 22:48all kinds of weird shit. It's got a spoon, I think.
- 22:50It's a Swiss Army tire iron. Yeah, it kind of is, isn't it?
- 22:54But I mean, yeah, that's really a lot of the good stuff I have
- 22:57to say about it. I don't know.
- 22:58There's just just one of those movies that just kind of hits.
- 23:01I yeah, I something about this movie.
- 23:03I don't think it's necessarily groundbreaking and I don't think
- 23:07the characters are especially compelling, but the way they're
- 23:10portrayed on screen is interesting.
- 23:13You know what I mean? The the cast all has some very
- 23:15obvious talent and it keeps the pace up enough that it keeps you
- 23:20interested in it. I think that it it utilizes
- 23:24cliches, but it doesn't. It does it in an interesting
- 23:28enough way, you know what I mean?
- 23:31I mean it sticks to the formula and doesn't and never really
- 23:34varies from it. I think really the part where it
- 23:37does that is like it throws you off at the end with the killer
- 23:40reveal. Yes.
- 23:42That's probably the one part where it really kind of goes off
- 23:44course, but everything else like it follows the rules in the map
- 23:48to AT. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 23:51I like if I want a slasher and I want that formula, that's for
- 23:55me. You know, I I'm gonna watch a
- 23:58movie like this or like a classic slasher.
- 24:00This is an easily digestible horror movie.
- 24:02Yeah, exactly. It's a fun one.
- 24:04Yeah, it's a fun one. It's not one you have to think
- 24:06about. It's when you put on to have
- 24:07like enjoy yourself. Exactly.
- 24:09Which is like, that's not a knock.
- 24:11I'm not calling it necessarily low brow, but like you need to
- 24:14have those kinds of movies. They're still fun.
- 24:16Yeah, I mean, it's not like Master Quest cinema or anything.
- 24:19But it's a, it's a good time, yeah.
- 24:21And I think it it, it is something to use those cliches
- 24:26and the tropes and everything and use them in a way that they
- 24:29feel familiar but also still interesting.
- 24:31Yeah, for. Sure.
- 24:32And I think that's, I think there's really good credit to
- 24:36that for for everybody involved with it.
- 24:38I think that the kills are somewhat unique.
- 24:43I mean, we've got a few that are just like, OK, tie your iron to
- 24:45the neck or mouth. But there are a couple of other
- 24:49like with the flare gun and yeah, trucks is wine bottle.
- 24:53So I think that's interesting. And then the final set piece
- 24:57like cuz the house itself is very large.
- 25:01So there's a lot of like cavernous hallways and stuff
- 25:05that you have to run through and ways for the killer to pop up
- 25:08and catch you. And then we've got a whole wing
- 25:10that's under construction. Yeah.
- 25:12And then you add in the element of the fire, which somehow makes
- 25:15this giant house feel very claustrophobic.
- 25:17They ever explain where the fire came from.
- 25:19Yes, he threw a Molotov cocktail at Maggie.
- 25:22OK, Yeah, yeah, it didn't hit her.
- 25:24It hit the curtain. OK.
- 25:26Yeah, that's right. OK.
- 25:27Yeah, what are your bad? I guess this one I kind of got
- 25:31the answer to, but it was weird for me.
- 25:33I was like, why is the killer killing people not involved in
- 25:36the murder? But then I realized it's just
- 25:37people who know about it. But yeah, that was just one
- 25:41thing I was questioning. I feel like.
- 25:45What's her name? Ellie's actor.
- 25:47Rumor Willis. Rumor Willis.
- 25:49I don't think she's a good actor.
- 25:52She didn't really do a great job in this movie, if you ask me.
- 25:55She did the screaming fine, like an opera signature, but she
- 25:58just, I don't think she did, gave a very strong performance.
- 26:01I think she's just a very meek character and those are
- 26:06exhausting characters to watch. It's.
- 26:09Just any time she delivered like a normal line of dialogue too.
- 26:12It's just, I don't know, I just didn't really think that she did
- 26:14a good job. I disagree, but that's fair,
- 26:18yeah. And I guess the other thing is I
- 26:21feel like this movie could have worked better as like a
- 26:25whodunit. This whole time they're like,
- 26:28oh, it's Megan, Megan, Megan, Megan.
- 26:30But I think it would have been better to like.
- 26:33Draw out the mystery a little. Bit draw out the mystery and
- 26:35give more red herrings because really, they're just so certain
- 26:40it's Megan the entire time. Yeah.
- 26:42And that that works for some movies.
- 26:44It could be like, you know, I know what you did last summer.
- 26:46What do you think? It's a fisherman.
- 26:48It is the fisherman in this case.
- 26:50I don't know, I feel like this one had a better set up for a
- 26:53whodunit. Well, and also, I think finding
- 26:56out that everybody besides Cassidy had told somebody else
- 27:00about the murder, like, yeah, instead of saving that for the
- 27:04final act, like trickling that out throughout the movie is so
- 27:07much more interesting because. Cassidy, Yeah.
- 27:11Because Cassidy already doesn't trust him.
- 27:12Give her more reason not to trust him.
- 27:15Give us more people to suspect. Yeah, that's once we know that
- 27:19Lee or Jessica's boyfriend knows about all of this and he's got a
- 27:23senator. Dad.
- 27:24Yeah, that makes so much sense. To immediate red herrings,
- 27:27right? Yeah, yeah.
- 27:28So I think if they had like sprinkled those in a little bit,
- 27:31it would have been nice. Yeah, that, I mean, that's just
- 27:34like AI, like the way that it works now, but that's like a a
- 27:38punch up suggestion right there. It would have really enhanced
- 27:40the movie for me. All right, what's your bad
- 27:44stuff? The characters are very
- 27:48one-dimensional. Yeah, I like.
- 27:51I think this is just that kind of movie.
- 27:52Though I know it's that kind of movie, but you know, if we're
- 27:55using the trope like we're trying to make the tropes
- 27:58interesting, I think we need to give the characters a little bit
- 28:00more, you know what I mean? I guess that's true.
- 28:02Yeah, like, and I know that the the writing team is good enough
- 28:05to do that while also sticking to their beloved boobs and gore.
- 28:10Stolberg and. We've seen that finger, yeah,
- 28:13we've seen them do that in other movies like Piranha 3D.
- 28:16Those are decently fleshed out characters.
- 28:18That's a smart movie. Yeah.
- 28:19We're being we're doing dumb fun, but like in.
- 28:22A small way, yeah. Yeah, it's really good so.
- 28:24We know they can do that. Saw X Yeah.
- 28:29So it just, I don't know, it's just kind of a bummer that this
- 28:32is such a strong movie, but then the characters fall so flat.
- 28:35If it if it was worse, actors like this would be relegated
- 28:39firmly to like, see horror. You know what I mean?
- 28:41It'd be like not even be horror, like it'd just be way down
- 28:44there. Yeah, yeah.
- 28:45Forgot. It would be something we would
- 28:46talk about on TV or not to be. Yeah, OK.
- 28:49Also, Julian Morris, much like Russell Crowe before him, cannot
- 28:55stick to an accent. Yep, I knew that.
- 28:57At the end, maybe it's just because he's like fully embraced
- 29:01his bad guyness. He just like, all right, I'm
- 29:03British again. He's he slips in and out of it
- 29:07is the thing He's there's no consistency at the.
- 29:09End. He fully gives up on an on an.
- 29:11American accent. He he kind of still tries every
- 29:15now and then. There are some shots where he
- 29:16goes hard because he does like the dark R like English people
- 29:20usually like, they kind of like lay off that R you know what I
- 29:24mean? That was the instruction that
- 29:26was given in boys choir when we had to sing Oliver Twist.
- 29:28OK, yeah. Not consider.
- 29:31As good. Yeah, I did.
- 29:33I don't. See how you feel, how dark that
- 29:34was. I also did that as.
- 29:37A solo. Yeah, that was the instruction
- 29:40that our director gave us like don't say are really drilled
- 29:43that in me shaped me as a child and as a human being to the
- 29:47stick here. You are 1520 years later.
- 29:50Alrighty. Ugly.
- 29:52Yes, ugly. Well, they suck, all of them.
- 30:00They're all just shitty, shitty people.
- 30:02Except for Cassidy. She's not innocent.
- 30:06She's not innocent. She could have gone to the cops.
- 30:08Exactly. Honestly, yeah.
- 30:09She just didn't want it all to be pinned on her.
- 30:12But she's like the best of the batch, which I guess is kind of
- 30:16telling, you know what I mean? And also, the therapist sucks.
- 30:21Dude. That guy is a fucking dirtbag.
- 30:25So Chuck, this whole character is so tragic to me because she's
- 30:29hypersexual and obviously like has some addiction issues.
- 30:32I think she's full blown nymphomaniac.
- 30:35I don't even think it's that. I think it's that every single
- 30:38line, every single scene involves her discussing sex or
- 30:42having sex. She's got a very flat affect
- 30:45with the way she talks. I think she's just trying to
- 30:47mask some shit with hypersexuality and substance
- 30:52use. Could be there could be
- 30:53something dark. Under there, Yeah, and the fact
- 30:56that her therapist is so willingly taking advantage of
- 31:01her and other other clients as well is so fucked up.
- 31:04Yeah, that was that was gonna be my ugly as.
- 31:07Well, yeah, that guy's fucking shit bag.
- 31:09Yep. All right, so I guess we're just
- 31:11moving to absurd. We are.
- 31:13Well, I thought it was really an interesting thought for them to
- 31:19like, their plan was to dismember the body with sharp
- 31:22rocks and Garrett just falls for it.
- 31:24He's like, OK, yeah, yeah, that's what we'll do.
- 31:28Ellie's constant state of freak out, she is just at 10 with the
- 31:32freak out non-stop all the time. And it's it gets to the point
- 31:35where it's comical where like they'll hear her yelling in the
- 31:38hallway like, Oh my God, there goes I like I'll go get her this
- 31:42time or whatever. Like it.
- 31:43It's just kind of funny. But yeah, those are my absurd
- 31:47moments with us. I'm trying to.
- 31:50I made a note to myself and I'm trying to find it, but I don't
- 31:57see it. I'm sure I will remember it as
- 31:59we talk through. But yeah, also like the fact
- 32:04that they were they had some factual things wrong, like the
- 32:07graduation gown. Also, maybe maybe it's because
- 32:12we went to a small school. We were part of a smaller Greek
- 32:15life system, a less affluent Greek life system.
- 32:19I think we. Didn't have.
- 32:20We didn't even have, like, Greek houses.
- 32:22Yeah, we had like we shared a dorm.
- 32:24Yes, or a. Hall or building?
- 32:26So I don't know if this is common practice, but the fact
- 32:29that they have wristbands for all their parties.
- 32:32Yeah, that doesn't track. And who is checking the
- 32:34wristbands? You know what I mean?
- 32:36Yeah, it's well. We didn't see security at the
- 32:38door. No, from my experience, we did
- 32:42assign door people from like our end of things.
- 32:46So we did have people like actually check people at the
- 32:48door. As somebody who probably went to
- 32:50more of your fraternities parties than you adore people
- 32:55sucks. There was never a person that
- 32:58was like. You are speaking purely from a
- 33:00female perspective, which that is always, no matter what, 100%
- 33:04entry. From the male perspective, you
- 33:06get denied hard a lot. So yeah, you had a completely
- 33:11different experience than like a completely different demographic
- 33:14than you. OK.
- 33:16All righty, so we ready to read. We are ready.
- 33:20I I have fun with this movie and I like watching.
- 33:24It's a good one to just throw one every now and then.
- 33:26I'm gonna give it a 7. Oh my God, babe, that's also
- 33:29gonna. Give it a seven.
- 33:30Hey, OK, they're the same. Reasons.
- 33:32It's just it's, it's not breaking new ground, but it's
- 33:37just fucking fun. It's just it's one of those
- 33:39times we're like, I'm in a mood for that kind of movie.
- 33:41It's a perfect movie to throw. On it is the definition of a
- 33:44known quantity, you know. You know what you're getting?
- 33:47Yeah, Yes. OK.
- 33:48All right. So 7. 7.
- 33:51OK, let's do this. Yeah, so.
- 33:55We start off at a Theta Pi house party featuring pillow fights,
- 33:59hazing, dancing, horny and angry frat guys, a drunken house
- 34:04mother and our core group of women.
- 34:07Claire chugs Ellie, Jessica and Cassidy, toasting to their
- 34:12senior year with very passive aggressive complements of one
- 34:15another. It's a toast roast.
- 34:17Yeah, Oh. Yeah, I thought that that was
- 34:20the whole point of it. Yeah, right.
- 34:22That's what they're doing, right?
- 34:22They're like toasting and they're also like trying to
- 34:24roast each other. No, I think they're just kind of
- 34:26itchy. I thought it was like that
- 34:27point, like OK. There's a fine line because like
- 34:32that's that's how I show love is with gentle.
- 34:36Yeah, you know, shooting, poking of the fun, Yeah, but.
- 34:40I gently make you feel bad about yourself.
- 34:42I hope I don't make people feel bad about themselves.
- 34:44No, I'm kidding. I just.
- 34:45I'm making you feel bad about. Yourself.
- 34:46Yeah, that's all roast, no toast.
- 34:50But like, I don't know. Jessica takes it a step farther.
- 34:53Like she's somebody that you would never feel solid in your
- 34:55friendship with. No man fuck her.
- 34:58I would never want to be friends with a person like her.
- 35:00She is such an asshole. Although I do like the phrase
- 35:04spell check with a great rack. Spell check with a great rack.
- 35:08Yeah. Who?
- 35:09Who'd she say that about? Ellie Yes.
- 35:13She made it very clear that the only reason she keeps Ellie
- 35:15around is because she's smart and also doesn't work.
- 35:18I mean, they make her do homework because I don't think
- 35:20she's, like, willingly like, Oh yeah, I'll do your paper for you
- 35:22all. Right.
- 35:25So, but they're like, wait, where's Megan?
- 35:26And they're like, well, hold on. So they pull up the laptop,
- 35:30there's a camera showing her and Garrett making out.
- 35:32Now they're confused by this because they knew that Garrett
- 35:35had cheated on her, but she took him back.
- 35:38And that's when we reveal that he was given some roofies to
- 35:42make the makeup sex a little bit easier for him, which, EW.
- 35:46You know what's also weird? What the fuck?
- 35:48How OK Chugs is with all this? Not only that, she's like, well,
- 35:51roofie sex is not that bad. You get sex and then you also
- 35:54get good sleep. But then she's also, like,
- 35:55comfortably talking about her brother's sex life.
- 35:58Yeah, it's. My brother, I know he's a good
- 36:00fucker. Like what the fuck are you
- 36:01talking about dude? Yeah, that's that is.
- 36:03So weird. She's got some dark shit.
- 36:05I mean, that family has a dark past.
- 36:08If she had a decent therapist, like she wouldn't have to do sex
- 36:12for drugs. Like she could just buy them.
- 36:15Yeah. The therapist would just be
- 36:16like, yeah, no, you need some. Shit, Yeah, yeah.
- 36:19Do it like the rest of the people out there.
- 36:22Yeah, get your get your trauma drugs, honestly, yeah, child.
- 36:27So they are watching the webcam that is staged there and Megan
- 36:32throws up mid make out and Gary starts to freak out.
- 36:35He runs out the room. The girls also walk out the room
- 36:38at the same time and then he's like Oh my gosh she's freaking
- 36:40the fuck out. Can you guys help me please?
- 36:42Yeah, so she's like, go get the Escalade.
- 36:44And they go in and it's revealed that Megan was faking it.
- 36:49She was actually just given some B12 vitamins, and they're trying
- 36:54to fuck with Garrett for cheating on her.
- 36:56And they're like, chugs, you're OK with this?
- 36:58She goes, yeah, my brother that thought he was roofing his
- 37:02girlfriend. Yeah.
- 37:02I think he deserves to have a prank done on him.
- 37:05Yeah, she's a very weird character.
- 37:10Again, she needed, she needed a qualified therapist.
- 37:13Yeah, she really did. I didn't think on the show that
- 37:15I would ever find a therapist that I like less than Doctor
- 37:18Loomis, but. Oh come on, Doctor Loomis is at
- 37:21least fun though. This guy is not fun.
- 37:23This is just shit. He's just shit.
- 37:25Shit, shit. So they're driving her and
- 37:31they're struggling not to break in.
- 37:33The whole ride out there, they're like, he's freaking out
- 37:36and it's funny. So they get to the to an
- 37:39abandoned mine shaft and they're like, OK, we've got to figure
- 37:43out what to do. We we have to dump the body.
- 37:46But if there's air in the lungs, she'll float back up.
- 37:49So we've got to split up, look for sharp rocks to dismember her
- 37:52with. And one of them asks Jessica how
- 37:55long this is going to keep going, 'cause, you know, hasn't
- 37:58the joke played out? Isn't it funny?
- 37:59She goes, yeah, and that's why we're doing it, because it's
- 38:02funny. There's something else going on
- 38:04there, too. Yeah, they also have set up a
- 38:07cell phone to record this whole thing.
- 38:10Yes, and they've got a recording now, so they're all digging
- 38:13around for rocks. Meanwhile, Garrett has went to
- 38:15the trunk of the car, digs out a tire iron, goes over there and
- 38:20punctures her lungs. Yeah, I did.
- 38:23I did it. She's got a sneak.
- 38:24Straight through the she's so. Proud of them.
- 38:27So even while she's just vomiting, boy, he's like, I did
- 38:29it guys, I did it. Yeah, so she actually really
- 38:33dies this time. And now they're really freaking
- 38:35out about what to do. And Jessica's like, listen, it's
- 38:38not fair to our families and friends for them to be marred by
- 38:45our mistakes, you know? And if it was me, if I had just
- 38:49been murdered with a tire iron, I would want to make sure that
- 38:53you guys were able to continue living the lives you deserve.
- 38:56I would if I were to die. Personally I would love for it
- 39:00to be a cold case that goes unsolved and my family never get
- 39:03closure. If I die and I'm not on an
- 39:06episode of case File, what was the fucking point?
- 39:08Yeah, what was this all for then?
- 39:10What? What?
- 39:12Why? You know what I mean?
- 39:13Yeah. Anyways, they then decide, well
- 39:18I guess fuck, we'll dump it down this well over here.
- 39:21The Cassie says no, no, no, no, no.
- 39:24We we need to call the cops. We'll explain that it's an
- 39:27accident. And they're like, no, we all
- 39:30agree that we're doing this. They're like, Jessica has
- 39:32manipulated everybody else because Claire's dad is
- 39:35medically fragile. Ellie's there on scholarship,
- 39:39Chugs and her brother would both be going down.
- 39:42I like how the entire time, like Garrett's going to jail, yeah,
- 39:45no matter what. Yeah, Garrett, no matter matter
- 39:47what he's. Going to jail, Yeah, he's he's
- 39:49fucked. He's done.
- 39:50He roofied her. OK.
- 39:51Like that's all. That's always going to be part
- 39:53of the story. So Cassidy decides that she's
- 39:56going to try and walk away and get signal so she can call the
- 39:58cops. And when she doesn't get signal,
- 40:01she comes back and they're like, listen, we thought about it and
- 40:05we want to support you even after what you've done to Megan.
- 40:08And she's like. What the fuck?
- 40:09And we're like, yeah, no, we all saw you kill her.
- 40:12And so basically she is being blackmailed to go along with the
- 40:16plan of wrapping her up in a jacket and dropping her down to
- 40:18my Jeff, which they did while she was walking.
- 40:20Yeah, but it's her jacket that she's wrapped up in, so her.
- 40:24Her. Evidence is there.
- 40:26Houndstooth Ricky pattern, right?
- 40:28There, that was very popular around this time.
- 40:31Yeah, I can. I remember the phase.
- 40:33I I had a houndstooth jacket so. Yeah.
- 40:35OK, there you. Go.
- 40:36There we go, eight months later, graduation, and Julian Morris is
- 40:42giving a quasi American English valedictorian speech.
- 40:46Yeah, he just kind of pops up here.
- 40:49This is we talked about him once more before Wolf.
- 40:51His American accent is probably about as strong as my English
- 40:56accent, you know what I mean? I just, I don't understand why
- 40:59he needed to be American. He was an English.
- 41:01English crywolf. Yeah, I mean interchangeable.
- 41:04Students are a thing. Yeah, it happens all the time.
- 41:06Yeah, just let him. Let him be him.
- 41:09Let him live in a realm that he's clearly more comfortable
- 41:12in. I mean, he's gonna be English
- 41:14regardless. Yeah.
- 41:15Deal with. It his name is Julian.
- 41:18I mean, come on. Yeah, so I know some American
- 41:22Julian. 'S I don't OK, I don't, I don't.
- 41:28So they they're like celebrating post graduation.
- 41:32Jess and Cassidy share a very cold look again.
- 41:35Well, no, Cassidy's just staring daggers at her.
- 41:37And Jessica, just like, gives her like a little test.
- 41:40Me in the corner. So he kept the Cassidy.
- 41:43She's in bed with Andy and they are just like talking about
- 41:48doing dinner together as parents and stuff like that.
- 41:51Yeah, she's got to go to her graduate celebration brunch with
- 41:56at the Theta Pi house. Her mom is a legacy.
- 42:00Yeah, she's she's a legacy member.
- 42:03So her mom was a sister there. So she wants to see the house so
- 42:06she can't really get out of it. But after that they're going to
- 42:08go to Andy's parents house, like their summer house, and just
- 42:14hanging out there for a while, separate bedrooms, which is kind
- 42:17of lame. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:18Especially after you've graduated college.
- 42:20Yeah, Yeah. I mean, come on.
- 42:22Yeah, so Jessica is a passive aggressive to Cassidy as she's
- 42:27coming in and Ellie is very avoidant.
- 42:30Chuggs is praying on freshmen, this little incoming freshman.
- 42:38So you taste like vomit. She goes yeah that's cuz I threw
- 42:40out but I ate a mint so you're fine.
- 42:42Yeah. And then she's being, she's
- 42:44being very like, oh, come warm me up over here.
- 42:47And he said. This is getting weird for me.
- 42:50Yeah. So there's a speech they make
- 42:54like a kind of toaster immemorium or whatever to Megan
- 42:59and then. Ellie looks out there and then
- 43:02she sees what she believes to be Megan walking through the crowd
- 43:05and she freaks out and screams and you know she has her pad to
- 43:09freak out moment. And it's Megan's sister, Maggie.
- 43:12They're not. They don't look that much alike.
- 43:16At all. They don't look anything alike.
- 43:18I could see if they had the actress playing both characters.
- 43:22Kind of like a Duke bro party massacre where yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 43:26like twin brother coming to save the day.
- 43:28Yeah, the twin sister, she's just a lot Dumber.
- 43:30So it took her four years to get to school.
- 43:32Now I. Want to watch Duke bro party
- 43:34massacre we. Can do that after we rearrange
- 43:36the living. Room.
- 43:36OK, let's do that. OK, it'll be our reward to
- 43:39ourselves. Yeah, OK.
- 43:42All right. So they Maggie's like, yeah, I'm
- 43:44planning on rushing the sorority next year.
- 43:47And are you guys, are you guys having a party?
- 43:50Yeah, Check another party. You're gonna come to the party.
- 43:51Jessica's like, yes, absolutely you should.
- 43:53But if you're rushing, then you really can't.
- 43:56That's actually true, yeah. When she comes back later, she's
- 43:58like, I checked and that's not against rush rules.
- 44:00IT recruitment, yeah. You're not supposed to actually
- 44:03be doing stuff like that. With PNMS it could be like a
- 44:06school by school basis type thing.
- 44:08Yeah, but a lot of schools are following national panel and IT
- 44:11council like guidelines for recruitment.
- 44:14It's not even supposed to be called rush.
- 44:15Like that's a very informal thing.
- 44:17Oh really? Yeah, OK.
- 44:18It's recruitment. Whatever it's it's all fucking
- 44:22bullshit. In you I know I'm just I'm just
- 44:24saying cuz they're like the hazing shit was atrocious and
- 44:30the stuff that still goes on is atrocious and at least nationals
- 44:34are trying to make things a little.
- 44:35Yeah, I get it, I get it, I get it.
- 44:38All right, So they all get a text with a picture of the
- 44:42attire and guessing now calls Andy.
- 44:46She's like, well, there's some shit going on in my life.
- 44:48You don't know about me. I promise I'm going to tell you
- 44:51everything later tonight. But for now, just you know.
- 44:54Yeah. I got deal with some shit.
- 44:56So The thing is with the outgoing seniors, they all get
- 44:59the house to themselves on their last night.
- 45:01So there's like a big blowout party that's going to be
- 45:03happening. Cassidy's not planning on going
- 45:05and Jessica's like, well, it's suspicious if you don't,
- 45:07especially now that we've gotten this tire iron picture.
- 45:10So she's got to make an appearance.
- 45:14Chuggs is going to her therapist to get some more oxy cotton and
- 45:18or oxycodone. I don't, I don't know, whatever
- 45:20Oxy. Oxy Yeah, that's all you got to
- 45:22say. Yeah, that's all you got to say.
- 45:23And Ellie, of course, is like in charge of getting the
- 45:26underclassmen to clean the house.
- 45:29Yeah, I mean, and also Ellie also, she's like a graduating
- 45:33senior, like you're still getting pledge duties.
- 45:35Yeah, exactly. Miss Crenshaw says goodbye to
- 45:40the outgoing seniors and gives them all chain bracelets.
- 45:42They're so fucking rude to her. Like, oh, thanks.
- 45:47Like the. Oh, my God.
- 45:48And she even has sweet meaning. It's like, it's 22 lane for each
- 45:52of your sisters. Yeah.
- 45:53And they're like, oh. Cool.
- 45:55The strength of sisterhood will. Hold you together.
- 45:58Yeah, yeah, they're, they're fucking assholes.
- 46:02Yeah, that's, I mean, yeah, these these ladies suck.
- 46:06So Claire's boyfriend Mickey comes to the house and she's in
- 46:10the hot tub and she's like one last time.
- 46:11He goes, dude, there's people all around.
- 46:13So she just pours in a bunch of extra bubbles.
- 46:15It was very hot, yeah. Yeah, oh, there is my absurd the
- 46:20Doctor's giant fucking door. Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
- 46:26What the fuck is that thing? It's a giant.
- 46:28I've never noticed. It a trench coat.
- 46:30Oh my God. Never in my last have I ever
- 46:32noticed that until you pointed that out last night and I was
- 46:34like what the fuck that is so. And I know they do make doors
- 46:37like that but they're on a special rotating thing and I
- 46:41only know this because a coworker was like I really want
- 46:43one of these doors someday and she showed it to me and I was
- 46:45like but why though? It's the opposite of my thing
- 46:48with tiny doors and giant doors. I feel like I would be so
- 46:53intimidated, but it's kind of a similar concept to how I'm
- 46:56afraid of rotating doors, the circular doors, yeah, cuz they
- 47:00can go out of control so easily. And I feel like a giant door
- 47:02like that could also go out of control very easily.
- 47:05I just. Can't trust that.
- 47:06Yeah, I don't. I don't trust.
- 47:08Something about it give it weird vibes.
- 47:10Yeah. Yeah, so Chuggs is walking into
- 47:13her therapist, and another red flag is that it's at his house.
- 47:18Yeah, which is also kind of shitty, which we kind of covered
- 47:20this in Scream 6 because that was also weird there too.
- 47:24It just it it very much blurs a line.
- 47:26Yeah, it does, which is. Personal and professional.
- 47:29Yeah, it shouldn't be anything like that.
- 47:30But anyway, she's there. She can't find him.
- 47:33She walks into his bedroom and he has been handcuffed to the
- 47:36bed. He has been left there.
- 47:38His previous appointment just got up and left probably.
- 47:40Because she was liked out. Probably because.
- 47:42Probably robbed him and got the fuck.
- 47:44Out of there, good for her. Yeah, I hope she did.
- 47:46And he's like, but maybe we can finish what we started.
- 47:51I just got a big sample pack and I have all kinds of
- 47:55prescriptions. And so she goes to freshen up
- 48:01and this is where I feel really sad for her because she just
- 48:03goes cheer slut and she sounds so sad.
- 48:06Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 48:08You know, it. It is weird.
- 48:10I know. I don't know.
- 48:11I feel like she, like, enjoys it.
- 48:13It's probably something that she enjoys herself, but.
- 48:15She doesn't seem happy. I think she's doing, she's not
- 48:18wanting to do this when she's only doing it purely for the
- 48:21medicine. But any other time that she has
- 48:23sex, I think it's because she wants to.
- 48:25I hope so, and I don't think women should be shamed for
- 48:28embracing their sexuality. No, there's something wrong.
- 48:31I think it's very much supposed to be like, hey, this is like
- 48:34the normal dude trope of like him being very, very sex
- 48:36focused. This is now the woman that's
- 48:38being very sex focused. And like, I think that that's
- 48:41really all it's supposed to be trying to do.
- 48:43She just seems sad. To me, we may be reading a
- 48:45little bit too much into it maybe.
- 48:47I really think it's just like they're trying to do a sex
- 48:49positive character. New Borderline.
- 48:51This is not the maniac. This is the throwing in this
- 48:55Doctor storyline though. Kind of ruins that intention.
- 48:59Kind of does, yeah, 'cause it implies like, hey, I've got shit
- 49:01that I need to go through. But then again, is she doing
- 49:03this purely for the medicine? Does she even need therapy?
- 49:06Is this like a hook up? Like, well, if I want therapy I
- 49:09am. Of the opinion that every single
- 49:11person in this world could benefit from going to therapy.
- 49:13OK, but that that's very much different than somebody who's
- 49:16went through a very traumatic event compared to somebody that
- 49:19just needs therapy. Just so like, you know, you know
- 49:21what I'm saying? She's doing it for like the the
- 49:23medicine rather than the therapeutic.
- 49:25Yes, but the fact that she like is so like hooked on these
- 49:30substances is also something to consider.
- 49:32To it's true, yeah, I don't know.
- 49:34But then again, college people party on pills all the time.
- 49:36But you know what else? What?
- 49:38The doctor gets a tire iron through his person and he dies?
- 49:42I hope it was the spoon part that went through.
- 49:43Yeah, yeah, fuck that guy. Yeah, cuz I mean this about that
- 49:47just feels like it would it would hurt more.
- 49:50And then chugs, walks back. She doesn't see him on the floor
- 49:55bleeding out. She just sees that the bed's
- 49:57empty. So she wanders around.
- 49:58She keeps drinking this wine and she lays down on the couch and
- 50:01then all of a sudden boom bottle shove down her throat and then
- 50:05the neck of the bottle is broken inside of her throat.
- 50:07God, yeah, that one that gets me.
- 50:12We cut to Jessica. She is supposed to be meeting
- 50:14her boyfriend Kyle and his dad, the senator, Senator Tyson he,
- 50:19but Kyle's running late. So the senator is like, I can't
- 50:22tell if you're a good time girl or a long time partner, which
- 50:28he's like, I've got a vice president nod.
- 50:30Maybe. Maybe.
- 50:32Yeah, he he's looking a little bit too far in the future.
- 50:35He's like, I don't like surprises.
- 50:37If there's anything I need to be aware of, please tell me now
- 50:41that's. Makes her very nervous.
- 50:43Yeah. And then the boyfriend comes and
- 50:45says, oh, I'm sorry, I'm away my bike.
- 50:48All I can think of is Legally Blonde where Warner breaks up
- 50:52with Elle because she's too blonde.
- 50:55Like I need a Jackie, not of Marilyn.
- 50:57Yeah, yeah, I, I, I honestly saw that happening here.
- 51:01I thought that that was the direction I would have wimp, but
- 51:04no. I would have loved it.
- 51:05I would have loved it. She just started like scream
- 51:07sobbing in the middle of the restaurant.
- 51:09Yeah, I mean, I think it could have been another good red
- 51:12herring moment if you went with that direction, because it's
- 51:13like she's a lost self hope now. She's like, fuck it, I don't
- 51:15have that future. I'm just staring everybody down
- 51:17with me now. Dude, Elle and Jessica are on
- 51:19completely different ends of the spectrum of LON sorority
- 51:23presidents in film. You got chaotic good and chaotic
- 51:26evil right there. I would argue that no, actually
- 51:31she is. Kind of.
- 51:31She's very chaotic, but the thing.
- 51:33Is though is that she was a lawyer so I almost want to say
- 51:35she's lawful good but she does it in a chaotic way.
- 51:38Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't call Saul Goodman lawful good.
- 51:41He's chaotic. He's chaotic like neutral.
- 51:45Yeah, he does some good things, and not for the right reasons.
- 51:49Yeah, he does a lot of shitty things too.
- 51:52OK, Claire is in the shower and this underclassman Riley comes
- 51:58in talks about her pubic hair, which just like we.
- 52:02Got some open, some very open people here.
- 52:05Yeah, and that's when Jessica's like, oh, hey, this is the
- 52:08senior bathroom. You need to walk across the
- 52:10hall. Drop your towel.
- 52:13That's some Hazens shit right there.
- 52:15I think that's just straight up meme.
- 52:16She's not. She's not a new member.
- 52:19No, she's not. It's it's weird to have like a
- 52:21senior shower section. Like seniors get a lot of
- 52:24privileges. But wouldn't there be like one
- 52:27shower area I guess? Seemed like a shower hall.
- 52:30It was where all the showers were, it seemed.
- 52:34I assumed that there's like a secondary shower locker room.
- 52:38Type and like who's going to get the like these people are
- 52:41comfortable naked around. It's not like you're in the dorm
- 52:44where you know you have a potential, like coming across
- 52:47people you don't know, like you're just walking naked around
- 52:50people you're already naked around in the first place.
- 52:52I guess. I don't know.
- 52:54It was weird. It was a weird power move.
- 52:56You know what else is weird? Jessica just very openly talking
- 53:00about the text they received and the fact that Megan's dead
- 53:02without checking any of the other stalls.
- 53:04These people are so fucking dumb.
- 53:06Like, I mean, honestly, for people who have such a big
- 53:08secret, they are. Big She should not.
- 53:10She should not make a career decision to keep killing.
- 53:14That's bad. Yeah, and the way that they shot
- 53:16this person that's in the shower, it always strikes me in
- 53:19like, this is somebody that's part of the main crew.
- 53:21And then I'm like, Oh no, it's not.
- 53:22It's just a random. Girl, yeah, it's just a person.
- 53:24She's like, what? Doesn't even she only gets one
- 53:27line. It's like hello.
- 53:28And does this mean that Andy was just like, casually chilling in
- 53:31the? Shower.
- 53:31I was thinking that, no, I was thinking like, where was he?
- 53:34Because he had to like, wait for his opportunity.
- 53:37I'm picturing him like spider man of on the ceiling.
- 53:41But he's got to be wearing his gown, right?
- 53:43Yeah. Where something?
- 53:45Like the get the tail of the gown is just like blocking the
- 53:48water and they're like, why is the water stream not so good?
- 53:50And they're like, oh, what is covering the shower faucet?
- 53:53I'm thinking more of like a Talia type eye thing where he
- 53:55like she puts like a little piece of fabric over her face or
- 53:59her eyes hides. Her eyes, because she has the
- 54:01whole You can't see me. There I can't see.
- 54:04You, yeah, I can't see you, therefore you can't see me.
- 54:06But like the rest of the 68 lbs of her is just out in the open.
- 54:11But we play along and we go, where's Talia?
- 54:13And then she's like. Yeah, I you know.
- 54:17We maybe. Was there a fagus in the corner
- 54:20of this bathroom? Did he Spaghett?
- 54:24I hope he's forget. I hope he did too.
- 54:27If he's forget it, I'm mad we didn't get that shot.
- 54:29We need to. I think we just need to reach
- 54:30out to Josh Stolberg on Blue Ski and ask him where was Andy in
- 54:35the shower scene. I know that they said the
- 54:37improbable thing is her body being left there, but the more
- 54:40improbable thing is where was Andy?
- 54:42Where was Andy? That's what I want to know.
- 54:46So yeah, she does. Yeah, yeah, anyway, yeah, she
- 54:49said. Elliot finds Cass's jacket in
- 54:52the basement, or half of it anyway, so they all go upstairs
- 54:55in the kitchen and they're discussing it.
- 54:57Man, and I don't know why, but I thought for sure that there was
- 55:00a shot of a gesture down there because I thought that that was
- 55:04the call back to the house on Sorority Row.
- 55:08Movie. I missed that.
- 55:10I don't think it was there and I couldn't remember if it was just
- 55:13like a false memory for me or something, but I swear I thought
- 55:16I remembered something like that.
- 55:17Did you falsify your false memory?
- 55:20It's very much possible it could have been a deleted scene.
- 55:24We didn't watch the deleted. Scene.
- 55:25We didn't watch all of them though.
- 55:26Yeah, we watched the alternate ending and that was.
- 55:29All, Yeah. Either way, I thought for sure
- 55:31that that was down there, but whatever.
- 55:33Yeah, but Jessica says that they've all got to stick
- 55:35together and just keep going like normal at the parties.
- 55:38That way nothing sets anybody off.
- 55:40Cut to party. Nonsense montage.
- 55:43Ferdinand. Yeah, somebody does a front flip
- 55:48into a pile of bubbles and lands on the concrete, but don't
- 55:52worry, they're super fucking drunk so they will not feel that
- 55:54spinal injury until the next day.
- 55:56Do. You ever think of this trope
- 55:57whenever this stuff happens, Like when like party's going,
- 56:00music's bumping and then somebody does like a wild thing
- 56:03and all of a sudden the music cuts.
- 56:04Like when it's just silence and then the person pops up like
- 56:09yeah, and then I crank the music back up.
- 56:11Y'all ring? I like, you're going to talk
- 56:13about like people just jumping, jumping into shallow areas.
- 56:16And I was like, that's not true. Positive tropes no.
- 56:19No, you know, you know what I'm talking about.
- 56:22Though it's just it's an. Absurd thing to like think
- 56:24happens. Yeah, like.
- 56:26People are watching this guy. Oh, he did that.
- 56:28Turn the music down, everybody. Yeah, no, I want it to be true
- 56:31to life when something like that happens.
- 56:33I was like. And it's like, I really, if we
- 56:40started having like grand parties like this ever, I'm
- 56:42gonna like assign something like you're the guy that watches the
- 56:45events. If something dramatic happens,
- 56:46turn the music. Down.
- 56:47Yeah, they get the remote for our speaker bar.
- 56:50Yeah, you have to do the power down.
- 56:51It's like that's how you do it. Yeah, you gotta wait for the
- 56:57woo. Like for whoever fell.
- 57:00Yeah, exactly. Probably me.
- 57:02It'll be you, yeah. And it'll be a like a surgery
- 57:06meeting event. Oh no.
- 57:09That's how you are, Jesse. Come on, we know those.
- 57:12So the queer and Mickey break up here and.
- 57:16Because he's just been a skeeze ball.
- 57:19Yeah, I mean, he's just trying to dance up on her.
- 57:21She's not in the mood because she's dealing with heavy shit.
- 57:24Yeah, and she's like read the room and then he's just like
- 57:27looking at every other girl's butt and he's.
- 57:29Been doing that the entire time and she's been OK with it.
- 57:32He's he like peeped under a girl's skirt.
- 57:34Yeah, it was really weird. And she's just finally over it,
- 57:37so he goes outside and decides he's gonna hit onto your
- 57:39underclassmen. And Ellie?
- 57:42And Ellie? Which is weird.
- 57:43It's like you look really pretty when you're sad and you cry like
- 57:46an opera singer. She's like, if you fucking say
- 57:50that to Megan, I'll kill you. Yeah, and she actually does say.
- 57:54That she actually does say that part, yeah.
- 57:56And then yeah, the two I'm guessing underclassmen, maybe
- 57:59underage even they seem underage.
- 58:01Yeah, they're trying to get into the party, but they don't have
- 58:04the wristbands. And he's like, if you show me
- 58:07some skin, I'll get you a couple.
- 58:09Of wristbands, they were like, they were cool with a flash.
- 58:12It's like we'll see about. That they said one boob.
- 58:15One Boo. Yeah, he said.
- 58:16We'll see. Yeah, I think he was trying to,
- 58:18like, solicit some sex from them.
- 58:20One, you've seen them both. Yeah, I guess, yeah.
- 58:24And if you're seeing 2 separate booths from like two different
- 58:27people, you know, you're getting 2 pairs, I guess.
- 58:30I don't know, a pair of two pairs.
- 58:32I don't know. We're getting so weird.
- 58:35We're we're getting, we're getting distracted from.
- 58:38Talia. OK, so the whole thing gets
- 58:42interrupted by the killer who's just sitting there in his room.
- 58:46Congratulations, guy. You graduated.
- 58:49Yeah. And then the 2 girls come out
- 58:51and they're like, actually, we decided that you're creepy and
- 58:55not very cute. Yeah.
- 58:56So we're gonna go somewhere else.
- 58:58You're creepy and you're not that hot.
- 59:00That's not nice. Which it's not nice, but also
- 59:03he's not nice so. Yeah, I think he had that one in
- 59:06common. He deserved it, yeah.
- 59:08So he just kind of wonders back inside.
- 59:10He sees some activity upstairs, so he thinks it's queer.
- 59:14He's gonna go fall and like, you know, apologize.
- 59:17Yeah, 'cause Cass and Claire are actually upstairs and they're
- 59:20talking about and Claire is just like she's feeling bad and she's
- 59:24like, you're a good person. Cassidy should have gone to the
- 59:26place, like you said. And Cassidy is like, listen,
- 59:30we're going to make things right and you deserve better than
- 59:32Mickey. And then Mickey gets thrown down
- 59:36a laundry chute and stabbed in the throat.
- 59:38Yeah, yeah. And I thought that they made
- 59:41good use of that under construction part.
- 59:43Here, yes. It's always a good setting for
- 59:46stuff like that. Yeah, because like, what's great
- 59:48about that is because you've got random tools lying around,
- 59:51you've got tarps, you've got dangerous, like, incomplete,
- 59:56Yeah, to fall through. So it's always a fantastic
- 1:00:00horror setting. I like it.
- 1:00:01Always use construction sets if you can.
- 1:00:04Yeah, for sure. Yeah, if possible, please.
- 1:00:09So Ellie, like, saw the whole thing go down.
- 1:00:12Yes. And then she got she starts
- 1:00:13where they just hear screaming downstairs and they're like, oh
- 1:00:15God, it's Ellie. Guess I got it this time.
- 1:00:19So Ellie can't talk, she's so freaked out.
- 1:00:21So they decide that they're going to go look, and they find
- 1:00:23Mickey's body and the pimped out tire iron and still in the wall.
- 1:00:28Yeah. So which does he go and get it
- 1:00:31later or there are multiple I think?
- 1:00:33He does. I think he goes and gets it
- 1:00:35later. He has to.
- 1:00:37They all get a text and it's a video of Megan Seth.
- 1:00:40That guy filmed on the cell phone and says.
- 1:00:42This goes to the police in 20 minutes, so they've got to go to
- 1:00:45the abandoned mine shaft. Cass tells Andy that she's just
- 1:00:49going to meet him at his parents house tomorrow and she'll
- 1:00:51explain everything. Then Maggie is walking to the
- 1:00:55party as they're on their way out and she's like, I checked
- 1:00:57it's not against the rules for me to be there.
- 1:00:59I like and she says. Also your hair looks like shit.
- 1:01:02I like this Jess meets her match here, like the one person that
- 1:01:05can stand up and stump Jess and it's fantastic.
- 1:01:08And Ellie in the backseat going wow, she would have made a great
- 1:01:10Theta. She would have, and she probably
- 1:01:12does after the fact because she does become a Theta.
- 1:01:15Yeah, I like her character. So Garrett is at the mine.
- 1:01:20When they get there, he's holding the other half of the
- 1:01:23jacket and he's bleeding. And they're like, whose blood is
- 1:01:25that? He goes, it's mine.
- 1:01:26And then Jessica just hit someone with her car and she's
- 1:01:29like, he was going to kill you guys.
- 1:01:30And they're like he caught his own wrist.
- 1:01:32He had a blade in his hand. I think that she there was a
- 1:01:35fair assessment honestly, because you never know.
- 1:01:39It could be like a murder suicide type deal.
- 1:01:41I guess, but also like how are they going to explain
- 1:01:44self-defense to the police with this?
- 1:01:46You know, like, oh, we thought that he was going to murders.
- 1:01:49Well, how did he lure you up into the mine shaft?
- 1:01:54Yeah, like. Like it falls apart immediately.
- 1:01:57I guess, yeah, I don't know. They just.
- 1:01:59Throw them down the mine shaft they don't have to fucking care
- 1:02:01about. So they decide that they need to
- 1:02:04go down into the shaft to make sure that Megan's body is still
- 1:02:07there, and as they're lowering her down, the chain breaks,
- 1:02:09which I feel like is very metaphorical to the chain link
- 1:02:12bracelets they got earlier. Or never thought of that, Yeah.
- 1:02:17Weak chain, I mean link chain. Yeah, weak link in the chain.
- 1:02:20There we go. That's a.
- 1:02:21That's a phrase. So she falls to the bottom.
- 1:02:25She looks around, no body. But she sees written on the
- 1:02:28wall. Theta Pi must die.
- 1:02:32So they get back to the house and the party is over.
- 1:02:35They didn't even get to have fun at their last party.
- 1:02:37Everybody's gone. They went to an after party at
- 1:02:39Ro Sigma New the hot tub is overheated.
- 1:02:42So like there's bubbles everywhere and it's going it's.
- 1:02:44Just the backyard is all bubbles, yeah.
- 1:02:46Yeah, which it's fun. That's fun for a party setting.
- 1:02:49Yeah, I would have liked that a lot.
- 1:02:51So the rest head inside while Queer's like I got this, I'm
- 1:02:54going to turn it off if she created the problem she's going
- 1:02:56to solve. It Yeah.
- 1:02:57And she's like, don't worry, I got the Fleur gun.
- 1:02:58So somebody comes at me. This was fun seeing that during
- 1:03:01the outtakes cuz she she had a hard time doing this she's like
- 1:03:04don't worry like don't go alone she's like don't worry I'm not
- 1:03:06she holds the flare gun she. Forgot.
- 1:03:09Yeah, she, well, the first one, she forgot the flare gun.
- 1:03:12She was like, don't worry, I don't have my flare gun, but I
- 1:03:14have this. And it's just her holding her
- 1:03:16hand up in the shape of a gun. And then when she got the flare
- 1:03:19gun, I said don't go alone. She goes, I'm not.
- 1:03:20And then she goes. That's so stupid.
- 1:03:23Yeah, I, I love that. You know, honestly, I would have
- 1:03:27been so tempted to keep either of those shots in the final
- 1:03:30product if I were the editor, the director of this movie.
- 1:03:33Like this is too stupid to not believe it.
- 1:03:36Yeah. So she goes back there.
- 1:03:38She finds the hot tub, can't turn it off.
- 1:03:41She finds the extension cord. She has to fall with the cord to
- 1:03:43go unplug it. Meanwhile, the rest of the women
- 1:03:46are inside the house and they're searching around.
- 1:03:49It's kind of empty. There's some people they're
- 1:03:50making out. Jessica takes an old beer and
- 1:03:53just like, pours it on this. You make an out couple and they
- 1:03:55leave. So Jessica Elliott Cass get a
- 1:03:57text from Chugs's phone that says she won't be showing up to
- 1:03:59the party because she's dead. And they're like, wait, why
- 1:04:02didn't Claire get this? And this is where Claire slams
- 1:04:05on the door asking to be let in. And she's like, Oh my God,
- 1:04:07there's somebody out here. And then she gets just yanked
- 1:04:09back into the This is honestly probably the scariest moment of
- 1:04:12the movie. I like that part.
- 1:04:13Yeah, it's really cool. I like the like the extension
- 1:04:16cord just wrapping around her ankle just.
- 1:04:18How can you take something as stupid and fun and in college
- 1:04:22coded as a yard full of bubbles and turn it into somebody's
- 1:04:27flare gun death? You know what?
- 1:04:28I. Mean it's it's inventive, yes,
- 1:04:30I'll give them credit it is. And she gets the flare to the
- 1:04:33mouth. She gets queer, gets the flare.
- 1:04:36Yes, yeah, yeah. Jessica finds Maggie in her
- 1:04:40bedroom half dressed, saying that she found a cute guy, this
- 1:04:44guy. And then she shows a picture of
- 1:04:46Kyle and just cuz like, if that's my guy.
- 1:04:48And then they start like cat fighting basically, which like,
- 1:04:51now's not the time. And then Maggie's like, I know
- 1:04:54that you slept with Megan's boyfriend.
- 1:04:55So how does it feel? So is it Garrett?
- 1:05:00Is she the one that Garrett cheated with?
- 1:05:04And is that why she was keeping the prank going on for so long?
- 1:05:08But Garrett also doesn't seem like Jessica's type.
- 1:05:11But maybe it's a like I wanna have everything kind of thing,
- 1:05:16like a power move. That's her personality.
- 1:05:18Yeah. Yeah, I think that that tracks
- 1:05:20with her. Wow.
- 1:05:20We haven't. Even made that connection, but
- 1:05:22that. Good.
- 1:05:22And I wonder if we watch some of those deleted scenes if that
- 1:05:25would add some of that in. So I'm curious.
- 1:05:27I could see that, yeah. I like how we watch literally
- 1:05:29every other special feature except for the deleted scenes.
- 1:05:33Just goes and gets an axe. She's like, all right, fuck it,
- 1:05:36let's do this. Megan is in the house and cuz
- 1:05:40like all the girls run up there, like guys, guys break up the
- 1:05:42fight. Megan's here.
- 1:05:43Yes. And he's like, wait, my sister's
- 1:05:44here. And then so they hear sounds out
- 1:05:46of the hallway. So they go out and Jessica's
- 1:05:48about to swing at somebody but gets the butt of a gun to her
- 1:05:51face. And who's misses?
- 1:05:52Crenshaw. Misses Crenshaw.
- 1:05:53She dodges an axe shot and then takes the butt of the shotgun
- 1:05:56and boom, right in the nose because.
- 1:05:58It's Carrie fucking Fisher, dude.
- 1:05:59And she's like, I've been wanting to do that for a long
- 1:06:02time. She's like, fuck yeah.
- 1:06:03You had that coming. Yeah, I fucking love it.
- 1:06:06Yeah, she's like, I saw what you did.
- 1:06:07She goes, we didn't mean to kill Megan.
- 1:06:09And she goes, I just like what? You ruined the house.
- 1:06:12Yeah, Yeah. She's like.
- 1:06:15What the fuck? And then she goes OK, who else
- 1:06:17knows? I.
- 1:06:18Love how quickly this whole thing falls apart because
- 1:06:21they've like been so adamant about keeping this secret.
- 1:06:23OK, I just spilled the beans. Oh yeah, I've told.
- 1:06:26Everybody, yeah, Ellie told Andy, Chugs told her therapist.
- 1:06:31Who knows who? Claire told I.
- 1:06:34Who knows? Probably Brad or Nike.
- 1:06:37I don't know, Mickey. Brad I.
- 1:06:40Don't know. I don't know why I thought he
- 1:06:41was Brad. He looks like a Brad.
- 1:06:43He does look like exactly. He looks like a Brad.
- 1:06:46And yeah, they're like, OK. So yeah, and basically she's
- 1:06:50like, OK, you, they're all of you.
- 1:06:52Go into Jessica's room, lock the door, call the cops.
- 1:06:54I'm going to go kill whoever this is in the house.
- 1:06:58She's like nobody fucks with my girls.
- 1:07:01I like that Carrie Fisher like goes out as such a badass in
- 1:07:04this. Yeah, she's a great, great piece
- 1:07:06of this ending here. And she goes down into the
- 1:07:09kitchen area and that's where the killer is just kind of
- 1:07:12jumping back and forth. There is a great bit in this
- 1:07:15music, like it's just like standing.
- 1:07:17Like that Doo Doo Doo. But there's like one part where
- 1:07:19she walks into the kitchen and goes and then it goes back into
- 1:07:25like whatever it was. And I was like, every time it
- 1:07:27plays and I'm like, that's a fucking imperial March.
- 1:07:29Jesse's been on about this ever since we watched this movie
- 1:07:32years ago and I'd never catch it.
- 1:07:34Every time until it happens and I'm like, it's the fuck out
- 1:07:37Imperial March. And then you're like, I don't
- 1:07:38hear it. And I'm like cuz it was just
- 1:07:39like a quick little like nod to. Word We've never rewound it to
- 1:07:44I've never heard it. I swear to God it happens.
- 1:07:48Believe Jessie guys, she means it.
- 1:07:50I mean it. Yeah.
- 1:07:51I'm so serious cuz. She's so serious, so serious.
- 1:07:54Anyways, she's like shooting just kind of wildly at the
- 1:07:57killer and, you know, the killer's dodging and then she
- 1:07:59eventually runs out of ammo. Which that's the thing with with
- 1:08:02a shotgun like this is that you don't have to have the best name
- 1:08:05because it's a fairly lot of shot.
- 1:08:07Man, yeah, I mean, that's the whole point.
- 1:08:08Yeah, but that's no match for Andy and a graduation game.
- 1:08:12No, I mean, yeah, he's got like. He hides behind Ficus's Spider
- 1:08:17Man's onto the ceiling. Yeah, yeah, he's got like
- 1:08:20stamina buff from. That, yeah.
- 1:08:22Right there. Yeah, there's something about.
- 1:08:23It he did a crowd taunt. Yeah, yeah, Built up that meter
- 1:08:27there. Anyways, He pins her up against,
- 1:08:29he throws the thing, she dodges it.
- 1:08:31But she's like. She's trying to reload her
- 1:08:34shotgun and then he like runs over there and just pins her up
- 1:08:36against the wall, which like gets her.
- 1:08:38Through pushes her into the entire iron.
- 1:08:40Yeah, yeah. And again, how did he get behind
- 1:08:44her and get the tire iron back out?
- 1:08:46I really feel like he's got a secret satchel of these tire
- 1:08:50irons under his gown. When you think of the logistics
- 1:08:52of the entire thing, honestly it doesn't make sense that it
- 1:08:54stabbed her because her back was against the wall the entire
- 1:08:57time. No, cuz she was like starting to
- 1:09:00walk forward and she was right in front of it.
- 1:09:01Really. Yeah, I missed that.
- 1:09:03Ran and pushed the table up against her.
- 1:09:05OK. I thought you just met the
- 1:09:08logistics of him using this same tire iron over and over again.
- 1:09:11I was like, the logistics of this guy make no sense.
- 1:09:12He's he's overpowered. Yeah, OK, fair enough.
- 1:09:16Anyways, Cass and Jess, they hear the whole thing going on,
- 1:09:20so they're like, we're going to assist Ellie.
- 1:09:21You are in shambles like always. Stay here.
- 1:09:24Yeah, if you get a chance to run, run.
- 1:09:26Maggie runs out to look for Megan, and when she goes
- 1:09:29downstairs and shouting Megan, the Andy comes out.
- 1:09:32We don't know what's Andy yet, but it's just easier to say,
- 1:09:34yeah, he comes out, throws A Molotov cocktail.
- 1:09:37The ladder misses, but it catches the room on fire and
- 1:09:40she's kind of trapped by a circle of flames.
- 1:09:42Yeah. And then?
- 1:09:43That is a risky move in a house that has just had a massive
- 1:09:47house party because the amount of alcohol that's on the floor.
- 1:09:50Yeah, flammable. So in the construction area,
- 1:09:53surely paint and stuff like that, which is also very
- 1:09:55flammable. Absolutely.
- 1:09:57Yeah. And it's a sorority, has lots of
- 1:09:59Hairspray. You know you.
- 1:10:01No, I'm not even joking. You can set off a smoke detector
- 1:10:04if you use too much Hairspray in an enclosed space.
- 1:10:06That makes sense, yeah. I can see that.
- 1:10:09We did it before. Greek Sting.
- 1:10:10One year. Really.
- 1:10:11Yeah. I believe that.
- 1:10:14So Andy shows up, Jess's boyfriend.
- 1:10:18He's wearing the robe just. Like child his.
- 1:10:21Child's boyfriend. Wow.
- 1:10:23Yeah. He finds Jessica and Cass, and
- 1:10:26he's like, I thought you said you had this under control.
- 1:10:28And Cass is like, what? You?
- 1:10:30And then they're just like, Jessica and Kyle are just
- 1:10:32fighting. And Cass tries to run out, but
- 1:10:35because she grabs Mickey like they're in the room where Mickey
- 1:10:37was killed, she grabs the phone from Mickey's pocket and tries
- 1:10:40to run out. Kyle's about to follow her, but
- 1:10:43she hits him with the fire extinguisher.
- 1:10:45So Cass and Jessica are trying to find a way out of the room
- 1:10:49because they've started to notice the smoke.
- 1:10:51They can't get through the windows because it's covered the
- 1:10:56the the thing that the contraction people stand on.
- 1:11:03No, it's not a ladder. No, it's got like an actual term
- 1:11:07scaffolding. Yes, the scaffolding.
- 1:11:09Yeah, OK. So what?
- 1:11:12I didn't write down scaffolding, I said just covered because I
- 1:11:15knew it was covered by construction stuff.
- 1:11:17But then things write down the word scaffolding, so I didn't
- 1:11:19think I would forget it. So they are hiding out in the
- 1:11:22bathroom and they pulled back the shower curtain and Megan's
- 1:11:26body has been placed in the shower.
- 1:11:28This is also a little bit weird. Jessica is still cutting all
- 1:11:31kinds of mean quips throughout all of this.
- 1:11:33And I'm like, I get that they were having fun writing pitchy
- 1:11:37lines for her and sassy lines and whatnot, but also like, give
- 1:11:42her character like the semblance of humanity to be at least a
- 1:11:46little freaked out in the moment.
- 1:11:48Yeah, right. But it says she's like, wow, she
- 1:11:50looks terrible. Oh man, I'm beginning to think
- 1:11:52that he's not marriage material. I feel like she was having way
- 1:11:55too much fun here. Yeah.
- 1:11:58My favorite one. That was the one that you used
- 1:11:59in the opening earlier when they're like, it's not like
- 1:12:01anybody's dead yet. Well, Megan.
- 1:12:03Yeah, Like, come on, man. Cass tries to run out, and Kyle
- 1:12:07has come back in. So he grabs her, grabs her butt,
- 1:12:13is killed by Andy, who has walked through.
- 1:12:15At this moment, he has a tire iron.
- 1:12:17And then they're like, Oh my God, it was you.
- 1:12:19And Jessica starts to say something like, she was like,
- 1:12:21OK, this is good. How can we spin this?
- 1:12:23And then he turns around and like, just shoves it through her
- 1:12:25mouth. And he's like, you never could
- 1:12:26keep your mouth shut. You never could keep your mouth
- 1:12:28shut. Yeah, this is when he gets real
- 1:12:30bad with his accent. So they.
- 1:12:33He said he had to kill everybody who knew.
- 1:12:35Yeah. He's like, we could never live
- 1:12:37peacefully. I've been trying to be here for
- 1:12:39you this whole time, and you haven't told anybody?
- 1:12:41Ellie told me. Yeah, like, well, they're like,
- 1:12:44OK, we got to take care of the rest of them.
- 1:12:45Like even Ellie's like, yeah. I mean, like, she's like, no,
- 1:12:47Ellie's fine. Ellie won't say anything.
- 1:12:49Like Ellie told me like she is the weakest of all of them there
- 1:12:53so. And really, honestly, if Ellie
- 1:12:55hadn't said anything to him, would he have done this murder
- 1:12:57I. Don't know.
- 1:12:58Probably not. He wouldn't have known about it.
- 1:12:59She's the catalyst for this whole thing anyways.
- 1:13:02They're like, OK, yeah, we're gonna go.
- 1:13:03Ellie started all the killing. Yes.
- 1:13:06Anyways, they're like, okay, we're gonna go kill her
- 1:13:08together. She agrees.
- 1:13:10And like, okay, we're gonna do a group killing here.
- 1:13:12So she's like, okay. I'm gonna go upstairs.
- 1:13:14You tell Ellie to come meet me. I told her to hide in the
- 1:13:17basement. Yeah, but she's actually going
- 1:13:18to where she knew Ellie was hiding.
- 1:13:20And she was like, you've got to run out.
- 1:13:22And Andy has followed her because he's learned not to
- 1:13:23trust his girlfriend in any sense.
- 1:13:26And he was like, you're a liar. I thought we were going to do
- 1:13:28this together. And now he wants to kill her and
- 1:13:31Ellie. And then they hear Maggie
- 1:13:33screaming downstairs and like, well, we gotta go help her.
- 1:13:35Yeah. So now they're in like the room
- 1:13:37with Maggie. There's like a fire in the
- 1:13:38middle of the room that is separating everybody.
- 1:13:40Maggie. 'S like I can't get through the
- 1:13:42fire and Cassidy's like can you jump?
- 1:13:45Yeah, just jump. Over and Ellie's like, wrap
- 1:13:47yourself in a curtain. Yeah, later and then
- 1:13:50miraculously works. It kind of makes me think of
- 1:13:56Truth or Dare, the sci-fi one, the one I really love, where
- 1:13:59he's gotta go touch the live wire and he's like, OK, make
- 1:14:02sure you got on your sneakers for the rubber grounding and
- 1:14:05we're gonna catch you in a rug afterward.
- 1:14:07Like, they planned it all out and he's like, take off your
- 1:14:09watch. Ellie's.
- 1:14:12Yeah. Ellie's the nerd.
- 1:14:13She's supposed to be a smart 1 so they trust her with this.
- 1:14:15I think if you just jump through like a couple of flames, you'll
- 1:14:18be OK. It's not gonna really be that
- 1:14:19big of a deal. I.
- 1:14:20Mean it's gonna. Hurt, but I mean, it's not gonna
- 1:14:22be a. Lot it won't.
- 1:14:23You're not gonna die. Yeah, pick one anyways.
- 1:14:26Like Andy's still there and. You want bad skin or death?
- 1:14:29Right. Anyways, Andy's still there and
- 1:14:32he's on the side with Maggie and he's about to go get her.
- 1:14:35He's like, he's got his weapon, like a little rope tied around
- 1:14:39so he's able to throw it and then fish it back and then just
- 1:14:41over and over again. It's a.
- 1:14:42Rope. When did he have time to tie it?
- 1:14:44I don't know already. Used it to kill three people in
- 1:14:47the last 10 minutes. It's a Swiss Army tire and
- 1:14:49Jesse, you probably had it built in.
- 1:14:51It's. Actually Daniel Radcliffe.
- 1:14:54Swiss army man. Yeah, my God, I would love to
- 1:14:57see like something like him as like a a murder weapon.
- 1:15:00I want somebody to do a fan edit of this etcetera place to tire
- 1:15:03iron with a tiny Daniel Radcliffe.
- 1:15:05Please, that would be a fantastic.
- 1:15:07People that are good at editing, if you can give us that, that
- 1:15:10would be amazing. So anyways, they're doing that.
- 1:15:13Cassidy has snuck over the flames somehow and is like hey,
- 1:15:18and then she takes a pole or some sort and hits Andy and then
- 1:15:23I get get some. Yeah, he they fight a little bit
- 1:15:28and the floor weakens and she starts to fall through a hole.
- 1:15:30But her bracelet, which apparently is really high
- 1:15:33quality. Way to go, Miss Crenshaw.
- 1:15:35It's just holding onto a nail and she can't like get it out to
- 1:15:38try and drop through, so he's going to come over and kill her.
- 1:15:41Except Ellie, she's done. She's done fucking around.
- 1:15:44She comes out and she shoots him and he falls back and he falls
- 1:15:48through the floor into the. And then this is where Ellie
- 1:15:54just comes to she's like, I'm cool now.
- 1:15:56Yeah, I've evolved. We're gonna do the bad ass walk
- 1:16:00out of this house. Oh my God.
- 1:16:02Slow motion. Action movie walk and this guy
- 1:16:05at the, like, dramatic musical cue in slow motion.
- 1:16:07And they like got this like very nonchalant stride to them.
- 1:16:10Like, I don't care about any of this.
- 1:16:12This is no big deal. You know, it's so ridiculous.
- 1:16:15Yeah, I kind of. I kind of like it though.
- 1:16:17I like every. Who doesn't love the trope of
- 1:16:20like bad ass walking away from a house on?
- 1:16:22Fire for this movie. It's a nice little ribbon.
- 1:16:24Yeah, like, it's like a bow on the end of like this product
- 1:16:27right here. Fantastic.
- 1:16:28Rush Week, 15 months later, Theta Π is back.
- 1:16:32Maggie is a sister. She's.
- 1:16:33Like checked out. Theta.
- 1:16:35Π She just does not give a. Shit OK, this is at least night
- 1:16:383 of recruitment. She's probably exhausted.
- 1:16:41Everybody else is very perky though.
- 1:16:43She's just like, whatever. And then we see a wrist with
- 1:16:47this car. Yeah, it's like the gardening
- 1:16:49crew out there. Yeah, just out there.
- 1:16:51Yeah. So I still feel like a 7's
- 1:16:55correct? Yeah, I mean, this movie is very
- 1:16:57firmly A7 for me as well. I think we were both on to
- 1:17:00something with the pacing of, like, revealing that more people
- 1:17:05besides just the five of them know what happened.
- 1:17:08Yeah, which would give us more red herrings, which makes it
- 1:17:11like a slasher who'd done it. That's what I would want from
- 1:17:14this, Yeah. I feel like that would be the
- 1:17:16punch up this movie needs. Yeah, doesn't need it, but it
- 1:17:19would benefit if they ever if they had decided to go that
- 1:17:22route. So, Talia, she was a little
- 1:17:26bitchy at the beginning of it because it's starting to be
- 1:17:28allergy season for a little poor baby.
- 1:17:30Yeah, but she was playful. She was having a good time with
- 1:17:34it. She didn't build a smut wall,
- 1:17:35No. So she was.
- 1:17:37She was a good time. Yeah, she was like, I live in a
- 1:17:40house, so I think movies about houses are very good.
- 1:17:44Yeah. So that was, that's her
- 1:17:46assessment. I think she agrees that it's A7
- 1:17:48solid, solid 7. OK, who's Zoe's ultimate warrior
- 1:17:52man? I think it was Jessica because
- 1:17:59Zoe can be the mean one in the whole family, yeah.
- 1:18:03She really is like she she. Has a jerk.
- 1:18:06She has jerky moments, like she waits until you're calm and then
- 1:18:09she's like, I'm just gonna fucking hit you.
- 1:18:12To all parties, Yeah, everybody here.
- 1:18:15Yeah. She will like I will ruin your
- 1:18:17morning. I am hungry.
- 1:18:19She's like now, and then later she's like, I love you, Yeah.
- 1:18:24When it benefits her, Yeah. Like, much like Jessica, yes.
- 1:18:28Like she was all into the sisterhood aspect whenever it.
- 1:18:30Benefits her. You are Zoe's Ellie.
- 1:18:33Yeah, no, Talia's the Ellie to her because no, Talia's cast
- 1:18:37theater because like they're at odds a lot of the time, OK.
- 1:18:42Yeah, no, you're Ellie. Except instead of homework, you
- 1:18:44feed her. Yeah, that's true.
- 1:18:46You're right. Yep.
- 1:18:47OK. She makes me cry a lot too.
- 1:18:50Also that, yeah. All right, who's your way to?
- 1:18:55Man, who did I really to? I asked first.
- 1:18:57Dang. It OK, I guess I relate to the
- 1:19:04group of girls doing the dancing at the beginning of the movie
- 1:19:09because I've definitely done Greek sing dances when songs
- 1:19:12come on at like formal and stuff.
- 1:19:14Really. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:15Yeah, absolutely have. I think I'll relate to queer
- 1:19:18because like I liked her party vibes because I feel like that
- 1:19:21was the type of vibes that I had whenever I was whenever I was
- 1:19:24doing that shit in college. You know, she was there for a
- 1:19:27good time just so they can enjoy the peeps, her friends, stuff
- 1:19:30like that. Yeah, I'll keep it at that right
- 1:19:34there. OK.
- 1:19:36All right. Dream sequel.
- 1:19:37Dream sequel? Well, I do know that Stolberg
- 1:19:42and Goldfinger Goldfinger are like very much wanting to do a
- 1:19:46sequel to this movie. OK, so when we reach out to Josh
- 1:19:50Solberg to ask where Andy was in the bathroom, we can also pitch
- 1:19:55our seat. We'll do our pitch, yeah.
- 1:19:56Okay, so this has to be good. This has to be good.
- 1:19:58He might listen to this episode. I know before he has seen our
- 1:20:01episode, our shows about his movies, and he's like Lee's
- 1:20:05favorite and we're like, no. Yeah, we had to explain the
- 1:20:07cheek. I was back in Piranha anyways,
- 1:20:11so let's see. So clearly they they planted the
- 1:20:14seed for Garrett. Yeah, Garrett and Megan.
- 1:20:17But I would like for them to modernize it so I don't want it
- 1:20:21to pick back up with Garrett and and Maggie.
- 1:20:23You want it to go in the twenty 20s.
- 1:20:25Yes, and I want the legend of what happened with Megan and
- 1:20:30that the group of five and then the follow up kind of like what
- 1:20:34you're talking about with Dubro Party Massacre 3.
- 1:20:35So I want them to tell the story of the 1st 2:00.
- 1:20:38Oh yeah. Yeah, so we hear what happened
- 1:20:41with Garrett and Maggie. Let's pick one of them to be a
- 1:20:44house mother. One of them's got to be house
- 1:20:47mother. OK, Well, I think Ellie, I think
- 1:20:51Ellie comes back because she's like, a little bit lost, but she
- 1:20:54found her, like, badass, like, sense of self right there at the
- 1:20:57end. Yeah.
- 1:20:58And I think that she kind of strikes me as like, she would
- 1:21:01have a harder time letting go of the house than Cassidy, right?
- 1:21:03Cassidy won it out, yeah, and she's ready to put that behind
- 1:21:06her. So yeah, I think that Ellie
- 1:21:09comes back. She is house mother.
- 1:21:11She has Missus Crenshaw's rifle. Yeah, like hung up on her wall.
- 1:21:16Yeah. And it's like, I like to imagine
- 1:21:18she's got like a flowery gun rack, like it's like hand
- 1:21:20painted. Yeah, dude.
- 1:21:22And I want her to have her scenes where she's like, I
- 1:21:25wanted to do like Bruce Willis, diehard shit, like crawling in
- 1:21:29there, like air dogs. Yes, she needs to have a yippie
- 1:21:31Kai Motherfucker Mommy. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:21:33That doesn't. Again, like the Sutherland rule,
- 1:21:36as we discussed last night, it is not too much of A bummer for
- 1:21:39her. Yeah.
- 1:21:40Well, I mean, yeah, it's paying homage, Yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:44But to each their own. Sure.
- 1:21:47I think that that has some good potential there.
- 1:21:48And I want her like crawling through the air ducts doing her
- 1:21:51UVK, but in the grand tradition of horror movie house mothers,
- 1:21:55she needs to have like a secret boost stash up there too.
- 1:21:58That's what she's crawling up into the air vents for.
- 1:22:00Yeah, there we go. We got this.
- 1:22:03OK, so basically. That's the killer.
- 1:22:06Yeah, that's what I'm gonna say. Like what is our main storyline?
- 1:22:08So we've got this whole thing as an urban legend, and I feel like
- 1:22:12we need to kind of keep it kind of trophy because that's what
- 1:22:14this movie is, right? So maybe the trope is that they
- 1:22:18as part of like hazing or whatever, they take their PNMS
- 1:22:22or they take their new members up to the mine, the abandoned
- 1:22:27mine, and they're like, it's like a trick.
- 1:22:30Like, you can hear Megan and Garrett's ghosts up here.
- 1:22:33They make the pledges have to spend time in the mine shaft.
- 1:22:37Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And something happened.
- 1:22:41Maybe we don't actually see it this time.
- 1:22:42So we have the element of like, did it really happen?
- 1:22:46Like was it one of them? Like we hear a few different
- 1:22:49versions of it, so we're never sure so.
- 1:22:51We're down there. They have somebody dressed in
- 1:22:53the the graduation gown. Yes, it's a prank.
- 1:22:57It's a prank, so maybe. Somebody dies in. 10 years,
- 1:23:00yeah, maybe multiple of them are dressed in the graduation gown,
- 1:23:03so that way they can be multiple places at once.
- 1:23:04But there's one too many in the graduation gown.
- 1:23:08Yeah, yeah. And maybe it's like, I want to
- 1:23:11say it's a relative of Chugs and Garrett.
- 1:23:13That's what I was thinking, too. Like, I don't know, maybe give
- 1:23:16some, like, shed some light on that tragic past.
- 1:23:18Like, yeah, Chugs. She was, like, very sexually
- 1:23:21active. She had a kid.
- 1:23:22She never told people about it. No, Could have been.
- 1:23:26Yeah. OK.
- 1:23:27I mean, if anybody's going to have one, it's her or Garrett
- 1:23:31even. But, you know, she was very
- 1:23:32sexually active. You know the odds are in her
- 1:23:34favor of getting knocked up at least one time.
- 1:23:37Maybe. Maybe.
- 1:23:40I like I like that angle though. Go.
- 1:23:42OK, we got something going there.
- 1:23:45We got something brewing. OK, All right.
- 1:23:47I like this. OK, talk to us.
- 1:23:50We we will work with you on those.
- 1:23:52If you don't, you don't have our number.
- 1:23:53But we got cheers. We got cheers.
- 1:23:57We don't ask Hal. Yeah, don't.
- 1:23:58Worry about it, don't worry about it.
- 1:24:00Yeah, are we ready for some reviews?
- 1:24:02Are we ready for a tagline? Fuck, we gotta do taglines,
- 1:24:05Yeah. How do we beat?
- 1:24:06It's all fun games until somebody's stabbed with a tire
- 1:24:08iron. Yeah, I know, man.
- 1:24:13Why? It's so bad.
- 1:24:17Let's hear it. Out of the frying pan, into the
- 1:24:19tire iron. What does it even mean?
- 1:24:22'Cause it's out of the frying pan into the fire.
- 1:24:25I said it was bad. When you see the gown, it's
- 1:24:34going down. Instead of like a tagline, just
- 1:24:39play all of their deadlines graduate.
- 1:24:43How's that go? Cannot graduate, OK.
- 1:24:50Something about rushing to your death.
- 1:24:53Putting the hell in Panolenic. We cry, we die, we're Theta π.
- 1:25:03Theta Pi's most well known legacy is death.
- 1:25:11That sounds like something you hear in a trailer.
- 1:25:14Yeah, CS get degrees, tire irons get revenge.
- 1:25:21That's dumb enough to work. We're doing that.
- 1:25:26We're doing it. It's dumb.
- 1:25:28It's like nobody's getting a sticker this.
- 1:25:31Well, maybe you guys would want a dumb I must tagline on these.
- 1:25:35Stickers Josh Stolberg and Peter Goldringer want stickers if
- 1:25:38they'll let. Us what's just secret too yeah
- 1:25:41if you want them we'll get them anyways we'll do it that's it OK
- 1:25:45we're not thinking too much about this anymore it's.
- 1:25:47Stupid. We gotta go.
- 1:25:49We're going with stupid. OK, OK, now let's do some
- 1:25:52reviews. How's that sound?
- 1:25:53OK. I got an IMDb user review.
- 1:25:56Yeah, yeah. And this, again, is like, how
- 1:26:00much people were more interesting when they wrote
- 1:26:02reviews because honestly, like, all of the ones are reviews.
- 1:26:05Really. It's stupid.
- 1:26:07Not a good remake. I'm like, please give us more
- 1:26:11reasoning. Yeah.
- 1:26:12So this one, I cut off the rating on it, but I think it was
- 1:26:18like a three or four out of 10. If you're going to make a
- 1:26:21satisfaction graph for this film, it would peak in the 1st
- 1:26:2310 minutes, plateau in the middle hour, and then fall into
- 1:26:26the Grand Canyon upon the revolution before climbing back
- 1:26:28to middling for the ending. Such is the frustrating
- 1:26:31experience of watching Sorority Row.
- 1:26:33The premise is promising enough. The Theta Π girls find out that
- 1:26:35one of their number, Bree that's not her name, has an unfaithful
- 1:26:39boyfriend. So you decide to prank him by
- 1:26:41making him think the girl has died by his hand.
- 1:26:44Of course, they keep the prank going too long and the boy ends
- 1:26:46up accidentally killing the girl for real and trying to dispose
- 1:26:49of her body. I just want, I wish that this is
- 1:26:52somebody that watched a completely different movie, but
- 1:26:56like it was similar enough to where we're gonna be.
- 1:26:58They're kind of on the mark. The middle section is almost as
- 1:27:02banal as the film can be. Carrie Fisher appears to play a
- 1:27:05highly improbable character, and the girls involved in the
- 1:27:07initial murder get knocked off 1 by 1.
- 1:27:09From here it's pretty standard stuff as the harlot dies first,
- 1:27:12the only likable character is the main and the nastiest girl
- 1:27:15is save for last which they said in the like special features
- 1:27:20that that was intentional like they.
- 1:27:21They were Jessica for last. Yeah, like they were doing the
- 1:27:24the. Yeah.
- 1:27:25Well, and they were doing those kills in that particular order
- 1:27:27for that reason. Like they're paying homage to
- 1:27:30classic slashers. Yeah.
- 1:27:31But the journey through these staples is particularly, even
- 1:27:34now with the kills, especially that of the horrible Jessica,
- 1:27:37not elaborate or drawn out enough.
- 1:27:39He wanted her to suffer. The fact that red herring
- 1:27:42characters like Maggie, the younger sister of the murdered
- 1:27:44girl, Jessica's boyfriend, and his father are all such
- 1:27:47excersible, execrable. I don't think that's a word.
- 1:27:52Execrable. Execrable Word.
- 1:27:55I'm have to look that up. Execrable.
- 1:27:57Oh. No, maybe we're dumb.
- 1:27:59Stereotypes in the film's middle act is far from satisfying and
- 1:28:02the ending terrible. The only other likable character
- 1:28:05in this film, Megan's boyfriend, turns out no wrong person, I
- 1:28:10think they mean. The guy that repeats somebody.
- 1:28:13I think they mean Cassidy's boyfriend turns out to be the
- 1:28:16killer. He has committed these murders
- 1:28:18for no logical reason. Jessica's boyfriend turns out to
- 1:28:20be some type of sexual predator. Not enough builder significance
- 1:28:24is given to her death and Maggie horrible character survives.
- 1:28:27The fire scene is quite well done and some of the scenes work
- 1:28:30well enough to say this from being a complete waste of time.
- 1:28:32This. Person I I don't believe a
- 1:28:35single name that they have here 'cause I got things so jumbled
- 1:28:38up. I don't know who you're talking
- 1:28:39about. Maggie is a horrible person.
- 1:28:40What she do that was bad? Ohh man her.
- 1:28:43Sister have a sister died. Yeah.
- 1:28:44And showed up to the party to just try and, you know, be like
- 1:28:47passive aggressive to the other sisters there.
- 1:28:50That's the worst. And why is she getting shit for
- 1:28:52sleeping with Kyle and not Kyle getting shit for sleeping with
- 1:28:55her? Why is it always on?
- 1:28:56But. She did just and this right here
- 1:28:58is like, oh, Kyle is a sexual predator.
- 1:29:00Is that sexual predator sleeping with Maggie?
- 1:29:05Right. Boy, I don't understand.
- 1:29:07No. This whole thing is confusing.
- 1:29:09And again, the tropes are part of the point of this movie, as
- 1:29:12we talked about. Yeah, it's definitely paying
- 1:29:14homage to the classic slashers. It's giving it a little bit of a
- 1:29:17new edge, like a slightly modernized edge.
- 1:29:20I do agree that the characters are a little bit
- 1:29:22one-dimensional, but I think it's fun.
- 1:29:23Like I said, this is a movie that you just watch to enjoy,
- 1:29:27and I think it's important to have movies that you watch to
- 1:29:30enjoy. I agree and this is a great
- 1:29:32movie for that and I have a fantastic time every single
- 1:29:34time. Don't think too deeply about
- 1:29:36this one, people. It's just a fun movie.
- 1:29:38It's fucking fun. Yeah.
- 1:29:42All right. Well, we got that, so let's do
- 1:29:45some listener reviews. I would love to do some listener
- 1:29:47reviews. Here's the thing.
- 1:29:48I posted this this morning. Two hours ago.
- 1:29:52I forgot to do it last night, but don't worry, we do have one.
- 1:29:57And I'm sorry if I'm not. I'm going to delete the story
- 1:30:00soon. That way it's not even there.
- 1:30:02So people don't do this. Yeah, but we did get one sent in
- 1:30:07from Michael E Howard, who I apologize to.
- 1:30:10I accidentally left off his sex chainsaw to a massacre.
- 1:30:13Texas changed on Massacre to review from last week's episode,
- 1:30:16so I'm sorry about that, Michael, But thank you for
- 1:30:18giving us a review for Sorority Row.
- 1:30:21OK, Sorority Row is a good take on a classic slasher field.
- 1:30:27The movie started off with a bang.
- 1:30:28Once we got to the slasher who done it, I was invested until
- 1:30:32about halfway through. That was when I started to
- 1:30:34confuse which girls and guys were which.
- 1:30:36The ending left me a bit let down, but the kills were fun.
- 1:30:39Who doesn't love a tie iron for a kill tool?
- 1:30:42I put this one in a six out of 10.
- 1:30:44Would watch again for fun. See that, right?
- 1:30:47There's a spirit right there. And I can understand.
- 1:30:49I mean, clearly other people have a hard time keeping up with
- 1:30:51who's who in terms of, like, characters in this movie.
- 1:30:54But I mean, yeah, I mean, I think that's a legitimate
- 1:30:57criticism. Like, there's a lot of sameness
- 1:30:59with some of these people. They don't necessarily stand out
- 1:31:01kind of like what you were saying before.
- 1:31:03They could have leaned into the tropes a little bit harder with
- 1:31:05some of these characters. Yeah, I think a.
- 1:31:07Little bit more personality. Yeah, you can.
- 1:31:09You can have a the trophy character world while still
- 1:31:12giving them some depth and new ones.
- 1:31:14Yeah, I think there's like a negative, like there's something
- 1:31:18about it, like a trope character that people like, apply to that.
- 1:31:22But I don't think it's not necessarily a bad thing.
- 1:31:23Like, you know, it's just like it, it's a part of a movie.
- 1:31:26It's just. Yeah.
- 1:31:27And I honestly, so I think back to the 2019 Black Christmas
- 1:31:31where it was like Greek life and there were definitely some
- 1:31:34stereotypes of Greek life, but they kind of made it a little
- 1:31:36bit more grounded in realism. You get a more wider variety of
- 1:31:39types of characters, yeah, and I think that would be nice to see
- 1:31:43some of as well. Yeah.
- 1:31:46I mean, it would be, yeah. I mean, we got like a decent
- 1:31:48cast of characters. It's just they're not.
- 1:31:49Yeah, very, very unique. Well, they they even said in the
- 1:31:52behind the scenes that they're working off very much like
- 1:31:54stereotypes of college and Greek life in general.
- 1:31:59So yeah, I think, I think just adding a little bit of depth and
- 1:32:02nuance would be nice. Yeah, maybe we'll get that in
- 1:32:06the sequel if we get it. I don't know.
- 1:32:08We're just not people. We can definitely be consultants
- 1:32:11on it. And you'll be hearing from us,
- 1:32:15you know. Who?
- 1:32:15We'll have our agent contact you.
- 1:32:18She doesn't speak English, but she understands it.
- 1:32:21It'll be a series of barks and meows.
- 1:32:24Yeah, and maybe like a sniffing into the phone.
- 1:32:26Yeah, OK. I like how I said agent and you
- 1:32:31said Brooks and Mios well. We got two people, three people
- 1:32:35representing us. Yeah, come on.
- 1:32:36It's like good cop, bad cop, chaotic cop.
- 1:32:39OK. I think that's it.
- 1:32:41OK, that's it. Next week, a lot of fun.
- 1:32:45Very excited is our Patreon voted episode.
- 1:32:47It's the Final Curve. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:32:50I can't wait, man. I love that movie.
- 1:32:53We'll talk about next week, but it's it's a fun time and it's
- 1:32:56very accessible. Right now it's free on Pluto or
- 1:32:58you can rent it for cheap seas on Prime YouTube.
- 1:33:02Google Player Fandango at home. Hey, why don't I just do the
- 1:33:04free option y'all? And it says, in a nutshell,
- 1:33:07tense, imaginative and hilarious.
- 1:33:10That's accurate and I'd agree. It's it's, it's a movie that was
- 1:33:13like, it surprised me at how funny it is, but it also
- 1:33:16surprised me at how good it handles the horror aspects too.
- 1:33:19Yes, I I'd say the biggest thing is that there's not enough of.
- 1:33:24Thomas Middleditch, Yes. Oh my God.
- 1:33:26He's. Like I say that about most
- 1:33:28movies. Yeah, not, not enough,
- 1:33:30Middleditch. He's a he's a great part of that
- 1:33:32movie. Yeah.
- 1:33:33I am looking forward to watching that.
- 1:33:34Yes. I mean, I hope you guys are too.
- 1:33:36Yeah. And thanks everybody for being
- 1:33:38here and watching and talking Sorority Row with us.

- 1:33:44Marnie. You're the one that threw out
- 1:33:47that suggestion. Hey people, if you all have
- 1:33:49things you want us to cover, let us know.

- 1:33:53Yeah, sometimes that takes a little bit to work stuff in.
- 1:33:56But you know, we've said this before, but prom month came out
- 1:33:59from a request for Carrie. Yeah.
- 1:34:02And we just kind of ended up turning it into a whole thing
- 1:34:04that now we look forward to every year.
- 1:34:05So, I mean, be mindful, though, the next two months are going to
- 1:34:09be themed. So we're going to have prom and
- 1:34:11May and then Pride. Yeah.
- 1:34:13So if you got things that you would want us to cover during
- 1:34:16those months, shoot them our way.
- 1:34:17Yeah, we're always for suggestions.
